Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet Essay
Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet
Compare and contrast Oedipus and Hamlet. Is Oedipus more a man of action? Or is he more a man
driven by whim and sudden, rash decisions? Which character is more selfless? Does Hamlet show any
signs of selfish motives in his actions or inactions? Which protagonist seems more learned? wiser?
more religious? more loving? more incestuous? Which seems to be a better murder investigator? Does
Oedipus have any of Claudius motives when he kills the king, Laius? Then which murderer is more
blameworthy Oedipus or Claudius?
Different men in different eras: los41183 said in 2000: It is hard to compare two men with such
obvious religious and moralistic differences. Oedipus grew up in the time of the Greek ... Show more

Both protagonists were passionately determined to find the truth.
? Both were impulsive.
? Both had immense self pride, but
? Ultimately, both were good natured.
? They seek revenge for their fathers (although this is ironic in Oedipus Rex)
? Although O s arrogance may have led to his downfall, it is their impulsiveness that does in each
man: O s decree of exile parallels the gods requirements, but Hamlet s stabbing of Ophelia s father
right after NOT stabbing Claudius means that, in the grand scheme of things, he will have to die rather
than assume the throne.
? Both plays are tragedies that result from behind the scenes machinations the gods plot against O s
family because of Laius, while King Hamlet s brother plots against him.
? Perhaps the vivid imagery of poison in Hamlet parallels the curse in the family blood in Greek
tragedies in Oedipus Rex.
? Both plays are written in highly poetic language.
Passionate Oedipus vs. Pensive Hamlet: Becky Dorsett (Northern Virginia CC, 1998) offers this list of
contrasts between the two tragic protagonists:

Chemical Reaction Lab
Is A+C a chemical reaction? Yes, because of serval chemical changes happening to the solution before
and after. I came to this conclusion by using three pieces of evidence. The three pieces of evidence
were a ph imbalance, a dramatic density rise, and a change in electroconductivity.
The first piece of evidence I found came from the density lab and the ABC lab. The evidence was a un
natural and substantial increase in density. The density was 0.75g/cm^3 for both A and C, but later
A+C had a density of 1.25g/cm^3. This was significant due to density being a chemical property (this
I found in the sources above). Since a chemical property changed this clearly leads to a chemical
reaction between A and C. Density was my first and most crucial step hold to proving that A +C was a
chemical equation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both a and c were unconducive for electricity, but after they were combined the solution became
conductive. Since electroconductivity is a chemical property (a property which I found in the chemical
and physical property notes ) a change in that property would mean the mixture underwent a chemical
change. If a substance went through a chemical change it could be inferred that it also went through a
chemical reaction. Therefore, I instigated from this evidence that a+c was a chemical reaction.
The last reason that led me to infer that A+C was a chemical reaction was due to the Ph imbalance
between the solution before and after it was mixed. The Ph of a was 13 while the Ph of c was 3, but
when mixed their Ph became a 7 8 while it should have been slightly acidic instead of neutral. Also,
since the Ph changed inconsistently from before and after, A+C underwent a chemical change for their
power of hydrogen. This is the last evidence I used that to confirm and prove that A+C was a chemical

Interpreting Technical Skills
In chapter 9 it talks about how you approach the game. It first talks about the different skills that one
might run into. Technical skills, tactical skills, and defining skills each one brings its own concept and
importance to one s philosophy as well. I feel that a tactical skill is the most important because you
have to strategies against the opposing team. Some key points that stood out in what might use in
tactical skills, things that you have to remember if the opponents is left handed, or if the opponent
dribble with onee hand so switch the defense to make his job a lot harder using tactical skills helps
you gain an advantage over your opponent. In addition the book also talks about traditional approach,
which we are told to use that type of teaching style. This type of approach is something that we are
taught since we were in elementary. You start off by warming up which can include stretching and

