Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And...
3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to
perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the
unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned
stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would
remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer
reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the
classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also,
another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short
delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned
stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of
turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned
rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In
classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly
decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as
quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats

How Does Dave Barry Use Satire
Do you know what comedy is? Comedy is jokes or satirical sketches. Dave Barry s humorous
anecdote Dave Barry teaches his grandson life s lessons beginning with the ketchup is a high level of
comedy that uses satire and physical humor to reveal a universal truth about being trendy and being a
jerk. Also about making the right decisions in life. First Dave Barry uses satire that forms comic
situations. This makes people smirk and laugh a little. One of them is in the beginning of the short
story it says, If you want to impress a woman, do not buy her a gift that has a plug (Barry 2). This
quote shows that girls don t want appliances for a gift because they will probably never use it and say
this is the worst gift ever . Another way Barry uses satire is in the middle of the short story Barry says,
Popularity is way overrated, friendship is not (Barry 2). This quote shows that friendship is better than
having fake friends. These quotes made people smile because they are two human situations that are
realistic. Another comical thing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote shows physical humor because it is very true that people believe their animals like them,
but they don t know because they can t talk to them. They just assume that. Although a more
humorous physical situation is toward the end of the short story it says, Do not be one of those people
who are constantly standing up and blocking the view of the people behind them at concerts and
sporting events (Barry 2). This relatable quote is funny because it happens to a lot of people and many
people are guilty of doing it to others without realizing it. Last but not least, Dave Barry did a good
job in making people chuckle and smirk. It was a funny short story that many people could relate

Essay on Yamashiro Restaurant Review
Yamashiro Restaurant
Dave Thomas an American restaurateur and a philanthropist once said, It all comes back to the basic.
Serve customers the best tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant, and they ll
keep coming back. (thomas). Everyone can agree on Dave Thomas, but I have a couple more criteria
to add to his idea of a great successful restaurant. If I go out to eat I might as well pick a place that,
though may be expensive, has scrumptious food because why bother going to spend money on food
you can make yourself? A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria s: the Décor and
atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food.
A restaurant located in the Hollywood hills and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

significance this structure had in Los Angeles history. People that go there have a choice of where they
prefer to be seated: The Japanese Garden Court, Koi room, Skyview room, Sunset room, pool bar, or
the lounge. Each of these rooms has their own theme and particular view. The Japanese Garden Court
is absolutely beautiful because the actual seating area wraps around a manicured Zen garden with a
soothing waterfall and colorful Koi pond. Then this also leads to the Koi room a delicate ornately
painted room that also has its own Koi pond and garden. The Skyview room is glass enclosed with
vista prospect of Hollywood. I then head over to the sunset room, where you see the sun goes to sleep
and the moon rises. The pool bar is breath taking because of its 800 year old Japanese Pagoda and
newly renovated pool. The lounge is positioned so that every 400 of the seats can provide the best
views of the city. As I was walking through these sections, I noticed the atmosphere changed my
mood. When I was in the Japanese Garden court and Koi room, I felt a sense of romance. In the other
rooms, particularly the Skyview room, I felt a sense of tranquility. Each space has its own particular
ambience but all evoke a sense of opulent calm, a rare treat in hectic LA. At the end of my little tour, I
decided to choose the Japanese Garden room. I just could not resist the Koi pond with

The Role Of College Students In Boston College
Where do the majority of college students, specifically Boston College undergrads, think they are in
their lives at this current point in time? One can expect to get a majority of answers that echo
sentiments of growth, experimentation, and overall personal development. In other words, most
students will say that college is the time in your life when you try figure out who you are, while doing
things you never thought you would do or would do normally. However, lurking underneath these
seemingly pure and forward looking attitudes is a false understanding of development, particularly
habit development. In actuality, most college students live in a bubble. At Boston College, this

Bottled Water And Its Effects On The Human Body
Everyday millions of people will reach for a bottle of water, not thinking about the effects it can have
on many aspects of their life and others. Bottled water may seem innocent but it needs to be treated
with extreme care and caution. Even though bottled water may seem safe, it could contain many
toxins. By drinking from a plastic water bottle, people should consider if it is really worth the cost of
paying for the actual bottle itself. People should also consider the long term effects it can have on the
earth as well as the effects it can have on the human body. Bottled water has always gave the
impression of being cost efficient and safe, but when put to the test are they harming people more than
what is suspected of the so called harmless water bottle? Many people will enter a super market
without thinking and purchase a case of bottled water. On average a case of bottled water costs
approximately six dollars, a normal family of four will consume on average a whole case of water in a
week. The cost of bottled water for a month would be an estimated twenty four dollars and the average
cost of bottled water for a year would be an estimated 314 dollars. Bottled water is an important
choice in situations where there is a lack of water fountains or concern about the quality but some
families might question where else they could use this money and benefit from it increasingly more
(Lauria 665). Families could always turn to much unhealthier choice such as sugary sodas

Language Influences On Children s Formation Of Social...
Social categories such as race and gender can be difficult for children to understand and sort out. It is
already remarkable that they acquire such large amounts of knowledge during their early years, and
social categories are just a small part of that. They start to understand that every object they encounter
has a name through language so it would not be surprising to learn that language plays a vital role in
children s formation of social categories as well. The manner in which adults talk and teach children in
particular are how language influences their thoughts. One example of how children have to sort and
form categories is because they are presented with so many different characteristics about a person
such as language, hair color, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The focus of the investigation was on how children develop categories through noun labels, visual
cues, or non intrinsic cues. The study addressed the hypothesis that young children assimilate social
categories to biological ones, essentializing them as they do species kinds. They explored the
hypothesis that children will differentiate intrinsic cues like skin color over nonintrinsic cues like
clothing when forming representations of social groups. One important theme is that noun labels
encourage children to form categories, especially those that apply to people. In other words, language
appears to play a huge role in forming concepts of race and gender. This idea is interesting because it
contrasts with the norm belief that children make social categorization alone through visual cues as the
children take in all the information around them and as they become more exposed to different parts of
society. Another important idea is that only in the presence of noun labels were visual cues sufficient
to form categories. It conveys that there is a certain way that children think about these social
categories of race and gender (Baron, Dunham, Banaji Carey, 2014).
The study consisted of 24 different white children for each of the seven experiments. In the various
experiments, the first one demonstrated that in the absence of a visual cue, a noun label supports the
social categorization among both four year

