Kansas Water Conservation
Water is a resource that has always been available to us, and I feel as a society we have taken it for
granted for many generations. While I was doing the research for this water conservation essay, it
opened my eyes to the importance of my generation to preserve the remaining aquifer. Although I don
t reside in Southwest Kansas, I have very strong ties to this area of Kansas where the family farm is
located. The impact of not preserving water will not only affect our family farm in Grant and Stevens
county, but also the cattle that graze on the grass in the pasture. Along with our pasture, we have farm
ground that is irrigated to raise silage, corn, and wheat; which is sold to feed yards in the area for
cattle. Without water, the impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take shorter showers, turn off the water when we brush our teeth and just be more conscious of water
usage in order to not be wasteful. When it comes to future farmers, they can pay close attention to
water per acre feet regulations and follow them closely. Another way to extend water when it comes to
agriculture is to use less water intensive crops. Examples are grain sorghum, cotton and sunflowers.
Repairing leaks in irrigation and utilizing new and improved ways to irritate are other possible
solutions. One new way to irrigate is the PMDI (Precision Mobile Drip irrigation technology system
called (Dragon Line). This new system is predicting a potential for 20 50% water savings compared to
conventional irrigation. I believe that for my generation to help with water conservation, we need to
be diligent about educating everyone in the past, present and future about the importance of not taking
this precious natural resource for

A college education. Many parents and even parents to be are bombarded with this goal, sometimes
before their child is even born. How will they save? What is the best way to save? How much should
they save? Magazines for new parents deal with this issue on a regular basis. Parents are warned in

at a public university and just over $200,000 at a private institution. Parents are also advised to save

Ancient Greeks pursued an education in order to be better citizens and because they valued the mind
and thinking. In an article in Change, Arthur Levine and Jeanette Cureton quote John Henry Cardinal
Newman who wrote The Idea of a University in the mid 1800 s. His ideal was a residential community
of students and teachers devoted to the intellect. To him a college was an alma mater, knowing her
children one by one, not a foundry, or a mint, or a treadmill. To Newman, a university was a gathering
place for those who wanted to enrich their lives through learning, not a place where students could be
molded. Is this the case today? The New Jersey City University states that a liberal arts curriculum
will provide students with the kind of knowledge that will help them live a more rewarding life one
that is rich with meaning. Their College of Arts and Sciences contends that it is dedicated to providing
students with an education that will expand their perceptions and give them a firm foundation for
living, working, and decision making. But what is this richness of

Difference Between Equilibrium And Equilibrium
Using your own words, explain why mainstream economists believe a free market tends towards the
equilibrium position. Make comments about the contributions of Jevons and Marshall to our
understanding of the market mechanism. Use as your main references Sheehan (2010) and Heilbroner
(1997).
A free market is a system where there is no government intervention in the business activities. A
capitalist economy is best known for its free market mechanism where the participants are profit
oriented. In a free market economy, there exists a simple market mechanism where all products in the
market are identical. Mainstream economists are under the neoclassical economists who believe that
the free market system and the financial markets usually converge towards attaining an equilibrium

One of the factors affecting the demand of a product is the price per unit of the product. A high price
per unit of the product leads to a decrease in the demand of the product. Secondly, the price of other
related products which include the complement and the substitutes also affects the demand of a
product. (Backhouse, 2005) Thirdly, the buyers income is another factor which affects his decision to
demand a good or a service. The more income the consumer has meant that his demand for a product
is also high. However, mainstream economist argues that demand is affected by the price of the
product alone. As the price of a product increase, the willingness of the consumers to buy the product
decreases. (Sheehan, 2010) Basically, a high price of a product leads to a decrease in the demand of
the product. As the price of the product continues to increase, the consumer may opt to switch to
consumption of the other substituting product. As the price of the commodity decreases, the demand
of the product increases because the product becomes more affordable and it gains a better value for
the money than the substitute

Bottled Water Consumption
In 2010, bottled water consumption within the U.S. was around 28 gallons per person. As a beverage
category, bottled water represented $10.6 billion in annual sales. This category has grown at an
impressive rate. In fact the value of the U.S. bottled water market doubled in less than a decade.
The success of this product represents a success for marketing. In this discussion thread we will
examine some of the reasons for its success.
Issues to Discuss:
1. Describe the target market for this bottled water. How does bottled water create value for target
market consumers?
Target market refers to a group or customer segment that a firm is interested in selling its product or
services. This is a two way relationship as the potential must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The shape of the bottle is shaped as a glacier that resembles an ice formation that is different on each
face of the bottle, which is supposed to symbolize the ever changing nature of a glacier. When it
comes to product and distribution Icelandic is carbon neutral which is important because mineral
water receives a lot of criticism for leaving a carbon footprint. Icelandic has secured large deals with
companies like Anheuser Bush that help with distribution. They price their water at the upper end of
the range of mineral water which positions their product as premium water. Icelandic promotes their
product at large events such as the Cannes Film Festival and by targeting at such events it creates an
awareness for their brand.
3. Bottled water has come under attack from environmental groups for the amount of waste created by
the bottles. How do you feel this concern about packaging waste will impact sales? How could the
marketing mix elements be used to address this concern?
Sales have seen a negative impact and studies have shown that between 2007 and 2010 Nestle water
the largest water bottler worldwide saw a 12.7 percent decline in sales. According to the
foodandwaterwatcg.org website, bottled water comes with unnecessary costs to the customer as well
as environmental damage from the associated energy consumption, water use and

Native American Creation Stories Summary
What is a reasonable explanation for the purpose of the Native American Creation Stories? Explain the
obvious differences in the effects of the creation stories being delivered in the traditional oral tradition
as opposed to being read as one written narrative. Think about what happens when stories are told
orally and as a people instead of from a single author s point of view. How reliable are the narratives
as translations of oral tales? What is a reasonable explanation for the purpose of the Native American
Creation Stories? For this problem, our first and most obvious explanation is that the Native American
Creation Stories allowed for history to easily be passed through oral traditions, as they had no print
tradition (See page 7). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pages 45 49 explain in detail the cultural climate of one particular tribe, whose practices in terms of
communal living were thought to be wide spread. This meant that hospitality was a particularly strong
value. Another key to understanding this odd dynamic is that according to Howard Zinn s a People s
History of the United States, property and land ownership were somewhat foreign concepts, so even
invasion was not particularly contemptible for a number of tribes (Do take note, more agriculturally
oriented tribes may have had different views than gatherer tribes). 3. Identify the Spanish name of the