Banning of Sugary Drinks
Should the government be able to tell us the amount of sugary drinks we consume? In the recent years
obesity has become a national problem. Because of obesity, the current generation of American
children might be having a shorter life than their parents. Children learn about acceptable behavior by
observing and copying their parents, in this case the healthy way they eat and drink. Existing factors
said that the ones responsible for a big change were sugary drinks causing us a drastic change in
health. Sodas for example are cheap, especially if you buy them on sale. That s one reason the obesity
rate is higher and more accessible to consume in low income families. To emphasize sugary drinks
mostly contain caffeine and chemicals in which harm our body. This cause make the government
concerned encouraging them to limit the amount consumed, but Do sugary drinks really cause the
problem? Does the Government have to take extreme actions to ban sugary drinks? Or Do we have the
right to drink wherever we want and how much we can to drink? According to New York Soft Drink
Size Limit , recently in New York City the limit on the 16 ounce sugary drinks law passed. As of
March 12, 2013, eight members of the New York City council approved this law to prohibit more than
16 ounces per beverage. This encounter to ban soppy drinks is supported by Mayor Michael
Bloomberg. The law prohibits, fast food restaurants, movie theaters, sports stadiums, and gas stations

Common Themes in Poetry Essay
Common Themes in Poetry
After reading and analysing numerous poems, I have chosen two examples of the famous Irish Poet,
Seamus Heaney s work: Follower and
Mid Term Break . Both poems relate to the poet s past, and are certainly associated with a specific loss
of a loved one one a literal loss, and the other a subconscious loss.
Mid Term Break , which I found to be a very touching and poignant poem, describes the loss of the
poet s younger brother, Christopher when Heaney was a child, hence the poem is of a childhood
tragedy as well as a loss. It s set in three places the introduction is situated in the college sick bay; the
main body of the poem is set in
Heaney s brother s funeral, and the final setting is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, we acknowledge that this isn t just any ordinary funeral someone very dear has been lost, a
small treasure; a small treasure who s absence has caused the strongest of rocks to crumble into an
emotional state.
A double meaning is presented in the final line of the second stanza:
Big Jim Evans saying it was a hard blow
The hard blow may be referring to the actual blow that killed
Christopher (as he was killed by a car), or the fact that it s a hard blow to the family. Either way, one
fact becomes apparent: the Heaney family have the support and love of everyone around them, but
that doesn t counteract for the tragic loss of Christopher it may help clean the wound, but the scar will
forever be visible. We also attain the knowledge, due to his very personal identity, that Big Jim Evans
is a family friend, and that he himself is shaken by the situation considering his very plain and yet
meaningful comment. Again, the sadness and incredibility of the incident is underlined not only
family members are grieving.
Another detection of change is seen in the third stanza, and this time it s a very uncomfortable change:
I was embarrassed
By old men standing up to shake my hand

The Holocaust And The Survivors Of The Holocaust
Even five years after the Holocaust, there were still survivors with nowhere to go.19 Few survivors
attempted to return home, and most of those who did stayed only a short time. They learned it was
nearly impossible for them to be in places so closely linked to their childhoods.20
Everything in their cities, towns and villages would remind them of years of humiliation of
unthinkable atrocities, of tragedy and irreparable loss.21 Those few survivors that did decide to return
to their home towns did not have it easy. Many survivors lost almost everything; not just their families
and friends, but also their properties, businesses and belongings. Some survivors returning to their
homes found them to have new tenants in them refusing to move. Others found out that their
belongings like valuables or household items had been sold to fund the October 1943 rescue. By
September 1945, 1,300 survivors of the Holocaust still had no permanent homes.22 Many returning
survivors faced taunts and threats from people in their villages.23
There were also the physical aspects of attempting to return home. One Polish Jew named Dora
Rytman had survived the Holocaust and wanted to go home. It was very difficult for anyone to return
home because a lot of the tracks and roads were in pieces because of previous bombings. Because of
this, Dora had to take many different trains to try to get home. It was very difficult to reach her home
town because it was snowing, and not many trains were going that

Sexual Behavior Analysis Paper
Measures: The independent measure in the study is the PrEP treatment while the dependent variable in
the study is change in sexual behavior over the course of the study. The PrEP treatment will be given
both of the comparison groups and will remain constant throughout the study. The purpose of the
study is to measure any change in the two comparison groups between each period gap and overall at
the end of the study. At each interval, the participants will go through a mixed methods research
analysis of the change in their sexual behavior. They will complete a Semantic Differential scale and
an interview with a researcher. During this process both quantitative and qualitative data will be
collected; quantitative data from the scale that will be used to measure their sexual behavior and
qualitative data from the interviews. The primary outcome measure will be the responses to the survey
at each interval; if the participants either continued their original sexual behavior or if they have
changed their sexual behavior to high risk or low risk. The survey responses will be used to calculate
the change in behavior, and to determine if the change that occurs is statistically significant or not. The
secondary outcome measure will compare the change in sexual behaviors with the covariances

