Psy 230 Week 1 Research Paper
Week One Week one, I learned about phytochemicals. They are a non nutrient substance, which means they have no nutrients in them.
They are not processed or anything because they are naturally occurring in plants. They cannot be found anywhere else.
Phytochemicals are not needed for short term survival, which means you don t necessary need them. They are good though because
they promote long term health. I applied this to my life by making sure I start having phytochemicals in my diet, so I can help out my
long term health. Week Two Week two, I learned about ingestion. I learned when to eat and when you need to stop eating. When you
have an appetite that means the psychological desire to eat food. When you are hungry that is the physical sensation of needing to eat
food, which is localized in the stomach. Then satiety is the state of having had enough to eat. There is immediate and delayed satiety.
There are of course factors that control these, which are the size of your stomach and illness. Also, different mood conditions and your
genes play a role. I applied this to my life by knowing when I am at the hunger stage to eat, but when I get to satiety, then I need to
stop eating. Week Three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carbohydrates are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Carbohydrates can come from fruits, vegetables, and grains. There are
two different kinds of carbohydrates. The first being simple carbohydrates, which are sugars. Glucose, fructose, and galactose fall
under the sugar category. Then you have your complex carbohydrates, which are starch in grains, glycogen stored in our muscles, and
fiber. When it comes to energy within our body glucose is a major source of energy. When our body does not get enough
carbohydrates to supply enough glucose, our body will make glucose from proteins. I applied this to my life by making sure I eat

Neolithic Era Vs Paleolithic Essay
The Paleolithic Era V.S. The Neolithic Era
I am writing this paper to explain the intricate differences between the arts and cultural backgrounds of the Paleolithic Era and the
Neolithic Era. This paper will help to better inform the reader on how the two time periods used art to express their purpose and
lifestyles. My main goal is to simply differentiate the art tools and methods used throughout these two Eras by adding specific details
and hopefully painting a visual picture in the reader s mind.
The Paleolithic Era or (Old Stone Age) started around 2.6 million years ago and ended 10,000 years ago. There were many human
species in the Paleolithic era but only one species survived up until the Neolithic Era (New Stone Age). Paleolithic Humans ... Show

The Neolithic people had knowledge of farming and herding animals. These people were mainly clothed in the skin of animals that
they raised. Unlike the people of the Paleolithic era, the Neolithic people were generally shorter and had lower life expectancies,
however, the Neolithic woman produced more children because the nomadic way of living was no longer practiced.
Art was very essential in both Eras. Art in the Paleolithic era was either portable or stationary. Their art focused on attempts to control
their environment by ritual mainly. The Paleolithic people used tools made of wood, animal bones and stone to create works of art on
the walls of their caves. They believed to have animistic religious beliefs so they often decorated their dwellings with pictures of deer
mammoths and bison. They also made sculptures (Venus) using similar concepts.
The Neolithic Era basically introduced more of the human figures. They created images of human figures more than they did animals.
In this Era, tools such as stone, vessel and woven baskets and clay were used. For sculptures they used stone and clay. The Neolithic
people focused more on pottery and architecture when portraying their artwork. Settled life started the development of pottery and
permanent architecture. Moreover, the Neolithic people were the first to apply pigment to a manmade

Analysis of Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop...
Analysis of Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death
In regard to Emily Dickinson s poem, Because I Could Not Stop for Death, Critic Eunice Glenn says: In the first two lines Death,
personified as a carriage driver, stops for one who could not stop for him. The word kindly is particularly meaningful, for it instantly
characterizes Death. This comes with surprise, too, since death is more often considered grim and terrible (Glenn). Critic Charles R.
Anderson says, Death, usually rude, sudden, and impersonal, has been transformed into a kindly and leisurely gentleman (Anderson).
Both critics seem to agree on the significance of the word kindly in the first two lines of the poem. Because I could ... Show more

Critic Patricia Engle, on the other hand, looks further and asks, What does the speaker or anyone stop doing for Death? Answering her
own question, Engle says: We stop living. In order to illustrate her point, she goes on to say, in reference to the speaker of the poem,
She realizes that she cannot recognize Death s power over her. Once she reckons with that eternal or divine bent within her, Death
stops; that is, Death ceases to be what Death is an end (Engle 74). Given deeper analysis of the poem as a whole, this interpretation
appears to be the most accurate. Death is not the final stopping point for our speaker. The carriage only paused at the grave (17). The
Horses Heads / Were toward Eternity (23 24). The poem suggests that death was not meant to be an end human existence will go on
for eternity. This accounts for the third, often overlooked, passenger in the carriage Immortality (4). Mortals don t stop for death death
stops for them. Death gives way to immortality, and thus, stops being an end. Even if she had wanted to, the speaker could not have
stopped for Death. The grave is merely a brief pause on the journey toward Eternity.
Dickinson had a definite purpose when she chose to personify death as a carriage driver. According to the Handbook of Literary

