Race Relations Between White Americans And African...
The end of the Civil War brought the United States of America into a period of change and
reconstruction. Race relations between White Americans and African Americans were being formed
and it was still unknown how the two groups would coexist in this new era. One major change, the
black codes, came about as white society and southern states retaliated against the abolishment of
slavery and the loss of their previous lifestyle. Although slaves had been set free and southerners no
longer had the right to own human beings as property, the black codes were passed to suppress African
American s freedom and prevent them from prospering. These laws included the requirements for
African Americans to observe a curfew, sign labor contracts and be

The Technology Of Cloud Computing
1.0 Introduction With the rapid expansion of cloud computing and the escalating hype of future
technology, it is essential to understand the possibilities it can bring to the current and the future
digital world. This report will explore and go into brief detail regarding the technology of cloud
computing. It will cover subject areas such as, what is the cloud, the history, the benefits and the
drawbacks. The report will also look into current cloud systems that are live and are in use which will
include some of our personal views within the report. 2.0 What is Cloud Computing Cloud computing
is a general term used to describe a new class of network based computing that takes place over the
internet, this is a step up from utility computing (which is a collection or a group of integrated and
networked hardware, software on a platform). 3.0 History of Cloud Computing The foundations of
cloud computing can be found back to pre historic times however the idea was formulated in 1961 by
John McCarthy, (when he gave a speech to celebrate the MIT Centennial). McCarthy developed the
concept of computer time sharing, which allows several people to use a single, central, computer at the
same time. If this approach should be implemented, he claimed in 1961, Computing may someday be
organised as a public utility . The concept of time sharing has been made possible by the development
of so called cloud computing (the delivery of computing as a service rather than a

Classroom Behavior Chapter 1 Summary
Chapters 1 and 2 of Managing Classroom Behavior Using Positive Behavior Supports, deals with the
basics of behavior. Google defined behavior as the way in which one acts or conducts oneself,
especially toward others. Chapter 1 discusses how the media tends to put emphasis on weapons and
assault within the school systems but the behaviors viewed as less severe are the ones that teachers
and parents struggle to find explanations for are bullying and defiance. These sorts of behaviors cut
academic learning time when it becomes a problem. The causes of misbehavior can be for various
reasons. Poverty and academic success are the well known complications in students lives. However,
practice management has been set in to place to stop discipline

Native American Missionaries Research Paper
Many people have dedicated their lives as missionaries to foreign lands. There are two basic
categories of missionaries: pioneer and settler. Both types of of equal worth to the cause of the gospel.
The three main parts are Pioneer missionaries, settler missionaries and how they are similar. First,
pioneer missionaries such as the famous David livingstone pave the way for settler missionaries by
planting the precious seeds of the gospel in the hearts of the people as they move from village to
village, spreading the truth. David contributed Many things to the mission field in Africa by mapping
the inland and helping to stop the fast growing slave industry. On his many journeys to reach people,
he also treated their illnesses, taught them

Sports Violence Must Be Abolished
Hockey, football, and boxing all share something in common; and no I am not referring to the skill,
quickness, and finesse that is required for these sports. I am indeed referring to the intense physicality
that all three of these sports strongly value. As a devoted hockey fan, I am a witness to a great part of
the physicality that takes place. Therefore, I am well aware and understand that physicality is crucial
in order to compete in most sports, but we have to draw the line somewhere. When there is primary
intent to injure and physically hurt someone this is considered violence . Violence is becoming
increasingly prevalent in sports, and a majority of society is passive to the negative effects it is
imposing on society. Certain sports fanatics may want to argue that intense physicality and violence is
crucial for entertainment, as it brings in viewers. They may also state that athletes themselves would
not prefer to have that component eliminated as well. In terms of professional hockey, a poll
conducted by the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) revealed that a staggering 98
percent of hockey players did not want the fighting component to be eliminated in hockey, thus
confirming that most athletes may want the physical nature to remain the same. However, extended
research revealed that approximately 68 percent of Canadian hockey fans disagreed with the players
and wanted fighting in professional hockey to be eliminated. Keeping that surprising

Effect Of Advertising On Children Essay
Effect of Advertising on Children Advertising is something that everyone sees, whether that be driving
down the road, listening to the radio, or watching television everyone is bound to see some. Children
growing up today cannot go a day without checking Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. These children
are always on their phones or watching television so they see these advertisements hundreds of times a
month. When watching television, it is impossible not to see an advertisement about sugary or fast
food, alcohol, or sexual advertisements which are all affecting today s children and adolescents.
Although most of these advertisements are focused towards adults, they hit children and adolescents
the hardest. In late April of 2011 the New York times published a story about the use of cartoon
characters in the commercials of cereal brands. In this article, they speak about the Federal Trade
Commission enacting new rules on big name cereal brands such as Fruit Loops. The guidelines
released by the Federal Trade Commission included television and print ads, Web sites, online games
disguised as camouflaged advertisements, social media, product placement in movies, the use of
movie characters in cross promotions and fast food children s meals (Neuman). As this article was
published in 2011 I remember how many different cereal advertisements there were on television
when I watched, but, now a day I see much less advertisements about these overly sugary cereals in
part due to

The Importance Of Dress Codes
Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are nothing
new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett on the Toronto
Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at their habits... often
expressed by their wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes pose to have no actual
effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress code or without it kids will
do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable adults in the working class (
Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes have been proven unnecessary and therefore, have no
positive benefits on students.
Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George for
the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her leggings
which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are shown
supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil
right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and engage in body
shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being given the right to
determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s
doing something wrong and should be ashamed of