The Downfall Of My Family
There is no pain quite as severe and longlasting as the pain of divorce. Nothing will ever compare to
the sting and agony of watching your beloved family fall victim to a plague that you are helpless to
fix. All you can hope to do is to stand by idly as everything you have ever loved turns to ash before
your eyes. From the nights of holding my sisters weeping head in my arms, to the nights where I
struggle to hold up my own, the evil that is divorce is all destroying and has changed my life in ways
that cannot be comprehended. However, just as a phoenix rises from the ashes of his destruction, one
can rise above the deep gloomy trenches of depression after the storm of divorce. It all comes down to
how you bounce back and learn from it. The downfall of my family had a long lasting effect on me
and is still present even today, This being said, the one lesson that has carried me through the years is
this: What does not kill me will only make me stronger in the days to come. My home was built upon
the founding family virtues of love, happiness, laughter, and compassion. However, the foundation it
was built upon was made of sand, destined from the start to be sucked in below to the depths of
failure. How can any home hope to prosper without a stable foundation? The answer is that it simply
cannot. That was strike one of the downfall of my family in the late year of 2012. The pink and red
bricks, rose garden and neatly trimmed grass mocked our family for what we would never be;

European American Exploration
European Exploration The fifteenth and sixteenth centuries were a period of exploration and
expansion for the powerful european monarchies, this change and the reasons for it affected european
and american society s. A nation had to be well established and strong before it could explore and

european orders wanted to spread the christian religion to the native americans of the new world and
also made some money from the towns they established. The Europeans were also in search of

Drug Legalization In Canada Essay
Summary
Recently there has been a lot of news surrounding the legalization of Marijuana in Canada. The
legalization is to actually take place in 2017. However, the discussion of this topic has already begun.
Many people are requesting the government to allow pardons on past possession charges. It is their
opinion that if the drug is going to be legalized sooner or later, it is justified to pardon the past
offences. The article even mentions two men whose lives are affected by the criminal record of having
minor narcotics. They both state that they are unable to travel abroad (namely to america), and have
personal issues such as landlords refusing to rent to them. It is their opinion, alongside others, that just
because of a small charge their lives do not need to be affected so much. Especially considering that
the government is going to legalize the drug anyway. The article also mentions how the previous
conservative government made it harder to receive a pardon. Due to this, many people have be unable
to erase the marks of their past and begin on a new clean slate.

of our country will now be able to legally utilize these drugs, it does have a larger impact. As far as

ally way. The the people who are asking for pardons, I believe that they should be allowed to go
through the pardon system and have a chance at getting one. Obviously, there will be some people
who are not eligible to receive a pardon. This fact, however, is decided by the parole board. I think it
would be best if the system went back to how it was before the previous government made the process
harder. That way, the people who do deserve the pardon, can receive

The Fellow Nurse s Situation

Upon reading this case scenario, my initial reaction to this situation is that I understand the fellow
nurse s situation. But at the same time, I also questioned his accountability and moral responsibility as
a nurse. The importance of keeping personal and professional life separate and being able to work
without jeopardizing clients life.
There are two sides of ethical dilemma from this scenario. First, the fellow nurse who has mistakenly
gave wrong dosage of medication to a client, the reason being that he is recently divorced and he is a

It is tough to go against someone who is a friend especially after knowing his situation. But on other
hand, honesty is important in every aspect of life. Especially when it comes to putting someone s life
in danger, concealing the truth will make me feel guilty for the rest of my life.
The two nursing ethical values that were questioned in this situation are maintaining commitment and
truthfulness. Maintaining commitments means keeping promises, being honest and meeting implicit or
explicit obligations towards their clients, themselves, each other, the nursing profession, other
members of the health care team and quality practice setting. (CNO Ethics, 2009). In this case, the
fellow nurse compromised the client s safety and well being by not maintaining nurses primary
responsibility to provide safe, effective and ethical care to their patients. Truthfulness means to keep
the clients informed about everything with accurate information. But in this situation, it was total
opposite because the fellow nurse didn t disclose his mistake to the patient and other health care
professionals involved in the patient s care. He instead left his friend nurse in a difficult position by
telling only her about the incident and telling her not to tell others.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN PROFORMA
INTRODUCTION/RATIONALE
My classroom management philosophy
My classroom management philosophy is evolved around the best way to facilitate knowledge to the
students. All the students should have equal opportunity and access to learning within my classroom. I
believe that students should have an element of fun and relaxation to make the students and teacher
feel like a community. My teaching approach is authoritative/ democratic, using an instructional
management plan, following an interactionist theory of teaching.
I am heavily influenced by theorist Jacob Kounin where he believes that teachers prevent misbehavior
through awareness in the classroom and by using effective lesson management techniques to influence
student behavior. I believe that primary prevention is fundamental with dealing with classroom
management, the key is the set the ground and to accommodate to those who need more attention such
as student with unstable emotional behavior and learning disorder as students are increasingly
showing signs of anxiety in classrooms. It is important to respect the student s dignity, enabling them
to grow in confidence and to be comfortable within their classroom environment where positive
classroom management strategies will be utilized
I will introduce methods that best suit my students incorporating student interests and preferred
activities with grounded classroom rules and procedures to accelerate their learning building their

