The Han-Chinese Conflict
There are many conflicts that exist around the world today. One of these conflicts includes the
conflict between the Uighurs and Han Chinese. This conflict has been occurring within the
Xinjiang region for many years now. The Xinjiang region is located within China in the upper west
side of the state. In 1775 the Qing dynastyhad a region of various Turkic, Mongol, and Chinese
groups under control. The Xinjiang Province became the first establishment of the Chinese
Imperial in 1884. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912 the Xinjiang province was ruled by
the Uighur group known as the East Turkestan Islamic Group. The Uighurs is a Muslim and
ethnically Turkic population that regard themselves as culturally and ethnically close to Central
Asian nations. East Turkestan lies in the heart of Asia and is the homeland of the Turkic speaking
Uighurs and central Asia people such as Kazaks, Kyrgyz, Tatars, Uzbeks, and Tajiks.

chafed under Chinese rule and protested the steady influx of ethnic Chinese into the region. There
was tension between he Uighur population and Han Chinese ethnic western China that resulted in

Bog Bodies Essay
A bog body is a human cadaver that has been naturally mummified in a peat bog. Bog people are
both geographically and chronologically widespread, they have been dated back to between 8,000
BCE and the Second World War.
Bog bodies have kept their skin and internal organs due to the specific conditions of the
surrounding area. These conditions include highly acidic waters, low temperatures, and a lack of
oxygen. These conditions will affect the skin of the body, causing it to tan. The oldest known
body is the skeleton of Koelbjerg Woman from Demark. This body was dated back to 8,000 BCE,
which is during the Mesolithic period, but the oldest fleshed bog body is Cashel Man. is body dates

Example Of Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is the learning of different sounds, words and syllables learnt through
listening and speaking (Gillon, 2004). Phonological awareness is important for children in early
childhood to learn to establish their reading and writing skills (Hill, 2012, 160). The way
children learn phonological awareness is through word play, stretching sounds, repeat ion,
rhymes and song (Hill, 2012, p. 134; Roger Scenter, 2013).Phoneme awareness is a smaller area
considered as part of phonological awareness, phoneme awareness focuses on individual sounds

shaving both sides of the head and leaving a strip of hair down the middle. It originated from the
Native American tribe of Iroquois. Traditionally, the hair was not shaven but plucked from the
head. There is also a reverse form of this hairstyle where the middle of the head is shaved leaving
hair on both sides. This hairstyle comes in different styles, features, formats, and varieties. It is a

In his hairstyle, the sides are not shaved completely but retain some short hair. To achieve that, a
blade is not used but instead clippers for shaving the sides. The strip at the centre of the head is
then left to a maximum of 2 inches. The length of the hair at the centre is established using a
straight razor. The appearance thus remains textured since the hair strands are not uniform. As
the hair moves towards the back of the head, it fades to a shorter length. A strong hair gel is then
used to hold this sort of short hair. Since it omits the unnecessary shaving of hair at the sides of
the head, it is seen as a milder form of this hairstyle. The sides of the head are trimmed just a
little bit so that there can be a distinct difference in hair length with the middle part. This makes a
lot of people to find it more appealing. It is also an attractive form of this hairstyle without having

What Is The Social Responsibility Of Architect
Introduction
In the process of the good spatial generation, architects are representatives of institutional
knowledge and the captain of the ship . They have power and control over designing and
production of space either directly by taking part in this process via their personal practices or
indirectly affecting it through their professional organizations they work for. This is where the role
of professional ethics in architecture comes to play and they should be limiting and leading this
power through describing architect s social responsibilities and also should be preventing unethical
attitudes in all kinds of spatial practices by using this power and knowledge. ( What is the Social

The architect, who works for the client, portrays and tries to work around the views of that client.
Architecture should ideally serve the people, but because of the clients control, this is hard.
Therefore architects have to choose between whether to serve the client or the people. ( What is the
Social Responsibility of Architects? , 2010)
Most believe that because the client is the one paying them, their building will be built their way
and the architect is there to serve them. This is how the building, which possibly had enormous
potential becomes THEIR building meant to serve no one, but them. Eventually these projects end
up as failures. How can a project not designed keeping the users in mind serve the users?
Others, like the TAR (The Architects Resistance, formed by students from Columbia, MIT, and
Yale in 1968) believe the architect should be building for the people even though this is usually
different than the client. ( What is the Social Responsibility of Architects? , 2010) Easy to preach
and hard to practice. Who said life is fair?
So what all does an architect need to know (in no specific order)?

Should Citibank launch the card product? Yes If Citibank is striving to reach its goal of
achieving $100 million in earnings by 1990, introducing a credit card into the Asia Pacific
market would be an effective means of achieving this goal. The case for launching the card
product can be made based on a few reasons. First, as can be seen in the information presented in
Exhibit 4, many of the countries Citibank is considering launching in have fairly high projected
growth rates (with some as high as 8 and 9 percent). Another reason that promotes the case for
Citibank s card launch is the fact that there is a fairly low penetration of credit cards in the

Harriet Jacobs a True Woman
The nineteenth century was an age of male dominance as well as slavery; even white women were
viewed more as property or a burden to men instead of an equal. In concur with male supremacy the
cult of true womanhood was practiced, an ideology which was brought forth in the eighteen century
stating four virtues which women should abide by, piety, purity, submissiveness and domesticity, in
turn they would be grant happiness and power; hardly being the case of either, women were
subjected to the control and dependency of their malecounterparts. These virtues were taken mostly
in attention of the elite white woman, not considering poor white women as well as slaves, who
were thought to be less than women; African American women were excluded... Show more content

