A leader is a person who inspires. He brings the best out of his people and they, in turn, follow him in
the realization of his goals. In other words, a true leader communicates his aspirations and creates a
shared passion for a common objective.
In order to be effective, a leader must first believe in his vision so as to be able to convey his thoughts
to others and consequently convince them of the importance of his idea. As a result, such a leader can
guide people with a firm hand and at the same time create resonance. Finally, empathy is probably ...

BIOGRAPHY
Born on September 18, 1971 in Plano Texas, Lance Armstrong began his athletic career by taking part
at the age of 13 in athletic activities such as triathlon. When he turned 16, Lance focused on cycling,
what would later become his passion and point of recognition to the world. Four years later Lance
won the National Amateur Cycling Championship and in 1993 he won the Pro Cycling Tour s Triple
Crown, a major cycling event in the States. At the Olympic Games of 1996, he suffered from fatigue
and bronchitis disappointing his fans by finishing in the twelfth place. The weariness he felt and the
illnesses he suffered were justified later that year when he was diagnosed with cancer. When the
diagnosis was made, Lance was already at the third and final stage of testicular cancer, where cancer
had already spread in his lungs and brain. Five months after the diagnosis Lance began training again
and in 1998 he returned to racing, sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. During his two year absence,
Lance created the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It was trough the foundation that Lance met his
future wife, Kristin Richard with which he has tree children. In 1999, just three years after his
treatment for cancer, Lance won the Tour de France, leading the entire race and proving to the world
his renewed capabilities. In 2001, Armstrong was given a clean bill of health which meant that during

National Football League Players Association Case Summary
Since 1920, the year the National Football League was founded, multiple issues have come up
regarding bargaining and anti trust law. The National Football League Players Association, also
known as the NFLPA, the labor organization representing the individual players, was founded in 1956.
Its main goal was, and still is, to get the best bargaining agreement for the players, making sure all the
needs and interests have been met. However, the job of those working at the National Football League
Players Association does not end once leaving the collective bargaining table. Since founding, over 60
years ago, the organization has filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of the players and facilitated strikes to
give the players leverage in exercising bargaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The National Football League has a Commissioner, who is supposed to be the voice for the owners, in
addition to all the lawyers at the bargaining table. Currently, Roger Goodell holds the position, yet his
term, while short, already has controversy around it. Some examples include Ray Rice and Ezekiel
Elliot and their domestic violence scandals, as well as the New England Patriots and the Deflategate
incident. On the opposite end of the spectrum lies the executive director for the National Football
League Players Association, DeMaurice Smith. For a long time, however, Gene Upshaw held the
position until his passing away in 2008. The relationship between these two leaders affects the
bargaining table and how willing each side is to negotiate. Paul Tagliabue and Gene Upshaw worked
together in a different way, fostering a relationship that proved beneficial at the bargaining

Difference Between Cisc And Cisc
The never ending comparative study between CISC and RISC

Polytechnic University of Bucharest emilia_ioana.popa@stud.acs.upb.ro Abstract. The comparative
study between CISC (Complex Instruction Set Com puter) and RISC (Reduced Instruction Set
Computers) has been a well known debate subject for many years. In the past, one significant
development in com puter processor technology was the RISC microprocessor. Many argued that
RISC devices have offered significant advantages over their conventional CISC counterparts. A brief
comparison of the main features of both RISC and CISC processors, as well as a more recent
architecture trend, EPIC, are presented.
Keywords: CISC, RISC, performance, MIPS, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These architectures have limited instruction sets built into the processor. As a result, fewer transistors
have to be used in processor construction. Due to this evolution, more space is saved on the
microprocessor. This results in a lower overall cost for the unit. To do the same work as the CISC
processor can do, a lot more RAM or memory is required. However, RISC processors were initially
favored for scientific purposes because these applications required a less large instruction set than
general purpose computers. As time passed, there have been produced an increasing number of gen
eral purpose computers using RISC microprocessors. These processors only use sim ple instructions
that can be executed within one clock cycle.
Going back to our example above, the MULT command could be divided into three separate
commands: LOAD (data is moved to a register from the memory bank), PROD (the product of two
operands located within the registers is found), and STORE (data is moved from a register to the
memory banks). Four lines of assembly would be needed in order to perform the same steps described