Physical Discipline And Child Behavior Problems Essay
Topic/ Rationale/ Hypothesis
The topic in the article Physical Discipline and Child Behavior Problems: A study of Ethnic Group Differences by Jodi Polaha, Robert
E. Larzelere, Steven K. Sharpio and Gregory S. Petit is researching the relation between parental discipline and how it relates to the
child s behavior expression problems within different ethnic groups. They re addressing how physical discipline in different ethnic
groups can affect children s way of expressing themselves in distinct ways. Previous research shows when a parent s discipline is
abusive then it often results in aggressive behavior from the child (Cicchetti, Lynch, Shonk, Manly, 1992; Dodge, Bates Pettit, 1990;
Strassberg, Dodge, Pettit, 1994). Although, if the discipline is not abusive then the child is less likely to be aggressive (Gershoff,
2002; Strassberg, Dodge, Bates, Pettit, 1992). In another study it was found that different ethnic groups react differently to discipline
between African American children and European American children (Baumrind,1972; Lamborn, Dornbusch, Steinberg,1996). Five
years after the study was conducted it had been reported that European American children got into more fights than the African
American children (Gunnoe Mariner, 1997). Even though the study s have factual results, there have been researchers who disagree
with their findings because of the bias circumstances such as having distinct ethnicities and parenting methods (Deater Deckard,

Hundreds of students studying nursing, midwifery and other medical based degrees in Sheffield have shown outrage towards the
proposal to remove bursaries and replace them with loans over the coming academic years.
Plans to remove NHS bursaries granted to student s in the medicinal field were announced under George Osbourne s Comprehensive

Government as part of the Chancellors proposal to introduce more spending cuts.

They re going to get less people applying to health care jobs when they ve got a shortage of them and need as many nurses, midwives

Her statement is backed by the Royal College of Nursing who believe that getting rid of bursaries would mean talented would be

Student midwife Ms O loghlen also said:
They won t get people applying who have a real passion for the nursing and midwifery fields. But those who have money and can
afford to live without a bursary.
At the present moment, over half of those applying to study nursing are turned away, therefore showing there are no shortages in those
eager to work in the profession. But the bursary cuts could see the number of those applying fall by August 2017 in which the plans

and turns to drugs and later she committed suicide by hanging herself on a tree. There are two more children, Polly and Huata,
however, we do not learn much about them.We learn about Beth who is the mother of the five children and she disapproves of how

Personal Statement In Water Engineering
The best revenge is massive success. Frank Sinatra
It may seem wired, but the sense of revenge threw me into the field of water engineering. I spent most of my childhood outdoors on
my father s farm close to a small city in the west of the province. As a hobby, my father gave me a small part of his farm, where I
grew up different crops with his help. During that time, I enjoyed nothing more than to see the farms green. But those days did not last
long and water scarcity impacted the farm s yield, resulted in water conflicts between farmers. The whole income of the family
depleted and left no choice other than selling the farm and migrating to the capital of the province for other means of income. During
high school when my classmates were thinking about the major primary branches of engineering such as chemistry, mechanic and
electric for their post secondary education, I was thinking about a different major. I missed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Play counselling helped a disruptive student cope more effectively with his angry reactions to his parents divorce so that his outbursts,

Play counselling has been extremely effective in the aftermath of several high profile and tragic school violence incidents. It has been

2. What traditional methods of therapy would you use to this resolve the problem/goal? For instance: Firstly, it would be important for
the parents to determine if the neighbor s dog is healthy, is tied to a leash and not allowed to roam around freely. Secondly, we might
use systematic desensitization to help her overcome her phobia or fear. Any other

Voltaire s Use Of Satire In Candide
Mr. Boni chose this book for our class in order to provide us with a first hand example of the views of the Enlightenment period
philosopher, Voltaire. Throughout Candide, Voltaire s well known satire, we are exposed to his sharp witted criticisms of the church,
nobility, religion, and philosophy. Using misfortune as well as comic relief, Candide, holds the interest of its readers while educating
them in Enlightened views. For the use of our current studies, this novel is a brilliant bridge between the witty words of one man s
views of the world and the history in which it is surrounded. It represents the author s unabridged view on mankind s lack of necessary

