Chapter 22 The Hindu Rite Of Entry Into Heaven
Hindu death rites Chinese death rites In Chapter 22, The Hindu Rite of Entry into Heaven , Knipe
discusses the Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa after the death in Hinduism which is continuing elaboration in two
thousands years. In ancient Hinduism, fire is believes to be the way to transfer to God. Via cremation,
considered as a sacrifice act, one can transforming from preta ( ghost ) to pitṛ (father) and enter the
world of ancestors pitṛs. After the cremation, the ashes will be thrown to the Ganges or other river in
medieval and modern rites since water is the second transfer medium. If the death rite of the deceased
isn t operate properly, the deceased will become ghost and will do harm to the whole family among six
generation. By sacrifices, one is believed to feed gods and ancestors and can re energize universe. This
homology thoughts are same as Zoroastrianism where deceased go to the cosmic. However, while
Hinduism believes in karma, Zoroastrianism sees souls are more trapped in soma. In Hinduism old
belief, the transmigration(Saṃsāra) is operative and rebirth in a new body from the heaven(the
Fathers) which is associate with the lunar cycle is really easy(Brhadaranyaka upanisad 4.4.3 4). Later
believes that preta need to travel a long journey to World of the Fathers and gradual construct an
ancestral body. During the preta s journey, family need to offer Piṇḍas (rice ball) to feed the preta and
giving away a bull to help the preta across the Vaitarani River. Plus, there are

Overt And Covert Facial Recognition Essay
Facial recognition involves the identification of individuals through the use of their facial features and,
or expressions (MS, 2017). The model of facial recognition seeks to discover exactly how the brain is
able to recognize facial features both consciously and unconsciously (Schweinberger Burton, 2003).
The following set of experiments seeks to study overt and covert facial recognition (Schweinberger
Burton, 2003). Covert facial recognition is the unconscious recognition of familiar faces (Maureen,
2016). Whereas, overt facial recognition involves conscious facial recognition (Maureen, 2016). There
are many considerable methods used by researchers to examine the process of covert and, or overt
facial recognition (Schweinberger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each study discussed above examines the model of facial recognition and its relation to overt and
covert recognition. Covert facial recognition is the unconscious recognition of familiar faces
(Maureen, 2016). Whereas, overt facial recognition is the conscious recognition (Maureen, 2016).
There has been a vast amount of research on the topic in an attempt to discover exactly how the
recognition of facial features/expressions take place in the brain and how it can be linked to certain
neurological disorders. Overall, results from each study examined tend to suggest that overt and covert
facial recognition share the same area of the brain. Research by Farah and colleagues did not support
this idea however, they do not deny it either. Rather, they suggest the possibility of separate forms of
prosopagnosia, one causing damage to both overt and covert facial recognition while the other(s)
cause damage to only one of the functions. This study, however, is also much older than the others
examined which could be a result of lack of information that overtime was learned by others. The
majority of research suggests that damage to overt facial recognition will in time result in damage to
covert facial recognition. Thus meaning if one is damaged it is only a matter of time before the other
starts to suffer. However, with it not being the case one hundred percent of the time it would not be
fair to assume that and ignore opposing research. There are many different ideas and findings on the
subject and hopefully with time researchers will be able to learn whether or not the damage of one
area guarantees the damage of the

Causes Of Recidivism
In Today s society former offenders are reverting back to criminal activity, leading to a reoccurring
issue within the U.S. criminal justice system. These former offenders are reentering society with little
or no progress after prison. Recidivism Law and Legal Definition (N.d.) defines the term recidivism as
the tendency to lapse into a previous pattern of behavior, especially a pattern of criminal habits.
Specifically, to rearrests, reconviction, or reincarnate former inmates. Currently, there is no single
cause for recidivism. However, a few explanations for recidivism may include, the lack of education,
inability to obtain employment, and psychological dysfunctions inherited during incarceration.
Education provides access to economic and social success in any field of life. Commonly, inmate s
ender prison with very low skill levels. So forth, official statistics show over fifty percent of both male
and female offenders do not have any educational skills. In Today s Society education and
incarceration inevitably cycle back to one another. For instance, in neighborhoods in towns that spend
millions of dollars to lock up residents, the education department suffers more. Hence, zip codes to
high rates of incarceration can be linked to low performing schools. Thus, poor communities suffer the
most, leading to poor education systems in the community. Specifically, Hawkins (2010) reports sixty
eight percent of the Los Angeles high performing schools are in neighborhoods with

The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence
Although there are many threats and worries with Artificial Intelligence there are also many benefits
that can outweigh the negatives. Our society is already experiencing this technology in vehicles that
have auto sensing and braking capabilities. Another really intriguing feature of AI would be faster and
more accurate web searches. I believe being able to provide information instantly will further improve
lives and the business world, since time is money. Today we call artificial intelligence narrow artificial
intelligence which means artificial intelligence that is weak. Google is an example of narrow artificial
intelligence that we use every day. Other examples of narrow artificial intelligence include ATMs and
touchless car washes, they are designed to execute a set of tasks. Whereas AI can learn set tasks and
create new tasks based on its intuition and ability to think and problem solve for itself. What s in store
for Artificial intelligence within the next 5 years (believe me a lot can happen with technology in 5
years)? 3 D printers, IOT (internet of things), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) are
taking the spotlight light currently. These technologies will exponentially improve and become more
commonplace in the business world then expand into the consumer market once businesses have
improved their capabilities as a pioneer in the technologies. One can expect 3 D printers to be able to
print everything from cars/trucks to tissue cells for

names Colin gave them, such as Violet, Poppy, Rose, and Summer as Lily, that was how they knew
they were going to be able to take care of themselves, because if they called each other those names,
he would bring them down food. For example, on page 229, Summer explains, I woke up to Violet
whimpering and crying in pain from when Colin had hit her. In about a half an hour I will change her
bandages and give her half of a pain pill. In other words, Summer is showing that she is caretaking
because she was taking care of Violet by changing her bandages and giving her medicine when she
needed it. Another example of the caretaking is on page 184, Summer say s I was putting out a damp

Best Places In California
Best Places in California to go Kayaking California is a beautiful state that is lined with outstanding
beaches. There are rivers and there are lakes as well. It is a kayaker s dream come true. However, not
many people really consider California to be such a great place for kayaking. Therefore, we are going
to tell you about some of the best places in California to go kayaking based on which area of this state
you are visiting. Northern California When in Northern California, you may want to visit tranquil
lakes such as Gold Lake, Lake Clementine, or Lake Almanor. If you visit during the wrong time of
day you may have to deal with winds, but overall, it is a great place to enjoy life from a kayak. To visit

Anything you hope to find can be found in an area close by. The same can be said for kayaking
adventures whether you want to relax or experience challenges. Are you ready to escape the city life?
If you are ready to escape the city, the LA river is a great place to go kayaking if you want to see the
wildlife that calls it home. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle, even while kayaking, you may enjoy
visiting the Marina del Rey, California s busiest harbor. You simply have to watch out for boats. Relax
and enjoy seeing dolphins and other aquatic animals in Long Beach s Alamitos Bay. If you do not own
a kayak, you can still take advantage of this area thanks to kayak rentals. Another very popular area
for sea life viewing is the Channel Islands. However, when you venture here, you should definitely not
be a beginner in the world of kayaking because the conditions of the water can change rapidly from
calm to rough. If natural wonders appeal to your senses, you can visit La Jolla where there are
amazing cliffs that offer some truly unexpected beauty. It is where pirates once hid and sharks or sea
lions can be seen. There are rental kayaks available for you as well as guided tours of the Seven

Economics and Change
Economics and Change Dimensions of Professional Practice 08/02/2015 Economics and Change
Introduction Health care in America is at the center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid
changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds
created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of
bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America
has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in
many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries
(Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government
healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all
types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only
for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of
American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value
Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is
deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people
could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in
the best self interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and
discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that
would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of
what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself
costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon
can be used up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Six procedures could be done with one
balloon that costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will

