An Analysis of quot; The Sun Rising, quot; by John Donne...
The Sun Rising, by John Donne, is a lyric poem about two lovers. The poem is divided into three
stanzas, each ten lines long. The rhyme scheme in each stanza is ABBACDCDEE. This is a dramatic
poem where the speaker and his lover are in bed together. The speaker personifies the sun, and is
speaking to it throughout the poem. As the sunlight comes through the windows, the speaker tells the
sun to leave them alone. He seems to feel that their life together is complete, and that the sun is being
a nuisance. He then tells the sun that his lover is worth more than anything the sun can ever find
outside their bedroom.
The sunrise has provoked the speaker to speak. The sun is symbolic of an intruder. Although the
speaker acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gets right to the point of the poem in the very first sentence, maybe because the sun has woken him
up, and he wants his readers to think that this was the very first thing on his mind.
In the second stanza, the speaker s tone becomes more insulting and modest. He attacks the sunshine
by pointing out that he can cut the sun out of his life by closing his eyes. Even though he is being
arrogant, he is forced to admit that without the sun, he would not be able to see his lover. His attitude
then seems to change again when he says, If her eyes have not blinded thine. From this point on, he
focuses less on the sun and more on his lover and their situation together. He is saying that his lover
and himself are the center of the world.
As we move on to the third stanza, the speaker s conceit continues. The first two lines imply that the
lovers are every state, everywhere. He says, and all princes, I, nothing else. He seems to believe that
he has all control. When the speaker says, Princes do but play us....All wealth alchemy, he believes
that nothing or no one else matters besides him and his lover. At the end of the third stanza, the
speaker decides that since nothing else matters in the world, the sun should only shine in the room
containing him and his lover, Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere: This bed thy center is, these
walls, thy

The Legalization Of Drugs Should Be Legal
The legalization of drugs has been an issue in society for quite a long time. People who are for and
against the legalization of drugs can be very opinionated in their beliefs. Often times, some of these
people on both sides of the argument can even be considered extremists. These disagreements vary
quite a bit across the spectrum. Milton Friedman, someone who is for the legalization of drugs, argues
that A user must associate with criminals to [sic] get the drugs, and many are driven to become
criminals themselves . . . (569). On the contrary, drugs can cause very serious health problems and due
to their destructive nature, they can destroy not only the user, but their family and loved ones as well.
Milton s point reinforces the idea to make drugs legal. However, to make drugs legal can have serious
problems. Health concerns, for instance, can be a major factor if we decide to legalize drugs. There are
also major benefits to make drugs illegal. I stand against the idea to make drugs legal; it can lead to
harmful consequences and regret. My friend who had tried marijuana for the first time, did not have a
satisfying experience afterward. He had non stop panic attacks, which made him worry about
everything. Almost any kind of drug can have adverse effects on people which are major health
concerns to worry about. Pregnant women that use drugs like cocaine or heroin have already hindered
or even caused death to the life of their child. Children exposed to drugs in

Self-Realization In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Learning can also be a form of self realization this what the creature finds out that due to his
appearance people will not trust him. The creature randomly seeing a young girl in distress as she falls
into a river. He does the right thing as he decides to help her but, it gets him a lot of trouble with a
random man. The man assume because of the creature s appearance that he was harming the girl. We
can see the moment that the man does this in the following passage: On seeing me, he darted towards
me, and tearing the girl from my arms hastened towards the deeper parts of the wood (99). The
creature has not learn yet that his appearance will scare people because he does this again with old

My Career As A Purpose Of A Zoologist
The career I am pursing is Zoology, which requires a degree in Biology. I chose this career due to my
passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch I
would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research that
will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies wildlife,
the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the behavior of
animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a Zoologist is to
experiment, research and study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a controlled area.
Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how species work in life. The
skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have found in myself. Of course, the
interest of researching animas is the most important. But you also need communication skills, a strong
logical problem solving approach, keen observation skills, and can independently or as a team.
Majority of those skills I possess but could continue to improve on. The profession appeals to me
because of my love for animals mostly. I have been interested in animals as a young child and I
actually prefer animals over people. I m caring enough to dedicate my time when I m older to wildlife
and wildlife projects. What else interests me about animals is how they

Billy Pilgrim Thesis
Beloved Husband, Father, U.S. veteran and prisoner of war WW2. Ilium, New York Billy Pilgrim, 53,
of Ilium, New York, beloved husband of late Valencia Pilgrim, and father of Barbara and Robert
Pilgrim, was assassinated on February 13th after speaking before an audience in Chicago. Pilgrim left
a safety deposit box with a tape, that begins with I, Billy Pilgrim, will die, have died, and always will
die on February thirteenth, 1976 (180). Billy Pilgrim was born, the son to a barber, on the fourth of
July, 1922 in Ilium, New York. He graduated from Ilium High School in the upper third of his class,
and attended night sessions at the Ilium School of Optometry for one semester before being drafted for
military service in the Second World War (30). Billy worked as a chaplain s assistance on the front
lines in Germany. At the Battle of the Bulge, Billy and a few others from his infantry wandered behind
German lines. Billy and one other were captured by the Germans, while the two scouts they had
travelled with were shot dead. In 1945, the prisoners were transported to Dresden for labor. Billy and
one hundred other American prisoners of war witnessed and survived the bombing of Dresden. Billy

