The Help By Tate Taylor
Martin Luther King Jr once quoted There is no noise as powerful as the sound of the marching feet of
determined people referring to that rather than generating riots that may or may not solve any issues
fight for your rights peacefully preserving freedom, order, and equality. The Help , directed by Tate
Taylor, released on August 10, 2011, is a heartwarming film depicting the effects of the civil rights
movement to the African American maids serving the privileged white families of Jackson,
Mississippi. The main story plot was impeccable with high regards as an academic award nominated
and winning movie. The acting was exquisite shaping the circumstances of the civil rights movement

The movie The Help was set in the 1960s during the civil rights movement. This setting affects the

realistically in the world despite controversial themes applied. Actions and occasional circumstances
that occur in the film should in some perspective be relatable to the audience. For example, in the film
there is a scene where a famous NAACP leader was assassinated in cold blood. We as a society have

Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale Essay
Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale (The Canterbury Tales)
Prologue to the Parson s Tale:
When the Manciple s Tale was done, it was then four o clock. The Host claimed that only one tale
remained. The Parson, however, refused to tell a foolish story, for Paul advised against telling false
stories. He says that he will tell a virtuous tale in prose.
The Parson s Tale:
There have been many spiritual ways that have led people to Jesus Christ and to the reign of glory.
The most prominent of these ways is Penitence. St. Ambrose claims that Penitence is the acceptance
of guilt for what a man has done and a pledge to do no more. Perfect Penitence requires contrition of
heart, confession of mouth and satisfaction. The root of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sixth, a man should hope to forfeit sin and receive the gift of grace and the glory of heaven. This
contrition should be universal. The second part of Penitence is confession, the sign of contrition.
Confession is the showing of all sins to a priest. All sins stem from the original sin of Adam, and there
are two types, venial sins and sins of deed. The latter occur when a man loves any creature more than
Jesus. Venial sins occur when a man loves Jesus Christ less than he ought.
There are seven deadly sins. Pride is the worst of them, for the other sins, Ire, Envy, Sloth, Avarice,
Gluttony and Lechery, stem from Pride. Pride can be manifest in many forms, including the wearing
of ostentatious clothing. The remedy for Pride is humility, when a man holds himself as not worthy of
heaven, despises no other man and cares not what men think of him. Envy is the sorrow in others
fortune and delight in others pain. The remedy for Envy is love of God first and trust in one s fellow
man. After Envy there is Ire, which manifests itself in hate. The remedy against Ire is patience and the
acceptance of suffering. Sloth is the anguish of a troubled heart. The remedy for this is fortitude.
Avarice is the desire to have earthly things. Avarice can be distinguished from Envy, for Envy is to
covet things that one does not have, while Avarice is to keep things that one has without rightful need.
The remedy for Avarice is pity. Gluttony is the immeasurable appetite to eat or drink.

Major Developmental Milestones
The Major Developmental Milestones
The process of myelination is pivotal in the development of young children. The myelin is a fatty
coating surrounding the axon that increases transmission between neurons. Before the age of six they
are maturing and developing faster whereas, under six the child may forget what they are doing before
they finish the task at hand. At six years old the most children can see an object and identify it, catch
and throw a ball, and write their ABC sequences without default. Information is still processing slowly
at six years of age (Berger, 2011). The prefrontal cortex in young children are much less adept than
adults at such social understanding and planning because the major brain functions of the prefrontal ...

Long term deficits can occur in learning and memory as the children are exposed to traumatic events,
high levels of stress in the home. Unfortunately, these same children are at a higher risk of developing
depression, post traumatic stress disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity. Language, siblings, and
culture also have an enormous impact on brain maturation. Children at any age, with greater verbal
fluency are more likely to demonstrate theory of mind. Theory of mind is to know what goes on in
another s mind and develop a folk psychology, an understanding of others thinking (Berger, 2011).
Sadly, the young child in this short story had neglectful/uninvolved parenting. Consistent parental
guidance plays an important role in the development of both social and cognitive competence. Two
moral emotions are evident when children play with each other, empathy or antipathy. With collective
social experiences and decreasing egocentrism, they develop empathy, an understanding of other
people s feelings and concerns, and antipathy, dislike or even hatred. Antipathy can lead to antisocial
behavior. Deliberate hurt or destructiveness directed toward another individual, including innocent
bystanders. Similar to the story the boy physically assaulted the young girl with a gun and used
reactive aggression (Berger, 2011). Cognitively, children are incapable of making concrete moral
decisions like adults. I agree with the law, children under seven

Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning
Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules.
That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching,
gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my
university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never
did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind
engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn.
I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each
child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children
would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is
not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify
and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged.
Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I
ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein
learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right
amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential.
Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John
Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious
enough to pursue bigger questions.
I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process.
Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s
learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can
be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. This was also evident
in my observation of EP, where the learners learnt from their peers and were confident to share with
other peers thus making it a successful

A Review of the Biomechanics Involved in Soccer Kicking a ball is a fundamental movement that
most individuals have learned to do since taking their first steps. However, kicking in the sport of

The placement of the non kicking foot determines the direction of the kick. The support leg also acts
as a stabilizer by flexing at the knee once the foot makes contact with the ground. (Lees, Asai,
Andersen, Nunome Sterzing, 2010) Pictured below in Figures 1 and 2 are two different athletes with
very diverse abilities. You can see both the direction of the planted foot and the flexion of the knee in
both players.
Figure 1. A photo of stages 1 and 2 of the instep kick, the approach and foot planting, of a beginner

The next stage of the instep kick in soccer is the swing limb loading stage or the wind up of the
kicking leg. This is the part of them movement that produces power and force essentially transferring
over into the next phase. This part of the movement involves a concentric contraction of the gluteus
maximus and hamstrings that results in hip extension making the hip rotate internally due to the
concentric contraction of the gluteus medias. Knee flexion is the main

