Toddlers and preschoolers are at different developmental stages, and therefore require their
teachers to use different approaches and techniques to further learning. I completed my
observations at the Bright and Early Children s Learning Center where I observed a toddler
classroom and a preschool classroom. My observations took place from 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. on
the 21st and 28th of September. The first day that I observed I was placed in the toddler
classroom which had two teachers, Miss Ashlynn and Miss Miranda, and six students, most of
whom were two years old. In the preschool classroom there was one teacher, Miss Stephanie, and
eight students, each of whom were 3 years old or 4 years old. While the rooms were physically
similar, the teachers used different strategies and activities to appeal to the different age groups. In
the toddler classroom, the children interacted with each other, however many of them were more
interested in playing and exploring on their own. The children enjoyed free playat learningcenters,

Sir Carnell headed for the keep.
Aurelia followed him across the bridge. They went into the keep then into the hall. Sir Carnell
went to the dais where the King and Queen sat. Aurelia took a seat at the small table that was set up
below.
Sir Carnell looked up at his king. Yes, your highness?
Respectful? Aurelia carved the word into her tablet, though it left a bad taste in her mouth.
You re coming with me, said Richard. He stood and descended the steps.
Special? Aurelia lifted her stylus to write, but stopped. Special was too general.
Queen Fayre waved at Aurelia. Hi, Aurelia! Did you write something?
Aurelia? said Richard. He leaned on the table. Didn t notice you come in.
Aurelia smiled at him and slid her tablet off the table and into her lap. She looked up at Fayre. Uh,

not yet. I m still thinking.
Alright, said Fayre. Good luck. She looked to Richard. Richard, what color do you think I look best
in?
Richard stayed silent for a moment. Eh, white?
Fayre rolled her eyes. No I don t. That ll blend into my skin. You know what? Nevermind. She
looked to Sir Carnell. Sir Carnell, what color do you think I look best in?
Any color?
