Globalization Argumentative Paper
For some people, globalization is so feared it is synonymous with world destruction. In the end, for all
we know, maybe this will be proven before it is over. In reality however, there are many good things
that have resulted from globalization(1, Premise). Let s for a moment focus on the economy, even
though there are many other advantages that have been brought forward that will also be discussed.
Many Americans do not appreciate how efficient our markets are, in this case efficiency in reference
to supply and demand is number one. These efficient markets allow economies to grow. As many have
learned in a global world, when one economy grows, it spurs growth in all the other economies ...

Globalization allows important processes to occur and be maintained more efficiently and important
ideas to become reality in an environment where they otherwise may not be. There is a certain irony
involved in this however that must be mentioned. For example, globalization is going to allow the
world to work together to hopefully solve our apocalyptic environmental predicament in a best case
scenario. Of course however, this predicament is a result of globalization(1, Conclusion). Still, it
allows the human race to push forward, which at this point we must recognize as a necessity of our
species in a time where progress of the human race is growing rapidly. In my opinion this is a progress
is written in our DNA, and globalization has allowed us to accomplish truly incredible things(2,
Conclusion).
Inductive Reasoning
I think one of the best examples of Inductive Reasoning I used was the explanation of how efficient
markets spur the growth and expansion of economic growth and how that is tied into globalization. As
stated above, Many Americans do not appreciate how efficient our markets are, in this case efficiency
in reference to supply and demand is number one. These efficient markets allow economies to grow.
As many have learned in a global world, when one economy grows, it spurs growth in

Phaedrus Views On Rhetoric
3) Plato s view on the Rhetoric in Gorgias is completely different than Phaedrus view on rhetoric. In
Gorgias, Plato emphasis the use of rhetoric as flattery that only lacks merit in scientifically sense. As
stated with the readings, Plato warns when the rhetorician Is more persuasive that the physician, the
ignorant is more persuasive with the ignorant that he who has knowledge is not the inference. (Plato,
48). This implies that rhetoric creates this distortion that allows others to distort what is fake into
something that is real through rhetoric. Plato was very fearful of the use of language in a destructive
way because of his overall faulty it may lead and the Sophists discuss how rhetoric can be deceptive in
its means. In contrast, Phaedrus approaches rhetoric in an entirely different view focusing on the ways
in which rhetoric is a craft and used as a tool of self expression. ... Show more content on

It is the speaker s job to find that resonation and create an art form of speech through varying
techniques. Phradeous claims that rhetoric should embrace the essence of speech versus writing and
use those techniques to master the language of rhetoric. The contrast in the readings from Gorgias and
Phadoues is the different interpretations of speech. Gorgias views speech as deceptive and solely
focused on persuasion and persuasion only, while Phardreous speech interpretation of rhetoric is the
way of speaking to allow true knowledge to be interpreted in a resonating way. Rhetoric knowledge is
interpreted as the active exploration of what is just through text and techniques. I believe that these

French Involvement In The California Gold Rush
French Involvement in the California Gold Rush
California Gold Rush, Mexican War, Who found gold. Why the Mexicans didn t.
During the late 1840s, France had suffered commercial decline. France had begun construction on a
large scale rail network, but failed to budget their construction properly, leaving the construction
unfinished, and it s backers bankrupt. This cascaded further than the initial investors, as smelters who
relied on the railways to buy their metal lost a major purchaser. The resulting economic fallout lead to
unemployment across several industries. The lack of work for the majority of the populace led many
to poverty. At the time, bread prices began rising prices, further straining the economic situation of the
working class. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While newspapers such as the New York Herald touted the grandiose tales of gold flowing in
California. Papers such as the Times of gand the Courrier des Etats Unis were more relaxed in their
reports, expecting newspapers such as the Herald to have greatly exaggerated the news in California,
as was expected of Americans at the time. In addition to the skeptical attitude held by the Courrier, the
gold rush did not reach national attention immediately due to more pressing matters at home.
Following the uprising came the freedom of the press, universal suffrage regardless of gender, and the
national elections for President of France; these topics dominated French headlines, and competed
against the reports of gold. Still, the gold rumors managed to pepper the daily newspapers. The
populace however, remained adamant that the reports were simply American fantasy. It wasn t until
December fifth, 1848, when President Polk delivered his State of the Union and confirmed the rumors
of gold in California, did the acceptance of the gold rush become unanimous. With the elections
drawing to a close on December tenth, France was in a frenzy, with the fervor of a new duly elected
president, and the dreams of Californian gold.

