Dehumanization In Beloved
Beloved by Toni Morrison is an abyss of slavery. This novel shares a devastating moment the
protagonist, Sethe, suffers because of her past. Although she is being criticized drastically, she tries
her very best for her present. She has left Sweet Home to 124 but is still terrified and brings back
memories. Both of these settings have their similarities, but yet are different because of the reason
why Sethe has moved, slavery and Beloved.
When Sethe was at Sweet Home, everything was alright for her. Once she escaped from there, she
started to realize how dehumanized they were treated. Paul D, a slave from Sweet Home, said True,
true. She s right, Sethe. It wasn t sweet, and it sure wasn t home. (16) Both Paul D and Sethe
personally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason why the three is missing is that Beloved was Sethe s third child but she killed her. Sethe
thought the best thing for Beloved was to kill her; 124 was spiteful. Full of a baby s venom. (1) A
mother always wants the best for their child. Sethe did not want Beloved to go through slavery that
she went through, It is very weird to believe that a mother is living in a house where she killed her
proper daughter. This setting is important because although it has a sad present, it will bring better
memories. Beloved is present, but how ironic because Sethe killed her. 124 was quiet. (281) Beloved
is a very mysterious character because we don t know if she is supernatural or real. Denver has no one
to talk to because of how everyone views her family, so that s why Denver legitimately values
beloved. We do not hear Beloved s spirit because she is present.
Sweet Home and 124 are similar because Sethe and Paul D are together. These places can be viewed
as suffering because of slavery and death, but it is now the present and not the past. Sethe is not letting
her past affect her, so that s why she is at 124. If she never accepts her past, she will never get through
the present. These setting are both very sorrowful. Sethe absolutely wishes she can live happily, but
there is always something that is stopping her. Maybe she can never live happy because God has
punished her for killing

Effects Of Binge Drinking On College Grounds
Introduction According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, binge drinking is
defined as the consumption of five or more drinks for males and four or more drinks for females
consecutively in the same day, within a two hour period. Problem drinking seems to be a phenomenon
highly present amongst the college age population. However, not a lot of focus has been given to the
negative impacts that come along with binge drinking on college grounds. Having encountered
multiple clients reporting problems with alcohol consumption while in college sparked an interest in
working with this population in order to have a broader understanding of what should be a major
concern. It is no secret that binge drinking is present amongst college aged students. However, data
collected by Kelly Weeder (2010), supports that this binge drinking is specifically present on college
grounds. More specifically, binge drinking is even more prevalent amongst college students across
campuses in the United States; being identified as a major public health concern (Johnston, O Malley,
Bachman, Schulenberg, 2013). To a greater extent, although binge drinking does not seem to
discriminate amongst genders, it seems to affect more college aged males than females as they
reported more reoccurring episodes (Kelly Weeder, 2010). Literature supports, that this major health
concern can be correlated with low various negative outcomes that include poor academic
performance, risky sexual

Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry
Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry
Introduction
This essay reflects on the lecture titled Creative Economy by Martin Bouette. I found this lecture
relevant to my final project. My topic is the changing trends in the apparel industry. How Corporate
Social Responsibility affects the supply chain, going local from global, vertical from horizontal. The
lecture is relevant in many aspects, for example the knowledge society s changes and ethical issues
and responsibility within the apparel industry. The first part of the essay briefly speaks about the
lecture Creative Economy and also introduces my final project. The second part explains in more
detail the difference between horizontal and vertical integration. It also overviews the ... Show more

The Environment: This part argues that who is responsible for the environmental damages, how much
concern the designer has for our environment.
Aging Generation: says that older generations are a strong market for quality design, because they
have time to enjoy all its benefits and they can afford it.
And finally Ethical issues, which is the most important from my point of view. This is the part were
my project could connect to Martin s lecture. It gives data about child labour in different countries in
different industries. It argues that our society should educate consumers better to know more about the
true cost of products they buy.
The lecture says that the commercial success depends on these four factors I explained before.
My Project
In my original project proposal I was intended to research trends in manufacturing such as going local
from global and going vertical from horizontal integration. However I realized since that such trends
are mostly triggered by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies responding to customer
demands.
I would like to narrow down my project to focus on the affects of CSR on the apparel industry s
supply chain. Therefor my research project aims to examine how CSR as a global trend affects
vertically and horizontally integrated manufacturing in the fashion/apparel industry.
A company won t integrate vertically its production if it against its business interest. There are some

1) Evaluate the design and the implementation of the performance bonus program at DPC. What
changes would you suggest, if any?
In this case, the FSE (field service engineers) is an important part of the whole corporation and also
the system. The system is established to influence the performance of the FSEs to a desirable way and
keep their customers satisfied. Therefore, the company designed a six areas method for the
performance bonus program. Performance area | Evaluation way | 1.Cross training | 10 40 Points |

And the SMS even could be linked to almost any of the automated systems available. This is amazing.
What s more, the primary goal is to make customers satisfied, however, the way to check if customers
are satisfied is not direct enough, so they should find out some direct measures. The company tried to
use its six area method to speculate customer satisfaction, especially based on the call back rate. This
way is kind of indirect, if the company wants to know their customer satisfaction, what about just ask
their customers? In the case, when the IMMULITE 2000 is going into work, the company was
sometimes able to solve a problem before a customer was even aware that it existed. This way is a
direct way: solve the problem before a customer aware, and then the customer would be happy about
that.
2) Instead of using a results control system could DPC use action and/or personnel/cultural controls?
If so, what would such a system look like?
If not, why not?
DPC could not use action control or personnel/cultural control instead of using a results control
system like the performance bonus system.
Action control is more specific than result control. It focuses on the process of the whole thing while
result control is focuses on the result. To use action control, it is difficult for managers to distinguish
good or bad behaviors, because the processes and jobs are so varied. Action control also may limit
employees creativity

A. Purposes of the studies 1. What were the purposes of the studies?
The purpose of the primary study was to determine whether student anxiety and depression increases
after college entry, the extent to which adverse life experiences contribute to any increases, and the
impact of adversity, anxiety and depression on exam performance (Andrews, amp; Wilding, 2004).
The purpose of the secondary study was to investigate the relationship between stress factors,
perceived stress and academic performance among students in a public institution of higher learning
(Rafidah, et al, 2009).

contribution of significant variables to the prediction of depressive and anxiety conditions mid course.
Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relative contribution of significant variables to
2nd year exam averages. In all the multivariate analyses, gender, age (over 21 or not) and ethnicity
(white or not) were entered as control variables (Andrews, amp; Wilding, 2004). In the secondary
study a structured, self administered questionnaire was developed as a mode of data collection. The

The Epic of Gilgamesh
The story about Gilgamesh is one of the earliest pieces of world literature dating back to the second
millennium B.C.E. This story has been evolved gradually over a long span of a millennium, and has
been enjoyed by many nations. The Epic of Gilgamesh teaches life lessons that apply to the past and
present while revolving around the question of what it means to be human, and to experience the
phenomenon of friendship, love, and death.
Notably, the thing about human life is that everyone desires friendship or to be simply not be alone. In
the story of the epic of Gilgamesh talks about how friendship changed his whole life. Gilgamesh used
to be a terrible ruler led by arrogance, and brutality of his people. He was overconsumed with power,
therefore doing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. It seemed that Gilgamesh grew bored of
life, and had a deep hole in his heart as such something was missing from his life. One day Gilgamesh
told his mother I want a friend for my own counselor, for my own Counselor do I want a friend
(Foster 106). He needed someone to confide in as well as talk too about his plans and future.
Gilgamesh had everything in his life from riches to power, but it seemed like the thing he craved more
than success was someone to take the journey beside him. In a

My Experience On A Boat Ride To Catalina Island
One of my greatest field trips ever was on a boat ride to Catalina Island. It consisted of a three day
overnight trip to the beautiful Island. My Dad and I woke up at 4:35 in the morning just to get to
school on time to load up the bus. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three different stores
to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but super excited! Once
we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone looked like they just got
drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular, boring day of school. I think I was
the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of course. Once the bus was completely
packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom, then hopped on the bus. As we drove down the
freeway, my classmates and I played fun games like: I Spy and truth or dare. When we arrived in Long
Beach, my friends and I decided to skip rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we
got reprimanded by the person who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the
exciting adventure ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we
would be taking. All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the
old movies. Thankfully, I became pleasantly surprised when I saw a modern motor boat. Suddenly, the
engine turned on, and I was afraid for our lives. The woman driving sped the whole way there. It was
a long and bumpy ride. After safely making it to Catalina Island, I wanted to hurry and throw on my
swim trunks so that I could jump in the clear beautiful water. The water was so clear, that I could see
fish brushing against my legs. As we stepped off of the boat and followed our camp leader, we sat

