The Animal Liberation Front
Overview
This report will focus the threats inherent within ecoterrorist organisations, such as, The Earth
Liberation Front ( ELF ) and The Animal Liberation Front ( ALF ). To understand these threats the
report will aggregate the origins of ELF and ALF , both in respect to their ideological underpinnings
and their organisational structure. These factors contribute not only to the past successes of ELF and
the ALF but also to the likelihood of the organisation to undertake violent acts into the future.
Background Information
In 1979 the establishment of the English environmental organisation Earth First! marked a new era
within the environmental movement that quickly spread throughout the world. This new organisation
espoused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the enforcement of anti terror legislation has also been significant in reducing the
instances terrorist occurrences. Although, the violence committed by the ELF and ALF have lead to
them being considered the most important domestic terrorist threat within the United States (Lutz
Lutz, 2008, 138). Jarboe maintained that, ALF/ELF have committed more than 600 criminal acts in
the United States since 1996, resulting in damages in excess of 43 million dollars (Jarboe, 2002). With
no clear, global solution to issues around climate change and environmental degradation, the rhetoric
and ideology that surrounds these groups will continue to attract extremists (Bardi, 2015, 162). It has
also been suggested that both the ALF and ELF may eventually turn to violence against civilians,
given the style of leaderless resistance where it has little control over the activities of others within in
the movement (Gruenewald et al,

creativity within the creative industries
This essay will discuss about the creativity within the creative industries and creative economy .
Creativity is the new word and the new value in economy. A class of creative people is replacing white
and blue collars changing the way the world used to define the society in the last centuries. Creative
industries can flourish in dense populated areas where are possible multiple and continued connections
between creative people. Although governments are trying to introduce the teaching of creativity in
the educational system to foster the growth of the creative economy, creativity is sometimes
suppressed due to the high risk of the investments that creative industries requires.
According to Teresa Amabile, the main definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More deeply, the whole idea of creative industries describes the convergence of the creative arts
(represented by the individual talent) with the cultural industries (represented by mass scale), linking
them in the new context of the media technologies. Moreover in the creative industries the individual
creative worker is simultaneously involved with large creative enterprises. Often these corporates are
also a mix of public and private partnership. Indeed government agencies and universities are involved
in the growth of some of the biggest creative clusters, such as the Silicon Valley and the creative
industries of London.
According to Howkins and Florida, creative industries can flourish in dense populated areas, like big
cities, where people are free to share ideas. Howkins takes Hollywood as an early example of a
creative city, where, in the late 1920s, people from all over the world moved to take part to the growth
of this media giant. Landry describes London as one of the best example of city where the economic,
commercial and cultural situation have nurtured the growth of the creative industries nowadays.
Fashion designers, artists, graphic designers, actors, producers, directors and every other figures
working in the multimedia sector are only a part of the 680,000 people working in the creative

New Forms And Models Of Church
In thinking about the potential for new forms and models of church, we must first articulate what the
goals are for this church as well as for the community. With respect to the church, one of the main
emphases at this time according to judicatory, is to care for the congregation. The second goal for the
church is to develop a new ministry plan that is more extensive than the previous plan. The third and
final goal is to organize work in the community. These goals will guide the possibilities for new forms
and models of church. Another aspect of this church that forms the discussion of the models and forms
of church is the idea that this is a Community church. [1] What this means is that this is a church that
is intentional about being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While as the case mentions, this will evolve as time goes on, this congregation will begin on this goal
by intentional steps for the many different members to get to know each other more deeply in order to
become a community. This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship each week, or
sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs the question, of
how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that rotate in the pulpit,
by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how this is important for
the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s words in Corinthians
about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for understanding what
community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within the model of
community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open minds, open
doors. [4] What this form will look like is a church that is inviting and welcoming of all peoples either
already in the congregation or if they are new and come into the congregation. The bottom line is that
while of course, the pastors shall care for the congregation, especially in the ways

Why Did Lincoln s Assassination Weaken The North
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a .44 Derringer that is stored in the Ford s Theatre National
Historic Site. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a small part in the larger plan to weaken the
Union so that the Confederacy may have a last hurrah. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was an
extremely destructive and led to the North to have a deep hatred towards the South. The assassination
attempt on Lincoln, the Vice President, and his Secretary of State was deeply destructive to the Union.
To understand the results of this assassination, one must understand the assassination of Abraham
Lincoln, the larger plan to weaken the North, and what happened to the other conspirators with John
Wilkes Booth. Firstly, the assassination of Abraham ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hanging in July 1865. Lewis Powell was the assassin that was hired to kill the Secretary of State,
William Seward. He entered the Seward home and injured him and his son as well as a bodyguard. He
was later captured and hung in July 1865. A lesser known conspirator was Mary Surratt. She owned a
boarding house in Washington were the conspirators met and planned the assassinations. She was
hung and was the first woman executed in U.S. history. In my opinion, I believe that the punishments
that the conspirators received was just and fair. The punishment was execution by hanging, The
hanging was just for what they did to the U.S. and what they attempted. They were treated as traitors
and terrorists, which they deserved. I believe that terrorists should be put in jail if they are domestic. If
they are foreign we should use the rules that are set by their country of origin. In conclusion, the
assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a small part in the larger plan to weaken the Union so that the
Confederacy may have a last hurrah. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was an extremely

