(1)Socio cultural (2)Economic (3)Demographic (4)Political (5)Competition 1.1 Introduction I am
going to describe about McDonald s. McDonald s is the fast food branch probably known for their
great burgers. The company started in 1953 as Insta McDonald s, a Jacksonville, Florida based
restaurant chain. Insta a Spanish Word means Calls. After Insta McDonald s ran into financial
difficulties in 1954, its two Miami based franchisees, David Edgerton and James McLamore,
purchased the company and renamed it McDonald s. McDonald s has been started in 1954 in the US.
McDonald s entered in New Zealand Market in later 1990s. Store Location As McDonald s is a chain
of fast food restaurant. It establishes many of their fast food restaurants in city and in Suburbs also.
Here the selected Suburb is Cook Street. (Howick). Socio cultural: In New Zealand there are many
different type of people are living who belongs to the different culture, norms and values. Whenever

My Problems In My Life
They say, Life s a journey with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to
enjoy. We go through a lot of things in this journey, sometimes having cheerful moments, however,
sometimes with very melancholy times, It is all about learning new stuffs and applying it to our daily
basis. Being a 14 year old girl, I ve had quite a bit of problems in my journey; one of the most
heartbreaking and distressed moment in my life was when i had to go through anxiety. Generally
speaking, being a kindergartner and not knowing what anxiety is totally normal. In fact, I was the
exact same; I barely knew what anxiety was when I was a kid. To being with, kindergarten was a long
road for me. I barely even had any friends; most of the girls used to leave me unaccompanied. I
remember the day when I was new and was desperate to make new friends. Happily and smiling, I
went to this group of girls. They looked nice but who knew how they were from the inside. Personally,
I was a tomboy, a girl with short hair, who used to wear pants and shirts with marvel character logos.
But the girls were way different, they were girly girls with long beautiful hair who wore pretty dresses
and clothes. That must have been the main difference between them and me. I tried to introduce
myself, and said Hi!, but all I got was a disgusted look in the faces that were staring at me from head
to toe with whispers that were supposed to be silent but I still could hear them. The happy

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Religion Research
Religious truths can be revealed in different ways such as through symbolic language, images, and
statements. God is believed to be much greater than we can possibly imagine, as defined by
philosopher Anselm (1033 1109) That which nothing greater can be conceived . It can be difficult to
use our own language as a way of describing God and his attributes. The complexity of talking about
God is shown in the quote, God can be thought about more truly than he can be talked about, and he is
more truly than he can be thought about (De Trinitate On the Trinity ). In my discussion I will put
forward different approaches of Aquinas, Ramsey, Maimonides and other philosophers to evaluate the
strengths and weaknesses of symbolic language about God
Religious language is either analogical or equivocal. Thomas Aquinas and Ian Ramsey believed the
analogical approach and thought there were similarities between the words we use in ordinary
language and the words we use to describe God. Aquinas recognised that words do not have the same
meaning when applied to God being infinite, but are univocal to a certain extent. As there is a true
correspondence. E.g. God is good , we can understand what this means from our understanding of
good although it might not be as great. With this, Aquinas then developed his theory of proportion.
Within which he recognises that statements about God are qualitatively greater than statements about
humans. Although his theory does seem to suggest that our

Informative Speech On Superbugs
Christian Lozada Dr. Menegatos HON 105 29 September 2017 Informative Speech Manuscript Does
anyone here ever worry about the food that you eat? Where it came from? What it s made with? If
there are any harmful chemicals? Those are of course legitimate concerns because that would be pretty
scary to eat food that may just stab you in the back. Have you ever worried about an incurable
infection being in your food, though? It s not a common thought, but actually the feeding of antibiotics
to food producing animals is causing incurable infections and deaths throughout the entire world. It s
very important to understand how antibiotics work and how our misuse of them causes incurable

(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 17 April 2015, para. 7). If your doctor has ever given, or
will give you antibiotics, the misuse, the wrong dosage, and even the wrongful prescription of
antibiotics, such as for a virus, can eventually contribute to making a superbug, again according to the
CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 February 2017, para. 2 5). There are already
many instances of superbugs taking people s lives. For example, just this January 2017, the CDC
reported that a Washoe County resident in Reno, Nevada died in late September 2016 because she had
an infection from a superbug that could not be cured by every available antibiotic in the United States
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 August 2017, para. 1 5). Posted on the Infectious
Diseases Society of America website in 2007 by her mother was the story of how Rebecca Lohsen, a
17 year old high school student and swimmer from New Jersey, died from an MRSA infection, an
infection resulting from a superbug (Infectious Diseases Society of America, September 2007, para.

died to a superbug after spending time in an intensive care unit in a hospital (Infectious Diseases
Society of America, n.d., para. 1 3). And the list of those affected goes way on. So as we can see,
superbugs are definitely a threatening and real issue that can affect almost anyone.

Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Student Answer: The use of social networking comes with mixed reviews because this tool can be
used to both grow a company and potentially harm a company . Companies that utilize social
networks can benefit form the influx of customers. Using social network platforms allow the customer
to reach millions of customers. ` The viral nature of social networking encourages all the people who
are connected to you to share what they like, plan to attend, or want to participate in` (Minerof, 2010).
In the case of Facebook, you can see the pages, companies, campaigns, and events your friends like
and plan to participate in . Seeing these actives on your time line most times lead you to also look at
the company. These is a great marketing tool. `Social networking does have its pitfalls` (Minerof,
2010).Companies that allow their employees to access Facebook may be creating opportunities for
unethical practice, especially when employees overly engage during work hours. Employees can
sometimes over engage in infrequent status updates, game applications and viewing online images and
videos. Blurring the lines between personal and business use (Minerof, 2010). Allowing employees to
use social networks for work related activities causes distractions from social media that makes the
negative impact of such media on productivity to outweigh the benefits (Minerof, 2010). The internet
may be a distraction from work activities because the potential of abuse due to unlimited access to

Fillings and root canals: 60% of all visits

cashflow start in 2012 till 2021 * Average revenue per patient = 873,8
* Assumptions: * we did not take time of the different dental procedures into consideration. This is
because I thought that the clinic would never get full, so there would never be a bottleneck situation
where patients would have to wait that long that they would leave for the competitor. * Furthermore I
assumed that more time was needed, that the extra costs was already calculated in the total costs of the

expanded packages with extra services for a higher fee, The alternative of having wealthier people pay
more for the same services wouldn t work, as it is very hard to check the wealth of patients is too
fraud sensitive.
Question 3
Extra note first uncertainty: * This is defined as an effect uncertainty, because regardless if the clinic
stays with ELI or become an independent entity, keeping the current policy of charging for services
will dissatisfy the community which can lead to a deficit for the clinic. (Will the community keep
visiting the clinic or not?)
Extra note 2 See slides of uncertainty lecture * There is an absence of probability because no one
could predict whether the clinic would continue or not, under ELI or selfsustaining entity (financial

Essay on Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman is
wrought with symbolism from the opening scene. Many symbols illustrate the themes of success and
failure. They include the apartment buildings, the rubber hose, Willy s brother Ben, the tape recorder,
and the seeds for the garden. These symbols represent Willy s attempts to be successful and his
impending failure. When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed
form the city. Willy was young and strong and he believed he had a future full of success. He and his
sons cut the tree limbs that threatened his home and put up a hammock that he would enjoy with his
children. The green fields ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His wife Linda, who finds the hose, knows what he was going to do with it, as does Biff. When
confronted by Biff, Willy not only denies that he was going to use the hose, but also denies ever
seeing it before. Instead of being remembered as a successful businessman who died, Willy is seen by
his family as a failure who cannot even commit suicide or tell the truth. Willy s brother Ben seems to
symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of
success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben
achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional
evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him
and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder.
It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for
themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ).
It would not be enough to just be successful; Willy wanted to be able to show people material
representations of his success. The tape recorder shows that Howard has reached this level of success.
Yet while the recorder symbolizes the wealth and power of Howard, it also represents Willy s
discouragement and

