A Scandal in Bohemia Essay
Tammy Coleman
Dr. Wilson
The Bohemian Scandal
In Conan Doyle s short story A Scandal in Bohemia (1888), Sherlock Holmes can tell that the
stranger possess great wealth before he speaks a single word. Sherlock Holmes analyzes
everything when it comes to people. He uses their appearance, how they carry themselves, and
what kind of objects they have on them. The author uses descriptive words to describe the way the
stranger looked. This essay will prove that Sherlock Holmes is so observant of everyone, that he
can tell who you are before speaking to you. In the short story A Scandal in BohemiaMr. Sherlock
Holmes receives a letter of the most secretive importance. In this letter, it was stated that the person

A man with luxury would have an area where he can get exercise regularly and would be well
nourished. Watson describes his clothing as rich but bad in taste. In many countries being gaudy is
a sign of having wealth. It is a way of expressing that they have more money than everyone else.
The stranger has bands of astrakhan on his sleeves. Astrakhan is fur from a young lambs coat.
People with money tend to wear fur that no one else can afford. He was wearing a cloak with
flame coloured silk. Silk is a precious material that only the rich could trade for. His brooch had
a single flaming beryl. A beryl is a gem, and gems were used as jewelry. The beryl was most
likely a rare gem because Watson described it as a flaming beryl. It was intensely passionate to
the eye. The boots were trimmed with rich brown fur. Notice that he did not describe the fur as
just fur. He stated that it was a rich brown fur. As stated before, most likely an animal s fur that is
rare. The man had his face covered with a black vizard. The man was trying to hide his identity
with a black vizard. Only someone who would be recognized would wear a mask. The man
made sure that Holmes could not see his face because his hand was still raised to ensure it was
covered. This was to ensure his identity was concealed. Watson described his face of having strong
features and to have a length of obstinancy. The man knows what he wants and gets it. He has

Learning Through Play And Active Involvement
Introduction
The key messages highlighted in the Foundation Phase are emphasising learning through play, the
role of the adult in relation to balancing adult led and child initiative activities, involving children
in planning, developing children s observation, creative and expressive skills and more use of the
outdoor environment for solving real life problems and experiential learning. All children have the
right to receive a full education and schools must provide an inclusive curriculum that will offer
opportunities for all children to achieve their full potential and receive the experiences they are
entitled to (Framework, 2008). This supports a statement in the United Nations Convention on the
Rights of the Child all children and young people must be provided with an education that
develops their personality and talents to the full (Framework, 2008). School is the time where
children develop most of the skills they will use later in life and therefore it is crucial they benefit
from these educational experiences.
Emphasising Learning through Play and Active Involvement
Play is an important part in a child s learning experience as children learn best from being actively
involved and experimenting. The Foundation Phase wants practitioners to recognise that children
learn through first hand experiential learning in an environment that is relevant to a child s interest.
Hall, N. and Abbott, L. (1992) support this as they suggest not only is play beneficial but also

Wiz Khalifa House In The Hills Analysis
Anthoney DiModica Anthoney DiModica When a song plays, sometimes it can just jump out
and hit whoever is listening and take that person away. others can just be bland and blah. There
are some songs though that do have meaning and a story behind them. House In the Hills by Wiz
Khalifa tells the story about the artist s life, and how people focus on some of his bad habits
instead of focusing on all of the good he has done for himself, and all the beneficial things he has
accomplished. People tend to look at the stereotypical black person and focus on all of the bad
situations that they may have come from, instead of looking for the good in the person and looking
at the paths that they have made for themselves. Everyone has their own story; it is up to them to
tell it, and it is up to others to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If someone has a bad habit people judge them and base the way they view them because their
bad habit and not by the good that they have done for themselves or their families. In this song
by Wiz Khalifa, he tells us how people talk about his bad habits by saying, What they don t talk
about the kid that came from nothin ; Who stuck to what he believed in and turned himself to
something great; They should use that story to motivate; But instead they d rather focus on the
fact that he s a pothead; Not the fact there s not a lot where I live, 25 and not dead. In these
verses, Wiz Khalifa is saying that in his life people don t talk about how he has gotten away from
the bad places in his life. Fans, disbelievers, media, and whoever else want to focus on his bad
habit of smoking, and they try ruining his reputation because of that. Khalifa

South Carolina Bully
I m just a girl from a small town called Dale, South Carolina. I grew up here most of my life but I
ve been back and forth to North Carolina. I currently live in Burton, South Carolina now still
with my parents and other three siblings. As a child, I was troubled. I grew up as a preacher s kid it
runs in the family. I hardly missed a Sunday of church but that still didn t stop me from acting up in
school. I knew better then to act the way I did but I always had to prove myself to somebody. I was
always named a bully because of my size even before somebody took the time to get to know me I
guess that s the life I chose. I live with both my mom and dad, plus my 3 siblings. I have 4 siblings

to act the way I did, most of the time it was for attention because I rarely got any at home. After I
got kicked out I went to whale branch middle and finished eighth grade there. At least I had good
grades, I made the honor roll every once and a while but my grades were always acceptable. I
was always athletic as a kid, I played basketball and soon to play tennis. I participated in chorus

my future I just want to be remembered for never giving up and making something out of
myself. I want to be a full time nurse and do cosmetology on the side for extra cash here and
there. I want to have a beautiful family of two kids and a husband. In my future I want my kids
to look at me and see a successful hard working women so they can follow in my footsteps of

in a good way (leave out some detail or, tell only part of it or find a way around it).
Success in circuit lies is the second line in this poem meaning lying a little could either be a

Too light for our infirm delight is the third line which means that the item isn t as good as you

Tda 3.2 1.1entitlement and Provision for Early Years...
As part of the Every Child Matters and Childcare Act 2006 all children aged three and four in
England are entitled to 15 hours per week of early years education for free. The local authority is
provided with government funds to enable that early years education is provided for children
for up to two years of free education over 38 weeks of the year, parents will also have the option
to pay for additional hours if and when they require them. Early years education is about
supporting very young children, children aged 3 5 years old. It is very different from Key Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that sets the standards that
all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept
healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and
gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills t hat provide the right foundation for
good future progress through school and life. The Early years foundation stage was introduced
in 2008 and sets out one standard framework for learning, development and care for all children
from birth to the foundation year. In Scotland there is the Curriculum for Excellence which aims
to achieve a transformation in education by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched
curriculum from 3 to 18. In Northern Ireland pupils in years 1 2 are in foundation stage and Key
stage 1 consists of years 3 and 4and Key stage 2 consists of 5 and 6. Early years learning usually
runs with adults working with children on focused activities that have specific concepts such as
play involving using numbers, starting letter formation and language activities. The classroom will
usually contain educational toys/play areas and children will be encouraged to work/play
independently and choose from a wide range of activities. Foundation stage classrooms/areas also