Women were perhaps naГЇve in the sense that they accepted that men were head of the universe.
Instead Jacobs refuses to accept Dr. Flint, escapes and not with her benefit in mind but with the
hope of freedom for her children. She knows that Dr. Flint would not sell her children if she
were there for fear of her escape in search of them, but she figured that if she were no longer
around her children would instead be a burden to the doctor and he would eventually consent to
selling them. When her children are finally safely in the North and Jacobs is able to flee the
south in search of them, her main concern was to find employment and being able to provide for
them, she told her daughter Ellis I had laid up a hundred dollars and before long I hoped to be
able to give her and Benjamin a home, and send them to school. A woman supporting her
children, with no man as head of the household was not viewed as domestic; she was degraded
for not marrying and having children out of wedlock. Jacobs gives a new definition of domestic,
it may have been too futuristic to people of her era, but today a domestic person is devoted to
home life or household affairs. Jacobs did not need to accept Dr. Flint s attempt to domesticate her
or need to conform to the domesticity expectations of needing to be married, she provided for her
children even when she had the bare minimal for herself, she always thought of their welfare first
even if it meant an anguished

Pediatric Implications of Diagnostic, Interventional, and...
Since the beginning of the propitious world, the core aspect that keeps it thriving is the propensity
for people to discover innovations; however, progress of the past is, systematically, detrimental to
the future. Not long after the revolutionary invention of the X ray in the late 19th Century, an
unprecedented number of medical examiners noticed (unknown to the time) radiation burns all over
their body; decades later, an extraordinary surge in cancer cases had arisen. Perhaps, during the
course of these years, scientists and researchers desired to further progress the x ray (into the
immense subsidiaries that are here today), and disregarded any flaws in the apparatus. This
systematic inclination continues into the present time as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diagnostic radiology has evolved into being the foundation of medical institutions across the
nation; yet, with more and more pediatric patients needing a radiographic image, there are
greater risks of calamities. Shortly after the 20th century X ray scare was resolved, hospitals
nation wide used the state of the art machine to diagnose broken bones, teeth snags, infections,
and even certain cancers. Along with new medical standards and safety measures, followers of
Wilhelm Röntgen (the inventor of the X ray) discovered the properties of X radiation (Hart 48
50). Being close to gamma rays on the electromagnetic spectrum, X radiation fully penetrates the
human body, and since they are produced from a changing nucleus, they are able to affect and
change the nucleus (cells) of the absorbing matter (Cancer 1 4; Burrill (2) 59 62). Oftentimes, the
radiographer will not line up the machine correctly with the organ, tissue, or bone in question and,
therefore, will tell the patient they must retake the image. One X ray of the midsection is equal to
three full days of background radiation (Hart 50). Radiologic technologists do not keep records of
patients prior radiation exposure so it is up to them to discuss (with a general practitioner) and
know their limits (Choy 88). A

Panama Canal Expansion
Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in.
A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years,
making it possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in
the Los Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf
of Mexico, as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and
shipped across the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs
not only on the coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth.
But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on
enormous ships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide,
965 feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide,
1,200 feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the
ships going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere
in the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options
between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said.
In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make
the necessary improvements.
As for highways and rail lines, there are scant resources for new projects. But existing dollars,
including funding from state and federal motor fuels taxes, could be steered toward projects that
benefit freight movement.

The Berlin Wall As A Physical Symbol Of The Political,...
Assess the significance of the Berlin Wall as a physical symbol of the political, social and
economic repression in East Germany, particularly East Berlin
The Berlin Wall was a tangible physical symbol of escalating Cold War tensions between the
democratic West and communist Eastern bloc, and its construction facilitated repressive political,
social and economic impacts in East Berlin. On 13 August 1961, the Berlin Wallwas suddenly
sealed overnight separating the Soviet occupied eastern sector from the Allied occupied western
sectors of Berlin and has remained in place until its fall on 9 November 1989. The Berlin Wall
was a significant step in solidifying the oppressiveness of Soviet style socialism in the German
Democratic Republic (GDR), reinforced by the Stasi as the main vehicle in perpetuating political
repression. As a result of closing the Berlin Wall, infringements upon social liberties and the
suppression of human rights arose in East Berlin. The Wall represented the GDR s unworkable
socialist regime modelled around a planned economic system as well as the consequential
devastating economic decline to East Berlin and the GDR.
At the pinnacle of hostility and ideological conflict between the Soviet Union and the West, the
Berlin Wall closed the remaining gap in the Iron Curtain, confirming the GDR s political stance and
oppression. To the West, the Wall created influential propaganda evidencing East Germanyas a

The Failure Of A Psychodynamic Relationship
The problem with cross sex friendships is the failure to meet and keep up a platonic relationship.
These relationships start out in the levels of friendships from acquaintances to personal or
intellectual, ultimately evolving into intimate and, or emotional. The triangular theory of love is
then tested by a matter of combinations of the three following components intimacy, passion and
commitment. After there is a set combination, evolved feelings show through attraction, one sided
feelings, personality similarities, attachments and the risks. Cross sex friendships can not have a
relationship without the components of the triangular theory of lovewithout resisting the inevitable
feelings evolving between the two.
There are a variety of relationships in which people misinterpret or have a hard time defining.

