Eric Cantor Case Study
June, 2014 House Majority leader Eric Cantor would lose his bid for re election to a relatively
underwhelming opponent Dave Brat a Tea Party backed economics professor. This primary upset
(Martin, June 2014) is considered one of the biggest upsets in political history. Cantor who had raised
roughly 5.4 million dollars in campaign funds found himself down by eleven percent to Brat who had
only been able to raise roughly two hundred thousand for his own campaign. While Cantor
continuously criticized Brat for being soft on immigration and contending that he supported what
critics call amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally found little support from the constituents of
his district. While on the other Hand Brat found his message resonating ... Show more content on

In an article published by The Economist David Brat was characterized as knowing how to work a
crowd. (The Economist, 2014) This would help him against Cantor due to Cantor ignoring his own
district. Russell Berman, reporter with The Hill cites one reason for Cantors loss One thing that s been
lacking throughout Cantor s career is loyalty among his constituents (Caldwell, Diamond, 2014) Brat
ran on an anti establishment platform criticizing Eric Cantor for his position on illegal immigration,
government bailouts and budget deals while commonly referring to God and the U.S. Constitution in
his speeches. This is one of the many reason that Brat succeeds over Cantor he knew his constituents,
and their back ground seeing that the 7th district of Virginia was conservative district, by invoking
God s name and the constitution gave both Brat and his prospective voter common ground. During the
campaign, Cantor criticized Brat as a liberal professor who had strong ties to Tim Kaine, Virginia s
former Democratic governor and current junior Senator. (Berman, R,

The Celebration Of Carnival In Twelfth Night And Paradise...
Carnival in history is a grand celebration that most normal people today in Louisiana would have
called Mardi Gras. The grand festival of Carnival is famously known for critiquing numerous social,
gender, political, and religious norms during the Renaissance. William Shakespeare s play about cross
dressing Twelfth Night and John Milton s religious fictional Paradise Lost utilize the festivities and
the enjoyment of traditional festivities carnival ideas like Viola s and Satan s disguises; role reversals
of Olivia, Satan, and Eve; excess food eaten by Sir Toby and Eve; madness in terms of Twelfth Night s
craziness and Satan s wrath; and violence in terms of physical and psychological.
Twelfth Night s name itself is a clear reference to the famous Christian celebration of the Epiphany,
which closely represents the twelfth night of Christmas and the beginning of the celebration of
Carnival which often has partaken in wearing disguises and societal role reversals. The religious
celebration of the Epiphany is also the point in historical religious history where the three wise men or
magi respectfully brought the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the recently born Jesus
Christ of Nazareth. In terms of disguise, Viola skillfully and dutifully disguises herself as Cesario in
order to safely find her long lost brother Sebastian who she sadly and quickly presumes is dead. Since
Twelfth Night is a play, the actors put on their disguise, and traditionally the role of

Esfp Personality Analysis
Do you know Serena Williams is? A famous tennis player, black hair, brown eyes we might not look
alike, but we share the same personality. Even if we don t share the same characteristics, but we both
share ESFP ppersonality the entertainer According to Carl Jung s personality test. The first
characteristic I agree with is easily bored Risky behavior , self indulgence, and the pleasures of the
moment over long term plans are all things ESFPs get into a little too often. I would say this fits me
because i really don t think what i do before i do it, such as when im outside and I m riding my bike
and on my phone at the same time and the next minute you fall off your bike and hurt something I don
t think what is going to happen when i do it.One other reason I agree with this is that when someone
tells me not to doit,it makes me want to do it more. So easily bored is something I strongly agree with.
The characteristic I also agree that I m bold . ESFPs aren t known for holding back. Wanting to
experience everything there is to experience, people with the ESFP personality type don t mind

and not focus on my problem.
People all over the world might share the same personality type.my personaliity type is mostly me of

Themes InThe Swimmer, By John Cheever
In John Cheever s short story, The Swimmer, we are introduced to Neddy Merrill a man who, at first
glance, seemed to be an ordinary affluent suburban man enjoying some drinks by the pool with his
neighbors. After lounging around with his neighbor, Neddy decided he s going to go home by
swimming through his neighbor s pools. Through his swimming journey, Neddy slowly begins to
acknowledge what has happened in his life. It wasn t until the moment that Neddy finally reaches his
home that everything that has happened to him fully sinks in. At the end of The Swimmer, Neddy s
vulnerability and lonesomeness are exposed. As Cheever wrote He shouted, pounded on the door, tried
to force it with his shoulder, and then, looking in at the windows, saw that the place was empty
(Cheever 737). In this sentence, we see the climax and conclusion of Neddy s journey, and the dawn
of a new awareness. Before we reach the climax though, Cheever uses close proximity rhyming in the
beginning of the sentence when he writes, He shouted, pounded on the door (Cheever 737). This
literary device provides the reader with a glimpse into the powerful emotion surging through Neddy as
he realizes that the home he thought he had no longer exists. As we see Neddy becoming increasingly
frustrated, Cheever begins to transition this sentence to the climax of the story with Neddy feeling
desperate and nervous. Neddy reaches his breaking point as he discovers what s in the house as

My Experience At The Usa
My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing, arriving, and
adopting. Moving to America was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences I have ever had in
my life. It all started after I graduated from high school. I had always dreamed of going to abroad to
study in a better school to be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he
was going to send me America for school, but I was sure that it wasn t going to happen because
getting a student visa was tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that letter in my mail
from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was speechless. In order to come to
America for school, I either had to have a student visa or a permanent residency, for which someone
had to sponsor me. I was actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for School. But one day I
saw a mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to come to the
USA, and they asked me along with my family for an interview. It was so unexpected that I didn t
know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he told me all about how he was processing the
whole time while I was busy taking my finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a
chance to study abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview
with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole new level. The interview was in the

Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry
Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting and
comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire his unique
style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his own life... An
interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the Abbey theatre in
Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he captures a calm atmosphere in
his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style which draws me in as a reader. Yeats
also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and conveys his thoughts and emotions when
he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or assonance. The poems that I have studied are The
Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at Coole , An Irish Airman Foresees His Death , September
1913 and Sailing to Byzantium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses repetition which creates emphasis on what he is trying to convey. This is evident when he
opens with the line I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree . Yeats flaunts his poetic skills once
more through a rhyming pattern at the end of every second line. made...glade , slow...glow etc. Also, I
feel that Yeats depicts the core theme of the poem through vibrant imagery. The Lake Isle of Innisfree
is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he remarkably conveys this
through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture for me. This is evident when he
states There midnight s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow and I hear lake water lapping with low
sounds by the shore . Therefore, I firmly believe that Yeats unique yet simple style lucidly conveys the
main theme of this poem

Scientific Management Was the Product of 19th Century...
1st Formal, Assessed, Essay Topic:
Scientific Management was the product of 19th Century industrial practices and has no relevance to
the present day. Discuss.
In the past the man has been first; in the future the system must be first said Frederick Winslow
Taylor, creator of a new management theory: Scientific management or Taylorism. It emerged in the
end of the 19th century in the industrial context and was experimented and then applied in plants.
This organisation of the workflow is based on some principles.
First, the use of science to evaluate each task in order to establish scientific laws about how to do each
particular part of the work. The managers, using time and motion studies and precise measurements of

