Abstract
In this case study we will review the new strategic business plan of American Airlines, and how they
are responding to changes in the marketplace to compete in the modern era. We will also analyze the
advantages of rebranding efforts, the effectiveness of existing practices of the airline and how the
airline may operate post merger with US Airways. By some measurements, the merger between
American Airlines and US Airways will create the largest company in the world, thus positioning
American Airlines to potentially become the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A smaller airline is simple and can easily adapt to change. Smaller airlines field similar aircraft for
interchangeability of maintenance workers and crew, they can quickly upgrade aircraft and they can
easily adjust management, directly address minor issues and quickly respond to changes in the market
place. While at a larger airline, bureaucracy slows these efforts, lengthily logistical and environmental
issues prolong the change process, what takes months for small airlines to adopt may take years for a
large airline. In my time in the military I learnt a school of thought called the tenants of guerrilla
warfare, I find it very similar to this circumstance (if they re big and you re small, then you re mobile
and they re slow, you re hidden and they re exposed etc etc). The threat of growing too large is a
known issue that airlines like Southwest avoid by utilizing careful growth in their business plan.
This new growth presents American Airlines to a new pool of customers, the untapped international
community that has little knowledge of American Airlines and with the recent disasters of Air Asia
and Malaysian Airlines the safety record of American is an advertising point that any flyer will greet
with open arms. A complex marketing mix must be researched before entering a foreign market to
ensure conditions like lifestyles, consumer behavior and political/legal environments can grant
competitive position in the local market. (Peter

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles
making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super
markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing
up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only
paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from
creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were
first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ;
made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to
terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out
plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural
resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any
supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t
much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable
bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the
same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric
resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t
be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources.
Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources
than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a
distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone
running out of resources, the creation and

Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment
Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and
apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous
factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water
impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s deterioration falls on
the human race, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for example may improperly
dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the environment is
suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage
in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes
need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment. This change is
urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a
whole new state and the damage spirals out of control (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are
demonstrated in The Guardian news article, Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth s wilderness in
25 years study, where the effects of deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many
animals habitats are disrupted, consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this
habitat is disturbed and destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans

Essay About The Suit
1) What is the story about? The Suit is based on the topic of adultery, in the Apartheid era. Philemon is
introduced as an adoring husband. The seemingly happily married couple reside in a shack in
Sophiatown, Johannesburg. En route home, Philemon is told that his wife, Matilda, is having an affair.
He returns home to Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit.
Although Philemon doesn t immediately acknowledge his wife s indiscretion, he immediately enforces

On his way home, Philemon is told that his wife, Matilda, is having an affair. He returns home to
Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit. Although Philemon doesn t
immediately acknowledge his wife s indiscretion, he immediately enforces a severe punishment upon
her. We can clearly see the transformation in the character of Philemon from this point onward. The
fact that he resorted to such absurd means of punishing her is evident of the extent of power that he
had over her. Matilda is forced to set a plate of food for the suit and carry it around as they strolled
through town. To escape her current misery, Matilda joins a cultural club. After Philemon agrees to
allow his wife to host a party, she invites the club members to her home. Although Matilda was
reluctant to bring out her honoured guest , Philemon insisted that she should. The amused guests
assumed that this was merely a game played by the couple. Despite Matilda s hope that Philemon will
keep her punishment at rest for the evening, he managed to humiliate her beyond extent. This charade
reaches absurd lengths due to his cruelty towards his adulteress wife, ending in the abrupt death of
Matilda. The suit is used as a metaphor as a mean of keeping control in his life. Philemon feels the
need to cling on to his domestic authority and thus uses the suit to do

Essay The Effect of Helicopter Parents

The Effect of Helicopter Parents No Escape from Helicopter Parents by Felix Carroll discusses the
problem that baby boomers are becoming over protective of their children and are not letting them live
independently. Carroll tells about helicopter parents to make the point that children of baby boomers
are being suffocated by their parents. My own experience with helicopter parents yields a point that is
both similar and different. What I take away from my own experience with helicopter parents is that
many parents hover over their children because they feel their kids have found things of better interest.
As a result, I conclude that helicopter parents are not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, kids tend to have a closer relationship with their parents because their parents have now
become more of a friend to them instead of an authority. Carroll speaks of Mark Gamsjager, saying He
skateboards and snowboards with his two boys, Austin, 13, and Thomas, 9 (Carroll 32). This type of
relationship will be beneficial when Mark s children grow older because they will have something in
common with him and it will continue to keep the relationship close. I have a similar relationship with
my parents and it has been nothing but beneficial to me. Eighteen years compared to a lifetime is not
very long so it is important that kids develop close relationships with their parents before it is time to
move off to college. I am grateful that my father is a helicopter parents because I was able to spend a
great amount of time with him before I moved out. Carroll ultimately proves his point that helicopter
parents are a negative influence on their children because parents are too obsessed with your children.
You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time they get to college and are asked
who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear: My dad. My mom (Carroll 32).
One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is because students with over protective
parents tend to lack self reliance and independence once they are on their own. Because everything
has been done for them by their parents, many students once in