A Plan For Reducing Poverty Through Debt Forgiveness
In 1995 James Wolfensohn was appointed president of the World Bank. With this new opportunity he
designed a plan in hopes of reducing poverty through debt forgiveness. The plan was called the highly
indebted poor countries (HIPC) initiative Countries would be eligible for this plan if they had
unsustainable debt, debt ranging from 200 250% of their export earnings. The first stage of HIPC
involved a structural adjustment for 3 years until the Decision Point was reached, if the debt was still
unsustainable there would be a 67% cancellation. The country would then enter stage two which
included another 3 years of adjustment until the completion point, 80% debt reduction and debt owed
to the IMF would be cancelled by taking out of the HIPC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2001 Ghana began the process in hopes of qualifying for the highly indebted poor countries (HIPC)
relief initiative in hopes of gaining financial commitment to the Ghana Poverty reduction Strategy
(GPRS). The goal of the GPRS and HIPC was to increase food security and income as well as welfare
needs such as health, education, and water. Ghana s economy at the time was dealing with high
inflation, and declining exchange rate. The HIPC initiative aims to reduce the NPV or net present
value of external debt to a maximum 150% exports or, for small open economies, to 250% of
government revenue at the time of HIPC completion point (Afoom, N 2011). The main problem most
countries seem to face with regards to HIPC is whether or not debt sustainability is achievable when it
comes to low income countries.
While the original HIPC initiative was quite successful in relieving debt and reaching Ghana s
completion point, the enhanced HIPC is believed to be what will keep them from falling back into
where they started. The enhanced HIPC initiative was born during the G summit in Cologne, Germany
in 1999. The initiative not only helps develop the country but also puts into place strategies that can be
clearly used to reduce poverty. Funding for the initiative comes from two types of creditors; bilateral
and commercial, and multilateral creditors. With the new enhanced HIPC initiative came new
components and policies. The enhanced HIPC

Psalm 24
Next, with the capacity to divaricate into three distinct thought components, Psalm 24 actually has
congruence, as it covers a sequential range of actions which include declaration, preparation and
finally praise. It is also considered to be a liturgical psalm due to the manner of wording and
conveyance of access requirements with regard to being fit to enter the temple for worship unto God
(Varughese, n.d., p. 7). One course of thought among scholars and commentators for this psalm, is that
it likely embodies the time when the David brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed edom
into the city of David with gladness (2 Samuel 6:12, New American Standard Bible; Kidner, 2014, p.

As mentioned previously, within this psalm, there are three distinct strophes, or stanzas, in view.
Bullock (2005) noted that, at the heart of Hebrew poetry is a device called parallelism (p. 36). Several
instances of parallelism are found in Psalm 24, and especially in the first two strophes. For example,
in the first distich, we see David proclaiming that The earth is the Lord s, and all it contains, the
world, and those who dwell in it (Psalm 24:1, King James Version). These two units are an example of

Gao Protest vs. Agency-Level Protest
GAO Protest vs. Agency Level Protest
Introduction
The United States government is the largest single purchaser of goods and services in the world. Even
during times of economic hardship, the US continues to dump billions into the private sector. The
federal procurement spending rate of growth has surpassed the rate of U.S. inflation every year, since
2000. With annual federal procurement budgets of more than $400 billion, it is no surprise that the
competition for government contracts has increased tremendously. Consequently, more and more
companies are trying to get a piece of the action. When these companies adhere to all of the required
regulations and statutes, they expect their proposals to be evaluated and the contract awarded in ...

