Persuasive Essay On
Crafting a persuasive essay about yourself can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a delicate
balance between showcasing your strengths and achievements while avoiding the pitfalls of self-
promotion. The difficulty lies in presenting a compelling narrative that not only captures the
reader's attention but also persuades them to see you in a favorable light.
One of the key challenges is striking the right tone. Being too modest may downplay your
accomplishments, while being overly self-assured can come across as arrogant. The process
demands a thorough self-reflection to identify the aspects of your personality, experiences, and
skills that align with the persuasive message you aim to convey.
Moreover, finding a unique angle to present yourself can be daunting. With the plethora of
personal experiences and qualities one possesses, it's crucial to select the most relevant and
impactful elements that will resonate with the audience. Crafting a narrative that seamlessly
weaves these elements together, while maintaining coherence and engagement, requires a keen
understanding of storytelling techniques.
The challenge intensifies when considering the need for authenticity. Striking the right balance
between highlighting your strengths and acknowledging areas of growth requires a nuanced
approach. This authenticity is what lends credibility to your persuasive essay, making it more
relatable and compelling.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay about yourself is a demanding task that necessitates a
delicate interplay of humility, confidence, and authenticity. It demands introspection, a keen
understanding of storytelling, and the ability to choose and articulate the most compelling
aspects of your identity. As with any challenging writing task, seeking professional assistance
can be beneficial. If you find yourself struggling, remember that similar essays and much more

and help you present yourself in the most persuasive and effective manner.

The Stereotypes Of Hope Leslie By Catharine Sedgwick
And...
The encounters with Native Americans are a significant aspect of the literature of the
Early Americans. We can learn about both parties through the constant stereotypes
against the Native Americans by white people. These stereotypes impacted the culture
of society for future generations by making it look as though all Indians are bad
people with bad intentions. For example, the attempt to bring out the inner savagery
of the Indian culture. There are many stereotypes for example, the conversion of
Indians to another culture and forcing them to recognize the white culture as the
dominant culture over their native one. They had small chances of being accepted by
either society that they were born into or apart of. Finally, the miscegenation between
Native Americans and white people, or the intermarriage between cultures. The two
texts that I will be using to elaborate on this topic are, Hope Leslie by Catharine
Sedgwick and Edgar Huntly by Charles Brockden Brown. The stereotypes of Native
Americans in Early American literature have left an everlasting influence on the
American culture. The main theme in most of these stories try to bring out the inner
savagery of the Indian culture which is the most obvious stereotype seen in them. In
Edgar Huntly, this is seen the most in numerous occasions throughout the book.
When Edgar, the main character was very young his parents were killed by Indians
and ever since then he had been afraid of them. Although this soon
Personal Narrative-My First Stryker Brigade Combat Team
As I stood in the gunner s hatch completely focused with a firm grip on the 240B
machine gun that was mounted on top of the Stryker I was assigned to. I listened
to all the radio traffic that was being sent across the net hopeful and eager that
maybe there was a chance we could recover the Soldier that had been taken captive.
My heart was racing and the anticipation was high that night as it was pitch black
and all you could see was the gun fight s that were ensuing all throughout the Area

to block off, all that kept running through my mind was we have to get this guy

that was about to take place. Being QRF you re standing by waiting for that call

that day, as we stood by at the gate mounted and ready. Then a call came in that we
needed to provide assistance. We loaded up and pushed out not knowing how bad
things were. In route to the objective, we received word that a fellow soldier had
been taken. This made the importance of our mission all the more urgent.
Command had decided to push all available Soldiers and vehicles to designated
areas to block off any and all roads to intercept these persons that may have one of

team proceeded to the pre determined location to secure the area so that no one
could pass or slip by. As we maneuvered to the intersection, small arms engagements
were happening all around. Close air support was engaging targets and providing

AkzoNobel Painting Industries
Introduction
Founded in 1994 by the merger of Akzo and Nobel Industries, AkzoNobel is one of
the leading global decorative paints, performance coatings, and specialty chemicals
producers. Located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, AkzoNobel has operations in
over eighty countries and has over fifty thousand employees. Since the Netherlands is
a part of the European Union, the consolidated financial statements of AkzoNobel are
in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). AkzoNobel
believes in providing their customers with high quality products while both keeping
the services at a good price and meeting high health, safety and environmental product
standards.
In the letter from management in the 2012 annual report, the CEO discussed how the
current economic climate and continued decline in consumer confidence in the
housing markets worldwide have made conditions unfavorable. Because of these
unfavorable markets, the company has recently divested in some of their activities,
including their North American Decorative Paints to focus more on European
markets. Because of lower expected market growth rates, the company made the
decision to make a non cash impairment charge against the Decorative Paints business
assets in 2012.
Currently the Netherlands are a part of the European Union, as mentioned earlier, and
use IFRS. The official standard setting board of the Netherlands is Raad voor de

Compare And Contrast Karl Shapiro And John Donne
Different attitudes that Karl Shapiro and john Donne and perspective towards death
Introduction
Karl Shapiro and John Donne are poets who view death in a different manner
looking at to the main ideas of their poems Auto wreck and death be not proud. These
two poems share the same theme which is mortality and the main ideas are different
since Donne s poem denies the fact that death has power within people and Shapiro
seems confused by the unpredictableness of death by car accident. In real life we
also have people who view death in a different manner and they are encouraged by
their own beliefs. The Christians believe that they are going to live an eternal life
after death and they are readily waiting for death to take them away from the misery

He perceived death in a Christian manner by revealing the fact that we will all
wake up from the dead to live the eternal life, so death is not frightening because if
it looks like a sleep, then one day we are going to wake up from this sleep and it is a
lowly slave that depends on fate. The poet is very arrogant since he believes that
people cannot be defeated by this death and it cannot kill anyone.
Shapiro thinks that death is frightening and he is asking himself that why do we
have to die in a cruel manner like having an accident while john criticizes death by
saying death is a servant to many horrible masters such as fate and accident and he
is mocking death by saying sleeping pill can make us sleep better that death. The
poet chose to stick to his Christian believe that even if we die now, one day we are
going to wake up from the dead and live eternal live where we are going to live
peacefully without earthly conflicts. To support his point, the quote from the bible
revelation 14:13 then I heard a voice from heaven saying blessed are the dead who
die in the lord from now on, they rest from their labour for their deeds will follow
them this statement support John Donne s point of saying death is not as powerful as
it thinks and it is some

Costs to Birch Paper = $288, being $400 made up of $280 for materials (linerboard
and corrugating medium) and $120 for other costs. However because Thompson
sources its materials from Southern division who make a $112 profit on materials,
the total Cost to Birch Paper Company is materials $168 + other cost $120 = $288
West Paper Company Costs = $430 Eire Papers, Ltd Costs to Birch Paper Company

$36 and Thompson Division Contribution $5 = $391 Although the West Paper
Company looks at first to be the best choice, the truth is to be the Thompson
Division as it has the lowest cost if we assume that all transfer prices within the
company were calculated at costs. The lowest costs that associated within the
company would make Birch Paper Company to earn the highest profits and

Peta And Ethics
The subject of my documentary film will be based on an American interest group
called PETA. PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals , it is an
organization that stands against animal testing and abuse. Founded March 1980 by
Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, PETA s motto remains to be animals are not ours
to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. This
interest group s strong opposing stance on anything related to the animal usage norm
or cruelty in our country, gives members of society a simple reason to support them:
since PETA stands against the mistreatment of animals they must be good. I have
chosen to document this particular subject matter because of the interesting ways

Of course an average person would be against animal cruelty, but would this
individual subscribe to PETA? With so much controversy around this do good
organization, it actually has created a 50/50 audience for PETA. In order to tell
PETA to stop acts that seem hypocritical or honestly a bit extreme, citizens of
society should begin mailing their thoughts to its headquarters in Norfolk, VA. In the
end, it seems the whole of PETA will not be stopped anytime soon because of the
good intentions this company actually has. The only complications that need to be
eliminated from this group are the constant controversy pulls, hypocritical acts, and
ads that are created to intentionally rub the wrong way with most of society or even
their own supporters. Writing PETA or even physically going down to their
headquarters to confront them may be of help for this interest group to finally
behave like a company that only wants to spread a simple message of stopping the
mistreatment of
Symbolism In Wise Blood By Flannery OConnor
Could I change it if I wanted, can I rise above the flood? / Will it wash out in the
water, or is it always in the blood? (Mayer). A question posed by the artist John
Mayer holds true for the characters in Flannery O Connor s most famous novel,
Wise Blood. In this novel, O Connor paints a picture of a small town in the heart of
the Bible Belt and the internal struggle of its inhabitants. The protagonist, Hazel
Motes, procures a twisted version of the Gospel and evangelizes to those who are
made to believe they are lost. Yet, according to the teachings of Haze, this picture that
humans are inherently sinful and in need of saving is false. In this novel, Flannery O
Connor uses inanimate objects to show the attempts of Haze to replace what he
knows to be true. Enoch Emory, on the other hand, struggles with a curse he believes
he was born with wise blood. The prevalent themes of symbolism and imagery in
Flannery O Connor s Wise Blood represent the inner battle between spirituality and
the human nature of rebellion.
Coming back from the war, Hazel Motes mindset is simple following a
commission of sharing his gospel. O Connor uses inanimate objects to draw
comparisons and also contrast Haze s secular and spiritual sides. One of the
objects in Haze s life that becomes an obstacle for him is his hat. The issue with
Haze s hat is shown by saying, Haze had a stiff black broad brimmed hat on his lap,
a hat that an elderly country preacher would wear (O Connor 4). As Haze tries to
escape his preacher image, many around him see the hat as an indication of his
spirituality. This frustrates him, as he rejects any title that one may give him
concerning religion. In Nervous Shadow Walking Backwards, the author describes
the reason why this affects Haze so much by saying, In literature, a character s hat
often symbolizes identity, the selfhood of the character. Haze s hat is mistaken
throughout the book as a preacher s hat, an identity that he rejects (Bolton 91).
Because of his desperation to escape this reputation, Haze purchases a new hat that,
counterintuitively, attracts the same comments as before. O Connor uses this hat to
symbolize the inability of Haze to escape the image he so intensely despises.