Effective Use Of Irony In Oedipus The King
Oedipus the King is destined to be a hero, king, leader for the people of Thebes, but his greed gets the
best of him. He thought that nothing could ever happen to him, that none of the prophecies could ever
come true. Later on in the story he was told that his dad had died of old age, instead of grief he
triumphed knowing that the prophecy that he would kill his father didn t come true. In the story
Oedipus The King, there are three forms of irony used in the play, situational, dramatic, and verbal,
they all play into the fall of Oedipus the King.
Oedipus quests to lift the plague that haunts over their city. An example of situational is ` not only to
find out he needs to track down an assassin, who turns out to be himself is an example of situational. It
is no secret. Apollo once prophesied that I would lie with my own mother and with these hands kill

as he shows no respect or morals and doesn t act like a King when his fate is on the line. We also can
foreshadow what is going to happen based on the Chorus on page 703, That man will lose his empty
dreams in the whirlwind of god s fire. Greed will cut him down. This is given us before the story takes
place, we can tell that even Oedipus takes any action, he will fall. From the start everyone suspects it
to be Oedipus, but Oedipus, he thinks he is invulnerable and is untouchable, but the Gods controlled
his fate due to his actions. These examples show dramatic irony how the audience knows Oedipus

Value Analysis
VALUE ANALYSIS
THE CONCEPT OF VALUE
The value of a product will be interpreted in different ways by different customers. Value is subjective.
Just as beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, value is highly dependent upon perspective. Frequently,
the analyst will discover that the different perspectives will lead to conflicting definitions of value.
But usually its common characteristic is a high level of performance, capability, emotional appeal,
style, etc. relative to its cost. This can also be expressed as maximizing the function of a product
relative to its cost:
Value = (Performance + Capability)/Cost = Function/Cost
Value is not a matter of minimizing cost. In some cases the value of a product can be increased by
increasing its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not an absolute rule, but rather an observation of the consumer products market. Few people
purchase consumer products based on performance or the lowest cost of basic functions alone. When
purchasing a product it is assumed that the basic function is operative. The customer s attention is then
directed to those visible secondary support functions, or product features, which determine the worth
of the product. From a product design point of view, products that are perceived to have high value
first address the basic function s performance and stress the achievement of all of the performance
attributes. Once the basic functions are satisfied, the designer s then address the secondary functions
necessary to attract customers. Secondary functions are incorporated in the product as features to
support and enhance the basic function and help sell the product. The elimination of secondary
functions that are not very important to the customer will reduce product cost and increase value
without detracting from the worth of the product.
The cost contribution of the basic function does not, by itself, establish the value of the product. Few
products are sold on the basis of their basic function alone. If this were so, the market for no name
brands would be more popular than it is today. Although the cost contribution of the basic function is
relatively small, its loss will cause

Competitive Intelligence Essay
Ethics in the Competitive Intelligence Industry
Competitive Intelligence (CI) can be defined as coordinated research of an organization s competition
within a specific industry. CI assesses those who compete for market share and attempts to guess the
actions of competitors before those actions are introduced in the marketplace. The vision of Strategic
and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) is, Better decisions through competitive
intelligence (Vision amp; Mission, n.d. para. 1). SCIP s mission, in part is to, be the global
organization of choice for professionals engaged in competitive intelligence and related disciplines

Hastings ignored the warning, believing that chief executives should generally discount what their
friends say (para. 2). Apparently in this case, Mr. Hastings friend was a good gauge of the typical
consumer who liked his Netflix service the way it was originally set up. If Mr. Hastings had hired a
company such as SCIP to gauge how such a reaction would impact the industry as a whole, he
probably would have made a different decision that would not have resulted in a 30% drop in the
company s stock. In fact, he may have been informed that a move by a similar company would drive a
large portion of its customers to Netflix, but because he didn t do his homework properly, Netflix
became the loser.
Competitive intelligence analysis is a subjective business. Companies that are in the CI business must
compile their data and corresponding recommendations in an ethical manner because the CI business
can be competitive too. If CI companies were to act in an unethical manner, they would clearly be
driven out of the marketplace by companies acting honestly. Additionally, CI companies should be
compelled to act ethically as the companies they research could be forced into bankruptcy or subject
to criminal discipline if CI research were misconstrued to show their subjects in a false, negative light.
I believe SCIP runs an ethical business as evidenced by its code of ethics. Two of its goals are, To
continually strive to increase the recognition

The Role Of Gender, Individual Trait, And Emotion
The role of gender, individual trait, and emotion in response to advertisements using violent vs. non

For example, Sargent et al. (1998) found that males are more enjoyable for combative sports (e.g.,
boxing, karate, football, ice hockey) since males assume attracted to violent and aggressive exposure.
On the other hand, female preferred stylistic sports (e.g., gymnastics, figure skating, and tennis) since
females seem preferring elegance of athletic displays.
Some research also indicated that individual differences (sensation seeking; SS) can be variance on the
consumption of televised sports (McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). The perception of
sensation seeking, which is a biologically determined personality, was related to optimum stimulation
level (OSL) and optimum level of arousal (OSL) which helps explain media consumer behavior
characters like media consumption and content preferences (Kassarjian Sheffet, 1991). Sensation
seeking suggests that a demand for stimulation and arousal explain individual s preference, and react
to media violence (Goldstein, 1999; McDaniel, 2003; Zuckerman, 1988; 1994). High sensation
seekers (HSS) prefer graphically violent content (e.g., Aluja Fabregat 2000, Aluja Torrubia, 1998;
Schierman Rowland, 1985; Greene Krcmar, 2005). In addition, sensation seeking was positively
connected to violent combative sports (e.g., boxing, karate) for both males and females. Therefore, we
can estimate that HSS are more interested in violent image and message of

Literary Review of Sexuality and Gender in Science Fiction...
Literary Review
My argument is that SF literature offers a utopian hope for the future where individual differences are
no longer criticized. To conduct this literature review I used multiple information sources to examine
issues of gender and sexuality within science fiction literature. None of these sources claim to have
produced a conclusive work on the interpretation of gender and sexuality in SF. Some of what I have
read seems to be a general overview while some is more focused, but everything clearly references
other theorists, studies and texts to back up the arguments made.

