October Sky Essay
Homer Hickam was a teenage boy from a mining town in West Virginia called Coalwood. He inspired
to build rockets when he seen the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, streak across the stars. With his
friends and the local nerd, Homer sets out to do just that but with many errors and trials. Along with
the town, Homer s father thought they were wasting their time with their rockets. He wanted Homer to
be a coal miner just like everyone else but Homer knew he didn t belong there. As time went on, some
people from town became interested in seeing the homemade missiles launch into the sky. The boys
became popular and were known as the Rocketboys around town.
When Homer and his friends fired one of the first rockets off and it crashed ... Show more content on

During this time Homer s dad was really disappointed in him because he quit football to build these
rockets. Homer says he is never going to mine coal. One day after they shot off a rocket, the police
came to the school to arrest Homer and his friends for starting a forest fire. They gave up on building
rockets because all of their dreams were crushed. That night his father was hurt mining and Homer
quit school and worked in the mines to help pay the hospital bills. His dad changed his attitude about
Homer when he worked in the mines because he thought he was doing the right thing. Homer didn t
like it at all and his hopes and dreams were gone. After work one night, Homer s mom told him that
Miss Reilly was sick. When he went to visit her, she told him that he didn t belong in the mine and
that he needed to stick to his dreams. That night he opened the book she gave him and started to work
on the math and where the rocket went when the police said that it started the fire. He calculated that
he didn t start the fire.
Homer quit his job, went back to school, and won the County Science Fair. He was sent to
Indianapolis for the National Science Fair. His dad was disappointed again that Homer went back to
building rockets. He was the only one in town who didn t believe in Homer and his friends. His father
helped him out when all of Homer s rocket supplies were stolen in Indianapolis the night before the
science fair. His father made him

vehicle with more confidence and ease. Ex: auto parking, navigation system which are standards on
some models.
Economic
Over time the prices of automobiles have become on expensive due to the rise in the inflation rate. In
terms of infrastructural development in the auto industry is one of most demanding fields of business.
One of the major external factors that can affect the price elasticity comes from the oil dependence.
Some other factors that cause shifts in supply price elasticity; are the taxes that the government place
on automotive manufacturers. In addition, to the population figures, and the buying potentiality of the
consumers. Another aspect that can cause an area of concern is the price of steel. Although a lot of
cars produce today are made of fiberglass, steel is still a needed necessary component in the
automotive industry.
On the other hand, in an effort to lower the costs outsourcing of materials, components and services
would increase and technology advancement gap which could lead to drop the prices. The automotive
industry brings significant economic benefits to other countries.

Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them.
Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience.
Being one of Shakespeare s best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re enacted many a times,
be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era, Twelfth Night
has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern audience, with its
applicable themes and endearing characters.

In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up against
Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to be light
hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene to the
previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the
humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of revenge (a serious matter).
Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia s house. In this scene, I would have one small part
of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia s house, and most of the other part
of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia s house. On the outside, there would be a small
pathway up to Olivia s backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with extravagance, for instance,
roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact, has thorns, which threaten at
the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant, with morning glory creeping up.
Morning glory represents beauty that only lasts for an instance. All these run concurrently with Olivia
s personality, and how she is wasting her youth, firstly mourning, and secondly, wooing
Cesario (in actual fact, a female). Through the backdoor, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enter into one the

Fenian Manifesto Thesis Statement
Fenian Manifesto
For this assignment we are to write a 2,000 word, roughly, essay on one of three documents. The
Fenian Manifesto, Parnell s Speech or the Objects of Inghinidhe na hÉireann. I have as such chosen to
do this essay on the 1867 Fenian Manifesto written for the failed Fenian Rising of the same year. I will
be focusing this essay on three specific areas, specifically the 1867 proclamation compared to the
1916 proclamation on religious grounds, secondly the aspect of socialism and how that can be seen in
the Manifesto and finally to whom in society the Manifesto was for and against.
First of all, there is quite the contrast between the 1867 manifesto(Blackboard) and 1916
proclamations (Tnúthghail Ó, 2013) in terms of religion. The ... Show more content on

Video Games And Its Impact On The World
In this era, video games play an important role in leisure and entertaining time in every society.
PlayStation arrived in 1990s, which was the start of modern videogame age and with the entrance and
the development of new technology such as high speed internet, this entertaining segment becomes
more and more accessible and favourable among customers. Today gaming affects billions of people
around the globe and it will continue to grow. The UK games industry was worth close to £3.5bn in
consumer spend in 2013, up 17% from 2012. The forecasted revenue of the industry and the daily time
spent playing video games, make this industry a shining star. The forecasted revenue for video game
console (1 out of 4 segments in videogame industry) will be 55.05 billion US dollars by 2018
(compared to 37.4 billion USD in 2012) (Anon., 2014)and the daily time spent playing video games
per capita in the United States will be 28.3 minutes by 2015 (Anon., 2014). These numbers make this
industry more attractive than its other entertaining competitors. In the Video games Market the final
product, the gaming console is directly associated with brands, as their content and quality generate a
brand image. There are three major brands playing in this ground and no one dares to enter into the