The use of robotic and new techniques leads to a refinement of scientific management where the
human factor is not denied anymore but instrumentalized to achieve economic objectives. The
evolution of the society, social relationships, improvement in education... has influenced
organizational structures and management principles. For example, the balance of power between
managers and workers has changed. In the 19th century, the power was essentially in the employer
side whereas today, particularly with the emergence of unions, it is quite balanced. The rise in
workforce s education and standard of living has resulted in much more demanding employees (C.
Grönroos, 1994). Historical scientific management is therefore not appropriate anymore, either for its
aims or for its principles.
However, taylorism is still the origin of everything, it is firstly continued by Fordism with the
assembly line and real mass production, going to an upper level of work organization and a new salary
policy (5$ a day=double salary) allowing workers to consume and thus stimulating mass consumption.
We can talk about fordist compromise based on the distribution of the value added advantageous for
employees. It implies a win win situation between employees and employer. Ford has improved social
part of scientific management, encouraging workers to work more. Fordism is also associated with
standardization, producing the same

Business Development in a Global Market Essay
Business Development in a Global Market Developing a business opportunity or introducing a new
product into the global market place is a risky business at the best of times. Strong and precise
business strategies along with extensive market research are the keys for developing a successful
global enterprise. This essay will cover the core fundamentals required to best enter the global market
while minimizing the risks. Core fundamentals include, indentifying potential markets, product
competition, risks involved, future growth potential, entry strategy and costs involved to enter the
market place. When identifying potential markets we must consider the benefit, risks and costs

This is a risk that can be understood and managed with proper thought and investment. Political risks
are the complications businesses and governments may face as a result of political decisions or any
political change that changes the expected outcome and value of a given economic action by changing
the probability of achieving business objectives. Political risk faced by firms can be defined as the risk
of a strategic, financial, or personnel loss for a firm because of such nonmarket factors as
macroeconomic and social policies (fiscal, monetary, trade, investment, industrial, income, labour, and
developmental), or events related to political instability (terrorism, riots, coups, civil war, and
insurrection). For a business, the implication for political risk is that there is a measure of likelihood
that political events may complicate its pursuit of earnings through direct impacts (such as taxes or
fees) or indirect impacts (such as opportunity cost forgone). As a result, political risk is similar to an
expected value such that the likelihood of a political event occurring may reduce the desirability of
that investment by reducing its anticipated returns. There are both macro and micro level political
risks. Macro level political risk looks at non project specific risks. Types of risk include government
currency actions, regulatory changes, sovereign credit defaults, corruption, war declarations and

Example #2 I began working part time on a regular basis at the age of 13. After high school, I talked
my way into a job as a runner at the Chicago Board of Trade. A runner is the person who runs all the
buy and sell orders to the brokers in the pits. I have been successful in blue collar jobs, such as roofing
and painting, as well as white collar jobs, such as being an account executive for a national mortgage
lender. At the age of 21, I decided to attend college and later graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of

am married with two children. In this scenario, once again I selected the wrong person. I selected the

experience than the two males that were pictured. In my opinion, both males appeared to be too young
to have so much work experience; especially having worked as an account executive for a national

Comparing Virgin And Child On The Crescent Moon
Unlike other forms of art, such as paintings or drawings, sculptures provide audiences with a way of
looking at a piece of art in a three dimensional form; they have depth. A viewer can walk all around a
sculpture and notice every detail of it from every side (239). Sculptures can be vastly varied, however,
as there are four sculpting methods and because artists have different visions and identities, and come
from different backgrounds, all of which manifest themselves in an artist s piece (241). Let s look at
the ways in which Jeff Koons s Michael Jackson and Bubbles is different and similar to Tilman
Riemenschneider s Virgin and Child on the Crescent Moon. The differences are obvious. First, both
artists used different methods and materials

Criticism Of Diego Velàzquez s Las Meninas, Sebastiàn de...
Diego Velàzquez was called the noblest and most commanding man among the artists of his country.
He was a master realist, and no painter has surpassed him in the ability to seize essential features and
fix them on canvas with a few broad, sure strokes. His men and women seem to breathe, it has been
said; his horses are full of action and his dogs of life. Because of Velàzquez great skill in merging
color, light, space, rhythm of line, and mass in such a way that all have equal value, he was known as
the painter s painter, as demonstrated in the paintings Las Meninas, Sebastiàn de Morra, and Baltasar
Carlos and a Dwarf.
Las Meninas is a pictorial summary and a commentary on the essential mystery of ... Show more

The interlocking of these luminous areas is the more vivid as the middle distance is cut off by the
shadows which spread across the floor. The depth of the chamber is stressed by the alternation of
window jambs and picture frames on the right hand wall, the stretcher of the large canvas on the left
foreground, and the perspective sequence of the empty lamp hooks on the ceiling, which mark as
central the spot in the rear wall where the King and the Queen are seen reflected in the mirror. In no
other painting has Velàzquez rendered space in so architectural a manner as in this, the only work in
which he has depicted a ceiling. Neither is there any other composition of his that is so vividly keyed
to the space lying out of the picture frame.
Recent studies of Las Meninas, inspired by the ideas of Michel Foucault, have paid considerable
attention to the seemingly novel relationship between the scene on the canvas and the spectator. These
ideas tacitly assume that the picture was meant to be seen by the public at large, as if it were hanging
in an important museum, as it is today. (They also exaggerate the novelty of the way in which the
spectator is involved in the picture.) However, the original placement indicates that this is not the case.
In 1666, the year after the death of Philip IV, Las Meninas was

Disruption Presents As A Dramatic Stage Play
DISRUPTION presents as a dramatic stage play that is driven by strong themes about control, power,
healing, trauma, life choices, responsibility, and inner demons.
There s one location setting and a contained cast of four, appropriate for a stage play. The structure is
divided into two acts. The play immediately jumps into the storyline. The actionable goal for Will is
clear. However, the story is driven more by the emotional inner conflict or demon of each character.
As mentioned, the story covers several relevant topics. The tone is consistently dramatic, with some
hints of humor.
While there s a lot to like about the play, the play would benefit from more development, especially in
the first act or first half.
The first half of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, most of the play can include the three of them. Finding a way to get them stuck inside can help
elevate the tension because they can t leave.
Consider tightening and narrowing down some of the dialogue and topics. Focus on the ones that
generate the most conflict. The story gets so much more exciting when Ed begins to accuse Will of
using them and raping Pam.
The ending with the murder is tragic and a bit distressing. It may not be an ending that feels satisfying.
In fact, the ending feels a bit abrupt. One doesn t have a strong emotional response with the current
conclusion of Will s death and Pamela s phone call.
An alternative is to have Will decide to try and kill himself (like his father). He has been in denial of
his father s suicide and it seems that it would be poetic justice if he decided to take his own life. In
addition, perhaps Ed encourages this (which would create tension), but Pamela tries to talk him out of
killing himself. It s still going to be challenging to have him die, so reconsider this.
The characters are complex and each one is struggling with their own demons. They are the type of
complex characters that can attract talent.
Will is will crafted as an egotistical businessman. His voice reflects his values and his personality. He
seeks power and control. He s corrupt and immoral. He has strong inner conflict about his father. He
uses people, although he might not have insight that he uses them. He really seems to believe