Punk Rock Subculture
Punk Rock in America: The Development, the Youth Subculture and Salt Lake City
In both the United States and Great Britain, a genre of music, now known as punk rock was
developing in the late 1960s and 1970s that would provide an outlet for the emotions young adults
were feeling at that time. For the purpose of this paper, I will focus on the development of punk in
the United States, however punk rock arose at the same time in both the US and Great Britain, and
had what one might describe as a symbiotic, yet adversarial relationship (Stalcup). Therefore, one
cannot completely disregard the development of punk rock in Great Britain while discussing the
development of punk rock in America. In the US, punk rock arose on the east coast, mostly ... Show

American punk bands first began on the east coast in places such as New York City as a
counteraction to the sounds being played during the time, such as The Beach Boys surfer
sounds, folk music and disco. Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground were some of the first
pioneers in what would become American punk. After the Velvet s demise...New York was a
hotbed of activity in the early 1970s (Stalcup). One of the best punk clubs in New York City
during this time is known as CBGB (Country Blue Grass and Blues). Many groups such as the
New York Dolls and Television, got their start either at CBGB or in New York as a whole.
Television would go on to become a band that influenced others to speak to the youth subculture.
With Television s song, (I Belong to the) Blank Generation Television emphasized the emptiness of
his generation, on the chorus, I belong to the blank generation and I can take it or leave it each
time (Stalcup). Since once something is introduced, it cannot be taken away, punk rock bands drew
inspiration from those such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges. However,

Media Influence
Media is a huge part of people s lives in today s society. Through different forms of media people
can now obtain vast amounts of information at the slightest touch of a finger. While it is convenient
and comforting to have access to so much data, the question arises. How much of this information
we receive shapes our lives? Mass mediaas an agent of socialization can prime and/or skew people
s belief system through mere exposure without the slightest clue of it affects. Mass media as an
agent of socialization can structure people s perception on society as a whole by simply using
influence, control, and trust.

Influence
Media influence is the force by which ideas are injected into people s lives shaping the very culture
of society. This influence is masqueraded through hidden media message, resulting in a change in
its audience which can be positive or negative, abrupt or gradual, short term or long term. Although
mass media s influential effect can reach a wide ranged audience as an agent of socialization the
responsibility to contain what it releases has not been of importance. The media s socially
significant obligations are formally ignored. (A.S. Zapesotskii, 2011, p 9). Media messages can be
exerted through many different outlets such as TV shows, music, movies, commercials, news,
magazines, games which are all gravitated to entertain audiences ultimately offering personal
gratification that can sometimes blur the lines between reality and

While paintings and photography are among the most popular items many display on their walls,
there is a variety of options available when it comes to decorating walls at home. Trying the unique
souvenirs and heirlooms picture framing objects will give a home a highly personalized and unique
piece of decoration.
A custom frame displays a piece of heirloom jewelry in a very unique way instead of it being
hidden in a jewelry box. If an antique brooch is hand wrapped in a fabric mat and covered with an
ornate gold molding, it will give a very stunning display on the walls of a home.
Similarly, a vintage scarf in a frame that is handcrafted transforms an everyday accessory into a
very beautiful piece of art. These individually owned pieces which ... Show more content on

A collage display due to a wonderful arrangement in a den or in the living room will surely trigger
conversations now and again in many homes.
Picture framing can also be used as a thoughtful personalized gift. If a family loves a particular
music genre, then presenting a picture frame of their favorite artist and present it to a family
member will be a gift of its kind.
This idea is applicable for those people who are extremely rich and have unpredictable gift
preferences. For example a hip hop lover can be given a framed picture of Rick Ross coupled with
his latest music in a simple wood shadowbox. This gift will be considered as a timeless gift that
they will forever cherish and display forever in their study rooms, living rooms and offices.
A wall decoration does not necessarily need to be kept solely for photographs and paintings. If you
are looking to decorate the interior of a house with something different other than oil painting or
watercolor, then picture framing of treasured family memories is a really wonderful way to
transcend a keepsake into a mouth watering piece of

DГaz s Negative Portrayal of Sexuality in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao The Brief
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot DГaz is a story about an overweight nerd from a New
Jersey ghetto who is an aspiring writer and who dreams of finding love. Oscar s journey to find
love is plagued by the fukГє, a Dominican curse believed to be placed on his family for
generations. In the Dominican society, the typical Dominican male is characterized as being
sexually active, powerful and charming, and a woman s value is largely based on her sexuality
and appeal to men. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao has two main female characters, Beli

Racial Discrimination During The 20th Century
Starting in 1501, white Portuguese men enslaved over five million Africans and brought them back
to Brazil to work on sugar plantations, creating a power dynamic that has lasted for centuries. After
nearly four hundred years of slavery, freed black men and women were left with no education, place
to live, or family, placing them at an economic disadvantage from the beginning. In the late
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, following emancipation, white men began to procreate
with indigenous and African women, creating a mixed or mulatto race, which led to the false
identification of Brazilas a country with a racial democracy. However, darker skinned individuals
still remained at the bottom of the racial hierarchy, facing systems of social, economic, and
educational discrimination. The racial inequalities, products of historical legacy, have resulted in a
society that has severe racial stratifications and continues to subject Afro Brazilians to prejudice,
poverty, and police brutality. Although racial discrimination in contemporary Brazilian society is
pervasive, particularly noticeable in the lack of economic and social mobility, discrimination is not
a new phenomenon in Brazil, but rather the culmination of 500 years of historical inequities rooted
in slavery, eugenics, immigration policy, the process of miscegenation, and the myth of racial
democracy . Brazil s racial history has led to the formation of a society in which darker skinned
individuals face

The Battle Between Cell in the Body and Pathogens in the...
A constant battle occurs between the cells in the body and the pathogens in the environment. As
a result, humans have evolved a very complex immune system to protect against the pathogens.
Some of the cells that make up the adaptive immune system are the T cells and B cells. They are
the body s defence against pathogens at a cellular level by recognising a range of features which
may be present on a pathogen and are able to facilitate the destruction of the pathogen by binding
to it. Additionally, the cells need to be able to identify a wide range of antigens and to produce a
large response to the antigen when the correct antibody is produced(Chaplin, 2010). In this essay,
the mechanism of T and C cell development will be investigated and the development of T cells
and B cells will be compared and contrasted.
T and B cells both begin development in the bone marrow as haematopoietic stem cells(Liu et al.,
2013). The cells that will become T cells then migrate to the thymus where they mature and the B
cells stay in the bone marrow to mature. The function of each cell type is similar in that they both
need to protect the body against pathogens; however the mechanisms that they do this differ. T cells
bind to antigens from the pathogen presented by MHC molecules whereas B cells produce
antibodies from the pathogen directly and do not need the antigen to be presented by another cell.
Both T and B cells need to undergo tolerance tests to make sure they won t be reactive to self