Intervention Programs ( Anjour )
Intervention Programs (Anjour)
Early alert intervention programs can be beneficial to colleges to assist them with
identifying students who are at risk of not being academically successful (Tampke,
2012 2013; Bryan Simmons, 2009). Equally important, students entering college for
the first time encounter significant changes from those encountered in high school as
the academic demands are usually more rigorous. In addition, some freshman students
struggle with academic success, which impacts persistence; therefore, early
intervention programs should be considered. According to Vanthournout, Coertjens,
Donche, and Van Petegem (2012), student academic persistence is an expected
outcome of early intervention programs. Learning Methods Course. Tuckman and
Kennedy (2011) compared a group of 702 freshman college students at a large mid
western university: half of the students took a learning methods course, and half of
the students did not take the course. The purpose of the course was to assist students
with increasing accountability, self esteem, learning modality, readiness skills, and
managing their personal responsibilities. Data from the study concluded that students
who completed the methods course had a higher rate of persistence towards academic
achievement, and graduated at a higher rate than the students who did not take the
course. Moreover, the occurrence of graduating was 50% greater for those students
who were experiencing academic difficulty. For this
The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William
Shakespeare
INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes
in world literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common
concepts within a story. The author creates characters who are the tempter (usually
the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the protagonist.) The characters within the
plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The author may also
include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being
the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William
Shakespeare incorporated these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of
Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello:
The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film adaptations of
directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and
Oliver Parker (Othello 1995.)
THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil
unless there is someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip
Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s Third New International Dictionary of the English
Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the state of being tempted to do evil
(Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three predominant
pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is
the tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted.
Finally, in Hamlet, the

Characteristics Of Abnormal Behaviors In Parks And Rec
Abnormal behaviors are seen daily, especially in an Parks Department building in
Pawnee, Indiana. In the TV show Parks and Rec, a character by the name of Leslie
Knope displays a personality that one can identify as quirky and out of the ordinary.
Her behaviors can be analyzed as unusual, self defeating, socially unacceptable, and
causing personal distress. The times Leslie Knope has shown characteristics of being
unusual is numerous. In almost every episode of Parks and Recreation, Leslie portrays
a behavior that is out of the ordinary, and among a minority. An example of odd
behavior would be when Andy Dwyer, a coworker of Leslie, is having his leg casts
removed after falling into a pit. Leslie Knope is with him at the doctor s office,
and asks to keep the casts in her possession after a doctor removes them from Andy
s legs, believing that the casts were a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Another
display of unusualness is when Leslie decides to promote the Pawnee Zoo by
holding a marital ceremony for two penguins that are new to the zoo. In this
wedding, she talks for the penguins, and dresses them in bridal wear, even though
both of the penguins are male. After this causes some disruption in the town, she
proceeds to capture the penguins from the zoo in Indiana, locks them in car seats,
and drive them to a zoo in Iowa. The last display of unusualness is when Leslie is
trying to make up a story to a park ranger to explain what happened when someone
accidently got shot. She takes the blame for no apparent reason, and tries to come up
with a reasonable explanation on what happened. Rather than coming up with a
reason that actually makes sense, she goes on a tangent off random things that have
nothing to do with what the park ranger had asked her. Along with showing traits of
being unusual, Leslie also exemplifies abnormal psychologyby having self defeating
behavior. Leslie portrays this by being indecisive when it comes to making
decisions. In one episode, Leslie must decide between going to an important business
meeting at a restaurant, and going to a friends rock show at a bar. She decides to go
on the meeting, but spends the entire time talking about the rock show instead of
actually conversing about
Goal Of Deterrence
The goal of general deterrence is a punishment that sets an example for other would
be criminals. Punishment must be tough enough to dissuade others from committing
similar crimes. Incapacitation places offenders behind bars and removes the
opportunity for continued criminal activity. Specific deterrence seeks to impose
consequences that outweigh the profits if criminal activity. The goal of retribution is
that the seriousness of the punishmentis equal to the seriousness of the crime. This is
referred to as just desert. Rehabilitation focuses on treatment programs and helping
individuals with underlying problems that may have motivated them to commit
crime. It assumes once the underlying issues are resolved the individuals will no

Correlation Between Stock Market Returns, Inflation, And...
Abstract There is a significant correlation between stock market returns, inflation,
and money growth. The effects of macroeconomic variable on equity returns are
nonlinear and time variant. This characteristic makes the study of these effects
difficult. I estimate a GARCH model of monthly returns of S P500, where realized
returns and their volatility depend on 11 macro announcements. The purpose of this
paper is to see which macroeconomic factors affect aggregate stock returns most
during 2008 financial crisis. Also, the effects of these factors before and after the
crisis are compared. I find out ... Introduction Investigating firm s key statistics such
as sales, ROIC, and free cash flow may not be enough to evaluate the company s
performance and future. Macroeconomic indicators seem like excellent candidates as
proxies of latent economic state variables because they influence both changes in
firms cash flows and the risk adjusted discount rate (Gosnell Nejadmalayeri, 2010). In
fact, various economic indicators can strongly impact equity returns. However, it has
been always difficult to establish this effect. Indeed, Chen, Roll, and Ross (1986)
assessment of asset pricing is relevant today: A rather embarrassing gap exists
between the theoretically exclusive importance of systematic state variables and our
complete ignorance of their identity. The comovements of asset prices suggest the
presence of underlying exogenous influences, but we have not yet determined
A Brief Look at William Byrd
While researching the style period the Renaissance, I came about the composer
William Byrd. He played a large role in the paper I instructed and thus caught my
attention. I chose William Bryd as the subject for this paper merely because
according to The Top 8 Renaissance Composer Article by Aaron Green, he was
considered by many to be a genius on the keyboard and perhaps the greatest English
composer of all time. Other aspect about William Bryd I found interesting was his
interact with Queen Elizabeth I and Thomas Tallis, and this major works like Latin
motets or Cantiones Sacrae along with many more.
William Byrd s early life is unknown; He is believed to have been born in London
sometime between 1539 and 1545. The exact date is unclear. He was one of seven
children. He had four sisters, Alice, Barbara, Mary, and Martha and two brothers,
Simon and John. His parents were Thomas and Margery Byrd. There is no written
record of William Byrd s education, however he was a well educated man, able to
read and write very well in this time. William married in 1568 to a Juliana. They then
had seven children and a lifelong happy marriage. He eventually after a strong career
as a composer or chorister died on July 4th 1623 in a small village of Essex and was
buried in an unmarked grave. William was a top composer in the Renaissance era
and composed a large number of astounding musical pieces. Many believe that
William Byrd outdid any other composers of his era and called him a
Eisenhower Early Life
2 March 2016 Dwight D. Eisenhower
Background Information:
Dwight D. Eisenhower was the thirty fourth president of the United States. He was
known for his peaceful presidency and a well known United States army general of
world war two. One significant quote of his is, Only Americans can hurt America.
This particular quote stood out most because it makes sense and gets others thinking.
It s interpreted as, whatever step America decides to take, they ll be responsible for
the consequences, good or bad.
Early Life:
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890. His parents were Ida
Elizabeth Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower. He, his brothers, and parents
lived in Dwight s birthplace, Denison Texas. However, they did move to different
cities where his father could get better job opportunities. One example was at
Dwight s uncle s creamery. Throughout, Dwight s highschool life he enjoyed
playing football and was on his high school s team. He also had a good relationship
with his brother. He and his brother had a deal where one of them would work and
the other would attend college so that they could pay off the college tuition. They
were supposed to switch off but then, Gonzalez 2

The Department Of Homeland Security And Homeland
Defense
The defense, security, and safety American citizens enjoy each and every day is a
result of dedicated professionals committed to Homeland Security and Homeland
Defense. These broad initiatives require well defined missions, organized and focused
tasking, and finally, clearly understood duties, responsibilities, and operations.
Organizations charged with these responsibilities must be better resourced than those
of the enemy. Success in each of these objectives requires a well organized
infrastructure with clear mission sets. The afore mentioned areas of responsibility,
related planning, and resource/personnel management are fluid (rightfully so) and are
constantly reevaluated, restructured, and/or reinforced to best counterattack our
Nation s vulnerabilities before they become casualties.
In its very simplest terms, Homeland Security s focus starts from the United States
borders and works inward. At the forefront leading this initiative is the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS). DHS was established following the devastating terrorist
attacks carried out on September 11th, 2001 in an attempt to safeguard the American
people, US soil, and American values (DHS, 2016). DHS has a crucial mission set
that includes securing the nation from it s many threats and requires the utmost
dedication of its ~250,000 trained professionals.
These great Americans are trained in a vast amount of specialty areas including:
aviation and border security, emergency