I chose the movie clip entitled King Kong . It s from the movie Training Day starring Denzel
Washington. Training Day is a movie that follows a corrupted detective s day to day mischief as he
schools a rookie cop. Training Day depicts a product of the matchup between screenwriter David Ayer,
who grew up in South Central Los Angeles, and director Antoine Fuqua, who grew up on the rough
side of Pittsburgh. Both Ayer and Fuqua are highly familiar with the highly intensified relationship
between police and criminals.
From the moment you set eyes on him you can relies that Alonzo is a strong willed individual who
demands respect from everyone he meets. Denzel s performance is absolutely captivating. He does an

All the interiors done on stage were taken from the locations and researched in the neighborhoods
with the help of the residents which also gave the film the authenticity of being in the hood . She
became sort of an urban anthropologist, because everything the viewer sees is as it really is. The
colors and textures used, change throughout the scene, but everything they used was taken directly
from the neighborhood that you find yourself in throughout the clip.
Cinematographers and art directors play a very important and creative role in film production. They
work closely with the director and give a film its unique visual look and identity. The art director was
David Lazan and cinematographer Mauro Fiore. The entiriety of the movie is comprised in a single
day which can be challenging for cinematographers and art directors. The film seemed to be filled
with brief stints of consolidated action and emotion. This gave the plot of the film the feel as though it
was unfolding in only a single day.
Light can make a scene look more realistic by creating shadows and highlights. In this scene Alonzo if
enraged with anger as he looks for help from the gangsters and thugs he once worked with and
protected but those very same individual s no longer have the same respect for Alonzo. The King
Kong scene is shot using a low key lighting design. Low key lighting is often used for intense
dramatic scenes which was a perfect fit for this scene. The dark lighting used in these scene

resistance to normal saline technique when cervical dilation was 1 cm. Intrathecal analgesia was
initiated with bupivacaine 2.5 mg and fentanyl 15 µg and PCEA was maintained as described for Case
1. The patient developed moderate interscapular pain and lower neck pain 6 hours later. At the time of
her complaint of interscapular pain, she had received 120 mL epidural infusion solution without any
physician administered doses. She described the pain as a constant, dull, non radiating crick in the
neck between her shoulder blades, extending into her lower neck. The patient did not recognize any
aggravating or alleviating factors. She noted that she had developed the exact same pain during
epidural analgesia during her previous delivery. The basal infusion rate was decreased to 6 mL/h and
the concentration of bupivacaine in her local anesthetic/opioid infusion was increased from 0.0625%
to 0.11%. Her pain completely resolved one hour after this intervention. Approximately 15 hours after
CSE analgesia initiation, the patient developed breakthrough labor pain, which was relieved with 10

Kubler Ross 5 Stages Of Grief Essay
The prominent and well known five stages of grief created by Elisabeth Kubler Ross have been
adopted by professionals to support patients across all settings with the difficult process of death and
dying. In Elisabeth Kubler Ross s classic study of the dying process the process of dying has a
universality to it which connects all human beings despite each experience being individualistic. Many
individuals experience and adopt these stages after being faced with the reality of their impending
death or the death of a loved one. Medical professionals can support patients with this process by
providing meaningful and multidimensional care that can include pain management, patient advocacy,
and _____ .
Kubler Ross identified five linear stages of grief. Most all patients are faced with the initial stage in
the process which is denial and isolation. This stage usually is in a shock response to poor and life
changing news. This first stage of grieving helps us to survive the loss (Kubler Ross, Pg. 10) A patient

Preferences can evolve as the disease progresses, as research shows that patients may want a sense of
control over their disease, control over suffering, and control over death itself. (Knops, Srinivasan,
Meyers (2005). Patients and their families at the end of life are found to be relationship based and
process oriented rather than focusing on medical goals (steinhauser et, al., 2000). When looking at
patient and family preferences nurses work to meet the spiritual, psychological, and social needs of
patients and patient s families during their most difficult triumphs and tributes. Hospice care nurses
are called upon to provide compassionate emotional support through patient and family end of life
decisions, all while remaining culturally competent and