Stability In Any Family Is Important However, Building
Stability in any family is important however, building and maintaining stability in a blended family is
much harder due to the many variables a blended family faces. We will explore some of these
challenges and the results of them.
Living arrangements
Living arrangements can be one of the most challenging things for a blended/step family. There is the
need for everyone to feel that they have their own space when needed to just escape, while also having
a sense of inclusion for all the family members. The hardest thing here is when children go for
visitation to the other parent s home is to ensure that they have what they need for the visitation and
making sure those items are returned home. This can often lead to implications between ... Show more

None of the data came from the other household. As a blended family, this is something that could
make capturing data tough. There are too many inconsistencies from each households and parenting
styles. (Heintz Martin, V., Entleitner Phleps, C., Langmeyer, A. N, 2015)
Study findings consisted of the difficulty of getting fathers to really participate in a family unit let
alone a stepfather. For this reason alone, it is common for the children to be a bit distance from the
stepfather. Were stepmothers being generally more involved in the day to day happenings. (Heintz
Martin, V., Entleitner Phleps, C., Langmeyer, A. N, 2015) This is something that is very present within
my own blended family. Though my husband and I have custody of all five of our children and we
have lived together for over ten years, my husband is much more distant from my daughter than I am
with his children. His children tend to find me as a go to person when they feel they can t go to either
of their own parents. At the end of the day everyone must do their part to make a family unit function.
Each person must fulfill their role so that all the puzzle pieces fit together.
Single Parent Household The single parent household also provides an instability for the child(ren).
(Juby, Heather, Céline Le Bourdais, and Nicole Marcil Gratton, 2001) Often the single parent must

Women Wear Veils In America
In America it is quite unusual to see women wearing veils. In some parts of the world it is odd to see
women with their faces exposed in public. Most women who wear veils every day are Muslim; the
veil is called a hijab. The word hijab means a screen or curtain. Muslim women wear these veils for a
few different reasons, to some it is a symbol of modesty, for others it is forced on them either by law
or by the men in their family. Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Iran or Afghanistan have such
laws. The women are only required to cover themselves when they are in public. In their home they
are allowed to keep their faces uncovered. Muslim girls do not have to wear a veil until they reach
puberty. In the mid 70s

Why Did Nero Kill The Poor
Why did Emperor Nero persecute these poor, innocent Christians that did no verified crimes? Well, he
had many theories that were not all one hundred percent accurate. Emperor Nero had many
conspiracies such as, that they started the Great Fire of Rome, and that they were being inappropriate
with other family members.
First of all, there was a Great Fire of Rome that started in 64 AD, and Emperor Nero blamed the
Christians for this horrible disaster. Although, many people thought that Nero started the fire, he took
this opportunity to put all the blame on the people he hated the most, the Christians. After he blamed
them, he sent them to jail for the crime of hating mankind. In jail they got tourcherd by dogs ripping

neighborhood. There are three reasons we believe this will be a profitable opportunity. First, we both
love antiques, and have learned a great deal about authenticating, pricing and conserving the value of
these pieces. Next, we have business experience from our venture in consulting work. And thirdly, one
of the major antique stores in our area has ceased operations. Develop a marketing plan for business

evaluate the progress of the project. At these meetings we evaluated the project. We also discussed
how to proceed in order to plan our upcoming activities. The first step was to develop a mission state

determined that we could use the internet and local business leaders to assist us in gaining the
necessary information. For our next step we would conduct a traffic study to determine which blocks

Additionally, it captures its development in many cultures, societies and religions. Humility

Food Protection Pl Essential For Food Safety
Summary:
A food protection plan is essential in todays fast pace world, where globalization and international
trade and improved means of transport has served to distribute food around the globe, even to remote
regions in the shortest possible time. The significance of this trend is that food prepared by a few can
pose a threat to many people, if it is not prepared under proper sanitary conditions and hygienic
practices. It is imperative that food manufacturers, processors, distributors, and all food related
stakeholders develop a food protection plan to safe guard themselves from lawsuits and to be able to
show that their food products are safe for human consumption. It is the duty of the state to develop
their own food safety plans and work together with all food related stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Key words: food protection plan, food safety, health and safety.
Introduction:
A food protection plan is essential for food safety and should cover all food and food related entities
from farm to fork. We live in a fast pace world, and in order to protect consumers and the general
public from undue health risks, a well thought out and efficiently working food protection plan are
required to protect the public health.
What is a food protection plan?
A food protection plan is a purposed strategy to eliminate, reduce or control food borne hazards and to
achieve a safe food supply from farm to fork.

Sweatshops Is Bad
Out of Bad Comes Good
A sweatshop is a factory where workers receive low wages while being forced to work in poor
environments. In general, these workshops produce an abundant amount of the clothing that we wear
everyday. However, few acknowledge the act of sweatshop labor, since it is rarely shown to the public
eye. Ironically, many popular fashion brands that we buy from all recieve clothes that are made in
sweatshops. While sweatshop workers are treated unfairly in the workplace, fast fashion provides
them with jobs and it provides us with the clothing that we constantly demand for. To understand the
topic of sweatshop labor, we must recognize the effects of this controversial working system.
First, we have to consider the conditions that

U.s. Foreign Policies During The Arab Spring
Review of U.S. Foreign Policies to Egypt after the Arab Spring
Our initial response to the 2011 revolution was appropriate. You suggested Mubarak to resign and
declared U.S. support for the revolutionists. The decision reversed our long time Middle East policy
favoring stability over democracy, but it served our national interest. It forestalled a Syria style civil
war as we dissuaded the Egyptian Army from suppression. Such a war can jeopardize our use of the
Suez Canal as a crucial route to deploy our naval forces.
Unfortunately, our subsequent policies only undermined the stability in Egypt and our influence in this
area. We have used the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loans to persuade both the SCAF and
President Morsi to accelerate their political and economic reform. However, this project was not
accepted by the Egyptian leaders who were reluctant to initiate political reforms that may undermine
their domestic support and increase their national debt. The delay of IMF aid weakened the Egyptians
power to stabilize its rickety economy and pacify its poor civilians. Consequently, the Egyptian
leaders sought alternative sources of funding from Libya and the Gulf States, which decreased our
voice in the politics of Egypt.
When President Morsi was abdicated in the 2013 coup d état by the military, the U.S. took an
ambiguous policy. You condemned the coup and demanded the power to be returned to democratically
elected leaders. To materialize your criticism, we

