Differences Between Seals And Walruses
In contrast to whales, seals and walruses have remained heavily furred marine mammals. There are
several differences that make the retention of fur an adaptive trait in seals and walruses. These
advantages can be divided into three categories; life aspects, evolutionary descent, diving differences.
The first among these are their life aspects. Seals and walruses spend much of their time in the water
foraging however; land is required for the birthing and rearing of their young. In addition to this seals
are one of the few species in which the female receives no help in raising their young. The female is
the sole provider of food for herself and the infant meaning she must leave the infant alone on the
surface while she hunts. Young seals remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whales are descended from large hoofed predators called mesonychids in the Pakistan area. While
seals and walruses descended from a bear like ancestor, the ursoids. (Rybczynski, Dawson, and
Tedford 2009) In addition the carnivores and ungulates had long since separated before the convergent
evolution that lead to whales, seals and walruses to move back to the ocean. (Prothero 2014) The
predatory nature of carnivore that leads them to hunt their prey may also play a part in differentiating
these mammals. They hunt animals that may live in the sea or on land such as the penguin and must be
adapted as such to follow their prey from sea to land in order to catch it. During the evolution of these
animals hair was lost in the whales but retained in the seals and walruses another reason this may have
happened is because some seals and walruses eat the mussels, clams and other bivalves that live on the
ocean floor. Hair in the form of whiskers or vibrissae that is present in seals and walruses serves a
mechanoreception role. They assist in finding food such as mussels and clams on the ocean floor.
These vibrissae have a sensitive innervated sinus area that allows the vibrissae to be used as a sensory
organ rather than for thermoregulation as the rest of the body fur is used. It may be that the body fur
remains because of these vibrissae. If the seals and walruses were to begin losing the fur on their body
as insulation and to spend more time in the sea than they could also risk losing the vibrissae that
assists them in finding food below the ocean surface since it too is a type of hair. (Maderson

Dramatic Irony In The Birds
The Birds Formative Birds bring beauty into the world, Mrs, Bundy tells a distraught Melanie Daniels.
But do they? In the film, The Birds, directed by Albert Hitchcock, Melanie Daniels chase s lawyer
Mitch Brenner to the small town of Bodega Bay, gifting him a pair of lovebirds for his sister. Melanie
however, gets caught up in the rampant bird problem that plagues the town when she arrives.
Hitchcock creates suspense in the movie by using the element of dramatic irony, in order to instill a
sense of helplessness into the audience as they watch disaster unfold before the characters of the
picture. Dramatic irony was a major element used for implementing suspense in to the film. A

The US Economy 1970-1970
According to political and journalistic rhetoric, the United States rely on a market economy that
allocates financial resources. Thus, the forces of supply and demand, generally unaffected by
government intervention, are perceived as determining the quantities, qualities and prices of goods and
services produced in the domestic economy. The origins of this belief probably relapse into two
distinctive features of the US economy, the development of private ownership of capital, combined
with a relatively small business, public sector and the absence of a strong centralized economic
planning. However, this common belief is a myth long.
Through the civil law and regulation, state and local governments and the federal government

First of all, every economic sector that was subject to economic regulation before 1975, has undergone
significant changes in the nature and extent of regulation. These changes had profound effects on the
structure of industries, price levels, costs and productivity. The industries in which changes occurred
in economic regulations are the carriers, heavy transport, public transport, railways,
telecommunications, production and transportation of natural gas, cable television, banking and
financial services , electricity and property insurance and liability. These industries vary in structure,
behavior, nature of regulation, and distribution of responsibilities between federal and state regulatory
authorities. There are also wide variations in the major reasons, causes, and consequences of
regulatory changes in these industries.
The airlines and trucking industry were the clearest almost total price and entry regulation cases. Until
1977 the air fares and route structures were severely regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB)
and similarly heavy transport was regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC). Often,
authorizing that competitors offer their services on specific routes, but price competition was impeded
by price regulation based on average costs across the industry. Theoretical research on regulations in
these industries, conducted in the

