Patricia Art Museum
The Patricia Phillip Frost Art Museum located in the Florida International University (FIU) campus is
a major cultural institution and has been opened since 1977. The building has three floors and several
galleries to display numerous art works. In the first floor there is a gallery exclusively for kids. Here
you can find all sorts of art stations to have kids develop and explore their creative and artistic side.
The second floor is dedicated to the traveling exhibits; during the visit of this paper the museum had
two traveling/special exhibits in display. One of the exhibits was by the Cuban artist Carlos Luna,
Green Machine and the other by a traveling photographer Richard Saxton, Creole World. In the third
floor of the museum there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard demonstrated the uniqueness and similarities found from major cities like New Orleans,
Ecuador, Panama, Columbia and Argentina. Added to his photography trip were also major towns like
Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago in Cuba and Cap Haitien, Port au Prince, and Marigot in Haiti.
All of Richard s exhibits where of pictures taken of a trip but the most significant of all was that of a
portrait 24 x36 which consisted of a modern 25 story building that covered the portrait from top to
bottom and edge to edge. The building was the Edificio Focsa in a Varadero Neighborhood in Cuba. In
front of this massive modern building was a three story white building in ruins. Here you can see right
through it since there were no windows or doors and partial walls standing. This was an impressive
view of how modernism overwhelms the original colonial heritage architecture.
A piece of art work that can be considered as a piece to include in any home would have to be the
work done by John Sanchez, (United States, b. 1973). In his oil on canvas called A Wanted
Melancholy, 2007 depicts a night life intersection after a rain fall. As you look up close, all you see are
smudges of oil paint and colors no real detail but as you stand back the details appear. Reflection from
the street lights on the wet streets and the light from the cars shinning on the street together with the
window lights from the building above are what make this artwork come to

Everlost Character Analysis
In the novel Everlost, Allie is the main protagonist. She is a strong willed, goal oriented girl who takes
risks living her afterlife in Everlost which shows that any problems she encounters will not stop her
from doing what she needs to do. Allie is a bit strong headed but also very independent although, her
choices may never be the best. Her main goal is to find a way out of the limbo world between life and
death known as Everlost to get where you re meant to go . Mary Hightower is a self proclaimed expert
that has given herself the status as being the mother of the many children stuck in the afterlife
welcoming them with open hands. At the beginning, she seems to be a good character as the story
proceeds, she s shown to be neutral and towards the end she becomes the antagonist. When Nick,
Allie, and Lief first encounter Mary she appears to be just a leader to the Afterlights retaining them
from harm and making sure their delighted. Allie later notices that Mary is selfish keeping the children
in an endless loop and would sacrifice anything to keep them from going in peace and is constantly
competing with Nick. Nick aka the Chocolate Ogre referred by Mary due to the chocolate on his face
that will last for eternity is the second most important character. He is somewhat self absorbed and
emotionless and more of a follower than Allie but is committed to stand up for the people he cares
about even if it means going against his rather obvious crush on Mary. He later discovers that Everlost
isn t meant to be lived in for an unending time and makes it his responsibility to free all the children
that are no longer needed to be in the limbo. He goes in battle against Mary who she tries to keep all
Afterlights to live with her in Everlost and in an endless cycle but his plan is to send all children s
spirts to be at peace and away to where they need to go. Lief is a good hearted, quirky 11 year old boy
who has been living in a burned down forest in Everlost for quite some time and is the first person
Nick and Allie meet when they wake up. In an instant Allie decides to call him Lief since he couldn t
remember his own name and was surrounded by the woodland. He follows them throughout the novel
and manages to

Approaching Nathaniel Hawthorne Insight
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote one of the most studied short story in literature, Young Goodman Brown .
This short story is widely use because of the deep meaning and strong internal attachment it has with
the reader. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem, Massachusetts his family had been early settlers,
one of his great grandfather was a judge during the Salem witch trials and had twenty five women
killed. Hearing his great grandfather talk about this subject made Hawthorne both obsessed and a little
ashamed for what his family has done during the Salem witch trials. Hawthorne put those feelings into
his stories which in reality explore what the events that happened in the puritans life style. As stated
before Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem, Massachusetts 1804, and his family were original
settlers to Salem since colonial times. Hawthorne s father died when he was four, (Approaching
literature 1388) Hawthorne then was raised by his mother until his gift was discovered. Later his
relatives recognized Hawthorne s literature talent and financed his education at Bowdoin College. At
Bowdoin College Hawthorne met Henry Wadswort, who would go to be a famous poet, and Franklin
Pierce, who would later on be the President of the United States. After graduating, Hawthorne lived at
home writing short tales and a novel, which he self published in 1828... (Approaching literature 1388).

team and the individuals in it will have no direction, nothing to aim for. Goals provide a focus and
purpose for action.
In this case we have to turn weaknesses into strengths and threats into opportunities and all this has to
be specific, tangible and measurable.
Examples of how managing risk that Nautilus Boat Hire could adopt:
Provide of life jacket to all crew of the boat.
Provide of guide service in every trip.
Restructure the boats to make their use easier. Buy boats with easier use.
Distributed to each passenger a pamphlet advising the use of protective sun cream and even offering to

My First Part Of The Combo
In the beginning of the year, from week one to week five, we began learning some of the warmups and
getting our body used to dance. I have never taken a dance class before so when I first entered the
classroom, I was a little intimidated. One of the first things we learned was a warm up combination.
The first part of the combo was where we had our right foot go forward, back to the other foot, side,
back to the other foot, back behind us, and then back to the original position while clapping at the end.
Then, we would repeat this process on the other side while trying to make your body not so stiff but
free flowing. Next, we repeated these two steps fastly and then turn after your foot would return with
the other foot. After that, we ran forward, lifting our arms and right leg up neighing , and then repeated
on the other side. We repeated both sides twice. Next, we went to our right side lifting our right leg up
and down on the floor while clapping moving sideways. After a few counts, we woulds lift our arms
diagonally to the floor, and fall back to the left side. We would repeat this process on the other side as
well. Additionally, we would do the octagon with our feet going back and forward. Once that was
done, we would run to the right side and then run back to do the other side again. Lastly, we did the
octagon dance again, running, and instead of turning back, we would go into the retire position and
turn slightly to the front of the room. Last, we would repeat on the

