As directors assume important leadership roles and they are more informed than other shareholders,
thus the information asymmetry tends to be higher between directors and outside investors than
between venture capitalists and outside investors. However, venture capitalists are repeat investors
who have valuable reputation at stake which may limit their conflict of interests with outside investors
acquiring shares in the IPO. Outside investors may not purchase shares in the IPO backed by venture
capitalists who were previously involved in taking advantage of insider information and reducing the
wealth of outsider investors. Besides venture capitalists also use IPO as an exit mechanism to
optimally recycle investments and maximize future returns. Hence the length and expiry of directors
lockup agreements will convey significantly different information than the length and expiry of
venture capitalists lockup agreements.

Biological Explanations For Homosexuality
Beatrice sets down a teapot and plates, sits beside her loyal best friends, stuffed with cotton, and cries
out joyfully, Cheers! She laughs with them and talks to them without a care in the world; she is free
from all the problems that will someday be thrown at her in life. Will Beatrice have a choice in who
she loves, or will her genetics decide that for her? Some people may contradict that she is destined to
be homosexual, others say it is a choice, and some voice that nurture is the sole cause, out of her hands
to be determined. People across America are mostly unsure how to respond to this conflict, mainly
because not many people know what the right answer is. Research has been made, debates have taken

Homosexuality is a response to these harmful experiences that can cause individuals to reject one

Letter Chapter Probation Letter Draft
Upsilon Chapter Probation Letter Draft In April 2014, Fraternity Council placed Upsilon Chapter on a
Warning of Probation for poor communication with the Fraternity, failure to follow Risk Management
Procedures, and failure to follow previous requests to maintain Fraternity standards. This Warning of
Probation was extended in April 2015 and again in February 2016. We are pleased with Upsilon
Chapter s progress. Chapter officers made great strides by implementing change, applying
parliamentary procedure, and developing a master calendar and chapter budget. However, you should
recall that when we met with you in February, we emphasized the need for individual members to
engage with Chapter Council to make deeper changes that reflect the shared values of our Fraternity.
Issues that surfaced during the spring formal and subsequent Standards Committee interactions
revealed the size of the gulf that continues to exist in this regard. As you are aware, the events of that
April evening drew in the attention of the university administration. The Fraternity started a dialogue
with Northwestern University about our shared concern for Upsilon Chapter. We are working together
to determine ways to ensure the safety, health and well being of members. Let us be clear, the events
of the spring formal do not erase the progress you have made and it does not alter the plan we have
spelled out to achieve the hard and slow work of culture change. However, the Fraternity needs to be

Introduction
The purpose of this work is to discuss the relevancy of the court case the United States of America v.
Richard D. King, Jr. and the influence it had on future cybercrime cases. A description will be given as
to how the Fourth and Fifth Amendments are applied to cybercrimes, as well as an explanation how
the Fourth and Fifth Amendments were addressed in this case. Further explanation on how the King
ruling may apply to other cases involving computers or other devices that contain electronic evidence
is provided.
The 4th and 5th Amendments Applied To Cybercrimes The 4th Amendment can be applied to
cybercrimes, but not the 5th Amendment. However, the 4th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A brief summary of the events leading up to the case provided through the University of Phoenix
materials includes King s involvement in email communications with Larkin, the mother of a 2 year
old girl who would later be abused by King sexually. Because Larkin and the child, known as Peanut ,
were residing in King s residence, law enforcement would serve an arrest warrant there against Larkin
and to rescue Peanut from abuse by her caretakers. King walked the officers to Larkin, who willingly
gave up her computer to investigators. King objected that his hard drive was in her computer and did
not give permission for officers to take it, but they did so regardless of his objections. King would
later be connected to further criminal activity and willingly went to speak with law enforcement,
where he made admissions to his involvement. King would later try to have his admission and other
evidence obtained through investigating Larkin as well hidden when he was charged and faced trial
for his crimes (University, 2016).
In regard to the 4th Amendment, King asserted that the police violated the Fourth Amendment when
they entered his house on February 19, 2004 and seized his hard drive without a warrant or his consent
(FindLaw, 2016). Because the owner of the computer hardware was disputing the legality of its
removal from someone else s property without his permission, King

The Reproductive Hormone 17 Β -estradiol ( E2 )
The reproductive hormone 17β estradiol (E2) is the main form of estrogen found in female has several
functions; particularly it maintains the female reproductive system and acts as a component of
metabolic processes. (6) Research has shown that E2 has effects in animal models in reducing anxiety
as well as other depressive behaviors. (11) E2 can exert its effects via direct genomic action, but can
also cause effects via indirect genomic action. The direct genomic action occurs through the utilization
of two intracellular receptors for estrogen, estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and estrogen receptor beta
(ERβ). ERα is thought to be involved with stimulatory processes, while ERβ is thought to be involved
in inhibitory processes. (6) To test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction
E2 uses its direct genomic effect to regulate gene expression throughout the brain. In its classical
mechanism E2, or any other estrogen or estrogen like compound, will bind to the ERα or ERβ receptor
forming a complex, which will then act as a transcription factor, which will either activate or inhibit
specific genes by binding as a dimer directly to an estrogen response element (ERE). When E2 or
other estrogens are not present, a heat shock protein inhibits potential activity. (6) E2 can also act
through ERE independent mechanisms, or indirect genomic actions, such as activating multiple
intracellular kinase cascades by binding to other membrane associated estrogen receptors (mER). (9)
E2 specifically mediates behaviors and stress physiology in the hypothalamus by regulating central
neural pathways. A large amount of these pathways passes through the arcuate nucleus (ARC) which
strongly expresses ERα. (12) To analyze how both the ERE dependent and ERE independent
pathways may affect stress behaviors it is necessary to utilize the mouse models mentioned previously.