Poetry Analysis OfFacing It, By Yusef Kounyakaa
Memories can haunt someone In the poem Facing It , by the poet Yusef Komunyakaa, he
himself is the one who is speaking, the poem is about his own life experience at the Vietnam
Memorial. The way a person can tell if the own poet of the poem is the speaker is by the use of I
, or first person throughout the poem. In this case, the poet uses words like I and I m that support
the fact that he is the speaker. The Vietnam War was a Historical event taken place in Vietnam,

American s survived. For Komunyakaa all his bad and painful experience is coming back to him to
hurt him, as he is visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

name engraved on the black granite wall, as he feels like part of him is gone and left behind in
the War. In Facing It Komunyakaa memories from the War are coming to him and the memories
are affecting his life style in the sense of haunting him/ hurting him with the use of imagery,
metaphors, similes and personifications throughout the poem. To begin, in the poem there is a
lot of use of imagery, as the speaker wants the readers to see the same things as him rather than
told. Komunyakaa is visiting the Vietnam Veteran s Memorial, where the names are engraved
of those soldiers that have passed away, or were never found as they have been missing during
the Vietnam War. The granite where the names are on is black. Komunyakaa himself, is an

the black granite (1 2). He is experiencing a loss of identity, for the fact that there is no contrast
between his face and the black granite because he see s that he blends in. Another image is that
Yusef Komunyakaa had in mind that he will not cry or be emotional as he is acknowledging the

Relevance And Authenticity Of Instruction
M Relevance and authenticity in instruction really stood out as memorable to me this week. It is
mentioned that connection to real meaning can make or break learning (Reiser and Dempsey, p.
58). I completely agree that teaching skills in isolation or without any real connection can result in
temporary memorization, but no long term retention or the ability to transfer that knowledgeto new
situations. I appreciate the authors pointing out that to maximize the likelihood of meaningful
learningoccurring, students need to ... work on problems that a) mean something to them
personally and b) are rich and complex enough to invoke real expertise (Reiser and Dempsey, p.
58). If students are shown that the knowledge is relevant and needed in real world situations, they
are more likely to internalize the information for long term use. This is an area that I need to make
sure is addressed in my instruction going forward.
A I agreed with Reiser and Dempsey (p 352) when they discussed that everyone in a group learns
information in different ways. While this statement in the text was referring to assistive
technologies, I believe it is true of any learner. There are many different styles of learning and
preferences for acquiring and demonstrating knowledge. To provide students with the most effective
learning environment, it is best to provide choices in how to interact with information. Some
students may benefit from having access to PowerPoint presentations while

The 3 states, solids, liquids and gases have a different type of kinetic energy.
KINETIC THEORY OF GASES.
1) gases consist of a very large number of extremely small particles (molecules) which are in state
of continuous rapid motions.
2) The molecules move in straight lines until they collide with one another or with the wall of the
container.
3) The collisions are perfectly elastc ie. There is no change in the total energy as a result of a

4) The distances between the molecules are largecompared to their size. The supposition is
indicated by the great compressibility of gases.
5) The molecules are so far apart the the attractive forces between them are neligible.
KINETIC THEORY OF LIQUIDS.
The main difference between liquids and gases is that the molecules in a liquid are much closer
together. Therfore the molecules in a liquid are less free to move about independently. The
velocities of the molecules will be continually changing as a result of the collisions.
Many molecules will have the average welocities, whilst some will have either a greater or slower

3.2.2 Quantitative VS Qualitative
According to Yin (2003), there are two types of research approach. This includes quantitative
research approach and qualitative research approach. A quantitative research emphasizes on
transforming the data to numbers, quantities and statistics to formulate facts and to uncover
patterns in a research. It addresses research purposes through empirical analysis that involve
numerical measurement, the relationship between variables and analysis approaches (Zikmund et
al., 2010). The sample size being investigated is typically large (Anderson, 2006). Quantitative
research mainly uses questionnaires, surveys and other equipment to collect numerical or
measurable data (Anderson, 2006). On the other hand, a qualitative research typically emphasizes
words more than numbers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The form of this research thus relies more on quality instead of quantity. The data is obtained from
relatively small samples and is normally not analyzed with statistical technique. This type of
research is normally to answer how or why questions (Yin, 2003). The methods of collecting data
sources are mainly interviewing, focus groups, observation and document reviews (Meurer et al.,
2007). The main purpose of this kind of research is to gather an in depth understanding of the
phenomenon studied and to describe the situation through detailed information (Adar, 2011). The
purpose of this study is to gain insightful information in order to have a better understanding on
how internal and external factors influence SME s in choosing the right market entry mode.
Therefore, the author regarded that the qualitative is the most suitable to understand how the
factors affecting entry mode choices. In addition, this study has no intention to test statistically

Swimming Pools Budget Cut
Although nobody likes to cut the budget, I feel our budget can be cut in many different ways.
We need to split the budget of the swimming pools in half because six public pools is a lot for
one town and it s too expensive. We need to cut some of the youth programs like the high school
incentive programs because students shouldn t have to be rewarded to get good grades they
should just get them. We should only have two additional police officers instead of three because
two is enough for this city and we don t want to go over budget and have too many police officers.
I decided that we should have three public swimming pools instead of six. Six is too many pools
and we could use the money on something else more important than swimming. The

Viktor Frankl and the Development of Logotherapy
Viktor Emil Frankl was born on March, 26th 1905, at Czeringassa 7, in Leopoldstadt, in Vienna
Austria, where Sigmund Freud and Alfred Alder also grew up (Klingberg, 2014). He was the
middle child out of three children. His older brother, Walter was two and a half years older, and
his younger sister, Stella, was four years younger. His mother was Elsa Frankl, was a polish
woman from Prague with a gentle manner. His father, Gabriel Frankl, had been a hard working
man who was the Director of Social Affairs (Redsand, 2006). By the time Frankl was four years
old he knew he wanted to be a doctor and he pursued that interest while into high school. He took
classes focused on psychology and philosophy. He began corresponding with Freud when he was...