The As A Progressive Series Of Our Time
Bones can be considered a progressive series of our time. It is a forensic anthropologist called
Dr.Temperance Brennan. She is a woman that solves murders with her team at the Jeffersonian. Her
partner is called Agent Booth from the FBI. The TV series can be described as being sexist yet
Misogyny. In this paper, I will deconstruct each character with sociological lenses. It will analyze how
each character reacts to others and events. It will demonstrate how the show has objectified women
and justified objection among strong female characters. The main character of the show,
Dr.Temperance Brennan, is represented as a profoundly intelligent and knowledgeable woman who
has a robot like and emotionless attitude throughout all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She receives support from her co workers and associates when she describes the issues affecting
women. For instance, in season 2 episode 13 a producer refers to Temperance as a feminist crusader
out to ruin the all American fun! while getting close, she punches him and states Self defense; he
assaulted me. Sully, her colleague, responds Yes, he did. Dr.Temperance Brennan also argues on how
producers view women as objects as seen in figure 3. She is also very independent and makes it clear
she does not belong to anyone (see Figure 4). Temperance is an independent woman who makes it
clear on several occasions that she challenges the gender norms.
The second main character is Seeley Booth a typical FBI agent. Booth embodies all norms of
masculinity to which men strive and does not challenge the hegemonic male. He is depicted as a tough
guy. As James lull describes in hegemony is the power or dominance that one social group hold over
others (Lull,1995). Booth is male dominance over women, and his gut holds more valued than
Dr.Temperance Brennan countless degrees and years of schooling. In the show, he has saved the day
on many occasions. Seeley Booth is always seen as the hero of the show even if Dr.Temperance
Brennan did all the analytical work. By being the hero, he is claiming his dominance over Dr.
Brennan. The voice of reason is always Agent Booth, despite the fact Dr.Temperance Brennan is more
qualified. Booth is

Color Imagery In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin
The Russian art theorist Wassily Kandinsky once said that Color is a power which directly influences
the soul. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to evoque very different
types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than what they are actually used
for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical dystopian novel We, which was published
in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a work of literature that uses color imagery. The
dystopia within this book, United State is set 200 years in the future, in a totalitarian world that has
total control over their citizens lives, who are called numbers. The readers get to know this society
through the perspective of D 503, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and rebellion,
which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to suppress. One of
the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the second main female
character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest. The first time I 330 s
association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D 503 visited I 330 for the first
time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society that is not made out of glass. In this
scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short, bright yellowish dress, black hat, black
stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this scene is a relic from ancient times, before the
Green Wall was built and two hundred year war occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a
very big impression on him because it was the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the
primitive world. This interaction with her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and
mentions the color yellow, when I 330 is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something
against the state. I 330 is the only character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As
portrayed in Record Seventeen, while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one
of its mystery corridor and he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that
excused him from work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile
bite, the eyes with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient
world in the same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color
that takes on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it.

Some of the direct consequences for these courts, is that sometimes the goal for certain cases don t
always come out how some people want it to come out. For instance, everybody may not agree on the

that sometimes the cases have to go through certain levels of the courts system and it takes a long
process. The most important courts that should be the most consideration is the Supreme Court and
Courts of Appeals. These courts are also the most effectiveness. These two conflicting attributes can
best be balanced by the levels and how the handle certain cases. They are both big courts because the
Supreme Court is the first level and then the Court of Appeals is the second level so the of them tie in
together of handling big cases. All together the court system is very important and goes into the

Valium Abuse Prescription Drug
Valium is a medicine commonly used for treatment of various degrees of anxiety, but it is also one of
the most commonly abused prescription drugs. Valium has an interesting history, and is an easily
accessible drug, which makes it a commonly abused drug. People prescribed Valium, those who use it
for medicinal purposes only, will remain harmfree from the effects of drug abuse. Once a person
becomes addicted it is very hard for them to stop. There are multiple negative effects on those who

The Treatment Of Psychiatric Drugs
The Use of Psychiatric Drugs To Treat Children
Statistics determine that seventeen million children in the world have been prescribed psychiatric
medications for mental illnesses or disorders ( Facts and Statistics ). In a society where one in four
people suffer from a mental illness, it s disturbing to find that many of these people are children.
Many of these children will never have the opportunity to live normally without being under the
influence of a drug. After taking a position as a lead teacher for a two year old classroom, it s
disheartening to hear that children as young as eighteen months old are being prescribed psychiatric
medication. One can imagine how severe the physical, mental, emotional, and social impact would be

These drugs are generally prescribed when a person is diagnosed with a mental illness such as
Schizophrenia, Depression, or Attention Deficit Disorder. The sudden rise in number of mental illness
diagnoses has led to a rapid increase in the number of prescriptions recommended to patients. Sadly,
many of these patients are children who are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depression. According to Erica Goode, studies indicate that
pediatricians and child psychiatrists , are frequently leaning towards the use of psychotropic
medication as the treatment of choice for an assortment of mental illnesses and disorders (Goode,
Study Finds Jump in Children Taking Psychiatric Drugs ). This acknowledgement solidifies the
unsettling norm of children taking prescription drugs daily in an effort to mask their behaviors. Instead
of using numerous methods of teaching and parenting to counteract unpleasant or hyperactive
behavior, professionals have now employed a different approach by using medicalization to treat
emotional and behavioral problems (Mcleod et. al, 54). The problem with this approach is that the
behavior is never actually addressed. Instead it s medicated causing children to become zombies or
robots rather than living, breathing, human beings, with genuine thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
In addition to the strange increase in the use of psychiatric drugs to treat children, there are also
several side