The Theme Of Escapism In The Swing By Robert Louis Frost
The poem presents to us the theme of escapism, as the child pictured in the poem escapes the harsh
adult world by swinging on the swing, and imagining herself/ himself in the sky. The last line of the
poem proves to us that what the author wrote as down is actually the adult world and the harsh reality
we live in Up in the air and down! This poem encourages readers; it is telling them that you don t need
feathers to fly. All you need to have is imagination to achieve the goal your mind wants. Even though
the poem is about the simplicity of child s mind, it teaches us something. It teaches us how to use and
adorn our imaginative world. It is important for us to have imaginative power as it is necessary in this
busy world. Sometimes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frost uses a lot of imagery, for example in Shattering and avalanching . The writer tends to use a
number of extended metaphors, for example in Soon the sun s warmth makes them shed crystal shells
Shattering and avalanching on the snow crust he then turns the metaphor into an extended metaphor
by adding a new metaphor Such heaps of broken glass to sweep away . The swing doesn t use as many
literary devices. The poem s main theme is obviously escapism. That is why it is similar to Robert
Louis Stevenson s poem The Swing . The boy in Frost s poem is symbolic to the character, as it is
something that the man likes to imagine during his tough days or to escape from reality. Frost, just like
Stevenson, highlights the importance of imagination in our lives, and how it can help us during hard
times. The word Swing is not only the swinging of birches, or swinging up and down, it is a swing
from the reality towards imagination, towards heaven, away from the

Moral Judgement And Crime Dram An Integrated Theory Of...
A vast majority of researchers believe there is too much violence portrayed through media such as
television, movies, and video games. This violent content is also perceived as harmful and is having a
negative effect on those who consistently view it, especially our youth. Therefore, rating systems and
content blocking devices have been designed to warn viewers of graphic content or to place
inappropriate out of reach for those not suited to view it. Yet, if there is so much concern circulating
violent media, why is it that companies continue to create such content and push the envelope? It s
similar to the concept of junk food, it s bad for you but people love to eat it; violent content is bad for
the viewer but a majority of viewers are attracted to violent media. It s not easy to say why people are
attracted to violent content, it could be for various reason, including social norms and wanting what
you can t have. No matter the reason, marketers and companies have found ways to make violence
appeal to all markets, ultimately giving people what they desire .
The study, Moral Judgement and Crime Drama: An Integrated Theory of Enjoyment, looks at the
connections behind violent media and the enjoyment people receive from it. More specifically
researchers, Raney and Bryant, want to find the connections between affective and cognitive response
in people while they view violent content. They describe affective processing as being able to have

The Usage Of Proper English
1.) I think it is important to strive for both the usage of proper English and to present good ideas as a
criteria for academic papers or in an academic setting. The reason I am convinced that usage of proper
English creates clearer communication is because of my experience in the business world. Through
schooling I have learned how to speak and write better and use words that pertain to the business I
practiced. I have worked in the teaching profession and have experienced what happens when a parent
does not have a clear idea of the educational goals the teach and school has for their child, or the
overall goals that the particular school holds as valuable. I taught in a Montessori School and
Montessori has a particular educational model that each school follows to a certain degree. It is the
owner s prerogative to determine how closely they follow the Montessori Method. Therefore, as a
parent there are several things to be concerned with. 1.) What model did Maria Montessori use? 2.) To
what degree does the school follow the Montessori Method. 3.) Do I understand and agree with the
educational process 4.) What are the goals the Montessori teacher is setting for my child? Therefore,
clear communication is essential in business. .As stated in the article by Exforsys. Why Speaking
Proper English is Important for Your Career. June.6,2007 A number of studies have consistently
demonstrated that those who have an advanced knowledge of the English language are much more

The amount of households subscribing to cable and satellite television has indeed grown. What they
could not have foreseen was the emerging rent by mail market. Pay per view has always been a
competitor to Blockbuster, but also offers a limited, dynamic selection of new releases only. Premium
cable channels such as HBO and Showtime have also been on the rise in subscription, but lack of
quality movies and control over what is shown have still allowed Blockbuster to fulfill its target
market. Recently, certain major cable providers have begun offering On Demand television. On
Demand has two forms, fee per month, and pay per view. The fee per month system is offered by the
major pay channels such as HBO and Showtime, and basically allows the subscriber to browse the
network s constantly rotating selection and pick what movie they want to watch and when. This is not
widely available but could become a major threat as more cable providers offer it as an option. Its only
drawback is the consumer pays their monthly fee and has no control over the selections they have to
choose from. Now, there is online rent by mail. Under rent by mail, the consumer still pays a monthly
subscription fee comparable to HBO On Demand, but now can choose from thousands of titles and
watch and return them whenever they please. The leader in this niche of the market is Netflix. Netflix
boasts offering over 25,000 titles available for rent at anytime. Netflix,