Voltaire satirizes numerous social norms of his time using recurring themes throughout the novel. With his every present sardonic
writing, Voltaire addresses issues regarding religion, social structure, women s rights, and unrelenting optimism. He ridicules religion
for its corruption and intolerance. No religion went unscathed as Voltaire took shots at many of the main sects of religion including
Protestantism, Catholicism, and Anabaptism. He also took shots at elitist nobility and the unfair women s rights of the time, using
irony to show the uselessness of the unjust systems and privileges (or lack thereof). In addition, Voltaire made light work of
philosophical optimism, an idea highly popularized by German theorist Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibnitz. It was thought that God
created a perfect world and therefore, God would not cause anything to happen if not for a greater outcome. Voltaire, an atheist in his

Alicia Moore, or Pink as she is better known, has become a music sensation around the United States. My reason for choosing her as a

Her frequent visiting of the clubbing scene was actually how she got noticed. She landed a Friday night singing spot at Club Fever. A

determined, and was able to find another group to join. That second group was picked up by LaFace Records, and eventually the label
signed Pink as a solo artist and her first album Can t Take Me Home was produced.
Two million albums and three top 40 singles later, Pink was asked to do the remake of LaBelle s 1975 #1 hit, Lady Marmalade, for the

The First Sfx Entertainment Was Formed By Robert F. X
History The first SFX Entertainment was formed by Robert F. X. Sillerman in the 1990s. Its business model surrounded the
acquisition and consolidation of regional concert promoters into a single national entity. In 2000, Sillerman sold the company to the
radio broadcasting company Clear Channel Communications for $4.4 billion USD, which spun off in 2005 to form Live Nation, and
merged with Ticketmaster in 2009 to form Live Nation Entertainment. In June 2012, Sillerman publicized his intent to focus on the
growing electronic dance music market by reviving the SFX brand to form a new conglomerate in the electronic music industry.
Similarly to the past incarnation of SFX, the company s business model focuses on the consolidation and acquisition of independent
EDM promoters, along with an additional focus on providing digital platforms for fans to connect. Sillerman expected to spend close
to $1 billion on acquisitions within the first year of operations alone. In June 2013, SFX announced an IPO and began trading on the
NASDAQ. Following its IPO, SFX also acquired companies more digital properties and promoters, but the stock price kept going
down due to the lack of income. On February, 2015, Sillerman announced a proposal to buy out SFX s public stock at $4.75 per share

Monsters in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight are divided into two sections (and possibly more when referencing quests,

Analysis Of The Poem How Of Tame A Wild Tongue
The essay, How to tame a wild tongue written by Gloria Anzaldua is a staggering piece on important social issues such as racism,
cultural differences, individuation, and domination. Anzaldua believes that her language is yet the most central and important
component for her ethnic identity as a person. If her language is threatened, then her individuality is threatened. She basically
responds to the violence she experienced as her character was restricted in this dominating society that she was trying to adapt in.
Anzaldua used quotes from various scholars who feel the same way about the society as she did about language, identity, racism, and
cultural imperialism. Additionally, her writing was based on personal experience which enriches the essay with credibility since the
reader is able to get the experience first handed by the victim of these crimes. Furthermore, as an immigrant myself, I was attracted to
this essay because I could relate to many of the topics she covered. I also saw this as a way to compare my experience with hers so I
could see how much this society has improved overall. I was gulped in the essay by the use of metaphor in the beginning of the essay
which created this interesting curious vibe that grasped my attention. A dentist visit was used metaphorically to describe the struggle
between her identity and the society. The doctor symbolized the society, and her tongue represented her identity as it was trying to
survive in the restricting society

Understanding Religious Identity and the Causes of Religious Violence Saira Yamin
Abstract The paper examines various scholarly works that explore the causes of religious violence. It addresses questions such as:
what elements of religion contribute to violence and protracted conflict; how does religious identity motivate groups engaged in
aggressive behavior; other than threat to and preservation of religious identity, what might be significant underlying causes of the
conflict; and, what parallels could be drawn with ethnic conflict in the construction of religious ... Show more content on

