Essay On Healthcare Accreditation
Accreditation is a process review that healthcare organizations participate in to demonstrate the ability
to meet regulatory requirements and accreditation standards established by a recognized accreditation
organization. Accreditation helps the dedication and improvement on the performance and the quality
of care for the patients. Without this accreditation would be low and the facility would not meet the
standards of the federal government. Accreditation is a non government program that is voluntary, this
program evaluates a facility. I say its voluntary, but not completely as many facilities will need to have
accreditation to collect the bills from a state funded insurance. Most of the bills from the state funded
insurance are Medicaid and Medicare but there are also some others but these are the main ones. This
accreditation is like someone that is wanting to take nursing classes, some of the classes are not
accredited and in that case, they won t be able to get their degree and be on the registry. Most likely
they will have to take that class again but the accredited one, I had the same issue ... Show more

do your job. The skills consist of performing nursing skills on a dummy or another student to make

Why Is Animal Testing Ineffective
The destructive use of animals in experiments is not only cruel but also ineffective. Animal testing is a
traditional approach to studying how human and animal bodies work. Many scientists who use
animals debate that there is no other way to achieve their scientific purposes, and that any pain or
distress caused to the animals is outweighed by the benefits of the research. However, is putting the
lives of innocent, helpless animals worth it so that someone can enjoy a cosmetic product? On average
over 115 million rabbits, dogs, cats, mice, and other animals are burned, poisoned and killed in painful
experiments each year for the sake of cosmetics and toiletries. Many brands such as Dove, MAC,

According to Cruelty Free International, 95% of drugs fail in human trials despite promising results in
animal tests, because they do not work. Using dogs, rats, mice and rabbits to test whether or not a drug
will be harmless for humans offers slight statistically useful understanding.
It is unethical to sentence 100 million functioning animals to life in a laboratory cage and cause them
pain, loneliness, and fear. According to a study from Peta, 88% of stillbirths in humans are caused by
drugs which passed animal tests. It is obviously clear that the use of animal testing is unsatisfactory
and should no longer be legal to allow the suffering of innocent animals.
Many animals received tests for substances that will never be approved for public consumption and
use. Animal testing is majorly negative, as animals die in vain because there is no direct benefit to
humans after the tests had occurred.
Animal testing generally costs a vast amount of money, as animals must be fed, housed, cared for and
treated with drugs or materials. There are companies that breed animals specifically for testing and
animals can be purchased through

Political Corruption In Cuba Essay
Cuba is a communist nation still present from the cold war era when Russia and Cuba had ties

government is corrupt in some way, but it seems like Communist nations are more corrupt than

Poverty
Mexico has a poverty rate that s reported to be around 46.2% between 2012 and 2014 translating into
an increase of .07%. During this time, the Mexican Government reported that two million Mexicans
slipped into poverty. The poverty level has risen slightly due to access to education, health, clean
water and income as the basis of the problem.
Statistics show that in Latin America, Mexico is one of the only countries not showing any decreases
in poverty levels. Mexico is struggling with slow economic growth but has large disparities when it
comes to the distribution of wealth. Between 2012 and 2014 the average income earned by Mexicans
also fell. The average household income in Mexico is about 13,000 pesos per month which equals to
$800 US as of 2014. The disparity between top 10% of earners is that they earn 30 times more than
lower earners make Mexico.
Mexico s stagnant wages and declining purchasing power also contribute to the reality of poverty for
many Mexican nationals. Recently the Mexican government raised the daily minimum salary from
73.04 pesos to 80.04 pesos. This increase would equal to about 30 cents in US currency. The Mexican
government reports that the increase is approximately 12.8%.

The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights
Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal and
have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today,
it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African
Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to
make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she
had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color.
Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated
adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up
only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was
important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This quote shaped Addams
whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as her and promoting rights
for all people. Another time when Addams was just a little girl, her family helped African Americans
escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad. This was one of the first times she had seen how
African Americans were treated by most of the American population, and how dreadful their ... Show

Essay about The Laramie Project
The Laramie Project, written by Moisés Kaufman, is a compilation of interviews by The Tectonic
Theater Project, news publications, and journal entries. After the brutal murder of Mathew Sheppard
in 1998. Kaufman along with his theater troupe made six visits to Laramie, Wyoming, where the
murder took place, to interview people about what happened and how they felt about the crime in their

A lot of the townspeople from Laramie were shocked that the criminals were from their own
community. Many people were in denial that something like this could happen in their town, while
others wanted to make the townspeople accountable. My secret hope was that they were from
somewhere else, that then of course you can create that distance: We don t grow children like that
here. Well, it s pretty clear that we do grow children like that here (Jacobus 1640). it happened
here...we need to own this crime. I feel. Everyone needs to own it...We ARE like this (Jacobus 1645).
The people of Laramie had once believed that they were a live and let live kind of place and now they
were beginning to doubt this. live and let live. That is such crap...basically what it boils down to: if I

(Jacobus 1645). People were left in a state of confusion. Even the criminals don t seem to understand
the reasons for their crime any better than anyone else (Evans). Matthew Sheppard s attack influenced
the attitudes of many people in Laramie and forced them to realize the truth of the attitudes of others
in the community. Along with the murderers, Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney, there were

The Law Is Reason Free Of Passion In Criminally Blonde
On her first day of Harvard Law School her professor quotes Aristotle, The law is reason free of
passion. In regards to the quote, main character from the cinema production Legally Blonde, Elle
Woods, repeated those words to the graduating class of 2004 with an opposite opinion. Throughout the
movie, the viewer witnesses Elle s reoccurring effort and success at accomplishing her goals;
acceptance into Harvard Law School, entry into a court internship, getting the guy, and unexpectedly
elected class speaker at her graduation ceremony. Regardless of Aristotle s voicing of law to be reason