Transversal Communication In A White Heron s A White Heron
Unlike the hunter who concerns nonhuman or other humans merely for his own benefit, Sylvia tries to
understand other species. When the young man is ignorant of how the family feels and keeps on
asking Sylvia about the heron as if she is only a tool, Sylvia is watching a toad and guessing that the
hop toad may want to reach its hole. In contrast to the sportsman s eagerness in extending his
collection of birds (p. 200), Sylvia feels for the little creature, just as she enters into the thoughts of the
birds in the boughs, wondering if they are saying goodnight...in sleepy twitters (p. 198). Whereas the
male violently takes the singing creature down from the bough, Sylvia questions his intention for
killing the birds he claims to like. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sylvia manages to attain transversal communication with other life forms including her cow, the white
heron and the old tree. All these friends help Sylvia to develop her identity through her bond with her
natural landscape. In return, she must do something for the heron. She ought not to give its life away
and must allow it to continue to live (p 203). After her internal conflict between the rapport with
nature and the awakening interest in the opposite sex, Sylvia secures her purity and strength by
refusing to surrender to the hunter and remaining in nature. Indeed, the reader can hardly not
appreciate the spirit of adventure and rejoice at the fancied triumph for Sylvia and the ecosystem (p.
201).

Compare And Contrast A Telephone Call And The Child s Story
Compare and Contrast
A Telephone Call vs The Child s Story
By:Summer Armstrong
The stories A Telephone Call and The Child s Story tell two very different stories but have many
similarities. These stories are two of America s favorite short stories. They are both very great stories
to learn from, but in different ways. These stories are loved for their life lessons. A Telephone Call
teaches you that women don t need a man to call them. The Child s Story teaches us to cherish every
moment we have with our family. These stories have many similarities and many differences.
In these stories they both have a romantic relationship of some sort. In both stories the author changes
the emotions rapidly. In A Telephone Call the woman is optimistic at first and then gets angry and
upset then she starts to make excuses. In The Child s Story the author changes emotions by the
traveller being happy for finding someone then losing them, this happens multiple times. Another
similarity is that you do not know exactly how old the main characters are. In A Telephone Call you
are to assume she is in her mid 20s because of the way she talks about the man and that it seems as she
lives alone. In The Child s Story the main character is just called a traveler because he is able to play
and run and walk through all the moments it is to assume that he is late 20s.
These stories have many differences as well. One of the main differences is where they are set. A
Telephone Call is set in the main

What it means to be a Profession

around the world is the most challenging issue that our Army is facing which requires discipline,
dedication, and skill. Professionals must be able to produce effective and expert work. Professionals
must conduct themselves ethically to earn the public trust, for example the concept of U.S. Army s
professional Ethic was created based on trust of the American people and civilian leaders.
In 19th century Army leaders strategically professionalized the Army for the purposes of the keeping
the military balance. According to Army White Paper (2010), leaders involved in the balancing plan

What Is Jane s Coming Of Age
In Jane Eyre, we see Jane grow up, essentially, by learning the hardship by criticisms of society
through experiences. Jane s coming of age is internalized, meaning her factors of growing up weren t
something as extreme as in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man but domestic. Since Jane Eyre was
written in first person, the reader gets to look at Jane s thought process when making decisions.
Compared to Stephen, in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man is heavily influenced by religion as an
external factor since he went to a boarding school. As a result, Stephen can be seen as a byproduct of
rigorous religious teaching. Even though their stories might be different, both books show the
characters growing up through their narration and characterization. ... Show more content on

Within the narration, there was imagery that the author was conveying through the protagonist s
dialogue which both books did. In Jane Eyre it was her paintings which described her progression
throughout the book so the reader can pinpoint what stage of the coming of age process the
protagonist is in. For A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man, the reader doesn t know the age of
Stephen throughout the book so the reader can use clues from his narration to attach description of his
surroundings to an age. An example is Moocow (Joyce 2) and Pick, pack, pock, puck (Joyce 27)
which shows the sensory description which children usually do. Both characters are also characterized
similarly by having parallel stories relating to family for example both growing up poor, attending
boarding schools they hated and eventually leaving, and family problems such as Jane s aunt being
cruel and Stephen s father being alcoholic. Stephens and Jane s internal development is visible
through their advancement mainly climbing the social class, evident from an early age of their family
struggles. Through the first person narration in Jane Eyre, the reader can characterize Jane through her
perspective but also what others say to her. For example, in the beginning,

The Writer s Credibility And The Reader s Efficiency
The purpose of substantive editing is to maximize the writer s credibility and the reader s efficiency.
This stage intends to produce a revised manuscript that improves the readability and understandability
of the readers, as well as maintaining the purpose of the text. Editors suggest appropriate changes
according to what the writer wants to accomplish and the intended audience which determines the
content, organization and tone. Thus, the end result of substantive editing is a balance between the
writer s intentions with the reader s expectations which in turn serves the text reliable, accurate and
hopefully, useful. Readers respect authors when there is no faulty or missing information. In order to
protect the writer s credibility, editors consult subject experts to guarantee the content is correct and up
to date. They keep in mind who the intended audience is (their level of sophistication, their financial
status, their sensitivity towards the topic) so they can determine what information, which tone, what
structure is suitable for them, and still ensure the objectives of the text are explicit. There will be times
when writers forget necessary details that [is needed to validate] a conclusion (Sutcliffe 583). The lack
of content can break a reader s flow: they will not be prepared to follow the upcoming material.
Editors do not want the audience confused because unpredictability can increase the chances of losing
a reader s interest. When there is complete

The Great War lasted four years and changed the whole world and so I shall be looking at how R. C.
Sherriff and Peter Whelan developed the protagonists in their plays to reflect the impact the war had,
not just on the world, but also on the individuals involved in war. May Hassle and Dennis Stanhope
were clearly affected greatly by war; May, by what the war took from her, Tom; and Stanhope, by
what the war gave him.
All throughout the war May s change of character becomes more and more apparent, finally ending
with her having a hallucination. This is used to really emphasise how much she has changed and how