Past Emotional Trauma
Did you know that in many cases, the cause of sex addiction can be linked back to
past emotional traumas? The two issues may seem like they are worlds apart but in
actual fact, emotional trauma, particularly in the early stages of life, can have a
significant impact on the persons ability to cope and result in unhealthy coping
mechanisms, such as sexual addictions. Sexual Abuse When sexual abuse occurs
(particularly for men, during their developing years), they can come to associate sex
with their self worth. The abuse can be so damaging, the person can begin to identify
themselves with that abuse and the gratification it gave the abuser. A damaging
perception is then created that they need to continue to gratify others in order to feel
fulfilled.
Environmental Factors Of An Environmental Environment
Environmental factors
There are different environmental factors that need to be considered in any
sustainable building design. The main objectives of an environmental friendly design
are to reduce or avoid the depletion of the critical environmental resource including
raw materials, water, and energy (Hawkes, 2013). Furthermore, the construction
designs should be able to prevent environmental degradation negative impact on the
environment that may be due to the infrastructure or the facilities in the building over
a period of time. This are the main critical factors, therefore, to be able to ensure that
there is less environmental impact, the optimization of the site is very important and
this includes the orientation of the site and the energy use as well as the
transportation methods of the materials (McMullan, 2012). These features are very
significant. Another essential element is the optimization of energy use including
reduction of energy load and finally the conservation of water and recycling of used
water.
Human effort
The comfort level is something that is considered very important in the construction
industry. Important comfort levels are usually linked to the working environment and
includes thermal comfort aspects i.e. air temperature, humidity, air velocity and the
radiant temperature. Some of the personal factors that can impact on the human
comfort level i.e. the metabolic heat and the clothing insulation which if not taken
into consideration can impact on
Death In Mitch Albom s Tuesdays With Morrie
Mitch Albom explores a rarely traveled intersection between life and death.
Therefore like countless other works, Albom s writing teaches us about death in a
dialectical sense. In Tuesdays with Morrie, Albom uses real life experiences to add
first person in sight to his writing when he tells the story of Morrie Schwartzs last
class, The Meaning of Life, and his recollection of his life as his time grows shorter.
Albom s narrative does not focus exclusively on death, but instead is used as a
reminder that life is not eternal. Accordingly, in Albom s writing, the steps to finding
the hidden truths in one s life becomes evident. Albom characterizes the steps to the
hidden truths as acceptance, a new understanding, separation of mind and body,...

Correspondingly, when Morrie is first diagnosed with ALS, leaving the doctor s
office is the first time his eyes are truly opened and he begins to identify the truth
around him. As for Morrie, he was stunned by the normalcy of the day around him.
Shouldn t the world stop? Don t they know what has happened to me? But the
world did not stop, writes Albom, it took no notice at all ... [and Morrie] felt as if
he were dropping into a hole (Albom 8). Furthermore, here a truth of dying is
ultimately called to attention, In Raymond Moody s Life after Life, various
accounts of people s close encounters with death are analyzed. The subject now
finds his whole life before him, so that he can panoramically review or evaluate it,
The near death experiences are standing as a second chance or wake up call for the
subject, (D Souza, 61). Similarly to Morrie, when a person is given the news that
they are going to die, it thereby directs the person to question life s meaning,
purpose, and ultimate worth, (Hyde 27). Life is giving no other option; face it or let
it consume you. The disruption brings about what is commonly referred to as a
moment of truth. (Hyde, The Call of Conscience 40 78; The Life Giving Gift of
Acknowledgment, esp. chapter three), (Hyde 27). In a result of that, this is the first
step of finding the truth; one must face it, accept it, and through this both the person

Skid row is greatly overpowered by African American according to Race, Space, and

African Americans. The African Americans in this space are homeless and seek

Prejudicial treatment in a workplace makes it more difficult to obtain well paying
jobs and or acceptance of employment. Discrimination within a job is well an
equality rule. The intensification of the criminal record effect among blacks is
consistent with earlier audit research (Pager 2007) and points to special barriers
facing blacks in the transition from prison to work. Employers, already reluctant to
hire blacks, appear particularly wary of blacks with known criminal histories.

My First Day Of School
Oh, no! That just isn t right. I m Laurie and I am going to tell you what really
happened the year I went to kindergarten. As I was headed out the door with my new
blue jeans with a belt my aunt got me as a present for my birthday this was unusual
because I usually wear corduroy overalls with bibs. Anyways as the older girl next
door she was distracting me from my mom because she wanted to know what day it
was. As i passed the corner I realized I forgot to stop and wave good bye to me. As
we were few steps from the crossing guard to go onto campus, I see the clouds
darkening and air . I left the girl walk with her friends I quickly try to run as fast as I
can too not be late for my first day of school, but I heard a noise in the corner where I
was suppose to turn and then I found myself in an alleyway between a Home Depot
and Stater Bros. I looked at the sewer lid then boom! Lighting hit the the stop sign
nearby seeing it burn up. As I looked back at the lid It was open with the lid on the
side of the road. Then I felt a slight touch on my shoulder. I turn back and see me. He
said You are my ticket to the good life What I said, what do you mean? Then he
pushed me into the sewer as I held my nose and closed my mouth. I look up and see
me closed the lid and the darkness filled the sewer. After I woke up choking on a
large piece of wood the size of a door floating in the water. As I clear the water from
my eyes I see a fall in the water as I try to paddle the board
Basic Database Design Concepts
The Fundamentals of Database Design
To end up with a good relational database application, you need to ask: Do I
actually need one? If so, how far do you want to take it? By this I mean, is this to
be a simple database to store information about only one, or very few, related entities
(i.e. a list of people who attended a certain event, and how they came to hear about
the event) which are not likely to change; or a permanent and well used application
with several different entities (i.e. Staff, Departments, Branches, SalesFigures for
various periods/staff members/departments) which are constantly changing. If the
forma is the case, a simple Flat File database is all that is required. There are several
basic database products on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is extremely useful if the application is to be distributed among users and the
database itself can be centrally stored and maintained by database specialists. The
Development/Test db will be already in the correct format for the transfer to a
backend server and the Access application will be ready to connect to it.
Examine your current database
There is no need to reinvent the wheel. If you have a current system, have a good
look at your tables. If you need to make sub columns , or the same data needs to be
entered on many lines, the database is indeed set up wrong. This is very often
identified by spotting repeating attributes , within the same entity, or lists of values
for one attribute. For example, you may have a table called StaffMembers with an
attribute (a column heading) called CompletedCourses where you need to list
several courses for each staff member. To improve on this, the database needs to be
Normalised , and probably redesigned.
Design the database correctly from the outset
The first thing you need to do is make a list of items you need to store information
about. These are called Entities or Relations (or Classes in OOAD)
Next you need to list all the things about each Relation that you need to record.
These are the Relation s Attributes (or the Class Properties in OOAD). For example,

Stereotypes In Photography
There is a old saying that says your eyes are they key to your soul, that saying must
have came to the mind of this photographer when he say the eyes of this young
lady. Even if she wasn t holding a cigarette, seeing only this girls eyes would be
enough to make the most prideful of men cry their eyes out. Here eyes haunt
anyone who looks at them and will make you feel sorry for her even without
knowing any context around this story. The reason photographs become so iconic
in our society is because you are able to capture a hole seen from one event in time,
even if that event was from one hundred years ago, and still be able to have people
feel so contented to this event. This photo can mean something different for every
eye that sees it but the main message the author was trying to convey by taking this
photo is a loss of youth and innocence.
Supper At Emmaus By Caravaggio
The art under analysis is the Supper at Emmaus by Merisi Da Caravaggio. The
painting is one of the many Christian arts painted by Caravaggio during the Baroque
art period. Due to the significance of the every aspect of the painting, the paper is
structured in a way that every part deals with one aspect of the painting. The first part
deals with the historical significance and the interpretation of the painting. In the
same part, the religious significance of the paintings is explored. The second part

In the painting the supper at Emmaus, the figures are never brought into the
daylight, but they are placed in a dark brown atmosphere of the closed room. This
is done by the use of a highlight that descends over the characters principle body
parts. The rest parts of the body are lefts in the shadow, and this gives the painting a
spectacular view as the light and dark is contrasted. This is a technique that is
referred to as the tenebrism technique common in other works by Caravaggio. The
technique differs a huge way to the Renaissance art period that was in existed a
century earlier that was synonymous with the painting taking a linear or distance

Technology s Negative Influence On American Culture
In general everything has its positive and negative sides, but has anyone thought
how technology could have a negative influence? With the new technology
everyday that maks life simple, lets people forget the negative side to it. Life is
somewhat becoming easier and the world is getting smaller, but everything has
consequences. People being further apart, being on the phone for hours, day after
day people loses deep concentration. Technology will have negative influence on
American culture. In the past, when someone is in need of certain information
usually spends time at the library between the books to gather some information and
that sometimes could take hours. Today from home and with one click, all the
information is easy access. Searching the web too much and having easy access
made people skim through the pages instead of the traditional kind of reading.

Dysfunction in the Midst of Adversity
Adversity is apparent in aspects of life. It manifests though feelings, thoughts, and
actions that occur through different situations. When adversity is combined with
dysfunction it creates a dynamic circumstance that tests the boundaries of individuals,
and by extension, society. This is the case when Director Clint Eastwood and author
Katherine Mansfield create the stories, Bridges of Madison County and Bliss.
Specifically, the characters of Francesca and Bertha must live with adversity they
have created through their own dysfunction in ascribing to societal conventions.