Pursuing A Life At College
At the average age of eighteen, every student must decide what their future will entail. Some students
will choose to skip college to dive into ministry, military training, or work. Many students, however,
do decide to pursue a life at college. In the United States alone, there are approximately 5,300
different colleges/universities from which a student can choose. This substantial number of colleges
often leaves a student overwhelmed, confused, and stressed over finding their perfect college. As I
have researched, I have narrowed my perfect college choices down to two very different options,
Baylor University and Lee University. Baylor University was founded in 1844 by Reverend William

564 of these students are international (3%). This is significantly larger than Lee University who has
4,575 with 251 international students (5%). Not only is there a drastic size difference, but also a
drastic cost difference. Baylor charges a total of $56,776 a year. This large total can be divided up into
six categories: tuition $36,360, various fees $4,038, room and board $11,140, books and supplies
$1,276, transportation $1,174, and personal expenses $2,788. Lee is 48% cheaper coming in at a total
of $27,500. This cost can be divided into four categories: tuition $14,280, room and board $7,520,
books and supplies $1,200, and personal expenses $4,500. Accompanying the 16,787 students at
Baylor are 119 majors and 77 minors. Lee, on the other hand, has 105 majors and 52 minors. Although
both universities have similar options, Baylor has more of the basic college majors and minors. Lee,
however, has more specialized courses. For example, Lee offers four different options for Discipleship
Ministry major. Both Baylor and Lee are Christian universities who practice pursuing after Christ in
their college activities. Lee has chapel twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) with students being
required to attend 70% of the chapels per a semester. Most of Lee s chapels are simply worship led by
both students and well known artists, but they do often have speakers as well. Baylor has chapel twice

An Ethical Dilemma Of Tube Feeding
An Ethical Dilemma of Tube Feeding There are times that self determination has opposition with the
values and beliefs of health care providers. The five step ethical decision making model is in place for
patients that are unable to make their own health care decisions due to incompetency; paternalism is
not the method used anymore. In relation to health care, paternalism manifests itself in the making of
decisions on behalf of patients without their full consent or knowledge. (Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2008).
Value systems, which includes a patients and family morals, play a factor in ethical decision making.

The Costing Method Is An Accounting Process
A1. Costing Method Costing Method is an accounting process that assesses itemized input costs of
production and fixed costs to determine overall costs of production. (Kucera, n.d.) Competition Bikes
is performing this analysis so management can determine the optimum sales units to breakeven from
its San Diego plant based on the current sales mix of 9 Titanium bicycles for every 5 CarbonLite
bicycles produced. Traditional costing is an easily implemented costing method that aligns with
generally accepted accounting principles, GAAP. Traditional costing is the distribution of
manufacturing overhead costs across the number of products produced based or another volume based
metric. Traditional costing is very simplistic in the fact that it doesn t allocate out any
nonmanufacturing costs. Traditional costing allocates costs to generic buckets such as direct material,
direct labor and other overhead. Activity based costing (ABC) was developed as a costing method to
overcome the weaknesses of traditional costing. ABC allocates costs to every activity, or
manufacturing task, associated in the production of an item. ABC is more accurate than traditional
costing. Competition Bikes grouped the following as tasks associated with the manufacturing of
bicycles; Factory Setups, Quality Control, Engineering Service, Product Movements, Utilities, and
Depreciation. (Johnson, n.d.) In Competition Bikes data analysis of traditional verses activity based
costing, the differences in costs is

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Personal Statement
Eighteen years it took me to become a pediatric emergency medicine specialist. As my journey in
academics started, I faced the challenge and responsibility of being a single parent. Seeking
opportunities to learn about economics and finance, I did what came naturally to me, which was study.
Eighteen months of doing the unthinkable : working full time, studying full time, and raising a six
year old, was the most exhausting and yet the most inspiring time of my life. Travelling to Asia to
write a thesis comparing the Japanese and American health insurance industry, added a global flavor
to my knowledge of medicine.
Fueled by an interest in research, I received a scholarship for Ph.D. studies after medical school. Life
events interrupted this journey, making it necessary to move from cities, and even countries. I made an
unthinkable move to Australia, right after being promoted at the university. Each change has required
patience and persistence, forcing me to look beyond hurdles and seek opportunities for growth. As a
foreign medical graduate, in two countries, I have had to prove my skill as a physician and my
specialist fellowships in both the U.S. and Australia substantiates this. Through every stage of my
training and academic career, I have sought out opportunities to further my understanding of the
science behind the practice of medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Explain How The Military Techniques Used To Keep The Roman...
The Roman Emperors used many different strategies as ways to keep the empire in control and safe.
To prevent riots within the empire and attacks from outside of it, they utilized their army and roads,
natural and manmade borders, strict Roman laws and even their circuses and bread as ways to keep
the Roman Empire strong. It was these 4 points that kept the empire thriving for as long as it did.
The Roman Army was an extremely skilled and powerful force that almost never was defeated. Their
incredibly good fighting techniques helped with the control and safety of the empire. To keep order in
the empire they had a civil guard maintaining peace. They dealt with less threatening affairs while the
Roman legions and auxilia suppressed higher level rioting and rebellion. The Romans were highly
skilled when it came to battles, and even though their weapons were not significantly better than their
enemies they were highly disciplined. The army was organised in a very simple way, they would be
split into groups in equal amounts with a leader or commander. Roads that the Romans designed were
essential to keep the empire safe. Over the course of 700 years, they built more than 55,000 miles of
highways throughout Europe. They built these roads to link the conquered empires and establish them
as colonies. Another reason roads were built was because it reduced marching fatigue and travel time

2.1. Three organisational concepts applying to one character: Three organisational concepts that apply
to the character Jessica Pearson are Range of control, Delegation and Authority. Jessica is the head of
the law firm suits. Range of Control: This refers to how many workers work under the supervision of
the specific manager. Generally it is possible for someone s span of control to be able to increase
however Pearson is at the top of the particular firm. Her range of control is evident right from the
beginning of the episode; we are able to see throughout the episode that high level managers (Spectre

the ability of a manager to be able to transfer work to other employees that are lower than them or
report to them. This is also seen as handing over authority to a person (or group of people) regarding a
particular job. In many cases, however, this job is not done efficiently as many managers are not
trained in the line of delegation, or for various other reasons delegations is done incorrectly, for
instance there is a lack of belief that the employees will do the job correctly, or the need for a manager

The Technological Accessibility And Socioeconomic Mobility...
I remember travelling to the resort and marvelling at the engineering feat of the Cayo Santa Maria
(CSM) causeway in Cuba. The design of the causeway functioned as a method of connecting small
parchments of man made land to the larger archipelagos. Despite the devastation of Hurricane Katrina
in 05, the causeway remained proportionately intact. During my visit in 11, however, the causeway
was noted for its damaged bridges still in need of further repair1. The causeway itself (for the most
part) is unlit. Due to the (prior) partisan embargo against Cuba, the CSM is a main artery for tourist
flow with it being the major route to the resort(s). The main archipelago supports twelve hotels the
first built in 01 is quite incredible, considering the limitations placed on the technological accessibility
and socioeconomic mobility of Cuban workers. While traversing on the CSM causeway, I distinctly
thought of the abundance of people travelling Cuba s main highway earlier. I had asked the guide,
(foolishly,) Where are they going? To work . It was considered a privilege, I learned, to be able to
work on the archipelagos at least you wouldn t have to walk to work2. A walk that took the workers
half of their day. The CSM causeway is very narrow, a two lane 48 km stretch; I was curious to how
the resort workers (unable to walk the causeway) made it to work. Transportation being expensive,

The definition of air pollution is the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odor in harmful amounts. That
is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could
cause damage to plants and materials. Primary air pollutant includes carbon monoxide from car
exhausts and sulfur dioxide from the combustion of coal. Further pollution can arise if pollutants in
the atmosphere undergo chemical reactions. (http://www.epa.vic.gov.au/air/aq4kids/pollution.asp)
Some forms of air pollution create global problems, such as upper atmosphere ozone depletion and
global warming. These problems are very complex, and require international cooperative efforts to
find solutions. What is more complex is that any pollutants such as ozone and tiny particles of toxins
are linked with heart