Accountability Is The Foundation For Humanitarian Aid
Accountability is the foundation for humanitarian aid because it dictates the level of effectiveness of
the response. Also, it allows humanitarian agencies to manage risk in disastrous situations and affected
populations. As defined by HAP, Accountability is the means through which power is used
responsibly. It is a process of taking into account the views of, and being held accountable by different
stakeholders, and primarily the people affected by authority or power (HAP, 2010). HAP clarifies that
when referring to power and accountability, it does not mean that the agencies have power over the
community. However, the agencies have the responsibility to control the way power is used within
these crisis affected populations. Regardless, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example of Typhoon Haiyan response upholds how a more organized and relevant approach to
approving AAP will initiate more support of networks. Aside from the Haiyan response, there are have
been other attempts at improving accountability within humanitarian agencies. Another example is the
Pakistan Accountability Learning Working Group (ALWG) is a way to link accountability both
globally and locally. Lastly, Sierra Leone is an example of how humanitarian agencies attempt to
collect data about the affected areas in hopes of a more comprehensive approach. In order to develop
better accountability methods, it must have a consolidated approach, which means that the agencies
must understand the area they are serving. Humanitarian agencies should have the intentions of
listening and responding to the needs of these affected areas, listening is not adequate. By having a
more consolidated approach, the agencies are able to obtain data about the crisis areas, and with this
data they can provide a more realistic approach.

David Chidester s Salvation And Suicide
In Salvation and Suicide David Chidester analyzes one of the most chilling events in history. In 1978
Jim Jones orchestrated a mass murder suicide killing 914 Jonestown citizens. Following this event the
media posed the question What is the relation between religion violence? Chidester using evidence to
support an understanding of why the people of the People s Temple could commit mass murder
suicide and follow the teachings of Jim Jones. Chidester gives a brief description of the events and of
Jim Jones life leading up to the massacre, giving insight to Jim Jones childhood. Furthermore
explaining Jim Jones understanding of religion, and his reasoning for creating an unthinkable event.
As a child Chidester describes Jones as a Dennis the Menace (p.2) type of person. He reveled in the
pranks he would pull on what he considered to hypocritical Christian preachers and enjoyed retelling
the stories to his friends. Chidester describes one prank specifically in which Jones took a preachers

Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant Essay
Background
Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant is the biggest advanced wastewater treatment plant
in the world, which covers 153 acres. The facility is operated by District of Columbia Water and
Sewer Authority (DC Water). It provides wastewater collection and treatment services to more than 2
million customers in Washington, USA. The treatment plant can treat up to 370 millions of gallons per
day in Maryland, the District, and Virginia suburbs, with a complete treatment peak flow of 740 mgd,
and an excess flow of 336 mgd (Eckert et al., 2010).
Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant received awards from the National Association of
Clean Water Agencies for having a peak performance for more than 10 sequential years. In the year
2003, the plant also received an excellence in management award. In the previous years, the plant has
successfully upgraded and improved its liquid processing systems. There is little doubt that DC water
has been a champion of protection and restoring all their waterways.
To provide a reliable supply of consumable water from the Potamic River to the city, the congress
commissioned the construction of an aqueduct system in the year 1852. Washington Aqueduct was
designed and constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The operation began in 1864. In the
20th century, filtration plants were added to the system.

Theory of Operant Conditioning
Theory of Operant Conditioning
Instrumental conditioning, otherwise known as operant conditioning is a theory that B.F Skinner came
up with and is defined as a learning process by which the consequence of an operant response affects
the likelihood of the response recurring in the future. Basically, operant conditioning is a stimulus
response prototype that when reinforced, conditions individuals or organisms response to a desired
behavior (Huitt, W., Hummel, J., 1997) Our behaviors are shaped to be desirable or undesirable
through reinforcements, punishment and extermination. Overall, operant conditioning is seen to be
voluntary reaction that precedes the stimulus and the reinforcement. Classical conditioning is one of
the techniques used in behavioral training. The process of classical conditioning works with the
introduction of neutral stimuli before the original stimulus and the same reaction is elicited from the
organism even without the presence of the original stimulus. The Pavlov dog salivated with every
sight of food as the original stimulus for the salivation. When a neutral stimulus was introduced like a
bell that was rang each time before it was fed, the dog started salivating at the ringing of the bell even
before the food was availed.
Positive and negative reinforcement
Introduction of the negative reinforcement to construe behavior entails removal of an unfavorable
events or outcomes after the display of a behavior. A response is strengthened by the

