An Investigation of a Language Profile of a Mother-Tongue...
1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual
communities (Pennington et al. 1992), quantities of research studies have been carried out on language
behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research
focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study
in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a typical metropolis immersed in multilingualism, since there are
considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). According to the report of
2011 Census Office (2012), the number of mother tongue Standard Mandarin (hereafter, Mandarin)
speakers in Hong Kong has displayed an increase in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong
Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community.
Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group.
Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code
switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and
their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group
in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As
Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language
choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously
demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary
students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung,
2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around
sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman,
1972) on mother tongue

Political Pawn
Even as a princess, things are not perfect in my life. This is certainly true as of late. Things have been
taking a turn for the worse, and I wonder if it can possibly bounce back before it is too late. I have
been living this royal lifestyle for awhile now and it is elegant, but it has its twists; I feel like I am
being used as a political pawn, and the plague is getting worse. I feel as if I am being used as a
political pawn. I am told who to support, what to do, and who to peruse. Although I am able to do a lot
more as royalty, it seems I am not completely free. My male counterparts still seem to have the upper
hand in terms of choice. I am told to go after specific men in other kingdoms in order to expand the
kings alliances and expand his rule. I see other women getting into marriages and being very unhappy
about them after some time. They tell me that they feel as if they are being used as pawns as well, or
as mere vessels to continue the lineage of their husbands. I might not have to worry about having a
happy future at all, I may only need to worry about having a future in the first place if things don t turn
around quickly. The disease has been getting worse, but up to this point I had been protected decently.
At first I had been protected by guards and prayed for by our priests, but things are changing. Many of

It is believed that the disappearance of the Indus Valley Civilization is a mystery. To this day
unknown; yet, there are many opinions that could not be proven. It s been said, that invasion took

archeologist found that the people of Indus Valley were peaceful for thousands of years. The human
bones found showed no proof of brutality or injury. To this day neither war nor records of
confrontation has been found in the land, and no evidence of an army. Once decline was thought the

Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s
by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is still used today: electricity is generated
by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers. The other
processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power storage and recovery using
pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the electrical power industry.
Electricity is most often generated at a power station by electromechanical ... Show more content on

The Emotional Effects Of Emotional Motivational Theory
The Emotional Motivational Theory contributes to the ongoing criminological debate while answering
what exactly causes humans to commit crime. It also highlights how crime should be handled and
prevented by studying the basic human mind and its functions. I created the Emotional Motivational
Theory because it relates to every individual on earth in aspects of human interactions. The theory is
based off of the seven emotions we as humans exhibit. The seven emotions consist of: anger,
contempt, fear, disgust, happiness, sadness, and surprise. It is human nature to experience these
emotions and this directly correlates with our ways of thinking, feeling, and actions on a day to day
basis. The Emotional Motivational Theory ties the seven emotions presented in humans to the major
causes of crimes. For the past centuries, criminologists have extensively studied why people commit
crimes, but The Emotional Motivational Theory gives a new perspective behind the motivation created
by not harnessing emotional instability properly. This is a historical breakthrough relating to the
contemporary social conditions in the United States. The Emotional Motivational Theory depicts a
wide range of crimes from minor drug use to the worst serial killers of all time, and everything in
between. Trying to prevent criminals to stop committing crimes is like telling a new born baby to talk
and walk, it takes time and effort, but my theory has a long list of programs that can help prevent
crime. We

Spotted Owl, Flying Squirrel, Truffle Symbiosis
Throughout the world there are many animals, plants, fungi and numerous other living organisms that
are influenced by the overall condition or adaptations of other organisms. Whether it is a symbiotic
relationship or a predator/prey relationship there are many ways in which animals and other living
organisms operate and live; both dependent on others and their own adaptations. The point is that
there are many relationships that provide a basis and means for the survival of a variety of different
species around the world. This relationship is very apparent in the scientific findings regarding
northern spotted owls (Strix Occidentalis), flying squirrels (Glaucomys Sabrinus), and truffles, which

Unlike many other rodents the flying squirrel does not hibernate. Instead they group together during
the winter and cold month s to maintain warmth. Northern flying squirrels usually communicate with
a soft low chirp but also cluck just like other squirrels when distressed. These squirrels also use scent
and touch to communicate with one another; utilizing their excellent senses of hearing, smell, vision,
and touch to correspond with the signals they emanate. A major food source for the squirrels are
mycorrhizal fungi (truffles) of many different species, though they also eat lichens, mushrooms, all
mast crop nuts, tree sap, insects, carrion, bird eggs and nestlings, buds and flowers. The squirrels are
special in that they can find truffles by olfaction, which is the use of smell. They also seem to use
clues such as the presence of wood debris, indicating a decaying log, and spatial memory of locations
where truffles were found in the past. The northern flying squirrel is also known to stash food for
when food supplies are lower such as in the winter. These caches can be in cavities in trees, as well as
in the squirrels nest, or even within the ground. Lichens and seeds are the commonly stored items (9).
Yet in this relationship the most important functions of this squirrel are to provide food for the owls,