Summary Of Pinnocchio And The God Of Small Things
The Oxford Dictionary defines a bildungsroman as A novel that has as its main theme the formative
years or spiritual education of one person , and in this essay, I am going to prove that both Carlo
Collodi s The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883) (hereafter referred to as Pinocchio ) and Arundhati Roy
s The God of Small Things (1997) are both bildungsromans. To prove this argument is correct, I will:
concentrate on the experiences of the children within Roy s work (Estha, Sophie Mol, and Rahel),
focus on the responses from other characters to Pinocchio s choices to form a judgement as to whether
the children in the selected texts do positively develop or regress in their education, and analyse the
narrative style of the two aforementioned texts.
It is important to consider that whilst The God of Small Things was written in a third person
omniscient narrative, Pinocchio was written in a third person limited narrative, and both narratives
enable the reader to clearly understand the motives behind the actions and decisions of the characters.
Both Richard Wunderlich and Thomas J. Morrissey argue that Pinocchio for adults, he had written
successful political commentary and satire whilst For children, he had translated fairy tales and written
school textbooks (pg. 5). Therefore, it depends on the reader s age which influences whether they
believe that Pinocchio learns or does not, since Pinocchio can be regarded as a school textbook or a
fairy tale . Wunderlich

How Wegman s Inventory Management Practice Is The Point...
Another proposed method for improving Wegman s inventory management practice is the point of sale
system. The POS system is a perpetual inventory counting method that electronically records items
immediately upon their point of sale (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). In other words, as a cashier scans a
customer s groceries, each scanned item is automatically recorded in the system and deducted from
the store s inventory. Implementing a point of sale would benefit a business s inventory management
function in several ways. First, the POS system will provide managers with a continuous flow of
updated information (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). As a result, the information will provide more
accuracy when used for sales forecasts and analysis, which substantially affect inventory decisions.
Continuously, this inventory system would also allow greater flexibility in the sense that it can be
wirelessly linked to the main company s inventory system, creating a network of the company s
inventory systems. The POS system is capable of tracking many operations at once and can be
modified according to management s needs (MacCarthy, n.d.). This flexibility would undoubtedly
benefit a large company like Wegman s with many store locations. Lastly, the system is able to help
businesses maintain a high level of customer service. Because the system gives customers a receipt
with the price and quantity of each item purchased, the customer is able to see exactly what he or she
purchased. This practice

William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Clarice Paul
Mr. Lopes
ENG3U1 06
1/14/15
Human beings strive to have better knowledge and intellect in their daily lives. However, can the
power of intelligence be considered a negative aspect? In the play, Hamlet written by William
Shakespeare, the topic of intelligence is a predominant theme that is woven through two of the main
characters: Hamlet and Claudius. Although Hamlet and Claudius are sworn enemies, they are much
more similar in character than meets the eye. Even though Hamlet appears to be insane, he actually
deceives the other characters to retaliate his father s wicked murder. Hamlet s strong use of words and
his significant soliloquies shows that he is well aware of what is happening around him. Similarly,
Claudius is truly the king of deception and trickery. Although, he seems to have the whole kingdom
fooled about his identity, Hamlet is the only one who is able to use his intelligence to see through the
King s façade. Similarly, Hamlet s insanity appears to deceive everyone, except Claudius, who
believes there is something more to it. Both Claudius and Hamlet use intelligence to gain power, to
discover the concealed truth, and ultimately to get revenge.
Firstly, Hamlet and Claudius use intelligence to gain power. Claudius murders his own brother to
accumulate power and seize the throne of Denmark. He pretends to mourn the loss of his brother when
he says, though the passing of our dear brother s death, the memory be green, and that it us befitted, to

Essay about The uncertainties of using a ruler and caliper
The uncertainties of measurements using a ruler, caliper, and spring scales.
Isaiah Gonzales, Roman Acuna
September 19, 2014
Abstract: The experimenters conducted a total of four mini labs. In each lab they had to find
measurements dealing with different instruments such as a ruler, caliper, stopwatch, and two spring
scales of different newtons. The objective in each experiment was to record and measure different
objects and to also give advantages and uncertainties when dealing with different instruments. The
experimenters found that each instrument comes with an uncertainty. When dealing with a ruler, the
measurement can be very accurate but is not as precise as a caliper. The caliper was the most precise
instrument that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final experiment, Density of the Mass Set, the experimenters used the vernier caliper to lead
them to the volume of some of the figures in the mass set, and this eventually led them to find the
density.

10 N Spring Scale
Procedures: Step one: The experimenters used the vernier caliper to measure the height of a 100 g
mass(from the mass set).
Step two: They recorded the height on the table and included an uncertainty.
Step three: The experimenters repeated the process to measure the diameter of the 100 g mass.
Step four: The experimenters calibrated the 10 N spring scale, and confirmed the mass of 100 g mass.
Step five: Then they recorded the mass and uncertainty onto the table.
Step six: After this, they used the equation, Density = Mass/Volume, to find the density of the 100 g
mass and recorded it onto the table.

Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization...
Zachary Golden
Final Paper Outline
Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program within
an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four key areas
that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing career
development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well planned
job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also increases the
overall job satisfaction of employees.
Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person is
developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the entire
operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a company s
processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying work to
provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is closely
linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal is to
provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume a
higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management in a
business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job
rotation involves the

How Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Is An Effective...
Microvascular reconstructive flap surgery is an effective way for the medical team to improve the
appearance or functionality of a surgical or existing tissue defect. Microvascular free tissue transfers,
or free flaps, are monitored for arterial and venous insufficiency for several days during the post
operative period. The gold standard for flap monitoring includes the clinical inspection of color,
capillary refill, temperature, and turgor of the transplanted tissue involved. Due to limited alternative
reconstructive options available to patients, accurate and timely flap assessments are critical to the
viability of the flap. Unfortunately post operative complications are sometimes unavoidable, however
monitoring by a trained clinician is associated with early flap salvage rates that in turn improve patient
care outcomes (Salgado, Chim, Shoenoff, Mardini, 2010).
This performance improvement proposal explores the efficiency and accuracy of using telemedicine as
an adjunct method of free flap monitoring comparted to traditional methods. This proposal will
discuss the relevance of using digital photographs and internet technology as a means to improve
response times between the nurse and the primary plastic surgeon that increase salvage rates of
ischemic flaps. Conclusive findings from two studies involving 200 free flaps indicate that digital
photographs and smart phone communication resulted timely intervention by the plastic that
contributed to the success of flap

