Connie Francis Essay
Welcome to an era filled with sock hops, diners, and poodle skirts. But that s not all! Arguably the
most important aspect of the 1950 s was that it was also a time filled with the newly evolved genre of
rock n roll , a type of music that resulted from a combination of rhythm and blues, gospel music,
country, and jazz. Rock and roll completely revolutionized musical tastes and essentially changed the
world, especially among the youth. Suddenly all across the nation, teenagers were able to listen to this
new music and rebel from their parents in ways that they never could before. There are many artists
that made enormous impacts on rock and roll music in the fifties, and one such significant artist was
named Connie Francis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1958, she continued to produce another string of hits including Stupid Cupid , Everybody s
Somebody s Fool , My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own , and Don t Break the Heart that Loves You ,
which all came in at number one. Her hit singles continue to be popular today among many audiences.
Connie Francis truly left an amazing impact on rock and roll music. She is essentially the prototype
for the female pop singers of present day. She paved the way for women in the fifties to sing rock and
roll with the boys, and was unique as a female artist in that she made record sales equal to or
exceeding her male singing counterparts. Her music styling had quite a range, including big band,
country, ethnic, folk, and many other types. Interestingly, Francis actually still challenges one of today
s pop stars, Madonna, as the biggest selling female recording artist of all time.
Despite many hardships in Francis life, including a rape, many divorces, and the brutal murder of her
brother, she continues to sing across the world today. Over the course of her life she has recorded over
seventy LPs and starred on many TV shows and movies, as well. Though she was never inducted into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her impact on the rock and roll music industry during the 1950 s

The Pros And Cons Of Homeschooling
Parents are typically held accountable for making decisions on how their child is raised, what rules
will be implemented, curfews, punishments, and nevertheless, their education. When it comes to
education, parents are responsible in deciding where their children will be educated and this decision
includes some enticing options. The topic of homeschooling has indisputably been up for debate in
many eras, cultures, and locations. Ari Neuman and Oz Guterman (2016) state that the question relics,
which educational strategy is more effective, which is better? Since every child benefits from being
educated, the way in which their education is delivered is under substantial examination since every
individual has their own opinion as to what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two counterpart choices in education have been an ongoing controversy for such an extended
amount time due to the concernment of what effects a child gaining his or her education in the comfort
of their own home rather than a more engaged learning environment. Some argue that homeschooling
is so controversial due to the issues of socialization or lack there of, time and financial constraints on
the family and/or parents, and it simply being less effective and enforced than that of the alternative,
public school, in terms of academic achievement and overall stature, (Martin Chang, Gould, Meuse,
2011). Additionally, traditional schooling is shown to provide more educational opportunities and
important personal interactions between peers and teachers. (Korkmaz and Duman, 2014). On the
contrary however, others argue that homeschooling raises greater academic achievement, creates
strong familial and parent child bonds, has the potential to build greater self motivation and a sense of
responsibility, while potentially keeping children out of harms way whether that be bad peer
influences, bullying, drugs and alcohol.
As we know, homeschooling rates are rising as the years go on. Researchers Martin Chang, Gould and
Meuse exclaim that there are currently more than 1.5 billion children being homeschooled in the
United States alone, taken from the National Center for Education Statistics from 2008.

Russian Revolution And The Soviet Revolution
For over three hundred years, Russia had been controlled by an autocratic government known as the
tsarist regime. This empire was ruled by a series of tsars who had absolute dictatorship over the
country. (BBC, 2014). From around the time of Peter the Great s reign, the empire began to impose its
will on the people with absolute disregard for their lives and liberty. This incorporation of force
caused repression and unrest amongst the people and the Russian Revolution was essentially an
outburst from this. (Columbia Encyclopedia, n.d). The Russian Revolution consisted of two separate
strikes in 1917, the first of which overthrew the imperial government and the second strike which
placed the Bolshevik party in power. The Russian Revolution evidently brought a drastic
transformation to the government, society and economy of Russia. The communist party who took
power over Russia did evidently improve the economy and reshape the military forces which proved
vital for Russia in WW2. (Quizlet, 2015). Overall, the Russian Revolution was beneficial to the
country s development. Today, in modern history we credit Vladimir Lenin for the Revolution s
succession. However, many people forget to acknowledge the role played by Leon Trotsky who stood
by Lenin s side throughout the Revolution. I believe that Leon Trotsky and his actions during the
Russian Revolution were essential to the security of the revolution and therefore his overall impact
and status is heroic.

Oil And Gas Maintain A Critical Role For Uae Industry And...
Oil and gas maintain a critical role for UAE industry and daily life for locals. However, the
government has put forth major efforts to increase their renewable energy capacity. They have also
focused on diversifying their economy so they aren t reliant on exporting oil and natural gas for
income. With the various complex construction projects in Dubai such as the Palm Islands or the Burj
Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper in the world, engineering and real estate have become major industries
in the country. UAE efforts to shift toward renewable energy, mostly constrained to the emirate Abu

It is similarly structured to the Cabinet of the United States with different departments such as the
Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Labor, etc. In order to choose the head of this branch, which is the
prime minister, the president appoints someone who is then approved by the Supreme Council; once
chosen, the prime minister then proposes the Cabinet, which the president must approve and ratify.
Additionally, there is the Federal National Council. This body of government is somewhat similar to
Congress where they represent a voice for the citizens and create laws which the Supreme Council
authorizes or rejects. Political disputes, not only in the host country, but also in neighboring countries
can greatly affect the success of business. So when discussing political disputes and risks you must
consider a wide variety of events. The nuclear crisis in Iran is an event that must be considered when
assessing the environment around the UAE. Recently, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has
been signed by the representatives from the P5+1 (the five permanent powers of the UN Security
Council and Germany) powers and Iran, which requires Iran to remove large numbers of centrifuges
from different nuclear sites. Even though steps have been taken in the right direction to ease tensions
on this issue, there is always the chance that something similar to this could arise again. Another thing