She is hesitant to let go of the dysfunction that surround her. In some ways she
welcomes back the structure of family life even when it seems so hard to let go of
the love she shared with Robert. She can never share with her family how she
really feels. Francesca comments on the realization of her family coming home:
They came home. And with them, my life of details. (BoMC). Those details
Francesca was not quite ready for and her defense mechanism of wanting to keep
her old life has disappointed her in some ways. Francesca s perspective was
drastically changed so much already that she was unable to focus on everyday life.
A concealed past of disappointment was hard to bear for both Bertha and Francesca.
They struggled with being able to overcome obstacles that their dysfunctional
relationships created. They could not deal with the ultimate shock that followed
separation from their relationships. The result is a perspective that will be hard to
hide for both Francesca and
Cosmetology Career
The career I have decided to arrange research on is a cosmetologist. Cosmetologists
earn a license for several reasons. Some cosmetologists want to perform work in a
certain field, such as skin care, nail treatments, makeup, or hairstyling. Others want to
work with one specific job, but are required to complete a cosmetology program to
fulfill the state s requirements. Depending on their role, cosmetologists may perform
several different services throughout the day. The career field that a cosmetologist

Employment of cosmetologists has been predicted to grow 13% by 2024. There
are job opportunities for this occupation in every state. The five states with the
highest employment level are California, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and
Texas. In Nebraska, the employment number ranges from 1,310 3,180.
Cosmetologists in Nebraska receive the highest annual wages out of every state.
Cosmetologists make the most money in Alaska and California. There are several
job opportunities related to beauty other than a cosmetologist. With a cosmetology
license, you are able to choose from several occupations. A salon manager is one of
these careers. A salon manager oversees the daily operations of a salon and is
considered a supervisor. A skin care specialist is another similar occupation. A
skincare specialist cleanses an individual s body and face to enhance their appearance.
A nail technician is another one of the many occupations similar to a cosmetologist.
Nail technicians do manicures, pedicures, nail art, acrylics, and cuticle

The history of Aokigahara is horrifying. Even before now, as Aokigahara being

The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate
the forest. The workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from
the forest to the local station, where the bodies are put in a special room used
specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers then play janken, rock
paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason for
these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone,
it s very bad luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream
throughout the night if left alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around,
searching for company . The people who live by always know what type of person
is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones, just the visitors,
and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no
longer released due to the abundant amount. Last number released was in 2010 and
the number was 54 dead and 247 people who tried. The people who work in the
little shops and cafes around Aokigahara talk to many of the people before they go

Rocky Shore Investigation
Null Hypothesis:
There is no pattern to the distribution of organisms over a rocky shore.
Variables:
Factors that affect the distribution of organisms over an area of shoreline are:
В· The depth of water which may cover an organism at high tide.
В· How resistant an organism in the littoral zone is to dessication.
В· How efficiently an organism can conserve water.
В· The proximity and availability of nutrition.

Also they may not inhabit zones 13, 14 and 15 because there is nothing for them to
feed on there. Limpets were most common in stations 9 12, therefore we can deduce
that the predominate seaweeds here are what they mainly feed on. The species of
seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium and
Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up in the
Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of
Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows
Lithothamnion availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well
adapted of all the marine snails for a life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet
has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it stays when the tide is out. On
soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard rock, the
shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a
spoonful of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip
on the rock, making it difficult for birds to prise off the limpet.
The periwinkles (Melarhaphe neritoides) on the shore are much more spaced out
and were found in every quadrat bar one. They were also in abundance in the mid

Demonism In The Metamorphosis

and his life after morphing into an enormous insect. Over the course of the story,
Gregor s family begins to demonize him as the threat they believe him to be. Gregor
s acceptance of this new existence only aids in the degradation of his humanity, his
lack of communitive skills only further this development, a stark contrast to his
previous salesman persona. Could he not have written out his thoughts, shifting items
into words, no matter how arbitrarily so? Perhaps, his family then would have
pursued a cure, or even a more harmonious living arrangement. However, this story
is less about the insect and more about the individual and how any form of excessive

people migrated into Austro Hungary between 1750 and 1850 and later again into the

The Levels of Processing Theory by Fergus M Craik Essay
Memory can be defined as the mental system for receiving, encoding, storing,
organising, altering and retrieving information (Coon Mitterer, 2012). Many a time
one is able to remember something, example how to drive a car, yet they are unable
to remember a mathematical formula for an examination. People vary in their ability
to remember certain things, and research conducted has proven that even infants
differ in their memoryabilities (Fagan Singer, 1963). It was discovered by
psychologists that memory is not static, but rather it is influenced by ones internal
factors and situational happenings to a large effect (Huffman, Vernoy Vernoy, 1997).

Whereas deep processing comprises of the focus on the meaning of what is being
noticed, as well as relating the item to something else (Goldstein, 2008). It is worth
noting that although all levels of processing produces some memory, Craik and
Lockhart stated that the deeper the level reached, the stronger ones memory will be
(Kretch., et al, 1982). This is because a deeper analysis of meaning enables one to
remember information better, due to it being stored in the long term memory very
efficiently (Huffman, Vernoy Vernoy, 1997).
The linking of new information with existing memories as well as knowledge is
known as elaborative encoding (Coon Mitterer, 2012). This is carried out through
rehearsal. It is stated that the more something is rehearsed, the easier it is for it to be
recognized (Hoeksema., et al, 2009). Through rehearsal, information is integrated
with what one already knows, thus making it more memorable (Sternberg Sternberg,
2012). Elaboration is a vital part of studying effectively. This is the factor that enables
material to be stored into long term memory (Goldstein, 2008). If new information is
linked to information that was previously already stored in the long term memory,
through elaboration, it becomes increasing easier for one to remember the new
information (Coon Mitterer, 2008). Thus when one studies something that he is
already familiar with he

The method is to be organized, investigate, and to explore the science of art. We

Typology is a unique form in photography and that is why we don t actually find that
artists would paint something in this form of work. To train your mind as a

Chipotle Mexican Grill is a fast food restaurant that opened its doors in 1993. They
specialize in serving a focused menu of several Mexican foods which are made
with only high quality ingredients and are priced reasonably. They also serve their

Chipotle s significant core competencies is to offer premium quality food at a low
cost. In 2003 to 2004 Chipotle decided to obtain locally grown produce and meat
from farms with high animal welfare standards. Farmers who followed the guidelines
set forth by the Department of Agriculture s were Chipotle s priority suppliers to
fulfill their Food with Integrity campaign. Providing a close business relationship
with these farmers has enabled both Chipotle and the farmers to have a competitive
advantage over their competition. Chipotle has found their customers appreciate a
restaurant with strong food ethics. Chipotle is currently leading the way for fast
casual dining especially since the trend in North America is for better healthier
ingredients. Chipotle also has a focused but limited menu. This affords their
customers the opportunity to make an easy decision and obtain their food quickly.
Chipotle has the means to focus on quality of all of their menu items. Competitors

How To Write An Essay On The Pigman
The Pigman, by Paul Zindel, is narrated by John Conlan and Lorraine Jensen, who
are two sophomores at Franklin High School. Recently, their unexpected friend
Mr. Pignati has died, and they are attempting to tell the story of how they met him,
and what happened after. When Lorraine and John first met they were on the bus,
and they had become friends by default. John and Lorraine were both outcasts, and
did not tend to fit in with a certain group of people. Their lack of interest in both
school and other activities draws them towards each other and to two other boys
named Dennis and Norton with bad reputations amongst other classmates. The
families of John and Lorraine are not accepting of their kids and do not allow them
to enjoy their youth or freedom. Because of this, John and Lorraine tend to try to
escape from their families. John and Lorraine, along with their two deadbeat
friends Dennis and Norton, find themselves playing a game where they call a
number attempt to keep them on the phone as long as they can. Lorraine picked a
number and started to tell prevarications about how she was from a charity asking
for money. She had called Mr. Pignati. He had seemed very nice, but also lonely. At
the end of the call he offered to donate them money and told them to pick it up at
his house. The next day, John and Lorraine traveled to Mr. Pignati s house where
they seemed very welcome and were comfortable. Mr. Pignati proudly displayed his
collection of ceramic pigs to John and Lorraine, and explained that he and his wife

Pignati excitingly hurries to the primate sections where he meets with his friend
Bobo who is a baboon. Mr. Pignati talks to the baboon as though it was a human, and
John and Lorraine conclude that this is a result of loneliness. After returning from the
zoo, Mr. Pignati s bond with John and Lorraine seems to become stronger, and they
nickname him the Pigman as a result of his pig
Examples Of Selfishness In The Veldt
Humanity has thought of many ways of besting one another. Whether it be for
military weapons, government, or how fertile the soil is, they always want to be
better. First world countries seek to digitize everything to live in a world of luxury
while third world countries long for opportunities and freedom. What they don t
have is what they desire, and what they already obtain they improve tenfold.
Stronger, faster, bigger, better: this is the motto every other person subconsciously
believes. Given the choice of one homemade cookie, or a jar of store bought
cookies, many would choose the latter. That s because they re greedy. Although they
may not always do it for selfish reasons, they strive for the best. Why join a race if

Where both The Veldt and A Sound of Thunder had shown remorse after going too
far, this story doesn t. The house kept going on it s programmed schedule, like
nothing had ever happened. The only sign of life in the story is the dog. However,
the humans didn t program the house to feed the dog, so it died staring at the human s
breakfast no one would eat. Two o clock sang a voice. Delicately sensing decay at
last, the regiments of mice hummed out as softly as blown gray leaves in an
electrical wind. Two fifteen. The dog was gone. In the cellar, the incinerator
glowed suddenly and a whirl of sparks leaped up the chimney. The humans were
caught up in providing themselves with the privileges of the advanced house to
make it more efficient. So much so they didn t bother to program it to simply feed
the dog. It was told to cook food three times a day, clean the house at regular
intervals, read someone a poem every night, and run the water among many other
things. Yet setting a task that would take less time and effort than all of the above
was too trivial a task. Once again, having innocent blood on one s hands because of

The Failure of Technology in White Noise by Don Delillo...
The Failure of Technology in White Noise by Don Delillo
One particularly unfortunate trait of modern society is our futile attempt to use
technology to immunize ourselves against the fear of death. The failure of
technology in this regard is the general subject of Don Delillo s book White Noise.
Throughout this novel, technology is depicted as the ominous messenger of our
common fate, an increasing sense of dread over loss of control of our lives and the
approach of inevitable death in spite of the empty promises of technology. In this
essay I will examine Delillo s portrayal of technology and its role in our society.