The Ethics And Legal Implications Of The Internal Revenue...
The complexity of the Internal Revenue Code has been the source of genuine concern, standup jokes,
and political theater for years, but its greatest effect on practitioners of tax is to create a myriad of
complicated gray areas and thorny questions that are not quickly resolved to a neat yes or no answer.
This ambiguity has resulted in a situation where the ethical and legal implications of tax practice are
serious considerations for any professional who is engaging in this line of work.
Since 1881, U.S.C. 31 has regulated who can represent other people to the Treasury Department,
which encompasses the IRS. This representation, called practice before the IRS, includes not just
representation in court, but also all forms of communication on behalf of the taxpayer, including
written documentation, phone calls, and interviews. From the beginning, the qualities required to
practice before the IRS were good character, good reputation, competence and qualifications ( Beyond
the Basics. ) Today, those practicing tax or intending to do so need to be aware of a long list of
standards and requirements in order to be compliant with both the IRS, as outlined in Circular 230,
and the standards of the profession as outlined by the AICPA in Statements of Standards for Tax
Services.
Circular 230 covers an extensive list of the requirements, laid out in multiple sections of the Internal
Revenue Code, of being in compliance as a tax preparer and representative before the IRS, from

Bettelheim s Report
While many individuals have made significant contributions to psychoanalysis and the field of
psychology, Sigmund Freud has consistently been referred to as the father of psychoanalysis.
Moreover, his contributions came at a time where mental health treatment was highly primitive and
clinicians lacked insight and awareness about mental health treatments. However, because Freud s
native language was German, some individuals would argue that the true essence of his theories, ideas,
treatments, and concepts were lost once his books, papers, etc. were translated into English and other
languages. Specifically, Bettelheim (1983) explained his perspective about why Freud s work, in his
opinion, lost its true meaning after being translated. Therefore, ... Show more content on

translations of Freud s work, Bettelheim s (1983) approach was hard for me to follow and support.
Specifically, it seemed like he had an alternative motive to make it seem like the American translators
deliberately choose to translate Freud s work differently than the German

The Recent Repatriation Laws Set Up By Egypt And The...
The recent repatriation laws set up by Egypt and the subsequent demands from other nations have
stirred up great debates over who is to have possession over the priceless ancient artifacts. In the last
few decades many countries including Egypt have proclaimed that they want the return of many of
their uncovered artifacts. Egypt s demands stretch from museums in the United States to Europe, with
growing controversy from both sides as to who rightfully owns these historical artifacts. Simply put,
all artifacts discovered in Egypt do technically belong to Egypt. Egyptian museums should have the
right to showcase the history of their ancient predecessors by showcasing the material culture of their
past uncovered from that time. However, the United States along with other Western nations,
particularly England counter their claim by saying that it is in the majorities interest that artifacts from
around the world can be seen in universal museums . That in contrast to the museums in Egypt, a
museum such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art presents to a more diverse audience who can view
and appreciate the value of the greatest of family trees, in which every culture finds its branch . The
argument for universal museums is coupled with the instability of Egypt that results in constant
looting of Egyptian museums. Leaving us with the question of what is the best way to protect our
worlds cultural heritage? Is it best if museums already in possession of ancient artifacts

The Friar s A Friar
Margaret Morrow
Abel
British Literature
27 October 2015
The Friar
A friar is a simple man whose job was to beg from the poor and give to the Roman Catholic Church.
The friar takes as much as one would need to live a humble life and offers the rest for the better of the
church and poor. In the Roman Catholic Church a friar is considered a monk, and therefore expected
to be fair and reserved. However, Chaucer describes the friar, or Hubert, in a sarcastic tone exposing
his corrupt ways to only profiting himself from the poor.
The Friar is a happy and cheerful person, with a pleasant personal demeanor. Although his position in
the clergy limits him to receive his needs by begging within the area he resides, he lives a very lavish
and unrestrained life without cause or reason he does what he wants without regard to anyone else
(208 209). Of the four religious orders he has the smoothest manners and linguistic abilities. Because
of his cheerful disposition and personality he is very well liked in his area and enjoyed performing
weddings and spending time with the ladies; the community was fond of him and especially with the
more affluent and well to do landowners and woman (212 216). He considered himself very good in
the duty of confessional even better than those in the church that that is their sole purpose and duty.
He was fully licensed and took the sins of his community with gentle and kind regard; he freed them
from their sin with compassion and removed all fear

Analysis Of Country Lovers By Nadine Gordiminer
Themes Corresponding Works (Draft)
Ja Anna Godine
ENG 125 Introduction to Literature
Instructor Kurt Mueller
2 October 2014
Comparing Racism and Ethnicity in two literature works, Country Lovers and What it s like to be a
Black Girl we can trace racism from the very first stanza of the poem What it s like to be a Black Girl
and the first paragraph of Country Lovers. In both cases the protagonists are black females who seem
to be facing racial discrimination.
Most societies have small elements of racial discrimination that can be condoned. In fact some
societies are used to racial discrimination. Racial discrimination is more pronounced in minority
communities where it is a recurrent experience. Many countries and states have enacted laws that
prohibit racism in its entirety, but the success of such laws depends on individuals who can either heed
from practicing it or just decide to be hard on others. The short story, Country Lovers written by
Nadine Gordiminer in 1975 best represents racial discrimination during colonial period. The story
revolves around two main characters Thebedi and Paulus. Paulus Eysendyck was a son to a white
settler while Thebedi was a daughter to a Laborer that used to work in Paulus father s farm. Paulus,
being the son of the rich white father had the freedom to play and interact with all other kids that lived
in the farm. But amongst many kids that he encountered, he developed keen interest in Thebedi. A

Sufferation In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl
There are some events in human history that are so devastating that they will be remembered forever.
The Holocaust is one of those events. The brutal genocide during World War II is still being talked
about and analyzed to this day. There are books, movies, and documentaries that attempt to describe
the horrors that took place in the concentration camps. Cynthia Ozick wrote a two part book, entitled
The Shawl, which includes the short story The Shawl and the novella, Rosa. The book as a whole
takes a look at the Holocaust in a different light because it focuses on the story of one person, Rosa,
and how she is affected by the trauma years later. The Shawl describes an experience in a
concentration camp that is both devastating and emotional. Ozick s short story uses vivid imagery to
explore the theme of suffering that victims of the Holocaust endured and how they were able to
survive. In The Shawl, Ozick uses elaborate imagery to describe the suffering that Rosa in particular
experiences. It is common knowledge that victims of the Holocaust faced cruelty and devastation
during World War II. It is interesting how Ozick does not directly say that the setting is a
concentration camp or that this event takes place during the war. Instead, the author uses vivid
imagery to contextualize the situation. For example, Ozick uses imagery to describe the cruel nature of
the living conditions that Rosa and the others had to endure. The very first sentence, Stella, cold, cold,

Of Lerhonda S. Manigault-Bryant s Talking To The Dead
In Talking to the Dead, by LeRhonda S. Manigault Bryant (hereafter referred to as Manigault),
Manigault explores the relatively unobserved yet vital role of Gullah/Geechee women in churches and
society as a whole, as it pertains to the geographic area of the lowcountry in South Carolina. She
addresses the significance of Gullah/Geechee women in preserving the distinct culture of Mt. Pleasant,
James Island, and Moncks Corner. In the name of ethnography, Manigault inserts herself into the
world of these women and assumes the duty of translating certain aspects of their lives to the reader,
so that the reader can better understand, for example, the important role that shouting plays in
lowcountry churches. Throughout the book, Manigault employs ... Show more content on

