The Purpose Of The Naturalization Process
The naturalization process for an individual starts when that individual wishes to become an American
citizen. After an interest has been established, the individual can then start with the naturalization
process. The person I interviewed said that she wanted the convenience of traveling without a visa.
After she completed the required tests and was given her certificate of citizenship she became an
official citizen. The purpose of the naturalization process is to admit people to the status of an
American citizen. This is done through series of examinations and a fee to see if the individual is
eligible to become a citizen. One check done before being admitted was seeing if the applicant had
good moral character. Eligibility for being a citizen

Happy, The Truth Of Happiness
In the documentary Freakonomics, the basic theme follows the idea of breaking beyond the system,
and what the system says that you are going to be. With a different documentary called Happy,
happiness is explained by the way happiness is achieved; it says that happiness is based around love
and a positive attitude. Together, the documentaries Happy and Freakonomics examine and prove the
statement that your destiny is determined by you and what you perceive life. In the documentary
Happy, the truth of happiness is shown through the love of others. Along with that Freakonomics goes
into depth the truth that who you think you are determined to be, and who you could be. The two
documentaries amplify and improve around this idea that, breaking out of the norms of life, we can
become extraordinary people.
To truly have a life of purpose, according to the documentary Happy you need to be happy with what
you have. In the beginning of the documentary Happy people were in the documentary, were asked
what they wanted to get out of life, and most of them said to be happy or to achieve the American
dream, to be happy . In Happy, the focus revolves around the basic idea of happiness and that we need
to achieve this awareness of true happiness is to do what we love: ...the things we love to do are the
building blocks of a happy life. Play, having new experiences, friends and family, doing things that are
meaningful, and appreciating what we have; these are the things that make us happy,

Hip Hop And The Music Genre
What is Hip Hop? According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Hip Hop can be delineated as a music genre
consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming
speech that is chanted.1 Originating from a disparaged subculture in the South Bronx and eagerly
spreading through other sectors of New York City during the 1970 s, Hip Hop evolved from formerly
being a relatively fraudulent style to currently being a commercialized and disseminated music genre
among diverse areas around the globe. Hip hop s evolution into a composition distinct from R B
ensued around the time that drum machines and sampling technology became widely available to the
general public at a financially affordable cost for the average consumer. Turntablist techniques (i.e.
scratching, beat mixing, matching, and beat juggling) ultimately developed along with the breaks,
producing a base that could be rapped over, in a manner similar to signifying, as well as percussive
breaks (an influence found in Jamaican dub music). The art of manipulating sound and creating
illustrious music were few of the techniques that identified the aeon of the hip hop genre: Three of
whom will be presented The Diamond Era (1983 1988), The Golden Era (1989 1993), and The Silver
Age (1994 1998). To commence, the first era (The Diamond Era) arose in the year 1983. Although Hip
Hop emerged before 1983, The Diamond era predates the introduction of a new foundation to the hip
hop genre with

Mary Of Arc And Amelia Earhart
During the course of history there have not been many warrior women. Helen of Troy, Joan of Arc and
Amelia Earhart are few of the women that we can consider warrior women. In todays society warrior
women run Fortune 500 companies, hold important seats in politics, are inventors in technology and in
science which were thought to be male dominate professions. Warrior women have sacrificed a lot to
be part of the elite group. Warrior women have sacrificed many of their feminine values instead of
conforming to what is expected of them. A warrior woman is someone who can defend their feminine
values without giving up on their aspirations. (Are)Warrior women play many roles and achieve
greatness in all that she does because she will stand up and fight for what she believes in and will be
constantly pushing for change in relation to the position of women in our society. A warrior woman
possesses as much strength, determination and courage as any man. Amelia Earhart was a warrior
woman who was willing to fight for what she believed in and prove that she would be able to do what
any man could do. (Are) In today s society women are considered equal to men. During the course of
time progression in gender equality has become more evident. Women of the past like Amelia Earhart
have influenced today s evolution of the warrior woman.
One woman that has made an impact on our society and that can be considered a warrior woman is
Amelia Earhart. Amelia inspired many women and

Health Care Benefits
According to the textbook, there are three things that the ACA is making sure it is getting done. The
first one is that the law is making sure that coverage is affordable for people that have low to moderate
income and they lack employer insurance through expanding Medicaid programs. Second, the law is
making sure that there is no one that will be denied coverage because they are poor, elderly, or have
pre existing condition through insurance rating reforms. The third aim is including the individual
mandate that penalizes people that are not enrolled in any health care coverage. The penalty is $95 or
1% of the family s income in 2014, $325 or 2% of income in 2015, and $695 or 2.5% of income in
2016 which increases every year without any insurance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the healthcare insurance companies are not allowed to restrict the consumers with dollars limit.
Also, the federal regulatory agencies are the ones responsible for ensuring that the ACA is being
followed and determining the minimum restricted annual limits that the insurance companies are
allowed to apply to any health plan that was implemented after January 2014 (book). In term of access
to health care providers, enrollees have the right to pick the provider that they want and if it is
specialists provider such as obstetrical and gynecological and pediatrician, they do not have to obtain
prior authorization (book). In the case of coverage for children up to 26 years old, the ACA requires
insurance plans that have a family package to cover dependent children until they reach 26 years old.
For the coverage of preventive and emergency services, ACA requires health insurances to provide
coverage for these services that were mentioned above without any additional cost to the consumers.
Furthermore the prohibition on rescissions, the ACA prohibited any health insurance or health plan
from rescinding coverage unless this individual has been engaged in fraud or misrepresenting. The
health plan or insurance must notify the enrollees at least 30 days in advance before cancelling their
coverage (book). Finally, the disclosure of information, the ACA required the Department of Health
and Human Services to develop a standard explanation of coverage which is summary of coverages
and benefits within a year

Essay on Theoretical Positions of Jung, Adler, and Freud

Early Psychological Theory While science worked diligently to quantify and validate early
structuralist perspectives in psychology, early functionalists were hard at work developing theories
that were more qualitative in nature. Although not directly associated with the functionalism

According to Adler, this initial state of inadequacy people obtain is the result of factors, such as
neglect in their childhood, that significantly influence and shape how a child perceives him or herself
as well as the choices he or she makes. Therefore, only through assisting people in identifying the
factors that led them to the distorted view of themselves can change, healing, growth, and the
development of a new, healthy self image occur. Playing a major role in child development, among
numerous other areas, Adler s beliefs and theories became widely accepted within the world of
psychology therefore significantly influencing modern day psychology. William James William James
was an American philosopher whose work in psychology in the nineteenth century recognized science
as a crucial element in the improvement of social and philosophical doctrines (Allen, 1967). His blend
of psychology and philosophy refined his concept of pragmatism. This pragmatic approach grasped
the meaning of the ideas and truth of his beliefs in an approach that influenced the lives of individuals
as opposed to the abstract sense of ideas (Hothersall, 1995). His research also outlined the