Examples Of Semiotics Of The Kitchen
Semiotics of the kitchen, semiotics means the study of signs and symbols and their use or
interpretation. Constant tempo and cinematography picks the curiosity of audiences mind for the film.
Martha Rosler in this short film speaks the name of the object and using body language to show how
the object works. Each object has it own usage and could be use in a mere strength to carry out its
function well. However in the film we could see the extreme strength exerted to show how an object
could be used in a harmful way. The function of the objects now is twisted and becomes a deadly

The Worst Mistake In The History Of The Human Race Summary
Jared Diamond, in his article, The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human race , explains that the
worst mistake that humans made was the decision to change from a hunter gatherer society into an
agriculture society. Jared Diamond gives evidence of how switching from an agricultural society was a
bad mistake. Many believe that adopting an agricultural society and leaving the hunter gatherer
society was the way to a more qualitative and sustainable lifestyle. As Diamond says, it is true that
because this society was adopted and evolved because we have longer lifespans and live better now
than how people lived back in the old days. But Diamond`s claim that the hunter gatherer society gave
humans more benefits individually than what the agricultural society had to offer is agreeable.
Diamond claims that hunters and gathers received more protein and a better nutrient balance than what
farmers received. He gives an example of a hunter gather group such as the Kalahari Bushmen to
enforce this argument. This group lives off the hunters gathers methods in the twentieth century. Even
by being hunters and gatherers, they can still provide for themselves. In the article, a study shows that
hunters and gathers are self sufficient and get the food they need. A Bushmen takes in 2,140 calories
and 93 grams of protein. Diamond says this is more than the recommended allowance for people of
their size. Hunters and gatherers eat variety as they live off what the Earth has to offer while on the
other hand, farmers live off the non diversified plants they grow. He then also indirectly mentions risk
of agriculture by mentioning the potato famine which was a time of starvation for the Irish. There are
also many risks and disadvantages of agriculture. Whenever these disadvantages come into effect, the
consequences could be major. In some cases, things can get as bad as the potato famine. Farmers are
always reliant on the crops for their source of food. Many factors could interfere with the production
of food such as a natural disaster, weather, soil erosion, and the timing and season when to plant crops.
If one factor occurred, it could possibly fatally ruin many of the crops which would make many starve.

Barefoot Running Essay
Footwear, accepted and denied
Running for sport and recreation are perhaps as unique as the enthusiasts who first roused the market.
Today, that market (running shoes) is changing. While the 21st century has propelled us into an age of
hyper engineered performance gear and space age wicking fabrics; barefoot running has reinvented
the marketplace, while simultaneously inspiring the new generation (Sprinkle 2004).
The idea that running barefoot can be beneficial is a relatively liberal idea in a comparatively
conservative culture (today s running community, particularly with respect to shoes). And, while the
majority of research on the evolution of human locomotion has focused primarily on walking, the
demand for a new perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, provided that running is generally considered to have played no major role in human evolution it
s likely that the shoe industry (in combination with barefoot advocates) will, for some time, continue
to influence popular opinion more than concrete, reliable research (Nature 2004).
In an August 2004 issue of Runner s World magazine, Amby Burfoot quoted England s Bruce Tulloh:
The only reason that more people don t run barefoot is that they re afraid to be unconventional.
Burfoot adds, Famous runners had gone barefoot before us, of course. In 1960 Ethiopia s Abebe
Bikila, won the first of his consecutive gold medals sans shoes in a world record 2:15:17. Though
Burfoot and Tulloh s points are relevant, there is a heavy bias that remains, attached to their
competitive running accolades. Amby Burfoot was himself a competitive U.S. Marathoner, whose
peak years came in the late 60 s and early 70 s when he won the Boston Marathon (1957) and
competed twice in the Olympic Marathon (1956, 1960). Likewise, when Bruce Tulloh and Abebe
Bikila were breaking European records in the 50 s and 60 s; a greater number of runners were gunning
for far lesser 5k and Marathon personal bests. Burfoot and other more renowned high caliber, well
conditioned athletes are themselves exceptions to fundamental rules that govern mere mortals; And

Speech On Buy Nothing Day
BUY NOTHING DAY
In 1990, in ten countries around the world, people demonstrated their discontent with consumer
culture and decided to hold a Buy Nothing Day. Their intention was to encourage people to say no to
consumerism and to remind them that they shouldn t be slaves to material possessions. Every year
since then, they have staged similar days, and each year more and more people and countries have
joined them.
On Buy Nothing Day, activists organise various free and creative forms of entertainment to prove to
people that it is possible to have fun without spending money. Activists also pass out colourful
booklets and stick up posters to encourage people to think twice about the dangers of consumerism.