The Between The Scottish And Chinese Products
In January of 2010, Mr. Li Kequiang who was vice premier of the state council of China contacted
Pelamis Wave Power Corporation in Scotland for a visit. The purpose of this visit was to view a
project that converted the kinetic wave energy of the ocean into electrical energy. Li was accompanied
by many senior Chinese officials during this visit, which totaled about sixty people. Two months later
there was a break in of the building Pelamis occupied, and five laptops containing design information

who were the Siemens Corporation, and went straight to Pelamis. A few years later the Chinese

Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research.
One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse
engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive
intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate
relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4].
According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not
appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat corporate
intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It certainly could be
argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an end. Dr. Blenkhorn
notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information gathering in Europe
and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different. To some degree this may
be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply accepted as a means of
holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes ingrained into the culture.
Interestingly, according to Professor Blenkhorn, one of his students from Russia was taught how to
conduct industrial

change due to the loss of slavery and the destruction of the Southern economy, those who had to adjust
the most were the newly freed slaves under the 13th Amendment. The new freemen now had the
opportunity, and the challenges involved, of achieving the American Dream of economic freedom with
the help of the Freedmen s Bureau, Northern Carpetbaggers, and intellectuals such as Paulo Freire,

corruption under his administration but men like Adjutant General Davidson defrauded the state of
more than $37,000 by issuing fraudulent warrants, and fled the state in 1872 (Moneyhon). Very few
instances during Reconstruction do carpetbaggers exercise political corruption and cash in on the
economic turmoil of the Southern economy. Many of the officials appointed over the South during
Reconstruction had it in their best interest to create a stronger Southern economy so the Union could
truly be united again. Even before Edmund J. Davis, Governor E.M. Pease urged the Constitutional
Convention of 1868 1869 to accept radical reconstruction so that Texas could normalize relations with
the Union as soon as possible (Texas State Library and Archives Commission). Unlike the usual view
of carpetbaggers as being corrupt and horrible human beings who wanted to destroy the South for
their own gain, Pease saw it in the best interest for Texas to join the Union as fast as possible. The
faster Texas accepted its punishment and joined the South the faster it can recover economically. Both
Edmund J. Davis and E.M. Pease, carpetbaggers from the North, didn t take advantage of black vote

Introduction Group Behavior is well defined as, situations that allows people to interact in large or

This style of management focuses on using the majority of the time working with and through people.
The working individual now has to become a skillful psychologist, since most of what people do on a
daily basis, is shaping the behavior of others. Whether you are a manger or subordinate, you are only
successful as a group effort if each individual has skills at motivation, interpersonal influence,
working together with peers, good communication with individuals and superiors. Managers are
reflections on each working individual and their style of leadership will determine the quality of
groups they orchestrate to build organizational power, growth and success. New management styles
tend to base their success on feedback from individuals bottom line performance. Management
believes that everyone s performance is important and should be aligned with the organization s
values, vision, and strategic priorities.
The Employees View Today s corporate world calls for effective and efficient working professionals

Analysis Of The Odissi Dance From Dominican Republic

Indian Dance
Due : 6 January 2017
Differences Bring You Closer
For centuries upon centuries, dance has been used as a form as expression. Whether it be religiously to
please and entertain the gods, or as a form of entertainment for the townspeople, dance has brought
joy to countless people. Because dance doesn t leave a written history trail it is assumed, but not
proven, to have originated over 2500 years ago. However, dance continues to evolve even today. Take
for example the odissi dance from India that is almost two thousand years old versus the bachata
dance from Dominican Republic that is only about 50 years old. Both of these dances originated in
complete separate parts of the world at very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odissi dance was held to a very high esteem not only by commoners, for even royalty were expected
to be great dancers of this kind. However, as a sensual dance of great passion, love, and joy, it doesn t
come to be a great surprise that after the 17th century odissi dance took a turn for the worse. The
dancers went from being admired to being known as prostitutes and whores; it was a dark time for
odissi dance as it came very close to being extinct. Nevertheless, India Independence Day marked an
enormous change due the recognition that culture and dance was essential to unifying India once
again. Many individuals then set out to revive odissi dance for the better (Nirmal). Odissi dance has
since then taken on many different forms and has even split into three different schools: mahari,
nartaki, and gotipua. Mahari dance is the traditional form of odissi used in rituals; narthaki dance was
developed in the royal courts; and gotipua dance is the form of odissi where males wear female
costumes and assume those roles (Courtney).
One of the main differences between these dances is the purpose and symbolism. While odissi dance
has been used for entertainment it is a classical temple dance. It is used in rituals and has originally
been created for the Divine, bachata on the other hand is the complete opposite. It symbolizes freedom
from one of the worst dictatorships Dominican Republic has ever seen and a freedom of speech they