For instance, in chapter 3, Ah Talk to de Dead All de Time, Manigault lets Yenega tell the story of a
black man who proved his intellectual superiority to a white man in the Gullah dialect, in lieu of
Manigault simply paraphrasing the story herself. Yenega naturally says da instead of the ; ta instead of
to ; and deh instead of there, among other words and their Gullah pronunciations (110 111).
Essentially, Manigault s constant use of the native dialect gives Yenega s story and the book as a
whole a sense of authenticity. Again, Manigault s subtle yet effective characterization of her
interviewees reminds the reader that he or she is reading about real women. If Manigault were to
paraphrase every anecdote relayed by the women, she would neglect to fully tell their stories;
likewise, if she were to let the Gullah/Geechee dialect encompass the entire book, it is arguable that
the reader would lack a proper understanding of the reading. Thus, it is best that Manigault defers to
the women s quotes from time to time, on a wide array of subjects. At the drop of every da, ta, and
deh, the women s distinctive Gullah/Geechee accent floods the pages, accentuates their words, and
compels the reader to truly listen to their

Assessment
Hospital noise is more than an annoyance. It disrupts patient sleep, creates spikes in blood pressure,
and hinders wound healing and pain management. The post partum unit at North Fulton Hospital has
installed a traffic light device that reinforces awareness of the need for a quieter atmosphere by
monitoring the noise level and turning from yellow to red as it rises. Even with this added device,
noise consistently gets the worst marks on patient surveys. Noise reduction efforts really gained
momentum recently, when Medicare began basing a portion of hospital reimbursement on quality
measurements including patient ratings of the quality of care (Landro, 2013). Additional measures
need to be put in place in order to improve quality care by reducing distracting noises. White noise

Amusing Ourselves To Death Chapter 1 Summary
2. According to Amusing Ourselves to Death, Toward the end of the nineteenth century, for reasons I
am most anxious to explain, the Age of Exposition began to pass, and the early signs of its
replacement could be discerned. Its replacement was to be the Age of Show Business (Postman,
Chapter 4 Page # 63 ,). Today as we have entered into that age with the Internet it can grab attention
because it is entertaining and overloading the public with information so they will be involved.
However, we are choosing sound bytes or entertainment over actual knowledge and forgetting it
quickly and on to the next big story. This is the now this effect that Postman discussed, of course, in
television s presentation of the news of the day, we may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And most important of all, there is no subject of public interest politics, news, education, religion, and
science, sports that does not find its way to television. Which means that all public understanding of
these subjects is shaped by the biases of television (Postman, 2005). According to Salon, Postman
shared the idea with Mcluhan that technology is not neutral he said now our truth moves with our
technology advancements. Postman was not just worried about the way we use our technology but
how our technology is using us. Postman made clear where his values were: Some ways of truth
telling are better than others, and therefore have a healthier influence on the cultures that adopt them.
What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no
reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one (Salon). As Postman states,
Tyrants of all varieties have always known about the value of providing the masses with amusements
as a means of pacifying discontent. But most of them could not have even hoped for a situation in
which the masses would ignore that which does not amuse. That is why tyrants have always relied,
and still do, on censorship. Censorship, after all, is the tribute tyrants pay to the assumption that a
public knows the difference between serious discourse and entertainments and cares. Huxley feared

Basic Element of Just in Time
Basic elements of Just In Time
The basic elements of Just In Time (JIT) were developed by Toyota in the 1950 s, known as the
Toyota Production System (TPS). JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the early
1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early adopter), and
the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic elements in Just In time
which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production system, Kanban production
control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality at the source, total production
maintenance and supplier network.
1. Flexible Resources
The Concept of flexible resources, in the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small lots with shorter setup times reduced from hour to minuet and it s increase flexibility to respond
to demand changes. Shingo as a genius at the task reduced setup time on a 1000 ton press from 6
hours to 3 minuets using SMED ( single minute exchange of dies ) system. SMED principle can apply
in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to external setup.
Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in parallel or eliminate
them entirely. 7. Uniform Production
JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on the
final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component production
upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very quickly at some
times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand changes. One way to
reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand through more accurate
forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or smooth demand across the
planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so that the same amount of each
item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in small quantities. 8. Quality at the
Source
Quality has to be extremely high to ensure JIT system to work well. Jidoka is the authority to stop
production line. Visual

Eglin Pkwy Research Papers
Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement
of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain
safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for
such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 499
pedestrian fatalities in 2011, and in 2015 that number had increased to 632, an approximately 27%

advocates for road safety, but a law cannot enforce itself nor can it keep everybody safe. That is why
the use of traffic and road signs is important: they enforce and they protect. For instance, it is a
generally known that you cannot exceed the speed limit of twenty miles per hour inside a school zone;
however, most people wouldn t know that they were in a school zone if there hadn t been a sign that
indicated an entrance into a school zone. In addition, while the majority of drivers are aware that a

Alpen Bank Case
Case Analysis
Alpen Bank: Launching the Credit Card in Romania Case Overview:
In this case Alpen bank s country manager Carle has to make a crucial decision whether or not they
should go for the credit card business in Romania. The bank has to come up with a solid market
strategy that can generate at least €5 million in profit within 2 years. Before bringing this business to
the market the Bank has to analyze whether an opportunity exists for the launch of the credit card or
not. After going to the analysis Carle sees that yes there is the opportunity for credit card business in
this market because in 2006 total financial cards has grown by 35% and there was a lot of card ...

Moreover, as customer base grew, profits of selecting affluent customers only were bigger than those
of selecting both middle class and affluent customers because of the fact that there was significantly
lower card utilization for middle class customers. Thus, in order to successfully launch the credit card
business into Romania, Alpen bank needs to pick its target audience which is composed of affluent
customers only. However, all of these are based on the premise that Alpen can acquire enough
customers within 2 years; otherwise, it will lose money. Nevertheless, there was a promising fact in
the Romania market that those affluent customers were more likely to at least try Alpen s cards.
In its marketing strategy, Alpen should focus more on direct sales and branch cross selling, since their
costs per customer (relatively €3.61 and €2.92) are significant lower than those of other 3 tools.
Moreover, direct sales and branch cross selling will work more efficiently since they have much
higher effective hit rate than the other options regardless the target audience choices. Thus, these tools

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take the time out to greet and thank you everyone
for coming out today. You could have been anywhere in the world but you decided to be here; and I
am ever so grateful for you all having the courage to do so.
We are gathered here today because we all have an urge to fight, we all have this overwhelming
feeling to stress concerns about our current economic and political state of higher education in Illinois.
We all have our different viewpoints about why these happenings are occurring and who we should

It has never been a necessity for you in these connotations. Therefore, perhaps there is not a full
understanding in your camp of what is occurring and what is at stake. Isaac Parker reported that
because of the impasse Chicago State University failed to receive $36 million in state funding last
July, about 30 percent of the school s budget. Another $1.6 million in state funded merit scholarships
and $5 million in state grants to low income students also did not materialize (Park). In over 100
years, a governor in Illinois has not withheld a budget as you continue to do. The actions of your
administration displayed since July 1, 2015, in which by law a budget should have been passed, are un
befitting, unbecoming and ill mannered actions for a person who holds the title of Governor of
Illinois. It is unashamedly discourteous to students, like myself at Chicago State University (CSU) and
others, to punish us for mishaps that occurred before or for which we had little to no control over. As
stated by Dahleen Glanton there are too many potential casualties people on the sidelines who have
done nothing to deserve the pain and suffering thrust onto them (Glanton). Equally, CSU s students are

Childhood Malnutrition Research Paper
Childhood Malnutrition Jonathan Sacks stated Close to a billion people one eighth of the world s
population still live in hunger. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is
happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too
much while others starve. Severe acute malnutrition affects approximately 13 million children under
the age of 5 and is associated with 1 2 million preventable child deaths each year (Collins, S. 2007).
This growing global problem needs to be brought to attention due to the fact that each year many
children become decease from not getting the proper medical attention they are in need of. Child
malnutrition is also considered a part of child abuse by neglect, which is illegal in the United States of
America. Child abuse by neglect is difficult to diagnose when it is not associated with physical
violence but, neglect is in fact involved with food restriction (Piercecchi Marti, M., Louis Borrione,
C., Bartoli, C., Sanvoisin, A., Panuel, M., Pelissier Alicot, A., Leonetti, G. 2006). By definition,
malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of