Alienation By Henrik Ibsen And Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe...
Alienation, through my personal views, is inevitable in the modern day. Our society has become so
adapt to depending on the individual to conform to the demanding expectations of our society. What
constitutes a life of alienation in my opinion is the inability to find meaning in the world and to
become a cog in the machine of our society, conforming to what is expected from us based off of
societal norms. This idea can best be highlighted through Henrik Ibsen s Hedda Gabler and Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust, which is illustrated through the main character s alienation based on
their inability to find meaning in their lives.
Alienation in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler is based particularly on personal alienation highlighted through
the main character Hedda. Hedda is the perfect representation of an alienated individual asserted
against a conventional society. Ibsen focuses particularly on the ownership of Hedda Gabler, from the
ownership of her father into the hands of George Tesman, to see Hedda to never be in complete
ownership of herself until she takes the matters into her own hands and claims her own life by
committing suicide at the end of the play. She is lost in a world where she no longer has anyone,
beside herself and her pistols, which she continually shoots off as these pistols can be seen to
dramatize Hedda s disconnect from the world and the frustrations she feels towards it. Arguably she
has nothing to look forward too, besides the continual hounding from George

Triangle Fire Research Paper

March 25, 1911. At 4:25, which was 5 minutes before closing time at the Triangle Shirt Factory. The
Triangle factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, was located on the top three floors of the
Asch Building, floors 8, 9, and 10. Some cutters were smoking, even though it was prohibited.

This incident has had great significance to this day because it highlights the inhumane working
conditions. The Triangle Fire tragically illustrated that fire inspections and precautions were woefully
inadequate at the time. Outraged cries calling for action to improve the unsafe conditions in
workshops could be heard from every quarter, from the mainstream conservative to the progressive
and union press. The role that strong unions could have in helping prevent such tragedies became
clear. Workers organized in powerful unions would be more conscious of their rights and better able to
obtain safe working conditions. Immediately after the fire, Triangle owners Blanck and Harris
declared in interviews that their building was fireproof, and that it had just been approved by the
Department of Buildings, but the building lacked the third required staircase. On December 27, twenty
three days after the trial had started, a jury acquitted Blanck and Harris of any wrongdoing. Brought to
court, he was fined twenty dollars, and the judge apologized to him for the imposition. Twenty three

Essay On Arginine Vasopressin
Like oxytocin, arginine vasopressin (AVP) plays a critical role in bond formation. Moreover, the
administration of AVP has been linked to an increase empathic concern after viewing distressing and
uplifting material (Tabak et al., 2014). Interestingly, Tabak and colleagues (2014) did not find
oxytocin to have a similar effect. However, given previous research, it is likely due to the
methodology and does not mean that oxytocin is not related to prosocial behavior but perhaps a
particular behavior measured by the study. After all, there is a lot to be learned about what influences
the effect of neurobiochemicals like vasopressin and oxytocin on prosocial behavior. It is possible that

Testable Hypothesis Neuroeconomic studies have found that economic decision making activates
involuntary brain structures. When presented with pictures of gazing eyes as opposed to nonwatching
eyes or flowers, participants were more likely to engage in prosocial behavior (Manesi et al., 2016).
This effect was modest, however. Perhaps, it was modest due to the task being completely
computerized, and hence, the effect could be larger if the task was performed differently. This
involuntary neural activation is postulated to be caused by seeing human eyes and faces (Burnham,
2007). By showing people images of gazing eyes, we can hypothetically manipulate the proximate
causes of prosocial behavior, or as Burnham would say, engineer human cooperation. While Manesi
and colleagues found that images of gazing human eyes elicited prosocial behavior, the researchers
did not utilize an fMRI to see which brain areas were involved. This study aims to examine which
brain areas are involved in prosocial behavior that is activated by seeing pictures of human eyes and
faces. Given that empathy is a known predecessor for engagement in prosocial behavior, it is possible
that viewing human faces and eyes will activate the same brain areas as

George S. Patton s Accomplishments
George S. Patton
George S. Patton was one of the most highly regarded and successful military leaders in the history of
the United States. His military career spanned from the expedition into Mexico throughout WWII. His
ability to inspire his troops with his profane filled speeches and his position of always leading from
the front gained him vast popularity and fame. Many political leaders considered him too controversial
and intemperate at times. This reputation often overshadowed his determination and success as a
commander. His bravery and many contributions to several of America s war efforts has established
him as one of the greats in American military history.
At a young age George S. Patton knew he wanted to be in the military. His ancestors had served in the
American Revolution, the Mexican War, and the Civil War. (Randall and Nahr iii) This is largely the
reason behind his intense determination and drive. Fueled off their tales of bravery and heroic
endeavors, he never had a doubt that he was going to live the life of a military hero. Despite a learning
disability, many believe he had dyslexia, he would go onto to attend the Virginia Military Institute and
ultimately graduate from West Point. Upon his graduation he achieved the rank of 2nd lieutenant and
was stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. The years after his graduation were eventful for George
Patton. He participated in the 1912 Olympics in a variety of sports. He trained in fencing in France

Based upon Magna s performance over the past 2 3 years, Magna has remained faithful and consistent
with what the company seeks to achieve under the principles as stated in the Corporate Constitution
and the Employee Charter.
Having implemented controls to reinforce the targets including minimum profit performance and
employee hotlines for filing complaints, Magna does show a compelling commitment to stand up for
the philosophy as to what Frank Stronach has quoted: Magna International is a Fair Enterprise
Company.
This may provide a good indication that the promises Magna have sought out to abide in make it a fair
enterprise. What limits this philosophy is the forces in the outside world that is beyond the company s

The journey of the hero, I find the most interesting in the books that we have read in class. In
Gilgamesh the journey of the hero is the most interesting one that I have read so far. The reasons that I
find Gilgamesh the most interesting is that it was one of the oldest stories in history. Also it seems that
many stories after Gilgamesh have similarities in other books. For example, the great flood it has been
seen in many stories like the bible. Another example is the hero themselves, in the story the hero has
the chance to become immortal, but they turn it down, or like in Gilgamesh a snake took his

In April 1859 the poem Goblin Market was produced and later published in 1862. After publication,
many argued between weather or not the poem was meant to be a children s poem, but author
Christina Rossetti later makes a statement that is clear in that her poem was not, in fact, meant for
children as it contains explicit imagery. In her poem,

High Tech Inc. is an electronics firm. When the state of the economy is above average or at its boom,
consumers purchase more products of High Tech Inc. than they would if the state of the economy gets
worse. Under this circumstance, we would expect High Tech s stock price to be high if the economy is
well. Thus, High Tech s returns are positively correlated with the economy because the firm s sales,
and hence profits will experience the same ups and downs with the economy. The opposite holds true
with Collections Inc. because the nature of the business is on collections of past due debts. If the
economy is in recession, people are not expected to pay their debts on time. Consequently, this firm
will be collecting a lot of past due debts, thus making its stock price to increase. The opposite will
happen if the economy is performing well. This explains why Collection s expected return moves
counter the economy. Collections Inc. is considered by many investors to be a hedge against bad times
and high inflation, so if the stock market crashes, investors in this stock should do relatively well.
Therefore, this stock is negatively correlated with the economy. b. Calculate the expected rate of