Who Is Andrew Jackson A Good President
It is hard to argue that any president of the United States has made no mistakes; however, Andrew
Jackson left a long lasting impact on presidency campaigns and made it what it is today. In reference
to the Great President Model Lecture, Jackson falls under the category of being great for multiple
reasons; one is being that he had served more than one term, another that he accomplished something
of long term importance and significance. In the two terms he had served, he had forever changed the
way campaigns are held. Jackson had a very bias opinion and somewhat of a short temper. Since he
was president, he often times made rash decisions without having others opinions and that upset many
people. Andrew Jackson was a very independent man and thought he could make many decisions on
his own without the input from others. What one may consider ... Show more content on

and that drew residents into him and got him liked even more. He always reached out to make sure
what he was doing would satisfy others and be the best decision for everyone. He also used his power
to veto bills that he considered were not necessary or harmful to the states. During Jackson s two
terms as president, he vetoed twelve bills, which no president has been able to get close to that. He

The Goddesses Of War In Greek Mythology
Goddesses of War Throughout different types of mythology, there are similarities and differences
between goddesses of war. In Greek mythology, Athena is the goddess of war. However, in Norse
mythology, the power of war lies in the hands of many different people, including Freya and the
Valkyries. When looking at the aspects of each, there is closeness between the different branches.
Regardless, there are still noticeable differences, which can be exemplified by Athena, Freya, and the
Valkyries. Athena, the goddess of war in Greek mythology, is perhaps one of the most well known
goddesses in mythology. She is most commonly known for being the goddess of war, wisdom, and
crafts, and she was a virgin goddess ( Athena ). According to old myths, ... Show more content on

strong desire for it, she said yes to the deal (Gardner 533). This is not uncommon for a goddess to
agree to something like this. In many types of mythology, it is typical for gods and goddesses to
behave this way. However, Freya s plan backfired when Odin (father of the gods) came up with a plan
to steal the necklace from her (Gardner 533). He agreed to give it back as long as she brought war

Leonid Afremov’s Painting, Alley by the Lake
Secure romantic relationships are based on trust and understanding. They are developed over time and
tend to last the longest; however, just because a couple feels secure doesn t mean the couple is
necessarily happy. While every healthy relationship shines with rays of trust and happiness, shadows
often lurk filled with lies and deceit. A painting, entitled Alley by the Lake, by Leonid Afremov
portrays the secure, yet secret, side to relationships.
Happiness holds relationships together. Finding someone who makes feelings arise, plastering a
smiling on one s face, draws any person in. It s the warmth one wants and the intensity one longs for.
Without this feeling, there is no reason to become involved. There would be no relational ... Show

Reds and oranges are colors that one links with warmth and feeling. The warm colors in the painting
represent the love that is present which ultimately connects back to intimacy and companionship.
Emotional security takes the longest to develop. It s putting one s full trust into the relationship. A
study was done where adults, involved in a romantic relationship, were asked to take a questionnaire.
The questionnaire focused on how emotionally secure a partner was in their relationship. They related
these findings back to infant mother research that was previously concluded by other researchers.
These researchers also blamed the outcome of their experiment, where 56% felt emotionally secure in
their relationships, on prior love experiences (Hazan Shaver, 1987, p. 511 515). This study further
proves how difficult it is for a couple to reach emotional security, after having immoral past love
experiences. While the painting cannot easily express this aspect of happiness, the couple walking arm
in arm in an empty park shows the safety they feel with one another.
Beyond happiness, as the romantic relationship evolves, and the peak of the happiness fades, trust can
start to falter. Secrets form and lies build. These secrets start small, but they can grow. A study, whose
focus was on the sexual betrayal by a romantic partner despite an agreement to be monogamous

Why I Am An Effective Teacher Essay
Great teachers are rare, are you an Effective Teacher
It has been stated that teaching is a craft and a highly skilled craft that can be learned. What is
consider to be an effective teacher? To keep this as simple as possible I could name a ton of attributes,
but to name just a few I would say an educator that knows how to dress for success or maybe someone
that has their classroom ready for learning, or even someone that knows how to create effective
assignments for their students. Also a great teacher has a love for learning, has high expectations for
each and every one of their students and even collaborates with colleagues on an ongoing basis.
Chelonnda Seroyer spent two months poring through The First Day of School and using it as a guide
for organizing for her first day of school. When the first day of school came, she had a script. She had
a classroom management plan.(iii) Effective teachers are supportive and understand the importance of
why students need good teachers to have personality, knowledge and compassion.
Teachers have a significant role in influencing the lives of young children. With this duty comes great
pride and pleasure. Therefore, all educators should strive to be good and effective teachers. Teachers
are people that can change the lives of many. Just by being allowed to sit in a classroom that has been
created to enhance the knowledge and intelligence of people can be life changing. Effective teachers
have positive expectations for their students

Argumentative Essay On Fake News
Believe Nothing, Question Everything Bat child found in cave! Elvis is alive! Titanic survivors found
onboard! These are all examples of headlines you may have seen in a nineties supermarket magazine
such as The Weekly World News or The National Enquirer. These classic fake news magazines had
and still have a cult following Most readers of these magazines enjoy the cheesiness of them and are
well aware of their lack of validity. Now fake news appears on our social media outlets. Many of the
perpetrators of fake news don t try to hide it and a quick look at their domain name will be a dead
giveaway. However, some individuals would rather disguise their domain to look like a reputable
source such as CBS or NPR. Something must be done about this problem, fake news has the potential
to shape opinions and control politics. Think of the Edgar Allan Poe quote believe nothing you hear
and only half of what you see . This statement reigns more true today than ever before. In this world
of fake news, it is the responsibility of the reader to separate truth from fiction. So why do people
write fake news? Some articles seem to be written specifically out of boredom and for the
entertainment of its readers. These articles should be specified as satire but are at times written as if
they were legitimate news stories. These are generally far fetched and can be disproven with a quick
google search if that is even necessary. The next reason is a bit more ominous: to stir panic and push

The Dirty Jobs And The American Workforce
The Dirty Jobs Among the many controversial issues surrounding immigration, both legal and illegal,
the role that immigrant workers play in the American workforce is one of the most controversial.
Many argue that illegal immigrant workers are stealing jobs that would otherwise be held by U.S.
citizens, while others claim that no matter the availability of these kinds of jobs, American workers
would not participate in this kind of dirty work. There are two sides to the argument, but one thing can
be agreed upon by all parties discussing the issue of dirty jobs and the American workforce: there
must be a solution. The problem that most thinkers are then faced with is the multitude of suggestions
for solutions to this problem, as well as the many complexities of the situation that must be accounted
for. While pointing out the many problems surrounding the workforce and these supposedly dirty jobs,
pointing out specific, plausible solutions is a much more difficult task. In comparing Alaskan crab
fisherman earning six figure salaries and migrant laborers in Alabama barely receiving minimum
wage, Chris Ladd presents a great argument, along with useful examples, and a clear solution to the
problem. Immigrant workers are willing to do the least desirable work for a much smaller reward than
others in the American workforce due largely to their situation and need for work and to eliminate the
gap between what American workers are willing to do and what immigrant workers are

