Outline On Elephant Research Paper
Everything Elephant Thesis: (Nature is the driving force of the world, with a part of this the animal
kingdom; in particular; the elephant a majestic gentle giant with intellect, emotions, and so many
amazing things that people should know.)( Elephants are beautiful, intelligent, and important animals
that have so many fun things to learn about.)
Topic Sentence 1: Elephants are some of the most intellectually advanced animals to walk the the
earth.
Supporting Reason 1: Elephants are some of the most intelligent animals on the planet.
Textual Evidence: While the behavior of elephants of elephants provides clear evidence of high
intelligence, there has been little definitive experimental evidence. However, one capacity that has

They are much smaller in size and their ears are straight at the bottom, unlike the large fan shape ears
of the African species. Only some Asian male elephants have tusks. All African elephants, including
females, have tusks. Elephants are either left or right tusked and the one they use more is usually
smaller because of wear and tear. The Asian elephant has four toes on the hind foot and five on the
forefoot, while the African elephant has three on the hind foot and five on the forefoot.
Explanation and Analysis: There really are a lot of characteristics overlooked when talking about
Elephants as a whole species.
B. Supporting Sentence 2: Elephants are actually very social and tend to travel more in herds and
groups rather than on their own, and are even very friendly and social with humans, when they have
been around them for long enough.
Textual Evidence: Social Beasts: The elephant s massive stature and instantly recognizable trunk are
familiar to people around the world. Elephant society is matriarchal; the groups are highly social and

A Method Of Using Mrf Model
A method of using MRF model in image segmentation
Abstract
Machine vision is a high speed developing field in AI, and image identification is becoming more and
more important with higher and higher requires of AI. As a big part of image identification, it is
abviously necessary to develop better solution in image segmentation, thus machine could identity
objects easier. The division technique for pictures based on Markov Random Field (MRF)
demonstrate ready to combine the contextual information from label pictures and statistical properties
of pictures to be segmented.
In this paper, we start from MRF theory, described the principle and methods of MRF model, and
discussed the advantages of using MRF model in image processing, also concluded researches and
experiences all of the world. And we summarized some types of iterative algorithms of MRF models,
also the features of these algorithms are analyzed and compared. We also did some simulations of
some typical algorithms and the results were compared with traditional methods which demonstrated
that using MRF model could have better performance in segmentation.
Key words: Markov random field, image segmentation, adaptive neighborhood, prior information
Projection description
What is the problem to be addressed?
The specific problem to be addressed is one modified segmentation method using MRF model, the
neighborhood of pixels, this is a little improving in neighborhood model choosing which is really
efficient. As there are

Soderbergh s Use Of Editing Techniques Used In A Film
Directors utilize a variety of editing tools to highlight elements of a film s narrative. Cross cutting is
an editing technique that shows multiple streams of action occurring at the same time. Steven
Soderbergh uses this device in the opening sequences of his film, Contagion, (2011). The film begins
with a black screen and the sound of a cough from an unknown person and cuts to a close up of
Gwyneth Paltrow eating nuts out of a bowl at an airport bar. Soderbergh shows the viewer that this is
the second day of an unknown disease outbreak by superimposing the information in red across the
screen. In the next shot, he cross cuts to an establishing shot of Hong Kong and superimposes the city
s name and population informing the viewer that

Essay about Comparing In Our World and the World of The...
Parallels In Our World and the World of The Giver
The story in The Giver by Lois Lowry takes place in a community that is not normal. People cannot
see color, it is an offense for somebody to touch others, and the community assigns people jobs and
children. This unnamed community shown through Jonas eye, the main character in this novel, is a
perfect society. There is no war, crime, and hunger. Most readers might take it for granted that the
community in The Giver differs from the real society. However, there are several affinities between
the society in present day and that in this fiction: estrangement of elderly people, suffering of
surrogate mothers, and wanting of euthanasia.
The first similarity is that elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That job has very little honor in this community. Three years, Three births and that s all. After that
they are Laborers for the rest of their adult lives, until the day that they enter the House of the Old...
The Birthmothers never even get to see new children (p. 22). Today, some women decide to become
surrogate mothers of other women s babies because of several reasons, such as sympathy for the
couples who cannot have children of their own or financial reason. However, to carry other women s
children gives surrogate moms great senses of responsibility. They writhe in not only soreness of
body, but also agony of mentality. The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is
greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes.
The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release
in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. Nevertheless,
some people want to be released from the community. He made a lovely good bye speech... He was
thrilled. You should have seen the look on his face when they let him go... through the special door in
the Releasing Room. But you should have seen his look. Pure happiness, I d call it (p. 32). Roberto
does not fear his release, but waits for it. Of course, some people might say that he probably does not
know actual release. He obviously knows the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fiber Optic Cable
A fiber optic cable is a network cable that contains strands of glass fibers within an insulated casing.
There are designed for very high performance data networking, long distance and
telecommunications. Compare with wired cables, fiber optic cables give higher bandwidth and can
transmit data over longer distances. Fiber optic cables support world s internet, telephone systems and
cable television. Fiber optic cables transmit signals using pulses of light generated by light emitting
diodes (LEDs) or tiny lasers. The cable consists of one or more strands of glass, each only slightly
thicker than a human hair. The center of each strand is called the core. The core provides the pathway
for light to travel and core is enclosed by a layer of glass known as cladding that ... Show more

