Blackfeet Indians Argumentative Essay
Generally when one thinks of the American west their mind jumps to an image of untouched,
unspoiled land, such as the land that is represented by America s national parks. These tourist
destinations in the West showcase the history of our nation s land in a way that many people assume is
and has always been the reality, but although the natural beauty of these lands is represented perhaps
the beauty of the cultures that used to inhabit them is not. The Blackfeet Indians once occupied a large
portion of what is now Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana, but as the Whiteman moved west and began to
modernize, this sacred land was invaded. As a result of this modernization the Blackfeet Indians were
forced to assimilate into the modern white society. This

Elizabeth Taylor, a True Hollywood Star
I ve been through it all, baby. I m Mother Courage. Elizabeth Taylor has been through the worst of it
with her numerous marriages and illnesses, but she toughed it out and kept pushing forward. Her I can
conquer the world attitude got her through all of the obstacles she faced. Elizabeth stayed in the
spotlight from the time she was nine years old until the day she died. Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was
a true, old fashioned Hollywood celebrity that overcame many hardships in her life. Elizabeth Taylor,
or Liz for short, was born February 27th, 1932 in Hampstead, London, England, UK to American
parents, Sara Warmbrodt and Francis Taylor. In 1939, Elizabeth and her mother, Sara, left Hampstead
and went to Los Angeles. Her father later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paparazzi flocked to her and reported her every move (Boman). She was known for her violet eyes,
pale skin, and most importantly, her multiple marriages. Liz was married eight times to seven different
men. Her most known marriage was to the actor, Richard Burton. The two stars met on the set of a
film they starred in together. Burton was instantly consumed by Elizabeth s beauty, but she felt
differently about him. She thought him to be rude and arrogant. The two were still married at the time.
Elizabeth soon fell victim, like many women before, to Richard s witty charm, and they began to have
an affair on the set of the film they were in. The crew covered for them with their spouses numerous
times (Monger). After a while, they allowed their relationship to become public, but the world was
against their relationship because of the issues it had. After Liz and Richard s spouses finally gave
them divorces, they were married in 1964. The couple faced hate from the public and problems within
their home, but they felt like they were truly made for one another. Ten years later, the two divorced.
Elizabeth had a health scare, and Richard realized that he couldn t live without her, and they remarried
in 1975. Like the first marriage, it failed, and they divorced months later. Although they were no
longer together, Elizabeth and Richard s love for each other still lived on. From the eight marriages,
Liz had four children. One of the many other things

that Elisa would not change her attitude is when she began to act pleasant with him. The narrator
states Elisa took off her gloves and stuffed them in the apron pocket with the scissors (Steinbeck 4).
Then, Elisa was changing her voice tone and she was demonstrating to the tinker that she needs
someone to love her. However, she demonstrates her weakness because she was acting confidently
with someone who did not know at all. They were having a comfortable conversation until he begins
to talk bad about her flower smell. When he states a bad comment of her flowers, she quickly reacts
and had the potential to deal with him. Elisa states It s a good bitter smell, she retorted, not nasty at all
(Steinbeck 5). After all he tried to solve the problem that he had with Elisa and told her of a woman he
knew on the road who likes chrysanthemums too. He began to explain that she had a flower garden;
but she didn t know how to grow chrysanthemum flowers. Then he convinced her to give some
chrysanthemum flowers to him. Elisa does not have the potential of changed because the tinker
manipulated her with the story of the woman of the chrysanthemum. However, he manipulated her
because he wanted something to fix because he wanted money or something to eat. Elisa found two
pans in the back of the house. And she gave the two pans to him for fix it and the tinker begins fixed

Miscegenation In Othello Essay
In verifying how these attitudes pervade the play itself, Newman points out that fear of miscegenation
functions on two levels. Firstly Shakespeare uses the white man s fear of the union of black man and
white women (144) to generate the plot, and secondly through the binary opposition of black and
white characteristic of the plays discourse. To substantiate she quotes from the play: Black ram tups
white ewe and O, the more angel she, And you the blacker devil. The last line illustrates what
Newman terms rhetorical miscegenation. Outlining the frequency with which black and white were
used to denote polarization during the Renaissance, (145) she comments on how the emphasis in
Othello of Desdemona as the idealisation of fair female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, by her own account, her reading is also political in that it exposes the ideological
discourses which organise the text. She comments that poststructuralist approaches highlight that even
highly formalist readings are political, inscribed in the discourses both of the period in which the work
was produced and of those in which it is consumed. Newman references Derrida s work on racism and
in addition to employing deconstructionist discourse his influence can be seen in Newman s design.
Recognizing the binary opposition denoted by the polarization of Othello s blackness and Desdemona
s whiteness , Newman develops this to assimilate the implied opposition of monstrosity or
miscegenation represented by Othello and femininity represented by Desdemona. Deconstructive
discourse incorporates the notion that difference exists both between signified and signifier, and at the
same time that the signified defers meaning to the signifier. The role of the literary critic is seen as
seeking a slippage in the text, thereby denoting duplicity and revealing how the internal linguistic and
thematic rules are inexact. Newman finds this critical slippage in both Rymers Short view of Tragedy
(1693) and again in Ridley s criticism 250yrs later, to be the lapse from blackness to femininity.

Circuit City Business Failure
Circuit City was first established in 1949 under the name of Wards Company in Richmond, Virginia
by Sam Wurtzel. What started out as a little storefront would later flourish into a national chain of
superstores retailing electronics and appliances. Interesting enough, this retail giant would eventually
close its doors and become known to many as one of American retailing s great failures (Romero,
2013, p. 31). The thought that this small Richmond based retailer would soon become a great success
only to later end up as one of America s great retail failure. Wurtzel was an entrepreneur from New
York. He was on his way to North Carolina on vacation, when he stopped in Richmond, Virginia to get
a haircut. During a conversation between Wurtzel and the barber, he was told that the first television
station had just opened less than a year ago in Richmond. Wurtzel, being an entrepreneur that he was,

adding discount stores. But, in 1975, taking on expansion too quickly almost caused the company to
file bankruptcy. To prevent going bankrupt, the company decided to scale back on the number of
unprofitable outlets by closing or selling them. Then in the late 70 s the business began to make a
comeback. It grew rapidly so much so that the company had fifty three superstore by 1983 and thirty
seven smaller electronic stores (Romero, 2013, p. 32). According to Hart, Matulich, Rubinsak, Sheffer,

Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet
The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play
the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his
interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play
are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger
idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the
film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed
by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that
sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the
King and for what reason. When the actors perform the play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins
the actor on stage and begins to yell while looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling
towards Claudius in rage he exclaims, You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago
s wife. While yelling towards Claudius, the camera switched between the two six times during the
span of 3 seconds. This is to allow the film audience to recognize the negative and damning effects
Hamlet s words are causing towards Claudius. As Hamlet is looking into the eyes of Claudius, Hamlet
yells the word murderer , the zoom and jump cuts are very

Four Pieces For Timpani Essay
Music has always been part of our daily lives, rooted in our culture and contributing to our
development. Listening to and playing music allows us to experience a wide range of emotions
including pleasure, joy, sadness, angst etc; it touches us at a subconscious level and influences life
changing experiences. In my opinion the rhythms used in music are comparable to the rhythms in our
speech and communication. In this paper, the link between rhythms and speech will be identified
using the rhythmic qualities of the following pieces: Earth Dance by Bill Douglas; The Recital Snare
Drum Suite by William
J. Schinstine and Four Pieces for Timpani by John Bergamo as a medium to do so.