Government Control and Free Will in A Clockwork Orange ...
A Clockwork Orange, a novel written by Anthony Burgess in the 1960 s takes place in dystopian
future in London, England. The novel is about a fifteen year old nadsat (teenager) named Alex who
along with his droogs (friends) commit violent acts of crime and opts to be bad over good. In time,
Alex finds himself to be in an experiment by the government, making him unable to choose between
good and evil, thus losing his ability of free will, and being a mere clockwork orange. A clockwork
orange is a metaphor for Alex being controlled by the government, which makes him artificial because
he is unable to make the decision of good verses evil for himself and is a subject to what others
believe is right. In A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, at the end of the novel in Part Three, Alex is cured and has reverted back to his previous state
of having a choice between being good or evil, thus acquiring that sense of free will once more.
In part one of the novel, we witness the ability of free will that Alex possesses and his ability to
choose between good and evil through contrast presented by darkness of night and lightness of day. At
the beginning of the novel, Alex and his droogs (friends), Pete, Georgie, and Dim are at the Kovova
Milkbar, roaming the streets and committing violent acts during night. Alex and his droogs encounter
an old man who is drunk and is singing a sentimental song. Alex instantly chooses the path of evil
with the free will that he encompasses, and along with his droogs they beat the old man while
laughing at his misery. The old man complains about the stinking world and says, It s a stinking world
because it lets the young get on to the old like you done, and there s no law nor order no more. (Part 2,
Chapter 2, Page 12) At night, Alex uses violence and chooses to beat, rape, and murder innocent
people because it shows that he has freedom of choice and has authority and power in society. Alex s
interpretation of darkness and night is, The night belonged to me and my droogs and all the rest of the
nadsats (teenagers), and the starry bourgeois lurked indoors... (Part 1, Chapter 4, Page 33). In contrast,

Regulatory
Regulations around food trucks can very wildly depending on locations. They must meet many similar
codes and regulations that restaurants do because of food safely laws( How to Start a Retail Food

regulations though is linked with a growth in the industry (Odendahl 2012). Vending laws also play a
big part, when and where can your truck operate? Your location influence this a lot. Liz Leslie (2013)

Food trucks are a step up from fast food and a notch below sit down restaurants. They can give what
many normal restaurants can t, affordability. They give what fast food cant t, healthy food. Food
trucks have turned out to be incredibly resilient to our suffering economy (Gaur 2013). Statistics and
numbers only confirm what we see on the streets, food trucks have come and will be staying; and
making a huge profit. IBISworlds Market research report shows just this in their SWOT analysis
The Street Vendors industry is in a growth phase of its life cycle. Over the 10 years to 2017, industry
value added (IVA), which measures an industry s contribution to GDP, will grow at an average annual
rate of 3.5%. By comparison, GDP is anticipated to grow at an annualized 2.1% over the same period.
If you read the entire report you can also find that in contradiction to what you might think with the
30,810 street vendor businesses in operation no one has any dominant share (Gaur 2013).

very caring to most of the people she met. Nancy showed how caring she was when she cared for the
welfare of wounded soldiers from the Vietnam War while she was First Lady of California. She was

Essay on Some Like It Hot
Some Like It Hot is an American screwball comedy film directed by Billy Wilder and featuring
Marilyn Monroe as Sugar, Tony Curtis as Joe, and Jack Lemon as Jerry. Joe and Jerry are struggling
musicians who accidentally witness a mob hit and become targets. To hide from the mob, they flee the
state as members of a traveling women s band, where further complications set in. They quickly

The prohibition setting allows transgression to be seen as accepted and normal for ordinary people.
The criminalization of alcohols serves to demonstrate how personal choice can be incorporated under
institutionalized morality. Furthermore, the setting creates a distance between reality and the subject of
the film for the more conservative viewer, which is one of the justifications as to why the film was
done in black and white.
The film is a crafty combination of many components including a spoof of period gangster films,
romance in screwball comedies, and gender reversal and cross dressing. Evidently, one of the major
themes in the film is disguise and masquerade. In its time, Some Like It Hot was the highest grossing
comedy, one of the most successful films in 1959, and undoubtedly Wilder s funniest comedy. The
film was based on a German movie, Fanfares of Love, directed by Kurt Hoffmann with similar plot
elements borrowed by Wilder. The events in the movie were inspired by the infamous St. Valentine s
Day Massacre in Chicago. At the time of its release, the United States was at the end of the repressive
1950 s and the studio system was weakened as a result of censorship restrictions. The film received
much criticism for its risqué subjects of double entendre dialogue and gender bending theme. Wilder
purposely challenged the system with Some Like It Hot, filling it with sexual innuendos and
stereotypes and a

Distributed Lag Model For Money Supply And Price...
CHAPTER EIGHT DISTRIBUTED LAG MODEL FOR MONEY SUPPLY AND PRICE
RELATIONSHIP 8.1 Distributed Lag Model The economic variable Y is affected by not only the
value of X at the same time t but also by its lagged values plus some disturbance term i.e.X_t,X_(t
1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t.this can be written in the functional form as: 〖Y_t=f(X〗_t,X_(t 1),X_(t
2).....,X_(t k),ε_t) In linear form, Y_t=α+β_0 X_t+β_1 X_(t 1)+β_2 X_(t 2)+⋯+β_j X_(t k)+ε_t (8.1)
Where, β_0 is known as the short run multiplier, or impact multiplier because it gives the change in
the mean value of Y_t following a unit change of X_tin the same time period. If the change of X_t is
maintained at the same level thereafter, then, (β_0+β_1) gives the change in the mean value of Y_t in
the next period, (β_0 + β_1+β_2) in the following period, and so on. These partial sums are called
interim or intermediate multiplier. Finally, after k periods, that is =β, therefore ∑▒β_i is called the
long run multiplier or total multiplier, or distributed lag multiplier. If we define the standardized β_i^*
= β_i/(∑▒β_i ) then it gives the proportion of the long run, or total, impact felt by a certain period of
time. In order for the distributed lag model to make sense, the lag coefficients must tend to zero as
k. This is not to say that 2 is smaller than 1; it only means that the impact of X_(t k)on Y_t
must eventually become small as k gets large. The distributed lag plays

Communication Is A Vital Weapon Of American Politics
Communication is a vital weapon in American politics. Our leaders have won and lost our favor with
organized speech since before the signing of the declaration of independence. With a well written
speech, and a practiced delivery, one man can change the views of our entire country. No one has done
this more successfully than Ronald Reagan. When Ronald Reagan gave the televised speech A Time
for Choosing for the Barry Goldwater Campaign in 1964, he changed the way that American
campaign speeches would be given forever. According to critics, his performance is the most effective
of its kind, prompting comparisons to William Jennings Bryan as a great American speaker and
earning him the title of The Great Communicator. Despite the wide acclaim, the speech did not work
as Goldwater lost the election by a cavernous margin. So, why was his speech considered a success if
the candidate it was supposed to bolster did not even win the election? While many explanations are
offered about the success of this speech by scholars, this paper will focus on the most widely
supported school of thought, The Teflon President . More formally, this paper will argue that Reagan
solidifies his identity as The Great Communicator during his A Time for Choosing speech, by using
unprecedented rhetorical strategies in order to create and unify an audience around his new
conservative populism. This paper will first provide historical context for the speech, then the paper
will address the

Duality Of Fate In King Lear
Astronomy harkens back thousands of years to the very beginning of man s attempt to understand and
control the natural world that exists around him. The stars, moon, and planets are more than just
celestial bodies suspended in the black vacuum of space; they have long been used as a tool and
consulting device to portend the future and command one s destiny. In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of
King Lear, Lord Gloucester and his illegitimate son, Edmund, exemplify the paradoxical duality of
fate; it being both an inflexible predetermined course, but also malleable enough to allow the free will
of individuals.
Gloucester, both at the parental and societal level, uses the rigidity of fate as an excuse to not take
personal responsibility for his actions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edmund sees his father as an ignorant fool, relying upon the irrationalities and capriciousness of the
moon and stars to govern important decisions. Edmund easily manipulates his father into believing
that Edgar is a traitor, thereby condemning his brother to exilement and death, while increasing his
own favor with their father. Chuckling at his Gloucester s absurdity, he states we make guilty of our
own disasters, the sun, the moon, and stars, as of we were villains on necessity; fools by heavenly
compulsion (I.ii.127 129). While his father is resolute in his convictions of external forces controlling
a person s destiny, Edmund ardently believes in the free will of individuals, and refuses to be a passive
force in his own life. On the other hand, like his father, Edmund uses his interpretation of fate in order
to justify his schemes. By setting up a series of events to kill his brother, he will inherit the power,
prestige, and wealth that he could never attain on his own, being destined for a pauper s life. Further
condemning the use of astrology as a correct science, Edmund rejects the idea that my nativity was
under Ursa Major, so that it follows I am rough and lecherous...I should have been that I am (I.ii.137