With the exception of those instances outlined in FAR 16.505(b) (4), these kinds of protests should be
delivered to the agency s task and delivery order ombudsman (Nacke Ralston 2011).
The agency level protest process is started when the contractor delivers the written protest to the
contracting officer or other delegated representative. The protest should include the name and contact
information of the contractor, the solicitation or contract number, a statement which requests a ruling
and provides a detailed description of the reasons for the protest, back up documentation, and the
contractor s requested relief. Within the statement, the contractor must also provide documentation to
show that they qualify as an interested person and that the protest was submitted within the timeframe
requested (Nacke Ralston 2011).
The remaining procedure will vary from one agency to another. These will also determine who is
assigned to review the dispute; the contracting officer, ombudsman or by an independent decision
authority who ranks higher than the contracting officer. If the dispute is reviewed by the contracting
officer, they are required to prepare a report to be reviewed by the agency appellate. The FAR does not
require the agency to draft a report addressing the dispute however, some agencies require this through
their internal protest

Belly Flop Research Paper
Our results show that doing a belly flop would cause the most harm to a person who is diving into a
pool of water. This is based off of the greater speed that a person belly flops into the water (8.3 m/s2),
which is more than both head first diving (7.73 m/s2) and rotating into the water (7.34 m/s2). Also, the
amount of force that the water exerts on the body while doing a belly flop (1079 N) is greater than the
amount of force the water exerts on the body while head first diving (1004.95 N) and rotating into the
water (954.2 N). It takes approximately 3,300 N to crack bones, such as a rib and approximately 4,000

The Elasticity Of Babies And Children s Brains
Infants have an incredible mind in that they have the ability to learn and master a language in a
relatively quick matter of time. The elasticity of babies and children s brains is remarkable. It has been
quite astonishing to watch my eleven month old niece grow and learn as she studies the things that my
family and I say and do. She understands a range of words and sentences even though she is not able
to actually articulate them yet. Soon she will be going from a blabbering mumbo jumbo speaking baby
to being able to annunciate clear, complex words and sentences in only a matter of years.
Neuroscientists are now able to paint a picture of the transitional period of what happens in a baby s
brain during this learning process. When a baby is born, the brain can recognize about 800 sounds,
called phonemes. These sounds arrange all the words in every language around the world. When the
baby grows from six to twelve months, they enter what neuroscientists call a sensitive period, in
which the brain is prepared to assemble the first basic lessons of language. The infant s brain is most
susceptible to learning the sounds of their language at six months for vowels and at nine months for
constants. Research shows that the sensitive period only lasts but a few months but can be stretched
for a longer period of time if the child is exposed to a second language. On average, a child s brain
contains the elasticity to be able to learn a second language with articulacy until they

Persuasive Essay On California
According to the author Scott Smith, Zooming through the Central Valley at 200 mph, the trains could

How Did Lolne Contribute To Lincoln s Childhood
Born as Alex Alexander Milne, A. A. Milne was born in London, England to John Vine Milne and

the fear that one will have to pay for it (Bright 1). Milne s surroundings and upbringings lead to his

College students at Colorado State University are experiencing a significant weight gain within their

Many people wonder what it is about college that causes such a tremendous weight gain for students.

the Iraq and Afghanistan among other considerations forced United States to seek diplomatic

Summary Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson And The Ones...
Sacrifice for Peace It is safe to say to say that one person does not deserve harm for the betterment of
a society or a community. In the short stories, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson and The Ones Who

for better. Although each society believes in the practice, in the story The Ones Who Walk Away from
Omelas the citizens believes the practice of locking a little boy away in a closest will benefit them to
live happily and prosper. In The Lottery a town of people hold a yearly assembly where a person of
the community is randomly chosen to be stoned for the hope of more crops in the fall. Each of the
stories display sacrifice in their theme, as well as people in the community who believe that the
practice of sacrifice is wrong, and the belief that the benefits for all come from pain and suffering of
one single individual. In the story, The Lottery people in the community practice sacrifice by going
through a process of drawing names. In the story the characters assemble in town square to draw
names out of a black box that has been used for decades. Their form of sacrifice has been a town ritual
that everyone in the community has become accustomed to for some time. When the day comes for