In other words feminist SF is an effective and powerful means for feminist visionary developments
that are crucial for the initial attempts to embark on the cultural and social changes that are the goals
for the feminist political enterprise. Hollinger discusses Le Guin s view that feminist SF doesn t
prophecy the future but it refers to the world as it is. This is interesting because it emphasises this idea
that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality.
Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and
Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and Judith
Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also mentions
Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. We see the importance of feminist SF when
we read about works such as this, because the contrast shows that some SF writers obviously didn t
identify the historical possibility and cultural traditionalism of our notions regarding gender and
sexual identity and the roles of men and women. Hollinger brings together plenty of evidence to back
up her points about feminist theory and SF making for a comprehensive essay.

The Art of Invisible Strength Essay
The Art of Invisible Strength
Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club is a truly rich novel. The concept of invisible strength caught my
interest in particular, so I have chosen to analyze the relationship between Lindo, her daughter
Waverly and Waverly s boyfriend Rich. My questions are how Lindo achieved this strength, why she
did it and how it effected herself, Waverly and Rich.
It is fundamental to the analysis to investigate Lindo s past in China. It is clear that she is a much
loved child. In my case, people could see my value. I looked and smelled like a precious buncake,
sweet with a good clean color (42). In my opinion, that kind of self worth comes from unconditional
love. This helps her when she is left at twelve by her family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Huangs are frightened and Lindo is set free. She has mastered the art of invisible strength.
Consequently, when we then meet Lindo s daughter Waverly, her first words are: I was six when my
mother taught me the art of invisible strength (80). But Waverly plays chess. She never masters the art
of playing with people, the way her mother does. There is a dark side to this invisible force; Lindo
cannot refrain from manipulating even her most loved ones.
In contrast to her mother Waverly is not strong, but when she reaches puberty her mother s
overpowering interest in her career as a chess champion makes her rebel. At one point she screems:
Why do you have to use me to show off? If you want to show off, then why don t you learn to play
chess? (91). This hurts Lindo at the core of her being.
The pain they feel makes the fight fierce; the weapon is ice cold silence, used by both parties. Waverly
stops playing chess and life continues without a word. But she cannot challenge her mother and
decides to play again. Lindo is furious: It is not so easy anymore! (166). The cause of Lindo s anger is
that Waverly is completely unaware of the sacrifices Lindo has had to make, in order to enable her
little girl to play chess in complete freedom. Because Lindo has had to fight so hard, she cannot
endure Waverly s carefree approach to life.
Waverly is severely punished: It was as if she had erected an invisible wall and I was

Should We Be About Aerosols Not Ozone
Introduction: SHOULD BE ABOUT AEROSOLS NOT OZONE
Climate change is one of the central topics in current environmental research. Earth s climate is highly
dependent on the atmospheric radiative balance. However the atmosphere itself is dependent on the
solar radiation input and output, clouds, the abundance and distribution of trace gases and aerosols.
Aerosols are the globally distributed specks of matter that can be described based on their shape, size
and chemical composition. Despite their relatively small size these globally distributed specks or
particles when found in the atmosphere have the ability to strongly influence both the transfer of
radiation energy and special distribution of latent heating thus influencing the weather and climate.
Aerosol particles originate from a wide variety of natural and anthropogenic sources. Aerosols can be
grouped into primary and secondary particles. The primary particles are directly released from sources
such as the incomplete combustion, volcanic eruption, human activities and wind driven suspension of
soil, dust, sea salt and biological material. While the secondary particles form within the atmosphere
by interaction of the already existing particles. Depending on their density aerosols have a potential to
reach as far as the stratosphere where majority of the ozone is found. Although majority of the ozone
is found in the upper part of the atmosphere, it is still vital for human well being. Ozone functions to

The Benefits of Human Cloning
There are many ways in which in which human cloning is expected to benefit mankind. Below is a list
that is far from complete.
Dr. Richard Seed, one of the leading proponents of human cloning technology, suggests that it may
someday be possible to reverse the aging process because of what we learn from cloning.
Human cloning technology could be used to reverse heart attacks. Scientists believe that they may be

Kidney failure. We may be able to clone kidneys for kidney transplants
Leukemia. We should be able to clone the bone marrow for children and adults suffering from

Cancer. We may learn how to switch cells on and off through cloning and thus be able to cure cancer.
Scientists still do not know exactly how cells differentiate into specific kinds of tissue, nor to they
understand why cancerous cells lose their differentiation. Cloning, at long last, may be the key to
understanding differentiation and cancer.
Cystic fibrosis. We may be able to produce effective genetic therapy against cystic fibrosis. Ian
Wilmut and colleagues are already working on this problem.
Spinal cord injury. We may learn to grow nerves or the spinal cord back again when they are injured.
Quadriplegics might be able to get out of their wheelchairs and walk again. Christopher Reeves, the
man who played Superman, might be able to walk again.
Testing for genetic disease. Cloning technology can be used to test for and perhaps cure genetic
diseases.
The above list only scratches the surface of what human cloning technology can do for mankind. The
suffering that can be relieved is

Forty six states ratified this amendment. Prohibition was encouraged by temperance groups during the

Introduction: According to the article, there is documentation that there are early intervention
programs out in the world. The congress, of 1986, encouraged others to design early intervention for
toddlers and infants with disabilities. There is (1/4) of children in the world that qualify for early
interventions and demonstrate some type of communication disorder. There are many other studies
that have been done that concluded there is little known about the effectiveness of treatments on
toddlers with cleft palate who enrolled in early intervention services. According to Blakeley and
Brockman (1995), they described 41 children that do have cleft palate who enrolled in 4 year
treatment plan at the age of 12 months. 66% of the children also received articulation therapy from an