Islamic Teachings And Principles Of Isis
Humom Asamarai

Final Draft 3
Poindexter
Inevitable Blowback Many claim that ISIS has been created as a result of Islamic teachings and
principles. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce
of truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the
struggle for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence.
State sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely
contributing causes to the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic
events that took place on 9/11, Islamophobia was born. It has been over a decade and
Islamophobia is not only still existent, but it s unfortunately growing in the heart of the average
American more and more each day. For this we can thank our lovely media. Muslims are being
targeted at every corner. In this country, you are taught by society to fear Islam. You are led to think
that it is a violent cult that preaches hate and teaches violence. The sad part is, whether Islam does
any of this is still a question that is being debated. Only just recently, CNN attacked Reza Aslan
during a live interview for not condemning the religion of Islam and its teachings. When he replied
and defended Islam with supporting facts, they attacked him for being hostile. In this country, you
are taught that Muslims hate your great American freedom, even though Muslim and American

Kamehameha V
Thesis Paper Who would you pick for your top 5 ali i in Hawaiian History? Would Kamehameha
V be on there? I most certainly think Kamehameha should be on that list. He left schooling at the
age of 18 to work in the government office building and he was the last of the Kamehameha s to
rule. Kamehameha V was the second best ruler behind Kamehameha the great because he had to
overcome a lot, tried to follow exactly the way his grandfather ruled, and worked extremely hard
for things he thought were right for his people. When Prince Lot and Princess Pauhi were
children they were expected to marry each other. At the age of 16, Pauhi didn t want to get
married to Prince Lot because she was in love with Charles Reed Bishop. The two later on got

They went and met presidents and talked with other members of royalty, what it was like to run
a society, and to prepare them for their future roles as leaders. This is just one example of what
Kamehameha V did to show his people that he was willing to learn from other kings to see what
he should do for his people. Another thing that Lot did was raise the Sugar Industry. You might
think of that as bad but at the time people were getting destroyed by the incoming people so
Kamehameha V helped to bring up the sugar industry to help them bring in goods from other
parts of the world. But the biggest way he helped his people was by sending people with leprosy to
the island of Molokai. He saved a lot of Hawaiian lives by sending only the sick to Molokai. This
was extremely smart because Hawaiians were not adapted to the new diseases that the foreigners
brought. His one idea is still used today, people with leprosy go to Molokai to get treatment or to

Gender, Ritual And Reality By Marla N. Powers
We have always learned about the history and it always has to do with men. The role they had
and what they contribute to the society. However, this is not only a man s world but also a
woman s. Women s contributions are equally important for the development of the society.
Similarly, in the book assigned Oglala Women Myth, Ritual and Reality by Marla N. Powers,
demonstrates the life of women from a Lakota tribe and what their gender role contributes to the
tribe and to their families and religions. Furthermore, Power tries to educate her reader about the
gender and diversity of world s religion through her book. The most interesting chapter from
Powers book was the Old Age , chapter 6. In this chapter, she describes the roles of a
grandmother and of a medicine women and how they are important part of Lakota culture. I
would extend my knowledge on this chapter and focus on the particular roles Lakota s women
had to accomplish and what was expected of them. I consider grandmothers and medicine women
to be vital for the Lakota culture and their traditions. In how they are viewed and respected for
their wisdom and power. In addition, I would also focus on the online reading on the soul of the
Indian, including further research to state my point. Comparing the readings and how they are
related to the Oglala Women book. Including my critical response in how my own religion and
culture is similar to the Oglala culture. In the Lakota culture, respect toward the elders is an

The Benefits Of Irreversible Enzyme Inhibitors
Enzyme inhibitors are molecules that bind to enzymes to decrease their activity. Many drugs are
enzyme inhibitors because by blocking the enzymes activity it can kill pathogens (shpanskaya and
Melechko, 2008) Enzyme inhibitors assist in altering the catalytic action of an enzyme in order to
slow down or stop catalysis (Worthington biochemical corporation, 2015). Inhabitation can either be
reversible or irreversible. During irreversible inhabitation the inhibitor detaches slowly from its
targeted enzyme as it is tightly bound to the enzyme by covalent or noncovalent bonds. Important
drugs such as penicillin are irreversible inhibitors. The penicillin covalently modifies the enzyme
transpeptidase which prevents synthesis of bacterial cell walls consequently killing off the bacteria
(Biochemistry, 2002)
As opposed to irreversible inhibition, reversible inhibition is a rapid detachment of the enzyme
inhibitor because the inhibitors bind to the enzymes with non covalent bonds. Unlike irreversible
inhibitors, reversible inhibitors do not have chemical reaction and can be broken down easily by
methods such as dilution (shpanskaya ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the amount of energy needed to pump blood around the body and can cause high blood pressure.
This can be dangerous for the heart if it had been weakened by heart attack. By blocking the
production of Angiotensin II with ACE inhibitors this, in turn prevents constriction and lowers
blood pressure (American Heart Association, 2015). ACE inhibitors also help to stop angiotensin I
from converting into angiotensin II. By doing this there is a reduction in dilation of the blood
vessels. There is also a reduction of the amount of water returned to the blood by the kidneys which
ultimately leads to decreased blood pressure (Kenny,

Social analysis:
One other factor is social factor. It is about the people living there. What is the thinking of the
people? In Singapore there is diversification of people and diversified culture and religion which
makes it probably open minded country to new influences. So it will be easy for TESCO to invest
in this country for the expansion and growth of their business with proper planning and marketing.
If we consider the other factors about the living standards, Singapore has the population of
approximately 5 million. Salaries are high to meet the daily basis expenses. On the other hand
people are educated more than 80% adults are highly professional degree holders. So TESCO has
this advantage in hiring the people. The most the educated people in the company the more

