Essay on Classicism Versus Romanticism in Tom Stoppard s...
Tom Stoppard is one of the finest playwrights of the modern age. Some of his well known plays are
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Coast of Utopia, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour,
Professional Foul, The Real Thingand many more. The finest of all his plays is Arcadia. The literary
meaning of the term Arcadia inspired Tom Stoppard to write his play Arcadia. It was titled Et in
Arcadia ego . Arcadia actually means a vision of pastoralism and harmony within nature. The Greek
province of the same name has helped in the derivation of the term. The term s existence has also been
figured out in Renaissance Mythology. Arcadia refers as something unattainable as commonly as
Utopia. The term Arcadia is symbolic of pastoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play focuses on the romance of the mind and the body. Remarked by early reviewers to be similar
to Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, Tom Stoppard had excelled in this field and gives a glimpse of his
theatrical genius with Arcadia.
Arcadia covers the two different ages the early nineteenth century and the present modern world,
matched, juxtaposed together bringing in a rare combination of the different facets of Classicism and
Romanticism. The two timelines talk about sex, literature, love, epistemology, landscaping, the
Second Law of Thermodynamics and the romance. Stoppard s intellect looms large over the plot of
the play and is efficiently presented in the form of this play. It is a two act play containing seven
scenes. The characters belonging to the early nineteenth century are Septimus, Thomasina, Mr. and
Mrs. Chater, Lady Croom, Captain Brice, Mr. Richard Noakes. Hannah Jarvis, Valentine, Bernard,
Gus and Chloe are the characters belonging to the present modern world. Thomasina Coverly, the
thirteen year old daughter of Lady Croom, is more interested to know what carnal embrace is than
anything else. With her Stoppard had presented a truly heartbreaking character. She is driven not only
by intellectual knowledge but by sexual desires also. Although Lady Croom tells Thomasina that she
must wed before she is over educated. With her Stoppard puts forth the classicism in an elegant way.

The Iron Curtain Analysis
Description: The artwork that I am criticizing is the Wall of Oil Barrels The Iron Curtain by Christo
and Jeanne Claude. The location of this barricade was in Rue Visconti, Paris, between Rue Bonaparte
and Rue de Seine. Rue Visconti is a one way street that is 140 meters long and 3 meters wide. They
used oil barrels and put them up on June 27, 1962. Christo and Jeanne Claude worked together on the
barricade, taking a total of eight hours to get it all done. The iron/steel oil barrels were stacked on top
of each other, forming a wall/barricade of some sort. Christo and Jeanne Claude left all the barrels
exactly they way were, they didn t even change the colors of them. They also kept the brand of the
barrel and the rust on them visible. The barricade took up 488.26800 feet (13.7 x 13.2 x 2.7). There
was a total of 89 barrels used to create the art. Analysis: The wall of oil barrels appear to be some
balance. If they weren t at least balanced and stack properly, the whole thing would ve probably
collapsed. There are just enough enough barrels to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I enjoyed learning about them and looking at it. Prior to doing more research on them, I just thought
their work wasn t art and just random things put up/built in places. Now that I know more about it, I
am able to fully understand it and enjoy it better. I couldn t live with this in my house, it would take up
too much space. Theoretically however, I think I would enjoy having this in my house. I t has a nice
meaning behind it and it would be nice to see everyday. It is aesthetically successful in my opinion, it
just works so well. I would say this art piece is a mix between formalism and Imitationalism. I believe
both are what makes an artwork aesthetically successful. The whole thing, from how it was
constructed to the meaning behind it, are the reasons why I think this piece is

The Lost Generation In The Lost Generation
Individuals of Generation X those born between 1963 and 1981 have seen the world around them
change in a variety of ways during their lifetime, from the fall of the Soviet Union to the dawn of the
personal computer. Some of these advancements directly affected their lives, while others influenced
their attitudes, opinions, and outlooks. Generation X should not be reflected as the lost generation, but
the generation that introduced technology embraced innovation and observed tragedies that implanted
fear across the entire nation.
I remember sitting in my fifth grade history class watching the live broadcast of the Challenger liftoff
and the devastating explosion claiming the lives of seven astronauts. We had previously discussed the
importance of the mission as teacher, Christa McAuliffe, earned her spot on the mission for NASA s
program Teachers in Space (History.com, 2010). I sat there trying to process and understand what
happened and we were not provided an explanation, it was more confusing than shocking, Looking
back if this happened today, I suspect schools would have dismissed for the remainder of the day. At
this time, it was an undeniably historical event for my generation. It was supposed to be a moment of
joy but quickly turned into one of the most defining tragedies of this decade. This became the first
national trauma for children, and America struggled with providing an appropriate explanation for all
the children who witness the horrific event on

Mental Health Professional Goals
People in the mental health field risk stress when working with clients with various traumas daily. It is
important for counselors to practice self care. I believe that self care is the difference between working
in the mental health profession for one year and working in the profession for 25 years. By learning
and keeping track of my goals, not taking clients emotional baggage home, and healthy nutrition I
believe that I will be an effective counselor with limited stress. Professional Goals I want to be a
counselor that is well educated in the mental health field. I would like to one day open my own mental
health facility. I would like my facility to cater to single fathers, the homeless, and people with
psychosis. I believe that the best way to reach my goals is by interning with agencies or companies
that I am interested in. I want to join a few research groups, so I can be enlightened to innovative ideas
and concepts in the field. Every morning, I attempt to get a handle on my procrastination because I
feel that is the biggest obstacle in achieving greater feats. Fellow Students I am a gregarious character