Battleship Potemkin by director Sergei M. Eisenstein and Man with a Movie Camera directed by
Dziga Vertov, one should feel obligated to mention similarities in the story, theme, style and,
technique, as well as their differences. Their execution of ideas as well as their artistic imprint forever
changes how we view modern day cinema.
Battleship Potemkin follows a crew of a naval ship, which has been mistreated for the last time. The

Summary Of Arthur Ashe s Contract Days Of Grace

contracted through something out of his control. Unfortunately, he was burdened by an incurable
disease, but this did not stop him from living his life. Arthur acknowledges that he is mortal and will

Business And Personal Affairs That Affect Organizations...
The bottom line in today s business and personal affairs that affect organizations and influences
individuals is the phenomenon called leadership. People who possess this scholarly debated persona
all have a story to tell and no two are the same. Leaders are from all walks of life and there is no
stereotype that a leader has to be recognized due to position. Frankly, leadership can be acknowledged
by a set of skills and or trait abilities that whoever wishes to acquire those traits can improve their
competency in these areas through training and experience (Northouse, 2016, p. 56), and Kouzes et.
al. (2012) are available to anyone (p. 30). The core of leadership are problem solving skills, social
judgment, and knowledge; this relationship, then can be known to society as a leader can be simplified
as those who aspire and those who choose to follow (Northouse, 2016, p. 30). In a scholarly context,
Northouse (2016) defines leadership as a process whereby an individual influences a group of
individuals to achieve a common goal (p .4).
This is a mutual relationship and of their own volition to be characterized as a leader or a follower.
This has no boundaries that define a leader among groups or organizations that may view one group as
evil, i.e. Hitler s regime or that of good. The perception of an individual, group, or organization is
relevant to the correlation of the mutually agreed influence it accepts. A leader, according to Stogdill s
findings, an individual

Nintendo, The Oldest Video Game Company
Consider the situation faced by Nintendo, the oldest video game company in the world. The company
had positioned its line of developing good games for all age stages and strongly opposed to violence
and pornography. In 1985, shortly after the company s introduction of Nintendo Entertainment System
to the United States, Nintendo met its match when Japanese entertainment giant Sony and American
tech behemoth Microsoft entered the field with the PlayStation and Xbox. Despite the new
competition, Nintendo still held strong. However, Sony and Microsoft had more resources to produce
advanced devices. Nintendo released Gamecube in 2001, however, the Xbox and Playstation 2 offered
popular franchises, such as Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo. At end of the year, The Gamecube just
sold 7 million, and Playstation 2 sold 17 million. In 2006, Nintendo sold about 22 million Gamecubes,
Microsoft sold about 25 million Xboxes, and Sony sold 150 million Playstation 2s. Clearly the result
of that match up showed that Nintendo was the last place, as it was outsold by both of the other
companies. Nintendo s share of the market and sales seemed likely to shrink in the round of console.
As this situation, how can Nintendo maintain their quality brand image and regain their lost market
share, given limited funds for advertising and sales promotion?

Stereotypes In Magazines
There is an abundance of ads in magazines that may not pertain to you at all. But, there are those few
ad s some see while skimming through a magazine while in line to check out at the grocery store that
catch your attention. Many will look at the ad while they are waiting in line and some will even
purchase the magazine as they are interested in what they are both seeing and reading. People will see
many ads in magazines. Most with the intent to get one to purchase a product of some kind. While I

The Women s Movement Essay
The Women s Movement The women s rights movement was a huge turning point for women because
they had succeeded in the altering of their status as a group and changing their lives of countless men
and women. Gender, Ideology, and Historical Change: Explaining the Women s Movement was a
great chapter because it explained and analyzed the change and causes of the women s movement.
Elaine Tyler May s essay, Cold War Ideology and the Rise of Feminism and Women s Liberation and
Sixties Radicalism by Alice Echols both gave important but different opinions and ideas about the
women s movement. Also, the primary sources reflect a number of economic, cultural, political, and
demographic influences on the women s movement. This chapter ... Show more content on

In her essay she relates the rise of feminist consciousness in the 1960s to numerous changes in
American society, especially the rise of other protest movements. Echols said, On September 7, 1968,
the sixties came to that most apple pie of American institutions, the Miss America Pageant (Echols,
308). The reason she said this was because one hundred women s liberation activists descended upon
Atlantic City to protest the pageant s promotion of physical attractiveness as the primary measure of
women s worth. From there, the protestors set up a Freedom Trash Can and filled it with high heeled
shoes, bras, girdles, hair curlers, false eyelashes, typing books, and representative copies of
Cosmopolitan, Playboy, and Ladies Home Journal. They wanted to burn the contents but couldn t
because of the laws for bonfires on the boardwalk. Also, word had been leaked to the press that there
would be a symbolic bra burning. However, there were no bras burnt that day. But the image of the bra
burning, militant feminists remains part of our popular mythology about the women s liberation
movement. The Miss America demonstration represents an important moment in the history of the
sixties as well as the women s movement (Echols, 309 310). Although the women s liberation
movement only began to take shape toward the end of the decade, it was a quintessentially sixties
movement. The women s liberation movement alone carried on and extended into the 1970s that

History Of Swimming During The Olympic Games
HISTORY OF SWIMMING IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES
According to the Oxford dictionary, the act of swimming is to propel one s body through water by
using the limbs or other bodily movement . Using this form to propel through water is now so
technical and refined that it is classed as an individual or team sport as well as a recreational activity.
One of the most popular sports of the Olympic Games today is swimming highlighting events in
different strokes like the butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke. Competition is conducted
both in a purpose built swimming pool as well as the open water. Olympic swimming is one of the
most watched and oldest events, competitors from all over the world come together at a hosted city to