Flag Burning Essays
Flag Burning
Flag Burning can be and usually is a very controversial issue. Many people are offended by the
thought of destroying this country s symbol of liberty and freedom. During a political protest during
the 1984 Republican Convention, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for burning an American flag.
Years later in 1989, Johnson got the decision overturned by the United States Supreme Court. In the
same year, the state of Texas passed the Flag Protection Act, which prohibited any form of desecration
against the American flag. This act provoked many people to protest and burn flags anyway. Two
protestors, Shawn Eichman and Mark Haggerty were charged with violating the law and arrested.
Both Eichman and Haggerty appealed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the Republican National Convention was taking place in Dallas in 1984, respondent Johnson
participated in a political protest. The purpose of this event was to protest the policies of the Reagan
administration and of certain Dallas based corporations. The demonstrators marched through the
Dallas streets, chanting political slogans and stopping at several corporate locations to dramatize the
consequences of nuclear war. On several occasions they spray painted the walls of buildings and
overturned potted plants, but Johnson himself took no part in such activities. He did, however, accept
an American flag handed to him by a fellow protestor. The demonstration ended in front of Dallas City
Hall, where Johnson unfolded the American flag, drenched it with kerosene, and set it on fire. While
the flag burned, the protestors chanted. No one was physically injured or threatened with injury,
though several witnesses had said that they had been seriously offended by the flag burning.
Of all of the demonstrators, Johnson was the only person charged with a crime. The only criminal
offense with which he was charged was the desecration of a venerated object. After a trial, he was
convicted, sentenced to one year in prison, and fined $2,000. The Court of Appeals for the Fifth
District of Texas at Dallas affirmed Johnson s conviction, but the Texas Court of

The Cultural Dimensions Of National Culture
CULTURE
A set of basic assumptions shared solutions to universal problems of external adaptation (how to
survive) and internal integration (how to stay together) which have evolved over time and are handed
down from one generation to the next. (Schein, 1985). Culture is divided in into 2 categories one is
National Culture and second is Organisational Culture. NATIONAL CULTURE National Culture is
regarded as the pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting (Hofstede, 1991, p.4), which every person has
acquired in childhood and carries along throughout life (Hofstede, 1991). National culture is
something a group of people or society or a city or a country follows. Its customs traditions. As Quin
Marrow s company is based in Los Angeles and was going to have a joint venture with a Peruvian
company. These both have very different national culture. Hofstede in his study identified six major
cultural dimensions.
Power distance index
Individualism
Uncertainty avoidance
Masculinity
Long term orientation
Indulgence

Hofstede s Power distance Index measures the extent to which the less powerful members of
organisations accept and expect that power is distributed unequally. Australia has a 36 on the cultural
scale of Hofstede s analysis and Peru has 64. Australia has almost equal distribution among rich and
poor as compared to Peru.

losing him is catastrophic:
On the first day of preschool, Liz dug her fingers into the leg of her father s jeans and held on tight as
the overly sunny teacher tried to drag her into the overly sunny classroom. Her dad leaned down and
told her to make a wish. Tearfully, Liz asked her daddy to stay with her. He promised to never leave.
On the first day of school after her father s funeral, Monica [Liz s mother] dropped Liz off for the first
time. Monica didn t try to hug her, and Liz didn t ask her to stay. (Zhang 73)
As a preschool child, Liz s best friend is her father. He takes her out on little expeditions when they
have days off, and allows her to be herself when her mother is out on business trips. She loves him,
but he dies just as she begins aging into the state where she craves independence. His death forces her
into a deeper isolation and with an absent mother, she feels more alone than ever. This contributes to
her decision to crash her car and she specifically chooses the same day that her father died on. Liz

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
Have you ever been to a mental institution? The novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is about
Randall McMurphy becoming a patient in a mental institution. McMurphy is a white trash degenerate
with many problems, but mental instability is not one of them. He is an alcoholic with a gambling
problem that gets into fights. He was recently convicted of alleged rape. McMurphy, somehow,
conned his way into being enrolled into the mental institution instead of going to a work farm for his
actions, the court ruled that I m a psychopath... they tell me a psychopath s a guy fights too much and
fucks too much (13). In the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, Randall McMurphy s character
and the acute community change as they both interact with each other. The mental institute s patients
are divided into two group, acutes and chronics. The chronics are described as people that have no
chance of recovery from their state of mind, and will be in the institution forever. Chronics are in for
good, the staff concedes. Chronics are divided into Walkers, Wheelers, and Vegetables (16). The
acutes are described as people that have a chance of being cured and released from the institute. These
patients are somewhat functional people with slight mental instabilities, the doctors still figure them
sick enough to be fixed (15). This community includes Dale Harding, Billy Bibbit, Charles Cheswick,

The energy balances are to be verified over the condenser and evaporator. The efficiency of the
compressor is to be determined. Lastly, an energy balance of the compressor is to be performed.
Apparatus:
Figure 1 depicts the cycle used in this experiment and its individual control volumes. The system uses
water and refrigerant 134 a as the working fluids. The cycle operates between two different pressures,
the high pressure of the condenser and the low pressure of the evaporator. The condenser is used to
remove sufficient energy from the refrigerant to transform it completely into liquid. The evaporator is
used to vaporize the refrigerant by adding energy supplied by the warm water. The throttling valve
serves the purpose of reducing the pressure of the refrigerant resulting in isenthalpic expansion. The
compressor supplies energy to the refrigerant, and under ideal conditions works in a quasistatic
adiabatic manner.
Figure 1: Schematic of Heat Pump Cycle
Figure 2 depicts the Hylton Air and Water Heat Pump Systems used for this experiment. Viewing
Figure 2, the incoming cold water splits into two separate lines. One line heads towards the evaporator
and the other line heads towards the condenser. The flow rate of each line is measured as seen right
after t5 for the condenser and t8 for the evaporator. The water line heading to the condenser is first

The Method Observed Was The Direct Method
Maggie Berti LLL 690 Direct Method analysis
Summary
The method observed was the Direct Method. The teacher spoke Catalan (the target language) from
the very first moment she arrived in class greeting the students with the words bona tarda . First, she
started the lesson by writing on the blackboard parts del dia , el matí , la tarda and la nit . In order to
explain the meaning of such words she showed the gesture of waking up and then she turned on and
off the light of the room twice. The teacher continued to explain the meaning of the words with
drawings on the blackboard: a sun next to the word sol , a star next to the word estrella , a moon next
to the word lluna and a cloud next to the word núvols . Second, she opened a book and read the first
two lines. To explain the meaning of what was just read she moved around the classroom and
illustrated verbs trough actions. For example, to explain the word perdre (to lose) she acted as she was
looking for something around the room. Next she asked the students, again in the target language, to
read aloud a couple of sentences one by one. After each student read the teacher used gestures and
pictures to explain what was written in the text. In order to explain the word país she made an example
in Catalan using students personal factors: Italia es un país . While reading the book she showed
images that represented what was happening in the story; each line had a different image that helped