Theme Of Truth And Imagination In John Keats
Beauty is truth, truth beauty discusses Keats s exploration of the themes of beauty, truth and
imagination in two or more of his works. Prior to the Romantic Movement, the prevalent notions in
European culture was that the understanding of the universe could be comprehended with the
application of rationality and logic. The belief that reason and logic could and should determine all
aspects of life arguably underwent a shift of consciousness and was subordinated against the ideas of
the Romantic Movement. In place of logic and reason, the Romantics placed a considerable amount of
emphasis on emotions, beauty, individuality and in particularly the imagination. An integral part of
this change meant that the way in which one perceived nature, beauty and imagination had to veer into
a different direction. One of the foundations of Romantic thought was the notion that the perception of
beauty suggests a deeper truth. The capturing of such beauty and a deeper truth could only be obtained
with the employment of an active imagination. John Keats was arguably a successful activist in the
promotion of the beauty and the imagination beyond the realms of rationality. Quantification of the
universe for Keats was therefore exercised through the use of imagination. The imagination provided a
stepping stone towards a deeper truth, which other Romantics may call the sublime. He held the view
that: What the Imagination seizes as Beauty must be Truth, whether it existed before or not; for I

The Effects Of Irradiation
Exposure to ionizing radiation induces oxidative damage that leads to alteration of tissue physiological
function as observed in the present study. This was evidenced by significant elevation in kidney MDA
content. These results match the increase in lipid peroxidation post irradiation obtained by Srinivasan
et al. (2007) and Pratheeshkumar and kuttan (2011). Free radicals generated by irradiation react with
unsaturated lipids generating hydroperoxides, which in turn can induce changes in lipid bilayer
thereby altering the membrane permeability and inducing lipid peroxidation (Suzuki et al. 1997). Also,
significant elevation of kidney GSH contents were observed in irradiated rats. This increase in GSH
level may be due to transcriptional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1997) or due to radiation induced deterioration in liver detoxification function (Robbins et al. 2001).
In addition, the increment in serum urea level which is the major end product of protein catabolism
may be also due to excess degradation of protein post irradiation (Moulder et al. 2002). Results of the
present study also showed that whole body gamma irradiation at 6.5Gy evoked a sharp increase in
glucose level and decrease in Mg kidney content. Hyperglycemia has been found post irradiation due
to minimized utilization of glucose by injured tissues as well as acceleration of gluconeogenesis which
is indirect result of irradiation (Abdel Salam et al. 2006). The hypomagnesaemia may be due to
insufficient renal function or excess release through damaged cells post irradiation (Kotb et al. 1990).
Lipid metabolism abnormalities, is a characteristic consequence of renal insufficiency (Trevisan et al.
2006). In the present study, significant elevation was observed in serum cholesterol, triglycerides and
LDL levels while there was a significant decrease in HDL serum level of irradiated rats. This confirms
that previously reported by Baker et al. (2009); Anees et al. (2014) and Abd El kader et al. (2015).
This indicates that ionizing radiation induced oxidative stress might alter hepatic lipid metabolism and

Stage 1. Introduction to Computer Science
In this stage, I have watched an introductory video about computer science and what a computer
scientist does in general. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the
world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to
know.
Stage 2. The Maze
Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird
move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and
drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the repeat block in the game I learned how loops are valuable
and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to
use repeat until block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game
was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used repeat until command to achieve the goal.
Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming if statement. By using if commands the
computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about if/else block command, which made a
decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. There were some struggles that I
have faced. Sometimes I didn t quite

Gender Socialization In Toy Store Toys R Us
Gender, as a social construct has constantly intrigued me, particularly since our culture, society and
who we are is formed by it. The thought that we can make something that runs our lives so
tremendously is fascinating. Gender is imbued within each one of us from the beginning of our lives
and is enforced in all most everything, from toys to clothes.
The process of learning the social desires and expectations as well as attitudes associated with one s
sex is called as Gender Socialization. Starting from an early age, girls and boys are advised on how to
act and behave to societal standards of gender roles and behaviors. Gender socialization occurs in
numerous consumer items and even behavior. One method of doing this is through children toys, and
the gender socialization that occurs between girls and boys in the toys that are showcased to them.
There is a remarkable difference between the two kinds of gender biased toys, and certainly it shapes

Pros And Disadvantages Of ORM Impedence Mismatching
When to non relate
While relational databases are great, they do come with trade offs. One of those is ORM Impedence
Mismatching, because relational databases were not initially created with the OOP languages in mind.
The best way to avoid this issue is to create your database schema with referential integrity at its core.
So, when using a relational database with an OOP (like Ruby), you have to think about how to set up
your primary and foreign keys, the use of constraints (including the cascade delete and update), and
how you write your migrations.
But, if you re dealing with a phenomenally huge amount of data, it can be way too tedious, and the
probability of error (in the form of an ORM Impedance Mismatch issue) increases. In that situation ...