I believe that referring out should only be in the benefit of the client and not because the client makes
the counselor feel uncomfortable. A client should be referred out if he or she has a condition that the
counselor does not have experience in. For example, a counselor might refer a client with Borderline
Personality disorder to a counselor that is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy because that is the
clinically validated treatment for that population. Another reason to refer a client is if

Bombardier is a Canadian based public company operating in the sector of manufacturing planes and
train in several countries. It was founded by Joseph Armand Bombardier in 1942. They key people
involved in the management are Pierre Beaudoin, Alain Bellemare and Lutz Bertling who are working
as Chairman, CEO and COO of the company respectively. Over the years, this company has utilized
its resources very well and followed a fantastic strategy of expansion. Most of the expansion was
made using inorganic strategy of expansion by acquiring various companies already running in the

In an effort to achieve this, Bombardier Capital (BC) was formed in 1973 with a focus to provide
services of loan, asset management and leasing throughout the Americas. In 2004, BC saw a major
setback as Moody s credit evaluation section downgrades BC ranking to questionable credit quality
from moderate credit risk. At this time, Bombardier decided to get rid of Bombardier Capital and sold
this to GE Commercial Finance. Though, such downgrade has not affected its train and plane business
sections. Since then, Bombardier s main focus is on plane and train segment and it is performing very
well.

Analysis Of The Poem The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel...
The view of nature changed during the course of time periods and throughout my seven reading
reflections. I started my reflections during colonial time with The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel
Hawthorn. During the puritan era nature was seen as a sin. The forest where Hester and Dimmesdale
reconnected their love was seen as the place where the black man lives . Embracing nature and its
carefreeness was seen as a dreadful decision, and this changed over time. On the other hand, my
second journal was all about imagery and the beauty of nature. Walt Whitman s I Saw in Louisiana a
Live Oak Growing is a comparison of a tree and the narrator s life. The narrator knows he cannot live
an independent existence like the oak tree does. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a transformation from the previous journal and the peacefulness of Mother Nature that was
described. After Crane, the next journal is about a well known poem by Robert Frost Stopping by the
woods on a Snowy Evening . Nature in this poem is seen as a place that pulls the narrator away from
reality, so much that he considers ending his own life. This poem is full of beautiful New England
imagery. The snow blanket covering the forest can be a deadly concealment over the narrator. He does
not seem to mind that he is mentally getting lost in nature s exquisiteness. The poem leaves the reader
on edge because it does not actually say if the man left this captivating place or if he is literally
consumed by its magnificence. This is a modernist poem due to the fact it can be taken in so many
ways and leaves us with no answer. Next I reflected on Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River .
Nick, a war veteran, compares himself to numerous aspects of nature, including soot covered
grasshoppers. Nick feels a bond with these insects due to the fact they were both hurt and have a layer
of hurt over them. Nick had a special spot in the forest before he left for the war. When he came back
he felt the same special feeling, which shows natures power and healing. Since returning from combat
he feels more respectful of nature and animals, not even wanted to hurt a fish. Even though Nick is
delighted

Cubist Collage
The readings for week five were Cubist Collage, the Public, and the Culture of Commodities by
Christine Poggi and In the Name of Picasso by Rosalind Krauss. Poggi and Krauss take two somewhat
different approaches to examine the usage of signifiers and language in Cubism collages. Poggi takes
a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed
attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by discussing the way in which Picasso and
Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The
paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced materials like newspaper or wallpaper in
the Cubist collages. Through this, he challenges not only the hierarchical distinctions between high art
and mass culture that would come to be a basis for much of twentieth century modern art, but also
challenges idea of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taking a more impersonal view of the usage of signs in Picasso s work. Krauss investigates the idea of
the proper name as a signifier and how it can be used in a representative function outside of indicating
an individual by using our understanding of Picasso s Seated Bather and Bather with Beach Ball after
knowing whom the figures were modeled after [23,26]. Krauss looks at the idea of the relationship
between the signifier and the signified and how, like Poggi, she believed signs can be manipulated to

The Musical, My Fair Lady Directed By George Cukor
Critical Review This critical review is about the musical, My Fair Lady, directed by George Cukor
based on the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. This musical altered some of the scenes and
added new ones. The basic storyline of the text is about a young flower girl that runs into a phonetics
teacher who claims that he could sell her as a duchess. The flower girl, which is later known to be
Eliza, takes up the offer and starts speech lessons with the teacher, Mr. Higgins. He coachers her night
and day to prepare her for a race and an embassy ball where she will meet royalty. Mr. Higgins is also
acquainted in the beginning with one of his respected colleagues who also specialize in phonetics,
Colonel Pickering. Although, Higgins treats her as baggage he soon gets attached to her and her ways.
Colonel Pickering however, treats her as a respectable lady. She has a great success at the ball but is
not recognized for it, which disappoints her. She decides to run away to Mrs. Higgins house where she
found by Higgins and Pickering. She organizes her thoughts with Higgins and says she will never
come back to them but at the end of the movie, not the play, she comes back to Higgins and Pickering.
The main play and musical is based off of a similar storyline which goes something like this: There is
a young flower girl who has a cockney accent which prevents her from getting a nice high paying job.
Her dream is to work in a flower shop as an assistant. She runs into a phonetics

