Kallistos Ware Beliefs
One of the most important characteristics of faith that Kallistos Ware highlights is the idea that
much, if not all, of one s relationship with God, is based off of instinctive feelings as opposed to
other feasible elements. As Ware states, Faith is not the supposition that something might be true,
but the assurance that someone is there. Faithin God, as Ware explains in this quotation, is not
merely believing in God due to elements of scripture or teaching, but is instead something that
occurs after personal experiences that provide a basis for the presence of God in one s life.
Additionally, these personal experiences not only need to occur, but also need to be interpreted and
attributed to God. However, this can be difficult for many,

First Lollipop Research Papers
The first incarnation of the lollipop was probably created by cave people thousands of years ago
who collected honey from beehives with a stick Not wanting to waste the sweet nectar they
most likely licked the stick thus inventing the world s first lollipop Good for them (good for us)
Archaeologists believe that ancient Chinese Arabs and Egyptians all produced fruit and nut
confections that they candied in honey which serves as a preservative and inserted sticks into to
make easier to eat If the 17th Century English version doesn t count as the first modern lollipop
you could look to the Civil War era for another early forerunner when hard candy was put on the
tips of pencils for children The early 20th Century was the era of automation which is when the
birth of the lollipop as we now know it begins in earnest but there are still discrepancies as to who
is the true creator In the 17th Century as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In approximately 1912 Russian immigrant Samuel Born invented a machine that inserted sticks
into candy The machine was called the Born Sucker Machine and the City of San Francisco
considered it so innovative that they awarded him the keys to the city in 1916 George Smith
owner of a confectionary company called the Bradley Smith Company took credit for inventing
the modern version of the lollipop which he began making in 1908 and in 1931 he trademarked
the term lollipop borrowing the name from a famous race horse named Lolly Pop which is
when the term lollipop finally connects back to the 17th Century phrase ( Tongue slap

competition for the title creator of the lollipop but regardless who gets credit for it it s here to
stay and it s currently one of the most popular candies in existence Modern companies such as the
Spangler Candy Company (creator of Dum Dums, Saf T Pops, and other favorites) can produce up

Is Blanche A Likeable Character
A Street Car Named Desire Is Blanche a likeable character? It is an interesting question. Her past
is less than desirable: A husband who has committed suicide, countless sexual encounters with
men who wanted her for one reason and one reason only, a sense of utter loneliness, and a very
distinct belief that she is better than all others around her. Blanche heads to visit Stella and
Stanley in an effort to start a new, and cleanse herself of the past; when in fact what she finds is
much worse than the ghosts of her past. In the first scenes, Blanche is very unlikable and is
portrayed as a jealous sister, who can t be happy for anyone. It is hard to feel sympathetic to
Blanche; yet easy to feel sympathetic for everyone but her, due to her treatment... Show more

Blanche has just lost her last chance to be stable financially, emotionally and physically. The
reader can most likely relate on some level with a loss of something once loved. The most
shocking parts of the play take place in the last few scenes when Stanley takes out the ultimate
aggression and abuse of power on Blanche; he rapes her while her sister is in labor with his child.
This is a very hard concept to grasp. How could Stanley be so evil? Have so much hate? Do this
to Blanche, Stella and his son? These are all questions the reader may ask themselves; while
most likely having sympathy for Blanche after experiencing such a violent act. It is in the last
scene when Blanche is torn down repeatedly; here she may receive even more sympathy.
Blanche has told Stella of what Stanley did to her, but Stella does not believe her. Blanche s
behavior toward the poker players and during her bath reflects the way being raped by Stanley has
scarred her. In the beginning of the play, Blanche craves the attention of the poker players. By its
end, she wants to be invisible and hopes they won t notice her. Blanche spends much of Scene
Eleven in the bath; as she has done this many times before, this time was different. Blanche was
attempting to wash away Stanley s recent violation rather than her past sexual

President Woodrow Wilson s Decision To Go To War Against...
The United States Senate voted eighty two to six to go to war against Germany. World War I
started in 1914. President Woodrow Wilson was a fan of French and English history, but he still
signed a pledge, that stated America s neutrality. American corporations were already selling
military weapons to both sides of the war. Sadly, President Wilson did not take action against this.
At this point in time, America and Great Britain were the best of trading partners. Germany was not
happy with his arrangement. Germany quickly surrounded Great Britain. Germany sunk and shot
down many of America s ships. On January 8th,1917 Germany had announced that they had sunk
the ship named William P. Frye. The ship was on its way to Great Britain carrying

Biography Of Auguste Rodin s The Gates Of Hell
Auguste Rodin has a number of awe inspiring pieces, ranging in medium, size, and location.
Outside the massive cluster in Paris, they pop up in the most unusual places, such as
Philadelphia, Seoul, Tokyo, and Raleigh. What is even more interesting is that many of Rodin s
pieces were designed to be part of a single great piece, a massive pair of doors, intended for an art
museum that grew into something much more. This piece is Rodin s Gates of Hell. The gates are
particularly significant to the world of art, not only for the sculptural mastery they display, but also
for being a rather revolutionary piece in regards to the physical build and the emotion provocation.
They display the characteristic Rodin flair for emotional content, perhaps... Show more content on

In his creation techniques, Rodin used a casting technique, where he would first make the sculpture
out of clay or plaster, and then it to someone else to be cast and glazed into the blackened bronze
look he is so well known for. Perhaps this spare time allowed him to create more prolifically, as
he made multiple copies of many pieces, ranging in size. He would also often also combine
separate pieces with modification to create a new piece, many of which are well known. His
gates are remarkable because of this dedication, taking the typical relief method of only having
only slight amounts of depth created, to having the surface of the gates roiling with sinners
pulling away from the slab, their bodies protruding outwards. Theses gates excluded a number of
motifs from a variety of places, which leads, in turn, back to speculation on the influences Rodin
had while designing them. The main influences on the gates include Rodin s personal and
professional life, The Inferno, and artists and writers of the times. A relief is a sculpture done on
a slab, with rationally layer being taken away or added to create depth, without any main
protrusions from the slab. Casting is a complex process, but ultimately results in in a hollow metal
replica of the sculpted. The pieces are ground down to remove any imperfections, then finished with
coats of metal oxides, known as a patina, that react with the bronze and produces the

Political Conflict In Riyadh And Iran
The latest developments that just unfolded in Riyadh are unsettling and carry a high risk of a
regional confrontation. An assertive Saudi crown prince is determined to consolidate power by
purging dissidents at home while escalating rhetoric abroad.
Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil,
is challenging an emboldened Iranian regime whose armed proxies have been strengthening their
hold from the Levant to Yemen. While these circumstances are tantamount to an imminent war
scenario between Riyadh and Tehran, there are indications that it might not actually be the case.
On November 4, within the span of few hours, two major events took place: Lebanese Prime

Two Saudi ambassadors in Iraq and Lebanon were appointed last week, showing a willingness to
engage. On October 25, Saudi Arabia and Iran finally agreed to have the Swiss government as a
go between for consular and diplomatic services, after breaking off diplomatic ties in early 2016.
Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore
a new market. A military confrontation with Iran is counterproductive to Saudi engagement in Iraq.
While in Syria, Saudi Arabia has been keeping a low profile with an influence restricted to elements
in the exiled civilian opposition.
Third, a confrontation is not in Iran s interest for now. The Iranian regime, which has been more
united since President Hassan Rouhani s reelection in May, is focused on reaping the economic
benefits of the nuclear deal and preserving the gains made in Syria.
Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of Iran s Revolutionary Guard, announced on October 31 that
Iran will be restricting its long range missiles to 2,000km, which can reach Israel and US interests
in the Middle East. The move was meant to reassure European countries that are beyond that
missile range.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited Tehran on November 1, convinced Tehran to tone
down the rhetoric against the US. While Russia is focused on advancing a political solution in
Syria, Iran sees that the Syrian war will

contributing factors to low teacher turnover, however, the main issue is a lack of support and