Not only paintings have been found but also written evidence referencing swimming. The first ever
book of swimming was written by a German professor of languages, Nikolaus Wynmann in 1538
called The Swimming or A Dialogue on the Act of Swimming .
The country that was first to take part in swimming both as a competitive sporting activity and as a
recreation was England in the early 18th century. The competitions with time gained popularity
leading to the first indoor swimming pool opening for the public in 1828, at the St George Baths,
London and operated by the National Swimming Society. Improvements made towards swimming as a
sport led to numerous swimming organizations such as Amateur Swimming Association of Great
Britain with as many as 300 regional clubs operating throughout England. By 1882 other European
countries had also established swimming federations with the first European amateur swimming
competitions in 1889.
The style of swimming or stroke that was majorly used was the breaststroke until1844 where two
Native American participants introduced the front crawl. Then in 1873 after winning a local
competition, Sir John Arthur Trudgen debuted a new hand over stroke freestyle, which is still
considered today as the most powerful strokes of all swimming styles.
The first women s swimming championship was held in Scotland in 1892 but wasn t introduced to the
Olympic Games until 1912. Men s

Comparison Of Abraham Ibn Ezra And Rashi
Rabbi Abraham Ibn Ezra was born in Toledo in around 1092. He spent the early part of his life in
Cordoba, but he ultimately left his home and spent the remainder of his years wandering throughout
Europe. He was an extremely intelligent man, and he excelled in poetry, philosophy, math, and
astronomy, in addition to many other subjects. Rabbi Shlomo ben Isaac, otherwise known as Rashi,
was born in 1040 and died in 1105. He worked as a vintner in Northern France. (Satlow, p. 213 214).
Ibn Ezra and Rashi have many similarities and differences that mainly result from their cultural
settings. These can be seen through their opinions of the milk and meat law, and also through their
commentaries on the end of Deuteronomy. The phrase you shall not ... Show more content on

The end of Deuteronomy states And Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there, in the land of Moab,
by the mouth of the lord. And he buried him in the valley, in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Pe or.
And no person knows the place of his burial, unto this day (Deuteronomy 34: 5 8). A similarity
between the two rabbis is instantly apparent because they both turn to the same text, Deuteronomy,
and attempt to interpret it. It is believed that Moses wrote down everything for God in the bible, but
this idea does not truly make sense. How could Moses be writing about the events that surrounded his
own death? Neither rabbi outright states that the text is wrong. Instead, both Rashi and Ibn Ezra
attempt to explain this complex idea, just in different ways. Ibn Ezra says And if you understand, then
you will recognize the truth. And he who understands will keep silent (Friedman, p. 19). This quote
demonstrates that Ibn Ezra realized that it did not logically make sense that Moses could have written
this specific part of Deuteronomy, but he chose to ignore it instead of trying to come up with an
explanation. Rashi s thoughts on Deuteronomy 34 differed from Ibn Ezra s. Rashi believed that Moses
did actually write the text because God instructed him to, but when he realized what he was writing
tears formed in his eyes. (Rosenblum Personal

Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in
the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow
older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation
trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values
learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying
the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says.
In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner).
Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a
part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful
because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than

opportunity. This movement helped gain the ERA amendment which allowed women equal payment
in working fields. This was extremely important because although women were already working and
have always worked they weren t given enough credit. This Movement began in the early 1970 s ,but
feminism was a problem even after they gained the suffrage right .This movement was mostly focused
on giving women equal pay as men. During this time women would get paid only 63 percent of what a
man made. Feminists who were involved were mainly of middle class members predominantly white.
This became in issue that not only upset the poor ,but Women of color as well because they felt the
NOW was only looking out for white feminists and they felt they wouldn t represent their problems

find the concentration of an unknown solution
Introduction
This experiments attempts to find how different concentrations of sucrose affect the amount of
osmosis that occurs in a dialysis tubing and finally to find concentration of the unknown sucrose
solution. The dialysis tubing represents a cell with a semi permeable membrane therefore water with
along with some other substances are able to move. A gradient is exist when there is an uneven

The higher concentrations of sucrose, more water will move inside the dialysis tubes at a faster rate.
Therefore dialysis bag with higher concentrations of sucrose will have greater difference in mass over
time and thus a greater rate of osmosis. The variables were controlled by keeping the amount of
sucrose concentration to be at 20 ml and the distilled water to be at 200 ml. Weight balance was
covered to stop letting the air affect the weight of each bags. Although the data supports my
hypothesis, there has been outliers. For example, in the control group there happens to be osmosis
going on but at a smaller rate than the other concentrations. This wasn t supposed to happen because
due to isotonic nature of solution. This might have been due to excess water in dialysis bag. Since this
experiment heavily relies on the handling of the experiments, errors could have easily occurred. The
dialysis might not have been properly dried. One of the example of this 2% sucrose having 21.4 grams
at 30 minutes from 21.9 grams at 20 minutes. The air conditioner could have affected the results
during the data collection phase although steps were taken to prevent this from happening. Not having
the same experimenter for the dialysis bag might have affected the results. Not tying the dental floss
tightly may have caused the loss in mass for certain bags. Errors could have occurred from the time it
took to out the bag from the distilled

The Hot Topic of the Immigration Issue Essay examples
Immigrants built America into the country it is today. Some were fleeing persecution in their own
countries. The immigrants came as free individuals, indentured servants, or slaves. Most came here to
pursue a better life. America welcomed those individuals, and it has a process in place for those
wishing to gain legal citizenship. The immigration issue is a hot topic in the United States today and
concerns individuals who are entering the country illegally. Our representatives are proposing new
laws to limit access to our country through other than legal means. There are strong feelings on each

Throwing Our Planet On The Garbage
Throwing Our Planet in the Garbage
It is something that we all have heard about. The horrific challenges we face with plastic
overwhelming our oceans have created an awful picture in all of our minds at one time or another, but
have you ever thought about whether or not all of our oceans are being affected? What about how
much garbage is accumulating in our precious oceans and the effects that accumulation is having on
us. These are questions I have always been particularly intrigued in finding the answers to, though I
know that some of the answers that we have concluded are only estimates. To look further into this
issue, Laura Parker wrote an article titled Eight Million Tons of Plastic Dumped in Ocean Every Year .
The article was published by National Geographic in February of this year (2015), and will be my
main source of information for this subject.
According to Laura Parker s article, eight million tons of plastic trash ended up in the ocean from
coastal countries . The worst offenders of those countries were compiled into a top 20 list, putting
China first and the United States in the twentieth spot. It may seem as though we are doing somewhat
better than out counterparts, and this may be true in a sense. However, if we were truly doing our part,
we would not be on this list at all. So why is it that only few of us seem to dispose of our waste
properly? Not only that, but why is it that even the majority are doing their part, the problem continues
to arise?