Teething Pain
Teething is the process by which an infant s teeth sequentially appear by breaking through the gums.
Even through teething is a normal part of infant development, surprisingly little is known about the
causes and management of teething signs and symptoms.Teething pain is the commonest symptom
associated with the eruption of the primary dentition. The eruption of primary teeth usually begins
around 4 8 months of age with the eruption of lower incisors and is complete at around 30 36 months
of age when second primary molars erupt.
Teething pain sometimes referred to as dentitio difficilis is the commonest symptom associated with
the eruption of primary dentition. Adults assume an infant is experiencing pain because they appear
distressed, or because they believe the incisal edges of teeh cut through the alveolar bone and gingival
during eruption. Pain may result from elevation of inflammatory mediators in the crevicular fluid and
in tissue surrounding the erupting teeth, which stimulate nociceptive receptors.Local pain may be
further exacerbated by rubbing or scratching the gingival tissues, by biting in to hard objects or by
presence of pathology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local teething symptoms are : Gingival swelling, irritation, redness of gums, thumb sucking and gum
rubbing. The systemic disturbances that are associated with teething include : Loss of apetite, crying,
increased salivation, drooling, diarrhoea, boils general irritability and fever, runny nose, conjunctivitis,
some day time restlessness.Morever, increased biting, wakefulness, ear rubbing and facial rashes have
also been reported to be associated with teething.Generally the eruption of primary teeth begins when
other changes in the infant s immune system, growth and development are also occurring, that is
around 6 months of age. This predisposes an infant to a variety of infections like respiratory tract
infections,UTI, middle ear infections.

How The Stereotypes Associated With My Identity Affect Me
I am an African American male who loves to dance, play sports, and rap. I fit into a multitude of
stereotypes of an African American male except I have never committed a crime or ever joined a gang.
Stereotypes can be true and not necessarily a bad thing; I think it is great I am good at basketball and
dancing. However, stereotypes can also be very harmful in our conception of other people. One might
see me walking down the street at night and assume I am a thug instead of an Honors student at
Loyola Marymount University. I do not want to delve into the topic of how the stereotypes associated
with my identity affect me; rather, I would like to analyze the negative effect of the stereotype of the

The cultural stereotypes around gender are perceived as inevitable truths rather than stereotypes to be
challenged [that] undermine calls for equality between men and women (Donovan 17). This ignorance
causes people to think they only need to look at the surface level when judging a person s value as it
relates to gender. What happens when someone s value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody
and the clothes they wear? The seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that.
The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely wealthy, adorned with
jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle.
The market plays into feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items predominantly to women, and
women who can afford them invariably become luxury items themselves (Chocano 110). Almost all
the high end luxury brands like Prada and Tiffany and Co. are regarded as women s brands that also
offer a small selection of men s items. The targeting of woman by these brands cause the woman to
objectified as only a means to sell their product. The woman wearing all of the clothing becomes a
luxury item herself due to how rare it is for her to gain the financial freedom buy the clothes and

Mass Media And Its Effects On Children
Mass media is part of the average persons everyday life, from morning to night; modern society
absorbs and consumes it constantly. Adults are aware of it and see the media, as advertisements on
television, the latest blockbuster at the theaters or the trendy new clothing. Children are not free from
it either; they to are exposed to the medias imagery and ideals maybe more than adults are. Parents
may not pay close attention to the media their children are exposed to; adults may think they are just
harmless children s toys or games. From the time they wake up and they pour themselves a bowl of

Parents might think that the idea of their 5 year old girl dieting as too farfetched, but that same thin
ideal is already being pushed on them. In fact, children who watch hours of television a day are
exposed to dieting, and may see it as a part of growing up. Heavier viewing children may glamorize
dieting and view it as a way of playing grown up before they begin to diet with the intention of
meeting an internalized body ideal. (Harrison et al) Children are very receptive to these images, they
may see dieting as just a grown up thing now, but later on may see it as a necessary part of growing
up. If children can catch on to things like that, then they can certainty catch on to things like the thin
ideal. An experiment was done where preschool aged girls were given a choice between playing with
three different game pieces, a fat one, a normal one, and a thin game piece; this was what the
researchers discovered. Preschool girls between the ages of 3 and 5 attribute more negative adjectives
to fat targets and more positive adjectives to thin targets. In addition, preschool girls were less likely
to select a fat target as their playmate or best friend and more likely to select a thin target as

Gastrointestinal Tract Research Paper
Abstract After entering the gastrointestinal tract on the way to their physiological site of infection,
enteric bacteria encounter a remarkable diversity in environmental conditions. There are gross
differences in the physico chemical parameters in different sections of the Gastrointestinal tract (GI)
tract e.g. between the stomach, small intestine and large intestine. Furthermore, even within a certain
anatomical site, there are subtle differences in the microenvironment e.g. between the lumen, mucous
layer and epithelial surface. Enteric pathogens must not only survive passage through the rapidly
changing environments encountered at different niches of the GI tract but must also appropriately

Several studies have revealed pathogen specific responses to bile that alter the expression of virulence
factors. When V. cholerae was grown in the presence of bile, expression of the essential virulence
genes ctxAB and tcpA was drastically repressed [30]. Since bile is a heterogeneous mixture, crude bile
was fractionated, and the components that mediate virulence gene repression were identified. It was
shown that unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) present in bile, arachidonic, linoleic, and oleic acids were
responsible for repression of ctxAB and tcpA genes [31]. However, expression of toxT encoding the
direct transcriptional activator of ctxAB and tcpA was not affected and ToxT protein levels were
similar between V. cholerae grown in the presence or absence of bile or UFAs [31]. Subsequently, the
crystal structure of ToxT revealed that unsaturated fatty acids can bind to ToxT and keeps ToxT in a
closed conformation that is not capable of binding DNA [32]. Hence ToxT cannot activate expression
of ctxAB and tcpA in the presence of bile or UFAs and the genes continue to be repressed by H NS
[33]. Bile also causes drastic repression of virulence genes in salmonellae. Salmonellae grown in the
presence of bile demonstrated a marked

The Importance Of Being A Working Mother
We live in a world where we are criticized for practically everything, from what we wear, how we act,
to the decisions we make. Being a parent comes with many criticisms, such as how you raise your
child, what you feed your child, or how much attention is given to the child. More controversy lies on
working mothers mainly due to the growing concerns for the child s well being. It is important to see
the negative aspects of being a working mother as well as the positive outcomes.
First and foremost the term mother must be addressed. In this _____ the term mother will refer to
______. In a study done, the mothers working schedule was evaluated in order to see if it was
correlated with the child s behavior. This study was mainly focused on low income mothers working a
non traditional schedule, the nightshift or graveyard shift. The results were what would be expected,
that children experience a higher aggression behavior if their mothers took a nightshift job than if the
mother did not work. (QUOTE) This is partly due to the fact that although mothers are physically
present when their children arrive home, they may not be fully mentally there. That is, mothers who
work at night may be exhausted in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Instead of paying attention to
the child, their minds might be wondering somewhere else. This then raises the question of the quality
of time spent with the child. Taking a look at the different working schedules of working mothers we
see that

Characteristics of a Hero Essay
Characteristics of a Hero A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than
oneself (Campbell 1). When we think of heroes most of us think of movie stars or professional
athletes, but it s not always about your popularity or talent it can also be about how you help society.
What I think make a great hero is someone who is able to overcome his or her obstacles in life, is
highly motivated, and has plenty of bravery. Overcoming obstacles may be one of the hardest parts of
being a hero. I think it s the hardest because a lot of people are blocked from doing something and just
quit. A great example of this trait is Jackie Robinson. He was discriminated against because he was
African American. Even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be a successful hero you must be a highly motivated person. Without motivation you would
not be very successful because you would have no ambition to try and make a difference in the world.
I think Rodney Dangerfield is a great example of this because he started he career at just 15 and he
died while he was in the middle of a movie. Also when his wife tried to make him quit he just blew
their many years of happiness and divorced her. In one of his quotes he stated, At twenty a man is full
of fight and hope. He wants to reform the world. When he s seventy he still wants to reform the world
(Dangerfield 3). Bravery is a great trait for a hero to posses. I think bravery is a key quality because
you don t always know what lies ahead of you and you have to be brave to continue. A good example
of this is Charles Lindburgh. He was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I believe that
took a great amount of bravery because no one had ever made it across, so he didn t know what lie
ahead of him. One of his many good quotes he said, The most effective way to do it, is to just do it ,
(Lindburgh 1). So as you may see overcoming obstacles, being motivated and being outstandingly
brave is key to becoming a great hero.Like overcoming obstacles was very hard for