A Brief Note On The Area Of Engine Position Management
1.1. Objective and Goal of the Project The project is done in the area of engine position management
which is used in gasoline 4 stroke engines. During the development of device drivers for the engine, it
is very important to test each and every feature of the device driver. Before going to the vehicle testing
or software integration, the device driver software has to be tested completely. For this purpose, mini
test benches can be used. This test setup should provide the necessary input signals to the driver
software which is to be tested. The main input signals needed for the testing includes crank sensor and
cam sensor signals. These signals help us to determine the crank and cam wheel positions and also
calculate the engine speed at which the engine is running at that particular time. The existing mini test
bench allows the engine speed information to be changed manually. The actual engine speed dynamics
in the real engine/vehicle cannot be simulated. They are not capable of changing the engine speed in a
specific pattern driven over time. They are not cost effective. The objective of this project comes from
disadvantages of the existing test equipments. The main aim is to create a mini test bench setup to
generate Cam and Crank Signals. The Setup should be able to allow testing of device driver software
without the need of Vehicle. It should allow engine speed to change manually. The setup should allow
the engine speed variation in a pre defined pattern without the

Overcoming Fear In Rikki-Tavi, By Rudyard Kipling
Blake Lively once said, The most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence. Have you ever had the
confidence to do something unpredictable? Last year I was terrified of going to sea and when my dad
asked if I wanted to go fishing with him, I had the confidence to say yes. The theme of the fictional
story Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is that confidence overcomes fear. Rikki Tikki is a leader in
this story. Darzee, if you have a grain of sense, you will fly off to the stables and pretend that your
wing is broken and let Nagaina chase you away to this bush. I must get to the melon bed, and if I went
there now, she d see me (Pg 15). This demonstrates that he is a leader because he orders Darzee to

care about their families. This proves my thesis because she had the confidence to turn around and see
her last egg between her enemies paws. Nagaina saw that she had lost her chance of killing Teddy, and
the egg lay between Rikki tikki s paws. Give me the egg, Rikki tikki. Give me the last of my eggs, and
I will go away and never come back, she said, lowering her hood (Pg 18). This proves that Nagaina is
a trickster because she will raise the baby corba and when it is fully grown they will come back and
attack the family. This character trait is similar to Rikki because he tricks Nagina to save Timmy s life.
It also proves my thesis because she has the confidence to talk to Rikki without getting angry. Rikki

and rehabilitating juvenile offenders since the very early 1900s. Reports showed that even in 1912,
that rehabilitation had been working and recidivism was decreasing. The report of the Cook County
Juvenile Detention Center Chief Probation Officer in 1912, shows that in the course of successive
years, beginning with 1912, there had been a continuous decrease in the number of children sent to
institutions. For instance, in 1912, 1913, 1914, 1915 and 1916, the number of children sent to
institutions have been as follows respectively: 1422, 1200, 1154, 1044 and 975. Furthermore, since

The Invention Of Hugo Cabaret By Brian Selznick
The Invention Of Hugo Cabaret Image Evaluation The invention of Hugo Cabaret, an award winning
book by Brian Selznick. In a successful attempt to create a movie/book feeling, he replaced 158 pages
of words with pictures. This picture, depicted on pages 118 119, caught my eye because it effectively
contributes to the development of the narrative. It relates to Hugo s father, who is a minor character,
but the picture perfectly correlates with the description provided in the pages. This image is a
flashback from Hugo s mind. It shows that Hugo s father, can t stop thinking about the automaton
even at work. In the picture, Selznick has cleverly managed to convey the mood of Hugo s father.
Selznick produces this by using, body language and facial expression, which is my first criteria. He
draws the character to show that Hugo s father is absorbed in what he is doing, which shows his
passion towards his job and the automaton. His body language is portrayed in the way he handles the
mechanical part in his hands. As you can see he is handling the part delicately indicating that it is
fragile. This also shows that Hugo s father is a very skilled but kind and caring person. ... Show more

the right place because it perfectly, correlates with the text. It also adds extra meaning to the words

need the proper coordination of all possible inputs required to carry out the task successfully. One of
such inputs is the project management maturity model which allows for improvement of project
management processes and systems (Crawford, 2006). Project management maturity is the progressive
development of an enterprise wide project management approach, methodology, strategy, and decision
making process. The appropriate level of maturity will vary for each organization based on specific
goals, strategies, resource capabilities, scope, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such positioning is possible with strategic management because this process improves preparedness
for unexpected internal or competitive demands. Therefore, an organizational strategy is an all
encompassing approach for formulating, implementing and evaluating managerial decisions in a way
that permits the business to reach its objectives. For an organizational strategy to be successful,
however, the organization should:
Clearly see the need for change
Be firmly committed to the idea of changing the business planning process
Assure that the strategic management process has credibility with everyone involved
Make sure that final plans are realistic and reflect actual resources and capabilities
Train all participants in the procedures essential to the strategic management process
Develop concise and well organized plans One of such strategy is the implementation of Six Sigma
methodology in the organization. Six Sigma is a methodology that combines the gradual and
continuous improvement with radical redesign. The process of Six Sigma begins by measuring the
statistical variability within a process. This means that the causes of error can only be determined if
you understand the critical requirement of either the internal or external customer. Six Sigma
processes are designed to reduce process variability. Six Sigma helps the organization to achieve
improved process flows and better