Fusion splicing needs a constant power supply and some special tools. 3. There are some situations
where fusion splicing is not practical or can said it is impossible. Therefor an alternative we have to
use mechanical splicing. 4. It is a time consuming process and It can t be used for temporary

occasional replacement and electrode alignment. 6.Fusion splicing is mainly used with single mode
fiber unlike mechanical splicing which works for single mode fiber as well as multi mode fiber.
Apparatus required Fusion Splicer A fiber optic fusion splicer is a device that uses an electric arc to
melt two optical fibers together at their end faces, to form a one long fiber. The resulting joint, or
fusion splice, permanently joins the two glass fibers end to end. Therefore, optical light signals will
transmit from one fiber into the other with very little loss. Fiber Cleaver Fiber cleaver that scribes and
breaks (cleaves) the fibers to be spliced exactly, because the quality of the splice will depend on the

John Locke And The State Of Nature
John Locke gives this very well thought out way of explaining how people are born with the right to
take ownership of the fruits of the earth. Everyone comes to having a right to all the fruits of the earth
because we are all born equal. That being said, everyone owns only their own person, and we are to be
considered as property. Therefore if we own our own person and everything that we entail to be, we
also would own our own labor and work of our hands. What makes property our own is when we
work with the state of nature and everything that has been provided from God through the state of
nature. We do not earn the right to ownership simply because we do more work than someone else, but
because through our work we have mixed the state of nature with ourselves making it part of our
property. However as there are rights to the property, there are also limitations based on how much we
can use or own. As a community living together in the state of nature we must leave a fair and equally
prosperous amount to our fellow people. If this limitation is not in place some people would not ever
have the opportunity to own property because the strongest and the smartest would be able to tend to
the land better than them. Another limitation placed on this theory is that you only have the right to
own what you can tend to. This means that if you own property that you cannot properly tend to and
some of the land becomes unfertile you have taken property that is not beneficial to you or

The Sports And Entertainment Organization
As an Executive in the Monumental Sports and Entertainment organization, I have been tasked with
the responsibility to analyze the upcoming culmination of our broadcasting contract with CSN Mid
Atlantic. Currently, we have a partnership with CSN for the broadcasts of the Washington Capitals and
Washington Wizards games. The Capitals contract is coming to an end after the 2016/2017 season and
the Wizards contract is not until after the 2020/2021 season. With all the specifics of the current
partnership in the favor of CSN s (Steinberg, 2014), our organization has reached out with them to talk
about restructuring our deal, but had no luck as of date.
Monumental Sports and Entertainment is an enterprise that showcases both sports organizations, the
Verizon Center venue along with multiple other ones. Monumental has also started a broadcasting
network which is relatively new. The Network utilizes the internet to distribute its content and
provides fans with all news in DC sports. It currently does not broadcast Wizards or Capitals games.
We have explored the option of broadcasting the games in house and through Monumental Network.
Majority owner of Monumental and both teams, Ted Leonsis expects that Monumental Network could
one day broadcast Caps and Wizards games, in addition to other local programming. Leonsis would
like to wait until Monumental is a little but more profitable because he is dealing with player
contracts, the Verizon Center venue and labor costs in his

Virtual Public School Report
Before I came to a virtual public school, I attended a private school and was homeschooled throughout
middle school. My mom chose to homeschool my siblings and I because she was travel nurse, which
caused us to move every year.
When my sister and I was enrolled, the level of flexibility this program offered pleased my mom s
concerns, while also providing rigorous courses and standards. My mother wanted my younger
brothers to receive this type of education. However, in the following school year, new laws were set in
place to restrict students from enrolling who were not already public school student.
Seeing how this issue affected more than just my family, I decided to take action and figure out how to
help solve this problem. I researched more about about my state s legislative, as well as the agency in
charge of educational resources and standards. I then found out about B 894, a bill that has the
potential to remove enrollment restrictions from our school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Reggio Emili Curriculum Methods Techniques
Curriculum Comparison
Jessica Buschmann
ECE 220: Curriculum Methods Techniques
7 February 2016
The Reggio Emilia approach originated in the town of Reggio Emilia in Italy. By the end of WWII,
parents and educators in the city developed an educational system for young children. By the 1980s,
many educators across the globe were choosing to use the Reggio Emilia method in the classroom.
The Reggio Emilia approach is considered an in depth project that emerges from the children s
intellectual curiosity, social interactions, and interests (p. 60). Teachers view themselves as partners in
learning and encourage children to express their knowledge through language or modes of expression.
Some examples of modes of expression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the Sociocultural theory and Reggio Emilia approach provide a learning environment by
teaching basic principles of life and gaining experiences.
The Reggio Emilia approach creates a caring community of learners through provocation; a challenge
to think and wonder (p. 60). The teachers encourage the children to create projects based on their
interests. For example, a well known Reggio project was created after a teacher purposely challenged
the children to be creative. The project started from a life size giraffe puppet and ended with a portrait
of the lion statues in the town plaza. Teachers use documentation to learn more about the children,
curriculum planning, teacher development, and connecting with families and communities. This
allows teachers to be more prepared and have the ability to enhance development and learning. The
systematic study approach also helps assess the children s development needs and learning challenges.
Teachers plan curriculums based on current interests, experiences and/or important goals the children
want to achieve. Another main focus is documenting progress through photographs, transcriptions, and
display for the children and family members to appreciate and examine. It helps establish a
relationship with not only the children and their work, but also for the teachers and family members
(p. 60).