Madame Bovary and Death in Venice are two intriguing books that do not seem to have much in
common at first. When analyzing the stories more in depth though, it becomes apparent that there is a
common link that is shared in regards to the relationships of the characters. Romance is a significant
part of both books, but the romance that occurs is superficial despite the characters attempted
portrayal of it as deep and meaningful. Madame Bovary and Death in Venice are comparable in that
they over romanticize relationships based on the idealistic fantasies and view of romance that they
encounter through music, literature, and writing.

those found in the relationships in Madame Bovary and Death in Venice. Sara admires this man for his

Cervical Cancer
Kelly Dunn
HED 414
C. Rath
Cervical cancer is considered to be a slow growing reproductive disease that affects thousands of
women in the United States annually. This particular type of cancer forms within and/or on the tissue
of the cervix. The cervix is part of the female reproductive tract, which connects the uterus to the
vagina. Cervical cancer begins when surface level cells on the cervix divide uncontrollably causing
cervical lesions, which if left untreated can progress into cancer. If not found in the early stages,
cervical cancer can spread from the surface of the cervix, deep into the tissue of the cervix as well as
the surrounding tissues within the vagina and uterus (Slaz,
2010). It is estimated that there is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Engaging in smoking and a weak immune system can also increases one s risk of developing cervical
cancer because the body s ability to fight infection and disease is lessened
(Lindau, 2001). Furthermore, tobacco products contain numerous known carcinogens, which
physically affect an individual s overall health as well. Lastly, the lack of regular PAP smear testing
can be crucial in determining whether or not a woman will develop cervical cancer.
Annual PAP smears are extremely important because this is not only an opportunity for a woman to
have the capability to monitor her own sexual health, but it is also a chance for physicians to ensure
that no abnormalities are present.
In the early stages of cervical cancer there may not always be noticeable symptoms, which reinforces
why women should receive annual PAP smears. The PAP smear itself is a procedure where a
gynecologist scrapes cells from the top layers of the cervix, which are then analyzed to check for any
abnormalities. The PAP smear test is extremely important for women because the tests can find
abnormal cells in early stages, thus allowing physicians to treat women earlier (Slaz, 2010; Hughes,
2009; Charney, 2006). Early detection and treatment is more likely to be effective in combating
cervical cancer, as opposed to finding abnormalities in later stages which could have already
progressed into cancerous lesions. Today, there are three main options that physicians

Women And The Role Of Women In The 1920 s
Women of The 1920s
During the first World War I women were left at home to try and figure out how they were going to
care for their families. Their husband, father, and brothers were sent off to war. Many companies
around the United States were left with production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a
time period, where women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they
had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home to cook, clean,
and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their lives coming and going from war.
These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is the era where women were emerging. Women were
changing by being more independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry,
and movies.
One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the women is their
sexuality. The women before those who became empowered in the 1920 s would never open up about
their sexuality. The women prior to the 1920 s had an image of modesty and were viewed to be
married to only one man. In 1920, the women began to express their sexual desires freely. Singers like
Bessie Smith could paint a picture and bring anything to life with just her voice. One example by
Bessie Smith I m Wild About That Thing . In this song, Bessie Smith sings of how she loves her man

urgency, of crumbling, of chaos. The rhythm accentuates this by staying very steady, almost unsettling
during the verses when he talks about his relationship, he uses the dynamic parlando. The melody is
very condensed and conjunct. It sounds very monotone, almost as if he is talking directly to his
partner. You can tell that the singer/narrator of this song cares more about his partners past trauma,
than the trauma he is being faced with now. Furthermore, during the chorus, (when he discusses the

Homelessness affects men, women, families, children, youth, and veterans. While structural factors,
like the unequal distribution of income and lack of affordable housing, cause homelessness, certain
vulnerabilities may determine who is at higher risk for homelessness. These include addictions, mental
illness, domestic violence, medical conditions, and lack of education or job skills. This research paper
will shed some light on the issue of homelessness and how we can prevents it with some suggested
solutions.
Homelessness on the rise Today, Homelessness in the US is becoming one of the top challenging
issues to fix. Recent available data shows an increase the number of the homeless between 2014 and
2015. On a single night in January 2014, 578,424 people were experiencing Homelessness meaning
they were sleeping outside or in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program. From 2014 to
2015, a period of ongoing recovery from the Great Recession, overall homelessness decreased by 2.3
percent and Homelessness decreased among every major subpopulation: unsheltered persons (10
percent), families (2.7 percent), chronically Homeless individuals (2.5 percent), and veterans (10.5
percent). Yet a recent report by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, says
homelessness decreased by nearly 4% over the past year.. The reports shows:
34 states had decrease in overall homelessness, while 17 states saw increases. 40 states had decreases

Rape In The Trojan War
In the period between April and July 1994, approximately 800,000 Rwandans were killed, and
350,000 Rwandan women were raped. In total, this number equalled about one fifth of the country s
population. An informal, political organization called akazu was at the heart of this genocide.
Members of the Hutu population, the National police, and the Rwandan army were some of the
perpetrators (Bijleveld, Morssinkhof, Smeulers, 2009). Just one year later in July 1995, during the
period of the Bosnian war, about 10,000 male Muslim Bosniaks were murdered in the town of
Srebrenica. Again, the national government was behind the killings, particularly members of the
Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (Ash, 2013). Responding to these atrocities,

Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary
In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the
satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some
people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth.
Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large role
in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude and
longitude on a map may be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn t explain much
about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800 s. It was first used to show
where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping crime has advanced,
giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently. These maps help detectives
and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime is most likely to happen far
enough from a criminal s home to not raise suspicion, but close enough that the criminals are still feels
comfortable with the area. A great example of the positive effects of ... Show more content on