He then developed what he called paradoxical intention. Paradoxical intention is a method which
encourages one to image themselves pushing into their fear rather than running from it, such as
a patient suffering from insomnia (Pg.112, Frankl, 2006). Instead of focusing on falling asleep
the patient would be asked to focus very hard on staying awake. The success of the paradoxical
intention is called dereflection, which is when the patient is focused back on the task. He met
his wife, Tilly Grossner, a nurse at the hospital, and they were married in 1941, and she was
pregnant shortly after. In 1942 he was granted a visa to the United States, which would get him
safely away from the concentration camps; however the visa was only good for him. He went to
his father who had a block of marble from the ruins of a burned down synagogue. The marble had
an etching of part of one of the Ten Commandments, which Viktor inquired about. The marble
represented the commandment Honor thy father and mother that thy days may be long upon the
land. (Pg.11, Frankl, 2006). Upon hearing this Viktor decided to stay with his family. The Nazis
had forced Tilly to have an abortion as Jews weren t allowed to have children (Redsand, 2006).
Frankl began working on a book titled The Doctor and the Soul and sewed it into his jacket to
keep it hidden. The manuscript was the basic fundamentals of his logotheory. In July of the same
year later his family was deported to the

The Kansas State University Orchestra Conducted
I recently attended the Kansas State University Orchestra conducted by Dr. David Littrell and
graduate student Travis Hale. The orchestra featured four pieces, Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D
Minor composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Petite Suite composed by Claude Debussy arranged
by Henri Busser, Overture to La Gazza Ladra(The Thieving Magpie) composed by Gioachino
Rossini, and Overture to Le roi d Ys composed by Edouard Lalo. The first piece of music
performed was the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very
conjunct and smooth. The pitches fit together well and were played staccato, but in the Air,
portion the melody became more legato. Since a suite is a collection of dances this is very
metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat. Every movement of this suite
was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple meter because the continuo,
played by the double bass, could be counted into four. The dynamics were very moderate staying
within the range of forte and piano, which is typical of the baroque period when this piece was
written. The piece was polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked together to
make the piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and Gigue
movements. The violins and woodwinds would play a part of the melody and then the brass and
bass would come in with a short response to their melody. The next piece performed was Petite Suite

Big Five Surveys
I took the Big Five questionnaire and the LIFE survey. Both of these surveys collect self
reported data (S data). Self reported data is very beneficial to researchers in that it allows them to
gain knowledge only known by the individual. Questionnaires and surveys which provide S data
are limited by the answers provided. It is easy to lie or skirt the truth when self reporting data. In
my opinion, the Big Five questionnaire was a more accurate assessment of my personality than was
the assessment from the LIFE survey. The Big Five questionnaire measures personality factors in
five dimensions; openness, contentiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. The
score on the Big Five purportedly indicates how well a person fits into their... Show more content on

The LIFE survey was very similar to the Big Five in that it measures personality in multiple
dimensions and then gives a numerical score for each dimension. The dimensions on the LIFE
survey are suburbanite, cultured, slacker, and preppie. In the suburbanite dimension, I scored 8
out of 13. According to the survey, people who score higher in the suburbanite dimension live a
more conventional life style and tend to be more family oriented and conservative than those
who score lower. I agree with this score. I tend to be more of a homebody and I enjoy cooking,
which is a sign of a suburbanite. I scored 2 out of 13 in the cultured dimension which I disagree
with. The interpretation of my low cultured score contradicts the interpretation of my low
slacker score. Cultured people try to better the world around them by attending museums,
volunteering, and writing letters. People who score low in this dimension as I did, are assumed
to be the kind of people who eat too much junk food and watch too much TV. The discrepancy
probably arose due to my introversion tendencies, as cultured people are purportedly expressive
and vocal. I scored low, 3 out of 13, in the slacker dimension. I apparently relate better to other
humans than I do to computers, and I know that smoking and drinking in excess are bad for my
health. People who score high in the slacker dimension live unhealthy lifestyles, characterized by
their excessive use of TV, fast food, smoking, and drinking habits. I agree with my slacker score,
but this assessment of my personality in the slacker dimension directly contradicts the assessment
in the cultured dimension. I supposedly eat too much fast food and indulge in too much TV
according to my cultured score, but according to my slackers score I live a healthy life style
characterized by my infrequent indulgence in fast food, TV, smoking, and alcohol. The
contradictment of these two dimensions goes to show that it is