Horatio s Disappearance Of Ghosts
Regarding the ghost s regular appearance at 1 am, I have two hunches:
First, the ghost may be appearing at that time to make clear that his presence is real and not a figment
of the imagination. In Act I, he appears when Horatio s shift begins. This might be so Horatio can see
him first hand, seeing that Horatio is the only watchman Hamlet will actually believe.
Second, the ghost may be appearing at such hour because ghosts are not allowed to be out in daylight.
Based on myths of the Elizabethan time, ghosts were only allowed to leave their abyss after the
witching hour (midnight) ─ this gives quite an eerie effect.
As for the ghost s disappearance, he vanishes when the rooster crows. The rooster is like a clock that
anticipates sunrise and

Dwight D. Eisenhower s Fight Against Homosexuals
In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower became the 34th President of the Unite States. His main goal was to
keep pressure on the Soviet Union during the early stages of the Cold War. During his Presidency,
Eisenhower brought back many of the old traditional values and fiercely attacked homosexuality and
sexual immorality.
Born into a strong religious household, Eisenhower believed that sex offenders and homosexuals
posed a national security risk; therefore, they should not be allowed employment into any Government
positions. Eisenhower s administration claimed that because of their sexual orientation, homosexuals
were more susceptible to blackmail by a communist enemy. Because of that, on April of 1953,
Eisenhower issued Executive Order 10450 which revoked President Truman s 1947 Executive Order
9835. In this new order, Eisenhower charged the heads of all federal agencies, with the assistance of
the FBI, with investigating all federal employees to discover if they posed security risks. Also ... Show

McLeod increased the fight against homosexuals and sexual offenders by creating a special branch
called Miscellaneous M Unit. The M Unit used a variety of techniques to expose homosexuals, with
the most successful ones being polygraph tests and personal interviews. Under McLeod s guidance,
the M Unit forced many federal employees accused of any sexual deviation, to resign. Many others
forced into confessions after prolonged interrogations. In addition to what was happening in the
United States, many Government Officials feared that homosexuals that worked in international
organizations would create a scandal that will bring negative attention to the United States. Therefore,
America demanded that the other U.N. nations take the same stand against homosexuality. Britain,
Canada and Australia soon followed the United States

Descriptive Essay About A Happy Place In The Sea
I take a deep breath, my nostrils are filled with the pleasant aroma of the salty sea air. This is my
happy place, this is where I belong. As I sit with my freshly painted pink toes in the sand, I am
overwhelmed with all that is happening around me. To my right, there is a family of four; a mother,
father, and two little red headed girls that look like twins, laughing and jumping around, taking in the
big world around them. The children are in their bright red and purple flowered bathing suits, running
and screaming, attempting to get their toes wet in the chilly water that churns back and forth on the
shore. After a few attempts they decide to run and jump full force into the crystal clear abyss, unaware
of what creatures they could find if they dive deep enough.
To the left of me, I see an older couple, books in hand, enjoying the relaxing evening under their
bright, multicolor striped beach umbrella and green folding chairs that have palm trees sewn on the
back. The man leans over and soon enough the lady begins to laugh at what he has said. Further down
I can see a boy in blue and white striped swim trunks and his dog playing fetch near the shore. The
dog is brown with a mix of white around his back. Each time the boy throws the bouncy blue ball, the
dog is more and more eager to retrieve it for his owner. After a few throws, the next one goes farther
than the others, causing the dog to dive into the water. He seems to enjoy the way the cool water feels

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the entrapment of the median nerve caused by compression or
swelling in the carpal tunnel of the wrist (Radomski and Latham, 2008). Typically it presents as
numbness, tingling, hypersensitivity, or burning sensation causing reduced function of the hand.

The Effects Of Legalization Of Drugs On The Economy
The legalization of drugs is a very controversial social topic for discussion, one that has taken the
media by storm over the last couple of years. Everyone has opinion on this topic and they range from
very pro to very anti. As legalization slowly becomes a reality and is seen around the world, questions
begin to emerge of the effects that this legalization will have on crime, society, and the economy. With
the emergence of the legalization of drugs there have been positive and negative effects happening
nationally and globally, as this trend continues it will be sure to change and shape society in many
different ways.
In the past two years we have seen national changes with the implementation of legalized marijuana

Marijuana that is sold for non medical use requires a regular sales tax, additional state and excise
taxes, and possibly an additional local tax (Durkin, 2014). In Colorado, they raked in over $11.3
million in tax revenue from the sales of marijuana in the first 4 months of legalization (Durkin, 2014).
The state will have huge benefits from the tax revenue collected and once they have reached $40
million they have plans to use the money for public school construction (Durkin, 2014). With the
legalization of marijuana in Colorado and attempting to meet the demand, new business ventures have
emerged leading to more jobs (Durkin, 2014). Legalization would require some costs to regulate
however, the cost currently to regulate tobacco and alcohol are far less than what is being spent to
enforce the control on illegal drugs (Caulkins et al., 2014). Marijuana accounts for a large part of drug
arrests and a large amount of money goes toward those arrests leading legalization to have a
significant savings (Caulkins et al., 2014). Illicit drug market brings in a staggering $500 billion a