Essay on Breaking Down the Barriers to Feminist Art Work
Breaking Down the Barriers to Feminist Art Work
Every time a girl reads a womanless history she learns she is worth less.
While studying art history in Pre Industrial Visual Cultures this semester, one theme has become
painfully obvious. There are few if any women artists included in the study of art history. If you dig
deep into the books you can find mention of many unknown, unrecognized and often times very
talented women artists from the past. Women in history are simply not recognized, and this is due to a
large extent to their exclusion from the art world. My paper chooses to focus on a few female artists of
the sixties and seventies who sought to make up for past history and ensure women were known.
These women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her most famous piece is entitled ìThe Dinner Partyî and in this she sets a large table with 39 place
settings for women from the past. Along with this there are hundreds of other names and these include
past women artists including Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt. The purpose of this piece was to
show how many women from history are unrecognized and forgotten. These women have made
lasting and powerful contributions to our society and yet they are essentially left out of history and
overshadowed by their male counterparts. This was especially true in art history, and Chicago
attempted to show how important it was that females have a place in history. Therefore the exclusion
of women from history, had a profound impact on Chicago and greatly impacted her art making.
The Dinner Partyî utilizes female sexual imagery to further establish a female presence in the work.
The plates for ìThe Dinner Partyî clearly depict vaginal imagery. Chicago termed this imagery central
core imagery and she attempted to invent a new female language. Chicago in an interview with Lucy
Lippard says that, ìif women make art differently from men, it means that women are actually
independent from menî (Lippard, 228). Her work was trying to eradicate the negative stereotypes
people had about females and establish the importance of women both in the past and present. This
work sought to repair some of the damage suffered from the exclusion

Comparing Lyric Poetry Of Homer And Hesiod
All of these lyric poems are spoken in first person, revolving around drama in the Greek city states.
Lyric poems follow a rhythm that will be performed solo. The lyric poems are significantly different
from the single rhythm epics such as Homer and Hesiod. Containing greater rhythmic diversity in the
verses. These rhythmic verses are accompanied by a lyre to give a melodic flow to the poem. Also
lyric poetry having a shorter narrative that compares to the epics of Homer and Hesiod.
The theme presented are politics, love, and war. These themes meant to convey expression of the

Racial Prejudice And Racial Discrimination During The 1920...
A Colorblind America When people refer to America, they typically think of it as the melting pot in
the center of the earth. However, for a country that prides itself in advocating freedom and equality for
all, the United States has a long history of segregation and discrimination that has long affected
present policy. It is clear that racial minorities have been targets of this racial bias for years, and even
after slavery was abolished, African Americans continued to face the most racism due to the color of
their skin. Thus, by looking at how John Franklin s life experience as a boy scout during the 1920 s
illustrates a small peek into the history of race and ethnicity in America, we can see how racial
hostility, and the Anglo Saxon view of a white American identity played a major role in defining the
color line in American culture. Consequently, rather than enjoying equal liberties as did any other
American citizen, African Americans faced many political, social, and economic discriminations that
only proved that race was nothing more than a socially constructed product of hatred. Accordingly, in
John Hope Franklin s oral history from storycorps.org, the late scholar of African American history,
tells his son about his days as a boy scout during the 1920 s. At first, Franklin begins his story with the
bright, enthusiastic attitude that he held as a young boy scout, who simply wanted to do a good deed.
He then goes on to explain how he saw a woman with a cane who

Essay about We Wear the Mask
Paul Laurence Dunbar, dispatches the cold troubles of African Americans in the lyrical poem, We
Wear the Mask. In this poem, Dunbar links imagery, rhythm, rhyme, and word choice to in order to
institute a connection to the reader. From reading the poem, one can infer that Mr. Dunbar is speaking
in general, of the misery that many people keep concealed under a grin that they wear very well. But if
one were to go further and take the time to research Mr. Dunbar s selection of this piece and the era of
which this poem was written, one would come to understand that this poem focuses entirely on Paul
Laurence Dunbar s viewpoints on racial prejudice and the struggle for equality for the African
American s of his time period. Though this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since it does, when reading each line, there is a resilient connection that allows the reader to put
together and feel for what the narrator is speaking of. As each line is metrically linked, the words are
further recited in a durable voice and the poem is virtually put together, musically. In the first and
second lines of the third stanza, an apostrophe, a figure of speech that directly addresses an absent
person or entity, is presented, We smile, but O great Christ, our cries to thee from tortured souls arise.
Alliteration and metaphors are two major elements of this poem. The repetition of consonant sounds
and alliteration occurs throughout the poem. All of the lines strongly use the repetition of consonants
and alliteration except for lines two and seven. In addition to that, the controlling figure of speech in
this poem is a metaphor. It is strongly articulated in the first line, and as the one continues to read, it is
amplified and extended throughout the rest of the poem. The metaphor compares mask of Line 1 to the
fabricated emotive facades that African Americans had made use of in order to avert provoking their
oppressors.
Ultimately, since Dunbar avoids specifically mentioning blacks and their suffering, with the history of
this poem in mind, this poem could stand as a lament on behalf of all of the individuals who were
forcefully made to wear a mask just as a girl who tries to hide her pregnancy from her parents, or as a
boy who

Dr. Sigmund Freud In Adlous Huxley s Brave New World
Adlous Huxley s novel, Brave New World, builds upon the ideas that were dominant and fresh in the
early part of the twentieth century. One such idea was Psychoanalysis, propagated by Dr. Sigmund
Freud. Though a psychoanalytical interpretation can be applied to any novel after the fact, I believe
Huxley used elements of the approach in the creation of his characters and plot. In this novel Huxley
presents a dystopic society in which various scientific and psychological techniques are used to
control people from their conception to their death.
Freud divided the personality into the id, ego and super ego. The id is home to animal urges, such as
hunger or sexual desire. In babies the first facet of personality to develop is the id, they demand ...