Essay #1
Epic heroism usually denotes to an individual of highest social class such as great kings or leaders.
Epic heroes are outstanding fighters, sometimes carrying some divine powers. To show his heroic
elements, the hero must confront some supernatural enemies, quests, war, or adversity. The Epic of
Gilgamesh depicts most of these characteristics of epic heroism. The description about his birth to the
journey and adventures in his life meets the characteristics of an epic hero. Although, at some points,
Gilgamesh engages in acts of selfishness and arrogance, I believe he achieves the characteristics of an

There is a certain aspect of epic heroism in his journey to the Utnapishtim and his journey to the
Underworld. His journey to across the water of deaths matches that described in most epic heroic
myths. For example, Gilgamesh travel in the mountains is similar to Odyssey s quest inside the land of
the dead.
Another characteristic of an epic hero is that they receive favor from gods or faces supernatural
enemies. Gilgamesh both receives the help of the sun god and faces the supernatural enemy sent by
Ishtar. Gilgamesh conflicts with the goddess of lovemaking after he rejects her advances for marriage.
Ishtar is most likely attracted to Gilgamesh because of divine characteristics, something that makes
him an epic hero. As seen in most historical literature such as Odyssey, only epic heroes tend to
experience an intimate or face to face relationship with the gods and goddesses.
In addition, an epic hero is expected to return home after completing his quest or adventure. The epic
hero returns with some treasure or various aspect of completeness. Gilgamesh quest was based on
finding his immortality. Instead, he succeeds to understand his divine powers and accepts his
mortality. After the quest, Gilgamesh changes his attitude and gets a heroic burial after his death.

Essay On Gold Rush
Gold Rush in the United States It is amazing how a small gold nugget drew a large mass of miners
into Cherokee Nation s grounds. Most people never associate Georgia and gold. Instead they associate
Georgia with slaves, plantations, and cotton fields. One of the unusual events in the Gold Rush was
the surprising find of gold in Georgia. A three ounce gold nugget was found. People began to search
for gold in the caves. Once more gold was found they began to dig for the precious gold nuggets.
First, gold was found in Georgia records indicate to have been in 1829. John Witheroods found a three
ounce nugget along Duke s Creek in Habersham County (present day) White County . (David
Williams) Others will dispute who actually found the first piece of gold nugget. Some people say it
was a gentlemen from North Carolina, found gold nugget in the same location. There is no concrete
evidence who was the first one to find gold. Once the news reached the surrounding areas and states.
The large number of miners was greater than initially expected to have been. Many Gold Rush towns

George Mccready Price ( Or George Edward Price
George McCready Price (or George Edward Price) was born in 1870 and died in 1963. Price had a
reputation as being an influence on creationism among people he met (Numbers, p. 89). His father
died when George was very young and his mother joined an SDA church on the aftermath of the
Millerite movement and during this period was when Ellen G White began having her visions and
Seventh day Adventism was becoming known as Bible people (Numbers, p.89 90). Ellen G White

go to Battle Creek College to get an education in teaching, but he ran out of funds which force him to
work as a bookseller again but in 1897, he got a job working as a teacher at Tracadie (Numbers p. 91).
This was my first time learning about George Price, I was shocked to read that he married someone

friends with people who were not like Dr. Alfred Smith, who got him to research evolution (Numbers,

Joseph Carens Aliens And Citizens Analysis
James Madison, fourth President of the United States, once said, America was indebted to immigration
for her settlement and prosperity . If we really think about it, everyone who is not Native American is
an immigrant (or has descended from an immigrant). In light of the prosperity of the United States
today, to which immigrants have contributed in no small amount, it is interesting to think about Joseph
Carens idea of open borders.
In Aliens and Citizens: The Case for Open Borders, Carens argues that people should be allowed to

where 9 million of the 22 million people fled to neighboring countries during the civil war, according
to the UN. While this is a one off case, thousands of Mexican citizens try to cross the border into the

Emic Vs Etic Anthropology
In the field of Anthropology there are two small terms that define your work, they are emic and etic .
Inside and outside. Synthesizing and dissecting. When you look at the fields of documentary and
journalism you can see a sketch of the same dichotomy. Like emic and etic anthropology, they may be
different in execution but they do serve a similar purpose; to inform people about the world and what
is happening in it. Documentary being the more emic art, looking at the subject in a holistic and
encompassing way; hoping to inform the audience about the issue at hand. On the flipside, journalism
is etic it takes the boiled down, important information in a compressed form and feeds it to the
audience in order to inform the audience about the issue at hand. As defined by Stephen Smith in his
article, What the Hell is a Radio Documentary? a documentary is a character driven story one which
conveys a rich sense of character and detail or a substantial body of original investigative material.
The emphasis on the depth and detail of knowledge is important when comparing the two forms.

What makes a person who they are is a difficult dilemma. Mark Twain s novel, Pudd nhead Wilson
and Those Extraordinary Twins is a critical analysis of how nature and nurture can cultivate emotions
and free will, which in turn affects the life of individuals. Twain s faltering sense of direction began
about slavery, moral decay, and deceptive realities (Kaplan 314). The debate of `nature versus nurture

Caucasians in the southern states became the superior race and the Negroes became the inferior race,
thus the labels of Master and slave evolved. Virtually all Anthropologists, Scientists, Sociologist,
Psychologists, and scientists agree that there is no credible evidence that supports that one race is
culturally or psychologically different from any other, or that one race is superior to another. Yet
Twain, In Pudd nhead Wilson creates the character Roxy as both races, one physically and one
mentally. Though her features make her appear to white, Her complexion was very fair, with rosy

Industrialization Of America
What factors led to Industrialization of America? Industrialization is growing or development of
industries and factories in a country or region. The United States were far behind most countries in the
1700a 1800s. The US was a young nation and they had no loyalty or respect given to them by any
country at this time. The people of the US wanted change, they wanted respect, and they wanted to be
independent form all of the surrounding countries and civilizations. One of the main things that lead to
the Industrialization of America, was the Embargo Act of 1807. In 1807, Britain began to blockade all

After the war was over, it was time for change. The US couldn t get any of the things they needed
because of the Embargo Act of 1807, which stop mostly all of the trade with foreign nations. This
meant the United States needed things such as tools, parts for newly advanced transportation, and
many other items that people needed to make a living. Samuel Salter saw that the US was needing
change, so he constructed in first British style textile factory in the United States, which was in Rhode
Island. This was booming thing in America because it opened up many jobs. Not only did it open up
jobs, these jobs paid at least two times the amount as a farming job. The formation of the factory and
Industrialization in the United States created something new and far between, the Middling class. The
middle class were the people that were neither rich nor poor. Though the Embargo Act and the War of
1812 were mainly focused on in this essay, there are many other things that caused the Industrial
Revolution. The Embargo Act of 1807 sparked the War of 1812, which sparked the beginning of a
period that would change the world forever. The period of Industrialization in the United States of
America was the greatest thing the country has ever seen. The Industrial revolution worked toward
and even created many new ways of transportation. Many different forms of technology were created

Foreign Market Entry Modes Essay
Why do companies entry foreign Markets? A company may be looking to increase profits and sales.
They can accomplish this by creating new markets in foreign countries or they may increase sales in a
foreign market that is growing faster than the domestic market. Companies also go abroad to protect
their home market. By challenging a competitor in their own market it may prevent that competitor
from challenging a company in its own home market. Thirdly, companies may be going abroad in
search of lower production costs or in search of a guaranteed supply of raw materials. (Ball, Geringer