The Multicultural Self Assessment And Gain An...
Journal: Multicultural Awareness The purpose of this paper is to examine oneself by taking the
Multicultural Self Assessment and gain an understanding about the Other of oneself based on previous
experience. This paper will also cover a type of human development this writer identifies with and
how they to relate to the field of mental health counseling. These topics will assist one in connecting
with clients from different cultures. Multicultural Self Assessment The findings of the Multicultural
Self Assessment were not unexpected to me. Nine of the answers were four (4), which is not expected
to me due to being taught by my mother and grandmother to not to talk too much and listen to other
people. I was also taught to not judge Others based on who they are, what they have, or what they say.
I avoided judging other people because I did not want to be judged in the same manner. The five
questions I answered with a five (5) were not ones I had to think hard about. I do not assume anything
in any situation to avoid looking like a donkey. I go out the majority of time to watch people interact
with each other and find humor in what is taking place. I like to hear all sides of an issue in order to
make a good decision, regardless of outcome. I am mindful of the impact my upbringing and
education (In school and out of school) have on my values and beliefs. I am aware of what I say to
avoid offending other people. The only question I answered a three (3) was based on my

How Can Historians Make Use Of The Stories That The Romans
How can historians make use of the stories that the Romans told about their founders and foundations?
Abstract. There are two distinct stories regarding the foundation of ancient Rome, with claims to two
founders. The story of Romulus and Remus describes the literal foundation of the city where as the
Aeneid addresses the origins in the foundations of the Roman people being descended from Aeneas. In
regards to their use to historians, though there is debate as to the legitimacy of historical facts, looking
beyond the actual story and noting the difference between versions particularly in Romulus and
Remus can give clues of Roman society during the time of it being written. The information contained
within the stories of foundation reflects the needs of the Romans citizens and the influences of the era.
Introduction. Through the study of past evidence, historians become capable of creating educated
interpretations of the past based on such evidence and previous knowledge. Difficulty in interpretation
does not come from insufficient evidence, with an abundance of preserved historical works from
writers, Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus for example, but the unreliable nature of literary
tradition (Cornell, 1986) resulting in differentiated opinions of the usefulness of ancient evidence
particularly with the incompatible stories of Roman foundation. The usefulness of stories from
Romans can become increasingly valuable though there are some historians of the opinion the

Stage 1. Introduction to Computer Science
In this stage, I have watched an introductory video about computer science and what a computer
scientist does in general. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the
world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to
know.
Stage 2. The Maze
Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird
move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and
drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the repeat block in the game I learned how loops are valuable
and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to
use repeat until block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game
was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used repeat until command to achieve the goal.
Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming if statement. By using if commands the
computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about if/else block command, which made a
decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. There were some struggles that I
have faced. Sometimes I didn t quite

Classroom Reflection
At Rolling Green, many areas are used for gym classes now. The temperature recently just rose to the
mid 60s. Before the temperature rose, students would participate outside on the schools tennis court,
around the baseball diamond, and sometimes the old soccer field. Now, students are participating in
the small gym towards the middle of the school building. This helps make it easier for students who
didn t dress for the cold weather stay warm. As well as not fully protecting students, but avoiding
possibility for children to get sick due to extreme climate change. In this reflection, I will give a brief
description of the physical arrangements in the physical education classroom inside. I will then give a
description of routines and procedures. Next, I will talk about one of the instructors grouping
strategies and activities that stuck out to me the most. Finally, I will speak about one change I would
make, and why I would make that change.
To begin with, the inside physical education classroom is extremely small. Normally there will be two
classes in the room at one time, which leads to the instructors dividing the room up with the middle
door. When the gym is divided, the left side just has a stage and volleyball nets taking up a small
percentage of space. On the other side of the divided room, there are chairs, volleyball polls, and
tumbling mats cluttering the rooms space. Normally the Instructor will try to move extra items out of
the way as much as possible. If students have to run, then the items are moved to the four furthest
corners of that side of the room. Other times the extra items will be placed in the instructors personal
office, or even the equipment storage room. On both sides of the gym, there are posters all over the
walls to motivate the students to be healthy, happy and enjoy life t the fullest. There are also some
pictures of students with their instructors, and more photos of students in uniforms for certain sports.
A daily routine for all of my instructors students, would be to come in the classroom and stand in
order by their last name. The instructor has already made groups for the students, there are normally 4,
but no more than 5 students to each row. After the students get into

A company, like General Electric, that has a positive current ratio greater than 1, will also have a
positive net working capital. Net working capital assesses a company s ability to pay off short term
obligations. General Electric, along with their industry, both have the ability to meet short term
commitments and liquidate assets easily. Activity ratios have the capability to show how efficient, or
inefficient, a company is operating. Receivables turnover ratio indicates the level of efficiency with
managing credit given to customers and the collection period. Using their recent third quarter data, I
calculated that General Electric has a receivables turnover ratio of .80. That isn t awful, but their
industry is preforming at a much higher level of 1.8. Essentially, GE is not collecting payments as fast,
and are less efficient than their market competitors. On the other hand, there is also inventory
turnover. This ratio is set up to show how many times a period a company is selling out of
merchandise. Here is where General Electric is very close to the industry average. GE has an
inventory turnover of 4.2, compared to the industry at 4.4. The higher the ratio, the more effective a
business stands. Lastly, total asset turnover is used to measure how efficiently your business uses its
assets to generate sales (Avenir). GE possesses a ratio of .14, much lower than the industry

the sport and others may have played a few years because their parents made them to. There is nothing
wrong with playing soccer, but to know that they were a part of an amazing experience. This is a very