My Personal Philosophy of Nursing Essay
This paper is a first attempt at forming and articulating my own philosophy of nursing.
Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being
enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my personal
journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about nursing and
related values, and my visions for the future.
The Nursing Choice Nursing came in a round about way for me. I had little direction when I graduated
high school and had already disregarded the nursing field due to an incident with a family member
(who was a nurse) that had left a negative impression about the nursing field on me. I entered college

Care enough to listen, to do a thorough job at all you do whether it be assessing, documenting or
routine patient care. Care enough to see beyond the chief complaint and think about what may be the
root cause of the patients symptoms. Care enough to be ethical at all times and to complete invasive
and potentially embarrassing procedures with as much empathy and compassion as possible. Care
enough to connect to and treat your patient and their families and visitors with respect and dignity. Do
everything in your power to provide the most suitable environment and emotional tone for the patient,
and care enough to strive for the best possible outcome for the patient, both in the hospital and
beyond, advocating for the patient when necessary. Even by definition the word care can be applied to
different aspects of nursing. According to The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English (2009),
among the meanings of the word care are:
1. The provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone
or something.
2. Serious attention or consideration applied to doing something correctly or to avoid damage or risk.
3. Feel concern or interest; attach importance to something. Upon reading about the different nursing
philosophies and the ANA Code of Ethics, I found that this core value, my perceived essence of
nursing, is supported by both historical and ethical factors. Jean Watson s entire

Bags come in boxes that manufacturers use for shipping via small package delivery to a fragmented
base of retail customers. But shoes ship to retailers in bulk packaging rather than individual boxes (
(Laseter, Rabinovich, Huang, 2006)). So when companies like eBags use drop ship order process,
there is an additional shipping cost to the manufacturer to repackage shoes and ship shoes to the
customer. Shoes have a short product life cycle and also suffer a high return rate. Some customers
order more than one pair with an idea to return the pair that does not fit. Thus shoes carry a much
higher cost to serve and selling them online requires a different business model. A comparison of a
potential acquisition candidate for eBags in footwear, Shodeni, shows that the SKU count is very high
for shoes compared to luggage or bags and eBags should be extremely efficient if it has to handle that
high SKU. eBags should add call centers to handle calls from customers in addition to support through
the website. They should continue with the strategy of having manufacturers send the shipment
directly to the customer.

Music has long been my biggest passion. As a child, it was always around me: Beethoven sonatas and
Chopin concerti would fill my house, so much so that I begged my parents to start me on piano. I

Since then, I have developed a love for performance. Onstage, I feel perfectly at home with the

The Fascination Effects Of Music On The Human Mind
The Fascination Effects of Music on the Human Mind; Framing Intuition and Perception
From ancient times, music has held great importance to cultures all over the world. Music remains one
language that is ever evolving; it refuses to die away. From that day almost 40,000 years ago, one of
the first musicians picked up a vulture s bone and decided to make a flute out of it, till this day, music
has held a power that no other language will ever hold. The importance of music has indeed waxed
greater and greater through the centuries. From its use for story telling, ceremonial purposes, social
and religious practices, etc, there has been a great expansion of its uses. Majority of the masses do not
realize this, but music has become an unavoidable part of our daily lives. With its use in movies,
advertisement, shopping centers, elevators, buses, etc, not a day goes by without each person hearing
some kind of music. As its forms have expanded so have its uses. Its undeniable effects over the
human mind have not gone unrecognized by researchers and scientists. Music is a much more
extremely powerful tool than the masses realize, it has the ability to influence and frame one s
decisions, intuition, mood, interpretation and overall perception of things. It s constant use in
advertisement and film sheds a great deal of light on this. With the countless numbers of research and
experiments used to prove this fact, it is no wonder advertisers and movie makers have capitalized on
it.

Richard Adams Watership Down Analysis
The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good
government Thomas Jefferson. In Richard Adams Watership Down, the rabbits in the story all live in
groups on separate areas of land. These areas are called warrens, and there are three main warrens that
will be discussed in this essay. Each of the three warrens have a different type of governments being
run inside of them. The Sandleford Warren, the Efrafa Warren and the Watership Down Warren are all
ran differently. Each warren has modern world equivalences relating to their governments. In the
following paragraphs you will be able to see which modern world government matches up, and is
present in each of the three warrens in Watership Down.
The first warren is the Sandleford Warren, this warren is a communistic government. It is a communist
government because all rabbits live under the order of the chief rabbit Threarah.. All the rabbits know
to respect the chief rabbit especially if you are in a lower class like the rabbit Hazel. I m awfully sorry,
Chief Rabbit Hazel pg12. The chief rabbit and his communist government want to control all the
social classes and money in the area he controls. There are three social classes in the Sandleford
Warren, the Chief Rabbit, the Owsla and the Outskirters. Outskirters that is, the rank and file of
ordinary rabbits in their first year pg4. All these social classes are controlled by the Chief Rabbit. Mao
Zedong started a communist government in China in 1927 and just as Chief Rabbit controlled the
social classes of his warren, Mao Zedong controlled the social classes of the country of China. In a
real life communist government the leader of the government will control the country s money. In the
warrens the rabbit do not have money but the one controllable factor is food. The caste system ran by
the chief rabbit lets you know what you eat and when, determined by class. Cowslips are for the
Owsla* don t you know that? Toadflax pg5. Cowslips are a food for upper class as Toadflax tells an
outskirter. Through class system, control of goods and one single leader you are able to see how the
Sandleford Warren is a communist government. Efrafa is the second Warren and