The Natural Health Products Industry
The Natural Health Products Industry.
The natural health products industry is a massive part of the New Zealand economy, and brings a lot
of income to the country. With New Zealand natural health products continuing to gain popularity
overseas, particularly in Australia, North America and Asia as well as right here in our own country,
the industry is continuing to grow and grow (Natural Products New Zealand, 2016). In this report I
will cover a number of topics regarding the natural health products industry in New Zealand including
the sales history of the industry, the major competitors in the industry, environmental influences, and
then identify possible target markets for EnzyHealth, a hypothetical company which operates in the
natural health industry in New Zealand. There are many different opinions on what exactly the Natural
Health Products Industry actually includes. For the purpose of this report I have taken the basis of the
definition from the Natural Health and Supplementary Products Bill which was developed in New
Zealand in 2011 and has since been updated. Natural health and supplementary product means any
product that is [...] or appears to be, manufactured for human use and for the primary purpose of
bringing about a health benefit to the person who uses the product. (Natural Health and
Supplementary Products Bill 2011, No. 324 2)
There are many sectors, but one of the main ones of the NZ natural products health Industry is

Mgm Vs Grokster Case Summary
MGM v. Grokster (2005)
Supreme Court of the United States
Facts: Grokster, Ltd. and another company, StreamCast Networks Inc, created software that allowed
users to share electronic files through a series of peer to peer networks on computers without using a
central server. This software allowed users to share any type of digital file, but most people used the
software to share and distribute copyright music and video files without permission of the copyright
holders, which was encouraged by the software companies. As a response a group of movie studies
and other copyright holders sued Grokster and StreamCast for the infringement on their copyrights,
arguing that the software companies were knowingly and intentionally using their software ... Show

Plaintiff Argued: MGM s argument was focused mostly on the fact that Grokster was aware that the
users of their software use it primarily to share. And download copyrighted content. Another argument
that MGM used was that when the defendant began to distribute their software, they heavily marketed
the fact that it could be used to download and share copyrighted content, and beyond even the
marketing they would encourage their users to download and share copyrighted content.
Defendant Argued: Grokster and StreamCast argued in court that they distributed free software that
allowed users to use peer to peer networks to distribute and share electronic files. The basis of the
argument for the defendants was the Betamax decision (Sony v. Universal City Studios), which set the
precedent that making copies of tv shows did not infringe upon a copyright when it was done with the
intention of time shifting. They also argued that their peer to peer network could by used for things
other than copyrighted work like, public domain works and music willingly shared. They also argued
that ruling against them would prevent the use of other peer to peer software, and thusly would

Human Systems And Climate Change Essay
IPCC Human Systems and Climate Change Overview
Kristen Morgan
California State University, Bakersfield
Human Systems and Climate Change
For the last decade, climate change has been a controversial topic amongst governing nations.
Determining and agreeing upon appropriate courses of action, as well as the decided effects on
populations and ecosystems have also long been debated. With little knowledge on the effects climate
change might have on the human population, as well as our ability (or inability) to adapt, governing
bodies look towards the IPCC, or Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, for information
regarding possible risks and impacts from climate change.

The TSU can also assist in preparing the Synthesis Report associated with its respective Assessment
Report. Each of the three Working groups and Task Force work to answer specific questions and
provide publications summarizing findings. All the gathered materials are composed into the final
Synthesis Report. All reports must go through two different formal reviews prior to publication.
Published in the Fourth Assessment, Working Group I identified notable understanding of noticeable
human induced climate change and current Greenhouse Gas data. One of the most notable points from
this publication was the changes in temperature and sea level from 1961 to 1990. As seen in the figure
below (Changes, 2007), surface temperature is rising, average sea level is rising, and snow cover over
the Northern Hemisphere is dropping. When comparing the data with previous centuries using the
Paleoclimatic Perspective, it is noted that this change is rather unusual and has not been observed to
have occurred previously. Working Group II published their work in the Fourth Assessment focused
on the effect of climate change on human systems, as well as the ability of these systems to adapt to
changes. Also published in the Fourth Assessment, Working Group III discusses policies to assist in
mitigation of climate change.

Weaknesses Of Dracula
Count His Powers, Count His Weaknesses Is a vampire a sinister blood sucking monster, or is a
vampire an attractive teenager who sparkles? Dracula was written in 1897 and is the first piece of
literature that includes vampires and sets up the characteristics of future vampires. Dozen of works of
literature has been created based off of the creature in Dracula for example the novel Twilight and as
time goes on literature has tweaked some of the vampire s traits, powers and weaknesses. Dracula is a
gothic novel with gothic elements such as a decaying setting and supernatural beings or monsters.

Heidelberger gives the illusion that Dracula in fact looks undead meaning decaying. These
characteristics are widely know, just like the powers of a vampire. Stoker s novel Dracula also
outlined the supernatural powers that a vampire possesses. Van Helsing states, He can, within his
range, direct the elements: the storm, the fog, the thunder; he can command all the meaner things: the
rat, and the owl, and the bat the moth, and the fox, the wolf (Stoker 237). Van Helsing, the vampire
expert in the novel tells some key powers that the vampire Dracula has which is the ability to control
weather and the ability to command animals such as: rats, owls, bats, moths, foxes and wolves. When
Van Helsing is talking about Dracula s powers he also says, he can grow and become small; and he
can at times vanish and come unknown (237). These powers are shapeshifting and teleportation.
Shapeshifting is the ability to change into whatever shape and size that the person who obtain this
power wants to, and teleportation is the ability to teleport from place to place. In Allan Johnson s
article Modernity and Anxiety in Bram Stoker s Dracula he says, While Dracula can transform into
mist and summon bloodthirsty wolves, these powers prove to be poorly matched against the new
technologies and conveniences of everyday life in England (Johnson 5). Johnson is saying how even