Oman And The Middle East Stratum
Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key strategic space in the Middle East stratum.
With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep cliffs along the coast, Oman over the years
has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has allowed Oman to repel the majority of attacks
from foreign militaries and maintain their sovereignty. The Southern and Eastern coastline of the
country represents the key that makes Omanso important to the strength of the Middle East. Oman
is a major piece to the peace in the Middle East. Oman lies in the southeast corner of the Arabian
Peninsula right on the Tropic of Cancer latitude line (International, 2011). Yemen, Saudi Arabia
, and
the United Arab Emiratesborder Oman from the southeast, west, and the north. Oman also claims
many islands in the Arabian Sea and in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman s northern tip. Similar to its
surrounding nations, Oman has a mountain range that spans the country. The Hajar mountain range
begins at the north west tip and extends down its western border to the southwest, near Yemen
(International, 2011). The Omanis compare The Hajar to a human backbone, for it forms a great
arc much like the human skeleton. The Interior of Oman is mostly sand dunes, rocks, and gravel,
which is very similar to the entire Middle East region (International, 2011). Oman s coastline
stretches 1,700 km from North to South. Low hills and wastelands with little vegetation is what fill
these coastlines

Review Of Ice Age
Ice Age
Chapter One
The green garbage truck pulled up into a long winding ramp like driveway, the special clamps on
his wheels dug into the ice that encased the world in a snowy ice age. At five in the morning this
house seemed eerily silent, even for five A.M. The truck driver sighed. He felt sorry for this
family. In fact, he d been briefed on them this morning at his office on the 61st floor of The World
Building. Mr. Abdallah had been fired yesterday, from his job as a government official on the
98th floor. His income had gone down drastically, and the garbage man, lowly as he was had
heard that it was unlikely Mr. Abdallah would ever be hired again. With a heavy heart the young
man got out of his truck hooked up the garbage can, flipped it into the trucked and returned it.
Shawn Abdallah walked to school as usual. He rode the packed shut elevator to floor 9 as usual. He
trudged down the hall to Ms. Sweeney s class as usual. Yet his father s words rang in his ears.
You can only go to private school for three months. Then you can go public school for three
more, on floor 17. Or you can try public school for nine. Then it s homeschool for you. I m sorry.
We just don t have the money anymore. Shawn plunked himself down in his seat and let out a long
sigh. He didn t know how he would make it through the day without someone teasing him too much
about his father losing his job. Just two days ago, police had stormed through his house, taking
Shawn s parent s turban and

unconventional, this is not a major departure from mainstream Christianity, since God is believed

William Bradford Hardships
William Bradford created a detailed picture in our minds of the hardships the Pilgrims endured,
especially during their adventures on the Mayflower and Speedwell to find new land in hopes of
escaping England s control. Between furious seas, disease stricken passengers, and a cracked
beam on the Mayflower, the hope Pilgrims once had, was almost lost. Only the writings of William
Bradford could allow us to see what grueling torment our ancestors had to overcome.
Some of the many hardships that the sailors and passengers endured included furious storms,
terrible seasickness, abuse from the sailors and crew, dehydration and overall misery. The lack of
drinking water in combination with seasickness and no sanitation quickly grasped the bodies on
board. Drinking only beer, and lots of it, enabled the sailors and crewmembers to no point of
responsible reaction to mending the ship. Centuries ago, beer was so unfiltered that only a cup
would be enough to enable a child. Of course with drunkenness comes irresponsibility, and I m
certain rape was common upon the ship as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to land due to too much water intake. This left a damper on the precious time that was wasted
traveling back. Now two months late, the Mayflower is returning to sea with even more passengers
than anticipated. After making it halfway across the Atlantic, a storm ultimately demanded the
surrender of the Mayflower and a harsh wave cracked the main beam holding the ship together.
Religious Pilgrims thought these the were signs from their God, granting them the oppression they
deserved for their un Christian acts on board. Soon enough they would find land. But by the time
they would arrive the winters cruel frost and the overcoming diseases would take the lives of most

Ancient Mystery of Malaria
Ancient Mystery of Malaria
Malaria is a disease that has wrought history since the dawn of time itself. It has conquered some of
the mightiest warlords in history including Tutankhamen, Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun and
Genghis Khan. The earliest records of malaria symptoms date back to 2700 BCE, first described in
the Nei Ching, an ancient Chinese medical script. The Chinese described the prominent symptoms
of malaria, discussing the connection between recurring fevers and enlarged spleens. In 1550
BCE the Ebers Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian medical script, mentioned patients suffering from
fevers, shivering, vomiting, convulsions and also enlarged spleens. In 600 BCE records of
malaria like fevers rampant in Mesopotamia were found documented on cuneiform tablets. By 400
BCE the symptoms of malaria became widely recognizable in Ancient Greece, where malaria was
held responsible for huge population declines in large cities and states. Hippocrates, traditionally
regarded as the father of modern medicine, documented the main symptoms of malaria and made
extensive notes in the literature of the time. He was also the first to recognise the relationship
between occurrences of fevers and close proximity to stagnant waters. The Romans also discovered
this connection between fevers and swampy marshes and notably pioneered the first preventative
efforts against malaria by draining these swamps. Thus from the medieval Italian language the term
malaria was coined: mala aria

On April 22nd, 1970, the American public gathered in the streets to celebrate clean air, water, and

Nixon administration was laboring at what would become the capstone of environmental policy, the
EPA. While Earth Day was the launch of environmentalism in the modern sense, individuals had
been combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau

subsequent nature writings are judged. John Muir, father of the American preservationist

skyrocketed, and people found themselves living on the edge of parks and nature. The public began
to question whether the government was working to preserve untouched land for future
generations. When Rachel Carson published Silent Spring in 1962, the era of environmentalism
was born. This movement demanded the state not only preserve the Earth, but act to regulate and
punish those who polluted it (Farrah). The work on the pesticide poisoning of man sparked a

that people have used for it over the years. One name for it is the teleprinter which is an
Electromechanical typewriter paired with a communication channel. The next name for a TTY is
Telecommunication device for the deaf which is a teleprinter designed for people with hearing or

Empirical Formula Lab Report
Empirical Formula and Percent Composition of Magnesium Oxide
Prediction
Magnesium oxide is an ionic compound (metal cation bonded to non metal anion); therefore, we
can determine its formula using the ionic charges of magnesium (Mg2+), and oxygen (O2 ). To
comply with the octet rule, the elements combine at a ratio of 1:1;as a result, the formula is MgO
(s) . We can theoretically predict the empirical formula, and the percent composition, through this
procedure:
1) Two moles of magnesiumcombines with two moles of oxygen.
2Mg(s) + O2 (g) 2MgO(s)
Mg= 2 moles
O = 2 moles
2) Divide both values by the smallest value and place the results in ratio form. In this case, the ratio
is simply 1:1.
3) This ratio represents the number of magnesium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does not support my hypothesis, but there are possibilities why the experimental result did not
match the prediction:
There might have been unevaporated water left in the crucible, which would increase the weight of
the oxygen . For example, of the 0.06 grams of oxygen measured, 0.02 grams could have been
unevaporated water.
There might have been some unreacted magnesium. This could have happened if some
magnesium strips were covered by others, eliminating their exposure to air. Due to this, the mass
of oxygen increases since it is naturally diatomic and doubles up. For example, out of the 0.06
grams of magnesium, 0.02 grams might not have reacted. This unreacted metal allows an oxygen
(which would have otherwise been bonded to it) to double up with itself and increase the mass of
total oxygen.
Always, there could be mechanical error and human error. Since the crucible was an open system,
mass could have entered or left due to air currents, or vibrations. No matter how small, any
inaccuracy caused by these errors could have resulted in the higher measurement of oxygen
recorded in this