Opposite to market concentrators, market spreader companies take a more active approach to export
marketing, have a greater focus on sales objectives, and tend to focus less on profitability. The markets
are small and niche markets. Unlike market concentrators, these companies have a greater tolerance to
risk. (Katsikea, Theodosiou et al. 2005) When a company licenses a product or service one firm (the
licensor) will grant to another firm (the licensee) the right to use any kind of expertise such as
manufacturing processes (patented or on unpatented), marketing procedures, and trademarks for one
or more of the licensor s products. (Ball, Geringer et al. 2010) The amount of control a company has
over their product will vary based on the agreement. Granting a license to an unrelated party will offer
the least amount of control where a license can be granted to a wholly owned subsidiary allowing a
company to retain control over the product or service. (Hill, Hwang et al. 1990) An advantage of

National And State Curriculum Standards
National and State Curriculum Standards
Common Core continues to have many teachers in an uproar, but the development of these standards
was to help synchronize curriculum across the United States to ensure that students were college and
career ready once they graduated high school. In 2009, the National Governors Association Center for
Best Practices and Council of Chief State School Officers (2010) were responsible for developing the
Common Core standards. These groups were two private organizations that consisted of 48 state
leaders, two territories, and the District of Columbia.
The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and Council of Chief State School
Officers (2010) states that the actual development of the Common Core standards were completed in
two phases. Phase one of the development of the Common Core standards was the college and career
readiness portion of the standards. The standards were revealed and given and met over allow time for
teachers, parents and school administrators to voice opinions, concerns and make suggestions on how
to improve them. Phase two was to incorporate the final version of the K 12 standards Common Core
which is used today. During this time, the knowledge and participation of teachers were utilized in the
development process. Teachers participated in groups and committees and provided input when the
Common Core standards were being developed.
The traditional state standards and Common Core standards have a

Equality 7-2521 Research Paper
Equality 7 2521: A Lone Scholar Living in a Society of Street Sweepers
Robert Green Ingersoll, a lawyer, Civil War veteran, and political leader, once said that It is a blessed
thing that in every age some one had had the individuality enough and courage enough to stand by his
own convictions. In Ayn Rand s novel Anthem, Equality 7 2521 represents this salient being. Equality
has never been destined to be a street sweeper, instead, it is a sinister motive of the Council that
determines his position. This is proven by several aspects throughout the book, encompassing the idea
that Equality has been set aside from society from a young age, Equality is an individual in a
communistic society, and that the Council has had unjust determinations ... Show more content on

Equality is often locked in the cellar as a child, more so than the other children, for being taller and
more intelligent than his teachers. In Anthem s society, It is not good to be different from [your]
brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them (Rand 21). This saying, told to Equality multiple times by
his teachers for excelling in his lessons, indicates that Equality is evil, for being intelligent. He often
understands the subject matter of his lectures before the teachers have even completed the curriculum.
Equality himself states that No single one can possess greater wisdom than the many Scholars who are
elected by all men for their wisdom. Yet [I] can. [I] do (54). Equality is one of the smartest mortals in
his society, and he even goes so far as to say that he is more intellectual than members of the Home of
the Scholars. Equality s treatment by his teachers justifies that his occupation as a street sweeper was a
sinister motive because his intelligence could lead to him surpassing the influence of the Council, if
citizens decide to depend upon the man bringing them new innovations in science and

Media And Negative Body Image
Body image is a huge issue around the world. It has affected so many teens, adults, and children all
around the world. Since many people are so use to seeing media images,it becomes their basis or their
main idea for how their body should look like. If people don t say anything or speak up, future
generations of body image will get worse, increasing the amount of stress on young children. Body
image is how a person sees themselves in the mirror or how they picture themselves. Our body image
is heavily influenced by society s standards. Although body image contains positive aspects it mainly
weighs itself on the negative aspects. According to the National Eating Disorders Association, You are

Essay on Apostolic Ministry in Rome
Apostolic Ministry in Rome
According to tradition, there are two apostles who ministered in Rome. While some modern scholars
question whether the Apostle Peter was ever in Rome, he is certainly the most celebrated Apostle of
the city. A simple example of this is that the largest basilica in Rome (and one of the largest in the
world) is named in honor of Saint Peter. The Apostle Paul s existence in Rome is less disputed and
even though he is less commemorated nearly two millennia later. The circumstances surrounding Peter
and Paul s arrivals in Rome, their ministries in Rome, and their deaths are worth examining since
these two figures are still remembered nearly two millennia after their ministries in Rome.

This letter implies that the suggestion that Peter had ministered in Rome was common knowledge in
the early second century (Kirsch Sec. IV).? In the middle of the second century, after having spent
time in Rome, Iren›Î of Lyons ?described the Roman Church as the most prominent and chief
preserver of the Apostolic tradition, as ?the greatest and most ancient church, known by all, founded
and organized at Rome by the two most glorious Apostles, Peter and Paul?? (Kirsch Sec. IV).? There
are many other testimonies to Paul and Peter spending time in Rome including the apocryphal Acts of
St. Peter and the Acts of Sts. Peter and Paul.
While Peter?s visit to Rome is primarily mentioned in extra Biblical literature, Paul?s visit to Rome is
mentioned in some of his epistles and in Acts.? During his third missionary journey, Paul?s ministry to
Rome has clearly already begun even before he has ever traveled there.? While at Corinth, he writes to
the Roman Church in view of his intention to go to Spain because the gospel had yet to be preached
there.? Paul also states that another intention of his is to stay for a time in Rome (Romans 15:14ff, 24,
28).? This comes about through a different series of events than one might expect.? Paul, unlike Peter,
is a Roman citizen.? After being falsely accused by Jewish leaders of Jerusalem and subsequently two

Lomu Speech
Jonah Lomu Speech
To be a giant of a man, to have an enormous heart and to be an inspiration to all that he meets; Jonah
Lomu is a true leader among men.
A New Zealander of Tongan decent Jonah was born on the 12 May 1975 and grew up in the tough
suburbs of South Auckland where he could have ended up in serious trouble if he hadn t been given
the discipline, academic focus and sporting opportunities that he received while attending Wesley
College. At College Jonah s sporting talents became very obvious, he smashed many athletic records
and despite his large size he has blistering pace; covering 100 meters in 10.8 sec, which would even be
a very respectable time next to Usan Bolts world record of 9.58. He played rugby for the first XV for

the field; to his sportsmanship and support of others is something to be admired, and since his
retirement Jonah has become the Ambassador for UNICEF and many other charities. As well as
becoming a member of the Champions for Peace club (a group of 54 elite athletes committed to
serving peace in the world through sport). Jonah also takes on many public speaking and mentoring
roles and in 2007 was awarded The Member of the Order of New Zealand for his services to Rugby an
award well deserved.
Finally Jonah underwent a kidney transplant in Auckland hospital. But he didn t let that hold him back
from reaching his dream of being able to play the game he loves so much, and in 2005 Jonah played
his rugby comeback game in England and signed a deal with French Club Marseilles in 2009. As well
as the many charities and mentoring Jonah in is involved in he is today still one of the leading

Soviet Family Code and Women
Reproductive rights and daycare became capital in soviet society as more and more women were
entering the workforce and receiving an education. The direct influence of the early Soviet Rule on
women s employment was modest as the foundations for the professionalization of women had been
laid on decades before the October 1917 Revolution. Furthermore, the two World Wars greatly
impacted women employment by opening up new fields for them.
The Industrial Revolution of the end of the nineteenth century marked the first massive entry of
women in the industrial workforce. Indeed, they provided an inexpensive supply of unskilled labor
(Lapidus 1978). Women primarily worked in the industry, with an emphasis on textile and garments
which were respectively 68% and 80% women dominated fields in 1932, (Heitlinger 1979). Women
also represented the majority of education, sciences and scientifical services employees, representing
between 54% and 58% of the labor force between 1929 and 1940 (Sacks 1977). World War I by
draining young able bodied men emptied factories and gave the opportunity to women to access male
dominated fields ( from 26.6 percent of the workforce in 1914, the proportion of women in the
industry as a whole rose to 43.2% by 1917 (Engel 2004)).
The predominance of women in education can be explained by the dramatic increase of access to
education for women between the end of the nineteenth century and 1917. Before the Revolution,
education was gender segregated.

