Perpetual Peace
Throughout Immanuel Kant s influential essay, Perpetual peace: A Philosophical Sketch. Kant
attempts to theorize peace and purposes that peace be permanentately established. He proclaims
these notions in two sections throughout his essay. The first being the preliminary articles and the
second the three definitive articles. States are to take the preliminary articles on immediately or
with intentional speed and the three definitive articles provide not simply a cessation of hostilities
but a foundation to build peace upon. Within these articles, Kant addresses many vital points such
as proposition one and proposition sixth, both of which I am in agreement with would help secure a
more utopia like future. My deviation with mister Kant, however, is a proposition he declares
within the first section of perpetual peace. In proposition five of the preliminary articles Kant stats,
No state shall forcibly interfere in the constitution and government of another state (Kant 70). This

The first and last propositions of the first section both affirm the potential of a peaceful future. The
former proposition states that No peace settlement which secretly reserves issues for a future war
shall be considered valid (Kant 67) and the latter stating No state shall allow itself such hostilities in
wartime as would make mutual trust in a future period of peace impossible (Kant 70). Both these
propositions highlight the necessity for the regression of aggression between states. For instance,
the first proposition requires not a truce, but perpetual peace that nullifies the causes of war. It calls
for a mortoturm not a ceasefire. Overall, it establishes the need to permanently establish perpetual
peace and discontinue the potential motives that lead to war which are notorious disagreements on
territory, resources, and self determination (such as ideological stances and

A Passage To India Essay
Why can t we be friends now? It s what I want. It s what you want. But India answers: No, not
yet...No, not there (p332). Forster s 1924 novel, A Passage to India, begins and ends with a simple
but complex question can the English and Indian races be friends and, at the end of the novel , the
answer appears to be no, No, not yet (p332). Forster creates a world in which there are no
connections, where Indians and Englishmen speak the same language but do not understand each
other. Friendship between Englishmen and native Indians, in the setting of the novel, is not only
frowned upon, but it is highly unlikely within the context of the British colonialism. The barriers
which prevent people from connecting and forming relationships,... Show more content on

As for Miss Quested, she accepted everything Aziz said as true verbally. In her ignorance, she
regarded him as India, and never surmised that his outlook was limited and his method inaccurate
and that no one is India (p143). This passage, taking place at Fielding s tea party later in Chapter
VII, brings to lights an undeniable difference between the English and the Indians. Forster
shows that the Indians value the emotion and purpose behind a statement more than the literal
words being said. Even though Dr. Aziz is ashamed because of his circumstances which don t
allow him to have a mansion or luxuries in his home and the fact that he has not been to the
Marabar Caves, he tries to fit in and socialise regardless of the differences between him and Mrs.
Moore and Adela Quested. Aziz often tells lies in order to keep a conversation progressing
smoothly and because he does not want to be seen as an Indian who cannot relate to what is being
said whereas the English value statements that are true. The tea party at Fielding s home is an
event which shows that people of different beliefs can socialise in an informal manner while getting
along despite the colonialism which is taking place Fielding, as seen in this quotation, respects
statements for their mood as well as their truth and this shows that he has learned to accept and

Absorbance and Spectrophotometry
Experiment 2: Absorbance and Spectrophotometry
ABSTRACT:
This was an investigation into the effects of different wavelengths of light on methylene blue and
carmine red on the absorbance value on a spectrophotometer. A spectrophotometer is used to
measure light intensity by emitting a single light source through a cuvette of coloured solution. The
particles in the solution, which are coloured, absorb the light depending on how concentrated it is
and this produces an electronic reading from the photometer which is the absorbance value. The
maximum absorption was found for both solutions and was used to calculate the molar extinction
coefficient of methylene blue. An unknown concentration of methylene blue was calculated by using

Figure 4. Graph showing dilutions of methylene blue and the absorptions each solution gives
The black line on figure 4 represents the regression line. We can use this to find the concentration of
the unknown concentration of methylene blue solution by drawing a tangent to the regression line
at absorbance 0.262 (where the unknown absorbed) and reading down from that point on the graph
to the concentration. The concentration of the unknown methylene blue is 4.4 x 10 6 mol dm 3.
We can find the molar extinction coefficient by substituting values of absorbance and the
concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue into Beer s laws equation.
Absorbance = k c t
k = absorbance / c t
k = 0.262 / 4.4 x 10 6 x 1
k = 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3
Therefore, k, the molar extinction coefficient is 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3.
DISCUSSION:
The main objectives of this experiment was to find the unknown concentration of methylene blue
by using a spectrophotometer. I found the maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red
(please refer to figure 1) and using this I determined a more accurate maximum absorption value for
each solution by taking further readings around the peak of each line to determine the maximum.
However, the findings of maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red may not be as
accurate as we think

ECI 430, Paul Harvey Project
John was born May 10, 1838 on a farm outside Baltimore, Maryland. He was the fifth of six
surviving children. John enjoyed his childhood, but his father was haunted by alcoholism and
spells of madness. His father had often been dismissed as a crazy and drunken actor. Like most
children, John aspired to follow in his father s footsteps; therefore, John blossomed into a
performing actor and like his father suffered from an extreme case of alcoholism. Growing up on
a farm in Maryland meant that John had been born into a world in which slavery was apart of the
accepted order of things. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the doorkeepers and ticket takers recognized John because of his career in acting and
former performances at the theater. When he entered the theater, he shook hands with a man,
conversed briefly, and then entered the door that led to the parquet and the dress circle. The
dress circle was the area in front of the stage intended for actors to stay during the mist of the
production. After spending some time watching the play, John made his way back through the
hallway and ascended the staircase to the first balcony, located on the same level as the VIP box.
Mistaken as an usher, John was welcomed into the box and the door was closed behind him. The
box was decorated beautifully; fit for a king.
You may be thinking John got lucky and enjoyed the rest of the play from the box located on the
first balcony, draped in American flags, and relished in the fine company of the occupants. That is
wishful thinking, here s the rest of the story...
John didn t accidentally walk into the reserved box. He intended to. He carefully planned his
entrance into the theater and into the reserved box carrying a concealed loaded .44 caliber pistol.
That night John visited the theater in Washington DC on April 14, 1865 he enacted one of the
greatest tragedies in American history. John Wilkes Boothmurdered the honored guest for the
evening performance, president Abraham Lincoln. Six days earlier, Lt. General Ulysses S.

Essay on The History of Five Churches in London
The churches of London have been through a lot over the past few centuries and the show us every
major phase of English history. The church had a great importance in the medieval society and
transitioned now to the modern days. There are little events that changed the buildings inside and
outside such as the laying of LondonUnderground which damaged only one churches and there are
big incidence such as the Great fire of Londonwhich completely destroyed or severely damaged
over 80 churches.
Since there are so many churches I focused on just five different ones and their historic
background. All of them are set in the City of London, which is the center of the much bigger city
London and are still in use today.