Article Review of VoIP Definition and Solution
VoIP Technology
This essay evaluates an analysis presented in an article discussing voice over Internet protocol
(VoIP) technology. The article, VoIP Definition and Solutions, written by PCWorld and CIO author
and editor Thomas Wailgum, describes how VoIP works, its capabilities and its applications. The
article examined the treatment of VoIP topics including its definition, objectives, systems and
solutions.
The term voice over IP refers to a technology that carries voice calls over an IP network by
digitizing and packetizing voice streams. Closely related to IP telephony and Internet telephony,
VoIP technology allows analog communications to be routed over data networks that include wide
area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and the Internet. Combining voice and data on
one network can offer the Army potential telecommunications savings and efficiencies, but there
are challenges that come with maintaining network capability, reliability, flexibility and security.
Callers connect to VoIP technology in three ways. One method uses a regular telephone, along
with a fast Internet connection, and for the individual soldier placing a call, an analog telephone
adapter or ATA. The ATA converts analog voice signals into digital packets of data to be sent over
the Internet. This application of VoIP technology is easy to set up and use, and is frequently used
by VoIP consumers.
The Army, which has many users on traditional telephones, would need to use a specialized

The selfie isn t the newest thing, it has been around since photography and self portraits started.
But in the past few years, it has been become increasingly popular, because of the rising of
smartphones and other social media sites. Since celebrities and other famous or popular people

people are so obsessed on what celebrities are doing, as if they are their idol. It s like if a celebrity
does this, the majority of people will try to copy her. Many people view celebrities as one of
their biggest role models. Celebrities can have a huge influence on society. Most of the time,
they are the ones who starts or even makes the trend more popular, typically because of their

Of these trauma survivors up to 20% develop PTSD. Put another way, approximately 13 million
Americans 5% of the population suffers from PTSD at any given time.(Goulston, 2008 ) Post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder acquired when a person becomes a
victim of some form of trauma. Trauma can come in the form of experiencing natural disasters
such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, or floods. Personal traumas such as being robbed,
assaulted, raped, physically or sexually abused, or tortured can cause PTSD. Those who have
suffered extreme illness such as Cancer and AIDS may experience it. And even those who have
watched their loved ones suffer through extreme illnesses can succumb to the disorder. They
suffer what is called a secondary trauma. It has even been recently discovered that someone
viewing media coverage of a traumatic event can even get PTSD. There were people viewing
the live coverage of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, that triggered the same types of emotional and
physical responses as if they were physically at Ground Zero! Naturally, those who have served in
the military especially those who have survived wars and gone to combat, are highly at risk for
PTSD. So what exactly is a trauma? When we think of the word trauma we often think of something
horrendous, something horrible or really, really bad. But what actually constitutes something as a

The Examined Life By Slajov Zizek
In the film The Examined Life, a compelling documentary directed by Astra Taylor, eight powerful
philosophers meander around places that are particularly special to them, as well as their ideas.
Issues discussed range from cosmopolitanism to truth, and each philosopher is given 10 minutes to
share their thoughts. Although not enough time to really connect with the philosophers, some
concrete points are made. Slajov Zizek discusses ecology and our idealization of nature, and the
critical importance and implications of how we live as humans in unison with the environment.
Slajov Zizek is filmed at a trash dump, very significant to the argument he is about to make. One of
the first things he tells viewers is that we need more alienation from... Show more content on

According to Zizek, if we can vision nature as existing as a series of catastrophes rather then
viewing it as balanced, then we may begin to acknowledge the implications of how we live
symbiotically with the environment. He stresses that as humans we must begin to recognize the
changes in the environment and adapt with them. His attempt at a resolution is to isolate
ourselves from nature even more than we already have. He believes that if we can create our
own environment, then catastrophes will be irrelevant and our disavowal will be warranted. We
should develop, I think, a much more terrifying new abstract materialism, a kinds of
mathematical universe where there is nothing. There are just formulas, technical forms and so
on. If we can find beauty in trash itself that is a success. If we can learn to love the earth for what
it is, that is also a success. This comes as a result of additions that we must work to make in order
to greater the success of the environment. That s the true love of the world. Because what is
love? Love is not idealization. Love means you accept a person...with all its failures, stupidities,
and ugly points. And nonetheless, the person s absolute for you [...] But you see perfection in
imperfection itself. And that s how we should learn to love the world. The key to Zizek s ideology
is love through change. We as people must begin to adapt and accept the world as it comes, and
care for it as if it were

International Business In China Case Study
INTRODUCTION Despite having extremely conservative foreign direct investment guidelines, the
government of China has been successful in attracting foreign investment. Proper implementations
of Human Resource policies for international strategic alliances have always remained as a real
challenge in the country. In order to adjust in the Chinese market, international banks have
customized their policies and lending criteria and the government has also restructured their
banking policies and information technology services. Before setting up an international business,
various factors should be considered like finding the perfect strategic fit which should also be in

the growth is not very sustainable as every financial system is interconnected with the economic

the hierarchy system which does not give banks a lot of independence to make decisions. Strategic
partnerships were limited to 20% and foreign ownership to 25% leading to increased foreign

Racial Perception Of Where Is The Voice Coming From ...
Racial perception in society has always been a topic of controversy throughout the entire nation.
The United States of America didn t always support equal rights of colored individuals even after
it was printed into the US constitution that all men are created equal. White supremacy was at
its peak as segregation and racism has consumed many parts of the country. Known as a very
important civil right leader, John Lewis gives an indepth look of the most pivotal moments in
America through book two of the series known as March . Eudora Welty s Where is the voice
coming from conveys the perception of many Americans who felt as if colored people were a
threat and could not have the luxurious lifestyle. Both pieces impact the minds of people today as
it sheds light on the issue of equality for all individuals, nonetheless the short story Where is the
voice coming from and article Emmits ring by Valerie Smith both give one the realization that
many individuals in the past and even now in the present allow psychological consent in order to
justify violent actions which have ended many innocent lives. With malicious intent it saddens me
that a deaths of innocent people is what it takes for colored folks to have a right to fight for
justice. Where is the voice coming from is a one of the many short stories in Eudora Welty s novel.

The Digital Of Digital Image
There has been an explosive growth in use of internet and World Wide Web and also in multimedia
technology and it s applications recently. This has facilitated the distribution of the digital contents
over the internet. Digital multimedia works (video, audio and images) become available for
retransmission, reproduction, and publishing over the Internet. A large amount of digital data is
duplicated and distributed without the owner s consent. This arises a real need for protection
against unauthorized copy and distribution. Hence it became necessary to build some secure
techniques for legal distribution of these digital contents. Digital Watermarkinghas proved to be a
good solution to tackle these problems. It discourages the copyright violation and help to determine
the authenticity and ownership of the data.
A Digital image watermarking systems have been proposed as an efficient means for copyright
protection authentication of digital image content against unintended manipulation (spatial
chromatic). Watermarking techniques tries to hide a message related to the actual content of the
digital signal, watermarking is used for providing a kind of security for various type of data (it
may be image, audio, video, etc). Digital watermarking generally falls into the visible watermarking
technology and hidden watermarking technology visible and invisible watermarks both serve to
deter theft but they do so in very different ways.