If there is a certain illness that is targeting one area of a map, then it is easier to narrow down the
cause of the illness. Maps can also help us learn where we need to build hospitals, urgent care
facilities, and doctor s offices. Mapping crime lets us know where hot spots are located. If we know
that a specific area has a higher crime rate, we can increase the police presence in that area to stop the
crime before it happens. Mapping of crime and public health have helped the government and general
public learn how to improve the quality of life for the people living in that area. Mapping is not just
about knowing the latitude and longitude of a specific place, but it can help us to learn how we can
improve the world around

The Trade Of Counterfeit Products Essay
Abstract:
India is a one of the key markets of counterfeit products in South Asia which has negatively affected
its economy since many years. The trade of counterfeit and pirated products hamper the development
of knowledge and innovation as it can greatly reduce the economic benefits for the original creator of
products. Widespread and rampant piracy and weak intellectual property rights (IPR) dilutes the
development of local industry and also endangers the huge investments made in research and
development work of organizations. This can lead to loss of competitive advantage as the
competitiveness of firms is driven by the firm s ability to innovate and create new products churned
from its knowledge capital. Counterfeiting and piracy can exist in the market from within or due to
imports from a foreign market but flourishing or controlling of it can be understood majorly by
understanding the attitude of Indian consumers towards purchase of counterfeit and pirated products.
The studies so far particularly considering IPR infringements have been skewed towards
Pharmaceuticals, Entertainment and Information Technology. This paper attempts to investigate and
understand the Indian consumers awareness of IPR infringements and their attitudes and intention
towards purchase of Home Appliances based on psychographic and demographic factors.

A King Is The Best And Worst Of Men
David Anthony Durham once said, A king is the best and worst of men (Durham). By this, he was
saying that kings have the potential to leave great legacies or a trail of failures. As a result of kings
being chosen by royal succession, rather than actual qualifications, many kings throughout history
have been unfit for leadership of a nation. An example of this is The Count of Artois, Charles X of the
France. He was uneducated and led a frivolous life. When Louis XVIII died in 1824, Charles X was
faced the difficult task of becoming king when no one expected it to happen. He was ultimately
unprepared for the job, and exemplified all the qualities of an unfit ruler. When Dr. Seuss wrote Yertle
the Turtle , he was not only creating a meaningful children s story, but also providing adults with an
important lesson on leadership. He used Yertle as a metaphor for oppressive governance. Yertle s
actions can be compared to the actions of Charles X of France and other tyrannical rulers.
Greed is an extremely dangerous quality to have in a ruler. The leaders of nations who greed for more
land are led to start wars, and the leaders who greed for money crush their citizens with heavy taxes.
Yertle is a very greedy Turtle King. When commenting on the extent of his kingdom he says, I m the
ruler of all that I see. But I don t see enough. That s the trouble with me (Seuss). Despite ruling
literally everything is in his sight he still wants more. This type of insatiability makes for

Alexander The Great Greek Crusader
Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established
an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which
Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and
Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the
democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become
estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the
King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do
not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of
vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the
use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but
also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the
way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the
statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could
trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire
his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign

20th Century DNA Research
DNA has been titled the most important scientific discovery of the 20th century. DNA is cells which
contain chemicals and It carries the information that determines what you are like. Understanding the
structure of DNA allowed other scientists to work on the individual elements of the DNA helix. The
biggest research is the human genome project. Numerous number of people consider that the two
scientists James Watson and Francis revealed DNA in the 1950s. However, Swiss chemist Friedrich
Miescher was first to recognize DNA in the late 1860s. After Miescher s recognition of DNA, it
opened new branch to gain knowledge. Phoebus Levene and Erwin Chargaff passed out a series of
research determinations which revealed additional information about the ... Show more content on

The data in DNA is primarily read and then it is copied into a messenger molecule. DNA embraces the
code for proteins, which are complex molecules that do huge amounts of work around our body. After,
the information held in this molecule is translated into a language which the body can understand.
Amino acids build blocks of proteins. It is this precise language that commands how the amino acids
should produce a particular protein. Moreover, DNA plays an important role in replication. It is vital
for the reproduction to the maintenance and growth of cells, tissues, and body systems. A DNA
molecule result in a series of bases without pairs along the backbone of the molecule. DNA has four
bases all part of a nucleotide. The four bases in DNA are about the base that they will attach to. This
means that adenine only pairs with thymine and guanine will only pair with cytosine. Since
nucleotides attach with unpaired bases on the backbone of the DNA molecule. it builds a new strand
that complements. The result at last is a strand which is a perfect match to the original. When cells
replicate in the body it produces new skin and blood cells. If mistakes occur, there are systems to
repair the