The Revolution Of The Industrial Revolution
When thinking of the industrial revolution, I usually correlate this transitional period to great
advancements in machinery, and an increase in jobs. However, after looking past the surface of the
industrial revolution, in regards to the promise of great wealth, this promise was not kept, along with
other issues. I believe that a better life would mean that people would not have to go through the same
struggles they once did before the revolution, struggles such as not having a job, money, home, etc. In
addition, a better life would have to be permanent for it to truly make a difference. Unfortunately, the
industrial revolution did not do as much good as people perceived it to have done. Essentially, a
revolution is a changing in social order, and although this did happen, the people effected who were a
part of it were given almost the exact opposite of what they expected. This essay will explore the
conditions workers endured during the revolution, and discuss whether the revolution gave a better
life, or a worse one. The Rules of a Factory in Berlin depicts just that. However, these rules were, in
some cases, much stricter and excessive than what I would usually consider normal rules for such a
work environment. For example, one rule states All conversation with fellow workers is prohibited
(p.313). In addition to not speaking while working, almost each rule if disobeyed will be fined.

Why Respect Is Important
What Is Respect And Why Is It Importantn?
Respect takes place everywhere we go, the movie theater, school, home, and even restaurants. Respect
is an important aspect of our everyday lives. The definition of respect is having a manner of
admiration, and or politeness towards the person that you have respect for. Respect is something that
holds our entire society together and is visible in many unique ways. Respect holds our society
together because no one could go anywhere or do anything because of all of the chaos spreading

same situation can also happen outside of school very well as inside. For instance, say an average
minimum wage citizen passes a less wealthy man. He might see him and try to avoid him maybe
because he looks down on him and believes he is higher ranking in society. Again, I have also
witnessed this countless times. Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit everywhere, may it be school,
public, work, etc. This can really affect people s social life and or self esteem. My opinion on this
matter is that every public area should reinforce the idea of respect, and they should also do what they
can to provide for less fortunate people and try to put more effort into stopping the respect and
bullying

Analysis Of The Loons By Margaret Laurence
The Loons: A Girls Cry for Belonging
Although some readers might think Margaret Laurence s short story The Loons is about the naivety of
a young girl named Vanessa who spent her days fantasizing about native american culture, it is in fact
about the adversity an individual faces when presented with a lack of belonging. Laurence employs
this idea through the loss and mourning of her two main characters. Through Vanessa McLeod and
Piquette Tonnerres she shows how one individual s perpetual need of belonging influences the others
ulterior reality. She does this to showcase the disastrous effects of a dominant society on the prior
inhabitants of the land and how it relates to a feeling loss and mourning.
Although Laurence does not say so directly, she tries to get the reader to notice that the loons and
Piquette are foils of each other. I agree with what she is saying in that she utilizes Piquette to represent
the cause and effect that actions have on lesser represented groups. The loons lived a simple existence
at Diamond Lake up until the day where the government made Galloping Mountain into a national
park. They re named the lake to Wapakata as they felt it would have greater appeal to tourists. As a
result, this caused the once majestic and abundant loon population to disappear from the lake. Their
Plaintive song to never be sung on those waters again.
Laurence adds this violation and disappearance of the loons to illuminate, for the narrator Vanessa,
Piquettes refusal to accompany her to the lake in her childhood. Piquette all to well knows the loons
song as she is a loon herself. She knows what it is like to be constantly searching for some place of
belonging. Eventually you re unable to find such a place, and you cease to care if you live or not
(Laurence 278). She is the only one to hear and relate to the crying of the loons. Throughout Piquettes
life she mourns for her lack of belonging.
At an early age Vanessa s naivety of Piquettes ethnicity prohibits her from seeing Piquettes struggle
with her sense of lacking belonging. This causes the two characters to clash throughout the story in
regards to Vanessa s false interpretation of Piquettes identity. Throughout the story Vanessa tends to

Capstone Project Analysis
The project, Monitoring pain in individuals who are nonverbal using a video based algorithm and
Android application , was proposed by the Seven Hills Foundation for their patients with Cerebral
Palsy or degenerative muscle disorders. These patients are often nonverbal, confined to a bed, and
unable to inform a caregiver of their pain. The objective of our capstone project is to develop a pain
detector for use in individuals who lack the ability to communicate their pain level. To provide
caretakers the ability to know if a patient is in pain, we plan to create a more objective and
quantitative method to evaluate pain. Using an Android application, we are designing and

Private Goods vs. Public Goods
Tim Randall Public or Private Good Public goods have characteristics of non rival and non
excludable. The former entails that one person s consumption does not affect another s consumption of
a good; the latter conveys that one individual cannot prevent another from consuming a good
(EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Conversely, a private good is both rival and excludable. An individual
owns their good, not everyone can own the same good (rival), and each individual can exclude others
from using that good (excludable). Mixed goods are hybrids of public and private: Common Pool
Resource goods display the rival elements but are non excludable, while Club Goods contain the non
rival element but are excludable (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Congested toll roads Private good,
because some can be excluded from its use by the fee, and rival, because more vehicles on the road
indicates one person s use is impacting other individuals using the same road (i.e. less available
space). Knowledge Broadly defined as a public good, because one person s use of information does
not diminish another s use of the same information (non rival), and one individual cannot prevent
another from using the knowledge. Broadly defined because private intellectual property could be
considered a private good if others are not allowed to use it. Fish in the ocean Common pool resource,
because no one can be excluded from fishing in the ocean however, there is a limited supply of fish