Pocahontas and the Mythical Indian Woman Essay
Pocahontas and the Mythical Indian Woman
Pocahontas. Americans know her as the beautiful, Indian woman who fell in love with the white
settler John Smith and then threw her body upon the poor white captive to protect him from being
brutally executed by her own savage tribe. The magical world of Walt Disney came out with their own
movie version several years ago portraying Pocahontas as a tan, sexy Barbie doll figure and John
Smith as a blond haired, blue eyed muscular Ken doll. Although Disney attempts to instill racial
tolerance, inter racial friendship, and nonviolent resolutions in Pocahontas, they contribute to the
inaccurate Indian woman stereotype that has evolved from such stories. While it can be argued that

Barnett explains, a number of unlucky Pocahontas figures populate the frontier romance, saving white
beloveds only at the cost of their own lives (93). Fortunately, Pocahontas s life was spared despite her
willingness to sacrifice, although her later affiliations with a white man and Europe led to her death
from disease. The notion of females rescuing white men and assimilating with their culture have
traditionally been connected, which resulted in greater Indian deaths due to their exposure to a foreign
culture from which they had not yet learned to protect themselves.
On the other hand, these new Native women are not always the primary characters of the fiction, but
their presence is necessary for the text to evolve. Although similarities exist between the mythical
Indian woman and the characters developed in modern fiction, the new portrait being painted of
Native women shows them as strong, spiritual, and powerful, even if they choose to use their power in
a destructive manner. Keeping with tradition, Indian women are still caretakers and healers but while
they keep their positions as saviors of men, Indian women are illustrated saving Indian men rather
than white males. Whereas the Indian women previously saved white men from the savages of their
own tribe, they are now saving their own race from the destruction of the white world. Native women

The Current Model Of Postnatal Care Provision
The Current Model of Postnatal Care Provision
Postnatal services in England are known as the Cinderella service of maternity care, with inadequate
funding leading to a blackened area of care for women following childbirth (Bird, 2014; RCM, 2014).
Furthermore, the National Maternity Review (2016) acknowledged these findings and proposed how
an adequate level of service provision can be achieved, as getting the postnatal period right is crucial
to future maternal and child well being. Furthermore, three of the four studies critiqued within this
theme exploring how the current model of postnatal care that midwives provide to women and their
families influences the quality of the perineal care that is provided, were all in agreement in ... Show

These findings are consistent with data provided by the RCM (2015), with only 32% of midwives
being fully aware of the NICE (2006) postnatal care guideline. This demonstrates that these
inconsistencies in care go further than just inadequate funding, but a clear lack of dissemination of
research into practice. This, unfortunately, leads to a poorer quality of practice as some of the best
evidence available is not informing clinical practice (Cluett, 2006; Ross, 2012; Guerrieri, 2012).
Swain and Dahlen (2013) and East et al, (2012) used surveys to obtain data. Both studies explored the
prevalence of perineal pain in the postnatal period, with Swain and Dahlen (2013) focusing on
whether women s pain can be reduced following the implementation of an evidence based guideline
focusing on the offering of regular pain relief. East et al, (2012) also investigated the pain relieving
effects of analgesia. The use of surveys was appropriate as the data numerical data was collected
(Babbie, 2010). An experimental design would have been ethically incorrect, and, consequently the
findings of the surveys used only demonstrate associations and not causal relationships (Dyson and

surveys use. By performing these measures the author has enhanced the reliability and validity of

Pros And Cons Of Personal Jurisdiction
Personal Jurisdiction also known as jurisdiction in personam is the power of a court to require that a
party or a witness come before the court; extends to the states boarders in the state court system and
across the courts geographic district in the federal system (pg. 42). In this case, there are three states
involved; first is a Internet Company called Funny Face which is based in California, second state
involved is Novelty Now Inc. in Florida who manufactures and distributes the product, the third state
is New York which is where the customer lived that received the faulty product. This product was a
aftershave lotion which had an harmful side effect due to a ingredient that is not FDA approved.
According to the contract between Funny Face and Novelty Now all conflicts must go through the
state of Florida, therefore this case would be under the state of Florida jurisdiction. Subject matter
jurisdiction is a courts power to hear certain kinds of cases (pg44). It determines which court system
will hear a particular case; state jurisdiction, exclusive federal jurisdiction, or concurrent jurisdiction.
The federal court system has exclusive jurisdiction over very few cases including bankruptcy cases,
lawsuits in which one state sues another, and claims against the United States. State court systems
have a bigger range of jurisdiction including all cases not falling under exclusive federal jurisdiction.
Concurrent federal jurisdiction means that both state and federal