Stereotypes In The Searchers Movie
The Searchers (1956) directed by John Ford is a Western movie following the life of Ethan Edwards
as he searches for his niece, Debby, who was captured by a Comanche tribe. In this film, there is a
scene (1:13:42 1:15:50) which shows Ethan and Marty going into a US Cavalry fort to see if the
Cavalry officers have Debby or not. When Ethan and Marty go into the fort, they see a white woman
on the floor, screaming and rocking around, and two girls sitting dumbly. Then Ethan and Marty
decide that Debby is not there and leave.
In this scene, diegetic sound, sound that can be heard by the actors, is a prominent element. Dialogue

In the time this film was made, the dying days of the classic Western, Native Americans were being
portrayed as the savage side less and less. (ref: http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great movie the

message in this scene of the film contradicts his beliefs. However this does not mean John Ford was
racist, it simply shows the ideas that were common in society in the time this film was made. John
Ford used the characters Ethan and the US Cavarly officers to embody the ideas of society in the 1950
s. Later in the film, the prejudice against Native Americans reduces in Ethan s character. At the time of
this scene, he hates Native Americans with no exceptions. However near the end of the movie he
becomes more tolerant of Native Americans, for example when he brought Debby home safely instead
of killing her. As killing Debby would ve put Ethan into bad light, the decision of him not killing her
brings an anti racism message, which was something that John Ford believed in. This helps highlight
change of character in Ethan. It shows that people should look past race and skin colour when making
decisions about and loving people. In comparison to the racist message in

Those Winter Sundays By Robert Hayden
In Class Essay #1: Those Winter Sundays
In the poem Those Winter Sunday s written by Robert Hayden, he writes about how in his childhood,
his father would generously warm the home and shine his shoes. As an adult, Hayden finds himself
regretting the lack of gratitude he had for his father s small generosities. The poem displays a great
description of the deep feelings the son has for his father and what his father sacrificed for them. As
the poem gradually progresses, the son realizes that he lacked in displaying his love and gratitude for
his father.
Robert Hayden concludes in his poem how the speaker s father would express himself in a personal
way. He was never affectionate; he just strived to make sure his family was warm and safe. Even after
his labor demanding job, he would still take care of his family and ask for nothing in return, allowing

Media Positive Impact
Technology is evolving each and every day. Because of this new technology, people are now able to
communicate their thoughts and feelings with those all over the world. There are many social media
platforms out there including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, the list goes on and on. But, is
it hurting the way we communicate with others around us on a day to day basis? Before these
platforms were introduced to the public, people were only able to communicate with others through
the use of letters or by speaking to one another face to face. Since technology has started to take over,
more and more people are meeting people all over the world that they weren t able to talk to before.
However, since online communication is global, that means instead of having to just please those
around us, some of us think we have to please every single person that we encounter on social media.
This isn t much of a good thing because it forces us to worry about what people we haven t even met
before think about us, rather than worrying about what s going on around you. Social media may make
communicating with others easier, but it also has the power to take us away from the important things
happening in our lives. Since networking through the use of various social media platforms was
introduced, communicating with others has never been easier. In his essay titled, How Social Media is

The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healingg
The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healing
Abstract
Caring for patients with wounds is commonly encountered in a nurse s career in most health care
settings, whether it is in neonatal, mental health, community, or aged care. In the past, wound
dressings were created to absorb all exudate, believing that dry wounds will reduce the risk of
infection. Within the last fifty years, the concept of moist wound therapy has become the most
effective approach to wound care. Before treating any wound, it is important to discover the
underlying cause and consider other possible factors that may impact on the healing process and
deliver a systematic and rational approach towards wound care assessment. Nurses must have a basic

Describing the overall appearance of the wound is necessary to classify it (Brown amp; Edwards, 200,
p.223). Open wounds can be found in pressure ulcers that involve the skin separating apart, whilst
closed wounds the skin is held together mainly by sutures [FIGURE 1 page 3] (Dealey amp; Cameron,
2008, p.68). Identifying the aetiology correctly also determine if the wound is either acute or chronic
and what depth of the tissue is affected (Brown amp; Edwards, 2008, p.227).

