The Power Of Power In The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins
In a life where one must rebel to stand up for what is right. In a world where there is only one
government. In a game to kill or be killed. Who truly has the power? In the novel The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins, power is shown in many parts of the book. Although the government is initially
successful at controlling everyone s lives in the Districts, as Katniss journey of survival progresses in
the Hunger Games, her rebellious actions damage the Capitol s power. This causes her to prove the
Capitol that they do not own her, and she has self power. Throughout the book, Suzanne Collins
portrays that everyone has certain control. Collins uses the Districts, the rebellions, and the Capitol to
get this message across to the readers. Despite being overpowered by the Capitol, the Districts still
have some control over what they can do. First, the people in their District stand together. Then
something unexpected happens..... [a]t first one, then another, then almost every member of the crowd
touches the three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and holds it out to me.....[i]t means
thanks, it means admiration (Collins 24). In the text, District 12 is showing that they are refusing to
applaud for Katniss to enter the games. This shows that the government has brute force on their side,
but the people of District 12 have their own kind of power. This helps Katniss feel as though she is not
alone, and everyone will always be with her. Their three finger gesture makes

The Essentials Of The Requirements For Secured Transactions
I wanted to reach out the team today and go over the requirements for Secured Transactions and to be
sure that all team members of the business are aware of what it is and how to create one. Secure
Transactions will help to ensure that we as a business will be able to recover our interest if any client
defaults on a credit obligation to the business. While the Secured Transactions help both parties, we
should be very cautious in entering any agreements that are not secured or have not been fully
perfected and understand the risk associated. There are 6 key terms that the business should be
familiar with when entering into secured agreements with consumers (business and personal
consumers). They are Secured Transactions, Debtor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To create the Security Transaction, the creditor will need to 1) create a written authenticated security
agreement that clearly describes the collateral subject to the security interest 2) The secured party
must give the debtor something of value and 3) The debtor must have rights in the collateral. These
three things should be clearly defined in the Security Agreement so that both parties understand the
condition of the transaction. If more than one creditor has a security interest in the same collateral,
both companies may not recover the debt from the debtors in cases of bankruptcy where a third party
may have their debts satisfied from the same collateral. One way to avoid this is to perfect the
agreement which is the legal process that secured parties protect themselves against third party claims
to have their debts satisfied from the same collateral. One of the most common ways to perfect a
secured transaction is perfection by filling. This is when a debtor files a financing statement with the
appropriate government office. By filing with the government office, this will be satisfactory in
notifying the public of the Security Interest in the collateral. Another form of perfection is perfection
by possession where a debtor transfers the collateral to the creditors possession. When the debt is paid
off, the collateral is then returned to the debtor. Another common perfection method is by

The company also owed its bondholders $1 billion in interest payments on June 1, 2009 money it did
not have available to pay. According to GM s bankruptcy filing, the company has assets of $82.3
billion, and liabilities of $172.8 billion. That would make GM the fourth largest U.S. bankruptcy on
record, according to Bankruptcydata.com, just behind the 2002 bankruptcy of telecom WorldCom.
Three of the largest bankruptcies in history GM, Wall Street investment bank Lehman Brothers and
savings and loan Washington Mutual, have occurred in the last nine months. GM will use the trip into
bankruptcy court to shed plants, dealerships, debt and other liabilities it can no longer afford.
Emerging out of bankruptcy quickly will be a new GM, made up of the four brands that GM will keep
in the U.S. market Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick as well as many of its more successful
overseas operations. This is the same process that Chrysler LLC used in its bankruptcy process.
Chrysler filed for bankruptcy April 30,2009 and the judge in that case approved the creation of a new
company that will be run by Italian automaker Fiat in a ruling Sunday. GM, being a larger, more
complicated and global company than Chrysler, is not expected to have its valuable units exit
bankruptcy quite as quickly, though. The new GM will have only $17 billion in debt, rather than the
$54.4 billion it owed

Examples Of Early Observational Movements In Film
Primary and Chronicle of a Summer are two examples of early observational movements in
documentary films that started in the 1960 s. Cinéma vérité was founded in France, while at the same
time, direct cinema was founded in the United States. Both have the same intention of being there and
placing the viewer in the location among the subjects. They each use at least one of the Griersonian s
themes, such as male narrator voice over, re enactment shots, and scripts. However, there are a few
differences in these movements with their choice and style in their approach. Cinéma vérité is very
self reflexive, and includes a lot of interaction between the filmmaker and the subjects on camera.
Techniques were deliberately done to remind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the movie ends it continues to show a theater where Rouch and the people from the film are
watching it. Rouch asks them what they thought of the final movie and seeing themselves on the
screen. They took turns criticizing the film, allowing this scene to become the second layer of self
reflexivity. Chronicle of a Summer did include a Griersonian theme of the use of constructing and
reenacting shots. One scene, a man has his breakfast brought in by his mother to eat in his bed. Later
in a different scene, he does karate after getting home from work. Both scenes were set up to show
what a person does on a normal day. Both of these scenes seemed awkward but helped made the story
more balance because of the on screen interaction in other