“No One Knowingly Does Evil” by Socrates. Essay
The argument which I am focusing on is titled No One Knowingly Does Evil and is written by
Socrates. This argument concludes that those who do evil things do them involuntarily. That is, people
do not necessarily want to do evil things, but do them against their will. A very important point is
presented by Socrates in that evil deeds are not done willingly. It is thought by many that some people
are simply evil natured and commit evil deeds because they want to. However, Socrates is arguing that
this is not true. By doing this, he is going against common thought and presenting a very debatable
conclusion. I will evaluate the argument so as to prove it is a legitimate possibility for the conclusion
to be true. It will be shown why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the key to this statement being false is the word all. Sometimes, people want to cause harm to
someone else in order to get back at them or to serve justice. If they think they are justified, that
person would be more willing to commit an evil act. The second premise, in my opinion, is true. I do
not think that a person, without outside influence, would simply do something which they do not want
to. If it is not something a person wants to do, chances are it won t be done. Therefore, I think this
premise is true. When evaluating the entire argument as a whole, I determined it to be valid. It is
logical to move from premise one to premise two and develop the provided conclusion. Even though I
believe premise one to be false, the argument is still valid. This is because, if it were true, it would
make sense to draw that conclusion from those two statements. The conclusion does not present any
new information not given in the premises either. The argument automatically becomes unsound
because premise one is false. It is impossible for the argument to be sound by definition.
I believe one objection would be that in certain circumstances there are dire needs. That is, someone
would do an evil deed because it was absolutely necessary. For example, if a family had been
kidnapped, there would be everything done in order to bring them home safely, even if some of it
involved a form of evil. This

Workplace, Mediation, Conciliation And Arbitration
INTRODUCTION:
Case 2 is about a casual worker who has cerebral palsy (disability) and he was dismissed when he was
verbally abusive to a manager who was criticising his quality of work. As a Union representative, this
report outlines and addresses the role of union, the rights of the employees in this case, and the dispute
resolution process, which will include negotiation, mediation, conciliation and arbitration.
In this case, the rights of the casual worker were breached by his manager in the workplace and those
rights were Anti Discrimination and Unfair Dismissal which are considered as legal workplace rights
of employees. This report also addresses the ten minimum National Employment Standards which are
rights that are entitled to employees. This report also lists the rights of a Casual worker as the
employee is a Casual worker.
This report also addresses the dispute resolution process and different steps to solve a the dispute
between two parties. Those steps are known as Negotiation, Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration.
Most of these steps require a third party who helps in offering advice or examining the dispute within
the workplace or making an agreement for two parties to agree on. There are some disadvantages in
the process of these steps and they can end up in a failure to resolve the dispute and if that happens,
then the two parties move onto the next step.

##timum Imperatures Affect The Activity Of Amylase
Abstract:
This experiment s objective was to determine the optimal temperature for amylase from two different
sources and to analyze how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase. The
chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be
analyzed.
Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test
tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different
temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded
immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the
temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms.
Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor
the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down.
After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus
oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that
temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85°
Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution.
Introduction:
This experiment was designed to show how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme
amylase and to

Abstract Lysozyme is an enzyme found in both tears and saliva. Each time we blink our eyes, our
eyelids wash tears over the surface of our eyes. In addition, our mouth is continually producing saliva.
A spectrophotometer set to 450nm was used to measure the effect of lysozyme on bacteria. The
absorbance or optical density was measured for each sample at specific times with a total measuring
time of twenty minutes. In this experiment, it was shown that lysozyme inhibits microbial growth in

O Rourke comments that this is one of the primary challenges of the remake of King Kong stating that
the film must offer up a more plausible sexual politics an update to Cooper s archetypal damsel in
distress menaced by a powerful, chest beating simian. (O Rourke, 2005) The initial way in which this
is done is by modernizing the gender role of the Ann Darrow character. While Fay Wray s portrayal
may have been the archetypal damsel in distress in early 20th century cinema, Watts Darrow is more
faithful to the image the post World War II, post Women s Liberation woman. Edelstein applauds this
change, stating that the filmmakers astutely [...] de bimboify Ann Darrow, who s now a vaudeville

WWII and the Road to Midway Essay
World War Two came to America on December 7th, 1941. The focus on America s involvement in the
war generally focuses on the European front. What must be remembered is the time and sacrifices
made in the Pacific theatre. America s entry into the war on the Pacific was not an immediate success.
It took American forces until the summer of 1942 at the Battle of Midway to become properly
prepared for the war. The American military learned much from their losses both through the strengths
of the Japanese forces and America s own faults. After these losses were realized, changes were made
within the military. These improvements allowed the American forces to turn the war back and begin
to have successes in the Pacific. Pearl Harbour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another aspect of the Japanese success was powerful and effective tactics. Tactics include the training
of the Japanese soldiers and their objectives in battle. Japanese soldiers were trained to die honourable
to fight to the death and never be taken prisoner3. Training the soldiers to fight this way was not only
traditionally Japanese, but it inspired them to continue fighting beyond what would be seen as a
reasonable time. This sincere dedication to defending their people and Emperor (the cause of this
training) allowed the Japanese soldiers to be effective killers even when faced with undeniable
defeat4. Beyond their training, the Japanese had other advantages in their battle objectives. The use of
radar was essential to the Americans, and so the Japanese were often ordered to target the radar
stations on islands before beginning full assaults5. Targeting the radar stations prevented the
Americans from properly estimating the Japanese forces or from knowing where they were headed.
The final tactical advantage the Japanese had was that their air force consisted of small experienced
squads especially for important missions6. Having been involved in a number of minor wars in east
Asia in the 1930s, Japanese forces were far more experienced; this lead to a much greater
effectiveness than the inexperienced Americans. Technologically, Japan was also ahead of America at
the outset of the war. This, partially, is due to experience and having been

Does the Final Chapter of Bronte s Jane Eyre Fit with the...
The final chapter s of Bronte s Jane Eyre have been a subject of discussion since it s first publication.
Many say the the ending does not fit and other argue that it does. There is a lot of evidence pointing to
the latter. The conclusion reveals the fate of Mr. Rochester and Jane, Adele, and of St. John. All of the
endings, a mixture of both happy and tragic, to fit with the entire story and can explained because of
the Victorian era. This essay will argue that the conclusion of this novel, more specifically that Jane
does go back to Mr. Rochester, is extremely fitting to both the plot and the essence of the novel. Many

Jane still has her independence even though she goes back to him. Not only does the relationship even
out, the biggest way Jane keeps her independence and her character traits is that she chooses to go
back to Rochester. She sets aside her brain and uses her heart fully in making the decision. It was my
time to assume ascendency. My powers were in play and in force, (301). She went back to Rochester
and married him because she wanted to. She did not need to marry Rochester for his money or his
social status, she married him because she wanted to. One of the biggest themes of Jane Eyre is the
ideal woman and the struggle between choosing to be passionate or suppressing it. At the very end, it
is most fitting for the character to develop in such a way that she chooses to be passionate. During the
time of the novel as well, women were meant to suppress their wants and desires but the novel is very
ahead of it s time. It s showing that it is perfectly alright to marry for love and marriage won t make
you lose your independence. The happy ending for Mr. Rochester and Jane are not the only fitting
thing about the ending. Adèle s fate is also very fitting for the plot and the English Victorian era. There
was always a parallel between little Adèle and Jane when she was younger. Both were orphans, and
both were eventually sent away to a terribly run school. It would only make sense, that Jane, having

breathless and holding him or her spellbound. She gives credibility to her characters, allowing them to
assert by offering them the opportunity to speak in some trivial way, the least popular and stripped
them of all artifice. She demonstrates that slavery denies not only the individuality, but also the
identity of the one who suffers it.
In psychology, identity is the awareness that an individual has of oneself and by the recognition of
others, of what that individual is as well as of his or her ego. It allows the individual to perceive what
is unique about him or her, that is to say, his or her individuality. The characters are the heir of several
generations of slaves. They just gained their freedom while their ancestors were the property of
someone else: the slave masters. Sethe was nineteen years old when she escapes from Bon Abri and
Paul D just a few years older. What were therefore the objects of self identification while families