Mcbride s Characters In The Color Of Water By James Mcbride
In the book The Color of Water, the author, James McBride not only takes us through his own journey,
but also gives us a perspective on the life of his mother, Ruth. James admiration for his mom reflects
throughout the story while showing the readers the growth and development her character experienced
as she went through life. Ruth McBride Jordan endured many heartbreaking hardships throughout her
life, but nevertheless, had an innumerable amount of cheerful and zestful moments. She grew to be a
remarkable woman; however, it was a long journey before she became that woman. Separating from
her family, and leaving the South was one of the hardest choices she ever made, yet it was best for her,
in order to move on and adjust her future for the better. A main factor in Ruth s life prosperity was her
first husband, Andrew Dennis McBride, who taught her many important things and, in a sense,
changed her entire lifestyle and outlook on the world. The last large impression that altered her life
immensely in a way that led her character to mature, was the death of her beloved Dennis . These
elements all highlight a point in this woman s life that caused a development in her personality.
In her younger years, being a part of the Shilsky family was no easy task for Ruth. In those times, her
father, Fishel, was a heartless man with no sense of appreciation or love for his faithful and obedient
Jewish family. In fact, Fishel was so cruel to his three children that Ruth reports having

Refractive Eye Surgery Essay
Introduction
Light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and travels in waves. The electromagnetic
spectrum consists of many other forms of radiation including: radio waves, microwaves, infrared
waves, ultraviolet rays, x rays, and gamma rays (Sandner, 2009). Humans are only capable of
seeing the visible spectrum of light and some even have difficulties with that. However, with
technology taking a turn, many new inventions have come into existence that can help many
parts of the body, including the eyes. Optical devices/processes help us see farther and more
clearly than we can with unaided eyes (Sandner, 2009). One of these optical devices/processes is
laser vision correction. For most people with vision problems, this brand of surgery looks very
appealing to them, which can decrease or even eliminate dependency on glasses and contact
lenses (Sandner, 2009). However, there are also risks that come along with them, and those risks
can be very dangerous.
Background Research
Types of Refractive Eye Surgery
Laser vision correction consists of different types including, but not limited to: LASIK,
LASEK, PRK, and ALK. Each type of surgery is executed for different purposes such as near
sightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. According to MedicineNet.com (nd), all types of
refractive eye surgery involve the reshaping of the cornea or clearing the front part of the eye so
that light can travel through onto the retina properly focused.

Social Media For Health, Fitness And Beauty Tips
Alana Putnam Rough Draft
Did you know that 68% of women in the United States use social media for health, fitness and beauty
tips (Cohen)? Many women of all ages are dealing with the pressure that social media can put on them
to have the perfect body. There are many different ways of dealing with this issue, that include
positive and negative outcomes when dealing with this problem (Reed). Also, just like every story
there is two different sides to this issue. Social media has been putting too much pressure on women to
have perfect bodies or that they have to be in perfect shape all of the time. The many women who use
social media for health purposes helps boost up the usage of different social media sites, but many bad
effects can come out of this pressure that is put on women. This became an issue very far back in the
past, Anorexia began in the 1870s but didn t become popular until 1960s and 1970s. Bulimia began in
the 1980s and was popularized as soon as it started. The idea of a perfect body has changed a lot over
time from very curvy, to very skinny and back again multiple times depending on where you are
(Reed). Using very thin models became very popular after World War 2 and people believed that this
was the new perfect body. In the 1990s more magazines began to promote plastic surgery on women
and people began to invest in it (Redar). Studies have also shown that once a woman develops an
eating disorder it is harder for her to get into a healthier

Causes Of Migrant Labor In The Philippines
Introduction Approximately 10 12 million Filipinos work as migrants abroad; the number of people
leaving the country to find work is so high that migration is a regular part of life in the Philippines
(Pardis, 121). Due to deeply embedded structural flows of capital and labor present in
postcolonial/neocolonial economic arrangements, the Philippines depend on migrant labor as a
significant export (Pardis, 123). The combination of neoliberal policies and globalization result in
push and pull forces across portions of societies and national borders that motivate migration in search
of employment or safety, such as increasing poverty and anemic development, causing the Philippines
to rely significantly on migrant labor to strengthen the domestic economy. (Pardis, 143). The heavy
reliance on migrant labor has created, in some instances, a situation of forced migration that renders
potential migrants at risk of being a trafficked person prone to exploitation as cheap labor, bonded
workers, or prostitutes (Saat, 137). Aspirant migrants depend on others to facilitate their movement,
making them susceptible to criminal intentions of those offering work opportunities abroad and
organizing travel requirements (Kempadoo, 74). The logistics of migration (recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons) do not constitute trafficking when carried out
formally and the person is fully informed of the conditions of work and understandings of payments
and obligations

comes up and draws the $ symbol. I used these questions to teach my students a new concept instead
of just giving them the answers. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in
my lesson, I had the students read the dollars to make sure they were using the correct dollar bills. I
was teaching them that reading allows for use to not get confused or mixed up by the five dollar bills
with the one dollar bill. In my part 2 video of my lesson around 10:21, the students are trying to get to

one of the student response by saying five dollar because they have just read that off the five dollar
bill. This allowed for them to develop that literacy connection so that can use reading skills when they
are confused.