Technological analysis:
According to an analysis, Singapore is the most successful in the race of innovation and

lawsuit would be one very critical and important thing to consider. This might lead to a lot of
disturbance and chaos in the organization which could probably also lead to the downfall of the
organization. Paul should personally talk to Dean and try to explain to him what happened and
how the process worked and try to calm him down or he should offer him a position in the
organization which could make Dean happy and would prevent him from filing a lawsuit. If this
is done, Dean would not take any drastic steps and it could also make him feel better because he
already feels bad about his disability. The best fit solution would be to come up with a mutual
understanding so that both Dean and the organization are happy and nobody is affected by the
decision. This matters a lot and will play an important role in this case

9. The idea that because something once strongly affected our life, it should indefinitely affect it

Analysis Of Hidden Figures By Margot Lee Shetterly
The novel Hidden Figures, written by Margot Lee Shetterly consists of a prologue, twenty three

Interracial Dating and Marriage
Interracial dating and marriage is a very touchy subject. Society today and in the past has always
discriminated against interracial intimate interaction; and this is not limited to the United States.
Today, interracial dating and marriageis beginning to be accepted simply because love triumphs all.
However, there are still a vast amount of people, communities, and ethnic groups that oppose
intimate interracial interaction. They believe that such intimate relationships between two different
races should never be developed or maintained. So the real question is, will love be enough to

Interracial dating and marriage is a highly controversial topic among the Indian community. In
the eyes of most Indians interracial mingling is not acceptable under any circumstances. To be
frank, they abhor the thought of their children or fellow Indians dating or even marrying people
from other races. Now the big question is why? Why do Indians detest interracial dating and
marriage? The answer to this question is not a simple one. For each person it may be a different
answer. But the most prominent answer you will receive is that there is a vast cultural difference
between races. Indians pride themselves with their culture; it s what makes each Indian who he
or she is. So if you try and break that culture you will face issues from all around. Most Indians
who marry people of other ethnicities face problems from not only other Indians within their
community, but also their own family members. Sadly sometimes the answer to the question, will
love be enough to break the barrier, is a no. You would think that even if society, your community,
and friends oppose you, your family would support you. Sadly that s not the case in most Indian
families. Instead of showing love, compassion, and understanding they are ridiculed and mocked;
and all for what? For loving someone outside their race? Some families go as far as to disown their
children, nieces/nephews, uncles/aunts, and

Abstract
Hamilton (Albert) Fish (1870 1936) was an American serial killer, child rapist, and cannibal. He
was known as the gray man, the werewolf of wisteria, the Brooklyn vampire, the moon maniac, and
the boogey man. Albert (born Hamilton) Fish came from a family seemingly stricken by mental
illness, with six close relative in mental hospitals. At the age nine his father died, and Fish was
sent to an orphanage. At that point Fish experienced bullying, and whippings from caretakers. It
wasn t until three years later that his mother took on a government job and was able to take him
back. He began a relationship with another boy, where he was introduced to urine drinking and
feces eating. In 1890 he moved to New York, where he became a prostitute and began raping young
boys. At some point he became interested in penises themselves and began sexual mutilations. In

relationship. Fish implied the man was mentally disabled. Ultimately, Kedden was taken by Fish
to an abandoned farmhouse, where Fish began a two week process of torturing him, eventually
cutting off half the man s penis and killing him. Afraid of somebody smelling it, if he took the

Has History Got It All Wrong?
One of the biggest things people look for in a story is an emotional connection that will draw them
in and can make them feel as though they are seeing things in a whole new light. Howard Zinn
undoubtedly attempts to force an emotional connection to his reader in the first chapter of his 1980
textbook A People s History of the United States . In this chapter, Zinn tells his reader about how
Europe was unremittingly asperous toward the rest of the world, particularly in the Americas in the
fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. While trying to make his point, though, Zinn uses a gratuitous
amount of emotion in his work and very little fact and logic. Zinn s work also features a large
amount of bias to further his argument by severely manipulating his evidence and completely ...

Complications of Diabetes Essay
Complications of Diabetes
Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of developing primarily vascular complications that
contribute to morbidity and mortality of diabetic patients. Poor glycaemic control leads to vascular
complications that affect large (macrovascular), small (microvascular) vessels or both.
Macrovascular complications include coronary heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and stroke.
Microvascular complications contribute to diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage), nephropathy
(kidney disease) and retinopathy (eye disease).

Moreover, CVD mortality risk in men with T2D is increased three times comparing with non
diabetic men (Church et al., 2009). Hypertension, dyslipidaemia, abdominal obesity and smoking
are other major risk factor for CVD.
Glucose fluctuations has been suggested as a main contributor to both micro and macrovascular
complications, therefore tight glycaemic control was fought to benefit in patients with type
diabetes mellitus. However, individual results from tree recent clinical trials the Action to
Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) trial, the Action in Diabetes and Vascular
Disease: Preterax and Diamicron Modified Release Controlled Evaluation (ADVANCE trial), and
the Veterans Affairs Diabetes Trial (VADT) failed to support a significant reduction in CVD
events in the intensive glycaemic groups (Buse et al., 2007; Patel et al., 2008; Duckworth et al.,
2009). In fact, in those studies intensive glucose control may increase risk in older patients with pre
existing CHD or longer duration of diabetes.
Furthermore, despite the UK Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS) did not show a significant
trend in the reduction of myocardial infarction (MI) rates, the 10 year follow up of this trial

Descriptive Essay On Room 208
Teana Trumpler
Comfort Provided by Room 208
I m sitting in a room belonging solely to myself. The walls are white as snow and the room is
filled with the elegant sound of absolutely nothing. The thermostat as low as it can go filling the
room with cool air. The floors as cold as frozen windows on a freezing winter day piercing my
body with desired chiles. In a room filled with my creative projects and spectacular assets I m
welcomed with authentic comfort and satisfaction. My boots in the middle of the floor and
uniforms draped across the door my camouflage reminds me that I m a part of society change. Its
4:00pm and my ears are warmed with loud sounds outside the door sign of relief, frustration, and
the erg of relaxation. Taken in by the smellof Hawaiian breeze air freshener giving my room a
fresh flower garden scent in the atmosphere. I lay down in my bed on a fluffy mattress that
comforts every bone and muscle in my body. Starring into the full body mirror that bring out my
true beauty effortlessly enhancing my unique body and face structure. Taking a deep breath and
unwinding from a long day s work this is what I have been anticipating all day long.
Dissatisfaction Felt in Room 208
Forced to stay in a place I feel I don t belong, greeted with a molded stuffy congested bathroom