Mandela In South Africa
President Mandela played a big role in stopping South Africans segregation problem. South Africa several years ago favored white
people over the native South Africans. Mandela used rugby and the native children to help unite the country into one. He used the
Springboks (the rugby team representing South Africa) to coach younger kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team, even
said, I m glad I don t live here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They targeted younger children because their
success with this population appealed to the public. This was very smart of Mandela because this plan ended up working and all the
South Africans who jeered the Springboks initially, then cheered them on at the World Cup. The coaches visited the youth living in the
slums teaching them rugby. South Africa ended up being the underdogs yet beating two very talented team and ended up winning.
Mandela knew he had to keep all his Africaner employees to help stop the massive racism issue. All the government workers thought
they were being fired but he gave them the choice to stay or to leave. Many white people hated Mandela, in fact, when he was
released from prison someone said, It s that terrorist Mandela to one of his rugby players. I envy Mandela s way of maintaining
control. He could ve had all the Africaners suffer for what they did to the native Africans. I don t get how someone who suffered so
much is able to forgive so quickly, yet some

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Summary Chapter 12
During the fourth chapter of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the journey towards the Green Chapel commences. Sir Gawain is
escorted by a member of the Red Manor, who gives the knight a heed of warning. The escort offers advice to not travel to the Green
Chapel, and if he chose this path, the escort would not tell of his fleeing. Sir Gawain thanks the escort for his warning but tells him
that he has to keep his word, otherwise he would become a coward. The chapel was almost missed, if it not for Sir Gawain noticing a
rounded hillock on the bank of a stream, near the bed of a torrent that tumbled there (Sir Gawain 2172 73). Sir Gawain entered the
mound, which was the entrance to the chapel. Here, he met up with the Green Knight. This is where he reached the end of his quest
and was destined to receive his blow to the neck. Sir Gawain moved away from the first attempt, which caused the Knight to suspect
that he was not the true knight of the quest. After a dialogue was exchanged between the two, the Green Knight struck a blow to Sir
Gawain, which only nicked his neck. The Green Knight told him that his wife was Morgan, whom Gawain spent time with in the
Manor, and she was sent to test Gawain. The Green Knight called Sir Gawain one of the most perfect men who ever walked on the
earth (Sir Gawain 2363). Sir Gawain replied in anger, saying that he was not a virtuous knight, therefore he doesn t deserve such a
remark. Sir Gawain was sent back to Arthur s

Brain Injuries During World War II
After the long and physically demanding battles of World War Two, many soldiers returned to the United States of America battling
injuries many physicians did not know how to acknowledge at the time. But, as many soldiers were able to return to their families,
even with a brain injury, many soldiers lost their lives to brain injuries. Two researchers who conducted one of the largest studies on
base camps about the extent of brain injuries and how it affected soldiers was Sekulovic and Ceramilac, these researchers were able to
summaries autopsies of 499 deaths occurring within 30 days of traumatic brain injury. 1 Sekulovic and Ceramilac were able to find
that 78% of the deaths were due to injury to brain stem, brain edema or brain compression. 1 While Sekulovic and Ceramilac were
able to determine the percentage of which were affected by brain injuries during World War Two, many researchers were hoping to
acknowledge the dynamic longer term possibilities. According to Dr. Ian J. Baguley, patients who had been released from the hospital
into rehabilitation facilities 1 were considered long term for brain injuries. Where as Dr. Robert M. Shavelle found that patients
coming from war can be classified as long term as long as the effects lasted one year or longer post injury. 1 Many studies by various
researchers were also able to discover that even in long term, death rates from many different causes are elevated for persons with

The Winning Kick
The Winning Kick In football, many games come down to the last wire to where many kickers seem to succeed while many others
often fail. Kickers seem to fail under various amounts of pressure due to crowd noise, not good with pressure, or cannot seem to do
their job so their team can count on them at in point throughout the season. But in this game, my team and I would not take failing or
losing as an option. Waking up to my alarm sounding at early morning I really don t feel like getting up as I try to sleep in as long as I
can. With my dad calling my name from downstairs and constantly calling me on my cell phone, I finally awake my lazy self to get in

and the crowd goes wild. Now it was my turn to add to the score I come out on the field for the extra point. The snap and hold are
good but I pull my body through too much and drill the side of the goal post. Right when the ball sounded against the goal post my
confidence seemed to drop lower than it has ever dropped before as I miss my first extra point of the season. Running off the field my
coach asked me what went wrong and I told him I just pulled it and to my surprise he wasn t even mad at me as he knew my nerves

These children were loyal enough to give any citizen away and even went as far as arresting their own family members away to the