Effects Of Sexting In Teenagers
Most teenagers see sexting or sending nudes as a normal teenager thing. One thing they don t know is
the risks they re running by sending inappropriate messages or pictures to another person. In order to
try and prevent sexting amongst teens, multiple laws have been enforced throughout the years. These
laws are there to protect and help teens understand the seriousness of sexting.
Sexting nude images of teens under the age of 18 is seen as child pornography and is illegal in the
United States. Most people believe that an offence only occurs if a young person is under pressure to
make and send an explicit image, or if a private photo sent to one person is distributed more widely.
But most young girls British Conservative Party politician, Sarah Newton, speaks to see no problem in
sending a provocative photo to their boyfriend for fun they often tell her that teachers and their parents
think the same . An underage teen sending a nude image can land them big trouble and the same goes
for the receiver. In a case between 19 year old Russell Foster and his 14 year old girlfriend Amber,
Russell faced four years in prison and was registered as a sex offender. Even though Russell and
Amber are now married, Russell s record has made it hard for him to find work, and being a registered
sex offender has limited where the family can live.
Though, not every teen that sexts is illegal, on July 3, 2008, 18 year old Jessica Logan was discovered

Plato s Dialogue Phaedo
In Plato s dialogue Phaedo, Socrates argues that there is a clear distinction between the body and the
soul. Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s death in
order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to the soul. He
believes that people should live their lives preparing for death and separating their soul from the
substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly separating itself
from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical ideas that Socrates
argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. The Argument of Affinity is about the distinction
between the soul and the physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being that
has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers. Philosophers
give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to seek wisdom, even
with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the entire situation, including his
own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He thinks that once his soul distances
itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise. The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm
from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows with reason and ever stays with it contemplating
the true, the divine, which is not the object of opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher
is immortal because it is able to seek wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to
accomplish more.In the beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every
human and when they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the
souls of philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and
the divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul
will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes
the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is saying it,
however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human being.Socrates does
not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical human body and every
single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to every single body because

Darwinists and Dissenters
Did God create the universe or did the universe create itself? Ever since Charles Darwin s On the
Origin of Species was first published in 1859, the debate between those that believe life was brought
into existence by supernatural means and those who believe in Darwin s theory of evolution has been
fierce. Each side presents compelling arguments that may sway any uneducated reader to agree with
their position based solely on the confidence they portray in their writings. However, because of the
vastness and strength of evidence presented by the proponents of modern evolutionary theory,
Darwinists have proved their point much greater than those who argue in favor of Intelligent Design.
In this essay, four arguments will be presented; two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the complexity of life and its organisms could not have arisen slowly over time
because if one part of a whole is not present then it cannot function, survive, and therefore possess the
ability to reproduce and evolve. Behe explains this theory using a mousetrap as an example. He writes
that if any one of the components of the mousetrap (the base, hammer, spring, catch, or holding bar) is
removed, then the trap does not function and that because the mousetrap is necessarily composed of
several parts, it is irreducibly complex... thus [proving] irreducibly complex systems exist (5).
Although Behe s theory seems reasonable, Jerry Coyne points out in his book, Why Evolution Is True,
that the... designs [observed] make sense only if they evolved from features of earlier ancestors and
that an Intelligent Designer would not have made it a motive to have organisms appear as though they
evolved (Coyne, 85). Coyne s critique of Behe s theory of irreducible complexity further solidifies the
Darwinists claim, especially in regard to his point that an Intelligent Designer

Dachau First Concentration Camp
Some might think that Auschwitz is the first concentration camp but, it s not Auschwitz is just the
most popular one. The first concentration camp to be operated was a camp named Dachau. Dachau
opened on March 22nd, 1933 it was meant to hold mostly German Communists or just political
opponents of the Nazis. Later, Jehovah s Witnesses, Roma (or Gypsies) , homosexuals and few Jews
were transferred into Dachau. In the first year of it opening it held 4,800 prisoners. It was not a death
camp, but 40,000 200,000 people were murdered, some died of disease and starvation. Dachau has
many things to talk about, like how many/ what kind of people Dachau had and what they did to them,
how it was run, and the history of Dachau. Dachau had about 4,800 people in the first year of
operating, by 1937, it held about 13,260 people. It was meant to hold political prisoners and not to
harm them, but it turned into a death camp, where countless people died from malnutrition, overwork,
and many were executed. These people consisted of artists, intellectuals, physically/mentally
handicapped, Jews, homosexuals and many more. All these people were seen unfit to be in society by
Hitler. The people that were in Dachau were used for slave labor to make German weaponry to be

Analysis Of The Play A Doll House
Being in a situation where a person is unable to control their actions or thoughts is difficult. Whether it
may have been during the 1800s or 1900s, humans experience this unpredictable event. For instance,
in the play A Doll House, Nora was a wife who held a deep, darkening secret in which she chose to
keep hidden from her husband. During the play entitled Trifles, Mrs. Hale came to the decision to
remove evidence from the scene in order to not allow officials of the county to predict what may have
actually happened to John Wright during his unsuspected death. Although both plays generalize
similar themes of hidden secrets, readers are able to compare and reflect on the motivation,
economical status, and time period of both Nora and Mrs. Hale.
Behind your actions, is a thought of motivation in, which allowed you to fully engage one into an
activity or decision. Nora, in the play entitled A Doll House, began as a woman of innocence.
Considering that Nora loved her family and husband in great depth, others were well aware that she
lived a nearly perfect life. As her husband became ill and needed assistance, Nora searched in a
different region from where they held their residency to seek the assistance needed. While seeking for
financial assistance to enable her husband to become well, Nora soon asked for a small loan from Nils
Krogstad whom had currently held the position of bank clerk. The loan was fairly simple to receive,
although it required a co signer. While deciding to