How Transnational Corporations Affect the Sovereignty of a Nation
Analysts agree that TNCs have altered the international relations principles that were once
dominated by nation state relations (Kline, 2005).Transnational Corporations have in many ways
exploited the weaknesses in the territorially guarded national laws. In many developing countries,
organizations affiliated to external control have challenged and in some instances threatened
government sovereignty. Economically stable countries such as the United States of America, have
attempted to extend their influence to other countries of the world through TNC. This situation is
what led to governments endorsing the non interference policy in national political affairs (United
Nations, 2003). Interesting to note is the role that non governmental organizations played in this
debate. Nongovernmental organizations have been known to not only exert political pressure on
governments with little democratic space, but also collaborate with TNCs in this quest. (Heinrich,
2001). For example, many NGOs sort the active involvement of TNC in removal of the apartheid
regime in South Africa. This in return, has created tension between these governments and the
NGOs with the NGOs calling for the increased political involvement of the TNCs.
Transnational Corporations have been steadfast in calling for respect, support and promotion of
human rights (Kline, 2005). This has been done in reference to the United Nations Universal

A Woman s Descent Into Madness
Shayna Pospisil

A women s descent into madness Hamlet is praised as one of the greatest literary works ever
written but unlike the title, many characters play key roles in the development of the story and his
progression towards revenge induced madness. One such character is Hamlet s lover Ophelia. She
is a pivotal character in the effectiveness as well as execution of the plot for revenge. One fact
that is commonly short sited is the relationship Ophelia has with Hamlet and how that ultimately
affects his road towards revenge. Without Ophelia there is no Hamlet. Ophelia s innocence, lack
of knowledge and ignorance, and weakness of the mind all play a key role in not only her own
but also Hamlet s demise. One of the most talked about subjects in the play itself is Ophelia s
innocence of purity. Because Hamlet was going to Denmark a relationship with Ophelia would
never work therefore her father felt the intense need to protect her innocence. Any kind of
relationship would be detrimental to not only Ophelia but her family as well. If Ophelia were to
lose her purity before marriage she would no longer be desirable to any other man because she
would be used goods . That would reflect not only on herself but on her family. Another
interesting point is just how protective her brother Laertes is of her virtue. In Act I, Laertes gives
advice to Ophelia on the pitfalls of a pre marital relationship in a lengthy speech that s geared

sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be between people of
the same sex. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be a woman harassing a man.
Who can sue?
Anyone who is offended by a sexually harassing environment may theoretically sue. However, that
employee s offense must be reasonable. An extremely sensitive person might not be able to
maintain a claim, because her feelings of having been offended were not reasonable.
The reasonableness is evaluated by a standard that is the same as a person in the victim s
circumstances. For example, what a reasonable woman might think is a hostile environment is not
necessarily the same as what a man might think is a hostile environment. If it s a woman who was
harassed, it s the woman s point of view that counts.
Damages In Sexual Harassment In The Workplace Cases
Victims of sexual harassment in the workplace can recover for their lost wages, future lost wages,
emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorneys fees.

Slavery Argument Against Slavery
Slavery, though it was an inexcusable, helped shape the nation that we live in today. In the last
few weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both
sides of the slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood
for. The resistance to the end of slaverywas likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery
arguments were completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary
to keep the United States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks
that caused the social disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this
same view, in fact, many were convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances
because many of the African Americans were slaves and had no means to cause these public
disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was not just a practice, but a way of life. They
feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished. This is proven because, years before
the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting to get defensive about the
question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of how Southerners lived
their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good lacked foundation.

Amadeus Conflict Essay
I believe the central conflict in Amadeus is Salieri s jealousy towards Mozart. Salieri really
admires Mozart and his outstanding music even though Mozart is a few years younger than him.
Salieri begins to feel envy and jealousy towards Mozart when Mozart enters the emperor s palace
and calls one of Salieri s old songs a funny little tune. Mozart then proceeds to point out the flaws
in the piece and explains how Salieri could improve his piece making Salieri question why God
had blessed someone like Mozart with such talent.
In the following scene, we learn that Prince Elizabeth, the emperor s niece, needs a tutor. The
emperor immediately thinks of Mozart but Salieri being the envious individual that he is turns
the idea down quickly and suggests that he should have people apply for the position instead.
Mozart refuses to apply for the position so his wife Constanze decides to take matters into her
own hands and goes and speaks to Salieri; Salieri is part of the committee who reviews
applications for Prince Elizabeth s tutor. He is willing to help Mozart get the position only if
Constanze sleeps with him later in the evening; she arrives and gets undressed right before anything

Analysis Of The Little Mermaid
Loved by many Disney fanatics, The Little Mermaid is a classic fairy tale about a young
mermaid who gives up her tail and voice for legs and a chance to be with the prince she loves.
Where the film differs from the original classic is its ending, where the little mermaid turns into
ocean foam after the prince marries a different woman instead of the happy ending of Ariel and
Prince Eric. The original tale has multiple meaning that can be interpreted through the 4 different
lenses, allowing the young reader to learn what is expected of him or her.
The reader s response towards this short story is that if you truly love someone, you shouldn t be
afraid to let them go. When the little mermaid finally turns 15 and is able to go out to see the ...

On the other hand, she loves the prince and can t bare to see him in pain. The Little Mermaid
decides, loving the prince too much to end his life, to drown herself in the ocean, becoming one
with the foam. From this act, we learn that if we truly love someone, we shouldn t be selfish and
kept them to yourself. We should give them up, allowing them to live their own life. Whether or
not they return the feelings, the child learns that to love someone deeply, you be willing to
sacrifice your feelings and let the person walk their own path in order for them to be truly happy.
Through the lenses of Bettelheim psychologists, a childhood fear that can be observed here is the
fear of not having one s love be reciprocated. The Little Mermaid s choice to give up her tail was
not made without thought. When she ventures out to visit the witch in order to become human, she
becomes paralyzed with fear seeing the moving polypi grab hold of their unfortunate victims,
taking hold of them forever. She begins doubting herself, questioning if it s even worth it and
nearly turns back, only stopping when she thinks about her life with the prince. Throughout the
process of the deal making, the young mermaid begins to regret her actions. When the witch
mentions the pains she ll feel when she gains her legs, the little mermaid responds in a trembling
voice (в„™. 41). The thoughts of living her life in excruciating pain for the rest of her life

The artist and architect Maya Lin entered public life at age 21, sparking waves of controversy in
1981 when she won a competition for the design of the Monument for the Veterans of the Vietnam

Everyone possesses an innate superpower; and some people just have a unique kryptonite.
Regardless of what one s kryptonite is, everyone has something to offer the world. Rather than

Reflection On Dirac Theory
After the Shanghai trip, I felt charged and refreshed ready to tackle the most important project

Economic Inequality In America Essay
Poverty is one of the greatest problems in the United States today. Poverty is the state or
condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; a condition of being
poor. Many people, especially African Americans and children, live in poverty. People in poverty
are left to face different social, cultural, physical and mental challenges. The American Dream is to
have a well paying job and to be comfortable, but most Americans are forced to live a life of poverty
. Although the United Statesis one of the richest countries in the world, the rate of poverty and
income inequality is still relatively high. Economic Inequalityis the reason why poverty is
increasing, and equal opportunity is reducing. 1
Although social and political inequalities are the main reasons why African Americans are the
poorest in the country, economic inequality also has a part to play in this. It is commonly believed
that people s negligence make them go into poverty. 2The roles that social, economic and political
systems play in affecting people s standards of living are often overlooked.3 Although the equal
rights act was passed in 1964, African Americans still do not get the opportunities that white
Americans get.4 In the country today, African Americans get lower paying jobs compared to
whites. According to Institute on Research for Poverty, the rate of poverty of African Americans in
the United States from 1959 2012 is 27.2% which is higher than any other race in the country.5

Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting
Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of
parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also
discuss how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s
most effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are
expected to follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into
place. This type of parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions.
Authoritative parents gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection
which every child, I think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to
ensure that the child (ren) understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when
setting these limits. Parents with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in
certain cases for example, allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the
child can finish watching television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an
Authoritative Parent is more of a nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types
of parents uses rewards, praises, and positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971,