Jack Gladney is on his fifth marriage and his fourth wife, and his world is filled
with the clutter of everyday life, with four children around the house and an uneasy
sense of normalcy . Delillo, however, exposes how absurd what we consider to be
normal really is in our technology dependent society and our compulsive desire to
have machines save us from ourselves and reaffirm our personal identities:
In the morning I walked to the bank. I went to the automated teller machine to check
my balance. I inserted my card, entered my secret code, tapped out my request. The
figure on the screen roughly corresponded to my independent estimate, feebly arrived

gratitude flowed over me. The system had blessed my life. I felt its support and
approval. The system hardware, the mainframe sitting in a locked room in some
distant city. What a pleasing interaction. I sensed that something of deep personal
value, but not money, not that at all, had been authenticated and confirmed (42).
One day an industrial accident occurs and a lethal black chemical cloud descends

Jack is told that in about thirty years the doctors will be able to
How To Read Like A Professor Summary
Charles Baxter has become a very successful author, mainly of short stories. In one
of his most championed pieces Winter Journey , from his short story collection
Gryphon, the story follows a character named Harrelson. The reader may read the
story and wonder what the point of the story was. What exactly was the message or
moral of the story? That is where Thomas C. Foster s masterpiece, How to Read
Like a Professor, comes into play. In the very first chapter of the book Foster
introduces the topic of quests. In which he argues that every trip is a quest. Harrelson
who is going to pick up his fiance, does in fact go on a journey. Therefore, Harrelson
s journey is not just a simple task, instead it embodies a questhe embarks in which he

On top of that he is not able to complete a simple task of cooking a can of vegetable
soup. It is apparent early on that Harrelson is an introvert, he may not handle
situations well with people, and looks to himself for any entertainment. That is until
his fiance, Meredith, calls, asking for a ride back to her residence. This leads
Harrelson to embark on a journey to get her.
Harrelsons journey, however, is a quest. A quest to find out more about his life.
The structural obligations for a quest are all here. Obviously, Harrelson himself is
the quester of the story. He embarks on a trip to pick up his fiance. The place to go
is the Mobil station where Meredith currently is. Harrelson s simple reason for
going is to pick up Meridith. There are many of obstacles along they way to
arriving to the gas station. When asked if he could pick up Meridith he replies
with, I m drunk. (Baxter 55). As it is well known driving while drunk does not mix
well together, and this will for certainly raise a plentiful amount of obstacles.
Harrelson hits a parked car. (59) Not surprising at all really considering the snowy
circumstances and the fact that he is currently drunk. In his drive to the the station,
he almost kills a dog, gets involved in two accidents, thinks about possibly hitting a
child, almost losing himself emotionally, and finding himself needing a nap. Quite
the amount of obstacles for a 15 minute(s)
Loyola University Chicago Empowering Sisterhood
I would like to be considered for Loyola University Chicago Empowering
Sisterhood. For the duration of my life, I have appreciated participating in events
advocating for an array of human rights whether that be for the LGBTQA+
community, Black Lives, Muslim Lives, and/or equal gender rights. I believe that a
program made specifically for Women of Color will be beneficial to its members. It
enables the women involved to become more connected through similar
circumstances. Due to being a minority in the United States, many women of color
have dealt with similar trials. Being in the same group would allow for more
understanding and engagement during open discussion, and better collaboration.
Being in a group of women with similar characteristics as my own would make my

I look forward to participating in activities and community service events that will

women, we can come together and share unique experiences and perspectives to bring
about understanding and make positive changes in the Loyola Community. LUCES
will enable me to grow spiritually, academically, and socially around women I can
identify with. Though, while being with multicultural women that share one great
similarity, we all come from different backgrounds and we are unique. Our
differences could pertain to socioeconomic status, ethnicity, religion, high school
GPA, and so much more. Being in this diverse setting with the knowledge of one
common denominator will enable us to share these differences and be comfortable

Causes And Effects Of The North Sea Flood
The North Sea Flood occurred within Saturday, 31st January 1953, and seemed to
remain persistent prior to subsiding within the morning of Sunday, 1st February.
Regardless of initial concerns regarding a plausible flood arising, citizens within the
coastal regions of England and the Netherlands remained ignorant toward constant
cautionary aids. The North SeaFlood has been considered as a calamitous
phenomenon that has forced detriments upon the citizens that resided nearing the
Northern Sea ; coastal areas of Netherlands, England, Belgium, France as well as
Denmark. Oblivion toward the aftermath of the flooding resulted within fatalities and
varying injuries. This remains as the focal reasoning referring to constant fatalities
regarding floods.
(Social Impacts)
Immense devastation was apparent consequential to the occurrence of the disaster,
the number of casualties were intensified through the lack of initial response to
warnings, that hindered individuals to evacuate prior to the flooding. Foregoing the
flood devastating the citizens within several eastern European nations, Princess
Victoria; an English passenger vessel, attempted to journey across the Irish Sea. Once
departed, the passengers ferry experienced the initial developments of the European
windstorm. 133 fatalities occurred once the Princess Victoria voyaged across the Irish
Sea, the vigorous windstorm continually developed to form a flood that aimed to
devastate the social and environmental stability
Letter To Santa
Neither snow, nor rain or Amtrak train can stop the students from St. Mary s Catholic
School from posting a letter to Santa Claus.
For the past 17 years, the kindergarten through third grade classes, have made the
half mile trek to the Royal Oak Post Office with letters to Santa in hand.
We ve had snow, we ve had ice, we ve had trains, everything you can think of, but
we have always managed. Nothing has stopped us, said Mary Stanko, a second
grade teacher at St. Mary s.
Stanko originated the popular holiday season event at the Royal Oak school with
both academics and fun in mind.
We write letters so it ties in with our English program, and the kids anticipate getting
a letter back from Santa, so they are very excited, she said.

The group is comprised of several enthusiastic volunteers who make sure that Santa
reads every wish sent to him by people from all over Michigan, and sometimes as far
away as Alaska.
The ability to tell Santa about your fondest dreams seems to resonate with children
and adults alike. Dick and his band of elves have passed along notes appealing to
Santa s spirit of charmed kindness that sometimes appear to be more of a cry for
help and hope rather than a request for a gift.
The letters run the gamut, from your standard list of everything a kid wants for
Christmas to them asking just for their family to be happy. You can sense from the
letter that there s something going on because they are not asking for anything other
than, I want mommy and daddy to be happy, Dick said. There are letters sometimes
from adults who are reaching out to Santa because they are going through problems.
It may be some sort of therapy for them to write it down. So, those are really special.
Santa s elves will begin the task of sorting through hundreds of letters on Tuesday,
December 13th at an undisclosed workshop somewhere in the Royal Oak area. From
there, it s up to the man himself to check the list s twice before he makes his way to
town on Christmas
The Oppression Of Women In Dorothy Lantz s Wizard Of
Oz
Wizard of Oz wore to protect themselves from minorities getting into control. This
is the central idea of many hate groups such as the KKK, the fear of minorities
rising. Dorothy and her followers stripped down this safety blanket and revealed the
societies true intentions, which is to marginalize minorities further. By doing this,
many women have the same courage Dorothy did by approaching a man/society and
accepting the challenge of obtaining equal rights. Dorothy s fantastic adventure
appeals to many women of the 30s and 40s. This was a time of brutal oppression
against women, where women s roles were strict of that in the kitchen. Lantz
describes women of that time and their roles in depth as she states, And just like

These women certainly seem to carry the stereotype of what constitutes the good
woman to the audience (Cloud 108). Glinda gives the audience a figure to aspire
to be. As Cloud states, she is very feminine with bright pink colors, her hair is
curled to perfection, and her beautiful long dress is almost childlike. Dorothy looks
up to her as a mother figure. Glinda has nurturing qualities and pushes them on
Dorothy as well. The Wicked Witch of the West is the exact opposite of being
unattractive and unwelcoming to Dorothy. This poses two type of women in the
30s and 40s: one that appeases men and stays in the home, and one that goes
against the formalities of what defines a woman, resulting in hatred towards her.
Dorothy chooses the type of women she wants to be minute she gets to the land of
Oz by crushing the other Wicked Witch. Dorothy adheres to stereotypes and chooses
to follow in the footsteps of Glinda. In Edward Recchia s, There s No Place Like