The Legal Test Of Causation And Factual Causation
Remoteness refers to the legal test of causation which is used when determining types of loss caused
by a breach of contract or duty which can be compensated by the award of damages. There is a
difference between legal causation and factual causation because of that question arises whether
damages resulted from breach of contract or duty. In contract law Hadley v Baxendale is the
traditional test for remoteness.Test is in essence a test of forseeabilty. The loss is only recoverable if it
was in contemplation of parties.English Law relating to remoteness of damages in contracts is no
more vague as it was a century back when the Hadley test was nothing but words twisted around. Hol
has changed its shift in approach which is more subjective now in terms of intention of parties..It can
be suggested that agreement based approach to remoteness could be possibly be extended to non
pecuniary losses and certain areas of law of torts.. Purpose of contractual damages under english law
is to protect the innocent party and put it in a position where it would have been if the contract had not
been breached. In order to prove its damages a party must show that the law was reasonably
foreseeable at time of completion of contract. Parties are supposed to have certain knowledge when
they enter contract and such knowledge which reasonable person is assumed to know in the ordinary
course of thing. Parties are taken to foresee loss which is not likely to happen because of breach of
contract

A Comparison Of Glaciers
Glaciers and icecaps can be easily mistaken in a common conversation but there are many similarities
but there are big differences that classify them as two different things.
A glacier is a body of dense ice that is formed in areas where the amount of snowfall exceeds the
amount of snow melted per year such as: Greenland, Antarctica and Russia. It forms when snow
accumulates in one specific area over many years, possibly centuries. The snow slowly forms into ice
and each year the layer of ice increases depending on the temperature. When the glacier becomes large
and heavy enough the pressure from the weight of the glacier often deforms the glacier, Which usually
causes the glacier to get new feature such crevasses and seracs. Most glaciers

Social Media And Its Effect On Self Image
Would you consider yourself an important person? The majority of young people in today s society
would say that they indeed are important, as opposed to the very few numbers of people who felt this
way in the 1950 s, according to Jean Twenge in her book Generation Me. Debora Lima agrees with
Twenge and suggests that this is caused by social media in her article Social media plays large part in
self image. Cathy Payne also agrees as she explains the inflation of cosmetic surgeries in her article
Botox or your bills? Plastic surgery wins out. Twenge, Payne, and Lima all agree that there is a change
in self image in today s young society, yet they all argue different sub points on this subject. Overall,
there has been a noticeable change in self image.
In chapter 2 An Army of One: Me of Generation Me, Jean Twenge discusses self image. First, she
explains how Gen Me ers are focused on the self and how their self esteem is much higher than Baby
Boomers . The author reports how children are encouraged to focus on themselves. This sometimes
creates narcissism instead, declares the author. Another thing brought up is how teachers are beginning
to not criticize students because it may damage their self esteem. To conclude, Twenge argues how
Gen Me ers have a positive self image, but this may not be a good thing (Twenge 44 71).
While discussing the change in self image, Twenge s target audience is comprised of Gen Me ers and
Baby Boomers. Both of these groups would

Cool Jazz Research Paper
Yes, I feel the term cool jazz is a good one to describe the music of Stan Getz, Chet Baker, and Miles
Davis because they re sound was softer than that of Bop. They rarely used vibrato and played with low
levels of volume. The sound they displayed was that of a relaxing feeling. Their music wasn t as loud
and complex as the sound of Bop. It is very mellow and subdued, and the term cool fits it perfectly.
Hard Bop was played mainly from East Coast and Midwest Musicians. It evolved directly from bop
during the 1950s, and was relatively neglected by the public. Cool Jazz on the other hand, consisted of
mainly West Coast musicians. Some of the players of cool jazz are among the most popular musicians

Every time a customer comes to your service department for any reason, you have an opportunity to

their service department only when they have repair needs they are not sure of, and go to secondary
repair and maintenance shops for things like oil changes, brake service or tires. This is usually because
they believe these kinds of things to be less expensive in outside shops than they are at their
dealership, which is not necessarily so. But, if no one tells them that how will they know?
Many people neglect to perform preventive maintenance on their vehicles because they have not been
properly informed of the value it brings to them. The may have little or no knowledge of such things
and may be intimidated about asking. Certainly, this is an important part of the job of a service
advisor. Often, because of the negative light that has been focused in recent years on abusive up
selling practices, a service advisors fails to offer

Why Cartoon Villains Speak In Foreign Accents Summary
The information that a child learns at a young age translates into their adult lives, too. In the article
Why Do Cartoon Villains Speak in Foreign Accents? , author Isabel Fattal details sociolinguist Calvin
Gidney s studies by using his research to explain how repeatedly associating foreign accents with
villains could have a negative effect on how children think and engage with diversity in the United
States. The author s usage of evidence was thorough. In agreeance to the author, I do believe that
media can affect the way that a child perceives diversity because children are credulous, which makes
them easier to deceive. Why Do Cartoon Villains Speak in Foreign Accents? is about Calvin Gidney s
observations and analysis of language patterns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article only presented one side of the argument without acknowledging the other side, which
leaves loopholes and leeway in their argument to speculate other reasons for why foreign accents are
given to villains. Nevertheless, the article contained an ample amount of details and evidence. The
author argues that this correlation can render a negative connotation to kids as they start to
comprehend diversity. To be diverse means to be different. Children can sometimes use the character s
accent to distinguish who the protagonist and antagonist are. Notably, the article reads, The common
denominator in all of these vague foreign accents is the binary distinction of like us versus not like us.
Villainy is marked just by sounding different (Fattal). I agree with the author s statement. Just by
looking at two different people you can already notice the distinctive features between them. One
conversation with a stranger could also determine if they are like me or not based on the way that they
talk. However, as children grow they start to learn right from wrong, and they might think a person
that does not talk like them is the

New England Colonies
New England is the name given to the Northeastern location of the United States, encompassing
Massachusetts to Maine. The name New England comes from Captain John Smith, famous explorer of
the Chesapeake region, who wrote a piece about the abundance of resources and wealth of the region
in a propaganda piece, A Description of New England, in 1616. However, the New England region
that is known today is nowhere near a literal new England. Due to differences in religious beliefs,
climate and geography, and economies, the New England colonies were vastly different from their
Crown and home. However, a few hundred miles south, the colonies around the Chesapeake were
strikingly similar to Britain, due to their social hierarchy, climates, and ... Show more content on

They were created for profit. When people started dying and no money was being made, the colonies
quickly learned how to sustain themselves and turned permanent. The area was ripe for plantations
and mass farming. Tobacco became the most desired thing out of the colonies, and it could be sold at
exorbitant prices. As more people heard of the wealth in the New World farming, more people came to
set up plantations. As such, more people were needed to facilitate the farming: Slaves. The British
looked to Africa and gathered chattel slaves, who were prisoners; those sold out by other tribes, or
even sold out by their own families. The slaves were loaded up on a ship, sent to the Caribbean, and
then sent to the colonies to be sold. The profits they made would be shipped back to England, and the
English would got to Africa to get even more slaves. This triangular trade became a huge portion of
the New World economy. As the plantations grew in size, more people heard of the successes, and
more people came. Not only did people come just by hearing of the successes, the government of
Virginia established a headright system, or a provision that stated that any person who settled in
Virginia or paid for the transportation expenses of another person who settled in Virginia should be
entitled to receive fifty acres of land for each immigrant (Gentry). These incentives caused many
people to flock to the plantations to try and make money. The ones who came and who had a lot of
land had, like back in England, a lot of power. Aristocrats started popping up, gaining control of the
areas around them. Following the English way, these aristocrats became the ones in control of more or
less everything, be it land, government positions, jobs, etc. These aristocrats did not bother with
schools in the Americas, of which there were very few in the south, and just sent their kids back to
England to learn.