Sexual Roles And Roles Of Women
Question 1
Lovemaking
First the word, lovemaking, has a sex role attached to it, which comes from one or another person
being the dominant one. Lovemaking is dominated by the woman. The male is the passive one.
These two roles can be switched when dealing with this word. Some cases women like their man to
be dominant and make love to them. On the other hand, women can play the role to show their man
how to make love to them the way the woman ultimately desires to.
Fucking
When you hear the word it has a major presence about it. The word itself has a lot of dominant
characteristics attached to it. It commands your attention when it is spoken. When we hear a word
like this and it commands your attention, it seems aggressive and men are associated with
aggressive behavior. Men are definitely the dominant person when dealing with this word. While
women are passive.
Intercourse
This word says that dominance has no specific sex role. It can go either way, depending on the
situation. Both men and women are the dominant person. There is no passive person with this
word. This words is not as commonly used as the others, but it can be used in some tenses.
Intimacy
In this case the word has a nice and delicate tone when it is said. Dealing with dominance the roles
are switched from the normal dominant person. The woman is actually the dominant one. While
the man is the passive one. This is because women tend to care more about making a connection
and having their feelings

The Character Of Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
Iago is telling Roderigo that he can get revenge, and feel better about the fact that he did not get
the job by manipulating Othello. Later, he explains to Roderigo that he is going to convince
Othello that his wife is cheating on him with Cassio and if everyone knows Desdemona cheated
on him, it would ruin his image in the eyes of the people. Not only, does Iago show that he is
exploitive and uses people to get his way,
Live Roderigo,
He calls me to a restitution large
Of gold and jewels that I bobbed from him
As gifts to Desdemona. [...] And besides, the Moor
May unfold me to him. (5.1.15 22) Iago is telling Roderigo about his plan and how it will not
only be a masterful plan if it works, but it will really hurt Othello. Being exploitive does not end
with Othello and only continues his evil plan by convincing Desdemona to defend Cassio to
Othello. She thinks that she is helping a friend get his job back and is too nice to say no to Iago,
when really Iago is telling Othello that Desdemona and Cassio are involved. The patient uses his
manipulative abilities to get his job he thinks he deserves while achieving destruction of Cassio and
Othello s life.
Once in awhile, being envious of someone is normal but in Iago s case he is too envious and it
sparks him to do irreversible damage, to the lives of those around him. The authors conclude, that
the patient with narcissistic personality disorder can show these symptoms; Is often envious of
others or believes that others

To What Extent Did Joseph Mccarthy And His Anti- Communist...
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the question To what extent did Joseph McCarthy
and his anti communist tactics have an impact on United States society? I will cover how things
in the society has changed. McCarthyism also affected domestic and foreign policies, but I am
going to focus on American society. I will focus mainly the years around the McCarthy era which
is 1950 through 1954. To help examine my topic, I will be using two books. The books are
Defining moments: McCarthyismand the Communist Threat and Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism:
The hate that haunts America The two sources will be valuable because they give a deep
understanding of what happened during the years 1950 through 1954. This books is one of
Omnigraphics Defining Moments books. Kevin Hillstrom, the author, has written many other
books, including books about history. This also shows this source is valuable because
Omnigraphics has a lot of other Defining Moment books that are about history.
The first source, Defining moments: McCarthyism and the communist Threat, by Kevin
Hillstrom, is a secondary source and was published in 2011. Books Kevin Hillstrom wrote and
edited has received awards. He not only wrote books about history, he also covered topics about
environmental issues and culture. Although the book itself is a secondary source, it contains
primary sources. There are also biographies people wrote about Joseph McCarthy and other who

Slavery American Slavery
Slavery in America has always been a widely discussed topic. Many of these discussions have be
focus on why slavery grew so rapidly between the late 1700 s and the mid 1800 s just before the
Civil War. The number of slaves in the south during the late 1700 s was approximately 500,000,
this number grew to almost four million by the 1860 s. There is evidence to support that the
perpetuation and expansion of black slavery in the United Statesbetween 1776 and 1860 was
influenced by greed, a since of white superiority, and legislation. A combination that would lead to
an eventual civil war. Greed was a major driving force in the expansion of black slaveryin the in the
18th and 19th centuries. This expansion of slavery was a cycle that would perpetuate itself.
Plantation owners would realize early on that the ownership of slave would increase their
socioeconomic status and the greed for this status was enormous. The use of slaves would create
higher profit margins for the plantation owners. With higher profits, plantation owners could
purchase more land, and with more land came the need for more labor (slaves) to operate the
larger plantation. A larger plantation would lead to owner coming into power within the local
government as a top land owner. The political power that came with local government leadership
also became lusted after. At the time, the greed for more money birthed the greed for more land,
the greed for more land birthed the greed for political power. All of

Sexuality In Wonder Woman
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer. Sexuality, and how people identify. Our sexualities
are who we are and in this society we are often hiding this aspect of us because we are worried
how we will be viewed if we are open about it. The media in today s society tries to hide it away
and act as if it does not exist. This is exactly the case from the recent Warner Brothers movie
Wonder Woman. Sexuality is hardly shown in the movie Wonder Woman, but is very prevalent
in the comics. Wonder Woman the movie should not hide the sexual aspects that the comics
show because in the comics she shows it is okay to be sexual, and to be proud of your sexuality.
Wonder Woman has been a hero who stands for who she is, this is shown, but the film hides her
ties to bondage, a part of who she is. Her authors found a sanctity in bondage, and gave this belief
to her. As Irene Javors states, Maston and Peter conveyed their unique notions of liberation
through bondage (Javors 1), her two authors, Harry Peter and William Marston both found
liberation in bondage, a freeing sense in being helpless. This concept stems from the belief of
freeing yourself by letting someone else take control, associated with the concept of submission.
This concept is shown greatly in the comic via Wonder Woman herself. She, in one comic says
On Paradise Island where we play many binding games, this is considered the safest method of
tying a girls arms By saying this, the reader gains information on Wonder Woman s background.
She grew up on an all female island and her comment stated above explains that they practiced
bondage ties. She knew what the safest way to tie someone s arms behind their back using rope,
a common form of bondage in society. Another example of bondage in the comics is when she
states That Velma is a clever girl I ought to bind her hand and foot! But if I m gone long, tight
bonds might make her uncomfortable . Diana knows that if someone is in a bondage tie for too
long that they will get uncomfortable. While yes that can be seen as common knowledge, she says
it in a manner that she knows first hand it can be uncomfortable. With three easily found examples
in the comics about Wonder Woman s ties to bondage, it raises the

