Factors Related to Student s Performance in Nat
Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study The National Achievement Test (NAT) is an examination given annually
to assess the competency of both public and private school students. The students knowledge and
skills are tested in the subjects of Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino, and HEKASI for grade
school and Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino, and Araling Panlipunan for high school. The
test is administered by the Department of Education s National Education Testing and Research
Center (NETRC). The results are intended to guide the Department of Education in its efforts
towards the improvement of the quality of education in public schools and to provide appropriate
intervention for the students. A score of 75% and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While there are lots of interventions to meet the national academic standard, best practices to
improve NAT performance of second year students in the public secondary schools in the Division
of Calapan City, there are comprehensive student support system developed and implemented in
Calapan City Division. More importantly, the National Achievement Test is not just a test for
students but also for the principal leadership skills that promotes a positive school climate condition
that can affect the student s academic performance. According to the Second Regional Comparative
and Explanatory Study (SERCE), in order to promote learning among students it is essential to
provide a welcoming and warm environment based on mutual respect. In this line, there is a need to
evaluate the level of profile of the students and school climate condition to assess the needs of the
students. The purpose of this study is to identify the students profile in terms of age, gender, family
income, parents educational attainment, and grades for the last school year attended. It also needs
to identify the school climate condition that provides school to understand the working condition
and leadership, instructional focus and physical environment. It will also investigate students

How Did Life Change For The Upper Class After French...
How did life change for the upper class after the French Revolution? Life changed extremely for
the upper class. Before the French Revolution, the upper class owned lots of land, didn t have to
pay taxes and was very wealthy. Which meant they could buy expensive food and clothing. They
lived off the sweat of peasants. They were seen as greedy who contributed nothing. The upper
class only made up 2% of society. The upper class was very cohere to all their privileges. But this
all changed during the Revolution, the upper class began fearing to lose their privileges and they
soon tried to escape. Later on, they were imposed to come back, being humiliated by the order of a
lower class. Consequently, after the Revolution, they had to face a great

Job Description And Application Of Wehrman
Interview
I interviewed, Kathy Wehrman, for the final research project. (Wehrman K., personal
communication, March 18, 2016) She is the Associate Assistant Director of Human Resources at
Luxottica and has recently been promoted to this position in January of 2016. Wehrman has been in
the workforce for nearly 17 years and has worked at Luxottica for 4 years. A job description of
Wehrman s current position entails the responsibility of maintaining and enhancing the Luxottica s
human resources program. Obligations include planning, developing and implementing employee
relations, policies, programs and strategies.
In the interview, Wehrman discusses the interview process she went through at Luxottica as well as
advice on ways to handle each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wehrman states, it s important in this step to make a connection with your interviewer so it can
potentially convince them to hire you . The fourth step Wehrman mentions is that she received a
phone call from the hiring manager immediately after sending her thank you email. During this
phone call, Wehrman was offered a job as a human resource specialist.
Wehrman explains how negotiation was intertwined into the interview process. She said the
subject of salary was brought up by the hiring manager at the of the end of the phone call where
she was offered the job. Wehrman wasn t happy with the offer she received so she told the hiring
manager she will have to get back to them. She explains that this was her time to think about her
approach on how she wanted to negotiate the starting salary and benefit package she deserved.
Wehrman confuses that she was unsure about the company s budgets and salary guidelines so
she had to do research in order to establish a salary and have evidence to support her claim. She
reviewed salaries on the glassdoor website where she found a salary base to her job position.
Then she closely reviewed the benefit package she was offered and made adjustments to where she
saw merit to her qualifications. Wehrman called the hiring manager back the following day. She
states, I wanted to call him

Shakespeare s Presentation of Shylock in the Merchant of...
Shakespeare s Presentation of Shylock in the Merchant of Venice
In the Merchant of Venice, Shylock is continually involved in the bond plot. This plot is probably
the most intense story line in this Shakespeare play. Bassanio borrows money from Shylock in
Antonio s name in order to impress Portia, however after a tragic incident involving all of Antonio s
ships crashing; the money has failed to be returned. According to their bargain Antonio must now
give Shylock a pound of his flesh. Shakespeare uses Shylock is this play in order to provoke
feelings of sympathy but also of hatred towards the villain in this play the Jew.