The woman being older in a relationship, even today, is still frowned upon. This age gap would also
conflict with the spiritual way in which she was taught. The hero of the play being female is rather
unconventional but May s character has been specifically chosen to keep the other conventions. Susan
Bordo University of Kansas said that, in protagonist roles men are usually virile, muscular and
powerful . May shows all of these characteristics apart from being male and so her masculinity
compensates for this. Her strong character is shown by how she doesn t take no for an answer, You
have to ferret and burrow and not take no . which shows that she s not afraid to stick up for herself a
characteristic which main characters generally show at least once in their story. Her
leadership/dominance of the characters in the play is also a point which portrays her strength to the
audience, Take Miss Mason s things and put them in the scullery, Tom. The imperative here Take and

Defense Of A Stronger Mind
Defense of a Stronger Mind
Definitive conclusions from a mass of observances, authors, and philosophers assume to call this
world A mans world. Accusations as these have placed on society, from past to present, a variety of
assumptions towards women and their place in a male dominated society. To this I ask to what depth
can creditability carry one s opinions or observations of said sex or creed to an absolute certainty?
Author Mary Wollstonecraft, in The Vindication of the Rights of Woman, pursues the definition of
women from their own negligence, to an awakening of a female revolution in becoming equals in this
society. I will first follow Wollstonecraft, in the beginning of an issue of how the environment plays
on women.
As girls, women are taught neither to challenge or question the superiority of men. In this thought
alone, one can believe that the ideological stance of the women of influence present in this time,
pressing these ideas to the youth, have themselves seen circumstances to believe that this idea would
be one to follow. Further, the depth of this idea, prove that women have been hindered by not only
social placing but also ideological constraints of the past. A girl raised in an environment such as this
would surely be hindered of her advancement or even her own idea of a successful life. Overtly made
to feel as less in those instances, this environment essentially strips women of their individuality,
placing thoughts of the ways of or how to become a

The Growth of Social Networking Sites Essay

Access to technology has become an integral part of education, socialisation and industry related

the Australian Bureau of Statics in 2003 found that in the 12 months prior to April 2003, 95% of

the development of enthusiasm for digital technologies and social networking sites. More than 60% of
the participants in this study reported accessing the internet and social networking sites on a daily

American studies also reflect and expand on these limited Australian statistics. A 2004 PEW Internet

Racial Segregation In Major League Baseball
Introduction
Back in the day, American baseball excluded players of African American descent from Major League
Baseball and also in its lower Minor Leagues up until 1947. Racial segregation in professional
baseball was called a gentleman s agreement an arrangement or understanding which is based upon
the trust of both or all parties, rather than being legally binding because there was no written
agreement even at the highest level of organized baseball, the major leagues. But there was a vote in
the minor league in 1887 that was against allowing new contracts with African American players
within its league which sent a powerful strike that eventually led to the disappearance of African

Labor Unions Dbq
The Industrial Revolution brought new production methods to the United States. However, the new
technology and industries that were created as a result also created unfair working conditions. Workers
began to join together to fight against their greedy bosses. These groups became known as labor
unions. Three labor unions that improved working conditions are the National Education Association,
the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor.
Labor unions resulted in a positive impact on society. A labor union is an organization intended to
represent the collective interests of workers in negotiations with employers over wages, hours,
benefits and working conditions (Source 2). Labor unions date back as of 1768, when journeymen
tailors in New York City struck to protest a wage reduction (Source 3). People have been fighting for
fair working rights for years. As you can see it has taken a very long time to get where we are today. It
took a lot fights, hours, and hard work to get the fair working rights we wanted. Many generations

Amnesia and Natural Memory Loss
Amnesia What is it?
Amnesia and natural memory loss is two different things, natural memory loss can start at the age of
forty five but amnesia can happen at any age. There are five different types of main Amnesia that can
cause different type of memory loss.
Anterograde Amnesia
Retrograde Amnesia
Dissociative Amnesia
Infantile Amnesia
Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) (Theguardian), (medindia), (Curiosity)
Anterograde Amnesia
This type of Amnesia a person has brain trauma that has affected the hippocampus, the fornix which is
located inside and continuing on the outside of both sides of the hippocampus or the mammillary
bodies which are connected by a nerve path to the fornix. It can also temporarily be drug induced, by
alcohol intoxication, brain surgery, heart attack, concussion, shock and even an emotional disorder.
This type of Amnesia affects the patient by not being able to store memories caused after the Amnesia
for more than a few minutes. For example the patient is unable to remember the name of a person that
he or she encountered 5 minutes ago. (healthline), (medindia), (wisegeek), (Human)
Retrograde Amnesia
This form of Amnesia is the most common type found in patients. It can be caused by brain disease or
a brain injury. It affects the patient by losing all or some part of past memories. Newer memories are
lost first because the neural path to them is weaker because they haven t been called on

Socialist Feminist Criticism
Socialist Feminist Criticism: You Dropped the Bomb on Me, Baby
Feminism and gender studies have been described as having the ability to challenge literary and
culture theory to confront the difficult task of assimilating the findings of an expanding sphere of
inquiry (Contemporary Literary Criticism 567). This area of study has taken center stage during the
last fifty years, not only in our society, but also in literary criticism. Although the terrain Feminism
traverses can hardly be narrowed down to one single definition, the exploration of the genre can, at
times, be the most intriguing feature of the criticism itself. While feminism has undoubtedly changed
the way women and gender roles are considered in society today, it has ... Show more content on

This definition of feminism situates sex and gender alongside the subjects of focus of the Marxist
theory, even going as far as to intertwine the two. While I, myself, have been trying to determine how
much I agree with the points that each individual theory makes, I have found that Socialist Feminist
Criticism has had the greatest impact on my writing, reading, and understanding of the world.
It has been noted that in literature the languages of class, race, and gender are fused. This, throughout
history, and in our society specifically, is true. Every role that is developed in literature is not natural
or self evident but is always articulated within a system or relationships predicated upon
exclusions of gender, race, and class (CLC 592). Every character is described within a system of a
culture that is based on stereotypes, specific gender roles, and societal issues. Cora Kaplan makes her
most significant point when she suggests that We must redefine the psyche as a structure, not as a
content, so that we can move toward a fuller understanding of how social divisions and the inscription
of gender are mutually secured and given meaning. Through that analysis we can work towards
change (Kaplan 609). An understanding of the issues that Socialist Feminist criticism tackles can help
a reader determine why the literature they are