Advantages Of Superior Singing Method
Think you can t sing? Believe it or not, this is one of the most common misconceptions we have about
ourselves. While it s correct that some people have been blessed with the golden voice, the simple
truth is that anyone can learn to sing better than they do now. When it comes down to it, using your
voice is just like using any other instrument. For example, have you ever tried playing a violin without
any violin lessons beforehand? The resulting screeching sound would probably have you think you re
not cut out for playing the violin, but the truth is that you just don t have the necessary skills yet.
Singing is just like that you need to put in the hours in order to get better.
That said, learning to sing properly is not something that can be picked up easily. If you re not taking
the correct singing lessons, you ll probably just end up straining your vocal chords with little to no
benefits to show for it. That s why I wanted to talk you through an interesting singing method that
should help you improve your singing ability in a reasonable period of time. It s called the Superior
Singing Method, and it s tremendously effective at what it sets out to do.
How Does It Work?
Simply put, the Superior Singing Method is a video based course ... Show more content on

For one, traditional singing lessons can be a big strain on the budget these days. Vocal instructors
worth their salt do not come cheap, and their private lessons are likely to end up with you spending an
exorbitant amount of money for negligible gains. In comparison, the Superior Singing Method will set
you back a mere $97, and it comes with more than 50 step by step videos, 31 vocal exercises and eight
modules packed with content. If you re not satisfied with how your vocal range is developing or you
ve changed your mind about singing lessons, you can always use the 60 day money back guarantee.

Technology Changes In Law Enforcement Essay
Technology has been changing for years. It has been improving and it has been improving very fast.
Technology place a big role in law enforcement. Before all the improvements in technology it was
usually the officer s words against the subjects. That has change dramatically. Law enforcement

This helps with the safety of the officers and also the people they are dealing with. Technology has

There have been many incidents where subjects have stolen a police cruiser or been able to retrieve a
weapon from a police cruiser. They have upgraded the security in most police cruisers by adding a
switch or a special way to put the police cruiser in gear that only the officers should know about, so
when someone tries to drive off they will be confused about why the vehicle won t go in gear and that
will stop a lot of trouble from happing. Now with the safety of having weapons in the cruiser they
have added more secure gun locks and special switches or buttons to quickly un lock the weapon. This
simple upgrade in gun safety technology can make a big difference in certain situations. One
technology improvement that isn t in the vehicle but on the outside of the cruisers is the lights. The
light bars that are on top of a cruiser have been made smaller and brighter. There have also been little
led lights added around the vehicle to be more noticeable. The newer light bars on the top of the
cruiser can also be used as take down lights which are used to light up alleys or places that you d light
to be more visible instead of just using a sot light. With that being said the spot lights are still being
used but instead of it just being one old bulb they have been replaced with multiple led lights which
have improved the brightness by a lot. With the technology changes the equipment that an officer
carries while on duty has changed. Most officers don t

Rida K Liamsi Poetry Analysis
Viva Maritime within Rida K Liamsi s Poetry
The notion of maritime is one of themes frequently brought up by a poet. Energetic enthusiasm in
facing life in maritime society has inspired poets to write a conception about maritime. This research
aims at analyzing maritime concept included within four poetry by Rida K Liamsi, namely Laut,
Tempuling, Pancang Nibung I, and Kemejan. Descriptive method is used in order to explain maritime
concept contained in those four poetry. The research result shows that those four poetry raise about the
rigorous of life obstacles inside maritime territory. These poetry are yielded on the basis of Malay
eagerness to live in a maritime zone. These Malays are depicted to struggle with never give up spirit in
confronting life cycle. Though in every fight results win and failure, the Malay people never surrender
to fate. Destiny does not impair their exertion in handling life. What even more interesting is that
Malay people recognize the importance of sense or essence of life, for struggle is the truly heart of
life.