Furthermore, in Elle s message to her classmates she uses a flashback attention getter to hook in
listeners, all the while relating it to today s present. She begins her speech with a quote from Aristotle
she heard from her professor on her first day at Harvard; she links her introduction in with her time
spent at Harvard for the past three years ultimately stating that Aristotle was false in his words about
passion, Well, no offense Aristotle but in my three years at Harvard I have come to find that passion is
a key ingredient to the study and practice of law and of life. Elle s address revolves around the source
of passion and faith in one s self in order to achieve one s goals. Her thesis, although not clearly
stated, is undoubtedly visible in her words surrounding passion. She repeats the words passion and
faith throughout her last dialog, and projects her voice on the phrase, ...passion is a key ingredient...
All through the movie, Elle s faith in herself and the passion to succeed is evident when she completes
the goals she has set. This provides the audience the message that one can get by in life with everyday
decisions, but one with passion and drive can achieve the things one desires to accomplish. Elle uses
her past three years at Harvard to provide evidence that without a passion for law, her goal would still
remain unattainable. In summary, Elle rejoices with her fellow peers by presenting the final words of
their graduation. She surrounds her speech on the topic of passion, conveying the significance of
disregarding other people s opinions, and the importance of having faith in not only other people, but
also yourself when establishing and completing goals. Ending her speech with a cheerful, We did it!
demonstrates the confirmation that regardless of what other s believe, anything is achievable

What Does It Mean To Be A Leader
My Vision at LeaderShape`s Institute Program and My Goals There is a belief that leaders are born
not made. I don`t agree with this idea because I believe that leadership can be learned. Furthermore,
leader is born to be made. So I can say that LeaderShape`s Institute program, which helps and
supports the nation in a unique way teaches leadership knowledge and skill. By joining the training
program, I tried to focus on developing my skills to be a leader. First, I intended to learn how to
develop leadership skill which is powerful in today`s business environment and our general
community involvement. In the business environment, we need leaders that have a strong commitment
to be successful for the projects or goals as well. Sometimes, the goals can be changed and the
projects are cancelled or be unsuccessful, but leaders should be there to continue handling the
situations. So, I focused on learning how to take my leadership position and requirements from a
general to specific one which can be also changeable, depending on the environment and conditions.

Through interrogations, police can involve threats, manipulation, persuasion, and several other
methods to make a person confess. Factors such as stress and fear can also cause suspects to confess.
In some cases, innocent suspects even come to believe they are guilty due to incorrect interrogation
methods. This article is not all about police forcing people to confess though, it also explains how
police are put under a tremendous amount of pressure to get a confession out of someone, any person

Operating in Europe opens up entirely new and very large (almost U.S. sized) opportunities for sales
since most of the countries in Europe are interconnected, which means there is free movement of
goods, persons, services and capital. The entry to Europe will give Baxton opportunities to reach a
higher number of customers. If customers are satisfied with the superior quality of Baxton s hoists,
then the reputation of Baxton will be enriched, as a result. this might open up additional opportunities
to expand further in the world. Once Baxton turns into a global corporation, the company will see an
added brand value.
Currently, Europe does not have any dedicated, large manufacturers of scissor lifts. However, there
was only one firm in Germany that manufactured a scissor type lift. So far, no dominant manufacturer
of hoists exists in Europe as was the case in North America. Based on the number of vehicles
operating in Europe presented in the case, Europe appears to be at a growing market, based on new
registration numbers. The number of new vehicle registrations is an indicator of the future vehicle
repair and services needed this give Baxton an indication of whether or not their services will be
profitable.

Comparing Mariana And The Lady Of Shalott
The poetry written during the Industrial Revolution reflects the mentality of 19th century British
citizens with anxious, questioning tones, and the desire for returning to simpler times with romantic
ideals. Both Mariana and The Lady of Shalott evoke questions about the place for women during the
Industrial Revolution because Lord Alfred Tennyson characterizes both female characters as
vulnerable in the absence of a man. The portrayal of the characters Mariana and The Lady of Shalott
as weak is evident in the settings of each poem because they reside in trapped and abandoned spaces,
are easily controlled by their surroundings, and the dark and lightless worlds they both live in without
a man. Exploring how the troubling settings mirror ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Macedonian Empire that stood for 13 years. In contrast to Genghis Khan s Mongol empire which
began in 1206, and fell in 1368. Although difficult to compare to men and empires form totally
different eras, Genghis Khan had a bigger impact on the world with his empire. In order to fully
examine both empires in areas other than biographical. The focus in comparison will be in the
following areas: rise to power, enemies, size of forces, terrain, empire duration, prosperity, and long
term influences on their region. Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all.
Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356 B.C. He was born in the ancient
Greek kingdom of Pella, Macedonia near the Greek peninsula. His parents were King Phillip II and
Queen Olympia. Growing up as heir to the throne, Alexander rarely saw his father due to royal duties.
Much like the Famous Alexander the Great, his father was always engaged in military responsibilities.
Raised by his loving mother, Alexander grew to despise his very father. Like most modern day
children, Alexander was educated at a young age. His teacher Leonidas was not hired by King Phillip
for typical mental educational lessons. Alexander learned the common skills of math but this
attentively troubled child also learned how to shoot a bow and ride a horse. It was Alexander s
following teacher who finally figured out to

Comparing Two Newspaper Article Analysis
The reporting and presentation of the same news incident in different newspapers are very different.
This essay will analyze the articles about the association between concussion and suicidal risk. The
Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail present the same story with several differences between them.
Most importantly, we will further analyze some implications of these differences, namely in the
appearance, language, and the content.
Firstly, we will analyze the differences in the appearance of these two newspaper articles, namely The
Globe and Mail Concussion raise suicide risk, study says and Toronto Star Concussions linked to