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardized Writing System
Writing has constituted an important practice in human culture since the earliest forms of writing were
discovered from cave paintings made 40,000 years ago. Writing enables writers to express themselves
in a writing system that conveys unique features of its associated culture. In this context, writing
means a standardized system for recording, in a specific language, content ranging from values to
ideas to poems, etc. Humans have communicated in thousands of languages throughout history and
consequently devised numerous different writing systems for expressing those languages. To facilitate
easier communication, it has sometimes been suggested that the world adopt a single writing system
capable of representing all languages. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an over optimistic and naïve argument, however, for at least three reasons. Most particularly, a
standardized writing system might seem ideal, but it cannot overcome the enormous difficulties
brought about by requiring the world s citizens to learn a new writing system. This is because learning
writing systems is very challenging, laborious and time consuming (Tzeng Wang, 1983); this is even
more the case for adult learners, who might anyway see little benefit and much disadvantage from the
additional financial expense of learning a new writing system when they are already expert users of
their written language. A second reason why a universal writing system is ill advised is because
languages are living things that evolve slowly over time; there never can be a standard writing system
while cultures are continually developing new forms of expression. This can be seen from the fact that
the Chinese writing system has already undergone several evolutions over the centuries. Thirdly, the
argument for standardizing a writing system is naïve because it entails controversial political
decisions. No doubt the powerful nations of the East would prefer a logographic or a syllabic writing
system while their Western counterparts would prefer an alphabetic writing system. Each side would
therefore favour its existing writing system to minimize disruption and to ensure forms of cultural
hegemony. Taken together, these three arguments demonstrate the impracticality of a universal writing
system and highlight the difficulties such a system would

Forced Sterilization On Women During The United States
Forced sterilization on women
In the United States, 15 states have laws that fail to protect women with disabilities from involuntary
sterilization (Against her will). Sterilization of disabled women in the United States should not be
allowed. It denies disabled women the rights of having children. It is sexist to force women to get
sterilized but men do not have to get sterilized. Women should have the right to have children, no
matter if they have a disability or if something is wrong with her. The United States has used forced
sterilization along with other countries in North and South America, along with places such as Asia
and Africa. Fifty six percent of women surveyed reported being pressured by medical professional to

The rate of sterilization found in this study was twenty three percent overall, is slightly less than the
twenty five percent rate found in the previous similar study (Boroditsky, Fisher and Sand). Minority
women, who more frequently experience unintended pregnancy, may choose tubal sterilization in
response to prior experiences with an unintended pregnancy (Unintended Pregnancy ...). Doctors
should not sterilize anyone who is not able to make the decision on their own and let them decide for
them self. Take steps to ensure all women enjoy full sexual and reproductive rights and have access to
full range of acceptable reproductive health service (Forced sterilization). In the state of Kansas
between 1913 and 1961, Kansas practiced forced sterilization on mentally unstable women. In
addition to laws regarding sterilization, several marriage restriction bills were proposed in Kansas as
part of the eugenics movement. Although they were never enacted as state law, marriage bills were
proposed in 1915, 1917, and 1927, demonstrating the popularity of eugenic ideals. (University of
Vermont...Kansas). Dr. F. Hoyt Pilcher performed 150 sterilization in the Kansas State Home of the
Feebleminded. Between the years 1913 and 1916 there were 1,274 women sterilized in Kansas. In the
year 1921, sterilization in Kansas was at its all time lowest. Between the years 1950 and 1963,
sterilization in Kansas was at its peak. It is

Core Values In Public Administration
Core values are a wide expression to describe the principles by which we describe individual,
occupation, or business. Through the development of brainstorming and studying my professional
experience, I have established in a set of values that are very essential in public administration. In
order to succeed successfully at an organizational and personal level in the public administration,
these values must be trained on a daily basis.
To exercise transparency in public administration is to certify peoples the accessibility of data which is
thought public. This has to be a business objective, and is to be taken into explanation when showing
all public industries irrespective of one s job title. If the objective of a business is to help the citizens
to the greatest of their capability, then failing or avoiding achieving transparency would affect major
harm to the connection between them and the citizen they are aiming to help.
Accountability is to obey to a regular of professionalism in the workroom. Also, it means to recognize
that the professional events are being supported by the peoples of this nation. As such, public workers
are held accountable by peoples for keeping the operation of their business. Accountability is an
essential feature of the functionality of any business private or public. Basically, it reminds people that
while they are working by a professional business they will be held accountable for their actions.
Each public administrator is requested to follow

Medusa Brewing Company
1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA
General
The site is located at the northwestern side of the intersection between Houghton Street and South
Street. The project site is shown in Figure One, Locus Map: 1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA.
The project site is labelled as Assessors Sheet 29, Lot 218 and is a historic mill complex. Therefore,
certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310 CMR 10.58(1) through (5), but Best
Management Practices (BMP) will still be applied.
The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered to the west by the
Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to the South, and a one story
commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge southwesterly of the site which connects to a
parking lot. The site is flat with an elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to south
street.
The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly one foot. The bottom
of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of rubble. It is confined by stone walls, both of
which are over 100 years old. The riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone wall are covered
by overgrowth and a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the footbridge. The wall is in
various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed.
Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends onto the western
portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance Study for Middlesex County from July
6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was determined to be at 204.2 feet. The flood zone area is
having been calculated to be approximately 4,588 SF. The actual area of the flood zone could vary
slightly because the site is flat and could have various undulations not considered in the survey.
Description of Existing Conditions
Prior to its demolition in 1999 the building housed a three story shoe factory. After its demolition it
was used as a drive through ATM until 2002, when the ATM was removed. Currently the lot is vacant
with low lying plant growth and random debris. The stone wall requires repair at

High School Football Comes With A Risk Essay
Although sports may help increase levels of fitness and overall health, is it worth it if you end up
breaking your bones anyways? Not to mention how some injuries would impact academics. Unless
you want to pursue a career in athletics focusing too much on sports would do no benefits. Overall
sports seem to have a negative effect on our youth participants. Not many realize how many injuries
one can get, or how money wasted on sports impacts other students.
Young children having major physical injuries while participating in sports should be of more
concern. In the article High School Football Comes With a Risk, by Jeffrey Perkel it states that, ...boys
aged 10 to 14 we re most likely to end up in the nation s emergency departments with a traumatic
brain injury..., This shows how adolescents are unnecessarily hurting themselves because of these

Ghrelin Emotions
It has been found that certain chemicals in the brain impact your feelings of being hungry or satisfied.
The two primary hormones are ghrelin, the natural appetite stimulating hormone, and leptin, the
natural appetite suppressing hormone. Ghrelin is a hormone produced in the stomach that tells your
brain when you are hungry, therefore stimulating your appetite. It has also been found to slow your
metabolism and decrease your ability to burn fat. The hormone leptin is produced in adipose tissue. It
does the opposite job; it tells your brain when you are full or satisfied. It stimulates the burning of
calories and increases your metabolism.
Research is continually being done to learn more about how our appetite s function. Leptin and ...