Population Health Promotion Model
As high rates of drug used among aboriginals is linked to poverty, inability to cope, income, and
education it is imperative to resolve the drug issue. In order to lower the rate of drug use among
aboriginals, proper education must be disseminated. Creating a supportive environment is a strategy
that can help in educating the aboriginals how to get out of poverty. As demonstrated in a study many
interviews expressed the need to be educated about drugs, but expressed it should take in
consideration their culture. This would also mean community immersion and understanding
Aboriginals as a people, not just statistical facts (Theng Al, 2013). The government and marketing
campaigns in collaborations with the community health nurses can implement this strategy through
various activities such as creating poster/pamphlets in Aboriginals languages; organizing cost free

The Internet of Things Allows Interaction between the Real...
The Internet of Things is a vision of a global network that connects various physical world objects to
the IT infrastructure. This vision has been inspired by the success made in emerging technologies such
as Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), wireless sensor networks, and mobile communication. The
realisation of such a global object network will allow seamless interaction and cooperation between
the real and logical world.
Many of the IoT applications will include monitoring devices reporting on different aspects of the
system being monitored. For instance, many buildings and offices include occupancy, and temperature
sensors. Vehicles could be equipped with monitoring devices reporting on locations, fuel consumption,
etc. However, current IoT applications are domain specific, with no wider vision for reusing the data
generated by devices in other applications or sharing them with other users in other domains. The
Internet of Things is lacking a well defined architecture that could help create a competitive
marketplace of applications and solutions without locking any users into using a monolithic stack
from a single solution provider.
In this context, this project focuses on designing an open ICT platform to enable the convergence of
IoT applications, by exploring two core theme: Smart Homes and E Health. This choice is based on
the popularity of these themes within the scientific and industrial community at the moment. As such,
we believe that the proposed

Now it makes sense that in order to get a pack of paper, thousands of trees become an everyday use of
humans, and some don t take into account the hurt its causing mother earth for one sheet of paper.
Along with paper plantations, there are also timber and fiber plantations. Mahogany is found
throughout the whole rainforest, and as we all know it is also a very, very nice and expensive piece of
furniture. But no one seems to consider the fact where the lumber comes from. The same trees brought
down and logged are used for its beautiful lumber that today is being used to provide even the fanciest

humans have for such beautiful lumber. Lastly, after cattle have soiled the grounds of the area where it

Effect of Conditioned Response on HR Student s name Institution Abstract This report is based on an
experiment to investigate the effect t of a tone conditioned stimuli to heart rate. The study used 56
participants mean age 24.20 years where 15 were male and 41 were female. The study was purely
experimental where the participants were subjected to a specified tone either at rest or when hopping
and then were asked to count their heart beat rate using the palpation method. The experiment took
place in three phases pre test, training and the post test. Heart rates results for each participant was
recorded in each phase and the mean heart rate was calculated for the pre test and post test. Results
indicated higher mean rates and standard deviation for post test in comparison to the pre test. A sample
t test was also carried out for pre test vs post test mean hear rate measurements. Analysis of the results
showed that tone conditioned stimuli led to increased heart rates. Effect of Conditioned Response on

Symptoms And Treatment Of Retinoblastoma
Cancer comes in many forms and can attack just about anyone. Some cancers take more time to grow,
spread and show signs of attack, but it is very important for everyone to be very careful and cautious
because anyone can be a victim for this cruel cancer. Retinoblastoma is one of the cancers that can
become very fatal to someone s vision if not treated. Retinoblastoma is caused when the cancer cells
start to grow with no control. Cells can become cancer cells in any part of the body so it is very
essential for it to be treated as soon as possible. It can also extend to any other parts of the body.
Retinoblastoma is started in the retina of the eye and is most common in children.
The very first thing anyone should do when they are diagnosed with cancer is to consult with their
doctor about treatment plans. Retinoblastoma has many treatment options for the patient. One of the
main treatments of retinoblastoma is surgery. If the retinoblastoma is detected while it is a small
tumor, surgery is not necessary. If the tumor is not found in time and is quite large, the eye s vision has
most likely been already damaged. If this is ever the case, then there is a procedure called,
enucleation, and this procedure removes the whole eye and a part of the optic nerve that was
connected. Meanwhile, during the enucleation procedure, an orbital implant is put in, taking the place
of the eye. The orbital implant contains contents such as, silicone or hydroxyapatite. This substance is

The Persuasive Tone of The Flea Essay
The Persuasive Tone of The Flea
John Donne, a member of metaphysical school in the Seventeenth century, exhibited his brilliant talent
in poetry. In The Flea, he showed the passion to his mistress via persuasive attitude. The tone might
straightforwardly create playfulness or sinfulness; yet, the poem contains none of either. What impress
readers most is situation and device. The situation between the speaker and the audience is persuasion,
love or marriage. As to device, the notable parts are diction and rhetoric skills. Furthermore, unique
characteristics of this poem are also an important element of his persuasive tone.
First of all, the situation created by Donne is remarkable. Although there is only one ... Show more

More than the effect, it also has an implication. The flea having sucked his blood and then hers, he
takes a far bolder step and suggest that because their blood in now mixed in the flea s body, they are in
some meaningful physical way joined already. i[i]
Finally, The Flea contains two major unique characteristics. One of Donne s most successful effects is
sudden contrast.ii[ii] The insect seems to be no connection with romance, but by sucking blood of two
characters of the poem, the flea builds a bridge between the two persons that surprises many readers.
¡¥The Flea seems particularly unerotic in character, extraordinarily preoccupied with ethical and
social, particularly marital, matters¡K. but also transforms the sexual seduction lyric into a more
serious persuasion to full affectionate and physical loving. iii[iii]
The other is Donne s skill, dramatic monologue. In both line one of the first and the second stanzas,
the poet began with strong voice. Later in the following lines of the two stanzas, Donne himself
explained his reasons logically. The only difference is his attitude. The tone of stanza two is stronger
than stanza one, and stanza three is even stronger than stanza two; therefore, in killing it the poet s
mistress would commit, not only murder on him, a crime she is injured to, but suicide and sacrilege.