Electronic Waste Essay
Electronic waste comes in many different forms such as old computers, old cell phones, broken

e waste are ICT and telecommunications equipment, office electronics, large and small household
appliances, consumer equipment, leisure equipment, lighting, medical equipment, automatic
dispensers, monitoring and control instruments, and batteries (ayubmacharia.com). From these
different types of e waste, there are many different toxic substances that can escape from them in
numerous different ways. The principal toxic substances that are contained within electronics
include zinc, nickel, lead, barium and chromium(allgreenrecyling.com). When these harmful

billions of tonnes of electronic waste each year are sent to these countries. The toxins contained
within the e waste are then released into the atmosphere, and can even end up in products being

and it is other worldly and possibly is referred to as a religion. Some skeptics have disputed that
Taoism is not a religion. Taoism is considered a philosophy, a method of surveying life and a way of
meditating about things. Furthermore, Confucianism believes that knowledge and instruction are
vitally important. Confucius displayed urgency on learning by which he set a standard of the
continuity of learning throughout his life (Cheng, 2011). On the other hand, Taoism accentuates on

Maple Wood Research Paper
Maple is most commonly associated with the production of syrup, not primarily with smoking
food. Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and
reduced even further to make maple sugar. The sugar contained in the wood is thought to enhance
its value as a smoking wood.
Which tree do maple wood chips come from?
Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There
are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood,
which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods.
Wood from softwood trees like redwood and cedar can be highly resinous. Resinous woods cause
creosote build up and can give foods an unpleasant taste. How does smoking with maple wood

It has more in common with fruit woods like cherry and apple than with stronger flavored woods
like hickory or mesquite. It is perfect when used in combination with the more flavorful woods
as you can use it to tone down their harshness and to give them a little sweetness. Note that while
maple wood does give out a lot of white smoke when you first put it on the coals, it will quickly be
replaced by the light blue smoke you want from your wood chips. Which foods work best with the
maple wood chip flavor?
Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their
flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without
canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. Maple wood does an especially good
job when used to smoke hams. If you pair it with another mild smoke wood like alder, you can
use maple wood chips to smoke fish like salmon and trout. Maple is also used by some to smoke
cheeses, often in combination with other mild

The Causative Bacterial Agent For Lyme Disease
Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative bacterial agent for Lyme Disease, has persisted for thousands
of years. Recently, scientists have found genetic remains of the bacteria from a mummy dating
back 5,300 years (National Geographic, 2011). However, Borrelia burgdorferi was not classified
and identified as the putative source for Lyme Diseaseuntil the early 1980 s.
After mysterious and untreatable symptoms appeared in children and adults of the city of Lyme,
Connecticut, the goal for many clinical microbiologists was to discover the source of disease and
possible cures. It wasn t until Dr. Willy Burgdorfer made a connection between the infected
populace and tick bites when the bacteria was truly discovered (bayarealyme.org). It was then the
bacterium was christened in his name. The bacterium continues to be extensively studied.
Borrelia burgdorferi have many defining characteristics. The spirochete shape distinguishes the
bacterium from other human pathogens. Borrelia burgdorferi is considered a microaerophile it
thrives in environments of low oxygen. However, it can also be classified as an obligate anaerobe
(wisegeek.org). It is considered a weak gram negative bacteria, but is better characterized as a
diderm (Wikipedia). This means that the bacterium has two cell membranes, thus making gram
staining difficult. The bacterial genome consists of one linear chromosome with 17 additional
plasmids totaling over 1000 genes. Most of these genes code for surface proteins

Ethical Dilemma of Hiv Disclosure in Intimate Relationships
HIV Prevention with Positives in Thailand: Ethical Dilemma of HIV Status Disclosure in intimate
relationship.
Abstract
Every year, there are about ten thousand new HIV infection cases in Thailand. The majority of new
HIV transmissions in Thailand have changed from commercial sex to intimate relationships while
HIV prevention generally focuses on self protection and universal precaution. In 2003, Center for
Disease Control and Prevention recommend to integrate HIV preventive measure into routine HIV
care. According to a survey of People Living with HIV and AIDS(PLWHA) in Thailand, 45% of
HIV infections came from transmission between spouses and 10% believed that their partners knew
their HIV status before having a relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of these preventive measures aim at self protection of the general HIV negative population
and vulnerable groups. HIV positive people have not been included in prevention strategies and
messages. Fear of further stigmatization exclude concept of responsibility for health of sexual
partner as an alternative strategy and prevention program. (Bayer 1996) However research has
shown that after most PLWHA learn their HIV status they reduce their unprotected sex, though
some still engage in unsafe sex.(Janssen, Holtgrave, Valdiserri et al. 2001; Marks, Richardson,
Crepaz et al. 2002) In 2003, the Centers for Disease Control recommended the Prevention with
Positives strategy to promote sexual health among PLWHA attending HIV/AIDS clinic and to help
reduce onward HIV transmission.(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2003) Positive
prevention was recommended by UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS); it
has been implemented in industrialized countries, and should be a priority in high prevalence
regions.(Bunnell R, J. and K 2006)
Advance in medical treatment, especially antiretroviral treatment have improved quality of life and
prolongs survival. Antiretroviral treatment also reduces the probability of HIV transmission by
reducing virus to undetectable level. (Vernazzaa, Hirschelb, Bernasconic et al. 2008)

recently reported that the use of smart phones may cause human beings suffering the presence of
pain. Those who often look at their smart phones for stimulating and satisfying people may
eventually lose their skills in face to face interaction. Other studies have found that smart phone
users are showing signs of excitement and boredom when they are separated from their mobile
phones. New findings even show that technology addiction is as serious as material abuse. While
these consequences may not pose a threat to our health, these actions will certainly steal people s
time and energy and have little to payback. According to the British Chiropractic Association, the
obsession with smart phones has picked up the number of young people, because tilting the time

Lorenzo Ghiberti Research Paper
The son of a goldsmith, in Florence, Italy, Lorenzo Ghiberti would become one of the most
influential
Artists of the early Renaissance.A child prodigy, he received his first commission at age 23.
Ghiberti multi tasked much of his work including the doors for the Florence baptistery and
numerous statues. He was a student of humanism and incorporated much of its philosophy into his
work.
Lorenzo was born in Pelago, near Florence, Italy, in 1378 (the exact month and day of his birth are
unknown). He was well trained by his father, Bartoluccio Ghiberti, a well respected goldsmith in
Florence. In 1392, he was admitted to the Silk and Gold Guild as an apprentice, and by 1398, had

In rendering the doors, Ghiberti adopted the linear grace of the early 15th century gothic style of
Florence to the expressive power of the newer Renaissance style. The result was a heightened
illusion of depth. Completed and installed in 1424, the doors were so highly praised that the Arte
Calimala hired Ghiberti to work on another set of doors.
Over the 20 years that he spent working on the doors, Lorenzo Ghiberti also devoted his time to
creating the designs for the stained glass windows of the Florence cathedral, and served as
architectural consultant to the cathedral s building supervisors.
In 1412, the Arte di Calimala gave him another commission: to make a larger than life sized bronze
statue of their patron saint, John the Baptist, outside the guild s communal building, Or San
Michele (also known as Orsanmichele). A bold undertaking, Ghiberti finished the work in 1416
and was quickly commissioned to do two more similar large bronze statues for the guild. To
complete all of this work, Ghiberti operated a smoothly functioning workshop with many

The Most Valuable Ideas I ve Learned During Therapy
Relapse Prevention Plan The most valuable ideas I ve learned in therapy are: a. In therapy Jane
learned that Recovery isn t going to happen all at once. With that she understands that there will