Theme Of Death In The Aeneid
Throughout the Aeneid by Virgil, death is a reoccurring theme and each death has its own significance
to the poem. The death of Creusa in book two shows that Aeneas will need a new wife and the death
of Pallas in book ten foreshadows Turnus s future. One of the most interesting deaths is that of Dido
because the responsibility for Dido s death falls on multiple characters: Anna, the goddesses, Venus,
Juno and Rumor, and Dido herself.
Dido is one of the many characters who are responsible for her own death. Before the appearance of
Aeneas in Carthage, Dido was married to another man, Sychaeus. However, Sychaeus was murdered
by Dido s brother who was jealous of his power and money leaving Dido a widow (Aen, 4.23 25). As
a widow, Dido made a vow Never to pledge [herself] in marriage again showing her commitment to
her first and only husband who she passionately loved (Aen,4.19). The importance of this to Dido s
death is that she broke her vow on account that Aeneas was the first man that she has loved since
Sychaeus. However, this love is artificial because it is not her love but love created by Venus. Even
though she has this passion for Aeneas flowing through her veins, she questions herself and whether it
will be worthy to love this man and break the vow. Dido is responsible for her own death because she
was unable to clear her mind and see the dangers of falling in love with Aeneas and the greater the
danger of breaking her vow to Sychaeus. One reason that she decides

Aristotle s Rhetoric And The Three Different Formations...
Rorty (1996) states, The proper aim of the rhetoric is that of finding the best available means of
persuasion, whatever the subject me be (1355a4 ff., 1355b26 ff.) (p. 1). This is exactly what Aristotle
does through the use of the rhetoric and the three different formations of the theory he created.
Aristotle was very adamant on the use of rhetoric when addressing an audience. Rorty (1996) claims
that Aristotle chides the authors of earlier handbooks on rhetoric for concentrating primarily on
techniques for swaying the emotions of judges and legislators, instead of first and primarily
considering the best modes of persuasion (p. 2). The use of persuasion was deemed more important to
Aristotle than trying to change ones emotions instead. Also stated The best orator does not manipulate
beliefs in order to make the worse appear to be the better course, but rather presents the best case in a
way that is comprehensible and moving to each type of character (1113a3o ff.) (Rorty, 1996, p. 2). The
speaker should not take the audience as a whole and degrade the topic they are speaking about to try to
change the perspective of the people in the audience. Aristotle would rather the speaker make the most
intellectual argument available to try and change the opinions of each individual.
A study was done using the rhetoric in advertisement today. The study was done to investigate how
rhetoric values can be found within a few controversial ad settings. This jest of this study is to

Cadets At United States Military Academy (USMA)
Cadets at United States Military Academy (USMA) are the leaders of tomorrow. They aspire to a
higher purpose, and are called to put their country and families first. The shared values and
characteristics of a cadet and military officer are integrity, confidence in their ability to lead, and a
commitment to teamwork. It is these attributes that make some of the finest officers of the United
States Army.
Integrity should be the highest value for any cadet. That is why there is an honor code at the Academy.
Cadets should have a sense of pride and integrity and do what is right automatically. If a person cannot

To be a successful leader, a cadet must be able to get others to follow and support them. In order to do
that, they must first believe in themselves before others can. The cadets must know who they are, and

confidence that attracts others to follow them. A cadet who is confident becomes a leader people can
trust and one that everyone will want to work for. By leading with confidence, and empowering
others, a leader can do great things.
A successful cadet must also know how to work with others, and lead them towards a common goal. A

Have ever wondered how georgia was formed? Georgia was formed by James Edward Oglethorpe and
some trusted colonist he was assigned to go with. James Oglethorpe founded Georgia to give people
that owes debts to be given a chance to earn money after being released from jail. Oglethorpe ran for
parliament in after the Turkish war and won to be a member. He then decided to reform jails all over
London because his friend Robert had to share a jail with someone who had smallpox; Robert

Georgia has great geography because there are hilly plains, fertile soil, forest, along rivers, and

The Impact Of The Federal Trade Commission
When the news that President McKinley had died reached J. Pierpont Morgan, his response was, This

financier and banker of the Progressive Era counted on McKinley s campaign manager to maintain a
laissez faire market in which he could continue his railroad enterprises, namely the company he co
owned, Northern Securities, which was created to fight off competition and create a monopoly on
nearly half of the nation s transportation system. When Roosevelt assumed McKinley s office, he

Monopolies defied the principles of a free market by promoting income inequality and giving
individuals an opportunity to control the price. Roosevelt said concerning them, [W]here, in either
[unions] or [corporations], there develops corruption or mere brutal indifference to the rights of others,
and short sighted refusal to look beyond the moment s gain, then the offender, whether union or

Congress s attempt to fight back. However, the Sherman Act failed to define monopoly and the
Clayton Act was merely a civil statute which carried no criminal penalties.
In response to those weaknesses, the Federal Trade Commission was created and given authority to
enforce the acts provisions and protect consumers by preventing anticompetitive, deceptive, and unfair
business practices... and accomplishing this without unduly burdening legitimate business activity (

monopolies, bringing civil law suits against violators of the law, and monitoring the business

Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young Five Faces Of...
Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is the
author of The Five Faces of Oppression (1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust effects of
oppression in today s societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged cruel or unjust
treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of oppression is
marginalization. This type of oppression may be the most dangerous one because it socially excludes
an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion, disability, appearance or
affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young s idea of justice, in which a person should not
be treated in an oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the current social structure of
marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of oppression, they think of it as a sort of
tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in order to gain an unjust advantage. And while
there is no doubt about it that it is true, there is another underlying meaning behind it. In today s
usage, oppression can also be the systematic limitations that a social group may experience. Although
they might not seem like a big deal, it is heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments
without it being the intention of a government. In The Five Face of Oppression, Young describes the
new left oppression as the vast and deep injustices some groups suffer as a