Pope John Paul II s Influence on the Fall of Communism Essay
THESIS STATEMENT
Both the words and actions of Pope John Paul II were crucial to the downfall of communism in
Germany as well as his native Poland.
PURPOSE STATEMENT This paper will discuss Pope John Paul II s role in the fall of communism in
Germany and his native Poland through in depth research and an analysis of biographical research.
INTRODUCTION Even as a child, people knew that Karol Wojtyla was destined for greatness. Even
his mother bragged to all her neighbors that her newborn son would grow into a great man. And that
he did. He served as pope from 1978 until his death in 2005, a period of over twenty six years. He was

Karol s battle against communism began during World War II, when he was forced to hide his faith
from the cruel government. He did this in several ways, including wearing his priestly garb without
the collar and being called Uncle instead of Father in public. Karol was the kind of man who wasn t
afraid to put himself in danger in order to speak the truth. It is evident that he tried to stand up for the
dignity of man, even against the seemingly overwhelming power of Communism (Accattoli et al 30),
which he did at his local university, preaching the message of Christianity to the students and warning
them of the evils of the communism and the atheism that went along with such a government. But this
action was only one of many early strides that Karol Wojtyla took against communism.
A POPE FOR THE PEOPLE
Pope John Paul II was a very bright and articulate child, burdened by the loss of many classmates to
concentration camps. Drawing from his childhood experiences later in life, the pope used his talent in
linguistics to write several religious plays, including his first, David. These dramas portrayed
Christian views and beliefs in a simple and interesting manner. By acting out these plays, Christianity
and questioning of the communist regime began to spread throughout Poland. Unfortunately, the
government retaliated by shutting down the theological studies at the university. But Pope John Paul II

Managing The Development Of Large Software Systems
Managing the development of large software systems
Introduction
This book is published by Dr. Winston W.Royce, he will be describing his own personal views about
managing large software development. He has had many different varieties of success in each of his
assignments such as arriving the project on time, within the costs and in the correct operational state.
When making a computer program there are two essential steps that are required to make a successful
program, these two main steps are the Analysis this is where you will have to analyse the requirements
of the software, the second step is the Coding. This figure is all that is required if it is going to be for
internal use as everyone will be familiar with it. If you are going to ... Show more content on

This means that a simple patch to the code will not fix these problems. The changes are likely to be
extremely disruptive that the system requirements that the program was built on will be violated. This
will mean the requirements will have to be modified and a major redesign will have to happen.
The preliminary program design phase is inserted in between the software requirements phase and the
analysis phase. By using this technique the designer will assure that the software will not fail because
of timing, storage and data flux reasons. There are 3 steps that you will have to do to implement this
procedure. 1, Begin the design process with program designers. 2, Design define and allocate the data
processing modes. 3, Write an overview document this means that everyone must at least have a slight
understanding of the system and there should be one person with deep understanding of the system.
The seventh figure shows that if the program is being developed for the first time, arrange matters so
that when the final build of the program is delivered to the customer it is actually the second version
as the first one is a simulation of it.
Royce view on documentation is that the more documentation the better. He says that when he is
called upon to review a documentation the first step that he does is investigate the state of the
documentation, if the documentation is in serious default he recommends that the project management
is replaced. He says that

Local resources Tourism in India can create great pressure on local resources like energy, food, and
other raw materials that may already be in short supply. Greater extraction and transport of these
resources exacerbates the physical impacts associated with their exploitation. Because of the seasonal
character of the industry, many destinations have ten times more inhabitants in the high season as in
the low season. A high demand is placed upon these resources to meet the high expectations tourists
often have (proper heating, hot water, etc.). Land degradation Important land resources include fertile
soil, forests, wetlands and wildlife. Increased construction of tourism facilities has increased the
pressure on these resources and on scenic landscapes. Direct impact on natural resources in the
provision of tourist facilities can be caused by the use of land for accommodation and other
infrastructure provision, and the use of building materials. Forests often suffer negative impacts of
tourism in the form of deforestation caused by fuel wood collection and land clearing. For example,
one trekking tourist in Nepal can use four to five kilograms of wood a day. PHYSICAL IMPACT OF