Students Struggle With Reading Comprehension
Chapter One
Statement of the Problem Ziva, a boisterous third grade student, is quickly disheartened after taking
and failing her Accelerated Reading (AR) comprehension test for the second time this week. This is
not the first time Ziva has failed her AR tests; in fact she fails them every week. Not only are these
low scores impacting her reading grades, but they are detrimentally affecting her self efficacy and
desire to enjoy reading. Ziva s Fountas and Pinnell running record data indicates that Ziva reads on
grade level with 110 words per minute and 99% 100% accuracy, but achieves limited comprehension.
What Ziva s teacher fights to understand is how Ziva can fluently read with near perfect accuracy, yet
fail to comprehend what she is reading. Ziva is not alone; studies show that many students struggle
with reading comprehension. While Ziva s lack of comprehension is not currently affecting her core
subjects; it is only a matter of time. Comprehension becomes especially important to students in later
elementary grades because it provides the foundation for further learning in secondary school. A

The Effects of Homework on Education
Introduction
The debate over homework has become a controversial one throughout the years. Most of the general
population is on the uprise to stop homework, while education providers try to endure its existence.
While the general population see homework as a burden and unnecessary, the real idea of homework
creates an obvious path of success. Part of that path to success is do to the instructors use of
homework in the correct manner. While the other path, is the completion and practice a student puts
forth for the understanding of the topic at hand. We create the sense of, why homework? Previous
research has helped show a usefulness of homework throughout our education system (e.g. Kenny,
2013; Marzano, 2007; Jorgenson, 2013; Griffith, 2013; Dejka, 2014). While research has been
conducted, there is never one concise choice that everyone can agree with. That is why the topic of
homework is of such high debate. The idea of homework, though, gives us the opportunity to expand
our learning and preparing us for what lies ahead.
Background When thinking of homework, we think of the standard definition, schoolwork that student
is required to do at home. Homework being bad is associated in every student s mind. Our thinking
involves that the teacher is just giving us busy work. In truth, the first definition is vague compared to
the true meaning of the term. A more concise description of homework includes, work or study done
in preparation for a certain event or situation.

Computational Modeling, An Artificial Intelligence...
1. Abstract:
The Ccost estimate is important for projects throughout its life cycle, starting from feasibility studies
till tendering stage and developing BOQ, it provides significant information that even may serve
project budgeting and controlling if reliable.
This paper presents a comparison between two cost estimate predictive modeling, an artificial
intelligence approach using neural networks as non parametric modeling; and multiplely regression
modeling that represents advanced engineering statics a parametric modeling.
Results show that neural networks have advantages when dealing with data that for which there is
little a priori knowledge of the appropriate cost estimate relationship to select for regression modeling.
However, in cases where an appropriate CER can be identified, regression models have significant
advantages in terms of accuracy, variability, model creation and model examination. Both simulated
and actual data sets are used for comparison.
Our research is applied for a specific package of construction projects (concrete work) based on 17
projects with a 115 records.
Key words: construction projects, cost estimate. Concrete work, neural network, multiply regression.
2. Introduction:
Cost estimate is the productive process used to quantify cost and price the resources to achieve project
scope; the output can be used for many purposes throughout project life cycle such as: Determining
the economic feasibility

Plagiarism Is Wrong
My assignment is to write a four page essay about plagiarism and why it is wrong and to be avoided.
According to the internet, plagiarism is taking someone else s work and acting as if it is original with
you . The actual author is not given proper credit for their thoughts, ideas, and concepts per the
internet dictionary. When the writing does not have the right notations people will assume that you
wrote it if your name is on the paper. If another person work is used provide quotes! Plagiarism is
considered academic dishonesty and a breach of writing ethic. It does not mean that you said it was
your work, but you acted as if it is yours. Some people plagiarize because they have a good memory.
They did not mean to or didn t recall hearing it or reading it. But if someone asks you about it and you
are silent, it is equal to acting like it your original work. One example of plagiarism is when you pay
people to do your work and turn it in. Copying a book or chapter is plagiarism. Cheating off of a
classmate paper is another example. Taking credit for someone s quotes. Asking your girl friend to do
your homework. Copying off your brother who took the class last year.
There are a number of reasons why plagiarism is wrong. Some people work hard studying and
thinking to come up with their writings ideas and you just take it as if it is your own. Next, plagiarism
is wrong because it is academic dishonesty. Also it will jeopardize your own work that you did from

Persuasive Essay On Open Internet
known about it. The internet is crucial to our daily lives now, it not just a simple fad that gets forgotten
in a week or two, but a tool that we utilized every day. The number of benefits that comes from the
internet is uncountable, for example with the aid of the internet we now have instantaneous access to
work, entertainment, medical, and countless more. Though that may change with the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai proposing to end net neutrality or also known
as the open internet. Net neutrality was designed to keep the internet, open, fast, free, and safe from
prominent Internet service providers (ISP) companies like Verizon, Comcast, and TimeWarner from
trying to charge more for speed, and specific website access, something that is and should be free from
the beginning. One author of the article Net neutrality: needed or not? states that Net neutrality is
about protecting the status quo that is the open Internet. On many levels, the term open Internet is
redundant. If it weren t open, it wouldn t be the Internet. He is right the internet would not be the same
if everyone did not have equal access because of companies trying to profit. Others, however, are
saying that there is no need for having net neutrality because it is unwanted and hindering the markets
from being able to rise sufficiently. According to the study The end of net neutrality is nigh here s
what s likely to happen author Paul Fredric, cited Dane Jasper, CEO, and co founder of California
Avila 1 based ISP Sonic in 2015, and he said, ...Small ISPs will suffer when you have failed
competitive market, with just one or two choices, you have an effective monopoly. They may have a
point in that smaller ISPs have a hard time with the current net neutrality in place, but at the end of the
day, there is more option for smaller ISPs to become more competitive in the markets, rather than
destroying the open internet just for single profits. Net neutrality is not only a simple regulation but a
vital building block of keeping the internet free and from big companies trying to cornering consumer
by slowing speed to pay for services that are free in the first place.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Everyone will form their own opinion when it comes to the ground breaking decision to fire David
Blatt as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It wasn t necessarily a terrible decision by any
means, but it was quite odd. To fire a head coach, who had coached a team to a 30 11 record and had
them on top of the conference almost sounds comical. But, something needed to change, and
unfortunately GM David Griffin decided to start with Blatt.
Instantly, rumors began to circulate that Cavs star LeBron James was in some way involved with the
decision to relieve Blatt of his coaching duties. We can all make out assumptions, but in reality only
they know what really occurred. Regardless, it s in the rear view and Cleveland has moved on with ...