What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar s To Pimp A Butterfly
Life is a jungle, a beautiful, colorful landscape, often painted with harsh conflict and oppression.
Navigating forward requires keeping healthy relationships with the community and those close to you,
maintaining focus on your true identity, and not losing sight of larger than life goals. These ideals are
the message that Kendrick Lamar wishes to bestow upon whomever experiences his latest album, To
Pimp A Butterfly.
Kendrick s story originates in Compton, a jungle at its core, where he learned that survival depends on
working with others and keeping intact with your roots. Because of the harsh living environment and
unavoidable presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Tupac, Kendrick wanted to demonstrate characteristics of a great leader so he too could be
an example for his people.
Unfortunately, the excessive fame and separation from Compton came with harsh consequences:
Kendrick began to struggle with keeping in touch with his roots, and the ideals that hoisted him to the
throne. He expresses these emotions in the track Momma, where he states how he knows everything
about life, but goes on to realize that after reaching stardom, he may be out of touch with his roots and
all he knew. Throughout the rest of To Pimp A Butterfly, we find out he felt lost in the cocoon a
metaphor for the grasp media has on society, and desperately began to cling to his true identity as a
way to break free from the cocoon s bounds. Eventually, Kendrick emerges as a butterfly, wanting to
return home and teach all the caterpillars what he learned.
For Kendrick, African American oppression and Compton s black on black crime is at the forefront of
his frustration, and a prime inspiration for his need to teach the community about working together.
On the track simply called I , a live recording, Kendrick is heard calling out to a crowd to join
together. Unfortunately, his message seems to initially fall on deaf ears. Instead of listening, the crowd
continues to fight over how to fix the problems in their community, rather than unite to fight them
together. As he continues to speak, the crowd becomes quieter, and Kendrick goes on to condemn

International Marketing For Potential Foreign Market Essay
LO1: Understanding the concept of international marketing for potential foreign market:
To: International Marketing Director
From: Adopting the International Marketing Approach
Subject: Internationalization of Hilfiger
Date:
(AC 1.1) Why Hilfiger Have to develop international marketing
International marketing is a most renowned concept in today s globalized world. It is the application
of marketing principles in more than one country. Hilfiger should develop international marketing for
the following reasons:
New revenue potential: New market share will indeed generate more profit. If we are able to
successfully introduce our product in other countries then it will help us to grab more revenue
potential. Since clothing is one of the basic needs as well as luxury so international marketing is not be
too risky for us. (Anon, 1978)
Learning a new culture: International marketing is crucial in learning a new culture. If our company
go for international marketing then the company will experience and learn the culture of that country
which may cost us. Because we may produce some products which may fail but this will help us in
long run to go for another market of same nature in a very cost effective way. The experience of our
company in dealing with a new culture will increase. (Anon, 1978)

The Pan Africanism For Beginners
The Pan African movement as described in Lemelle s Pan Africanism for Beginners is a set of ideas
and ideologies containing social and cultural, political and economic, material and spiritual aspects.
Each aspect is accompanied by a plethora of historical figures and terms unique to the movement, well
described throughout the text and in the presented glossary. This book makes it easy to understand all
the information accompanying each topic. While it does have its strengths and weaknesses, this book
as a whole creates and explains a diverse scope of information. It describes the beginnings of Pan
Africanism and shows how the beliefs of many influential people have stemmed from notions and
dreams of years passed.
As a learning experience, Lemelle s Pan Africanism for Beginners provides a strong broad base of
knowledge. Instead of concentrating on the specifics of Pan Africanism, this book covers a broad
range of aspects, from the Diaspora to Garveyism to the Harlem Renaissance. Because there are so
many people and movements associated with Pan Africanism, it is nearly impossible to go into detail
about every important event in one book. Even so, Lemelle does a good job at providing enough detail
on each topic, while still conveying how complex Pan Africanism is. By including many facets of Pan
Africanism, Lemelle is able to spark an interest in the reader so that they can continue onto more
specific research. For instance, when Lemelle explained the Conference of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardized Writing System
Writing has constituted an important practice in human culture since the earliest forms of writing were
discovered from cave paintings made 40,000 years ago. Writing enables writers to express themselves
in a writing system that conveys unique features of its associated culture. In this context, writing
means a standardized system for recording, in a specific language, content ranging from values to
ideas to poems, etc. Humans have communicated in thousands of languages throughout history and
consequently devised numerous different writing systems for expressing those languages. To facilitate
easier communication, it has sometimes been suggested that the world adopt a single writing system
capable of representing all languages. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an over optimistic and naïve argument, however, for at least three reasons. Most particularly, a
standardized writing system might seem ideal, but it cannot overcome the enormous difficulties
brought about by requiring the world s citizens to learn a new writing system. This is because learning
writing systems is very challenging, laborious and time consuming (Tzeng Wang, 1983); this is even
more the case for adult learners, who might anyway see little benefit and much disadvantage from the
additional financial expense of learning a new writing system when they are already expert users of
their written language. A second reason why a universal writing system is ill advised is because
languages are living things that evolve slowly over time; there never can be a standard writing system
while cultures are continually developing new forms of expression. This can be seen from the fact that
the Chinese writing system has already undergone several evolutions over the centuries. Thirdly, the
argument for standardizing a writing system is naïve because it entails controversial political
decisions. No doubt the powerful nations of the East would prefer a logographic or a syllabic writing
system while their Western counterparts would prefer an alphabetic writing system. Each side would
therefore favour its existing writing system to minimize disruption and to ensure forms of cultural
hegemony. Taken together, these three arguments demonstrate the impracticality of a universal writing
system and highlight the difficulties such a system would

If these great thinkers (Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz) were to discuss instead the soul s connection

uncompromising ideals as one would find in a meeting of Andrew Weil, Jerry Falwell, and David
Duke, I expect that the philosophers would find some surprisingly common ground. Descartes, the
Christian outcast, Spinoza, the Jewish outcast, and Leibniz, the creative mathematician all
acknowledge that what we know better than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Descartes claims of the body s necessary existence follows from the cogito if the mind
exists, then it must exist in contrast to other, external things I presume that both Spinoza and Leibniz
would take the opportunity to point out that Descartes presupposes the existence of the god that
necessarily created his body and mind before speculating on whether or not his body and mind exist.
Nice claim, bad explanation.
Spinoza s staunch, pantheistic monist view of the world establishes that the mind and body are not
separate entities in themselves, but only two of an infinite amount of attributes of the same and only
substance in existence God. One can relate this reasoning to two attributes of a red hot poker red and
hot. Does this entail that red and hot are always dependent on a poker and that they are in essence the
same thing? Although this is not a likely conclusion, Spinoza raises the important question of how far
we can analytically separate parts of a world that are always interacting with each other. Try getting a
metal poker to glow red without heating it, or heating a poker without eventually having it glow red.
This is improbable, albeit possible in theory. The mind and body may be two separately identifiable
things, but one will more than likely find the two cooperating with each other as attributes of the
natural world.
Such cooperation