Heart Of Darkness, By Joseph Conrad
The political philosopher Benjamin Constant argued, no one has a right to a truth which injures others.
The question of lying has been debated for centuries: where should one draw the line with lying?
Should one try to never tell lies? Can the public handle the truth? In Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of
Darkness, Marlow, the protagonist, tried to answer this conundrum. He lied three times during the
course of his story, each time becoming larger than the last. As the philosopher Kant argued, once a lie
is told, the concept of truth itself is attacked, leading to increasingly great lies until they become too
large for the liar himself. In this novella, Marlow began by lying to someone of no consequence;
subsequently he lied to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reader wants to trust the author. The way the book is written, as someone else s story, makes the
reader question what is being said. How does one know that the speaker is trustworthy when they can
tell he is hiding his true feelings from himself and the others at some parts in the story?
The first time that Marlow introduced the idea of lying is when he let the first class agent at the
Central Station believe he was more influential than he actually was. After committing this minor
falsehood, he explained in depth that it was unusual for him to lie, as if to assure the reader not to
worry. Explaining not only to the men on the Nellie, but also to the readers, You know I hate, detest,
and can t bear a lie, not because I am straighter than the rest of us, but simply because it appalls me.
There is a taint of death, a flavor of mortality in lies which is exactly what I hate and detest in the
world what I want to forget (32), he was not trying to convince them that he did not lie ever, but that
when he did, it as for a specific, important reason. He lowered himself to the level of the pilgrims, the
worst of society in their power hungry mindset, because of his lie. Another important aspect of this
quote is that it was said before Marlow entered the wildness of Africa, and it s as if he lost his
innocence of the world. Before Africa, he was just as blind to the realities of the world as the other
Europeans. After this small lie, he underwent experiences in

Saint Anselm s Ontological Argument
The debate over the existence of God has been going on for, quite literally, thousands of years.
Whether it was a Christian God or Pagan gods, there were always those who didn t believe or would
refute the existence of these gods. Despite one s stance on religion, it is known that churches and
monasteries in the past were some of the key places for development of education, and even
philosophy. Those involved in the church wouldn t necessarily make all of their writing centered on
God, but it would make sense that the monks in these establishments would use their educated minds
and argumentative skills to argue the existence of their God. While ... Show more content on

The argument is presented as if he is speaking to or trying to persuade someone that believes God
doesn t exist. While it s written in a way that isn t as straight forward as we speak today, with some
consideration, it is simple to break down what Anselm proposed:
a) God is a being in which no greater one is conceivable
b) If God is a being which no greater one is conceivable, then there is no greater God that can be
imagined above him
Therefore...
c) There is nothing greater than God that can be

Floating Wetlands
Floating treatment wetlands are a manmade ecosystem that mimic natural wetlands (David J. Sample,
2013) and are used to increase the water quality of lakes (SWCD, 2017). These floating wetlands can
serve many task such as creating habitat for a variety of organisms, such as birds, can add to the
aesthetic of the lake, recharge aquifers and can reduce large hydrologic loads from storm events
(Lubnow, 2014). The main focus of the floating wetland and this project will be to act as a filter to

They then move or float to the surface where they will then be able to out compete any other algae or

that has inhabited Mattatall Lake are also known to have heterocysts, which are specialized nitrogen
fixing cells that are within the bacteria (Lubnow, 2014). This means that they can produce their own
nitrogen from the atmosphere and are not reliant on just the inorganic sources of nitrogen from the
lake (UniProt, 2018). However, for that process to occur the algae needs a great deal of energy, which
is where the vast amount of phosphorus is also needed (Lubnow, 2014). Therefore, the perfect
environment for this algae to grow would be one that has increased levels of phosphorus, high water
temperatures, and low flushing rates / recharge rates (Lubnow, 2014). Which is exactly what Mattatall

Ephesians 12
Ephesians 6:12 says, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Paul emphatically instructs his readers concerning spiritual warfare that Christians are involved in and
his definition, at least to me, is a chilling reminder that we are engaged in a battle.
The Bible contains numerous scriptures and accounts of spiritual warfare, too numerous for us to deny
the fact that it does exist. Now the level of our battles varies from person to person, nevertheless, a
relationship with Jesus signifies we are engaged in a battle with our adversary. There is a good and an
evil, there is a right and a wrong, there is righteousness and unrighteousness, there is black and white
and there is a God and a devil.

There are times it is necessary for us to assume the defense posture, however, we are also encouraged
to be on the offense.
Ephesians 6:13 18, the famous text on putting on the whole armor of God, teaches us that this armor
isn t just about being ready to be attacked and to survive on defense, but it is about being prepared to
proceed with the attack. In verse 13, the word withstand does not denote to survive an attack, it
signifies to oppose the enemy. This scripture teaches God s warriors to be on the offense and then
follows with the equipment to accomplish the task.
Warfare possesses a defensive posture, however, warfare also contains an offensive position. As
Christians, we should position ourselves to be ready to defend but it is to our advantage to be on the
offense as the Word of God teaches. We possess the ability to take the fight to the adversary with the
strength and power of the Word of God, with prayer and with the Spirit of