This design is intended for us to maintain normal, healthy weight. Our lifestyle choices can either
allow us to maintain normal weight or cause us to get out of sync. For example, if you do not have
adequate sleep you will create more ghrelin and less leptin. This will result in an increase in appetite
and reduce the burning of calories. Another example is when you reduce your food intake when
dieting; ghrelin production is increased. This increase sends a signal to your hypothalamus that you
need to eat more. It is this lack of sleep that forces your body to work against itself and not maintain
and optimal environment for a healthy weight.
Regular exercise helps to regulate ghrelin and leptin production. Exercise normalizes your appetite
and aids it in efficiently burning calories.
The foods that you select also affect ghrelin, leptin, and the satiety center of your brain. The brain
does not recognize simple sugars or artificial sweeteners as food. As a result of this, ghrelin will
stimulate your appetite even though you may not even be hungry. This increased consumption will
result in your overeating and increasing

Antecedent Of Cultural Humility Essay
Antecedents
Antecedents are things that must exist before another can take place (Cutcliffe McKenna, 2015, p.
253). In order for cultural humility to occur, diversity and power imbalance must be present (Foronda,
Baptiste, Reinholdt, Ousman, 2015). Diversity among people can consist of a variety of ethnicities,
cultures, ages, religions, social classes, occupations, or genders. Diversity is an antecedent of cultural
humility, because the concept of cultural humility revolves around certain types of people being open
to other types of people. Another aspect that should be present for cultural humility to manifest is
power imbalance. Inequalities in authority can represent superiority or inferiority of one person or
group, which further indicate a lack of cultural humility.

253). A consequence of not practicing cultural humility is mistrust (Foronda et al., 2015). When
healthcare members are close minded with their patients or outcomes that their patients may desire,
that may not be considered the norm , patients may develop doubt or resentment towards the
healthcare team. On the other hand, positive consequences of cultural humility are optimal care,
mutual empowerment, and partnerships (Foronda et al., 2015). Cultural humility can greatly impact
patient care by allowing the patient to feel as though their values and culture are appreciated and
understood by the healthcare team. Meanwhile, the patient will feel as though they are receiving
optimal care and comfort. Mutual empowerment and partnerships can be formed when individuals are
open minded and willing to learn from those who are different than

Star Trek Morality
Drawing on its seemingly never ending popularity, the Star Trek franchise got rebooted with a brand
new cast and two big budget movies under the directions of J.J. Abrams in 2009. But while the
original movies and television series were famous for their progressive ideas and diverse cast, the
reboot does seem more conventional. Borrowing generously from the traditions of classical narrative
cinema, it seems to attempt to not intimidate potential new audiences with the vastness and
complexities of the original Star Trek Universe by simplifying it and in doing so loses much of its
progressiveness. In the example of the second instalment of the Star Trek reboot, Star Trek: Into
Darkness, the plot supposedly revolves around the threat of superhuman ... Show more content on

Chuck Tryon quotes William Proctor who says that [unlike remakes, sequels, and prequels, reboots
work to nullify history and disconnect stagnant or failed product from a new, cinematic experiment .
(Tryon 3) The original Star Trek Universe had the vision of a utopian future, where humans no longer

there seems almost ironic as some say that the Hollywood blockbuster movie, as this product became

certainly part of that drive for profit. Using famous actors to draw in new audiences and counting on
the loyalty of fans of the original Star Trek Universe, they made action movies that are certainly

above. Racial and gender diversity all fade into the background of the story of the story of the

Analysis Of The Book A History Of The World
Synthesis Essay In the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage it is explained
how the Mesopotamians saw beer and bread as a way to distinguish those who are civilized and those
who are savages. Standage explains how beer had a great role if the Mesopotamian culture and how in
many cases it was told in their stories and legends. The Egyptians were not far off the infatuation with
beer either. The Egyptians also cherished beer greatly and was a great deal of importance to them
especially because it was used as an offering to their gods. In both cases beer holds an important value
to both societies. Tom Standage explains the similarities between the Mesopotamian and Egyptian
views and values of beer, and how it affected their religion and culture. Tom Standage describes how
beer was greatly engraved in both Mesopotamian and Egyptian culture. Standage explains that in
Egyptian culture the phrases to make a beer hall and to sit in the beer hall were very popular
expressions that meant to have a good time It is explained how beer was a staple food which was
necessary in order to complete a beer. This especially came true with the Mesopotamians. The
expression pouring of beer meant the Mesopotamians were about to have a banquet or celebratory
feast and this was usually in regards to formal visits by the king. Beer was a universal drink in both
cultures. Notice how in every one of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian expressions the involvement of

Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes

The Discourse on the Method of Rightly Conducting One s Reason and of Seeking Truth in the
Sciences is one of the most influential works in the history of modern philosophy, and important to the
evolution of natural sciences. In this work, Descartes tackles the problem of skepticism. Descartes
modified it to account for a truth he found to be incontrovertible. Descartes started his line of
reasoning by doubting everything, so as to assess the world from a fresh perspective, clear of any
preconceived notions. Whereas Francis Bacon s Scientific Method wanted to replace the deductive
reasoning by inductive reasoning. The important concept in this reformed ... Show more content on