Symbolism In The Film, All-Heart
Symbolism is abundant within the film. Ray has created his own start up company called All Heart,
which focuses primarily on working with other companies to, for example, make necessary
medications more affordable. The symbol for his company is visible in various places within the
Embrey household, in Ray s workplace, and plays a major role toward the end when Hancock projects
the logo onto the moon for everyone to see. The logo itself symbolizes the importance of becoming a
good citizen and emphasizes working diligently to improve the quality of the world this is precisely
what Hancock attempted to do throughout the film, and his final gesture is an homage to his own
character development. The weather also plays a heavily symbolic role in establishing the mood.
Whenever Hancock is on a potentially destructive path, a storm begins to swirl above him, darkening
both the lighting and the mood of the film. The storms essentially symbolize Hancock s future when
choosing to selfishly go against society. Finally, a symbol of an eagle is shown to the audience several
times Hancock s hat at the beginning and suit toward the end both feature an eagle, and he spends

The audience is introduced to Ray from a low camera angle to emphasize his power. Although not the
typical figure of strength, this initial representation is consistent with the theme of the film and its
focus on being a good person who does not attempt to go against fate because Ray is essentially the
most moral character in the film. He proves himself to be a foil to Hancock with his immense focus on
improving the world around him. The director employs a subjective shot when Hancock leaves the
Embrey s household for the first time, primarily functioning to allow the audience to temporarily view
the world from Hancock s eyes. Viewing the neighborhood from such an angle shows

What Does The Button Baby Mean In The Great Gatsby
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24, 1896. He is famous
for many short stories, many taking place during the Jazz Age and one specifically is The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button (Bruccoli 1). It is a work on which a baby is born an old man and ages
backwards. Fitzgerald wrote that he was inspired to write it by a remark made by Mark Twain: It is a
pity that the best part of life comes at the beginning, and the worst part at the end (Lanham 1). In this
short story no one attempts to discover the reason for Benjamin s condition or find a cure. Throughout
his life he battles society and the social norms of the world. The Button baby is born in 1860, at a time
when most children were born at home. Fitzgerald starts off the short story by saying, I shall tell ...

Button goes out to buy clothing for Benjamin who he still has not named and calls him Methuselah
which is the longest lived man in the bible (Lean 1). It says But a frantic inspection of the boys
department revealed no suits to fit the new born Button. He blamed the store, of course in such cases it
is the thing to blame the store (Fitzgerald 7). He acted as if the store clerk that helped him find the
boys section knew his shameful secret . Not acting as Mr. Button pleases at home, he will not except
any warm milk and will not play with his toy rattle. Benjamin is obviously not your typical baby, not
that long after he is born he starts to sneak his father s Havana cigars and reads the encyclopedia. His
father tries setting him up on play dates, which he does not like. Benjamin best friend for the
beginning part of his life is his grand father because no one else would talk to him. His parents try
sending him to kindergarten and he is kicked out for he keeps falling asleep. Ultimately no matter how
hard Mr. Button believes his son is normal which he is not and has fatuous silent agreement with
himself to believe in his son s normality (Fitzgerald

Media Influence On Elections
Media is known as the king maker for many reasons, such as shaping candidates in audience s
perspective. Television has been a big influence in shaping voters choice and labeling political parties,
even though some believe media information can be scant in regards to candidates. Media can be
anything from television to social media networks and how many people think that media is a great
influence, some also think it can be a problem. It only takes 140 characters to damage a political
campaign in which Smith is referring to social media as being a problem. (Smith, K. 2011. Pg. 9) At
the state and local levels party affiliation remains the most important. In television age, journalist

Appearances on entertainment shows, gives candidates an escape from the highly critical national
press to a much more friendlier environment for them. A great example would be interviews on
Comedy Central s The Daily Show or Colbert Report. Another beneficial outlet for campaigns is
social websites that were mainly used in the 2008 election and continued through 2012 elections. For
example, nearly six million people viewed the New York Time s posting of the first Obama Romney
debate on YouTube . (Dunaway Graber. 2009. Pg. 316) In 2012 the Obama campaign turned to Twitter
to target direct messages to voters and contributors, they also had more than sixteen million e mail
addresses. Others sources of direct social media that campaigns use are candidate sponsored websites,
campaign websites, and special interest pages for groups such as senior citizens, veterans, college
students, or young