As I hopped out nothing happened and I pinched myself to make sure it was real. All clear I said to
myself as I looked in the trunk and nothing was there. Looks like everythings inside I thought to
myself. I dashed to the house and Plop I made when I faced planted onto the concrete. I didn t care

The Hutus In Rwanda Genocide
Tutsis were tall and well educated. Not only did they have better social status, but there also appeared
to be more entitled, whereas, the Hutus were those who worked for Tutsis. During the pre World War
I, Rwanda was colonized by Germany, but later when Germany had lost the war, Rwanda came under
Belgium s administration. Under the ruling of Belgium, Tutsis were more favored to be educated,
which had made Hutus felt under appreciated, as if they were really treated like servants. (Rwanda
Genocide) However, the population of Hutus has always outnumbered the Tutsis, where it accounts 80
percent of the Hutus, 19 percent of Tutsis, and only 1 percent of Twa and Pygmy, the original
inhabitants of Rwanda. (Rwanda genocide: 100 days of slaughter, 2014) Towards the end of Belgium s
ruling, the Hutus were given more authority from the Belgians. Since the majority is the Hutus, the
group had seeked influence to subdue the minorities, specifically the Tutsis. Even before
independence in 1959, the Hutus had ultimately sparked revolution, causing around 300,000 of Tutsis
to escape to the neighboring country, Uganda, where they settled down for nearly 30 years. In 1961,
the Hutus had victoriously overthrown Tutsi s power, advocated the country a republic, and within that
same year, Rwanda gained its independence. After the Tutsis had fled the country, in 1973, Major

Inventions Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was an innovative period between the 1760s through the 1850s, making
people go from a predominantly agricultural existence into a more urban lifestyle. Starting after year
1750, all the factors that, made Great Britain the best place for industrialization. The primary
assessment that made it possible was the invention of machines that could do work that was
previously done by hand. This allowed production to shift from inside homes into factories. During
the industrial revolution, new inventions were plentiful and helped to revolutionize the way in which
people lived. The Steam engine, mass production/division of labor, mechanization, abundance of iron,

Mass Production and Division of labor is a manufacturing system based upon principles such as
interchangeable parts, large scale productions, and the high volume assembly line. In the early 1800s,
a man named Josiah Wedgwood started his own pottery business using mass production, they made
pottery for Europeans who liked to always keep their tea from porcelain because without the pottery
cups the flavor would spoil. He hired many labors to press down the clay, glaze pieces, carry things,
while others put handles on cups. Mass Production adapted to make workers more productive using
less required skills, while being paid less being able to lower costs of products while boosting quality.
Mass Production and Division became the most important structure for manufacturing across the
globe, utilizing extreme impact on popular culture.
Mechanization was a huge process, that changed work that was done before only by hands or animal s
to doing work with new machinery. The cotton thread and weaving for cloth in the 1800s was a main
product for these new machines, the cloth was much nicer, softer, and cleaner than any hand made
clothing as said in the book wealthy Europeans developed a liking for the costly import. This quote
shows that wealthy Europeans were itching for the newly designed products made by these machines.
The people working in this industrial adapted well towards mechanization by being able to create
more product faster, while being less stressed at work.

The Day Of A Local Coffee Shop
It was an average day in a local coffee shop. My life was average, nothing exciting. I lived in an
average apartment in an average town. I worked an average job and went home and did average
things. That is until I went to that average coffee shop on that average day. I was sitting at the table
doing my last minute assignment for work. I looked up and saw a gorgeous girl walk in the coffee
shop. She saw me too. I wasn t the kind of person to go up to someone I didn t know and start talking
to them. Thankfully she was though. She came up to me and smiled, she told me her name was Aubree