John Collier The Chaser
John Collier is a British author and screenplay writer. Collier wrote the short story The Chaser which
was sometime around the 1940s. The story is about Alan Austen a young man who is in love with a
young woman name Diana. He is looking for ways to improve his relationship with her. Alan talks to
the old man who has knowledge about magic potions and the old man guarantees to Alan it will have
lifelong effects of love. The point of this story explains about two people finding ways to improve

predicting the future for Alan and how positive and exactly that Alan is looking for, improving his
relationship. This explains that Alan trusts the old man because he has knowledge about the outcome
when a customer buys his potions. In my analysis, I went over about the explanation of Alan s
conversation with the old man and why Alan wondered how the potions worked. The old man gives
the benefit of the doubt to Alan the price of the love potion which is only $1. The old man goes on to
say about the benefits of the love potion that it will improve Alan s relationship with Diana like a
happily ever after. My thoughts on the story is ok for me because in my opinion, Alan was fooled by
the old man who gave him a love potion that is only $1. It seems that there is a catch on this because
the old man keeps boasting on how perfect life can be. It would seem fishy on why the old man would
give away the love potion especially when the glass looked dirty. Could Alan be right? Or what if the
old man was right about the wonders of the love

The And White Collar Crime
1. Literature Review
Crimes have been occurring in our society for many years and recently the occurrence of non violent
crimes has increased dramatically. Traditional and white collar crimes have two traits in common, an
objective and a modus operandi, but the major difference is that a white collar criminal has a plan and
also the ability, knowledge and technology to execute it (Nevis, 2012).
White collar crimes can occur at any occupational level and affects all parts of society, from big
businesses to individuals. Some associate the definition of white collar crime mainly to economic
crime, but others include corporate crimes like environmental law violations and health and safety law
violations (Barnett, 1999). It is interesting to note that corporate crimes such as environmental
pollution typically involve corporate personnel on various levels for purposes of implementation, from
CEOs to low level workers (Payne, 2013). Overall this project will deal with environmental and white
collar crime outlining the similarities and differences between those.
1.1 White collar crime
1.1.1 Definition and theory
Recently the issue of white collar crime has gained a lot of attention and it is quite common to notice
such cases in any part of the world. The term itself is rather old as it was coined by Edwin Sunderland
in 1939 and white collar crime is defined as crime committed by a person of respectability and high
social status in the course of his occupation (Payne, 2013). The

Applying Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the...
The classic stories Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
consist of dreamlike adventures in a crazy world of nonsense. However this nonsense can be
deciphered into a complex new system of thinking. This way of thinking can be transferred and
directly applied to the mind. How the mind works, its many varying functions, and lastly the
unconscious mind can all be tied to Alice. The unconscious mind can be compared to Alice, as can a
dreamlike state of mind. In the first book Lewis Carroll wrote, it never states that Alice is dreaming. It
does infer that she is, though, by way of saying it was a warm day, which would make one drowsy.
You can imagine slowly drifting off and all of the sudden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in her unconscious mind, she creates a new world of her own, filled to the brim with nonsense. As
she goes on to explore it, her adventures lead her to the conclusion that society has these rules for a
reason. Alice appears to be more mature at the end of this dream, showing you can learn from
yourself, through your unconscious mind.
The part of the brain that controls dreams is called the Pons. This region of brain near the base of the
skull transports information to the thalamus, which controls the learning and thinking aspects of the
brain. Sigmund Freud believed that dreams acted as a safety valve for desires. This could mean that
Alice truly wanted a world of ridiculousness, but knew better, but just had to prove it to herself,
subconsciously. Thus, it was like a safety net, because she never really did any of the nonsensical
things, but still learned from it. (NINDS)
To put it in a way, we ARE Alice. We can be relatively compared to her, psychologically. Alice is
confused in her mind, and hates the way things are. She doesn t see the reason behind some things. We
can be that way about things at times. Alice learned from her dreams though, before she went berserk.
This happens to us too, in a way. It may not be in a dream, but in any type of sudden realization, about
what we could not understand before, now makes sense with new information. Once we realize
something, we can use it to our use. Once Alice

The Celluloid Closet Movie Analysis
The Celluloid Closet is a documentary directed/written by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. The
film shows numerous clips of actors who act in the role as a gay, bisexual, transgender, or a lesbian
character. This movie gives the audience a great insight of what it like to make a movie like that in
Hollywood. They interview men and women who either portray as a character in the film, by giving
their personal experience what it like to be that character they portray, or either directed/written a
movie about it. In the beginning of the film, the word SISSY is a trait in a boy or a man that associate
with feminine behavior or style. It can also be a woman with muscular traits.
Does Sissy liberate? Yes, Hollywood allowed it. Sissy s was never open about their sexuality they
were mainly like a subliminal in a film. The subject was never discussed privately or even in public,
but you knew by the behavior of the men or women. Hollywood industry felt that if a man dress as a
woman they think it comedy. When a woman dress as a man they think she look pretty or sexy for
both men and women. Looking through the history of homosexual, gay and lesbian films, you can see
the progress, but you can also see the era in the time when people at once was afraid to now people are
more open. For example, in the 1920s people was more scared to come out and be who they are. At
the time not, much actors wanted to act or portray as homosexual because they thought it will ruin

Danube River represents the river closest to the papal city through the figure touching Pope s personal

navigability. Lastly, the Rio de la Plata is sitting on gold, which symbolizes the America s possibilities
for wealth for Europe. In addition, the la Plata figure is fearful of a snake, which represents the fear
that the money could be stolen. It is rumored that Bernini put the la Plata figure in front of his rival s

baroque style by being very theatrical and making the viewer walk around the entire statue. This work

Christopher Columbus Essay
On October 12, 1492, two worlds unknown to each other met for the first time on a small island in the
Caribbean Sea. While on a voyage for Spain in search of a direct sea route from Europe to Asia,
Christopher Columbus accidentally discovered the Americas. However, in four separate voyages to the
Caribbean from 1492 to 1504, he remained convinced that he had found the lands that Marco Polo
reached in his overland travels to China at the end of the 13th century. To Columbus it was only a
matter of time before a passage was found through the Caribbean islands to the cities of Asia.

The first European nation to begin actively looking for a sea route to Asia was Portugal. The
Portuguese had already begun exploring Africa in the early 1400s, and in 1415 they invaded northern
Africa and conquered the Muslim community. This gained the Portuguese access to the African trade,
which, until that time, had been dominated by the Muslims. The Portuguese began exploring the
western coast of Africa, hoping to find a route to the riches of Asia by going around the southern tip of
the continent. Other nations, not wanting to be left behind, began sponsoring voyages of exploration
as well.
Columbus s father was Domenico Colombo, a wool weaver who was also involved in local politics.
His mother was Suzanna Fontanarossa, the daughter of a wool weaver. The oldest of five children was
Christopher he had three brothers and one sister. When Columbus sailed the earth everyone thought
that the world was flat and if he sailed to far that he would eventually fall off the edge of the earth.
When Christopher went on his voyage to the Americas when he landed, he thought he landed on the
Indian islands and so that is was we call the Native Americans Indians. When the Europeans came to
the Americas they brought a lot of diseases with them like, measles, smallpox, and malaria and the flu.