Summer Break Research Paper
Why should schools summer vacation stay the same? Some educators believe that summer break is
too long and we won t remember what we have been taught. Unlike them most students enjoy summer
break and do not want it to end. Long summers provide us with relaxation, more sleep, and extra time
to go to different places. Therefore, why should summer break be shortened?
With all these hot summer days, it lets us have time to sit down and watch a movie. Relaxation is one
of the best factors about long summer breaks. You re able to go out and get a facial without having to
schedule it on a certain day and certain time. You work on your time not anyone else s. You re able to

Cyber Surveillance And Intrusion Detection System Essay
Abstract
In this era of technology, everything is available at just one click; Security is a big issue when we talk
about networks. Hackers and intruders are getting smarter. There are various methods to secure the
network infrastructure and communication over the Internet, for example firewalls, encryption, and
virtual private networks. Intrusion detection is a relatively new approach to such techniques. By using
intrusion detection, we can collect and use information from known types of attacks and find out if
someone is trying to attack the network/host.
Keywords: intrusion detection system
I. Introduction
Intrusions are the activities that violate the security policy of system. Intruders may be from outside
the network or legitimate users of the network. Intrusion can be a physical, system or remote intrusion.
Intrusion Detection is the process used to identify intrusions i.e. a piece of software that monitors a
computer system or network resources to detect malicious activities unauthorized attempts to use the
system or abuse of existing privileges in a network or on a host system. It identifies and stops attacks
in progress and conducts forensic analysis once attack is over. It detects intrusions and attacks that
were not stopped by preventative techniques (firewalls, packet filtering routers, proxy servers. In this
whole approach, determining who is much harder than just detecting that an intrusion occurred.

Why Mexico And Not Canada
How do people feel when something completely biased is not in their favor? When people are
specifically targeted against for doing nothing wrong, is a horrible feeling. This is what happens every
day to Mexicans. Mexicans are practically hated if they try to come in our country compared to the
Canadians we enjoy having. People are shocked with the eye opening question, why Mexico and not
Canada . This is not because Mexicans are any worse but because there is a stereotype problem. . . .
This is a major problem buried in our country about the unjust discrepancy between the acceptance of
Mexican and Canadian Immigrants. . . This discrepancy is a biased view about what immigrants can
come into the U.S. It is huge problem how blatant racism in America is (insert ). . . News stories flash
about more border patrol agents going to protect our Mexican American border are on all of the time.
People receive a false feeling that Mexican immigrants are horrible. On the other side, we hear little
about our neighbor north of us. There is no focus on them because the U.S already feels the only
problem is Mexico. This places judgment about not being as good as the Canadians. This because a
problem of fairness; it is unfair. Mexicans are blamed for the bulk of why U.S. has immigration
problems. A study at the Migration Policy Institute shows immigrants are 13 percent of the American
population (INSERT ). Of this, less than two percent is made up of Hispanics. I conducted my own

therapists today. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is another popular theory that is used. It emphasizes
the present and fixing cognitive distortions that clients may have. However, it too received some
arguments against it, such as; treating symptoms and not the underlying cause of an illness. The

He also believed that the need for defense mechanisms stems from childhood (Rogers, 1962).
Children are taught conditional positive regard. When parents need to correct a child s behavior, love
is usually withheld. They are taught to hide faults and weaknesses rather than accepting them.
However, through unconditional positive regard individuals may know that they are loved
unconditionally. By acceptance I mean a warm regard for him as a person of unconditional self worth
of value no matter what his condition, his behavior, or his feelings (Rogers, 1961). Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses maladaptive thinking and feelings in individuals. It was
originally developed to treat depression and anxiety but is now used for many different disorders. It is
a very effective type of therapy because it is time limited. The amount of sessions is usually between
four and fourteen. CBT focuses on schemas or core beliefs which are usually negative thoughts like I
m worthless or I m not loveable (Beck, 1970).
In order to treat cognitive distortions the negative thoughts need to be addressed. First, the individual
needs to recognize idiosyncratic cognitions . Next, they will need to distance themselves in order to be
objective. Lastly, they may correct cognitive distortions and deficiencies by identifying what type of
faulty thinking they may engage in The different types of faulty thinking are; arbitrary inference,

Whales do not have our names on, so what makes people think it is acceptable to eat them, sell them

Baleen are the largest species of whale.
With whales being the largest animals on planet, killing them is not an easy task with this making
many people more encouraged to kill. Whales breathe air into lungs like all animals and are also warm

consumption of whale meat. The Japanese kill many different types of whales for example, 200 minke
whales, 100 sei whales, 50 bryde s and 10 sperm whales under scientific research. There is also
Norway, which didn t respect the IWC ban until 1993 as they continued hunting for minke whales.
Norway has a fixed number of whalers its whalers are permitted to kill for commercial reasons.
However, this number has rose from 671 in 2002, to more than 1,00 today. Norway are currently
hunting a higher amount of female minke whales in the North Atlantic which could put their long term
survival in severe danger. Iceland is another country which has had and still does whaling. Like Japan,
they conducted a scientific whaling programme and later it withdrew from the IWC. Iceland later re
joined in 2004 and they spoke out in the objection of the whaling moratorium. Iceland targeted minke

One reason that children should play competitive sports at a young age, because then they are less
likely to do drugs and alcohol. For example, Top 10 Health Benefits of Youth Sports says It is well

involved in drugs and alcohol activity. Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, had a very big speech

referrals can be used for current and new customers as the programs is employed and continues to

costs, companies are better of focusing attention on their more loyal customers especially since the top

it negatively affected the economy (Coricelli). In joining the European Union, the United Kingdom