It is still practiced in some universities and will be practiced up until the 18th century at least. Three
fundamental changes have occurred during the Renaissance; Aristotle portrayed the understanding of
the universe, Galen described the importance of medicine and to understand astronomy Ptolemy
described it.
In 200 years there has been a revolutionary change, Rene Descartes and Isaac Newton have replaced
Ptolemy in astronomy. Galileo has replaced Aristotle in physics. Harvey has replaced Galen in
medicine. The three ancient authorities have been over thrown.
In Rene Descartes Discourse on Method he expresses his disappointment with traditional philosophy
and with the limitations of theology; only logic, geometry and algebra hold his respect, because of the
utter certainty which they can offer us. Unfortunately, because they depend on hypotheses, they cannot
tell us what is real, i.e. what the world is really like. Therefore Descartes suggests a method of thought
combining the consistency of mathematics but based on natural truths about what is real, basic
knowledge which could not be wrong (like the axioms of geometry). He calls into question everything
that he thinks he has learned through his senses but rests his entire system on the one truth that he
cannot doubt, namely, the reality of his own mind and the radical difference between the mental and
the physical aspects of the world.
What is crucial to Descartes is

My Experience At High School
My mom and I were driving home from my club volleyball practice when I broke down in tears due to
stress. High school class registration was coming up and I still had no idea whether or not I wanted to
do band or volleyball in high school. Being a 14 year old in 8th grade, I never thought that I would
have to make such a colossal decision that would affect my life forever. I only had 2 more days to
decide how I would present myself in the new world of high school popularity, and I had no idea
whether I would choose the life of athletics or musical talents. My first instinct wanted to have the
best of both worlds. Maybe in the fall I could be part of the volleyball team and in the spring I could
pick up band and be involved in both organizations. I would be able to play the sport I loved and get
to know the volleyball girls and then in the spring reconnect with my band friends while playing hard
music and getting to know the band program in that way. In my heart I knew this was not going to
happen, there was no way that I could have both athletics and band in my schedule, nor could I truly
be happy with this decision. I would miss out on the best part of band, the marching and athletic part,
and spring for volleyball is the time when the team bonds the most because of the awful hell of off
season. I just couldn t pick this option, no matter how much I craved to have both volleyball and band
in my life together. For the majority of 8th grade I had my heart set on playing

Persuasive Essay On In Cold Blood
Cold blood, cold facts, hot topic. The banning of the book In Cold Blood from many school s
curriculum has been widely based on the violence, sexual content, and profanity contained in Truman
Capote s novel. However, based on a true story, this novel helps showcase the indisputable issues in
society. Although In Cold Blood includes savage violence that can be damaging to students in younger
grade levels, the novel should be included only in upper level advanced placement curriculums
because it fosters safe and open discussions about violence, profanity, and sexual content in literature.
In Cold Blood gives graphic descriptions of the murders of four members of the Clutter family.

A Biphasic Compound Action Potential
DISCUSSION
Biphasic CAP. For the recording of a biphasic compound action potential, both the positive and
negative recording electrodes were used, with the negative recording electrode at position D and the
positive recording electrode at position E (refer to Figure 1). The extracellular bipolar recording takes
the difference between what the negative electrode picked up and what the positive electrode picked
up. The first, positive deflection of the CAP was caused by the extracellular negative charge of the
action potential recorded by the negative electrode subtracted from the positive resting charge at the
positive electrode a positive value minus a negative value yields a positive value, hence the positive,
upward deflection of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The compound action potential adds up all the action potentials that each individual neuron
experiences in the sciatic nerve. Different stimulus amplitudes cause different neurons to fire an action
potential; this is due to the fact that each neuron has a different threshold potential, or the minimum
voltage the neuron needs to fire an action potential. The individual neuron action potential is an all or
nothing event, but the CAP, as a summation of different individual neurons, is not. The CAP
amplitude will increase with larger stimulus potentials because more neurons with higher individual
thresholds will be recruited. For this frog sciatic nerve, there are three fiber types, A, B, and C. A
fibers are further divided, in the order of decreasing diameter, into α, β, γ, and δ fibers. There is an
inverse relationship between the diameter of the nerve fiber and the threshold potential: the larger the
diameter, the lower the threshold. Thus, as the largest fibers, the Aα neurons will be the first to be
stimulated at a low stimulus potential, and the Aδ neuron fibers will be the last to be recruited.
Because the sciatic nerve is mostly composed of A fibers, the recruitment of A subtype nerve fibers are
more readily distinguishable from the data. The minimum potential required to stimulate the Aα fibers
was between 75 mV and 80 mV. Once the stimulus potential reached 90 mV, Aβ neurons were
recruited and contributed to the increase in amplitude of the CAP. At a stimulus

accordingly. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to leukemia and
multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving him nuts. That is why
we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental hospital. Holden is very immature,
he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of something because he isn t focused.
Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly
not ready to be released into civilization, he might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature
and cannot act his age for anything. In the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self
centered and he often did very immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very
contradicting considering that he is very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say
Boy! quite a lot. Partly because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my
age sometimes. I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen.
(Salinger 16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this
could be dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. In the mental
facility, he will be safe and he will not cause any harm to anyone or to himself