  • 2. Kansas Water Conservation Water is a resource that has always been available to us, and I feel as a society we have taken it for granted for many generations. While I was doing the research for this water conservation essay, it opened my eyes to the importance of my generation to preserve the remaining aquifer. Although I don t reside in Southwest Kansas, I have very strong ties to this area of Kansas where the family farm is located. The impact of not preserving water will not only affect our family farm in Grant and Stevens county, but also the cattle that graze on the grass in the pasture. Along with our pasture, we have farm ground that is irrigated to raise silage, corn, and wheat; which is sold to feed yards in the area for cattle. Without water, the impact ... When it comes to future farmers, they can pay close attention to water per acre feet regulations and follow them closely. Another way to extend water when it comes to agriculture is to use less water intensive crops. Examples are grain sorghum, cotton and sunflowers. Repairing leaks in irrigation and utilizing new and improved ways to irritate are other possible solutions. One new way to irrigate is the PMDI (Precision Mobile Drip irrigation technology system called (Dragon Line). This new system is predicting a potential for 20 50% water savings compared to conventional irrigation. I believe that for my generation to help with water conservation, we need to be diligent about educating everyone in the past, present and future about the importance of not taking this precious natural resource for ... Ancient Greeks pursued an education in order to be better citizens and because they valued the mind and thinking. In an article in Change, Arthur Levine and Jeanette Cureton quote John Henry Cardinal Newman who wrote The Idea of a University in the mid 1800 s. His ideal was a residential community of students and teachers devoted to the intellect. To him a college was an alma mater, knowing her children one by one, not a foundry, or a mint, or a treadmill. To Newman, a university was a gathering place for those who wanted to enrich their lives through learning, not a place where students could be molded. Is this the case today? The New Jersey City University states that a liberal arts curriculum will provide students with the kind of knowledge that will help them live a more rewarding life one that is rich with meaning. Their College of Arts and Sciences contends that it is dedicated to providing students with an education that will expand their perceptions and give them a firm foundation for living, working, and decision making. Make comments about the contributions of Jevons and Marshall to our understanding of the market mechanism. Use as your main references Sheehan (2010) and Heilbroner (1997). A free market is a system where there is no government intervention in the business activities. A capitalist economy is best known for its free market mechanism where the participants are profit oriented. In a free market economy, there exists a simple market mechanism where all products in the market are identical. Mainstream economists are under the neoclassical economists who believe that the free market system and the financial markets usually converge towards attaining an equilibrium position in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the factors affecting the demand of a product is the price per unit of the product. A high price per unit of the product leads to a decrease in the demand of the product. Secondly, the price of other related products which include the complement and the substitutes also affects the demand of a product. (Backhouse, 2005) Thirdly, the buyers income is another factor which affects his decision to demand a good or a service. The more income the consumer has meant that his demand for a product is also high. However, mainstream economist argues that demand is affected by the price of the product alone. As the price of a product increase, the willingness of the consumers to buy the product decreases. (Sheehan, 2010) Basically, a high price of a product leads to a decrease in the demand of the product. It forestalled a Syria style civil war as we dissuaded the Egyptian Army from suppression. Such a war can jeopardize our use of the Suez Canal as a crucial route to deploy our naval forces. The core of leadership are problem solving skills, social judgment, and knowledge; this relationship, then can be known to society as a leader can be simplified as those who aspire and those who choose to follow (Northouse, 2016, p. 30). In a scholarly context, Northouse (2016) defines leadership as a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal (p .4). This is a mutual relationship and of their own volition to be characterized as a leader or a follower. This has no boundaries that define a leader among groups or organizations that may view one group as evil, i.e. Hitler s regime or that of good. The perception of an individual, group, or organization is relevant to the correlation of the mutually agreed influence it accepts. A leader, according to Stogdill s findings, an individual ... The company had positioned its line of developing good games for all age stages and strongly opposed to violence and pornography. In 1985, shortly after the company s introduction of Nintendo Entertainment System to the United States, Nintendo met its match when Japanese entertainment giant Sony and American tech behemoth Microsoft entered the field with the PlayStation and Xbox. Despite the new competition, Nintendo still held strong. However, Sony and Microsoft had more resources to produce advanced devices. The reason she said this was because one hundred women s liberation activists descended upon Atlantic City to protest the pageant s promotion of physical attractiveness as the primary measure of women s worth. From there, the protestors set up a Freedom Trash Can and filled it with high heeled shoes, bras, girdles, hair curlers, false eyelashes, typing books, and representative copies of Cosmopolitan, Playboy, and Ladies Home Journal. He spent the early part of his life in Cordoba, but he ultimately left his home and spent the remainder of his years wandering throughout Europe. Rabbi Shlomo ben Isaac, otherwise known as Rashi, was born in 1040 and died in 1105. He worked as a vintner in Northern France. (Satlow, p. 213 214). Ibn Ezra and Rashi have many similarities and differences that mainly result from their cultural settings. And no person knows the place of his burial, unto this day (Deuteronomy 34: 5 8). A similarity between the two rabbis is instantly apparent because they both turn to the same text, Deuteronomy, and attempt to interpret it. It is believed that Moses wrote down everything for God in the bible, but this idea does not truly make sense. How could Moses be writing about the events that surrounded his own death? Neither rabbi outright states that the text is wrong. Instead, both Rashi and Ibn Ezra attempt to explain this complex idea, just in different ways. Ibn Ezra says And if you understand, then you will recognize the truth. And he who understands will keep silent (Friedman, p. 19). This quote demonstrates that Ibn Ezra realized that it did not logically make sense that Moses could have written this specific part of Deuteronomy, but he chose to ignore it instead of trying to come up with an explanation. Rashi s thoughts on Deuteronomy 34 differed from Ibn Ezra s. Rashi believed that Moses did actually write the text because God instructed him to, but when he realized what he was writing tears formed in his eyes. (Rosenblum Personal ... Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. What about how much garbage is accumulating in our precious oceans and the effects that accumulation is having on us. Cervical cancer begins when surface level cells on the cervix divide uncontrollably causing cervical lesions, which if left untreated can progress into cancer. Lastly, the lack of regular PAP smear testing can be crucial in determining whether or not a woman will develop cervical cancer. Annual PAP smears are extremely important because this is not only an opportunity for a woman to have the capability to monitor her own sexual health, but it is also a chance for physicians to ensure that no abnormalities are present. In the early stages of cervical cancer there may not always be noticeable symptoms, which reinforces why women should receive annual PAP smears. The PAP smear itself is a procedure where a gynecologist scrapes cells from the top layers of the cervix, which are then analyzed to check for any abnormalities. The PAP smear test is extremely important for women because the tests can find abnormal cells in early stages, thus allowing physicians to treat women earlier (Slaz, 2010; Hughes, 2009; Charney, 2006). Their husband, father, and brothers were sent off to war. Many companies around the United States were left with production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a time period, where women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home to cook, clean, and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their lives coming and going from war. These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is the era where women were emerging. Women were changing by being more independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry, and movies. One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the women is their sexuality. The women before those who became empowered in