Michael Sattler and the Anabaptist Movement Essay
Perhaps the most misunderstood, least recognized, and largely undervalued of all the great reformers
of the sixteenth century is Michael Sattler, the Anabaptist. The little that is actually known about
Michael Sattler is often times assumed or misinterpreted. However, the definite information available
regarding this radical suggest that his brief yet significant role as a Reformation leader was truly
invaluable for the unification and survival of the Anabaptist movement and its teachings. In addition,
the radical ideas of Sattler and other Anabaptists have helped shape Western culture as we know it
today. The contributions of Sattler to the greater Christian world are undeniable. This essay will

The men, including Sattler, recanted and were released, but banished from Zurich. Upon Sattler s
departure from Zurich, there is no mention of his name until the next summer. Historians believe that
during this dark period, or possibly even before Zurich, Sattler was married to a woman named
Margaretha, a former Beguine. (2)
During the summer of 1526, a man by the name of Hans Kuenzi took Sattler (and possibly
Margaretha) into his home. Kuenzi was an Anabaptist from Oberglatt, and had been jailed for his
beliefs. He was released from prison on May 21, 1526. So it is sometime hereafter that Sattler and
Kuenzi connected. Evidence from a letter written by Kuenzi to the Council at Zurich confirms that
Sattler had not yet joined the Anabaptist movement or even been (re)baptized at this point. Over the
course of Sattler s stay in Oberglatt, Kuenzi taught the young man how to weave, and the two
frequently discussed Scripture together. Although there is no specific date given for Sattler s
conversion, by the time he leaves Oberglatt in late June, he had been baptized and was ready to be an
influence for the Swiss Brethren Anabaptists. (3)
Michael Sattler s departure from Oberglatt marked the beginning of his very brief ministry. By late fall
or early winter, Sattler was in the town of Strasbourg, debating and teaching Swiss Brethren beliefs.

In Korean culture, a hero is the best contender in leading the team, Korea, to victory, such that the

Kindness is the Key ...it is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends , what does this quote
mean? Also, what does the quote it is just as wrong, or perhaps even more so, to use moral means to
preserve immoral ends mean? Martin Luther King Jr, a leader of the African American Civil Rights

of desegregation. He also described moral means to keep immoral ends as the police officers who
have exercised a degree of discipline while handling the protesters, but they are still fighting for the
wrong cause: segregation. Although MLK s interpretation of his own quote was accurate for the
problems occurring during that time, today, world issues have changed, and his quote can be

Along with the other hundreds of thousands workers in Packington, I experience the gruesome

Once the supply of cans were running low, the factory reopened, but my wages were noticeably lower.

I. Introduction: The Vietnam education reform: omitting university entrance examination II. Reasons

After a few recent years of debates, Vietnam education and training Department has made the decision

Vu Quang Viet indicates that only 1.6% of Vietnamese citizens can pursue their tertiary study ( Chi
tieâu cho gíao duïc: Nhöõng con soá giaät mình! . VietNamNet. 13 Feb. 2006), which means that the
number of seats in colleges and universities are limited, and admission, thus, is extremely selective.
Therefore, conducting the university entrance exams is the most logical and impartial way to decide
whom to pursue higher study. As we can see, in every aspect, people have to compete to get what
fulfills their needs when there is insufficient source of supplies. In ancient eras, when people lived in
caves, they fought for food when there was shortage of food. In modern history, big countries fought
for colonies, which caused World War II. In other words, when everyone wants their needs to be met
while there is shortage of supplies, they have to compete for it. None can be exempted from this fact.
Similarly, in this case, every student wants to get admission when there are few available seats, they
have to compete for those seats. It is logical. The third point is that the national university examination
will encourage students to study. Thus, the qualification of admitted students will be enhanced. How
could we be sure that those who admitted into universities are able to pursue their study? The answer
is that, if they are able to pass the entrance tests, their levels are high enough to follow their academic
path. In order to pass the entrance exams, they have to

A Play Within The Play A Midsummer Night s Dream
A Play Within a Play, A Comedy of Love, A Midsummer Night s Dream Throughout the play A
Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare emphasizes that love is maddening and that people do very
eccentric things for love. In the play, the characters portray the quote written by John Lennon, All you
need is love in multiple ways. To some extent the quote is relatable and to some extent it is not. In the
play, there is tension between love and law, caused thus, four lovers escape into the magic forest, and
jealousy about appearances, while problems arise in the forest between Oberon and Titania, the king
and queen of the fairies. Oberon s most trusted servant, Puck (Robin Goodfellow) uses magic juice to

the boy to be his personal assistant, which causes conflicts to arise between Oberon and Titania, and
soon their love withers away, but as soon as Oberon reverses the love spell, Titania and Oberon love

The play A Midsummer Night s Dream by Shakespeare includes many different scenes where love is

peers, and even embarrassment of themselves, and the characters behaviors become unpredictable and
their identities transform throughout the play. This fictitious play is a comedy of love, which ends in

Self Love And Body Positivity
Self love and body positivity. Are the two subjects I have struggled with since last year. Self love is

forgiving and affirming towards your body. There was a time when I used to not care what I looked

For the longest time I wasn t proud of how I looked. The fact that I have glasses and have loads of