  • 2. Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet Essay Comparison of Oedipus and Hamlet Compare and contrast Oedipus and Hamlet. Is Oedipus more a man of action? Or is he more a man driven by whim and sudden, rash decisions? Which character is more selfless? Does Hamlet show any signs of selfish motives in his actions or inactions? Which protagonist seems more learned? wiser? more religious? more loving? more incestuous? Which seems to be a better murder investigator? Does Oedipus have any of Claudius motives when he kills the king, Laius? Then which murderer is more blameworthy Oedipus or Claudius? Different men in different eras: los41183 said in 2000: It is hard to compare two men with such obvious religious and moralistic differences. Oedipus grew up in the time of the Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both protagonists were passionately determined to find the truth. ? Both were impulsive. ? Both had immense self pride, but ? Ultimately, both were good natured. ? They seek revenge for their fathers (although this is ironic in Oedipus Rex) ? Although O s arrogance may have led to his downfall, it is their impulsiveness that does in each man: O s decree of exile parallels the gods requirements, but Hamlet s stabbing of Ophelia s father right after NOT stabbing Claudius means that, in the grand scheme of things, he will have to die rather than assume the throne. ? Both plays are tragedies that result from behind the scenes machinations the gods plot against O s family because of Laius, while King Hamlet s brother plots against him. ? Perhaps the vivid imagery of poison in Hamlet parallels the curse in the family blood in Greek tragedies in Oedipus Rex. ? Both plays are written in highly poetic language. Passionate Oedipus vs. Pensive Hamlet: Becky Dorsett (Northern Virginia CC, 1998) offers this list of contrasts between the two tragic protagonists: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chemical Reaction Lab Is A+C a chemical reaction? Yes, because of serval chemical changes happening to the solution before and after. I came to this conclusion by using three pieces of evidence. The three pieces of evidence were a ph imbalance, a dramatic density rise, and a change in electroconductivity. The first piece of evidence I found came from the density lab and the ABC lab. The evidence was a un natural and substantial increase in density. The density was 0.75g/cm^3 for both A and C, but later A+C had a density of 1.25g/cm^3. This was significant due to density being a chemical property (this I found in the sources above). Since a chemical property changed this clearly leads to a chemical reaction between A and C. Density was my first and most crucial step hold to proving that A +C was a chemical equation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both a and c were unconducive for electricity, but after they were combined the solution became conductive. Since electroconductivity is a chemical property (a property which I found in the chemical and physical property notes ) a change in that property would mean the mixture underwent a chemical change. If a substance went through a chemical change it could be inferred that it also went through a chemical reaction. Therefore, I instigated from this evidence that a+c was a chemical reaction. The last reason that led me to infer that A+C was a chemical reaction was due to the Ph imbalance between the solution before and after it was mixed. The Ph of a was 13 while the Ph of c was 3, but when mixed their Ph became a 7 8 while it should have been slightly acidic instead of neutral. Also, since the Ph changed inconsistently from before and after, A+C underwent a chemical change for their power of hydrogen. This is the last evidence I used that to confirm and prove that A+C was a chemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Interpreting Technical Skills In chapter 9 it talks about how you approach the game. It first talks about the different skills that one might run into. Technical skills, tactical skills, and defining skills each one brings its own concept and importance to one s philosophy as well. I feel that a tactical skill is the most important because you have to strategies against the opposing team. Some key points that stood out in what might use in tactical skills, things that you have to remember if the opponents is left handed, or if the opponent dribble with onee hand so switch the defense to make his job a lot harder using tactical skills helps you gain an advantage over your opponent. In addition the book also talks about traditional approach, which we are told to use that type of teaching style. This type of approach is something that we are taught since we were in elementary. You start off by warming up which can include stretching and moving the body parts, basic technical skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore you want to have a good momentum and flow your lessons try to limit horse playing. You want to avoid meanless drills and making your lesson boring because then you is going to have accidents occur because you don t have the students attention. Because of obesity, the current generation of American children might be having a shorter life than their parents. Existing factors said that the ones responsible for a big change were sugary drinks causing us a drastic change in health. Sodas for example are cheap, especially if you buy them on sale. Common Themes in Poetry Essay Common Themes in Poetry After reading and analysing numerous poems, I have chosen two examples of the famous Irish Poet, Seamus Heaney s work: Follower and Mid Term Break . Both poems relate to the poet s past, and are certainly associated with a specific loss of a loved one one a literal loss, and the other a subconscious loss. Mid Term Break , which I found to be a very touching and poignant poem, describes the loss of the poet s younger brother, Christopher when Heaney was a child, hence the poem is of a childhood tragedy as well as a loss. Either way, one fact becomes apparent: the Heaney family have the support and love of everyone around them, but that doesn t counteract for the tragic loss of Christopher it may help clean the wound, but the scar will forever be visible. We also attain the knowledge, due to his very personal identity, that Big Jim Evans is a family friend, and that he himself is shaken by the situation considering his very plain and yet meaningful comment. Again, the sadness and incredibility of the incident is underlined not only family members are grieving. Another detection of change is seen in the third stanza, and this time it s a very uncomfortable change: I was embarrassed By old men standing up to shake my hand I find