Cold weather contracts blood vessels. Hence, heart attacks, migraines, and high blood pressure,
caused by constriction of blood vessels and insufficient blood flow, can be triggered by cold weather.
According to research conducted by the New England Center for Headache, as many as half of all
migraines are triggered by weather conditions. This applies for Raynaud s phenomenon where the
blood vessels dilate and blood flow is disrupted.
Cold weather increases joint stiffness and affects people with arthritis. Arthritis patients believe that
the lower the barometric pressure, the greater the pain in the joints. An example is that the residents at
the North Shore Hotel note when the barometric pressure goes down, their pain goes up. Their arthritis
goes into overdrive before a storm.
Nerve fiber coverings break down more easily, causing Multiple sclerosis to happen more frequently
in cold weather. For Fibromyalgia Syndrome, a 1981 survey reported that more than 90% of the
patients felt worse in cold and humid weather. Changes in barometric pressure affected those with the
syndrome.
Sinus headaches are caused by barometric pressure as the nasal cavities are not able to adapt quickly
to the change in air pressure. Asthma is often caused by high winds as these bring pollen and particles
which some have allergies to.
In our research, we have also found out that sunlight can be both beneficial and harmful to the human
body. The

Stereotypes In King Kong
The character of Kong, according to the race reading, independently acts as a semiotic representation
of the white man s perception of black men. The film s narrative takes us to Africa, asks the audience
to embark on an adventure to a land so lost to the modern world that its inhabitants exist side by side
with dinosaurs, which Brian McKay argues to be the most obvious symbol for the perceived primitive
nature of Africa and Blacks (McKay, 2005) The gorilla that they bring back from that island may now

O Rourke comments that this is one of the primary challenges of the remake of King Kong stating that
the film must offer up a more plausible sexual politics an update to Cooper s archetypal damsel in
distress menaced by a powerful, chest beating simian. (O Rourke, 2005) The initial way in which this
is done is by modernizing the gender role of the Ann Darrow character. While Fay Wray s portrayal
may have been the archetypal damsel in distress in early 20th century cinema, Watts Darrow is more
faithful to the image the post World War II, post Women s Liberation woman. Edelstein applauds this
change, stating that the filmmakers astutely [...] de bimboify Ann Darrow, who s now a vaudeville

tempted, but she won t debase herself by doing striptease. She s inspired by the work of Jack Driscoll,
a social dramatist in the Clifford Odets mode. (Edelstein, 2005) When she comes face to face with
Kong she is obviously initially terrified, but in a later scene where he entertains himself by pushing
her to the ground she angrily tells him to stop, which he reluctantly obeys. Watts Ann is a strong,
independent, and intelligent character far more likely to generate empathy amongst a modern female

greed. Over time, if we do not change our course, our Mother Nature will not remain the same. No
more can any sensible person take this planet as the provider of resources for man, yielding new
largesse to every demand without limit. Her resources will be exhausted. We will value them only
when they are gone.
In Mother Nature, everything is integrated. Everything comes from her and returns to her. She
manifests herself in so many forms. She assumes the form of feminine earth, fertile and bringing forth
earthly creation. She lies all around us with such a balancing act and such affection for all of her
children! She smells sweet and blossoms forth with such a breath taking variety of forms and colors.
Her hues are breathtaking. Her compassion is never wasted, whether we seize it or not; but, if we live
in accordance with nature, we will be

Yahoo! has snubbed a revised Microsoft offer, $47.5bn ($33 a share), Yang insisting that Yahoo!

strategic alliance against Google.
In a letter to Yang, Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, said: I am disappointed. [Our offer] remains the
only alternative that provides, for your stockholders, full and fair value. You have left significant value
on the table. Yang now has to prove he can boost Yahoo! s share price and justify his board s decision.
Ballmer wrote: Our discussions led us to conclude that you would take steps to make Yahoo!
undesirable. We regard with particular concern your plan to respond to a hostile bid by outsourcing to
Google key paid internet search facilities currently offered by Yahoo! Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP,
an advertising agency, who wants to see a stronger rival to Google, commented: Microsoft showed
self discipline by not bidding higher. Microsoft is a $300bn company with plenty of other ideas. The

A. R. Ammons And Clearances Essay
These two elegies are written by different people that reveal a personal experience and reactions
towards loss, death, change, and nature. These themes are prevalent because the speaker wants the
reader to acknowledge and understand how human beings can conflict pain on their selves by not
changing and letting go of the past. Nonetheless, there are differences between these two elegies by
the year it was written. The two elegies are Easter morning by A. R. Ammons and Clearances by
Seamus Heaney, and the poem is carefully designed to emphasize on their situation and how their life
experiences has refresh the idea of an old theme know in poetry, which are the changes noted in
nature, and how difficult it is for human to move on. The elegy of Easter Morning by A.R. Ammons,
describes a situation where the speaker questions his life and the potential life he could have had, or
the path he could have taken, and the loss of his childhood. The speaker uses nature to present to the
audience that everything in life changes, yet, it is hard on him because he recalls on memories. The
speaker knows he struggles with change because he keeps on going to the grave and asking the same
questions of what was wrong or what went wrong. This indicates how guilty the speaker feels, for he

people: a) to make healthier food options b) to eat the food provided for them There are many ways to
encourage children to eat healthier and keep healthy eating exiting. Such as: Cooking together with a
child Let the child pack a packed lunch Grow own vegetables and fruit Make a collage on healthy
eating Make funny faces on plates out of fruit Show children how to grow vegetables Take children
food shopping Making the child feel more involved in preparing food and making them feel that their
in control they will be more likely to eat the healthy food. It is important not to use food as a reward as
this can have an impact on an emotional relationship with food. Food shouldn t be used to comfort a
child either, but allow them to help prepare where possible. Making the food look as attractive as
possible can attract children to trying something new, and make dinner time fun. Most families try and
eat together, this can be to make sure the child eats and try and respect the foods the child genuinely