The results of the referendum were staggering, as the citizens of the United Kingdom vocalized their

attitude towards state borders, would open the gate to continuous immigration and taint the cultural
identity of the United Kingdom. Britains in support of Brexit believe in this idea of immigration being
the root of the problem with the EU. In the midst of the financial crash of 2008, the entire Eurozone

the UK for financial compensation in the form of jobs (Lee). In 2015 the United Kingdom took about
330,000 new people into the state, living and working among the people already established there
(Lee). A professor at London s School of Economics states in regards to immigration affecting the
Brexit vote, that there s a feeling that we re losing our cultural identity and our national identity he
also hypothesizes that so many cultures impending in one place mixed with an influx of people willing
to work for low wages drives the above feeling home, into the lives of native citizens of the UK
(Taub). When people who come into the country are willing to work for less money stay and find jobs,

Description Of The Barn Cats Essay
Scenario:
It s autumn and, just like any other season, you re hard at work at your barn. Your barn cats are hard at
work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay. In a
brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked skin. One
of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands through her fur.
Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face, but you chalk it up to
the weather and get back to work.
A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus like sores on your hands. They re inflamed and red
and suddenly you re reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more
thorough once over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It s easy enough
to find her; she s resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. She
appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your approach, but you
immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected.
Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps while
others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty and
flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying
infection, they need to be treated before they get worse

The Last Mohicans Conflict Essay
Conflicts in The Last Mohicans From the first chapter in James Fenimore Cooper s Leatherstocking
Tale The Last Mohicans the evidence of extreme conflict between multiple parties is glaringly
obvious. The struggle between the wilderness of the American country and those who endeavored to
tame it, the clash between the French and the Colonials/British over the new world territory, the
emulation between the various tribes of Indians, and the conflict between the main heroes and villains
of the story are all very prevalent in this historic novel. James Cooper shows how the conflicts
between these very different groups of people and nature itself has a predominate effect on all who are
involved. Cooper s descriptions of the North American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to many a battle in which the Indians and Europeans participated. The bloodiest conflict of
these was the massacre after the fall of Fort William Henry. The initial conflict that sparked the
slaughter after the British had surrendered and abandoned the fort was that between an Indian from the
Heron tribe, (They are allies of the French), and a mother with a baby leaving the fort. The inhabitants
of the fort had been allowed to leave in a procession, but the gaudy colors of a shawl (180) attracted
the eye of a young Heron. He tried to seize it from the mother and when she held it away, he took her
babe instead. She then attempted to give the shawl to him, but now uncaring, he dashed the head of
the baby against a rock and killed the mother with a tomahawk. Then the Herons leapt upon the
previous occupants of the fort and killed them, scalped them, and drank their blood. ...many among
them even kneeled to the earth, and drank freely, exultingly, hellishly, of the crimson tide (182). In
describing this, Cooper shows the brutal nature of some of the Indians and what happens in the
conflicts between them and their enemies. Also the French did not try to stop this act, so it is perceived
that they knew about it and it was planned along. This is proof of the hatred of the French against the
English, by using their Indian allies to commit this act of terror. These

Essay on Suffering from Sleep Disorder
He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the

The American Dream And The American Dream
The answer to the question of whether or not the American Dream of owning a home is alive and well
among Millenials is a resounding Yes! According to the National Association of Realtors, one
consistent finding is that for the last four years homebuyers 36 years and younger is the largest share
of homebuyers at 34 percent! Although Millenials have experienced the Great Recession, it evidently
has not dampened their enthusiasm for home buying. It s possible that the older Millenials may have
at first been reluctant and that they have delayed home buying until a little later in life, but they are
certainly on board now! I am a senior in college, and I was born in 1995 so I m considered a Millenial.
For me personally, home ownership is a worthwhile goal. I don t intend to buy a home until I have
graduated from college, have decided where I want to live, and I have my dream job. I think
Millenials are cautious about financial matters, but I also think that can be a great advantage.
Generally we don t rush into decisions without a great deal of thought and analysis. That means that
when we do buy a home, we are financially and emotionally prepared and less likely to lose that home
due to foreclosure It s easy to understand why home ownership is considered a major component of
the American Dream. As a college senior looking toward graduation, I understand that owning a home
can mean independence from my landlord, a statement that I have arrived or succeeded,

Gender, Employment, And Career Advancement
In the US, there have been considerable efforts to bring gender equity in the domains of education,
employment and career advancement. However, several occupations are still highly gender segregated
(ACLU, 2013). It has been found that the choices of such occupations could be shaped during early
childhood through gendered socialization. Playing with dolls is an important factor in the gender
socialization process. Dolls boost the cultural ideals that are linked to the place of girls in the society.
Barbie dolls tend to send negative images to young girls since they illuminate a fancy sexual figure
that seems unattainable (Grade, Ward Hyde, 2008). There is limited data on the negative effects this
doll has on the gender socialization of girls. This experiment seeks to assess whether experimentally
controlling girls interaction with Barbie dolls when compared to a neutral doll influences their
developmental ideas about who they want to be in the future.
Gender is a socially constructed concept and it denotes the behavior and characteristics associated
with either men or women (Sherman Zurbriggen, 2014). Different studies have shown that the
comprehension and acceptance of gender roles commence at a very early age (Sherman Zurbriggen,
2014). Playing with dolls or toys has been found to influence gender roles in kids. Play with Barbie
dolls is a significant source of gendered socialization because it conveys a sexualized adult to young
girls. However, research focusing on

Gangsta Rap And Its Impact On The Rap Game
You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge (Rob,2002). Gangsta rap, music s
biggest rebellion formed from this street knowledge. In a pop world where rap was still considered a
novelty, it was a serious shock to the system (Rob,2002). N.W.A short for N****s With Attitude
affected the rap game in three ways, positively, negatively, and overall. It was twenty years ago that
the rap group N.W.A with Ice Cube as its most vital lyricist released its album Straight Outta Compton
. They called their music reality rap, everyone else called it gangsta and music history was made. Hip
hop music came from the clubs and sidewalks of New York City as party music made with turntables
and rhymes by performers who usually couldn t afford music instruments. It was party music and then
it came west and got a beat down by a swaggering collective that called itself N.W.A. They took the
genre to the dangerous side of the street (Boucher,2008). N.W.A s first album Straight Outta Compton
influenced a number of films depicting inner city violence, such as Boyz N The Hood and Menace II
Society. N.W.A influenced an attitude change about rap music and its impact. Straight Outta Compton
changed what was considered extreme and explicit. N.W.A s music affected people similarly to
Nirvana s Nevermind album that introduced grunge in 1991. Their music allowed for a certain
freedom. Now rappers were free to speak their minds no matter how explicit their lyrics were. At

Japanese Value Honor And Family
To say the Japanese culture value family is an understatement. To say they value honor is a no brainer.
What many don t know is just how deep these values go, as well as how often they are reflected in
their literature. In the past the Japanese valued honor, now they call it saving face in our modern
times. Both terms mean the same thing and can be lost or earned almost the same way. The Japanese
value honor and family, both are equally displayed in various works of literature. The Tale of the

how the Japanese culture values family of their own as well as others.