Does Toothpaste Expire Essay
Does Toothpaste Expire? Some people have the habit of buying more items than they need from the
grocery, especially when they re on sale. Like most consumable products, toothpaste is one of the
items that go on sale when the store has a big stock to dispose. Consumers who are careful about
stocking on consumable products may wonder does toothpaste expire?
You may be surprised to find out that toothpaste, like food and medicine, does have a limited shelf
life. Toothpastes containing fluoride are required to be marked with an expiration date, which is
typically two years after their manufacture date. Now the next question is: Is using expired toothpaste
bad for the health?
Part 1: Does Toothpaste Expire?
The US Food and Drug Administration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Does toothpaste expire? Well, after two years, the fluoride content and effectiveness in your toothpaste
may not be guaranteed by the manufacturers, so your precious teeth may become vulnerable to plaque
build up and tooth decay. Therefore, it is always best to use a fresh tube of toothpaste when brushing
your teeth to ensure oral and dental health.
Part 3: What to Do with Expired Toothpaste?
Sometimes you buy an extra tube of toothpaste and forget about it. Does toothpaste expire? you
wonder. By the time you see it at the back of your medicine cabinet, it has most likely expired. Do you
use it or throw it away? Well, if you want good, healthy teeth, you better use a new tube of toothpaste.
But you don t have to throw away the old one. Here are some clever ways to make use of old
toothpaste:
1. Clean the Sink
Toothpaste is a natural abrasive because it contains ingredients such as silica and baking soda, which
can make your sink and faucet shine sparkling clean. Use a cleaning brush to scrub the sink with some
expired toothpaste for a nice, shiny bathroom or kitchen

Descriptive Speech About Shopping
Shopping
It s no surprise that Playa is a shopper s dream come true, with entire avenues and mega malls purely
dedicated to retail overkill. Should you be heading to our sunny shores for the first time, you want to
know what popular, authentic and affordable souvenirs many visitors bring home. Mexico is a land of
delectable food, superb artefacts and beautiful craftsmanship, so when planning your shopping
escapade(s) make sure to include a few of these genuine, Mexican icons.
What to buy
Edibles ( drinkables!): Pure vanilla, chilli, chocolate, tequila.
For the home: Colourful weaved fabrics, pottery, hammocks, clay figurines (especially Nativity Sets
and Mayan sculptures big and small), as well as cushion covers and table runners.

How to buy
Here are our best shopping tips, to help you along on your merry way.
Wear comfortable shoes! You ll be surprised how much walking there is to do along 5th avenue (in
particular) by the end of the day, you ll doubt have covered several kilometres, so think of your knees
and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Most small shops and boutiques won t take credit cards, so take a mix of cards and cash. There are
plenty of very safe ATMs both on 5th Avenue and all the malls.
You re here to buy jewellery, not wear it! Stay safe, keep belongings to a minimum (no flashy jewels
and watches) and avoid overly crowded shops, as they are favoured by pick pockets.
Beware of fakes, especially jewellery and artefacts. If buying a substantial piece of art, ask to meet the
artist personally. All reputable galleries will have no problem with this. When out buying silver, bring
along a small magnet (a Playa fridge magnet will do!) and test it against the piece of jewellery.
Magnets will not stick to real silver but will stick to most other metals. Look for the 925 engraving on

Why Is Google Analytics Important
Google Analytics is a powerful tool to track website traffic. As a website owner, you should
implement it as soon as possible. If you re struggling with that, then this tutorial will show you how to
add Google Analytics to WordPress step by step.
But why is Google Analytics so important?
Because Google Analytics helps you to find out what your traffic is doing on your website. You can
track the source where your readers are coming from, for example through social media or if search
engines sent it.
Besides the source, you get valuable information about the age group, their interests, locations and

Everything Changes By Marina Keegan Analysis
Everything Changes The Opposite of Loneliness spoke to me in a way that let me know that everyone
is scared of the future. The author is telling her audience that she is scared of the fact that when she
leaves Yale she may not ever feel the web of safety that she feels there when she graduates. Everyone
always hears about how college is the best years of their lives but why? Is it because of the late night
talks? The stress? The parties? The structure? Or the safety net? Imagery The author (Marina Keegan)
did an amazing job at putting imagery in her speech. One of the best imagery examples that she put
into the speech is when she talks about how when she went to Est Est Est and says, It was quiet, the
old wood creaking and the snow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She not only uses words to describe how she feels but she also pauses in between some words and
phrases to add emotion to her speech. She describes how she feels by saying, We don t have a word
for the opposite of loneliness, not if we did, I d say that s how I feel at Yale. How I feel right now.
Here. With all of you. In love, impressed, humbled, scared. And we don t have to lose that. By Keegan
putting that pauses in this part of her speech makes her audience feel a sense of awareness of how
everything will end up okay and how they don t have to worry about the future. This quote makes her
audience feel not only confident about the future but also excited knowing that they will all be there
for each other. Context Keegan uses context to show what her speech is mainly directed for. After
reading her speech it is easy to understand what she is writing her speech for. She is writing her
speech at her graduation at Yale. She basically spells the context out for the listener when she says
when we wake up tomorrow after Commencement and leave. By her saying leaving it lets the
audience know that she is writing this speech for graduating because of the fact that Commencement
is something that happens after graduation. She also lets the audience know that she is making her
speech for graduation other ways. Keegan talks about her past when she says that she wishes she
would have done somethings