A new way of building a church was with a cross in square plan, that is said to be a dutch
influence, and a very untraditional nave and aisles with subsidiary chapels.
A lot of churches needed a general rebuilding in the 18th and 19th century such as St.Bartholomew
the Great and All Hallows London Wall. These restoration were needed because of dissolution and
decay. During the 19th century declining population and church attendance in the city intersected
with growing appreciation of the buildings . Because of that Bishop Tait enforced the Union of
Benefices Act of 1860 which lead to the demolition of 16 city churches.
Around that time St.Nicholas Cole Abbey was disturbed during the laying of the London
Underground and St.Bride s Fleet Street was struck by lightening and needed some restoration.
A much bigger impact had the damage that was caused by bombs during the second World War.
St. Olave Hart Street for example was hit by four strikes and was restored in 1951 1954. Other
Churches such as All Hallows London Wall and St.Bride s Fleet Street had some serious war
damage and St.Nicholas Cole Abbey was burnt out in 1941 and reconstructed in 1961 1962. Even
though those churches needed some restoring architects of the 20th century tried to keep it as
original as possible and focused on the old parts of the church without any modern influence.
Throughout these years the churches were adapted

Destruction Of Rwanda
Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up
between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the
people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as
an entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following
World War I. Rwandais located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and
surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3).
Roughly 85% of Rwanda s population consists of Hutus and the remaining 15% Tutsi, with a small
population of Twa, a Pygmy group who were the original inhabitants of Rwanda [The Rwandan
Genocide, 2009]. Though the Tutsis are thought to have migrated into the Rwandan and Burundi
area from the southern highlands of Ethiopia and the Hutus are characterized as earlier inhabitants
of Rwanda and Burundi. The two ethnic groups now inhabit much ... Show more content on

Most of the framers of the constitution either attended or graduated college, were involved in the

This was because The Articles had a weak central government. The Articles of Confederation were
created by the Continental Congress in 1777. The federal government did not have enough power
in order to assemble the military. Congress mostly relied on the state militias for security because
the Articles of Confederation did not have a national military. The Constitution allows the
government to create a military. The United States government owns/controls its own military. In
the Articles of Confederation every state had their own smaller military. The government can
create and impose taxes. Government are able to make taxes as long as they are voted for and

Congress was the only branch of the central government and was unable to collect taxes to use

The Ethical Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing
A rabbit is sitting in a cramped, icy metal cage. They are lying in a pool of their own blood, for they
have accommodated the neurotic behavior of pulling their own hair out. This innocent hare has
gone through the melancholy torture that is animal testing. Most people deem that animal testing is
a form of cruelty. Animal testing can cause major injury, psychological damage, and even death;
how ethical is it, actually? The opposing side argues that there is not a safe alternative to animal
testing. According to the California Biomedical Research Association, studying cells in a petri dish
does not produce an opportunity to study different reactions that can occur in the circulatory,
nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. (source) By using petri dishes, a result of higher
relevancy emerges because they are actual humancells. There are also methods such as microdosing.
Microdosing is the distribution of the chemicals, doses far too miniscule to be harmful, to living
volunteers. This procedure allows scientists to study how the body reacts and stores the chemicals
without any damage or pain done to the volunteer. Others argue that computer models are only
reliable if there has already been information gathered from animal testing. Due to recent
technological advances, sheets of artificial human skinthat is made from authentic human skin cells
can be used to test for skin irritants. Microfluidic chips, human cells designed to function as
accurately as human organs, are in

military sanctions against Iraq, Washington s own unilateral to take no fly zones in northern and

focuses on Julian, his mother, and their relationship which is a parasitic relationship [that]

society in her era, which African Americans roam free. In her opinion, she thinks they should be a
lower class than her. Her signs of disgust are shown when she tells Julian of her Grandfather s
plantation after an African Americanman enters the bus with a newspaper. When the man sits
down and reads, the mother exclaims to Julian that Now you see why I won t ride on these
buses by myself (O Connor 452). She does feel sorry for. . . the ones that are half white (O

People actually need to interact effectively and socialize with other people from other cultures.
Nowadays, globalization has opened the doors for people to improve their inter cultural

people and it also refers to behaviors, values and experiences that people learn and passed to
generations Merriam Webster (2010). On the other hand, cultureencounters is a concept used in

culture and the American culture, he becomes just a one out of many or a mixed character with
mixed cultures in a multicultural community. He belongs neither to the American culture nor to the

life of isolation and alienation.

Thanatopsis By William Cullen Bryant
William Cullen Bryant s poem Thanatopsis is centered around the theme of death. Bryant manages
to keep the poem joyful and uplifting trying to help young readers understand that death is
unavoidable. He is able to convey the idea of death by comparing it to nature and making it much
less threatening. Deathis a part of the circle of life and nature is full of examples to reinforce this
idea.
In the first stanza, Bryant uses nature to describe death. He gives nature human traits such as voice,
emotions, beauty, and thought. By doing this, he takes the fear out of death and makes it appear
more peaceful. Through his words voice of gladness it takes away the apprehension of the unknown.

Essay On Gelato
Gelato has an interesting history and originally dates back to frozen treats and desserts of Sicily
in Italy, Egypt, and even ancient Rome; in which it was produced from the ice and snow of
mountaintops before being brought down and preserved below ground level to keep it cold.
Gelato soon became popular among a large portion of the population of Italian cities, one in
particular was Florence. Nevertheless, its popularity only began to increase between the 1920s and
1930s before the first gelatocart was developed in the city of Varese.

That s right, gelato dates as far back as to the 16th century. However there has always been a

Typically credit has always been handed to a man native to Florence, called Bernardo Buontalenti;
who supposedly delighted the court of Catherina dei Medici with the tasty frozen dessert.
Nevertheless, Italians have always been credited with introducing gelato to America and also the

Portrayal Of Women In The 1950s
How woman started in TV
Women stereotypes through the decades The idea of television began since the 1820s but it was
until 1927 when the 21 year old Philo T. Farnsworth produce the first electronic television picture.
Experimental broadcast began, featuring music, wrestling, and dance; however, it was until the
1950s that TV really became the new form of mass entertainment. Nevertheless, in all the shows
that were produced women was denigrated and producers focused mainly on their physical
appearance and not their intellect capacity. Ward and Harrison stated, TV has depicted females by
focusing on their physical characteristics, sexual appeal, and romantic success, whether they are
housewives, mothers, or objects of desire. Women did not have a choice, they were placed on TV
shows with a certain stereotype needed to be fulfilled by them, and because they wanted to work
they did not deny the job, therefore, they encouraged the stereotype.

Persuasive Speech About Suicide
So this is a topic that I have been wanting to write for a very long time because I think that it is
something that everyone has been impacted in some way or another. I kept making excuses why
not to talk about this, but today while I was at work the song In The End by Linkin Park came on.
Now if you know me very well at all you will know that Linkin Parkis my favorite band of all time,
and I think that most people know, but if you don t know their lead singer Chester Bennington
committed suicidealmost a month ago. The man was fighting demons of sexual abuse from when
he was a kid along with drug and alcohol abuse for years and it caught up to him. He was the
father of six kids and had a wife he had a successful career and seemed like a happy man. Yet,
unfortunately, he took his life.
I know this is a very taboo topic and that a lot of people don t like talking about, especially inside
the Mormon community. It is something that I believe we need to be able to talk about more. I
really believe that those who suffer from depression as well as other things that can lead to suicide
need to be able to feel comfortable about talking about how they feel without any judgement from
those around them. This in turn I believe will help them realize how much they are loved by those
around them and hopefully will not make a decision such as suicide.
I don t know how many of you have known someone who has committed suicide, but it is