Which could have been a combination of Blatt not being able to lead this team, and also the team
simply not knowing how to play together. When you watch, and I mean really watch teams like the
Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs what do they do better than Cleveland? Pace and ball
movement. That s what needs to be the main focus for this team place emphasis on pace and move the
ball around, which will create better shot opportunities.
There is nothing wrong with this team. I mean they re still 33 12 and still maintain the best record in
the Eastern Conference. Since dropping the first game under Lue, the past three games there has
already been some noticeable adjustments made. The Cavaliers will be scrutinized for every little
thing, it s what comes with having a, big three. Especially, when you have James.
It will be important for Cleveland to jump on their opponents early in the game and gain a respectable
lead. Then, they won t be playing catch up so often and can then play some, freestyle, ball and get to
know each other while simultaneously gaining more chemistry. For the second half of the season, the
mission for Cleveland will be to work on getting that bulls eye off their back, and getting back to
enjoying playing the game without all of the

The Cavalry Maiden Nadezhda Durova and Her Freedom
The Cavalry Maiden, by: Nadezhda Durova and translated by Mary Fleming Zirin, is a journal about a
Russian officer in the Napoleonic Wars. Nadezhda Durova is a woman who left home at age twenty
three to join a regiment. Every since a young age Durova was interested in nature and things that were
young men interest. It is believed that this stemmed from not being loved by her mother. She was
attached to her father, who was a captain of a regiment, showed her the proper love. When her mother

Finally with her freedom came responsibility. She was responsible for taking in two young men. My
squadron commander got the fantastic notion of sending the youngest men to be orderlies, and under
this disposition the choice fell on me (93). Another responsibility Nadezhda Durova had taken place
after she had transferred regiments. She and her group of men were responsible for getting hay. While
out she decided to wander off to find her horse so she told the sergeant to lead the men to find the hay.
Stackelberg sent me for hay for the regimental horses...I charged the sergeant to lead the detachment at
a walk to the forest nearby, and myself did not so much gallop as jolt my way as fast as I could to the
village where I hoped to find our reserve horses (149). The responsibility that young girls had in the
eighteenth century was bobbin lace. From morning to night I sat over worked which, I must confess,
was the vilest imaginable because, unlike other girls, I could not, would not, and did not want to
acquire the skill...my bobbin lace (7). Even though she had more freedom her responsibility became
more challenging. Nadezhda Durova only was able to acquire freedom because she disguised herself
as a man. She would not have never been in a regiment if did not dress and act like a man. The
freedom in the eighteenth century was unequal when it came to men and women. The men had more
freedom while the women had no freedom

Comparing the Ways in Which a Tabloid Newspaper and a Broadsheet

In my essay I am going to compare the story of John Thaws death from two newspapers. These
newspapers are the Mirror, which is a tabloid and the Times which is a broadsheet.
Tabloid newspapers include the Sun, Star, and Mirror. Broadsheet newspapers include the Gaurdian,
Times, and the Daily Telegraph.
The differences between a broadsheet and a tabloid are the size, a tabloid newspaper is half the size of
a broadsheet. You need a lower reading age to read a tabloid because there are shorter articles, ...

In the times newspapers the article about John Thaws death is at the bottom of the page. It s not very
noticible, it s not the lead story, the lead story is about politics. Also the article doesn t contain any
pictures. It consists of six, two inch columns. In the Mirror the article is the lead story. They dedicate
almost half the front page to John Thaw plus the whole of page seven, also there are seven photos of
John Thaw throughout his life.
The headline in the Times is small and doesn t stand out, it gives the main details and it s factual, the
headline is also present tense John Thaw dies , this is present tense so that readers think they are
getting the latest news. The headline in the Mirror is huge, black and bold, it s also short and stark,
and not a complete sentence. The headline is emotive Morse star John dead , this stirs the emotions of
the readers. The headline contains all one syllable words and it is also in the present tense.
In the opening paragraph of a newspaper article the journalist usually uses the four w s which are who,
what, where, and when. This is the key information of the article, readers usually make the decision
whether to read ahead if they want more detail, based on the photographs, headlines, and the first

BRANDING ESSAY
Subject:
The brand as an aspirational and cultural agent
14/03/2013
According to Philip J. Kotler a brand is a name, term, sign symbol or design, or a combination of them
to identify the goods or services of one seller or a group of sellers and to identify them from the
competitors . This definition expresses the brand as the sum of the representations that we have,
however, the brand is also a cultural agent. To remain permanently in the mind of the consumer brands
must build a recognizable brand and offer their cultural role models to their customers. Thus it is
necessary to include this cultural aspect to the marketing strategy of the brand. After explaining how
this cultural and aspirational aspect is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if this has a great value in brand equity, it is not enough to form a brand culture. The cornerstone
of its creation is a major concept; which is distinct to the brand and based on an innovative aspect (e.g.
Nike and culture transcendence). In this case there is a set of communication shared by a class of
consumers relaying the brand culture. This research of brand culture is becoming more and more
important, especially because consumers search meaning in their consumption and they need to be
involved in this consumer society that is constantly evolving. Similarly, the development of the media
and especially the internet makes it fertile ground for the development of this cultural facet.
We are part of a brands cultural bath influencing us in all our acts of consumption. The brand is a
center of social identification of the individual, our consumption reflects our identity. Especially for
brands that operate as social signs (car brands, clothing, food, telephone, etc. ...). And brands have
become cultural facts, when we consume we do not consume only the product but also the brand.
Every act of consumption is symbolic and cultural; there is no longer a pure commercial consumption.