The Story Of Pontius Pilate By Paul Maier
There are two sides to every story, and sometimes we forget to look at the other side. Before I picked

way out. As sad as it was, that was my only extensive knowledge about who Pilot was, and how he
untimely got to that decision to wash his hands clean of the situation. Paul Maier did a fantastic job

Pilot did what was right for Pilot. Pilot didn t really seem to have a choice but to Crucify Jesus, even if
he didn t want to. Pilot made an agreement that he would release one prisoner chosen by the people at
Passover and the people traded in Jesus for Barabbas. Everything that I read about Pilot in this book
proved him to be a man of his word, and someone who favored the law and his people there was no
way that he could go back on it. Do I think Pilot ever regretted what he did? Yes. Do I think he would
go back and change what he had done? I m not sure. If Pilot set Jesus free, where would Christianity
be today? History it self would have been changed forever. While it seemed to be a minimal task for
Pilot to do to keep his constituents happy, it actually is one of the biggest decisions a human on earth

The Qur Exodus 20 And Matthew 5-7
The two verses Exodus 20 and Matthew 5 7 are a spinoff of last week s verses in Romans and
Genesis. Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God s desire has been to restore the
broken relationship between God and people. God made a covenant. A covenant is a promise from
God that can never be broken. The covenant stated that God wanted a relationship with the people, but
in order to have this loving relationship, they had to turn away from their sin (Barker, 2002).
The portion of Scripture known as the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3 17, NIV): was entered into
by God and the people of Israel. The purpose of the Ten Commandments is to point out sin. The Ten
Commandments are some of the most influential words in the entire Bible, and they ve influenced
thousands of years of thinking. Even in day to day lives, the Ten Commandments affect with how
people think about right and wrong.
In (Matthews 5:7) Jesus gets down to business and explains why he is here. It s not to abolish the law
but to fulfill it. (Mathews 5:7) is also called The Sermon on the Mount and covers several different
topics. If the Sermon on the Mount was summarized in a single sentence, it would be something like:
How to live a life that is dedicated to and pleasing to God, free from hypocrisy, full of love and grace,
full of wisdom and discernment. God goes further in this verse to show what would happen if we
follow the Ten Commandments and what will happen if we don t.

Girls And Sex By Peggy Orenstein Essay
Girls Sex by Peggy Orenstein portrays teenage sexuality as anything but light hearted. While the title

todays teen seems to be more focused on boys than girls. Today s teenage culture is what is known as
a hook up culture. This hook up culture seems to be driving teenagers into impersonal relationships
consisting of various sexual acts. This book is a must read for educators, mothers, fathers, Aunts,

Social Media And Social Isolationism
There is a reason that AA meetings and other addiction recovery programs are face to face and not
virtual. This is because human beings are innately social and therefore, can perform actions for the
betterment of themselves and others. Without this face to face contact that social media encourages,
people, like Timothy, find themselves being swallowed up by the effects social isolationism has on
one s physical and physiological well being, however as we will see later on, social media can be
extremely beneficial in helping those with social isolationism. The dangers The effects of social
isolationism can be devastating both physically and psychologically. In the physical aspect, people
who suffer from social isolationism find themselves feeling like they have less energy, and vitality in
life. They simply don t feel up to the tasks at hand and are tired all the time. Social isolationism can
also affect how many times we get sick and how our bodies heal. For example, those who suffer from
this find that when they are injured or sick, that their bodies take considerably longer to recover and to
feel normal as well as they find themselves getting sick or injured more often than others. Moreover,
there is also a greater likelihood of chronic illness such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Life

Identifying The Detection Of Human And Non Human Decisions
1 Abstract Present work targets the detection of humans in images and videos. Our focus is on
developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional feature
vectors that support high accuracy human/non human decisions. To test our feature sets we adopt a
relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each
possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main contributions.
Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as
descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and
overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed
resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small
changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and
color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to
achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. It

The Meaning Of Courage In The Shawshank Redemption, And...
What is the meaning of courage? This is a question that many people ask themselves. Is courage doing
something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of
courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank
Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that
I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me
the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to
watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was
when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which
was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food,
my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was
the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat
her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and
kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the
abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to
try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my
childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and
Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because
Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows
courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage
when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard
Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful
tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Even though he knew this he also knew that they need
to stick together and help each other. Another example is in Beastly when Kyle

The Pros And Cons Of Social Contract
Social contract denotes that a government or sovereign body exists only to serve the will of the people
because the people are the source of political power that is enjoyed by the entity. The people can
choose to give or withdraw the power. Not all philosophers agree that the social contract creates rights
and obligations; on the contrary, some believe that the social contract imposes restrictions that restrict
a person s natural rights. Individuals who live within the society gain protection by the government
from others who may pursue to cause them injury, in exchange, the citizens, must relinquish
individual liberties like the capability to commit wrongdoings without being reprimanded, and they
should contribute to making society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hobbes believed that in nature people had to do whatever was necessary to survive and that even if
living together, people were still likely to fight. His view of people was dark and most likely due to
the horrors of a series of political schemes and armed conflicts he had seen during the English Civil
War. He believed that a contract was necessary. Hobbes felt that people were not capable of living in a
democratic society. Instead, a single dominant ruler was needed, and if everyone did their part, then
the community would function smoothly. Hobbes theory is unlike Locke and Rousseau s. He believed
that once the people gave power to the government, the people gave up the right to that power. It
would essentially be the cost of the safety the people were seeking.
John Locke argues that people deserve life, liberty, and property which are all an essential part of the
social contract. The government needs to guard individuals lives and safeguard the freedom of
prosperity and impose laws that are structured to reward efforts which improve society economically.
Locke s Contractual Theory of Government says that people must willingly do things like pay taxes
and serve in the military, but in return, the government had to listen to their desires and provide for
their needs. John Locke s philosophy is one that we are all familiar with because his ideas were used
in our Constitution by our founding fathers. According to the United States Senate, We the