Virtual Teaching Hospital Research
For the change project, my mentor and I have chosen to discuss one of the topics listed in the Virtual
Teaching Hospital. We are going to address the increase in falls on the medical surgical unit. Falls and
injuries due to falls is a serious and dangerous problem which can lead to serious injuries, adverse
patient outcomes and high costs for hospitals. Falls and fall injuries in hospitals are the most
frequently reported adverse event among adults in the inpatient setting. Advancing measurement and
improvement around falls prevention in the hospital is important as falls are a nurse sensitive measure
and nurses play a key role in this component of patient care (Quigley White, 2013). Improving the
quality of care and patient safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other personnel may be included as needed throughout the process. As a team, a plan for
implementing the best practices needs to be developed. These practices need to be processes that are
based on literature and evidence based research.
The first phase of the change process is preparing for the change. This includes defining the strategy
that will be used and developing a model for implementation. The second phase is managing change.
This phase includes developing change management plans and implementing them. In this phase, it is
also vital to train managers and supervisors about the change process, as well as, training the primary
caregivers, which include the nurse and assistive personnel. The third and final phase is reinforcing
the change. This phase includes collecting feedback, managing resistance, implement corrective
actions, and lastly, recognizing and acknowledging success.
Because, the change process needs to be a collaborative effort in order to be successful, there are
multiple change agents involved in this processes. However, the leader of the change process is the
primary change agent. The change agent acts as a catalyst for change. The leader is the person that
recognizes that a change is necessary and initiates the process to implement the change. In order to be
successful, the change agent needs to have a clear vision of

Symbolism in “Cats” and “Shiloh”
Jill McCorkle, along with Bobbie Ann Mason often use the symbolism of a short story to further the
meaning of the piece. In the short story Shiloh , Mason uses Leroy and Norma Jean to exhibit a further
meaning of the story by effectively using symbolism. In addition to Shiloh , McCorkle also uses
symbolism in her story Cats to symbolise how cats can be related to humans in multiple ways.
McCorkle describes the relationship between two cats, Pumpkin Pie and Possum, and their two human
counterparts, Anne and Abbott, and how they share similar characteristics. In works such as Shiloh
and Cats , symbolism furthers the meaning of the story and leave the interpretation of the work up to
the reader.
In Bobbie Ann Mason s short story Shiloh , Mason uses the marriage of Leroy and Norma Jean to
symbolise how Leroy s life decisions can be detrimental to his marriage. Ever since Leroy was in an
accident while driving a truck, he was able to stay at home with Norma Jean often. This time together
make them realize how little they still loved each other. Mason uses the symbolism of him losing his
job to represent how their love for each other has deterred over the course of their marriage. Bobbie
Ann Mason use symbolism effectively when he writes Norma Jean has reached the bluff, and she is

National Peace and Security
Security is everywhere. It is needed for virtually everything that is accessed today. From starting your
car, to logging onto Facebook, to clocking in at work, security is always present. One of the most
noticeable forms of security is the police and the Army. They are the security for the country, both for
internal and external threats. Police are more internal security, dealing with crimes caused by the
general population. Army deals with outside threats, by addressing situations that are overseas that can
cause harm to those within the States. To protect from these threats, the security appears to look
intimidating, due to powerful weapons and armor placed upon the person. However, when this
happens, a side effect occurs, where the civilians may become scared of the force, and begin to distrust
the security, and also began to fear corruption. To be able to stop this side effect from happening, the
security sector reformation must find the corrupt who cause the distrust and fear to occur, and end it.
The way to best reform the security sector within societies within transition is by finding and
removing the corrupt, and by doing that, you will raise faith in the security sector by the people. High

Thin Layer Chromatography And Column Chromatography
Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography
By Maggi Shelton
Under the Supervision of Dr. Mills Chavonda
The Department of Chemistry and Physics
Milledgeville, GA 31061 Abstract:
Thin layer chromatography and column chromatography are two different methods that allow for the
separation of two miscible solvents. Through column chromatography, a mixture of nonpolar fluorine
and polar fluorenone was successfully separated. Thin layer chromatography was then used in order to
determine the success of the separation based upon the calculated Rf values, which if the Rf value fell
below zero or was above one, then the separation was not successful.
Introduction: Methods used to separate miscible solvents include thin layer chromatography (TLC) as
well as column chromatography. A method used to separate a mixture of miscible solvents is column
chromatography, which is used to purify and separate compounds. The particular speed of the solvents
used in the experiment depended upon the properties, being polar or nonpolar, as well as the properties
of the prepared column (INSERT SOURCE HERE). With column chromatography, there are two
phases that include mobile and stationary phases. In the experiment performed, the glass column used
was first packed with a piece of cotton followed by a layer of sand in order to keep the silica gel in
place and also to prevent the gel from flowing out of the tube when the particular solvent was added.