Consequences of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1965 The passage of the civil rights acts of 1964

the acts led to the beginning of a reconstruction period in America founded on equality. While they did
not result in the ending of the systemic injustices that had existed in the periods before the civil rights
movement, it created an avenue where future challenges could be dialogued and logical sacrifices
made to make the country a better place for all races. First, the acts resulted in the barring of the
unequal application practices in voter registration. For the first time, the blacks were allowed to

Medea Hook Analysis
A mother who kills her children must be psychotic, monstrous, and barbaric, right? Every story has a
hook (something to make the audience interested in learning more about the story.) Medea s hook is
that Medea murdered her two children to get vengeance on her husband. The hook causes many
people to create a preconceived notion of who Medea is as a person. However, if someone takes the
time to understand the circumstances and boundaries Medea lives within that person would come to
understand that Medea is not the monster that the hook makes her out to be. If one can take a step
back, and attempt to understand the institution of Athenian marriage, gender roles, and the immense
sacrifices Medea made throughout her life that person may find that ... Show more content on

Before diving into how Medea exemplifies this quote, one must first question why it s a woman? Why
isn t the saying, hell hath no fury like a man scorned? Critics want to say that Medea is the
stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary
insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her and
then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices were
meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past, present,
and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and suffering
Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that she does.
Logically, Medea does the exact same thing to Jason as he did to her when he left her. While Medea is
not able to take Jason s past, she is able to take his present and future in the worst way possible, which
is exactly what she does. Critics want to judge Medea before attempting to empathize and understand
her story. Killing her own children to strip Jason of everything is a punishment so unimaginable, some
might say it is even worse than hell. William Congreve once wrote, Heav n has no Rage, like Love to
Hatred turn d,/ Nor Hell a Fury, like a woman

Roland Barthes The Rhetoric Of The Image Analysis
In his essay The Rhetoric of The Image, Roland Barthes explores the relationship between image and
meaning. He centres his discussion around the advertisement as advertising is a medium in which
there is an intended message being sent to the viewer. Barthes puts forward that if an image contains
signs, in advertising the signs are full , as these signs are formed with the viewer in mind so that the
intended message is not missed.
Barthes states that there are three messages that comprise a reading of an image:
The Linguistic message
The Iconic (symbolic/ connotated) message
The Denotated message (comprised of the physical objects within the image)
The linguistic message is that which is provided by text and, according to Barthes, is ... Show more

It creates an illogical connection between here now and the there then . As the photograph is a means
of recording a moment, it always contains stupefying evidence of this is how it was . In this way, the
denoted image can naturalise the connoted image as photographs retain a kind of natural being there
of objects ; that is, the quality of having recorded a moment in time. Barthes stresses that as
technology continues to develop the diffusion of information (and notably of images), the more it
provides the means of masking the constructed meaning under the appearance of the given meaning
(P159 60).
Connotation or the iconic message is not as easily explained as either the denotive or linguistic
messages. Significantly Barthes has left the discussion of this message to the very end of his essay.
The signs that constitute connotation are discontinuous. There is no definite way in which to interpret
the separate, connotative message and in the composition of the three (denotative, connotative and
linguistic) signs an aesthetic signified is carried. In much the same way as in text; when intonation is
applied, it is a separate signifier than that of the text itself in a linguistic

