Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How can one
know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone know
that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red,
but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure?
Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these
points is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand
this is to compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece
of everything it touches. Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of anything ...
Another of the classic empiricists is George Berkeley (1685 1753), who believes that knowledge
is possible. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have
knowledge of reality (p.99). The best way to describe what Berkeley was trying to say would be
found in what we call today idealism. Idealism by definition is a position that maintains that
ultimate reality is mental or spiritual in nature. He believed that reality is made up in many
individual minds rather than one cosmic mind. Hence, when Berkeley says that we have an idea of
something he is not necessarily referring to a particular concept but to the experience of our
memory of the combined ideas.

Samuel Bodunde for the last part of my day; Mr. Bodunde is an outpatient coder. Illinois
Masonic has sent home all of their inpatient coders and all that are left in the house are a medical

The reality is that many places are just as bad including those semi rural areas where my Mother
and Father were born. However, people had fun there, including me on many occasions. When
viewed through a gendered lens, the people in Falls City Nebraska during 1993 as depicted in
this movie were no doubt unhappy. However, the unhappiness was not merely a function of
where they lived, the lack of opportunity and mobility, or even their unfortunate economic
circumstances. People can live happy lives while being burdened by all of the above. The
message of the movie, as I see it, was that gender stereotypes and prejudices can destroy many
people whose mental, emotional and physical framework doesn t fit the acceptable definitions
of male and female . In the case of those who are forced to repress their feelings and are somehow

In the beginning of the novel, Hesse artfully defines Siddhartha as the most intelligent, dashing
young man of his village. The untouchable Siddhartha, however, is unsatisfied with his life. Instead,
he is possessed by an unquenchable thirst for enlightenment. He rejects his father s dreams, he
rejects his teachers, and he even rejects the honorable teachings of Buddha because he honestly
believes that they cannot help him in his journey to enlightenment.
On the other hand, why would Hesse demonstrate Siddhartha s consistent behavioral pattern of
abandonment? Understandably, when a student learns all that he or she can from a tutor or a
mentor, they would want to move on, learning advanced subjects or skills. It s a natural path. One
cannot continue to learn addition for the rest of their lives. So, it s shocking that when Siddhartha