I still struggle to form my body the best it can be.
Food was the main factor to why I judged my body. I love food, but I somehow it became my worst
enemy. Before I paid any attention to my body I would eat a bunch. I m talking about chips, cupcakes,
pizza, popcorn and other delicious foods. But of course, eating causes you to gain weight. So I started
to watch what I ate, and limit how much I consumed. At that point I wasn t enjoying the food as much
as I did before. While eating anything, in the back of my mind, I would start thinking of how many
calories the food has and I shouldn t be eating this . Heck, I would eat one cookie and instantly regret
it. Honestly, I m tired of starving myself. I want to love food again, I don t want to worry about
gaining weight if I ate a whole tub of ice cream. I have no idea when I will digest this, but I know I
will.
Since last year up till now. This is still an ongoing battle for me. I do have days when I don t feel
attractive, or want to look slim, or watch what I eat. I aspire to be thrilled and be fine with what I look
like, and accept my body for what it is. I blame society, we as women and men are pressured to look a
certain way. It s heartbreaking to observe people access plastic surgery or starve themselves to be
accepted in society. I m slowly learning that being slim and having the perfect face isn t important. At
the end of the day, what matters is

With the use of narrative strategies, Laura Esquivel was able to portray tone, mood, and purpose

Titas true mother figure in her life, she was the one who taught Tita how to cook, clean, and

she wanted, to spend her life with Pedro but not in the way she had hoped. Seeing her love with her

The Development Of Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein...
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has progressed through today s modern society and is
becoming more prevalent. AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve information to
adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of AI has developed
using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an exaggerated explanation
of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster that
becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by learning from others. The novel itself has
been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still considered as AI due to the monster learning
information to become a more humanlike being. Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has
slowly developed the image of AI in society. Today, technology is becoming more advanced as
independent companies are creating and developing their new, unique ideas. Automobile companies,
such as The Ford Motor Company, are currently in the process of creating self driving vehicles,
implementing AI into cars. These cars are becoming more developed and advertised within American
communities, and the cars are the topic of debate within the scientific and ethical based philosophical
communities. As society continues to develop AI, humans are becoming more obsolete. When people
become more obsolete, they become unable to contribute to society due to the lack of activity. This is

though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society, there is

Boroditsky, Wade, Wu, Frank, Witthoft and Winawer (2007) established the importance of precision in
labels by studying the difference in response between English and Russian speakers in distinguishing
similar but subtle different shades of blue. In Russian there are many words for blue as they divide the
spectrum into lighter blues goulboy and darker blues siniy but in English there is only one single word
for the colour blue. Due to this difference the Russian speakers were quicker to distinguish between
the colours as they had readily available labels unlike the English speakers.
Labels have the ability to control more then just conscious perception but they can also change how
we perceive more complex things like people subconsciously. Jennifer Eberhardt (2003) showed white
college students pictures of a man who was racially ambiguous. For half of the students the face was
described as white and for the other half he was described as black . In one task the experimenter
asked the students to spend four minutes drawing the face while it was on the screen in front of them.
Although all the students were looking at the same face, those who were told that the face belonged to
a specific race tended to draw the face with typical stereotype features associated with that race. This
demonstrated that the students were unable to identify the subject as a individual after the label of his
race was assigned to him.

Erin Pattee Brockovich:
Erin, a single mother at 33, is the protagonist in the film. She is shown struggling to find work to

Initially, Erin displays an attitude that would put her at Stage 1 and Stage 3 of Kohlberg s model of

Shrew And 10 Things I Hate About You Comparison
The Shrew In You
There are many similarities and differences between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I hate
About You. The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of The Shrew was actually written by
William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate About You is not written by William. The language in
the two is a little different though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that the main
characters are the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming of The
Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is the second play
that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About You was filmed in 1999. The movie was directed
by Gil Junger and was released on March 31, 1999. Although the film was later released and the name
was changed it still has the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. So the movie and play were
basically the same except 10 Things I Hate About You is more modern than the original play. The
language between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You is completely different.
In the play the language is older and harder to understand due to the style of it. In the movie the
language is actually a lot easier to understand because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Katarina, Kate, and Bianca both have the same personality in the play and movie. They are constant
and rarely ever change. Bianca and Kate are still completely opposites in both the play and movie.
Kate is unpredictable and unpopular. Bianca is very predictable and popular; she is someone that we
would call a blonde. Kate is commonly misunderstood because of her choice to be different and stand
out. I would have to say though in both The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You
she ends up being my favorite character. In the movie she actually has a good heart throughout the
whole thing, some people just aren t able to understand

Analysis Of The Film Life Is Beautiful
The movie Life is beautiful falls into two parts. The first is beautiful romantic comedy while the other
makes the viewer want to smile but cry at the same time. Roberto Benigni, who also directed and co
wrote the movie, stars as Guido, a hotel waiter in Italy in the 1930s. Watching his adventures, we are
reminded of the legendary Chaplin. The film starts in a scene where Guido arrives in town in a
runaway car with failed brakes and is mistaken for a visiting dignitary. He falls in love instantly with
the beautiful Dora (Nicoletta Braschi, Benigni s real life wife). He becomes the undeclared rival of her
fiance, the Fascist town clerk. He makes friends with the German doctor (Horst Buchholz) who is a
regular guest at the hotel and shares his love of riddles. And by the fantastic manipulation of carefully
planned coincidences, he makes it appear that he is fated to replace the dour Fascist in Dora s life.
Dora who was arranged to be married by the Fascist town clerk suddenly starts to have second
thoughts but because of Guido s charisma and suave she literarily leaves with Guido on a horse during
her engagement party and in one scene even conspires to meet him on the floor under a banquet table;
they kiss, and she whispers, Take me away! . All of this early material, the first long act of the movie,
is comedy much of it silent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the real death camps there would be no role for Guido. But Life Is Beautiful is not about Nazis and
Fascists, but about the human spirit. It is about rescuing whatever is good and hopeful from the
wreckage of dreams. About the necessary human conviction, or delusion, that things will be better for
our children than they are right now. A film where it teaches people history and the two sides of
humanity, one side filled with fascism, cruelty and violence and the other filled with love, laughter and
overcoming struggles. It just shows that life is truly