Research Paper On Airport Interview
The location of the interview was in the boardroom of the Hector International Airport. The attendees
of the meeting were Kaitlyn Anderson, Stacie Tjon Bossart, Corey Quinton and Jim Koehler. Kaitlyn
is the daughter of Darren Anderson, who was the driver of the airport s Chevrolet Traverse, the subject
vehicle that was involved in the accident. Kaitlyn appeared at the interview wearing a sweat suit. She
is 18 years old and a freshman at studying pharmaceutical medicine at North Dakota State University.
She lives at home with her parents and her younger sister. She made a nice appearance during the
interview and was able to keep composed during most of the meeting. Overall, she will make an above
average witness.
Kaitlyn was in the vehicle with Darren Anderson at the time of the accident because he was excited
about the construction project going on that involved the runway and wanted to bring her out to see
the project. They arrived at the airport at approximately 11:00 PM on July 30, 2017. They walked
through the administration section of the airport and then got into the airport s Chevy Traverse.
Kaitlyn reported that the Traverse is equipped with amber warning lights on the top; however, she was
not certain if the lights were activated at any time that night.
Kaitlyn and her father drove out onto Runway 18 36, which was closed due to the construction and a
restriping project, and they parked near the intersection of Runway 18 36 and Runway 9 27. Her dad
got out of the vehicle and had a conversation with Henry Swedberg, from the airport, and another
gentleman also from the airport, regarding the work that was ongoing that night. Kaitlyn got out of the
vehicle to say hello to Henry and then both she and her dad got into the vehicle to escort the painting
truck down the middle of Runway 18 36. (Escort vehicles, which are in radio contact with the tower,
must accompany all non airport vehicles on the runways.)
West River Striping was repainting the center line of Runway 18 36 from taxiway C through the south
end of the runway. After they escorted the large painting truck to the south end of Runway 18 36,
Darren Anderson indicated that they needed to go back to the intersection of Runway

Homeric Seafaring
Surveying the Validity of Homeric Seafaring
Ancient Greeks predominantly lived in on island archipelagos or on the coast of nearby mainland
because mainland Greece is one of Europe s most mountainous countries, which complicates animal
and crop husbandry. Correspondingly, seafaring has always been paramount in the Aegean, especially
for the Greeks, due to ease of transportation, trade networks, and defensive needs. Mainland Greeks
utilized seafaring to bring in necessities cheaper than they could produce them at home, and they
saved time traveling by land, rather than trek the long way through the mountains. When living on
islands, sea travel is a necessity to contact outsiders and participate in extensive trade. Even Greeks in
Homer s epics appear to know the sea well (Mark 2005, 145). Despite Greek seafaring s prominence,
archeological and textual evidence for seafaring in the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age Aegean is
relatively sparse, with a near lack of physical boat remains. Filling in holes, such as with literary
sources, in the timeline of Aegean seafaring provides a greater understanding of the development of
Greek ships, as well as the cultural implications of the technology invoked. The most extensive textual
source of this era s seafaring is Homer s epics, but they are epic poetry of the eighth or early seventh
century BCE concerning Greece s heroic, mythical past. Homer s Iliad and Odyssey are set in the
Bronze Age, yet include Iron Age elements (Mark 2005,

The Giving Tree Thesis
How much do you have to give? The Giving Tree shows that even if you leave someone for a while
for other things they won t forget who you are. When you come back later in life needing help they ll
give you everything they have to help you and make you happy. With the tree and the boy, the tree
gives its apples, sticks, and its tree trunk just to give the boy all he asked for. n The Giving Tree, Shel
Silverstein uses personification of the tree to show how the tree plays with the boy and gives all it has
to the boy.
Would you give everything you had just to make someone you love happy? I want to buy things and

The Role Of Judas In The Holy Bible
The biblical narrative derived for this composition origins from the gospel writings according to St.
Luke in The Holy Bible. Within his writings, Luke recounts the Passover, Christ s warning of the
betrayal, and the night of the betrayal. On the night of the betrayal, he recounts Christ waking the
sleeping disciples, Judas amongst them, explaining him rising to bestow a kiss onto Christ. St. Luke
states: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve,
went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him (Luke 21:47). Giotto s fresco directly becomes
influenced from this scene, and becomes the point of action he creates within his biblical narrative
fresco. His composition marks the beginning of the chaos that clouds Christ s arrest; illustrating the
powerful confrontation Christ and Judas are compelled into. While Christ is depicted unwavering in
his pose and expression, Judas is rendered in a furious facial expression and stance. His face is inflated
more so than Christ s, illustrating the swelling of corruption beneath his physical features. He appears
almost to gaze hatefully towards Christ, as his eyebrows become fused tightly together and appear to
create a tension within his form. He pose is similar to an animalistic stance; he has one hand on Christ
s shoulder to draw him in nearer, while enclosing his long yellow cloak around his figure to envelop
him within this grasp. By Judas expression and stance, Giotto depicts

benefits and the harm of breast cancers screening tests available (Siu, 2016). Also, the healthcare

for cancer of the breast.
The United States Preventive Service Task Force recommends mammography to individuals who are
50 years and above taking into account the risks it poses to the client (Nelson, Smith, Griffin, Fu,
2013).Mammography is well thought out as the primary technique for screening of breast cancer. This
procedure is crucial in the detection of early stages of breast cancer more often before even a lump can

of breast cancer related complications has been observed following the screening with mammography

The guidelines that existed previously had considered clinical breast examination which was to be

concluded that there is inadequate proof for the recommendation of this procedure when there is the