Human Nature And Awareness Toward Environmental Protection
Many individuals are unaware of the harm that they cause to our planet. We live in a society where we
eat and use electricity without knowing where it comes from or what damage it might cause to our
planet. We have needs that do no make sense to the rest of the world. While some of us enjoy our
luxurious meals, other individuals are given little choice. Richer countries have been accustomed to
the point where many are unaware of the problems that they cause. The ecological footprint is a very
good tool to show us how we use our nature and raise awareness toward environmental protection.
After taking my ecological footprint quiz I was surprised that my results were so poor. I think of
myself who is environmentally stable. I do not litter by throwing garbage on the streets, I even pick up
any garbage that I see thrown in sanitary places. My ecological footprint said that we would need 4.6
planets earths to provide enough resources if everyone lived like me. This quiz educated me that I am
not environmentally friendly as I think I am. Also, in order to support my lifestyle it takes about 22.6
tons of carbon dioxide. My main cause to this planet is my consumption of energy. Usually I drive
about 70 miles everyday because I commute to school. I never realized how much energy that takes
until now. Driving is one of the most polluting things that we do especially here in the United States.
Consumption of gasoline can release toxic wastes that can cause air pollution, which

How Significant Was The New Deal
How Significant was the New Deal for the USA?
There were numerous factors brought up, questioning whether or not the New Deal was in fact
beneficial for the whole of America. Many say no, as it was followed by a handful of other issues,
such as inflation, national debt, and unemployment. On the contrary, I will be arguing that it was, in
many ways, helpful for their economy of the US, due to the benefits regarding human rights, standard
of living, and the citizen s overall happiness.
One of the many factors in which the New Deal was seen as beneficial would definitely be the
recognition of various human rights, including rights for Women, Blacks and Native Indians, as well
as workers in Trade Unions. This showed the citizens how much Roosevelt cared for everyone in the
country, speaking and acting for the minorities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

during the late 1920s, The Indian Reorganisation Act of 1934 was established. To assure them that they

allowed tribes to buy and protect their land from individuals. This increased the amount they spent in
things such as businesses, land and farming tools and machinery. The land they owned increased by a
whopping number of 3 million acres. In addition, they were then encouraged to practise their cultural
and religious traditions, which was the complete opposite of how they were treated in the late