Essay On What Does It Mean To Be A Man
What does it mean to be a man? In many cases the definition of a man is someone who is strong and
does not show a lot of emotions. The media has many stereotypical meanings of what a man is, also
these stereotypes mold men into what is being portrayed in social media. Family values also have a
huge impact on how young men act. In some circumstances, father s do not nurture their son s as
much as young girls are nurtured at young ages. This then leads young men to not handle their
emotions very well. Traditionally when a father has a son they are more tough on boys. While, if a
father were to have a daughter they are treated completely different. Fathers are highly overprotective
of their daughters while for their son s, they don t care as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This erratic behavior tends to cause issues for young males because many then believe that they can
not handle their emotions in a healthier way. Instead of talking about their feelings they go on these
rampages and often do things they later on regret (Rash). In addition to young boys not showing their
emotions, a vast amount of young boys are told to not cry because crying is not something boys do.
This type of language molds many young boys brains to believing that crying is something wrong and
they should man up . This also keeps many young boys from seeking out help when they are going
through something difficult (Richards). Suddenly, this then leads to young boys never speaking about
their problems and keeping all their emotions buried inside of them. As awful as it sounds due to boys
keeping all their feelings inside, this later on leads boys to committing suicide. Boys account for 75%
of suicides (Richards). There are many reasons as to why boys act like this but the main reason is
society and how they are raised. This kind of parenting results in many boys having problems showing
even the tiniest bits of feelings towards anything. This ultimately the reason why males are called
emotionless. I have friends who also do not open up unless I force them too. It is as if them telling me
their feelings make theme feel weak and they hate feeling weak, especially in front

Hsv-2 Research Paper
HSV 1 is generally transferred from one person to another by kissing.... HSV 2 is usually transferred
by vaginal intercourse or anal intercourse. Yet in the same way HSV 1 may invade the genitals and
then trigger genital HSV simplex virus, HSV 2 will transfer from a single person s genitals to one
other person s lips, leading to oral herpes.
The transfer before you kiss
There may be a modest likelihood that herpes simplex virus I or II (the categories that commonly lead
to cold sores or genital skin lesions, respectively) might end up being passed whenever lesions/sores
are not existing. This can be theoretical solely as it would be complicated to confirm this genuinely

How The Recent Acquisition Of Sunseeker Yachts
How the Recent Acquisition of Sunseeker Yachts by Dalian Wanda affected Brand Equity
Name: Daniel Cripps
Student Number: 149029371
Word Count: 1675 Introduction
From humble beginnings, Sunseeker have evolved from being a brand, to a global icon. Producing the
finest motoryachts the world has ever seen (Sunseeker, 2015). From this statement found plastered on
Sunseeker s home page it is clear to see the position the brand wishes to occupy in the mind of
consumers. While they provide a function in the form of transport and accommodation, their brand is
evidently a symbol of luxury and the epitome of the lavish lifestyle. At the centre of this position is the
British heritage of yacht building, universally acknowledged as among the finest in the world.
Sunseeker has enjoyed a positive Country of Origin (COO) effect for decades. However since 2013
when 91.8% of the company was acquired by Dalian Wanda Group, a Chinese conglomerate, the
brand identity and equity is at risk from poor COO associations related to the Chinese ownership. This
essay will explore, through the use of academic models and literature as well as carefully selected
aspects from Sunseeker s situation, the possible effects on brand equity as a result of the acquisition.
The main areas of discussion are; whether COO effect plays a significant role in brand equity, the
methods used by Sunseeker to control the COO effect and their degrees of success and finally whether
the same issues apply in Asia and

The Abstract Principles Of Sexuality And Race
The abstract principles of sexuality and race have always been delicate ideas for society to
comprehend. When you Google the word sexuality , you do not come across a gender specified
definition that constricts males and females to desire only one another. It simply states that it is the
sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be
sexual with whomever they desire. So why is the dichotomy of homosexuality versus heterosexuality
such a pervasive notion?
There are multiple myths and facts about sexual orientation. Case Western Reserve University, located
in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the most LGBT friendly campuses in the country. On their website they
host an page about their gender friendly campus that answers any common questions one might have
about such issues. No one knows what causes sexual orientation. Many lesbian, gay and bisexual
people know that they are attracted to members of their own sex at an early age, sometimes as young
as 6 or 7 years old. Others learn much later in life, in their 30 s, 40 s or later still. Some research
indicates that sexual orientation is determined between birth and age 3, but no one is sure what causes
particular orientations.
As for race, considering and supporting the theory of color on individuals and collaborating the ideas
to our community, in my opinion, seems to be much more of a delicate matter than sexuality. The
concept of race is a modern concept. In the

whites. Data of 2008 indicated that 52% of juvenile violent crime index arrests and 33% of juvenile

Keeping track of crime through the FBI s UCR Program can be an effective tool to measure trends in

data can also help address social issues such as the juvenile arrests disproportionately involved

Making Sports Safer
For years sports have been a major part of American culture. Sports, like most things, are making

expected to happen. With minor improvements sports can be aggressive and fun while being safe.
Maybe not injury free but definitely a lot safer. Professional sports associations such as the NFL,
NHL, MLB, NBA, and NASCAR, should take steps toward changing rules, regulations, and
redisigning epuiptment to better protect players from injuries, specifically concussions.
There are now more rules in place regaurding tackling or hits in the NFL on defenseless players or

One popular cultural myth about the mentally ill is the archetype of the Sexy Crazy Girl , which we ve

that s not what you get from Girl, Interrupted. It is apparent that all the girls in the movie had some
type of dysfunctional personality, and bad things happen to some of them, but it just did not seem
realistic. First off, most of the patients prtrayed were young, which made the care facility look like a

Overall, Girl, Interrupted feels like a movie that could ve been rawer, more intense, and more
confrontational... ie, a lot less Hollywood. I found myself wondering what this adaptation of Kaysen s
book would ve been like if it had been done on a shoestring budget with unknown young actresses and

self discovery. Though this film has been long in development, and many actresses vied for the
leading role, the casting call was even more crowded for the supporting roles. In particular, though I