The And Its Influence On The Art World
Interpretations of artworks have been widely valued among the art world for centuries. Arguments
whether an artwork means one thing, multiple things, or nothing at all is a question that circles the art
world, and cause art critics to disagree when interpreting a work. Nihilism, monism, pluralism,
intentionalism, romanticism, anti intentionalsim, and post structuralism all contain philosopher s
theories that can give art viewers the key to giving meaning to a creation. I prefer the views of
pluralism, and post structuralism when looking for the answer of how to interpret an artwork such as
J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series as with most fictional books. Pluralism does not contain one
completely right answer, but can disregard certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with the thought a good work allows for multiple interpretations because when I read J.K.
Rowling s series, I became immediately consumed in the fictional world, experiencing and
interpreting things as I saw fit. I read the books and never once thought of Dumbledore as gay, but
other s that read the books, and the author whom wrote them interpreted him as gay. Neither their
interpretations nor my own are wrong according to the pluralist view because both are plausible,
viable interpretations. While in the books there is not a single statement that clearly displays
Dumbledore as gay, there is also not a statement that clearly displays him being heterosexual, either.
With that thought in mind, one could assume that the sexual orientation could not possibly be
knowledge attained by anyone because it is not disclosed in the book, but that does not give any
justification to dismissing the interpretation of him being either hetero or homosexual. The pluralist
view hits a dead end because there is always the open question of how to distinguish between a
plausible and implausible interpretation.
Most people would argue from a monist stand point that because the author said the meaning was one
thing then they must be right, but post structuralist Barthes says that the author is not meant to be the
arbiter of meaning (Hicks, 83), but rather the work itself. So with this suggestion, the author seems to
not have complete say in what the book or

Persuasive Essay On The Pension Crisis
Pension Crisis
When looking at for a governor that will contribute to a state s long term success, one must look for
the candidate that is not promising quick, instant relief, as citizens will have to pay for it eventually. In
the gubernatorial debate, while both candidates are unable to fully answer the pension crisis question,
Kim Guadagno seems to have the best ideas for addressing the issue. Phil Murphy s take on the issue
is that he desires to fully fund pension obligations as fast as possible, as this will gain the trust of New
Jersey citizens back. This sounds great in theory, but it is important to look at how he is going to do
this; in the debate he is unable to explain his plan. Guadagno addresses the issue by stating that in
order to fix the problem, fifteen billion dollars of New Jersey s thirty four billion dollar budget will be
required. This would mean budget cuts in almost all other areas of spending such as education and
transportation. While Phil Murphy s plan seems great, Guadagno quickly makes it clear that it is
nearly impossible to achieve. If Murphy were to achieve his goal, New Jersey citizens would pay the
price, and they would continue to pay the price for a long time. Guadagno, while not clearly stating
her plan, believes that it is best to address the issue with a thoughtful, affordable approach. In
conclusion, Murphy s plan might benefit certain citizens for a brief period of time, but will hurt
citizens in the long run, therefore, Kim Guadagno

Increase In Weight Training
For some reason, this myth about bulking up continues to stick around even though there is plenty of
scientific research to dispel it. For starters, women do not produce enough testosterone in order to gain
significant amounts of muscle mass. In addition, consider the fact that men have 10 to 30 times more
testosterone (i.e., the primary muscle building hormone) than women and some men still have
difficulty putting on muscle (I ll get to that in another column).
Weight training will increase lean muscle mass, but not to any degree that should cause fear in
women. What often happens to women (and men) when they begin a weight training program is that
their muscles begin to store more carbohydrates in the form of muscle glycogen. As a result ... Show

This fact leads to the importance of implementing a proper nutritional program in order to make sure
that you are shedding enough body fat to obtain the lean look that you desire.
I recommend that women start out by using a dumbbell (or pulley machine in a gym) that allows you
to complete 10 12 repetitions with perfect technique in a controlled manner. Basically, if you are able
to perform two to three sets of 12 repetitions of an exercise, you should increase the resistance for the
next workout by about five percent for the upper body and by 10 percent for the lower body. These
increases should continue to challenge you, but in a safe and manageable progression. Women need to
challenge themselves. Using the little pink, 3 pound dumbbells for the majority of exercises will not
provide enough stimulus to the nervous and muscular systems. Some women s handbags weigh nearly
15 20 pounds and they carry them all day so why would you go to the gym and only lift three pounds?

this venue. As I arrived to my seats I began to see everyone standing as my Lakers team jogged their
way to the court to warm up. I don t think I sat the whole warm up with just so much enthusiasm and
energy running through my legs I could not sit and miss one moment of just seeing warm up lay ups; I
knew this game was going to be one to remember. Once tip off was under way I remember center
Andrew Bynum tip the ball away from Nets center Brook Lopez with ease. I looked down the court
and I got a glimpse of two of my favorite actors from a far , Adam Sandlar and Jack Nicholson, both
sitting in front row seats. As the game continued this was clearly a no challenge for my team. We held
a 15 point lead through most of the game. Each of Kobe Bryant s 27 points I hold in memory forever

Pancakes Vs Waffles Research Paper
In a battle of epic proportions, who will win? Waffles or Pancakes? While both are widely eaten and
made, pancakes, with their easy assembly, creativity, and versatility, are the superior breakfast food.
Both pancakes and waffles are popular breakfast foods that everyone has eaten. I too have had, and
made, many pancakes and waffles in my lifetime. Pancakes are far easier to assemble. They only
require premade pancake mix, a stove, and a pan. Everyone has these things! A waffle iron, however,
is much harder to come by. Waffle irons also constrict creativity. All of your waffles are going to be in
whatever standard square or circular shape your waffle iron is. Pancakes can be made into any shape!
People even endeavor into pancake art, making