The Effects Of High-Profile Vehicles
Consumer sentiment for high profile vehicles continues. A quick scan of the automotive landscape,
especially in the United States, reveals that consumers are snapping up SUVs and pickup trucks to the
detriment of coupes, sedans, and wagons. Some brands, such as Buick, are selling as many as three
SUVs to one car, underscoring the wholesale shift away from traditional transportation choices. Some
analysts see a permanent shift away from cars to high profile vehicles and are essentially calling the
segment dead. Indeed, just this past week we ve heard rumors that GM may cancel two large sedans
the Chevrolet Impala and Cadillac XTS, with even a few smaller models such as the Chevrolet Sonic
possibly on the chopping block. Also, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes sense because the 2019 Avalon is based on the same platform underpinning the Toyota
Camry and also shares its wheelbase with the Lexus ES Series. Avalon sales may be falling, but
Toyota is poised to fill the void left with its own model. Livery owners everywhere rejoice! 3.
Shrinking, but not dying. Not all car segments are going away. One reason large sedan sales are falling
is because midsize sedans are taking up the slack. Today s midsize models are nearly as large as the
big sedans sold 15 years ago. They re also better made, well equipped, and affordable. Doubtlessly,
the D segment pie will continue to shrink, but there is opportunity for those who are patient. Indeed,
both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are all new for 2018, while a refreshed Hyundai Sonata
rolls out. Sales of such remaining models as the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu, and
Kia Optima remain strong. It is doubtful the Subaru Legacy will go away, although models such as the
Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat may not receive an update anytime soon. 4. Gas prices are a driving
factor. Low fuel prices have people running away from fuel efficient models. That said, today s utility
vehicles are more efficient than ever. Still, if gas prices begin to rise, consumers may suddenly shift
demand to vehicles currently in low demand. No utility vehicle delivers anywhere near the

Summary Of The Canterbury Tales And The Reeve s Tale
The Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale, two of the many stories in Geoffrey Chaucer s The
Canterbury Tales, portray many similarities on the views of love, marriage, and immorality. Both The
Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale portray what love truly means to the Miller and the Reeve. Chaucer
s two tales also exemplify the unfaithfulness of the wives to their vows of marriage. Additionally, the
stories share corresponding similarities in the many instances of dishonesty and immoral features of
the male characters. Throughout The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer illustrates to the reader the true
characteristics of the Miller and the Reeve by using the aspect of morality to show their related views
on love and women.
Love, to both the Miller and the Reeve, is frequently associated with beauty, lust, and sexual
intercourse. Their vision of love is consistent in both stories; indicating that they care mostly about the
women s physical appearances. This can be easily seen in the stories by the way that the women are
described and portrayed. Neither of Chaucer s story tellers offer much insight into the women s
intelligence or mental characteristics. In The Miller s Tale, the Miller writes, Fair was this yonge wyf,
and therwithal as any wesele hir body gent and small (line 3233), and likewise in The Reeve s Tale
when the Reeve notes, With buttokes brode and brestes rounde and hye (line 3975). The
understandings of love to both the Miller and the Reeve resemble each other in how it is just
something that is pleasing to the eyes and the body. Both of the wives in The Miller s Tale and The
Reeve s Tale are quick to commit unholy sex acts with men who are not their husbands. For example,
in The Miller s Tale, upon John, the carpenter, falling asleep, Nicholas and Alison decide to betray the
reeve and have sexual relations with one another. And thus lyth Alison and Nicholas in bisinesse of
mirthe and of solas (line 3653). Similarly, in The Reeve s Tale, the miller s wife becomes guilty of
fornication once the miller has fallen asleep. Withinne a whyl this John the clerk up leep, and on this

Ho Chi Minh used the analogy of the elephant and the tiger frequently during his presidency. Minh
applied this theory to the war between the Vietnamese and French, claiming that the French were the

fight for nationalism and self determination, regardless of the duration of the war or the amount of
troops and resources lost, the Vietnamese would come out as victors. Ho Chi Minh said at a speech in
Paris in 1946 you can kill 10 of our men for every one we kill of yours, but even at those odds, you

The sea is known for its violent storms because of the difference in temperatures. Hills and mountains
that reach nearly 2,000 feet high on the east side bound the sea. Another contributing factor to the
storms is that the Sea of Galilee is only about 200 feet at its deepest, which causes the wind to create
violent waves. The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus performed many of His miracles. Four of apostles
Peter, Andrew, James, and John came to Jesus after he stilled a ragging storm; this is also, where Jesus
and Peter walked on water. The Sea of Galilee also is the backdrop for feeding 5,000 people with only
a loaf of bread and two fish. This is also, where Mary of Magdala was from. The Sea of Galilee is
present throughout the Bible it is referenced in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Number, Deuteronomy,
Joshua, and 1 Kings.

The Decision Making Is Defined As A Cognitive Process
Forum 2: Original post Decision Making In life individuals are faced with a continuous flow of
decisions to be made and problems to be solved. Decision making is defined as a cognitive process in
which a choice is developed regarding a belief or course of action from among two or more
alternatives (Robbins Judge, 2009). Individuals compose decisions as a reaction to a problem, a
perceived deviation linking the present condition and a desired condition (Robbins, 2009). For
example, in the radiation oncology field, multiple devices are used to make treatments more accurate,
reproducible, and elevate patient comfort. These devices are used frequently so they quickly become
worn. They must be checked periodically to ensure structural stability and compliance with infectious
control regulations. Employees are given the task of examining the devices, making decisions
regarding the condition of the devices, and reporting what needs to be replaced. Managers and
employees must keep in mind that incessant replacement of these devices is costly and can cause
interruptions in patient care. Managers and employees should compose optimal decisions regarding
the care and replacement of such devices in order to be effective, efficient, and productive. Rational
Decision Making Model One process discussed in organizational behavior for decision making is the
Rational Decision Making Model. This model employs six steps for decision making: 1. Interpret the
problem. 2. Determine the decision