Al Pacino plays a very convincing part as an honest NYPD agent trying to stay truthful while the
immoral behavior around him threatens to influence him otherwise. I loved the satire in one of the
beginning shots of the oath they are taking and what it should mean to them. The way the oath is
completely the opposite of what is actually happening in the department. Also, from the start of the
movie the cop starts to talk about how they let the restaurant owner get away with double parking so
they can get free meals all the way to the end of the movie where they extort money from worse
criminals, they show how the cops are corrupt on a daily basis and just looking to take what they can.
In the beginning Frank seems to be very close to his family and friends. They come to his gradation

Types Of Deep Sea Mining Essay
A huge problem with deep sea mining is that the sea/ ocean waters is something that humans have not
even begun to scratch the surface of grasping a full understanding of it. The sea is the largest
biological habitat on this earth and is not understood. There are so many undiscovered incredible
organisms are all potential he homes by deep sea mine. Extreme temperatures, pitch black darkness
and a giant amount of bio diverse city, most of which are very sensitive to any disturbance just a little

and increasing demand for mining could result in a detrimental damage to the environment which is
possibly irreversible. Impacts including the degrading of habitats, possible extinctions from oil being

The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning
about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern
world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed the
Western World.
People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently.
Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question
while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most
disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark Ages,
a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the backwards
civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However, Classical antiquity
appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins were found all over
Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the Romans and the Greeks, it
led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the Catholic Church s ideas. Once the
Renaissance began and spread across Europe, major discoveries would forever change world history.
There were several discoveries going on during the Renaissance that forever changed the world. One

Jesus Transfiguration
Using literary analysis, some questions that come to my mind are the following: 1: What does the
symbols used in the text really mean? 2: What is the form of the text? I don t really know the genre it

the characters relate to one another?
The style of the text is in a form of telling the readers about Jesus transfiguration. The style that the

Frida
In the film, Frida (Taymor, 2002), Salma Hayek portrays the role of the iconic Mexican painter, Frida
Kahlo, as she pursues her passion for art and navigates through the tumultuous relationship with
Diego Rivera. Manifesting such a complex historical figure was a difficult task because of the range of
age and emotion of the character, which were both needed in the actress who played her. To this effect,
Salma Hayek s personal properties and performance in this film contributed to her ability to represent
a realistic version of Frida Kahlo and to the subjects of love and ability to express oneself through art;
furthermore, Salma brings out the contrasting themes brought about by the difference in her
performance of a teenage Frida Kahlo versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the difference in action between how Salma acts around Alex versus Diego exemplifies her
ability to differentiate between a young Frida and an adult Frida. These differences allow for two
different perspectives on the overall theme of love and art. The ability of an actor to embody a
character of a historical figure, as Salma does, is an extraordinary talent because no one conjured up
the character in their mind. The actor has to represent a person who actually lived. Therefore it is
important to give respect to that person while emphasizing the meaning of their life. In Salma s case,
she had to emphasize the personality of Frida and relate her relationship and psychological struggles
to those found in her paintings in order to manifest a character that shows how one s perspective on
love and art affects their quality. By repurposing some of the optimism of her youth to a realist view of
the world, Salma showed that Frida s life was more than just a cautionary

Potential Torts And Contract Legalities And Ways To Avoid...
Running Head: TORTS AND CONTRACT LIABILITIES AND WAYS TO AVOID THEM
Potential Torts and Contract Liabilities
And Different Ways to Avoid Them
Abstract
People who do business as a sole proprietor or in a partnership are liable for the torts committed by
them and for torts committed by the business and its agents. The best way to avoid tort liability is to
set establish their business as a corporation or a limited liability company. A corporation or limited
liability company will act as its own entity for all intent and purposes. When it becomes it own entity
you will have to separate your finances from that of the business. Remember that it does not matter
what type of business organization you select, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember that it does not matter what type of business organization is selected, if a person commits a
tort they are still personally held responsible. For example, if a shareholder in a corporation runs over
an employee while driving a company truck, he or she is still held liable for negligently operating the
vehicle. There are certain clauses that can be beneficial in a contract as well as clauses that one should
be wary of. Some clauses that can be beneficial include hold harmless clauses, which are used to shift
liability from person to another; and indemnification clauses, which are designed primarily to transfer
the liability and expense of claims brought against the business away from the entity (Rapp). While
some clauses are beneficial, one should be wary of others. For example, one should avoid clauses
pertaining to his or her rights and duties in the event that a claim or suit arises, which can create a
contractual duty on their part (Rapp). Entering into a provider agreement that forfeits a person s ability
to seek compensation for services they are entitled to should also be avoided. One should always be
cautious of forfeiting their right to compensations (Rapp).