Essay on O’ Pioneers! By Willa Carther
O Pioneers! By: Willa Carther
After reading the novel, O Pioneers! it was hard to judge whether it was a tragedy or a triumph. The
only way I see it as a tragedy is that Emil and Maria died. I knew, since page six of the book that they
were going to be together. It kind of broke my heart to see later on that she had married someone else.
But when her and Emil got shot, I thought it may finish as a tragedy. But overall, I would see it as a
triumph in the way that the Bergsons finally got what they wanted out of their land. It made them rich.
Also, Alexandra and Carl finally married. And being that the whole novel was basically based on the
land, they were triumphant in getting what they risked, what they longed for.

In considering Cather s characters, they don t become fully Americanized within a generation. At the
beginning of the novel, it seems like they are more in tuned with the rest of America. They are
economically stable. But when Carl comes back on his first visit, Lou and Oscar scorn him about
burning Wall Street. Obviously, America is building and becoming more advanced. While still in
Nebraska, people are relying on their crops to get them by. They are still dwelling on traits, beliefs,
and actions that past generations had implemented.
Romantic love in this particular novel is very hard to judge whether it is necessary for human
happiness. I don t think that it was meant to be the moral of the story, or that love was the basis of this
particular novel, but I do think that after reading this that it was necessary in order to be happy. Of
course, in one instance, love did end in heartbreak, desolation, and destruction with the scenario of
Emil and Maria. But in every story, there has to be a sad moment or a fatality that occurs. But overall,
it seemed that Alexandra wasn t going to be happy unless Carl came back and she could be with him.
Also, she acted as

Montesquieu Separation Of Power
Charles de Montesquieu To become truly great, one has to stand with people, not above them.
The separation of powers is a doctrine for the administration of both democratic and federative states.
The model was initially created in old Greece and came into broad utilization by the Roman Republic
as a feature of the uncodified Constitution of the Roman Republic. The concept of separation of power
has developed in a few structures at distinctive periods. Its cause is traceable to Aristotle and Plato. In
around seventeenth century, a French thinker John Bodin and a British government official Locke,
communicated their perspectives about the hypothesis of separation of powers. Be that as it may, it
was Montesquieu who surprisingly figured this precept methodically, logically and plainly in his book
Esprit des Lois (The Spirit of the Laws), distributed in the year 1748.
Montesquieu in the following words stated the Doctrine of Separation of Powers
There would be an end of everything, were the same man or same body, whether of the nobles or of
the people, to exercise those three powers, that of enacting laws, that of executing the public
resolutions, and of trying the causes of individuals.
Through his principle Montesquieu attempted to clarify that the union of the executive and ... Show

that when a solitary individual or gathering has a lot of control or power, they can get to be hazardous

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Taylor Swift s Song Blank Space
In musical superstar Taylor Swift s music video for her song Blank Space, she is portraying herself as
the high maintenance and dramatic girlfriend that the media believes she is. The speaker of this text is
the media s perception of Taylor Swift and her message is about the disconnect between who Swift
really is and who the media sees her as. I believe Swift has two purposes for this music video. One is
for her character in the music video to warn her audience about the type of love that boys want, and
the other for real life Taylor herself to poke holes into the media s concept of her love life. The video
is filled with satire and paradoxes to convince us that our idea of Taylor Swift is not an accurate
opinion of her. At the very beginning of the video, we see a young man get out of a car in front of a
massive mansion that appears to be Swift s home. The car he gets ... Show more content on

Starting out with Oh my God, look at that face she is telling us that this character is very superficial
and is only looking at the outside appearance of the young man who is visiting her mansion. You look
like my next mistake, love s a game, want to play? is implying that this guy is just another object to be
had by Swift and another mistake in a long series of mistakes and that love for her is just a game, not
something to be taken seriously. This is exactly the persona that the media portrays Swift as. She has
always been seen as someone who moves on from guy to guy like the whole idea of love is just for fun
without consideration of the other persons feelings. This idea comes from her relationships with other
celebrities and lyrics in her music that go through many of her relationship troubles. Although this is
who she appears to be in real life, she is taking that idea of herself and exaggerating it in the