Essay on Mitigating Disasters in Developing Countries
The focus of this essay however will be on developing countries and the alternatives available to
mitigate natural and man made disasters that are available to policymakers. Developing countries
are in general countries which have not achieved a significant degree of industrialization relative
to their populations, and which have, in most cases a medium to low standard of living. There is
a strong correlation between low income and high population growth In today s globalized nation,
countries are categorized either as a developed or developing nation. This form of categorization is
based on the country s social, political and economical status, that is, their earning powers, standard
of living and their type of governance. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most developing countries, especially the smaller states were once colonized by Western
industrial states and hence, have felt the impact of exploitation and deprivation from their strong
colonial powers; in fact, they are still governed with similar social, political, economical and
cultural traits which up to today have a major influence on their social well being. They rely
relentlessly on these developed nations, hence the tardiness in their developmental process. One
tend to get the feeling that there is some amount of inferiority among the citizens of developing
countries as they have inherited what is termed a dependency syndrome still lagging among them.
Because these developing countries are so poverty stricken, lack basic resources, proper
governmental structures, a non existence of rules and regulations and the lack of proper
enforcement of policies, they tend to be more vulnerable to disasters. Disaster in this sense is an
event, focused in time and space in which societies suffer extensive damages and injuries to
property, natural landscape, infrastructure and massive loss of lives termed as natural and man
made disasters (McDonald, 2003). As a resultant from these disasters, prospect for future
development are prevented and there is also

Post Impressionism and Art Essay
Post Impressionism and Art
Modernism is an art movement that is characterized by a deliberate departure from tradition to a
more expressive form that distinguishes many styles in the arts and literature of the late nineteenth
and twentieth century. Emile Bernard was part of this modern art movement as can be seen in his
painting, Breton Woman and Haystacks , painted around 1888. Impressionists were modern artists
who tended to paint outside landscapes and street scenes and were concerned with the effects of
light. Bernard was a Post Impressionist artist who considered Impressionism too casual or too
naturalistic, and sought a means of exploring emotion in paint. Bernard s work, Breton Woman and
Haystacks , depicts a woman in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also liked their version of Catholicism because they believed God was noticeable in everyday
life. This attraction to the Breton way of life is apparent by the way Bernard paints them. Both
the woman and the landscape are drawn simply; the figures do not look realistic but the viewer
is able to distinguish what each object is. The simple geometric form of the woman s hat and the
shape of the haystacks are very similar in contour, yet both are easily discernable. Likewise, the
trees and the clouds are alike in their shape, as well as the curves of the woman s eyes and mouth
are similar to the rolling hills behind her. The painting is considered to be abstract because the
imagery used in the work departs from representational accuracy. Abstract artists such as Bernard
select and then exaggerate or simplify the forms suggested by the world around them. Bernard s
rendering of the Breton woman in her simple attire juxtaposed with the countryside communicates
his belief that she is nearer to nature and God than contemporary peoples. The stylized delineation
of the figures and the vivid colors convey the emotion and imaginative sensibility of the Breton
women rather than simply recording what Bernard saw.
The dramatic color Bernard used in Breton Woman and Haystacks along with the large areas of
open space and bold lines that define structure, volume and texture are all characteristics of the

been limited to wealthy countries, and those who are against them. Even today, access to

largely a result following the Vaccination Act of 1853 and 1867 and the increase of causalities

Between 1840 1898 there were a variety of acts put in place in Great Britain. One of the
vaccination acts that anti vaccinators felt imposed on their rights was the Vaccination Act of 1853:
The Vaccination Act of 1853 made vaccination compulsory for all infants in the first three months
of life and made defaulting parents liable to a fine or imprisonment ( Anti vaccinations ). Later, in
1867, the Vaccination Act of 1867 extend the mandatory vaccination up to 14 years old. The
politicians extend the government power to impose on civil rights for public health.
At the end of the 19th century, anti vaccinators started to show up in the United States of America.
This was largely due to the smallpox outbreak. In 1902, Cambridge s board of health required that
all the citizens had to get the vaccination. After it was taken to the Supreme Court, they ruled in
favor of the states: State could enact compulsory laws to protect the public in the event of a
communicable disease ( History of Anti Vaccination ). This was the first Supreme Court case

The Growing Threat of Cyber Warfare from Russia The next generation of terrorists will grow

Dorothy E. Denning. This is becoming more and more apparent as time goes on. You hear
something new every day about some company being hacked by the Chinese, Russians, Iranians,

think that creating the most powerful hacking software is the best course of action, this will
only lead to more cyber terrorism at the expense of everyday citizens. Looking to the past, it is
obvious that engaging in an arms race can often lead to escalated conflicts. Some security
experts warn that governments do not yet understand the power of the hacking tools being
created, and that the situation is growing dangerously similar to the arms race induced powder
keg Europe was before World War I erupted (Matthews). Although they were physical, arms races
in the past led to such horrific conflicts such as the first World War and terrifying time periods
such as the Cold War. Governments should be approaching this situation with much more
caution. In order to ensure both the safety of the citizens of the world, as well as the well being
of the world s nations, the digital arms race should be de escalated. Measures need to be taken to
reduce the frequency of cyber attacks, as opposed to simply fighting back with more powerful
hacking tools.
Cybercrime and cyberterrorism are becoming increasingly more dangerous issues as time goes on.
China appears to wage hacking attacks on other countries, especially the United States, more often

OnDemand client programs operate on personal computers running on Windows. Using the client
program, users can construct queries and search for reports, retrieve documents from OnDemand,
view, print, and fax copies or pages of documents, and attach electronic notes to pages of a

documents and resource group files, and process query requests from OnDemand client programs.
The documents can reside on disk, optical, and tape storage volumes.

What Is A Synagogue
The biblical term for holiness is kodesb. The way to holiness, in other words, was for Israelites,
individually and collectively, to emulate God s attributes. The same interaction is evident in the
commandment to sanctify the Sabbath, with God and the Israelite people acting in tandem to
realize the holiness of this occasion. Godshows the way and Israel follows. Synagogue is a holy
place dedicated to the glory of God. If prayers are to ascend to heaven, the synagogue must reflect
sanctity and humility. God has chosen Israel, both land and people, to be witnesses and a testing
ground for God to reveal His holiness in the world and through them the ultimate purpose of
creation should be unveiled and clarified.