Analysis Of. Eliot s Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
In T.S. Eliot s Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock invites the reader on a journey with him
through his story of love, or love that never was. He speaks to the reader as his love lost and asks her
to stick with him on his journey through time, to learn why their love never transpired. He begins by
showing her his decisions as a young adult, optimistic and confident in time, to prepare for her. Time
goes by, he is now middle aged and insecure of his appearance, now in fear of her rejection and unsure
if he has missed his window. Nearing the end of the poem he has grown older still, having wasted all
time, knowing now that his love story will never be, he is ready to show his lost love, why. Young
Adult Prufrock begins as lite hearted and carefree. He invites his love on a walk at dusk through the
sleazy streets of their town. Begging her not to question him just yet of where they are going, Oh do
not ask what is it let us go and make our visit. (Eliot) Prufrock is confident in time, comfortable in
procrastinating. There will be time, there will be time, to prepare a face to meet the faces that you
meet; there will be time to murder and create; and time for all the works and days of hands that lift and
drop a question on your plate: time for you and time for me, (Eliot) Looking further into the text here,
it leaves the impression that he is stringing the love along, expecting her to wait until he is ready,
assuming that she will always be there when he decides

A Scandal In Bohemia
Introduction:
The story pulled from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes published 1892 by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, a detective capable of solving even the hardest of mysteries. In A
Scandal in Bohemia Holmes helps the King in retrieving an item from a previous relationship he had
that ended unpleasantly. Although this was a mystery detective story, it was much more than that.
Doyle hid within the text underlying problems during his time to help realize the faults in society.
Summary:
A Scandal in Bohemia tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, the greatest detective of his time solves the
aspersion of the soon to be married King of Bohemia. Watson pays Sherlock a visit at his home. As

A Scandal in Bohemia takes the stance on showing the distinction between social class and the way
women were treated. Social class was a problem and still is to this day. The separation of the rich and
poor detached the people and left them in two separate worlds. The story intermingles the King of
Bohemia with a middle class woman named Irene Adler. This affair turned bad when he left her for a
Scandinavian princess, so he wouldn t be shunned for marrying a woman of lower class. Even with
him loving her, all because she was of middle class he would and could not see a future with her. But
the other problem lies with the treatment of women. The viewing down on them because of their
gender bias. Now in our time, we can see the big change in how women were treated, but during the
time Sherlock Holmes was written, this was relevant in his stories. We see this scattered in the story as
Irene Adler, the female protagonist is viewed as less to the characters but is proven as the best plans of
Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit. (Doyle 13) It s obvious to include this story as
an outlet to show the wrongdoings of his time. For this, it allows readers to see what s erroneous and
know what is happening around them. This is the reason this story is more developed than just a

all time high with the number rising to 10,000 black market operations occurring annually (Gianotti).
This equates to more than one transplant operation per hour with thousands of people being tricked or
forced (whether by situation or poverty) into selling their organs for money or even having them
stolen. China has a high rate of all forms of human trafficking that is continuing to rise as a gradually

Dementia is a type of disorder that affects the central nervous system. It s not a disease itself but a
group of symptoms that characterize disease and conditions. It s commonly defined as a decline in

It causes significant loss of intellectual abilities, such as memory capacity, severe enough to interfere

Treatment for Dementia requires the patient to be under constant medical care. Most families are
responsible for taking care of the patient day to day. Medical focus should be on optimizing the
individual s health and quality of life, while helping the family cope with the many challenges that
occur with taking care of the patient. The medical care of the patient also depends on the underlying
condition which often consists of medications and non drug treatments such as behavioral therapy. If
the Dementia is related to a hypothyroidism, treatment would be thyroid hormone replacement.
Currently there are few medications on the market that have been shown to help, a bit. Dementia is
difficult to prevent because what causes it is unknown. People who have vascular Dementia may be
able to prevent future declines by lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke. As with most illness
the best way to try to prevent it is to stay healthy and take care of yourself by eating right, exercising
regularly, and not smoking. Following those guidelines should help keep blood pressure down and
reduce risk of stroke. Also in older people who are affected by Dementia more than younger people,
staying involved socially and learning are two more good ways to help to stay alert. It is also a good

The Importance Of Curriculum Based Assessment
Curriculum based assessment (CBA) is an assessment process that links curriculum content with
assessment. The purposes for CBA is to cultivate effective lesson plans, evaluate students
development in the curriculum, and to determine eligibility (source 1). CBA helps teachers and other

CBA is often used as a frequent measure to determine if changes should be made in curriculum or the

The Importance Of The Parent-Child Relationship
The parent s predominate and most important role within the parent child relationship is the role of
teacher. A parent is the main socializing agent. He or she teaches personal integrity, self determination,
interpersonal skills, and core values from an early age (book). Primary parenting functions include
ways of interacting with children to meet their needs (Bigner Gerhardt, 2014). The initial lessons that
parents share with their children are taught with the hopes of them becoming inherent. Although the
lessons parents teach may evolve based upon the developmental age of their children, the
responsibilities of parents remain. From the time children are born, parents are held accountable for
the socialization of their children as well as meeting their physical and basic needs, supporting the
child emotionally, and communicating with them (Bigner Gerhardt, 2014).
The Parent Child Relationship Over the Life Course Over the life course, children will develop and
grow as the essential encouragement and support evolves as they mature. Parents must be able to
adapt their relationships to continue to provide the support their children require. Several theories can
be applied to understand the parent child relationship, some describing the changes in the relationship
over time (Bigner Gerhardt, 2014). The Developmental Interaction Theory describes the six stages
experienced by families in the evolution of one s parenthood role observed in individuals as they grow