When Shylock accuses Antonio of spurning him, Antonio replies with call thee so again and spit
on thee again . This, is my opinion, justifies the revengeful side of Shylock. Shylock talks down
the forfeit of a pound of flesh but Shylock really wants to profit from Antonio s death, as he will
be able to charge higher interest rates when Antonio can no longer undercut him. By the end of this
scene we find Shylock bitter, greedy and also intelligent, however his eloquent description of
Antonio s abusive language and behaviour redresses the balance a little in his favour.
His daughter s elopement with a Christian and the theft of his money and jewels also give us
pause for thought about our attitude towards him (Act 2 Scene 5). Shylock leaves the house he
gives Jessica the responsibility of being in charge of the house. He strictly instructs her to keep
the house and goods secure. This is quite ironic as whilst he is gone, she takes his wealth and
disguises herself in order to elope with Lorenzo. This isn t surprising as in Act 2 Scene 3, Jessica
talk about how unhappy she is living with her father. Jessica is ashamed of Shylock, which
congregates feelings of compassion for him because of the fact that she is ashamed of him.
However, the comic way in which he is displayed as reacting to this event and his cry of

Number Three In Dante s Inferno Essay
Number three has a significant role throughout the whole comedy Inferno. The poem is written in a
special form which contains exactly three lines. This can be related to Dante s belief in a special
power of the number three in Christian tradition.
Also, number three has a significant meaning in the content of the comedy. In the beginning Dante
meets three animals a leopard, a lion and she wolf, those beasts represent three types of sins.
When Dante and Virgil get closer to Lucifer, they can see that he has three heads, also in each
mouth he has three greatest sinners in history Judas, Brutus and Cassius.
In the first Canto, Dante tells his story that after he reached the middle of his life journey, he once
got lost in the forest and woke to find myself [Dante] in a dark wood (Inferno, Canto I, 2). Dante
got scared of being alone in the dark until he saw a light. After he rested tired body there for
awhile , he started to climb and then he saw three beasts (Canto I, 28). ... Show more content on

He was saved by a poet Virgil, who offered him a trip to the underworld. And Dante could not
refuse this proposition.
In the beginning of the poem we find Dante s character at a loss. He lived half of his life already,
but he is confused and lost at this point. His journey to the underworld starts in the moment of
despair, when he doesn t have any particular life goals. He has doubts believing in himself. He
thinks that he sinned a lot and needs to find his true path in

SALAD Term Paper
S.A.L.A.D is the acronym for sound alike and look alike drugs. In this perspective, SALAD
drugs are prescription medications that have names or appearances that look similar and can
easily confuse someone (Manasse Thompson, 2007), especially if the person is in a rush or the
prescription handwriting is ineligible. Some of these drugs are remarkably similar while others
need incomplete prescribing information, poor communication, listening skills, or a lack of
knowledge about the drugs for an error to occur (Goldberg, 2013). Examples of SALD drugs fall
under various categories. Examples of SALAD drugs are aminophylline and amitriptyline;
amoxicillin and ampicillin; promazine and promethazine; quinidine and quinine; and volmax and
Flomax just to name a few. The sound alike and look alike drugs are required to be prescribed with
care. First, heightened awareness of SALAD medications is necessary to avoid harm. SALAD
medications may contain products that may have the potential to cause harm when used incorrectly
(Manasse Thompson, 2007). A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It, therefore, implies that when a person gets the wrong name of the prescription drug, it means
that the patient will not receive the required treatment. The other reason why we should have
increased awareness on SALAD medications is that some of these drugs contain ephedra, caffeine,
and phenylpropanolamine and people who have used the drugs containing these compounds have
developed convulsions and fell into comas (Goldberg, 2013). In some extreme cases, the patient
may develop complications which were not present before. Next, the customers should be able to
minimize the risk of getting wrong medications. Also, the consumers can be aware of a particular
drug that is administered and the proper use of the drug. The consumers can be able to confirm if
the physician has clearly written the drug s name by trying to read