My Experience With Attending An Elite
My Experience with Attending an A.A. and Alanon Meeting As a part of our class assignment we were

found that they were more interesting than I could have imagined. I am not quite sure what I expected,
but the environment held a serene spirit that I normally encounter at church. I attributed this fact, to
the point that the name of God was called on often and the people were singing his praises. Observing

Musical Theatre As A Theatrical Performance
Musical Theatre is a theatrical performance when the story is told through dialogue, song, and dance.
Back then, people didn t Snap Chat, Face Time or watch TV for entertainment; they would go to the
Theatre for a night out, first date, etc. To give a more definitive description of how musicals evolved,
affected, and influenced throughout history, a time line of major musicals that defined certain stages of
Musical Theatre will probably help people understand what makes it so unique.
Now a quick history lesson, Musical Theatre technically was created in 5th Century BCE Ancient
Greece, when staged comedies and tragedies would be told with a bit music and dance...but Musicals
didn t fully emerge into the world until the early 20th Century when the art form went to London,
England, and then to America, which formed the famous theatre district, Broadway. Now that the
basics are covered of where Musical Theatre came from, this paper is more about how Broadway
Musicals evolved into what they are in present day, how people have reacted to such performances,
and how musical theatre has impacted not only America, but also the world.
The first era of Musical Theatre actually started in the 1920 s 1930 s during the Great Depression.
This was a the first time there were musicals other than the fun, young, and enjoyable shows, the first
example of this would be the musical Show Boat, which premiered in December 1927, the music was

positive now for Peter Pan. Audiences from all over the world still adore this play. Today, it still has a

Barrie was born on May 9, 1860 in Kirriemuir Forfarshire, Scotland. He graduated Edinburgh
University in 1882 (J.M. Barrie), and later moved to London to pursue his passion in playwright (J.M.
Barrie Biography). He also worked as a journalist before. Barrie was already a hit for his many
successful novels, books, and plays. He liked to take long walks in London s Kensington Garden, and
there he met the five brothers who inspired his most famous play. He was very fond of the Llewelyn
family, and often play around with them (J.M. Barrie Biography). Barrie took care of them after their
parents passed away and became their guardian. The boys names were George, Jack, Peter Michael,
and Nicholas. It is said that the story Peter Pan was to entertain the boys. Barrie then made it into a
play to help support them after he had taken them in. Peter Pan then became a huge success.
Writing Career
Barrie explored many genres in his writing career. He went from being a weaver s son to writing
novels, books, and plays; he also challenged himself to write different genres (Avery, G). His first
book, Auld Licht Idylls in 1888 was successful along with his several books, and novels. After 1897,
he focused more on writing for the theatre, in which later he wrote Peter Pan. Peter Pan was first
performed in London on 27 Dec. 1904 (Barrie, J.M.). An excerpt from Peter Pan When Wendy grows

Symbolism In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
In the book hatchet there is a main theme, the theme is to symbolize survival in a harsh place. I think
this is the main theme because there is significant textual evidence Brian survives for about 54 days.
This is also shown when Brian tries and gets the medical kit inside the plane. So basically the
Symbolism of this book is to survive. Also, he uses his hatchet in some parts of the book to make and
build his fort. How would you react if you were in his situation? Would you be in a position to
survive?
In one of the scenes in Hatchet Gary Paulsen uses repetition. In one of the scenes of the book Bryan
thought to himself I am rich, rich with food now, just rich... He described the berries in the book as
Sweet and not as distasteful as the gut cherries. One effect of this is to show how grateful Bryan is to
find food and to show how desperate he was. Bryan acts like he has just found a gold mine when he
tastes the rich berries. This shows the main character in this book is super happy. This relates to the
theme because it depicts survival by Brian finding the berries. ... Show more content on

In the book Bryan describes the winds as Fierce wind that ripped through the forest. one effect this
author helps show is that it s hard to live in the forest. Bryan acts like he was amazed of how much
damage some winds could do to the forest. I think this shows that the author is descriptive with his
writing and his literary devices. This symbolizes survival because he was observant of his
surroundings. This is also one of the many things that help Bryan

phenomena at a very early age due to being at her father s research site which was often the woods in

Examples Of Accounting Firms Showing Signs Of Economic Growth
Accounting Firms Showing Signs of Economic Growth
Although accounting has often been described as a profession and industry that is fairly recessionary
proof, is that really true? For the foreseeable future, individuals and businesses still need CPAs and
accountants to prepare and file tax. Companies still require audits. The consulting and advisory
services many accountants specialize in will continue to be in demand. If everyone, seemingly, needs
an accountant, then the industry hasn t suffered . . . has it? Accounting firms are a good barometer for
the US economy. You probably noticed during the last several years that revenues at some of the
largest accounting firms declined. Your own revenues may have as well, especially in ... Show more

Richardson Epistolary Style
Samuel Richardson is an English writer who published during 18th century. He is famious for his
three epistolary novels: Pamela: Or, Virtue Rewarded (1740), Clarissa: Or the History of a Young
Lady (1748) and The History of Sir Charles Grandison (1753). Richardson s career was unusual for
literature. He started to write when he was fifty years old but his creativity was still young. The
History of Mrs. Beaumont is Richardson s last novel but it is unfinished. It is the story of a lady‚
whom „his soul loved and it proves that Richardson s creativity was still working until the day he
died. He liked to think about his self as being a hero of an unhappy love story. By using the epistolary
form in his novels, Richardson wanted to induce the image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Driven by clear moralistic intentions, he wrote the epistolary novel Pamela as a realistic sentimental
parable based on an exemplary adventure. The initial area of conflict is defined morally, in foreground
being the rich seducer whose mother dies, Mr. B. and his maid, Pamela Andrews. Richardson made in
this way a sentimental tearful prose. The evolution of the plot is reproduced firstly by long letters of
Pamela to her parents and by their responses. Dialog items, indeed reduced, are also introduced in
these fictitious letters. The style is constantly punctuated by moralizing judgments and appeals to
virtue, strongly standing out the echo of Puritan moral propagated by Richardson. Basic terms of
conflict result from the aggressive behavior of the master tempted to seduce the maid and her worthy
resistance, although she was in love with him. Sentimental parable has a happy ending. Converted to
virtue by the young girl, Mr. B. who repents for his intentions, he proposed her a marriage. The
victory of a simple and pure person just emphasizes once again the cautionary lesson from this work.
The story is complex: the main heroine is Pamela Andrews, a beautiful 15 years old who was working
as a maidservant in Bedfordshire. She was an innocent, pious and virtuous girl. After the death of
Lady B, she remained due to her wish as a servant in the house. Mr. B, the new country landowner
master after his mother death, started to make advances towards the young servant. He tried to seduce
against her will and wanted to pay her to keep the secret about his mistake, but Pamela refused and
told the stories of his attempts to the housekeeper, Mrs. Jervis. One night he was hidden in her room
and tried to kiss and after this event the poor girl decided to go back to her impoverished parents to
preserve her virtue. He proposed her to marry the chaplain from Lincolnshire, Mr. Williams, but she
refused and was decided to go

The Justice And Restorative Justice
Punishment is not necessarily the answer for young offenders, as crime is a gesture for help in many
cases, and punishment focused approaches don t allow young individuals the chance to understand the
implications of their actions through a victim s perspective (Choi, Green, and Gilbert 337). Policies
and practices for youths need to fulfill more than entrapment and punishment, providing rationale for
restorative justice (337). Crimes committed by young individuals are often minor, first time acts which
can be mediated and addressed through the proactive administration of restorative rehabilitation,
which often prevents recidivism. Restorative justice is a process where all parties involved in a
particular offense come together in order to collectively resolve the aftermath and future implications
of the specific crime (Roche 343). Restorative justice is the the ideal response for the majority of
youth involved in criminal activity, as it s a rehabilitative method that produces positive healing
processes and outcomes, especially in comparison to retributive justice approaches.
Martin Wright explains that restorative justice involves a fundamental change in the response a society
has towards individuals who harm one another. Wright elaborates that this terminology shifts the
meaning of crime, stressing the fact that people are harmed, rather than a crime was broken (Wright
216). This highlights the ultimate source of restorative justice, and its strong relationship with