Essay on Virtue as Habit
Virtue as Habit
The aim of this essay is to examine the following question. Does it make a difference in moral
psychology whether one adopts Aristotle s ordinary or Immanuel Kant s revisionist definition of virtue
as a moral habit? Suppose it is objected, at the outset, that these definitions cannot be critically
compared because their moral theories are, respectively, aposteriori and apriori, and so
incommensurable. Two points of commensurability and grounds for comparative evaluation are two
basic problems that any theory in moral psychology must address. They are moral ignorance (I don t
know what I ought to do) and weakness (I don t do what I know I ought to do).(1)
In the Nicomachean Ethics (hereafter Ethics), Aristotle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . uniformity of action which by frequent repetition has
become a necessity, then it is not a skill proceeding from
freedom and accordingly not a moral skill (66).
Further, inner freedom is a rational self control which enables one to subdue one s emotions and to
govern one s passions (67). Essential here is his claim that a virtue is not a free skill unless it is a free
act of a moral will which in adopting a rule also declares it to be a universal law (66 67). Kant s
concept of willing (i) freely and (ii) universally leads to his revisionist definition of virtue as moral
habit.
The key to (i) is to be found in his insistence on the cognitive certainty of the following metaphysical
thesis. Even if the phenomenal self is completely determined causally, the moral self is free because it
is noumenal (see the Critique of Practical Reason 28 34, 43 52, 55 59, 100 106; hereafter Practical
Reason). He claims that the noumenal self is a cause imminent in experience because it is an efficient
cause through Ideas (50). In short, Kant rejects the formation of moral habits through repetition in
order to protect radically the freedom of the moral agent from phenomenal and scientific determinism.
The key to (ii) is Kant s rejection of Aristotle s following advice. Since the cognitive results of a kind
of reasoning is determined by its subject matter, it is foolish to require of moral reasoning the certainty
and precision one can expect

Atomic waste is to be saved in profound geographical stockpiling locales; it doesn t enter the

while stable synthetic waste, for example, arsenic or mercury, keeps going forever. Most fossil fuel
waste is as gas that goes up the smokestack. We don t see it, however it is not without impact, creating

Safe: Atomic force is protected, as demonstrated by the record of a large portion of a century of

been just two genuine mischances in the business abuse of atomic force: Three Mile Island in 1979 (in
Pennsylvania, USA) and Chernobyl in 1986 (in the Soviet Union, now in Ukraine). TMI was the most
exceedingly bad mischance one can envision in a western force reactor. The center of the reactor

Digital Screen Advantages And Disadvantages
Paper or plastic? was the often heard question from the bagger at the grocery store for many years, but
these days the bigger decision is whether to read words on paper or a digital screen. Paper has a long
and documented history, having been in use for over 2000 years, while the availability of the digital
screen has only come about in the past 50 years. Both paper and digital screens provide the same
fundamental function, an avenue for the written word to be conveyed and understood by a person.
While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen are fundamentally the same, using paper still
has a unique set of advantages such as the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of
proofreading, and the increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The
ability to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to consider
hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t change when having to
accomplish reading for a project or a research paper. The longer it takes the user to finish the reading,
the harder it becomes to accomplish the job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computer to
perform reading can be advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open
and be able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to perform
work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used to

Photography and The Gothic
The photographs taken by Terry Evans in the collection Heartland show a range of perspectives of the
Midwest prairie. Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the combination
of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray the transition of the
untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of the gothic transition come
from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows untouched nature that
gives a feeling of the sublime. It shows wide green expanses, bathed in warm light, that shows a raw
beauty and goodness created by nature. This feeling of the sublime is a major aspect of the gothic due
to its ability to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is
similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads
and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated
landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse
that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed.
The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the
Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers
to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in
The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw
hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of
the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of
their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is
residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic
picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work

The Problem Of The Viral Game Pokemon Go Essay
Introduction
Many times larger business engage in unintentionally advertising, or viral advertising, thus saving
money that can consequentially utilized for advertising to a specific market, market research, and the
actual advertisement placement. When someone uploads a video that goes viral on YouTube, Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram, or any other mainstream social media outlet, and the business is able to utilize
that video to springboard an advertising campaign hence, unintentional viral marketing. Yet sometimes
a viral sensation can help small or local businesses, such as in the case of the viral game Pokémon Go.
Many of the Poke stops are at geocache sites which many times are historic buildings, unique art, or
specialty shops. Does secondary unintentional viral marketing revive small businesses, or are the
financial effects such marketing short lived causing a potential financial crisis?
Statement of the Problem
Word of mouth or peer to peer advertising has gotten a high tech update over the years. As
smartphones, laptops, and tablets have become more affordable, advertisers have found new ways to
garner product awareness, product identity, and business awareness into the hands of virtually
everyone. Occasionally, there is marketing leak to small businesses which have been receiving an
increase in foot traffic due to viral game applications on smartphones.
Large company s product recognition that usually extends beyond Main Street, so if an advertisement

The History of Caterpillar Engines Essay
The History of Caterpillar Engines The start of Caterpillar engines actually begins before Caterpillar
was even a company. The history began back in the late1800 s when Daniel Best and Benjamin Holt
were experimenting with various forms of steam tractors used for farming. The two competed with
each other to gain the lead in the farm equipment industry. Throughout the late 1800 s and early 1900
s Holt and Best continued to build both steam and gas tractors. In 1908 Best sold his company to Holt.
In 1925 Holt Manufacturing and C. L. Best Gas Tractor, a company owned by Best s son C. L. Best,
merged to form Caterpillar Tractor Company. Three years later C. L. Best met with Carl George
Arthur Rosen to discuss putting diesel engines in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This housing then directs the compressed air into the engine. After the use of the turbocharger they
discovered a new problem. The compressed air was much hotter than normal air going into the engine.
The reason was that when the air is compressed it puts pressure on all the atoms. This causes the
atoms to hit each other, causing friction, and move even faster. These rapid movements cause a
massive amount of heat. This excess heat caused less oxygen to get to the cylinders which means a
loss of potential power. Our answer to this dilemma was the aftercooler. Aftercoolers are used to lower
the temperature of the air after it comes out of the turbo but before it enters the engine. By lowering
the temperature the air becomes denser and holds more oxygen. This increase in oxygen provides an
increase in power. There are three types of aftercoolers. The first is an Air to Air Aftercooler
(ATAAC). With the air to air system, a separate cooler core is placed in front of the engine. The engine
fan then passed outside air across the cooler. The outside air is much colder than the compressed air in
the cooler. This difference causes the compressed air to drop in temperature by losing its heat to the
outside air. This method is very common on most on highway trucks since they have access to a large
volume of fresh cool air. The second type of aftercooler is the Jacket Water Aftercooler