Impact Of Opt Out Systems
IMPACT OF OPT OUT SYSTEMS
The Taskforce consider opting out information to be more sensitive in nature than information
provided by opting in Organ Donation Register ( Organ Donation Taskforce , 20). The current is based
on an open access website with an electronic register that is available to all hospital staff. In an opt out
system, not registering in this register may mean that someone s organs may be taken when they have
had a serious objection to this. Theoretically, it is possible for someone to re enter someone s name on
the register without them knowing, although there is no evidence to suggest that this will happen on a
wide scale. This is why some may argue that an opt out system would require far greater security due
to the sensitive nature of the information. This information could be accommodated on the Personal
Demographics Service ( Organ Donation Taskforce , 2008) but entering all this data would be a drain
on the NHS resources especially at the start of an opt out system which would involve entering the
data of several million people. People may also choose to be increasingly specific about which organs
or tissues they choose to donate as medicine advances so the framework required for would be rather
complex. This would also take a large toll on the funds provided to the NHS with the costs of for the
setup of IT and communications approximating to £45 million. An additional £5 million per year is
needed to refresh public messages and an estimated £10

One not voting implicitly means consenting to whatever idea proposed during the electoral campaigns
thus that will give more chance to whatever party to win as its voters in favor of them will count more
than those who did not vote and that was the case for the 2016 elections. It is considered more
dangerous not to vote than voting blank, at least the government and those in charge of the elections
could notice and accept that even though the voters did not choose anyone at least he or she tried to
make her voice be heard and that is one main factor of an improving society. Moreover, in order to
increase voter turnout, we as a society, first should try to understand why some people decide not to
vote. As we understand increasingly what the problem we could find better solutions and also could
choose and construct better representatives and ideologies that would push the abstainers to vote. As
the fair vote website explains it we should think about outcomes that better represent the diverse
beliefs of the electorate thus focus on better ideologies (Fair Vote, n.d.). The website also proposes an
alternative named the Universal Voter registration which would modernize voter registration.
Furthermore, the Fair vote website proposes a National Popular vote which according to the website,
would expand presidential campaigns from just ten states to all 50 , that would increase the turnout in
certain areas that probably were not included in the campaign as there

Every Time after your done cutting hay, you have a lot left to do. First of all, you have to pressure
wash it off. With going through all of those gopher mounds, the haybine gets really jammed packed
with hard dirt and clay and rocks. This by itself takes at least an hour to get done because there is hay
in all the nooks and crannies of the haybine also, so you have to find the hay and try to blow it out.
This is actually a lot harder than it sounds, just take my word for it. Once you are one step closer to
being done, you have to fold the haybine in and park it in the machinery lot. Now folding it in with
two people is quite simple. But when you only have yourself to try and fold it in, it becomes about
100% harder. There is a rop you have to pull and it is spring loaded, so you have to quickly pull the
rope, sprint onto the tractor, and back onto the block that you place benefit the tire of the haybine.
Like I said before, a lot harder than it may seem. After you try for the 5th time to run fast enough to
the tractor and back into the block, you finally get the haybine folded in. You can go park it in the
machinery lot, and go fuel up the tractor out of the 500 gallon diesel fuel tank that is on the farm.
Once you re all fueled up for the next time you need the tractor, you can finally go back the tractor in
the leanto that is connected to the grainery and pull the rod to kill the tractor engine. Now you have to
go feed your money makers once again. The cows of course are the money makers. Feed the cows for

Heirloom Swot Analysis Essay
An Analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats in Opening an Heirloom Seed

has become a growing part of our culture. As this culture grows, so too does the need for businesses
that supply ingredients to support the trend (Essen Englander, 2013). In recent studies, it has been
found that genetically modified foods are not as preferred as the more natural versions from before
mankind endeavored to make structural changes to raw products (Bawa Anilakumar, 2012). One of the

Threats:

Competition Potential

Economy Fluctuations
After evaluating this analysis, it will be easier to determine if the negative aspects of starting such a
venture significantly outweigh any positives. Possibly the easiest of the four quadrants of the SWOT
Analysis to determine are the strengths.
Strengths
The strengths of running an heirloom seed business from home: easy inventory storage; no employee
issues or costs; no need to wear a uniform or leave the house; and no true schedule. Unlike many
businesses that sell physical products, whether it s internet sales or in store, seeds take up very little
space. One could easily sell many varieties with nothing more than a garage to store the inventory! A
preferred method would be to have a separate room, climate controlled, with shelves to hold bins of
inventory. Unlike selling t shirts or gadgets, seeds could have months of inventory on hand in one
converted guest bedroom. Operating in this fashion would negate the need to hire employees.
Having a traditional business in a store often requires hiring people to assist in the running of it. With
no employees, there is no need for a human relations department, overtime pay, extra insurance costs,
or salaries. Based on statistics from the Bureau of Labor published in September of 2017, one part
time service employee averages a cost per hour of

