2. PEDAGOGY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE
INTRODUCTION:-
The main purpose of teaching physical science in secondary school is
to enable students to grasp systematically the basic knowledge of
physical science needed for the further study of modern science and
technology.
The Study of Physical Science helps:-
1. Acquire experimental skill.
2. Develop ability to think.
3. Promoting Scientific Ethics.
4. Connecting Science to Everyday Life.
5. Developing Scientific Inquiry Skills.
6. Promoting Critical Thinking
3. PEDAGOGY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:-
1. Developing Scientific Inquiry Skills:-
• Encourage curiosity and the ability to ask questions.
• Foster the development of skills such as observation, measurement, data
collection, and experimentation.
• Teach students to formulate hypotheses and design experiments to test
them.
2. Promoting Critical Thinking:-
• Enhance analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Teach students to evaluate evidence and draw logical conclusions.
• Encourage skepticism and the ability to question and challenge ideas.
4. PEDAGOGY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:-
3. Cultivating Scientific Literacy:-
• Provide students with a foundational understanding of key scientific
concepts and principles.
• Foster an appreciation for the role of science in explaining natural
phenomena and solving real-world problems.
4. Encouraging Teamwork and Collaboration:-
• Foster an environment where students can work collaboratively on
scientific projects and experiments.
• Emphasize the importance of communication and teamwork in the
scientific process.
5. PEDAGOGY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:-
5. Developing Problem-Solving Skills:-
• Teach students to identify problems, formulate hypotheses, and design
experiments to test their hypotheses.
• Encourage creativity in finding innovative solutions to scientific
challenges.
6. Connecting Science to Everyday Life:-
• Illustrate the relevance of scientific concepts to everyday life.
• Help students understand how scientific knowledge can be applied to
address societal issues and improve the quality of life.
6. PEDAGOGY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:-
Specific objectives are related to the topic.
For Example:-
Topic:- Solar System
1. Students will be able to understand the concept of planets.
2. Students will be able to understand the concept of Terrestrial planets and
Jovian planets.
3. Students will be able to understand about the Blue planet “EARTH”
4. Students will be able to understand about the concept of Asteroids,
Meteoroids and comets.
5. Students will be able to understand the concept of galaxies.
6. Students will be able to understand the concept of Our Milky Way Galaxy.