Atlanta Cemetery Essay
Cemeteries intrigue me, and Oakland is no exception to this interest. After years of constant bypassing
the cemetery in route to school, I first decided to visit around September of my junior year, and

Upon the release of some offender of sex crimes they are to be put on the register when they return to

How Does Katniss Use Food In The Hunger Games
Suzanne Collins wrote the popular series The Hunger Games which became an extremely popular read
for young adults. Collin s novels contain a deeper meaning that is often overlooked unless you are
purposefully searching for it. There are many references to food in the novels, namely bread, that
outlines the sometimes brutal relationship that we have with food and the nature of our entertainment.
The series written by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games, spins an incredible story that surrounds
the main protagonist Katniss Everdeen. The story is set in the dystopian country of Panem where the
rich live lavishly in the Capitol and the poor lead hard lives within the thirteen districts that surround
it. Each district has a designated resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The phrase was coined in Roman times and was used by the Roman Emperors as a manipulation tactic
to diverge revolts that arise from a starving, unhappy populace using food and entertainment. The
Capitol nearly mirrors this policy through the abundant resources and distractions offered to the
wealthy who live within its borders. The difference is that while the Capitol supports the wealthy, they
do nothing for the discord that arises from the starvation in the districts, and instead worsen it for them
with an overpowering hand that controls all the food supply. There is no value placed on food within
the capitol the way there is within the districts, this can be seen within the novels as Katniss and Peeta
are offered pills that will make them puke up the food they ate so that they may indulge in more and
be able to sample all of the dishes offered. This was repulsive to both Peeta and Katniss as nearly
everyone from back home was starving and would do anything to have such unlimited and uncaring
access to food. When they expressed their concerns, the people around them didn t understand their
disgust and instead considered it rude that they wouldn t partake in the custom. The entertainment side
of the phrase is where Collins makes her novels gruesome. The hunger games that the children are put
through are televised across Panem, in both the Capitol and all

Human Resource Department And The Human Resources Department
The Human Resource Department is one of the essential divisions in an organization with a complete
structure. Its function involves maximizing employee performance, improving the company policies,
enhancing the skills of the employees through training, established system in the organization,

Why there is a need of this department? This is because people are the biggest asset of a company that
no one can ever replicate. Thus, they need to be managed, controlled, trained and improved. This is
the birth of Human Resource Department or the HRD.

Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap
In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement
will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid
lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not
because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children
to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the
through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay.
The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the
cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A
gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain
percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an
Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s
earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract,
between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of
the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the
1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen
wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34,
the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same
age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within
the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not
equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time.
Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around
44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get
like this? Is it possible that even with same or

God is our principal concern in life, and no matter how devout the person is. The sudden impact of her
house burning down with her possessions was a very harsh one. We can realize her struggle and pain

most important pieces. When you first turn onto the road to Quadna the first thing noticed is the giant

The Effect Of Heat And Calorimeter On The Heat Capacity
Introduction/ Abstract: As a metal was being heated, the temperature was changing by increasing the
heat capacity. The change of the temperature depended on how much heat was supplied to the metal
and the mass, which could make a difference based on the object being heated. With that said, the
purpose of this experiment, which covered the concepts of heat and calorimeter, was to measure the
specific heat of a metal and to compare the experimental result to the theoretical value of same metal.
Theory:
The relevant theoretical concept and equation used in this experiment were:
∆Q = change in the quantity of heat m = mass of the object
∆T = change in temperature
C = heat capacity
Heat capacity, C, is the quantity of heat needed to raise the system s temperature by one degree.
∵∆Q = C∆T
∴C = ∆Q ∆T
The specific heat, c, of a solid or liquid is to raise the temperature of the substance to some value
which means the the quantity of heat needed to raise the the temperature of a particular substance, a
fixed a mount for a given unit mass. c = Cm
The specific heat of a material can be calculated by combining the above equations to give, c= ∆Qm
∆T
Using conservation of energy, the heat lost by the metal was the same as the one gained by the
water/calorimeter system, mmcm (Tmi − Tf) = mwcw ( Tf− Tw ) + mccc (Tf− Tw ) where we have
assumed that the whole system has the same final temperatureTf and cm was the specific heat of the
metal.
mm = The mass of the metal shot