Literary Analysis Of Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman
A Sorrowful (and now dead) Woman
OR The Good (and now dead) Housewife
OR The Life and Death of the World s Best Mom
Gail Godwin s Sorrowful Woman develops the message that the archetypal role of mother and wife is
so constricting and limiting as to force the mother character to end her life. The end of the story
demonstrates the power of rhetoric, contrast, and detached narration in creating the text s message. A
Sorrowful Woman features a superficially simple narration style. Now the days were too short. She
was always busy, Stylistically clipped, with a clear passive, detached, voice the narration style seems
to be a banal, unimportant feature of the text. Yet the exact mendacity that prompts this description
actually serves as a prerequisite to developing an understanding for the principal character s mindset,
and consequently the theme of the text. The last passage contains numerous examples of detached
narration but the clearest occurs when She was always busy. She woke with the first bird. Worked till
the sun set. No time for hair brushing. Her fingers raced the hours. The concise, third person narration
in this segment allows the reader to experience the slightly off viewpoint of the mother. Specifically,
given the lack of motivation present through the text coupled with the concluding suicide it becomes
evident in the text that the mother is suffering from depression. Given the societal stigma surrounding
mental illness authors generally face an uphill

Solidarity Movement And Polish Revolution
On May 7th, 2011, United States President Barack Obama made a speech in which he asked the Arab
Spring nations in transition to democracy to use Poland as a role model . However, Central Europe
and the Middle East are different linguistically, religiously, and historically. Was there any actual basis
for President Obama s comparison? Or was this speech another instance of a politician making a grand
generalization to prove a point? Upon further examination, both Poland s Solidarity movement and
Tunisia s Jasmine Revolution acted as catalysts for democratization in their respective regions. This is
because they both started as economic movements, and then evolved into social movements, which
became democratization attempts. In addition, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, the workers themselves began to organize and publicly demand rights. The last group in
Polish society who was responsible for achieving success in the Solidarity movement was the
religious sector. The religious support that the Solidarity movement possessed cannot be overlooked.
On the protestor s side, it s easy to fight for your rights when you know that God supports you. On the
other hand, it s difficult for the government to fight against a religious institution that has such
powerful influence over the people. Pope John Paul II, originally a Polish citizen named Karol
Wojtyla, played a key role in not only broadcasting the Solidarity movement to the world, but also by
giving the Solidarity movement a pseudo divine right to exist . In 1978, Karol Wojtyla was elected to
be the first non Italian pope since the 1500s . Thus began the attention that he drew not only from the
international Catholic community, but the international community in general. Furthermore, in his
visit to Poland, he affirmed the Polish people s right to organize themselves, and to protest against
their mistreatment. In 1979, the year before Solidarity was officially formed, Pope John Paul II visited
his home country once again and gave speeches concerning civil rights in Poland. The International
Center on Nonviolent Conflict states, During a pilgrimage that was broadcast on state TV and radio,
the Pope spoke openly about human rights and the right to freedom of expression and conscience .
CNN confirms this statement and adds to it, stating that the Pope s support was financial, as well. In
discussing the fall of communism in Poland, it claims, It took time; it took the Pope s support from
Rome some of it financial; it took several more trips in 1983 and 1987. But the flame was lit. It would

Mendelian Genetics Lab Report Essay
Lab Report: Mendelian Genetics
Introduction: In 1866 an Austrian monk, Gregor Mendel, presented the results of painstaking
experiments on the inheritance patterns of garden peas. Those results were heard, but probably not
understood, by Mendel s audience. Now, more than a century later, Mendel s work seems elementary
to modern day geneticists, but its importance cannot be overstated. The principles generated by
Mendel s pioneering experimentation are the foundation for genetic counseling so important today to
families with health disorders having a genetic basis. It s also the framework for the modern research
that is making inroads in treating diseases previously believed to be incurable. In this era of genetic

Teens are more likely to respond to calls, text while driving, and riding than adults. They talk and text

Three refers to the conditions of how armed forces between the US and Japan will be administered.
Finally, Article Four states that the treaty will expire when both the US and Japan are satisfied that

The peace treaty was fairly generous to Japan. It did not necessarily have to pay heavy reparations to
the US, nor did it have any post treaty supervision of the state. Japan s economic recovery was put at
the top of US interests, which allowed Japan to enter the US markets, which Japan highly favored as it
hoped to become an economic power. Without the need to build military force for security, Japan
would be able to devote all of its resources to its economy. Simultaneously, the US pressed Japan to

common. In literature they are seen being locked into a tower room where they are forced to live their