The Development Of New Zealand
New Zealand is a country which for the most part is made up of hills and
mountains area. These hilly and mountainous natures cover about 18 million
hectares in land. This means that about 69% of the country land has slopes greater
than 12В°, and got the country to be nicknamed the hill country . This 69% hilly
land is further divided into two based on the sloppiness of the land. The land with
slope between 12 28В° is called hill land ; thus, the land whose slope exceeds 28В° is
themed steepland (DSIR 1980). The diversity in New Zealands hill country physical
regimes creates ranges of slope and altitude, coupled with a extensive latitudinal
range, a mid oceanic setting surrounding the subtropical with cooling moderate
climates, and complex geologic and tectonic regimes. As a consequence of this
diversity, the productive potential of New Zealand s hill country, and its response to
climatic events, created the use of sustainable land us act to be used across the
country.
Out of these 18 million hectares, 6.3 million hectares in the North Island
comprises of majorly soft rock and crushed soft rock terrain (Mclvor, Douglas,
Dymond, Eyles and Marden. 2011). About 23% of the 18 million is made up of
volcanic ash and loess mantled terrain comprises largely on the periphery of the
Central Volcanic Zone. Also, 14.5% of the available land is Hard rock hill country,

What Are The Causes Of Procrastination Among
University...
It is undeniable that most students include university students have the habit of
procrastination mostly in their homework, reports and assignments. They usually like
to delay their works and do them last minutes. Beswick and Mann (1994) state that
procrastination is the action of delaying the beginning or completing an intended
course. Ferrari and Pychyl (2008) state that the habit of procrastination brings a lot of
negative effects to the students, such as low achievement of students or increase their
physical and psychological problems. There are three reasons that cause
procrastination among the university students, which are distractions, difficulty in
regulating emotions and lack of motivation. The first reason of procrastination...

There are some causes of lack of motivation, such as lack of confidence, unclear goals
and they are surrounded by negativity. Some of the university students are lack of
confidence. They always think that they are weak in anything and they will get low
marks in their assignments. This will cause them do not have the motion to start or
do the assignments. In addition, some university students do not get motivation from
their friends. A students attitude in his studies is easily influenced by his
surrounding friends. For example, if a student is surrounded by the friends who will
do their assignments earlier and submit them on time, the student will be motivated
by completing and submitting his assignments on time. Moreover, some of the
university students do not have their clear goals in their studies. This will cause
them lack of motion to study and do their assignments. For example, if a student do
not determine a goal or fix a direction in his studies, he will feel bored and become
lazy to complete the assignments. This is because he does not know what he will
obtain from his studies. Therefore, the third reason of procrastination among the
university students is lack of
Differences Between Morris And Mcneill
Morris and Mcneill are both able to describe a period of rapid change and properly
outline causes of this explosive growth. Morris, through a more magnified approach,
creates a competitive landscape in the reader s mind between the West and the East,
and emphasizes the changes to the lives of individuals in this new era. Mcneill
instead chooses to analyze the subject through a focus on mankind, emphasizing our
evolved relationship with earth, and the global changes that led to this balance. The
usefulness of each piece depends on what the reader wanted to know coming in.
Regardless, both pieces are informative and the messages of both authors are worthy
of attention, despite their differences. The title of Why The West Rules For Now,

For Mcneill, This astounding profligacy, too, counts as something of a triumph for
the human species (p.15). For Morris, Western Europeans succeed where the
Romans and Song failed (p.499). Morris s next several sentences detail the reasons
why success existed where it did not exist in the past, but again, Mcneill avoided
that conversation entirely by praising humanity. Morris also focuses on the plight of
different populations during these times of rapid change, reminding readers that
different people can experience the same event in many different ways. He
mentions the positive and negative views of steam powered class of iron chieftains
(Morris, p.503), and gives credit to the Chinese Would be reformists (Morris. p.506),
who were punished or ignored for their suggestions. Mcneill leaves us guessing why
fossil fuel overshadowed biomass, even though the great majority of the world s
population used no fossil fuels directly (Mcneill, p.14). Mcneill is not concerned
with explaining exactly where and why fossil fuel use exploded. The fact that it s use
increased is the only important part for his focus on ecological changes. Readers gain
a deeper understanding of energys transformation with

Dr. Jan T.
March 17, 2013
Introduction This paper presents a marketing plan for Kickstart, a new product
launched February 25, 2013 from Mountain Dew and PepsiCo in the United States.
PepsiCo is a beverage and snack company worldwide and Mountain Dew s Kickstart
is launching out a new way to do mornings with Kickstart, a fruit flavored caffeinated
Mountain Dew beverage (www.kickstart.com). Kickstart is advertised to present an
alternative to traditional morning beverages one that tastes great, includes real fruit
juice and has just the right amount of kick to help them start their days

(McRae, 2013). For Kickstart, these industry trends can be leveraged significantly.
Climate Key Trends (PEST) In terms of the PEST Analysis, political factors (Finch,
2012; The Secret Marketer, 2011) suggest that there is little governmental regulations
regarding the non alcoholic beverage industry domestically. There is evidence to
suggest that politicians and consumer advocacy groups have asked the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration to investigate the safety of the high levels of caffeine in
energy drinks for younger people (Choi, 2013) and that other companies are under
investigation for these concerns but this does not present a barrier to the marketplace.
Economically, soft drinks are not expensive and they are consumed by most
everyone. The soft drink industry is not influenced significantly by economic
influences. However, the raw materials used to create soft drinks and in juices like
sugar, fruits and vitamins may affect production costs and PepsiCo s costs of
production and the profit margin (Finch, 2012). The distribution channel and
transportation also affect the price of the product and the commercial tax rates can
vary (Finch, 2012). Socially (Finch, 2012), people today are sensitive towards the
content of advertisements. Taking this into account, PepsiCo is targeting the next
generation of consumers, and they differentiate

Exploring the Differences Between Idealism and Representative Realism The two
differences between idealism and representative realism are, realists believe that
objects properties such as smell and taste exist in the object but representative
realists disagree and believe that these need to perceive to exist. The second
difference between idealism and representative realism is for idealists things only
exist when perceived, whereas representative realism means things exist if
perceivable. Explain and illustrate how an idealist distinguishes between a real and

Idealists also like to use the idea that when you are in a normal experience and state
your sense data will be perfectly normal, however when you are in a hallucination
experience your sense data becomes unpredictable and irregular. An example of
this can be related to the words my guitar as the words are a convenient way of
referring to a repeated pattern of sensory experiences. Despite this fact, the
argument can be seen as flawed as if you were in an hallucination it would be hard
to know whether your sensory data is irregular. In conclusion idealists distinguish
between real and hallucination experiences in a variety of ways, the key reason
was, by showing us how a real experience is connected to a past experience
meaning we can t be hallucinating. Access the view that only minds and ideas exist
To access the view that only minds and ideas exist, we must look at what the
Idealists believe in relation to this. In this essay I hope to sum up the general ideas
that only minds and ideas exist. Idealists have the viewpoint that all experience we
gain are of mental representations of the real thing. This means that nothing that we
see is actually real, but simply something that is manipulated by our minds to tell us
it is a certain object. Idealists also believe that there is no external world as
everything is unknowable; from this we can learn that