The Human Factor in Ship Design
1. Introduction: The Human Factor in Ship Design It is essential to take into account the human factor
when designing complicated and large scale equipment such as ships. The importance of this is
demonstrated when the human factor is investigated in terms of marine disasters and casualties.
According to Bin Yaakob and Nee (2003, p. 1), the human element accounts for as much as 80% of all
marine catastrophes and casualties. This is why entities such as the International Maritime
Organization (IMO) and the Bureau Veritas (2008) have made it their mission to investigate and
address the human factor in ship design. There are two components to investigating and addressing
human factors in ship design. First, the challenges seafarers currently face in terms of their work
environment and the influence of this on their job performance need to be evaluated. Second, these
can be used to determine the design elements necessary to create an optimal environment to encourage
optimal job performance for seafaring personnel. Calhoun (2006, p. 2), for example, mentions air
quality and ventilation, temperature, noise, and vibration as specific enviornmental aspects that have
affected the quality of environment and work performance of seafaring personnel. Other factors
include the amount and quality of sleep that is possible for such personnel, as well as the quality of
lighting in their environment. A major important consideration is that these factors generally integrate

Similarities Between The Weary Blues And Lepanto
Poem Analysis: The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K. Chesterton Poetry has
been used across different contexts, particularly in historical settings. At one point, compositions such
as poems were written in an effort to document certain dimensions that prevailed during specific times

element was developed. Following this fact, the respective discourse will concentrate on two
particular poems. These comprise The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K.

Essay on Paul Robeson
Paul Robeson was a famous African American athlete, singer, actor and advocate for the civil rights of
people around the world. He rose to prominence in a time when segregation was legal in America and
black people were being lynched by white mobs, especially in the South.
Born on April 9, 1898 in Princeton, New Jersey, Paul Robeson was the youngest of five children. His
father was a runaway slave who went on to graduate from Lincoln University, and his mother came
from a family of Quakers who worked for the abolition of slavery. His family was familiar with

Abstract
Poliomyelitis (polio) is an infectious disease caused by the polio virus and is spread from person to
person through faecal oral transmission which means; stool entering the mouth or consumption of
food containing stool from an infection person. The poliovirus resides in the intestinal tract and mucus
in the nose and throat. Contact with infected respiratory secretions or even saliva can cause poliovirus
transmission. This mode of transmission is known as oral oral transmission. Polio became prevalent in
the United States of America (U.S) in the 1940s and 1950s.this was followed by outbreaks of the
disease that crippled tens of thousands in North America. Polio eradication is aimed at reducing the
global incidence of polio to zero through deliberate efforts to a point that it requires no further control.
Polio eradication is to be achieved through interruption of endemic transmission of poliovirus through
vaccination. This saw the wide use of the inactivated polio virus (IPV) that was administered orally
(OPV); oral polio vaccine. Polio free U.S Polio eradication is defined as the reduction to zero of
global incidence of poliomyelitis through deliberate efforts to a point that it requires no further control
measures. High rates of vaccination are at the center of polio eradication in the U.S. Vaccinations help

The Qualities Of Brando s Acting
Both authors examined the qualities of Brando s acting that made his acting memorable. Neves
investigated Brando s acting style in the 1954 film On The Waterfront. Neves delved into how Brando
s method acting approach strengthened his role and focused on the psychological complexity Brando
gave to the character. Whereas Krasner wrote about Brando s role in the 1951 film A Streetcar Named
Desire and explored specific details in his acting technique, such as his usage of mumbling and his
rebellious wardrobe choices. Neves points proved to be the strongest, with his extremely in depth
analysis and use of psychology to explain Brando s character s actions. In the future, historians could
analyze how Brando s acting improved and became more memorable as he became older. Altogether,
there were many reasons for Brando s memorability, as shown by Neves arguments that the method
style enhanced his acting, and as shown in Krasner s arguments that precise details in his acting made
him memorable, and further information on his memorability could be gained by studying how his
acting became better over time.
Neves addressed the question of Brando s memorability by examining his acting in the 1954 movie
On The Waterfront. Neves uses hearings by Elia Kazan (director of On the Waterfront) by the House
Committee of Un American Activities as a primary source. This source was useful because it allowed
Neves to gain information on the film s background, in the director s own words.

