autobiography entitled The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano , Equiano recounts
his fear throughout his journey of an enslaved man. This story describes the repulsive side of slavery
through the Middle Passage. Towards the beginning of the story, the author discusses the experience
of arriving on the ship that would take him to the Americas: I was immediately handled, and tossed up
to see if I were sound, by some of the crew (Equiano 521). This gives insight into the cruel treatment

grow towards their personal goals which build on their abilities for managing with their life. The
experience I acquired over the years of my adulthood is described as informal method of helping

extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women struggled
for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton Calkins, who

It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do just that could be
to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature, describe how it makes you feel, and see
what that says about you as a person. As such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List ,
one of my favorite movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindler who uses World War 2 as an
opportunity to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman who
knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to start his manufactory
near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout
the film, starting as selfish and ending up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his
responsibility and uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is
initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and allows this to continue
and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the end of the movie, he ends up saving over
eleven hundred jews, and his only regret that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved
more. This film demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is inherent
in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I believe people are responsible for
their own actions. I came to believe this for several reasons. When I was growing up, it was common
for my parents to say things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in
were both similar in that regard. The idea was that your actions produce a net result that affects you
and potentially others. My father usually said this to me in regards to being a decent person or playing
football. He drove me to be a better athlete but said I was responsible to work hard. He told me that I

Integration is the stage(s) where the quantitative and qualitative methods are mixed or integrated in the
research process (Greene, Caracelli, Graham, 1989; Tashakkori Teddlie, 1998; Creswell et al., 2003).
Mixing can occur at the beginning stage of the study when the researcher is formulating the
quantitative and qualitative research (Teddlie Tashakkori, 2003), and integration can be done at the
interpretation stage of the quantitative and qualitative results (Onwuegbuzie Teddlie, 2003). The
quantitative and qualitative phases are connected (Hanson et al., 2005) after data analysis in the first
phase to guide the data collection in the second phase. For the sequential explanatory study, I will
connect the quantitative and qualitative phase during the intermediate stage in the research process.
That is, I will select participants for the qualitative phone interview from those who responded to the
survey in the first phase (Creswell et al., 2003).

Aristotle specifically separates causes into four different categories, material cause, formal cause,

discipline in my diet and exercise routines. That being said, I did exercise periodically prior to this

fact that this assignment allowed me to directly apply what we learned in class in my life is appealing

determination theory, social support, and the stimulus response theory stood out, probably due to
incorporating them in my behavior change.
The self determination theory has been made prevalent in my life as I have seen it hold true in my
personal goals, and I have used it to help motivate others to accomplish plans of interest. It is hard for
me to have a great influence on my family, due to being six hours away for college, but recently my
mother and I have been discussing exercise possibilities over the phone. She knows that she should
exercise, but has found it difficult to begin the change from being sedentary to physically active. The