Janet Kourany s Analysis
The words ally, promise, and egalitarian have no place in science. Virtuous though they may be, these
words, all of which Janet Kourany uses to describe her ideal socially responsible science, besmirch
science s fundamental and essential impartiality. Though the argument that science has slighted
women is undeniably true at certain points throughout our nation s history, it does not justify the
radical redefinition of science that Kourany proposes. In a lengthy precursor to its thought provoking
conclusion, the article contemplates science s role in documenting [women s] inferiority and
neglecting women s needs and priorities (Kourany 8). Implicating it as a field guilty of the former
injustice, psychology is the first science to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wholly agree with publicly funded science s need to keep in mind the society for which it works
when considering resource allocation, but I entirely disagree with Kourany s understanding of the
word society and therefore also find this argument unmoving. Society is singular; it is one whole. To
argue that science should be responsive to society is fair, but to argue that science should be
responsive to an arbitrarily defined demographic within the greater society is unjustifiable.
Furthermore, if we accept Kourany s argument, that science should be particularly responsive to the
people who ultimately [pay] for science, should science then ignore or be less responsive to the people
who pay less (Kourany 13)? Should science focus primarily on ailments that consistently affect
Caucasians, the largest racial demographic in the United States? Should science ignore the
disconcerting prevalence of diabetes among less wealthy demographics because these communities
contribute less to science s monetary base? I, and I imagine most Americans, would vehemently
oppose these suggestions in favor of a science uniformly responsive to the needs of the entire society,
society as a whole rather than a collection of

The Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change Advice For...
The Intergovernmental panel on Climate Change advice for policy makers is a book with various
statistics and facts about what the scientific community has been noticing about the changing
environment. The hope for the panel when making this booklet is that they could help guide policy
makers towards making more informed decisions about their policies and the effect it is having on the
environment. While some of the evidence is almost indisputable many politicians still argue their
validity due to personal beliefs or because they receive campaign donations from companies who do
not want to see environmental policies change. The booklet is split up into three different parts,
observations of the changes in the environment around us, future risks these changes can have, and
how to manage these risks and build a sustainable planet for everybody. The booklet describes many
various pieces of evidence from what they have seen around the world and have even rated their
certainty on their hypothesizes. The section starts out about how the global temperature has been
increasing rapidly over the past century. They also state that the reason the temperature has been rising
is due to human activity and the rise in the amount of greenhouse gases that we release. The amount of
human death we had so far is unknown due to the wide cause of effects the rising temperature can
have. Nobody knows how much food is lost from climate change or how many water borne illnesses
have killed people

Life s Little Treasures Preschool
Philosophy Statement
At Life s Little Treasures Preschool, we believe that play is a fundamental part of your child s
upbringing, and recognise that there is a symbiotic relationship between place, learning and
development (Fleer, 2013, p. 184), which is greatest supported through our natural environments and a
sociocultural philosophy of Early Childhood Education inspired by Lev Vygotsky (Berk, 2006).
Our preschool s outdoor play area provides limitless opportunities for your children to learn through
play, whilst acquiring respect and an appreciation for nature and their environment, working towards
and achieving all five Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Outcomes (Australian Department of
Education, Employment and Workplace, [ADEEW] , 2009)
At our center we strongly encourage both family and community members to actively involve
themselves in our outdoor play areas as much as they can. This in turn will help with the development
of your child s sense of belonging, being and becoming (ADEEW, 2009) which is vital for growth and
development formation but in addition willl also strengthen their play experience, feeling of wellbeing
and overall learning (Australian Children s Education Care Quality Authority [ACECQA, 2013,
standard 6).
Child Safety
Keeping children safe in our outdoor learning area is a top priority. All children have the right to
experience high quality education and care, in a learning environment that provides for their
protection through

The Puritanical Bans Introduced By The Almohads
In addition to the puritanical bans introduced by the Almohads, the movement also subjected the
dhimmi population to violence. Going further than the Almoravids, the Almohads were responsible for
massacres and forced conversions of Jews and Christians alike, driving them into Christian Iberia. By
1200, the indigenous Christian inhabitants of al Andalus had, for the most part, been forcibly
converted or rooted out. The only Christians left in the area were prisoners of war, mercenaries, and
merchants. To emphasize the severity of the treatment of the dhimmis by the Almohad rulers, in 1224,
an Almohad chronicler, al Marrakushi, made the claim that, No pact of protection has been signed
between us and the Jews or the Christians since the rise of Almohad power. It was not only the
Christians who were persecuted by the Almohad movement, as Jews were also the object of abject
discrimination. In addition to his previous statement, al Marrakushi also noted that In all the regions of
the west there are no synagogues or churches. The Almohads under Caliph Yaqub (1194 1199) became
increasingly paranoid about crypto Judaism in Jewish families which had converted to Islam. Such
was his paranoia and contempt for these families that he demanded that they put on a humiliating garb
consisting of black clothing with sleeves that reached all the way down to the wearer s ankles in
addition to a hat with ear flaps. It was in this manner that the Jewish ethnicity was discriminated

Biological Theory Of Crime

There are various theories of crime, and they are general Social disorganization theory, rational