Civil Society And Globalization Essay
A globalized society creates an increasingly complicated set of forces and factors that bring people,
cultures, markets, and beliefs together. The improvement of technology, transportation, and
communication means that in the last century businesses, governments, and people are being drawn
into greater proximity with one another. As a result, the notion of civil society is slowly being
challenged because state borders are no longer containers of society , meaning that the state is no
longer a fixed unit of sovereign space (Agnew, 59). One of the key phenomenon of globalization is the
emergence of a global civil society. Global civil society refers to the vast assembly of groups
operating across borders and beyond the reach of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, global civil society and globality/globalization are two ideas that are inherently linked and
interdependent on the definitions of one another. Globalization is a key concept that engenders a set of
terms that embody it. Terms like interconnection, interdependence, liberalization, etc make us think of
a global situation that is marked by intense interaction and interdependence between country units
(Scholte, 237). Therefore, global civil society is what defines relations and social connections in a
globalized world where territorial location, territorial distance, and territorial borders do not have a
determining influence because the idea of place as territorially fixed is diminishing (Scholte, 237). An
important concept of civil society is its influence on civic activity on a domestic scale and the
influence that activity has on the organization of national politics. A large reason why the development
of global civil society occurred was in response to the changing political environment as a result of
globalization. According to Scholte, new geography has ended the state s effective monopoly on
governance that developed under conditions of territorialism (241). In other words, in the new post
sovereign world policies and administration does not adequately reflect citizenship and democracy
because these ideals no longer center around the state. That is why global civil society is the attempt
of citizens to

The Venetian Laggon and Overfishing
In recent years, the Venetian lagoon has been under the threat of devastating over fishing. This tragic
exploitation of a resource is largely promoted by the fact that property rights in the lagoon are not well
defined (Rossetto, 2000; Nunes, Silvestri, Pellizzato, Boatto, 2008; Longo, 2003). This paper will
investigate the failure of current policies in the Venetian lagoon to promote a sustainable yield, and
aims to discover what variables of a successful common property regime are missing from the
Venetian case. The issue of common property regimes in Italy has been approached previously by
multiple economists. Casari and Plott (2003), and McKean and Ostrom (1995) have investigated
common property in the context of the unique case of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, a forestry
operation in northern Italy and successful common property regime which despite being a different
resource is faced with many of the same risks and struggles as those faced by regulators of the lagoon.
Conversely, Longo (2003) and Rossetto (2000) have addressed the failures of the current system in the
lagoon. To add to the analysis, this paper will synthesize this research to define what makes common
property regimes such as the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme capable of sustainably producing, while
the regime in the Venetian Lagoon ultimately results in devastating overfishing. In order to uncover
the conditions which allow for the exploitation of fish in the lagoon, I will examine the issue with a

They are tall, brunette and men. They are different because Jerome does not have a heart condition,
where Vincent does. Also, I noticed that Jerome is right handed, and Vincent is left handed; this
provides symmetry.

important people in return for a part of their salary trades identities in the black market

3. What name does Jerome choose for himself? Is there any significance to this name? Jerome wants
to be called by his middle name: Eugene. With research on the internet, I have found that Eugene
comes from the Greek word meaning well born , which is a huge symbol in the movie. Also, eugenics
is the science of improving the genetic qualities of a species, which is also very interesting. 4. Do
Vincent and Jerome stick to their new names consistently through the film, or are there moments when
they revert to their original names? It is very rare that they use their original names since Vincent is

5. As the story unfolds, Jerome s behavior and especially his remarks about himself reveal a great deal
. How would you describe his character? In this movie, the society only valued perfect individuals,
which means they had a bright future according to their DNA. Jerome realized he would never be seen
as human again because he became crippled after trying to commit suicide. In a way he was broken,
and the only valuable thing about him was his genetic code,

How Did Clinton Escape Impeachment
1999 Clinton Escapes Impeachment
In the year 1998, Clinton was investigated and then accused of improperly using money from the
company Whitewater Development and using it to fund one of his previous campaigns. However,
what made the public hostile towards Clinton would have to be the discovery that he possibly had an
affair with White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky. He even lied about it under a presidential oath on
national television, despite their being clear evidence. It was after these two events that the demand to

impeachment requests did not receive 2/3 vote from the Senate. Clinton would escape impeachment
and be able to finish off his term.

plain and simple. And do you realize what many shelters have to resort to for this population problem?
Euthanization. Those kill shelters that everyone boycotts, they only exist because we have too many
stray animals. There are so many pitbulls, mutts, and mixes, that they outnumber the people that
actually want them. Some measures have been put into place to help decrease the number of strays
like the spay and neuter projects. But this takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually about 1 or 2 % of the population were pitbull types, but it s too complicated to confirm the
pedigree of a pitbull, so they weren t a very big factor in the experiment. I know you wanna get that
cute new puppy, breed of your choice. Trust me, I know. I got a black boxer puppy last summer and it
was the best thing ever. It was a new tiny thing when we had our grad party, so anytime there was the
distant relative you didn t know that asked you the 1000th question about college, you just said oh I
got a new puppy! and they left to go pet it. It was wonderful, oh the little squishy face. Trust me, I get
the wanting a puppy, with the squishy face, or whatever your heart desires. But has anyone ever
owned a purebred? The downside of purebreds is some breeds are predisposed to certain disorders.
Like for boxers, it s tumors, often malignant (cancerous). Or how dalmatians can sometimes be deaf.
It s actually fairly uncommon for a dalmatian to have complete hearing in both ears, I think it s like a
1 in 4 chance. It s actually from the explosion of breeding needed after the 101 Dalmatians movie
came out, fun fact. Anyway, my point is that purebreds often have disorders already in their genes.
There s this guy, Bellumori, who studied the lifespans of 27 28 thousands dogs for over a decade. Pure
breeds and mixed breeds. He worked with some DVMs for a piece in one of American Veterinary
Medical Association s monthly medical journals in June of 2013. So this guy tracked the occurrence of
24 different disorders in the course of 15 years. Everything from cardiac disorders, to epilepsy.
Cancers to allergies. Of these 24, 10 of them didn t have any correlation between mix and pure.
Thirteen of them, were more prevalent in purebreds. There was only one disorder that was more
common in mixes, and that was ligament rupture. And