Short Term Memory
By strengthening an existing synapse in some way you can create a neural pathway in a short time.
There are many local short term memory circuits in the brain. Biochemical modification and rehearsal
of synapses mediates the short term memory function. The hippocampus releases fresh memory traces
with the cortex, eventually blending memory patterns in the cortex via gene expression into the
protein modified synapses of long term memory. The blending process could take days or even weeks
for deeply set long term memory. So synapses in the cortex that were first circuits for the short term
memory became through rehearsal and blending molecularly engraved as long term memory.[7]
An individual neuron can be a part of a lot of memory patterns. The thousands of synapses of its
dendritic tree will have different activity configurations for each of the memory patterns in which it
participates.[7] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general the short term memory refers to memories that last no longer than 30 seconds unless they
are rehearsed in that time frame, this paragraph will discuss the short term memory in depth.[9]
The short term memory is the part of the memory in the brain that can store information for a very
short period of time. It can only hold a limited amount of information for several seconds up to several
minutes. The short term memory is located in the prefrontal lobe of the brain (figure 3.1), inside this
the short term memory is located inside the hippocampus and the amygdala.[9]

Henry K Silver. MD, professor, and vice chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of
Colorado Health Sciences Center (UCHSC), established the first Physician Assistant program
curriculum specializing on pediatrics/child specialist when there was an increased demand for
pediatric health care providers. It was important to develop a program that will complement the skills

developed a 36 month program curriculum focusing on providing high quality, comprehensive
primary care to infants, children, and adolescents. In 1969, the legislature passed the Child Health
Associate Act, which allowed non physicians to practice medicine and provide the framework for the
certification of an allied health care professional (Glicken et al). This law played an important role in
further development of PA profession in the following years.
In 1968, the American Academy of Physician Assistants currently known as the American Academy of

Moving Away From Classical Chemotherapeutics
Moving away from Classical Chemotherapeutics:
A Review of Recent Advances in Targeted Chemotherapy
As an elegant manipulation of the cell cycle, cancer pathways have demanded significant attention by
the world s researchers. From molecular biology to inorganic chemistry, each field has conducted a
variety of studies to elucidate the pathways cancer manipulates in order to develop successful
treatments. To this end, chemotherapy emerged as a prominent research field in the early 1960s and is
a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells.1 Classical
chemotherapeutics began with cisplatin and expanded to develop more potent second and third
generation analogues, such as oxaliplatin and carboplatin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a change in focus, recent advances in this field have led researchers to develop targeted
anticancer agents that have the potential to reduce the side effects associated with classical
chemotherapeutics, which include nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia,
nausea, vomiting, and hair loss.5,6 A promising advancement in chemotherapeutics is the
development of therapy that targets various biomolecules that are associated with cancer. Known as
targeted therapy, this offers significant potential for increasing selectivity by synthesizing compounds
that are directed towards cell signaling pathways known as important for cancer cell immortalization.7
Moreover, targeted therapy shows promise with synthesized drugs directed for cancer biomarkers
because it will increase selectivity to damage cancer cells instead of healthy cells.8 The early
generations of chemotherapeutics largely focused on creating more potent metal complexes, analogous
to the structure and function of cisplatin.4 However, with targeted therapy as a promising
advancement, the next generation of chemotherapeutics instead focuses on selectivity in the
preparation of transition metal complexes that are directed toward specific biomolecules that are
known to advance cancer cell

Slavery and The Tropicalia Movement in Brazil
Starting in 1538, nearly four million Africans were taken from Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Congo and
Mozambique to be forced into slavery in Brazil s sugar plantations and mining industries. The slave
trade was eradicated in 1850, and by 1871 the Brazilian legislature passed the Law of the Free Womb.
This law was designed to grant freedom to slave s newborn children and served as a precursor to the
abolition of slavery in 1888. They made home for themselves in Brazil, as it had the largest amount of
African diaspora. Former slaves and their descendants established an Afro Brazilian culture and the
cultural traditions, notably musical, brought along with them inevitably mingled with those of Brazil.
They brought new rhythmic complexities and melodic patterns with them, and were recognized for
using music as way of bringing people together through communal participation. Their musical
traditions have maintained very well preserved and were legitimate contributions to Brazil s culture.
Afro Brazilian influences became fundamental components for a new generation of musicians in
Brazil, and pride in their African roots flourished for the first time.
On a typical evening in Brazil, an overabundance of vibrant rhythms and people on every corner are
embellished in eccentric fashion filled the streets. Percussion beats, bells, trumpets, whistles and other
instruments sound through the streets as people dance or play along. Music is a defining factor of
identity in Brazilian culture.