In Winston s marriage with Katherine, it did not possess the usual traits of loyalty, affection and sex. Sexual intercourse was known to

held back many natural emotions that a person should feel. For example throughout the book, Winston resisted many sexual urges,
compulsions to scream curse words, and a desire to denounce Big Brother. It was human nature to want to rebel, but The Party did
everything to drown it s roots and pit everyone against each other. One of the aspects that drove him to indulge in those lacking

authentic affection, he was ready to throw himself at anyone who offered it just to satisfy his desires. After many years of suppressing

Rhetorical Analysis Of John M Barry
John M. Barry uses the various different types of rhetorical strategies to characterize scientific research by comparing the opposites of
both certainty and uncertainty, by referring to life in the woods as a metaphor towards the mind and creation of science, and a series of
rhetorical questions that shows the process and mind of the scientists portrayed in John M Barry s essay. John M. Barry describes
certainty as a way to create strength and gives one something upon which to lean . Uncertainty is something described as a way to
create weakness and makes one tentative if not fearful...may not overcome significant obstacles. This opens up the essay to the
audience so that they can have the ability to agree or disagree with the statements made in the first paragraph. He further on describes
that being a scientist means to have the courage to accept indeed, embrace uncertainty. That s why these statements were included in

Celia speaks to her and Pilar receives her message. García incorporates this element of magical realism to show that they both
desperately want a relationship, but the distance and family conflict only brings the two further apart. The lack of communication
between the two allows them to create their own versions of each other. Celia knows that Pilar wears overalls like a farmhand and
paints canvases with knots and whorls of red that resemble nothing at all (García, 7). Not only does Celia envision what Pilar looks
like, but she also envisions Pilar creating an abstract painting. Celia also envisions Pilar as being pale and cold from malnutrition, this
image reflects how Celia feels about her daughter Lourdes. Celia does not trust that her daughter is a good mother and knows how to
nourish a child. Celia also states that she knows about Pilar s secret diary and how Pilar keeps it hidden from her mother. The thought
of Pilar hiding her diary and not allowing her mother to invade her privacy makes Celia happy. Celia takes pleasure in knowing that

Upbringing Of Humanism In The Renaissance
Upbringing of Humanism
In the Middle Ages, in medieval Europe, rural life had been governed by a feudalistic society, the king granted large pieces of land
called fiefs to noblemen and bishops. The Renaissance, also known as the rebirth which started in Italy, was a period between the 14th
and 16th century where new ideas were born through the revival of the classical art and intellect of Ancient Greece and Rome.
Following the plague of the 14th and 15the centuries the Renaissance was fueled by soldiers returning from the Crusades. There
became a renewed interest in Greek and Roman art, humans became included in art pieces, not just depictions of religious or holy
topics. Although the Middle Ages and Renaissance were similar through the usage of classic greco roman literature, there were more
differences between the two eras because the Renaissance was more Humanistic shown through the advancements in artistic
importance, education and literary enhancements using the printing press. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance the importance of art
was relevant, however, the different styles and amounts of importance differentiated greatly to the point where it outweighed their
similarities. In the Middle Ages, art had drastically differed from that born in the Renaissance. Byzantine style had dominated (Mid.
A.) and much of the art was deemed fit with a religious emphasis. This differed from the Renaissance style (not as religious based) of
classic Greek and Roman ideals

maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts about leaving for Gatsby while she is married to Tom. After
that being said, Tom goes on to expose Gatsby and his past secret life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him,

The World Cup Of The Middle Of A Crowd Singing
We nuh know bout league cah we name World Cup! Every Friday night at ten o clock, I find myself in the middle of a crowd singing
these lyrics at the top of my lungs. Comfortable vibes, nice music, and people from all over Broward and Miami Dade County, gather
at Runway Doral to represent their beautiful Caribbean nationalities. As I dance to the soca music and sing along to Popcaan s World

begin to realize that this is where I belong this is my community.
Everyone has the ability to decide where their puzzle piece fits in this idea of a big picture. No matter where we come from, having a
sense of belonging plays a vital role in one s sense of self. Without belonging to a community that is accepting of your ethics, beliefs,
and lifestyle, it is very difficult to create bonds not only with others, but also within yourself. Growing up in a westernized country,
yet being raised based on Caribbean values, has helped me realize that there is no set restriction to how many communities you can be
a part of. In fact, it is unlikely that anyone fits a single community. Identifying myself as a member of both an American and
Caribbean culture, has broadened my understanding that while both communities may differ in many distinct ways, it is very possible