I believe that in the name of the piece itself there is a deeper meaning. If we look at the name Four
Pieces FOR Timpani with the emphasis on the word FOR , this implies that he didn t intentionally
compose the piece for an audience but for each Timpano by its self. He named the first movement,
Recitative. Recitative according to the oxford dictionary means, A musical declamation of the kind
usually in the narrative and dialogue parts of Operas, sung in the rhythms of ordinary speech with
many words on the same note. So by taking this definition into consideration, the way he composed
and structured the first movement shows a dialog between each drum. A lot of the rhythmic groups are
usually started on one drum and eventually moves to the other drums as if it were a call and answer.
Human beings as I mentioned earlier speaks within a rhythm or rhythmic structure, this can me seen
using the concept of Audiation, some examples are as follows using groupings that are present in the
piece;
*Triplets Beautiful
*Sixteenth notes Peanut Butter
*Quintuplets Hippopotamus
*Eight notes

you that just tuned in, we are here today with Luan, a brilliant undergrad student from Salem State
University and he is going to talk to us about this new and upcoming research project that he is
conducting on phobias. PHOBIAS!!! WOOOO!!! Pretty spooky, right? And with Halloween just
around the corner, you couldn t have picked a better timing for it.
Luan: Haha I know, right!? It seemed like the perfect timing for it.
Maddy: So tell me about this project of yours; what is it exactly?
Luan: Well one of my courses required students to pick a topic that really interested them to write
about during the semester. It s going to be a pretty long project, so the topic was really important. I
wanted to write and explore about something that was intriguing yet feasible and phobias really hit the
sweet spot. Not to mention that I always have been fascinated by them...
Maddy: Yeah, it really is a great topic. Now I know that people link phobias with fear. Is that really
what a phobia is? Just fear?
Luan: A lot of people think that Maddy. But according to the American Psychology Association, all
phobias are anxiety disorders, lumped in the same class as post traumatic stress disorder and panic
disorder, among others. And anxiety disorders are, fundamentally, based on fear. But this does not
mean that phobias equal fear.

Effects Of Morality And Morality
Memory Effects on Ethics and Morality
Introduction
Memory is one of the essential components of a human being. It affects almost all the aspects human
behavior. Ethics and morality are part of two contemporary factors that affect the human memory and
the subsequent actions in the social domain. It seems that people have lowered morals in the phase of
everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical mountain in most situations. In
most sectors of the public operation, you find that most of the problems that are presented there or are
linked to lack proper ethics and morality. Well as the action of the population says that morality is
relative and not absolute, I always believe that that there should be a bar of reference. Additionally, the
reason why I considered the topic is due to the divergent discussion that comes with it in any given
forum of discussion. The most critical epithet in the topic is its need of reinforcement into the society.
Talking about this topic will open avenues for more vibrant and genuine views on the topic. For this
paper, I will analyze two articles on morality and ethics from the psychology today website.

Robert Irwin s Excerpt From Islamic Art
In Robert Irwin s excerpt from Islamic Art in Context, Irwin outlines why he believes that the
Muslims of this medieval era in Islamic art would have looked at many of the arts, such as painting,
sculpture, and the decorative arts, with distaste. He clarifies what Muslims at the time believed about
the depiction of living things, how that belief evolved, and why; claiming that the issue of the non
representational nature of Islamic art is not as clear cut as people often assume. As for how this
excerpt compares to what was shown in the lectures, there is a similar lack of living creatures that are
depicted in the art. Irwin looks more closely at the line between what is a depiction of a living
creature, however, which was not specifically covered in the class lectures about Islamic art. The
defining line between what is acceptable and what is not in Islamic art is very blurry, and Irwin
explains some of the grey area citing both the Koran and hadiths, as interpreted by various religious
scholars, as well as some other writers that were known at the time. He starts by citing the Koran,
which is a sacred Islamic book written by the Prophet Muhammed, in where the translation is
disputed; it could mean that you are to avoid paintings, as they are Satan s work, or it could mean to
avoid idols, which in context most likely refers to pagan idols, which he shows an example of a
Persian miniature that shows the destroying of an idol. Hadiths were also used to help illustrate his

Analysis of Dance Styles
For centuries peoples have been dancing as an art form that allows them to physically express
themselves without using words. These are times when simple dignity of movement can fulfill the
function of a volume of words (Humphrey, 1937). A great deal can be understood when a person
watches a person dances. The message that is related is strong and clear. When you understand the
types of dance the message is clear. I will attempt to examine the different forms of dance. We will
look at the forms of dance like Ballet, Modern World/Ritual, Folk, and jazz. Never the less it helps
construct a better understanding of the different forms.

women are unique when they dance they represent grace and puberty of a female. The dancers form a
line and begin to dance as they enter the stage from both sides forming a single line stepping and
clapping to the beat of the drums. In addition as they step to the music they step in rhythm and clap,
gesture to convey the message to the audience. For centuries cultures have danced in many forms to
symbolize a prayer for rain or fertility. These dances are ritual dances. Sampi is a ritual dance done in
Belize the symbolize fertility by jumping instead of flat footed dance. With any ritual they all begin as
one person speaks to the audience and dedicates the ceremony thus many follows after that

hopes to create and bless the families and others with great fertility and the healthy birth of a child
with any family. There is no known evidence that proves that these types of rituals work but people
continue to partake in the rituals.
Folk Dance For centuries folk dancing has been around since the beginning of time. Natural
spontaneous behavior and festive occasions have been sources of song, music, and dance since time

Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock Essay...
Anne Finch s Opposition to The Rape of the Lock
The Restoration Period (1660 1700) was a period of social, political and philosophical turmoil, which
laid the foundation for future centuries. This period was marked by an advance in colonization and
trade and by the birth of the Whig and Tory parties. In poetry, works of Alexander Pope and Anne
Finch and a number of other poets distinguishes the Restoration. But, there are several objections from
these poets; one particular opposition occurs between Pope s The Rape of the Lock and Anne Finch.
Pope was born into a Catholic family during a period of intense anti Catholic sentiment in England.