Toronto Star presents Dr. Donald Redelmeier as an Internal medicine specialist and senior scientist at
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto . His research is well supported by Dr. Anthony
Phillips, scientific director of neurosciences for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The data
in Toronto Star are more numeric for example; weekend injuries accounted four times the population
norm in comparing to three times the population norm of the weekday injuries. This gives the
authenticity of the statistical data. In addition, The Toronto Star mentions both men and women were
equally affected by suicide and, about 80 per cent patients had seen doctors in the month previous to
suicide. The Toronto Star article concludes the story focusing the importance of the awareness
program to both public health and practicing physicians. On the other hand, The Globe and Mail
introduce Dr. Donald Redelmeier as a senior author and senior core scientist at Toronto s Institute for
Clinical Evaluative sciences . The Globe and Mail discuss another research by Dr. Gabriela Ilie who
relates the concussion to a number of the serious problem including an increased risk of suicide. In

Fathers Should Get Paid Paternity Leave
Fathers are just as important as mothers to bond with their children. So, should they receive paid
paternity leave? Paternity leave is when a father takes time off to bond, help out, and adjust to the new
day to day life having a new addition to the family. Some people haven t heard the term, paternity
leave, and assumes you re talking about maternity leave; which is when the mother is recuperating and
caring for her new child. It sounds nice when a father takes time off to care for their spouse and new
born. Although, some men might find it more stressful to take time off because they worry about their
positioning and possible promotions in the future at work. All fathers should receive paid paternity
leave because it s beneficial in the workplace, more companies and states will reconsider doing it, it s
beneficial to the kids, and they become used to doing more routine work around the house. One of the
reasons that fathers should get paid paternity leave is because it can be beneficial to the workplace. A
lot of people wonder, how can someone taking time off work actually help a company? We must
realize, it s not an overnight benefit, it s a benefit that will come over time in the long run after a bond
has been created with the employee. Covert says, People feel their company is committed to them in
the long term, that their happiness and wellbeing is prioritized over short term profit (Covert). When
fathers receive paid paternity leave, they feel like they can then

Maiden Alley Theater Analysis
Recently, I became a member of the Maiden Alley Youth Committee at Maiden Alley Cinema. Maiden
Alley Cinema is a local independent movie theatre in my town, which shows independent films while
also showcasing local bands and artists. I was asked to be a part of the Youth Committee by a friend,
who was seeking people who have a passion for film and how it can affect people. We meet the first
Wednesday of each month, and our goal is to find a way to build interest in teens for artists and
independent film makers in our area. Because of this goal, we have begun planning an event where we
will have local, high school aged, artists and performers display their craft for the community. Also,

President Elections of 1860 for the United States
In 1860 a new president was going to be elected to the US. The newly elected president would have to
deal with the issues of slavery and what to do with the west. The Democratic Party split into 3 groups
and was running against Republican Nominee Abraham Lincoln. The Democratic Convention
adjourned without nominating anyone. Different elements of the Democratic Party then chose their
own candidates John C. Breckinridge of Kentucky, who represented the Deep South Democrats, and
Stephen A. Douglas, who represented the Northern and border state Democrats. The Constitutional
Union Party, comprised of former Whigs and other factions, nominated John Bell of Tennessee as its
candidate. Each group had their own theories on how to change the country and avoid war. On
November 6, 1860 Abraham Lincoln won the presidential election. He received 1,866,452 popular
votes and 180 electoral votes in the 17 of the 33 states. He did not win one southern state in the
election of 1860 and wasn t even on the ballet in the southern states. The reason that Lincoln had some
many electoral votes was because he won all the northern states, which had higher populations than
the southern states. In response on December 20, 1860 South Carolina declared that they would secede
from the US. This happened 3 months after Lincoln was elected president the first real actions of the
south separating from the north happened. They were seceding because a geographical line has been

Essay on Feminism and Chauvinism in Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast is a wonderful children s movie, its directed by: Gary Trousdale, and Kirk Wise,
and produced by: Don Hahn. Disney is the main sponsor and gives the movie the best cast of artist and
musicians. Who would except anything else from Disney, they are the best at children s films. At the
same time, Disney succeeds in teaching our children a very vital lesson in life, how good looks and
fame is not the key to true love. Which is created throughout the movie of Beauty and the Beast
released in 1991 with the most sincere reviews and touching style. Consequently, the movie exploits a
great deal of feminism and chauvinistic ways unexcitable to this day and age.

Similarly, you have a scene with a widow holding about four kids begging a man for six cents in
which the man was just shoving her off like a dog or cat. After all, this is just the first scene in the
movie. Personally I never realized this horrible display of feminism until I paid a little closer attention
to what is going on around the main characters.
Meanwhile, as Belle is finishing her walk through the chauvinistic town, Justin jumps in font of her
grasping the book she was peacefully reading and says Its not right for a women to read then they start
to get ideas and thinking. If this were a statement made by a stubborn political figure back in the 1800
s I would understand because that was just how things tend to work back then. However, this is a
movie written in the 1990 s for children to watch seventy years after women got the vote and were
recognized to be equal to men. Nonetheless, I probably doubt that most children who view this movie
look at it in a chauvinistic way but if they did recognize the feminism towards women it would upset
them. Adults on the other hand, pick up on these inessential parts of the movie and are struck with
disappointment. As I viewed the movie and realized what was actually going on it hurt me to think
that in such an innocent movie things of this nature take place. Indeed, this is just the first few signs of
feminism. Sadly but surely the events that lead me to think of