Impact Of The Fourth Industrial Revolution
The Impacts and Applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
What is the Fourth Industrial Revolution and how it is important?
The developments and transformations of technological revolutions, from the First Industrial Revolution to the Fourth Industrial
Revolution, have plays important roles and significantly influences our working environments, social commutations, and economic
development (Schwab, 2016). Following by the breakthrough of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the expanding of digital platform
and innovation of technology significantly promote the global communication, efficiency on three aspects, included business, people,
and government. In order to successfully corporate and innovate into Fourth Industrial Revolution, the business study and the

What are the impacts and challenges faced by the Fourth Industrial Revolution?
Schwab (2016) said that there are three aspects, included business, people, and government that closely tied together and promote the
development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These aspects not only require us to develop innovated and collaborative mindsets of

On July 7th 2011, Verisign issued a statement declaring that all .com, .net, .org and many other domain names would become under
United States (US) jurisdiction. Websites containing these domain names, which were registered outside of US, have encountered
various implications for multiple reasons. Firstly, although these websites are registered in a country other than the US, they are
subjected to US law despite the fact that the registrar might be living in a country with differentiating laws. The Bodog.com case is a
clear example of this. Secondly, the US now has authority to actually seize a website and hold the website s registrar accountable if

It is clear that the online gaming industry is legal under international law and in the case of these documents it is also clear that the
rule of law was not allowed to slow down a rush to try to win the war of public opinion. This quotation explains the US internet
jurisdiction precisely. Bodog.com did not accept any US bettors and had restricted access to US citizens and the US has no
connections with this website. Online gaming is legal in many international countries and this clearly shows the unnecessary abuse of
power by the US. If this case had been judged prior to this change in approach, Ayre would have been found not guilty and
Bodog.com would still be up and running. Moreover, not only can the US seize a website, but it can also make the registrar of the
website stand trial in the US, if the authorities of the registrar s country decide not to act. This occurred with Richard O Dwyer, a
twenty three year old United Kingdom (UK) resident, created tvshack.net, a website which hosted links to pirated material, but did not
host the material itself (U.S. Claims Global Jurisdiction of .net and .com Web Sites: Is .edu Next?). This did not breach European
internet copyright laws and O Dwyer was never prosecuted for copyright infringement by UK authorities, until the US claimed
jurisdiction over certain domain names including .com and .net. The fact of the matter is that website registrars who

School Security Essay
School Security
Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one figures out, and understand, the
reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be
required in schools because they think it s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to
look the same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing brands that students wear, so
parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that
not everything is going to be their way. Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but
this can create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if everyone wears
uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts.
This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his 1996 State of the Union address.
Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes, suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was
successful for this school district. A study in Long Beach was conducted in the 1990s with school uniforms. The Long Beach district
was the first in the nation to require uniforms. 41% of parents and 86% of teachers agreed that

The Kill List is a British horror film, considered hybrid, coinciding with black comedy, horror comedy, psychological horror, family
drama, hitman action thriller, war, crime thriller, cult, violent drama.
The film incorporates violence throughout, from the first scene with domestic disharmony, to verbal violence, continuing with actual

As the narrative progresses, Jay sinks further into darkness. As Cherry states horror films are socially reflective (Cherry, 2010: 169)

Nonconformism In Manuel Puigan s Kiss Of Spider Woman
In a society governed by straight, cis gender men, the nonconformists have been pushed to the side and hidden from view. Ashamed
by their anomalies, these men have released heteronormative, patriarchal media to create a conformist society and to label any
outsider as strange or other. Although media about the marginalized exists, they are few and far in between, leaving them to
appropriate other forms of expression. In Manuel Puig s Kiss of Spider Woman, Molina, an effeminate gay man, recounts the storyline
of Jacques Tourner s film, Cat People, through a queer perspective. By identifying with a nonhuman figure and distorting a
heteronormative plotline, Molina recognizes the animality, or otherness, within himself due to his nonconforming nature. In Molina s
narration of Tourner s film, he often shows admiration towards Irena, a cat person. When introducing her to Valentín, he expresses that
she is not a woman like all the others, indicating her otherness yet romanticizing her at the same time (Puig 3). She is unlike other
women not only because she s non human but also the heroine (25). This idolization is, furthermore, seen when he bids his cellmate
goodnight. Sweet dreams of Irena, he says, elevating her into an ethereal figure (9). Therefore, Molina s reverence leads him to place
himself in Irena s shoes. Like Irena, he is fond of Oliver because he s the gentle type, and understanding (17); yet, he loathes the
psychiatrist because so does [she], revealing that his feelings towards the characters are dependent on hers (20). In other instances,
Molina seems to know what Irena is thinking and feeling although the film does not delve into her mind. He explains how, when
seeing Oliver, she [had] such a strong desire to kiss him, on the mouth (21). Yet, in the film, the viewer is unable to truly know her
desires unless they are explicitly said. So, Molina has assumed her character mentally and emotionally.
However, Molina s identification with Irena is evident in the encounter with the other foreign woman. In his narration, he explains this
scene almost precisely as it is in the film. The only difference is that Molina can provides a translation for the woman s line.