Mothers Against Drunk Driving Laws
If drunk driving laws were stricter there would be fewer death rates for intoxication manslaughter
around the world. More than 17,500 Americans lost their lives in drunk driving accidents in 1993 and
another 1,200,000 were injured, according to Mothers against Drunk Driving. That is one death every
30 minutes, and an injury every 26 seconds. (USA today magazine p.8). Sadly, those deaths would be
preventable if we had more severe laws against this issue. Drivers are aware of the laws and
consequences, but they re not aware of how they are destroying families. Victims Family s entire lives

The Looming Of A Miracle Worker Essay
The Looming Shadow If life could be solved on good intentions alone then the government would be
revered as a miracle worker, unfortunately in reality good intentions are often followed by those who
would seek to profit from them Across American history this trait is a pattern that has repeated itself
numerous of times, from the past century alone good intentions created the great depression and the
savings and Loans collapse. Most recently the new good intention became low income families, and
from it blossomed a thorny rose of a new standard of business ethics. The intention of assisting low
income families started becoming more prevalent under Bill Clinton s administration, and can traced
to 1992 with the creation of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). In time,
from administration to administration while people either looked away or got paid under the table the
remaining ethics of every the American industry vanished, leaving in its wake a crisis which even
today remains as a shadow on the minds of all Americans. A shadow greater than the one created by
the explosion of the USS Maine in the harbor of Havana, or even the darkness on the day of Pearl
Harbor. The reason the shadow remains is because of that very vanishing ethics, which had created it
under the guise of good intentions starting with OFHEO. In 1992 the Federal Housing Enterprises
Financial Safety and Soundness Act was passed, which was responsible for the creation of the

Evaluate The Closet Analysis
Evacuate the Closet Our lives are a kaleidoscope of vivid memories and experiences. There are good
memories we relive over and over in our heads; there are brutal ones we wish we could forget. Over
time, these experiences become a part of who we are, whether we like it or not. Therein lies a forked
road. Do we make the most of the situation and move on, or do we dwell on the past and choose a path
of embitterment? For all my life, I have considered myself as a sort of oddity. I didn t speak English
for most of primary school. My customs were different from my American classmates. Being different
became the norm for me; I wasn t really bothered by it. I learned to overcome all the little sarcastic
comments made by the other children in school. For the most part, everything was okay. Everything
was okay until I started my junior year of high school. By the beginning of my junior year, I knew that
I was gay. I had spent enough time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from the woman who gave life to me. Although I now see that I was in the wrong, my quick fire

research, I pulled out passages condemning every day actions as sins; this only seemed to incense her
more. That night, I went to sleep emotionally exhausted. It felt as if my world and family was falling
apart. As time went by, I discovered that I had misinterpreted my mom s anger. The nightly tears she
shed in what she thought was secret, revealed to me that she wasn t angry; she was extremely worried
and frightened. Being a religious woman, she obviously didn t want her son to go to hell. It occurred
to me that my angry reaction may have done more harm than good. I misconstrued her fear for anger;
she misconstrued my hurt for

Influence of Romanticism in the Contemporary Shows True...
Imagine a life in the 18th century when a revolution is taking place that exercises freedom, emotional
liberty and importance of oneself. When the Romantic Era hit many individuals were becoming aware
of a movement of intense emotion and became interested in unfamiliar and exotic experiences. Many
of these experiences in which, brought to light a whole new world of darkness and strong emotions
such as apprehension and terror. Romanticism in the 18th century sparked imagination; Imagination
that was perceived as the ultimate power (see reference). Fast forwarding to contemporary culture,
many of these examples of romanticism are seen in shows such as True Blood, American Horror
Story, and Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Violet is a girl that is in touch with her gothic side and is more interested in the mansion than scared of
it. Violet is misunderstood by many but she likes Tate because he understands her. Violet says to Tate I
used to think you were like me. You were attracted to the darkness. But Tate, you are the darkness.
This is when she realizes that he is not among the living like she is. There is a scene where she cannot
withstand the pressures anymore and Tate finds her cutting herself. Tate says You re doing it wrong, if
you re trying to kill yourself you cut vertically, they can t stitch that up . Tate loves Violet, so he does
not mind if she dies because that would mean he can stay with her in the mansion forever. That quote
coming from Tate would surprise anyone who hears it because it s a different and creepy type of love
that Tate feels for Violet because he wishes death upon someone he loves. I believe that Romanticism
is displayed here in the sense that Violet wants emotional liberty and has a special ghost that supports
her through it. Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas portrays a more kid friendly aspect of
Romanticism. The imagination behind this movie is remarkable and paints unfamiliar pictures but
since it is animated it takes away from it being so scary to more funny. A good portion of the movie is
expressed in music and the lyrics to the songs are eye opening to say the least. When Jack leaves his