  • 2. Eric Cantor Case Study June, 2014 House Majority leader Eric Cantor would lose his bid for re election to a relatively underwhelming opponent Dave Brat a Tea Party backed economics professor. This primary upset (Martin, June 2014) is considered one of the biggest upsets in political history. Cantor who had raised roughly 5.4 million dollars in campaign funds found himself down by eleven percent to Brat who had only been able to raise roughly two hundred thousand for his own campaign. While Cantor continuously criticized Brat for being soft on immigration and contending that he supported what critics call amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally found little support from the constituents of his district. While on the other Hand Brat found his message resonating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an article published by The Economist David Brat was characterized as knowing how to work a crowd. (The Economist, 2014) This would help him against Cantor due to Cantor ignoring his own district. Russell Berman, reporter with The Hill cites one reason for Cantors loss One thing that s been lacking throughout Cantor s career is loyalty among his constituents (Caldwell, Diamond, 2014) Brat ran on an anti establishment platform criticizing Eric Cantor for his position on illegal immigration, government bailouts and budget deals while commonly referring to God and the U.S. Constitution in his speeches. This is one of the many reason that Brat succeeds over Cantor he knew his constituents, and their back ground seeing that the 7th district of Virginia was conservative district, by invoking God s name and the constitution gave both Brat and his prospective voter common ground. During the campaign, Cantor criticized Brat as a liberal professor who had strong ties to Tim Kaine, Virginia s former Democratic governor and current junior Senator. (Berman, R, ... • 3. The Celebration Of Carnival In Twelfth Night And Paradise... Carnival in history is a grand celebration that most normal people today in Louisiana would have called Mardi Gras. The grand festival of Carnival is famously known for critiquing numerous social, gender, political, and religious norms during the Renaissance. William Shakespeare s play about cross dressing Twelfth Night and John Milton s religious fictional Paradise Lost utilize the festivities and the enjoyment of traditional festivities carnival ideas like Viola s and Satan s disguises; role reversals of Olivia, Satan, and Eve; excess food eaten by Sir Toby and Eve; madness in terms of Twelfth Night s craziness and Satan s wrath; and violence in terms of physical and psychological. Twelfth Night s name itself is a clear reference to the famous Christian celebration of the Epiphany, which closely represents the twelfth night of Christmas and the beginning of the celebration of Carnival which often has partaken in wearing disguises and societal role reversals. The religious celebration of the Epiphany is also the point in historical religious history where the three wise men or magi respectfully brought the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the recently born Jesus Christ of Nazareth. In terms of disguise, Viola skillfully and dutifully disguises herself as Cesario in order to safely find her long lost brother Sebastian who she sadly and quickly presumes is dead. Since Twelfth Night is a play, the actors put on their disguise, and traditionally the role of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even if we don t share the same characteristics, but we both share ESFP ppersonality the entertainer According to Carl Jung s personality test. The first characteristic I agree with is easily bored Risky behavior , self indulgence, and the pleasures of the moment over long term plans are all things ESFPs get into a little too often. I would say this fits me because i really don t think what i do before i do it, such as when im outside and I m riding my bike and on my phone at the same time and the next minute you fall off your bike and hurt something I don t think what is going to happen when i do it.One other reason I agree with this is that when someone tells me not to doit,it makes me want to do it more. So easily bored is something I strongly agree with. The characteristic I also agree that I m bold . ESFPs aren t known for holding back. Wanting to experience everything there is to experience, people with the ESFP personality type don t mind stepping out of their comfort zones when no one else is willing. I agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With all this focus on the here and now, on doing and acting, it makes sense that ESFPs are naturals when it comes to noticing . I disagree with this because i do not notice thing really easy . For example when I m in math class and we are working on a problem and someone is talking and i look at them and not focus on my problem. People all over the world might share the same personality type.my personaliity type is mostly me of being easily bored, or bold, or even risky behavior. however, there are a couple of characteristic i disagree with; like Observant, when it comes to noticing things easy and I don´t. So if everyone took this test around the world they would find out their personality that fits the,or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Themes InThe Swimmer, By John Cheever In John Cheever s short story, The Swimmer, we are introduced to Neddy Merrill a man who, at first glance, seemed to be an ordinary affluent suburban man enjoying some drinks by the pool with his neighbors. After lounging around with his neighbor, Neddy decided he s going to go home by swimming through his neighbor s pools. Through his swimming journey, Neddy slowly begins to acknowledge what has happened in his life. It wasn t until the moment that Neddy finally reaches his home that everything that has happened to him fully sinks in. At the end of The Swimmer, Neddy s vulnerability and lonesomeness are exposed. As Cheever wrote He shouted, pounded on the door, tried to force it with his shoulder, and then, looking in at the windows, saw that the place was empty (Cheever 737). In this sentence, we see the climax and conclusion of Neddy s journey, and the dawn of a new awareness. Before we reach the climax though, Cheever uses close proximity rhyming in the beginning of the sentence when he writes, He shouted, pounded on the door (Cheever 737). This literary device provides the reader with a glimpse into the powerful emotion surging through Neddy as he realizes that the home he thought he had no longer exists. As we see Neddy becoming increasingly frustrated, Cheever begins to transition this sentence to the climax of the story with Neddy feeling desperate and nervous. Neddy reaches his breaking point as he discovers what s in the house as Cheever wrote and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Experience At The Usa My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing, arriving, and adopting. Moving to America was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences I have ever had in my life. It all started after I graduated from high school. I had always dreamed of going to abroad to study in a better school to be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he was going to send me America for school, but I was sure that it wasn t going to happen because getting a student visa was tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that letter in my mail from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was speechless. In order to come to America for school, I either had to have a student visa or a permanent residency, for which someone had to sponsor me. I was actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for School. But one day I saw a mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to come to the USA, and they asked me along with my family for an interview. It was so unexpected that I didn t know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he told me all about how he was processing the whole time while I was busy taking my finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a chance to study abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole new level. The interview was in the capital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting and comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire his unique style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his own life... An interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the Abbey theatre in Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he captures a calm atmosphere in his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style which draws me in as a reader. Yeats also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and conveys his thoughts and emotions when he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or assonance. The poems that I have studied are The Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at Coole , An Irish Airman Foresees His Death , September 1913 and Sailing to Byzantium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He uses repetition which creates emphasis on what he is trying to convey. This is evident when he opens with the line I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree . Yeats flaunts his poetic skills once more through a rhyming pattern at the end of every second line. made...glade , slow...glow etc. Also, I feel that Yeats depicts the core theme of the poem through vibrant imagery. The Lake Isle of Innisfree is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he remarkably conveys this through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture for me. This is evident when he states There midnight s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow and I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore . Therefore, I firmly believe that Yeats unique yet simple style lucidly conveys the main theme of this poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scientific Management Was the Product of 19th Century... 