INTRODUCTION
The existence of gender classification determines our sexual segmentation. They are classified as
either males or females. These gender classifications are also used as bases of physical work
capacities, clothing preferences, decisions for priority and the like. More often than not, these
segmentations represent the differences of their demographic and psychographic profiles. However,
the existence of homosexuality has blurred these distinguishing features. Moreover, this

Factors included would be the existence of self confessed homosexual characters or celebrities,
fictional or non fictional, in television shows, radio programs, or in pieces of literature that shed
positive light on homosexuality. The influences by these people can be observed in the increasing
number of gays who start coming out of the closets.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Homosexuality is commonly defined as the sexual interest and romantic attraction in members of
the same sex. In contrast, heterosexuality is sexual attraction to the opposite sex, while bisexuality
is attraction to both sexes. Like heterosexuality and bisexuality, homosexuality is evident in sexual
dreams and fantasies, sexual acts, romantic attraction, and falling in love.
The terms homosexual and heterosexual were coined by the sexual law reformer K. M. Benkert,
and used in an article he wrote for a German newspaper in 1869. They were then all forgotten until
rediscovered by the Berlin sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld in 1905. Homosexuality is derived from
the Greek homos, meaning same (heteros means other), and Latin sexus, meaning sex.
Homosexuality then quickly became the accepted scientific and everyday term for referring to
same sex contacts, between either men or women.
The term lesbian gained popularity more than a century ago. Today, it is the accepted term for
female homosexuality. It derives

Midlife Behavior Essay examples
From the life course perspective, midlife behavior has both antecedents and consequences.
Earlier life experiences can serve either as risk factors or as protective factors for the health and
well being during this stage of development. According to the study Journey from Childhood to
Midlife completed by Werner and Ruth Smith in 2001, by middle adulthood, most people have
noted a balancing in their lives and improvement in overall quality of their lives. The period of
early adulthood had provided positive turning points such as community college, marriage to a
stable partner or military service. A contributing factor is relationships that provided emotional
support as well. The presence of a nurturing caregiver from infancy, as well as... Show more content

The two other theorists, Jung and Levinson held similar views. Karl Jung and Daniel Levinson
theorized that middle adulthood was time for balancing a person s life much like Erikson.
However, Jung sees as a time for discovery and reclaiming parts of the self that was repressed in
the search for conformity in the first half of life. On the other hand, Daniel Levinson sees the life
course more as a sequence of eras each with his own biopsychosocial character with major changes
from one to the next. Levinson sees adulthood as fluctuating periods of relative stability and periods
of transition. He viewed the developmental stage as balancing four opposing aspects of identity and
to understand the life, and more importantly, the personality theory, developed by Carl Jung, it is
important to note the time span in which he lived. Jung s insight shows the human need for a
relationship. All three theorists felt relationships had an impact on human development and thus
relationships in middle adulthood deserve further examination.
Relationships play significant roles throughout the life course and this is especially true in middle
adulthood. The relationships are the most diverse and many of them mature and evolve through the
stages of development while others just begin to emerge. This is seen in infancy with the most
significant relationship being their caregiver and in middle childhood it moves beyond

Lord Of Flies Book Vs Lord Of The Flies
The Inner Beast Emerges
The beast that lies inside of us all shows what it can do when it has a chance too.
By Daniel Frankel
The Lord of the Flies is a 250 page novel written by Sir William Golding. It was first published in
1954 and since then, has become a worldwide success. A quote from Golding was The right
impression is the one that rises to the reader the first time he reads the book , This was perfectly
suited for his book, as his book was a best seller. The movie based on the novel Lord of the Flies
was first made in 1963 in black and white, then made again in colour in 1990 by Harry Hook. The
movie has many deviations from the book however the storyline is basically the same and proved
a success by grossing just under $14 million in the box office, making it a major film for the time
period. Because this novel was such a success schools all around are still studying it in senior
English.
The Lord of the flies novel, starts at a reasonable pace and doesn t let the reader lose interest. Sir
William Golding writes very descriptively and creates the images very clearly. For example his
hair plastered to his forehead this gives the impression of heat, sweat, and steamy air. The story
starts when a group of British school boys are stranded on an uninhabited island. Trying to
maintain structure, the boys elect Ralph to be the leader, a position, Ralph, feels a duty as the
eldest to fulfil. However, one of the other boys Jack wants to also be the leader, and

The Scientific Systems Of Engineering Management
Introduction
Engineering Management refers to a specialized type of management which is primarily concerned
with the application of certain engineering principles to business activities or practice. In other
words, Engineering Management can be said to be a career which unites the technological problem
solving aspect of engineering and the administrative, planning, and organizational capabilities of
management to facilitate the efficient operation of activities within a sophisticated establishment
from the start to the end.
Primarily, Engineering Management focuses on the planning, installation, improvement, and design
of integrated systems of material, people, information, energy, and equipment. This is achieved
through utilization of specialized skills and knowledge in the physical sciences, social sciences, and
mathematical disciples. This knowledge and expertise are integrated into methods and principles of
engineering analysis and design (Haverila and Fehr 574). Through this incorporation, they can
evaluate, specify, and predict results that are likely to be obtained. The scientific systems in
engineering management are majorly responsible for designing, implementing, and developing
models to be used as the basis for evaluation and analysis of results. Comparative analysis is
achieved by taking into consideration the relationship that exists between engineering aspects and
the management duties such as organizing, planning, controlling, and leading. Moreover, these

My Papa s Waltz And For My Daughter
Throughout the second half of this semester, we have read poems that all had some type of
comparison. It may not have been an obvious comparison, but most of these poems had at least
one. In the poems, My Papa s Waltz and For My Daughter, both describe a beloved family
member. They both put in clear detail of the positive and negative things about said familymember.
These poems both describe someone misunderstanding or mistreating another. It is amazing how
each of these poems can describe or be told about a certain problem and how they all can relate in
some type of way. The reason behind that is because everyone no matter who they are all goes
through the same situations as the next person. Whether it is, gender, age, religion, race or even
education, there is something that can connect one to another. In the poem, My Papa s Waltz, by
Theodore Roethke, the narrator is the small boy mentioned in the second line. He thoroughly
describes every little thingabout what his father is doing; this shows the large amount of imagery
in the poem. This connection is obviously between a boy and his father; hence the title of the
poem. Speaking of the title of the poem, it is exactly what is named. A waltz is a song written in

The Bills win the game over fellow AFC East team, the Jets by five points. They took advantage
of three field goals made by kicker Dan Carpenter, and a fumble recovery returned for a
touchdown to win the game and further their chances at making the playoffs. On the other hand,
the Jets are 1 3 in their last four games. The two teams will play again this season, the next
matchup will take place in Ralph Wilson Stadium, where the Bills play, in the very last game of the

[1] If a student, or an advisor makes a mistake in calculating the student s credits and pre requisites,
or if the student has other issues with registration (course substitutions, department approvals, etc),
the student is then forced to create more appointments with the advisor to get things on track for
them. This process points to challenges in the academic advising model that leaves students
disconnected from their education and can result in more dire consequences including delayed
graduation. In the work of Luna, Gaye, et.al, the authors stated that E advising can establish a
support system for rural graduate students by creating a means of accessibility and communication.
Through e advising, rural graduates students have an opportunity to self direct and contribute to
their own educational advisement needs. Universities can use e advising to foster successful
students by creating more accessibility and communication. [2] While course work and advising at
the graduate level has it s distinctions from advising at the undergraduate level, some core concepts
still ring true. Advising through technology empowers the students to take charge of their
education, and ensure their goals are being met according to their schedule. Though digital
assistants aren t capable of filling the full role of a human academic advisor, giving students access
to key, basic information will make all advising more effective.