Satire In Voltaire s Candide
Voltaire s fast moving satire is a book full of sarcastic outlooks on the worst the world has to offer.
The story mocks the outlook that we live in the best possible world by putting characters in the worst
possible situation. Rape, slavery, mass death, and cannibalism are some of the few disaster take place
in the story, humorously cushioned with the ideals of vanity, love, and finding fortune. Candide is the
main character in the story, walking readers through a book full of chaos. Despite being the main
character of this story Candide has few redeeming qualities, he is naïve, quick to violence, doesn t
seem to think through his actions to the fullest. He begins with an overly simple understanding of how
the world works. His teacher Panglass teaches him that Candide is living in the best ... Show more

uncle s home. Candide at this time in the story has no true understanding of the world and this leads
him from bad to worse. He is tossed in the army where Voltaire shows that there is no winning in war
and that the army can be a savage place. Candide is almost killed by his fellow soldiers for the simple
act of taking a walk and later after running from the army sees the horrors of war after discovering two
villages. The two villagers are on opposite sides of the war; but both have been plundered, men and
children killed, and the women raped. During the entire story Candide finds himself is horrible

Analysis Of The Movie Fight Club
In the movie Fight Club we are introduced to an average, white collared, middle aged man who is
seemingly normal at first glance. However, it is clear that the narrator suffers from insomnia, anxiety,
and depression very early in the film. The narrator attempts to combat these symptoms in a number of
ways, however, the only way that he has found to be effective is by attending support groups on a
nightly basis.
The narrator soon creates an alter ego (though we do not know he is his alter ego until the end of the
film) named Tyler Durden. Durden is more attractive, has a better physique, and is overall more
confident than the narrator and Durden regularly takes control of the narrator without the narrator s
knowledge to carry out tasks that the narrator does not believe he has the power to accomplish. This
use of dissociation is a defense mechanism used by the narrator to remove himself from situations that
may produce anxiety. The narrator has many instances in which he is not able to recollect things that
happened that day or in previous days, such as having sexual relations with Marla (the narrator
envisions Tyler having sexual relations with Marla, while it is him having sexual relations with
Marla). However, it is difficult to reason through whether or not he is having these memory lapses due
to a true dissociative identity disorder (DID) or perhaps due to physical trauma that was sustained
through his fighting. Although the narrator is seen consuming an alcoholic