Essay On The Colony Of Virginia
The colony of Virginia was founded by a stock company: the Virginia Company. To attract people
Virginia made a wonderful charter. Emigrants who paid their own way to Virginia got fifty acres of
land. There would not be mere tenants. Civil authority would control the military. A council of
burgesses, representatives chosen by the inhabitants of the colony for their government, would be
convened as the House of Burgesses. The governor could veto their actions and the company still had
overall control of the venture, but the settlers would have a say in their own government, including the
right of the House of Burgesses to introduce money bills. The King s court appointed a royal governor,

by the king because of their family and wealth. In all, there were twenty two members that attended.
All the representatives were English. Each of the Virginian counties had sent a representative to the
house. The first meeting was on July 30, 1619. It was held in the choir of the church on Jamestown
Island. It lasted for six days, but was cut short by the disease, Malaria. Problems began to strike, like a
massacre from the Native Americans where they killed 400 colonists. As hard as the government tried
to conceal the problems, the king heard about them. He made virginia a crown colony. The king
divided the colony into eight shires. By 1643, there were 15 shires! Most jobs were simply
commanded to people. Only the representatives got votes to represent. Each shire would send a vote
for a representative to go and work in the House, rather than have it be just rich people. White men
that were seventeen years old or older and owned land were able to vote for these representatives. In
1652, Oliver Cromwell forced Jamestown to admit that they had been taken over. However, that did

All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others Animal Farm. This represents the
mentality that was presented in Animal Farm the book written by George Orwell. Orwell is able to use
political rhetoric to represent communism and greed within a society. In this case the society is
conveyed by different groups of animals on Manor Farm , which symbolizes the oppressed groups of
people who lived in Russia before the Russian Revolution. Manor Farm represents communist

Joseph Stalin led in taking over Russia, in Animal Farm, Napoleon takes over the farm from the owner
Mr. Jones. When Napoleon assumes responsibility of running the farm he changes the farm name to
Animal Farm , this signifies the rebellion and the Revolution. With Napoleon in charge the former
communist ruled farm changes to a socialist society where all the animals work together and attain the
same amount of food and resources. This is what Stalin tried to create before returning to a communist
society. By the end of the novel, Napoleon also goes back to communist rule which represents the idea
that socialistic societies or utopian societies do not always work. At Animal Farm , Napoleon had nine
loyal attack dogs similar to the secret police Stalin used to carry out his commands. Snowball, another
pig at Animal Farm , represents Leon Trotsky, who was able to win the loyalty of the other animals
similar to the way Trotsky was able to win over people in Russia too. In Russia, the working class
people were represented by Boxer a cart horse who works hard and trusts the pigs to make decisions

like the pigs, the working class people played a key role in the early prosperity of Animal Farm . Like

To put it mildly the cultural differences between the United States and South Korea are vast. South

culture in that it is rich in tradition and heavily influenced by Confucian values. The values of
Confucianism funnel down to everything from family life to corporate life. Javidan et al. (2006)

The dimension known as Institutional Collectivism shows how a culture practices rewards and
encouragement. Javidan et al. (2006) explain that South Koreans thrive off of teamwork and group
reward unlike other countries such as the United States, which favors a more individualistic system (p.
70). Of all the cultures studied as part of Project GLOBE, South Korea ranked highest in their need of
a group reward system. This information will help me establish a reward system that will satisfy the
need that the employees require in South Korea.
An additional factor that Javidan, et al. (2006, p. 70) raises is Uncertainty Avoidance which can be
characterized as a tolerance for uncertainty (Hofstede™ Cultural Dimensions, n.d.). According to
Hostede s scale, South Koreans do not like change and thrive off of order and use structure to
minimize uncertainties (Hofstede™ Cultural Dimensions, n.d.). This leads me to question, how they
will handle a new foreign manager? especially a woman manager.
Culture Shock One of the biggest culture shocks for me will be the move itself. Relocating my family,

Workplace Discrimination At The Eden Prairie, Minnesota...
Workplace discrimination takes place when an employee is hostilely discriminated against for one or
more reasons, including gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity or race. Per the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission, racial discrimination comprises of treating a job candidate or
employee negatively because they are of a certain ethnicity or because of particular features linked
with their race, such as hair texture, facial features or skin color. While the law forbids workplace
harassment and discrimination in all facets of employment, from hiring and training to raises and
layoffs, the EEOC still reports thousands of claims a year. One such claim was filed by the EEOC in
the U.S. District Court of Minnesota against Alliant Techsystems (ATK), on behalf of Tyeastia Green.
EEOC v. Alliant Systems In 2012 Tyeastia Green applied for a job at the Eden Prairie, Minnesota site
of Alliant Techsystems. An IT professional, Tyeastia hoped to provide technical support for executives
of the aerospace and defense manufacturing corporation. Tyeastia was initially told from an ATK
recruiter that she had been chosen for the position, only to find out that she had been rejected after her
offer was withdrawn and given to a Caucasian man. Fearing that she had become the victim of racial
discrimination, Tyeastia Green contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, who are in
control of imposing federal laws barring employment discrimination. The EEOC agreed with Ms.

Full House Character Analysis
In a 1987 sitcom Full House they portray something close to an average family. The family consist of
Danny Tanner the father of DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. His role as the father in the family is to teach
the children life lessons and to discipline them. He also has the role of cooking, cleaning, etc. a role
typically giving to the mother in family sitcoms, but because of the mother s death he also has to take
on these roles. Michelle being the baby of the family is portrayed as cute, but slightly manipulative in
trying to get her own way. The middle child Stephanie is seen as devious, and nosey. The final child
DJ is the oldest and acts like what a typical older sibling would be, always looking out for her younger
siblings. Other characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This show represents the importance of life lessons, and the way the children are being raised. Saying
that the way the children are being taught and disciplined plays an important role on what they do in
the real world. The way this family successfully represents the importance of how the kids are being
raised is the communication between each parental figure. In one episode Danny the father of the
children told Jesse( cool uncle ) to watch over the children while he was gone. This was an issue
because Jesse was too busy writing music to pay attention to Michelle the younger child. Michele later
in the episode became bored and decided she wanted to walk the dog and because Jesse was too busy
she went on her own and ended up losing the dog across the street. Instead of going across the street
after the dog she stayed back and told Jesse and Danny what happened. It was understandable that
Danny would be upset with Jesse after hearing this, but instead of the issue becoming worse Danny
talked it out with Jesse. This allowed him to learn to never leave the children unattended again, fixing