Analysis Of Vladimir Nabokov s Short Stories
Abstract
Vladimir Nabokov s short stories featured are Signs and Symbols, Bachmann and Terra Incognita.
Signs and Symbols focuses on a young boy institutionalized with a morbid paranoia of the outside
world and the impact this has on his elderly parents. Bachmann is about a genius composer whose
only source of affection is of Madame Perov, whose infatuation is seen in her constant attendance of
his piano recitals. Terra Incognito s main character Valliére and his companions are losing their minds
and lives to strange hallucigenic fever in a remote country in the fictional country of Zonraki. Strong
aspects of all three short stories focus on the alienation of each of the protagonists and the cause of
this, either due to madness, great creativity or delusion. This link is forged between the three, which
would have not been as obvious. To attempt to show this association, the following question arose,
which is:
The alienated person is out of touch with himself as he is out of touch with any person. (Erich Fromm,
1955) How does Nabokov convey alienation of characters well in the short stories Signs and Symbols,
Bachmann and Terra Incognita?
The three short stories, Signs and Symbols, Bachmann and Terra Incognita are going to be examined.
Nabokov is interested in people who are forcefully marginalized by society due to their imaginations.
He depicts them using a number of writer s tools such as the conflict between characters, the opinions

TARGET MARKETING: Market Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning
Introduction
1. To succeed in today s competitive marketplace, companies must be customer centered, wining
customers from competitors and keeping them by delivering greater value. a. Sound marketing
requires a careful, deliberate analysis of consumers. b. Since companies cannot satisfy all consumers
in a given market, they must divide up the total market (market segmentation), choose the best
segments (market targeting), and design strategies for profitably serving chosen segments better than
the competition (market positioning). 2. Market segmentation is the process of dividing a market into
distinct groups of buyers with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Niche Marketing
A niche is a more narrowly defined group, subgroups within segments. a. Niches are usually smaller
and normally attract only one or a few competitors. b. Small companies can focus their resources
when they are use niche marketing. c. In many markets today, niches are the norm.
Micro Marketing
The practice of tailoring products and marketing programs to suit the tastes of specific individuals and
locations. a. Local marketing involves tailoring brands and promotions to the needs and wants of local
customer groups (such as cities or neighbourhoods). This approach can drive up costs. b. In the
extreme, micro marketing becomes individual marketing. This process tailors products and marketing
programs to the needs and preferences of individual customers.
Bases for Segmenting Markets
There is no best way to segment a market. Since markets of buyers differ in one or more ways, any of
a variety of variables can be used to segment market.
1. Geographic segmentation
Dividing the market into different geographical units such as nations, states, regions, cities or
neighbourhoods.
2. Demographic segmentation
Dividing the market into groups into groups based on variables like age, sex, family size, family life
cycle, income, occupation, education, religion, race, and nationality. * Demographic factors are the
most popular bases for segmenting customer groups * The popularity of the method is due to the

Great Art Will Be A Transparent Reflection Of Society
Great art will always be a transparent reflection of the society in which it was produced. The greatest
artists are able to blend cultures and practices into a single work, creating an aesthetic dialogue that
challenges viewers to look at the piece with multiple perspectives and creates the opportunity for
continuous discovery upon subsequent visits. On the first floor of the new Broad Museum, in
Downtown Los Angeles, there is a piece of art executed by the prolific Japanese artist, Takashi
Murakami, which does just this. In a room that is solely dedicated to the work of Murakami, there is a
piece that seems to stand out more than the rest.

Through the use of his famous superflat technique , Murakami removes all texture and physical depth
from the painting creating a body of work that feels seamlessly absent of human involvement. There is
no physical trace of texture or brush stroke, the paint has the appearance of being printed onto the
canvas. Additionally, through this technique, Murakami is able to compress characteristics of digital
design, high and low arts, pop culture, and historical culture all into one piece. As one begins to
analyze what is taking place on the canvas, this becomes more evident.
As one walks around the first floor gallery and gazes at this work by Murakami which spans two walls

fish, boats, geishas and more. The entire stretch of the nearly eighty two foot long canvas seems to be

Comment On Humanistic School Of Psychology
Comment on humanistic school of psychology.
Humanistic school of psychology gained importance in midst of 20th century. The limitations of
Sigmund Freud s psycho analytic theory and B.F Skinner s behaviourism formed the basis of
Humanistic school of psychology .
Humanistic psychologists start from the conclusion that every person has their own unique way of
understanding the world and that the things they do only make sense in this way. Consequently, the
kinds of questions they ask about people differ from those asked by psychologists from other
approaches. Whereas other approaches take an objective view of people, in essence asking about