The Mexican American Border And Its Effects On The United...
I am writing this letter to respectively bring your attention to the Mexican American border, its
damaging effect on the United States economy, and potential solutions to this specific situation
which has become known as the Border Crisis. As you may already know, the border runs from
Tijuana, Baja California to Tamaulipas and Texas. According to the International Boundary and
Water Commission, the border s length is 1,954 miles and is the most frequently crossed
international border, mainly by undocumented immigrants from Mexicoand Central America. As an
attempt to contain this influx of illegal migration, former President George W. Bush signed the
Secure Fence Act of 2006 stating, This bill will help protect American people. This bill will make
our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform. While Mr. Bush may
have had the United Statessafety at heart, one must question if the border fence is actually helping
the economy or hurting it? There are several problems that have risen following the creation of the
border fence; immigrants coming from The Northern Triangle have actually increased, Texas has
become the deadliest entry state, undocumented and unaccompanied children are costing taxpayers
even more, and simply maintaining the border fence is a very high cost. To start with, when people
hear the word immigration , many automatically refer to Mexican immigrants. However, few tend

The Lady s Dressing Room
In Jonathan Swift s poem, The Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is mostly
endorsed. In Lady Mary Wortley Montagu s response poem to Swift, The Reasons that Induced
Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is
critiqued. The endorsement and critique is seen in the aesthetics of the poem (rhyme scheme,
alliteration, and diction), how knowledge is presented or acquired, and how knowledge is used.
Jonathan Swift s poem endorses knowledge through experience by taking Strephon into the female
space in order to discover and report his experience in the female dressing room to his audience.

However, the nursery rhyme feelings is still conveyed, which gives off an air of learning. Wortley
Montagu, in creating her pre history, creates a story that conveys the observation in an omniscient
narrator. Wortley Montagu describes the doctor in a way that she is looking in on the situation and
observing. As the poem continues, wit is clearly critiqued. Even though the doctor is learned, his
prestige or knowledge does not allow him to enter into the female space. For example, Wortley
Montagu writes that doctor had joked and punned, and swore and writ/ tried all his gallantry and

also critiques that the reason that knowledge is being acquired needs to be examined as well to

Corridors Of Migration Summary
Corridors of Migration, is about the odyssey of Mexican laborers during the period of 19600
1933. The book written by Rodolfo Acuna starts with the Spanish conquest of the America, portrays
the factors that influenced Mexicans to migrate to the United States as well as the factors that
pushed Mexicans out of the U.S. labor strikes and the corridors taken by Mexicans and their
families. The aspects that influenced people to move can be seen as push, pull, and nativism that
occurred due to the cause and effect of reactions of social and economic issues such as the Mexican
Revolution of 1910, World World I, and mines as well as commercial agriculture. Moreover, the
book illustrates strikes from the earliest in Arizona to the 1933 San Joaquin Valley Cotton Strike. In

director are to implement their authorities and complete their responsibilities and duties with
utmost attention and thoroughness [s 180]. (Legal service commission, 2015) The Corporations
Act 2001 encompasses four principal duties that are primary to directors, including care and
diligence, proper use of position, proper use of information and good faith (Australian Institute of
Company Directors, 2015). This section of paper will elaborate on the four principal duties
mentioned earlier along with statutory duties. Act Honestly The director should act in good faith
and for the welfare of the company in proper use. The duty requires more than just a normal sense
of honestly, it demands directors to implement independent judgment in light of relevant facts,
views, materials when assessing for the welfare of the company. It is of chief importance that a
breach of this duty involving fraud, recklessness and dishonestly could attract criminal penalties.
Care and diligence The act identifies that directors are to act with a notch of overhaul and
assiduousness that a sensible person might be expected to demonstrate in the role (s 180). Proper

The World Is Too Much With Us And To Wordsworth Comparison
Being perfect examples of Romantic poetry, both The World Is Too Much With Us by William
Wordsworth and To Wordsworth by Percy Bysshe Shelley convey a similar message of loss and
death. However, Wordsworth focuses on the loss of connection between human beings and nature.
Shelley, on the other hand, directs his poem to Wordsworth himself and focuses on the symbolic
deathof Wordsworth s poetic style. For instance, in The World Is Too Much With Us ,
Wordsworth personifies the sea and winds by saying that she (the sea) [used to bare] her bosom to
the moon and how the winds that [used to howl] at all hours implying that their (sea and winds)
actions were bold and daring. He then uses a simile to compare their old daring

The Veldt by Ray Bradbury
Were there lions in the room? Ray Bradbury was raised in a small town in Illinois. He gets the
setting for many of his stories from Green Town. When Bradbury was young, he spent time
listening to the radio and going to the library. He received inspiration from a magician, Mr.
Electrico. Bradbury wrote many science fictionbooks and short stories. Some of his most famous
works include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way, and more.
The Veldt is about a family who lives in a technological house. The parents, George and Lydia
Hadley, bought the house because they wanted the best for their children, Wendy and Peter. The
house does all of the normal activities people do for themselves, such as tying their shoes... Show

This shows the realistic part of the nursery. It was real for the reader as well as the characters in
the story. Imagery also shows the family situation at home. George and Lydia only want the best
for their children, however sometimes they give in too much. That sounds dreadful...And brush
my own teeth and comb my hair and give myself a bath? (Bradbury). Peter was afraid that he
would actually have to do work. This describes how spoiled they are at home. Moreover, his
description of the veldt also conveys an atmosphere of menace and hostility mirroring the
psychological state of the Hadley family (Bernardo). This shows how the family has trouble
getting along with each other because of the hostility caused by the veldt. Lastly, it portrays the
dreamlike quality of the house. They describe the room as being easy to dream. How often had
he seen Pegasus flying in the sky ceiling, or seen fountains of red fireworks, or heard angel
voices singing (Bradbury). This also shows that the children enjoy going into the nursery to
dream very often. Hence, the story has an air of unreality about it as if it were simply a child s
daydream of a world in which children have the power and competence given to adults and adults
have the helplessness of children (Bernardo). The nursery depicts a dreamlike quality and it gives
the children the freedom to live in a world they would imagine. Imagery helps move the plot further
along in the story. The