Comparison Between Ella Fitzgerald And Louis Armstrong
The collaborations between Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong demonstrate some of jazz s finest

romantic moment. After the brief instrumental introduction, the pair take their turns singing the same

second and third sections. Fitzgerald starts off the first chorus singing to Armstrong very casually but
quickly allows her classic sassy and emotional vocal tone to shine through by the end of the third line.
The chorus sings out about how the singer tries so hard to please the other but the companion does not

Role Of Internal Audit On The Organization Outside The...
MEMO
To: Non accounting specialists
From: Miriam Lombe, Junior Accountant

Date: 15/12/2014
Subject: Role of Internal Audit
It has come to my attention that the role of internal audit is not clear to some members of the
organization outside the finance department. Therefore, it was decided that a memo is written to
explain clearly the role of internal audit.
Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting function intended to add value
and improve an organization s operations. The audit function can help an organization to achieve
objectives by evaluating an organizations risk management, control and governance processes to help
improve them.
Internal auditors (IA) assess how well risks are being managed in an organization, how the
organization is being governed and how well internal control systems and processes are working.
They report their findings to senior management, highlighting and advising management where
improvements in systems controls and processes are necessary.
By evaluating an organization s risk management and assisting management in improvement of
internal controls, IA s help management to clearly show stakeholders that they are managing the
organization well.
Different from external auditors, IA s work within an organization and their work can vary depending
on the business requirements. They do not only look at financial risks and statements but at a range of
issues that are key to a company s survival

President James A. Garfield
President James A. Garfield was and still is one of the most respected presidents to serve in the White
House. Millard s book is split into parts, each part a significant chunk from Garfield s life. Millard
wrote of Garfield becoming president in the first two parts, then focuses more on his death in parts
three and four of her book, and I found what she wrote to be fascinating. The book switched between
telling the main events mainly from three people perspectives, which were Alexander G. Bell,
Garfield, and Charles Guiteau. I liked that Millard incorporated the perspectives from the men and
women that were instrumental in the downfall of Garfield. Her book is inspiring and very well written.
Garfield had served in Congress for seventeen years, but had absolutely no interest in being president.
When at the Republican National Convention, he was to give a speech to nominate a candidate for the
Republican nominee in the presidential race. However, the people voted for him and to his dismay,
Garfield became the nominee. As Garfield had no desire to be president, he did not campaign. He did

WWII Compare Contrast Essay
World War II is probably the most famous war to date, but how were the weapons and tactics first
used. Most of the weapons used in WWII were first designed in WWI, in fact that s when the

submarines. These similarities are also there differences, such as both wars using subs but WWII more
heavily using them and making more advancements. The time period in between WWI and WWII was
one of the most technologically advancing times in world history.
In WWI, planes were works in progress causing many deaths, but in WWII those weapons were

A common tactic used in WWI was Infiltration Tactics . This was a much better tactic than the others.
It was done a experienced troops infiltrating enemy territory to surprise the guards then doing a full

Trench warfare was done by opposing army s creating trenches. In between those trenches was an area
known as no man s land and was the most dangerous place to be. This tactic lead to many standoffs
and also extremely high numbers of casualties in a short period of time. One of the most efficient
ways of winning these battles was chemical warfare. All that needed to happen was to throw a
chemical bomb into the enemy s trench and then wait. Another of the famous tactics was called
Blitzkrieg . This was a German tactic first used in Poland with little success and then used with more
success in Belgium later on. What made Blitzkrieg so successful was how it was done. Blitzkrieg was

Dred Scott V. Sanford
In the history of the United States Supreme Court, there are a multitude of cases that have left an
indelible mark in the tapestry of American history, culture, and society. Among these landmark

power of the Supreme Court and, of course, race. Among these, Dred Scott v. Sanford occupies a

provided an impetus for slavers to continue an injustice that had existed since the colonial era . By
deciding the way it did, the United States Supreme Court also created a divide between the northern

enormous effect on the sentiment of the times warrants a closer look at the decisions of the justices
involved in the Dred Scott decision. Doing so will also shed light into the intricate logic behind the
justices decisions essentially the reasons why they concurred or dissented from the main opinion
written by Chief Justice Roger B. Taney. The process of interrogating the Supreme Court s
interpretation of the Constitution will also reveal the fundamental societal sentiment regarding slavery
and African Americans at the time. Dred Scott was an African American slave that sued for his and his
family s freedom, relying on his claim that his ownership to Dr. John Emerson, and later to John

Compare And Contrast United States And France s Judicial...
The United States of America is a country located on the continent of North America that is ruled by a
federal authority. France, conversely, is a country located on the continent of Europe with a semi
presidential republic. These two forms of government utilized by each country are both similar and
different, although they are both democratic republics. Both nations have a written constitution and
use a system of checks and balances that divide power into three branches: the legislative, the
executive, and the judiciary. The legislative branches are very similar, having analogous houses of
Congress, but the executive and judiciary branches are notably different. The executive branch not
only has a president but also a prime minister, the judiciary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

America s highest court is the supreme court, but in France the highest courts are further categorized
into six divisions: three civil courts, a commercial court, a labor court, and a criminal court. Justice in
these courts are also decreed differently in the two countries. The U.S. proclaims court rulings based
on common law, the written and unwritten rules of society which govern and regulate democracies. In
a trial, for instance, a judge relies not solely on legislative decisions but also on other judicial
decisions which may have set precedents in similar cases in the past. France, for its part, follows a
civil law system in which punishment is affected based on already written codes. The civil law system
tends to be more authoritarian than a common law system, as every legal procedure must be codified
and given precedence in an existing constitution.
The United States and France have different executive branches. The United States is led by an elected
president, but the Republic of France is headed by a semi presidency. The President (Head of State) in
France can appoint a prime minister who serves alongside the president to help the president manage
the bureaucracy of