Theme Of Violence In Huck Finn
Violence can be described as a behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill
someone or something. Violence has been around from the beginning and can be seen through history
in writing and events that occurred. In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, violence s
jarring effects on societal members are evidenced through various relationships and partnerships,
portraying society s corrupt ideologies and ethics. Child abuse had a great on effect Huck s whether if
it had to do with where he is living or a decision he has made. Huck has been abused for most if not
all of his life by his father, Pap. Huck stated, I used to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so
much (17). This quote shows how Huck had to deal with Pap s abuse before and could not help
himself. It shows that Pap has poor ethics shown by beating his child simply because he can. This is
an immoral act on Pap s part because he believes he can control Huck s life including his life choices
and his possessions. Pap says, I ll take you down a peg, before I m done with you (17). Pap continues
to torment and threaten Huck even though he has not been around of the most recent parts of Huck s
life. Pap s ideologies have not changed since Huck was younger. Pap s ideals consist of being able to
do what he wants when he wants. This was apparent when he tries to threaten Huck and put himself
above Huck. In the 1800s community leaders felt responsible for helping orphaned or abandoned

What Is The Theme Of Romanticism In Giselle Ou Les Willise
The ballet Giselle ou Les Willis was premiered at the Paris Opera on the 28th of June, 1841. The ballet
follows the protagonist Giselle an innocent peasant who falls in love with Albrecht the Duke of
Silesia, passing as a villager. When Giselle uncovers the truth behind Albrecht deceits she dies of a
broken heart and is transformed into a Willi, a supernatural being that has been left at the alter. Giselle
was created in the period known as the Romantic Era, which was named due to the influence of
romanticism throughout Europe in the 1800s. The development of modern Europe begun between the
1780s and 1849 which was an economic transformation that set the first stages of the great Industrial
Revolution. This period created changes that can be seen throughout the ballet Giselle with alterations
to costuming and theatrical innovations, which changed how the public perceived dance. Themes
symbolic of the time were generated and brought depth and emotion to previous one dimensional
storylines, as well as the development of how the roles of men and women in dance went against the
way of society.
Throughout the Romantic period the ideas of Romanticism in art and literature influenced the creation
of ballets. During this period ballets explored similar key themes of betrayal, love and a spiritual
connection between the living and dead, in which these themes reflected society at the time.
Throughout the romantic period society were facing hardship in which they looked to the