Community Music And Wellness Paper
This phenomenological study explored the wider issues of the effects of music to wellness. Because
Americans are enjoying up to 40 additional years of life (Population Reference Bureau, 2013) many
healthy older adults choose community music participation as an activity. In the current study,
participants were either solo artists or members of small to large ensembles who began music
education in childhood and developed music competencies of advanced, expert, and or virtuoso
skills. Our research shows that music identity determined PMs values and beliefs to maintain their
wellness for community music participation; this compares favorably with Dolfsma (1999). This
study agrees with Hays (2005) in that singing and playing instruments maintains cardiovascular
functioning and several domains of wellness. Likewise, this study agrees with other researchers
(Bowers, 1998; Hays Minichiello, 2005; Joseph Southcott, 2014; Skingley, Martin, Clift, 2015), that
music promotes wellness. Most PMs reported that community music was the reason they enjoyed
wellness, which was a core priority to sustaining their participation in community music. However,
it is problematic to discern whether their desire to be as healthy as possible for improved musical
performance, or whether musical performance contributed significantly to... Show more content on

The Mississippi Appendectomy Study The Mississippi Appendectomy study started taking place

the Deep South. Poor Black women were the main focus of the experiments as well as disabled

The doctors believed it was in order to perform the hysterectomies because the women seemed unfit

an appendectomy (removal of the appendix), the doctors would perform the hysterectomies which
were unrelated to the problem with the patients appendix. Therefore, the hysterectomies were

the women deprived of their right to reproduce and no significant benefits to science. The

Transformational Leadership
A leader is someone who has the ability to influence followers that have the same determination
and outcomes for change as they do. Not all leaders are famous people, or people in high
positions of power. There are leaders all around us. They are just ones that possess leadership
qualities that not all people have. This does not mean though that they are born leaders. This also
doesn t mean that all leaders are good leaders. They can also harm society, like Hitler. People build
their leadershipqualities through life experiences. Great leaders are able to effectively influence
their subordinates. This influencing is usually done by using their authority. Most people tend to

I think that it is easier for people to follow a person that inspires them. A person with a vision and
passion can achieve great things, both very valuable traits to have. If I can inject enthusiasm and
energy into myself and others, many great things can be achieved. In the future when I am in a
leadership position I want to be able to develop my followers by making sure that they possess the
passion and energy needed to work towards our organization s common goal. I want to care about
them and make sure that they succeed at what they want to accomplish. Working for a
transformational leader should be a wonderful uplifting experience.
Transformational leadership starts with the development of a vision. This should be a view of the
future that will grab the attention, excite and convert potential followers. Once the vision has
been developed, you will have to constantly sell the vision. This will probably take a lot of energy
and commitment, because few people will automatically believe in your vision. A transformational
leader should take every opportunity available to convince others to climb on their bandwagon. In
order to create followers, the transformational leader has to be careful in creating trust, and their
personal integrity is a critical part in what they are selling. Therefore, they are selling themselves as
well as the vision. The common

Stages Of Social Location
1.Social location is the idea that a groups members belong in the group because of their place or

their social class, gender, ability, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location.
Membership within each group brings forth a certain set of social roles and rules, power, and

The social problem I decided to explain was the growing rate of simple and complex terrorist
attacks in developed countries. In the past few years we ve seen a significant spike in the rise of
terrorist attacks in the United States and it allies and its causing a major social problem.
Whether it be a bombing or just driving a van through a crowd of people, these attacks effect
people in multiple ways. One of the main ways is that it causes people to be afraid to go outside
and socialize which causes a disconnect between the population. Another way is that it cause
the citizens to mistrust the government, because it is supposed to keeping them safe and a
terror attack being successfully carried out means the government failed at its job. There are
many ways this could be fixed, but the problem is that a lot of Americans aren t willing to do
them because they involve giving up certain amounts of freedom. By this I mean allowing the
government to look at digital data on people as well as conversations to attempt to stop attacks
before the begin. Another way is to give the police and other feral law enforcement agencies
more power to arrest or detain terrorist suspects. This issue is one that a lot of people are
currently trying to come up with solutions to, and I think it will take a while before we are able to

Systems Theory Approach to Quality Care and Improved Patient Outcomes
Systems are developed in organizations to create linear direction for staff and leadership to follow.
Without policies and procedures, the result would be chaos. In respect to health care institutions,
systems provide a safety net for nurses and patients. The purpose of this paper is to review systems
theory and how open systems can help organizations reach goals, meet standards of care and
improve patient outcomes.
Systems Theory
Nurses who work on progressive care units, also known as step down units, care for patients with
various diagnoses and higher levels of patient care needs. As government demands quality systems
to be developed, and reimbursement rates are affected, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses should also empower patients to ask questions and learn how to be an advocate for
themselves (Seale et al., 2015). A patient may be reluctant to ask a physician to wash their hands
due to fear of offending or repercussions to their health care (Seale et al., 2015). A nurse knows
this is best practice, and patients should be collaborators with physicians and their healthcare
worker (Seale et al., 2015).
Alignment with Mission, Vision, and Values
Ohio State University s mission statement states they are driven to improve lives with innovation in
education, patient care and research (www.osumc.edu). Being innovators consists of education of
staff and patients. The step down unit has numerous posters, brochures, education materials and
educators that work with patients at the admission, inpatient and discharge processes throughout
their hospitalization. Core values of serving diverse populations, being accountable, seeking
excellence through collaboration and research helps to develop trust within the community
(www.osumc.edu).
This statement does align with the goals to decrease HAI s. Research into cures, education of
staff, following protocols based on evidence based practice from the medical campus and other s
that are partnered with and collaborative in their efforts to provide

Life Of A Blessed And Faithful Man By J. Gerald Janzen Essay
The Book of Job dives into the life of a blessed and faithful man in which his life takes an
unsuspecting turn. From the loss of property and loved ones, to only be accused of wickedness
by friends as the explanation of this calamity that has befallen Job. Author J. Gerald Janzen,
whose personal struggle has opened a corridor that creates a connection with the life of Job takes
us on a walk with Job through his journey from prosperity, to loss and bitterness then into the
presence of God. At the Scent of Water will open our mind to the possibility of hope and grace to
anyone who has gone through sufferingin the past or is going through times of difficulty in the
presence.
The author uses distancing strategy to enable the engagement of the exilic and postexilic
community. To highlight the two biblical paradigms for divine human relationship, clan personal
and cosmic political associated to Abraham and Moses that is evident the history of Israel. The text
also plays out the argument between Job and friends within the Mosaic paradigm. The text also
identifies the elements of the ancestral paradigm as reflected in the introduction of the name and
themes of Shadday. We also see the paradigm of clan religion is primary in the book of job. With
references to the two domains of human experience, the familial and the political and the
associated models of religious understanding come together in Job s oath to give healing and ease
of pain. The text also provides a reflection on