Development of the Theater High Altitude Area Defense System
The United States Army has been developing and implementing systems in order to protect our nation
s national security. One of the systems the Army has added to its arsenal is the Theater High Altitude
Area Defense system (THAAD). During the Persian Gulf War, the Army identified a need for a system
that would be able to counter a theater ballistic missile attack. THAAD is designed to cover the upper
tier of the Army s two tiered theater ballistic missile defense plan (DOD Inspector General, 1995) and
is a mobile ground based theater missile defense (TMD) system that can protect military forces that
are deployed at home or abroad, population centers, and civilian assets from Theater Ballistic Missile
(TBM) attacks. THAAD engages incoming ballistic missiles and is capable of intercepting them at
high altitudes. The prime contractor selected for the project was Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space.
The project would encompass the design and materials of radars, battle management command,
control, communications, mobile launchers, interceptors and ground support equipment. The
launching system would be on a palletized loading system fitted on existing vehicles the Army has in
their inventory. THAAD s first inception was in 1992 and it would take many years for the project to
be successful. On June 28th, 2010, the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from the U.S. Army and the
Missile Defense Agency was successful in conducting an intercept test (THAAD System Intercept,

Analysis Of The Novel The Absolutely True Diary Of A...
The novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, fits some of the most
important criteria that makes a good book. The three criteria that makes a good book is a hook that
draws you in, a good conflict, and a relatable topic for the reader. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part
Time Indian has an excellent hook that wants you to read on. The first sentence in the novel is, I was
born with water on the brain (p.1). From here on, this hook makes you want to find out who this
person is and why he or she was born with water on their brain. This was an interesting hook because
it s not normal to be born with water on your brain, which made me want to read to find out why. The
second criteria that makes a good book is a good conflict. In this novel, there are many conflicts, but
the biggest one was when Junior leaves his school on his Indian Reservation for a school that is in a
mostly white town. Junior was telling his friend Rowdy, that he was transferring schools, Man, I was
scared of those Reardan kids, but Rowdy absolutely hated all of it (p.51). Transferring schools was
such a big conflict because he decided to leave his only friend Rowdy, from his Indian reservation,
leaving his friend Rowdy to hate him. Reardan was mostly an all white school, so Junior felt he was
going to be out of place. The final criteria is being able to relate to the book in some way. There are
many topics that the reader can relate to from this book, but one that

Determination Of The Presence Of Herpes Simplex
Determination of the presence of Herpes simplex through Indirect ELISA

Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today. Herpes
simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1 which is often
found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in order to
determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA involves two
antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary antibody bound to the
primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better amplified signal. Results
obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV. Indirect ELISA however cannot
determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample. The cause of HSV 1 is the exchange of
body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while sexual contact causes HSV 2. Though it rarely
happens, there are possibilities that false positive or false negative results were obtained in Indirect
ELISA. Interference may cause error.

Jim Crow Laws And Anti-Miscegenation Laws
Enacted by lawmakers bitter about the loss against the North, Jim Crow Laws blatantly favored whites
and repressed those of color as many refused to welcome blacks into civic life, still believing them to
be inferior. These laws were essentially a legalized legislative barrier to the freedom promised by our
constitution, and the newly won war against the southern states to end slavery. This institutionalized
form of inequality spread like a wildfire in the subsequent decades, separating the races in every way
imaginable; in all walks of life. Although these laws varied from state to state, we see a common trend
of laws keeping blacks and whites separated, particularly in social settings and social institutions.
Some of these laws include but are not limited to marriage, hospitalization, restrooms, public