Persuasive Essay On

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Crafting a persuasive essay about yourself can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a delicate balance between showcasing your strengths and achievements while avoiding the pitfalls of self- promotion. The difficulty lies in presenting a compelling narrative that not only captures the reader's attention but also persuades them to see you in a favorable light. One of the key challenges is striking the right tone. Being too modest may downplay your accomplishments, while being overly self-assured can come across as arrogant. The process demands a thorough self-reflection to identify the aspects of your personality, experiences, and skills that align with the persuasive message you aim to convey. Moreover, finding a unique angle to present yourself can be daunting. With the plethora of personal experiences and qualities one possesses, it's crucial to select the most relevant and impactful elements that will resonate with the audience. Crafting a narrative that seamlessly weaves these elements together, while maintaining coherence and engagement, requires a keen understanding of storytelling techniques. The challenge intensifies when considering the need for authenticity. Striking the right balance between highlighting your strengths and acknowledging areas of growth requires a nuanced approach. This authenticity is what lends credibility to your persuasive essay, making it more relatable and compelling. In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay about yourself is a demanding task that necessitates a delicate interplay of humility, confidence, and authenticity. It demands introspection, a keen understanding of storytelling, and the ability to choose and articulate the most compelling aspects of your identity. As with any challenging writing task, seeking professional assistance can be beneficial. If you find yourself struggling, remember that similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where expert writers can guide you through the process and help you present yourself in the most persuasive and effective manner. • 2. The Stereotypes Of Hope Leslie By Catharine Sedgwick And... The encounters with Native Americans are a significant aspect of the literature of the Early Americans. We can learn about both parties through the constant stereotypes against the Native Americans by white people. These stereotypes impacted the culture of society for future generations by making it look as though all Indians are bad people with bad intentions. For example, the attempt to bring out the inner savagery of the Indian culture. There are many stereotypes for example, the conversion of Indians to another culture and forcing them to recognize the white culture as the dominant culture over their native one. They had small chances of being accepted by either society that they were born into or apart of. Finally, the miscegenation between Native Americans and white people, or the intermarriage between cultures. The two texts that I will be using to elaborate on this topic are, Hope Leslie by Catharine Sedgwick and Edgar Huntly by Charles Brockden Brown. The stereotypes of Native Americans in Early American literature have left an everlasting influence on the American culture. The main theme in most of these stories try to bring out the inner savagery of the Indian culture which is the most obvious stereotype seen in them. In Edgar Huntly, this is seen the most in numerous occasions throughout the book. When Edgar, the main character was very young his parents were killed by Indians and ever since then he had been afraid of them. Although this soon
  • 3. Personal Narrative-My First Stryker Brigade Combat Team As I stood in the gunner s hatch completely focused with a firm grip on the 240B machine gun that was mounted on top of the Stryker I was assigned to. I listened to all the radio traffic that was being sent across the net hopeful and eager that maybe there was a chance we could recover the Soldier that had been taken captive. My heart was racing and the anticipation was high that night as it was pitch black and all you could see was the gun fight s that were ensuing all throughout the Area of Operation (A.O.). As I scanned the surrounding area we were assigned that night to block off, all that kept running through my mind was we have to get this guy back. On this mission, we would be required to move about the southern region of Afghanistan staying at several different FOB s. While staying at FOB Pasab in the Maiwand region, we were assigned as a Quick Reaction Force (QRF). We were on standby for a mission that was about to take place. Being QRF you re standing by waiting for that call that back up is needed and you spring into action. B CO was assigned a mission that day, as we stood by at the gate mounted and ready. Then a call came in that we needed to provide assistance. We loaded up and pushed out not knowing how bad things were. In route to the objective, we received word that a fellow soldier had been taken. This made the importance of our mission all the more urgent. Command had decided to push all available Soldiers and vehicles to designated areas to block off any and all roads to intercept these persons that may have one of our own. The amount of pure raw emotion I was feeling was unexplainable. Our team proceeded to the pre determined location to secure the area so that no one could pass or slip by. As we maneuvered to the intersection, small arms engagements were happening all around. Close air support was engaging targets and providing feedback of movement on the ground just trying to direct us to where that Soldier may

Located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, AkzoNobel has operations in over eighty countries and has over fifty thousand employees. Since the Netherlands is a part of the European Union, the consolidated financial statements of AkzoNobel are in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). AkzoNobel believes in providing their customers with high quality products while both keeping the services at a good price and meeting high health, safety and environmental product standards. In the letter from management in the 2012 annual report, the CEO discussed how the current economic climate and continued decline in consumer confidence in the housing markets worldwide have made conditions unfavorable. Because of these unfavorable markets, the company has recently divested in some of their activities, including their North American Decorative Paints to focus more on European markets. Because of lower expected market growth rates, the company made the decision to make a non cash impairment charge against the Decorative Paints business assets in 2012. Currently the Netherlands are a part of the European Union, as mentioned earlier, and use IFRS. • 5. Compare And Contrast Karl Shapiro And John Donne Different attitudes that Karl Shapiro and john Donne and perspective towards death Introduction Karl Shapiro and John Donne are poets who view death in a different manner looking at to the main ideas of their poems Auto wreck and death be not proud. These two poems share the same theme which is mortality and the main ideas are different since Donne s poem denies the fact that death has power within people and Shapiro seems confused by the unpredictableness of death by car accident. In real life we also have people who view death in a different manner and they are encouraged by their own beliefs. The Christians believe that they are going to live an eternal life after death and they are readily waiting for death to take them away from the misery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He perceived death in a Christian manner by revealing the fact that we will all wake up from the dead to live the eternal life, so death is not frightening because if it looks like a sleep, then one day we are going to wake up from this sleep and it is a lowly slave that depends on fate. The poet is very arrogant since he believes that people cannot be defeated by this death and it cannot kill anyone. Shapiro thinks that death is frightening and he is asking himself that why do we have to die in a cruel manner like having an accident while john criticizes death by saying death is a servant to many horrible masters such as fate and accident and he is mocking death by saying sleeping pill can make us sleep better that death. The poet chose to stick to his Christian believe that even if we die now, one day we are going to wake up from the dead and live eternal live where we are going to live peacefully without earthly conflicts. To support his point, the quote from the bible revelation 14:13 then I heard a voice from heaven saying blessed are the dead who die in the lord from now on, they rest from their labour for their deeds will follow them this statement support John Donne s point of saying death is not as powerful as it thinks and it is some

The lowest costs that associated within the company would make Birch Paper Company to earn the highest profits and revenues. [pic] Should Mr Kenton accept this bid? Why or why not? • 7. Peta And Ethics The subject of my documentary film will be based on an American interest group called PETA. PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals , it is an organization that stands against animal testing and abuse. Founded March 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, PETA s motto remains to be animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. This interest group s strong opposing stance on anything related to the animal usage norm or cruelty in our country, gives members of society a simple reason to support them: since PETA stands against the mistreatment of animals they must be good. I have chosen to document this particular subject matter because of the interesting ways PETA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course an average person would be against animal cruelty, but would this individual subscribe to PETA? With so much controversy around this do good organization, it actually has created a 50/50 audience for PETA. In order to tell PETA to stop acts that seem hypocritical or honestly a bit extreme, citizens of society should begin mailing their thoughts to its headquarters in Norfolk, VA. In the end, it seems the whole of PETA will not be stopped anytime soon because of the good intentions this company actually has. The only complications that need to be eliminated from this group are the constant controversy pulls, hypocritical acts, and ads that are created to intentionally rub the wrong way with most of society or even their own supporters. Writing PETA or even physically going down to their headquarters to confront them may be of help for this interest group to finally behave like a company that only wants to spread a simple message of stopping the mistreatment of
  • 8. Symbolism In Wise Blood By Flannery OConnor Could I change it if I wanted, can I rise above the flood? / Will it wash out in the water, or is it always in the blood? (Mayer). A question posed by the artist John Mayer holds true for the characters in Flannery O Connor s most famous novel, Wise Blood. In this novel, O Connor paints a picture of a small town in the heart of the Bible Belt and the internal struggle of its inhabitants. The protagonist, Hazel Motes, procures a twisted version of the Gospel and evangelizes to those who are made to believe they are lost. Yet, according to the teachings of Haze, this picture that humans are inherently sinful and in need of saving is false. In this novel, Flannery O Connor uses inanimate objects to show the attempts of Haze to replace what he knows to be true. Enoch Emory, on the other hand, struggles with a curse he believes he was born with wise blood. The prevalent themes of symbolism and imagery in Flannery O Connor s Wise Blood represent the inner battle between spirituality and the human nature of rebellion. Coming back from the war, Hazel Motes mindset is simple following a commission of sharing his gospel. O Connor uses inanimate objects to draw comparisons and also contrast Haze s secular and spiritual sides. One of the objects in Haze s life that becomes an obstacle for him is his hat. The issue with Haze s hat is shown by saying, Haze had a stiff black broad brimmed hat on his lap, a hat that an elderly country preacher would wear (O Connor 4). As Haze tries to escape his preacher image, many around him see the hat as an indication of his spirituality. This frustrates him, as he rejects any title that one may give him concerning religion. In Nervous Shadow Walking Backwards, the author describes the reason why this affects Haze so much by saying, In literature, a character s hat often symbolizes identity, the selfhood of the character. Haze s hat is mistaken throughout the book as a preacher s hat, an identity that he rejects (Bolton 91). Because of his desperation to escape this reputation, Haze purchases a new hat that, counterintuitively, attracts the same comments as before. O Connor uses this hat to symbolize the inability of Haze to escape the image he so intensely despises. In
  • 9. Intervention Programs ( Anjour ) Intervention Programs (Anjour) Early alert intervention programs can be beneficial to colleges to assist them with identifying students who are at risk of not being academically successful (Tampke, 2012 2013; Bryan Simmons, 2009). Equally important, students entering college for the first time encounter significant changes from those encountered in high school as the academic demands are usually more rigorous. In addition, some freshman students struggle with academic success, which impacts persistence; therefore, early intervention programs should be considered. According to Vanthournout, Coertjens, Donche, and Van Petegem (2012), student academic persistence is an expected outcome of early intervention programs. Learning Methods Course. Tuckman and Kennedy (2011) compared a group of 702 freshman college students at a large mid western university: half of the students took a learning methods course, and half of the students did not take the course. The purpose of the course was to assist students with increasing accountability, self esteem, learning modality, readiness skills, and managing their personal responsibilities. Data from the study concluded that students who completed the methods course had a higher rate of persistence towards academic achievement, and graduated at a higher rate than the students who did not take the course. Moreover, the occurrence of graduating was 50% greater for those students who were experiencing academic difficulty. For this
  • 10. The Theme Of Good And Evil In Hamlet By William Shakespeare INTORDUCTION The theme of good versus evil is one of the most common themes in world literature. Within this theme, an author can incorporate three common concepts within a story. The author creates characters who are the tempter (usually the antagonist) and the tempted (usually the protagonist.) The characters within the plays can also demonstrate virtuous and unvirtuous traits. The author may also include symbolism to contrast the forces of good and evil; one such example being the contrast between dark and light. Even the popular playwright William Shakespeare incorporated these concepts into three great tragedies. The Tragedy of Hamlet: Prince of Denmark, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice. These themes appear in the modern film adaptations of directors Gregory Doran (Hamlet 2009), Roman Polanski (Macbeth 1971), and Oliver Parker (Othello 1995.) THE TEMPTERS AND THE TEMPTED There is no battle between good and evil unless there is someone or something tempting someone. According to Philip Babcock Gove, editor of Webster s Third New International Dictionary of the English Language, temptation is the act of tempting or the state of being tempted to do evil (Gove). In Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet, Shakespeare provides three predominant pairs of tempters and tempted. In Othello, Iago serves as the tempter while Othello is the tempted. In Macbeth, the Witches are the tempters while Macbeth is the tempted. Finally, in Hamlet, the