Essay on Racism in Disney Films
What images come to mind as one reflects upon his or her childhood? Playgrounds, blackboards,
and soccer balls may be among the fondest of memories. Yet, for many, mermaids swim their
thoughts, princesses get swept off their feet, and lions roar to their royal place in the animal
kingdom. Disney films have captivated the American culture for years and have become a pivotal
part of popular culture as well as a form of education. However, these films have devoured the
youth of America and, in the process; have perpetuated an institutionally racist society based on
harsh stereotypes. Minorities are often underrepresented, and even completely left out, of many
Disney films such as Dumbo (1941), The Lion King(1994), Aladdin (1992), and... Show more

According to Carl Hiaasen, The secret weapon is trust. Disney is the most trusted brand name in
the history of marketing. It hooks us when we re little and never lets go; this unshakeable faith
that Disney is the best at knowing what s best. (13) It is time that this myth be shattered. As far
back as 1946, racial stereotyping of African Americans has been evident in Disney films. For
instance, in the American classic Dumbo, the crows depict the typical southern African American
with a slow pattern of speech. In Jungle Book (1967) the monkeys with African American voices
are jiving in a crazy manner because they will never be real men and will always be animals. One
of the most tragic examples of this racism can be seen in the movie Tarzan. In the original making
of the movie, the white man comes to the rescue and tames all of the animals and natives. However,
in the new Disney version of Tarzan (1999), the blacks that obviously inhabit Africa were
completely eliminated and replaced by gorillas with African American voices. African American
children whom view these films have no choice but to resort to relating to these often unintelligent,
inferior animals because that is where they hear themselves. In Mickey Mouse Monopoly, children
were asked if they could think of any black characters in Disney films, sadly they came up short of
a single one. It

The Dependence On Fossil Fuels
Title Since the invention of the car over a century ago, people have become highly dependent on
fossil fuels. Over the past few decades it has become clear that this dependence has been having
disastrous effects on the environment, our health, our economy, and our future. Not only that, but
fossil fuels are a finite supply and once they are depleted, there is no getting more. If we are to
continue to thrive as a society, it is imperative that we reduce our dependence on non renewable
fossil fuels, and move towards renewable energy sources such as electricity, biofuels, and
hydrogen. Fossil fuels have been used to power our vehicles since the invention of the car in the
late 19th century. And with more people driving cars over the years, the total consumption of oil
has increased dramatically. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the
United States used 8.8 million barrels of gasoline (368 million gallons) a day for transportation in
2014 (Energy Information Administration). This is an alarming rate, considering the world only has
so much oil. The EIA has predicted that the world has enough oil to carry the industries that rely on
it through 2040 (Energy Information Administration). Beyond that, it is uncertain if we will have
enough oil, not only for transportation, but also for the thousands of other industries that depend
on it as their primary source of energy. Besides going scarce, another issue with relying on fossil
fuels for energy is

The Scandinavian Banking Crisis of 1990 Focus Sweden

The majority of banking crises in last 30 years have been caused be deregulation of the banking
industry followed by rapid unstable credit expansion leading to a unsustainable asset pricing
bubbles. Scandinavian Banking Crisis was not exception. When the bubble bursts, the effects can
ripple through the entire economy, and can cause massive disruption and loss in confidence.
By 1985 Sweden was experiencing higher inflation rates that many other similar countries, caused
by high interest rates and volatile currency. Due to high inflation and a real after tax interest rates
were low or even negative. It is only following the banking crash that Swedish households faced
positive borrowing costs for the first time in 30 years. The Swedish economy managed to have
negative interest rates for so long due to the banking regulations, which were soon the be lifted.
Sweden had a regulated banking sector. Banks, insurance companies, and other institutions were
subjected to lending ceilings, and placement requirements (liquidity ratios) required them to invest
in bonds issued by the government and by mortgage institutions. Large budget deficits and an
ambitious programme for residential investment led to a situation where banks were required to
hold more than 50 per cent of their assets in such bonds, typically with long maturities and with
interest rates being