Social Factors And Social Causes Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution was mainly the result of social causes. In the 18th century, the social classes
were categorized as the First Estate, consisting of the clergy; the Second Estate, consisting of the
aristocracy; and finally the Third Estate, including every remaining citizen; from the bourgeoisie
(merchants, lawyers, businessmen) all the way to the poor peasants of the land. All the members of the
first two estates were privileged in law and taxation. Moreover, there was virtually no way to move up
the social ladder unless you were born into it, consequently, raising anger among the bourgeoisie
since, despite their equivalence in wealth as certain nobles, they still had lower living conditions than
the first two estates and were considered the minority.
The bourgeoisie s (middle class) ambition was a major contributor of the French Revolution. This
close contact of the bourgeoisie with less educated members of the Third Estate enabled them to
provide the real leadership of the Revolution when it came... (Truman et al, 131) The middle class
made up the larger half of the Third Estate. Since the peasants weren t organized enough to form their
own assembly, or begin a revolution, the bourgeoisie guided the Third Estate, eventually forming the
National Assembly, and pushed them to act against the higher levels of society. ...it was through them,
by mouth, that the radical views of the philosophes spread down through the population. (Truman et
al, 131) The bourgeoisie

said: What do you do when American values clash with the values of your family? If you please your
parents, you re unhappy, but if you don t please them, they re unhappy. You can t win. (Kwong 1).
There are a lot of different norms, values, life styles, beliefs and language between the Chinese culture
and American culture. So, many teen ABC s always suffer the conflict from the Chinese traditional
immigrant families as well as from American society. Also, one teen ABC told in Youth Radio that,

Difference Between Christianity And Ancient Egyptian Religion
There are many arguments of how Christianity is an evolve religion from ancient Egypt religion.
Especially with the talk between Horus and Jesus, and isis and mary. Christianity both have many
similarities also they have a lot of differences. They both have a god but for ancient Egypt its gods,
they both have a god that has a son, both Christianity and ancient Egypt religion has practices like any
other religion.
Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion have supreme being that they look up too, for Christianity
being God and ancient religion has many gods and the main ones that are known are Osiris, Horus,
and Iris. In both religions Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion they both have gods battling some

god Thoth the god of knowledge.
Even though mary is not a god she was a virgin who gave birth to Jesus the son of god, while the same
thing happened to Horus and his mother Isis. In both Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion, both
sons of gods died and were resurrected. Jesus resurrecting for the Christians and hours resurrecting
ancient Egyptian religion. The name king of kings is mainly established to Jesus but Osiris shares the

Wolves are pack animals. Only the alpha pair in each pack breeds. Coyotes are less company lovers,
and all individual coyotes breed if they re able to find a mate. Although coyotes occasionally form
family unit packs, it s not their main lifestyle as it is for wolves. Coyotes pair for a number of years,
and then change mates. Wolves usually mate for life and both parents take care of the young. The
coyotes mate between February and April and the gestation period lasts 60 to 63 days. The pups are
born blind. Their eyes open after about 14 days. The pups live and play until they are six to ten weeks
old and within a year, they go their own way, staking out their own territory. While the wolves mate
typically between January and March and the gestation period lasts 63 days. Pups are born blind and
defenseless also. The pack cares for the pups until they fully mature at about 10 months of age when
they can hunt on their own. Once grown, young wolves may disperse. The last difference between
wolves and coyotes is the way to communicate between them. Coyotes communicate in many ways to
each other and howling is the most common way of communication. A howl is high pitched and eerie,
and is often heard at night. Howling is used to gather other coyotes and to inform others of their
location. Whereas, wolves howl to communicate with the other members of the pack and other packs.
They also howl to attract mates and when they sense any danger, to bring a pack back together and to
keep strangers