Deprivation Essay
Research into Privation and Deprivation
Deprivation is when you have had something taken away from you. E.g. food. When we talk about
attachments, deprivation is the loss of an attachment figure. When an infant has had an attachment and
it has been broken. There is research done into deprivation by Bowlby. This is his Maternal
deprivation hypothesis, which stated the belief that if an infant was unable to build a warm, intimate,
continuous relationship with its mother , it would then result in having difficulties building
relationships with other people and also the risk of behavioural disorders. This hypothesis says that

Bowlby s hypothesis did not suggest that the relationship had to be with the mother. He believed s
child needed to form a relationship with a primary caregiver however did not necessarily need to be
the mother. The key aim for his hypothesis was to identify the importance of emotional care in healthy
development.
Privation is when an attachment had never been formed. The lack of emotional care can possibly
result in no attachment being formed. It can also result in permanent harm to the infants social and
emotional development. The study conducted by Hodges and Tizard (1989) was of ex institutional
children. He aimed to see effects of children who had suffered early privation. He also wanted to test
Bowlby s Maternal deprivation (or privation) hypothesis. In this research they took out a longitudinal
study. They studied 65 children which were placed in an institution when less than four months, which
had all experienced early privation. By 4 years old, 24 children had been adopted, 15 returned to their
natural homes and the rest remained in the institution. It was found that the adopted children had
closer attachments to their parents and had good family relationships and this was not the case for the
restored children.
Evidence against the Maternal deprivation hypothesis show in Hodges and Tizard s study that restored
children often returned to the

The play Away by Michael Gow shoes the character of Coral to be in need of change in her distinctive

Michael Gow s play Away presents Coral as a character that is in urgent need to undergo profound
change. At the introduction of the play, Coral is introduced to the audience as an emotionally unstable
and isolated character. Through the use of stage directions, Coral doesn t respond , it is clear that Coral
is in her own distinctive world and alienated from society unable to deal with the real world. However,

At the beginning of the scene, we view Coral engaging in conversation with Leonie, another resident
at the Hotel. The dialogue reveals a conversation that is unstable and awkward. Coral starts to become
overpowering and questioning by asking, Isn t hard making contact with other people in this kind of
place? Everyone s enjoying themselves but, I don t know, I feel it s a bit forced, do you feel that? Are
you really enjoying yourself? Or are you only pretending. To please your husband, perhaps? The stage
directions allow the audience to see that Leonie is almost in tears and asks Why are you staring like
that? Coral ignores her questions and remarks and continues to question the woman. Corals language
is cliché and proves she is still not coping. Coral starts to scare Leonie where she says Let me go,
please, I want to go reinforcing Corals inability to make contact and communicate with other people
and her lack of social skills. Rather than talking to the woman she starts to override the conversation
and become overwhelming revealing her isolation and alienation. Coral continues to ignore the
woman s pleads to leave and Leonie begins to struggle and starts crying sobbing, I want to go in. I m
hungry. Let me go . This shows Coral is unable to concentrate on her own issues and decides to force
herself upon someone else s problems in order to take away her own pain.
Coral then meets another important character named Rick. Rick uses short sentences and

Comparing Stevenson And Eros, By Robert Louis Stevenson
Although both poems are dedicated to the god of love Eros ,but their feelings towards Eros depicts
him very differently. Bridges s poem focuses on praising Ero s purity, being the leader of the human
race, speaking in a very innocence and naivety tone. However, Stevenson speaks down on the Eros in
his poem because Eros has been abused by the human race in the way they love, giving the poem a
very negative tone. The use in diction and imagery is used in both poems to help emphasize the
difference in tone. The diction used in Bridge s poem is to show how holy Eros by using words such
as thou and thy . However, in Stevenson s poem, the speaker addresses Eros as you and even as my
bully boy , evoking a negative tone. Stevenson, uses words such as overuse and slave to describe Eros
being a dirty being and not worthy of being called a god. Also, suggesting that the endless demands of
humanly love caused the god Eros to become this broken down creature implying it was the human
race that took the god down his holy position. While Bridges suggests ... Show more content on

so squinty eyes , changing the tone from calm and relaxed to being negative. The speaker in Bridges