The Individualism Of The American Colonies
In this passage, Paine emphasizes how the unique individualism of the American colonies cannot
exist under Great Britain. While it may be a rational and more peaceful decision to remain under
Great Britain s control, the oppression of the American colonies individualism is one that goes
against common sense and is a situation that calls for a passionate revolution. The emphasis on
individualism and passionate expression of the self during the late 18th and early 19th century is
also exemplified in the musical realm through the revolutionary work of one of the most highly
influential musicians, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At the time of Mozart s birth, the most popular
and conventional music was created in the style of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. After
the discovery of Mozart s prodigal musical genius and honing his skill through several positions of
employment, Mozart began to realize his individualism as a gifted artist. Mozart became aware of
his potential for greatness and used his gift not to conform to the style of music at the time, but to
use his music as a form of passionate self expression. Mozart would not let anything extinguish his
passion and freedom to create, even if it caused him great financial struggle throughout most of
adulthood. The musical pieces Mozart created differed from that the music of the time in the sense
that his work was highly driven by passion and emotion. Rather than focusing solely on the
structure and the elaborateness of the

Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph...
This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona
Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp.
There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other
parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that
she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In
addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key
details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American
ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe
gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound
fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves
and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter
Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his
agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found
that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although
Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully
lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. Over a short period of

The Birth Control Pill: Providing Surprises In Life

Research Paper
Abstract The pharmaceutical field has overcome countless medical feats since the early times.
While the pill itself was considered a brand new invention, the idea of creating a birth control pill
was not. Since the old times primitive condoms were made from animal intestines and fish
bladders. However, it wasn t until after Margaret Sanger s multiple convictions and persistent
attitude, that a judge ended the Comstock era, providing Sanger with the opportunity to stress the
importance of having birth control in th for of a pill to the public. In less than a decade after ... Show

An example of this would be during world war one when the United States government tried to
teach their soldiers abstinence. However, this only resulted in U.S. troops obtaining condoms while
abroad. As a result, in 1918, condoms became legal again when the war ended.
Creation of the Birth Control Pill No one person created the product of the birth control pill. In
fact, many died before the process could be completed. To begin with, an Austrian physiology
professor named Ludwig Haberlandt demonstrated on mice that fertility could be prevented by
feeding the mice ovarian extracts. In 1920, a man named Otfried Otto Fellner gave steroids to
various animals which also prevented fertility. He created an extract called Infecundin which he
never got the chance of administering due to his early death. On the other hand, because of
Austria s takeover due to Hitler s reign in Germany, Fellner vanished never to be found again.
The idea of steroid chemistry at the time was a relatively new concept. During this time it took
over 80 thousand sow ovaries to produce only 12 milligrams of estradiol, an estrogen found in
ovaries. To produce 1 milligram of progesterone, it toke the ovaries of 2500 pigs. It would not be
until the early 1940s that Russell Marker discovers the process to manufacture massive amounts of
steroid hormones could be produced to lower the consumer cost. Marker believed that the solution
to this issue would be found in a

Somali Pirates and the Response of The United States Essay
To begin, pirates have been prowling the seas as far back as ancient times, such as the
Phoenicians and Greeks in the Mediterranean. As well Muslim piracy as Jihad has existed since
the 17th Century along the Barbary Coast of North Africa.2 These pirates were known as Barbary
corsairs, and they would attack ships from Christian countries, seizing their ships and, and selling
the sailors into slavery. Today, Somali pirates are seizing ships and taking hostages for ransom
along the waters off the coast of Somali and the Gulf of Aden.
The root of the Somali pirates was established then put into motion after the Somali Civil War and
the fall of the Barre regime in 1991, the last functioning government.4 Along with the government,

Because of the poverty, lack of employment, environmental hardship, pitifully low incomes,
reduction of pastoralist and maritime resources due to drought and illegal fishing and a volatile

one thing the pirate trade is easy to do; there is no real fear of their targeted victims shooting at
them, because by International agreement, civilian vessels cannot have guns.7 The money a
pirate earns is great, and has made the pirates the country s most eligible bachelors, pirating has
become Somalia s biggest industry. 7 In 2008, Sugule Ali, a pirate who was part of the seizing of

are added to plastics keeping in mind the end goal to expand their adaptability, toughness, and life

the fact that they can bring about unfavorably susceptible responses and even asthma assaults.