  • 12. Characteristics Of Abnormal Behaviors In Parks And Rec Abnormal behaviors are seen daily, especially in an Parks Department building in Pawnee, Indiana. In the TV show Parks and Rec, a character by the name of Leslie Knope displays a personality that one can identify as quirky and out of the ordinary. Her behaviors can be analyzed as unusual, self defeating, socially unacceptable, and causing personal distress. The times Leslie Knope has shown characteristics of being unusual is numerous. In almost every episode of Parks and Recreation, Leslie portrays a behavior that is out of the ordinary, and among a minority. An example of odd behavior would be when Andy Dwyer, a coworker of Leslie, is having his leg casts removed after falling into a pit. Leslie Knope is with him at the doctor s office, and asks to keep the casts in her possession after a doctor removes them from Andy s legs, believing that the casts were a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Another display of unusualness is when Leslie decides to promote the Pawnee Zoo by holding a marital ceremony for two penguins that are new to the zoo. In this wedding, she talks for the penguins, and dresses them in bridal wear, even though both of the penguins are male. After this causes some disruption in the town, she proceeds to capture the penguins from the zoo in Indiana, locks them in car seats, and drive them to a zoo in Iowa. The last display of unusualness is when Leslie is trying to make up a story to a park ranger to explain what happened when someone accidently got shot. She takes the blame for no apparent reason, and tries to come up with a reasonable explanation on what happened. Rather than coming up with a reason that actually makes sense, she goes on a tangent off random things that have nothing to do with what the park ranger had asked her. Along with showing traits of being unusual, Leslie also exemplifies abnormal psychologyby having self defeating behavior. Leslie portrays this by being indecisive when it comes to making decisions. In one episode, Leslie must decide between going to an important business meeting at a restaurant, and going to a friends rock show at a bar. • 14. Correlation Between Stock Market Returns, Inflation, And... Abstract There is a significant correlation between stock market returns, inflation, and money growth. The effects of macroeconomic variable on equity returns are nonlinear and time variant. This characteristic makes the study of these effects difficult. I estimate a GARCH model of monthly returns of S P500, where realized returns and their volatility depend on 11 macro announcements. The purpose of this paper is to see which macroeconomic factors affect aggregate stock returns most during 2008 financial crisis. Also, the effects of these factors before and after the crisis are compared. I find out ... Introduction Investigating firm s key statistics such as sales, ROIC, and free cash flow may not be enough to evaluate the company s performance and future. Macroeconomic indicators seem like excellent candidates as proxies of latent economic state variables because they influence both changes in firms cash flows and the risk adjusted discount rate (Gosnell Nejadmalayeri, 2010). In fact, various economic indicators can strongly impact equity returns. However, it has been always difficult to establish this effect. Indeed, Chen, Roll, and Ross (1986) assessment of asset pricing is relevant today: A rather embarrassing gap exists between the theoretically exclusive importance of systematic state variables and our complete ignorance of their identity. The comovements of asset prices suggest the presence of underlying exogenous influences, but we have not yet determined
  • 15. A Brief Look at William Byrd While researching the style period the Renaissance, I came about the composer William Byrd. He played a large role in the paper I instructed and thus caught my attention. I chose William Bryd as the subject for this paper merely because according to The Top 8 Renaissance Composer Article by Aaron Green, he was considered by many to be a genius on the keyboard and perhaps the greatest English composer of all time. Other aspect about William Bryd I found interesting was his interact with Queen Elizabeth I and Thomas Tallis, and this major works like Latin motets or Cantiones Sacrae along with many more. William Byrd s early life is unknown; He is believed to have been born in London sometime between 1539 and 1545. The exact date is unclear. He was one of seven children. He had four sisters, Alice, Barbara, Mary, and Martha and two brothers, Simon and John. His parents were Thomas and Margery Byrd. There is no written record of William Byrd s education, however he was a well educated man, able to read and write very well in this time. William married in 1568 to a Juliana. They then had seven children and a lifelong happy marriage. He eventually after a strong career as a composer or chorister died on July 4th 1623 in a small village of Essex and was buried in an unmarked grave. William was a top composer in the Renaissance era and composed a large number of astounding musical pieces. Many believe that William Byrd outdid any other composers of his era and called him a

The Department Of Homeland Security And Homeland Defense The defense, security, and safety American citizens enjoy each and every day is a result of dedicated professionals committed to Homeland Security and Homeland Defense. These broad initiatives require well defined missions, organized and focused tasking, and finally, clearly understood duties, responsibilities, and operations. In its very simplest terms, Homeland Security s focus starts from the United States borders and works inward. At the forefront leading this initiative is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS was established following the devastating terrorist attacks carried out on September 11th, 2001 in an attempt to safeguard the American people, US soil, and American values (DHS, 2016). Sexual Abuse When sexual abuse occurs (particularly for men, during their developing years), they can come to associate sex with their self worth. The main objectives of an environmental friendly design are to reduce or avoid the depletion of the critical environmental resource including raw materials, water, and energy (Hawkes, 2013). Furthermore, the construction designs should be able to prevent environmental degradation negative impact on the environment that may be due to the infrastructure or the facilities in the building over a period of time. This are the main critical factors, therefore, to be able to ensure that there is less environmental impact, the optimization of the site is very important and this includes the orientation of the site and the energy use as well as the transportation methods of the materials (McMullan, 2012). These features are very significant. Another essential element is the optimization of energy use including reduction of energy load and finally the conservation of water and recycling of used water. Human effort The comfort level is something that is considered very important in the construction industry. Important comfort levels are usually linked to the working environment and includes thermal comfort aspects i.e. air temperature, humidity, air velocity and the radiant temperature. Therefore like countless other works, Albom s writing teaches us about death in a dialectical sense. In Tuesdays with Morrie, Albom uses real life experiences to add first person in sight to his writing when he tells the story of Morrie Schwartzs last class, The Meaning of Life, and his recollection of his life as his time grows shorter. Albom s narrative does not focus exclusively on death, but instead is used as a reminder that life is not eternal. Accordingly, in Albom s writing, the steps to finding the hidden truths in one s life becomes evident. Albom characterizes the steps to the hidden truths as acceptance, a new understanding, separation of mind and body,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, when Morrie is first diagnosed with ALS, leaving the doctor s office is the first time his eyes are truly opened and he begins to identify the truth around him. As for Morrie, he was stunned by the normalcy of the day around him. Shouldn t the world stop? Don t they know what has happened to me? But the world did not stop, writes Albom, it took no notice at all ... [and Morrie] felt as if he were dropping into a hole (Albom 8). Furthermore, here a truth of dying is ultimately called to attention, In Raymond Moody s Life after Life, various accounts of people s close encounters with death are analyzed. The subject now finds his whole life before him, so that he can panoramically review or evaluate it, The near death experiences are standing as a second chance or wake up call for the subject, (D Souza, 61). Similarly to Morrie, when a person is given the news that they are going to die, it thereby directs the person to question life s meaning, purpose, and ultimate worth, (Hyde 27). Life is giving no other option; face it or let it consume you. The disruption brings about what is commonly referred to as a moment of truth. (Hyde, The Call of Conscience 40 78; The Life Giving Gift of Acknowledgment, esp. chapter three), (Hyde 27). Examine your current database There is no need to reinvent the wheel. If you have a current system, have a good look at your tables. If you need to make sub columns , or the same data needs to be entered on many lines, the database is indeed set up wrong. This is very often identified by spotting repeating attributes , within the same entity, or lists of values for one attribute. To improve on this, the database needs to be Normalised , and probably redesigned. Design the database correctly from the outset The first thing you need to do is make a list of items you need to store information about. These are called Entities or Relations (or Classes in OOAD) Next you need to list all the things about each Relation that you need to record. These are the Relation s Attributes (or the Class Properties in OOAD). For example, one

The species of seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium and Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up in the Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows Lithothamnion availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well adapted of all the marine snails for a life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it stays when the tide is out. On soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard rock, the shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a spoonful of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip on the rock, making it difficult for birds to prise off the limpet. It is worth noting that although all levels of processing produces some memory, Craik and Lockhart stated that the deeper the level reached, the stronger ones memory will be (Kretch., et al, 1982). This is because a deeper analysis of meaning enables one to remember information better, due to it being stored in the long term memory very efficiently (Huffman, Vernoy Vernoy, 1997). The linking of new information with existing memories as well as knowledge is known as elaborative encoding (Coon Mitterer, 2012). This is carried out through rehearsal. It is stated that the more something is rehearsed, the easier it is for it to be recognized (Hoeksema., et al, 2009). Through rehearsal, information is integrated with what one already knows, thus making it more memorable (Sternberg Sternberg, 2012). Elaboration is a vital part of studying effectively. This is the factor that enables material to be stored into long term memory (Goldstein, 2008). If new information is linked to information that was previously already stored in the long term memory, through elaboration, it becomes increasing easier for one to remember the new information (Coon Mitterer, 2008).