The events that Pope describes in this poem occur between Belinda, who is motivated by pride and
vanity and Baron, who is driven by ambition. Belinda s energy is driven to attract a man and pretend
to be affectionate and then cast him off for another. Baron oversteps his boundaries of acceptable
behavior by acting with force toward the desirable woman. The Rape of the Lock is both a scornful
description of a ridiculous social situation and a serious analysis of consequences of flattering self
esteem and desire. The Rape of the Lock is a staple of neoclassical writing; it includes wit and wit is
characterized by parallelism and balance. It contains epic conventions such as war (between the
sexes), epic game (played on the velvet plain of the card table), a journey (to the underworld), and
battle. Pope writes by describing the man as the hero. But Finch writes her poetry in regards to
women. When Anne Finch wrote, she followed a particularly intellectual course, not only for women
but also for anyone at the time. She wrote about philosophy; her philosophical work had another
important source: her own physical pain. She was concerned to provide theodicy for her writers. She
attempted to reunite the existence of a compassionate or benign god with the existence of suffering

the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a
human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse
across the neuron releasing dopamine transmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the
neurotransmitter binds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately after
the human is filled with joy and pleasure. This explains how (especially in addicts) the site of things
can cause pleasure and affect human behavior in a positive way. Contradicting this however if there is
a problem or lack of dopamine, the human will have feelings ... Show more content on

Historically disgust would have allowed human ancestors to survive long and produce strong offspring
because they would avoid harmful or rancid food or animals. Because of this, similar genes would
have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust has become an
acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In this cases study
Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe from harm. In order to
best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an online survey were given
different images and asked to rank them on the scale system of disgust. This study discovered that
women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of disgust compared to that of women
in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study was controlled more greatly it was
found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of food. This study helps supports disgust
being an evolutionary trait passed on by humans because it helps young offspring fight potential
disease as well as assist in the reproduction of offspring for having a greater survival chance.Within
biological psychology, one of the primary principle states that there are biological correlates on
behavior. By this, there are genetically acquired behavioral traits such as hormones and
neurotransmitters that explains why humans have particular behaviors. One case study that helps to
prove this theory is newcomer et al 1999. In this study participants were broken up into three groups,
group one given the highest amount of cortisol had tablets that were 160 mg of cortisol for four days.
Following this was group two who were given 40 mg of cortisol for also for 4 days, and lastly group
three was given a placebo tablet. Cortisol is a

Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of...
When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read this
semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of
Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself perfectly to a
close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in Blake s volumes,
Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience versions) demonstrated this
duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same, however, the nature of the subject is
drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem
titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday. This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in
London, which was held on the first Thursday in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special
service was held for the poorest children in London. These children would be brought to the church by
their parish officers, serving approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this
procession of children to the cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes
towards the event itself. These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in
content to two drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a
picture of a bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the

When Was Wilma Rudolph Born
Wilma Rudolph became a very influential sprinter after overcoming many obstacles. Wilma was born
prematurely on June 23, 1940, in Bethlehem, Tennessee. Her family was a poor African American
family and Wilma was the fourteenth child out of nineteen children. Her father, Ed Rudolph, worked
as a railroad porter, and her mother, Blanche Rudolph, worked six days a week as a maid. At four
years old, Wilma contracted polio, which severely weakened her. At the time, there was no cure or
treatment. She suffered double pneumonia and scarlett fever during that time, and it almost killed her.
She pulled through, but her left leg was paralyzed from the polio. Specialists from Nashville
recommended therapeutic massages, which would hopefully help to regain

Teaching And Learning Language At Early Ages
Introducing English as a Second Language to Early Primary School Curriculum in Saudi Arabia
Candidacy Exam Salwa Alkhuzay @02686337 znzr@iup.edu solly440@gmail.com 412 706 1122
Abstract Teaching and learning language at early ages is easier than learning it at older ages as
Chiswick Miller, (2007) emphasized in their study that proficiency in spoken English decreases with
age. With that notion in mind, it comes as a surprise that the English language is introduced so late in
the public school education curriculum in Saudi Arabia. Over the years as more Saudi students leave
their home countries to study in English speaking countries, the demand for English speaking skills
that are beyond just being conversation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many countries non native English speakers are introduced of English as a foreign language in
public schools as a required subject beginning in early primary schools. In Saudi Arabia, in 1927 the
English language was introduced at the secondary schools without a specific syllabus. In 1953,
teaching English language was introduced at intermediate and secondary schools with a specific
syllabus (Al Subahi, 1989). For many years in Saudi education curriculums English courses were
compulsory and started from middle school up to secondary public schools, the students ages from 11
or 12 attended intermediate level and at age 18 finish secondary level. Nevertheless, private schools in
Saudi Arabia start teaching English as a foreign language from first grade onward, however, there are
a lot of students who still find mastering English very difficult, and their performance is still weak. I
certainly regret that this is the case; looking back over our schools I believe they should inspire the
students early about the importance of learning English language for the sake of their future. In short,
learning foreign languages not just for giving ways to communicate with people in other countries, has
become important for those who want to study and get a degree or who want a good job in other
countries such as United States, British, or Australia. Teaching English language to Saudi children will

Miriam Ferguson Research Paper
Miriam Amanda Wallace Ma Ferguson (1875 1961), first woman governor of Texas, daughter of
Joseph L. and Eliza (Garrison) Wallace, was born in Bell County, Texas, on June 13, 1875. She went
to Salado College and Baylor Female College at Belton. In 1899, at the age of 24, she married James
Edward Ferguson, as well of Bell County. Mrs. Ferguson served as the first lady of Texas during the
gubernatorial terms of her husband (1915 17), who was challenged during his 2nd administration.
When James Ferguson failed to get his name on the ballot in 1924, Miriam entered the race for the