Ban On Immigration Research Paper
A Modest Proposal to Trump Concerning the Ban on Immigration The most recent news coming from
Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just signed into effect. This places a ban on
immigration for anyone that is a citizen or naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and
Yemen. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when
truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. Although
Trump s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by addressing it as a,
temporary pause , citizens of these seven countries have had their lives in America come to a
screeching halt (Kennedy, Merit. NPR.org). The United States was built on the hard work and
desperation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a present disdain for the United States in those countries however this is an even larger reason
why this ban is simply idiotic. This will increase tensions and push these countries to develop
substantial contempt for the American people. Just because someone said they did not like the way
you built your sandcastle does not mean you have to go and destroy theirs just to prove that yours is
better. Educate them. Show them that this way is beneficial. Or ignore them and prove them wrong
through continued success and kindness.
I nominate that we lift the ban and instead make contact with the citizens of those countries to help
ease tensions and create an atmosphere of tolerance. I have been told that I am very good with crafts
so I propose that we make goodie bags. Like really good ones. They will be filled with objects and
miscellaneous gifts that are proven to put people in good moods. To further the value of these gift I
have consulted an expert in chocolate and sweets, my mother Jan. She recites, through her decades of
experience and experimental endeavors, that

Unisex And The Utilitarian Ethical Dilemma Essay
Tanisha Stidwell PHI 240 0001FA Mr. Beltran, Julian Nov. 6, 2016
Unisex and the Utilitarian
In today s society exists the ethical dilemma referred to as unisex which can be actively described as
the direct efforts to blur the line separating male from female. According to most, this is done to
further the idea of equality between men and women. But to others it is a moral concern that
ultimately could be detrimental to the members of the affected society. Avoiding a consequence such
as this would thusly mean promoting the ideas encapsulated within the moral frame of Utilitarianism.
This essay will showcase the problem with unisex and its relationship to the utilitarian. It, however, is
necessary, first, to elaborate on the topic of unisex to better define and emphasize its problematic
features. Unisex is defined as: (Adjective) of, designed, or suitable for both sexes; not distinguishing
between male and female; undifferentiated as to sex. Or (Noun) The state or quality of being unisex,
also referred to as Gender Blindness . This term unisex is used in opposition to the act of Gender
Specification, which is the separating of labels or items boy or girl, for Women or for Men. Though
the term unisex was popularized in the early 1960 s, the demand for things to be categorized as such,
grew exponentially in the early 2000 s and peeks in 2016. This is due to the growing influx of people
verbalizing and arguing their disapproval over gender specification, parents especially.

Dbq-Greek Ottoman Empire
The greeks, between the eighteenth century and early nineteenth century, fought for independence
from the Ottoman impire. In 1821, when the Greeks revolted against Ottoman turk rule, the Concert of
Europe was hardly invoked at all. The cries for freedom from that home of ancient democracy excited
liberals throughout Europe, and early demonstration of the power of nationalist movements that would
be repeated throughout the century. By 1827, British and French fleets intervened to support the Greek
s outburst for freedom, with help from many of Europe s countries, greece finally gained
independence in 1829. During their struggle for independence, there was a variety of views coming
from people throughout Europe. Many European countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

O Greeks, learn forever that the weapons of justice are unconquerable, and that Ottomans will flee
from the armed Greeks..the Greeks are neither savage nor of worthless spirit, as are their
enemies...The hour has approached, O Greeks, for the liberation of our motherland! (doc 6) This
pamphlet was published in Italy, since italy was not imperialistic, they had nothing against the
ottoman Empire, although they were very nationalsitic. For that reason, the Italian people think it is
fair and right for the greeks to gain freedom. They believe that no country should have to be ruled by
anyone but themselves, as a result, they support the Greeks in every way gaining the right of freedom.
Percy Bysshe Shelley, and English poet, wrote is a preface to his poem Hellas (Greece), in 1821,
Greece; and the wise and generous policy of England would consist in establishing the independence
of Greece, and it maintaining it against both Russia and the Turks (doc 7) This statement is incredibly
biased. England, during this time, was in a competition against both Russia and the Turks. They were
all (especially England) imperialistic countries, up against each other to conquer the majority of
Europe. That would make this statement biased as the person writing it is English, they want to Greece
to gain independence for the pure selfish reason so their own country can be in higher power
compared to the Ottoman Empire. Edward Blaquiere, an English

When the clock hits 12 on December 31, it marks the beginning of the New Year. It is the time when
resolutions are made and people are charged with new spirits. It fills the atmosphere with optimism
and buoyancy. New Year is celebrated in every part of the world as most countries follow the

which add to the variety of celebrations. What remains constant during this time though is the ringing
of church bells, honking of horns, blowing of whistles, and shrieking of sirens. Tasting exquisite wine
and food and indulging in dance and enjoying the fireworks have become a common part of the New

Difference Between NRF And NIMS
The various local, state, and federal emergency management systems of the United States suffered a
crude awakening in the decade of the 2000s. Systems expected to hold up were put to the test and
failed to prepare for disaster, mitigate the damage, and, in some instances, actually hampered
responses in life or death situations. Worse, all failings were highlighted in an age of global
communication and mass media, on display first whether a man made incident like September 11th
attacks or natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. The decade found the complacent government
failing to maintain modern emergency management practices, stimulating began a series of doctrinal
upgrades and training improvements. Yet, no matter the bureaucracy, writings, or money thrown at a
problem, the first responder to the incident has and will continue to influence the outcome. While the

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would become the central point of contact
within the national government in responding to incidents. Since formation in 1979, FEMA s core
missions were to enhance the government s ability to survive a foreign attack, and to assist state and
local authorities in disaster response (Carafano, 2005). And while the two core missions seem
heterogenous in scope at times from an outside perspective, the biggest difference between the two
tasks is duration. A man made disaster may be over in a matter of minutes as compared to a hurricane
lasting several days, but in both instances the road to recovery is long. In order to streamline response
and recovery in either scenario, FEMA was reorganized with new directives to support comprehensive
emergency management practices (CRS, 2006). Today, FEMA provides the standard approach and
guidance that many local communities may not have due to funding, training, and

Shuttlecock Smash Shot Analysis
achieve the smash shot as he played that shot particularly well and used it for gaining the most amount
of points as his opponent wasn t able to return most of Harry s smash shots. The way he took the shot
has great technique because he had to do certain body positions to get him ready for the shot. Firstly
he needs to figure out where the shuttlecock is going; he needs the shuttlecock to be going up in the
air but being loopy as well which shows that he has to concentrate and be aware of what type of shot
was played back to him. Next when he has figured out the shot that has been played by his opponent
he would adapt his forehand grip then turning his body to stand sideways towards the net with his non
racket arm facing the net which means he would start to shift his weight onto his back foot where he
can generate the power from then he would start to bend his elbow while preparing for the shot getting
the wrist action ready where then he would use his non racket hand to go up and look at the
shuttlecock to improve his timing of the shot and also to create him to be balanced then he would try
make contact with the shuttlecock as high as possible but being in front of the body where he would
follow through using a strong action and then start to straighten his elbow when he is in contact with