AAnalysis On The Executive s Management
The two CEO s we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what we can
only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of the CEO for
the e mail, we don t get a lot of background on the company they are running like we do with SAS. It
doesn t tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much about the
company perks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it s direct effect to company
production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO s management style just from this message.
First of all, this is an e mail. We don t know the meetings that have been called to address this issue
prior to this, but by sending this in an e mail he is making it very impersonal. The CEO here isn t
showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. They are also
very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate Center and the Stock
Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement.
The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his
company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in staff
will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not. This will
most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that something does need
to be done to

Pardoners Tale, Chaucer, Canterbury Essays
The Pardoner s Subconscious Character
quot; The Pardoner s Tale, quot; by Geoffrey Chaucer, makes evident the parallel between the internal
emotions of people and the subconscious exposure of those emotions. This particular story, from The
Canterbury Tales, is a revealing tale being told by a medieval pardoner to his companions on a journey
to Canterbury. Though the Pardoner s profession is to pardon and absolve the sins of people, he
actually lives in constant violation of sins such as gluttony, gambling, and, most importantly, avarice.
The Pardoner does feel guilt and advocates not to commit avarice; he exclaims, quot; Radix malorum
est Cupiditas, quot; (line 426) as his theme more than once. Because he ... Show more content on

The old man is the guide to spiritual and physical death, as is easily seen by the deaths of the three
rioters. Thus, the old man looks of death: quot;Lo how I vanysshe, flessh, and blood, and skyn! quot;
(Line 732). On the other hand, the Pardoner s profession is to absolve sinners and steer them towards
life; he guides people to spiritual and even physical life! Therefore, he personifies all that is pure and
innocent, such as a youthful and innocent boy. Both, with this physical aid, do good jobs of preaching
to people to get their desired results.
The eager minds of the people and the skill of the two preachers are what lead the people to either life
or death. It is obvious that the Pardoner does not actually use sacred relics to cure anything:
quot;Relikes been they, as wenen they echoon / Thanne have I in latoun a sholder boon / Which that
was of an hooly Jewes sheep. quot; (Lines 349 51). He has actually quot;cured quot; those who come
to him seeking salvation and pardon. This mindset, with the addition of the Pardoner s great skill in
making himself sound so innocent and pure, is what actually cures the people. The people just need
something tangible, like the fake relics, to hold on to and believe in to be quot;cured quot;. Again, the
same is true for the old man. The three rioters that come to him are already in search of and eager to
find Death, as opposed to life or salvation. When the old man points them in the right

Why Telecommuting Is Becoming A Popular Subject
Abstract
This paper will begin with the subject of telecommuting and how it is evolving in today s workplace.
The research will help identify why telecommuting is becoming a popular subject and why it is
desired for both employees and employers. Also to understand the differences of working in an office
environment or telecommuting and what the outcomes may be. If employers and employees fail to
have awareness of the challenges that come with telecommuting it can be damaging. Understanding
the challenges to help employers identify if telecommuting is beneficial or negative for their

More employees are converting to telecommuting due to a variety of reasons. The current business
paradigm shift recognizes that space and time no longer contractually define the mode and nature of
work. Workers do not have to go to where the work is instead, work is now sent to where the workers
are in homes, satellite offices, and neighborhood work centers, (Nyaanga, 2012). Author Solomon
makes a valid point in his article since many people do not want to do the daily commute five to six
days a week. Not only does it waste actual work time, money for transportation, but also the
convenience capabilities for employees. The convenience certainly applies to employees who do not
live close to the office setting or live in a very populated area with heavy traffic.
Telecommuting Advantages
For over 30 years, the workplace has undergone a series of transformations such as the integration of
technology into business work design, product innovation, development, processes, performance,
delivery, productivity, creativity, competitiveness, and worker flexibility, (Nyaanga, 2012). Having the
technology accessible to the Intel of employee s homes enables more employees to have the

Milton Friedman, An American Economist
When most of us think of the words opportunity cost, price, production, and service, we think of
something related to obtaining or giving something. According to Merriam Webster, opportunity cost
is defined as, the added cost of using resources (as for production or speculative investment) that is the
difference between the actual value resulting from such use and that of an alternative (as another use
of the same resources or an investment of equal risk but greater return). Price, is defined as the amount
of money that you pay for something or that something costs. Production, is defined as the process of
making or growing something for sale or use, and lastly, service, is defined as, the occupation or
function of serving. Milton Friedman, an American economist, would say, nothing in live is free, that
is, if you want something, you have to give something. These four words can all be tied together and
used to give and receive. We can either use it to our benefit or simply perform it. We could get the
most out of life using these four words, opportunity cost, price, production, and service, by primary
accepting that everything in life is obtained at a cost, acknowledging that they can be used as forward
looking concepts, and agreeing to do everything yourself instead of hiring someone to do it in your
place. Multiple people simply cannot accept the fact that everything obtained in life comes at a cost.
Whether it be monetary or emotional even, you will have to give up

National Park Service History
In the words of the iconic Ron Swanson, from the hit show series Parks and Recreation, the national
parks service is probably the only branch of government worth a damn. All thanks to the work of
several individuals, backed by an entire government, this national treasure will soon celebrate its one
hundredth birthday. The idea of the National Parks Service was first conceptualized in 1872 when
Congress established what is now Yellowstone National Park as a public park or pleasuring ground for
the benefit and enjoyment of the people. under the Act of March 1, 1872. The notion began years
before with some of the first European settlers that were captivated by the beauty and worked to
protect it. Since then, the system has grown to include natural, historic, and recreation areas in every
region. However, it wasn t until August 25, 1916 that the parks service was made official with the

Essay about Breast Cancer Diagnosis Methods Analysis
Abstract: Breast cancer research over the last decade has been tremendous and the novel methods
being develop help in the early detection, in setting the stages of the therapy and in assessing the
response of the patient to the treatment. Some of the studies look very promising and their use in
future may decrease the radiation dose to the patient. This paper studies various techniques used for
the diagnosis of breast cancer. Different methods are explored for their merits and de merits for the
diagnosis of breast lesion. It was found that the recent use of the combination of Artificial Neural

II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Mammography is a popular technique but it has its limitations especially in younger women and in
denser breasts. The Computer Aided Diagnosis has been proposed for the medical prognosis [7 9]. The
fuzzy logic and Artificial Neural Network form the basis of the intelligent systems. There are several
instances where the artificial intelligence is used for the diagnosis of the breast cancer. The methods
have included many Artificial Neural Networks architectures such as Convolution Neural Network
[10], Radial Basis Network [11], General Regression Neural Network [11], Probabilistic Neural
Network [11], Resilient Back propagation Neural Network [12], and hybrid with Fuzzy Logic [13]. In
this paper [7] a supervised artificial neural network [14 16] was used to help classify the breast lesions
into malignant and benign classes by processing the computer cytology images. The accuracy of the
trained neural network was found to be 82.21%. The ANN has been established as a robust system for
the diagnosis of breast cancer [18].There is a complex relationship between different biomarkers
which were identified for the diagnosis of this cancer [19], the MLP neural network was simulated for

Compare and Contrast Any Two Theories of Leadership Essay
Compare and contrast any two theories of leadership
In the following essay I will look at leadership, its definition and compare and contrast two theories
behind it. I will firstly see if there is a distinction between leadership and management as suggested by
John
Kotter(1990) who goes on further to stress that organisations require both a leader and a manager but
the function can be provided by a single individual. I will then look at some definitions of leadership
such as that by Bryman(1999), The process of influencing the activities of an organized group in its
efforts toward goal setting and goal attainment . The two leadership theories which I will compare and
contrast are transactional and transformational. I will also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transactional leadership relies on the workers behaviour being influenced by means of reward by the
leader.
There is co dependency between the leader and the worker, one has to offer the other something for a
desired outcome. A real life example of transactional leadership is the use of commission in the sales
industry. Performance to the leader s requirement or expectation is rewarded. This could be seen as
one of the advantages of this type of leadership, that is it provides a clear idea of what is required.
Watch any episode of the BBC television programme The Apprentice and this theory is clearly
demonstrated throughout. The main disadvantage becomes clear, the assumption is everyone is
motivated by monetary rewards and this is simply untrue.
In contrast transformational leadership is the infusion of motivation and inspiration into the workers to
do the work by their leader as suggested by Anita(2008) You have to look at leadership through the
eyes of the followers and you have to live the message. What I have learned is that people become
motivated when you guide them to the source of their own power and when you make heroes out of
employees who personify what you want to see in the organisation. The election campaign that was
run by the now US President,
Barak Obama, was transformational. Obama influenced the voters with his charisma and motivated
them by addressing issues that appealed to them. This highlights