However, after the Texas Supreme Court again rejected her husband s petition to place his name on the
ballot in 1930, she entered the gubernatorial race. In the May primary she led Ross Sterling, who then
defeated her in the August runoff. Her defeat proved fortuitous politically because Sterling, rather than
she, was blamed by the voters when Texas began to feel the full impact of the Great Depression. In
February 1932 she again declared for the governorship; she promised to lower taxes and cut state
expenditures, and condemned alleged waste, graft, and political favoritism by the Sterling controlled
highway commission. After leading Sterling in the May primary by over one hundred thousand votes,
Ma Ferguson barely won the Democratic nomination in the August primary. She then defeated the
Republican nominee, Orville Bullington, in November to secure her 2nd term as governor. Her second
administration did not engender as much controversy as the first, despite dire predictions to the
contrary by her political opponents. The fiscally conservative governor held the line on state
expenditures and even advocated a state sales tax and corporate income tax, although the state
legislature did not act on these proposals. Mrs. Ferguson continued her liberal pardoning and parole
policies, but even that action did not stir as much controversy as in her first administration since every

The During The Age Of Reformation Essay
During the Age of Reformation people were greatly against the abuses that existed in the Roman
Catholic Church. A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences,
simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin
Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of
meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Church was the selling of indulgences by
the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves and
their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment due to
sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of selling of
Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to the highest
bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A last abuse of the
Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members instead of giving it to more
qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained and dedicated worker was
needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote an indictment of the abuses
of the Roman Catholic Church called the 95 Theses, he appealed to many people across Europe. In his
indictment he greatly criticized and addressed the selling of indulgences above all. At first, a person

A Bugs Life Sociological Analysis
A Bugs life is a Disney Pixar animated film which involves Ants and other bugs coming together to
fight the Grasshoppers. Hopper is the dominant male grasshopper character and in the film states that
he wants to keep the ants in line and doesn t care about the food (Bugs Life 1998). In Bug s Life the
relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed in terms of the
theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883).
Marx first stated that because of the economic growth in Europe it turned most people in to capitalists
(Sociology, 2012). Therefore Marx divided capitalism into two separate classes. One being the class
that owned the means of production for example the owners of the factories. This class were also

Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology,
2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which
dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their
lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were
split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being
alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how
they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the
Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away
from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation
which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect
food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another.
The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human
potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which
helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human

Outsourcing American Jobs Essay
Introduction Outsourcing of American jobs overseas is displacing American s in the United States.
American blue collar workers and the Middle Class American will soon be a word of the past if the
US government continues outsourcing the low skill jobs overseas.
One of the concerns in regards to the outsourcing of jobs is that wages of American jobs versus the
wages of the Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Philippians are much less. If these workers were using
the same identical technology and having the same identical skills were paid the same wages, there
would be no problem. (Greene, 2006) It s also believed that if the US continues to trade freely with the
overseas countries then the powerful drag of their far lower wages will ... Show more content on

It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which
views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise of
outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently than can
internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in producing and
delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of scale may contribute to
this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a long term or short term need
exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees, temporary workers are hired. In this
case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary resources except the workers, who are
provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor has full responsibility for delivering the
service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison.
The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications of
global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. Many people are
pessimistic about the impact of offshore outsourcing at a time when American workers are having
more difficulty finding employment, since it creates personal hardships, reduces the tax base and
increases demands on our safety nets. Competitors from lower wage nations, it is feared, could put

The Absurd Geniuses Of All Time
Samuel Beckett, regarded as one of the best Theater of the Absurd geniuses of all time, is an Irish
playwright and director of the avant garde. Living in Paris France for the majority of his life, he wrote
in both English and French. Using bleak and hopeless themes, his works depict a harsh attack on
realism and challenge the very meaning of life. Beckett s works opened the world of theater to many
interesting possibilities in drama and fiction. He introduced to theater and novel the idea that the
existence of human life is absurd, an idea that is prominent in his writings. Born and raised in Ireland,
he excelled in his education at Dublin University and Campbell College before moving to Paris in
1928. Here he was introduced to the profound Irish author, James Joyce, who is regarded as one of the
most influential and important authors of the 20th century. Beckett and Joyce assisted in each other s
writings, including the book, Finnegans Wake (1939). Finnegans Wake shows some of Beckett s
darkness with its themes of sin interpreted in a dreamlike state. This book also inspired Beckett s more
comedic approach to the dark and depressing themes in most of his works. Assumption (1929), written
by Beckett, was his first of many stories. Consisting of various themes of human nature and Irish
folklore, this story was the first of many that could be considered as difficult to understand or just
gibberish, due to its syntax being strained to incomprehensibility. The story contains

Persecution Of The Puritans
During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists , were
members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England under
Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along with
censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to instill
their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan persecution
states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through religion, to
wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to discover God s will
for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant variation of the
Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often disputed. The most
popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans could not be maintained
and thus escaped. Other people are entertained by the thought that the Puritans had been banished but
in result, had only a sole thought in mind to reform human civilization through religion somewhere
else, as stated in the blog above. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

keeping in mind the second learning objective in order to execute Julio s story properly. We ve taken
great pains to ensure that we keep Conquergood s theory of dialogic performance in mind. Since we
are committing to the piece and understanding Julio s story, we are not in danger of falling into the
Skeptic s Cop out or the Custodian s Rip Off (Conquergood, 1985, pg. 5). We have to ensure that we
balance the idea of being enthusiastic to portray him realistically and to show Julio s story, while
trying to not portray Julio as a fascinating story that is represented as a freak show (Conquergood,

Taking a Look at the Castellammarese War
The Castellammarese war was based in Castellammarese del Golfo, Sicily. The name
Castellammarese refers to immigrants from the town of Castellammare del Golfo in Western Sicily.
This war a power struggle for control of the Italian American Mafia between partisan and Joe

1930 to April 15th, 1931. The Castellammarse war was between the forces of Masseria and
Maranzano. Tensions between the two were evident as far back as 1928, with one side frequently
hijacking the other s alcohol trucks. Both sided were fluid, with many mobsters switching sides or
killed their own allies during the war. Don Vito Ferro made a bid for control of the Mafia operation in
the United States. He sent Salvatore Maranzano to seize control. In the 1920s the United States Mafia
operations were controlled by Giuseppe Joe The Boss Masseria, whose faction consisted mainly of
gangsters from Sicily, and the Calabria and Campania regions of Southern Italy. Masseria s faction
consisted well know gangsters such as Charles Lucky Luciano, Albert Mad Hatter Anastasia, Vito

Robert Lee Frost Analysis
Robert Lee Frost was conceived in San Francisco, March 26. He was one of America s premier
twentieth century writers and won the Pulitzer Prize four times. In spite of the fact that his verse
shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the wonderful
utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His work is full of nature
and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems that I will be working
with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening . In the poems Road not
taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frost explains that both depict how to take
choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in that will affect his life
forever.
In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where the road
is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate of his life.
The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he can t choose
both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to seniority moving
toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live with for the rest of his
life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the truth, it s an ideal opportunity to
say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other, as just as fair and having perhaps the
better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is
still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both roads strike as comparative, with no apparent
difference. As a result, his absence of activity and uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay.
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet
endeavors to persuade himself with little achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself
that if one road ends up being unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick
the other road. In any case, looking back, he s completely mindful that his decision will impact him in
his later years