God s Metamorphosis Of The Tower Of Babel
Before the Fall of Man everything was good. God created humankind in his own image and left us to
take care of the world. In the Garden of Eden, Heaven and Earth were one and God will many times
would walk and talk to Adam. Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam and Eve fell short
and disobeyed the rule that God gave them. Sin entered the world through humanity and tainted the
relationship we had with Him and the creation as a whole. Although humanity has been the conduit of
destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation through humanity. God s threefold plan to
restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel, depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the
church seeking out to join Heaven and Earth.
God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to
Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He will make of [Abraham] a great nation. At this
point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity mounted
towards a path of self destruction. By Genesis 11, in the story of the tower of Babel, God seems
dissatisfied with humankind and makes it difficult to communicate among one another. The story of
Abraham gives hope that God will make a great nation from a man, whom is just as impure as the rest
of humanity. God continues his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Law of Moses sets out to give guidelines to those who have been rescued by God. When
following these laws, Israel will live together, under God and in harmony. In order for the nation of
Israel to be a blessing to other families, they have to figure out the way to live justly with each other.
In Isaiah 2:2 4 as Wright points out, that the prophet is creating a vision of peace and hope, Through
Israel, God will restore humanity by creating a great nation that will be harmonious, just and bless the
other nations by being an example of a great

Chantrea Conway Characters
Elements of Novel
The protagonist of the story is Chantrea Conway.
The kind of person the protagonist is brave and reliable.
The evidence that leads to that Chantrea is brave and reliable is that she can keep a promise like when
she hid in the magic box, so the Khmer Rouge Soldiers wouldn t kill her for being American because
she promised her grandparents to not scream or leave the box even if the Khmer Rouge Soldier would
drag them out.
The conflict that Chantrea encounters is that Chantrea is trying to reach her father s family, but she can
t because of the Khmer Rouge Soldiers and Angkar won t let her come to America.
The conflict is resolved by the Angkar and Khmer Rouge Soldiers saying call family and leave or they
will find them a home, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She hugged herself tightly and watched them with wide eyes. If the soldiers up there looked down into
the thick tangle of roots , he would see the light colored rag of her T shirt. Rain had formed a small
creek at the base of the tree, and the murky water was up to Chantrea s waist. Her torn jeans did little
to protect her and she felt something long and slimy brush by her thin legs. Her heart began to pound
and her stomach twisted. She was terrified that if the creature bit her, she would scream and alert the
soldier. To her relief, the unseen animal went on its way, just as the snake had done. Perhaps it only
saw her as another root of the tree. The characters and dialogue are believable. Strong The plot
engages my interest. Fair This novel is written in a style that is clear and interesting. Strong The
details in this novel add to its appeal. Strong Overall, I rate this novel as: Strong The reason for my
rating is that it has a strong touch on parts of the book and sometimes you can feel the book come
alive and what I like about the book that it has a vivid flavor of words that give the book a nice

In his poetic, a tragic hero cannot be an eminently good man. The suffering of such a man will be
shocking. The tragic hero neither can be a bad man nor a villain. The tragic hero is a man who is not
eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is bought about not by voice, but by the some error of
judgement. The misfortune of such a man will lead to downfall. In Things fall Apart, the main
protagonist Okonkwo is considered as tragic hero and he has the all the noble characters. Oknokwo