1st Formal, Assessed, Essay Topic: Scientific Management was the product of 19th Century industrial practices and has no relevance to the present day. Discuss. In the past the man has been first; in the future the system must be first said Frederick Winslow Taylor, creator of a new management theory: Scientific management or Taylorism. It emerged in the end of the 19th century in the industrial context and was experimented and then applied in plants. This organisation of the workflow is based on some principles. First, the use of science to evaluate each task in order to establish scientific laws about how to do each particular part of the work. The managers, using time and motion studies and precise measurements of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of robotic and new techniques leads to a refinement of scientific management where the human factor is not denied anymore but instrumentalized to achieve economic objectives. The evolution of the society, social relationships, improvement in education... has influenced organizational structures and management principles. For example, the balance of power between managers and workers has changed. In the 19th century, the power was essentially in the employer side whereas today, particularly with the emergence of unions, it is quite balanced. The rise in workforce s education and standard of living has resulted in much more demanding employees (C. Grönroos, 1994). Historical scientific management is therefore not appropriate anymore, either for its aims or for its principles. However, taylorism is still the origin of everything, it is firstly continued by Fordism with the assembly line and real mass production, going to an upper level of work organization and a new salary policy (5$ a day=double salary) allowing workers to consume and thus stimulating mass consumption. We can talk about fordist compromise based on the distribution of the value added advantageous for employees. It implies a win win situation between employees and employer. Ford has improved social part of scientific management, encouraging workers to work more. Fordism is also associated with standardization, producing the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strong and precise business strategies along with extensive market research are the keys for developing a successful global enterprise. This essay will cover the core fundamentals required to best enter the global market while minimizing the risks. This is a risk that can be understood and managed with proper thought and investment. Political risks are the complications businesses and governments may face as a result of political decisions or any political change that changes the expected outcome and value of a given economic action by changing the probability of achieving business objectives. Political risk faced by firms can be defined as the risk of a strategic, financial, or personnel loss for a firm because of such nonmarket factors as macroeconomic and social policies (fiscal, monetary, trade, investment, industrial, income, labour, and developmental), or events related to political instability (terrorism, riots, coups, civil war, and insurrection). For a business, the implication for political risk is that there is a measure of likelihood that political events may complicate its pursuit of earnings through direct impacts (such as taxes or fees) or indirect impacts (such as opportunity cost forgone). As a result, political risk is similar to an expected value such that the likelihood of a political event occurring may reduce the desirability of that investment by reducing its anticipated returns. There are both macro and micro level political risks. Macro level political risk looks at non project specific risks. Types of risk include government currency actions, regulatory changes, sovereign credit defaults, corruption, war declarations and government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Example #2 I began working part time on a regular basis at the age of 13. After high school, I talked my way into a job as a runner at the Chicago Board of Trade. A runner is the person who runs all the buy and sell orders to the brokers in the pits. I have been successful in blue collar jobs, such as roofing and painting, as well as white collar jobs, such as being an account executive for a national mortgage lender. At the age of 21, I decided to attend college and later graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications management. I am currently working on a master s degree and am married with two children. In this scenario, once again I selected the wrong person. • 11. Comparing Virgin And Child On The Crescent Moon Unlike other forms of art, such as paintings or drawings, sculptures provide audiences with a way of looking at a piece of art in a three dimensional form; they have depth. A viewer can walk all around a sculpture and notice every detail of it from every side (239). Sculptures can be vastly varied, however, as there are four sculpting methods and because artists have different visions and identities, and come from different backgrounds, all of which manifest themselves in an artist s piece (241). Let s look at the ways in which Jeff Koons s Michael Jackson and Bubbles is different and similar to Tilman Riemenschneider s Virgin and Child on the Crescent Moon. The differences are obvious. • 12. Criticism Of Diego Velàzquez s Las Meninas, Sebastiàn de... Diego Velàzquez was called the noblest and most commanding man among the artists of his country. He was a master realist, and no painter has surpassed him in the ability to seize essential features and fix them on canvas with a few broad, sure strokes. His men and women seem to breathe, it has been said; his horses are full of action and his dogs of life. Because of Velàzquez great skill in merging color, light, space, rhythm of line, and mass in such a way that all have equal value, he was known as the painter s painter, as demonstrated in the paintings Las Meninas, Sebastiàn de Morra, and Baltasar Carlos and a Dwarf. The interlocking of these luminous areas is the more vivid as the middle distance is cut off by the shadows which spread across the floor. The depth of the chamber is stressed by the alternation of window jambs and picture frames on the right hand wall, the stretcher of the large canvas on the left foreground, and the perspective sequence of the empty lamp hooks on the ceiling, which mark as central the spot in the rear wall where the King and the Queen are seen reflected in the mirror. In no other painting has Velàzquez rendered space in so architectural a manner as in this, the only work in which he has depicted a ceiling. Neither is there any other composition of his that is so vividly keyed to the space lying out of the picture frame. Recent studies of Las Meninas, inspired by the ideas of Michel Foucault, have paid considerable attention to the seemingly novel relationship between the scene on the canvas and the spectator. These ideas tacitly assume that the picture was meant to be seen by the public at large, as if it were hanging in an important museum, as it is today. (They also exaggerate the novelty of the way in which the spectator is involved in the picture.) However, the original placement indicates that this is not the case. Disruption Presents As A Dramatic Stage Play DISRUPTION presents as a dramatic stage play that is driven by strong themes about control, power, healing, trauma, life choices, responsibility, and inner demons. There s one location setting and a contained cast of four, appropriate for a stage play. The structure is divided into two acts. The play immediately jumps into the storyline. The actionable goal for Will is clear. However, the story is driven more by the emotional inner conflict or demon of each character. As mentioned, the story covers several relevant topics. Finding a way to get them stuck inside can help elevate the tension because they can t leave. Consider tightening and narrowing down some of the dialogue and topics. Focus on the ones that generate the most conflict. The story gets so much more exciting when Ed begins to accuse Will of using them and raping Pam. The ending with the murder is tragic and a bit distressing. It may not be an ending that feels satisfying. In fact, the ending feels a bit abrupt. One doesn t have a strong emotional response with the current conclusion of Will s death and Pamela s phone call. An alternative is to have Will decide to try and kill himself (like his father). He has been in denial of his father s suicide and it seems that it would be poetic justice if he decided to take his own life. In addition, perhaps Ed encourages this (which would create tension), but Pamela tries to talk him out of killing himself. It s still going to be challenging to have him die, so reconsider this. The characters are complex and each one is struggling with their own demons. They are the type of complex characters that can attract talent. Will is will crafted as an egotistical businessman. • 14. Alienation By Henrik Ibsen And Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe... Alienation, through my personal views, is inevitable in the modern day. Our society has become so adapt to depending on the individual to conform to the demanding expectations of our society. What constitutes a life of alienation in my opinion is the inability to find meaning in the world and to become a cog in the machine of our society, conforming to what is expected from us based off of societal norms. This idea can best be highlighted through Henrik Ibsen s Hedda Gabler and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust, which is illustrated through the main character s alienation based on their inability to find meaning in their lives. Alienation in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler is based particularly on personal alienation highlighted through the main character Hedda. Hedda is the perfect representation of an alienated individual asserted against a conventional society. Ibsen focuses particularly on the ownership of Hedda Gabler, from the ownership of her father into the hands of George Tesman, to see Hedda to never be in complete ownership of herself until she takes the matters into her own hands and claims her own life by committing suicide at the end of the play. She is lost in a world where she no longer has anyone, beside herself and her pistols, which she continually shoots off as these pistols can be seen to dramatize Hedda s disconnect from the world and the frustrations she feels towards it. Arguably she has nothing to look forward too, besides the continual hounding from George ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Triangle factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, was located on the top three floors of the Asch Building, floors 8, 9, and 10. Some cutters were smoking, even though it was prohibited. The role that strong unions could have in helping prevent such tragedies became clear. Workers organized in powerful unions would be more conscious of their rights and better able to obtain safe working