2012 NFL Team Analysis
We are officially through two weeks of the 2016 NFL regular season and we are beginning to find out
which teams are good and not so good. As we head into Week 3, this is a pivotal time for some teams,
who are still winless on the season. Majority of these teams have played well one week and looked
bad the next, while others have lost by less than a less than a touchdown.
With that being, here are five teams that can t afford to lose in Week 3:
1. Buffalo Bills: The Bills begin this list as they are in trouble. Currently, they are 0 2 after going
down to their division rival New York Jets 37 31. Unlike, the first week of the season, the Bills offense
did not struggle against the Jets defense. Instead it was Buffalo s defense who could not ... Show more

4. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts are not a very good football team this season and it s showing on both
sides of the ball. The defense is hurting and giving up a ridiculous 36.5 points per game, which frankly
will not win you any games in the NFL.
While on offense, quarterback Andrew Luck is doing everything in his power to will the team to
victory with a lack of a running game. Then to make matters worse, Indianapolis lost wide receiver
Donte Moncrief for 4 6 weeks with a fractured scapula.
With all those factors, it is not looking good for Indianapolis. However, they have a favorable matchup
this week against the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers are coming off a big win against the
Jacksonville Jaguars but lost running back Danny Woodhead to a torn ACL. With no Woodhead or
Keenan Allen, the Colts defense should not have any trouble in slowly down a Chargers offense that is
averaging 32.5 points per game.
Indianapolis should get their first win this weekend, but if they don t, head coach Chuck Pagano and

Comparison Between Critical Thinking And Clinical Reasoning
Critical Thinking vs Clinical Reasoning
Critical thinking and clinical reasoning are two terms that are similar in natural and at times have been
used inter changeably throughout nursing literature. However, while there are similarities that can be
observed when examining these two terms they are also uniquely different and should be treated as
such. While many definitions of critical thinking exist The American Philosophical Association (APA)
has defined critical thinking as purposeful, self regulatory judgment that uses cognitive tools such as
interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation of the evidential, conceptual,
methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations on which judgment is based (American
Philosophical Association, 1990). Much like critical thinking, multiple definitions exist for clinical
reasoning. While numerous definitions may indeed exist a clear and precise definition has not yet been
found within nursing literature (Simmons, 2010, p. 1151). According to Dr. Simmons, clinical
reasoning within nursing is defined as a complex cognitive process that uses formal and informal
thinking strategies to gather and analyze patient information, evaluate the significance of this
information and weigh alternative actions (Simmons, 2010, p. 1155). As mentioned above similarities
between critical thinking and clinical reasoning exist and quite often the term are used interchangeably
within nursing literature (Simmons,

Case Title : NLRB on behalf of Mrs. Dawnmarie vs. American Medical Response of Connecticut
Company Case number: 34 CA 012576 Date Opened: 01/19/2010 Status: closed Presentation of the
Case The case filed by NLRB was between the American Medical Response of Connecticut in New
Haven and one of their employees called Mrs. Dawnmarie. Upon verbal disagreement with her
supervisor, Mrs. Dawnmarie posted a negative remark on her private facebook wall about the
supervisor. The remark attracted comments from her staff mates. On reporting to work the following
day, she was suspended and later fired. The company argued that her act was a violation of their
internet policy by criticizing her overseer online. The Hartford NLRB office filed a complaint of
unlawful dismissal of Mrs. Dawnmarie stating that the party was involved in protected concerted
activity on Facebook at the time when she criticized her senior. In addition, NLRB identified several
unlawful provisions within the company s manual of conduct. However, before hearing, the company
opted for an out of court settlement with Mrs. Dawnmarie besides revising their unlawful provisions
in their handbook. Rationale of the NLRB Decision I agree with NLRB s decision since Dawnmarie s
activity can be classified as a concerted activity. Reflectively, a concerted activity is that which
involves an employee expressing views t other employees with the intention of either criticizing or
suggesting an alternative response to

The Removal Of The Confederate Flag
I believe that the removal of the confederate flag is related to criminal justice because it may be
offensive to a lot of people. I feel that when certain individuals see the flag it may remind them of hate
, mistreatment , and slavery. According to an article, Hays board members, on a 5 2 vote, amended the
student code of conduct to ban the flag, which formerly was displayed with the Hays High School
Rebel mascot. The ban also covers any imagery deemed to be racially hostile, offensive or intolerant.
(First Amendment Center, 2012). As you can see there are going to be several difference of opinions
on this issue. I feel that we as country should do what is best to help meet the safety of all individuals.

(First Amendment Center, 2012). With an incident like that occurring the teacher could have gotten
upset and acted out on the students. The students could have done something worst the next time if the
school continued to fly the flag, such as physically attack the teacher.
One reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because of what it stands for
and means to diverse individuals. For example, I do not feel that all white people in the south are
racist. Owens stated, I was raised in this tradition. My forebears were Texans and Marylanders who
fought for the Confederacy. In our household, the battle flag symbolized the valor shown by
Southerners, most of whom did not own slaves, on countless battlefields. (M.Owens, 2000). I believe
the any race can be racist to any of group of people other than themselves.
Another reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because we live in a
country that stands for freedom. I mean we supposed to be free to speak out voice our opinions;
therefore, if individuals wanted to fly the confederate flag they should be free to do so. Once again I
feel that it goes back to people beliefs, morals, values, and religion. According to an article, the federal
government, in this biblical view, is largely unconstitutional. Thus, Moore and his fellow travelers
believe that federal courts cannot tell the states what to do, be it on

On July 1st, 2017 workers in St.Louis were taking down a monument and while doing that they