Since Mongo doesn t automatically treat operations as transactions the way a relational database does,
you must manually choose to create a transaction and then manually verify it, manually commit it or
roll it back. Even the documentation on the MongoDB site warns you that without taking some
potentially time consuming precautions, and since documents can be fairly complex and nested, the
success or failure of a database operation cannot be all or nothing. To put it simply, some operations
will succeed while others fail.
Of course, this all brings us back to the beginning; knowing how to ask exactly the right questions in

How Did The Golden Age Of Hip Hop Affect African American...
The Golden Age Of Hip Hop The 80s was considered The Golden Age Of Hip Hop because of its
lyrical content and focus on the African American experience in Urban America. Hip Hop at the time
matured and focused on social issues. Hip Hop has its own fashion with bold bright colors, big jewelry
and baggy clothes. At the time, sales and interest boosted within the record companies. Eventually the
Golden Age era ended due to new things being done involving music. Hip Hop is still widely listened
to today throughout America and the rest of the world. Hip Hop is more than music, it s more of a
culture. Hip Hop has socially affected America especially the African American community. Hip Hop

Stock Trak Report Investment Analysis I Executive Summary This report will describe examine the
various strategies that were undertaken to successfully complete the Stocktrak simulation. Firstly, an
analysis of the US and Chinese markets will be given as they are crucial markets that play a big role in
the worldwide economy. Due to the fact that the US economy has been going through a recession, a
working knowledge of this economic was crucial to our success. Our initial strategy revolved around
timing trades based on daily market performance and expectations using daily market news and

For instance, economic growth is mainly constrained by the policy and political environment, which
indicates that the economic growth momentum is not strongly autonomous. The current consumption
growth will mainly depend on policy guidance and encouragement in the national income distribution
system. If there is no fundamental change in circumstances, the steady growth in consumption of
endogenous mechanisms is hard to form. Strategy Figure A The first strategy attempted by the group
involved timing trades based on daily market performance and expectations. Based on our predictions,
shares were bought during the early hours of trading and by mid day, the group had a good idea what
would be kept until the next day of trading and what would be sold by close. This strategy made use of
daily market news and reports to help predict short term changes; little attention was paid to long term
potential as the group felt the timeframe the simulation take place in was too short. This strategy,
while mildly successful, was not earning large enough gains for the group s portfolio. Many of our
gains would be negated by the commission the simulator charged per trade. This strategy later evolved
to include larger equity purchases on Fridays before the market closed for the weekend. These

Failure Of The Failure And Predicting The Mechanical...
Failure criteria s plays very important role in analysing the failure and predicting the mechanical
properties of composite materials. There are many failure criteria s available which has aided in
analysing, few such failure criteria s are maximum stress, maximum strain, Classic laminate theory,
Hashin s failure theory, Tsai Wu failure criterion, and Tsai Hill failure criterion etc.
The research was conducted on failure ways and criteria for their manifestation in composite beams
and columns [37]. They found that the initiations of the different failure modes are influenced by the
material properties, type of loading, and geometric dimensions. They conveyed that the loading type
or condition governs the state of stress all through the composite structure, which controls the locality
and mode of failure. The suitable failure criteria at any point of the structure accounts for the biaxiality
or triaxiality of the state of stress [38]. A four nodded plate element based on a sophisticated higher
order shear deformation theory can be established [39] for the investigation of composite plates. This
plate theory fulfils the requirements of inter laminar shear stress continuity and stress free bottom and
top faces of the plate. Besides, the number of independent unknowns is the same as that in the first
order shear deformation concept.
Prediction of failure in composite materials can be done by implementing failure theories [40 44]. The

mounds of evidence against you. I encourage you to read my Opposition to Vacate, and further, my

factual elements related to this case that you and your clients will have to overcome. In your Request

service . This is utterly absurd coming from a licensed attorney. You claim in your pleadings that your

hope your substitute provided you context on the judge s temperament when ordering the default. His

There are a multitude of avenues by which a buyer may seek recourse for defective realty. Realty sales
has moved from a caveat emptor state to that of strict liability. But, in the transition there has
developed a combination of tort, contract, and warranty law precepts. One must distinguish the type of
damages that are recoverable by the first owner and any subsequent owners. Damages that arise out of
defective products that may threaten the safety of any occupant would lie under the auspices of strict
tort liability. Whereas defects in workmanship that merely lower the value of the real estate should lie
simply with the original owner and his/her relation with the original builder in breach of an implied

Inspectors, on the other hand, do not have to be accused of fraudulent behavior in order to be sued,
they can be sued for serious oversights or errors in judgement. A licensed home inspector will look at
the main areas of the home for material defects that could require repairs. A home inspector must
conduct the inspection in a reasonable manner consistent with industry standards. After completing the
inspection, a written report is supplied to the prospective buyer. The report details any problems found
in the home and how the issues should be addressed. But, any issues found should be addressed prior
to the sale, and after the sale is complete there is no recourse of a buyer to the seller.4 If the inspector
fails to discover any defects that affect the dwelling he/she can be held liable for any damages that are
a result of his/her negligence. Furthermore, the inspector can be sued for breach of contract by the
party that employed his/her services. A home inspector can insert a clause in his/her contract that
limits any liability to the cost of inspection, a reason that contracts should not be signed without
scrutiny. Such a clause only applies to the person who signs the contract. In such a case, the buyer
would have no recourse. A smart buyer would not sign any contract with a known exculpatory clause,
or from an inspector without errors and omissions