I have never taken a dance class before so when I first entered the classroom, I was a little intimidated. One of the first things we learned was a warm up combination. The first part of the combo was where we had our right foot go forward, back to the other foot, side, back to the other foot, back behind us, and then back to the original position while clapping at the end. Then, we would repeat this process on the other side while trying to make your body not so stiff but free flowing. Next, we repeated these two steps fastly and then turn after your foot would return with the other foot. After that, we ran forward, lifting our arms and right leg up neighing , and then repeated on the other side. We repeated both sides twice. Next, we went to our right side lifting our right leg up and down on the floor while clapping moving sideways. After a few counts, we woulds lift our arms diagonally to the floor, and fall back to the left side. We would repeat this process on the other side as well. Additionally, we would do the octagon with our feet going back and forward. Once that was done, we would run to the right side and then run back to do the other side again. • 8. Color Imagery In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin The Russian art theorist Wassily Kandinsky once said that Color is a power which directly influences the soul. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to evoque very different types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than what they are actually used for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical dystopian novel We, which was published in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a work of literature that uses color imagery. Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and rebellion, which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to suppress. One of the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the second main female character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest. The first time I 330 s association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D 503 visited I 330 for the first time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society that is not made out of glass. In this scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short, bright yellowish dress, black hat, black stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this scene is a relic from ancient times, before the Green Wall was built and two hundred year war occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a very big impression on him because it was the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the primitive world. This interaction with her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and mentions the color yellow, when I 330 is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something against the state. I 330 is the only character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As portrayed in Record Seventeen, while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one of its mystery corridor and he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that excused him from work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile bite, the eyes with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient world in the same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color that takes on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Objective and Goal of the Project The project is done in the area of engine position management which is used in gasoline 4 stroke engines. During the development of device drivers for the engine, it is very important to test each and every feature of the device driver. Before going to the vehicle testing or software integration, the device driver software has to be tested completely. For this purpose, mini test benches can be used. This test setup should provide the necessary input signals to the driver software which is to be tested. The main input signals needed for the testing includes crank sensor and cam sensor signals. These signals help us to determine the crank and cam wheel positions and also calculate the engine speed at which the engine is running at that particular time. The existing mini test bench allows the engine speed information to be changed manually. The actual engine speed dynamics in the real engine/vehicle cannot be simulated. They are not capable of changing the engine speed in a specific pattern driven over time. They are not cost effective. The objective of this project comes from disadvantages of the existing test equipments. The main aim is to create a mini test bench setup to generate Cam and Crank Signals. In a successful attempt to create a movie/book feeling, he replaced 158 pages of words with pictures. This picture, depicted on pages 118 119, caught my eye because it effectively contributes to the development of the narrative. It relates to Hugo s father, who is a minor character, but the picture perfectly correlates with the description provided in the pages. This image is a flashback from Hugo s mind. It shows that Hugo s father, can t stop thinking about the automaton even at work. In the picture, Selznick has cleverly managed to convey the mood of Hugo s father. Selznick produces this by using, body language and facial expression, which is my first criteria. He draws the character to show that Hugo s father is absorbed in what he is doing, which shows his passion towards his job and the automaton. To achieve the fixed time, the project manager would need the proper coordination of all possible inputs required to carry out the task successfully. One of such inputs is the project management maturity model which allows for improvement of project management processes and systems (Crawford, 2006). Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock invites the reader on a journey with him through his story of love, or love that never was. He speaks to the reader as his love lost and asks her to stick with him on his journey through time, to learn why their love never transpired. He begins by showing her his decisions as a young adult, optimistic and confident in time, to prepare for her. Time goes by, he is now middle aged and insecure of his appearance, now in fear of her rejection and unsure if he has missed his window. Nearing the end of the poem he has grown older still, having wasted all time, knowing now that his love story will never be, he is ready to show his lost love, why. Young Adult Prufrock begins as lite hearted and carefree. He invites his love on a walk at dusk through the sleazy streets of their town. Begging her not to question him just yet of where they are going, Oh do not ask what is it let us go and make our visit. (Eliot) Prufrock is confident in time, comfortable in procrastinating. There will be time, there will be time, to prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet; there will be time to murder and create; and time for all the works and days of hands that lift and drop a question on your plate: time for you and time for me, (Eliot) Looking further into the text here, it leaves the impression that he is stringing the love along, expecting her to wait until he is ready, assuming that she will always be there when he decides ... A Scandal in Bohemia takes the stance on showing the distinction between social class and the way women were treated. Social class was a problem and still is to this day. The separation of the rich and poor detached the people and left them in two separate worlds. The story intermingles the King of Bohemia with a middle class woman named Irene Adler. This affair turned bad when he left her for a Scandinavian princess, so he wouldn t be shunned for marrying a woman of lower class. Even with him loving her, all because she was of middle class he would and could not see a future with her. But the other problem lies with the treatment of women. The viewing down on them because of their gender bias. Now in our time, we can see the big change in how women were treated, but during the time Sherlock Holmes was written, this was relevant in his stories. We see this scattered in the story as Irene Adler, the female protagonist is viewed as less to the characters but is proven as the best plans of Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit. Does it make a difference in moral psychology whether one adopts Aristotle s ordinary or Immanuel Kant s revisionist definition of virtue as a moral habit? Suppose it is objected, at the outset, that these definitions cannot be critically compared because their moral theories are, respectively, aposteriori and apriori, and so incommensurable. Two points of commensurability and grounds for comparative evaluation are two basic problems that any theory in moral psychology must address. They are moral ignorance (I don t know what I ought to do) and weakness (I don t do what I know I ought to do).(1) In the Nicomachean Ethics (hereafter Ethics), Aristotle ... Further, inner freedom is a rational self control which enables one to subdue one s emotions and to govern one s passions (67). Essential here is his claim that a virtue is not a free skill unless it is a free act of a moral will which in adopting a rule also declares it to be a universal law (66 67). Kant s concept of willing (i) freely and (ii) universally leads to his revisionist definition of virtue as moral habit. The key to (i) is to be found in his insistence on the cognitive certainty of the following metaphysical thesis. Even if the phenomenal self is completely determined causally, the moral self is free because it is noumenal (see the Critique of Practical Reason 28 34, 43 52, 55 59, 100 106; hereafter Practical Reason). He claims that the noumenal self is a cause imminent in experience because it is an efficient cause through Ideas (50). In short, Kant rejects the formation of moral habits through repetition in order to protect radically the freedom of the moral agent from phenomenal and scientific determinism. The key to (ii) is Kant s rejection of Aristotle s following advice. Since the cognitive results of a kind of reasoning is determined by its subject matter, it is foolish to require of moral reasoning the certainty and precision one can expect ... While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen are fundamentally the same, using paper still has a unique set of advantages such as the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of proofreading, and the increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The ability to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to consider hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t change when having to accomplish reading for a project or a research paper. The longer it takes the user to finish the reading, the harder it becomes to accomplish the job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computer to perform reading can be advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open and be able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to perform work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed. The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The History of Caterpillar Engines Essay The History of Caterpillar Engines The start of Caterpillar engines actually begins before Caterpillar was even a company. The history began back in the late1800 s when Daniel Best and Benjamin Holt were experimenting with various forms of steam tractors used for farming. The two competed with each other to gain the lead in the farm equipment industry. Throughout the late 1800 s and early 1900 s Holt and Best continued to build both steam and gas tractors. In 1908 Best sold his company to Holt. In 1925 Holt Manufacturing and C. L. Best Gas Tractor, a company owned by Best s son C. L. Best, merged to form Caterpillar Tractor Company. This housing then directs the compressed air into the engine. After the use of the turbocharger they discovered a new problem. The compressed air was much hotter than normal air going into the engine. The reason was that when the air is compressed it puts pressure on all the atoms. This causes the atoms to hit each other, causing friction, and move even faster. These rapid movements cause a massive amount of heat. This excess heat caused less oxygen to get to the cylinders which means a loss of potential power. Our answer to this dilemma was the aftercooler. Aftercoolers are used to lower the temperature of the air after it comes out of the turbo but before it enters the engine. By lowering the temperature the air becomes denser and holds more oxygen. This increase in oxygen provides an increase in power. There are three types of aftercoolers. The first is an Air to Air Aftercooler (ATAAC). With the air to air system, a separate cooler core is placed in front of the engine. The engine fan then passed outside air across the cooler. The outside air is much colder than the compressed air in the cooler. This difference causes the compressed air to drop in temperature by losing its heat to the outside air. This method is very common on most on highway trucks since they have access to a large volume of fresh cool air. The second type of aftercooler is the Jacket Water Aftercooler ...