The Abolition Of The Brazilian Slaves Essay
The Abolition of the Brazilian Slaves
Slavery in the Americas started with Christopher Columbus at the end of his first voyage, west of the
Atlantic. When Columbus saw the Indians (as he called them) and he thought they would make great
servants to overlords in Europe. The author writes, he promised to bring Ferdinand and Isabella as
many slaves as they required (Nowara 10). This was a suitable proposition because the lifestyle of
slavery was already embedded in the minds of the Europeans during the medieval times. The
Portuguese and the Spanish were already using slaves from Africa while Columbus was discovering
the Americas and the Caribbean. During sometime between 500 A.D 1500; the Iberian Peninsula
became a gateway for slavery after Spanish and Portuguese kingdoms drove out Muslim kingdoms
and battled them in the North of Africa. Another place that was conquered by the Portuguese was
Morocco and the city of Ceuta which was a strait in the peninsula. Giving the Portuguese control and
power of trade routes of gold and slaves. This soon brought the Portuguese west and down Africa
coastline. But African slaves was already well known in parts of west and central Africa. The author
writes slavery was a well rooted institution in the African societies with which they traded (Nowara
12).
There is proof of trade routes dating before the Atlantic slave routes, coming from the Saharan and
Indian Ocean region. But the Atlantic slavery trade routes had a lot more captives

Compare And Contrast Heroes In Vietnam And American Culture
Heroes and their role in creating the unique of culture
If someone tells you that you are a hero, would you believe that? It probably sounds insane but there is
no limitation in the way people define view own heroes. They might be the superhero with
superpower, only appearing when people in danger and save them. They could be the revolutionary
who create a milestone that make future a better place to live. Or they are your neighbor, family or
friends ordinary who sacrificed their own benefit and silently contribute to society. Heroes have
become a part of the culture in many countries. Different countries value different qualities in the way
they view their heroes. I have found some interesting contrasts and similarities between Hero in where
I come from Vietnam and In America. In both culture, heroes forgo their personal benefit to serve their
country but heroes in Vietnam have done big things because they are put in the situation while the
American enjoy doing it.
Heroes in Vietnam and in America have many things in common but the most significant and
respectable is how they use they big power that they have to help their people and their country. In
other words, they are sacrificed for others. Since the beginning of human being, the community had
assigned men who have the advantage of physical strength to be the one who went out to hunt while
women stayed at home and collected fruits because of their natural flexible. Gradually developing

The other two would put all warning stickers and make sure that they were put at the right loading
docks so that they could be sure. The last person would inspect that right part was being shipped to the
proper location on the order forms from the customers (dealers) and making the final calls that parts
were on their way.
When I asked him if he came across any conflict of any type his response was no, the reason he said
no was because he cross trained everyone in the department and put his strongest workers in the
position that they exceed in. also he built up a relation between them as far as work was concerned.
Another he had weekly meetings and would listen to all concerns and let them talk it out amongst
themselves and then in the end after listing to everyone he would answer all concerns that were in his
control. The concerns that were beyond his pay grade he would bring it up to his supervisors and the
following week he would inform his employees with the best answer that was given to him by his
supervisor. His most common conflict wasn t so his employees as he explain it was having the right
part in stock or the part being in the right location.
As went along with the interview I asked if he felt that team work might take longer than it would a

Top 5 Strengths
After going through the list of Values Principles, I have realized my top 5 strengths are: Acceptance,
Individualism, Non Judgementalism, Objectivity, and Confidentiality. Even though these may be some
of my strengths, there are also some weaknesses along with this. One may excel at something very
well, but at the same time, there is always room for improvement.
One of the first Values Principles I believe is a strength of mine is Acceptance. I have always been
very accepting of others, whether it is accepting their culture and beliefs, or their sexuality. I feel as
though accepting others is a huge strength and will help in my counseling career/techniques. There are
a lot of people out there that may not accept others because they ... Show more content on

I am able to set aside my beliefs and not make bias decisions. This is something I truly believe in but
at the same time, I do believe that this is a value I need to work on. When I know that someone is
making a decision, and it is not the right choice, I need to know not to give them my opinion or
advice. Sometimes I need to bite my tongue when I know the choice will not benefit the person at all.
It gets extremely difficult when working with the youth because I know if they go out and make the
same mistake over again, they will just come right back complaining or in tears. It does get hard to
just sit them down and tell them like it is and tell them not to do something.
Last but not least, I know confidentiality is a value and principle that I choose to use everyday. I feel it
is extremely important in the world of counseling, and almost every career out there. When somebody
comes to you and wants to talk, they should feel safe to tell you anything knowing that it will not
leave that room. If you are not able to keep what they disclose to you confidential, they will not feel
comfortable to continue telling you things. It gives the clients a peace of mind knowing they have
someone to talk