Rotary Youth Leadership Analysis
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards has a special place in my heart because I feel that it has truly
changed my life. When I arrived at RYLA for the first time I had no idea what to expect and as I
stepped out of my school s van I was overwhelmed by the amount of excitement in the air but by the
end of the day I was already hooked. After my camper year I knew I had to try to come back as a CIT
and then again as a Chief. Now that I have been able to experience RYLA from all three angles it is
safe to say that it can truly change a young persons life. The meaning of leadership can vary
depending on the person but to me leadership is the way a person, or group, leads a group of people in
a task. Everyone has their own form of leadership but I personally prefer to lead by example as well as
consult with the group before I make a decision. I feel that with this form of leadership I will never be
asking someone to do something that I wouldn t do myself, and it allows for members to become
involved in the decision making. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bad Effects Of Dehorning Rhinos
Imagine you re an animal, careless and free, your only worries being survival. Now imagine a foreign
creature ripping off a part of you, leaving you to die. Thats whats happening to rhinos. Rhinos are
getting poached for their horns, and conservationists are starting to remove their horns, so they don t
get poached in the first place. Rhinos being dehorned is not good thing because poachers still attempt
to get the remaining horn, it affects the rhinos long term wellbeing, and rhino owners who then receive
the horns for safekeeping may get robbed. All of these limit a rhino s survival and social status with
other rhinos and such. Dehorning rhinos is not a great idea because poachers attempt to get the growth
plate, it affects their long term wellbeing, and rhino owners can get robbed.
First of all, dehorning rhinos is not a good idea because poachers will still attempt to get the growth
plate. In order to not harm the rhino when cutting of the horn, you must leave the growth plate so the
horn can grow back later. It is because of this chunk that is still left inside the rhinos head that
poachers will still attempt to kill and take whatever they can get of the rhinos horn. says Youth 4
African Wildlife (a conservation group). Rhinos will still end up dying ... Show more content on

When considering the choice of dehorning rhinos, the choice should definitely be to not dehorn them.
Dehorning rhinos can get people robbed, can damage rhinos physically, may ruin relations with other
rhinos and make it more difficult for rhinos to survive and get used to living without a horn. Our
world is suffering enough, let us rest a little easier by letting these precious animals live the way they
should live, in their rightful bodies. There s a reason they were born with horns. If we were in their
places, out in the wild, we wouldn t want our body to be torn into pieces just for a piece of

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Another example of this appears on pg. 148 quot;Perhaps
amp;#8230;about. quot; This section shows how the main character, Jake Barnes, does not care if he
truly learns anything in life and only wants to know how to get by. If in life you never learn anything,
then it is almost impossible to change. Jake Barnes unwillingness to learn shows that later in his life
he will have little or no change as he did for the book, yet again showing the theme of a constant or
unchanging course. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The incident where Bocanegra kills a man in the
crowd while being loaded off the truck for the fight later that night is a subtle example of the theme,
the bill always comes. (On pg. 199 quot; The amp;#8230; Pamplona. quot;) The example shown here
is the bull kills a man and later the will get its punishment from Pedro Romero. The bull has
committed a violent and deadly act against man so, in turn, he (the bull) will be smitten in view of
hundreds of spectators. This shows how things in life will always have a steady course of action,
which is shown in this rather subtle example. A far better example of the thematic interpretation
conveyed in the prior paragraph, is the character of Mike. Mike is very high and mighty when arriving
in Pamplona with his lady, Brett. He continues to inflate his ego by insulting Robert Cohn with out
any feeling of remorse. Mike