  • 2. Psy 230 Week 1 Research Paper Week One Week one, I learned about phytochemicals. They are a non nutrient substance, which means they have no nutrients in them. They are not processed or anything because they are naturally occurring in plants. They cannot be found anywhere else. Phytochemicals are not needed for short term survival, which means you don t necessary need them. They are good though because they promote long term health. I applied this to my life by making sure I start having phytochemicals in my diet, so I can help out my long term health. Week Two Week two, I learned about ingestion. I learned when to eat and when you need to stop eating. When you have an appetite that means the psychological desire to eat food. When you are hungry that is the physical sensation of needing to eat food, which is localized in the stomach. Then satiety is the state of having had enough to eat. There is immediate and delayed satiety. There are of course factors that control these, which are the size of your stomach and illness. Also, different mood conditions and your genes play a role. I applied this to my life by knowing when I am at the hunger stage to eat, but when I get to satiety, then I need to stop eating. Week Three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Neolithic Era Vs Paleolithic Essay The Paleolithic Era V.S. The Neolithic Era I am writing this paper to explain the intricate differences between the arts and cultural backgrounds of the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era. This paper will help to better inform the reader on how the two time periods used art to express their purpose and lifestyles. My main goal is to simply differentiate the art tools and methods used throughout these two Eras by adding specific details and hopefully painting a visual picture in the reader s mind. The Paleolithic Era or (Old Stone Age) started around 2.6 million years ago and ended 10,000 years ago. There were many human species in the Paleolithic era but only one species survived up until the Neolithic Era (New Stone Age). Paleolithic Humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Neolithic people had knowledge of farming and herding animals. These people were mainly clothed in the skin of animals that they raised. Unlike the people of the Paleolithic era, the Neolithic people were generally shorter and had lower life expectancies, however, the Neolithic woman produced more children because the nomadic way of living was no longer practiced. Art was very essential in both Eras. Art in the Paleolithic era was either portable or stationary. Their art focused on attempts to control their environment by ritual mainly. The Paleolithic people used tools made of wood, animal bones and stone to create works of art on the walls of their caves. They believed to have animistic religious beliefs so they often decorated their dwellings with pictures of deer mammoths and bison. They also made sculptures (Venus) using similar concepts. The Neolithic Era basically introduced more of the human figures. They created images of human figures more than they did animals. In this Era, tools such as stone, vessel and woven baskets and clay were used. For sculptures they used stone and clay. The Neolithic people focused more on pottery and architecture when portraying their artwork. Settled life started the development of pottery and permanent architecture. Moreover, the Neolithic people were the first to apply pigment to a manmade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis of Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop... Analysis of Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death In regard to Emily Dickinson s poem, Because I Could Not Stop for Death, Critic Eunice Glenn says: In the first two lines Death, personified as a carriage driver, stops for one who could not stop for him. The word kindly is particularly meaningful, for it instantly characterizes Death. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Critic Patricia Engle, on the other hand, looks further and asks, What does the speaker or anyone stop doing for Death? Answering her own question, Engle says: We stop living. In order to illustrate her point, she goes on to say, in reference to the speaker of the poem, She realizes that she cannot recognize Death s power over her. Once she reckons with that eternal or divine bent within her, Death stops; that is, Death ceases to be what Death is an end (Engle 74). Given deeper analysis of the poem as a whole, this interpretation appears to be the most accurate. Death is not the final stopping point for our speaker. The carriage only paused at the grave (17). The Horses Heads / Were toward Eternity (23 24). The poem suggests that death was not meant to be an end human existence will go on for eternity. This accounts for the third, often overlooked, passenger in the carriage Immortality (4). Mortals don t stop for death death stops for them. Death gives way to immortality, and thus, stops being an end. Even if she had wanted to, the speaker could not have stopped for Death. The grave is merely a brief pause on the journey toward Eternity. Dickinson had a definite purpose when she chose to personify death as a carriage driver. Anzaldua believes that her language is yet the most central and important component for her ethnic identity as a person. If her language is threatened, then her individuality is threatened. She basically responds to the violence she experienced as her character was restricted in this dominating society that she was trying to adapt in. Anzaldua used quotes from various scholars who feel the same way about the society as she did about language, identity, racism, and cultural