conditions. Immediately after the fire, Triangle owners Blanck and Harris declared in interviews that their building was fireproof, and that it had just been approved by the Department of Buildings, but the building lacked the third required staircase. Moreover, the administration of AVP has been linked to an increase empathic concern after viewing distressing and uplifting material (Tabak et al., 2014). Interestingly, Tabak and colleagues (2014) did not find oxytocin to have a similar effect. However, given previous research, it is likely due to the methodology and does not mean that oxytocin is not related to prosocial behavior but perhaps a particular behavior measured by the study. Testable Hypothesis Neuroeconomic studies have found that economic decision making activates involuntary brain structures. When presented with pictures of gazing eyes as opposed to nonwatching eyes or flowers, participants were more likely to engage in prosocial behavior (Manesi et al., 2016). This effect was modest, however. Perhaps, it was modest due to the task being completely computerized, and hence, the effect could be larger if the task was performed differently. This involuntary neural activation is postulated to be caused by seeing human eyes and faces (Burnham, 2007). By showing people images of gazing eyes, we can hypothetically manipulate the proximate causes of prosocial behavior, or as Burnham would say, engineer human cooperation. While Manesi and colleagues found that images of gazing human eyes elicited prosocial behavior, the researchers did not utilize an fMRI to see which brain areas were involved. This study aims to examine which brain areas are involved in prosocial behavior that is activated by seeing pictures of human eyes and faces. His military career spanned from the expedition into Mexico throughout WWII. His ability to inspire his troops with his profane filled speeches and his position of always leading from the front gained him vast popularity and fame. Many political leaders considered him too controversial and intemperate at times. This reputation often overshadowed his determination and success as a commander. His bravery and many contributions to several of America s war efforts has established him as one of the greats in American military history. At a young age George S. Patton knew he wanted to be in the military. His ancestors had served in the American Revolution, the Mexican War, and the Civil War. Fueled off their tales of bravery and heroic endeavors, he never had a doubt that he was going to live the life of a military hero. Avalon sales may be falling, but Toyota is poised to fill the void left with its own model. Livery owners everywhere rejoice! 3. Shrinking, but not dying. Not all car segments are going away. One reason large sedan sales are falling is because midsize sedans are taking up the slack. Today s midsize models are nearly as large as the big sedans sold 15 years ago. They re also better made, well equipped, and affordable. Doubtlessly, the D segment pie will continue to shrink, but there is opportunity for those who are patient. Indeed, both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are all new for 2018, while a refreshed Hyundai Sonata rolls out. Sales of such remaining models as the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu, and Kia Optima remain strong. It is doubtful the Subaru Legacy will go away, although models such as the Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat may not receive an update anytime soon. 4. Gas prices are a driving factor. Edna cannot live the life she wishes to with the positions and statuses she must fill in her society. Peggy Skaggs believes that it is impossible for Edna to be a complete person with her role of being a wife and mother as defined by her society. Allowing herself the choice, Edna decides to be the artist whose courageous soul ... dares and defies (Chopin 156). Without a thought in mind, she chooses her final path to be the courageous one that matches up with her desires and quests towards freedom. Because Edna does not care about the societal rules, she stops worrying about her own impression management. Kate Chopin demonstrates Edna as being willing to give her life for her children but unwilling to give herself up for them (64). In other words, Edna would give everything for her children, except for the vital aspects of herself. This would be her freedom and individuality. • 34. Summary Of The Canterbury Tales And The Reeve s Tale The Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale, two of the many stories in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, portray many similarities on the views of love, marriage, and immorality. Both The Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale portray what love truly means to the Miller and the Reeve. Chaucer s two tales also exemplify the unfaithfulness of the wives to their vows of marriage. Additionally, the stories share corresponding similarities in the many instances of dishonesty and immoral features of the male characters. Throughout The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer illustrates to the reader the true characteristics of the Miller and the Reeve by using the aspect of morality to show their related views on love and women. Love, to both the Miller and the Reeve, is frequently associated with beauty, lust, and sexual intercourse. Their vision of love is consistent in both stories; indicating that they care mostly about the women s physical appearances. This can be easily seen in the stories by the way that the women are described and portrayed. Neither of Chaucer s story tellers offer much insight into the women s intelligence or mental characteristics. In The Miller s Tale, the Miller writes, Fair was this yonge wyf, and therwithal as any wesele hir body gent and small (line 3233), and likewise in The Reeve s Tale when the Reeve notes, With buttokes brode and brestes rounde and hye (line 3975). The understandings of love to both the Miller and the Reeve resemble each other in how it is just something that is pleasing to the eyes and the body. Both of the wives in The Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale are quick to commit unholy sex acts with men who are not their husbands. For example, in The Miller s Tale, upon John, the carpenter, falling asleep, Nicholas and Alison decide to betray the reeve and have sexual relations with one another. And thus lyth Alison and Nicholas in bisinesse of mirthe and of solas (line 3653). Similarly, in The Reeve s Tale, the miller s wife becomes guilty of fornication once the miller has fallen asleep. A clear desire for nationalism and self nationalism in Vietnam was evident as early as the 15th century, when historian Nguyen Trai stated although we have been at times strong, and at times weak, we have always been Vietnamese and this will never change. The importance and significance of nationalism and establishing a sense of self determination was of vital concernment to the Vietnamese, in both the North and South of the country. Minh applied this theory to the war between the Vietnamese and French, claiming that the French were the elephants and the Vietminh troops were tigers, reinforcing the guerrilla warfare tactics that the Vietminh used to great success. Minh stated that time and resources were not of issue, the war was a fight for nationalism and self determination, regardless of the duration of the war or the amount of troops and resources lost, the Vietnamese would come out as victors. Ho Chi Minh said at a speech in Paris in 1946 you can kill 10 of our men for every one we kill of yours, but even at those odds, you will lose and we will win and we have a secret weapon, don t smile when I tell you this, our secret weapon is nationalism which emphasizes the desire and desperation the North Vietnam were willing to go to in order to self determine. The battle at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 was the culmination of the First Indochina War and as a result of North Vietnam s victory, French forces left and a sense of nationalism was prevalent. The Vietnamese were at war with the French due to the Communist forces in the North of Vietnam desiring the expulsion of French forces and colonisation to promote nationalism and self determination. The sea is known for its violent storms because of the difference in temperatures. Hills and mountains that reach nearly 2,000 feet high on the east side bound the sea. Another contributing factor to the storms is that the Sea of Galilee is only about 200 feet at its deepest, which causes the wind to create violent waves. The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus performed many of His miracles. Four of apostles Peter, Andrew, James, and John came to Jesus after he stilled a ragging storm; this is also, where Jesus and Peter walked on water. The Sea of Galilee also is the backdrop for feeding 5,000 people with only a loaf of bread and two fish. This is also, where Mary of Magdala was from. • 39. The Decision Making Is Defined As A Cognitive Process Forum 2: Original post Decision Making In life individuals are faced with a continuous flow of decisions to be made and problems to be solved. Decision making is defined as a cognitive process in which a choice is developed regarding a belief or course of action from among two or more alternatives (Robbins Judge, 2009). Individuals compose decisions as a reaction to a problem, a perceived deviation linking the present condition and a desired condition (Robbins, 2009). For example, in the radiation oncology field, multiple devices are used to make treatments more accurate, reproducible, and elevate patient comfort. These devices are used frequently so they quickly become worn. They must be checked periodically to ensure structural stability and compliance with infectious control regulations. Employees are given the task of examining the devices, making decisions regarding the condition of the devices, and reporting what needs to be replaced. Managers and employees must keep in mind that incessant replacement of these devices is costly and can cause interruptions in patient care. Managers and employees should compose optimal decisions regarding the care and replacement of such devices in order to be effective, efficient, and productive. Rational Decision Making Model One process discussed in organizational behavior for decision making is the Rational Decision Making Model. This model employs six steps for decision making: 1. Interpret the problem. 2. Determine the decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