Female Convicts As A Subject Of Historical Discussion
There has been a lack of interest in female convicts as a subject of historical discussion. The history of
female convicts has traditionally been incorporated into the framework of male convicts with grave
reference to the male convict experience. The convict women who were transported to Australia on
ships Elizabeth 5th and Henry Wellesley in 1836 faced extreme difficulty in achieving freedom and
reputability. It is the view of many historians that women were incorporated into a pattern initially
designed to accommodate men . This essay will investigate the origins and characteristics of a sample
of 10 female convicts arriving to Sydney in1836. The essay aims to establish an alternative impression
of the female convicts that were deemed damned whores, skill less and prostitutes. In agreement with
the 4 of the 5 studied historians, I hold the view that the women were the victims of a repressive
patriarchal society and the appellation of female convicts as damned whores is totally inadequate. I
believe they were not members of a professional criminal class; they were humans with basic human
needs, doing anything they could to survive. The female convicts exported to Australia have been the
subjects of investigation since transportation commenced. Many historians set out to determine
whether the female convicts were vicious criminals or innocent victims . Garton s article researches
the debate concerning the origins and characteristics of the convicts being

One of the Best Shots Ever Essay
One of the Best Shots Ever
The soft moon rock jumped off the face of the club, as I moved through impact. All I saw was the
perfect arch of the rock as it hurled through the air and over a small rock infested river that runs in
front of the oblong green. I had just pulled off one of the best shots ever in my golf career.
It all started on a brisk August morning. That day I had to get up before the first rays of the sun could
be noticed on the horizon. I awoke to the droning sound of my green digital alarm clock, and
immediately jumped into a hot steaming shower to wake me up from a sleepless night. As I jumped

I felt as though nothing was going to help me out, so I had to have a perfect short game that day. I took
a venture over to the practice putting green. I noticed that a plethora of golf bags had gathered on the
cement next to the green. My greenside play was where it needed to be but not perfect. I was as ready
for the day as I would ever be.
I started out to my designated tee box. It happened to be one of the farthest away points on the course.
A cart came by that was going to the same place that I was going, so I got a ride. As I stood on the tee
box of hole six, I realized that this hole was one that had plagued me all year long. I had always been
fine right up until my last shot to the green. A creek that ran right in the front of the green had taken
almost every one of my golf balls. I had never completed the shot in a pressure situation.
First, I faced an upcoming tee shot on a long, dogleg right par 5. I unzipped my baby blue
Hotchkiss/Cedaredge bag and pulled out a brand new shinny sleeve of Ben Hogan golf balls. I teed up
the ball in the uneven front portion of the tee box, and I zeroed in on a weeping willow tree down the
middle right of the fairway. All I needed was a good drive to start this round. As I approached the ball
I noticed the saplings to my right and wondered if there was any way to shank, hit it straight right, a
wood into them. I cleared my thoughts by concentrating on

Ian Mcdonald s A Kingdom Forgotten
A Kingdom Forgotten is a rather curious beast. The story breaks with the concept of linear time,
allowing the protagonists to interact with various points of history and manipulate key events in order
to fulfill a grand master plan . While there are many different narratives in this book, A Kingdom
Forgotten mostly focused on the story of Damon and Radin. The former is potentially the most
powerful wizard (or lamean as McDonald calls them) in the universe while the later stumbles across a
bit of prophecy which takes his life in a new and very unexpected direction. Ultimately the story is
about the end times of the universe and the battle between good and evil. Both sides of this coin are
represented by a variety of different forces, though it remains unknown which side McDonald intends
for Damon to be on, and all have their own hand schemes that they are trying to bring to fruition.
Some seem to want to destroy all of creation while others naturally try to stop them. This is where
things start to become a little stretched. By its very nature, A Kingdom Forgotten is a convoluted and

There s Something About Teddy On June 5th, 1944, 156,000 soldiers took part in the largest

having been beaten into consciousness (Watson 3). Four years later, in 1942 the term was introduced
to the public at large by writer Clellon Holmes in an article for the New York Times he titled, This Is
the Beat Generation (Watson 3). In his article he describes beatness as being, more than mere
weariness, it implies the feeling of having been used, of being raw. It involves a certain nakedness of
mind, and ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LeRoi Jones was a Beat generation poet himself, who felt widely alienated by the upper middle class
American society and found a sense of identification after reading Allen Ginsberg s epic poem, Howl
(Watson 267). Unlike other Beat couples, the two met through work, and thus worked together as
more of intellectual equals (Watson 268). However, their union was still quite shocking to many and
was a huge disappointment to Hettie s Italian American family (Watson 267). As Hettie Jones recounts
in her memoir, she hardly felt safe to walk down the street hand in hand with her lover, for constant
verbal assault was thrown at them (Jones 36). Despite their intense love, the couple divorced in 1965
in response to Malcom X s assassination and LeRoi Jones s growing involvement with the black

Interactivity In Art Essay
Interactivity In Art
Abstract:
This essay examines the nature of interactivity in the arts through a cybernetic model, to arrive at an
understanding of how interactive artworks can maintain and augment the subjectivity of the viewer.
The cybernetic discourse foregrounds the relationship between the physical artifact (machine and/or
work of art), the participant/spectator, and information/data/content. By examining the shifts in focus
from each part of the cybernetic equation, several models for interactivity in art emerge. In a search
for a definitive and user centered working model of interactivity in the arts, a logical place to look is at
the history of cybernetics. Cybernetics, defined by Norbert Wiener in ... Show more content on

My object in writing is to examine interactivity in art from a local, personal point of view as an artist
involved in the design and production of interactive immersive virtual environments, and to
subsequently seek the construction, through historical and philosophical bricollage, of a model for the
conceptualization and actualization of consequent works of art. To this end, my attention will finally
turn to an evolving collaborative project that is constructing a low budget, user centered model for the
creation of an immersive virtual environment/augmented reality called The Dance of the Body w/o
Organs .
According to the discourse surrounding interactive art, the art object is no longer static, no longer an
object of contemplation, but a dynamic, responsive engine able to tailor its construction and outcome
to the unique dataset of choices for each individual that enters its input field.
Often in my experience of interactive artworks, my physical action or signifying; that is, pushing a
button, triggering a sensor, etc; seems only related to the consequence or signification of my action in
a purely literal way, that is, push button, something occurs. Frequently I wonder what, on a less
obvious level, is the relationship between the trigger and the triggered? What if the