Description Of Aquila Constellation
AQUILA Constellation written by Chance Gearhart for AST 102, Fall 2017
Introduction:
Aquila is a constellation, not an asterism. A constellation is a group of stars forming a recognizable
pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure.
Aquila is located in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. In Latin, Aquila means the eagle.
The purpose of this assignment is for students to learn how to recognize the Aquila constellation in the
night sky and learn about the stars and mythology behind it.
Description of Aquila:
The Aquila constellation is usually described as the eagle. The stars in this constellation form an arrow
in the sky. It looks similar to a bird with two large triangles spreading out on both sides and a small
tail from the back. Aquila is home to Altair, which is the brightest star in its constellation but also the
twelfth brightest star in the night sky. There is a picture of Aquila in the night sky in the attachment to
this paper.
How to locate Aquila:
The Aquila constellation is best seen in the northern summer due to its location along the Milky Way.
To locate Aquila it is best to first locate Altair in the Summer Triangle asterism. The Summer Triangle
is made out of three stars: Vega, Altair, and Deneb. Altair should be relatively easy to find because it is
a first magnitude star. It will be the second brightest star in the Summer Triangle. After finding Altair,
you should look for the

Too often I find myself utterly shocked at how fickle people are. After Volkswagen was caught
polluting at a horrifying rate, people grew outraged. The company immediately apologized, fired their
CEO, and paid their customers a modest fee. Six months later, people are still brandishing pitchforks
against the company, yet no one cares that General Motors was shamelessly letting people die for 15
years, anymore. The court case against GM yielded less than nothing for the American people, when
one considers the fact that GM paid less in fees, than the amount they were bailed out with using

The Sibling Society (1996), Bly argues and states about change of our society and starts the interesting
introduction in a strange way with hidden meanings to lead to his point of what it really means to be
an adult in the modern society. This passage is not completely a book as whole and was put together
partially for college student to read the main focus point of the author. Bly makes points back and
forth in his essay of in the between paternalistic society and the sibling society that he observed and
argues the differences. He blames the first generation because of their disrespect of authority to let
down in traditional values that failed to provide a moral compass for the young. The strong point of
this book is his description of a disturbing development in modern society that denies to become a
fully adult. Admiration for elders has disappeared and forgotten, tradition has worn out, and families
are being ignored.
Writer Bly, talks about during his generation, paternal society, being uniformity and how they had an
elaborate and internally consistent form (250) during paternal society, kids learned how to talk to the
adults, to be respectful and responsible at school yet, they still asked for their authority when to make
decisions. He says hundred years ago men and women in photograph express in a way We re adults.

overcome the struggles of European imperialism. Europeans had migrated to these areas to establish
an economic system that would benefit European countries. Their attempts toward autonomy was a
battle all in itself, but increased the level of nationalism among the people of these countries. After
World War I, India established organizations known as the Indian National Congress and the Muslim

Pericles to a large extent contributed to the Golden Age of Athens as the most influential citizen, is

The Golden Age of Democracy was able to be achieved by Pericles through his democratic reforms
and policies which gave the power to the demos and completed the steps to democracy. The Golden
Age of Culture was accomplished as Pericles, the Patron of the Arts promoted this flourishment of art

Agreeably, Kagan states his first appearance as a distinct figure was through the interaction with the
arts by sponsoring the play Persians by Aeschylus as a choregus, which gained Pericles popularity and

architecture through his second democratic reform (461) which passed an allowance for Athenians to
attend public festivals and subsidizing theatre admission for poorer classes to watch plays; validates
the importance of art by allowing all classes to participate and Pericles efforts in establishing the
Golden Age of culture. Through his support of the Arts, tragic dramas would reach the culmination of
popularity and appeal to mass audiences, also maintained the tradition in which theatre served as
moral and intellectual education for the people, depicting legends, wars and real life events. However,
the most significant initiative by Pericles was the Building Program likewise both ancient and modern
historians (Williams, Ehrenburg and Plutarch) collectively agree to its symbolism of Athens glory and
the pinnacle of Athens culture, the grandeur of buildings was unprecedented and brought Athens much
admiration and prestige in the Greek world, (Williams) asserts Pericles role in the formation of Athens
Golden Age of Culture. One of highest acclaim would be the Parthenon (as described by Kagan) on
the Acropolis embodies the perfection and innovation of Classical Period Art; built on a 4:9 ratio made
entirely of Pentelic marble and features no straight lines but curved forms to combat optical distortion.