The Host claimed that only one tale remained. The Parson, however, refused to tell a foolish story, for Paul advised against telling false stories. He says that he will tell a virtuous tale in prose. The Parson s Tale: There have been many spiritual ways that have led people to Jesus Christ and to the reign of glory. The most prominent of these ways is Penitence. The second part of Penitence is confession, the sign of contrition. Confession is the showing of all sins to a priest. All sins stem from the original sin of Adam, and there are two types, venial sins and sins of deed. The latter occur when a man loves any creature more than Jesus. Venial sins occur when a man loves Jesus Christ less than he ought. There are seven deadly sins. Pride is the worst of them, for the other sins, Ire, Envy, Sloth, Avarice, Gluttony and Lechery, stem from Pride. Pride can be manifest in many forms, including the wearing of ostentatious clothing. The remedy for Pride is humility, when a man holds himself as not worthy of heaven, despises no other man and cares not what men think of him. Envy is the sorrow in others fortune and delight in others pain. The remedy for Envy is love of God first and trust in one s fellow man. After Envy there is Ire, which manifests itself in hate. The remedy against Ire is patience and the acceptance of suffering. Sloth is the anguish of a troubled heart. The remedy for this is fortitude. Avarice is the desire to have earthly things. Avarice can be distinguished from Envy, for Envy is to covet things that one does not have, while Avarice is to keep things that one has without rightful need. The remedy for Avarice is pity. Gluttony is the immeasurable appetite to eat or drink. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theory of mind is to know what goes on in another s mind and develop a folk psychology, an understanding of others thinking (Berger, 2011). Sadly, the young child in this short story had neglectful/uninvolved parenting. Consistent parental guidance plays an important role in the development of both social and cognitive competence. Two moral emotions are evident when children play with each other, empathy or antipathy. With collective social experiences and decreasing egocentrism, they develop empathy, an understanding of other people s feelings and concerns, and antipathy, dislike or even hatred. Antipathy can lead to antisocial behavior. Deliberate hurt or destructiveness directed toward another individual, including innocent bystanders. • 8. Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules. That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching, gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn. I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged. Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential. Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious enough to pursue bigger questions. I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process. Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. This was also evident in my observation of EP, where the learners learnt from their peers and were confident to share with other peers thus making it a successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast A Telephone Call And The Child s Story Compare and Contrast A Telephone Call vs The Child s Story By:Summer Armstrong The stories A Telephone Call and The Child s Story tell two very different stories but have many similarities. These stories are two of America s favorite short stories. They are both very great stories to learn from, but in different ways. These stories are loved for their life lessons. A Telephone Call teaches you that women don t need a man to call them. The Child s Story teaches us to cherish every moment we have with our family. These stories have many similarities and many differences. In these stories they both have a romantic relationship of some sort. In both stories the author changes the emotions rapidly. In A Telephone Call the woman is optimistic at first and then gets angry and upset then she starts to make excuses. In The Child s Story the author changes emotions by the traveller being happy for finding someone then losing them, this happens multiple times. Another similarity is that you do not know exactly how old the main characters are. In A Telephone Call you are to assume she is in her mid 20s because of the way she talks about the man and that it seems as she lives alone. In The Child s Story the main character is just called a traveler because he is able to play and run and walk through all the moments it is to assume that he is late 20s. Jane s coming of age is internalized, meaning her factors of growing up weren t something as extreme as in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man but domestic. Since Jane Eyre was written in first person, the reader gets to look at Jane s thought process when making decisions. Compared to Stephen, in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man is heavily influenced by religion as an external factor since he went to a boarding school. As a result, Stephen can be seen as a byproduct of rigorous religious teaching. Within the narration, there was imagery that the author was conveying through the protagonist s dialogue which both books did. In Jane Eyre it was her paintings which described her progression throughout the book so the reader can pinpoint what stage of the coming of age process the protagonist is in. For A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man, the reader doesn t know the age of Stephen throughout the book so the reader can use clues from his narration to attach description of his surroundings to an age. An example is Moocow (Joyce 2) and Pick, pack, pock, puck (Joyce 27) which shows the sensory description which children usually do. Both characters are also characterized similarly by having parallel stories relating to family for example both growing up poor, attending boarding schools they hated and eventually leaving, and family problems such as Jane s aunt being cruel and Stephen s father being alcoholic. Stephens and Jane s internal development is visible through their advancement mainly climbing the social class, evident from an early age of their family struggles. • 15. The Writer s Credibility And The Reader s Efficiency The purpose of substantive editing is to maximize the writer s credibility and the reader s efficiency. This stage intends to produce a revised manuscript that improves the readability and understandability of the readers, as well as maintaining the purpose of the text. Editors suggest appropriate changes according to what the writer wants to accomplish and the intended audience which determines the content, organization and tone. Thus, the end result of substantive editing is a balance between the writer s intentions with the reader s expectations which in turn serves the text reliable, accurate and hopefully, useful. Readers respect authors when there is no faulty or missing information. In order to protect the writer s credibility, editors consult subject experts to guarantee the content is correct and up to date. They keep in mind who the intended audience is (their level of sophistication, their financial status, their sensitivity towards the topic) so they can determine what information, which tone, what structure is suitable for them, and still ensure the objectives of the text are explicit. There will be times when writers forget necessary details that [is needed to validate] a conclusion (Sutcliffe 583). The lack of content can break a reader s flow: they will not be prepared to follow the upcoming material. Editors do not want the audience confused because unpredictability can increase the chances of losing a reader s interest. When there is complete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Accusations as these have placed on society, from past to present, a variety of assumptions towards women and their place in a male dominated society. To this I ask to what depth can creditability carry one s opinions or observations of said sex or creed to an absolute certainty? Author Mary Wollstonecraft, in The Vindication of the Rights of Woman, pursues the definition of women from their own negligence, to an awakening of a female revolution in becoming equals in this society. I will first follow Wollstonecraft, in the beginning of an issue of how the environment plays on women. As girls, women are taught neither to challenge or question the superiority of men. In this thought alone, one can believe that the ideological stance of the women of influence present in this time, pressing these ideas to the youth, have themselves seen circumstances to believe that this idea would be one to follow. Further, the depth of this idea, prove that women have been hindered by not only social placing but also ideological constraints of the past. A girl raised in an environment such as this would surely be hindered of her advancement or even her own idea of a successful life. • 21. Labor Unions Dbq The Industrial Revolution brought new production methods to the United States. However, the new technology and industries that were created as a result also created unfair working conditions. Workers began to join together to fight against their greedy bosses. These groups became known as labor unions. Three labor unions that improved working conditions are the National Education Association, the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor. Labor unions resulted in a positive impact on society. A labor