Cloud Computing And Google App Engine Development
Cloud Computing and Google App Engine development
About cloud computing:
Cloud computing is a term coined for a recent trend towards service oriented cluster
computing/processing based on certain SLA and other benefits. It provides simplified and automated
process for configuring, deployment, maintenance and easy process to manage the resources. The
offering of different clouds (Azure, google, AWS etc.) may differ, but what s common among them is
Virtualization and performance isolation for per user/application.
Cloud computing can broadly be classified into 3 broad categories:
Software as a service SaaS describes a system in which high level functionality software as an on
demand is hosted by a cloud and shared to end client using thin client application via internet. The
main feature of SaaS systems is that the API offered to the cloud client is for a complete software
service. The SaaS Cloud provider may charge end user based on number of users or number of
requests hit on hosted API. Example Sales Force.
Platform as a service PaaS refers to the availability of scalable services through an interface from
which restricted network accessible, applications written in high level languages (Java,.net, python
etc.) can be created. Two examples of PaaS systems are Google App Engine (GAE) and Microsoft
Azure.
Infrastructure as a Service IaaS describes a services for provisioning virtualized operating system

Acid Base Balance Case Study
Maintenance of acid and based balance in the body is essential for normal function of biological
processes, mainly because of the dependence of pH level for enzyme function. The body concentration
of acids and bases is controlled so that the pH of extracellular body fluids is maintained within the
range of 7.35 to 7.45. The body maintain this balance by a mechanism that generate buffer and
eliminate acids and bases. A base is an ion or molecule that can accept or combine with a hydrogen
ion and an acid is a molecule that can release a hydrogen. (Grossman, Port, 2014). Acids and bases
exist as a buffer system. For example, a mixture of a weak acid can reversibly become base or a
mixture of a weak base can reversibly become acid. There are two type of acid base imbalance;
metabolic and respiratory.
Metabolic imbalance is a disorder that produce an alteration in the plasma bicarbonate concentration
from the addition to or the loss from the extracellular fluid of nonvolatile acid or alkali. A reduction in
pH because of a decrease in bicarbonate is called metabolic alkalosis. Respiratory imbalance involves
an alteration in partial pressure of carbon dioxide due to an increase or decrease in alveolar
ventilation. Respiratory acidosis is the result of a decrease in pH, ... Show more content on

The United States And The Civil War
Starting in 1865, the United States began to experience a series of changes and transformations that
completely altered the landscape of the country. On the political side, the federal government had to
deal with the aftermath of the Civil War and faced the challenge of reintegrating southern states back
into the union while also attempting to institute desegregation movements in the South. From a social
standpoint, almost four million slaves were freed by the end of the Civil War and in search of a better
life, while a wide majority of women saw their roles begin to change as there was a 307% increase in
women joining labor forces from 1880 1930. Meanwhile on the economic side, the entire nation was
undergoing the most significant industrial expansion to date, which would completely alter everyday
life. All of these profound and rapid changes left American citizens in a state of disarray and in search
for order, as they worried about how these changes would affect their lives and social statuses. This
growing paranoia among American citizens, especially in the upper class, culminated with laws and
court rulings being passed that ultimately favored the wealthy elites and prevented these changes from
taking power away from the hands of the people that already had control. Although there were many
instances from 1865 to the start of the 20th century that can illustrate the country s search for order,
the most significant example can be drawn from a decision made by the