Examples Of Direct Characterization In Lamb To The Slaughter
In the short story Lamb to the Slaughter, written by Roald Dahl, Dahl uses direct and indirect
characterization to give us both realistic and improbable portrayals of characters, In addition to
showing us the values and perspective of the characters. In this short story the author states, This was
her sixth month expecting a child. (Dahl, 1). Direct characterization is when the author directly
provides information on the personality or background on the character instead of indirectly revealing
it through actions and speech. This quote obviously utilizes direct characterization by describing
background information on Mary Maloney. Additionally, the fact that it was her sixth month expecting
a child is direct characterization because we did not have to assume it through actions and speech, the
author directly mentioned it in the first page. Not only does Dahl use direct characterization, but also
indirect characterization. In the story the author states, It s probably right under our noses. What do
you think Jack? And in the other room Mary Maloney began to laugh. (Dahl 4). Indirect
characterization is when the author reveals background and the personality of the character through
thoughts and actions. In like manner, so does this quote. In this quote the author reveals the
personality of Mary Maloney through her speech instead of directly giving us information. In this
quote, Mary Maloney laughs at the death of her husband and we can assume that she is a cruel

  • 2. Essay on American Airlines Table of Contents Abstract 3 Situation Analysis 3 Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats, and Opportunities 4 Re Branding 6 Pricing Strategy 8 Service Marketers 9 Future 12 Summary 12 References 13 Abstract In this case study we will review the new strategic business plan of American Airlines, and how they are responding to changes in the marketplace to compete in the modern era. We will also analyze the advantages of rebranding efforts, the effectiveness of existing practices of the airline and how the airline may operate post merger with US Airways. By some measurements, the merger between American Airlines and US Airways will create the largest company in the world, thus positioning American Airlines to potentially become the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A smaller airline is simple and can easily adapt to change. Smaller airlines field similar aircraft for interchangeability of maintenance workers and crew, they can quickly upgrade aircraft and they can easily adjust management, directly address minor issues and quickly respond to changes in the market place. While at a larger airline, bureaucracy slows these efforts, lengthily logistical and environmental issues prolong the change process, what takes months for small airlines to adopt may take years for a large airline. In my time in the military I learnt a school of thought called the tenants of guerrilla warfare, I find it very similar to this circumstance (if they re big and you re small, then you re mobile and they re slow, you re hidden and they re exposed etc etc). The threat of growing too large is a known issue that airlines like Southwest avoid by utilizing careful growth in their business plan. This new growth presents American Airlines to a new pool of customers, the untapped international community that has little knowledge of American Airlines and with the recent disasters of Air Asia and Malaysian Airlines the safety record of American is an advertising point that any flyer will greet with open arms. A complex marketing mix must be researched before entering a foreign market to ensure conditions like lifestyles, consumer behavior and political/legal environments can grant competitive position in the local market. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ; made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources. Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone running out of resources, the creation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s deterioration falls on the human race, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment. This change is urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of control (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardian news article, Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth s wilderness in 25 years study, where the effects of deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals habitats are disrupted, consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay About The Suit 1) What is the story about? The Suit is based on the topic of adultery, in the Apartheid era. Philemon is introduced as an adoring husband. The seemingly happily married couple reside in a shack in Sophiatown, Johannesburg. En route home, Philemon is told that his wife, Matilda, is having an affair. He returns home to Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit. Although Philemon doesn t immediately acknowledge his wife s indiscretion, he immediately enforces a severe punishment upon her. He forces his wife to set a plate of food for the suit and carry it around as they strolled through town. To escape her current misery, Matilda joins a cultural club. After Philemon agrees to allow his wife to host a party, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On his way home, Philemon is told that his wife, Matilda, is having an affair. He returns home to Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit. Although Philemon doesn t immediately acknowledge his wife s indiscretion, he immediately enforces a severe punishment upon her. We can clearly see the transformation in the character of Philemon from this point onward. The fact that he resorted to such absurd means of punishing her is evident of the extent of power that he had over her. Matilda is forced to set a plate of food for the suit and carry it around as they strolled through town. To escape her current misery, Matilda joins a cultural club. After Philemon agrees to allow his wife to host a party, she invites the club members to her home. Although Matilda was reluctant to bring out her honoured guest , Philemon insisted that she should. The amused guests assumed that this was merely a game played by the couple. Despite Matilda s hope that Philemon will keep her punishment at rest for the evening, he managed to humiliate her beyond extent. This charade reaches absurd lengths due to his cruelty towards his adulteress wife, ending in the abrupt death of Matilda. The suit is used as a metaphor as a mean of keeping control in his life. Philemon feels the need to cling on to his domestic authority and thus uses the suit to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay The Effect of Helicopter Parents Tera Winger Mrs. Pietka English 1304.26 26 January 2012 The Effect of Helicopter Parents No Escape from Helicopter Parents by Felix Carroll discusses the problem that baby boomers are becoming over protective of their children and are not letting them live independently. Carroll tells about helicopter parents to make the point that children of baby boomers are being suffocated by their parents. My own experience with helicopter parents yields a point that is both similar and different. What I take away from my own experience