They learned it was nearly impossible for them to be in places so closely linked to their childhoods.20 Everything in their cities, towns and villages would remind them of years of humiliation of unthinkable atrocities, of tragedy and irreparable loss.21 Those few survivors that did decide to return to their home towns did not have it easy. Many survivors lost almost everything; not just their families and friends, but also their properties, businesses and belongings. Some survivors returning to their homes found them to have new tenants in them refusing to move. Others found out that their belongings like valuables or household items had been sold to fund the October 1943 rescue. By September 1945, 1,300 survivors of the Holocaust still had no permanent homes.22 Many returning survivors faced taunts and threats from people in their villages.23 There were also the physical aspects of attempting to return home. One Polish Jew named Dora Rytman had survived the Holocaust and wanted to go home. It was very difficult for anyone to return home because a lot of the tracks and roads were in pieces because of previous bombings. Ghana s economy at the time was dealing with high inflation, and declining exchange rate. The HIPC initiative aims to reduce the NPV or net present value of external debt to a maximum 150% exports or, for small open economies, to 250% of government revenue at the time of HIPC completion point (Afoom, N 2011). Bullock (2005) noted that, at the heart of Hebrew poetry is a device called parallelism (p. 36). Several instances of parallelism are found in Psalm 24, and especially in the first two strophes. For example, in the first distich, we see David proclaiming that The earth is the Lord s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it (Psalm 24:1, King James Version). These two units are an example of synonymous parallelism, which Bullock (2005) noted as meaning that the thought pattern in one line conforms to the pattern in the successive line (p. 36, BULLOCK, PARAPHRASE THIS). Next, in verses three and four, we find the psalmist using a form of synthetic parallelism, which involves the second line solving or completing the thought of the first line (Owensboro Community and Technical College, n.d., para. 7). This can be seen in verse three when David asks the questions Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? The elasticity of babies and children s brains is remarkable. It has been quite astonishing to watch my eleven month old niece grow and learn as she studies the things that my family and I say and do. She understands a range of words and sentences even though she is not able to actually articulate them yet. Soon she will be going from a blabbering mumbo jumbo speaking baby to being able to annunciate clear, complex words and sentences in only a matter of years. Neuroscientists are now able to paint a picture of the transitional period of what happens in a baby s brain during this learning process. When a baby is born, the brain can recognize about 800 sounds, called phonemes. These sounds arrange all the words in every language around the world. When the baby grows from six to twelve months, they enter what neuroscientists call a sensitive period, in which the brain is prepared to assemble the first basic lessons of language. The infant s brain is most susceptible to learning the sounds of their language at six months for vowels and at nine months for constants. Research shows that the sensitive period only lasts but a few months but can be stretched for a longer period of time if the child is exposed to a second language. The director, John Ford, believed that hatred of Native Americans was wrong, but the message in this scene of the film contradicts his beliefs. However this does not mean John Ford was racist, it simply shows the ideas that were common in society in the time this film was made. John Ford used the characters Ethan and the US Cavarly officers to embody the ideas of society in the 1950 s. Later in the film, the prejudice against Native Americans reduces in Ethan s character. At the time of this scene, he hates Native Americans with no exceptions. However near the end of the movie he becomes more tolerant of Native Americans, for example when he brought Debby home safely instead of killing her. As killing Debby would ve put Ethan into bad light, the decision of him not killing her brings an anti racism message, which was something that John Ford believed in. This helps highlight change of character in Ethan. It shows that people should look past race and skin colour when making decisions about and loving people. In comparison to the racist message in ... There are many social media platforms out there including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, the list goes on and on. But, is it hurting the way we communicate with others around us on a day to day basis? Before these platforms were introduced to the public, people were only able to communicate with others through the use of letters or by speaking to one another face to face. Since technology has started to take over, more and more people are meeting people all over the world that they weren t able to talk to before. However, since online communication is global, that means instead of having to just please those around us, some of us think we have to please every single person that we encounter on social media. This isn t much of a good thing because it forces us to worry about what people we haven t even met before think about us, rather than worrying about what s going on around you. Social media may make communicating with others easier, but it also has the power to take us away from the important things happening in our lives.