What Is The Theme Of I Will Plant You A Lilac Tree
Rhetorical Situation: Memoirs tend to delve into all aspects of the writer s life surrounding a historic
event. Laura Hillman holds this true in her memoir: I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree. She writes about all
aspects of her experience as a survivor of Schindler s list. As Hillman pours her life onto the pages for
the audience, she conveys herself as an emotional and vivid author as she recounts the tragedies of the
holocaust. Effectively, the context, audience, author, and subject of her memoir stand out as much as
her compassion does throughout her history. As the only book Hillman wrote, she spent her life
compiling her memories and other documents in order to present her experience in the Holocaust. She
published the book when she did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title of Laura Hillman s memoir, I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree, plays a significant role in her love
life. As the promise the man she met in the concentration camp, she holds onto that little promise to
help her survive the horrors she endured. From her childhood, Hillam grew up with the lilac tree
blooming around her mother s birthday. After her father s death, her family moves into their
grandmother s house for fear of deportation. She sits with her mother and brothers And I wanted to see
the lilac tree, imagining it full of blossoms. I had always liked the fragrance of lilacs...There was no
lilac tree, and Papa was not here to sing his songs of love (36). She associates the lilac tree with the
happiness of her old life. She misses her father and wants desperately to get back to the time where
they were all together and life was normal. Over time, she falls deeper into her depression and longing
for a time that no longer exists. Yet, she finds a man who treats her like gold and brings her all the
food and clothes that he can smuggle to her. When Dick asks her what she misses most about home,
she responds with the lilac tree and all the memories associated with it. In turn, he vows One day,
when this is over, I ll plant you a lilac bush. Perhaps it will grow old and become a tree, like the one
you remember (144 145). This vow gives her the hope that she needs in order to keep going on her
darkest days

American Identity In The 18th Century
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries Americans developed a unique system of government with
revolutionary ideals never seen anywhere else before. Americans adopted representative governments
with democratic principles that allowed each person to have a voice in the decisions about their
country. This atmosphere of new ideas and new political rights fostered a growing sense of a unique
American identity not found anywhere else. By the eve of the American Revolution, colonists had
embraced a new identity completely different from their English roots that helped fuel their resistance
against Britain; however, plagued by petty disagreements and discouraged by the large Loyalist
population, the Americans were never able to effectively unite against the British.
During the early 18th century, the British government adopted a policy of salutary neglect toward the
colonies, which gave Americans freedom to develop their own political systems as long as they
followed the ideas of Mercantilism. When the first colonies were chartered in the 17th century, the
majority adopted some sort of political institution that gave voting rights to each and every man. In the
North, most citizens were able to participate in the local Town Meetings and voice their opinions. In
addition, nearly every colony had a representative assembly with elected officials. These new political
institutions that the Americans had built from the ground up, and learned to cherish caused Americans