The Effect Of A Clock Reaction On The Reaction Rate Of A...
A clock reaction is a form of chemical reaction where multiple reagents are placed together with no
apparent change after a time lag until a dramatic colour change appears called the induction period
(King, Preece and Billingham, 1999). This abrupt colour change can be due to the limiting reagent
being fully consumed which allows the remaining chemicals to react resulting in a colour change.
Specific kinetic and stoichiometric conditions are required for this standard clock behaviour to occur.
Clock reactions can be highly useful to investigate rates of reaction as the rate of the colour change
may differ due to varying factors.
The reaction rate of a chemical reaction can be defined as the speed in which the reaction occurs. The

Figure 1: Effect of order on the reactant (UCDAVIS 2, 2017)
Typically, the order of a reactant does not go beyond a second order. The greater the order is, the
greater the increase in reaction rate when the reactant is doubled. The sum of the order of reactants for
the experiment is then the order of the overall reaction (UCDAVIS 2, 2017).
The two methods to determine the rate law of a kinetics experiment is by initial rates and by integrated
rate law. To utilise the initial rates method, multiple experiments can be conducted with differing
concentrations and measuring the initial rate for the reactions (Yamauchi, Nord and Schullery, 2016).
From this, the reaction order for the corresponding substance can be calculated and the rate constant
can be found. However, the method of initial rates requires the chemical reaction to be fairly slow and
since several experiments need to be executed, it is not an ideal method.
The integrated rate law method utilises integrated rate laws in comparison with the collected data
relating concentration and time during a kinetics experiment (SparkNotes, 2017). This method finds
the order of the reactant by plotting the time versus a function of the concentration data and using trial
and error with a selected rate law. If the integrated rate law is correct, the data points will appear linear
and if it is not linear then

An Analysis Of Alexandre Dumas Davy De La Pailleterie
Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, the author of The Three Musketeers, was
born in Villers Cotterets, France on July 24, 1802. His father, also named Alexandre Dumas, was a
general in Napoleon s army. When the author was only four years old, his father died, and he and his
two siblings were raised in poverty by his mother, Marie Louise Elizabeth Davy de la Pailleterie. He
went a private school for a short period of time before he started teaching himself and becoming
homeschooled. In 1823, he moved to Paris, where he was able to obtain a comfortable job as a clerk
for the Duke of Orleans. By this time, he had developed passions for the ladies and for the theater
(Alexandre Dumas). After being inspired by watching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost all of his renowned books were collaborations with other writers, primarily Auguste Maquet.
Their works included The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. These novels were
initially broken down into serials in magazines instead of complete books. Because of all his successes
with his novels, the 1840s were the apex of his finances, and he was able to build a luxurious estate.
Although Dumas created some of the best known plays and novels in the world, he suffered from
many setbacks which ultimately led to his death. He created a controversial, yet popular play in 1832
called The Tower of Nesle. The play depicted many of the vices of the preceding king and was
disliked by the new king, Louis Philippe. As a result, the author was exiled from France for a short
period of time. He suffered from bankruptcy from wasting too much money on his estate and giving
lavish gifts to women. He escaped his creditors by fleeing to Brussels. After he returned to Paris, he
worked tirelessly to pay his debts. He created two newspaper companies, which survived about three
years each. Then, he had to retreat to first son s home in 1870 because of the Prussian occupation of
Paris in the Franco Prussian War. He died two years later in poverty and declining spirits on December
fifth at seventy years old (DISCovering Authors).

Illegal Immigration And Illegal Immigrants
Abstract
Throughout the years there has been and increasing number of illegal immigrants in this country. Just
recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge
though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in
the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing
lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas
found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S
economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal
immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due
to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the
problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits
outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by
a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers
and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this
hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal
immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty.

Determination, Discipline, And Dedication
Determination, discipline, and dedication are the three keys to Doctor Sampson (Sam) Davis success.
Growing up in the streets of Newark was not easy for any child, pre teen, teen, and adult, especially
for Davis but with the three D s to success he speaks of in The Pact: Three Young Men Make a
Promise and Fulfill a Dream, shows that anyone can succeed when you have friends to help you
through it all. Even though Davis did not have a perfect childhood, determination, dedication and
discipline would help push him. Davis, as a child, has seen what describes a dysfunctional family and
has witnessed many traits of physical, mental, and verbal abuse between his mother and father; Your
daddy ain t shit, and, Your mama ain t shit (Davis 19). In some instances, the violence was so severe
that the use of a firearm or the destruction of property occurred. Davis father would divorce from his
mother but, attempt to be there for his children, yet the divorce still took an emotional toll on the kids.
As for Davis, he would bury his feelings, to get over the divorce. Davis acknowledged his mother
lacked an adequate education, thus, this motivated him to become well educated. However, acquiring
adult responsibilities, such as writing and making bank deposits and reading important documents to
his illiterate was a grand task for a young child. Times were getting harder for Davis family and lack
of funds meant utilities could not be paid; his family would be powerless. Even through

American Embalming Essay
The American funeral industry came to be how it is today in the Civil War, when so many soldiers
died far away from their families and homes and needed to be preserved for long distance travel so
they could be buried on their own land. Nowadays, embalming involves pumping a cocktail of
chemicals, namely formaldehyde, phenol, glutaraldehyde, methanol, and glycerin, through one of the
corpses main arteries to delay the decomposition process. Toxic chemicals from the embalming,
burial, and cremation process leach into the air and soil, and expose funeral workers to potential
hazards. And maintaining the crisp, green memorial plots is extremely land and water use heavy. (Julia
Calderone, Nov. 4, 2015) The cost of this, as well as the cost and ... Show more content on

Formaldehyde and embalming based funerary practices have been shown to be damaging to the
surrounding environment and moreover, the people who work with it on a regular basis. Not to
mention the high costs that the supplies of a traditional burial can end up costing, both for the
consumer and the environment. The amount of embalming fluid in ten acres in a typical cemetery can
reach up to around 80,000 gal. That s 80,000 gallons of toxic chemicals potentially leaking into the
surrounding environment and posing a health risk for humans and animals alike. There are many
better, more environmentally sound ways of disposing of a corpse, like alkaline hydrolysis
[resomation], which is an effective alternative to cremation, and natural burials, which can serve as a
foil for the traditional American burial. Although the traditional burial as we know it dates back to the
Civil War, and we ve got embalming fluid down pretty well, the materials used are still toxic enough
to damage the people who work with embalming fluid, and the environment it ends up buried