Book Review Of Louise Pubols s The Father Of All
The opening chapters of Louise Pubols s well written and carefully documented study of the de la
Guerra family of Santa BГЎrbara, California, clearly demonstrate why she chose to title her book
The Father of All. Spanish born military officer JosГ© de la Guerra is the central figure in this
history, and members of his large familyplay important supporting roles.
He arrived in Alta California in 1801 and quickly established California roots with his marriage to
MarГa Antonia Carrillo y Lugo, daughter of his commanding officer. The Carrillos and the Lugos
were typical of the province s earliest settlers, racially mixed individuals who had left the
impoverished towns and mining centers of Sinaloa and Sonora in search of better times, racial
whitening, and upward social mobility through military service.
De la Guerra became commander of the Santa BГЎrbara presidio in 1815, a position he held until
1827. His Spanish birth, military rank, connections in Mexico City, wife s extended family, and
shrewd business acumen helped him build a diversified enterprise that survived the political turmoil
and shifting economic climate of California in the first half of the nineteenth century.
His official responsibility for overseeing presidio accounts and supply chains enabled him to steer
contracts toward his uncle s Mexico City trading firm and to his own burgeoning commercial
ventures. He carefully nurtured relationships with ship captains and Franciscan missionaries, many
of them fellow Spaniards, and garnered handsome commissions trading with merchants from Peru
and the Philippines as well as New Spain.
By the 1820s, de la Guerra had broadened his business and family ties to include merchants from
Great Britain and the United States. His daughter Teresa s marriage to a Briton and her sister Anita
s to an American formed part of a calculated strategy to capture the potentially hostile traders and
integrate them into Californio systems of family obligation and dependence (p. 10). He further
consolidated his networks of patronage and trust through compadrazgo, the fictive kinship relations
among individuals and their children s godparents. Missions, rancheros, soldiers, farmers, and
artisans all came to depend on him to

Background on the public health problem (Problem statement)
Confronted by challenges ranging from high poverty levels, disease outbreaks and devastating
natural disasters, the government of Haiti has been working tirelessly with external organizations to
support the country s resilient population. Adding to the range of adverse circumstances already
facing the country, Haiti struggles with the growing burden of breast cancer while lacking the health

exist are often prohibitively expensive, and care is often fragmented because of the absence of
centralized and coordinated health services.

When playing a sport, you are taught to go out and win but to have fun at the same time. My

at this level, we were losing the football game. Since we were losing, we were not having fun. I
was told by coaches and by myself that I needed to slow down and regain my composure. As
soon as I got that into my head, we began creeping back into the game and we were on top by the
fourth quarter. We were winning, having fun, and enjoying all the glory. Ever since that football
game I have remembered that day and made myself slow down if I am hurrying things. I believe
that this factor will carry on through life and make me a better individual. All in all team sports

to modern propulsion system such as propeller, internal combustion engine, ramjet engine and gas

almost exclusively involved in astronautics and will not be discussed.
As an engineer will have to decide the best combination of engine and thrust device to attach to an

A jet engine follows Newton s Third law and as such the rushing hot gases creates a force in the
opposite and parallel direction.
Propulsion systems are not jet engine exclusive. Propulsion system are the constant Conversion any
of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion to produce thrust. Thus it can be
viewed as an energy transformer.
This transformation is however not perfect and brings into account how efficient the system is. The
efficiency is the ratio between the input and intended output of the system. This unfortunately is
never 100% and is a critical factor that plays into propulsion systems and fuel options.
DRAG
Drag is the aeronautical term for the air resistance encounter by an object in motion. Drag acts in
the inverse direction to the objects movement through the air as it constrains its movement and acts
parallel to the relative wind stream.
Drag can be managed in aircraft and countered by increasing its aerodynamic properties. These
include incorporating streamlined shapes, having cleaned surfaces, implementing flush fitting bolts
and also several other configuration characteristics.
The secondary responsibility of an aircraft s engine is to handle and conquer the drag. However, the
more thrust produced the more air resistance encountered and consequently produces increased drag
on the aircraft.