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And... 3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also, another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats ... • 3. How Does Dave Barry Use Satire Do you know what comedy is? Comedy is jokes or satirical sketches. Dave Barry s humorous anecdote Dave Barry teaches his grandson life s lessons beginning with the ketchup is a high level of comedy that uses satire and physical humor to reveal a universal truth about being trendy and being a jerk. Also about making the right decisions in life. First Dave Barry uses satire that forms comic situations. This makes people smirk and laugh a little. One of them is in the beginning of the short story it says, If you want to impress a woman, do not buy her a gift that has a plug (Barry 2). This quote shows that girls don t want appliances for a gift because they will probably never use it and say this is the worst gift ever . Another way Barry uses satire is in the middle of the short story Barry says, Popularity is way overrated, friendship is not (Barry 2). This quote shows that friendship is better than having fake friends. These quotes made people smile because they are two human situations that are realistic. Another comical thing ... They just assume that. Although a more humorous physical situation is toward the end of the short story it says, Do not be one of those people who are constantly standing up and blocking the view of the people behind them at concerts and sporting events (Barry 2). This relatable quote is funny because it happens to a lot of people and many people are guilty of doing it to others without realizing it. Last but not least, Dave Barry did a good job in making people chuckle and smirk. It was a funny short story that many people could relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Yamashiro Restaurant Review Yamashiro Restaurant Dave Thomas an American restaurateur and a philanthropist once said, It all comes back to the basic. Serve customers the best tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant, and they ll keep coming back. (thomas). Everyone can agree on Dave Thomas, but I have a couple more criteria to add to his idea of a great successful restaurant. If I go out to eat I might as well pick a place that, though may be expensive, has scrumptious food because why bother going to spend money on food you can make yourself? A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria s: the Décor and atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food. A restaurant located in the Hollywood hills and ... People that go there have a choice of where they prefer to be seated: The Japanese Garden Court, Koi room, Skyview room, Sunset room, pool bar, or the lounge. Each of these rooms has their own theme and particular view. The Japanese Garden Court is absolutely beautiful because the actual seating area wraps around a manicured Zen garden with a soothing waterfall and colorful Koi pond. Then this also leads to the Koi room a delicate ornately painted room that also has its own Koi pond and garden. The Skyview room is glass enclosed with vista prospect of Hollywood. I then head over to the sunset room, where you see the sun goes to sleep and the moon rises. The pool bar is breath taking because of its 800 year old Japanese Pagoda and newly renovated pool. The lounge is positioned so that every 400 of the seats can provide the best views of the city. As I was walking through these sections, I noticed the atmosphere changed my mood. When I was in the Japanese Garden court and Koi room, I felt a sense of romance. In the other rooms, particularly the Skyview room, I felt a sense of tranquility. Each space has its own particular ambience but all evoke a sense of opulent calm, a rare treat in hectic LA. At the end of my little tour, I decided to choose the Japanese Garden room. I just could not resist the Koi pond with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One can expect to get a majority of answers that echo sentiments of growth, experimentation, and overall personal development. In other words, most students will say that college is the time in your life when you try figure out who you are, while doing things you never thought you would do or would do normally. • 6. Bottled Water And Its Effects On The Human Body Everyday millions of people will reach for a bottle of water, not thinking about the effects it can have on many aspects of their life and others. Bottled water may seem innocent but it needs to be treated with extreme care and caution. Even though bottled water may seem safe, it could contain many toxins. By drinking from a plastic water bottle, people should consider if it is really worth the cost of paying for the actual bottle itself. People should also consider the long term effects it can have on the earth as well as the effects it can have on the human body. Bottled water has always gave the impression of being cost efficient and safe, but when put to the test are they harming people more than what is suspected of the so called harmless water bottle? Many people will enter a super market without thinking and purchase a case of bottled water. On average a case of bottled water costs approximately six dollars, a normal family of four will consume on average a whole case of water in a week. The cost of bottled water for a month would be an estimated twenty four dollars and the average cost of bottled water for a year would be an estimated 314 dollars. Bottled water is an important choice in situations where there is a lack of water fountains or concern about the quality but some families might question where else they could use this money and benefit from it increasingly more (Lauria 665). Families could always turn to much unhealthier choice such as sugary sodas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Language Influences On Children s Formation Of Social... Social categories such as race and gender can be difficult for children to understand and sort out. It is already remarkable that they acquire such large amounts of knowledge during their early years, and social categories are just a small part of that. They start to understand that every object they encounter has a name through language so it would not be surprising to learn that language plays a vital role in children s formation of social categories as well. The manner in which adults talk and teach children in particular are how language influences their thoughts. One example of how children have to sort and form categories is because they are presented with so many different characteristics about a person such as language, hair color, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The focus of the investigation was on how children develop categories through noun labels, visual cues, or non intrinsic cues. The study addressed the hypothesis that young children assimilate social categories to biological ones, essentializing them as they do species kinds. They explored the hypothesis that children will differentiate intrinsic cues like skin color over nonintrinsic cues like clothing when forming representations of social groups. One important theme is that noun labels encourage children to form categories, especially those that apply to people. In other words, language appears to play a huge role in forming concepts of race and gender. This idea is interesting because it contrasts with the norm belief that children make social categorization alone through visual cues as the children take in all the information around them and as they become more exposed to different parts of society. Another important idea is that only in the presence of noun labels were visual cues sufficient to form categories. It conveys that there is a certain way that children think about these social categories of race and gender (Baron, Dunham, Banaji Carey, 2014). The study consisted of 24 different white children for each of the seven experiments. In the various experiments, the first one demonstrated that in the absence of a visual cue, a noun label supports the social categorization among both four year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Constant tempo and cinematography picks the curiosity of audiences mind for the film. Martha Rosler in this short film speaks the name of the object and using body language to show how the object works. Each object has it own usage and could be use in a mere strength to carry out its function well. However in the film we could see the extreme strength exerted to show how an object could be used in a harmful way. The function of the objects now is twisted and becomes a deadly weapon. Unlike Semiotics of the kitchen, that we could conclude the mood through the energy in ones speech; Todd Haynes direct it without any dialogue but background sounds and music to make us feel the isolated mood of one. One of the examples of background sounds that leave a great impression on me was the scene when she get choke by the fumes; the sound of the car moving when her window was down, the sound of her closing up the car window and her serious continuous coughing. In that scene there was no speech and only background noise, this engages the audience as a part of the scene itself. The setting of sets and props were simple that further the isolation of a person and situation and loneliness, however the strong focus of the actress actions make the scene feel alive. • 9. The Worst Mistake In The History Of The Human Race Summary Jared Diamond, in his article, The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human race , explains that the worst mistake that humans made was the decision to change from a hunter gatherer society into an agriculture society. Jared Diamond gives evidence of how switching from an agricultural society was a bad mistake. Many believe that adopting an agricultural society and leaving the hunter gatherer society was the way to a more qualitative and sustainable lifestyle. As Diamond says, it is true that because this society was adopted and evolved because we have longer lifespans and live better now than how people lived back in the old days. But Diamond`s claim that the hunter gatherer society gave humans more benefits individually than what the agricultural society had to offer is agreeable. Diamond claims that hunters and gathers received more protein and a better nutrient balance than what farmers received. He gives an example of a hunter gather group such as the Kalahari Bushmen to enforce this argument. This group lives off the hunters gathers methods in the twentieth century. Even by being hunters and gatherers, they can still provide for themselves. In the article, a study shows that hunters and gathers are self sufficient and get the food they need. A Bushmen takes in 2,140 calories and 93 grams