  • 2. PHL 320 Critical Thinking Week 2 Argumentative Essay Paper... Adam Cully PHL/320 Globalization Argumentative Paper For some people, globalization is so feared it is synonymous with world destruction. In the end, for all we know, maybe this will be proven before it is over. In reality however, there are many good things that have resulted from globalization(1, Premise). Let s for a moment focus on the economy, even though there are many other advantages that have been brought forward that will also be discussed. Many Americans do not appreciate how efficient our markets are, in this case efficiency in reference to supply and demand is number one. These efficient markets allow economies to grow. As many have learned in a global world, when one economy grows, it spurs growth in all the other economies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Globalization allows important processes to occur and be maintained more efficiently and important ideas to become reality in an environment where they otherwise may not be. There is a certain irony involved in this however that must be mentioned. For example, globalization is going to allow the world to work together to hopefully solve our apocalyptic environmental predicament in a best case scenario. Of course however, this predicament is a result of globalization(1, Conclusion). Still, it allows the human race to push forward, which at this point we must recognize as a necessity of our species in a time where progress of the human race is growing rapidly. In my opinion this is a progress is written in our DNA, and globalization has allowed us to accomplish truly incredible things(2, Conclusion). Inductive Reasoning I think one of the best examples of Inductive Reasoning I used was the explanation of how efficient markets spur the growth and expansion of economic growth and how that is tied into globalization. As stated above, Many Americans do not appreciate how efficient our markets are, in this case efficiency in reference to supply and demand is number one. These efficient markets allow economies to grow. As many have learned in a global world, when one economy grows, it spurs growth in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Phaedrus Views On Rhetoric 3) Plato s view on the Rhetoric in Gorgias is completely different than Phaedrus view on rhetoric. In Gorgias, Plato emphasis the use of rhetoric as flattery that only lacks merit in scientifically sense. As stated with the readings, Plato warns when the rhetorician Is more persuasive that the physician, the ignorant is more persuasive with the ignorant that he who has knowledge is not the inference. (Plato, 48). This implies that rhetoric creates this distortion that allows others to distort what is fake into something that is real through rhetoric. Plato was very fearful of the use of language in a destructive way because of his overall faulty it may lead and the Sophists discuss how rhetoric can be deceptive in its means. In contrast, Phaedrus approaches rhetoric in an entirely different view focusing on the ways in which rhetoric is a craft and used as a tool of self expression. ... Phradeous claims that rhetoric should embrace the essence of speech versus writing and use those techniques to master the language of rhetoric. The contrast in the readings from Gorgias and Phadoues is the different interpretations of speech. Gorgias views speech as deceptive and solely focused on persuasion and persuasion only, while Phardreous speech interpretation of rhetoric is the way of speaking to allow true knowledge to be interpreted in a resonating way. • 4. French Involvement In The California Gold Rush French Involvement in the California Gold Rush California Gold Rush, Mexican War, Who found gold. Why the Mexicans didn t. During the late 1840s, France had suffered commercial decline. France had begun construction on a large scale rail network, but failed to budget their construction properly, leaving the construction unfinished, and it s backers bankrupt. This cascaded further than the initial investors, as smelters who relied on the railways to buy their metal lost a major purchaser. The resulting economic fallout lead to unemployment across several industries. The lack of work for the majority of the populace led many to poverty. At the time, bread prices began rising prices, further straining the economic situation of the working class. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While newspapers such as the New York Herald touted the grandiose tales of gold flowing in California. Papers such as the Times of gand the Courrier des Etats Unis were more relaxed in their reports, expecting newspapers such as the Herald to have greatly exaggerated the news in California, as was expected of Americans at the time. In addition to the skeptical attitude held by the Courrier, the gold rush did not reach national attention immediately due to more pressing matters at home. Following the uprising came the freedom of the press, universal suffrage regardless of gender, and the national elections for President of France; these topics dominated French headlines, and competed against the reports of gold. Still, the gold rumors managed to pepper the daily newspapers. The populace however, remained adamant that the reports were simply American fantasy. It wasn t until December fifth, 1848, when President Polk delivered his State of the Union and confirmed the rumors of gold in California, did the acceptance of the gold rush become unanimous. With the elections drawing to a close on December tenth, France was in a frenzy, with the fervor of a new duly elected president, and the dreams of Californian gold. Who left for the gold fields. • 5. Effects Of Sexting In Teenagers Most teenagers see sexting or sending nudes as a normal teenager thing. One thing they don t know is the risks they re running by sending inappropriate messages or pictures to another person. In order to try and prevent sexting amongst teens, multiple laws have been enforced throughout the years. These laws are there to protect and help teens understand the seriousness of sexting. Sexting nude images of teens under the age of 18 is seen as child pornography and is illegal in the United States. Most people believe that an offence only occurs if a young person is under pressure to make and send an explicit image, or if a private photo sent to one person is distributed more widely. But most young girls British Conservative Party politician, Sarah Newton, speaks to see no problem in sending a provocative photo to their boyfriend for fun they often tell her that teachers and their parents think the same . An underage teen sending a nude image can land them big trouble and the same goes for the receiver. In a case between 19 year old Russell Foster and his 14 year old girlfriend Amber, Russell faced four years in prison and was registered as a sex offender. • 6. Plato s Dialogue Phaedo In Plato s dialogue Phaedo, Socrates argues that there is a clear distinction between the body and the soul. Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s death in order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to the soul. He believes that people should live their lives preparing for death and separating their soul from the substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly separating itself from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical ideas that Socrates argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. The Argument of Affinity is about the distinction between the soul and the physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers. Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise. The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to every single body because every human body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Darwinists and Dissenters Did God create the universe or did the universe create itself? Ever since Charles Darwin s On the Origin of Species was first published in 1859, the debate between those that believe life was brought into existence by supernatural means and those who believe in Darwin s theory of evolution has been fierce. Each side presents compelling arguments that may sway any uneducated reader to agree with their position based solely on the confidence they portray in their writings. However, because of the vastness and strength of evidence presented by the proponents of modern evolutionary theory, Darwinists have proved their point much greater than those who argue in favor of Intelligent Design. In this essay, four arguments will be presented; two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the complexity of life and its organisms could not have arisen slowly over time because if one part of a whole is not present then it cannot function, survive, and therefore possess the ability to reproduce and evolve. Behe explains this theory using a mousetrap as an example. He writes that if any one of the components of the mousetrap (the base, hammer, spring, catch, or holding bar) is removed, then the trap does not function and that because the mousetrap is necessarily composed of several parts, it is irreducibly complex... thus [proving] irreducibly complex systems exist (5). Although Behe s theory seems reasonable, Jerry Coyne points out in his book, Why Evolution Is True, that the... designs [observed] make sense only if they evolved from features of earlier ancestors and that an Intelligent Designer would not have made it a motive to have organisms appear as though they evolved (Coyne, 85). Whether it may have been during the 1800s or 1900s, humans experience this unpredictable event. For instance, in the play A Doll House, Nora was a wife who held a deep, darkening secret in which she chose to keep hidden from her husband. During the play entitled Trifles, Mrs. Hale came to the decision to remove evidence from the scene in order to not allow officials of the county to predict what may have actually happened to John Wright during his unsuspected death. Although both plays generalize similar themes of hidden secrets, readers are able to compare and reflect on the motivation, economical status, and time period of both Nora and Mrs. Hale. Behind your actions, is a thought of motivation in, which allowed you to fully engage one into an activity or decision. Nora, in the play entitled A Doll House, began as a woman of innocence. Considering that Nora loved her family and husband in great depth, others were well aware that she lived a nearly perfect life. As her husband became ill and needed assistance, Nora searched in a different region from where they held their residency to seek the assistance needed. • 11. Heart Of Darkness, By Joseph Conrad The political philosopher Benjamin Constant argued, no one has a right to a truth which injures others. The question of lying has been debated for centuries: where should one draw the line with lying? Should one try to never tell lies? Can the public handle the truth? In Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness, Marlow, the protagonist, tried to answer this conundrum. He lied three times during the course of his story, each time becoming larger than the last. As the philosopher Kant argued, once a lie is told, the concept of truth itself is attacked, leading to increasingly great lies until they become too large for the liar himself. In this novella, Marlow began by lying to someone of no consequence; subsequently he lied to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A reader wants to trust the author. The way the book is written, as someone else s story, makes the reader question what is being said. How does one know that the speaker is trustworthy when they can tell he is hiding his true feelings from himself and the others at some parts in the story? The first time that Marlow introduced the idea of lying is when he let the first class agent at the Central Station believe he was more influential than he actually was. After committing this minor falsehood, he explained in depth that it was unusual for him to lie, as if to assure the reader not to worry. Explaining not only to the men on the Nellie, but also to the readers, You know I hate, detest, and can t bear a lie, not because I am straighter than the rest of us, but simply because it appalls me. He lowered himself to the level of the pilgrims, the worst of society in their power hungry mindset, because of his lie. Another important aspect of this quote is that it was said before Marlow entered the wildness of Africa, and it s as if he lost his innocence of the world. Saint Anselm s Ontological Argument Marlo Louden Intro to Philosophy Prof. Altilio 14 July 2015 Saint Anselm s Ontological Argument The debate over the existence of God has been going on for, quite literally, thousands of years. Whether it was a Christian God or Pagan gods, there were always those who didn t believe or would refute the existence of these gods. Despite one s stance on religion, it is known that churches and monasteries in the past were some of the key places for development of education, and even philosophy. Paul emphatically instructs his readers concerning spiritual warfare that Christians are involved in and his definition, at least to me, is a chilling reminder that we are engaged in a battle. The Bible contains numerous scriptures and accounts of spiritual warfare, too numerous for us to deny the fact that it does exist. Now the level of our battles varies from person to person, nevertheless, a relationship with Jesus signifies we are engaged in a battle with our adversary. I agree with the thought a good work allows for multiple interpretations because when I read J.K. I read the books and never once thought of Dumbledore as gay, but other s that read the books, and the author whom wrote them interpreted him as gay. Neither their interpretations nor my own are wrong according to the pluralist view because both are plausible, viable interpretations. While in the books there is not a single statement that clearly displays Dumbledore as gay, there is also not a statement that clearly displays him being heterosexual, either. With that thought in mind, one could assume that the sexual orientation could not possibly be knowledge attained by anyone because it is not disclosed in the book, but that does not give any justification to dismissing the interpretation of him being either hetero or homosexual. The pluralist view hits a dead end because there is always the open question of how to distinguish between a plausible and implausible interpretation. Most people would argue from a monist stand point that because the author said the meaning was one thing then they must be right, but post structuralist Barthes says that the author is not meant to be the arbiter of meaning (Hicks, 83), but rather the work itself. • 16. Persuasive Essay On The Pension Crisis Pension Crisis When looking at for a governor that will contribute to a state s long term success, one must look for the candidate that is not promising quick, instant relief, as citizens will have to pay for it eventually. In the gubernatorial debate, while both candidates are unable to fully answer the pension crisis question, Kim Guadagno seems to have the best ideas for addressing the issue. Phil Murphy s take on the issue is that he desires to fully fund pension obligations as fast as possible, as this will gain the trust of New Jersey citizens back. This sounds great in theory, but it is important to look at how he is going to do this; in the debate he is unable to explain his plan. Guadagno addresses the issue by stating that in order to fix the problem, fifteen billion dollars of New Jersey s thirty four billion dollar budget will be required. This would mean budget cuts in almost all other areas of spending such as education and transportation. While Phil Murphy s plan seems great, Guadagno quickly makes it clear that it is nearly impossible to achieve. If Murphy were to achieve his goal, New Jersey citizens would pay the price, and they would continue to pay the price for a long time. Guadagno, while not clearly stating her plan, believes that it is best to address the issue with a thoughtful, affordable approach. Biochemical modification and rehearsal of synapses mediates the short term memory function. The hippocampus releases fresh memory traces with the cortex, eventually blending memory patterns in the cortex via gene expression into the protein modified synapses of long term memory. The blending process could take days or even weeks for deeply set long term memory. So synapses in the cortex that were first circuits for the short term memory became through rehearsal and blending molecularly engraved as long term memory.[7] An individual neuron can be a part of a lot of memory patterns.