How Has American Football Played Around The World
Did you know, American Football is played around the world. If you ve been in the military, you know
that our American Football is played everywhere. There are leagues in Germany, Italy, Ireland,
England, Scotland, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Romania, even Russia. How?
The extent of the game, has moved around the world. Though of course we know about the NFL and
the Canadian Football League, but what about the other countries. How come we don t get to learn of
these leagues? Some of these leagues are Pro leagues. The Germans even have their own Super Bowl .
But we don t get to learn about the influence our game has had on other countries.
There are even women s football leagues. In Germany there are even women referees.
How come our media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These guys would start kicking field goals at the 30 yard line and move back. I was amazed when they
moved back and kicked 65 yard field goals. The Punters, were kicking punts of over 40 yards. One
punter even had hang times of over 4.5 seconds. Heck, that s Ray Guy s (Oakland Raiders) record in
the NFL. That same kicker was sent into the states to try out with the Dallas Cowboys. He kicked one
punt, turned around to grab another football while it was still in the air, when the ball came down 50
yards from where he was. That punter didn t get the job, the job went to a punter who only kicked 30
yard punts. Talk about dumb moves!
Our American Football has spanned the globe, thanks to our servicemen. The game has grown beyond
our borders and expanded to the world. So why not let the Americans know of these teams? Are we so
conditioned that only Americans can play our game? Are we so cocky that nobody but us, can be good
at our game? Or is our so called experts, convinced only Americans can offer a good game? Maybe,
just maybe, one of these teams could beat our players, and put the experts to shame? Or can we as a
nation, compete against the world in our own