The Rights Of Prisons For Men And The Pursuit Of The Prison
When you think of the prison population, you think that inmates are either male or female. Well think
about these men that refer to themselves as being transgender. Men living and conducting themselves
as women. My query is, how do these transgender inmates see themselves in being housed in a male
correctional facility? Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Community extends to
our prison population whether male or female. However, this essay will focus on the male population.
In order to contend with homosexuality in the prison population; prison officials and politicians have
invoked laws to protect those offenders that identified themselves as either being transsexual or
homosexual. President Bush signed into law the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA; Public
Law 108 79). This law was created to protect not only the inmate population but, all who entered a
prison, jail or detention centers. The creation of such a law denotes that a concern does exist.
In the article Agnes Goes to Prison Authenticity, Transgender Inmates in Prisons for Men and the
Pursuit of The Real Deal (Jenness Fensternmaker, 2013), deals with transgender men living in the
California Prison System. The lifestyle and daily struggle to survive as a woman trapped in a man s
body as well as emotional consequence of such a lifestyle is traumatic at best. These men not only
have live as women in prison but they have lived their lives as women in their communities as well.

  • 2. An Analysis of quot; The Sun Rising, quot; by John Donne... The Sun Rising, by John Donne, is a lyric poem about two lovers. The poem is divided into three stanzas, each ten lines long. The rhyme scheme in each stanza is ABBACDCDEE. This is a dramatic poem where the speaker and his lover are in bed together. The speaker personifies the sun, and is speaking to it throughout the poem. As the sunlight comes through the windows, the speaker tells the sun to leave them alone. He seems to feel that their life together is complete, and that the sun is being a nuisance. He then tells the sun that his lover is worth more than anything the sun can ever find outside their bedroom. The sunrise has provoked the speaker to speak. The sun is symbolic of an intruder. Although the speaker acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gets right to the point of the poem in the very first sentence, maybe because the sun has woken him up, and he wants his readers to think that this was the very first thing on his mind. In the second stanza, the speaker s tone becomes more insulting and modest. He attacks the sunshine by pointing out that he can cut the sun out of his life by closing his eyes. Even though he is being arrogant, he is forced to admit that without the sun, he would not be able to see his lover. His attitude then seems to change again when he says, If her eyes have not blinded thine. From this point on, he focuses less on the sun and more on his lover and their situation together. He is saying that his lover and himself are the center of the world. As we move on to the third stanza, the speaker s conceit continues. The first two lines imply that the lovers are every state, everywhere. He says, and all princes, I, nothing else. He seems to believe that he has all control. When the speaker says, Princes do but play us....All wealth alchemy, he believes that nothing or no one else matters besides him and his lover. At the end of the third stanza, the speaker decides that since nothing else matters in the world, the sun should only shine in the room containing him and his lover, Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere: This bed thy center is, these walls, thy ... • 3. The Legalization Of Drugs Should Be Legal The legalization of drugs has been an issue in society for quite a long time. People who are for and against the legalization of drugs can be very opinionated in their beliefs. Often times, some of these people on both sides of the argument can even be considered extremists. These disagreements vary quite a bit across the spectrum. Milton Friedman, someone who is for the legalization of drugs, argues that A user must associate with criminals to [sic] get the drugs, and many are driven to become criminals themselves . . . (569). On the contrary, drugs can cause very serious health problems and due to their destructive nature, they can destroy not only the user, but their family and loved ones as well. Milton s point reinforces the idea to make drugs legal. However, to make drugs legal can have serious problems. Health concerns, for instance, can be a major factor if we decide to legalize drugs. There are also major benefits to make drugs illegal. I stand against the idea to make drugs legal; it can lead to harmful consequences and regret. My friend who had tried marijuana for the first time, did not have a satisfying experience afterward. He had non stop panic attacks, which made him worry about everything. Almost any kind of drug can have adverse effects on people which are major health concerns to worry about. Pregnant women that use drugs like cocaine or heroin have already hindered or even caused death to the life of their child. Children exposed to drugs in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Career As A Purpose Of A Zoologist The career I am pursing is Zoology, which requires a degree in Biology. I chose this career due to my passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch I would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research that will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies wildlife, the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the behavior of animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a Zoologist is to experiment, research and study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a controlled area. Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how species work in life. The skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have found in myself. Of course, the interest of researching animas is the most important. But you also need communication skills, a strong logical problem solving approach, keen observation skills, and can independently or as a team. Majority of those skills I possess but could continue to improve on. The profession appeals to me because of my love for animals mostly. I have been interested in animals as a young child and I actually prefer animals over people. I m caring enough to dedicate my time when I m older to wildlife and wildlife projects. What else interests me about animals is how they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Symbolism In The Film, All-Heart Symbolism is abundant within the film. Ray has created his own start up company called All Heart, which focuses primarily on working with other companies to, for example, make necessary medications more affordable. The symbol for his company is visible in various places within the Embrey household, in Ray s workplace, and plays a major role toward the end when Hancock projects the logo onto the moon for everyone to see. The logo itself symbolizes the importance of becoming a good citizen and emphasizes working diligently to improve the quality of the world this is precisely what Hancock attempted to do throughout the film, and his final gesture is an homage to his own character development. The weather also plays a heavily symbolic role in establishing the mood. Whenever Hancock is on a potentially destructive path, a storm begins to swirl above him, darkening both the lighting and the mood of the film. The storms essentially symbolize Hancock s future when choosing to selfishly go against society. Finally, a symbol of an eagle is shown to the audience several times Hancock s hat at the beginning and suit toward the end both feature an eagle, and he spends much ... Although not the typical figure of strength, this initial representation is consistent with the theme of the film and its focus on being a good person who does not attempt to go against fate because Ray is essentially the most moral character in the film. He proves himself to be a foil to Hancock with his immense focus on improving the world around him. The director employs a subjective shot when Hancock leaves the Embrey s household for the first time, primarily functioning to allow the audience to temporarily view the world from Hancock s eyes. • 8. What Does The Button Baby Mean In The Great Gatsby Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24, 1896. He is famous for many short stories, many taking place during the Jazz Age and one specifically is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Bruccoli 1). It is a work on which a baby is born an old man and ages backwards. Fitzgerald wrote that he was inspired to write it by a remark made by Mark Twain: It is a pity that the best part of life comes at the beginning, and the worst part at the end (Lanham 1). In this short story no one attempts to discover the reason for Benjamin s condition or find a cure. Throughout his life he battles society and the social norms of the world. The Button baby is born in 1860, at a time when most children were born at home. Fitzgerald starts off the short story by saying, I shall tell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It says But a frantic inspection of the boys department revealed no suits to fit the new born Button. He blamed the store, of course in such cases it is the thing to blame the store (Fitzgerald 7). He acted as if the store clerk that helped him find the boys section knew his shameful secret . Not acting as Mr. Button pleases at home, he will not except any warm milk and will not play with his toy rattle. Benjamin is obviously not your typical baby, not that long after he is born he starts to sneak his father s Havana cigars and reads the encyclopedia. His father tries setting him up on play dates, which he does not like. Benjamin best friend for the beginning part of his life is his grand father because no one else would talk to him. His parents try sending him to kindergarten and he is kicked out for he keeps falling asleep. Television has been a big influence in shaping voters choice and labeling political parties, even though some believe media information can be scant in regards to candidates. It only takes 140 characters to damage a political campaign in which Smith is referring to social media as being a problem. (Smith, K. 2011. Most small shops and boutiques won t take credit cards, so take a mix of cards and cash. There are plenty of very safe ATMs both on 5th Avenue and all the malls. You re here to buy jewellery, not wear it! Stay safe, keep belongings to a minimum (no flashy jewels and watches) and avoid overly crowded shops, as they are favoured by pick pockets. Beware of fakes, especially jewellery and artefacts. If buying a substantial piece of art, ask to meet the artist personally. All reputable galleries will have no problem with this. • 16. Everything Changes By Marina Keegan Analysis Everything Changes The Opposite of Loneliness spoke to me in a way that let me know that everyone is scared of the future. The author is telling her audience that she is scared of the fact that when she leaves Yale she may not ever feel the web of safety that she feels there when she graduates. Everyone always hears about how college is the best years of their lives but why? Is it because of the late night talks? The stress? The parties? The structure? Or the safety net? Imagery The author (Marina Keegan) did an amazing job at putting imagery in her speech. One of the best imagery examples that she put into the speech is when she talks about how when she went to Est Est Est and says, It was quiet, the old wood creaking and the snow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She not only uses words to describe how she feels but she also pauses in between some words and phrases to add emotion to her speech. She describes how she feels by saying, We don t have a word for the opposite of loneliness, not if we did, I d say that s how I feel at Yale. How I feel right now. Here. With all of you. In love, impressed, humbled, scared. And we don t have to lose that. By Keegan putting that pauses in this part of her speech makes her audience feel a sense of awareness of how everything will end up okay and how they don t have to worry about the future. This quote makes her audience feel not only confident about the future but also excited knowing that they will all be there for each other. Context Keegan uses context to show what her speech is mainly directed for. After reading her speech it is easy to understand what she is writing her speech for. She is writing her speech at her graduation at Yale. She basically spells the context out for the listener when she says when we wake up tomorrow after Commencement and leave. By her saying leaving it lets the audience know that she is writing this speech for graduating because of the fact that Commencement is something that happens after graduation. She also lets the audience know that she is making her speech for graduation other ways. Keegan talks about her past when she says that she wishes she would have done somethings ...