There are some moments in this world that bring out the best in people. Unfortunately, it is usually in
times of danger and distress that people show their true heroism. In the novel The Zookeeper s Wife

and Antonina risk not only their lives, but also the lives of their family to help those in need, but
hiding Jews in the empty zoo animal cages. Diane Ackerman, the author of the novel, brings this

Even though the title of the novel indicates that she is just a wife, and Jan is the actual zookeeper, it

chores include taking care of the animals in the zoo, including nursing and healing the sick animals.
Since Jan is called away on many occasions due to the war, Antonina is left to watch over the zoo s

Traditional Parenting Styles Are Distinct And Share...
For quite some time now, the question on how to correctly raise children has been debated intensely.
The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound to rise. These
two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports saying their
respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and has even been
dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the Western style offers a
free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of their children. Both
parenting styles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua is a significant supporter
for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother
along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are Superior . Chua has experience with the
chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now she is raising her own children through it. One
opposer of Amy Chua is Hannah Rosin, an editor for the Atlantic and the standard for western
parenting style. Rosin writes an article named Mother Inferior , which is a response to Chua s work.
Although Amy Chua s parenting style may seem to provide better results for the parents, Hanna Rosin
parenting style is more beneficial for all parties involved for a couple of reasons. One being the fact
that children often struggle handling pressure at such a young age. The other is the belief

How Does Luis Valdez Present Social Injustice In Zoot Suit
Zoot Suit is a play, written by Luis Valdez, based on the Sleepy Lagoon murders and the Zoot Suit
riots of the nineteen forties. In this play, Valdez embodies Chicano culture and social injustice. Upon
reading the play, it is very apparent that the main source of injustice is institutional racism and it is
shown in the court scenes of this play. It starts with the Opening of the Trial (Act I,Scene 9) and in this
it proves that the court itself has already set up Henry and the gang for failure. They failed to show
any human decency in which they did not allow the boys to wear clean clothes or even fix their hair.

cleverly uses the press character as the prosecutor as well. In this scene, the press is setting up Della to
self incriminating questions by connecting the boys to weapons that were never found at the crime
scene and trying to coerce her answers into sounding like confessions. Of course the judge was no
help because he was against the pachucos from the start, in fact in this scene it reveals that even their
lawyer knew that they were going to lose. In the end, it was the prosecution s concluding statement
that defined this as a racist trial. The prosecutor says it himself, the specific details of this murder are
irrelevant before the overwhelming danger of the pachuco in our midst (62). On a trial about murder it
is very odd to hear that the specific details are irrelevant and it proves that this trial is more than what
it is. They are not on trial for what they could have done, they are on trial for what they might do

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the network layer protocol which is the best known example of network
layer and every machine consists of its own IP address. It manages the connectionless transfer of data
one hop at a time, from end system to ingress router, to router to router, and from egress router to
destination end system. It is not responsible for reliable delivery to a next hop, but only for the
detection of eroded packets so they may be removed.
Connection model:
The OSI Network Layer protocol can be either connection oriented, or connectionless. In general, the
TCP/IP Internet Layer supports only the connectionless Internet Protocol (IP).
Message forwarding: This is the most important function of network layer. Since many networks are
partitioned into sub networks and connect to other networks for wide area communications, networks
use specialized hosts, called gateways or routers to forward packets between networks.
Datagram Encapsulation:
Network layer performs encapsulation of messages received from higher layers by placing them into
datagrams which are also referred to as packets with a network layer header.
Fragmentation and Reassembly:
The major function of the network layer is transmitting messages down to the data link layer. Some
data link layer technologies consist of certain limitations on the length of any message that can be

Analysis Of The Poem Dead Man s Dump And Dolce Et...
Issac Rosenberg s Dead Man s Dump and Wilfred Owen s Dolce et Decorum Est both deal with the
problem of watching one s fellow soldiers die in combat. A common and major theme in both works is
the representation of death at war in the two poems. Despite this commonality, while there are
similarities, there are also differences in the poems representations of death on the battlefield. The
difference in the poems representations of death on the battlefield can be seen in the contrast in their
respective tone, usage of imagery, and form alongside the subject matter. In Rosenberg s, Dead Man s
Dump , the poem describes a battlefield and the aftermath of combat. The poem title itself reflects
how the poet, himself, feels regarding war and its different aspects. In a nutshell, the main point that
he is trying to get across to the reader is how demoralizing and gruesome a battle scene is during times
of war. Scattered across the scene are the bodies of the deceased. There is a truck going around,
surveying. All of a sudden, there is a sound; one of the soldiers is still alive. The perishing soldier begs
for the truck of men to find him quick. Unfortunately, by the time they do, they are only in time to
witness his last gasps as he, too, dies. Dead Man s Dump is a war poem which consists of vivid detail
conveying to the reader the brutality of World War I. As a reader, Rosenberg s effective usage of