  • 2. The Power Of Power In The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins In a life where one must rebel to stand up for what is right. In a world where there is only one government. In a game to kill or be killed. Who truly has the power? In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, power is shown in many parts of the book. Although the government is initially successful at controlling everyone s lives in the Districts, as Katniss journey of survival progresses in the Hunger Games, her rebellious actions damage the Capitol s power. This causes her to prove the Capitol that they do not own her, and she has self power. Throughout the book, Suzanne Collins portrays that everyone has certain control. Collins uses the Districts, the rebellions, and the Capitol to get this message across to the readers. Despite being overpowered by the Capitol, the Districts still have some control over what they can do. First, the people in their District stand together. Then something unexpected happens..... [a]t first one, then another, then almost every member of the crowd touches the three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and holds it out to me.....[i]t means thanks, it means admiration (Collins 24). In the text, District 12 is showing that they are refusing to applaud for Katniss to enter the games. This shows that the government has brute force on their side, but the people of District 12 have their own kind of power. This helps Katniss feel as though she is not alone, and everyone will always be with her. Their three finger gesture makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Essentials Of The Requirements For Secured Transactions I wanted to reach out the team today and go over the requirements for Secured Transactions and to be sure that all team members of the business are aware of what it is and how to create one. Secure Transactions will help to ensure that we as a business will be able to recover our interest if any client defaults on a credit obligation to the business. While the Secured Transactions help both parties, we should be very cautious in entering any agreements that are not secured or have not been fully perfected and understand the risk associated. There are 6 key terms that the business should be familiar with when entering into secured agreements with consumers (business and personal consumers). They are Secured Transactions, Debtor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To create the Security Transaction, the creditor will need to 1) create a written authenticated security agreement that clearly describes the collateral subject to the security interest 2) The secured party must give the debtor something of value and 3) The debtor must have rights in the collateral. These three things should be clearly defined in the Security Agreement so that both parties understand the condition of the transaction. If more than one creditor has a security interest in the same collateral, both companies may not recover the debt from the debtors in cases of bankruptcy where a third party may have their debts satisfied from the same collateral. One way to avoid this is to perfect the agreement which is the legal process that secured parties protect themselves against third party claims to have their debts satisfied from the same collateral. One of the most common ways to perfect a secured transaction is perfection by filling. This is when a debtor files a financing statement with the appropriate government office. By filing with the government office, this will be satisfactory in notifying the public of the Security Interest in the collateral. Another form of perfection is perfection by possession where a debtor transfers the collateral to the creditors possession. When the debt is paid off, the collateral is then returned to the debtor. Another common perfection method is by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to GM s bankruptcy filing, the company has assets of $82.3 billion, and liabilities of $172.8 billion. That would make GM the fourth largest U.S. bankruptcy on record, according to Bankruptcydata.com, just behind the 2002 bankruptcy of telecom WorldCom. Three of the largest bankruptcies in history GM, Wall Street investment bank Lehman Brothers and savings and loan Washington Mutual, have occurred in the last nine months. GM will use the trip into bankruptcy court to shed plants, dealerships, debt and other liabilities it can no longer afford. Emerging out of bankruptcy quickly will be a new GM, made up of the four brands that GM will keep in the U.S. market Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick as well as many of its more successful overseas operations. • 5. Examples Of Early Observational Movements In Film Primary and Chronicle of a Summer are two examples of early observational movements in documentary films that started in the 1960 s. Cinéma vérité was founded in France, while at the same time, direct cinema was founded in the United States. Both have the same intention of being there and placing the viewer in the location among the subjects. They each use at least one of the Griersonian s themes, such as male narrator voice over, re enactment shots, and scripts. However, there are a few differences in these movements with their choice and style in their approach. Cinéma vérité is very self reflexive, and includes a lot of interaction between the filmmaker and the subjects on camera. Techniques were deliberately done to remind the ... Rouch asks them what they thought of the final movie and seeing themselves on the screen. They took turns criticizing the film, allowing this scene to become the second layer of self reflexivity. • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardized Writing System Writing has constituted an important practice in human culture since the earliest forms of writing were discovered from cave paintings made 40,000 years ago. Writing enables writers to express themselves in a writing system that conveys unique features of its associated culture. In this context, writing means a standardized system for recording, in a specific language, content ranging from values to ideas to poems, etc. Humans have communicated in thousands of languages throughout history and consequently devised numerous different writing systems for expressing those languages. To facilitate easier communication, it has sometimes been suggested that the world adopt a single writing system capable of representing all languages. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an over optimistic and naïve argument, however, for at least three reasons. Most particularly, a standardized writing system might seem ideal, but it cannot overcome the enormous difficulties brought about by requiring the world s citizens to learn a new writing system. This is because learning writing systems is very challenging, laborious and time consuming (Tzeng Wang, 1983); this is even more the case for adult learners, who might anyway see little benefit and much disadvantage from the additional financial expense of learning a new writing system when they are already expert users of their written language. A second reason why a universal writing system is ill advised is because languages are living things that evolve slowly over time; there never can be a standard writing system while cultures are continually developing new forms of expression. This can be seen from the fact that the Chinese writing system has already undergone several evolutions over the centuries. Thirdly, the argument for standardizing a writing system is naïve because it entails controversial political decisions. No doubt the powerful nations of the East would prefer a logographic or a syllabic writing system while their Western counterparts would prefer an alphabetic writing system. Each side would therefore favour its existing writing system to minimize disruption and to ensure forms of cultural hegemony. Taken together, these three arguments demonstrate the impracticality of a universal writing system and highlight the difficulties such a system would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Core Values In Public Administration Core values are a wide expression to describe the principles by which we describe individual, occupation, or business. Through the development of brainstorming and studying my professional experience, I have established in a set of values that are very essential in public administration. In order to succeed successfully at an organizational and personal level in the public administration, these values must be trained on a daily basis. To exercise transparency in public administration is to certify peoples the accessibility of data which is thought public. It has also been found to slow your metabolism and decrease your ability to burn fat. The hormone leptin is produced in adipose tissue. In order for cultural humility to occur, diversity and power imbalance must be present (Foronda, Baptiste, Reinholdt, Ousman, 2015). Diversity among people can consist of a variety of ethnicities, cultures, ages, religions, social classes, occupations, or genders. Diversity is an antecedent of cultural humility, because the concept of cultural humility revolves around certain types of people being open to other types of people. In this work, Descartes tackles the problem of skepticism. Descartes modified it to account for a truth he found to be incontrovertible. In 200 years there has been a revolutionary change, Rene Descartes and Isaac Newton have replaced Ptolemy in astronomy. Galileo has replaced Aristotle in physics. Harvey has replaced Galen in medicine. The three ancient authorities have been over thrown. In Rene Descartes Discourse on Method he expresses his disappointment with traditional philosophy and with the limitations of theology; only logic, geometry and algebra hold his respect, because of the utter certainty which they can offer us. The extracellular bipolar recording takes the difference between what the negative electrode picked up and what the positive electrode picked up. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The compound action potential adds up all the action potentials that each individual neuron experiences in the sciatic nerve. Different stimulus amplitudes cause different neurons to fire an action potential; this is due to the fact that each neuron has a different threshold potential, or the minimum voltage the neuron needs to fire an action potential. The individual neuron action potential is an all or nothing event, but the CAP, as a summation of different individual neurons, is not. The CAP amplitude will increase with larger stimulus potentials because more neurons with higher individual thresholds will be recruited. For this frog sciatic nerve, there are three fiber types, A, B, and C. A fibers are further divided, in the order of decreasing diameter, into α, β, γ, and δ fibers. There is an inverse relationship between the diameter of the nerve fiber and the threshold potential: the larger the diameter, the lower the threshold. Thus, as the largest fibers, the Aα neurons will be the first to be stimulated at a low stimulus potential, and the Aδ neuron fibers will be the last to be recruited. Because the sciatic nerve is mostly composed of A fibers, the recruitment of A subtype nerve fibers are more readily distinguishable from the data. The minimum potential required to stimulate the Aα fibers was between 75 mV and 80 mV. Once the stimulus potential reached 90 mV, Aβ neurons were recruited and contributed to the increase in amplitude of the CAP. At a stimulus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How The Recent Acquisition Of Sunseeker Yachts How the Recent Acquisition of Sunseeker Yachts by Dalian Wanda affected Brand Equity Name: Daniel Cripps Student Number: 149029371 Word Count: 1675 Introduction From humble beginnings, Sunseeker have evolved from being a brand, to a global icon. Producing the finest motoryachts the world has ever seen (Sunseeker, 2015). From this statement found plastered on Sunseeker s home page it is clear to see the position the brand wishes to occupy in the mind of consumers. While they provide a function in the form of transport and accommodation, their brand is evidently a symbol of luxury and the epitome of the lavish lifestyle. At the centre of this position is the British heritage of yacht building, universally acknowledged as among the finest in the world. Sunseeker has enjoyed a positive Country of Origin (COO) effect for decades. However since 2013 when 91.8% of the company was acquired by Dalian Wanda Group, a Chinese conglomerate, the brand identity and equity is at risk from poor COO associations related to the Chinese ownership. This essay will explore, through the use of academic models and literature as well as carefully selected aspects from Sunseeker s situation, the possible effects on brand equity as a result of the acquisition. The main areas of discussion are; whether COO effect plays a significant role in brand equity, the methods used by Sunseeker to control the COO effect and their degrees of success and finally whether the same issues apply in Asia and ... • 28. The Abstract Principles Of Sexuality And Race The abstract principles of sexuality and race have always been delicate ideas for society to comprehend. When you Google the word sexuality , you do not come across a gender specified definition that constricts males and females to desire only one another. It simply states that it is the sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be sexual with whomever they desire. So why is the dichotomy of homosexuality versus heterosexuality such a pervasive notion? There are multiple myths and facts about sexual orientation. Case Western Reserve University, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the most LGBT friendly campuses in the country. On their website they host an page about their gender friendly campus that answers any common questions one might have about such issues. No one knows what causes sexual orientation. Many lesbian, gay and bisexual people know that they are attracted to members of their own sex at an early age, sometimes as young as 6 or 7 years old. Others learn much later in life, in their 30 s, 40 s or later still. Some research indicates that sexual orientation is determined between birth and age 3, but no one is sure what causes particular orientations. As for race, considering and supporting the theory of color on individuals and collaborating the ideas to our community, in my opinion, seems to be much more of a delicate matter than sexuality. The concept of race is a modern concept. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is apparent that all the girls in the movie had some type of dysfunctional personality, and bad things happen to some of them, but it just did not seem realistic. One of the systems the Army has added to its arsenal is the Theater High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD). During the Persian Gulf War, the Army identified a need for a system that would be able to counter a theater ballistic missile attack. THAAD is designed to cover the upper tier of the Army s two tiered theater ballistic missile defense plan (DOD Inspector General, 1995) and is a mobile ground based theater missile defense (TMD) system that can protect military forces that are deployed at home or abroad, population centers, and civilian assets from Theater Ballistic Missile (TBM) attacks. THAAD engages incoming ballistic missiles and is capable of intercepting them at high altitudes. The prime contractor selected for the project was Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space. The project would encompass the design and materials of radars, battle management command, control, communications, mobile launchers, interceptors and ground support equipment. The launching system would be on a palletized loading system fitted on existing vehicles the Army has in their inventory. THAAD s first inception was in 1992 and it would take many years for the project to be successful. The novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, fits some of the most important criteria that makes a good book. The three criteria that makes a good book is a hook that draws you in, a good conflict, and a relatable topic for the reader. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian has an excellent hook that wants you to read on. The first sentence in the novel is, I was born with water on the brain (p.1). From here on, this hook makes you want to find out who this person is and why he or she was born with water on their brain. This was an interesting hook because it s not normal to be born with water on your brain, which made me want to read to find out why. The second criteria that makes a good book is a good conflict. In this novel, there are many conflicts, but the biggest one was when Junior leaves his school on his Indian Reservation for a school that is in a mostly white town. Junior was telling his friend Rowdy, that he was transferring schools, Man, I was scared of those Reardan kids, but Rowdy absolutely hated all of it (p.51). Transferring schools was such a big conflict because he decided to leave his only friend Rowdy, from his Indian reservation, leaving his friend Rowdy to hate him. Reardan was mostly an all white school, so Junior felt he was going to be out of place. The final criteria is being able to relate to the book in some way. Cadiz Biology Department, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft Ave, Manila, Philippines *Email: cadizpriscillamariel@yahoo.com Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today. Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1 which is often found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary antibody bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better amplified signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV. Indirect ELISA however cannot determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample. The cause of HSV 1 is the exchange of body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while sexual contact causes HSV 2. Jim Crow Laws And Anti-Miscegenation Laws Enacted by lawmakers bitter about the loss against the North, Jim Crow Laws blatantly favored whites and repressed those of color as many refused to welcome blacks into civic life, still believing them to be inferior. This institutionalized form of inequality spread like a wildfire in the subsequent decades, separating the races in every way imaginable; in all walks of life. Although these laws varied from state to state, we see a common trend of laws keeping blacks and whites separated, particularly in social settings and social institutions. Some of these laws include but are not limited to marriage, hospitalization, restrooms, public transportation, and prisons; all of which isolating blacks from whites. We even find laws regarding liquor licensing such as a law in Georgia which required all persons licensed to sell alcohol, to serve exclusively whites or exclusively colored people; prohibiting sales to the two races simultaneously (NPS, 2015). Laws such as this were not few and far between. Segregation of blacks became a defining custom in nearly every aspect of life in the mid nineteenth century well into the mid twentieth century.