This Warning of Probation was extended in April 2015 and again in February 2016. We are pleased with Upsilon Chapter s progress. Chapter officers made great strides by implementing change, applying parliamentary procedure, and developing a master calendar and chapter budget. However, you should recall that when we met with you in February, we emphasized the need for individual members to engage with Chapter Council to make deeper changes that reflect the shared values of our Fraternity. Issues that surfaced during the spring formal and subsequent Standards Committee interactions revealed the size of the gulf that continues to exist in this regard. As you are aware, the events of that April evening drew in the attention of the university administration. The Fraternity started a dialogue with Northwestern University about our shared concern for Upsilon Chapter. We are working together to determine ways to ensure the safety, health and well being of members. Let us be clear, the events of the spring formal do not erase the progress you have made and it does not alter the plan we have spelled out to achieve the hard and slow work of culture change. The Reproductive Hormone 17 Œí -estradiol ( E2 ) The reproductive hormone 17β estradiol (E2) is the main form of estrogen found in female has several functions; particularly it maintains the female reproductive system and acts as a component of metabolic processes. (6) Research has shown that E2 has effects in animal models in reducing anxiety as well as other depressive behaviors. (11) E2 can exert its effects via direct genomic action, but can also cause effects via indirect genomic action. The direct genomic action occurs through the utilization of two intracellular receptors for estrogen, estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and estrogen receptor beta (ERβ). ERα is thought to be involved with stimulatory processes, while ERβ is thought to be involved in inhibitory processes. (6) To test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (3) Introduction E2 uses its direct genomic effect to regulate gene expression throughout the brain. In its classical mechanism E2, or any other estrogen or estrogen like compound, will bind to the ERα or ERβ receptor forming a complex, which will then act as a transcription factor, which will either activate or inhibit specific genes by binding as a dimer directly to an estrogen response element (ERE). When E2 or other estrogens are not present, a heat shock protein inhibits potential activity. (6) E2 can also act through ERE independent mechanisms, or indirect genomic actions, such as activating multiple intracellular kinase cascades by binding to other membrane associated estrogen receptors (mER). (9) E2 specifically mediates behaviors and stress physiology in the hypothalamus by regulating central neural pathways. A large amount of these pathways passes through the arcuate nucleus (ARC) which strongly expresses ERα. (12) To analyze how both the ERE dependent and ERE independent pathways may affect stress behaviors it is necessary to utilize the mouse models mentioned previously. Methods and Materials Animal Models: Adult C57BL/6 mice were housed under constant photoperiod conditions (12/12 h light/dark cycle) and maintained at a controlled temperature (23 C). • 14. Theory of Operant Conditioning Theory of Operant Conditioning Instrumental conditioning, otherwise known as operant conditioning is a theory that B.F Skinner came up with and is defined as a learning process by which the consequence of an operant response affects the likelihood of the response recurring in the future. Basically, operant conditioning is a stimulus response prototype that when reinforced, conditions individuals or organisms response to a desired behavior (Huitt, W., Hummel, J., 1997) Our behaviors are shaped to be desirable or undesirable through reinforcements, punishment and extermination. Overall, operant conditioning is seen to be voluntary reaction that precedes the stimulus and the reinforcement. Classical conditioning is one of the techniques used in behavioral training. The process of classical conditioning works with the introduction of neutral stimuli before the original stimulus and the same reaction is elicited from the organism even without the presence of the original stimulus. The Pavlov dog salivated with every sight of food as the original stimulus for the salivation. When a neutral stimulus was introduced like a bell that was rang each time before it was fed, the dog started salivating at the ringing of the bell even before the food was availed. He expresses these emotions in the track Momma, where he states how he knows everything about life, but goes on to realize that after reaching stardom, he may be out of touch with his roots and all he knew. Throughout the rest of To Pimp A Butterfly, we find out he felt lost in the cocoon a metaphor for the grasp media has on society, and desperately began to cling to his true identity as a way to break free from the cocoon s bounds. Eventually, Kendrick emerges as a butterfly, wanting to return home and teach all the caterpillars what he learned. For Kendrick, African American oppression and Compton s black on black crime is at the forefront of his frustration, and a prime inspiration for his need to teach the community about working together. On the track simply called I , a live recording, Kendrick is heard calling out to a crowd to join together. Unfortunately, his message seems to initially fall on deaf ears. • 21. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardized Writing System Writing has constituted an important practice in human culture since the earliest forms of writing were discovered from cave paintings made 40,000 years ago. Writing enables writers to express themselves in a writing system that conveys unique features of its associated culture. In this context, writing means a standardized system for recording, in a specific language, content ranging from values to ideas to poems, etc. Humans have communicated in thousands of languages throughout history and consequently devised numerous different writing systems for expressing those languages. To facilitate easier communication, it has sometimes been suggested that the world adopt a single writing system capable of representing all languages. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an over optimistic and naïve argument, however, for at least three reasons. Most particularly, a standardized writing system might seem ideal, but it cannot overcome the enormous difficulties brought about by requiring the world s citizens to learn a new writing system. This is because learning writing systems is very challenging, laborious and time consuming (Tzeng Wang, 1983); this is even more the case for adult learners, who might anyway see little benefit and much disadvantage from the additional financial expense of learning a new writing system when they are already expert users of their written language. A second reason why a universal writing system is ill advised is because languages are living things that evolve slowly over time; there never can be a standard writing system while cultures are continually developing new forms of expression. This can be seen from the fact that the Chinese writing system has already undergone several evolutions over the centuries. Thirdly, the argument for standardizing a writing system is naïve because it entails controversial political decisions. No doubt the powerful nations of the East would prefer a logographic or a syllabic writing system while their Western counterparts would prefer an alphabetic writing system. Each side would therefore favour its existing writing system to minimize disruption and to ensure forms of cultural hegemony. Although Descartes claims of the body s necessary existence follows from the cogito if the mind exists, then it must exist in contrast to other, external things I presume that both Spinoza and Leibniz would take the opportunity to point out that Descartes presupposes the existence of the god that necessarily created his body and mind before speculating on whether or not his body and mind exist. Nice claim, bad explanation. Spinoza s staunch, pantheistic monist view of the world establishes that the mind and body are not separate entities in themselves, but only two of an infinite amount of attributes of the same and only substance in existence God. One can relate this reasoning to two attributes of a red hot poker red and hot. Does this entail that red and hot are always dependent on a poker and that they are in essence the same thing? Although this is not a likely conclusion, Spinoza raises the important question of how far we can analytically separate parts of a world that are always interacting with each other. Try getting a metal