Walmart Observation Paper
On the above date I was conducting an area check of Walmart on foot with loss prevention. While
conducting the area check, Walmart Loss Prevention Officer, Chris Hoerl, and I observed two White
males enter the store through the grocery entrance. The subjects both looked extremely nervous when
they spotted me after entering the store. The male defendant, later identified as Daniel Tysin Racine,
continued to pace back and forth near the grocery entrance while texting on his cell phone. The other
male subject who entered the store with the defendant, later identified as Jamie Alexander Mendes,
continued to enter and exit the store before sitting on a bench in the grocery vestibule, which is located
next to the loss prevention office. At one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dispatch advised me that Mendes had a non extradition warrant out of Maryland for sex assault.
Dispatch further advised me that the defendant had a non extradition drug related warrant out of New
Jersey. Dispatch conducted an internal check on the defendant and confirmed that he was trespassed
by Officer Howard on 03 28 2017. On that day, the defendant was opening packages and he attempted
to exit the store without paying for merchandise. Furthermore, the defendant had no money or credit
card to pay for the items. Walmart declined to press criminal charges and only requested that a
trespass warning be issued. Officer Howard s report states that the defendant acknowledged, signed,
and received a copy of the trespass warning. Reference P.R.P.D. case #2017 0380. The defendant was
then placed under arrest for criminal trespassing. I then conducted a criminal history check on the
defendant and discovered that he was currently on felony probation for grand theft, (300 L/5,000). The
defendant s probation started on 01 30 2017 and it ended on 01 29 2019. The defendant was then
subsequently arrested for VOP. Post Miranda read by card, the defendant now acknowledged that he
had been trespassed from Walmart and pleaded that I provide him with another

Discuss Theories Of The Science Interpretation And Purpose...
Over the centuries people have attempted to discover the meaning of dreams. Early civilizations
thought they were real physical worlds that you could enter from a dream state. During these times
dreams were felt to be a way to connect with a higher power, in fact some were convinced dreams
were a way to prophecies events. However it wasn t until the late nineteenth century that Sigmund
Freud and Carl Jung introduced what are still the most widely known theories of dreams. In current
studies the use of technology has advanced our understanding of the dream state: brain activity,
neuroscience, effective medications and lucid dreaming. This paper will examine different theories of
the science, interpretation and purpose of our dreams. Science has shown us that when we sleep there
are five sleep stages. These stages move from light sleep to deep sleep and finally ending in REM
(rapid eye movement) sleep. REM sleep periods occur approximately every sixty to ninety minuets
through out the night. This is where the dreams are the most vivid and most often remembered. The
REM sleep stage is characterized by rapid eye movement, increase heart rate and breathing, and
elevated blood pressure. In an eight hour night there may be four to six dream periods, which is
surprising since you often cannot remember even one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent research has proven this to be false and that the brain is actually highly active during sleep. In
fact the brain during REM sleep can be more active than when we are awake. J. Allan Hobson and
Robert McClarley came up with the activation synthesis model. They theorized that, ...circuits in the
brain become activated during REM sleep, areas of the limbic system including the amygdala and
hippocampus (the parts of the brain involved in emotions, sensations and memories) also becomes
active (Mastin). This is one theory of how and why dreams