the 1920 s would never open up about their sexuality. This policy enabled immigrants from diverse cultures to migrate and practice their religions in Australia. Australia saw migrants and refugees come from South East Asian countries, who previously, under the white Australia Policy were not allowed migrant status. This change in policy allowed for the evolution of Buddhism (from Vietnamese countries) and the Muslim culture from Indonesia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Song Analysis Of Two By The Antlers The song I will be analyzing is Two, by The Antlers. This band is an Indie rock / art rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The lead singer and lyricist is Peter Silberman, with Michael Lerner on drums, and Darby Cicci on trumpet, bass, synth, and vocals. The music they make almost always consists of synth and vocals, with accompaniment from a wide array of other instruments. Their album Hospice tells the story of a abusive relationship between a hospice nurse and his dying patient. This album has been on many album of the year lists, and is highly regarded for its intense narrative and raw emotion. The story goes that once the patient recovered, the two felt so elated and eloped but soon realized that they were never truly in love and rushed into things. The moral of the story is to take things slow, to know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this song, the rhythm and tempo is a very important element that gives the listener a sense of urgency, of crumbling, of chaos. The rhythm accentuates this by staying very steady, almost unsettling during the verses when he talks about his relationship, he uses the dynamic parlando. The melody is very condensed and conjunct. It sounds very monotone, almost as if he is talking directly to his partner. You can tell that the singer/narrator of this song cares more about his partners past trauma, than the trauma he is being faced with now. Furthermore, during the chorus, (when he discusses the past), the singer begins to hit each beat a bit harder with more passion. For example, You had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare / You were just a little kid, and they cut your hair / Then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying They should have listened, they thought that you were lying . During this part, you feel a wave of emotion from these words, while the tempo is still steady and fast as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Rape In The Trojan War In the period between April and July 1994, approximately 800,000 Rwandans were killed, and 350,000 Rwandan women were raped. In total, this number equalled about one fifth of the country s population. An informal, political organization called akazu was at the heart of this genocide. Members of the Hutu population, the National police, and the Rwandan army were some of the perpetrators (Bijleveld, Morssinkhof, Smeulers, 2009). Just one year later in July 1995, during the period of the Bosnian war, about 10,000 male Muslim Bosniaks were murdered in the town of Srebrenica. Again, the national government was behind the killings, particularly members of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (Ash, 2013). Responding to these atrocities, ... • 45. Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth. Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large role in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude and longitude on a map may be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn t explain much about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800 s. It was first used to show where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping crime has advanced, giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently. These maps help detectives and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime is most likely to happen far enough from a criminal s home to not raise suspicion, but close enough that the criminals are still feels comfortable with the area. A great example of the positive effects of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we know that a specific area has a higher crime rate, we can increase the police presence in that area to stop the crime before it happens. Mapping of crime and public health have helped the government and general public learn how to improve the quality of life for the people living in that area. • 46. The Trade Of Counterfeit Products Essay Abstract: India is a one of the key markets of counterfeit products in South Asia which has negatively affected its economy since many years. The trade of counterfeit and pirated products hamper the development of knowledge and innovation as it can greatly reduce the economic benefits for the original creator of products. Widespread and rampant piracy and weak intellectual property rights (IPR) dilutes the development of local industry and also endangers the huge investments made in research and development work of organizations. This can lead to loss of competitive advantage as the competitiveness of firms is driven by the firm s ability to innovate and create new products churned from its knowledge capital. Counterfeiting and piracy can exist in the market from within or due to imports from a foreign market but flourishing or controlling of it can be understood majorly by understanding the attitude of Indian consumers towards purchase of counterfeit and pirated products. The studies so far particularly considering IPR infringements have been skewed towards Pharmaceuticals, Entertainment and Information Technology. This paper attempts to investigate and understand the Indian consumers awareness of IPR infringements and their attitudes and intention towards purchase of Home Appliances based on psychographic and demographic factors. • 47. A King Is The Best And Worst Of Men David Anthony Durham once said, A king is the best and worst of men (Durham). By this, he was saying that kings have the potential to leave great legacies or a trail of failures. As a result of kings being chosen by royal succession, rather than actual qualifications, many kings throughout history have been unfit for leadership of a nation. An example of this is The Count of Artois, Charles X of the France. He was uneducated and led a frivolous life. When Louis XVIII died in 1824, Charles X was faced the difficult task of becoming king when no one expected it to happen. He was ultimately unprepared for the job, and exemplified all the qualities of an unfit ruler. When Dr. Seuss wrote Yertle the Turtle , he was not only creating a meaningful children s story, but also providing adults with an important lesson on leadership. He used Yertle as a metaphor for oppressive governance. Yertle s actions can be compared to the actions of Charles X of France and other tyrannical rulers. Greed is an extremely dangerous quality to have in a ruler. The leaders of nations who greed for more land are led to start wars, and the leaders who greed for money crush their citizens with heavy taxes. Yertle is a very greedy Turtle King. When commenting on the extent of his kingdom he says, I m the ruler of all that I see. But I don t see enough. That s the trouble with me (Seuss). Despite ruling literally everything is in his sight he still wants more. This type of insatiability makes for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Alexander The Great Greek Crusader Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. 20th Century DNA Research DNA has been titled the most important scientific discovery of the 20th century. DNA is cells which contain chemicals and It carries the information that determines what you are like. Understanding the structure of DNA allowed other scientists to work on the individual elements of the DNA helix. The biggest research is the human genome project. Numerous number of people consider that the two scientists James Watson and Francis revealed DNA in the 1950s. However, Swiss chemist Friedrich Miescher was first to recognize DNA in the late 1860s. After Miescher s recognition of DNA, it opened new branch to gain knowledge. Phoebus Levene and Erwin Chargaff passed out a series of research determinations which revealed additional information about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data in DNA is primarily read and then it is copied into a messenger molecule. DNA embraces the code for proteins, which are complex molecules that do huge amounts of work around our body. After, the information held in this molecule is translated into a language which the body can understand. Amino acids build blocks of proteins. It is this precise language that commands how the amino acids should produce a particular protein. Moreover, DNA plays an important role in replication. It is vital for the reproduction to the maintenance and growth of cells, tissues, and body systems. A DNA molecule result in a series of bases without pairs along the backbone of the molecule. DNA has four bases all part of a nucleotide. The four bases in DNA are about the base that they will attach to. This means that adenine only pairs with thymine and guanine will only pair with cytosine. Since nucleotides attach with unpaired bases on the backbone of the DNA molecule. it builds a new strand that complements. The result at last is a strand which is a perfect match to the original. When cells replicate in the body it produces new skin and blood cells. If mistakes occur, there are systems to repair the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