The Techniques Used By Emergency Medical Services
Introduction
The topic proposed for research is to discuss and compare the techniques used by emergency medical
services to fully immobilise a patient with suspected spinal injuries with two highly debatable
methods, Spine Immobilisation and Spinal Motion Restriction (SMR). The research collected will
determine the safest and most practical technique, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the
two.
Discussion
Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine after injury, which
will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord, surrounding tissue and vital
organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can be described as being the preferred practice
amongst emergency medical practitioners. Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the spine in
anatomic alignment and reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. (Physicians, 2015)
Spinal immobilisation is considered for utilization for two specific patient groups: (1) unconscious
injury victims and (2) any patient with a motion injury. These two specific groups lead to the
perception that these patients have a possible spinal injury and immobilisation is required.
(M.J.Sanders, 2010) Applying clear, clinical guidelines for evaluating a possible spinal injury in a
patient can support the accuracy of pre hospital assessment. The following signs and symptoms may
assist in the decision of full spinal immobilisation:

Problems with German Reunification Essays
Problems with German Reunification
Following the Second World War, Germany was rebuilt out of practically nothing into one of the
richest countries of the world. This well known transformation is known as the Wirtschaftswunder
(wonder of economics). Yet in the recent reunification of West and East Germany, German leadership
has ignored crucial lessons from this successful period of transformation. Three problems highlight
this claim:
1. Reunification promised to quickly alleviate forty years of East German Socialism by means of tax
money: Prior to and especially during the November 1990 reunification election, political parties and
government leaders all agreed that East Germany could be raised to the West German standard of ...

For the most part, the German government instead sends billions of Deutschmarks to the former GDR
and promises wealth without hard work, since hard work is so unpopular. This attitude is reflected in a
common jest concerning a former GDR citizen who, after reunification, starts to work at the Mercedes
assembly line but at 10:00 am complains to his co worker: I am tired. We are already over the time,
and the material usually runs out.
2. Reunification promised to bring social freedom by ignoring the crimes of former Socialist party
leaders: In the Entnazifizierung following World War II, thousands of Nazi criminals were brought to
American and, later, German law courts. Not all Nazi criminals were found or sentenced, but justice
became a part of the common mentality, and former Nazis remained silently powerless for fear that
common citizens could take them before the courts.
In contrast, the German government has not attempted to restore this sort of criminal justice in the
former GDR. Thousands of the leading members of the SED (the East German Socialist party) are
criminals even by old GDR standards, but, as of yet, German citizens are not bringing lawsuits against
such criminals like they did following World War II. Most former GDR citizens fear to talk

An Analysis Of Shakespeare s Henry IV
Centralizing a political theme of this whole saga is the consolidation of the country under the authority
of the monarch, fighting with feudal lords, enemies and the deceitful behaviors displayed.
Shakespeare tried to convey truthfully what is proclaimed to be war, and the personalities of others,
but a significant part of the latter consisted polemical writings exposed the machinations of
reactionary feudal lords and kings to chant. Consequently, this primarily explains the fact of what
Shakespeare idealized in Henry IV. Shakespeare described deviations from historical truth, but they
were not conscious of Shakespeare. An exception is the Shakespeare s desire to reduce the duration, to

Intensive Individual and Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
This article highlights the experience of a 46 year old woman with obsessive compulsive disorder, and
how adding cognitive behavioral therapy to her treatment benefits her. Obsessive compulsive disorder
is a disorder which affects approximately 2 to 3 percent of the population (Salkovskis, 2007) (Taylor
Reeder, 2015). Cognitive behavioral therapy is a method of treatment recommended by the National
Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, with the results proving to be effective ( Abramowitz,
Foa, Franklin, 2003; Anderson Rees, 2007; Department of Health, 2001; NICE, 2006; Storch et al.,
2008) (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Likewise, group cognitive behavioral therapy is a proven effective
treatment for OCD, with similar results shown from individual cognitive behavioral therapy
(Hougaard, 2009) (Anderson Rees, 2007) (Taylor Reeder, 2015).
The participant completed a questionnaire prior to treatment, and then again upon commencement of
treatment (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Ultimately she completed a total of 18 hours of therapy over the
course of four weeks (Taylor Reeder, 2015). During the course of treatment, the participant did
indicate improvements in her OCD and anxiety. However, her improvements did tend to fluctuate over
the course of treatment (Taylor Reeder, 2015).