Improving The Awareness Of Cervical Cancer
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
NEED FOR THIS RESEARCH:
1.To find the efficiency of Affordable Care Act in increasing the awareness of Cervical Cancer.
2.Dr. Ahmedin Jemal, one of the researchers said that the change of early detection and insurance
coverage for young under their own parents, made it impossible to compare the total number of
women who got screened before and after the health care law came into effect.
SOURCE OF DATA COLLECTED:
Researchers used the National Cancer Data Base, a hospital based registry of about 70 percent of
all cancer cases in the United States.
RESEARCH METHOD:
They compared diagnoses for women ages 21 to 25 who had cervical cancer with those for women
ages 26 to 34, before and after the health law provision began in 2010.
FINDINGS:
1. Findings are positive and showed a rise in early stage diagnoses among the younger group. About
79% of the younger group had an early stage diagnosis in 2011 12, when compared to 71% in 2007
09.
2. For the older group, the percentage dropped to 71 percent from 73 percent, a change that is not
statistically meaningful.
3. The effect for younger women looked even stronger when analyzed by year. About 84 percent
of the younger group had early stage diagnoses in 2011, compared with 68 percent in 2009.
4. Early stage diagnoses dropped to 72 percent of the group in 2012, a drop that was typical during
increases in screenings, because many of the early stage cases have already been detected.
5. You see the effect of the

Micro Hydro System For The De Pulper Essay
Micro Hydro System for the De Pulper Micro Hydro power systems can be applied to a wide
range of energy needs throughout the world wherever an ideal site is available. On a small
organic farm in Nicaragua, Finca Esperanza Verde (FEV), a direct drive micro hydro system is
being used to power a coffee de pulper (Raichle, Sinclair Ferrell, 2012). This paper will build
upon existing data on the system and will explore options for directing the water after it has gone
through the system to effectively suit the needs of the farm. The applications of the system could
be prevalent throughout the coffee growing regions of Latin America where there are water
resources and small scale coffee farms. Coffee is 8.1% or $438 Million of Nicaragua s exports,
which makes it the second most exported commodity in the county (Nicaragua, n.d.). The energy
force that is driving the harvesting and processing is predominantly manual labor (Raichle et al.,
2012).
Coffee Harvesting and System Design
First a coffee cherry is picked from the plant, once a basket is full of the cherries it is brought to
the de pulper that is traditionally hand cranked. Meanwhile, water comes from the top of the farm
in a pond and flows down to the beneficio, where the de pulper is located, through the penstock
that is a 2 pipe to the pipe that splits off between the micro hydro system into a 1ВЅ pipe and the
bean washing tanks (Sinclair, 2016). For the micro hydro system the water can flow through one or

Holden Caulfield is Lost in The Catcher in the Rye Essay
In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, the leading character, Holden Caulfield, emerges as an
adolescence lost in his own private world of pain and suffering, yet ostensibly he was able to
provide himself with all the luxuries and splendors of American society. Holden is presented as a
failure who struggles to stay in at least one of the four schools he s been kicked out of. This can
reflect that Holden can t manage to get by in life. Throughout the book, it is obvious that Holden is
running from so many things such as growing up, reality and people who are phonies. It seems that
Holden is confused and trapped in memories from moments past, that he is dealing with loneliness
and isolates himself as a form of protection. Not only that but he... Show more content on

Holden seems to be lonely and this can reflect back to Allie s death. He doesn t really have
anyone to catch him from falling into the ravine, off the rye field the way he would catch the
kids. He doesn t have anyone to motivate him to succeed. The reader is taken back and forth
between Holden s remembering and re living the traumatic pain of his past with his family and
the complete disconnect he has experienced. Allie s death changed all of Holden s family as well
as himself. It s almost as if when Allie died, the household died. When Holden broke the
windows in the garage, on the night Allie died, he said, My hand still hurts me once in a while
when it rains and all, and I can t make a real fist... I mean I m not going to be a goddam surgeon
or violinist or anything anyway (Salinger 39). This disconnect Holden is experiencing between
him and his parents is causing him to lose motivation to succeed in school and in life. According
to Freud, it s Holden s unconscious state of mind that drives his defense mechanism to seclude
himself from his parents and actually other adults as well. Much like J.D. Salinger. Salinger lived
in seclusion in Cornish, New Hampshire for his last fifty one years of a lonely life. He wanted to
live a private life and didn t want to be bothered. The defense mechanism is In Freudian theory, the

Thornton Wilder s Our Town
Nothing to say, nothing to do, and nothing to see but people. In this imagery, one notices the
description of a small town. One can also generalize rural communities receive only themselves
for entertainment, comfort, or practically anything. Thornton Wilder captures exactly that idea in
his play Our Town, where he examines three pillars to the lives of a 1900s town, Grover s
Corners, NH, in three acts. In the first act, he observes the daily life of citizens, with all their
familiarity and pleasantries to one another. Second, Wilder captures the pillar of love and marriage
through observing two high school lovers. Third and last, life s fragility, timeliness, and flaws,
where the view of ghosts provides an interesting take on humans. So, to... Show more content on

Play character, Emily Webb, as a ghost seeing her living father, contributes a meaningful
reflection to discuss, as she says, I never realized before how troubled and how...how in the dark
live persons are (57). In this world of Emily s, the dead can visit memories, and look on only
from the grave s perspective at the present, where she pities the living. Those alive never truly
know what comes of the dead, and thus mourn and churn at the sight of the unknown, as she
correctly states. As death will always stay the same in the past as the future, this ignorance of
death provides a similarity. Similarly, life s fragility, flaws too, hold the same constancy of death;
as Wilder s orchestrations of his characters emphasize both the rapidity at which life can seize, and
how blind the living pass through it. Explaining, one never stops to think, for example, isn t this
wonderful, as characters point out. Again, this flaw in humans perception of time still lingers to
this day. In sum, one cannot find much for differences in life s elemental nature, as most human
characteristics cannot exist in any other way, past or

The Importance Of Dress Codes
Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are
nothing new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett
on the Toronto Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at
their habits... often expressed by their wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes
pose to have no actual effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress
codeor without it kids will do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable
adults in the working class ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes have been proven
unnecessary and therefore, have no positive benefits on students.
Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George
for the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her
leggings which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are
shown supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks
filed a civil right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and
engage in body shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being
given the right to determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being
victimized feel as if she s doing something wrong and should be ashamed of

Napoleon s Return to France Essay
Napoleon returned to home to France with only about 10% of his Army still alive. He lost most
of his soldiers during the Great White Death, which is one of the largest French disasters to date.
Since all the coalition allies knew he was in trouble, they decided to follow him and take him out
while he was down and burned out. This is when he decided to give himself up and be exiled to
Elba with 1000 guards. Before he left though, he promised his men that he, ... would return when
the flowers bloomed. And that was a promise that Napoleon kept. When he returned to France he
came face to face with Marshal Nay but as an enemy and not a friend. Marshal Nay had started