Essay On Healthcare Accreditation Accreditation is a process review that healthcare organizations participate in to demonstrate the ability to meet regulatory requirements and accreditation standards established by a recognized accreditation organization. Accreditation helps the dedication and improvement on the performance and the quality of care for the patients. Without this accreditation would be low and the facility would not meet the standards of the federal government. Accreditation is a non government program that is voluntary, this program evaluates a facility. I say its voluntary, but not completely as many facilities will need to have accreditation to collect the bills from a state funded insurance. Most of the bills from the state funded insurance are Medicaid and Medicare but there are also some others but these are the main ones. Animal testing is a traditional approach to studying how human and animal bodies work. Many scientists who use animals debate that there is no other way to achieve their scientific purposes, and that any pain or distress caused to the animals is outweighed by the benefits of the research. However, is putting the lives of innocent, helpless animals worth it so that someone can enjoy a cosmetic product? It is obviously clear that the use of animal testing is unsatisfactory and should no longer be legal to allow the suffering of innocent animals. There were many African Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color. Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up only knowing what he taught her. In regards to the literature, one of the most important theories is the one that Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson explain in their book Why Nations Fail The authors argument is that the principal reason of one country is richer than other is because of their extractive Institutions , this mean that the institutions works for the benefits of their political leaders instead of working for the citizens interests. • 22. Fathers Should Get Paid Paternity Leave Fathers are just as important as mothers to bond with their children. So, should they receive paid paternity leave? Paternity leave is when a father takes time off to bond, help out, and adjust to the new day to day life having a new addition to the family. Some people haven t heard the term, paternity leave, and assumes you re talking about maternity leave; which is when the mother is recuperating and caring for her new child. It sounds nice when a father takes time off to care for their spouse and new born. Although, some men might find it more stressful to take time off because they worry about their positioning and possible promotions in the future at work. All fathers should receive paid paternity leave because it s beneficial in the workplace, more companies and states will reconsider doing it, it s beneficial to the kids, and they become used to doing more routine work around the house. One of the reasons that fathers should get paid paternity leave is because it can be beneficial to the workplace. A lot of people wonder, how can someone taking time off work actually help a company? We must realize, it s not an overnight benefit, it s a benefit that will come over time in the long run after a bond has been created with the employee. The newly elected president would have to deal with the issues of slavery and what to do with the west. The Democratic Party split into 3 groups and was running against Republican Nominee Abraham Lincoln. The Democratic Convention adjourned without nominating anyone. Different elements of the Democratic Party then chose their own candidates John C. Breckinridge of Kentucky, who represented the Deep South Democrats, and Stephen A. At the same time, Disney succeeds in teaching our children a very vital lesson in life, how good looks and fame is not the key to true love. Which is created throughout the movie of Beauty and the Beast released in 1991 with the most sincere reviews and touching style. Meanwhile, as Belle is finishing her walk through the chauvinistic town, Justin jumps in font of her grasping the book she was peacefully reading and says Its not right for a women to read then they start to get ideas and thinking. If this were a statement made by a stubborn political figure back in the 1800 s I would understand because that was just how things tend to work back then. However, this is a movie written in the 1990 s for children to watch seventy years after women got the vote and were recognized to be equal to men. Nonetheless, I probably doubt that most children who view this movie look at it in a chauvinistic way but if they did recognize the feminism towards women it would upset them. Adults on the other hand, pick up on these inessential parts of the movie and are struck with disappointment. • 27. Comparison Between Critical Thinking And Clinical Reasoning Critical Thinking vs Clinical Reasoning Critical thinking and clinical reasoning are two terms that are similar in natural and at times have been used inter changeably throughout nursing literature. However, while there are similarities that can be observed when examining these two terms they are also uniquely different and should be treated as such. While many definitions of critical thinking exist The American Philosophical Association (APA) has defined critical thinking as purposeful, self regulatory judgment that uses cognitive tools such as interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations on which judgment is based (American Philosophical Association, 1990). Much like critical thinking, multiple definitions exist for clinical reasoning. While numerous definitions may indeed exist a clear and precise definition has not yet been found within nursing literature (Simmons, 2010, p. 1151). According to Dr. Simmons, clinical reasoning within nursing is defined as a complex cognitive process that uses formal and informal thinking strategies to gather and analyze patient information, evaluate the significance of this information and weigh alternative actions (Simmons, 2010, p. 1155). As mentioned above similarities between critical thinking and clinical reasoning exist and quite often the term are used interchangeably within nursing literature (Simmons, ... Case Title : NLRB on behalf of Mrs. Dawnmarie vs. American Medical Response of Connecticut Company Case number: 34 CA 012576 Date Opened: 01/19/2010 Status: closed Presentation of the Case The case filed by NLRB was between the American Medical Response of Connecticut in New Haven and one of their employees called Mrs. Dawnmarie. Upon verbal disagreement with her supervisor, Mrs. Dawnmarie posted a negative remark on her private facebook wall about the supervisor. The remark attracted comments from her staff mates. On reporting to work the following day, she was suspended and later fired. The company argued that her act was a violation of their internet policy by criticizing her overseer online. The Hartford NLRB office filed a complaint of unlawful dismissal of Mrs. Dawnmarie stating that the party was involved in protected concerted activity on Facebook at the time when she criticized her senior. In addition, NLRB identified several unlawful provisions within the company s manual of conduct. However, before hearing, the company opted for an out of court settlement with Mrs. Dawnmarie besides revising their unlawful provisions in their handbook. Rationale of the NLRB Decision I agree with NLRB s decision since Dawnmarie s activity can be classified as a concerted activity. The students could have done something worst the next time if the school continued to fly the flag, such as physically attack the teacher. One reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because of what it stands for and means to diverse individuals. For example, I do not feel that all white people in the south are racist. Owens stated, I was raised in this tradition. My forebears were Texans and Marylanders who fought for the Confederacy. In our household, the battle flag symbolized the valor shown by Southerners, most of whom did not own slaves, on countless battlefields. (M.Owens, 2000). Another reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because we live in a country that stands for freedom. The convict women who were transported to Australia on ships Elizabeth 5th and Henry Wellesley in 1836 faced extreme difficulty in achieving freedom and reputability. It is the view of many historians that women were incorporated into a pattern initially designed to accommodate men . This essay will investigate the origins and characteristics of a sample of 10 female convicts arriving to Sydney in1836. The essay aims to establish an alternative impression of the female convicts that were deemed damned whores, skill less and prostitutes. In agreement with the 4 of the 5 studied historians, I hold the view that the women were the victims of a repressive patriarchal society and the appellation of female convicts as damned whores is totally inadequate. I believe they were not members of a professional criminal class; they were humans with basic human needs, doing anything they could to survive. With the increasing