Analysis Of Arm Wrestling With My Father By Brad Manning
Is society s effect on a man s relationship with their child so significant that it causes a father to only
love their children physically rather than emotionally ? In Brad Manning s essay Arm Wrestling With
My Father, this is the message that is conveyed to the audience. In his writing, Manning explores the
evolving relationship he has with his father, both physical and emotional, and acknowledges the
gradual changes between them over the years. Through reflection on their father son bond, Manning
highlights the societal expectation of the father to be the dominant figure in the relationship along with
the seemingly innate desire from the son for a father to be this powerful figure. Only when he ages
and the roles begin to change does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this missing attribute, there was always a disconnect between the two just as there are in
many other father son relationships. This lack of emotional connection sticks out in my mind the most,
as my brother and I have both been lucky enough to experience pure love and affection from our
father regardless of the situation. For instance, one personal incident from years ago comes to mind.
My brother Michael, who is now graduated and in college, was always considered to be a nerd in high
school. Although he was a member of the school swim team, academics were always his number one
priority throughout his high school career. I recall one day my parents and Michael coming home from
a swim meet clearly distressed. Earlier that day, a mother of one of my brother s peers had said that
my father didn t love my brother because he wasn t athletic enough, he was only smart. My father,
who is a very outspoken man, responded with a few choice words for the woman and went on with his
day, but my brother remained visibly upset. That night, my parents sat both my brother and I down
and proclaimed that they would always love us no matter the situation, or any of our strengths and
weaknesses their love was unconditional. Although the situation meant nothing to me at the time,
years later it is so special. My father was always a significant part of my brother and I s childhood,

The Disrespects Of Standing Up For Hawaiian Culture
We wouldnʻt disrespect our Kupuna by standing for the very song that took away their land and all
their mana, Kaʻipu Baker explained. Although some people think standing up for our ancestors is
disrespectful there is the reason to why we stand up for them. Think about it, would you stand up for
your own culture if someone took it away from you? That is exactly what Winona Beamer, Graduates
from Kamehameha Kapālama schools and Eddie Pu decided to do. Even though there are many
disagreements towards us as Hawaiians. Being a Hawaiian means standing up for your culture and our

Standing up for Hawaiian Culture is not easy but a lady named Winona Beamer did what she thought
was right when she felt her culture got ripped away from her. Winona decided to Chant in front of her
elders in the school because she knew it wasnʻt right that she couldnʻt chant or speak Hawaiian in a
Hawaiian school. Due to her actions, she was expelled from the school from the principal the next day.
In her words this is how she felt, I wanted to see the will. I begged to see the will. I couldnʻt believe
the princess (Bernice Pauahi Bishop) would say no Hawaiian spoken, no chanting, no dancing. I
couldnʻt believe a Hawaiian Princess would say that. (pg.99) Winona Beamer. There are many of us

The Maccabees Rebelled Against The Seleucid Empire
From 1000 B.C.E. to 100 C.E. the Jews generally did not have much power. Throughout this time
period the Jews were either attempting to gain power, under someone else s power, or losing their
previously achieved status in power. However, in defining power as military strength, the ability to
maintain distinctiveness from other people, or the ability to shape people s practices and beliefs, the
amount of power the Jews had fluctuated slightly, but mostly remained low.
If power is strictly define by military strength and presence, then the Jews had virtually no power
during this time period. Because the Jews were dominated by various empires they had no opportunity
to build a strong military force. The Jews most notable military events was the Maccabean rebellion.

Paul was a Hebrew born of Hebrews, who lived from 5 C.E. to 67 C.E. and became seen as a Jewish
apostle for the gentiles or non Jews. Paul created a new subtype of Judaism known as Jesus following
Jews. Even though Paul strongly self identified as Jewish, he took it upon himself to spread the ways
of Jesus to non Jews in attempt to save everyone when the world ended. He went on missionary trips
to and from Jerusalem, Cyprus, Galatia, and Ephesus. Paul wrote that There is no longer Jew or

Yabukoji At The Foot Of Atago Analysis
Visual Analysis of Yabukoji at The Foot of Atago The polychrome woodblock print Yabukoji at the

Hiroshige s calligraphy in the top right hand corner clearly suggests the purpose of the woodblock
print to present hundred views of places in Edo. The woodblock print is currently own by in Rhode
Island School of Design Museum and exhibited in the 6th floor of the museum. Created in relatively
small scale (about the size of A4 paper), the print remains fine lien mark and vivid small details that
require one to appreciated the work in a close distance. Based on personal observation, the color,
composition, brush strokes, paper texture, and movement all serve as a whole, creating a form that

My Philosophy Of Leadership Analysis
My philosophy of leadership has changed after taking this course with Dr. Jim Street and Erin Parish. I
would personally consider myself a leader from past positions or actions, although I have expanded
my frame a lot after being in the Leadership and Legacy class. At the beginning of this semester I saw
leadership as a position or skill. I still believe that it is a skill that can be retained, although it is not
based off position but rather actions taken. I did not know the large variety of leadership that is
surrounding me on a daily basis. I have been taught leadership previously by being in student council,

Pigments extracted from different greens have different polarities and may be different colors. Mixed
pigments can be separated using chromatography paper. Chromatography paper is able to separate
mixed pigments due to their polarity and solubility. Pigments of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and beta

which results in different distance traveled up the paper. Beta carotene is non polar so it travels the

Theme Of The Play Everyman
Everyman is a morality play that has been written in the late 15th century. The writer of Everyman has
yet to be known. However, we are informed that monks and priests often wrote this type of drama, the
morality with a catholic message one. In addition we can say that the Everyman we know today is
most likely the result of years over decades of literary evolution. The setting of the play is not
something that can be compared with a realistic setting. But, meanwhile it important to indicate that
the cultural setting is drawn out from the Roman Catholism of that period of time. It was highly
believed during this era that Afterlife was something reachable for everyman that has done no sins on
this life (even if he has ha has confess of them and asked for forgiveness by penance). And in reality
the whole plot of the play, even the involvement of death, revolves in this concept of afterlife.
The message in Everyman is pretty clear: When death falls upon you the only thing of yours that will
have a use before the judgment of Him is your Good deeds. The main theme of the play is death ...

Yes this is mentioned above but it is worth considering that it might be the greatest morality play yet.
The author makes the audience question itself about the abstract things in life such as love, friendship,
retribution. Death here comes in play by bring out all deeds of the person (Everyman) and by making
him face the consequences. This is , of course the Catholic point of view, where after leaving the
mortal body, the person is accompanied in a journey to afterlife alongside Death. There have been
other books where a major role is played by Death ( The book Thief by Markus Zuzak and Paradise
Lost by John Millton) but each of them represents Death as a either to sensitive creature, or a
monstrous one. Meanwhile in Everyman Death is neither too good or too dreadful. Death is something
normal and sincere, a sure future for every last one of

Taming Of The Shrew Vs 10 Things I Hate About You Essay
An imperative part of recreating any work of Shakespeare is assuring the characters are comparable to
his original creations. If the characters are not flawlessly portrayed through those recreations, those
who take part in revitalizing have not done their due diligence to Shakespeare s timeless masterpieces.
The characters in 10 Things I Hate About You were carefully constructed to accurately represent
Shakespeare s play, The Taming of the Shrew, in modern day time while preserving Shakespeare s
initial version. The main character in Taming of the Shrew, Katherine, is referred to as Kat in the
blockbuster film, 10 Things I Hate About You in order to modernize the adaptation. Both Katherine
and Kat are outspoken, bold young women who are avoided by those who have surrounded them.

The late 1990 s film was inspired by the 1590 s play, but was also a work of it s own which created
some differences throughout the plots. An important difference of the two plots is Katherine/Kat s

with school while Kat is in high school. Although this is not a huge difference, this creates unique
settings to both plots. Katherine is frowned upon by all of society and is referred to as the shrew by
her peers. She is never left alone and if quite often ridiculed and hated for how bold she is. Kat
however, is left alone by her peers in high school even though no one likes her either. It is clearly

Propolis Lab Report
Purpose; The antioxidant properties of Capparis spinosa honey and propolis and the effect of
combined honey and propolis administration on urine volume and electrolytes were studied in rats.
Material and methods; Capparis spinosa honey (1g/kg.b.wt), propolis (100 mg/kg.b.wt),
honey/propolis mixture (100 mg/1g/kg.b.wt), distilled water (1 ml/kg.b.wt) and furosemide (10
mg/kg.b.wt) were orally administered to five groups of rats for 21 days. Urine volume, blood and
urine sodium, potassium and chloride were measured. The antioxidant activity of propolis and the
honey was assessed and their total phenols and flavonoids were determined.
Results; Propolis and Capparis spinosa honey contain polyphenols including flavonoids and propolis
demonstrated higher antioxidant activities than honey. Honey significantly increased urine volume and
urine electrolyte excretion. Propolis has no significant effect on urine volume but co administration of
propolis and honey caused significant diuresis. No major changes were observed in plasma
electrolytes with use of honey, propolis or their combination.
Conclusion; Honey and propolis have antioxidant activity and contain polyphenols including
flavonoids that were more pronounced in propolis. Honey has a significant diuretic activity alone or in
combination with propolis. This is the first study comparing the diuretic effect of co administration of
propolis and Capparis spinosa honey with furosemide.