  • 2. Essay on Classicism Versus Romanticism in Tom Stoppard s... Tom Stoppard is one of the finest playwrights of the modern age. Some of his well known plays are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Coast of Utopia, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, Professional Foul, The Real Thingand many more. The finest of all his plays is Arcadia. The literary meaning of the term Arcadia inspired Tom Stoppard to write his play Arcadia. It was titled Et in Arcadia ego . Arcadia actually means a vision of pastoralism and harmony within nature. The Greek province of the same name has helped in the derivation of the term. The term s existence has also been figured out in Renaissance Mythology. Arcadia refers as something unattainable as commonly as Utopia. The term Arcadia is symbolic of pastoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The play focuses on the romance of the mind and the body. Remarked by early reviewers to be similar to Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, Tom Stoppard had excelled in this field and gives a glimpse of his theatrical genius with Arcadia. Arcadia covers the two different ages the early nineteenth century and the present modern world, matched, juxtaposed together bringing in a rare combination of the different facets of Classicism and Romanticism. The two timelines talk about sex, literature, love, epistemology, landscaping, the Second Law of Thermodynamics and the romance. Stoppard s intellect looms large over the plot of the play and is efficiently presented in the form of this play. It is a two act play containing seven scenes. The characters belonging to the early nineteenth century are Septimus, Thomasina, Mr. and Mrs. Chater, Lady Croom, Captain Brice, Mr. Richard Noakes. Hannah Jarvis, Valentine, Bernard, Gus and Chloe are the characters belonging to the present modern world. Thomasina Coverly, the thirteen year old daughter of Lady Croom, is more interested to know what carnal embrace is than anything else. With her Stoppard had presented a truly heartbreaking character. She is driven not only by intellectual knowledge but by sexual desires also. Although Lady Croom tells Thomasina that she must wed before she is over educated. With her Stoppard puts forth the classicism in an elegant way. The questions and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Iron Curtain Analysis Description: The artwork that I am criticizing is the Wall of Oil Barrels The Iron Curtain by Christo and Jeanne Claude. The location of this barricade was in Rue Visconti, Paris, between Rue Bonaparte and Rue de Seine. Rue Visconti is a one way street that is 140 meters long and 3 meters wide. They used oil barrels and put them up on June 27, 1962. Christo and Jeanne Claude worked together on the barricade, taking a total of eight hours to get it all done. The iron/steel oil barrels were stacked on top of each other, forming a wall/barricade of some sort. Christo and Jeanne Claude left all the barrels exactly they way were, they didn t even change the colors of them. They also kept the brand of the barrel and the rust on them visible. The barricade took up 488.26800 feet (13.7 x 13.2 x 2.7). There was a total of 89 barrels used to create the art. Analysis: The wall of oil barrels appear to be some balance. If they weren t at least balanced and stack properly, the whole thing would ve probably collapsed. There are just enough enough barrels to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I enjoyed learning about them and looking at it. Prior to doing more research on them, I just thought their work wasn t art and just random things put up/built in places. Now that I know more about it, I am able to fully understand it and enjoy it better. I couldn t live with this in my house, it would take up too much space. Theoretically however, I think I would enjoy having this in my house. I t has a nice meaning behind it and it would be nice to see everyday. It is aesthetically successful in my opinion, it just works so well. I would say this art piece is a mix between formalism and Imitationalism. I believe both are what makes an artwork aesthetically successful. The whole thing, from how it was constructed to the meaning behind it, are the reasons why I think this piece is ... • 4. The Lost Generation In The Lost Generation Individuals of Generation X those born between 1963 and 1981 have seen the world around them change in a variety of ways during their lifetime, from the fall of the Soviet Union to the dawn of the personal computer. Some of these advancements directly affected their lives, while others influenced their attitudes, opinions, and outlooks. Generation X should not be reflected as the lost generation, but the generation that introduced technology embraced innovation and observed tragedies that implanted fear across the entire nation. I remember sitting in my fifth grade history class watching the live broadcast of the Challenger liftoff and the devastating explosion claiming the lives of seven astronauts. We had previously discussed the importance of the mission as teacher, Christa McAuliffe, earned her spot on the mission for NASA s program Teachers in Space (History.com, 2010). I sat there trying to process and understand what happened and we were not provided an explanation, it was more confusing than shocking, Looking back if this happened today, I suspect schools would have dismissed for the remainder of the day. At this time, it was an undeniably historical event for my generation. It was supposed to be a moment of joy but quickly turned into one of the most defining tragedies of this decade. This became the first national trauma for children, and America struggled with providing an appropriate explanation for all the children who witness the horrific event on ... • 11. Analysis Of The Poem The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel... The view of nature changed during the course of time periods and throughout my seven reading reflections. I started my reflections during colonial time with The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorn. During the puritan era nature was seen as a sin. The forest where Hester and Dimmesdale reconnected their love was seen as the place where the black man lives . Embracing nature and its carefreeness was seen as a dreadful decision, and this changed over time. On the other hand, my second journal was all about imagery and the beauty of nature. Walt Whitman s I Saw in Louisiana a Live Oak Growing is a comparison of a tree and the narrator s life. The narrator knows he cannot live an independent existence like the oak tree does. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a transformation from the previous journal and the peacefulness of Mother Nature that was described. After Crane, the next journal is about a well known poem by Robert Frost Stopping by the woods on a Snowy Evening . Nature in this poem is seen as a place that pulls the narrator away from reality, so much that he considers ending his own life. This poem is full of beautiful New England imagery. The snow blanket covering the forest can be a deadly concealment over the narrator. He does not seem to mind that he is mentally getting lost in nature s exquisiteness. The poem leaves the reader on edge because it does not actually say if the man left this captivating place or if he is literally consumed by its magnificence. This is a modernist poem due to the fact it can be taken in so many ways and leaves us with no answer. Next I reflected on Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River . Nick, a war veteran, compares himself to numerous aspects of nature, including soot covered grasshoppers. Nick feels a bond with these insects due to the fact they were both hurt and have a layer of hurt over them. Nick had a special spot in the forest before he left for the war. Poggi takes a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by discussing the way in which Picasso and Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced materials like newspaper or wallpaper in the Cubist collages. • 15. Homeric Seafaring Surveying the Validity of Homeric Seafaring Ancient Greeks predominantly lived in on island archipelagos or on the coast of nearby mainland because mainland Greece is one of Europe s most mountainous countries, which