  • 2. Kallistos Ware Beliefs One of the most important characteristics of faith that Kallistos Ware highlights is the idea that much, if not all, of one s relationship with God, is based off of instinctive feelings as opposed to other feasible elements. As Ware states, Faith is not the supposition that something might be true, but the assurance that someone is there. Faithin God, as Ware explains in this quotation, is not merely believing in God due to elements of scripture or teaching, but is instead something that occurs after personal experiences that provide a basis for the presence of God in one s life. Additionally, these personal experiences not only need to occur, but also need to be interpreted and attributed to God. However, this can be difficult for many, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. First Lollipop Research Papers The first incarnation of the lollipop was probably created by cave people thousands of years ago who collected honey from beehives with a stick Not wanting to waste the sweet nectar they most likely licked the stick thus inventing the world s first lollipop Good for them (good for us) Archaeologists believe that ancient Chinese Arabs and Egyptians all produced fruit and nut confections that they candied in honey which serves as a preservative and inserted sticks into to make easier to eat If the 17th Century English version doesn t count as the first modern lollipop you could look to the Civil War era for another early forerunner when hard candy was put on the tips of pencils for children The early 20th Century was the era of automation which is when the birth of the lollipop as we now know it begins in earnest but there are still discrepancies as to who is the true creator In the 17th Century as... • 4. Is Blanche A Likeable Character A Street Car Named Desire Is Blanche a likeable character? It is an interesting question. Her past is less than desirable: A husband who has committed suicide, countless sexual encounters with men who wanted her for one reason and one reason only, a sense of utter loneliness, and a very distinct belief that she is better than all others around her. Blanche heads to visit Stella and Stanley in an effort to start a new, and cleanse herself of the past; when in fact what she finds is much worse than the ghosts of her past. In the first scenes, Blanche is very unlikable and is portrayed as a jealous sister, who can t be happy for anyone. It is hard to feel sympathetic to Blanche; yet easy to feel sympathetic for everyone but her, due to her treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche has just lost her last chance to be stable financially, emotionally and physically. The reader can most likely relate on some level with a loss of something once loved. The most shocking parts of the play take place in the last few scenes when Stanley takes out the ultimate aggression and abuse of power on Blanche; he rapes her while her sister is in labor with his child. This is a very hard concept to grasp. How could Stanley be so evil? Have so much hate? Do this to Blanche, Stella and his son? These are all questions the reader may ask themselves; while most likely having sympathy for Blanche after experiencing such a violent act. It is in the last scene when Blanche is torn down repeatedly; here she may receive even more sympathy. Blanche has told Stella of what Stanley did to her, but Stella does not believe her. Blanche s behavior toward the poker players and during her bath reflects the way being raped by Stanley has scarred her. In the beginning of the play, Blanche craves the attention of the poker players. By its end, she wants to be invisible and hopes they won t notice her. Blanche spends much of Scene Eleven in the bath; as she has done this many times before, this time was different. Blanche was attempting to wash away Stanley s recent violation rather than her past sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. President Woodrow Wilson s Decision To Go To War Against... The United States Senate voted eighty two to six to go to war against Germany. World War I started in 1914. President Woodrow Wilson was a fan of French and English history, but he still signed a pledge, that stated America s neutrality. American corporations were already selling military weapons to both sides of the war. Sadly, President Wilson did not take action against this. At this point in time, America and Great Britain were the best of trading partners. Germany was not happy with his arrangement. Germany quickly surrounded Great Britain. Germany sunk and shot down many of America s ships. On January 8th,1917 Germany had announced that they had sunk the ship named William P. Frye. The ship was on its way to Great Britain carrying ... • 6. Biography Of Auguste Rodin s The Gates Of Hell Auguste Rodin has a number of awe inspiring pieces, ranging in medium, size, and location. Outside the massive cluster in Paris, they pop up in the most unusual places, such as Philadelphia, Seoul, Tokyo, and Raleigh. What is even more interesting is that many of Rodin s pieces were designed to be part of a single great piece, a massive pair of doors, intended for an art museum that grew into something much more. This piece is Rodin s Gates of Hell. The gates are particularly significant to the world of art, not only for the sculptural mastery they display, but also for being a rather revolutionary piece in regards to the physical build and the emotion provocation. They display the characteristic Rodin flair for emotional content, perhaps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his creation techniques, Rodin used a casting technique, where he would first make the sculpture out of clay or plaster, and then it to someone else to be cast and glazed into the blackened bronze look he is so well known for. Perhaps this spare time allowed him to create more prolifically, as he made multiple copies of many pieces, ranging in size. He would also often also combine separate pieces with modification to create a new piece, many of which are well known. His gates are remarkable because of this dedication, taking the typical relief method of only having only slight amounts of depth created, to having the surface of the gates roiling with sinners pulling away from the slab, their bodies protruding outwards. Theses gates excluded a number of motifs from a variety of places, which leads, in turn, back to speculation on the influences Rodin had while designing them. The main influences on the gates include Rodin s personal and professional life, The Inferno, and artists and writers of the times. A relief is a sculpture done on a slab, with rationally layer being taken away or added to create depth, without any main protrusions from the slab. Casting is a complex process, but ultimately results in in a hollow metal replica of the sculpted. The pieces are ground down to remove any imperfections, then finished with coats of metal oxides, known as a patina, that react with the bronze and produces the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Political Conflict In Riyadh And Iran The latest developments that just unfolded in Riyadh are unsettling and carry a high risk of a regional confrontation. An assertive Saudi crown prince is determined to consolidate power by purging dissidents at home while escalating rhetoric abroad. Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil, is challenging an emboldened Iranian regime whose armed proxies have been strengthening their hold from the Levant to Yemen. While these circumstances are tantamount to an imminent war scenario between Riyadh and Tehran, there are indications that it might not actually be the case. On November 4, within the span of few hours, two major events took place: Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two Saudi ambassadors in Iraq and Lebanon were appointed last week, showing a willingness to engage. On October 25, Saudi Arabia and Iran finally agreed to have the Swiss government as a go between for consular and diplomatic services, after breaking off diplomatic ties in early 2016. Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore a new market. A military confrontation with Iran is counterproductive to Saudi engagement in Iraq. While in Syria, Saudi Arabia has been keeping a low profile with an influence restricted to elements in the exiled civilian opposition. Third, a confrontation is not in Iran s interest for now. The Iranian regime, which has been more united since President Hassan Rouhani s reelection in May, is focused on reaping the economic benefits of the nuclear deal and preserving the gains made in Syria. Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of Iran s Revolutionary Guard, announced on October 31 that Iran will be restricting its long range missiles to 2,000km, which can reach Israel and US interests in the Middle East. The move was meant to reassure European countries that are beyond that missile range. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited Tehran on November 1, convinced Tehran to tone down the rhetoric against the US. While Russia is focused on advancing a political solution in Syria, Iran sees that the Syrian war will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teacher Shortage There are many contributing factors to low teacher turnover, however, the main issue is a lack of support and respect for our teachers. Instead of working on maintaining and providing support for our current educators, the conversation usually surrounds expensive and often ineffective recruitment programs. The harsh fact is that it is very expensive to live in our valley and the current teacher salary/benefits are not enough to attract top talent. • 9. Oman And The Middle East Stratum Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key strategic space in the Middle East stratum. With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep cliffs along the coast, Oman over the years has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has allowed Oman to repel the majority of attacks from foreign militaries and maintain their sovereignty. The Southern and Eastern coastline of the country represents the key that makes Omanso important to the strength of the Middle East. Oman is a major piece to the peace in the Middle East. Oman lies in the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula right on the Tropic of Cancer latitude line (International, 2011). Yemen, Saudi Arabia , and the United Arab Emiratesborder Oman from the southeast, west, and the north. Oman also claims many islands in the Arabian Sea and in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman s northern tip. Similar to its surrounding nations, Oman has a mountain range that spans the country. The Hajar mountain range begins at the north west tip and extends down its western border to the southwest, near Yemen (International, 2011). The Omanis compare The Hajar to a human backbone, for it forms a great arc much like the human skeleton. The Interior of Oman is mostly sand dunes, rocks, and gravel, which is very similar to the entire Middle East region (International, 2011). Oman s coastline stretches 1,700 km from North to South. Low hills and wastelands with little vegetation is what fill these coastlines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Review Of Ice Age Ice Age Chapter One The green garbage truck pulled up into a long winding ramp like driveway, the special clamps on his wheels dug into the ice that encased the world in a snowy ice age. At five in the morning this house seemed eerily silent, even for five A.M. The truck driver sighed. He felt sorry for this family. In fact, he d been briefed on them this morning at his office on the 61st floor of The World Building. Mr. Abdallah had been fired yesterday, from his job as a government official on the 98th floor. His income had gone down drastically, and the garbage man, lowly as he was had heard that it was unlikely Mr. Abdallah would ever be hired again. With a heavy heart the young man got out of his truck hooked up the garbage can, flipped it into the trucked and returned it. Shawn Abdallah walked to school as usual. He rode the packed shut elevator to floor 9 as usual. He trudged down the hall to Ms. Sweeney s class as usual. Yet his father s words rang in his ears. You can only go to private school for three months. Then you can go public school for three more, on floor 17. Or you can try public school for nine. Then it s homeschool for you. I m sorry. We just don t have the money anymore. Shawn plunked himself down in his seat and let out a long sigh. He didn t know how he would make it through the day without someone teasing him too much about his father losing his job. Just two days ago, police had stormed through his house, taking Shawn s parent s turban and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual. (S H 468) Christian Science founder, Mary Baker Eddy was born in Bow, New Hampshire, in 1821. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_demographics_of_christian_science_people_in_ame rica ) Christian Scientists refer to God as Father Mother rather than the biblical Father. Though unconventional, this is not a major departure from mainstream Christianity, since God is believed to encompass both male and female (both were created in the image of God ). Christian Science teaches that Jesus is divine but not God, and that Jesus human nature is a separate entity from the divine Christ. Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God (Science and Health, 361:12 13). Jesus is the name of the man who, more than all other men, has presented Christ, the true idea of God, healing the sick and sinning and destroying the power of death (Science and Health, 473:10 17). Scott Deeter wants to expand Ventria, and allow rice to be grown with man made medicine. There have been many discussions following this issue. Mostly that the rice will contaminate the rice intended for human food, among animal food. There also are comments regarding to the environment and that doing things like this will cause harm. Not to mention, all the ethical dilemmas that go along with it. Scott Deeter has come back with a plan for every argument the critics have thrown at him, but that still is not enough. • 13. William Bradford Hardships William Bradford created a detailed picture in our minds of the hardships the Pilgrims endured, especially during their adventures on the Mayflower and Speedwell to find new land in hopes of escaping England s control. Between furious seas, disease stricken passengers, and a cracked beam on the Mayflower, the hope Pilgrims once had, was almost lost. Only the writings of William Bradford could allow us to see what grueling torment our ancestors had to overcome. Some of the many hardships that the sailors and passengers endured included furious storms, terrible seasickness, abuse from the sailors and crew, dehydration and overall misery. The lack of drinking water in combination with seasickness and no sanitation quickly grasped the bodies on board. Drinking only beer, and lots of it, enabled the sailors and crewmembers to no point of responsible reaction to mending the ship. Centuries ago, beer was so unfiltered that only a cup would be enough to enable a child. Of course with drunkenness comes irresponsibility, and I m certain rape was common upon the ship as well. ... After making it halfway across the Atlantic, a storm ultimately demanded the surrender of the Mayflower and a harsh wave cracked the main beam holding the ship together. Religious Pilgrims thought these the were signs from their God, granting them the oppression they deserved for their un Christian acts on board. Soon enough they would find land. • 14. Ancient Mystery of Malaria Ancient Mystery of Malaria Malaria is a disease that has wrought history since the dawn of time itself. It has conquered some of the mightiest warlords in history including Tutankhamen, Alexander the Great, Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan. The earliest records of malaria symptoms date back to 2700 BCE, first described in the Nei Ching, an ancient Chinese medical script. The Chinese described the prominent symptoms of malaria, discussing the connection between recurring fevers and enlarged spleens. In 1550 BCE the Ebers Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian medical script, mentioned patients suffering from fevers, shivering, vomiting, convulsions and also enlarged spleens. In 600 BCE records of malaria like fevers rampant in Mesopotamia were found documented on cuneiform tablets. By 400 BCE the symptoms of malaria became widely recognizable in Ancient Greece, where malaria was held responsible for huge population declines in large cities and states. Hippocrates, traditionally regarded as the father of modern medicine, documented the main symptoms of malaria and made extensive notes in the literature of the time. He was also the first to recognise the relationship between occurrences of fevers and close proximity to stagnant waters. The Romans also discovered this connection between fevers and swampy marshes and notably pioneered the first preventative efforts against malaria by draining these swamps. Thus from the medieval Italian language the term malaria was coined: mala aria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Congressmen in Washington D.C. halted their activities to be their constituents; however, the Nixon administration was laboring at what would become the capstone of environmental policy, the EPA. While Earth Day was the launch of environmentalism in the modern sense, individuals had been combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau published a compilation of lectures, Walden, that would become the standard by which all subsequent nature writings are judged. Both Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt worked during their tenure as presidents to save the National Park System ( Environmentalism ). A TTY is a special device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another instead of talking and listening. This device was built in 1964 by Robert Weitbrecht. He was a deaf scientist who was born on April 11, 1920 in California. He loved science since his teacher use to take them to factories and he started to be interested in factories. He was taught how to read lips and talk from his mother but he also went to school with other deaf kids. • 18. Empirical Formula Lab Report Empirical Formula and Percent Composition of Magnesium Oxide Prediction Magnesium oxide is an ionic compound (metal cation bonded to non metal anion); therefore, we can determine its formula using the ionic charges of magnesium (Mg2+), and oxygen (O2 ). To comply with the octet rule, the elements combine at a ratio of 1:1;as a result, the formula is MgO (s) . We can theoretically predict the empirical formula, and the percent composition, through this procedure: 1) Two moles of magnesiumcombines with two moles of oxygen. 2Mg(s) + O2 (g) 2MgO(s) Mg= 2 moles O = 2 moles 2) Divide both values by the smallest value and place the results in ratio form. In this case, the ratio is simply 1:1. 3) This ratio represents the number of magnesium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This does not support my hypothesis, but there are possibilities why the experimental result did not match the prediction: There might have been unevaporated water left in the crucible, which would increase the weight of the oxygen . For example, of the 0.06 grams of oxygen measured, 0.02 grams could have been unevaporated water. There might have been some unreacted magnesium. This could have happened if some magnesium strips were covered by others, eliminating their exposure to air. Due to this, the mass of oxygen increases since it is naturally diatomic and doubles up. For example, out of the 0.06 grams of magnesium, 0.02 grams might not have reacted. This unreacted metal allows an oxygen (which would have otherwise been bonded to it) to double up with itself and increase the mass of total oxygen. Always, there could be mechanical error and human error. Since the crucible was an open system, mass could have entered or left due to air currents, or vibrations. • 19. Article Review of VoIP Definition and Solution VoIP Technology This essay evaluates an analysis presented in an article discussing voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) technology. The article, VoIP Definition and Solutions, written by PCWorld and CIO author and editor Thomas Wailgum, describes how VoIP works, its capabilities and its applications. The article examined the treatment of VoIP topics including its definition, objectives, systems and solutions. The term voice over IP refers to a technology that carries voice calls over an IP network by digitizing and packetizing voice streams. Closely related to IP telephony and Internet telephony, VoIP technology allows analog communications to be routed over data networks that include wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and the Internet. Combining voice and data on one network can offer the Army potential telecommunications savings and efficiencies, but there are challenges that come with maintaining network capability, reliability, flexibility and security. Callers connect to VoIP technology in three ways. One method uses a regular telephone, along with a fast Internet connection, and for the individual soldier placing a call, an analog telephone adapter or ATA. The ATA converts analog voice signals into digital packets of data to be sent over the Internet. This application of VoIP technology is easy to set up and use, and is frequently used by VoIP consumers. The Army, which has many users on traditional telephones, would need to use a specialized ... According to Zizek, if we can vision nature as existing as a series of catastrophes rather then viewing it as balanced, then we may begin to acknowledge the implications of how we live symbiotically with the environment. He stresses that as humans we must begin to recognize the changes in the environment and adapt with them. His attempt at a resolution is to isolate ourselves from nature even more than we already have. He believes that if we can create our own environment, then catastrophes will be irrelevant and our disavowal will be warranted. We should develop, I think, a much more terrifying new abstract materialism, a kinds of mathematical universe where there is nothing. There are just formulas, technical forms and so on. If we can find beauty in trash itself that is a success. If we can learn to love the earth for what it is, that is also a success. How Transnational Corporations Affect the Sovereignty of a Nation Analysts agree that TNCs have altered the international relations principles that were once dominated by nation state relations (Kline, 2005).Transnational Corporations have in many ways exploited the weaknesses in the territorially guarded national laws. In many developing countries, organizations affiliated to external control have challenged and in some instances threatened government sovereignty. Economically stable countries such as the United States of America, have attempted to extend their influence to other countries of the world through TNC. This situation is what led to governments endorsing the non interference policy in national political affairs (United Nations, 2003). Interesting to note is the role that non governmental organizations played in this debate. Nongovernmental organizations have been known to not only exert political pressure on governments with little democratic space, but also collaborate with TNCs in this quest. (Heinrich, 2001). For example, many NGOs sort the active involvement of TNC in removal of the apartheid regime in South Africa. This in return, has created tension between these governments and the NGOs with the NGOs calling for the increased political involvement of the TNCs. One such character is Hamlet s lover Ophelia. She is a pivotal character in the effectiveness as well as execution of the plot for revenge. One fact that is commonly short sited is the relationship Ophelia has with Hamlet and how that ultimately affects his road towards revenge. Without Ophelia there is no Hamlet. Ophelia s innocence, lack of knowledge and ignorance, and weakness of the mind all play a key role in not only her own but also Hamlet s demise. One of the most talked about subjects in the play itself is Ophelia s innocence of purity. Because Hamlet was going to Denmark a relationship with Ophelia would never work therefore her father felt the intense need to protect her innocence. Any kind of relationship would be detrimental to not only Ophelia but her family as well. If Ophelia were to lose her purity before marriage she would no longer be desirable to any other man because she would be used goods . That would reflect not only on herself but on her family. In the last few weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both sides of the slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood for. The resistance to the end of slaverywas likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery arguments were completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary to keep the United States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks that caused the social disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this same view, in fact, many were convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances because many of the African Americans were slaves and had no means to cause these public disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was not just a practice, but a way of life. They feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished. This is proven because, years before the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting to get defensive about the question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of how Southerners lived their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good lacked foundation. While I buried myself in a deep pile of monographs related to quantum field theory and Dirac Theory, Ying, on the other hand, worked on a more practical front. After several months hard work, he was able to tie things together and ready to go on with the most critical stage in his program to perform the experiment. However, at the end the accused was acquitted. I also liked the cast because each of those twelve men had a different character and different perceptions. As far back as 1946, racial stereotyping of African Americans has been evident in Disney films.