  • 2. Race Relations Between White Americans And African... The end of the Civil War brought the United States of America into a period of change and reconstruction. Race relations between White Americans and African Americans were being formed and it was still unknown how the two groups would coexist in this new era. One major change, the black codes, came about as white society and southern states retaliated against the abolishment of slavery and the loss of their previous lifestyle. Although slaves had been set free and southerners no longer had the right to own human beings as property, the black codes were passed to suppress African American s freedom and prevent them from prospering. These laws included the requirements for African Americans to observe a curfew, sign labor contracts and be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Technology Of Cloud Computing 1.0 Introduction With the rapid expansion of cloud computing and the escalating hype of future technology, it is essential to understand the possibilities it can bring to the current and the future digital world. This report will explore and go into brief detail regarding the technology of cloud computing. It will cover subject areas such as, what is the cloud, the history, the benefits and the drawbacks. The report will also look into current cloud systems that are live and are in use which will include some of our personal views within the report. 2.0 What is Cloud Computing Cloud computing is a general term used to describe a new class of network based computing that takes place over the internet, this is a step up from utility computing (which is a collection or a group of integrated and networked hardware, software on a platform). 3.0 History of Cloud Computing The foundations of cloud computing can be found back to pre historic times however the idea was formulated in 1961 by John McCarthy, (when he gave a speech to celebrate the MIT Centennial). McCarthy developed the concept of computer time sharing, which allows several people to use a single, central, computer at the same time. If this approach should be implemented, he claimed in 1961, Computing may someday be organised as a public utility . The concept of time sharing has been made possible by the development of so called cloud computing (the delivery of computing as a service rather than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Google defined behavior as the way in which one acts or conducts oneself, especially toward others. Chapter 1 discusses how the media tends to put emphasis on weapons and assault within the school systems but the behaviors viewed as less severe are the ones that teachers and parents struggle to find explanations for are bullying and defiance. These sorts of behaviors cut academic learning time when it becomes a problem. The causes of misbehavior can be for various reasons. Both types of of equal worth to the cause of the gospel. The three main parts are Pioneer missionaries, settler missionaries and how they are similar. First, pioneer missionaries such as the famous David livingstone pave the way for settler missionaries by planting the precious seeds of the gospel in the hearts of the people as they move from village to village, spreading the truth. David contributed Many things to the mission field in Africa by mapping the inland and helping to stop the fast growing slave industry. • 6. Sports Violence Must Be Abolished Hockey, football, and boxing all share something in common; and no I am not referring to the skill, quickness, and finesse that is required for these sports. I am indeed referring to the intense physicality that all three of these sports strongly value. As a devoted hockey fan, I am a witness to a great part of the physicality that takes place. Therefore, I am well aware and understand that physicality is crucial in order to compete in most sports, but we have to draw the line somewhere. When there is primary intent to injure and physically hurt someone this is considered violence . Violence is becoming increasingly prevalent in sports, and a majority of society is passive to the negative effects it is imposing on society. Certain sports fanatics may want to argue that intense physicality and violence is crucial for entertainment, as it brings in viewers. They may also state that athletes themselves would not prefer to have that component eliminated as well. In terms of professional hockey, a poll conducted by the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) revealed that a staggering 98 percent of hockey players did not want the fighting component to be eliminated in hockey, thus confirming that most athletes may want the physical nature to remain the same. However, extended research revealed that approximately 68 percent of Canadian hockey fans disagreed with the players and wanted fighting in professional hockey to be eliminated. • 7. Effect Of Advertising On Children Essay Effect of Advertising on Children Advertising is something that everyone sees, whether that be driving down the road, listening to the radio, or watching television everyone is bound to see some. Children growing up today cannot go a day without checking Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. These children are always on their phones or watching television so they see these advertisements hundreds of times a month. When watching television, it is impossible not to see an advertisement about sugary or fast food, alcohol, or sexual advertisements which are all affecting today s children and adolescents. Although most of these advertisements are focused towards adults, they hit children and adolescents the hardest. In late April of 2011 the New York times published a story about the use of cartoon characters in the commercials of cereal brands. In this article, they speak about the Federal Trade Commission enacting new rules on big name cereal brands such as Fruit Loops. The guidelines released by the Federal Trade Commission included television and print ads, Web sites, online games disguised as camouflaged advertisements, social media, product placement in movies, the use of movie characters in cross promotions and fast food children s meals (Neuman). As this article was published in 2011 I remember how many different cereal advertisements there were on television when I watched, but, now a day I see much less advertisements about these overly sugary cereals in part due to ... • 8. The Importance Of Dress Codes Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are nothing new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett on the Toronto Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at their habits... often expressed by their wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes pose to have no actual effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress code or without it kids will do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable adults in the working class ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes have been proven unnecessary and therefore, have no positive benefits on students. Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George for the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her leggings which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are shown supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and engage in body shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being given the right to determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s doing something wrong and should be ashamed of ... • 9. Summary Of Pinnocchio And The God Of Small Things The Oxford Dictionary defines a bildungsroman as A novel that has as its main theme the formative years or spiritual education of one person , and in this essay, I am going to prove that both Carlo Collodi s The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883) (hereafter referred to as Pinocchio ) and Arundhati Roy s The God of Small Things (1997) are both bildungsromans. To prove this argument is correct, I will: concentrate on the experiences of the children within Roy s work (Estha, Sophie Mol, and Rahel), focus on the responses from other characters to Pinocchio s choices to form a judgement as to whether the children in the selected texts do positively develop or regress in their education, and analyse the narrative style of the two aforementioned texts. It is important to consider that whilst The God of Small Things was written in a third person omniscient narrative, Pinocchio was written in a third person limited narrative, and both narratives enable the reader to clearly understand the motives behind the actions and decisions of the characters. Both Richard Wunderlich and Thomas J. Morrissey argue that Pinocchio for adults, he had written successful political commentary and satire whilst For children, he had translated fairy tales and written school textbooks (pg. 5). Therefore, it depends on the reader s age which influences whether they believe that Pinocchio learns or does not, since Pinocchio can be regarded as a school textbook or a fairy tale . • 10. How Wegman s Inventory Management Practice Is The Point... Another proposed method for improving Wegman s inventory management practice is the point of sale system. The POS system is a perpetual inventory counting method that electronically records items immediately upon their point of sale (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). In other words, as a cashier scans a customer s groceries, each scanned item is automatically recorded in the system and deducted from the store s inventory. Implementing a point of sale would benefit a business s inventory management function in several ways. First, the POS system will provide managers with a continuous flow of updated information (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). As a result, the information will provide more accuracy when used for sales forecasts and analysis, which substantially affect inventory decisions. Continuously, this inventory system would also allow greater flexibility in the sense that it can be wirelessly linked to the main company s inventory system, creating a network of the company s inventory systems. The POS system is capable of tracking many operations at once and can be modified according to management s needs (MacCarthy, n.d.). This flexibility would undoubtedly benefit a large company like Wegman s with many store locations. Lastly, the system is able to help businesses maintain a high level of customer service. Because the system gives customers a receipt with the price and quantity of each item purchased, the customer is able to see exactly what he or she purchased. This practice ... • 11. William Shakespeare s Hamlet Clarice Paul Mr. Lopes ENG3U1 06 