Abstract
Thousands of people around the world suffer from injuries everyday which requires removal or
reinforcements of the damaged tissues through surgical procedures. Tissue engineering, especially
scaffolds have a major role to play in such situations. Scaffolds, a porous cross linked structure aims at
the regeneration of the damaged tissue by supporting the cells mechanically while not altering the
normal functioning of the cell and the individual as whole. Scaffolds are generally made of synthetic
biocompatible polymers. But such scaffolds are generally expensive and may take longer time to
decompose inside our body. So we looked for autologous biomaterials which have the desirable
properties and can be used in place of the polymers. The autologous biomaterials will also be cheaper
and decompose faster compared to the polymers. In this report, I have mentioned three such
autologous biomaterials; albumin, collagen and B.mori silk fibroins, which are easily available and
possesses the desired properties to manufacture scaffolds from them. I manufactured scaffolds by the
process of electrospinning and tested the porosity and swelling of the scaffolds.

Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground tunnels need to
build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were
installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean
(Wilkinson 2011, 3).
Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over
years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural
drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). In case of the project, this happens through the outfall which is

The opposite is called neap tide and occurs when sun and moon are at right angles. The gravitational

7.4 Rocky shore
These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise and fall of tides,
wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and
pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found.
Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in
diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17).
The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or lichens can be found
there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide mark and therefore perpetually out of water
(Little 2009, 18).
The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined as distance
between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle and upper shore are included into
this zone and there is a varying degree of exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms
living there must be able to cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus
spiralis are found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18).

Legend Of The Ghost Dog Analysis
The novel Legend of the Ghost Dog , written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, is a thriller and mystery tale
about a young girl named Anita (although is known as Tee throughout the book), on an expedition she
attended to a small cabin located in the Alaska wilderness, in the town of Nome, with her father and
her younger brother Jack, and another young girl that she befriended named Quin. This adventure
starts from not Tee s perspective, but from an older woman named Dodie about her childhood raising
Siberian Huskies with her family, these chapters would consistently reoccur in the novel. The legend
began as just a silly yet spine tingling fable of a dark looming creature known as the Shadow that lived
deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her
little brother and her father were residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow
that turned out to just be a dog, a jet black Husky with pale blue eyes with a strong broad body,
discovered by the two young girls after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and
Jack s Mother was in Japan for two weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went
with their dad, a writer, who was on the hunt for a story about how the relationship between dogs and
man have become less and less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were

Carlos Fuentes Aura is about a man named Felipe Montero who gets hired by an elderly woman

he is introduced to Sra. Llorente s niece, Aura, and instantly falls in love with her. As the story goes

How Is The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
Set on an African Safari in the early 1900s, Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life of Francis
Macomber tells the story of a young man and wife, Francis and Margot Macomber, and their English
guide, Robert Wilson, on a hunting trip gone awry. This essay will show how Hemingway s character
tied into the story itself.
Francis Macomber is described as very tall, very well built... and considered handsome (Hemingway).
He and his wife, Margot, clearly do not have a very healthy relationship, and on various occasions she
flirts heavily with Wilson. This story is quite ironic, as in the title it says Francis Macomber s life was
happy, though throughout the story you can see that it very much isn t. He seems to be miserable in his
relationship with his wife but as later on stated, Margot was too beautiful for Macomber to divorce,
and Macomber had too much money for Margot to ever leave him (Hemingway). On the topic of

the years go by since his rejection by Fermina, he finds himself in a web of love affairs with women

finally be with Fermina, he never marries or has children. The scars of losing his first and only love
makes it impossible for Florentino to ever settle down, get married, have a family, or even a stable job.
In comparison, David Lambert, the main character of the novel A Scientific Romance , also fails to
progress in life after the loss of his true love. David s life seems to deteriorate when he loses his lover
Anita. He later spends years searching for her around the globe. It becomes clear that David has never
moved on from loving Anita as he says, ... sail back to Anita, to my parents; restore truncated lives,
rebuild my own. (Wright 62). His only hope to ever return to being happy will only happen if he can
go to the past and be with Anita and his family. David, much like Florentino, spends his life consumed
with thoughts of Anita. He never marries or has children and lives life lonely and miserable. The loss
of both Florentino and David s only true loves prevent them from developing as individuals.

