Jean Baptiste Lamarck is a French naturalist, soldier, biologist and academic. He gave out his theory
of evolution. His theory was that evolution occurred through the inheritance of developed
characteristics, or the use/disuse theory.
1831 A new world
Charles Darwin was very young and still a student, joins the journey of the HMS Beagle as a
naturalist.
1844 The First Essay
Charles Darwin was working for many years, writes an essay on the theory of evolution. Unluckily,
this was never published.
1858 Rivalry for Evolution
Alfred Russel Wallace issues a paper. The paper had some of the same assumptions as Darwin,
including natural selection. Darwin s friends present both Wallace s and Darwin s theories at the
Linnean Society.
1859 The Origin of Species
Darwin was suffering from sickness both in himself and his family, completes his book The Origin of
Species and issues it. It becomes very popular.
1865 Heredity experimentation
Mendel s works with pea plants is given out, setting the background for the basis of natural selection.
1892 Importance of DNA in heredity
August Weismann gives out answers detailing how important DNA is to heredity. Along with the germ
cell theory. The theory that legacy only takes place by means of germ cells. For example: egg and
sperm. Those other cells do not pass on their genes.

The Importance Of Cheating
Cheating is one of the ultimate signs of betrayal. Whether it be emotional or physical, cheating is
cheating. Harvey describes cheating throughout the novel through the lens of women who may not be
satisfying their man properly mentally or physically. He insinuates that the biggest reason of all [are]:
there s always a woman out there willing to cheat with him (Harvey et al., pg. 105). Not shockingly,
Harvey also manages to blame women for [having] no standards and requirements and who suffer
from serious self esteem issues, making themselves willing to cheat and available to be cheated on
(Harvey et al., pg. 106). Although Harvey is partially correct with his theory, there are always people
who are willing to step outside of their marriage, and it does not matter if they are male and female,
cheating it still cheating. Sadly, the severity of ones actions are not usually recognized until they are
either exposed, or have lost everything they have loved around them due to their infidelity. A person

Spinoza On Substance Monism
The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is
somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics
think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance
monism. This is often cited as the clearest example of how Spinoza was most influenced by Stoic
philosophy. However, Spinoza states that there is only one substance, but further from that, he
unambiguously signals that understanding it is a prerequisite to understanding the epistemological,
psychological, and moral issues where as for the Stoics this is not completely obvious; nor it is
obvious that they place substance at the basis of all philosophical investigation. From the Stoic view,
they do make philosophical investigation being with nature: we must first learn about it before we can
advance to logic and ethics. So upon initial thought, one might think although they may not call it
substance, the Stoics do have nature and its conceptual and argumentative status seems similar to that
of Spinozistic substance. Therefore, because the Stoics have a concept that is equivalent in key
respects to Spinoza s substance, the differences that I stated above may appear not so great after all.

The Next Blow Throughout the past few years, Haiti has suffered blow after blow. Recently, Haiti
took one more devastation, Hurricane Matthew. It struck the country on October 4th 2016 and passed
on the 5th. The category 4 storm laid waste. Hurricane Matthew caused destruction in Haiti, including
physical damage, health dangers, government problems and death. Haiti suffered great destruction
from Matthew. Southern Haiti was damaged specifically. The city Jérémie, as southern city, had 80%

The hurricane hit with a bomb blast on crop fields and killed livestock and fruit trees. Fields were
drowned as they were feet below the risen water level. One Haitian stated that most of the crops were
gone, (Ahmed 7). How is Haiti, a third world country, to survive without their agriculture? Even the
lands suffered physical damage.
After the Hurricane struck, Haiti s health issues spiked. Cholera has been a reoccurring epidemic in
the country. Cholera came in again carried by the flooding. Since late 2010, an estimated 10,000
deaths have been attributed by the disease, and hundreds of thousands have been sickened (Ahmed 10,
9). The clinic for cholera as a result of the earthquake was destroyed, thus a make shift clinic has
opened up in the southern city Rendel to try and cure as many as possible. Cholera is ravaging Haiti
once more. In Haiti, not even their drinking water is safe to drink. Their water is infected with bacteria
and disease. Some of these diseases include hepatitis a and b, cholera, and others. When the flooding
came in, the diseases and feces picked up off the land infected the drinking water, making it virtually

7 Years ago, in the Gulf of Mexico one of the worst catastrophes that has happened in modern history,
happened. Moreover, in the United States. The BP Gulf oil spill as you might of hear it called.
Although, British Petroleum has made every possible attempt to rename the mishap. Years later this
incident has had a huge impact in the local infrastructure. Furthermore, this was a compounding effect
on the Gulf, 5 short years since Hurricane Katrina leveled the coast. This was just another hit to the

John Calvin Beliefs
In the Reformation era, two groups dictated the war of differing religions, Calvinism and the Catholic
Church. Both had different interpretations of God as they maintained loyal members. The Catholic
Church and Protestant denominations were enemies. John Calvin created the Protestant religion
named Calvinism. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it eventually became one of the largest Christian
religion outside Roman Catholic. Its founder John Calvin used Geneva to spread his message. The
Catholic Church experienced several issues in the 1500s. In 1517, Martin Luther s 95 Theses and the

Long before the creation of the Geneva Church and the establishment of the rules, John Calvin had
doubts about his religion. Thomas Beza, author of Life of Calvin said, he could not properly fulfil his