(102) In our society, Freud would say a person who behaves in this way has a fixation; their
psychological functioning has been stunted. However, in Bernard s society this would constitute as
normal functioning. The New World government conditions people to have extremely powerful super
egos that actually encourage, rather than inhibit, instant gratification of id impulses. As a result the ego
is diminished and people do not have to cope with conflicting emotions. This seems to create stability
in society, or at least passivity. The Director understands that this type of psychological conditioning
in the individual is essential to the functioning of society as a whole. Alphas are so conditioned that
they do not have to be infantile their emotional behaviour... It is their duty to be infantile, even against
their inclination. (106)
Since the general population of the Brave New world do not have families, they cannot reach
psychological maturity. Controller Mond subscribes to the view that families cause madness and
suicide (52) which was introduced by the Ford.

psychological matters Our Freud had been the first to reveal the appalling dangers of family life.

The Importance Of A Well Prepared Environment
Maria Montessori inadvertently created an alternative to traditional schooling. She did this by
allowing her pupils the opportunity to learn through action rather than repetition. Montessori had five
main principles: respect for the child, sensitive periods, the prepared environment, auto education, and
the teacher s role. In this paper I will discuss the prepared environment thoroughly and how a well
prepared environment can positively affect each student in the 3 6 classroom. I will, in reflection,
discuss the negative outcomes that may arise from an ill prepared classroom.
Sensitive periods are blocks of time in a child s life when the child is absorbed with one characteristic
of the environment to the exclusion of all others (Lillard, 1972, p.33). These sensitive periods are: a
need for order, the use of the hand and tongue, the development of walking, a fascination with minute
and detailed objects, and a time of intense social interest (Lillard, 1972, p.33).
The first, and most prevalent in a classroom, of the sensitive periods is the need for order which
begins within the first year of life. Rules and routine are important in a newborn s day; consistency is
key to a happy baby (Knestrict, 2015). Rules and routine in a newborns day gives them the knowledge
that their caretakers are able to be relied on. They know they ll get fed and changed when need be,
they ll be put to bed when they re tired and even get to see new faces routinely (ie. Babysitters,

The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems
The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals:
Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four
theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation.
There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the
best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out.
RELATIVISM ETHICS
There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural
Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the
individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall
relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not
likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social
experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding
people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this
might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there
are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If
someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which

acknowledged as an important context for children s learning and development.

The Zoo Story by Edward Albee Essay
The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
In Edward Albee s play, The Zoo Story, Jerry tells Peter bizarre stories about people he has
encountered that influence his shallow and lonely existence, to demonstrate Albee s view that society
is unnecessarily consumed by indifference, unkindness, weakness, and emptiness. In an attempt to
cause Peter to realize that his own life is filled with emptiness and shallowness, Jerry tells Peter about
the lives of some of the people in his boarding house. He talks about the colored queen, the Puerto
Rican family, the landlady, and the woman who cries all the time, in hopes of causing Peter to
compare the meaninglessness of his life to their lives. In doing this, Jerry hopes Peter will realize that

Albee is commenting that people need to foster their inner selves in addition to what they allow others
to see on the outside.
Another interesting piece of information that Jerry presents to Peter about the colored queen is that he
always leaves the door open when he is plucking his eyebrows. Not only does this reinforce the fact
that he is self absorbed and materialistic, but it tells something about the inside of his persona as well.
The act of plucking one s eyebrows is quite painful, and the fact that he leaves his door open when
committing this act of self mutilation reflects the idea that he wants society to be aware of his inner
pain and strife. People are constantly looking for sympathy and for others to tell them that everything
will be all right. The colored queen is no different. He wants people to be aware that he feels pain.
Keeping his door open shows that he, like the rest society, is crying out for help, and wants to be
noticed and cared for.
While the colored queen represents the part of society that wallows in their own self pity, Albee points
out through the use of other minor characters that there are other ways of avoiding pain, and dealing
with that pain. The Puerto Rican family that lives in Jerry s building tries to escape pain instead of
dealing with it or looking for help. Their method is avoidance. They avoid pain by constantly having
fun. Jerry mentions that they entertain a lot, and it

Women s Impact On American History
In today s society, fraternities and sororities have been known to have major impressions on students
who attend college. In some cases, Greek organizations and their standings at universities aid in
determining ones choice for higher education. For example, some schools are known for sports, others
are known for their Black Greek Letter Organizations. When it comes to fraternities and sororities in
general, the topic could seem somewhat controversial due to mixed emotions and beliefs. While
attending an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) the accusations of Greeks running the
yard became vividly true. The topic of research to be discussed is objectification, power and the
perception of African Americans affiliated with sororities and fraternities at Historically Black
Colleges and Universities.
The country s verifiably Black Greek letter associations (BGLOs), by and large alluded to as the
Divine Nine, have had fundamental impact in American history. Since each association s establishing
all through the 20th century, Black organizations and sororities have not just given African Americans
with a group to uplift each other, they have additionally made striking commitments to society,
especially in the ranges of social liberties, social welfare and governmental issues.
The rundown of trailblazing African Americans who have hailed from BGLOs compasses the range of
American life, going from work pioneer A. Philip Randolph, who was one of the coordinators of

he is not perfectly made on the inside as he struggles to find his true purpose and identity in the Epic
of Gilgamesh. He, who proves good at heart in the conclusion of the epic, does not know why he was
created and is frustrated at his mortal third in his early life. Made to bring strength and prosperity to