Unfortunately, for Napoleon there was two days of rain that mad this particular area very
muddy. Napoleons forces where divided since Grouchy was keeping a close eye on Blucher. If
only they would have known that he should have stayed with Napoleon they would have won
Waterloo instead it was a drawn out battle that caused a lot of bloodshed on La Belle Alliance
Ridge. Waterloo didn t get started till 11:35 am because the ground was too muddy to get his
cannons into place. Once he did get his cannons into place he decided he wanted to take
Hougomont. Hougomont became a huge headache to Napoleon because he would constantly try
to take it and never did during the entire battle. Picton ordered Major General William Ponsoby,
who led the Scots Grays, to attack the French. Every English boy would have wanted to be one
of those brave men at the time. They collided with the French lancers and they were annihilated.
The Scots Grays tried to ever turn back but not one of them survived. While this was going on,
around 1:45 pm, Picton was shot in the head, through his top hat. Picton was not dressed in his
usual military uniform because Napoleon had attacked his train and stole his gear so all he had to
wear was a black suit and top hat. That particular hat is on display in a museum at waterloo. A

The Theory Of Development Concepts And Applications By...
Sadly, my early years of child rearing were not of heavy observation on my part! Our home was
one of somewhat traditional roles in terms of family dynamic. I worked long hours away from
the home and didn t have the one on one contact with our children that my wife had, and enjoyed.
I of course got the play by play from her, but in hind sight, I was deprived of so many beautiful
observations. Our text Theories of Development Concepts and Applications by William Crain
outlines human development by many theorists. A few of those are John Bowlby, Mary D.S.
Ainsworth, and Erik H. Erikson. I couldn t help but reminisce about the stages of my own
children s growth while reading the work of Bowlby, Ainsworth and Erikson. I remember having
my young children with me when ever it was possible, but what attachments to them might I
have missed while I was busy working or did I miss any at all? Bowlby s work on attachment
gives a compelling argument as to the importance of attachment in the first 6 months of a Childs
life. Ainsworth s work is focused on the idea of a child using the parent as a base for further
exploration of their surroundings. Erikson s work on the other hand considers the role of society
and culture in development. In reading these works, the theories appear to be easily stitched
together to give an all encompassing view of human development over an entire life time and how
our attachment to our parents is critical to that development. Let s further

An Interesting Software Design Technique
3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE
An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven
Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as
relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that
the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards
the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems
as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts,
emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts,
like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these
technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to
forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and
using the same common, ubiquitous language.
Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a
domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application
(which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the
different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application
at hand can probably be a better approach. This will both save

Constitutional Interpretation of Checks and Balances Essay
Constitutional Interpretation of Checks and BalancesThe problem of interpreting the Constitution
and framer s intent is a constantly permeating and troublesome question in the minds of Supreme
Court Justices, judges, prominent politicians, and policy makers alike. It is a problem that has
been pondered for years and years in the courtrooms and on paper with no real conclusion. One
such essay arguing this dilemma is How Not to Read the Constitution by Laurence H. Tribe and
Michael C. Dorf, who explore the questions Is reading the text just a pretext for expressing the
reader s vision in the august, almost holy terms of constitutional law? and Is the Constitution

The Articles of Confederation laid down some of the fundamentals of our national government,
but still it had many flaws, such as an inability to regulate commerce and an inability to tax,
among others (Scholastic Update, 2). The main players in the organizing and writing of the
Constitution are Alexander Hamilton of New York, James Madison of Virginia, and George
Washington. They believed in a stronger national government and Congress right to regulate
trade. In response to Shay s rebellion which consisted of farmers protesting taxes, a convention
was called for by Madison and Hamilton to be held in Philadelphia in 1787. It was during this
convention that the foundations for the Constitution were worked out. A completely new
government was created and put on paper between May 25 and the final signing of the
Constitution on September 17. The document was debated for sometime between Federalists and
Anti Federalists, but in December 1971 ten Bill of Rights were added to the Constitution in order
to give rights to the citizens of the United States. This pleased both sides, and the Constitution was
ratified (Scholastic Update, 4). The document produced from this convention has been the
effective law of the land for over 200 years. ...out of the chaos of the 1780s emerged the
Constitution, perhaps the most effective model of government ever devised. It was written by a
small group of quarreling people under intense pressure. They knew how difficult their job

Cause Of Judgement
People of the 21st century have portrayed their high level of intellectualism by making tremendous
achievements in the fields of technology and medicine, but at the same time they have showcased
their foolishness by forming opinions of other individuals. Their ability to view other people from a
moral perspective leads them to form judgements of other people. Matter of fact, judging has turned
into a habit for all of humanity and has hurt people mentally and physically. Without thinking of the
harmful effects judging can have on individuals, people form their opinions based on individuals
clothes, qualities, and even facial feature. Primarily, the phony ethics and assumptions lead people
to judge. In particular, one s bad upbringing, the insecurity and jealousy of human nature, and the
blind acceptance of information are the three main causes for passing judgement.
First, failing to preach the idea of individuality to younger generations leaves a negative impact on
their upbringing, thus leading them to judge individuals ignorantly. Teachings passed down to
children who support the ideas of arrogance and selfishness prevent them from understanding the
uniqueness of other independent minded individuals, resulting in the children judging other people.
One s selfishness and pride prevents that person from learning about the real challenges of life.
Blinded by the wicked feelings, that person will judge other people s gifts, talents, and traits. In
other words, a child taught

  • 2. Perpetual Peace Throughout Immanuel Kant s influential essay, Perpetual peace: A Philosophical Sketch. Kant attempts to theorize peace and purposes that peace be permanentately established. He proclaims these notions in two sections throughout his essay. The first being the preliminary articles and the second the three definitive articles. States are to take the preliminary articles on immediately or with intentional speed and the three definitive articles provide not simply a cessation of hostilities but a foundation to build peace upon. Within these articles, Kant addresses many vital points such as proposition one and proposition sixth, both of which I am in agreement with would help secure a more utopia like future. My deviation with mister Kant, however, is a proposition he declares within the first section of perpetual peace. In proposition five of the preliminary articles Kant stats, No state shall forcibly interfere in the constitution and government of another state (Kant 70). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and last propositions of the first section both affirm the potential of a peaceful future. The former proposition states that No peace settlement which secretly reserves issues for a future war shall be considered valid (Kant 67) and the latter stating No state shall allow itself such hostilities in wartime as would make mutual trust in a future period of peace impossible (Kant 70). Both these propositions highlight the necessity for the regression of aggression between states. For instance, the first proposition requires not a truce, but perpetual peace that nullifies the causes of war. It calls for a mortoturm not a ceasefire. Overall, it establishes the need to permanently establish perpetual peace and discontinue the potential motives that lead to war which are notorious disagreements on territory, resources, and self determination (such as ideological stances and ... • 3. A Passage To India Essay Why can t we be friends now? It s what I want. It s what you want. But India answers: No, not yet...No, not there (p332). Forster s 1924 novel, A Passage to India, begins and ends with a simple but complex question can the English and Indian races be friends and, at the end of the novel , the answer appears to be no, No, not yet (p332). Forster creates a world in which there are no connections, where Indians and Englishmen speak the same language but do not understand each other. Friendship between Englishmen and native Indians, in the setting of the novel, is not only frowned upon, but it is highly unlikely within the context of the British colonialism. The barriers which prevent people from connecting and forming relationships,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for Miss Quested, she accepted everything Aziz said as true verbally. In her ignorance, she regarded him as India, and never surmised that his outlook was limited and his method inaccurate and that no one is India (p143). This passage, taking place at Fielding s tea party later in Chapter VII, brings to lights an undeniable difference between the English and the Indians. Forster shows that the Indians value the emotion and purpose behind a statement more than the literal words being said. Even though Dr. Aziz is ashamed because of his circumstances which don t allow him to have a mansion or luxuries in his home and the fact that he has not been to the Marabar Caves, he tries to fit in and socialise regardless of the differences between him and Mrs. Moore and Adela Quested. Aziz often tells lies in order to keep a conversation progressing smoothly and because he does not want to be seen as an Indian who cannot relate to what is being said whereas the English value statements that are true. The tea party at Fielding s home is an event which shows that people of different beliefs can socialise in an informal manner while getting along despite the colonialism which is taking place Fielding, as seen in this quotation, respects statements for their mood as well as their truth and this shows that he has learned to accept and appreciate the ... • 4. Absorbance and Spectrophotometry Experiment 2: Absorbance and Spectrophotometry ABSTRACT: This was an investigation into the effects of different wavelengths of light on methylene blue and carmine red on the absorbance value on a spectrophotometer. A spectrophotometer is used to measure light intensity by emitting a single light source through a cuvette of coloured solution. The particles in the solution, which are coloured, absorb the light depending on how concentrated it is and this produces an electronic reading from the photometer which is the absorbance value. The maximum absorption was found for both solutions and was used to calculate the molar extinction coefficient of methylene blue. An unknown concentration of methylene blue was calculated by using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 4. Graph showing dilutions of methylene blue and the absorptions each solution gives The black line on figure 4 represents the regression line. We can use this to find the concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue solution by drawing a tangent to the regression line at absorbance 0.262 (where the unknown absorbed) and reading down from that point on the graph to the concentration. The concentration of the unknown methylene blue is 4.4 x 10 6 mol dm 3. We can find the molar extinction coefficient by substituting values of absorbance and the concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue into Beer s laws equation. Absorbance = k c t k = absorbance / c t k = 0.262 / 4.4 x 10 6 x 1 k = 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3 Therefore, k, the molar extinction coefficient is 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3. DISCUSSION: The main objectives of this experiment was to find the unknown concentration of methylene blue by using a spectrophotometer. I found the maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red (please refer to figure 1) and using this I determined a more accurate maximum absorption value for each solution by taking further readings around the peak of each line to determine the maximum. However, the findings of maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red may not be as accurate as we think