My Soul Is Rested Summary
The book My soul is rested , by Howell Raines takes place during the civil rights movement in the
South. Howell Raines was a white southern journalist who interviewed many people like activist,
lawyers, and many other people in the states of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi that were
involved in the civil rights movement. As known, Rosa Parkswas the person who sparked the civil
rights movement by refusing to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus for the one white
citizen that was left standing on the bus. Unfortunately she was arrested, fingerprinted,
incarcerated, and trialed over this situation. Because of Rosa Parks courage on December 1, 1955
people are now able to ride, sit, and coexists with other nonblack people. Just like two of the many
activists, Horton (white) and Malone Jones (black), were two important characters in the civil rights
movements. The Civil Rights Movement was a social movementin the U.S. to end racial
segregation and discrimination against blacks. Raines wrote this book in order for people to tell
their side of their story in the civil rights movement. This book is about political and social history.
It s also a tribute to everyone that made history happen. Myles Hortonwas one of the many people
interviewed by Raines in My Soul is Rested . Horton was born in East Tennessee and founded

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
In the classic film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas , two eccentric characters, journalist Raoul
Duke and his psychotic attorney Dr. Gonzo travel to Las Vegas on a job and in search of the
American dream. Throughout the trip they find themselves in odd situations that one would not
normally encounter. Duke and Gonzo s predicaments could be explained be a wide variety of
psychological issues. One psychological concept that is a very large part of Duke and Gonzo s
trip is their excessive drug use. The movie begins with Duke narrating and driving a fire apple
red convertible that they rented, in the desert around Bartslow, California. It was then, he stated,
the drugs began to take hold. In the first five minutes of the movie Duke opens the trunk of the
car, while swatting at bats that weren t there and does an inventory of the drugs packed in a suit
case. The suitcase included 2 bags of grass, 75 pellets of Mescaline, 5 sheets of high powered
blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers,
reamers and laughers, one quarter tequila, one quarter rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and
2 dozen amyls (Fear and Loathing). The serious drug collection they had was to push them as far
as they could go. Duke and Gonzo had such a high tolerance to multiple drugs that they could take
these large amounts without serious consequences. Every drug they took fell into one of the four
major drug classes. Opiates, depressants,