  • 2. The Purpose Of The Naturalization Process The naturalization process for an individual starts when that individual wishes to become an American citizen. After an interest has been established, the individual can then start with the naturalization process. The person I interviewed said that she wanted the convenience of traveling without a visa. After she completed the required tests and was given her certificate of citizenship she became an official citizen. The purpose of the naturalization process is to admit people to the status of an American citizen. This is done through series of examinations and a fee to see if the individual is eligible to become a citizen. One check done before being admitted was seeing if the applicant had good moral character. Eligibility for being a citizen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Happy, The Truth Of Happiness In the documentary Freakonomics, the basic theme follows the idea of breaking beyond the system, and what the system says that you are going to be. With a different documentary called Happy, happiness is explained by the way happiness is achieved; it says that happiness is based around love and a positive attitude. Together, the documentaries Happy and Freakonomics examine and prove the statement that your destiny is determined by you and what you perceive life. In the documentary Happy, the truth of happiness is shown through the love of others. Along with that Freakonomics goes into depth the truth that who you think you are determined to be, and who you could be. The two documentaries amplify and improve around this idea that, breaking out of the norms of life, we can become extraordinary people. To truly have a life of purpose, according to the documentary Happy you need to be happy with what you have. In the beginning of the documentary Happy people were in the documentary, were asked what they wanted to get out of life, and most of them said to be happy or to achieve the American dream, to be happy . In Happy, the focus revolves around the basic idea of happiness and that we need to achieve this awareness of true happiness is to do what we love: ...the things we love to do are the building blocks of a happy life. • 4. Hip Hop And The Music Genre What is Hip Hop? According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Hip Hop can be delineated as a music genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.1 Originating from a disparaged subculture in the South Bronx and eagerly spreading through other sectors of New York City during the 1970 s, Hip Hop evolved from formerly being a relatively fraudulent style to currently being a commercialized and disseminated music genre among diverse areas around the globe. Hip hop s evolution into a composition distinct from R B ensued around the time that drum machines and sampling technology became widely available to the general public at a financially affordable cost for the average consumer. Turntablist techniques (i.e. scratching, beat mixing, matching, and beat juggling) ultimately developed along with the breaks, producing a base that could be rapped over, in a manner similar to signifying, as well as percussive breaks (an influence found in Jamaican dub music). The art of manipulating sound and creating illustrious music were few of the techniques that identified the aeon of the hip hop genre: Three of whom will be presented The Diamond Era (1983 1988), The Golden Era (1989 1993), and The Silver Age (1994 1998). To commence, the first era (The Diamond Era) arose in the year 1983. Although Hip Hop emerged before 1983, The Diamond era predates the introduction of a new foundation to the hip hop genre with ... Helen of Troy, Joan of Arc and Amelia Earhart are few of the women that we can consider warrior women. • 6. Health Care Benefits According to the textbook, there are three things that the ACA is making sure it is getting done. The first one is that the law is making sure that coverage is affordable for people that have low to moderate income and they lack employer insurance through expanding Medicaid programs. Second, the law is making sure that there is no one that will be denied coverage because they are poor, elderly, or have pre existing condition through insurance rating reforms. The third aim is including the individual mandate that penalizes people that are not enrolled in any health care coverage. The penalty is $95 or 1% of the family s income in 2014, $325 or 2% of income in 2015, and $695 or 2.5% of income in 2016 which increases every year without any insurance ... At the beginning of the novel, Alex and his droogs (friends), Pete, Georgie, and Dim are at the Kovova Milkbar, roaming the streets and committing violent acts during night. Alex and his droogs encounter an old man who is drunk and is singing a sentimental song. Alex instantly chooses the path of evil with the free will that he encompasses, and along with his droogs they beat the old man while laughing at his misery. The old man complains about the stinking world and says, It s a stinking world because it lets the young get on to the old like you done, and there s no law nor order no more. (Part 2, Chapter 2, Page 12) At night, Alex uses violence and chooses to beat, rape, and murder innocent people because it shows that he has freedom of choice and has authority and power in society. The criminalization of alcohols serves to demonstrate how personal choice can be incorporated under institutionalized morality. Furthermore, the setting creates a distance between reality and the subject of the film for the more conservative viewer, which is one of the justifications as to why the film was done in black and white. The film is a crafty combination of many components including a spoof of period gangster films, romance in screwball comedies, and gender reversal and cross dressing. Evidently, one of the major themes in the film is disguise and masquerade. In its time, Some Like It Hot was the highest grossing comedy, one of the most successful films in 1959, and undoubtedly Wilder s funniest comedy. The film was based on a German movie, Fanfares of Love, directed by Kurt Hoffmann with similar plot elements borrowed by Wilder. The events in the movie were inspired by the infamous St. Valentine s Day Massacre in Chicago. At the time of its release, the United States was at the end of the repressive 1950 s and the studio system was weakened as a result of censorship restrictions. The film received much criticism for its risqué subjects of double entendre dialogue and gender bending theme. • 15. Distributed Lag Model For Money Supply And Price... CHAPTER EIGHT DISTRIBUTED LAG MODEL FOR MONEY SUPPLY AND PRICE RELATIONSHIP 8.1 Distributed Lag Model The economic variable Y is affected by not only the value of X at the same time t but also by its lagged values plus some disturbance term i.e.X_t,X_(t 1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t.this can be written in the functional form as: 〖Y_t=f(X〗_t,X_(t 1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t) In linear form, Y_t=α+β_0 X_t+β_1 X_(t 1)+β_2 X_(t 2)+⋯+β_j X_(t k)+ε_t (8.1) Where, β_0 is known as the short run multiplier, or impact multiplier because it gives the change in the mean value of Y_t following a unit change of X_tin the same time period. If the change of X_t is maintained at the same level thereafter, then, (β_0+β_1) gives the change in the mean value of Y_t in the next period, (β_0 + β_1+β_2) in the following period, and so on. These partial sums are called interim or intermediate multiplier. Finally, after k periods, that is =β, therefore ∑▒β_i is called the long run multiplier or total multiplier, or distributed lag multiplier. If we define the standardized β_i^* = β_i/(∑▒β_i ) then it gives the proportion of the long run, or total, impact felt by a certain period of time. In order for the distributed lag model to make sense, the lag coefficients must tend to zero as k. This is not to say that 2 is smaller than 1; it only means that the impact of X_(t k)on Y_t must eventually become small as k gets large. The distributed lag plays ... Our leaders have won and lost our favor with organized speech since before the signing of the declaration of independence. With a well written speech, and a practiced delivery, one man can change the views of our entire country. No one has done this more successfully than Ronald Reagan. When Ronald Reagan gave the televised speech A Time for Choosing for the Barry Goldwater Campaign in 1964, he changed the way that American campaign speeches would be given forever. According to critics, his performance is the most effective of its kind, prompting comparisons to William Jennings Bryan as a great American speaker and earning him the title of The Great Communicator. Despite the wide acclaim, the speech did not work as Goldwater lost the election by a cavernous margin. So, why was his speech considered a success if the candidate it was supposed to bolster did not even win the election? While many explanations are offered about the success of this speech by scholars, this paper will focus on the most widely supported school of thought, The Teflon President . More formally, this paper will argue that Reagan solidifies his identity as The Great Communicator during his A Time for Choosing speech, by using unprecedented rhetorical strategies in order to create and unify an audience around his new conservative populism. The stars, moon, and planets are more than just celestial bodies suspended in the black vacuum of space; they have long been used as a tool and consulting device to portend the future and command one s destiny. In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of King Lear, Lord Gloucester and his illegitimate son, Edmund, exemplify the paradoxical duality of fate; it being both an inflexible predetermined course, but also malleable enough to allow the free will of individuals. Chuckling at his Gloucester s absurdity, he states we make guilty of our own disasters, the sun, the moon, and stars, as of we were villains on necessity; fools by heavenly compulsion (I.ii.127 129). While his father is resolute in his convictions of external forces controlling a person s destiny, Edmund ardently believes in the free will of individuals, and refuses to be a passive force in his own life. On the other hand, like his father, Edmund uses his interpretation of fate in order to justify his schemes. By setting up a series of events to kill his brother, he will inherit the power, prestige, and wealth that he could never attain on his own, being destined for a pauper s life. Further condemning the use of astrology as a correct science, Edmund rejects the idea that my nativity was under Ursa Major, so that it follows I am rough and lecherous...I should have been that I am (I.ii.137 140). The Legal Test Of Causation And Factual Causation Remoteness refers to the legal test of causation which is used when determining types of loss caused by a breach of contract or duty which can be compensated by the award of damages. There is a difference between legal causation and factual causation because of that question arises whether damages resulted from breach of contract or duty. In contract law Hadley v Baxendale is the traditional test for remoteness.Test is in essence a test of forseeabilty. The loss is only recoverable if it was in contemplation of parties.English Law relating to remoteness of damages in contracts is no more vague as it was a century back when the Hadley test was nothing but words twisted around. Hol has changed its shift in approach which is more subjective now in terms of intention of parties..It can be suggested that agreement based approach to remoteness could be possibly be extended to non pecuniary losses and certain areas of law of torts.. Purpose of contractual damages under english law is to protect the innocent party and put it in a position where it would have been if the contract had not been breached. In order to prove its damages a party must show that the law was reasonably foreseeable at time of completion of contract. Parties are supposed to have certain knowledge when they enter contract and such knowledge which reasonable person is assumed to know in the ordinary course of thing. A Comparison Of Glaciers Glaciers and icecaps can be easily mistaken in a common conversation but there are many similarities but there are big differences that classify them as two different things. A glacier is a body of dense ice that is formed in areas where the amount of snowfall exceeds the amount of snow melted per year such as: Greenland, Antarctica and Russia. It forms when snow accumulates in one specific area over many years, possibly centuries. The snow slowly forms into ice and each year the layer of ice increases depending on the temperature. When the glacier becomes large and heavy enough the pressure from the weight of the glacier often deforms the glacier, Which usually causes the glacier to get new feature such crevasses and seracs. • 20. Social Media And Its Effect On Self Image Would you consider yourself an important person? The majority of young people in today s society would say that they indeed are important, as opposed to the very few numbers of people who felt this way in the 1950 s, according to Jean Twenge in her book Generation Me. Debora Lima agrees with Twenge and suggests that this is caused by social media in her article Social media plays large part in self