He was the fifth of six surviving children. John enjoyed his childhood, but his father was haunted by alcoholism and spells of madness. His father had often been dismissed as a crazy and drunken actor. Like most children, John aspired to follow in his father s footsteps; therefore, John blossomed into a performing actor and like his father suffered from an extreme case of alcoholism. Some of the doorkeepers and ticket takers recognized John because of his career in acting and former performances at the theater. When he entered the theater, he shook hands with a man, conversed briefly, and then entered the door that led to the parquet and the dress circle. The dress circle was the area in front of the stage intended for actors to stay during the mist of the production. After spending some time watching the play, John made his way back through the hallway and ascended the staircase to the first balcony, located on the same level as the VIP box. Mistaken as an usher, John was welcomed into the box and the door was closed behind him. The box was decorated beautifully; fit for a king. You may be thinking John got lucky and enjoyed the rest of the play from the box located on the first balcony, draped in American flags, and relished in the fine company of the occupants. That is wishful thinking, here s the rest of the story... John didn t accidentally walk into the reserved box. He intended to. He carefully planned his entrance into the theater and into the reserved box carrying a concealed loaded .44 caliber pistol. That night John visited the theater in Washington DC on April 14, 1865 he enacted one of the greatest tragedies in American history. A new way of building a church was with a cross in square plan, that is said to be a dutch influence, and a very untraditional nave and aisles with subsidiary chapels. A lot of churches needed a general rebuilding in the 18th and 19th century such as St.Bartholomew the Great and All Hallows London Wall. These restoration were needed because of dissolution and decay. During the 19th century declining population and church attendance in the city intersected with growing appreciation of the buildings . Because of that Bishop Tait enforced the Union of Benefices Act of 1860 which lead to the demolition of 16 city churches. Around that time St.Nicholas Cole Abbey was disturbed during the laying of the London Underground and St.Bride s Fleet Street was struck by lightening and needed some restoration. A much bigger impact had the damage that was caused by bombs during the second World War. St. Olave Hart Street for example was hit by four strikes and was restored in 1951 1954. Other Churches such as All Hallows London Wall and St.Bride s Fleet Street had some serious war damage and St.Nicholas Cole Abbey was burnt out in 1941 and reconstructed in 1961 1962. Destruction Of Rwanda Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as an entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following World War I. Rwandais located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3). They are lying in a pool of their own blood, for they have accommodated the neurotic behavior of pulling their own hair out. This innocent hare has gone through the melancholy torture that is animal testing. Most people deem that animal testing is a form of cruelty. Animal testing can cause major injury, psychological damage, and even death; how ethical is it, actually? The opposing side argues that there is not a safe alternative to animal testing. According to the California Biomedical Research Association, studying cells in a petri dish does not produce an opportunity to study different reactions that can occur in the circulatory, nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. (source) By using petri dishes, a result of higher relevancy emerges because they are actual humancells. There are also methods such as microdosing. Microdosing is the distribution of the chemicals, doses far too miniscule to be harmful, to living volunteers. This procedure allows scientists to study how the body reacts and stores the chemicals without any damage or pain done to the volunteer. Others argue that computer models are only reliable if there has already been information gathered from animal testing. Essay On Gelato Gelato has an interesting history and originally dates back to frozen treats and desserts of Sicily in Italy, Egypt, and even ancient Rome; in which it was produced from the ice and snow of mountaintops before being brought down and preserved below ground level to keep it cold. Gelato soon became popular among a large portion of the population of Italian cities, one in particular was Florence. Nevertheless, its popularity only began to increase between the 1920s and 1930s before the first gelatocart was developed in the city of Varese. 1. Persuasive Speech About Suicide So this is a topic that I have been wanting to write for a very long time because I think that it is something that everyone has been impacted in some way or another. I kept making excuses why not to talk about this, but today while I was at work the song In The End by Linkin Park came on. Now if you know me very well at all you will know that Linkin Parkis my favorite band of all time, and I think that most people know, but if you don t know their lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicidealmost a month ago. The man was fighting demons of sexual abuse from when he was a kid along with drug and alcohol abuse for years and it caught up to him. He was the father of six kids and had a wife he had a successful career and seemed like a happy man. Yet, unfortunately, he took his life. I know this is a very taboo topic and that a lot of people don t like talking about, especially inside the Mormon community. It is something that I believe we need to be able to talk about more. I really believe that those who suffer from depression as well as other things that can lead to suicide need to be able to feel comfortable about talking about how they feel without any judgement from those around them. This in turn I believe will help them realize how much they are loved by those around them and hopefully will not make a decision such as suicide. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Homosexuality is commonly defined as the sexual interest and romantic attraction in members of the same sex. In contrast, heterosexuality is sexual attraction to the opposite sex, while bisexuality is attraction to both sexes. Like heterosexuality and bisexuality, homosexuality is evident in sexual dreams and fantasies, sexual acts, romantic attraction, and falling in love. The terms homosexual and heterosexual were coined by the sexual law reformer K. M. Benkert, and used in an article he wrote for a German newspaper in 1869. They were then all forgotten until rediscovered by the Berlin sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld in 1905. Homosexuality is derived from the Greek homos, meaning same (heteros means other), and Latin sexus, meaning sex. Earlier life experiences can serve either as risk factors or as protective factors for the health and well being during this stage of development. According to the study Journey from Childhood to Midlife completed by Werner and Ruth Smith in 2001, by middle adulthood, most people have noted a balancing in their lives and improvement in overall quality of their lives. On the other hand, Daniel Levinson sees the life course more as a sequence of eras each with his own biopsychosocial character with major changes from one to the next. Levinson sees adulthood as fluctuating periods of relative stability and periods of transition. He viewed the developmental stage as balancing four opposing aspects of identity and to understand the life, and more importantly, the personality theory, developed by Carl Jung, it is important to note the time span in which he lived. Jung s insight shows the human need for a relationship. It may not have been an obvious comparison, but most of these poems had at least one. In the poems, My Papa s Waltz and For My Daughter, both describe a beloved family member. They both put in clear detail of the positive and negative things about said familymember. These poems both describe someone misunderstanding or mistreating another. It is amazing how each of these poems can describe or be told about a certain problem and how they all can relate in some type of way. The reason behind that is because everyone no matter who they are all goes through the same situations as the next person. Whether it is, gender, age, religion, race or even education, there is something that can connect one to another. In the poem, My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, the