The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary
The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the
methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social
science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch
analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than
individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of
the social science practices and the nature of human beings.
The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science.
The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the
strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book.
The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the
social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably
ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16).
The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. Holism implies that
human beings are morally responsible for what they do and the most valued forms of political
organisation are determined socially and thus rest on illusion (Hollis, 2011, p.107). The concept of
individualism is defined from social

this mineral water could be consumed as a health preserving beverage and to bathe in this water
brought relief to those who suffered from many diseases. The curative properties of the waters for
rheumatism and kidney diseases were thoroughly tested and approved by the time the hotel was built.
The idea for this hotel came about because of Reverend J. F. Schierbaum s wife. She was an invalid.
She tried the remedies of the best doctors in St. Louis, but failed to get relief. Then trying the waters

An Analysis Of Theodora And Attendants And Akhenaton,...
The theme of the two art works, Theodora and Attendants, and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three
Daughters, is Political Authority. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history, and
is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the time and
is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are ruling. Art
has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these pieces reveals
that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these cultures are also
heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three
Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and influence their subjects.
Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarna period in 18th dynasty ancient Egypt,
which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in ancient Egypt was vastly different
from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton himself. The religion of the time was
also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion instead of a polytheistic one, where
everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented here by the sun who is soaking them in
life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing Aton. Pictured in this work is the Pharaoh

companies and won. The states were paid $206 billion dollars to offset the costs for treating those who
have been harmed by tobacco products. These lawsuits led to tobacco companies regulating the
industry more and providing public health campaigns warning about the negative effects tobacco
products can have (Aliprandini and Walter 1). The last influential case for tort litigation is the Dalkon
Shield lawsuit. The Dalkon Shield is a birth control device that caused harm to those who used it.
There were so many claims that the company declared bankruptcy. (Although it was later revealed that
the company was not bankrupt but declared it to quit paying claims.) These lawsuits led to the
Medical Device Amendment. This amendment states that all medical devices need to be tested and
approved by the Food and Drug Administration before being sold to the public (Aliprandini and

Raising The Driving Age
The driving age should resume to stay at 16, because high school is the time you need to start learning
how to be independent as a young adult. This teaches the young adults at an early age, really big
responsibilities that they will need to learn also in the long run. There will be times that you won t
have anyone to drive you to a certain place that you need to be based on circumstances. By the time
you are 18, you are considered an adult by then. If you are just learning to drive, how are you suppose
to be comfortable going places without being afraid to be in an accident or cause an accident, because
you never drove before? Raising the driving age won t save lives. It s inexperience, not age, that
causes accidents. Raising the driving

Lucretius And Aquinas
Something rather than nothing refers to the cosmological argument for the existence of God claiming
that all things in nature; something are dependent on something else for their existence. As Lucretius
puts it in his first book De Rerum Natura, by observing nature and her laws...her first principle: that
nothing s brought forth by any supernatural power out of naught hence we arrive at nihil fit ex nihilo
nothing comes from nothing
Therefore, this something must have caused. It would however be insufficient to just give an
explanation which contradicts itself because it then becomes falsifiable. God has been the result of
many of these inquiries however the reasoning to this answer follows many various roots. One

Leibniz and Aquinas adopt the view of contingency to explain the sufficient reason of something
rather than nothing . To Hume s fallacy of composition; which asserts that just because parts of a thing
is caused by one thing, it is a mistake to believe the whole is created in the same way, it is only a
matter of having one simple substance that makes up the whole thing. Let s take for example a car
which has different parts, made by different people; the wheel, the seats the doors etc. when each part
is broken down into the simplest form in any form of matter, it is still an atom with sub atomic
particles. Leibniz s attempt to use contingency to suggest a cosmological argument is

Socrates said that the best approach to pick up a decent notoriety is to attempt to be what you craving
to show up. It is imperative to note that he recognizes that individuals quality esteems in light of
acting as per goals. At the end of the day, individuals judge in light of the effect of activities, and not
aims. It is impossible that anybody (individual or organization) can really accomplish flawlessness.
The best case is that while remote conduct or moves make put, they will probably be seen as
abnormalities as opposed to symptomatic of a more prominent and negative truth. The lessons for
enterprises are unmistakably transferable. An organization that is seen as a positive and ideal
individual from the group is probably going to have less restriction, and when as is practically

business, an unmistakable case can be made that reputational capital, is a venture, worked after some

Seligman s Theory Of Optimism
Notwithstanding the numerous advantages of pessimism, proven by studies, society continues to
condemn it. This is particularly due to the fact that optimism is viewed as more superior, compared to
pessimism. Author, Jon Gordon, reports, Whether we feed ourselves each day with negative fuel or
positive fuel ... our optimism has a big impact on our day (Gordon). Gordon conveys the fact that,
ultimately, optimism determines success, not pessimism. Additionally, Adam Sinicki, a psychology
graduate, comments that remaining optimistic during strenuous times will help alleviate the situation
because an individual is believing that matters will only mend (Sinicki). While there may be research
to support these claims, the truth is, they fail to shed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, what happens when there is too much hope, or cheerfulness is enforced among individuals?
Believe it or not, a forced and inordinate amount of optimism can be cataclysmic. As aforementioned,
Seligman s theory of learned optimism, the belief that optimism can be inculcated through the
avoidance of pessimistic reflections, optimism has afflicted the military in a negative manner.
Psychiatrist, Keith Ablow states that the armed services psychological stance is now influenced by ...
learned optimism wherein soldiers are actually taught to deny stress and trauma, and false bravado is
actually encouraged... (Ablow). In a The New Yorker article, Maria Konnikova writes, learned
helplessness [learned optimism] can indeed be a severe form of torture. The inability to control one s
environment has repeatedly been shown to create not only anger and frustration but, eventually, deep
and often insurmountable depression (Konnikova). United States Sergeant Robert Bales story is one of
many of how a forced and abundant amount of optimism has negatively affected the military. Bales
had been deployed to Iraq multiple times, one of which he had suffered a traumatic head injury. While
on a deployment, Bales killed 16 civilians in Afghanistan. Reports show that Bales was showing
psychiatric symptoms, prior to the massacre, but Ablow quarrels that the philosophical belief, learned
optimism, should be the one to blame (Ablow). When society pressurizes optimism upon people
during stressful times, it merely induces for more disputes and obstacles. Similar to Konnikova s
statement, if a person is already experiencing arduous sensations, obliging optimism only creates false
impressions, and that is the allure of pessimism. Pessimism does not necessarily always mean being
blunt or straightforward during fraught times, but possessing the ability to be