Eli Whitney s Invention Of Interchangeable Parts And Mass...
I shall not stay here... Up before day, at the clang of a bell and out the mill by the bell just as
though we were so many living machines (Hopkinson 37). Many girls, between the ages of fifteen
and thirty five, worked at textile mills during the Industrial Revolution for eleven to twelve hours a
day, with little time to catch their breath and fresh air. The Industrial Revolutionstarted in Europe in
the eighteenth century and spread to America during the nineteenth century. Eli Whitney s
invention of interchangeable parts and mass production helped lead the American Industrial
Revolution, which started after the War of 1812 and peaked during the 1870 s. During this time
period, many factories, mills, and factory cities were constructed, one of which was Lowell,
Massachusetts, and employed women because their salaries were lower and therefore cost less. The
conditions of the mills and boarding houses that the girls lived in were unpleasant and crowded, and
they could easily become ill. Eventually, after the height of the Industrial Revolution, women fought
for their rights and better conditions in their workplaces. The Industrial Revolution changed women
s roles in society, as it made jobs that were filled by girls, put them in challenging settings, and
united them to work for change in the workforce.
The Industrial Revolution was a time period in American history, starting from about the late 1700
s to the early 1800 s and peaked during the 1870 s. Samuel Slater came

Public Services Policy Analysis
Policy and its effect on Public services
Economists employed by the government are involved in implementing policies, which were
especially established to meet government s objectives that are very often multidimensional. There
are four very fundamental objectives for viable economy, including decreasing the unemployment
rates in certain regions, lower or stabilise the inflation , constant economic growth and a satisfactory
balance of payments position. The UK economy continues to suffer from a number of underlying
structural weaknesses. The government is now set on providing the economic framework, which
will enhance the opportunity to raise a sustainable rate of economy growth, (Anderton, 2006).

Government s objectives have transformed from from long standing ones and have focused on
inflation and stable macro stance through establishing supply side policies. Moreover, supply
side policy has a direct or indirect impact on many government s spheres. Cutting the marginal
rate of income was a major supply side objective during the Thatcher s governance. At the
beginning of Thatcher governance in 1979, the standard rate of income was 33 per cent and the
top rate was more than 80 per cent. By 1997 the standard income rate fell to 23 per cent and the
top rate was only 40 per cent, (Sloman, 2007). Such policy appears to be prosperous as the Blair
government continued with this policy. According to many economists, cuts in the marginal rate of
income tax have a positive effects, for example, people wish to work long hours, people work more
enthusiastically, employment rises and unemployment rapidly falls. Furthermore, the Thatcher s
government took a number of measures to reduce the power of labour in order to encourage
investments and hence economic growth, (Sloman, 2007). Conservative government believed that
the rise of economic growth can be achieved by helping to small businesses, which are very
fundamental as they create provide job

Plain and pleasure are a result of modern technology . Usage of cell phones as a boon or a bane ;
the answer lies in our hands! Why mobile phone is a Bane? The other day, my daddy was telling
me his childhood stories. He shared his evergreen memories of having a great time with his
relatives. In the olden days, people used to visit friends and relatives often. But look at about our
generation. How often we get to see our relatives? We just make a phone call to talk to them
instead of visiting. We call our grandparents through phones to check if they are doing okay. We
wish them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year by sending a text message. We are living in a
fast moving world where social life is centered around the mobile phones. Mobile phones are the
No:1 culprit in damaging our social life and family life. People have started Texting instead of
talking and visiting. What more, I have seen people talking through phone to the family
members in the next room instead of just getting up from the chair and walking over there.
Leave aside the social life. Think about the health problems because of excessive use of mobile
phones. It is a scientific fact that cell phones emit radio frequency energy, a form of radiation,
which can be absorbed by tissues in your body. The nervous system of children is still developing
and is more vulnerable to factors that may cause cancer. Considering the fact that over 7 billion

hard work, drive and passion, it s possible to achieve the American dream. His words practically
provide a definition for what most people expected an American life to be. You get a job, you

the narrator walks out, unable to think through [her] pain...then everything began to bleed in

her fellow factory workers are forced to perform in less than reasonable conditions for absurd
lengths of time, but as soon as she speaks up about the injustices in the factory, she finds herself
among the American unemployed for the second time. Her hope in the American people is lost, yet

The Cost of Childcare Essay
Childcare or daycare is one of the most commonly used resources among Americans in the United
States. There are many options for childcare that parents could choose from. They have many
choices for childcare, ranging from: in home care, childcare facilities, after school or government
funded Head Start programs. . Head Start is a federally funded governmental program with the
explicit goal of preparing underprivileged children for primary education (Conley). This program is
another option for the pre k program. The cost of childcarehas risen dramatically over the past year,
and no one really knows whom to blame for it. The government offers families subsidies for

Some families are not able to provide childcare when they need it for their kid(s). The cost and the
scarcity of day care have helped create what sociologist Joya Misra calls the motherhood penalty
(Quart). Some families have to have only one income so that one parent could stay home to watch
the kid(s). Single parents have to move in with their parents for help because they can not afford
the care. People should not have to quit their jobs to take care of their kids when there are multiple
daycare facilities.
In fact, recent studies have shown that the cost of daycare in some states has exceeded the
average tuition and fees of a public college. The cost per week per child is at its all time high for
childcare and that it is making it hard for parents. Paying $100 $350 a week for childcare sounds
outrageous. The cost of having an infant child in most states is higher than having a 6 year old.
Most childcare facilities charge families by the kids ages, the younger the child, the higher the
cost. Honestly, daycare facilities are making a killing because people are having babies that need
care, but they have to go back to work to support their family. Low income families have to
struggle day by day because childcare is so expensive. Childcare is expensive; however it s really
an investment, because you

The Importance Of Ethnic Minorities
Society consists of complex processes which affect different groups in different ways and some
groups, for various reasons, can experience high rates of disadvantage and oppression. Multiple
aspects of a person s identity can create significant bias, resulting in disproportionate treatment.
Young black males for example, especially those from lower socio economic backgrounds, suffer
discrimination considerably more on the basis of their different attributes; being young, male and
belonging to an ethnic minority groupwhilst a status of being from poorer backgrounds further
disadvantages their opportunities and their position in society (Solanke, 2009). Intersectional
frameworks play a key role by enabling a deeper insight into social institutions and practices
concerning ethnic minorities and social problems which arise through inequality. The way
institutions, such as the criminal justice system and the police, deal with ethnic minority groups
contributes to ongoing stigma and discrimination, especially that of young males as their actions
influence external perceptions of the general public towards ethnic minorities, thus allowing for
continued racial abuse and discrimination. This essay will focus on the disparities of young black
and minority ethnic (BME) males in the criminal justice system and identify intersectional
influences overrepresentation within the system in order to recognise the inequalities these people
face and promote social justice.

fasts were effective against the British because if Gandhi dies all of India would have revolted

of the Congress party named Jawaharlal Nehru. Gandhi then travelled across India teaching
passive resistance. In 1939, Gandhi returned to political life because of the federation of Indian