poker to glow red without heating it, or heating a poker without eventually having it glow red. This is improbable, albeit possible in theory. The mind and body may be two separately identifiable things, but one will more than likely find the two cooperating with each other as attributes of the natural world. Such cooperation ... • 23. Literary Analysis Of Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman A Sorrowful (and now dead) Woman OR The Good (and now dead) Housewife OR The Life and Death of the World s Best Mom Gail Godwin s Sorrowful Woman develops the message that the archetypal role of mother and wife is so constricting and limiting as to force the mother character to end her life. The end of the story demonstrates the power of rhetoric, contrast, and detached narration in creating the text s message. A Sorrowful Woman features a superficially simple narration style. Now the days were too short. She was always busy, Stylistically clipped, with a clear passive, detached, voice the narration style seems to be a banal, unimportant feature of the text. Yet the exact mendacity that prompts this description actually serves as a prerequisite to developing an understanding for the principal character s mindset, and consequently the theme of the text. The last passage contains numerous examples of detached narration but the clearest occurs when She was always busy. She woke with the first bird. Worked till the sun set. No time for hair brushing. Her fingers raced the hours. The concise, third person narration in this segment allows the reader to experience the slightly off viewpoint of the mother. Specifically, given the lack of motivation present through the text coupled with the concluding suicide it becomes evident in the text that the mother is suffering from depression. Given the societal stigma surrounding mental illness authors generally face an uphill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, Central Europe and the Middle East are different linguistically, religiously, and historically. Was there any actual basis for President Obama s comparison? Or was this speech another instance of a politician making a grand generalization to prove a point? The religious support that the Solidarity movement possessed cannot be overlooked. On the protestor s side, it s easy to fight for your rights when you know that God supports you. On the other hand, it s difficult for the government to fight against a religious institution that has such powerful influence over the people. Pope John Paul II, originally a Polish citizen named Karol Wojtyla, played a key role in not only broadcasting the Solidarity movement to the world, but also by giving the Solidarity movement a pseudo divine right to exist . In 1978, Karol Wojtyla was elected to be the first non Italian pope since the 1500s . Thus began the attention that he drew not only from the international Catholic community, but the international community in general. The improvement of technology, transportation, and communication means that in the last century businesses, governments, and people are being drawn into greater proximity with one another. As a result, the notion of civil society is slowly being challenged because state borders are no longer containers of society , meaning that the state is no longer a fixed unit of sovereign space (Agnew, 59). Globalization is a key concept that engenders a set of terms that embody it. Terms like interconnection, interdependence, liberalization, etc make us think of a global situation that is marked by intense interaction and interdependence between country units (Scholte, 237). Therefore, global civil society is what defines relations and social connections in a globalized world where territorial location, territorial distance, and territorial borders do not have a determining influence because the idea of place as territorially fixed is diminishing (Scholte, 237). An important concept of civil society is its influence on civic activity on a domestic scale and the influence that activity has on the organization of national politics. A large reason why the development of global civil society occurred was in response to the changing political environment as a result of globalization. According to Scholte, new geography has ended the state s effective monopoly on governance that developed under conditions of territorialism (241). In other words, in the new post sovereign world policies and administration does not adequately reflect citizenship and democracy because these ideals no longer center around the state. This tragic exploitation of a resource is largely promoted by the fact that property rights in the lagoon are not well defined (Rossetto, 2000; Nunes, Silvestri, Pellizzato, Boatto, 2008; Longo, 2003). This paper will investigate the failure of current policies in the Venetian lagoon to promote a sustainable yield, and aims to discover what variables of a successful common property regime are missing from the Venetian case. The issue of common property regimes in Italy has been approached previously by multiple economists. Casari and Plott (2003), and McKean and Ostrom (1995) have investigated common property in the context of the unique case of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, a forestry operation in northern Italy and successful common property regime which despite being a different resource is faced with many of the same risks and struggles as those faced by regulators of the lagoon. Conversely, Longo (2003) and Rossetto (2000) have addressed the failures of the current system in the lagoon. To add to the analysis, this paper will synthesize this research to define what makes common property regimes such as the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme capable of sustainably producing, while the regime in the Venetian Lagoon ultimately results in devastating overfishing. The downside of purebreds is some breeds are predisposed to certain disorders. Like for boxers, it s tumors, often malignant (cancerous). Or how dalmatians can sometimes be deaf. It s actually fairly uncommon for a dalmatian to have complete hearing in both ears, I think it s like a 1 in 4 chance. It s actually from the explosion of breeding needed after the 101 Dalmatians movie came out, fun fact. Anyway, my point is that purebreds often have disorders already in their genes. There s this guy, Bellumori, who studied the lifespans of 27 28 thousands dogs for over a decade. Pure breeds and mixed breeds. He worked with some DVMs for a piece in one of American Veterinary Medical Association s monthly medical journals in June of 2013. So this guy tracked the occurrence of 24 different disorders in the course of 15 years. Everything from cardiac disorders, to epilepsy. Cancers to allergies. Of these 24, 10 of them didn t have any correlation between mix and pure. Thirteen of them, were more prevalent in purebreds. There was only one disorder that was more common in mixes, and that was ligament rupture. And ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam and Eve fell short and disobeyed the rule that God gave them. Sin entered the world through humanity and tainted the relationship we had with Him and the creation as a whole. Although humanity has been the conduit of destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation through humanity. God s threefold plan to restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel, depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the church seeking out to join Heaven and Earth. God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He will make of [Abraham] a great nation. At this point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity mounted towards a path of self destruction. By Genesis 11, in the story of the tower of Babel, God seems dissatisfied with humankind and makes it difficult to communicate among one another. The story of Abraham gives hope that God will make a great nation from a man, whom is just as impure as the rest of humanity. God continues his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She hugged herself tightly and watched them with wide eyes. If the soldiers up there looked down into the thick tangle of roots , he would see the light colored rag of her T shirt. Rain had formed a small creek at the base of the tree, and the murky water was up to Chantrea s waist. Her torn jeans did little to protect her and she felt something long and slimy brush by her thin legs. Her heart began to pound and her stomach twisted. She was terrified that if the creature bit her, she would scream and alert the soldier. To her relief, the unseen animal went on its way, just as the snake had done. Perhaps it only saw her as another root of the tree. The characters and dialogue are believable. Strong The plot engages my interest.