Indian Names And Mascots Essay
There has been an ongoing argument since the 1960 s on whether Indian names and mascots should be
used in sports. Critics feel that the use of Indian related images and names make fun of the Native
American Indians. On the other hand, activists for the Indian tribes state that the use of Indian names

essay is to determine if schools should stop using Native American images as mascots. The newspaper
article called Controversy over Indian names, mascots in sports dated June 10, 2009 talks about two
teams, the Florida State Seminoles and the Washington Redskins. The NCAA (National Collegiate
Athletic Association) tried to get rid of the name Seminoles from the Florida State University football
team. But, the Seminole Chief himself, approved the use of Native American symbols and traditions
during the Florida state football games. There has also been a lot of support for the Washington
Redskins name to remain in use. Mike Richman, author of The Redskins Encyclopedia stated that the
name Redskins coincided with the hiring of a new coach, an Indian named Lone Star Dietz. Dietz

The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University
On Losing Everything
This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town, not
only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing up in
southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s notice.
Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals alike.
Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of that
wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close knit community, named St. Amant, about an
hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family experienced a loss greater
than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but not
all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost
strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from
school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in
Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back
state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les Bon Temps rouler,
or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan s as not caring
about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting much less than
what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California have been through
many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life for a small
earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we possibly
could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might not even
happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our
emergency savings. Nevertheless, we had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if
necessary. From my memories, about a week

The Power of Money in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby
The Power of Money in The Great Gatsby
Ex President Jimmy Carter knows both the power and the limitations of money. He is also aware that
the acquisition of money or material wealth is not a worthwhile goal. This was made clear in his
speech to the American people when he stated: Our great cities and our mighty buildings will avail us
not if we lack spiritual strength to subdue mere objects to the higher purposes of humanity
(Harnsberger 14). In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the author clearly illustrates that
Jay Gatsby does not understand the limitations of the power of money. Gatsby believes that money
can recreate the past, buy him happiness, and allow him to climb the social ladder in the prominent

The shirts and clothes that are ordered every spring and fall show his simpleness in expressing his
wealth to his beloved Daisy. His beautiful shirts . . . It makes me sad because I ve never seen such
beautiful shirts before (Fitzgerald 98). It seems silly to cry over simple shirts, but It is not the shirts
themselves that overwhelm her but what they symbolize . . . (Cowley 43). These shirts represent the
simple awesome manner of Gatsby s wealth and his ability to try and purchase Daisy s love, this time
through the use of extensive clothing. Fitzgerald wisely shows how Gatsby uses his riches to buy
Daisy. In the story, we know that They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things .
. . and then returned back into their money (Fitzgerald). By this, we know that Daisy s main (and
maybe only) concern is money. Gatsby realizes this, and is powered by this. He is driven to extensive
and sometimes illegal actions. He feels he must be rich and careless for his five year love, and when
expressing Gatsby s readiness to spend any amount of money for his hopeful wife, a poem must be
stated. Then wear the gold hat, if that move her; If you can bounce high, bounce for her too, Till she
cry Lover, gold hatted, high bouncing lover, I must have you! ( ). This poem is a perfect description of
how Gatsby tries to buy Daisy, and her love. All these enlighten us to Gatsby s personality, therefore
we know Gatsby is willing to use an unlimited source

The Temple Of Divus Augustus
Zackary Marion
Miss. Jackson
World History
27 October 2015
The Temple of Divus Augustus was a major temple originally built to commemorate the first Roman
emperor, Augustus. The temple was built between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, and behind the
Basilica Julia. The temple was built on the site of the house where Augustus inhabited before he
entered the public life around the mid 1st century BC. It is known from Roman currency that his
temple was originally built to a hexagon style design. The size, physical proportions and exact site are
unknown. Provincial temples of Augustus, like the smaller Temple of Augustus in Pula, now in
Croatia, had already been constructed during his lifetime. Most likely because of the popular
resistance to the notion Augustus was not officially adored in Rome until after his death. That s also
when a temple at Nola in Campania, (where he died), seems to have been begun. After that multiple
temples were dedicated to him all over the Roman Empire.
Temple of Divus Augustus. Https://en.wikipedia.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Oct. 2015.
The construction of the temple took place during the 1st century AD. Having been vowed by the
Roman Senate shortly after the death of the emperor in 14 AD. Ancient sources disagree on whether it
was constructed by Augustus s successor Tiberius and Augustus s widow Livia or by Tiberius alone. It
wasn t until after the death of Tiberius in 37AD that the temple was finally completed and dedicated
by his successor