In many countries being gaudy is a sign of having wealth. It is a way of expressing that they have more money than everyone else. The stranger has bands of astrakhan on his sleeves. Astrakhan is fur from a young lambs coat. People with money tend to wear fur that no one else can afford. He was wearing a cloak with flame coloured silk. Silk is a precious material that only the rich could trade for. His brooch had a single flaming beryl. A beryl is a gem, and gems were used as jewelry. The beryl was most likely a rare gem because Watson described it as a flaming beryl. It was intensely passionate to the eye. The boots were trimmed with rich brown fur. Notice that he did not describe the fur as just fur. He stated that it was a rich brown fur. As stated before, most likely an animal s fur that is rare. • 3. Learning Through Play And Active Involvement Introduction The key messages highlighted in the Foundation Phase are emphasising learning through play, the role of the adult in relation to balancing adult led and child initiative activities, involving children in planning, developing children s observation, creative and expressive skills and more use of the outdoor environment for solving real life problems and experiential learning. All children have the right to receive a full education and schools must provide an inclusive curriculum that will offer opportunities for all children to achieve their full potential and receive the experiences they are entitled to (Framework, 2008). This supports a statement in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child all children and young people must be provided with an education that develops their personality and talents to the full (Framework, 2008). School is the time where children develop most of the skills they will use later in life and therefore it is crucial they benefit from these educational experiences. Emphasising Learning through Play and Active Involvement Play is an important part in a child s learning experience as children learn best from being actively involved and experimenting. The Foundation Phase wants practitioners to recognise that children learn through first hand experiential learning in an environment that is relevant to a child s interest. Hall, N. and Abbott, L. (1992) support this as they suggest not only is play beneficial but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