narrator is the small boy mentioned in the second line. He thoroughly describes every little thingabout what his father is doing; this shows the large amount of imagery in the poem. This connection is obviously between a boy and his father; hence the title of the poem. Speaking of the title of the poem, it is exactly what is named. A waltz is a song written in Вѕ time, this is normally a very intimate type of dance (Shmoop). There may be a danced being performed, but do not be fooled. The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment Essay The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment The Tuskegee Syphilis experiment (The official name was Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male) began in the 1930 s. It was an experiment on African Americans to study syphilis and how it affected the body and killed its victims done by Tuskegee Institute U.S. Public Health Service researchers. The initial purpose of the Syphilis study was to record the natural history of syphilis in Blacks (Tuskegee University, About the USPHS Syphilis Study, par. 2). It was unethical because the subjects were unaware of the consequences and denied the treatment for their disease. The Mississippi Appendectomy Study The Mississippi Appendectomy study started taking place in the 1920 s. The experiment consisted of excessive hysterectomies on many women mainly in the Deep South. Poor Black women were the main focus of the experiments as well as disabled women and women that the physicians thought were not worthy of reproducing. Young, less experienced doctors were told to perform the sterilization process so that they had a chance to practice the procedure (50). The experiment was unnecessary and served no true, ethical purpose. The doctors believed it was in order to perform the hysterectomies because the women seemed unfit to have children and to give the younger surgeons practice. In detail, while the women were having an appendectomy (removal of the appendix), the doctors would perform the hysterectomies which were unrelated to the problem with the patients appendix. Therefore, the hysterectomies were uncalled for since the women had no knowledge of the additional procedure and didn t give consent (University of Maryland, Mississippi Appendectomy , par. 1). These procedures resulted in the women deprived of their right to reproduce and no significant benefits to science. Not all leaders are famous people, or people in high positions of power. There are leaders all around us. They are just ones that possess leadership qualities that not all people have. This does not mean though that they are born leaders. This also doesn t mean that all leaders are good leaders. They can also harm society, like Hitler. A person with a vision and passion can achieve great things, both very valuable traits to have. If I can inject enthusiasm and energy into myself and others, many great things can be achieved. In the future when I am in a leadership position I want to be able to develop my followers by making sure that they possess the passion and energy needed to work towards our organization s common goal. I want to care about them and make sure that they succeed at what they want to accomplish. Working for a transformational leader should be a wonderful uplifting experience. Transformational leadership starts with the development of a vision. This should be a view of the future that will grab the attention, excite and convert potential followers. Once the vision has been developed, you will have to constantly sell the vision. This will probably take a lot of energy and commitment, because few people will automatically believe in your vision. A transformational leader should take every opportunity available to convince others to climb on their bandwagon. In order to create followers, the transformational leader has to be careful in creating trust, and their personal integrity is a critical part in what they are selling. Therefore, they are selling themselves as well as the vision. The common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the past few years we ve seen a significant spike in the rise of terrorist attacks in the United States and it allies and its causing a major social problem. Whether it be a bombing or just driving a van through a crowd of people, these attacks effect people in multiple ways. One of the main ways is that it causes people to be afraid to go outside and socialize which causes a disconnect between the population. Another way is that it cause the citizens to mistrust the government, because it is supposed to keeping them safe and a terror attack being successfully carried out means the government failed at its job. There are many ways this could be fixed, but the problem is that a lot of Americans aren t willing to do them because they involve giving up certain amounts of freedom. By this I mean allowing the government to look at digital data on people as well as conversations to attempt to stop attacks before the begin. Another way is to give the police and other feral law enforcement agencies more power to arrest or detain terrorist suspects. On a small organic farm in Nicaragua, Finca Esperanza Verde (FEV), a direct drive micro hydro system is being used to power a coffee de pulper (Raichle, Sinclair Ferrell, 2012). This paper will build upon existing data on the system and will explore options for directing the water after it has gone through the system to effectively suit the needs of the farm. The applications of the system could be prevalent throughout the coffee growing regions of Latin America where there are water resources and small scale coffee farms. Coffee is 8.1% or $438 Million of Nicaragua s exports, which makes it the second most exported commodity in the county (Nicaragua, n.d.). I of course got the play by play from her, but in hind sight, I was deprived of so many beautiful observations. Our text Theories of Development Concepts and Applications by William Crain outlines human development by many theorists. A few of those are John Bowlby, Mary D.S. Ainsworth, and Erik H. Erikson. I couldn t help but reminisce about the stages of my own children s growth while reading the work of Bowlby, Ainsworth and Erikson. I remember having my young children with me when ever it was possible, but what attachments to them might I have missed while I was busy working or did I miss any at all? Bowlby s work on attachment gives a compelling argument as to the importance of attachment in the first 6 months of a Childs life. Ainsworth s work is focused on the idea of a child using the parent as a base for further exploration of their surroundings. Erikson s work on the other hand considers the role of society and culture in development. In reading these works, the theories appear to be easily stitched together to give an all encompassing view of human development over an entire life time and how our attachment to our parents is critical to that development. • 49. An Interesting Software Design Technique 3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts, emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts, like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and using the same common, ubiquitous language. Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application (which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application at hand can probably be a better approach. Cause Of Judgement People of the 21st century have portrayed their high level of intellectualism by making tremendous achievements in the fields of technology and medicine, but at the same time they have showcased their foolishness by forming opinions of other individuals. Their ability to view other people from a moral perspective leads them to form judgements of other people. Matter of fact, judging has turned into a habit for all of humanity and has hurt people mentally and physically. Without thinking of the harmful effects judging can have on individuals, people form their opinions based on individuals clothes, qualities, and even facial feature. Primarily, the phony ethics and assumptions lead people to judge. In particular, one s bad upbringing, the insecurity and jealousy of human nature, and the blind acceptance of information are the three main causes for passing judgement. First, failing to preach the idea of individuality to younger generations leaves a negative impact on their upbringing, thus leading them to judge individuals ignorantly. Teachings passed down to children who support the ideas of arrogance and selfishness prevent them from understanding the uniqueness of other independent minded individuals, resulting in the children judging other people.