of protein. Diamond says this is more than the recommended allowance for people of their size. Hunters and gatherers eat variety as they live off what the Earth has to offer while on the other hand, farmers live off the non diversified plants they grow. He then also indirectly mentions risk of agriculture by mentioning the potato famine which was a time of starvation for the Irish. There are also many risks and disadvantages of agriculture. Whenever these disadvantages come into effect, the consequences could be major. In some cases, things can get as bad as the potato famine. Farmers are always reliant on the crops for their source of food. Many factors could interfere with the production of food such as a natural disaster, weather, soil erosion, and the timing and season when to plant crops. If one factor occurred, it could possibly fatally ruin many of the crops which would make many starve. In agricultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Barefoot Running Essay Footwear, accepted and denied Running for sport and recreation are perhaps as unique as the enthusiasts who first roused the market. Today, that market (running shoes) is changing. While the 21st century has propelled us into an age of hyper engineered performance gear and space age wicking fabrics; barefoot running has reinvented the marketplace, while simultaneously inspiring the new generation (Sprinkle 2004). The idea that running barefoot can be beneficial is a relatively liberal idea in a comparatively conservative culture (today s running community, particularly with respect to shoes). And, while the majority of research on the evolution of human locomotion has focused primarily on walking, the demand for a new perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, provided that running is generally considered to have played no major role in human evolution it s likely that the shoe industry (in combination with barefoot advocates) will, for some time, continue to influence popular opinion more than concrete, reliable research (Nature 2004). In an August 2004 issue of Runner s World magazine, Amby Burfoot quoted England s Bruce Tulloh: The only reason that more people don t run barefoot is that they re afraid to be unconventional. Burfoot adds, Famous runners had gone barefoot before us, of course. In 1960 Ethiopia s Abebe Bikila, won the first of his consecutive gold medals sans shoes in a world record 2:15:17. Though Burfoot and Tulloh s points are relevant, there is a heavy bias that remains, attached to their competitive running accolades. Amby Burfoot was himself a competitive U.S. Marathoner, whose peak years came in the late 60 s and early 70 s when he won the Boston Marathon (1957) and competed twice in the Olympic Marathon (1956, 1960). Likewise, when Bruce Tulloh and Abebe Bikila were breaking European records in the 50 s and 60 s; a greater number of runners were gunning for far lesser 5k and Marathon personal bests. In order to lower the rate of drug use among aboriginals, proper education must be disseminated. Creating a supportive environment is a strategy that can help in educating the aboriginals how to get out of poverty. As demonstrated in a study many interviews expressed the need to be educated about drugs, but expressed it should take in consideration their culture. This would also mean community immersion and understanding Aboriginals as a people, not just statistical facts (Theng Al, 2013). • 14. The Internet of Things Allows Interaction between the Real... The Internet of Things is a vision of a global network that connects various physical world objects to the IT infrastructure. This vision has been inspired by the success made in emerging technologies such as Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), wireless sensor networks, and mobile communication. The realisation of such a global object network will allow seamless interaction and cooperation between the real and logical world. Many of the IoT applications will include monitoring devices reporting on different aspects of the system being monitored. For instance, many buildings and offices include occupancy, and temperature sensors. Vehicles could be equipped with monitoring devices reporting on locations, fuel consumption, etc. However, current IoT applications are domain specific, with no wider vision for reusing the data generated by devices in other applications or sharing them with other users in other domains. The Internet of Things is lacking a well defined architecture that could help create a competitive marketplace of applications and solutions without locking any users into using a monolithic stack from a single solution provider. In this context, this project focuses on designing an open ICT platform to enable the convergence of IoT applications, by exploring two core theme: Smart Homes and E Health. Even if this has a great value in brand equity, it is not enough to form a brand culture. The cornerstone of its creation is a major concept; which is distinct to the brand and based on an innovative aspect (e.g. Nike and culture transcendence). In this case there is a set of communication shared by a class of consumers relaying the brand culture. This research of brand culture is becoming more and more important, especially because consumers search meaning in their consumption and they need to be involved in this consumer society that is constantly evolving. Similarly, the development of the media and especially the internet makes it fertile ground for the development of this cultural facet. We are part of a brands cultural bath influencing us in all our acts of consumption. The brand is a center of social identification of the individual, our consumption reflects our identity. Especially for brands that operate as social signs (car brands, clothing, food, telephone, etc. ...). And brands have become cultural facts, when we consume we do not consume only the product but also the brand. Consequences Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 And 1965 Consequences of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1965 The passage of the civil rights acts of 1964 and 1965 had immense impacts, especially on the unification of the American society. The passage of the acts led to the beginning of a reconstruction period in America founded on equality. While they did not result in the ending of the systemic injustices that had existed in the periods before the civil rights movement, it created an avenue where future challenges could be dialogued and logical sacrifices made to make the country a better place for all races. First, the acts resulted in the barring of the unequal application practices in voter registration. For the first time, the blacks were allowed to register as voters and choose their leaders. ... • 37. Medea Hook Analysis A mother who kills her children must be psychotic, monstrous, and barbaric, right? Every story has a hook (something to make the audience interested in learning more about the story.) Medea s hook is that Medea murdered her two children to get vengeance on her husband. The hook causes many people to create a preconceived notion of who Medea is as a person. However, if someone takes the time to understand the circumstances and boundaries Medea lives within that person would come to understand that Medea is not the monster that the hook makes her out to be. If one can take a step back, and attempt to understand the institution of Athenian marriage, gender roles, and the immense sacrifices Medea made throughout her life that person may find that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before diving into how Medea exemplifies this quote, one must first question why it s a woman? Why isn t the saying, hell hath no fury like a man scorned? Critics want to say that Medea is the stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her and then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices were meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past, present, and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and suffering Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that she does. Logically, Medea does the exact same thing to Jason as he did to her when he left her. While Medea is not able to take Jason s past, she is able to take his present and future in the worst way possible, which is exactly what she does. Critics want to judge Medea before attempting to empathize and understand her story. Killing her own children to strip Jason of everything is a punishment so unimaginable, some might say it is even worse than hell. William Congreve once wrote, Heav n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn d,/ Nor Hell a Fury, like a woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Roland Barthes The Rhetoric Of The Image Analysis In his essay The Rhetoric of The Image, Roland Barthes explores the relationship between image and meaning. He centres his discussion around the advertisement as advertising is a medium in which there is an intended message being sent to the viewer. Barthes puts forward that if an image contains signs, in advertising the signs are full , as these signs are formed with the viewer in mind so that the intended message is not missed. Barthes states that there are three messages that comprise a reading of an image: The Linguistic message The Iconic (symbolic/ connotated) message The Denotated message (comprised of the physical objects within the image) The linguistic message is that which is provided by text and, according to Barthes, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It creates an illogical connection between here now and the there then . As the photograph is a means of recording a moment, it always contains stupefying evidence of this is how it was . In this way, the denoted image can naturalise the connoted image as photographs retain a kind of natural being there of objects ; that is, the quality of having recorded a moment in time. Barthes stresses that as technology continues to develop the diffusion of information (and notably of images), the more it provides the means of masking the constructed meaning under the appearance of the given meaning (P159 60). Connotation or the iconic message is not as easily explained as either the denotive or linguistic messages. Significantly Barthes has left the discussion of this message to the very end of his essay. The signs that constitute connotation are discontinuous. There is no definite way in which to interpret the separate, connotative message and in the composition of the three (denotative, connotative and linguistic) signs an aesthetic signified is carried. In much the same way as in text; when intonation is applied, it is a separate signifier than that of the text itself in a linguistic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