sun rose there was a white fog, very warm and clammy, and more blinding than the night (Conrad 41).
From somewhere in the jungle, Marlow is described as saying: ... a very loud cry of infinite desolation
soared slowly in the opaque air. It ceased. A complaining clamour, modulated in savage discords,
filled our ears. The sheer unexpectedness of it made my hair stir under my cap (41). He continues, I
don t know how it struck the others, to me it seemed as though the mist had screamed, so suddenly
and apparently from all sides at once did this tumultuous and mournful uproar arise (Conrad 41).
Marlow s crew panicked, and one man wondered if they would be attacked. Another murmured, We
will all be butchered in this fog (Conrad 41). Very much out of place in a strange foreign environment,

Strategic Problem and Issues: In the performance apparel market the top three competitors consist of
Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, with Nike leading the industry and Under Armour coming in last.
The Challenge for Under Armor will be can they stand the pressure from their competitors as they
expand into a bigger market. They must be able to provide their customers with either cheaper or
better products, the companies marginal cost should be better than that of their competitors, and Under
Armour must prove to their customers that their products are different and overall better than their
competitors (Terfis Team, 2014). If they re able to succeed through these risk, then Under Armour will
have a fighting chance of competing with those larger companies. Situation Analysis and Evaluation:
Under Armour s goals is to make athletes better through Passion, Design and the Relentless Pursuit of

Why Is Hillary Clinton Unfair
In the first presidential debate, we can see that Hillary Clinton was the clear winner. She was very
prepared and acted professional throughout the debate. She answered the questions thoroughly and in
a manner that helped portray her political agenda. In this first debate, she began to give the viewers a
sense of what it would be like with her in office. Unlike her opponent, Donald Trump, she did not
speak out of turn and respected the moderator, Lester Holt. The questions asked throughout this first
debate were overall unfair. The questions asked of Secretary Clinton were ones that she was fully
prepared for and that made her look like the more intelligent candidate. The questions asked of Mr.
Trump were ones of controversy, making

aside from his alcoholism. Others see the intellectual potential Frank has to thrive, but because of his
outer appearance he is shunned. When his father wanted him to become an altar boy, they were turned
away because of their poverty. The second time he was turned away was when Frank was told he had
could succeed in school, but was turned away by the secondary institution because of his looks. His
mother even starts to see that her own children s opportunities are being limited by their poverty,
which cannot be helped. That s the second time a door was slammed in your face by the

Hot Coffee, By Susan Saladoff
Homework Assignment I: Hot Coffee The movie, Hot Coffee , is a documentary film that was created
by Susan Saladoff in 2011 that analyzes the impact of the tort reform on the United States judicial
system. The title and the basis of the film is derived from the Liebeck v. McDonald s restaurants
lawsuit where Liebeck had burned herself after spilling hot coffee purchased from McDonald s into
her lap. The film features four different suits that may involve the tort reform. This film included
many comments from politicians and celebrities about the case. There were also several myths and
misconceptions on how Liebeck had spilled the coffee and how severe the burns were to her. One of
the myths was that many people thought she was driving when she spilled the coffee on herself and
that she suffered only minor burns, while in truth she suffered severe burns and needed surgery. This
case is portrayed in the film as being used and misused to describe in conjunction with tort reform
efforts. The film explained how corporations have spent millions of dollars deforming tort cases in
order to promote tort reform. So in the film Hot Coffee it uses the case, Liebeck v. McDonalds, as an
example of large corporations trying to promote the tort reform, in which has many advantages and
disadvantages to the United States judicial system. The tort reform is often proposed by the
Republican Party in which it changes the civil judicial system that aims to reduce the ability of

and the one to come. He was the best storyteller in the West, and this made him famous because out of

It was because, despite the challenges that she faced, she was ready to move on with life. She became
famous as the woman writer and as a local colorist. She was capable of writing many stories, sketches
in arcane magazines and essays and at the selfsame time to take care of her children.
Kate Chopin was a woman who struggled to meet her objectives. She never lose hope and finally she
made it. Though she was frustrated by several situations, she never gave in. She left a legacy to those
with comparable difficulties that problems should not terminate our dreams.

College of Arts at Syracuse University. However, he never graduated. He had written for several years.
His first novel that he had published by himself, Maggie, a Girl of the Streets a Story of New York,

Crane started writing short stories and sketches immediately after the school. Am impressed by him

Merger Of Hospital AAnd B.
A merger is a partial or total combination of two separate business firms and forming of a new one.
There are predominantly two kinds of mergers: partial and complete. Partial merger usually involves
the combination of joint ventures and inter corporate stock purchases. Complete mergers are results in
blending of identities and the creation of a single succeeding firm. (Hicks, 2012, p 491). Mergers in
the healthcare sector, particularly horizontal hospital mergers wherein two or more hospitals merge
into a single corporation, are increasing both in frequency and importance. (Gaughan, 2002). This
paper is an attempt to study the impact of the merger of two competing healthcare organization and

It decided to liquidate after 3 years of red ink.
Hospital B was a not for profit organization, located in west side of town. It consists of 154 inpatient
beds and a geriatric health center with 100 106 beds, 13 transitional beds and 7 rehabilitation beds.
Total staff of 914 employees. It is an old facility and has earmarked $20 million for renovation to
existing emergency room and ICU. Appendix 1, Table 1 provides an overview of the two facilities
before merger and an overview of PRMC after Merger.
Rational for merger
Merger of Hospital A and B and its consolidation into PRMC was essential as Hospital A was crippled
with losses for 3 previous years and was also forecasting losses in the coming year. Hospital B was
struggling with an aging facility. Furthermore, given that both the hospitals were in the same
community and therefore essentially serving the same community, they were competing both: for the
same patients, as well as, the clinical staff. The merger, allowed the new PRMC to reduce the
healthcare costs, address the shortage of healthcare personnel and improve the delivery of healthcare
by reducing the duplication of services and providing wide variety of services to the small community
of 60,000 in southeastern part of Idaho.
Assumptions
Before we begin the process of examining the impact of a merger of two competing hospitals, there
are some ..... that we will assume. Some of the assumptions are 1.) There are no

Voter Turnout In America
The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into
many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not voter
turnout actually matters. Despite public opinion that voter participation is declining and that such
participation matters, voter turnout is about the same as it was in the 1960s and has not undergone
serious changes, and turnout only actually matters in competitive or local elections, rarely national
elections. The first determinant of variation in voter turnout is election differences between states;
specifically, voting accessibility, early voting, how competitive the race is, and gerrymandering of
districts in the state. Voting accessibility

Jenna Premo Into Thin Air
Jenna Premo Into Thin Air Response #1 Into Thin Air is more of an information book about the
mountain rather than a book about what went on during their climb. Krakauer seems to be a
reasonable man and starts his climbing journey from the summit. This shows that the climax or
disaster is during the descent. Krakauer s description of being on the summit wasn t all that exciting,
showing how something disinterest is going to happen. I think he thinks reaching the summit was not
worth what it had cost, which he is correct because loosing friends is not worth the risk. I do not
understand why anyone would risk their lives just for a label. Although I understand it was Krakauer s
childhood dream, he has a wife at home and he should make sure nothing happens to him so he can be
with her. I do not see who someone can ignore a significant other and risk their lives for five seconds
of adrenaline and a brand on their reputation. Ascending the Everest seems impossible to me,
considering the physical conditions put on people and the mental conditions. I was surprised at the
number of people who had died trying to climb Everest, I thought it would be higher, but considering
the amount of people who have, it makes more sense. When talking about trusting your partners, I
would have to. If you don t trust your partner you won t be able to get anything done without feeling
suspicious. With brains not working efficiently and high tensions, anything could happen and you