After Enkidu s passing, Gilgamesh develops a fear for death, believing his fate will be like that of his
friend. When Siduri confronts Gilgamesh, he makes clear his overwhelming fear of death from
Enkidu.
Because of my brother I am afraid of death, because of my brother I stray through the wilderness and
cannot rest. But now, young woman, maker of wine, since I have seen your face do not let me see the
face of death which I dread so much.
She answered, Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that life for which you are
looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own
keeping. (102 Epic of Gilgamesh)
After being told this, Gilgamesh still will not accept this fate, his fear of death and longing for eternal
life too strong in his heart. Utnapishtim puts Gilgamesh to a test to become a god and upon failing, he
begins to realize he is not worthy to be a god or have everlasting life. Again he is denied everlasting
life when the serpent snatches the flower that restores youth from Gilgamesh s grasp. After Gilgamesh
is denied everlasting life when the serpent snatches the flower that restores youth from his grasp, the
realization that he will never be immortal comes over him and he begins his journey home. Upon
arrival to the city of Uruk, Gilgamesh swells with pride

Examples Of Circe s Power In The Odyssey
Circe s Power is a poem that tells a portion of The Odyssey from Circe s perspective. It reflects upon
and expands upon themes and ideas prevalent in The Odyssey. Some of these include the idea of not
wanting to go home and the theme of illusion versus reality. Throughout the novel, it has been shown
that after going to war, Odysseus and his men aren t the same as when they left. Also, despite the fact
that they are on a journey home, they keep going in circles, both internally and externally. In the
poem, Circe acknowledges the fact that Odysseus men aren t bad men, but an undisciplined life
caused them to act like pigs. However, she and her ladies sweetened them right up. This sweetening
up allows the men to rest and recuperate after the

The original bond price is $5,100,000 and par value of the bond is $5,425,530, then the bond is selling
at a discount. If the new bond price were selling at $5,600,000 then the bond would be selling at a
premium. The important part is the to determine whether the bond is under valued or over valued
For instance if the bond was selling at $5,100,000 and the par value was $5,425,530 and the stated
yield was 8.11%, then the bond is over valued because the bond price with yield of 8.11% should be
$4,800,000. If the bond price was $5,100,000 and the par value was $5,425,530 and the stated yield
was 5.74%, then the bond is under valued because the bond price with a yield of 5.74% should be

Shakespeare In The Bush By Laura Bohannan Analysis
Its amazing to think that our recent ancestors saw nothing wrong with burning witches and hanging
children for the crime of stealing a handkerchief while in today s Western society it is universally
accepted that these punishments are no longer acceptable. While studying AS level sociology I was
struck by the way in which individuals can affect these hugely influential changes on the society
around them. This concept, along with my study of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia, led me to a
fascination with the affects that propaganda can have on a society. The way in which such simple
methods such as posters or radio broadcasts can create a deeply nationalist and elitist society, such as
the Third Reich, which allowed for the morally destitute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They praised the murderous uncle for marrying his brother s widow while condemning Hamlet for
rejecting his new father by trying to avenge the late King s death, thus showing that certain features of
society are not universal but in fact differ depending on the culture that a person grew up in. A level
History helped to strengthen my impression that there are no universals by developing my
understanding of how factors like war and technology transform our social attitudes. Religious Studies
A level adds another dimension to this awareness of radical cultural difference. Although Christianity
has its origins in Judaism, its core assumptions are so different as to make the two incompatible, so I
am not surprised that in former times these differences led to war and persecution. The sociology of
religion and the influence of religious values on secular law is a particular interest of mine. A week s
work experience in the fashion industry sparked my interest in the sociology of fashion and led me to
research the links between fashion and social forces. Especially interesting were the 1920 s
androgynous flapper style and the 1960 s baby doll style, both of which tell us something important
about these decades. I am keen to pass on my enthusiasm for Sociology to others considering taking
the subject. As a Sociology prefect, I ran introductory lessons for younger pupils, introducing them to
the key concepts of sociology. I look forward to taking my understanding further at university in order
to put my enthusiasm to good use a future

Age-Related Degeneration Paper
For many people being diagnosed with a new disease could come as a shock because it is going to be
a life changing event. One of the biggest life changing diseases is Age Related Macular Degeneration.
For those people who do not know what Age Related Macular Degeneration is it is a disease that
attacks the macula part of the eye, which affects vision. AMD is found in a majority of older people
over the age of 50. For the people that are diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration their
lives are going to be turned upside down. Newly diagnosed patients often suffer from depression after
the diagnoses. In my research I found a journal that was written with some statistics of people with
AMD that have depressive symptoms against controls . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study shows that the patients with AMD have decreased function psychologically along with
functionally. The data for the research was chosen at random The participants were divided into two
groups: participants diagnosed with AMD, and participants without reported ocular diseases (Pg 376).
The people chosen for this study were over the age of 55 with evidence of AMD. In the study it stated
they used the nine depression items from the Goldberg Anxiety and Depression Scale (Pg 376) . A
patient having AMD had a 36% chance of having depressive symptoms where the controls used in the
study had a 30% chance of having depressive symptoms (Pg 377). It is also shown that over half of
the people with AMD have depressive symptoms. It is believed that these people have depressive
symptoms due to having a decreased quality of life. Lastly, it is shown that people with AMD do not
compare to people of similar age when it comes to socializing and functioning. So, there are statistics
showing that people with age related macular degeneration have a higher risk at becoming depressed
versus people who do not have age related macular degeneration. This is believed to be stemmed from
the decrease in socialization and independence. These patients who were once able to live on their
own and maintain a normal social life are no longer able to do the things they once did on their