image. Cathy Payne also agrees as she explains the inflation of cosmetic surgeries in her article Botox or your bills? Plastic surgery wins out. Twenge, Payne, and Lima all agree that there is a change in self image in today s young society, yet they all argue different sub points on this subject. Overall, there has been a noticeable change in self image. In chapter 2 An Army of One: Me of Generation Me, Jean Twenge discusses self image. First, she explains how Gen Me ers are focused on the self and how their self esteem is much higher than Baby Boomers . The author reports how children are encouraged to focus on themselves. This sometimes creates narcissism instead, declares the author. Another thing brought up is how teachers are beginning to not criticize students because it may damage their self esteem. To conclude, Twenge argues how Gen Me ers have a positive self image, but this may not be a good thing (Twenge 44 71). While discussing the change in self image, Twenge s target audience is comprised of Gen Me ers and Baby Boomers. Both of these groups would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They rarely used vibrato and played with low levels of volume. The sound they displayed was that of a relaxing feeling. Their music wasn t as loud and complex as the sound of Bop. It is very mellow and subdued, and the term cool fits it perfectly. Hard Bop was played mainly from East Coast and Midwest Musicians. It evolved directly from bop during the 1950s, and was relatively neglected by the public. Cool Jazz on the other hand, consisted of mainly West Coast musicians. If your service advisors are not actively selling preventative maintenance on a continuous basis, they are leaving money on the table that should be easy enough to get. This is especially true if they know customers from dealing with them in the past and have access to their maintenance history and repair records. It s a matter of being proactive with your customers and explaining the real value of staying ahead in the repair and maintenance game. Every time a customer comes to your service department for any reason, you have an opportunity to sell them on preventative maintenance that may not come your way again. Often, customers go to their service department only when they have repair needs they are not sure of, and go to secondary repair and maintenance shops for things like oil changes, brake service or tires. This is usually because they believe these kinds of things to be less expensive in outside shops than they are at their dealership, which is not necessarily so. But, if no one tells them that how will they know? Many people neglect to perform preventive maintenance on their vehicles because they have not been properly informed of the value it brings to them. The may have little or no knowledge of such things and may be intimidated about asking. Certainly, this is an important part of the job of a service advisor. The author s usage of evidence was thorough. To be diverse means to be different. Children can sometimes use the character s accent to distinguish who the protagonist and antagonist are. Notably, the article reads, The common denominator in all of these vague foreign accents is the binary distinction of like us versus not like us. Villainy is marked just by sounding different (Fattal). I agree with the author s statement. Just by looking at two different people you can already notice the distinctive features between them. However, the New England region that is known today is nowhere near a literal new England. They were created for profit. When people started dying and no money was being made, the colonies quickly learned how to sustain themselves and turned permanent. The area was ripe for plantations and mass farming. Tobacco became the most desired thing out of the colonies, and it could be sold at exorbitant prices. As more people heard of the wealth in the New World farming, more people came to set up plantations. As such, more people were needed to facilitate the farming: Slaves. The British looked to Africa and gathered chattel slaves, who were prisoners; those sold out by other tribes, or even sold out by their own families. The slaves were loaded up on a ship, sent to the Caribbean, and then sent to the colonies to be sold. The profits they made would be shipped back to England, and the English would got to Africa to get even more slaves. This triangular trade became a huge portion of the New World economy. As the plantations grew in size, more people heard of the successes, and more people came. Not only did people come just by hearing of the successes, the government of Virginia established a headright system, or a provision that stated that any person who settled in Virginia or paid for the transportation expenses of another person who settled in Virginia should be entitled to receive fifty acres of land for each immigrant (Gentry). These incentives caused many people to flock to the plantations to try and make money. The ones who came and who had a lot of land had, like back in England, a lot of power. Aristocrats started popping up, gaining control of the areas around them. Following the English way, these aristocrats became the ones in control of more or less everything, be it land, government positions, jobs, etc. These aristocrats did not bother with schools in the Americas, of which there were very few in the south, and just sent their kids back to England to learn. ... Traditional and white collar crimes have two traits in common, an objective and a modus operandi, but the major difference is that a white collar criminal has a plan and also the ability, knowledge and technology to execute it (Nevis, 2012). White collar crimes can occur at any occupational level and affects all parts of society, from big businesses to individuals. Some associate the definition of white collar crime mainly to economic crime, but others include corporate crimes like environmental law violations and health and safety law violations (Barnett, 1999). It is interesting to note that corporate crimes such as environmental pollution typically involve corporate personnel on various levels for purposes of implementation, from CEOs to low level workers (Payne, 2013). Overall this project will deal with environmental and white collar crime outlining the similarities and differences between those. 1.1 White collar crime 1.1.1 Definition and theory Recently the issue of white collar crime has gained a lot of attention and it is quite common to notice such cases in any part of the world. This region of brain near the base of the skull transports information to the thalamus, which controls the learning and thinking aspects of the brain. Sigmund Freud believed that dreams acted as a safety valve for desires. Thus, it was like a safety net, because she never really did any of the nonsensical things, but still learned from it. (NINDS) To put it in a way, we ARE Alice. • 43. Symbolism In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen In the book hatchet there is a main theme, the theme is to symbolize survival in a harsh place. I think this is the main theme because there is significant textual evidence Brian survives for about 54 days. This is also shown when Brian tries and gets the medical kit inside the plane. So basically the Symbolism of this book is to survive. Also, he uses his hatchet in some parts of the book to make and build his fort. How would you react if you were in his situation? Would you be in a position to survive? In one of the scenes in Hatchet Gary Paulsen uses repetition. In one of the scenes of the book Bryan thought to himself I am rich, rich with food now, just rich... He described the berries in the book as Sweet and not as distasteful as the gut cherries. One effect of this is to show how grateful Bryan is to find food and to show how desperate he was. Bryan acts like he has just found a gold mine when he tastes the rich berries. • 47. Richardson Epistolary Style Samuel Richardson is an English writer who published during 18th century. He is famious for his three epistolary novels: Pamela: Or, Virtue Rewarded (1740), Clarissa: Or the History of a Young Lady (1748) and The History of Sir Charles Grandison (1753). Richardson s career was unusual for literature. He started to write when he was fifty years old but his creativity was still young. The History of Mrs. Beaumont is Richardson s last novel but it is unfinished. It is the story of a lady‚ whom „his soul loved and it proves that Richardson s creativity was still working until the day he died. He liked to think about his self as being a hero of an unhappy love story. By using the epistolary form in his novels, Richardson wanted to induce the image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Driven by clear moralistic intentions, he wrote the epistolary novel Pamela as a realistic sentimental parable based on an exemplary adventure. The initial area of conflict is defined morally, in foreground being the rich seducer whose mother dies, Mr. B. and his maid, Pamela Andrews. Richardson made in this way a sentimental tearful prose. The evolution of the plot is reproduced firstly by long letters of Pamela to her parents and by their responses. Dialog items, indeed reduced, are also introduced in these fictitious letters. The style is constantly punctuated by moralizing judgments and appeals to virtue, strongly standing out the echo of Puritan moral propagated by Richardson. Basic terms of conflict result from the aggressive behavior of the master tempted to seduce the maid and her worthy resistance, although she was in love with him. Sentimental parable has a happy ending. Converted to virtue by the young girl, Mr. B. who repents for his intentions, he proposed her a marriage. The victory of a simple and pure person just emphasizes once again the cautionary lesson from this work. The story is complex: the main heroine is Pamela Andrews, a beautiful 15 years old who was working as a maidservant in Bedfordshire. She was an innocent, pious and virtuous girl. After the death of Lady B, she remained due to her wish as a servant in the house. Mr. B, the new country landowner master after his mother death, started to make advances towards the young servant. He tried to seduce against her will and wanted to pay her to keep the secret about his mistake, but Pamela refused and told the stories of his attempts to the housekeeper, Mrs. Jervis. • 48. The Justice And Restorative Justice Punishment is not necessarily the answer for young offenders, as crime is a gesture for help in many cases, and punishment focused approaches don t allow young individuals the chance to understand the implications of their actions through a victim s perspective (Choi, Green, and Gilbert 337). Policies and practices for youths need to fulfill more than entrapment and punishment, providing rationale for restorative justice (337). Crimes committed by young individuals are often minor, first time acts which can be mediated and addressed through the proactive administration of restorative rehabilitation, which often prevents recidivism. Restorative justice is a process where all parties involved in a particular offense come together in order to collectively resolve the aftermath and future implications of the specific crime (Roche 343). Restorative justice is the the ideal response for the majority of youth involved in criminal activity, as it s a rehabilitative method that produces positive healing processes and outcomes, especially in comparison to retributive justice approaches. Martin Wright explains that restorative justice involves a fundamental change in the response a society has towards individuals who harm one another. Wright elaborates that this terminology shifts the meaning of crime, stressing the fact that people are harmed, rather than a crime was broken (Wright 216). This highlights the ultimate source of restorative justice, and its strong relationship with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Analysis Of The Movie Fight Club In the movie Fight Club we are introduced to an average, white collared, middle aged man who is seemingly normal at first glance. However, it is clear that the narrator suffers from insomnia, anxiety, and depression very early in the film. The narrator attempts to combat these symptoms in a number of ways, however, the only way that he has found to be effective is by attending support groups on a nightly basis. The narrator soon creates an alter ego (though we do not know he is his alter ego until the end of the film) named Tyler Durden. Durden is more attractive, has a better physique, and is overall more confident than the narrator and Durden regularly takes control of the narrator without the narrator s knowledge to carry out tasks that the narrator does not believe he has the power to accomplish. This use of dissociation is a defense mechanism used by the narrator to remove himself from situations that may produce anxiety. The narrator has many instances in which he is not able to recollect things that happened that day or in previous days, such as having sexual relations with Marla (the narrator envisions Tyler having sexual relations with Marla, while it is him having sexual relations with Marla). However, it is difficult to reason through whether or not he is having these memory lapses due to a true dissociative identity disorder (DID) or perhaps due to physical trauma that was sustained through his fighting.