with helicopter parents is that many parents hover over their children because they feel their kids have found things of better interest. As a result, I conclude that helicopter parents are not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, kids tend to have a closer relationship with their parents because their parents have now become more of a friend to them instead of an authority. Carroll speaks of Mark Gamsjager, saying He skateboards and snowboards with his two boys, Austin, 13, and Thomas, 9 (Carroll 32). This type of relationship will be beneficial when Mark s children grow older because they will have something in common with him and it will continue to keep the relationship close. I have a similar relationship with my parents and it has been nothing but beneficial to me. Eighteen years compared to a lifetime is not very long so it is important that kids develop close relationships with their parents before it is time to move off to college. I am grateful that my father is a helicopter parents because I was able to spend a great amount of time with him before I moved out. Carroll ultimately proves his point that helicopter parents are a negative influence on their children because parents are too obsessed with your children. You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time they get to college and are asked who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear: My dad. My mom (Carroll 32). One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is because students with over protective parents tend to lack self reliance and independence once they are on their own. Because everything has been done for them by their parents, many students once in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Horatio s Disappearance Of Ghosts Regarding the ghost s regular appearance at 1 am, I have two hunches: First, the ghost may be appearing at that time to make clear that his presence is real and not a figment of the imagination. In Act I, he appears when Horatio s shift begins. This might be so Horatio can see him first hand, seeing that Horatio is the only watchman Hamlet will actually believe. Second, the ghost may be appearing at such hour because ghosts are not allowed to be out in daylight. Based on myths of the Elizabethan time, ghosts were only allowed to leave their abyss after the witching hour (midnight) ─ this gives quite an eerie effect. As for the ghost s disappearance, he vanishes when the rooster crows. The rooster is like a clock that anticipates sunrise and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Dwight D. Eisenhower s Fight Against Homosexuals In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower became the 34th President of the Unite States. His main goal was to keep pressure on the Soviet Union during the early stages of the Cold War. During his Presidency, Eisenhower brought back many of the old traditional values and fiercely attacked homosexuality and sexual immorality. Born into a strong religious household, Eisenhower believed that sex offenders and homosexuals posed a national security risk; therefore, they should not be allowed employment into any Government positions. Eisenhower s administration claimed that because of their sexual orientation, homosexuals were more susceptible to blackmail by a communist enemy. Because of that, on April of 1953, Eisenhower issued Executive Order 10450 which revoked President Truman s 1947 Executive Order 9835. • 11. Descriptive Essay About A Happy Place In The Sea I take a deep breath, my nostrils are filled with the pleasant aroma of the salty sea air. This is my happy place, this is where I belong. As I sit with my freshly painted pink toes in the sand, I am overwhelmed with all that is happening around me. To my right, there is a family of four; a mother, father, and two little red headed girls that look like twins, laughing and jumping around, taking in the big world around them. The children are in their bright red and purple flowered bathing suits, running and screaming, attempting to get their toes wet in the chilly water that churns back and forth on the shore. After a few attempts they decide to run and jump full force into the crystal clear abyss, unaware of what creatures they could find if they dive deep enough. To the left of me, I see an older couple, books in hand, enjoying the relaxing evening under their bright, multicolor striped beach umbrella and green folding chairs that have palm trees sewn on the back. The man leans over and soon enough the lady begins to laugh at what he has said. Further down I can see a boy in blue and white striped swim trunks and his dog playing fetch near the shore. The dog is brown with a mix of white around his back. Each time the boy throws the bouncy blue ball, the dog is more and more eager to retrieve it for his owner. After a few throws, the next one goes farther than the others, causing the dog to dive into the water. He seems to enjoy the way the cool water feels on his fur ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two distinct stories regarding the foundation of ancient Rome, with claims to two founders. The story of Romulus and Remus describes the literal foundation of the city where as the Aeneid addresses the origins in the foundations of the Roman people being descended from Aeneas. In regards to their use to historians, though there is debate as to the legitimacy of historical facts, looking beyond the actual story and noting the difference between versions particularly in Romulus and Remus can give clues of Roman society during the time of it being written. The information contained within the stories of foundation reflects the needs of the Romans citizens and the influences of the era. Introduction. Through the study of past evidence, historians become capable of creating educated interpretations of the past based on such evidence and previous knowledge. Difficulty in interpretation does not come from insufficient evidence, with an abundance of preserved historical works from writers, Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus for example, but the unreliable nature of literary tradition (Cornell, 1986) resulting in differentiated opinions of the usefulness of ancient evidence particularly with the incompatible stories of Roman foundation. Humans are only capable of seeing the visible spectrum of light and some even have difficulties with that. However, with technology taking a turn, many new inventions have come into existence that can help many parts of the body, including the eyes. Optical devices/processes help us see farther and more clearly than we can with unaided eyes (Sandner, 2009). One of these optical devices/processes is laser vision correction. For most people with vision problems, this brand of surgery looks very appealing to them, which can decrease or even eliminate dependency on glasses and contact lenses (Sandner, 2009). • 28. Causes Of Migrant Labor In The Philippines Introduction Approximately 10 12 million Filipinos work as migrants abroad; the number of people leaving the country to find work is so high that migration is a regular part of life in the Philippines (Pardis, 121). Due to deeply embedded structural flows of capital and labor present in postcolonial/neocolonial economic arrangements, the Philippines depend on