Embodiment In The Veldt
Bradbury utilizes the veldt as an embodiment in the short story, The Veldt, to warn the audience that
excessive admiration and dependence on technology will ultimately lead to physical and
psychological damages on the development of humans. The future that Bradbury constructs around
the Hadley family fully exaggerated the overall influence of technology on the characters daily life,
thus, ending it with a suspenseful scene further aggravated the seriousness of possible damages done
by the nursery room. The early signs of developmental damages are often the result of excessive
permissiveness. Although the nursery room had cost half again as much as the rest of the house,
(Bradbury 8) George and Lydia still bought it for their children. As widely acknowledged by many
critics, technology can be extravagant and redundant in most cases. Yet, the Hadleys thought it was a
necessity because the kids certainly enjoyed the company of privileged technology that
unconditionally spoils them. Therefore, it was no wonder that Peter and Wendy formed a quick and
intensive relationship with the nursery room as its main occupiers. In addition, George Hadley, similar
in view to his children, was [also] filled with admiration for the mechanical genius who had conceived
this room. He even considers it a miracle of efficiency selling for an absurdly low price, and claims
that every home should have one. (9) Both generations in the story seemed to be wildly fascinated and

Predictive Accuracy And Modelling For Explanatory Power Essay
Through using R, we have created a set of models that help to predict the likelihood of a customer
churning. By working together in the analysis stage we were able to bounce ideas off one another and
grasp a further understanding of the data and customer churn. We created two different models:
modelling for predictive accuracy and modelling for explanatory power. What is our team structure?
In the group we have four team members that consists of three males and one female; Ryan Campion,
Samuel O Connell, Hunter Stewart, and myself, Hannah Lowe. We ve all worked really well together.
Everyone has contributed and we have managed to meet the allocated times set to doing this
assignment. There has been no group issues, or any person putting in any less effort than the other. In
the analysis stage we tackled it as a group: we didn t work as individuals. We worked on one computer
and used the lab work we had done prior to aid us with our models. The reason for this is that we were
confused slightly as how to read the models from the start; by discussing it with one another we were
able to grasp a better concept of what we were looking for. In the reporting stage we all worked
independently, within our own time frame. There was a discussion on the findings from the data,
which is in our reports, but in our own words. The presentation was worked on collectively. I

These families may have moved to the United States from a foreign country and are unfamiliar with
the education system or some may hold different values about education. Many families from different
countries are not aware of the special education process and enter an IEP meeting expecting the usual

room. These parents could greatly benefit from receiving background information or watching a video
explaining the process before attending their first IEP meeting (Lo, 2012).
As our schools are becoming increasingly diverse, professionals are working more with families who
speak languages different from their own. When working with families who speak a native language it
is important that they are able to understand what is being said during an IEP meeting, which often

Difference Between Reasonable Suspicion And Probable Cause
Chapter 5 1. Answer the Chapter Review Questions 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11. 1. Compare and contrast
reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is a reasonable likelihood that a crime
has been, is being, or will be committed. It is a reasonable belief based on facts or circumstances and
is informed by a police officer s training and experience. Reasonable suspicion is seen as more than a
guess or hunch but is less than probable cause. Probable cause is the logical belief, supported by facts
and circumstances, which a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. The difference between the
two are the fact that probable cause has evidence or is fact based whereas reasonable suspicion is a
hunch. 5. Compare and contrast the Aguilar Spinelli test with the totality of circumstances test in

I myself am very dedicated to music and I love to play the piano and learn and play all types of music.
I remember when I was a little girl I would sneak out of classes and go to the music room where there
was a piano and just play all of her music. For me, it was a way to get away from everything I was
going through. Her music was deep and had meaning to every single word in the lyrics. To me, that
was all I needed. I would do research on her and see what she would be doing and her interests and we
were just interested in the same kinds of things. She was and always will be my biggest idols. When I
was younger, I always longed to go to her concert and sit in the audience and just feel her music in
me. By freshman year, I finally got tickets to see her and it was the most amazing experience ever. It
meant so much to me that I was actually in tears while she was singing live and it felt so perfect. A
few years later, my senior year, I went to go see her again. And this time it was an even better feeling.
Her drive and determination to help anyone in her path is what touches me and makes me want to do
the same things for my community and everyone around me.

Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them Choose 2 scenes in Twelfth Night and state how you would direct them. Discuss some of the challenges you might face in directing the play to a modern audience. Being one of Shakespeare s best romantic comedies, Twelfth Night has been re enacted many a times, be it during Elizabethan times, or in modern times. Although set in the Elizabethan era, Twelfth Night has its charms. And indeed, it proves to be relevant and intimate to a modern audience, with its applicable themes and endearing characters. In directing a play of such mannerism, one would have to consider many factors affecting the overall effect of the play, and how it brings forth its true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, here, Maria starts to plot against Malvolio, and together this group of friends gang up against Malvolio, getting back at him for his rudeness towards them. In this scene, it is meant to be light hearted and retain its essence of comedy and humour, so as to serve as a contrasting scene to the previous (which was more serious). Hence, this scene should bring forth and emphasize on the humour, and at the same time, portray a sense of revenge (a serious matter). Overall, the setting of this scene would be in Olivia s house. In this scene, I would have one small part of the stage (left to the audience) to be seen as the outside of Olivia s house, and most of the other part of the stage (right to the audience), the inside of Olivia s house. On the outside, there would be a small pathway up to Olivia s backdoor. The pathway would be decorated with extravagance, for instance, roses. Roses symbolises a beautiful outer appearance, but in actual fact, has thorns, which threaten at the same while (hidden intentions). There should be a simple plant, with morning glory creeping up. Note that the terms of corporate and industrial espionage are used interchangeably in my research. One may wonder what the roots of competitive intelligence, intellectual espionage, and reverse engineering are. On the surface, it may seem clear that there is a distinction between competitive intelligence and corporate espionage. One is gained legally, as a means of retaining corporate relevance, while the other is gained illegally and at in some cases in an indignant fashion [4]. According to David Blenkhorn, a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, this topic is not appropriately discussed in universities today. It is not clear or obvious how one should treat corporate intelligence ethically, as cultural viewpoints skew the morality of the situation. It certainly could be argued that this information gathering is a necessary and sufficient means to an end. Dr. Blenkhorn notes that there is a generally accepted ethical view with respect to information gathering in Europe and North America, but in other countries, this perspective is quite different. To some degree this may be a normalization of deviance, where over time, such actions are simply accepted as a means of holding a business or national security edge, and thus over time becomes ingrained into the culture. The dancers went from being admired to being known as prostitutes and whores; it was a dark time for odissi dance as it came very close to being extinct. Nevertheless, India Independence Day marked an enormous change due the recognition that culture and dance was essential to unifying India once again. Many individuals then set out to revive odissi dance for the better (Nirmal). Odissi dance has since then taken on many different forms and has even split into three different schools: mahari, nartaki, and gotipua. Mahari dance is the traditional form of odissi used in rituals; narthaki dance was developed in the royal courts; and gotipua dance is the form of odissi where males wear female costumes and assume those roles (Courtney). One of the main differences between these dances is the purpose and symbolism. While odissi dance has been used for entertainment it is a classical temple dance. It is used in rituals and has originally been created for the Divine, bachata on the other hand is the complete opposite. This, unfortunately, leads to a poorer quality of practice as some of the best evidence available is not informing clinical practice (Cluett, 2006; Ross, 2012; Guerrieri, 2012). The model was initially created in old Greece and came into broad utilization by the Roman Republic as a feature of the uncodified Constitution of the Roman Republic. The concept of separation of power has developed in a few structures at distinctive periods. Its cause is traceable to Aristotle and Plato. In around seventeenth century, a French thinker John Bodin and a British government official Locke, communicated their perspectives about the hypothesis of separation of powers. Be that as it may, it was Montesquieu who surprisingly figured this precept methodically, logically and plainly in his book Esprit des Lois (The Spirit of the Laws), distributed in the year 1748. The phrase was coined in Roman times and was used by the Roman Emperors as a manipulation tactic to diverge revolts that arise from a starving, unhappy populace using food and entertainment. The Capitol nearly mirrors this policy through the abundant resources and distractions offered to the wealthy who live within its borders. The difference is that while the Capitol supports the wealthy, they do nothing for the discord that arises from the starvation in the districts, and instead worsen it for them with an overpowering hand that controls all the food supply. There is no value placed on food within the capitol the way there is within the districts, this can be seen within the novels as Katniss and Peeta are offered pills that will make them puke up the food they ate so that they may indulge in more and be able to sample all of the dishes offered. This was repulsive to both Peeta and Katniss as nearly everyone from back home was starving and would do anything to have such unlimited and uncaring access to food. When they expressed their concerns, the people around them didn t understand their disgust and instead considered it rude that they wouldn t partake in the custom. The entertainment side of the phrase is where Collins makes her novels gruesome. The hunger games that the children are put through are televised across Panem, in both the Capitol and all ... • 27. Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay. The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract, between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the 1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34, the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time. Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around 44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. In her poem, Anne Bradstreet depicts how sensibility in one s mind can be heavily disturbed by material dispossession even when God is our principal concern in life, and no matter how devout the person is. The sudden impact of her house burning down with her possessions was a very harsh one. We can realize her struggle and pain through the event by how her poem reflects with grief and sorrow, in lines 8 10, she begs God not to leave her helpless. I would then leap from the shower and begin brushing my teeth as I would also be trying to dry myself off. Rushing as fast as I could. I would grab my giant red bag filled with riding gear and check through it frantically one last time to be sure I had everything. Then my Pa and I would be off to the greatest place on earth; the racetrack. More specifically the practice track, that was raced on about two times a year. The track was formally known as Quadna Mountain Park. I referred to the track as Quadna like many other riders. Quadna played an important piece in the puzzle of my racing career. Along with my families support and my own drive and desire, Quadna was one of the most important pieces. When you first turn onto the road to Quadna the first thing noticed is the giant oval sign with the letters QMP in blue with mountains set behind the letters in the background. As we passed the sign on the left side of the road, we would always look to our right at the aged and faded gray hotel that some of the racers would stay in to see which racers were there at the time. After we would go past the hotel we would take a right onto a dirt road that went into what seemed like thick woods. When the trees were full of snow it looked like a winter wonderland. • 31. The Effect Of Heat And Calorimeter On The Heat Capacity Introduction/ Abstract: As a metal was being heated, the temperature was changing by increasing the heat capacity. The change of the temperature depended on how much heat was supplied to the metal and the mass, which could make a difference based on the object being heated. With that said, the purpose of this experiment, which covered the concepts of heat and calorimeter, was to measure the specific heat of a metal and to compare the experimental result to the theoretical value of same metal. Theory: The relevant theoretical concept and equation used in this experiment were: ∆Q = change in the quantity of heat m = mass of the object ∆T = change in temperature C = heat capacity Heat capacity, C, is the quantity of heat needed to raise the system s temperature by one degree. ∵∆Q = C∆T ∴C = ∆Q ∆T The specific heat, c, of a solid or liquid is to raise the temperature of the substance to some value which means the the quantity of heat needed to raise the the temperature of a particular substance, a fixed a mount for a given unit mass. c = Cm The specific heat of a material can be calculated by combining the above equations to give, c= ∆Qm ∆T Using conservation of energy, the heat lost by the metal was the same as the one gained by the water/calorimeter system, mmcm (Tmi − Tf) = mwcw ( Tf− Tw ) + mccc (Tf− Tw ) where we have assumed that the whole system has the same final temperatureTf and cm was the specific heat of the metal. mm = The mass of the metal shot ... • 32. Embodiment In The Veldt Bradbury utilizes the veldt as an embodiment in the short story, The Veldt, to warn the audience that excessive admiration and dependence on technology will ultimately lead to physical and psychological damages on the development of humans. The future that Bradbury constructs around the Hadley family fully exaggerated the overall influence of technology on the characters daily life, thus, ending it with a suspenseful scene further aggravated the seriousness of possible damages done by the nursery room. The early signs of developmental damages are often the result of excessive permissiveness. Although the nursery room had cost half again as much as the rest of the house, (Bradbury 8) George and Lydia still bought it for their children. As widely acknowledged by many critics, technology can be extravagant and redundant in most cases. Yet, the Hadleys thought it was a necessity because the kids certainly enjoyed the company of privileged technology that unconditionally spoils them. Therefore, it was no wonder that Peter and Wendy formed a quick and intensive relationship with the nursery room as its main occupiers. In addition, George Hadley, similar in view to his children, was [also] filled with admiration for the mechanical genius who had conceived this room. He even considers it a miracle of efficiency selling for an absurdly low price, and claims that every home should have one. • 33. Predictive Accuracy And Modelling For Explanatory Power Essay Through using R, we have created a set of models that help to predict the likelihood of a customer churning. By working together in the analysis stage we were able to bounce ideas off one another and grasp a further understanding of the data and customer churn. We created two different models: modelling for predictive accuracy and modelling for explanatory power. What is our team structure? In the group we have four team members that consists of three males and one female; Ryan Campion, Samuel O Connell, Hunter Stewart, and myself, Hannah Lowe. We ve all worked really well together. Everyone has contributed and we have managed to meet the allocated times set to doing this assignment. There has been no group issues, or any person putting in any less effort than the other. In the analysis stage we tackled it as a group: we didn t work as individuals. We worked on one computer and used the lab work we had done prior to aid us with our models. The reason for this is that we were confused slightly as how to read the models from the start; by discussing it with one another we were able to grasp a better concept of what we were looking for. In the reporting stage we all worked independently, within our own time frame. There was a discussion on the findings from the data, which is in our reports, but in our own words. The presentation was worked on collectively. I organised the parts that were to be discussed, these areas were the distributed to other members. We all wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare and contrast reasonable suspicion and probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is a reasonable likelihood that a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. It is a reasonable belief based on facts or circumstances and is informed by a police officer s training and experience. Reasonable suspicion is seen as more than a guess or hunch but is less than probable cause. Probable cause is the logical belief, supported by facts and circumstances, which a crime has been, is being, or will be committed. The difference between the two are the fact that probable cause has evidence or is fact based whereas reasonable suspicion is a hunch. 5.