No Good And Nobody Is All Evil
Nobody is all good and nobody is all evil. Throughout all history, whether it be in the United States or
somewhere else in the world, there has always been people who are infamous for unspeakable crimes
or for their tremendous acts of bravery. There has always been people who have seemed to be the
literal definition of good and evil and have always been made out like they were exactly that:
completely good or completely evil. It s easy to label a person like that, to ignore any of their other
actions that may contradict what the world knows them as, but that s the thing about labels; nobody
can truly fit completely under them. Even someone like Adolf Hitler was once upon a time an okay
person before he was completely driven by fear and bitterness to the point he actually attempted to
wipe out an entire group of people. The question is, if a person s actions were courageous or wicked
enough, should they only be defined by those actions? Someone like Nathan Bedford Forrest, who
was a racist his whole life, someone who was involved in the trading of slaves and even joined the Ku
Klux Klan after the war because he was so bitter about the defeat of the Confederacy; should he be
defined by only these hateful actions? The answer depends: because while no one is completely good
or completely evil like Adolf Hitler, Forrest believed that one group of people was superior to another;
and instead of silently hating, Forrest decided to take action and help fight for a cause that went

numerous amount of people roaming the streets. This issue has been affecting the city of Anaheim for
many years and now it s reaching a boiling point. Within the next couple years, the new hotel
construction plans near Disneyland are scheduled to be built. The new hotels will impact an already
crowded area and increase the traffic. The main reason for the new hotels is to attract more tourists,
ultimately gaining profit off of them. The city of Anaheim should not allow new hotels near
Disneyland to be built. Instead, they can utilize the newly built transportation center to gain profit
from the tourist. In the article Disneyland area getting 14 new hotels, Sarah Tully discusses the
reasons for the new hotels. The construction plans show that the hotels are being placed within 3 miles
from Disneyland to remain in close to the tourism center near Disney. Mostly all are being place along
Harbor Boulevard and are within a couple 100 feet from each other. Also, the hotels are going to be

to the party without an invitation. Romeo falls in love from the first time when he saw Juliet. Tybalt
saw him and he tries to fight Romeo because he wants to bring the honor for his family, Another

for his best friend. Again, this shows Romeo kills Tybalt to get the revenge for Mercutio. That caused

not true since Romeo is old enough to take care of himself and even if he didn t sleep that well
because of him thinking about Juliet he still can control himself. Second In the tragedy of Romeo and
Juliet, people are blaming The Capulet parent because they were not showing that they really care
about their daughter and how she feel and the right for her. For example, her father uses despicable and