The African world view in Soyinka s Death and the King s Horseman
In his play, Death and the King s Horseman, Wole Soyinka uses certain literary forms and devices to
intermix Yoruba culture and a predominantly European dramatic form to create a play easily
understood by the audience, but that allows the introduction of a foreign influence. These devices
include the use of a songlike quality in dialogue and the telling of stories, the use of personification
and metaphor to give an exotic quality to the play, and the use of certain elements to provide the
reader with a sense of the mystic traditions that are Africa. These Yoruban elements are best explained

Elesin: (Executes a brief, half taunting dance . . . as he chants the story of the Not I bird, his voice
changing dexterously to mimic his characters . . . )
Death came calling.
Who does not know his rasp of reeds?
A twilight whisper in the leaves before
The great araba falls? Did you hear it?
Not I! Swears the farmer. He snaps
His fingers round his head, abandons
A hard worn harvest and begins
A rapid dialogue with his legs. (1158)
Soyinka uses personification and metaphor to lend an exotic, poetic quality to the play. In this excerpt
from page 1159, Elesin personifies envy, symbolizing its attacking quality, uses houseposts as a
metaphor to symbolize the building of trust, and termites as a metaphor to symbolize the way in which
time eats at all things. Elesin also uses the twilight hour, or the coming of the end of the day, to
symbolize the approaching of the end of his life, and bats and rodents as symbols of things that might
tarnish the honor given him because of his duty to his king and the trust built with his king. Line 213
begins:
Elesin: The world was mine. Our joint hands
Raised houseposts of trust that withstood
The siege of envy and the termites of time.
But the twilight hour brings bats and rodents
Should I yield them cause to foul the rafters? (1159)
Soyinka uses mystic elements to provide the reader with a sense of the Africa of tradition. The
religious traditions of Africa are rife