  • 3. My Problems In My Life They say, Life s a journey with problems to solve, lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to enjoy. We go through a lot of things in this journey, sometimes having cheerful moments, however, sometimes with very melancholy times, It is all about learning new stuffs and applying it to our daily basis. Being a 14 year old girl, I ve had quite a bit of problems in my journey; one of the most heartbreaking and distressed moment in my life was when i had to go through anxiety. Generally speaking, being a kindergartner and not knowing what anxiety is totally normal. In fact, I was the exact same; I barely knew what anxiety was when I was a kid. To being with, kindergarten was a long road for me. I barely even had any friends; most of the girls used to leave me unaccompanied. I remember the day when I was new and was desperate to make new friends. Happily and smiling, I went to this group of girls. They looked nice but who knew how they were from the inside. Personally, I was a tomboy, a girl with short hair, who used to wear pants and shirts with marvel character logos. But the girls were way different, they were girly girls with long beautiful hair who wore pretty dresses and clothes. That must have been the main difference between them and me. I tried to introduce myself, and said Hi!, but all I got was a disgusted look in the faces that were staring at me from head to toe with whispers that were supposed to be silent but I still could hear them. • 4. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Religion Research Religious truths can be revealed in different ways such as through symbolic language, images, and statements. God is believed to be much greater than we can possibly imagine, as defined by philosopher Anselm (1033 1109) That which nothing greater can be conceived . It can be difficult to use our own language as a way of describing God and his attributes. The complexity of talking about God is shown in the quote, God can be thought about more truly than he can be talked about, and he is more truly than he can be thought about (De Trinitate On the Trinity ). In my discussion I will put forward different approaches of Aquinas, Ramsey, Maimonides and other philosophers to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of symbolic language about God Religious language is either analogical or equivocal. Thomas Aquinas and Ian Ramsey believed the analogical approach and thought there were similarities between the words we use in ordinary language and the words we use to describe God. Aquinas recognised that words do not have the same meaning when applied to God being infinite, but are univocal to a certain extent. As there is a true correspondence. E.g. God is good , we can understand what this means from our understanding of good although it might not be as great. With this, Aquinas then developed his theory of proportion. Within which he recognises that statements about God are qualitatively greater than statements about humans. Although his theory does seem to suggest that our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where it came from? What it s made with? If there are any harmful chemicals? Those are of course legitimate concerns because that would be pretty scary to eat food that may just stab you in the back. Have you ever worried about an incurable infection being in your food, though? It s not a common thought, but actually the feeding of antibiotics to food producing animals is causing incurable infections and deaths throughout the entire world. If your doctor has ever given, or will give you antibiotics, the misuse, the wrong dosage, and even the wrongful prescription of antibiotics, such as for a virus, can eventually contribute to making a superbug, again according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 February 2017, para. 2 5). There are already many instances of superbugs taking people s lives. For example, just this January 2017, the CDC reported that a Washoe County resident in Reno, Nevada died in late September 2016 because she had an infection from a superbug that could not be cured by every available antibiotic in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 August 2017, para. 1 5). On that same website, posted by her parents, a 19 year old college student, Meredith LittleJohn, died to a superbug after spending time in an intensive care unit in a hospital (Infectious Diseases Society of America, n.d., para. 1 3). • 7. Negative Effects Of Social Networking Student Answer: The use of social networking comes with mixed reviews because this tool can be used to both grow a company and potentially harm a company . Companies that utilize social networks can benefit form the influx of customers. Using social network platforms allow the customer to reach millions of customers. ` The viral nature of social networking encourages all the people who are connected to you to share what they like, plan to attend, or want to participate in` (Minerof, 2010). In the case of Facebook, you can see the pages, companies, campaigns, and events your friends like and plan to participate in . Seeing these actives on your time line most times lead you to also look at the company. These is a great marketing tool. `Social networking does have its pitfalls` (Minerof, 2010).Companies that allow their employees to access Facebook may be creating opportunities for unethical practice, especially when employees overly engage during work hours. Employees can sometimes over engage in infrequent status updates, game applications and viewing online images and videos. Blurring the lines between personal and business use (Minerof, 2010). Allowing employees to use social networks for work related activities causes distractions from social media that makes the negative impact of such media on productivity to outweigh the benefits (Minerof, 2010). • 9. Essay on Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Symbolism in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman is wrought with symbolism from the opening scene. Many symbols illustrate the themes of success and failure. They include the apartment buildings, the rubber hose, Willy s brother Ben, the tape recorder, and the seeds for the garden. These symbols represent Willy s attempts to be successful and his impending failure. When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed form the city. Willy was young and strong and he believed he had a future full of success. He and his sons cut the tree limbs that threatened his home and put up a hammock that he would enjoy with his children. The green fields ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His wife Linda, who finds the hose, knows what he was going to do with it, as does Biff. When confronted by Biff, Willy not only denies that he was going to use the hose, but also denies ever seeing it before. Instead of being remembered as a successful businessman who died, Willy is seen by his family as a failure who cannot even commit suicide or tell the truth. Willy s brother Ben seems to symbolize all of Willy s dreams that have not borne fruit. Ben provides an example of the type of success that Willy desires. Ben went into the jungle with nothing and became extremely wealthy. Ben achieved in a few years what Willy has dreamed about his entire life. Ben also provides additional evidence on the foolish behavior and poor decisions made by Willy. Ben offers to take Willy with him and make him rich an offer that Willy declines. Another important symbol is Howard s tape recorder. It represents the many material objects wealthy businessmen could provide for their families and for themselves. Willy wanted this lifestyle; he wanted something he could lay his hands on (Miller pg. ). It would not be enough to just be successful; Willy wanted to be able to show people material representations of his success. The tape recorder shows that Howard has reached this level of success. Yet while the recorder symbolizes the wealth and power of Howard, it also represents Willy s discouragement and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Ethics And Legal Implications Of The Internal Revenue... The complexity of the Internal Revenue Code has been the source of genuine concern, standup jokes, and political theater for years, but its greatest effect on practitioners of tax is to create a myriad of complicated gray areas and thorny questions that are not quickly resolved to a neat yes or no answer. This ambiguity has resulted in a situation where the ethical and legal implications of tax practice are serious considerations for any professional who is engaging in this line of work. Since 1881, U.S.C. 31 has regulated who can represent other people to the Treasury Department, which encompasses the IRS. This representation, called practice before the IRS, includes not just representation in court, but also all forms of communication on behalf of the taxpayer, including written documentation, phone calls, and interviews. From the beginning, the qualities required to practice before the IRS were good character, good reputation, competence and qualifications ( Beyond the Basics. ) Today, those practicing tax or intending to do so need to be aware of a long list of standards and requirements in order to be compliant with both the IRS, as outlined in Circular 230, and the standards of the profession as outlined by the AICPA in Statements of Standards for Tax Services. Circular 230 covers an extensive list of the requirements, laid out in multiple sections of the Internal Revenue Code, of being in compliance as a tax preparer and representative before the IRS, from standard ... • 11. Bettelheim s Report While many individuals have made significant contributions to psychoanalysis and the field of psychology, Sigmund Freud has consistently been referred to as the father of psychoanalysis. Moreover, his contributions came at a time where mental health treatment was highly primitive and clinicians lacked insight and awareness about mental health treatments. However, because Freud s native language was German, some individuals would argue that the true essence of his theories, ideas, treatments, and concepts were lost once his books, papers, etc. were translated into English and other languages. • 12. The Recent Repatriation Laws Set Up By Egypt And The... The recent repatriation laws set up by Egypt and the subsequent demands from other nations have stirred up great debates over who is to have possession over the priceless ancient artifacts. In the last few decades many countries including Egypt have proclaimed that they want the return of many of their uncovered artifacts. Egypt s demands stretch from museums in the United States to Europe, with growing controversy from both sides as to who rightfully owns these historical artifacts. Simply put, all artifacts discovered in Egypt do technically belong to Egypt. Egyptian museums should have the right to showcase the history of their ancient predecessors by showcasing the material culture of their past uncovered from that time. However, the United States along with other Western nations, particularly England counter their claim by saying that it is in the majorities interest that artifacts from around the world can be seen in universal museums . That in contrast to the museums in Egypt, a museum such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art presents to a more diverse audience who can view and appreciate the value of the greatest of family trees, in which every culture finds its branch . The argument for universal museums is coupled with the instability of Egypt that results in constant looting of Egyptian museums. Leaving us with the question of what is the best way to protect our worlds cultural heritage? Is it best if museums already in possession of ancient artifacts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two surveys were commissioned, an employee satisfaction survey and a climate survey from these two surveys we were able to ascertain where some of the problems can occur within the ranks of CrysTel. • 14. The Friar s A Friar Margaret Morrow Abel British Literature 27 October 2015 The Friar A friar is a simple man whose job was to beg from the poor and give to the Roman Catholic Church. The friar takes as much as one would need to live a humble life and offers the rest for the better of the church and poor. In the Roman Catholic Church a friar is considered a monk, and therefore expected to be fair and reserved. However, Chaucer describes the friar, or Hubert, in a sarcastic tone exposing his corrupt ways to only profiting himself from the poor. The Friar is a happy and cheerful person, with a pleasant personal demeanor. Although his position in the clergy limits him to receive his needs by begging within the area he resides, he lives a very lavish and unrestrained life without cause or reason he does what he wants without regard to anyone else (208 209). Of the four religious orders he has the smoothest manners and linguistic abilities. Because of his cheerful disposition and personality he is very well liked in his area and enjoyed performing weddings and spending time with the ladies; the community was fond of him and especially with the more affluent and well to do landowners and woman (212 216). He considered himself very good in the duty of confessional even better than those in the church that that is their sole purpose and duty. Analysis Of Country Lovers By Nadine Gordiminer Themes Corresponding Works (Draft) Ja Anna Godine ENG 125 Introduction to Literature Instructor Kurt Mueller 2 October 2014 Comparing Racism and Ethnicity in two literature works, Country Lovers and What it s like to be a Black Girl we can trace racism from the very first stanza of the poem What it s like to be a Black Girl and the first paragraph of Country Lovers. In both cases the protagonists are black females who seem to be facing racial discrimination. Most societies have small elements of racial discrimination that can be condoned. In fact some societies are used to racial discrimination. Racial discrimination is more pronounced in minority communities where it is a recurrent experience. Many countries and states have enacted laws that prohibit racism in its entirety, but the success of such laws depends on individuals