amount of cars came the abundance of emissions and air pollution from the vehicles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the first two months after the removal of cars, there air quality in the surrounding areas actually deteriorated because of the changing of weather (Pluske) However, after one year of the car removal, air pollution within the road closure significantly decreased and Nuremberg had a decrease of Nitrous Oxide by over 30% because of the elimination of cars. This can be directly seen in the figure below. The figure describes the change of spatial air structure of NO2 from the 1980s to the late 1990 s where the upwind pushes the air out of the city and then circulates back to the city. From the years of 1981 1985 which was before the removal of cars, the nitrous oxide was in the form of a bell shape curve where the pollution reached a peak percentage in the middle of the city, however, after the removal of cars it can be seen that there is a downward trend of nitrious oxide within the area and in the ... • 40. Gender And The Beat Generation Gender and the Beat Generation The entire Beat Generation began with a small group of boys who had all attended Columbia University at one point or another (Watson 29 38). The term Beat Generation was initially coined in 1948 within the context of this era by their leader, Jack Kerouac, stating that they were a generation having been beaten into consciousness (Watson 3). Four years later, in 1942 the term was introduced to the public at large by writer Clellon Holmes in an article for the New York Times he titled, This Is the Beat Generation (Watson 3). In his article he describes beatness as being, more than mere weariness, it implies the feeling of having been used, of being raw. It involves a certain nakedness of mind, and ultimately ... LeRoi Jones was a Beat generation poet himself, who felt widely alienated by the upper middle class American society and found a sense of identification after reading Allen Ginsberg s epic poem, Howl (Watson 267). Unlike other Beat couples, the two met through work, and thus worked together as more of intellectual equals (Watson 268). However, their union was still quite shocking to many and was a huge disappointment to Hettie s Italian American family (Watson 267). As Hettie Jones recounts in her memoir, she hardly felt safe to walk down the street hand in hand with her lover, for constant verbal assault was thrown at them (Jones 36). Despite their intense love, the couple divorced in 1965 in response to Malcom X s assassination and LeRoi Jones s growing involvement with the black separatist movement (Watson ... • 41. Interactivity In Art Essay Interactivity In Art Abstract: This essay examines the nature of interactivity in the arts through a cybernetic model, to arrive at an understanding of how interactive artworks can maintain and augment the subjectivity of the viewer. The cybernetic discourse foregrounds the relationship between the physical artifact (machine and/or work of art), the participant/spectator, and information/data/content. By examining the shifts in focus from each part of the cybernetic equation, several models for interactivity in art emerge. In a search for a definitive and user centered working model of interactivity in the arts, a logical place to look is at the history of cybernetics. Cybernetics, defined by Norbert Wiener in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My object in writing is to examine interactivity in art from a local, personal point of view as an artist involved in the design and production of interactive immersive virtual environments, and to subsequently seek the construction, through historical and philosophical bricollage, of a model for the conceptualization and actualization of consequent works of art. To this end, my attention will finally turn to an evolving collaborative project that is constructing a low budget, user centered model for the creation of an immersive virtual environment/augmented reality called The Dance of the Body w/o Organs . According to the discourse surrounding interactive art, the art object is no longer static, no longer an object of contemplation, but a dynamic, responsive engine able to tailor its construction and outcome to the unique dataset of choices for each individual that enters its input field. Often in my experience of interactive artworks, my physical action or signifying; that is, pushing a button, triggering a sensor, etc; seems only related to the consequence or signification of my action in a purely literal way, that is, push button, something occurs. Frequently I wonder what, on a less obvious level, is the relationship between the trigger and the triggered? What if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Cloud Computing And Google App Engine Development Cloud Computing and Google App Engine development About cloud computing: Cloud computing is a term coined for a recent trend towards service oriented cluster computing/processing based on certain SLA and other benefits. It provides simplified and automated process for configuring, deployment, maintenance and easy process to manage the resources. The offering of different clouds (Azure, google, AWS etc.) may differ, but what s common among them is Virtualization and performance isolation for per user/application. Cloud computing can broadly be classified into 3 broad categories: Software as a service SaaS describes a system in which high level functionality software as an on demand is hosted by a cloud and shared to end client using thin client application via internet. The main feature of SaaS systems is that the API offered to the cloud client is for a complete software service. The SaaS Cloud provider may charge end user based on number of users or number of requests hit on hosted API. Example Sales Force. Platform as a service PaaS refers to the availability of scalable services through an interface from which restricted network accessible, applications written in high level languages (Java,.net, python etc.) can be created. Two examples of PaaS systems are Google App Engine (GAE) and Microsoft Azure. Infrastructure as a Service IaaS describes a services for provisioning virtualized operating system instances, storage, and network capacity under contract from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Acid Base Balance Case Study Maintenance of acid and based balance in the body is essential for normal function of biological processes, mainly because of the dependence of pH level for enzyme function. The body concentration of acids and bases is controlled so that the pH of extracellular body fluids is maintained within the range of 7.35 to 7.45. The body maintain this balance by a mechanism that generate buffer and eliminate acids and bases. A base is an ion or molecule that can accept or combine with a hydrogen ion and an acid is a molecule that can release a hydrogen. (Grossman, Port, 2014). Acids and bases exist as a buffer system. For example, a mixture of a weak acid can reversibly become base or a mixture of a weak base can reversibly become acid. There are two type of acid base imbalance; metabolic and respiratory. Metabolic imbalance is a disorder that produce an alteration in the plasma bicarbonate concentration from the addition to or the loss from the extracellular fluid of nonvolatile acid or alkali. A reduction in pH because of a decrease in bicarbonate is called metabolic alkalosis. Respiratory imbalance involves an alteration in partial pressure of carbon dioxide due to an increase or decrease in alveolar ventilation. Respiratory acidosis is the result of a decrease in pH, ... • 45. The United States And The Civil War Starting in 1865, the United States began to experience a series of changes and transformations that completely altered the landscape of the country. On the political side, the federal government had to deal with the aftermath of the Civil War and faced the challenge of reintegrating southern states back into the union while also attempting to institute desegregation movements in the South. From a social standpoint, almost four million slaves were freed by the end of the Civil War and in search of a better life, while a wide majority of women saw their roles begin to change as there was a 307% increase in women joining labor forces from 1880 1930. Meanwhile on the economic side, the entire nation was undergoing the most significant industrial expansion to date, which would completely alter everyday life. All of these profound and rapid changes left American citizens in a state of disarray and in search for order, as they worried about how these changes would affect their lives and social statuses. This growing paranoia among American citizens, especially in the upper class, culminated with laws and court rulings being passed that ultimately favored the wealthy elites and prevented these changes from taking power away from the hands of the people that already had control. Although there were many instances from 1865 to the start of the 20th century that can illustrate the country s search for order, the most significant example can be drawn from a decision made by the ...