  • 3. A Method Of Using Mrf Model A method of using MRF model in image segmentation Abstract Machine vision is a high speed developing field in AI, and image identification is becoming more and more important with higher and higher requires of AI. As a big part of image identification, it is abviously necessary to develop better solution in image segmentation, thus machine could identity objects easier. The division technique for pictures based on Markov Random Field (MRF) demonstrate ready to combine the contextual information from label pictures and statistical properties of pictures to be segmented. In this paper, we start from MRF theory, described the principle and methods of MRF model, and discussed the advantages of using MRF model in image processing, also concluded researches and experiences all of the world. And we summarized some types of iterative algorithms of MRF models, also the features of these algorithms are analyzed and compared. We also did some simulations of some typical algorithms and the results were compared with traditional methods which demonstrated that using MRF model could have better performance in segmentation. Key words: Markov random field, image segmentation, adaptive neighborhood, prior information Projection description What is the problem to be addressed? The specific problem to be addressed is one modified segmentation method using MRF model, the neighborhood of pixels, this is a little improving in neighborhood model choosing which is really efficient. • 4. Soderbergh s Use Of Editing Techniques Used In A Film Directors utilize a variety of editing tools to highlight elements of a film s narrative. Cross cutting is an editing technique that shows multiple streams of action occurring at the same time. Steven Soderbergh uses this device in the opening sequences of his film, Contagion, (2011). The film begins with a black screen and the sound of a cough from an unknown person and cuts to a close up of Gwyneth Paltrow eating nuts out of a bowl at an airport bar. Soderbergh shows the viewer that this is the second day of an unknown disease outbreak by superimposing the information in red across the screen. • 5. Essay about Comparing In Our World and the World of The... Parallels In Our World and the World of The Giver The story in The Giver by Lois Lowry takes place in a community that is not normal. People cannot see color, it is an offense for somebody to touch others, and the community assigns people jobs and children. This unnamed community shown through Jonas eye, the main character in this novel, is a perfect society. There is no war, crime, and hunger. Most readers might take it for granted that the community in The Giver differs from the real society. However, there are several affinities between the society in present day and that in this fiction: estrangement of elderly people, suffering of surrogate mothers, and wanting of euthanasia. The first similarity is that elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That job has very little honor in this community. Three years, Three births and that s all. Today, some women decide to become surrogate mothers of other women s babies because of several reasons, such as sympathy for the couples who cannot have children of their own or financial reason. However, to carry other women s children gives surrogate moms great senses of responsibility. They writhe in not only soreness of body, but also agony of mentality. The psychological pain by giving their babies to other women is greater than that of body. Thus, some surrogate mothers refuse to give up their babies sometimes. The third similarity is that some people want to embrace euthanasia in any society. Here is the release in the community. The release is not a natural death, but the end of life by human being. Nevertheless, some people want to be released from the community. He made a lovely good bye speech... He was thrilled. There are designed for very high performance data networking, long distance and telecommunications. Compare with wired cables, fiber optic cables give higher bandwidth and can transmit data over longer distances. Fiber optic cables support world s internet, telephone systems and cable television. Fiber optic cables transmit signals using pulses of light generated by light emitting diodes (LEDs) or tiny lasers. • 7. John Locke And The State Of Nature John Locke gives this very well thought out way of explaining how people are born with the right to take ownership of the fruits of the earth. Everyone comes to having a right to all the fruits of the earth because we are all born equal. That being said, everyone owns only their own person, and we are to be considered as property. Therefore if we own our own person and everything that we entail to be, we also would own our own labor and work of our hands. What makes property our own is when we work with the state of nature and everything that has been provided from God through the state of nature. We do not earn the right to ownership simply because we do more work than someone else, but because through our work we have mixed the state of nature with ourselves making it part of our property. However as there are rights to the property, there are also limitations based on how much we can use or own. As a community living together in the state of nature we must leave a fair and equally prosperous amount to our fellow people. If this limitation is not in place some people would not ever have the opportunity to own property because the strongest and the smartest would be able to tend to the land better than them. Another limitation placed on this theory is that you only have the right to own what you can tend to. This means that if you own property that you cannot properly tend to and some of the land becomes unfertile you have taken property that is not beneficial to you or ... The Sports And Entertainment Organization As an Executive in the Monumental Sports and Entertainment organization, I have been tasked with the responsibility to analyze the upcoming culmination of our broadcasting contract with CSN Mid Atlantic. Currently, we have a partnership with CSN for the broadcasts of the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards games. The Capitals contract is coming to an end after the 2016/2017 season and the Wizards contract is not until after the 2020/2021 season. With all the specifics of the current partnership in the favor of CSN s (Steinberg, 2014), our organization has reached out with them to talk about restructuring our deal, but had no luck as of date. Monumental Sports and Entertainment is an enterprise that showcases both sports organizations, the Verizon Center venue along with multiple other ones. Monumental has also started a broadcasting network which is relatively new. The Network utilizes the internet to distribute its content and provides fans with all news in DC sports. It currently does not broadcast Wizards or Capitals games. We have explored the option of broadcasting the games in house and through Monumental Network. Majority owner of Monumental and both teams, Ted Leonsis expects that Monumental Network could one day broadcast Caps and Wizards games, in addition to other local programming. My mom chose to homeschool my siblings and I because she was travel nurse, which caused us to move every year. When my sister and I was enrolled, the level of flexibility this program offered pleased my mom s concerns, while also providing rigorous courses and standards. My mother wanted my younger brothers to receive this type of education. However, in the following school year, new laws were set in place to restrict students from enrolling who were not already public school student. Seeing how this issue affected more than just my family, I decided to take action and figure out how to help solve this problem. • 10. Reggio Emili Curriculum Methods Techniques Curriculum Comparison Jessica Buschmann ECE 220: Curriculum Methods Techniques 7 February 2016 The Reggio Emilia approach originated in the town of Reggio Emilia in Italy. By the end of WWII, parents and educators in the city developed an educational system for young children. By the 1980s, many educators across the globe were choosing to use the Reggio Emilia method in the classroom. The Reggio Emilia approach is considered an in depth project that emerges from the children s intellectual curiosity, social interactions, and interests (p. 60). Teachers view themselves as partners in learning and encourage children to express their knowledge through language or modes of expression. Some examples of modes of expression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the Sociocultural theory and Reggio Emilia approach provide a learning environment by teaching basic principles of life and gaining experiences. The Reggio Emilia approach creates a caring community of learners through provocation; a challenge to think and wonder (p. 60). The teachers encourage the children to create projects based on their interests. For example, a well known Reggio project was created after a teacher purposely challenged the children to be creative. The project started from a life size giraffe puppet and ended with a portrait of the lion statues in the town plaza. Teachers use documentation to learn more about the children, curriculum planning, teacher development, and connecting with families and communities. This allows teachers to be more prepared and have the ability to enhance development and learning. The systematic study approach also helps assess the children s development needs and learning challenges. Teachers plan curriculums based on current interests, experiences