who can either heed from practicing it or just decide to be hard on others. The short story, Country Lovers written by Nadine Gordiminer in 1975 best represents racial discrimination during colonial period. The story revolves around two main characters Thebedi and Paulus. Paulus Eysendyck was a son to a white settler while Thebedi was a daughter to a Laborer that used to work in Paulus father s farm. • 16. Sufferation In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl There are some events in human history that are so devastating that they will be remembered forever. The Holocaust is one of those events. The brutal genocide during World War II is still being talked about and analyzed to this day. There are books, movies, and documentaries that attempt to describe the horrors that took place in the concentration camps. Cynthia Ozick wrote a two part book, entitled The Shawl, which includes the short story The Shawl and the novella, Rosa. The book as a whole takes a look at the Holocaust in a different light because it focuses on the story of one person, Rosa, and how she is affected by the trauma years later. The Shawl describes an experience in a concentration camp that is both devastating and emotional. Ozick s short story uses vivid imagery to explore the theme of suffering that victims of the Holocaust endured and how they were able to survive. In The Shawl, Ozick uses elaborate imagery to describe the suffering that Rosa in particular experiences. It is common knowledge that victims of the Holocaust faced cruelty and devastation during World War II. It is interesting how Ozick does not directly say that the setting is a concentration camp or that this event takes place during the war. Instead, the author uses vivid imagery to contextualize the situation. For example, Ozick uses imagery to describe the cruel nature of the living conditions that Rosa and the others had to endure. She addresses the significance of Gullah/Geechee women in preserving the distinct culture of Mt. Pleasant, James Island, and Moncks Corner. In the name of ethnography, Manigault inserts herself into the world of these women and assumes the duty of translating certain aspects of their lives to the reader, so that the reader can better understand, for example, the important role that shouting plays in lowcountry churches. Throughout the book, Manigault employs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in chapter 3, Ah Talk to de Dead All de Time, Manigault lets Yenega tell the story of a black man who proved his intellectual superiority to a white man in the Gullah dialect, in lieu of Manigault simply paraphrasing the story herself. Yenega naturally says da instead of the ; ta instead of to ; and deh instead of there, among other words and their Gullah pronunciations (110 111). Essentially, Manigault s constant use of the native dialect gives Yenega s story and the book as a whole a sense of authenticity. Again, Manigault s subtle yet effective characterization of her interviewees reminds the reader that he or she is reading about real women. If Manigault were to paraphrase every anecdote relayed by the women, she would neglect to fully tell their stories; likewise, if she were to let the Gullah/Geechee dialect encompass the entire book, it is arguable that the reader would lack a proper understanding of the reading. Thus, it is best that Manigault defers to the women s quotes from time to time, on a wide array of subjects. At the drop of every da, ta, and deh, the women s distinctive Gullah/Geechee accent floods the pages, accentuates their words, and compels the reader to truly listen to their ... Nr 452 White Noise Barriers Research Paper Noise Barriers: White Noise NR 452 Erika Howe Chamberlain College of Nursing Professor Anthony Young White Noise in Post Partum Assessment Hospital noise is more than an annoyance. It disrupts patient sleep, creates spikes in blood pressure, and hinders wound healing and pain management. The post partum unit at North Fulton Hospital has installed a traffic light device that reinforces awareness of the need for a quieter atmosphere by monitoring the noise level and turning from yellow to red as it rises. Even with this added device, noise consistently gets the worst marks on patient surveys. Its replacement was to be the Age of Show Business (Postman, Chapter 4 Page # 63 ,). Postman made clear where his values were: Some ways of truth telling are better than others, and therefore have a healthier influence on the cultures that adopt them. What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one (Salon). As Postman states, Tyrants of all varieties have always known about the value of providing the masses with amusements as a means of pacifying discontent. But most of them could not have even hoped for a situation in which the masses would ignore that which does not amuse. That is why tyrants have always relied, and still do, on censorship. JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the early 1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early adopter), and the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic elements in Just In time which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production system, Kanban production control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality at the source, total production maintenance and supplier network. 1. Shingo as a genius at the task reduced setup time on a 1000 ton press from 6 hours to 3 minuets using SMED ( single minute exchange of dies ) system. SMED principle can apply in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to external setup. Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in parallel or eliminate them entirely. 7. Uniform Production JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on the final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component production upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very quickly at some times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand changes. One way to reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand through more accurate forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or smooth demand across the planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so that the same amount of each item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in small quantities. 8. Nurture in Mark Twain s Pudd nhead Wilson and Those Extraordinary Twins What makes a person who they are is a difficult dilemma. Mark Twain s novel, Pudd nhead Wilson and Those Extraordinary Twins is a critical analysis of how nature and nurture can cultivate emotions and free will, which in turn affects the life of individuals. Twain s faltering sense of direction began about slavery, moral decay, and deceptive realities (Kaplan 314). The debate of `nature versus nurture has been one of the most intriguing scientific and cultural issues for most of the twentieth century, in determining the behavioral aspects of human beings. Caucasians in the southern states became the superior race and the Negroes became the inferior race, thus the labels of Master and slave evolved. Virtually all Anthropologists, Scientists, Sociologist, Psychologists, and scientists agree that there is no credible evidence that supports that one race is culturally or psychologically different from any other, or that one race is superior to another. Yet Twain, In Pudd nhead Wilson creates the character Roxy as both races, one physically and one mentally. Though her features make her appear to white, Her complexion was very fair, with rosy glow of vigorous health in her cheeks, her face was full of character and expression, her eyes were brown and liquid, and she had a heavy suit of fine soft hair which was also brown (Twain 9). To all intents and purposes Roxy was as white as anybody, but the one sixteenth of her which was black outvoted the other fifteen parts and made her a Negro (Brand 308). Environment can influence some personality traits, while others are genetic. The nature theory, heredity, determines such traits as eye and hair color, due to specific genes passed down from generation to generation. With the emergence of scientific studies of DNA, many scientists are finding more traits can also be associated with human cell encoding, such as intelligence, personality, aggression, ... The people of the US wanted change, they wanted respect, and they wanted to be independent form all of the surrounding countries and civilizations. One of the main things that lead to the Industrialization of America, was the Embargo Act of 1807. In 1807, Britain began to blockade all of the United States ports. After the war was over, it was time for change. The US couldn t get any of the things they needed because of the Embargo Act of 1807, which stop mostly all of the trade with foreign nations. This meant the United States needed things such as tools, parts for newly advanced transportation, and many other items that people needed to make a living. Samuel Salter saw that the US was needing change, so he constructed in first British style textile factory in the United States, which was in Rhode Island. This was booming thing in America because it opened up many jobs. Not only did it open up jobs, these jobs paid at least two times the amount as a farming job. The formation of the factory and Industrialization in the United States created something new and far between, the Middling class. The middle class were the people that were neither rich nor poor. Though the Embargo Act and the War of 1812 were mainly focused on in this essay, there are many other things that caused the Industrial Revolution. • 39. Foreign Market Entry Modes Essay Why do companies entry foreign Markets? A company may be looking to increase profits and sales. They can accomplish this by creating new markets in foreign countries or they may increase sales in a foreign market that is growing faster than the domestic market. Companies also go abroad to protect their home market. By challenging a competitor in their own market it may prevent that competitor from challenging a company in its own home market. Thirdly, companies may be going abroad in search of lower production costs or in search of a guaranteed supply of raw materials. Equality 7-2521 Research Paper Equality 7 2521: A Lone Scholar Living in a Society of Street Sweepers Robert Green Ingersoll, a lawyer, Civil War veteran, and political leader, once said that It is a blessed thing that in every age some one had had the individuality enough and courage enough to stand by his own convictions. In Ayn Rand s novel Anthem, Equality 7 2521 represents this salient being. Equality has never been destined to be a street sweeper, instead, it is a sinister motive of the Council that determines his position. In Anthem s society, It is not good to be different from [your] brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them (Rand 21). This saying, told to Equality multiple times by his teachers for excelling in his lessons, indicates that Equality is evil, for being intelligent. He often understands the subject matter of his lectures before the teachers have even completed the curriculum. Equality himself states that No single one can possess greater wisdom than the many Scholars who are elected by all men for their wisdom. Yet [I] can. [I] do (54). Equality is one of the smartest mortals in his society, and he even goes so far as to say that he is more intellectual than members of the Home of the Scholars. While some modern scholars question whether the Apostle Peter was ever in Rome, he is certainly the most celebrated Apostle of the city. The Apostle Paul s existence in Rome is less disputed and even though he is less commemorated nearly two millennia later. • 46. Soviet Family Code and Women Reproductive rights and daycare became capital in soviet society as more and more women were entering the workforce and receiving an education. The direct influence of the early Soviet Rule on women s employment was modest as the foundations for the professionalization of women had been laid on decades before the October 1917 Revolution. Furthermore, the two World Wars greatly impacted women employment by opening up new fields for them. The Industrial Revolution of the end of the nineteenth century marked the first massive entry of women in the industrial workforce. Indeed, they provided an inexpensive supply of unskilled labor (Lapidus 1978). Women primarily worked in the industry, with an emphasis on textile and garments which were respectively 68% and 80% women dominated fields in 1932, (Heitlinger 1979). Women also represented the majority of education, sciences and scientifical services employees, representing between 54% and 58% of the labor force between 1929 and 1940 (Sacks 1977). World War I by draining young able bodied men emptied factories and gave the opportunity to women to access male dominated fields ( from 26.6 percent of the workforce in 1914, the proportion of women in the industry as a whole rose to 43.2% by 1917 (Engel 2004)). The predominance of women in education can be explained by the dramatic increase of access to education for women between the end of the nineteenth century and 1917. Before the Revolution, education was gender segregated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some of us enjoy our luxurious meals, other individuals are given little choice. Richer countries have been accustomed to the point where many are unaware of the problems that they cause. The ecological footprint is a very good tool to show us how we use our nature and raise awareness toward environmental protection. After taking my ecological footprint quiz I was surprised that my results were so poor. I think of myself who is environmentally stable. I do not litter by throwing garbage on the streets, I even pick up any garbage that I see thrown in sanitary places. On the contrary, I will be arguing that it was, in many ways, helpful for their economy of the US, due to the benefits regarding human rights, standard of living, and the citizen s overall happiness. One of the many factors in which the New Deal was seen as beneficial would definitely be the recognition of various human rights, including rights for Women, Blacks and Native Indians, as well as workers in Trade Unions.