First person shooter games tend to give players the same visual perspective as the character in the

Narcissism in John Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay
Narcissism in John Milton s Paradise Lost
When Eve eats the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, her decision to tell Adam of her
disobedience turns on two suppositions. If her transgression is kept secret from God, Eve s augmented
knowledge might increase Adam s love for her, and perhaps cause her to be more equal or even
superior to Adam. Even though Eve was created comparable to Adam as his helper, she refers to Adam
as her Author and Disposer. Furthermore, she says that while God is Adam s law, Adam is her law.
Apparently, Eve chafes under this arrangement, as she wraps up her evaluation of not telling Adam of
her sin with, for inferior who is free? However, her death is assured if God has seen her wrongdoing.

When Raphael joins Adam for dinner, Eve serves them naked, affirming her place in God s hierarchy.
However, Eve s nakedness arouses no libidinal desires in God s heavenly representative. Eve listens in
on their conversation while Raphael relates how Satan and his rebellious angels were defeated, and
how God and God s Son created the world. Eve leaves when Adam and Raphael discuss astronomy,
her reason not suitable for this subject matter, and she only overhears Raphael s final warning about
Satan. Information is power: Eve s status as Adam s weaker is clear.
During the conversation with Raphael, Adam relates his first experiences of passion with Eve, an
emotion mixed with his love. While Raphael praises Adam s capacity to love, he disparages Adam s
ability to control his passion. Adam should love, cherish, and honour Eve, but not subject himself to
her. Moreover, Raphael stresses Adam s need to love God, and the potential conflict between his love
for God and his love for Eve. To love God, is to obey God. For Adam, obeying God means never to
eat of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. While God leaves Adam free to will and in his own
will free, his will though free is mutable. Under the influence of passion sexual desire for Eve Adam
could choose to act in ways at variance with his free will and God s will. Sexual passion engenders
pride, affecting Adam s obedience and love for

The comparison of internal and external conflicts and their affects on lives.
Essay? HOOK:
The story Blue Winds Dancing by Thomas S. Whitecloud demonstrates the experience of a native man
transitioning to his life into a white society. It exhibits the internal and external struggles in the native
s life that he encounters throughout his life. However, the native is an outcast and has a longing to go
back to his native reserve. In comparison, Angel Levine by Bernard Malamud describes the life of a
Jewish man, named Manischevitz, who lost everything: his children, his business, and his wife
because of her fatal illness. He reaches out to God, but there is no response which also leads him to

Manischevitz is distraught when a Black Angel appears to help, and he realises that all hope is lost.
This negatively affects Mr. Manischevitz because he seeks affirmation from God, although, he does
not believe in the black angel s powers. This leads Manischevitz down a spiral where he smote to the
naked bones, cursing himself for having believed in God to help him in his time of need. On the other
hand, in Blue Winds Dancing, the native also undergoes an internal conflict; the native feels alone and
lost in the White world. He feels like an outsider with no place in the white world that he desperately
wants to accept him. The native compares himself to a hobo because they both are outsiders because
they cherish different things from a typical white man. Additionally, the native in the story does not
have a name to symbolize that his experience is very similar to many other natives who want to be
apart of the white world. Overall, the native is having an Identity crisis because he does not know
whether to acculturate and become like every other white man or go back to the blanket because it is
familiar to him. He longs for home because he does not agree with the white man s customs of getting
a hill and wanting a mountain . He wants to return back home where people can be free and the native
can truly be himself. These internal conflicts are similar because both protagonists encounter identity
crises which cause them to seek affirmation in their faith

Mad Max Fury Road Analysis
Mad Max Fury Road directed and written by George Miller is an Action movie and explores themes
such as feminism and an apocalyptic future. The film is set in a desert wasteland in Australia and
follows the characters of Max and Furiosa. Max is captured early on in the film by war boys who are
the enslaved warrior followers of a tyrannical ruler Immortan Joe who controls the survivors supplies
and water. Max escapes when he is attached as a blood bag to one of the war boys vehicles and they
crash while pursuing Furiosa. The two forge an alliance and they continue on a journey to find a better
place.
Max as a character is portrayed as a troubled lone ranger and shows aggressive traits in the beginning
of the film describing his world as of fire and blood. In his interior monologue at the very start and
throughout the film voices of people from his past taunt him. These voices and visions are suggestive
of his guilt towards people he could not save or help in his past. When Max encounters Furiosa and
the other women who were Joe s wives and breeders and held as possessions by Immortan Joe. He is
aggressive towards them and is desperate to escape his chains threatening them by pointing a gun and
forcing them to try to cut his chain. Max s character starts to change after he joins agrees to let Furiosa
and the women back into the war rig however he is still very cautious of them. This is representative

Comparing Two Poems
Compare and Contrast Poems can have many types of hidden messages. It all depends on how you
interpret them. In poems somethings are literal and others are just figurative. My two poems are The
Village Blacksmith by famous poet, Emily Dickinson, and Morning Song by another well known poet,
Sylvia Plath. The Village Blacksmith is about the dedication it takes to not only be a blacksmith, but to
also be a single parent. Morning Song is about a new mom that learns that being a parent isn t what it
is cracked up to be. The poems, Morning Song and The Village Blacksmith both have a lot in common
by both having enjambment, imagery, and stanza. These poems have allowed me understand the