other anti dandruff shampoo. Or maybe it was just because it was marketed well, having high quality

persuade consumers into buying the product. This part would be similar to the first commercial with
Rain, but more appealing to the Filipino market, basically because the endorsers in these commercials
are Filipino celebrities. Another important factor seen in every Clear advertisement is the use of the
color black. Their campaign has always emphasized that the color black meant freedom from
dandruff. If you think about it, the color black for Clear can symbolize shiny black hair, or confidence;
because wearing black is often avoided by those who suffer from dandruff. And this was creative; it
makes the advertisements unique and eye catching because they re the only advertisements wherein

Racism And The Gay Community
In a time when countless citizens of the United State were homophobic, how were Blackmun and

My answer to this question before I read a single word assigned, was easy they must have known
someone who was gay. I believe it is simple to be against something that you don t understand
anything about. It is pompous to say that homosexuals are immoral, perverted, disgusting sinners
when you have never knowingly interacted with a homosexual. However, becoming acquainted with
someone will likely change your mind; especially if it is someone you would consider a friend. Being
able to put a face and an emotion to discrimination often times make the discrimination appalling. The

BIOGRAPHY Born on September 18, 1971 in Plano Texas, Lance Armstrong began his athletic career by taking part at the age of 13 in athletic activities such as triathlon. When he turned 16, Lance focused on cycling, what would later become his passion and point of recognition to the world. Four years later Lance won the National Amateur Cycling Championship and in 1993 he won the Pro Cycling Tour s Triple Crown, a major cycling event in the States. At the Olympic Games of 1996, he suffered from fatigue and bronchitis disappointing his fans by finishing in the twelfth place. The weariness he felt and the illnesses he suffered were justified later that year when he was diagnosed with cancer. When the diagnosis was made, Lance was already at the third and final stage of testicular cancer, where cancer had already spread in his lungs and brain. Five months after the diagnosis Lance began training again and in 1998 he returned to racing, sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. During his two year absence, Lance created the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It was trough the foundation that Lance met his future wife, Kristin Richard with which he has tree children. The comparative study between CISC (Complex Instruction Set Com puter) and RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computers) has been a well known debate subject for many years. In the past, one significant development in com puter processor technology was the RISC microprocessor. Many argued that RISC devices have offered significant advantages over their conventional CISC counterparts. A brief comparison of the main features of both RISC and CISC processors, as well as a more recent architecture trend, EPIC, are presented. Keywords: CISC, RISC, performance, MIPS, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These architectures have limited instruction sets built into the processor. As a result, fewer transistors have to be used in processor construction. Due to this evolution, more space is saved on the microprocessor. This results in a lower overall cost for the unit. To do the same work as the CISC processor can do, a lot more RAM or memory is required. However, RISC processors were initially favored for scientific purposes because these applications required a less large instruction set than general purpose computers. As time passed, there have been produced an increasing number of gen eral purpose computers using RISC microprocessors. These processors only use sim ple instructions that can be executed within one clock cycle. Going back to our example above, the MULT command could be divided into three separate commands: LOAD (data is moved to a register from the memory bank), PROD (the product of two operands located within the registers is found), and STORE (data is moved from a register to the memory banks). • 25. The Human Factor in Ship Design 1. Introduction: The Human Factor in Ship Design It is essential to take into account the human factor when designing complicated and large scale equipment such as ships. The importance of this is demonstrated when the human factor is investigated in terms of marine disasters and casualties. According to Bin Yaakob and Nee (2003, p. 1), the human element accounts for as much as 80% of all marine catastrophes and casualties. This is why entities such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Bureau Veritas (2008) have made it their mission to investigate and address the human factor in ship design. There are two components to investigating and addressing human factors in ship design. First, the challenges seafarers currently face in terms of their work environment and the influence of this on their job performance need to be evaluated. Second, these can be used to determine the design elements necessary to create an optimal environment to encourage optimal job performance for seafaring personnel. Calhoun (2006, p. 2), for example, mentions air quality and ventilation, temperature, noise, and vibration as specific enviornmental aspects that have affected the quality of environment and work performance of seafaring personnel. Other factors include the amount and quality of sleep that is possible for such personnel, as well as the quality of lighting in their environment. A major important consideration is that these factors generally integrate and should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