Yes If Citibank is striving to reach its goal of achieving $100 million in earnings by 1990, introducing a credit card into the Asia Pacific market would be an effective means of achieving this goal. The case for launching the card product can be made based on a few reasons. First, as can be seen in the information presented in Exhibit 4, many of the countries Citibank is considering launching in have fairly high projected growth rates (with some as high as 8 and 9 percent). Another reason that promotes the case for Citibank s card launch is the fact that there is a fairly low penetration of credit cards in the existing markets, as can be seen in the data presented in exhibit 8 of the case. A woman supporting her children, with no man as head of the household was not viewed as domestic; she was degraded for not marrying and having children out of wedlock. Along with new medical standards and safety measures, followers of Wilhelm RГ¶ntgen (the inventor of the X ray) discovered the properties of X radiation (Hart 48 50). Mr. Warshofsky does for the workers by bringing in Norma Rae what perhaps, the consultants A.T. Kearney did with the company insiders for Walmart (Clemens et al, 2000). How Social Media Has Changed Today s Society Social Networking Cassandra Johnson INF/103 Computer Literacy Janet Parr 09/10/2016 There has been a large growth in technology, communication has grown drastically. It is easier and in most cases cheaper to communicate with others through the world wide web. If you have family members who complain about the cost of travel to visit, distance is no longer an excuse for not communicating and staying in contact with the people you love. In my essay, I will list many ways to communicate with others on the internet. Here you can share pictures, ideas, text messages, and pictures with many people at the same time. Social media is very popular in today s society. There are many social media sites that people use today in order to communicate with others, like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, SnapChat, Pinterest, and YouTube to name a few that I use daily. My first article discusses the relationship between the use of Facebook, which is a very popular online social network. Social network sites such as Friendster, Cyworld, and Myspace allows individuals to present themselves, articulate their social networks, and establish connections with others (Lampe, Ellison, Steinfield,2007). • 33. The Battle Between Cell in the Body and Pathogens in the... A constant battle occurs between the cells in the body and the pathogens in the environment. As a result, humans have evolved a very complex immune system to protect against the pathogens. Some of the cells that make up the adaptive immune system are the T cells and B cells. They are the body s defence against pathogens at a cellular level by recognising a range of features which may be present on a pathogen and are able to facilitate the destruction of the pathogen by binding to it. Additionally, the cells need to be able to identify a wide range of antigens and to produce a large response to the antigen when the correct antibody is produced(Chaplin, 2010). In this essay, the mechanism of T and C cell development will be investigated and the development of T cells and B cells will be compared and contrasted. T and B cells both begin development in the bone marrow as haematopoietic stem cells(Liu et al., 2013). The cells that will become T cells then migrate to the thymus where they mature and the B cells stay in the bone marrow to mature. The function of each cell type is similar in that they both need to protect the body against pathogens; however the mechanisms that they do this differ. T cells bind to antigens from the pathogen presented by MHC molecules whereas B cells produce antibodies from the pathogen directly and do not need the antigen to be presented by another cell. Both T and B cells need to undergo tolerance tests to make sure they won t be reactive to self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Facing It Komunyakaa memories from the War are coming to him and the memories are affecting his life style in the sense of haunting him/ hurting him with the use of imagery, metaphors, similes and personifications throughout the poem. To begin, in the poem there is a lot of use of imagery, as the speaker wants the readers to see the same things as him rather than told. The granite where the names are on is black. Komunyakaa himself, is an African American so he see s that his face is disappearing, My black face fades,/ hiding inside the black granite (1 2). He is experiencing a loss of identity, for the fact that there is no contrast between his face and the black granite because he see s that he blends in. It is mentioned that connection to real meaning can make or break learning (Reiser and Dempsey, p. 58). I completely agree that teaching skills in isolation or without any real connection can result in temporary memorization, but no long term retention or the ability to transfer that knowledgeto new situations. I appreciate the authors pointing out that to maximize the likelihood of meaningful learningoccurring, students need to ... work on problems that a) mean something to them personally and b) are rich and complex enough to invoke real expertise (Reiser and Dempsey, p. 58). If students are shown that the knowledge is relevant and needed in real world situations, they are more likely to internalize the information for long term use. This is an area that I need to make sure is addressed in my instruction going forward. A I agreed with Reiser and Dempsey (p 352) when they discussed that everyone in a group learns information in different ways. While this statement in the text was referring to assistive technologies, I believe it is true of any learner. There are many different styles of learning and preferences for acquiring and demonstrating knowledge. To provide students with the most effective learning environment, it is best to provide choices in how to interact with information. It addresses research purposes through empirical analysis that involve numerical measurement, the relationship between variables and analysis approaches (Zikmund et al., 2010). The first piece of music performed was the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very conjunct and smooth. The pitches fit together well and were played staccato, but in the Air, portion the melody became more legato. Since a suite is a collection of dances this is very metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat. Every movement of this suite was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple meter because the continuo, played by the double bass, could be counted into four. The dynamics were very moderate staying within the range of forte and piano, which is typical of the baroque period when this piece was written. The piece was polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked together to make the piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and Gigue movements. The interpretation of my low cultured score contradicts the interpretation of my low slacker score. Cultured people try to better the world around them by attending museums, volunteering, and writing letters. People who score low in this dimension as I did, are assumed to be the kind of people who eat too much junk food and watch too much TV. The discrepancy probably arose due to my introversion tendencies, as cultured people are purportedly expressive and vocal. I scored low, 3 out of 13, in the slacker dimension. People who score high in the slacker dimension live unhealthy lifestyles, characterized by their excessive use of TV, fast food, smoking, and drinking habits. Many of these discussions have be focus on why slavery grew so rapidly between the late 1700 s and the mid 1800 s just before the Civil War. The number of slaves in the south during the late 1700 s was approximately 500,000, this number grew to almost four million by the 1860 s. There is evidence to support that the perpetuation and expansion of black slavery in the United Statesbetween 1776 and 1860 was influenced by greed, a since of white superiority, and legislation. A combination that would lead to an eventual civil war. Greed was a major driving force in the expansion of black slaveryin the in the 18th and 19th centuries. This expansion of slavery was a cycle that would perpetuate itself. Plantation owners would realize early on that the ownership of slave would increase their socioeconomic status and the greed for this status was enormous. The use of slaves would create higher profit margins for the plantation owners. With higher profits, plantation owners could purchase more land, and with more land came the need for more labor (slaves) to operate the larger plantation. A larger plantation would lead to owner coming into power within the local government as a top land owner. The political power that came with local government leadership also became lusted after. • 54. Sexuality In Wonder Woman Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer. Sexuality, and how people identify. Our sexualities are who we are and in this society we are often hiding this aspect of us because we are worried how we will be viewed if we are open about it. The media in today s society tries to hide it away and act as if it does not exist. This is exactly the case from the recent Warner Brothers movie Wonder Woman. Sexuality is hardly shown in the movie Wonder Woman, but is very prevalent in the comics. Wonder Woman the movie should not hide the sexual aspects that the comics show because in the comics she shows it is okay to be sexual, and to be proud of your sexuality. Wonder Woman has been a hero who stands for who she is, this is shown, but the film hides her ties to bondage, a part of who she is. Her authors found a sanctity in bondage, and gave this belief to her. As Irene Javors states, Maston and Peter conveyed their unique notions of liberation through bondage (Javors 1), her two authors, Harry Peter and William Marston both found liberation in bondage, a freeing sense in being helpless. This concept stems from the belief of freeing yourself by letting someone else take control, associated with the concept of submission. This concept is shown greatly in the comic via Wonder Woman herself. She, in one comic says On Paradise Island where we play many binding games, this is considered the safest method of tying a girls arms By saying this, the reader gains information on Wonder Woman s background. She grew up on an all female island and her comment stated above explains that they practiced bondage ties. She knew what the safest way to tie someone s arms behind their back using rope, a common form of bondage in society. Another example of bondage in the comics is when she states That Velma is a clever girl I ought to bind her hand and foot! But if I m gone long, tight bonds might make her uncomfortable . Diana knows that if someone is in a bondage tie for too long that they will get uncomfortable. While yes that can be seen as common knowledge, she says it in a manner that she knows first hand it can be uncomfortable. With three easily found examples in the comics about Wonder Woman s ties to bondage, it raises the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the trip they find themselves in odd situations that one would not normally encounter. Duke and Gonzo s predicaments could be explained be a wide variety of psychological issues. In the first five minutes of the movie Duke opens the trunk of the car, while swatting at bats that weren t there and does an inventory of the drugs packed in a suit case. The suitcase included 2 bags of grass, 75 pellets of Mescaline, 5 sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, reamers and laughers, one quarter tequila, one quarter rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and 2 dozen amyls (Fear and Loathing). The serious drug collection they had was to push them as far as they could go.