For example, in The Village Blacksmith the poetic device enjambment is, And Children coming home
from school / Look in at the open door (20). The reason why I used this line from the poem is because

on the next line from the word look. The example of the poetic device in the poem, Morning Song is I
m no more your mother / Than the clouds that distil a mirror to reflect its own slow / Effacement at the

Ts Eliot Critical Essay
How has your research into TS Eliot s life and the opinions of ONE critic enriched your understanding

Let us go then, you and I .
Throughout the poem, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock, written by TS Eliot, there is a consistent
use of the words you and I . Not much is said about the narrator or who he is talking to and after
conducting research on TS Eliot himself as well as reading opinions of critics on this topic, my
understanding of who the you and I is has changed quite significantly.

One of the discussed allusions is the methods Eliot uses to draw the audience into the poem. She goes
on to say Let us go then, you and I, Prufrock urges, inviting readers to enter the world of his loneliness
and self deprecating impotence .
Many theories of who Prufrock is talking to exist. Some believe he is talking simply to another person
who is walking through the streets with him. Another theory is that he is talking to himself and
discussing his problems out loud, which was my original understanding. However, now I do not
believe Prufrock would literally talk to himself and urge himself to Let us go . Due to this, my
understanding is that he is talking to the audience and is asking them to continue on with his story and
to listen with what he has to say.
Since conducting research on TS Eliot and The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock my understanding of
who the narrator is and who he is talking to have changed and I now believe that J Alfred Prufrock is
an appropriation of Eliot by himself. Also, I now believe that Prufrock is not talking to himself but is

was not present (Black, pgs. 2 5, 2013). Since, Azmi was called names stigmatization occurred
because there was labelling that were present. Stigma comes from labelling, which further leads to
individuals as social outcasts. Labels are negative assumptions based on gender, gender preferences
and stereotypes that are not close to scientific evidence. Also, labelling causes dehumanization of a
person (Barris, 2007). However, no human attribute is inferior but these attributes are socially
constructed. For example, homosexual men were reflected in the Church as deviant, mentally ill and
seducers of boys and these labels were later displayed in many laws (Keller, pgs. 191 192, 1994).
Finally, the term faggot originated from the time when homosexuals were often burned first to make
coals hot for the burning of witches (Keller, pgs. 191 192, 1994). As for Jubran s case, he did not
identify himself as a homosexual individual but he was the subject of ongoing homophobic
harassment. This led Azmi to take legal action in regards to the harassment he was experiencing
during his school years (Black, pgs. 48,52, 2013). Mr. Jubran took his case to the court and alleged
that the school Board had violated the British Columbia Human Right code by discriminating him on
the grounds of sexual orientation (Black,

Essay on Setting Up a McDonald s In Chad
Chad is an ethnically diverse African country that also happens to be one of the poorest countries in
Africa. Chad gained its independence from France in 1960 after a sixty year rule. There are several
national cultures in Chad that are based on ethnoregional and religious affiliations. There are more
than 200 ethnic groups in Chad, and those in the north and east are typically Muslim; most southerners
are Animists and Christians. Through their long religious and commercial relationships with Sudan
and Egypt, many of the people in Chad s eastern and central regions have become more or less
Arabized, speaking Arabic and engaging in many other Arab cultural practices as well (Azevedo,
Graham, and Nnadozie, 1997). The people who reside in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to there lack of money they are forced to eat groundnut oil residue, which is usually fed to goats,
which only cost eighteen cents (Clarke, 2010). Chad s economic performance depends on rainfall,
because of the types of goods they export. Chad also has a narrow commercial base. Since
independence, both Chad s internal and external markets remain undeveloped; therefore, the nation
never succeeded in developing a successful commercial export economy. Chad s economy has long
been troubled by its landlocked position, and high energy cost (Azevedo, Graham, and Nnadozie,
1997). They are also still feeling the effects of the years of civil war they were engaged in. Chad has
poor transportation, inadequate natural resources, and continue to have political turmoil that has
severely stunted their economic development. They are also highly dependent on foreign assistance to
help their economy. Their economy is so bad that they are constantly in need of food aid to meet the
hunger needs of their people. Chad s cultural structures are diverse due to the great variety of people
who live in Chad, and many different languages spoken there. Chad is a semi nomadic Arab culture.
Arabs make up one third of the population, and they live in tribes which are known as the Kishimbet
(Rosensweig, 2001). The Kishimet is headed by an elder who is called the Shaykh. All members of the