  • 2. Differences Between Seals And Walruses In contrast to whales, seals and walruses have remained heavily furred marine mammals. There are several differences that make the retention of fur an adaptive trait in seals and walruses. These advantages can be divided into three categories; life aspects, evolutionary descent, diving differences. The first among these are their life aspects. Seals and walruses spend much of their time in the water foraging however; land is required for the birthing and rearing of their young. In addition to this seals are one of the few species in which the female receives no help in raising their young. The female is the sole provider of food for herself and the infant meaning she must leave the infant alone on the surface while she hunts. Young seals remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whales are descended from large hoofed predators called mesonychids in the Pakistan area. While seals and walruses descended from a bear like ancestor, the ursoids. (Rybczynski, Dawson, and Tedford 2009) In addition the carnivores and ungulates had long since separated before the convergent evolution that lead to whales, seals and walruses to move back to the ocean. (Prothero 2014) The predatory nature of carnivore that leads them to hunt their prey may also play a part in differentiating these mammals. They hunt animals that may live in the sea or on land such as the penguin and must be adapted as such to follow their prey from sea to land in order to catch it. During the evolution of these animals hair was lost in the whales but retained in the seals and walruses another reason this may have happened is because some seals and walruses eat the mussels, clams and other bivalves that live on the ocean floor. Hair in the form of whiskers or vibrissae that is present in seals and walruses serves a mechanoreception role. They assist in finding food such as mussels and clams on the ocean floor. These vibrissae have a sensitive innervated sinus area that allows the vibrissae to be used as a sensory organ rather than for thermoregulation as the rest of the body fur is used. It may be that the body fur remains because of these vibrissae. The origins of this belief probably relapse into two distinctive features of the US economy, the development of private ownership of capital, combined with a relatively small business, public sector and the absence of a strong centralized economic planning. The reason I am convinced that usage of proper English creates clearer communication is because of my experience in the business world. Through schooling I have learned how to speak and write better and use words that pertain to the business I practiced. I have worked in the teaching profession and have experienced what happens when a parent does not have a clear idea of the educational goals the teach and school has for their child, or the overall goals that the particular school holds as valuable. I taught in a Montessori School and Montessori has a particular educational model that each school follows to a certain degree. It is the owner s prerogative to determine how closely they follow the Montessori Method. Therefore, as a parent there are several things to be concerned with. 1.) Thin Layer Chromatography And Column Chromatography Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography By Maggi Shelton Under the Supervision of Dr. Mills Chavonda The Department of Chemistry and Physics Milledgeville, GA 31061 Abstract: Thin layer chromatography and column chromatography are two different methods that allow for the separation of two miscible solvents. Through column chromatography, a mixture of nonpolar fluorine and polar fluorenone was successfully separated. Thin layer chromatography was then used in order to determine the success of the separation based upon the calculated Rf values, which if the Rf value fell below zero or was above one, then the separation was not successful. Introduction: Methods used to separate miscible solvents include thin layer chromatography (TLC) as well as column chromatography. A method used to separate a mixture of miscible solvents is column chromatography, which is used to purify and separate compounds. The particular speed of the solvents used in the experiment depended upon the properties, being polar or nonpolar, as well as the properties of the prepared column (INSERT SOURCE HERE). With column chromatography, there are two phases that include mobile and stationary phases. In the experiment performed, the glass column used was first packed with a piece of cotton followed by a layer of sand in order to keep the silica gel in place and also to prevent the gel from flowing out of the tube when the particular solvent was added. Strong aspects of all three short stories focus on the alienation of each of the protagonists and the cause of this, either due to madness, great creativity or delusion. This link is forged between the three, which would have not been as obvious. To attempt to show this association, the following question arose, which is: The alienated person is out of touch with himself as he is out of touch with any person. The research collected will determine the safest and most practical technique, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two. Discussion Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine after injury, which will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord, surrounding tissue and vital organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can be described as being the preferred practice amongst emergency medical practitioners. Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the spine in anatomic alignment and reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. Literature Review Intensive Individual and Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder This article highlights the experience of a 46 year old woman with obsessive compulsive disorder, and how adding cognitive behavioral therapy to her treatment benefits her. Obsessive compulsive disorder is a disorder which affects approximately 2 to 3 percent of the population (Salkovskis, 2007) (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Cognitive behavioral therapy is a method of treatment recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, with the results proving to be effective ( Abramowitz, Foa, Franklin, 2003; Anderson Rees, 2007; Department of Health, 2001; NICE, 2006; Storch et al., 2008) (Taylor Reeder, 2015). Test Material And Its Effects On The Human Body TEST MATERIAL SUBMITTED BY Anuron Deka A1218311004 B.Tech 8th Sem Abstract Thousands of people around the world suffer from injuries everyday which requires removal or reinforcements of the damaged tissues through surgical procedures. Tissue engineering, especially scaffolds have a major role to play in such situations. Scaffolds, a porous cross linked structure aims at the regeneration of the damaged tissue by supporting the cells mechanically while not altering the normal functioning of the cell and the individual as whole. Scaffolds are generally made of synthetic biocompatible polymers. But such scaffolds are generally expensive and may take longer time to decompose inside our body. So we looked for autologous biomaterials which have the desirable properties and can be used in place of the polymers. The autologous biomaterials will also be cheaper and decompose faster compared to the polymers. In this report, I have mentioned three such autologous biomaterials; albumin, collagen and B.mori silk fibroins, which are easily available and possesses the desired properties to manufacture scaffolds from them. I manufactured scaffolds by the process of electrospinning and tested the porosity and swelling of the scaffolds. Introduction Tissue engineering is a field where scientists try to repair or regenerate damaged tissues or cells with the help of artificial materials. In layman s term, tissue engineering can be defined as an interdisciplinary field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Throughout all history, whether it be in the United States or somewhere else in the world, there has always been people who are infamous for unspeakable crimes or for their tremendous acts of bravery. There has always been people who have seemed to be the literal definition of good and evil and have always been made out like they were exactly that: completely good or completely evil. It s easy to label a person like that, to ignore any of their other actions that may contradict what the world knows them as, but that s the thing about labels; nobody can truly fit completely under them. Even someone like Adolf Hitler was once upon a time an okay person before he was completely driven by fear and bitterness to the point he actually attempted to wipe out an entire group of people. The question is, if a person s actions were courageous or wicked enough, should they only be defined by those actions? Someone like Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was a racist his whole life, someone who was involved in the trading of slaves and even joined the Ku Klux Klan after the war because he was so bitter about the defeat of the Confederacy; should he be defined by only these hateful actions? Throughout history, critics have debated who was most culpable in the death of Romeo and Juliet. Some have blamed characters who acted from position of authority. Romeo and Capulet parents are the ones to blame for the death of the young lovers. First In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet people are blaming Romeo because he was one of the reasons that made Juliet want to kill herself. Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party but his presence there fuels Tybalt s challenge to him the next day. However, some people believe this is incorrect because the article the team brain also states inadequate sleep in a powerful contributor to instability and depression.