  • 2. Dehumanization In Beloved Beloved by Toni Morrison is an abyss of slavery. This novel shares a devastating moment the protagonist, Sethe, suffers because of her past. Although she is being criticized drastically, she tries her very best for her present. She has left Sweet Home to 124 but is still terrified and brings back memories. Both of these settings have their similarities, but yet are different because of the reason why Sethe has moved, slavery and Beloved. When Sethe was at Sweet Home, everything was alright for her. Once she escaped from there, she started to realize how dehumanized they were treated. Paul D, a slave from Sweet Home, said True, true. She s right, Sethe. It wasn t sweet, and it sure wasn t home. (16) Both Paul D and Sethe personally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason why the three is missing is that Beloved was Sethe s third child but she killed her. Sethe thought the best thing for Beloved was to kill her; 124 was spiteful. Full of a baby s venom. (1) A mother always wants the best for their child. Sethe did not want Beloved to go through slavery that she went through, It is very weird to believe that a mother is living in a house where she killed her proper daughter. This setting is important because although it has a sad present, it will bring better memories. Beloved is present, but how ironic because Sethe killed her. 124 was quiet. (281) Beloved is a very mysterious character because we don t know if she is supernatural or real. Denver has no one to talk to because of how everyone views her family, so that s why Denver legitimately values beloved. We do not hear Beloved s spirit because she is present. Sweet Home and 124 are similar because Sethe and Paul D are together. These places can be viewed as suffering because of slavery and death, but it is now the present and not the past. Sethe is not letting her past affect her, so that s why she is at 124. If she never accepts her past, she will never get through the present. These setting are both very sorrowful. Sethe absolutely wishes she can live happily, but there is always something that is stopping her. Maybe she can never live happy because God has punished her for killing ... • 3. Effects Of Binge Drinking On College Grounds Introduction According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, binge drinking is defined as the consumption of five or more drinks for males and four or more drinks for females consecutively in the same day, within a two hour period. Problem drinking seems to be a phenomenon highly present amongst the college age population. However, not a lot of focus has been given to the negative impacts that come along with binge drinking on college grounds. Having encountered multiple clients reporting problems with alcohol consumption while in college sparked an interest in working with this population in order to have a broader understanding of what should be a major concern. It is no secret that binge drinking is present amongst college aged students. However, data collected by Kelly Weeder (2010), supports that this binge drinking is specifically present on college grounds. More specifically, binge drinking is even more prevalent amongst college students across campuses in the United States; being identified as a major public health concern (Johnston, O Malley, Bachman, Schulenberg, 2013). To a greater extent, although binge drinking does not seem to discriminate amongst genders, it seems to affect more college aged males than females as they reported more reoccurring episodes (Kelly Weeder, 2010). Literature supports, that this major health concern can be correlated with low various negative outcomes that include poor academic performance, risky sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry Introduction This essay reflects on the lecture titled Creative Economy by Martin Bouette. I found this lecture relevant to my final project. My topic is the changing trends in the apparel industry. How Corporate Social Responsibility affects the supply chain, going local from global, vertical from horizontal. The lecture is relevant in many aspects, for example the knowledge society s changes and ethical issues and responsibility within the apparel industry. The first part of the essay briefly speaks about the lecture Creative Economy and also introduces my final project. The second part explains in more detail the difference between horizontal and vertical integration. It also overviews the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Environment: This part argues that who is responsible for the environmental damages, how much concern the designer has for our environment. Aging Generation: says that older generations are a strong market for quality design, because they have time to enjoy all its benefits and they can afford it. And finally Ethical issues, which is the most important from my point of view. This is the part were my project could connect to Martin s lecture. It gives data about child labour in different countries in different industries. It argues that our society should educate consumers better to know more about the true cost of products they buy. The lecture says that the commercial success depends on these four factors I explained before. My Project In my original project proposal I was intended to research trends in manufacturing such as going local from global and going vertical from horizontal integration. However I realized since that such trends are mostly triggered by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies responding to customer demands. I would like to narrow down my project to focus on the affects of CSR on the apparel industry s supply chain. Therefor my research project aims to examine how CSR as a global trend affects vertically and horizontally integrated manufacturing in the fashion/apparel industry. A company won t integrate vertically its production if it against its business interest. There are some vertically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The system is established to influence the performance of the FSEs to a desirable way and keep their customers satisfied. Therefore, the company designed a six areas method for the performance bonus program. What s more, the primary goal is to make customers satisfied, however, the way to check if customers are satisfied is not direct enough, so they should find out some direct measures. The company tried to use its six area method to speculate customer satisfaction, especially based on the call back rate. This way is kind of indirect, if the company wants to know their customer satisfaction, what about just ask their customers? In the case, when the IMMULITE 2000 is going into work, the company was sometimes able to solve a problem before a customer was even aware that it existed. This way is a direct way: solve the problem before a customer aware, and then the customer would be happy about that. 2) Instead of using a results control system could DPC use action and/or personnel/cultural controls? If so, what would such a system look like? If not, why not? DPC could not use action control or personnel/cultural control instead of using a results control system like the performance bonus system. Action control is more specific than result control. It focuses on the process of the whole thing while result control is focuses on the result. To use action control, it is difficult for managers to distinguish good or bad behaviors, because the processes and jobs are so varied. Action control also may limit employees creativity ... This story has been evolved gradually over a long span of a millennium, and has been enjoyed by many nations. The Epic of Gilgamesh teaches life lessons that apply to the past and present while revolving around the question of what it means to be human, and to experience the phenomenon of friendship, love, and death. Notably, the thing about human life is that everyone desires friendship or to be simply not be alone. In the story of the epic of Gilgamesh talks about how friendship changed his whole life. • 9. My Experience On A Boat Ride To Catalina Island One of my greatest field trips ever was on a boat ride to Catalina Island. It consisted of a three day overnight trip to the beautiful Island. My Dad and I woke up at 4:35 in the morning just to get to school on time to load up the bus. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three different stores to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but super excited! Once we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone looked like they just got drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular, boring day of school. I think I was the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of course. Once the bus was completely packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom, then hopped on the bus. As we drove down the freeway, my classmates and I played fun games like: I Spy and truth or dare. When we arrived in Long Beach, my friends and I decided to skip rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we got reprimanded by the person who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the exciting adventure ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we would be taking. All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the old movies. Thankfully, I became pleasantly surprised when I saw a modern motor boat. Suddenly, the engine turned on, and I was afraid for our lives. The woman driving sped the whole way there. It was a long and bumpy ride. After safely making it to Catalina Island, I wanted to hurry and throw on my swim trunks so that I could jump in the clear beautiful water. The water was so clear, that I could see fish brushing against my legs. As we stepped off of the boat and followed our camp leader, we sat Matthew Milton Milton 1 Mrs. Spinelli English7 10/5 /17 down in a huge circle, and introduced ourselves to one another. There was one other school there aside from us, so this was very beneficial. After introducing ourselves, we grabbed our things and went to our cabins. Some students will choose to skip college to dive into ministry, military training, or work. Many students, however, do decide to pursue a life at college. In the United States alone, there are approximately 5,300 different colleges/universities from which a student can choose. This substantial number of colleges often leaves a student overwhelmed, confused, and stressed over finding their perfect college. • 13. The Costing Method Is An Accounting Process A1. Costing Method Costing Method is an accounting process that assesses itemized input costs of production and fixed costs to determine overall costs of production. (Kucera, n.d.) Competition Bikes is performing this analysis so management can determine the optimum sales units to breakeven from its San Diego plant based on the current sales mix of 9 Titanium bicycles for every 5 CarbonLite bicycles produced. Traditional costing is an easily implemented costing method that aligns with generally accepted accounting principles, GAAP. Traditional costing is the distribution of manufacturing overhead costs across the number of products produced based or another volume based metric. Traditional costing is very simplistic in the fact that it doesn t allocate out any nonmanufacturing costs. Traditional costing allocates costs to generic buckets such as direct material, direct labor and other overhead. Activity based costing (ABC) was developed as a costing method to overcome the weaknesses of traditional costing. ABC allocates costs to every activity, or manufacturing task, associated in the production of an item. ABC is more accurate than traditional costing. Competition Bikes grouped the following as tasks associated with the manufacturing of bicycles; Factory Setups, Quality Control, Engineering Service, Product Movements, Utilities, and Depreciation. As my journey in academics started, I faced the challenge and responsibility of being a single parent. Seeking opportunities to learn about economics and finance, I did what came naturally to me, which was study. Eighteen months of doing the unthinkable : working full time, studying full time, and raising a six year old, was the most exhausting and yet the most inspiring time of my life. Travelling to Asia to write a thesis comparing the Japanese and American health insurance industry, added a global flavor to my knowledge of medicine. Fueled by an interest in research, I received a scholarship for Ph.D. studies after medical school. Life events interrupted this journey, making it necessary to move from cities, and even countries. I made an unthinkable move to Australia, right after being promoted at the university. Each change has required patience and persistence, forcing me to look beyond hurdles and seek opportunities for growth. As a foreign medical graduate, in two countries, I have had to prove my skill as a physician and my specialist fellowships in both the U.S. and Australia substantiates this. • 16. Explain How The Military Techniques Used To Keep The Roman... The Roman Emperors used many different strategies as ways to keep the empire in control and safe. To prevent riots within the empire and attacks from outside of it, they utilized their army and roads, natural and manmade borders, strict Roman laws and even their circuses and bread as ways to keep the Roman Empire strong. It was these 4 points that kept the empire thriving for as long as it did. The Roman Army was an extremely skilled and powerful force that almost never was defeated. Their incredibly good fighting techniques helped with the control and safety of the empire. To keep order in the empire they had a civil guard maintaining peace. They dealt with less threatening affairs while the Roman legions and auxilia suppressed higher level rioting and rebellion. The Romans were highly skilled when it came to battles, and even though their weapons were not significantly better than their enemies they were highly disciplined. The army was organised in a very simple way, they would be split into groups in equal amounts with a leader or commander. Roads that the Romans designed were essential to keep the empire safe. Over the course of 700 years, they built more than 55,000 miles of highways throughout Europe. They built these roads to link the conquered empires and establish them as colonies. Three organisational concepts applying to one character: Three organisational concepts that apply to the character Jessica Pearson are Range of control, Delegation and Authority. Jessica is the head of the law firm suits. Range of Control: This refers to how many workers work under the supervision of the specific manager. Generally it is possible for someone s span of control to be able to increase however Pearson is at the top of the particular firm. Her range of control is evident right from the beginning of the episode; we are able to see throughout the episode that high level managers (Spectre and Lit) report to Pearson and that ultimately she is responsible for the company. Delegation: This is the ability of a manager to be able to transfer work to other employees that are lower than them or report to them. This is also seen as handing over authority to a person (or group of people) regarding a particular job. In many cases, however, this job is not done efficiently as many managers are not trained in the line of delegation, or for various other reasons delegations is done incorrectly, for instance there is a lack of belief that the employees will do the job correctly, or the need for a manager to make themselves completely indispensable etc. Pearson, nonetheless seem to be an efficient worker with the capacity ... • 20. The Technological Accessibility And Socioeconomic Mobility... I remember travelling to the resort and marvelling at the engineering feat of the Cayo Santa Maria (CSM) causeway in Cuba. The design of the causeway functioned as a method of connecting small parchments of man made land to the larger archipelagos. Despite the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 05, the causeway remained proportionately intact. During my visit in 11, however, the causeway was noted for its damaged bridges still in need of further repair1. The causeway itself (for the most part) is unlit. Due to the (prior) partisan embargo against Cuba, the CSM is a main artery for tourist flow with it being the major route to the resort(s). The main archipelago supports twelve hotels the first built in 01 is quite incredible, considering the limitations placed on the technological accessibility and socioeconomic mobility of Cuban workers. While traversing on the CSM causeway, I distinctly thought of the abundance of people travelling Cuba s main highway earlier. I had asked the guide, (foolishly,) Where are they going? To work . It was considered a privilege, I learned, to be able to work on the archipelagos at least you wouldn t have to walk to work2. A walk that took the workers half of their day. What happens when someone s value is reduced to only the stereotype they embody and the clothes they wear? The seemingly happy stereotype of the luxurious woman does just that. The stereotype of the luxurious woman portrays a woman who is extremely wealthy, adorned with jewelry and designer clothing. At first glance, a woman might aspire to live that extravagant lifestyle. The market plays into feeding this stereotype by marketing luxury items predominantly to women, and women who can afford them invariably become luxury items themselves (Chocano 110). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several studies have revealed pathogen specific responses to bile that alter the expression of virulence factors. When V. cholerae was grown in the presence of bile, expression of the essential virulence genes ctxAB and tcpA was drastically repressed [30]. Since bile is a heterogeneous mixture, crude bile was fractionated, and the components that mediate virulence gene repression were identified. It was shown that unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) present in bile, arachidonic, linoleic, and oleic acids were responsible for repression of ctxAB and tcpA genes [31]. However, expression of toxT encoding the direct transcriptional activator of ctxAB and tcpA was not affected and ToxT protein levels were similar between V. cholerae grown in the presence or absence of bile or UFAs [31]. Subsequently, the crystal structure of ToxT revealed that unsaturated fatty acids can bind to ToxT and keeps ToxT in a closed conformation that is not capable of binding DNA [32]. Hence ToxT cannot activate expression of ctxAB and tcpA in the presence of bile or UFAs and the genes continue to be repressed by H NS [33]. Being a parent comes with many criticisms, such as how you raise your child, what you feed your child, or how much attention is given to the child. More controversy lies on working mothers mainly due to the growing concerns for the child s well being. It is important to see the negative aspects of being a working mother as well as the positive outcomes. First and foremost the term mother must be addressed. In this _____ the term mother will refer to ______. In a study done, the mothers working schedule was evaluated in order to see if it was correlated with the child s behavior. This study was mainly focused on low income mothers working a non traditional schedule, the nightshift or graveyard shift. The results were what would be expected, that children experience a higher aggression behavior if their mothers took a nightshift job than if the mother did not work. (QUOTE) This is partly due to the fact that although mothers are physically present when their children arrive home, they may not be fully mentally there. That is, mothers who work at night may be exhausted in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Instead of paying attention to the child, their minds might be wondering somewhere else. Also when his wife tried to make him quit he just blew their many years of happiness and divorced her. In one of his quotes he stated, At twenty a man is full of fight and hope. I think the key to this statement being false is the word all. Sometimes, people want to cause harm to someone else in order to get back at them or to serve justice. If they think they are justified, that person would be more willing to commit an evil act. The second premise, in my opinion, is true. I do not think that a person, without outside influence, would simply do something which they do not want to. If it is not something a person wants to do, chances are it won t be done. Therefore, I think this premise is true. When evaluating the entire argument as a whole, I determined it to be valid. It is logical to move from premise one to premise two and develop the provided conclusion. Even though I believe premise one to be false, the argument is still valid. This is because, if it were true, it would make sense to draw that conclusion from those two statements. The conclusion does not present any new information not given in the premises either. The argument automatically becomes unsound because premise one is false. It is impossible for the argument to be sound by definition. The chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be analyzed. Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms. Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down. After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85° Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution. It took American forces until the summer of 1942 at the Battle of Midway to become properly prepared for the war. The American military learned much from their losses both through the strengths of the Japanese forces and America s own faults. After these losses were realized, changes were made within the military. These improvements allowed the American forces to turn the war back and begin to have successes in the Pacific. Pearl Harbour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another aspect of the Japanese success was powerful and effective tactics. Tactics include the training of the Japanese soldiers and their objectives in battle. Japanese soldiers were trained to die honourable to fight to the death and never be taken prisoner3. Training the soldiers to fight this way was not only traditionally Japanese, but it inspired them to continue fighting beyond what would be seen as a reasonable time. This sincere dedication to defending their people and Emperor (the cause of this training) allowed the Japanese soldiers to be effective killers even when faced with undeniable defeat4. Beyond their training, the Japanese had other advantages in their battle objectives. The use of radar was essential to the Americans, and so the Japanese were often ordered to target the radar stations on islands before beginning full assaults5. Targeting the radar stations prevented the Americans from properly estimating the Japanese forces or from knowing where they were headed. The final tactical advantage the Japanese had was that their air force consisted of small experienced squads especially for important missions6. Having been involved in a number of minor wars in east Asia in the 1930s, Japanese forces were far more experienced; this lead to a much greater effectiveness than the inexperienced Americans. Technologically, Japan was also ahead of America at the outset of the war. This, partially, is due to experience and having been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Does the Final Chapter of Bronte s Jane Eyre Fit with the... The final chapter s of Bronte s Jane Eyre have been a subject of discussion since it s first publication. Many say the the ending does not fit and other argue that it does. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the latter. The conclusion reveals the fate of Mr. Rochester and Jane, Adele, and of St. John. All of the endings, a mixture of both happy and tragic, to fit with the entire story and can explained because of the Victorian era. This essay will argue that the conclusion of this novel, more specifically that Jane does go back to Mr. Rochester, is extremely fitting to both the plot and the essence of the novel. Many people have an issue with the ending because of the fate of Mr. Rochester. They feel him being disfigured and blind is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jane still has her independence even though she goes back to him. Not only does the relationship even out, the biggest way Jane keeps her independence and her character traits is that she chooses to go back to Rochester. She sets aside her brain and uses her heart fully in making the decision. It was my time to assume ascendency. My powers were in play and in force, (301). She went back to Rochester and married him because she wanted to. She did not need to marry Rochester for his money or his social status, she married him because she wanted to. One of the biggest themes of Jane Eyre is the ideal woman and the struggle between choosing to be passionate or suppressing it. At the very end, it is most fitting for the character to develop in such a way that she chooses to be passionate. During the time of the novel as well, women were meant to suppress their wants and desires but the novel is very ahead of it s time. It s showing that it is perfectly alright to marry for love and marriage won t make you lose your independence. The happy ending for Mr. Rochester and Jane are not the only fitting thing about the ending. Adèle s fate is also very fitting for the plot and the English Victorian era. There was always a parallel between little Adèle and Jane when she was younger. Both were orphans, and both were eventually sent away to a terribly run school. • 40. The Horrors Of Slavery And Through Fiction, By Toni Morrison Beloved is not just the story of a ghost that came to haunt the living. Behind the word engraved on a tombstone, there is the history and the memory of an entire people. With this novel of a new genre, Toni Morrison delves into the horrors of slavery and through fiction, depicts the suffering and the lives of her ancestors. Yet far from being a documentary, the novel raises the question of amnesia in America regarding its own history. This is done through denouncing the excesses of a segregation system, abjection and rejection, which lasted for centuries. Even though Toni denounces the hurt, shame and pain, black people went through because of slavery, she does not portray that community as a victim of history. This is much more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This novel is based on a controversial subject: the plight of blacks in the United States since the end of slavery, which still remains a sensitive topic even today due to the existing inequalities. On the narrative level, Morrison tries to restore the voice of victims by giving them a folkloric dimension, bringing them closer to their true roots. Toni s writing style is often epic, rhythmic, leaving the reader breathless and holding him or her spellbound. She gives credibility to her characters, allowing them to assert by offering them the opportunity to speak in some trivial way, the least popular and stripped them of all artifice. She demonstrates that slavery denies not only the individuality, but also the identity of the one who suffers it. In psychology, identity is the awareness that an individual has of oneself and by the recognition of others, of what that individual is as well as of his or her ego. It allows the individual to perceive what is unique about him or her, that is to say, his or her individuality. The characters are the heir of several generations of slaves. They just gained their freedom while their ancestors were the property of someone else: the slave masters. Sethe was nineteen years old when she escapes from Bon Abri and Paul D just a few years older. What were therefore the objects of self identification while families ... This places a ban on immigration for anyone that is a citizen or naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. • 42. Unisex And The Utilitarian Ethical Dilemma Essay Tanisha Stidwell PHI 240 0001FA Mr. Beltran, Julian Nov. 6, 2016 Unisex and the Utilitarian In today s society exists the ethical dilemma referred to as unisex which can be actively described as the direct efforts to blur the line separating male from female. According to most, this is done to further the idea of equality between men and women. But to others it is a moral concern that ultimately could be detrimental to the members of the affected society. Avoiding a consequence such as this would thusly mean promoting the ideas encapsulated within the moral frame of Utilitarianism. This essay will showcase the problem with unisex and its relationship to the utilitarian. It, however, is necessary, first, to elaborate on the topic of unisex to better define and emphasize its problematic features. Unisex is defined as: (Adjective) of, designed, or suitable for both sexes; not distinguishing between male and female; undifferentiated as to sex. Or (Noun) The state or quality of being unisex, also referred to as Gender Blindness . This term unisex is used in opposition to the act of Gender Specification, which is the separating of labels or items boy or girl, for Women or for Men. Though the term unisex was popularized in the early 1960 s, the demand for things to be categorized as such, grew exponentially in the early 2000 s and peeks in 2016. This is due to the growing influx of people verbalizing and arguing their disapproval over gender specification, parents especially. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Worse, all failings were highlighted in an age of global communication and mass media, on display first whether a man made incident like September 11th attacks or natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. The decade found the complacent government failing to maintain modern emergency management practices, stimulating began a series of doctrinal upgrades and training improvements. Since formation in 1979, FEMA s core missions were to enhance the government s ability to survive a foreign attack, and to assist state and local authorities in disaster response (Carafano, 2005). And while the two core missions seem heterogenous in scope at times from an outside perspective, the biggest difference between the two tasks is duration. A man made disaster may be over in a matter of minutes as compared to a hurricane lasting several days, but in both instances the road to recovery is long. In order to streamline response and recovery in either scenario, FEMA was reorganized with new directives to support comprehensive emergency management practices (CRS, 2006). • 50. American Identity In The 18th Century Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries Americans developed a unique system of government with revolutionary ideals never seen anywhere else before. Americans adopted representative governments with democratic principles that allowed each person to have a voice in the decisions about their country. This atmosphere of new ideas and new political rights fostered a growing sense of a unique American identity not found anywhere else. By the eve of the American Revolution, colonists had embraced a new identity completely different from their English roots that helped fuel their resistance against Britain; however, plagued by petty disagreements and discouraged by the large Loyalist population, the Americans were never able to effectively unite against the British. During the early 18th century, the British government adopted a policy of salutary neglect toward the colonies, which gave Americans freedom to develop their own political systems as long as they followed the ideas of Mercantilism. When the first colonies were chartered in the 17th century, the majority adopted some sort of political institution that gave voting rights to each and every man. In the North, most citizens were able to participate in the local Town Meetings and voice their opinions. In addition, nearly every colony had a representative assembly with elected officials. These new political institutions that the Americans had built from the ground up, and learned to cherish caused Americans to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