James Bond Stereotypes
Dr. No (1962) and Rising Sun (1994) are heavy loaded with stereotypes. 32 years apart and for sure
appearance of Sean Connery has changed and stereotypes seem less striking but very present in Rising
Sun specially towards oriental people, women and Blacks. Fifty years ago, the release of Dr. No, the
famous fiction British master spy James Bond film starring Sean Connery, launched one of the longest
running and most successful franchises in movie history. World needed a hero of the cold war era and
in real danger of nuclear war there was nothing to worry about so long as Agent 007 was on the case.
Bond was given a license to kill and to stereotype. As I watched first James Bond movie Dr. No a big
smile was present on my face during most of the movie because so many actions taken by the
universal hero Bond seemed incorrect today. The 007 movies are permeated with humor, high tech
gadgets, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No is half German and half Chinese a white Jewish actor plays him and it all seem very comical and
fake as of today. During that time in the history after the Holocaust German culture was portrayed as
evil Nazi. The Vietnam War, which escalated soon after Kennedy s death was a difficult time in
American history where fear of the orient was still very real 20 years after attack on Pearl Harbor.
Around 150.000 Japanese US citizens were placed in camps during the Second War World II. The evil
character Dr.No rejected the authority and works for one purpose only money and power. Dr. No
represents technology and dresses in very futuristic, minimalistic uniform, his metal hand is a symbol
of power and it is a hybrid between nature technology and lack of humanity. In fact, in this movie,
every Asian character with a substantial role is played by a white actor in yellowface. Unfortunately,
this makes it blatantly obvious from the moment we see her that Miss Taro is The Mole again a
beautiful woman who is on the wrong side of Bond will be used and

Sentimentality Of William Tavener Analysis
In Sentimentality of William Tavener the events of the plot are ordered in chronological order with
brief flashbacks. The story is about a family who lives in the middle of nowhere. The kids of the
family work hard on the farm every day and the mother believes that they should have a break to go to
the circus. The husband and wife did not have a very loving relationship, so the mother was always
defensive on the topic of her sons: the main cause of the majority of their disagreements. The mother
went into detail on how much fun her experience was as a child. The husband corrects her on one of
the animals that she had mistaken for something else. They then got into the discussion of certain
elements of the circus. The topic of the circus soon changed to more recent, topics. The husband and
wife connected again and the mother announced that the boys could go to the fair. She took into
consideration how the father would feel and took up for him by saying that he earned his money by ...

According to paragraph 19, ... they had talked of nothing else but butter and eggs, and the prices of
things, and now they had as much to say to each other as people who meet after a long separation. By
sticking pieces of their childhood and personal lives in the middle of the story, you can see how and
why the two end up bonding over their memories. In paragraph 25, the wife warns the kids, And you
better be careful of that, an don t waste it. Your father works hard for his money. This piece contradicts
the description of his wife in paragraph 19. Paragraph 19 provides the background that says, In her
desire to indulge her boys she had unconsciously assumed a defensive and almost hostile attitude
towards her husband. The wife went from defending her boys with everything that she had to

Characteristics Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment refers to an intellectual movement, which started in England and gain momentum
in France in the 17th and 18th century. Ideals of this cultural movement eventually influenced the rest
of the world. The enlightenment focused on key principles such as equality, liberty and the right to
life; many ideals that modern governments centered on today. The Enlightenment, adopted several
types philosophies about how we think and understand what s going on around us rejecting ideals of
faith alone, and embracing reasoning and rationalism. In this assignment we were asked to choose
from four political documents that are heavily influenced by characteristics of the Enlightenment era:
Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, US Constitution and Bill of Rights, Haiti
Constitutions (1801), and Haiti Constitution (1805); although, all of these documents have their own
flaws due to views of the period, I feel as though The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen
embodied more sentiments of the period. Consisting of 17 articles, The Declaration of the Rights of
Man and the Citizen, was strongly influenced by the theories of the social contract and individualism
expressed by Jean Jacques Rousseau as well as the separation of powers theory discussed by Baron de
Montesquieu. I also chose The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, because this
document inspired the making of other politic documents gobally.
Social contract is defined as the

Comparing Anton Chekhov s The Lady With The Dog
Anton Chekov s personal life shaped his writing immensely. The plotline of Chekov s story, The Lady
with the Dog is based on his life experiences. On the 25th of May in 1901, Chekov married his wife
Olga Knipper, a stage actress. Together they maintained a long distance relationship; Chekov was
living mainly in Yalta and Olga in Moscow as she continued to seek her acting career (Hingley).
While Chekov and Olga remained separated, they continued to uphold a stable marriage as they lived
apart for most of the year. Chekov wrote The Lady with the Dog during the time of their separation,
starring two characters, Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna, whose lives were similar to both Chekov and
Olga s. Despite the hardships that their long distance relationship ... Show more content on

Gurov mentions the color grey a number of times: to Anna as having, lovely grey eyes , the floor
[being] covered with grey army cloth... an inkstand, grey with dust...the bed... covered by a cheap grey
blanket , and by the end of the story Gurov s hair was already beginning to turn grey (Chekov).
Chekov uses the color grey to evoke feelings of depression, sadness and loneliness. The color grey is
often affiliated with negative or dark moods. Chekov intended to utilize this color in major moments
and scenarios that take place during times of sorrow, and emotional dissatisfaction with Gurov s
current romantic state. However, grey is neither black nor white, but rather it is somewhere in
between. The color creates some complications because it is a mixture of two contrasting ideas, white
is more lively while black is mysterious. This enhances the theme of the story that dissatisfaction is
only temporary and happiness can still be