imperialism. Additionally, her writing was based on personal experience which enriches the essay with credibility since the reader is able to get the experience first handed by the victim of these crimes. Furthermore, as an immigrant myself, I was attracted to this essay because I could relate to many of the topics she covered. I also saw this as a way to compare my experience with hers so I could see how much this society has improved overall. I was gulped in the essay by the use of metaphor in the beginning of the essay which created this interesting curious vibe that grasped my attention. The chapel was almost missed, if it not for Sir Gawain noticing a rounded hillock on the bank of a stream, near the bed of a torrent that tumbled there (Sir Gawain 2172 73). Sir Gawain entered the mound, which was the entrance to the chapel. Here, he met up with the Green Knight. This is where he reached the end of his quest and was destined to receive his blow to the neck. Sir Gawain moved away from the first attempt, which caused the Knight to suspect that he was not the true knight of the quest. After a dialogue was exchanged between the two, the Green Knight struck a blow to Sir Gawain, which only nicked his neck. The Green Knight told him that his wife was Morgan, whom Gawain spent time with in the Manor, and she was sent to test Gawain. The Green Knight called Sir Gawain one of the most perfect men who ever walked on the earth (Sir Gawain 2363). • 33. Upbringing Of Humanism In The Renaissance Upbringing of Humanism In the Middle Ages, in medieval Europe, rural life had been governed by a feudalistic society, the king granted large pieces of land called fiefs to noblemen and bishops. The Renaissance, also known as the rebirth which started in Italy, was a period between the 14th and 16th century where new ideas were born through the revival of the classical art and intellect of Ancient Greece and Rome. Following the plague of the 14th and 15the centuries the Renaissance was fueled by soldiers returning from the Crusades. There became a renewed interest in Greek and Roman art, humans became included in art pieces, not just depictions of religious or holy topics. Although the Middle Ages and Renaissance were similar through the usage of classic greco roman literature, there were more differences between the two eras because the Renaissance was more Humanistic shown through the advancements in artistic importance, education and literary enhancements using the printing press. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance the importance of art was relevant, however, the different styles and amounts of importance differentiated greatly to the point where it outweighed their similarities. School Security Essay School Security Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one figures out, and understand, the reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be required in schools because they think it s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to look the same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing brands that students wear, so parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that not everything is going to be their way. Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but this can create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if everyone wears uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts. This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his 1996 State of the Union address. Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes, suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was successful for this school district. • 43. Nonconformism In Manuel Puigan s Kiss Of Spider Woman In a society governed by straight, cis gender men, the nonconformists have been pushed to the side and hidden from view. Ashamed by their anomalies, these men have released heteronormative, patriarchal media to create a conformist society and to label any outsider as strange or other. Although media about the marginalized exists, they are few and far in between, leaving them to appropriate other forms of expression. In Manuel Puig s Kiss of Spider Woman, Molina, an effeminate gay man, recounts the storyline of Jacques Tourner s film, Cat People, through a queer perspective. By identifying with a nonhuman figure and distorting a heteronormative plotline, Molina recognizes the animality, or otherness, within himself due to his nonconforming nature. In Molina s narration of Tourner s film, he often shows admiration towards Irena, a cat person. When introducing her to Valentín, he expresses that she is not a woman like all the others, indicating her otherness yet romanticizing her at the same time (Puig 3). She is unlike other women not only because she s non human but also the heroine (25). This idolization is, furthermore, seen when he bids his cellmate goodnight. Sweet dreams of Irena, he says, elevating her into an ethereal figure (9). Therefore, Molina s reverence leads him to place himself in Irena s shoes. Like Irena, he is fond of Oliver because he s the gentle type, and understanding (17); yet, he loathes the psychiatrist because so does [she], revealing that his feelings towards the characters are dependent on hers (20). In other instances, Molina seems to know what Irena is thinking and feeling although the film does not delve into her mind. He explains how, when seeing Oliver, she [had] such a strong desire to kiss him, on the mouth (21). Yet, in the film, the viewer is unable to truly know her desires unless they are explicitly said. So, Molina has assumed her character mentally and emotionally. However, Molina s identification with Irena is evident in the encounter with the other foreign woman.