and/or important goals the children want to achieve. Another main focus is documenting progress through photographs, transcriptions, and display for the children and family members to appreciate and examine. It helps establish a relationship with not only the children and their work, but also for the teachers and family members (p. 60). In 1907, Dr. Maria Montessori, opened the Casa dei ... While studying art history in Pre Industrial Visual Cultures this semester, one theme has become painfully obvious. There are few if any women artists included in the study of art history. If you dig deep into the books you can find mention of many unknown, unrecognized and often times very talented women artists from the past. Women in history are simply not recognized, and this is due to a large extent to their exclusion from the art world. My paper chooses to focus on a few female artists of the sixties and seventies who sought to make up for past history and ensure women were known. These women ... Along with this there are hundreds of other names and these include past women artists including Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt. The purpose of this piece was to show how many women from history are unrecognized and forgotten. These women have made lasting and powerful contributions to our society and yet they are essentially left out of history and overshadowed by their male counterparts. This was especially true in art history, and Chicago attempted to show how important it was that females have a place in history. Therefore the exclusion of women from history, had a profound impact on Chicago and greatly impacted her art making. The Dinner Partyî utilizes female sexual imagery to further establish a female presence in the work. The plates for ìThe Dinner Partyî clearly depict vaginal imagery. Chicago termed this imagery central core imagery and she attempted to invent a new female language. Chicago in an interview with Lucy Lippard says that, ìif women make art differently from men, it means that women are actually independent from menî (Lippard, 228). Her work was trying to eradicate the negative stereotypes people had about females and establish the importance of women both in the past and present. • 14. Racial Prejudice And Racial Discrimination During The 1920... A Colorblind America When people refer to America, they typically think of it as the melting pot in the center of the earth. However, for a country that prides itself in advocating freedom and equality for all, the United States has a long history of segregation and discrimination that has long affected present policy. It is clear that racial minorities have been targets of this racial bias for years, and even after slavery was abolished, African Americans continued to face the most racism due to the color of their skin. Thus, by looking at how John Franklin s life experience as a boy scout during the 1920 s illustrates a small peek into the history of race and ethnicity in America, we can see how racial hostility, and the Anglo Saxon view of a white American identity played a major role in defining the color line in American culture. Consequently, rather than enjoying equal liberties as did any other American citizen, African Americans faced many political, social, and economic discriminations that only proved that race was nothing more than a socially constructed product of hatred. Accordingly, in John Hope Franklin s oral history from storycorps.org, the late scholar of African American history, tells his son about his days as a boy scout during the 1920 s. At first, Franklin begins his story with the bright, enthusiastic attitude that he held as a young boy scout, who simply wanted to do a good deed. He then goes on to explain how he saw a woman with a cane who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Essay about We Wear the Mask Paul Laurence Dunbar, dispatches the cold troubles of African Americans in the lyrical poem, We Wear the Mask. In this poem, Dunbar links imagery, rhythm, rhyme, and word choice to in order to institute a connection to the reader. From reading the poem, one can infer that Mr. Dunbar is speaking in general, of the misery that many people keep concealed under a grin that they wear very well. But if one were to go further and take the time to research Mr. Dunbar s selection of this piece and the era of which this poem was written, one would come to understand that this poem focuses entirely on Paul Laurence Dunbar s viewpoints on racial prejudice and the struggle for equality for the African American s of his time period. Since it does, when reading each line, there is a resilient connection that allows the reader to put together and feel for what the narrator is speaking of. As each line is metrically linked, the words are further recited in a durable voice and the poem is virtually put together, musically. In the first and second lines of the third stanza, an apostrophe, a figure of speech that directly addresses an absent person or entity, is presented, We smile, but O great Christ, our cries to thee from tortured souls arise. Alliteration and metaphors are two major elements of this poem. The repetition of consonant sounds and alliteration occurs throughout the poem. All of the lines strongly use the repetition of consonants and alliteration except for lines two and seven. In addition to that, the controlling figure of speech in this poem is a metaphor. It is strongly articulated in the first line, and as the one continues to read, it is amplified and extended throughout the rest of the poem. The metaphor compares mask of Line 1 to the fabricated emotive facades that African Americans had made use of in order to avert provoking their oppressors. Ultimately, since Dunbar avoids specifically mentioning blacks and their suffering, with the history of this poem in mind, this poem could stand as a lament on behalf of all of the individuals who were forcefully made to wear a mask just as a girl who tries to hide her pregnancy from her parents, or as a boy who ... One such idea was Psychoanalysis, propagated by Dr. Sigmund Freud. Though a psychoanalytical interpretation can be applied to any novel after the fact, I believe Huxley used elements of the approach in the creation of his characters and plot. In this novel Huxley presents a dystopic society in which various scientific and psychological techniques are used to control people from their conception to their death. As a result the ego is diminished and people do not have to cope with conflicting emotions. This seems to create stability in society, or at least passivity. • 19. The Importance Of A Well Prepared Environment Maria Montessori inadvertently created an alternative to traditional schooling. She did this by allowing her pupils the opportunity to learn through action rather than repetition. Montessori had five main principles: respect for the child, sensitive periods, the prepared environment, auto education, and the teacher s role. In this paper I will discuss the prepared environment thoroughly and how a well prepared environment can positively affect each student in the 3 6 classroom. I will, in reflection, discuss the negative outcomes that may arise from an ill prepared classroom. Sensitive periods are blocks of time in a child s life when the child is absorbed with one characteristic of the environment to the exclusion of all others (Lillard, 1972, p.33). These sensitive periods are: a need for order, the use of the hand and tongue, the development of walking, a fascination with minute and detailed objects, and a time of intense social interest (Lillard, 1972, p.33). The first, and most prevalent in a classroom, of the sensitive periods is the need for order which begins within the first year of life. Rules and routine are important in a newborn s day; consistency is key to a happy baby (Knestrict, 2015). Rules and routine in a newborns day gives them the knowledge that their caretakers are able to be relied on. The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out. RELATIVISM ETHICS There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an attempt to cause Peter to realize that his own life is filled with emptiness and shallowness, Jerry tells Peter about the lives of some of the people in his boarding house. Albee is commenting that people need to foster their inner selves in addition to what they allow others to see on the outside. Another interesting piece of information that Jerry presents to Peter about the colored queen is that he always leaves the door open when he is plucking his eyebrows. Not only does this reinforce the fact that he is self absorbed and materialistic, but it tells something about the inside of his persona as well. The act of plucking one s eyebrows is quite painful, and the fact that he leaves his door open when committing this act of self mutilation reflects the idea that he wants society to be aware of his inner pain and strife. People are constantly looking for sympathy and for others to tell them that everything will be all right. The colored queen is no different. He wants people to be aware that he feels pain. Keeping his door open shows that he, like the rest society, is crying out for help, and wants to be noticed and cared for. While the colored queen represents the part of society that wallows in their own self pity, Albee points out through the use of other minor characters that there are other ways of avoiding pain, and dealing with that pain. The Puerto Rican family that lives in Jerry s building tries to escape pain instead of dealing with it or looking for help. Their method is avoidance. They avoid pain by constantly having fun.