migrant labor as a significant export (Pardis, 123). The combination of neoliberal policies and globalization result in push and pull forces across portions of societies and national borders that motivate migration in search of employment or safety, such as increasing poverty and anemic development, causing the Philippines to rely significantly on migrant labor to strengthen the domestic economy. (Pardis, 143). The heavy reliance on migrant labor has created, in some instances, a situation of forced migration that renders potential migrants at risk of being a trafficked person prone to exploitation as cheap labor, bonded workers, or prostitutes (Saat, 137). Aspirant migrants depend on others to facilitate their movement, making them susceptible to criminal intentions of those offering work opportunities abroad and organizing travel requirements (Kempadoo, 74). The logistics of migration (recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons) do not constitute trafficking when carried out formally and the person is fully informed of the conditions of work and understandings of payments and obligations ... • 31. Impact Of Opt Out Systems IMPACT OF OPT OUT SYSTEMS The Taskforce consider opting out information to be more sensitive in nature than information provided by opting in Organ Donation Register ( Organ Donation Taskforce , 20). The current is based on an open access website with an electronic register that is available to all hospital staff. In an opt out system, not registering in this register may mean that someone s organs may be taken when they have had a serious objection to this. Theoretically, it is possible for someone to re enter someone s name on the register without them knowing, although there is no evidence to suggest that this will happen on a wide scale. This is why some may argue that an opt out system would require far greater security due to the sensitive nature of the information. This information could be accommodated on the Personal Demographics Service ( Organ Donation Taskforce , 2008) but entering all this data would be a drain on the NHS resources especially at the start of an opt out system which would involve entering the data of several million people. People may also choose to be increasingly specific about which organs or tissues they choose to donate as medicine advances so the framework required for would be rather complex. This would also take a large toll on the funds provided to the NHS with the costs of for the setup of IT and communications approximating to £45 million. An additional £5 million per year is needed to refresh public messages and an estimated £10 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One not voting implicitly means consenting to whatever idea proposed during the electoral campaigns thus that will give more chance to whatever party to win as its voters in favor of them will count more than those who did not vote and that was the case for the 2016 elections. It is considered more dangerous not to vote than voting blank, at least the government and those in charge of the elections could notice and accept that even though the voters did not choose anyone at least he or she tried to make her voice be heard and that is one main factor of an improving society. Moreover, in order to increase voter turnout, we as a society, first should try to understand why some people decide not to vote. As we understand increasingly what the problem we could find better solutions and also could choose and construct better representatives and ideologies that would push the abstainers to vote. As the fair vote website explains it we should think about outcomes that better represent the diverse beliefs of the electorate thus focus on better ideologies (Fair Vote, n.d.). It s a necessity to rise and shine before the crack of dawn on days like these... When you re working at the farm during the summer, you are always pressed for time. It seems like you can never get everything you want done that day all done. But you have to try at least, so the loud ring of my old alarm clock rings right around 6 am every morning. It seems as if the cows and chickens know that it is time to get fed, because they are all bellering and clucking away. This is the best sound to wake up to, the sound of the cows bellowing up in the feedlot ready to get fed for the long summer hours of the sun s appearance during the summer. I get dressed into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every Time after your done cutting hay, you have a lot left to do. First of all, you have to pressure wash it off. With going through all of those gopher mounds, the haybine gets really jammed packed with hard dirt and clay and rocks. This by itself takes at least an hour to get done because there is hay in all the nooks and crannies of the haybine also, so you have to find the hay and try to blow it out. This is actually a lot harder than it sounds, just take my word for it. Once you are one step closer to being done, you have to fold the haybine in and park it in the machinery lot. Now folding it in with two people is quite simple. But when you only have yourself to try and fold it in, it becomes about 100% harder. There is a rop you have to pull and it is spring loaded, so you have to quickly pull the rope, sprint onto the tractor, and back onto the block that you place benefit the tire of the haybine. Like I said before, a lot harder than it may seem. After you try for the 5th time to run fast enough to the tractor and back into the block, you finally get the haybine folded in. You can go park it in the machinery lot, and go fuel up the tractor out of the 500 gallon diesel fuel tank that is on the farm. Once you re all fueled up for the next time you need the tractor, you can finally go back the tractor in the leanto that is connected to the grainery and pull the rod to kill the tractor engine. Now you have to go feed your money makers once again. The cows of course are the money makers. Feed the cows for the second time for the day and you are finally done for the ... Threats: Chain Retail (Whole Foods) Competition Potential Limited Suppliers Economy Fluctuations After evaluating this analysis, it will be easier to determine if the negative aspects of starting such a venture significantly outweigh any positives. Possibly the easiest of the four quadrants of the SWOT Analysis to determine are the strengths. Strengths The strengths of running an heirloom seed business from home: easy inventory storage; no employee issues or costs; no need to wear a uniform or leave the house; and no true schedule. Unlike many businesses that sell physical products, whether it s internet sales or in store, seeds take up very little space. One could easily sell many varieties with nothing more than a garage to store the inventory! A preferred method would be to have a separate room, climate controlled, with shelves to hold bins of inventory. Unlike selling t shirts or gadgets, seeds could have months of inventory on hand in one converted guest bedroom. Operating in this fashion would negate the need to hire employees. Having a traditional business in a store often requires hiring people to assist in the running of it. With no employees, there is no need for a human relations department, overtime pay, extra insurance costs, or salaries.