Blackfeet Indians Argumentative Essay Generally when one thinks of the American west their mind jumps to an image of untouched, unspoiled land, such as the land that is represented by America s national parks. Burton was instantly consumed by Elizabeth s beauty, but she felt differently about him. She thought him to be rude and arrogant. The two were still married at the time. Elizabeth soon fell victim, like many women before, to Richard s witty charm, and they began to have an affair on the set of the film they were in. The crew covered for them with their spouses numerous times (Monger). After a while, they allowed their relationship to become public, but the world was against their relationship because of the issues it had. After Liz and Richard s spouses finally gave them divorces, they were married in 1964. The couple faced hate from the public and problems within their home, but they felt like they were truly made for one another. Ten years later, the two divorced. Elizabeth had a health scare, and Richard realized that he couldn t live without her, and they remarried in 1975. Like the first marriage, it failed, and they divorced months later. • 5. Miscegenation In Othello Essay In verifying how these attitudes pervade the play itself, Newman points out that fear of miscegenation functions on two levels. Firstly Shakespeare uses the white man s fear of the union of black man and white women (144) to generate the plot, and secondly through the binary opposition of black and white characteristic of the plays discourse. To substantiate she quotes from the play: Black ram tups white ewe and O, the more angel she, And you the blacker devil. The last line illustrates what Newman terms rhetorical miscegenation. Outlining the frequency with which black and white were used to denote polarization during the Renaissance, (145) she comments on how the emphasis in Othello of Desdemona as the idealisation of fair female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, by her own account, her reading is also political in that it exposes the ideological discourses which organise the text. She comments that poststructuralist approaches highlight that even highly formalist readings are political, inscribed in the discourses both of the period in which the work was produced and of those in which it is consumed. Newman references Derrida s work on racism and in addition to employing deconstructionist discourse his influence can be seen in Newman s design. Recognizing the binary opposition denoted by the polarization of Othello s blackness and Desdemona s whiteness , Newman develops this to assimilate the implied opposition of monstrosity or miscegenation represented by Othello and femininity represented by Desdemona. Deconstructive discourse incorporates the notion that difference exists both between signified and signifier, and at the same time that the signified defers meaning to the signifier. The role of the literary critic is seen as seeking a slippage in the text, thereby denoting duplicity and revealing how the internal linguistic and thematic rules are inexact. Newman finds this critical slippage in both Rymers Short view of Tragedy (1693) and again in Ridley s criticism 250yrs later, to be the lapse from blackness to femininity. ... The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the King and for what reason. Robert Irwin s Excerpt From Islamic Art In Robert Irwin s excerpt from Islamic Art in Context, Irwin outlines why he believes that the Muslims of this medieval era in Islamic art would have looked at many of the arts, such as painting, sculpture, and the decorative arts, with distaste. He clarifies what Muslims at the time believed about the depiction of living things, how that belief evolved, and why; claiming that the issue of the non representational nature of Islamic art is not as clear cut as people often assume. As for how this excerpt compares to what was shown in the lectures, there is a similar lack of living creatures that are depicted in the art. Irwin looks more closely at the line between what is a depiction of a living creature, however, which was not specifically covered in the class lectures about Islamic art. The defining line between what is acceptable and what is not in Islamic art is very blurry, and Irwin explains some of the grey area citing both the Koran and hadiths, as interpreted by various religious scholars, as well as some other writers that were known at the time. He starts by citing the Koran, which is a sacred Islamic book written by the Prophet Muhammed, in where the translation is disputed; it could mean that you are to avoid paintings, as they are Satan s work, or it could mean to avoid idols, which in context most likely refers to pagan idols, which he shows an example of a Persian miniature that shows the destroying of an idol. Our combined salary was $24,000 a year, no, we were not living off of scraps, but budgeting was extremely important. (Belle Isle, A.). The work done by evangelists is truly from care and compassion, not from money, stability, or the chance of a promotions. Entry level is exit level in the mission field. (cmalliance.org). There is no climbing to the top, corner office, or big shots in missions but people who are genuinely called to the mission field do not mind. This career relies heavily upon one s faith in the Lord and trust that He will persevere through all trials and burdensome times. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8) is the anthem for many working in missions. Traveling while telling others of Christ is wonderful, especially receiving a pay check while doing so, however missionaries do have to leave their families behind in order to go serve the multitude. Saying goodbye to loved ones is not a simple task, however missionaries except that as part of the job in order to go spread to love to people. The positives of mission work outweigh the negatives tremendously. Mission work is strenuous, however yields wonderful results of newborn Christians which is the grandest reward that anyone could ask for. • 20. Evolutionary Theories Of Human Behavior Before discussing this question it is important to understand how neurotransmission occurs. Firstly, the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse across the neuron releasing dopamine transmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the neurotransmitter binds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately after the human is filled with joy and pleasure. This explains how (especially in addicts) the site of things can cause pleasure and affect human behavior in a positive way. Contradicting this however if there is a problem or lack of dopamine, the human will have feelings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically disgust would have allowed human ancestors to survive long and produce strong offspring because they would avoid harmful or rancid food or animals. Because of this, similar genes would have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust has become an acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In this cases study Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe from harm. In order to best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an online survey were given different images and asked to rank them on the scale system of disgust. This study discovered that women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of disgust compared to that of women in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study was controlled more greatly it was found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of food. This study helps supports disgust being an evolutionary trait passed on by humans because it helps young offspring fight potential disease as well as assist in the reproduction of offspring for having a greater survival chance.Within biological psychology, one of the primary principle states that there are biological correlates on behavior. By this, there are genetically acquired behavioral traits such as hormones and neurotransmitters that explains why humans have particular behaviors. One case study that helps to prove this theory is newcomer et al 1999. In this study participants were broken up into three groups, group one given the highest amount of cortisol had tablets that were 160 mg of cortisol for four days. Following this was group two who were given 40 mg of cortisol for also for 4 days, and lastly group three was given a placebo tablet. Cortisol is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of... When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read this semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself perfectly to a close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in Blake s volumes, Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience versions) demonstrated this duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same, however, the nature of the subject is drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday. This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in London, which was held on the first Thursday in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special service was held for the poorest children in London. These children would be brought to the church by their parish officers, serving approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this procession of children to the cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes towards the event itself. These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in content to two drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a picture of a bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With that notion in mind, it comes as a surprise that the English language is introduced so late in the public school education curriculum in Saudi Arabia. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many countries non native English speakers are introduced of English as a foreign language in public schools as a required subject beginning in early primary schools. In Saudi Arabia, in 1927 the English language was introduced at the secondary schools without a specific syllabus. In 1953, teaching English language was introduced at intermediate and secondary schools with a specific syllabus (Al Subahi, 1989). For many years in Saudi education curriculums English courses were compulsory and started from middle school up to secondary public schools, the students ages from 11 or 12 attended intermediate level and at age 18 finish secondary level. Nevertheless, private schools in Saudi Arabia start teaching English as a foreign language from first grade onward, however, there are a lot of students who still find mastering English very difficult, and their performance is still weak. I certainly regret that this is the case; looking back over our schools I believe they should inspire the students early about the importance of learning English language for the sake of their future. In short, learning foreign languages not just for giving ways to communicate with people in other countries, has become important for those who want to study and get a degree or who want a good job in other countries such as United States, British, or Australia. However, after the Texas Supreme Court again rejected her husband s petition to place his name on the ballot in 1930, she entered the gubernatorial race. Her defeat proved fortuitous politically because Sterling, rather than she, was blamed by the voters when Texas began to feel the full impact of the Great Depression. In February 1932 she again declared for the governorship; she promised to lower taxes and cut state expenditures, and condemned alleged waste, graft, and political favoritism by the Sterling controlled highway commission. After leading Sterling in the May primary by over one hundred thousand votes, Ma Ferguson barely won the Democratic nomination in the August primary. She then defeated the Republican nominee, Orville Bullington, in November to secure her 2nd term as governor. Her second administration did not engender as much controversy as the first, despite dire predictions to the contrary by her political opponents. The fiscally conservative governor held the line on state