  • 2. Connie Francis Essay Welcome to an era filled with sock hops, diners, and poodle skirts. But that s not all! Arguably the most important aspect of the 1950 s was that it was also a time filled with the newly evolved genre of rock n roll , a type of music that resulted from a combination of rhythm and blues, gospel music, country, and jazz. Rock and roll completely revolutionized musical tastes and essentially changed the world, especially among the youth. Suddenly all across the nation, teenagers were able to listen to this new music and rebel from their parents in ways that they never could before. There are many artists that made enormous impacts on rock and roll music in the fifties, and one such significant artist was named Connie Francis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1958, she continued to produce another string of hits including Stupid Cupid , Everybody s Somebody s Fool , My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own , and Don t Break the Heart that Loves You , which all came in at number one. Her hit singles continue to be popular today among many audiences. Connie Francis truly left an amazing impact on rock and roll music. She is essentially the prototype for the female pop singers of present day. She paved the way for women in the fifties to sing rock and roll with the boys, and was unique as a female artist in that she made record sales equal to or exceeding her male singing counterparts. Her music styling had quite a range, including big band, country, ethnic, folk, and many other types. Interestingly, Francis actually still challenges one of today s pop stars, Madonna, as the biggest selling female recording artist of all time. Despite many hardships in Francis life, including a rape, many divorces, and the brutal murder of her brother, she continues to sing across the world today. Over the course of her life she has recorded over seventy LPs and starred on many TV shows and movies, as well. Though she was never inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her impact on the rock and roll music industry during the 1950 s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Homeschooling Parents are typically held accountable for making decisions on how their child is raised, what rules will be implemented, curfews, punishments, and nevertheless, their education. When it comes to education, parents are responsible in deciding where their children will be educated and this decision includes some enticing options. The topic of homeschooling has indisputably been up for debate in many eras, cultures, and locations. Ari Neuman and Oz Guterman (2016) state that the question relics, which educational strategy is more effective, which is better? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two counterpart choices in education have been an ongoing controversy for such an extended amount time due to the concernment of what effects a child gaining his or her education in the comfort of their own home rather than a more engaged learning environment. Some argue that homeschooling is so controversial due to the issues of socialization or lack there of, time and financial constraints on the family and/or parents, and it simply being less effective and enforced than that of the alternative, public school, in terms of academic achievement and overall stature, (Martin Chang, Gould, Meuse, 2011). Additionally, traditional schooling is shown to provide more educational opportunities and important personal interactions between peers and teachers. (Korkmaz and Duman, 2014). On the contrary however, others argue that homeschooling raises greater academic achievement, creates strong familial and parent child bonds, has the potential to build greater self motivation and a sense of responsibility, while potentially keeping children out of harms way whether that be bad peer influences, bullying, drugs and alcohol. As we know, homeschooling rates are rising as the years go on. Researchers Martin Chang, Gould and Meuse exclaim that there are currently more than 1.5 billion children being homeschooled in the United States alone, taken from the National Center for Education Statistics from 2008. ... • 4. Russian Revolution And The Soviet Revolution For over three hundred years, Russia had been controlled by an autocratic government known as the tsarist regime. This empire was ruled by a series of tsars who had absolute dictatorship over the country. (BBC, 2014). From around the time of Peter the Great s reign, the empire began to impose its will on the people with absolute disregard for their lives and liberty. This incorporation of force caused repression and unrest amongst the people and the Russian Revolution was essentially an outburst from this. (Columbia Encyclopedia, n.d). The Russian Revolution consisted of two separate strikes in 1917, the first of which overthrew the imperial government and the second strike which placed the Bolshevik party in power. The Russian Revolution evidently brought a drastic transformation to the government, society and economy of Russia. The communist party who took power over Russia did evidently improve the economy and reshape the military forces which proved vital for Russia in WW2. (Quizlet, 2015). Overall, the Russian Revolution was beneficial to the country s development. Today, in modern history we credit Vladimir Lenin for the Revolution s succession. However, many people forget to acknowledge the role played by Leon Trotsky who stood by Lenin s side throughout the Revolution. I believe that Leon Trotsky and his actions during the Russian Revolution were essential to the security of the revolution and therefore his overall impact and status is heroic. Leon Trotsky ... When looking at the aspects of each, there is closeness between the different branches. Regardless, there are still noticeable differences, which can be exemplified by Athena, Freya, and the Valkyries. They are developed over time and tend to last the longest; however, just because a couple feels secure doesn t mean the couple is necessarily happy. While every healthy relationship shines with rays of trust and happiness, shadows often lurk filled with lies and deceit. A painting, entitled Alley by the Lake, by Leonid Afremov portrays the secure, yet secret, side to relationships. Happiness holds relationships together. Reds and oranges are colors that one links with warmth and feeling. The warm colors in the painting represent the love that is present which ultimately connects back to intimacy and companionship. Emotional security takes the longest to develop. It s putting one s full trust into the relationship. A study was done where adults, involved in a romantic relationship, were asked to take a questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on how emotionally secure a partner was in their relationship. They related these findings back to infant mother research that was previously concluded by other researchers. These researchers also blamed the outcome of their experiment, where 56% felt emotionally secure in their relationships, on prior love experiences (Hazan Shaver, 1987, p. 511 515). This study further proves how difficult it is for a couple to reach emotional security, after having immoral past love experiences. While the painting cannot easily express this aspect of happiness, the couple walking arm in arm in an empty park shows the safety they feel with one another. Beyond happiness, as the romantic relationship evolves, and the peak of the happiness fades, trust can start to falter. Secrets form and lies build. These secrets start small, but they can grow. What is consider to be an effective teacher? To keep this as simple as possible I could name a ton of attributes, but to name just a few I would say an educator that knows how to dress for success or maybe someone that has their classroom ready for learning, or even someone that knows how to create effective assignments for their students. Also a great teacher has a love for learning, has high expectations for each and every one of their students and even collaborates with colleagues on an ongoing basis. Chelonnda Seroyer spent two months poring through The First Day of School and using it as a guide for organizing for her first day of school. When the first day of school came, she had a script. Teachers have a significant role in influencing the lives of young children. With this duty comes great pride and pleasure. Therefore, all educators should strive to be good and effective teachers. • 14. The Dirty Jobs And The American Workforce The Dirty Jobs Among the many controversial issues surrounding immigration, both legal and illegal, the role that immigrant workers play in the American workforce is one of the most controversial. Many argue that illegal immigrant workers are stealing jobs that would otherwise be held by U.S. citizens, while others claim that no matter the availability of these kinds of jobs, American workers would not participate in this kind of dirty work. There are two sides to the argument, but one thing can be agreed upon by all parties discussing the issue of dirty jobs and the American workforce: there must be a solution. The problem that most thinkers are then faced with is the multitude of suggestions for solutions to this problem, as well as the many complexities of the situation that must be accounted for. While pointing out the many problems surrounding the workforce and these supposedly dirty jobs, pointing out specific, plausible solutions is a much more difficult task. In comparing Alaskan crab fisherman earning six figure salaries and migrant laborers in Alabama barely receiving minimum wage, Chris Ladd presents a great argument, along with useful examples, and a clear solution to the problem. Immigrant workers are willing to do the least desirable work for a much smaller reward than others in the American workforce due largely to their situation and need for work and to eliminate the gap between what American workers are willing to do and what immigrant workers are ... • 23. Description Of The Barn Cats Essay Scenario: It s autumn and, just like any other season, you re hard at work at your barn. Your barn cats are hard at work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay. In a brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked skin. One of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands through her fur. Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face, but you chalk it up to the weather and get back to work. A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus like sores on your hands. They re inflamed and red and suddenly you re reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more thorough once over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It s easy enough to find her; she s resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. She appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your approach, but you immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected. Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps while others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty and flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying infection, they need to be treated before they get worse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Last Mohicans Conflict Essay Conflicts in The Last Mohicans From the first chapter in James Fenimore Cooper s Leatherstocking Tale The Last Mohicans the evidence of extreme conflict between multiple parties is glaringly obvious. The struggle between the wilderness of the American country and those who endeavored to tame it, the clash between the French and the Colonials/British over the new world territory, the emulation between the various tribes of Indians, and the conflict between the main heroes and villains of the story are all very prevalent in this historic novel. The bloodiest conflict of these was the massacre after the fall of Fort William Henry. The initial conflict that sparked the slaughter after the British had surrendered and abandoned the fort was that between an Indian from the Heron tribe, (They are allies of the French), and a mother with a baby leaving the fort. The inhabitants of the fort had been allowed to leave in a procession, but the gaudy colors of a shawl (180) attracted the eye of a young Heron. He tried to seize it from the mother and when she held it away, he took her babe instead. She then attempted to give the shawl to him, but now uncaring, he dashed the head of the baby against a rock and killed the mother with a tomahawk. Then the Herons leapt upon the previous occupants of the fort and killed them, scalped them, and drank their blood. ...many among them even kneeled to the earth, and drank freely, exultingly, hellishly, of the crimson tide (182). In describing this, Cooper shows the brutal nature of some of the Indians and what happens in the conflicts between them and their enemies. Also the French did not try to stop this act, so it is perceived that they knew about it and it was planned along. This is proof of the hatred of the French against the English, by using their Indian allies to commit this act of terror. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the National Association of Realtors, one consistent finding is that for the last four years homebuyers 36 years and younger is the largest share of homebuyers at 34 percent! Although Millenials have experienced the Great Recession, it evidently has not dampened their enthusiasm for home buying. It s possible that the older Millenials may have at first been reluctant and that they have delayed home buying until a little later in life, but they are certainly on board now! I am a senior in college, and I was born in 1995 so I m considered a Millenial. For me personally, home ownership is a worthwhile goal. I don t intend to buy a home until I have graduated from college, have decided where I want to live, and I have my dream job. I think Millenials are cautious about financial matters, but I also think that can be a great advantage. Generally we don t rush into decisions without a great deal of thought and analysis. That means that when we do buy a home, we are financially and emotionally prepared and less likely to lose that home due to foreclosure It s easy to understand why home ownership is considered a major component of the American Dream. However, several occupations are still highly gender segregated (ACLU, 2013). It has been found that the choices of such occupations could be shaped during early childhood through gendered socialization. Playing with dolls is an important factor in the gender socialization process. Dolls boost the cultural ideals that are linked to the place of girls in the society. Barbie dolls tend to send negative images to young girls since they illuminate a fancy sexual figure that seems unattainable (Grade, Ward Hyde, 2008). There is limited data on the negative effects this doll has on the gender socialization of girls. This experiment seeks to assess whether experimentally controlling girls interaction with Barbie dolls when compared to a neutral doll influences their developmental ideas about who they want to be in the future. Gender is a socially constructed concept and it denotes the behavior and characteristics associated with either men or women (Sherman Zurbriggen, 2014). Different studies have shown that the comprehension and acceptance of gender roles commence at a very early age (Sherman Zurbriggen, 2014). Our focus is on developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional feature vectors that support high accuracy human/non human decisions. To test our feature sets we adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. Is courage doing something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food, my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Even though he knew this he also knew that they need to stick together and help each other. Another example is in Beastly when Kyle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Pros And Cons Of Social Contract Social contract denotes that a government or sovereign body exists only to serve the will of the people because the people are the source of political power that is enjoyed by the entity. The people can choose to give or withdraw the power. Not all philosophers agree that the social contract creates rights and obligations; on the contrary, some believe that the social contract imposes restrictions that restrict a person s natural rights. Individuals who live within the society gain protection by the government from others who may pursue to cause them injury, in exchange, the citizens, must relinquish individual liberties like the capability to commit wrongdoings without being reprimanded, and they should contribute to making society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hobbes believed that in nature people had to do whatever was necessary to survive and that even if living together, people were still likely to fight. His view of people was dark and most likely due to the horrors of a series of political schemes and armed conflicts he had seen during the English Civil War. He believed that a contract was necessary. Hobbes felt that people were not capable of living in a democratic society. Instead, a single dominant ruler was needed, and if everyone did their part, then the community would function smoothly. Hobbes theory is unlike Locke and Rousseau s. He believed that once the people gave power to the government, the people gave up the right to that power. It would essentially be the cost of the safety the people were seeking. John Locke argues that people deserve life, liberty, and property which are all an essential part of the social contract. The government needs to guard individuals lives and safeguard the freedom of prosperity and impose laws that are structured to reward efforts which improve society economically. Locke s Contractual Theory of Government says that people must willingly do things like pay taxes and serve in the military, but in return, the government had to listen to their desires and provide for their needs. John Locke s philosophy is one that we are all familiar with because his ideas were used in our Constitution by our founding fathers. According to the United States Senate, We the ... • 45. Walmart Observation Paper On the above date I was conducting an area check of Walmart on foot with loss prevention. While conducting the area check, Walmart Loss Prevention Officer, Chris Hoerl, and I observed two White males enter the store through the grocery entrance. The subjects both looked extremely nervous when they spotted me after entering the store. The male defendant, later identified as Daniel Tysin Racine, continued to pace back and forth near the grocery entrance while texting on his cell phone. The other male subject who entered the store with the defendant, later identified as Jamie Alexander Mendes, continued to enter and exit the store before sitting on a bench in the grocery vestibule, which is located next to the loss prevention office. Dispatch further advised me that the defendant had a non extradition drug related warrant out of New Jersey. Dispatch conducted an internal check on the defendant and confirmed that he was trespassed by Officer Howard on 03 28 2017. On that day, the defendant was opening packages and he attempted to exit the store without paying for merchandise. Furthermore, the defendant had no money or credit card to pay for the items. Walmart declined to press criminal charges and only requested that a trespass warning be issued. Officer Howard s report states that the defendant acknowledged, signed, and received a copy of the trespass warning. Reference P.R.P.D. case #2017 0380. The defendant was then placed under arrest for criminal trespassing. I then conducted a criminal history check on the defendant and discovered that he was currently on felony probation for grand theft, (300 L/5,000). The defendant s probation started on 01 30 2017 and it ended on 01 29 2019. The defendant was then subsequently arrested for VOP. Post Miranda read by card, the defendant now acknowledged that he had been trespassed from Walmart and pleaded that I provide him with another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Discuss Theories Of The Science Interpretation And Purpose... Over the centuries people have attempted to discover the meaning of dreams. Early civilizations thought they were real physical worlds that you could enter from a dream state. During these times dreams were felt to be a way to connect with a higher power, in fact some were convinced dreams were a way to prophecies events. However it wasn t until the late nineteenth century that Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung introduced what are still the most widely known theories of dreams. In current studies the use of technology has advanced our understanding of the dream state: brain activity, neuroscience, effective medications and lucid dreaming. This paper will examine different theories of the science, interpretation and purpose of our dreams. Science has shown us that when we sleep there are five sleep stages. These stages move from light sleep to deep sleep and finally ending in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. REM sleep periods occur approximately every sixty to ninety minuets through out the night. This is where the dreams are the most vivid and most often remembered. The REM sleep stage is characterized by rapid eye movement, increase heart rate and breathing, and elevated blood pressure. In an eight hour night there may be four to six dream periods, which is surprising since you often cannot remember even one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent research has proven this to be false and that the brain is actually highly active during sleep. In fact the brain during REM sleep can be more active than when we are awake. J. Allan Hobson and Robert McClarley came up with the activation synthesis model. They theorized that, ...circuits in the brain become activated during REM sleep, areas of the limbic system including the amygdala and hippocampus (the parts of the brain involved in emotions, sensations and memories) also becomes active (Mastin). This is one theory of how and why dreams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