This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship each week, or sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs the question, of how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that rotate in the pulpit, by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how this is important for the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s words in Corinthians about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for understanding what community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within the model of community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open minds, open doors. But usually its common characteristic is a high level of performance, capability, emotional appeal, style, etc. relative to its cost. This is not an absolute rule, but rather an observation of the consumer products market. Few people purchase consumer products based on performance or the lowest cost of basic functions alone. When purchasing a product it is assumed that the basic function is operative. The customer s attention is then directed to those visible secondary support functions, or product features, which determine the worth of the product. From a product design point of view, products that are perceived to have high value first address the basic function s performance and stress the achievement of all of the performance attributes. Once the basic functions are satisfied, the designer s then address the secondary functions necessary to attract customers. Secondary functions are incorporated in the product as features to support and enhance the basic function and help sell the product. The elimination of secondary functions that are not very important to the customer will reduce product cost and increase value without detracting from the worth of the product. Apparently in this case, Mr. Hastings friend was a good gauge of the typical consumer who liked his Netflix service the way it was originally set up. If Mr. Hastings had hired a company such as SCIP to gauge how such a reaction would impact the industry as a whole, he probably would have made a different decision that would not have resulted in a 30% drop in the company s stock. In fact, he may have been informed that a move by a similar company would drive a large portion of its customers to Netflix, but because he didn t do his homework properly, Netflix became the loser. Competitive intelligence analysis is a subjective business. Companies that are in the CI business must compile their data and corresponding recommendations in an ethical manner because the CI business can be competitive too. If CI companies were to act in an unethical manner, they would clearly be driven out of the marketplace by companies acting honestly. Additionally, CI companies should be compelled to act ethically as the companies they research could be forced into bankruptcy or subject to criminal discipline if CI research were misconstrued to show their subjects in a false, negative light. I believe SCIP runs an ethical business as evidenced by its code of ethics. Two of its goals are, To continually strive to increase the recognition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The perception of sensation seeking, which is a biologically determined personality, was related to optimum stimulation level (OSL) and optimum level of arousal (OSL) which helps explain media consumer behavior characters like media consumption and content preferences (Kassarjian Sheffet, 1991). This is interesting because it emphasises this idea that the SF can explore such issues of gender and sexuality in reality. Hollinger references works such as The Female Man, Bloodchild , The Left Hand of Darkness and Women on the Edge of Time together with people like Donna Harraway, Teresa de Lauretis and Judith Butler. In addition to the well known feminist utopian works of the 70 s Hollinger also mentions Helen O Loy, which is an early masculine focused novel. Earth s climate is highly dependent on the atmospheric radiative balance. However the atmosphere itself is dependent on the solar radiation input and output, clouds, the abundance and distribution of trace gases and aerosols. Aerosols are the globally distributed specks of matter that can be described based on their shape, size and chemical composition. Despite their relatively small size these globally distributed specks or particles when found in the atmosphere have the ability to strongly influence both the transfer of radiation energy and special distribution of latent heating thus influencing the weather and climate. Aerosol particles originate from a wide variety of natural and anthropogenic sources. Aerosols can be grouped into primary and secondary particles. The primary particles are directly released from sources such as the incomplete combustion, volcanic eruption, human activities and wind driven suspension of soil, dust, sea salt and biological material. While the secondary particles form within the atmosphere by interaction of the already existing particles. Analysis Of The Loons By Margaret Laurence The Loons: A Girls Cry for Belonging Although some readers might think Margaret Laurence s short story The Loons is about the naivety of a young girl named Vanessa who spent her days fantasizing about native american culture, it is in fact about the adversity an individual faces when presented with a lack of belonging. Laurence employs this idea through the loss and mourning of her two main characters. Through Vanessa McLeod and Piquette Tonnerres she shows how one individual s perpetual need of belonging influences the others ulterior reality. She does this to showcase the disastrous effects of a dominant society on the prior inhabitants of the land and how it relates to a feeling loss and mourning. Although Laurence does not say so directly, she tries to get the reader to notice that the loons and Piquette are foils of each other. I agree with what she is saying in that she utilizes Piquette to represent the cause and effect that actions have on lesser represented groups. The loons lived a simple existence at Diamond Lake up until the day where the government made Galloping Mountain into a national park. They re named the lake to Wapakata as they felt it would have greater appeal to tourists. As a result, this caused the once majestic and abundant loon population to disappear from the lake. Their Plaintive song to never be sung on those waters again. Laurence adds this violation and disappearance of the loons to illuminate, for the narrator Vanessa, Piquettes refusal to accompany her to the lake in her childhood. Piquette all to well knows the loons song as she is a loon herself. She knows what it is like to be constantly searching for some place of belonging. Eventually you re unable to find such a place, and you cease to care if you live or not (Laurence 278). She is the only one to hear and relate to the crying of the loons. Throughout Piquettes life she mourns for her lack of belonging. At an early age Vanessa s naivety of Piquettes ethnicity prohibits her from seeing Piquettes struggle with her sense of lacking belonging. This causes the two characters to clash throughout the story in regards to Vanessa s false interpretation of Piquettes identity. Throughout the story Vanessa tends to ... • 22. Private Goods vs. Public Goods Tim Randall Public or Private Good Public goods have characteristics of non rival and non excludable. The former entails that one person s consumption does not affect another s consumption of a good; the latter conveys that one individual cannot prevent another from consuming a good (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Conversely, a private good is both rival and excludable. An individual owns their good, not everyone can own the same good (rival), and each individual can exclude others from using that good (excludable). Mixed goods are hybrids of public and private: Common Pool Resource goods display the rival elements but are non excludable, while Club Goods contain the non rival element but are excludable (EconPort.org. N.D. PP. 1). Congested toll roads Private good, because some can be excluded from its use by the fee, and rival, because more vehicles on the road indicates one person s use is impacting other individuals using the same road (i.e. less available space). Knowledge Broadly defined as a public good, because one person s use of information does not diminish another s use of the same information (non rival), and one individual cannot prevent another from using the knowledge. However, the definite information available regarding this radical suggest that his brief yet significant role as a Reformation leader was truly invaluable for the unification and survival of the Anabaptist movement and its teachings. (2) During the summer of 1526, a man by the name of Hans Kuenzi took Sattler (and possibly Margaretha) into his home. Kuenzi was an Anabaptist from Oberglatt, and had been jailed for his beliefs. Also, what does the quote it is just as wrong, or perhaps even more so, to use moral means to preserve immoral ends mean? He also described moral means to keep immoral ends as the police officers who have exercised a degree of discipline while handling the protesters, but they are still fighting for the wrong cause: segregation. Although MLK s interpretation of his own quote was accurate for the problems occurring during that time, today, world issues have changed, and his quote can be interpreted differently. Therefore, conducting the university entrance exams is the most logical and impartial way to decide whom to pursue higher study. As we can see, in every aspect, people have to compete to get what fulfills their needs when there is insufficient source of supplies. In ancient eras, when people lived in caves, they fought for food when there was shortage of food. In modern history, big countries fought for colonies, which caused World War II. In other words, when everyone wants their needs to be met while there is shortage of supplies, they have to compete for it. None can be exempted from this fact. Similarly, in this case, every student wants to get admission when there are few available seats, they have to compete for those seats. It is logical. The third point is that the national university examination will encourage students to study. Thus, the qualification of admitted students will be enhanced. How could we be sure that those who admitted into universities are able to pursue their study? The answer is that, if they are able to pass the entrance tests, their levels are high enough to follow their academic path. In order to pass the entrance exams, they have to ... AI is a manmade program with processes which retrieve information to adjust the program to better fit the user. Historically, American society s image of AI has developed using literary works and the film industry in order for most people to get an exaggerated explanation of AI. For example, in Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster that becomes increasingly capable of feelings and develops by learning from others. The novel itself has been interpreted multiple times, yet this monster is still considered as AI due to the monster learning information to become a more humanlike being. Mary Shelly s novel is one literary piece that has slowly developed the image of AI in society. The film starts in a scene where Guido arrives in town in a runaway car with failed brakes and is mistaken for a visiting dignitary. He falls in love instantly with the beautiful Dora (Nicoletta Braschi, Benigni s real life wife). He becomes the undeclared rival of her fiance, the Fascist town clerk. He makes friends with the German doctor (Horst Buchholz) who is a regular guest at the hotel and shares his love of riddles. And by the fantastic manipulation of carefully planned coincidences, he makes it appear that he is fated to replace the dour Fascist in Dora s life. Dora who was arranged to be married by the Fascist town clerk suddenly starts to have second thoughts but because of Guido s charisma and suave she literarily leaves with Guido on a horse during her engagement party and in one scene even conspires to meet him on the floor under a banquet table; they kiss, and she whispers, Take me away! . I was amazed when they moved back and kicked 65 yard field goals. The Punters, were kicking punts of over 40 yards. One punter even had hang times of over 4.5 seconds. Heck, that s Ray Guy s (Oakland Raiders) record in the NFL. That same kicker was sent into the states to try out with the Dallas Cowboys. He kicked one punt, turned around to grab another football while it was still in the air, when the ball came down 50 yards from where he was. That punter didn t get the job, the job went to a punter who only kicked 30 yard punts. Talk about dumb moves! Our American Football has spanned the globe, thanks to our servicemen. The game has grown beyond our borders and expanded to the world. So why not let the Americans know of these teams? Are we so conditioned that only Americans can play our game? Are we so cocky that nobody but us, can be good at our game? Or is our so called experts, convinced only Americans can offer a good game? Maybe, just maybe, one of these teams could beat our players, and put the experts to shame? Or can we as a nation, compete against the world in our own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