Fa Mu Lan, Brave Orchid
The Women Warriors
Warriors come in all shapes and sizes, including Chinese women. Growing up in America, Maxine
Hong Kingston does not know what kind of Chinese girl to be. She is conditioned to expect to be a
wife or a slave, but she dreams of the warrior she knows she could be. The warrior motif is an
extremely important part of Hong Kingston s memoir, referring as it does to Fa Mu Lan, Brave
Orchid, and Hong Kingston, herself. All three of these women display their inner warrior by defying
the traditional cultures of what is expected of Chinese women.
Fa Mu Lan is a genuine woman warrior because she proves that Chinese women can be capable, and
at the same time, fulfill the duties of a traditional Chinese woman. Hong Kingston is careful to point
out that Fa Mu Lan is a warrior and a woman, not one or the other. By becoming a war hero, Fa Mu
Lan has not given up being a woman. She put[s] on [her] men s clothes and armor ... Show more

As a little girl, Hong Kingston has trouble speaking, but throughout the book, she eventually finds her
voice. This is most apparent when she is finally able to stand up to her mother and declare her list.
Hong Kingston writes that once she started speaking, the words kept pouring out (200). Not only does
Hong Kingston have an epiphany regarding her power of speech, but she also proves that she will not
grow up only to be a wife or slave, she too is a warrior. Also, Hong Kingston uses her power with
words to write her book, The Woman Warrior. Through selectively compiling stories, Hong Kingston
has the power to choose which stories define her. She can write her own story differently, to give a
different spin on it, and to remember it as she wishes it were, like she did with Fa Mu Lan. In
conclusion, Hong Kingston realizes, as much as longs to be a ferocious warrior, she conscious that her
true power is in her

Essay On Mexican Americans In The 1960s
In the 1960s, the Mexican Americans identity reached a point where it was integrated into the political
life of the nation. The Chicano population was so large in numbers that they could no longer be
ignored in the cities. They had profoundly affected the economy, politics, fashion, and music in the
60s. The baby boomers generation listened to Rock and roll and supported integration and opposed the
Vietnam War. World War II raised the awareness of civil rights and liberties among minorities. The
revolt of youth during the decade challenged the stability of the middle class and the ruling elite. The
Ford foundation in the 1960s, funded a million dollars to the University of California to study
Mexican Americans in the 1960 census. The census showed that Spanish surnamed persons in the
Southwest earned $968 per capita, less than half of the income that white Americans made.
Unemployment was also higher among Chicanos. Social segregation was still common in places like