union is an organization intended to represent the collective interests of workers in negotiations with employers over wages, hours, benefits and working conditions (Source 2). Labor unions date back as of 1768, when journeymen tailors in New York City struck to protest a wage reduction (Source 3). People have been fighting for fair working rights for years. As you can see it has taken a very long time to get where we are today. It took a lot fights, hours, and hard work to get the fair working rights we wanted. Many generations continued the fight and made these labor unions for the better of our people. The labor movement has given the American worker benefits that today are often taken for granted, such as overtime laws, child labor laws, and minimum wages (Source 3). Anterograde Amnesia Retrograde Amnesia Dissociative Amnesia Infantile Amnesia Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) (Theguardian), (medindia), (Curiosity) Anterograde Amnesia This type of Amnesia a person has brain trauma that has affected the hippocampus, the fornix which is located inside and continuing on the outside of both sides of the hippocampus or the mammillary bodies which are connected by a nerve path to the fornix. This type of Amnesia affects the patient by not being able to store memories caused after the Amnesia for more than a few minutes. For example the patient is unable to remember the name of a person that he or she encountered 5 minutes ago. • 23. Socialist Feminist Criticism Socialist Feminist Criticism: You Dropped the Bomb on Me, Baby Feminism and gender studies have been described as having the ability to challenge literary and culture theory to confront the difficult task of assimilating the findings of an expanding sphere of inquiry (Contemporary Literary Criticism 567). This area of study has taken center stage during the last fifty years, not only in our society, but also in literary criticism. Although the terrain Feminism traverses can hardly be narrowed down to one single definition, the exploration of the genre can, at times, be the most intriguing feature of the criticism itself. While feminism has undoubtedly changed the way women and gender roles are considered in society today, it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This definition of feminism situates sex and gender alongside the subjects of focus of the Marxist theory, even going as far as to intertwine the two. While I, myself, have been trying to determine how much I agree with the points that each individual theory makes, I have found that Socialist Feminist Criticism has had the greatest impact on my writing, reading, and understanding of the world. It has been noted that in literature the languages of class, race, and gender are fused. This, throughout history, and in our society specifically, is true. Every role that is developed in literature is not natural or self evident but is always articulated within a system or relationships predicated upon exclusions of gender, race, and class (CLC 592). Every character is described within a system of a culture that is based on stereotypes, specific gender roles, and societal issues. Cora Kaplan makes her most significant point when she suggests that We must redefine the psyche as a structure, not as a content, so that we can move toward a fuller understanding of how social divisions and the inscription of gender are mutually secured and given meaning. Through that analysis we can work towards change (Kaplan 609). An understanding of the issues that Socialist Feminist criticism tackles can help a reader determine why the literature they are ... • 25. Theme Of Death In The Aeneid Throughout the Aeneid by Virgil, death is a reoccurring theme and each death has its own significance to the poem. The death of Creusa in book two shows that Aeneas will need a new wife and the death of Pallas in book ten foreshadows Turnus s future. One of the most interesting deaths is that of Dido because the responsibility for Dido s death falls on multiple characters: Anna, the goddesses, Venus, Juno and Rumor, and Dido herself. Dido is one of the many characters who are responsible for her own death. Before the appearance of Aeneas in Carthage, Dido was married to another man, Sychaeus. However, Sychaeus was murdered by Dido s brother who was jealous of his power and money leaving Dido a widow (Aen, 4.23 25). As a widow, Dido made a vow Never to pledge [herself] in marriage again showing her commitment to her first and only husband who she passionately loved (Aen,4.19). The importance of this to Dido s death is that she broke her vow on account that Aeneas was the first man that she has loved since Sychaeus. However, this love is artificial because it is not her love but love created by Venus. Even though she has this passion for Aeneas flowing through her veins, she questions herself and whether it will be worthy to love this man and break the vow. Dido is responsible for her own death because she was unable to clear her mind and see the dangers of falling in love with Aeneas and the greater the danger of breaking her vow to Sychaeus. • 26. Aristotle s Rhetoric And The Three Different Formations... Rorty (1996) states, The proper aim of the rhetoric is that of finding the best available means of persuasion, whatever the subject me be (1355a4 ff., 1355b26 ff.) (p. 1). This is exactly what Aristotle does through the use of the rhetoric and the three different formations of the theory he created. Aristotle was very adamant on the use of rhetoric when addressing an audience. Rorty (1996) claims that Aristotle chides the authors of earlier handbooks on rhetoric for concentrating primarily on techniques for swaying the emotions of judges and legislators, instead of first and primarily considering the best modes of persuasion (p. 2). The use of persuasion was deemed more important to Aristotle than trying to change ones emotions instead. Also stated The best orator does not manipulate beliefs in order to make the worse appear to be the better course, but rather presents the best case in a way that is comprehensible and moving to each type of character (1113a3o ff.) (Rorty, 1996, p. 2). The speaker should not take the audience as a whole and degrade the topic they are speaking about to try to change the perspective of the people in the audience. Aristotle would rather the speaker make the most intellectual argument available to try and change the opinions of each individual. A study was done using the rhetoric in advertisement today. • 32. Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young Five Faces Of... Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is the author of The Five Faces of Oppression (1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust effects of oppression in today s societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of oppression is marginalization. This type of oppression may be the most dangerous one because it socially excludes an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion, disability, appearance or affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young s idea of justice, in which a person should not be treated in an oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the current social structure of marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of oppression, they think of it as a sort of tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in order to gain an unjust advantage. And while there is no doubt about it that it is true, there is another underlying meaning behind it. In today s usage, oppression can also be the systematic limitations that a social group may experience. Although they might not seem like a big deal, it is heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments without it being the intention of a government. Internal auditors (IA) assess how well risks are being managed in an organization, how the organization is being governed and how well internal control systems and processes are working. They report their findings to senior management, highlighting and advising management where improvements in systems controls and processes are necessary. By evaluating an organization s risk management and assisting management in improvement of internal controls, IA s help management to clearly show stakeholders that they are managing the organization well. When Columbus saw the Indians (as he called them) and he thought they would make great servants to overlords in Europe. The author writes, he promised to bring Ferdinand and Isabella as many slaves as they required (Nowara 10). This was a suitable proposition because the lifestyle of slavery was already embedded in the minds of the Europeans during the medieval times. During sometime between 500 A.D 1500; the Iberian Peninsula became a gateway for slavery after Spanish and Portuguese kingdoms drove out Muslim kingdoms and battled them in the North of Africa. Even though these may be some of my strengths, there are also some weaknesses along with this. One may excel at something very well, but at the same time, there is always room for improvement. One of the first Values Principles I believe is a strength of mine is Acceptance. I have always been very accepting of others, whether it is accepting their culture and beliefs, or their sexuality. This is something I truly believe in but at the same time, I do believe that this is a value I need to work on. When I know that someone is making a decision, and it is not the right choice, I need to know not to give them my opinion or advice.