expenditures and even advocated a state sales tax and corporate income tax, although the state legislature did not act on these proposals. • 25. The During The Age Of Reformation Essay During the Age of Reformation people were greatly against the abuses that existed in the Roman Catholic Church. A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences, simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Church was the selling of indulgences by the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves and their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment due to sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of selling of Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to the highest bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A last abuse of the Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members instead of giving it to more qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained and dedicated worker was needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote an indictment of the abuses of the Roman Catholic Church called the 95 Theses, he appealed to many people across Europe. In his indictment he greatly criticized and addressed the selling of indulgences above all. At first, a person would have to do work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Bug s Life the relationship between the grass hoppers and the ants can be described and discussed in terms of the theory of class by Karl Marx (1818 1883). Karl Marx believed that a capitalist society was to blame for alienation of the workers (Sociology, 2013). Alienation involves workers feeling isolated and away from the end product. Which dehumanizes them making workers feel unsatisfied and feel as though they are unable to improve their lifestyle. He found particular ways to which capitalism alienates those who work. Those ways were split in to four different categories, which are: Being alienated from the act of working which is being alienated from their own choice as they are not given a right to decide what product to make and how they are going to make it. There is also being alienated from the product, this can be linked to the Bugs Life as the food the ants provide for the grass hoppers is not seen again after being taken away from them. The feeling of being alienated from other workers, Marx stated is also a type of alienation which can also be linked with Bugs Life as throughout the season the focus for the ants is to collect food from the grasshoppers by walking in single file lines, therefore are not able to talk to one another. The final type of alienation according to Marx is the feeling of being alienated from their human potential which is where one lacks the ability to develop and gain knowledge whilst at work which helps dehumanize them as they are not living up to their human ... It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise of outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently than can internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in producing and delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of scale may contribute to this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a long term or short term need exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees, temporary workers are hired. In this case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary resources except the workers, who are provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor has full responsibility for delivering the service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison. The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications of global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. • 28. The Absurd Geniuses Of All Time Samuel Beckett, regarded as one of the best Theater of the Absurd geniuses of all time, is an Irish playwright and director of the avant garde. Living in Paris France for the majority of his life, he wrote in both English and French. Using bleak and hopeless themes, his works depict a harsh attack on realism and challenge the very meaning of life. Beckett s works opened the world of theater to many interesting possibilities in drama and fiction. He introduced to theater and novel the idea that the existence of human life is absurd, an idea that is prominent in his writings. Born and raised in Ireland, he excelled in his education at Dublin University and Campbell College before moving to Paris in 1928. Here he was introduced to the profound Irish author, James Joyce, who is regarded as one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century. Beckett and Joyce assisted in each other s writings, including the book, Finnegans Wake (1939). Finnegans Wake shows some of Beckett s darkness with its themes of sin interpreted in a dreamlike state. This book also inspired Beckett s more comedic approach to the dark and depressing themes in most of his works. Assumption (1929), written by Beckett, was his first of many stories. Consisting of various themes of human nature and Irish folklore, this story was the first of many that could be considered as difficult to understand or just gibberish, due to its syntax being strained to incomprehensibility. Persecution Of The Puritans During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists , were members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England under Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along with censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to instill their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan persecution states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through religion, to wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to discover God s will for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant variation of the Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often disputed. The most popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans could not be maintained and thus escaped. In spite of the fact that his verse shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the wonderful utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His work is full of nature and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems that I will be working with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening . In the poems Road not taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frost explains that both depict how to take choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in that will affect his life forever. In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where the road is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate of his life. The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he can t choose both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to seniority moving toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live with for the rest of his life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the truth, it s an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other, as just as fair and having perhaps the better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both roads strike as comparative, with no apparent difference. As a result, his absence of activity and uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay. Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet endeavors to persuade himself with little achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself that if one road ends up being unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick the other road. The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of the social science practices and the nature of human beings. The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science. The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book. The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16). The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history, and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarna period in 18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing Aton. That you only need to call the number on your screen to receive your compensation? Or how about the ones for transvaginal mesh implants, Xarelto, or men developing gynecomastia after taking ARVs? These are all tort lawsuits that have been/are being tried in court to punish companies for making faulty products. This seems fair, doesn t it? However, states brought similar lawsuits against tobacco companies and won. The states were paid $206 billion dollars to offset the costs for treating those who have been harmed by tobacco products. These lawsuits led to tobacco companies regulating the industry more and providing public health campaigns warning about the negative effects tobacco products can have (Aliprandini and Walter 1). The last influential case for tort litigation is the Dalkon Shield lawsuit. The Dalkon Shield is a birth control device that caused harm to those who used it. There were so many claims that the company declared bankruptcy. (Although it was later revealed that the company was not bankrupt but declared it to quit paying claims.) These lawsuits led to the Medical Device Amendment. This amendment states that all medical devices need to be tested and approved by the Food and Drug Administration before being sold to the public (Aliprandini and Walter ... Psychiatrist, Keith Ablow states that the armed services psychological stance is now influenced by ... learned optimism wherein soldiers are actually taught to deny stress and trauma, and false bravado is actually encouraged... (Ablow). In a The New Yorker article, Maria Konnikova writes, learned helplessness [learned optimism] can indeed be a severe form of torture. The inability to control one s environment has repeatedly been shown to create not only anger and frustration but, eventually, deep and often insurmountable depression (Konnikova). United States Sergeant Robert Bales story is one of many of how a forced and abundant amount of optimism has negatively affected the military. Bales had been deployed to Iraq multiple times, one of which he had suffered a traumatic head injury. While on a deployment, Bales killed 16 civilians in Afghanistan. Reports show that Bales was showing psychiatric symptoms, prior to the massacre, but Ablow quarrels that the philosophical belief, learned optimism, should be the one to blame (Ablow). When society pressurizes optimism upon people during stressful times, it merely induces for more disputes and obstacles. • 46. The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University On Losing Everything This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town, not only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close knit community, named St. Amant, about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family experienced a loss greater than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les Bon Temps rouler, or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan s as not caring about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Power of Money in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby The Power of Money in The Great Gatsby Ex President Jimmy Carter knows both the power and the limitations of money. This was made clear in his speech to the American people when he stated: Our great cities and our mighty buildings will avail us not if we lack spiritual strength to subdue mere objects to the higher purposes of humanity (Harnsberger 14). • 48. The Temple Of Divus Augustus Zackary Marion Miss. Jackson World History 27 October 2015 The Temple of Divus Augustus was a major temple originally built to commemorate the first Roman emperor, Augustus. The temple was built between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, and behind the Basilica Julia. The temple was built on the site of the house where Augustus inhabited before he entered the public life around the mid 1st century BC. It is known from Roman currency that his temple was originally built to a hexagon style design. The size, physical proportions and exact site are unknown. Provincial temples of Augustus, like the smaller Temple of Augustus in Pula, now in Croatia, had already been constructed during his lifetime.