  • 5. An Investigation of a Language Profile of a Mother-Tongue... 1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual communities (Pennington et al. 1992), quantities of research studies have been carried out on language behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a typical metropolis immersed in multilingualism, since there are considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). According to the report of 2011 Census Office (2012), the number of mother tongue Standard Mandarin (hereafter, Mandarin) speakers in Hong Kong has displayed an increase in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community. Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group. Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung, 2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman, 1972) on mother tongue ... The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the 1820s and early 1830s by the British scientist Michael Faraday. • 11. The Emotional Effects Of Emotional Motivational Theory The Emotional Motivational Theory contributes to the ongoing criminological debate while answering what exactly causes humans to commit crime. It also highlights how crime should be handled and prevented by studying the basic human mind and its functions. I created the Emotional Motivational Theory because it relates to every individual on earth in aspects of human interactions. The theory is based off of the seven emotions we as humans exhibit. The seven emotions consist of: anger, contempt, fear, disgust, happiness, sadness, and surprise. It is human nature to experience these emotions and this directly correlates with our ways of thinking, feeling, and actions on a day to day basis. The Emotional Motivational Theory ties the seven emotions presented in humans to the major causes of crimes. For the past centuries, criminologists have extensively studied why people commit crimes, but The Emotional Motivational Theory gives a new perspective behind the motivation created by not harnessing emotional instability properly. This is a historical breakthrough relating to the contemporary social conditions in the United States. The Emotional Motivational Theory depicts a wide range of crimes from minor drug use to the worst serial killers of all time, and everything in between. Trying to prevent criminals to stop committing crimes is like telling a new born baby to talk and walk, it takes time and effort, but my theory has a long list of programs that can help prevent crime. The point is that there are many relationships that provide a basis and means for the survival of a variety of different species around the world. A major food source for the squirrels are mycorrhizal fungi (truffles) of many different species, though they also eat lichens, mushrooms, all mast crop nuts, tree sap, insects, carrion, bird eggs and nestlings, buds and flowers. The squirrels are special in that they can find truffles by olfaction, which is the use of smell. They also seem to use clues such as the presence of wood debris, indicating a decaying log, and spatial memory of locations where truffles were found in the past. The northern flying squirrel is also known to stash food for when food supplies are lower such as in the winter. • 15. Theme Of Truth And Imagination In John Keats Beauty is truth, truth beauty discusses Keats s exploration of the themes of beauty, truth and imagination in two or more of his works. Prior to the Romantic Movement, the prevalent notions in European culture was that the understanding of the universe could be comprehended with the application of rationality and logic. The belief that reason and logic could and should determine all aspects of life arguably underwent a shift of consciousness and was subordinated against the ideas of the Romantic Movement. In place of logic and reason, the Romantics placed a considerable amount of emphasis on emotions, beauty, individuality and in particularly the imagination. An integral part of this change meant that the way in which one perceived nature, beauty and imagination had to veer into a different direction. One of the foundations of Romantic thought was the notion that the perception of beauty suggests a deeper truth. The capturing of such beauty and a deeper truth could only be obtained with the employment of an active imagination. John Keats was arguably a successful activist in the promotion of the beauty and the imagination beyond the realms of rationality. Quantification of the universe for Keats was therefore exercised through the use of imagination. The imagination provided a stepping stone towards a deeper truth, which other Romantics may call the sublime. He held the view that: What the Imagination seizes as Beauty must be Truth, whether it existed before or not; for I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was evidenced by significant elevation in kidney MDA content. These results match the increase in lipid peroxidation post irradiation obtained by Srinivasan et al. (2007) and Pratheeshkumar and kuttan (2011). Free radicals generated by irradiation react with unsaturated lipids generating hydroperoxides, which in turn can induce changes in lipid bilayer thereby altering the membrane permeability and inducing lipid peroxidation (Suzuki et al. 1997). Also, significant elevation of kidney GSH contents were observed in irradiated rats. This increase in GSH level may be due to transcriptional ... In addition, the increment in serum urea level which is the major end product of protein catabolism may be also due to excess degradation of protein post irradiation (Moulder et al. 2002). Results of the present study also showed that whole body gamma irradiation at 6.5Gy evoked a sharp increase in glucose level and decrease in Mg kidney content. Hyperglycemia has been found post irradiation due to minimized utilization of glucose by injured tissues as well as acceleration of gluconeogenesis which is indirect result of irradiation (Abdel Salam et al. 2006). The hypomagnesaemia may be due to insufficient renal function or excess release through damaged cells post irradiation (Kotb et al. 1990). Intro to Computer Science Course Stage 1. Introduction to Computer Science In this stage, I have watched an introductory video about computer science and what a computer scientist does in general. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to know. Stage 2. The Maze Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the repeat block in the game I learned how loops are valuable and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to use repeat until block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used repeat until command to achieve the goal. Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming if statement. By using if commands the computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about if/else block command, which made a decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. There were some struggles that I have faced. Sometimes I didn t quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The thought that we can make something that runs our lives so tremendously is fascinating. Gender is imbued within each one of us from the beginning of our lives and is enforced in all most everything, from toys to clothes. The process of learning the social desires and expectations as well as attitudes associated with one s sex is called as Gender Socialization. Starting from an early age, girls and boys are advised on how to act and behave to societal standards of gender roles and behaviors. Gender socialization occurs in numerous consumer items and even behavior. One method of doing this is through children toys, and the gender socialization that occurs between girls and boys in the toys that are showcased to them. • 20. Pros And Disadvantages Of ORM Impedence Mismatching When to non relate While relational databases are great, they do come with trade offs. One of those is ORM Impedence Mismatching, because relational databases were not initially created with the OOP languages in mind. The best way to avoid this issue is to create your database schema with referential integrity at its core. So, when using a relational database with an OOP (like Ruby), you have to think about how to set up your primary and foreign keys, the use of constraints (including the cascade delete and update), and how you write your migrations. But, if you re dealing with a phenomenally huge amount of data, it can be way too tedious, and the probability of error (in the form of an ORM Impedance Mismatch issue) increases. Even the documentation on the MongoDB site warns you that without taking some potentially time consuming precautions, and since documents can be fairly complex and nested, the success or failure of a database operation cannot be all or nothing. To put it simply, some operations will succeed while others fail. There are many failure criteria s available which has aided in analysing, few such failure criteria s are maximum stress, maximum strain, Classic laminate theory, Hashin s failure theory, Tsai Wu failure criterion, and Tsai Hill failure criterion etc. The research was conducted on failure ways and criteria for their manifestation in composite beams and columns [37]. Not much is said about the narrator or who he is talking to and after conducting research on TS Eliot himself as well as reading opinions of critics on this topic, my understanding of who the you and I is has changed quite significantly. She goes on to say Let us go then, you and I, Prufrock urges, inviting readers to enter the world of his loneliness and self deprecating impotence . Many theories of who Prufrock is talking to exist. Some believe he is talking simply to another person who is walking through the streets with him. Another theory is that he is talking to himself and discussing his problems out loud, which was my original understanding. However, now I do not believe Prufrock would literally talk to himself and urge himself to Let us go . Due to this, my understanding is that he is talking to the audience and is asking them to continue on with his story and to listen with what he has to say. Since conducting research on TS Eliot and The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock my understanding of who the narrator is and who he is talking to have changed and I now believe that J Alfred Prufrock is an appropriation of Eliot by himself. Also, I now believe that Prufrock is not talking to himself but is talking to the audience and urging them to come along with him as he talks about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The law promises every individual the right to life, freedom of expression, well being and uses sparkly language to prove that no one is above the law despite sexual orientation (Canadian Human Rights Act, 1985). However, this is not the case in regards to homosexual individuals. This paper will discuss how homosexual suffer from discriminatory laws in their everyday lives. The discriminatory laws further lead to myths, ideologies and labels that are imposed on homosexuals (Fedders, pgs.787 789, 2006). Labels are negative assumptions based on gender, gender preferences and stereotypes that are not close to scientific evidence. Also, labelling causes dehumanization of a person (Barris, 2007). However, no human attribute is inferior but these attributes are socially constructed. For example, homosexual men were reflected in the Church as deviant, mentally ill and seducers of boys and these labels were later displayed in many laws (Keller, pgs. 191 192, 1994). Finally, the term faggot originated from the time when homosexuals were often burned first to make coals hot for the burning of witches (Keller, pgs. 191 192, 1994). As for Jubran s case, he did not identify himself as a homosexual individual but he was the subject of ongoing homophobic harassment. This led Azmi to take legal action in regards to the harassment he was experiencing during his school years (Black, pgs. 48,52, 2013). The enlightenment focused on key principles such as equality, liberty and the right to life; many ideals that modern governments centered on today. The Enlightenment, adopted several types philosophies about how we think and understand what s going on around us rejecting ideals of faith alone, and embracing reasoning and rationalism. In this assignment we were asked to choose from four political documents that are heavily influenced by characteristics of the Enlightenment era: Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, US Constitution and Bill of Rights, Haiti Constitutions (1801), and Haiti Constitution (1805); although, all of these documents have their own flaws due to views of the period, I feel as though The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen embodied more sentiments of the period. Consisting of 17 articles, The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, was strongly influenced by the theories of the social contract and individualism expressed by Jean Jacques Rousseau as well as the separation of powers theory discussed by Baron de Montesquieu. The plotline of Chekov s story, The Lady with the Dog is based on his life experiences. On the 25th of May in 1901, Chekov married his wife Olga Knipper, a stage actress. Together they maintained a long distance relationship; Chekov was living mainly in Yalta and Olga in Moscow as she continued to seek her acting career (Hingley). While Chekov and Olga remained separated, they continued to uphold a stable marriage as they lived apart for most of the year. Chekov uses the color grey to evoke feelings of depression, sadness and loneliness. The color grey is often affiliated with negative or dark moods. Chekov intended to utilize this color in major moments and scenarios that take place during times of sorrow, and emotional dissatisfaction with Gurov s current romantic state. The color creates some complications because it is a mixture of two contrasting ideas, white is more lively while black is mysterious.