House In the Hills by Wiz Khalifa tells the story about the artist s life, and how people focus on some of his bad habits instead of focusing on all of the good he has done for himself, and all the beneficial things he has accomplished. People tend to look at the stereotypical black person and focus on all of the bad situations that they may have come from, instead of looking for the good in the person and looking at the paths that they have made for themselves. Islamic Teachings And Principles Of Isis Humom Asamarai Eng 1021.32 Final Draft 3 Poindexter Inevitable Blowback Many claim that ISIS has been created as a result of Islamic teachings and principles. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce of truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the struggle for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence. State sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely contributing causes to the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic events that took place on 9/11, Islamophobia was born. It has been over a decade and Islamophobia is not only still existent, but it s unfortunately growing in the heart of the average American more and more each day. You are led to think that it is a violent cult that preaches hate and teaches violence. The sad part is, whether Islam does any of this is still a question that is being debated. Kamehameha V was the second best ruler behind Kamehameha the great because he had to overcome a lot, tried to follow exactly the way his grandfather ruled, and worked extremely hard for things he thought were right for his people. When Prince Lot and Princess Pauhi were children they were expected to marry each other. At the age of 16, Pauhi didn t want to get married to Prince Lot because she was in love with Charles Reed Bishop. The two later on got married and Prince Lot never found love. Another thing that Lot did was raise the Sugar Industry. You might think of that as bad but at the time people were getting destroyed by the incoming people so Kamehameha V helped to bring up the sugar industry to help them bring in goods from other parts of the world. • 11. The Benefits Of Irreversible Enzyme Inhibitors Enzyme inhibitors are molecules that bind to enzymes to decrease their activity. Many drugs are enzyme inhibitors because by blocking the enzymes activity it can kill pathogens (shpanskaya and Melechko, 2008) Enzyme inhibitors assist in altering the catalytic action of an enzyme in order to slow down or stop catalysis (Worthington biochemical corporation, 2015). Inhabitation can either be reversible or irreversible. During irreversible inhabitation the inhibitor detaches slowly from its targeted enzyme as it is tightly bound to the enzyme by covalent or noncovalent bonds. Important drugs such as penicillin are irreversible inhibitors. The penicillin covalently modifies the enzyme transpeptidase which prevents synthesis of bacterial cell walls consequently killing off the bacteria (Biochemistry, 2002) As opposed to irreversible inhibition, reversible inhibition is a rapid detachment of the enzyme inhibitor because the inhibitors bind to the enzymes with non covalent bonds. Unlike irreversible inhibitors, reversible inhibitors do not have chemical reaction and can be broken down easily by methods such as dilution (shpanskaya ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Society today and in the past has always discriminated against interracial intimate interaction; and this is not limited to the United States. Today, interracial dating and marriageis beginning to be accepted simply because love triumphs all. However, there are still a vast amount of people, communities, and ethnic groups that oppose intimate interracial interaction. Why do Indians detest interracial dating and marriage? The answer to this question is not a simple one. For each person it may be a different answer. But the most prominent answer you will receive is that there is a vast cultural difference between races. Indians pride themselves with their culture; it s what makes each Indian who he or she is. So if you try and break that culture you will face issues from all around. Most Indians who marry people of other ethnicities face problems from not only other Indians within their community, but also their own family members. Sadly sometimes the answer to the question, will love be enough to break the barrier, is a no. You would think that even if society, your community, and friends oppose you, your family would support you. Sadly that s not the case in most Indian families. One of the biggest things people look for in a story is an emotional connection that will draw them in and can make them feel as though they are seeing things in a whole new light. Howard Zinn undoubtedly attempts to force an emotional connection to his reader in the first chapter of his 1980 textbook A People s History of the United States . In this chapter, Zinn tells his reader about how Europe was unremittingly asperous toward the rest of the world, particularly in the Americas in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Developing countries are in general countries which have not achieved a significant degree of industrialization relative to their populations, and which have, in most cases a medium to low standard of living. There is a strong correlation between low income and high population growth In today s globalized nation, countries are categorized either as a developed or developing nation. They rely relentlessly on these developed nations, hence the tardiness in their developmental process. Post Impressionism and Art Essay Post Impressionism and Art Modernism is an art movement that is characterized by a deliberate departure from tradition to a more expressive form that distinguishes many styles in the arts and literature of the late nineteenth and twentieth century. Emile Bernard was part of this modern art movement as can be seen in his painting, Breton Woman and Haystacks , painted around 1888. Impressionists were modern artists who tended to paint outside landscapes and street scenes and were concerned with the effects of light. Bernard was a Post Impressionist artist who considered Impressionism too casual or too naturalistic, and sought a means of exploring emotion in paint. He also liked their version of Catholicism because they believed God was noticeable in everyday life. This attraction to the Breton way of life is apparent by the way Bernard paints them. Both the woman and the landscape are drawn simply; the figures do not look realistic but the viewer is able to distinguish what each object is. The simple geometric form of the woman s hat and the shape of the haystacks are very similar in contour, yet both are easily discernable. Likewise, the trees and the clouds are alike in their shape, as well as the curves of the woman s eyes and mouth are similar to the rolling hills behind her. The painting is considered to be abstract because the imagery used in the work departs from representational accuracy. Abstract artists such as Bernard select and then exaggerate or simplify the forms suggested by the world around them. Bernard s rendering of the Breton woman in her simple attire juxtaposed with the countryside communicates his belief that she is nearer to nature and God than contemporary peoples. The stylized delineation of the figures and the vivid colors convey the emotion and imaginative sensibility of the Breton women rather than simply recording what Bernard saw. There are several problems that have risen following the creation of the border fence; immigrants coming from The Northern Triangle have actually increased, Texas has become the deadliest entry state, undocumented and unaccompanied children are costing taxpayers even more, and simply maintaining the border fence is a very high cost. The World Is Too Much With Us And To Wordsworth Comparison Being perfect examples of Romantic poetry, both The World Is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth and To Wordsworth by Percy Bysshe Shelley convey a similar message of loss and death. However, Wordsworth focuses on the loss of connection between human beings and nature. Shelley, on the other hand, directs his poem to Wordsworth himself and focuses on the symbolic deathof Wordsworth s poetic style. For instance, in The World Is Too Much With Us , Wordsworth personifies the sea and winds by saying that she (the sea) [used to bare] her bosom to the moon and how the winds that [used to howl] at all hours implying that their (sea and winds) actions were bold and daring. • 43. The Veldt by Ray Bradbury Were there lions in the room? Ray Bradbury was raised in a small town in Illinois. He gets the setting for many of his stories from Green Town. When Bradbury was young, he spent time listening to the radio and going to the library. He received inspiration from a magician, Mr. Electrico. Bradbury wrote many science fictionbooks and short stories. Some of his most famous works include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Something Wicked This Way, and more. Peter was afraid that he would actually have to do work. This describes how spoiled they are at home. Moreover, his description of the veldt also conveys an atmosphere of menace and hostility mirroring the psychological state of the Hadley family (Bernardo). This shows how the family has trouble getting along with each other because of the hostility caused by the veldt. Lastly, it portrays the dreamlike quality of the house. They describe the room as being easy to dream. How often had he seen Pegasus flying in the sky ceiling, or seen fountains of red fireworks, or heard angel voices singing (Bradbury). This also shows that the children enjoy going into the nursery to dream very often. Hence, the story has an air of unreality about it as if it were simply a child s daydream of a world in which children have the power and competence given to adults and adults have the helplessness of children (Bernardo). The nursery depicts a dreamlike quality and it gives the children the freedom to live in a world they would imagine. Imagery helps move the plot further along in the story. The ... • 44. Eli Whitney s Invention Of Interchangeable Parts And Mass... I shall not stay here... Up before day, at the clang of a bell and out the mill by the bell just as though we were so many living machines (Hopkinson 37). Many girls, between the ages of fifteen and thirty five, worked at textile mills during the Industrial Revolution for eleven to twelve hours a day, with little time to catch their breath and fresh air. The Industrial Revolutionstarted in Europe in the eighteenth century and spread to America during the nineteenth century. Eli Whitney s invention of interchangeable parts and mass production helped lead the American Industrial Revolution, which started after the War of 1812 and peaked during the 1870 s. During this time period, many factories, mills, and factory cities were constructed, one of which was Lowell, Massachusetts, and employed women because their salaries were lower and therefore cost less. The conditions of the mills and boarding houses that the girls lived in were unpleasant and crowded, and they could easily become ill. Eventually, after the height of the Industrial Revolution, women fought for their rights and better conditions in their workplaces. The Industrial Revolution changed women s roles in society, as it made jobs that were filled by girls, put them in challenging settings, and united them to work for change in the workforce. The Industrial Revolution was a time period in American history, starting from about the late 1700 s to the early 1800 s and peaked during the 1870 s. Samuel Slater came ... At the beginning of Thatcher governance in 1979, the standard rate of income was 33 per cent and the top rate was more than 80 per cent. By 1997 the standard income rate fell to 23 per cent and the top rate was only 40 per cent, (Sloman, 2007). Such policy appears to be prosperous as the Blair government continued with this policy. According to many economists, cuts in the marginal rate of income tax have a positive effects, for example, people wish to work long hours, people work more enthusiastically, employment rises and unemployment rapidly falls. The cost and the scarcity of day care have helped create what sociologist Joya Misra calls the motherhood penalty (Quart). Some families have to have only one income so that one parent could stay home to watch the kid(s). Single parents have to move in with their parents for help because they can not afford the care. People should not have to quit their jobs to take care of their kids when there are multiple daycare facilities. In fact, recent studies have shown that the cost of daycare in some states has exceeded the average tuition and fees of a public college. The cost per week per child is at its all time high for childcare and that it is making it hard for parents. Paying $100 $350 a week for childcare sounds outrageous. The cost of having an infant child in most states is higher than having a 6 year old. Most childcare facilities charge families by the kids ages, the younger the child, the higher the cost. • 49. The Importance Of Ethnic Minorities Society consists of complex processes which affect different groups in different ways and some groups, for various reasons, can experience high rates of disadvantage and oppression. Multiple aspects of a person s identity can create significant bias, resulting in disproportionate treatment. Young black males for example, especially those from lower socio economic backgrounds, suffer discrimination considerably more on the basis of their different attributes; being young, male and belonging to an ethnic minority groupwhilst a status of being from poorer backgrounds further disadvantages their opportunities and their position in society (Solanke, 2009). Intersectional frameworks play a key role by enabling a deeper insight into social institutions and practices concerning ethnic minorities and social problems which arise through inequality. The way institutions, such as the criminal justice system and the police, deal with ethnic minority groups contributes to ongoing stigma and discrimination, especially that of young males as their actions influence external perceptions of the general public towards ethnic minorities, thus allowing for continued racial abuse and discrimination. This essay will focus on the disparities of young black and minority ethnic (BME) males in the criminal justice system and identify intersectional influences overrepresentation within the system in order to recognise the inequalities these people face and promote social justice.