complicates animal and crop husbandry. Correspondingly, seafaring has always been paramount in the Aegean, especially for the Greeks, due to ease of transportation, trade networks, and defensive needs. Mainland Greeks utilized seafaring to bring in necessities cheaper than they could produce them at home, and they saved time traveling by land, rather than trek the long way through the mountains. When living on islands, sea travel is a necessity to contact outsiders and participate in extensive trade. Even Greeks in Homer s epics appear to know the sea well (Mark 2005, 145). Despite Greek seafaring s prominence, archeological and textual evidence for seafaring in the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age Aegean is relatively sparse, with a near lack of physical boat remains. Filling in holes, such as with literary sources, in the timeline of Aegean seafaring provides a greater understanding of the development of Greek ships, as well as the cultural implications of the technology invoked. The most extensive textual source of this era s seafaring is Homer s epics, but they are epic poetry of the eighth or early seventh century BCE concerning Greece s heroic, mythical past. • 17. The Role Of Judas In The Holy Bible The biblical narrative derived for this composition origins from the gospel writings according to St. Luke in The Holy Bible. Within his writings, Luke recounts the Passover, Christ s warning of the betrayal, and the night of the betrayal. On the night of the betrayal, he recounts Christ waking the sleeping disciples, Judas amongst them, explaining him rising to bestow a kiss onto Christ. St. Luke states: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him (Luke 21:47). Giotto s fresco directly becomes influenced from this scene, and becomes the point of action he creates within his biblical narrative fresco. His composition marks the beginning of the chaos that clouds Christ s arrest; illustrating the powerful confrontation Christ and Judas are compelled into. While Christ is depicted unwavering in his pose and expression, Judas is rendered in a furious facial expression and stance. His face is inflated more so than Christ s, illustrating the swelling of corruption beneath his physical features. He appears almost to gaze hatefully towards Christ, as his eyebrows become fused tightly together and appear to create a tension within his form. He pose is similar to an animalistic stance; he has one hand on Christ s shoulder to draw him in nearer, while enclosing his long yellow cloak around his figure to envelop him within this grasp. Through his support of the Arts, tragic dramas would reach the culmination of popularity and appeal to mass audiences, also maintained the tradition in which theatre served as moral and intellectual education for the people, depicting legends, wars and real life events. However, the most significant initiative by Pericles was the Building Program likewise both ancient and modern historians (Williams, Ehrenburg and Plutarch) collectively agree to its symbolism of Athens glory and the pinnacle of Athens culture, the grandeur of buildings was unprecedented and brought Athens much admiration and prestige in the Greek world, (Williams) asserts Pericles role in the formation of Athens Golden Age of Culture. One of highest acclaim would be the Parthenon (as described by Kagan) on the Acropolis embodies the perfection and innovation of Classical Period Art; built on a 4:9 ratio made entirely of Pentelic marble and features no straight lines but curved forms to combat optical distortion. The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound to rise. These two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports saying their respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and has even been dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the Western style offers a free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of their children. Both parenting styles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua is a significant supporter for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are Superior . Chua has experience with the chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now she is raising her own children through it. One opposer of Amy Chua is Hannah Rosin, an editor for the Atlantic and the standard for western parenting style. Rosin writes an article named Mother Inferior , which is a response to Chua s work. • 34. How Does Luis Valdez Present Social Injustice In Zoot Suit Zoot Suit is a play, written by Luis Valdez, based on the Sleepy Lagoon murders and the Zoot Suit riots of the nineteen forties. In this play, Valdez embodies Chicano culture and social injustice. Upon reading the play, it is very apparent that the main source of injustice is institutional racism and it is shown in the court scenes of this play. It starts with the Opening of the Trial (Act I,Scene 9) and in this it proves that the court itself has already set up Henry and the gang for failure. They failed to show any human decency in which they did not allow the boys to wear clean clothes or even fix their hair. Its starts with the press. The press was an important symbol of racism in which they would report and paint their own image of pachucos in order to criminalize them to the public. In this case, Valdez cleverly uses the press character as the prosecutor as well. In this scene, the press is setting up Della to self incriminating questions by connecting the boys to weapons that were never found at the crime scene and trying to coerce her answers into sounding like confessions. Of course the judge was no help because he was against the pachucos from the start, in fact in this scene it reveals that even their lawyer knew that they were going to lose. In the end, it was the prosecution s concluding statement that defined this as a racist trial. The prosecutor says it himself, the specific details of this murder are irrelevant before the overwhelming danger of the pachuco in our midst (62). On a trial about murder it is very odd to hear that the specific details are irrelevant and it proves that this trial is more than what it is. They are not on trial for what they could have done, they are on trial for what they might do because in their perspectives; rapists, drug abusers, or violent gang members is all a Mexican can ... Network layer is the third layer of the OSI model. It performs switching and routing by creating logical paths, known as virtual circuits, for transferring data from one node to another node. Routing and forwarding are the major functions of this layer. It also performs other operations such as addressing, internetworking, error handling, congestion, control and packet sequencing. It maintains the quality of service requested by the transportation layer. It determines how data are transferred between network devices. The Internet Protocol (IP) is the network layer protocol which is the best known example of network layer and every machine consists of its own IP address. It manages the connectionless transfer of data one hop at a time, from end system to ingress router, to router to router, and from egress router to destination end system. It is not responsible for reliable delivery to a next hop, but only for the detection of eroded packets so they may be removed. Connection model: The OSI Network Layer protocol can be either connection oriented, or connectionless. In general, the TCP/IP Internet Layer supports only the connectionless Internet Protocol (IP). Message forwarding: This is the most important function of network layer. Since many networks are partitioned into sub networks and connect to other networks for wide area communications, networks use specialized hosts, called gateways or routers to forward packets between networks. Datagram Encapsulation: Network layer performs encapsulation of messages received from higher layers by placing them into datagrams which are also referred to as packets with a network layer header. Fragmentation and Reassembly: The major function of the network layer is transmitting messages down to the data link layer. Some data link layer technologies consist of certain limitations on the length of any message that can be sent. If the packet that the network layer wants to send is too large, the network ...