1/14/15 Human beings strive to have better knowledge and intellect in their daily lives. However, can the power of intelligence be considered a negative aspect? In the play, Hamlet written by William Shakespeare, the topic of intelligence is a predominant theme that is woven through two of the main characters: Hamlet and Claudius. Although Hamlet and Claudius are sworn enemies, they are much more similar in character than meets the eye. Even though Hamlet appears to be insane, he actually deceives the other characters to retaliate his father s wicked murder. Hamlet s strong use of words and his significant soliloquies shows that he is well aware of what is happening around him. Similarly, Claudius is truly the king of deception and trickery. Although, he seems to have the whole kingdom fooled about his identity, Hamlet is the only one who is able to use his intelligence to see through the King s façade. Similarly, Hamlet s insanity appears to deceive everyone, except Claudius, who believes there is something more to it. Both Claudius and Hamlet use intelligence to gain power, to discover the concealed truth, and ultimately to get revenge. Firstly, Hamlet and Claudius use intelligence to gain power. Claudius murders his own brother to accumulate power and seize the throne of Denmark. He pretends to mourn the loss of his brother when he says, though the passing of our dear brother s death, the memory be green, and that it us befitted, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective in each experiment was to record and measure different objects and to also give advantages and uncertainties when dealing with different instruments. • 13. Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization... Zachary Golden Final Paper Outline Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program within an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four key areas that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing career development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well planned job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also increases the overall job satisfaction of employees. Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person is developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the entire operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a company s processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying work to provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is closely linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal is to provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume a higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management in a business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job rotation involves the ... • 14. How Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Is An Effective... Microvascular reconstructive flap surgery is an effective way for the medical team to improve the appearance or functionality of a surgical or existing tissue defect. Microvascular free tissue transfers, or free flaps, are monitored for arterial and venous insufficiency for several days during the post operative period. The gold standard for flap monitoring includes the clinical inspection of color, capillary refill, temperature, and turgor of the transplanted tissue involved. Due to limited alternative reconstructive options available to patients, accurate and timely flap assessments are critical to the viability of the flap. Unfortunately post operative complications are sometimes unavoidable, however monitoring by a trained clinician is associated with early flap salvage rates that in turn improve patient care outcomes (Salgado, Chim, Shoenoff, Mardini, 2010). This performance improvement proposal explores the efficiency and accuracy of using telemedicine as an adjunct method of free flap monitoring comparted to traditional methods. This proposal will discuss the relevance of using digital photographs and internet technology as a means to improve response times between the nurse and the primary plastic surgeon that increase salvage rates of ischemic flaps. Conclusive findings from two studies involving 200 free flaps indicate that digital photographs and smart phone communication resulted timely intervention by the plastic that contributed to the success of flap ... • 15. My Personal Philosophy of Nursing Essay This paper is a first attempt at forming and articulating my own philosophy of nursing. Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my personal journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about nursing and related values, and my visions for the future. The Nursing Choice Nursing came in a round about way for me. I had little direction when I graduated high school and had already disregarded the nursing field due to an incident with a family member (who was a nurse) that had left a negative impression about the nursing field on me. I entered college planning on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Care enough to listen, to do a thorough job at all you do whether it be assessing, documenting or routine patient care. Care enough to connect to and treat your patient and their families and visitors with respect and dignity. Do everything in your power to provide the most suitable environment and emotional tone for the patient, and care enough to strive for the best possible outcome for the patient, both in the hospital and beyond, advocating for the patient when necessary. Even by definition the word care can be applied to different aspects of nursing. According to The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English (2009), among the meanings of the word care are: 1. The provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone or something. 2. Serious attention or consideration applied to doing something correctly or to avoid damage or risk. 3. Feel concern or interest; attach importance to something. But shoes ship to retailers in bulk packaging rather than individual boxes ( (Laseter, Rabinovich, Huang, 2006)). So when companies like eBags use drop ship order process, there is an additional shipping cost to the manufacturer to repackage shoes and ship shoes to the customer. Shoes have a short product life cycle and also suffer a high return rate. Some customers order more than one pair with an idea to return the pair that does not fit. Thus shoes carry a much higher cost to serve and selling them online requires a different business model. A comparison of a potential acquisition candidate for eBags in footwear, Shodeni, shows that the SKU count is very high for shoes compared to luggage or bags and eBags should be extremely efficient if it has to handle that high SKU. eBags should add call centers to handle calls from customers in addition to support through the website. They should continue with the strategy of having manufacturers send the shipment directly to the customer. As a child, it was always around me: Beethoven sonatas and Chopin concerti would fill my house, so much so that I begged my parents to start me on piano. I began the piano at five, but as I grew older, I discovered the beauty of chamber music and the allure of playing in an orchestra, compelling me to start on the clarinet. Since then, I have developed a love for performance. Onstage, I feel perfectly at home with the excitement and passion. I strive to make each performance unique in its own right, with my musical ideas summoned by the magical allure of the stage. In Richard Adams Watership Down, the rabbits in the story all live in groups on separate areas of land. These areas are called warrens, and there are three main warrens that will be discussed in this essay. Each of the three warrens have a different type of governments being run inside of them. The Sandleford Warren, the Efrafa Warren and the Watership Down Warren are all ran differently. Each warren has modern world equivalences relating to their governments. In the following paragraphs you will be able to see which modern world government matches up, and is present in each of the three warrens in Watership Down. The first warren is the Sandleford Warren, this warren is a communistic government. It is a communist government because all rabbits live under the order of the chief rabbit Threarah.. All the rabbits know to respect the chief rabbit especially if you are in a lower class like the rabbit Hazel. I m awfully sorry, Chief Rabbit Hazel pg12. There are three social classes in the Sandleford Warren, the Chief Rabbit, the Owsla and the Outskirters. Outskirters that is, the rank and file of ordinary rabbits in their first year pg4. All these social classes are controlled by the Chief Rabbit. Mao Zedong started a communist government in China in 1927 and just as Chief Rabbit controlled the social classes of his warren, Mao Zedong controlled the social classes of the country of China. In a real life communist government the leader of the government will control the country s money. In the warrens the rabbit do not have money but the one controllable factor is food. Cold weather contracts blood vessels. Hence, heart attacks, migraines, and high blood pressure, caused by constriction of blood vessels and insufficient blood flow, can be triggered by cold weather. According to research conducted by the New England Center for Headache, as many as half of all migraines are triggered by weather conditions. This applies for Raynaud s phenomenon where the blood vessels dilate and blood flow is disrupted. Cold weather increases joint stiffness and affects people with arthritis. Arthritis patients believe that the lower the barometric pressure, the greater the pain in the joints. An example is that the residents at the North Shore Hotel note when the barometric pressure goes down, their pain goes up. Their arthritis goes into overdrive before a storm. Nerve fiber coverings break down more easily, causing Multiple sclerosis to happen more frequently in cold weather. For Fibromyalgia Syndrome, a 1981 survey reported that more than 90% of the patients felt worse in cold and humid weather. Changes in barometric pressure affected those with the syndrome. Sinus headaches are caused by barometric pressure as the nasal cavities are not able to adapt quickly to the change in air pressure. By 1200, the indigenous Christian inhabitants of al Andalus had, for the most part, been forcibly converted or rooted out. The only Christians left in the area were prisoners of war, mercenaries, and merchants. To emphasize the severity of the treatment of the dhimmis by the Almohad rulers, in 1224, an Almohad chronicler, al Marrakushi, made the claim that, No pact of protection has been signed between us and the Jews or the Christians since the rise of Almohad power.