  • 2. Chapter 22 The Hindu Rite Of Entry Into Heaven Hindu death rites Chinese death rites In Chapter 22, The Hindu Rite of Entry into Heaven , Knipe discusses the Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa after the death in Hinduism which is continuing elaboration in two thousands years. In ancient Hinduism, fire is believes to be the way to transfer to God. Via cremation, considered as a sacrifice act, one can transforming from preta ( ghost ) to pitṛ (father) and enter the world of ancestors pitṛs. After the cremation, the ashes will be thrown to the Ganges or other river in medieval and modern rites since water is the second transfer medium. If the death rite of the deceased isn t operate properly, the deceased will become ghost and will do harm to the whole family among six generation. By sacrifices, one is believed to feed gods and ancestors and can re energize universe. This homology thoughts are same as Zoroastrianism where deceased go to the cosmic. However, while Hinduism believes in karma, Zoroastrianism sees souls are more trapped in soma. In Hinduism old belief, the transmigration(Saṃsāra) is operative and rebirth in a new body from the heaven(the Fathers) which is associate with the lunar cycle is really easy(Brhadaranyaka upanisad 4.4.3 4). Later believes that preta need to travel a long journey to World of the Fathers and gradual construct an ancestral body. During the preta s journey, family need to offer Piṇḍas (rice ball) to feed the preta and giving away a bull to help the preta across the Vaitarani River. Plus, there are ... • 3. Overt And Covert Facial Recognition Essay Facial recognition involves the identification of individuals through the use of their facial features and, or expressions (MS, 2017). The model of facial recognition seeks to discover exactly how the brain is able to recognize facial features both consciously and unconsciously (Schweinberger Burton, 2003). The following set of experiments seeks to study overt and covert facial recognition (Schweinberger Burton, 2003). Covert facial recognition is the unconscious recognition of familiar faces (Maureen, 2016). Whereas, overt facial recognition involves conscious facial recognition (Maureen, 2016). There are many considerable methods used by researchers to examine the process of covert and, or overt facial recognition (Schweinberger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each study discussed above examines the model of facial recognition and its relation to overt and covert recognition. Covert facial recognition is the unconscious recognition of familiar faces (Maureen, 2016). Whereas, overt facial recognition is the conscious recognition (Maureen, 2016). There has been a vast amount of research on the topic in an attempt to discover exactly how the recognition of facial features/expressions take place in the brain and how it can be linked to certain neurological disorders. Overall, results from each study examined tend to suggest that overt and covert facial recognition share the same area of the brain. Research by Farah and colleagues did not support this idea however, they do not deny it either. Rather, they suggest the possibility of separate forms of prosopagnosia, one causing damage to both overt and covert facial recognition while the other(s) cause damage to only one of the functions. This study, however, is also much older than the others examined which could be a result of lack of information that overtime was learned by others. The majority of research suggests that damage to overt facial recognition will in time result in damage to covert facial recognition. Thus meaning if one is damaged it is only a matter of time before the other starts to suffer. However, with it not being the case one hundred percent of the time it would not be fair to assume that and ignore opposing research. There are many different ideas and findings on the subject and hopefully with time researchers will be able to learn whether or not the damage of one area guarantees the damage of the ... • 4. Causes Of Recidivism In Today s society former offenders are reverting back to criminal activity, leading to a reoccurring issue within the U.S. criminal justice system. These former offenders are reentering society with little or no progress after prison. Recidivism Law and Legal Definition (N.d.) defines the term recidivism as the tendency to lapse into a previous pattern of behavior, especially a pattern of criminal habits. Specifically, to rearrests, reconviction, or reincarnate former inmates. Currently, there is no single cause for recidivism. However, a few explanations for recidivism may include, the lack of education, inability to obtain employment, and psychological dysfunctions inherited during incarceration. Education provides access to economic and social success in any field of life. Commonly, inmate s ender prison with very low skill levels. So forth, official statistics show over fifty percent of both male and female offenders do not have any educational skills. In Today s Society education and incarceration inevitably cycle back to one another. For instance, in neighborhoods in towns that spend millions of dollars to lock up residents, the education department suffers more. Hence, zip codes to high rates of incarceration can be linked to low performing schools. Thus, poor communities suffer the most, leading to poor education systems in the community. Specifically, Hawkins (2010) reports sixty eight percent of the Los Angeles high performing schools are in neighborhoods with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence Although there are many threats and worries with Artificial Intelligence there are also many benefits that can outweigh the negatives. Our society is already experiencing this technology in vehicles that have auto sensing and braking capabilities. Another really intriguing feature of AI would be faster and more accurate web searches. I believe being able to provide information instantly will further improve lives and the business world, since time is money. Today we call artificial intelligence narrow artificial intelligence which means artificial intelligence that is weak. Google is an example of narrow artificial intelligence that we use every day. Other examples of narrow artificial intelligence include ATMs and touchless car washes, they are designed to execute a set of tasks. Whereas AI can learn set tasks and create new tasks based on its intuition and ability to think and problem solve for itself. What s in store for Artificial intelligence within the next 5 years (believe me a lot can happen with technology in 5 years)? 3 D printers, IOT (internet of things), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) are taking the spotlight light currently. These technologies will exponentially improve and become more commonplace in the business world then expand into the consumer market once businesses have improved their capabilities as a pioneer in the technologies. One can expect 3 D printers to be able to print everything from cars/trucks to tissue cells for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Economics and Change Economics and Change Dimensions of Professional Practice 08/02/2015 Economics and Change Introduction Health care in America is at the center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon can be used up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Six procedures could be done with one balloon that costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. AAnalysis On The Executive s Management The two CEO s we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what we can only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of the CEO for the e mail, we don t get a lot of background on the company they are running like we do with SAS. It doesn t tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much about the company perks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it s direct effect to company production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO s management style just from this message. First of all, this is an e mail. We don t know the meetings that have been called to address this issue prior to this, but by sending this in an e mail he is making it very impersonal. The CEO here isn t showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. They are also very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate Center and the Stock Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement. The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in staff will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not. This will most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that something does need to be done to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pardoners Tale, Chaucer, Canterbury Essays The Pardoner s Subconscious Character quot; The Pardoner s Tale, quot; by Geoffrey Chaucer, makes evident the parallel between the internal emotions of people and the subconscious exposure of those emotions. This particular story, from The Canterbury Tales, is a revealing tale being told by a medieval pardoner to his companions on a journey to Canterbury. Though the Pardoner s profession is to pardon and absolve the sins of people, he actually lives in constant violation of sins such as gluttony, gambling, and, most importantly, avarice. The Pardoner does feel guilt and advocates not to commit avarice; he exclaims, quot; Radix malorum est Cupiditas, quot; (line 426) as his theme more than once. Because he ... Thus, the old man looks of death: quot;Lo how I vanysshe, flessh, and blood, and skyn! quot; (Line 732). On the other hand, the Pardoner s profession is to absolve sinners and steer them towards life; he guides people to spiritual and even physical life! Therefore, he personifies all that is pure and innocent, such as a youthful and innocent boy. Both, with this physical aid, do good jobs of preaching to people to get their desired results. The eager minds of the people and the skill of the two preachers are what lead the people to either life or death. It is obvious that the Pardoner does not actually use sacred relics to cure anything: quot;Relikes been they, as wenen they echoon / Thanne have I in latoun a sholder boon / Which that was of an hooly Jewes sheep. quot; (Lines 349 51). He has actually quot;cured quot; those who come to him seeking salvation and pardon. This mindset, with the addition of the Pardoner s great skill in making himself sound so innocent and pure, is what actually cures the people. The people just need something tangible, like the fake relics, to hold on to and believe in to be quot;cured quot;. Again, the same is true for the old man. The three rioters that come to him are already in search of and eager to find Death, as opposed to life or salvation. When the old man points them in the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More employees are converting to telecommuting due to a variety of reasons. The current business paradigm shift recognizes that space and time no longer contractually define the mode and nature of work. Workers do not have to go to where the work is instead, work is now sent to where the workers are in homes, satellite offices, and neighborhood work centers, (Nyaanga, 2012). Author Solomon makes a valid point in his article since many people do not want to do the daily commute five to six days a week. Not only does it waste actual work time, money for transportation, but also the convenience capabilities for employees. The convenience certainly applies to employees who do not live close to the office setting or live in a very populated area with heavy traffic. Telecommuting Advantages For over 30 years, the workplace has undergone a series of transformations such as the integration of technology into business work design, product innovation, development, processes, performance, delivery, productivity, creativity, competitiveness, and worker flexibility, (Nyaanga, 2012). • 12. Milton Friedman, An American Economist When most of us think of the words opportunity cost, price, production, and service, we think of something related to obtaining or giving something. According to Merriam Webster, opportunity cost is defined as, the added cost of using resources (as for production or speculative investment) that is the difference between the actual value resulting from such use and that of an alternative (as another use of the same resources or an investment of equal risk but greater return). Price, is defined as the amount of money that you pay for something or that something costs. Production, is defined as the process of making or growing something for sale or use, and lastly, service, is defined as, the occupation or function of serving. Milton Friedman, an American economist, would say, nothing in live is free, that is, if you want something, you have to give something. These four words can all be tied together and used to give and receive. We can either use it to our benefit or simply perform it. We could get the most out of life using these four words, opportunity cost, price, production, and service, by primary accepting that everything in life is obtained at a cost, acknowledging that they can be used as forward looking concepts, and agreeing to do everything yourself instead of hiring someone to do it in your place. Multiple people simply cannot accept the fact that everything obtained in life comes at a cost. Whether it be monetary or emotional even, you will have to give up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National Park Service History In the words of the iconic Ron Swanson, from the hit show series Parks and Recreation, the national parks service is probably the only branch of government worth a damn. All thanks to the work of several individuals, backed by an entire government, this national treasure will soon celebrate its one hundredth birthday. The idea of the National Parks Service was first conceptualized in 1872 when Congress established what is now Yellowstone National Park as a public park or pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people. under the Act of March 1, 1872. The notion began years before with some of the first European settlers that were captivated by the beauty and worked to protect it. Since then, the system has grown to include natural, historic, and recreation areas in every region. The Computer Aided Diagnosis has been proposed for the medical prognosis [7 9]. The fuzzy logic and Artificial Neural Network form the basis of the intelligent systems. There are several instances where the artificial intelligence is used for the diagnosis of the breast cancer. The methods have included many Artificial Neural Networks architectures such as Convolution Neural Network [10], Radial Basis Network [11], General Regression Neural Network [11], Probabilistic Neural Network [11], Resilient Back propagation Neural Network [12], and hybrid with Fuzzy Logic [13]. In this paper [7] a supervised artificial neural network [14 16] was used to help classify the breast lesions into malignant and benign classes by processing the computer cytology images. The accuracy of the trained neural network was found to be 82.21%. • 17. Compare and Contrast Any Two Theories of Leadership Essay Compare and contrast any two theories of leadership In the following essay I will look at leadership, its definition and compare and contrast two theories behind it. I will firstly see if there is a distinction between leadership and management as suggested by John Kotter(1990) who goes on further to stress that organisations require both a leader and a manager but the function can be provided by a single individual. I will then look at some definitions of leadership such as that by Bryman(1999), The process of influencing the activities of an organized group in its efforts toward goal setting and goal attainment . The two leadership theories which I will compare and contrast are transactional and transformational. I will also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Transactional leadership relies on the workers behaviour being influenced by means of reward by the leader. There is co dependency between the leader and the worker, one has to offer the other something for a desired outcome. A real life example of transactional leadership is the use of commission in the sales industry. Performance to the leader s requirement or expectation is rewarded. This could be seen as one of the advantages of this type of leadership, that is it provides a clear idea of what is required. Watch any episode of the BBC television programme The Apprentice and this theory is clearly demonstrated throughout. The main disadvantage becomes clear, the assumption is everyone is motivated by monetary rewards and this is simply untrue. In contrast transformational leadership is the infusion of motivation and inspiration into the workers to do the work by their leader as suggested by Anita(2008) You have to look at leadership through the eyes of the followers and you have to live the message. What I have learned is that people become motivated when you guide them to the source of their own power and when you make heroes out of employees who personify what you want to see in the organisation. The election campaign that was run by the now US President, Barak Obama, was transformational. Obama influenced the voters with his charisma and motivated them by addressing issues that appealed to them. This highlights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Effect Of A Clock Reaction On The Reaction Rate Of A... A clock reaction is a form of chemical reaction where multiple reagents are placed together with no apparent change after a time lag until a dramatic colour change appears called the induction period (King, Preece and Billingham, 1999). This abrupt colour change can be due to the limiting reagent being fully consumed which allows the remaining chemicals to react resulting in a colour change. Specific kinetic and stoichiometric conditions are required for this standard clock behaviour to occur. Clock reactions can be highly useful to investigate rates of reaction as the rate of the colour change may differ due to varying factors. The reaction rate of a chemical reaction can be defined as the speed in which the reaction occurs. The speed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 1: Effect of order on the reactant (UCDAVIS 2, 2017) Typically, the order of a reactant does not go beyond a second order. The greater the order is, the greater the increase in reaction rate when the reactant is doubled. The sum of the order of reactants for the experiment is then the order of the overall reaction (UCDAVIS 2, 2017). The two methods to determine the rate law of a kinetics experiment is by initial rates and by integrated rate law. To utilise the initial rates method, multiple experiments can be conducted with differing concentrations and measuring the initial rate for the reactions (Yamauchi, Nord and Schullery, 2016). From this, the reaction order for the corresponding substance can be calculated and the rate constant can be found. However, the method of initial rates requires the chemical reaction to be fairly slow and since several experiments need to be executed, it is not an ideal method. The integrated rate law method utilises integrated rate laws in comparison with the collected data relating concentration and time during a kinetics experiment (SparkNotes, 2017). This method finds the order of the reactant by plotting the time versus a function of the concentration data and using trial and error with a selected rate law. If the integrated rate law is correct, the data points will appear linear and if it is not linear then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis Of Alexandre Dumas Davy De La Pailleterie Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, the author of The Three Musketeers, was born in Villers Cotterets, France on July 24, 1802. His father, also named Alexandre Dumas, was a general in Napoleon s army. When the author was only four years old, his father died, and he and his two siblings were raised in poverty by his mother, Marie Louise Elizabeth Davy de la Pailleterie. He went a private school for a short period of time before he started teaching himself and becoming homeschooled. In 1823, he moved to Paris, where he was able to obtain a comfortable job as a clerk for the Duke of Orleans. By this time, he had developed passions for the ladies and for the theater (Alexandre Dumas). After being inspired by watching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost all of his renowned books were collaborations with other writers, primarily Auguste Maquet. Their works included The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. These novels were initially broken down into serials in magazines instead of complete books. Because of all his successes with his novels, the 1840s were the apex of his finances, and he was able to build a luxurious estate. Although Dumas created some of the best known plays and novels in the world, he suffered from many setbacks which ultimately led to his death. He created a controversial, yet popular play in 1832 called The Tower of Nesle. The play depicted many of the vices of the preceding king and was disliked by the new king, Louis Philippe. As a result, the author was exiled from France for a short period of time. He suffered from bankruptcy from wasting too much money on his estate and giving lavish gifts to women. He escaped his creditors by fleeing to Brussels. After he returned to Paris, he worked tirelessly to pay his debts. He created two newspaper companies, which survived about three years each. Then, he had to retreat to first son s home in 1870 because of the Prussian occupation of Paris in the Franco Prussian War. He died two years later in poverty and declining spirits on December fifth at seventy years old (DISCovering Authors). Critical Analysis Although The Three Musketeers is regarded as of the ... • 22. Illegal Immigration And Illegal Immigrants Abstract Throughout the years there has been and increasing number of illegal immigrants in this country. Just recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty. ... • 24. American Embalming Essay The American funeral industry came to be how it is today in the Civil War, when so many soldiers died far away from their families and homes and needed to be preserved for long distance travel so they could be buried on their own land. Nowadays, embalming involves pumping a cocktail of chemicals, namely formaldehyde, phenol, glutaraldehyde, methanol, and glycerin, through one of the corpses main arteries to delay the decomposition process. Toxic chemicals from the embalming, burial, and cremation process leach into the air and soil, and expose funeral workers to potential hazards. And maintaining the crisp, green memorial plots is extremely land and water use heavy. (Julia Calderone, Nov. 4, 2015) The cost of this, as well as the cost and ... The amount of embalming fluid in ten acres in a typical cemetery can reach up to around 80,000 gal. That s 80,000 gallons of toxic chemicals potentially leaking into the surrounding environment and posing a health risk for humans and animals alike. There are many better, more environmentally sound ways of disposing of a corpse, like alkaline hydrolysis [resomation], which is an effective alternative to cremation, and natural burials, which can serve as a foil for the traditional American burial. In his writing, Manning explores the evolving relationship he has with his father, both physical and emotional, and acknowledges the gradual changes between them over the years. However, we are informed that monks and priests often wrote this type of drama, the morality with a catholic message one. In addition we can say that the Everyman we know today is most likely the result of years over decades of literary evolution. The setting of the play is not something that can be compared with a realistic setting. But, meanwhile it important to indicate that the cultural setting is drawn out from the Roman Catholism of that period of time. It was highly believed during this era that Afterlife was something reachable for everyman that has done no sins on this life (even if he has ha has confess of them and asked for forgiveness by penance). And in reality the whole plot of the play, even the involvement of death, revolves in this concept of afterlife. The message in Everyman is pretty clear: When death falls upon you the only thing of yours that will have a use before the judgment of Him is your Good deeds. The main theme of the play is death ... The author makes the audience question itself about the abstract things in life such as love, friendship, retribution. Death here comes in play by bring out all deeds of the person (Everyman) and by making him face the consequences. This is , of course the Catholic point of view, where after leaving the mortal body, the person is accompanied in a journey to afterlife alongside Death. There have been other books where a major role is played by Death ( The book Thief by Markus Zuzak and Paradise Lost by John Millton) but each of them represents Death as a either to sensitive creature, or a monstrous one. Meanwhile in Everyman Death is neither too good or too dreadful. Death is something normal and sincere, a sure future for every last one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Taming Of The Shrew Vs 10 Things I Hate About You Essay An imperative part of recreating any work of Shakespeare is assuring the characters are comparable to his original creations. If the characters are not flawlessly portrayed through those recreations, those who take part in revitalizing have not done their due diligence to Shakespeare s timeless masterpieces. The characters in 10 Things I Hate About You were carefully constructed to accurately represent Shakespeare s play, The Taming of the Shrew, in modern day time while preserving Shakespeare s initial version. The main character in Taming of the Shrew, Katherine, is referred to as Kat in the blockbuster film, 10 Things I Hate About You in order to modernize the adaptation. Both Katherine and Kat are outspoken, bold young women who are avoided by those who have surrounded them. Because of the way they carry themselves, they are not liked by friends, family, or men. The late 1990 s film was inspired by the 1590 s play, but was also a work of it s own which created some differences throughout the plots. An important difference of the two plots is Katherine/Kat s surroundings. Katherine is a bit older than Kat, whereas she is a young woman most likely finished with school while Kat is in high school. Although this is not a huge difference, this creates unique settings to both plots. Katherine is frowned upon by all of society and is referred to as the shrew by her peers. She is never left alone and if quite often ridiculed and hated for how bold she is. Kat however, is left alone by her peers in high school even though no one likes her either. Hot Coffee, By Susan Saladoff Homework Assignment I: Hot Coffee The movie, Hot Coffee , is a documentary film that was created by Susan Saladoff in 2011 that analyzes the impact of the tort reform on the United States judicial system. The title and the basis of the film is derived from the Liebeck v. McDonald s restaurants lawsuit where Liebeck had burned herself after spilling hot coffee purchased from McDonald s into her lap. The film features four different suits that may involve the tort reform. This film included many comments from politicians and celebrities about the case. There were also several myths and misconceptions on how Liebeck had spilled the coffee and how severe the burns were to her. One of the myths was that many people thought she was driving when she spilled the coffee on herself and that she suffered only minor burns, while in truth she suffered severe burns and needed surgery. This case is portrayed in the film as being used and misused to describe in conjunction with tort reform efforts. The film explained how corporations have spent millions of dollars deforming tort cases in order to promote tort reform. So in the film Hot Coffee it uses the case, Liebeck v. Krakauer seems to be a reasonable man and starts his climbing journey from the summit. This shows that the climax or disaster is during the descent. Krakauer s description of being on the summit wasn t all that exciting, showing how something disinterest is going to happen. I think he thinks reaching the summit was not worth what it had cost, which he is correct because loosing friends is not worth the risk. I do not understand why anyone would risk their lives just for a label. Although I understand it was Krakauer s childhood dream, he has a wife at home and he should make sure nothing happens to him so he can be with her. I do not see who someone can ignore a significant other and risk their lives for five seconds of adrenaline and a brand on their reputation.