The The Souls Of White Folks
India was under imperialistic rule by the British Empire or the Bristish Raj from 1858 to
1947.The region under British control commonly called India in the British period included
areas directly administered by the United Kingdom as well as the princely states ruled by
individual rulers under the paramount of the British throne. In my recent visit to London
precious jewels and Indian made goods are displaced in Windsor castle under high security.
Most of the goods accumulated from India were under Queen Victoria s reign; the other
monarchs who were reigning during this imperialistic time were Edward VII, George V, Edward

with this difference, however: Europe has the awful lesson of the past before her, has the splendid

The Media s Role Of A Democratic Nation
The news media is an important aspect of a democratic nation, as one of their roles is to be a voice
of the public to mediate between the public and the government. Anderson (2007) asserts that the
normative roles of the news media in a democratic society are to undertake the role of the fourth
estate, act as a watchdog, and when necessary, as a counterbalance to those in society who abuse
their power. In other words, the media s function in society is critical to ensuring a balanced
governance and providing reliable information to the public. It is the primary institution within
which the public can better understand its society and the world around them. This paper

They are also expected to report news that informs, engages and educates the public on issues that
affect them, news that is independent of vested interest (Mcquail, 1994). Most of the ethical codes
as stated above, concentrate on providing reliable information to the public as well as avoiding bias
and sensationalism in the news.
On the other hand, Atton (2003) describes alternative media as a critical means to challenge the
standardised and professionalised practices of mainstream media. It is guided by a purpose other
than profit, unlike mainstream media which is often structured to promote consumption of the
products it advertises (Skinner, 2009). Alternative media does not claim to be objective. It does not
consider itself bound by the conventions of journalism. It sees itself as providing a platform for
everyone to voice their opinions (i.e. a platform for horizontal communication) (Hackett Zhao,
2002). What I found through my research is that mainstream media does not always follow its role
of maintaining ideal journalistic standards. It more often focuses on reporting sensational news for
entertainment commercial purposes, rather than news that intellectually informs, engages and
educates the public. Mehrotra (2011) defines media sensationalism as the style of reporting news to
the public which involves use of fear, anger, excitement and crude thrill undertaken by the media to

Placing the Blame in Macbeth Essay
Placing the Blame in Macbeth
The blame for the tragedy of Macbeth must be apportioned between the three witches, Lady
Macbeth and Macbeth himself.
The three witches play a very important role in affecting the actions of Macbeth with their ability to
steer him in the direction they desire. They not only use their supernatural powers but also prey on
his greed and ambition.
All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee thane of Glamis!
All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor!
All hail Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter!
These predictions are effective in attracting Macbeth s attention because they feed off his desire for
what they promise. At this point in the play he is the newly ... Show more content on

His vivid imagination, coupled with his fear of the witches and the supernatural in general, is
shown in the lines:
Macbeth I conjure you, by that which you profess
(howe er you come to know it) answer me;
though you untie the winds and let them fight against the churches, though the yeasty waves
confound and swallow navigation up
His weakness is also shown in the way that once he starts his path he becomes consumed by the
process and plunges deeper into a quagmire of murder and tyranny:
Macbeth I am in blood
Step t in so far that, should I wade no more,
Returning were as tedious as go o er
Another set of beliefs held at that time was that all things were set in their correct places and this
applied to people as well. The play could be hinting that Macbeth should have been able to master
his own ambition and reconcile himself to his place in life.
The fact that the witches can affect Macbeth so easily shows what a weak character he has. The
first predictions have such a strong influence on Macbeth that he sends his wife, Lady Macbeth, a
letter asking her advice on how to respond to the witches words, showing again the weakness of his
character.
The tragedy of Macbeth could simply be the tale of a hero who is destroyed by a certain weakness
of character, by ambition

Nelson Mandela s President Of The African National Congress
In 1991, Mandela was chosen to be president of the African National Congress. Mandela kept a
balance between armed resistance and negotiations. In 1993, Mandela received the Nobel Peace
Prize along with President de Klerk, for the duty of dismantling the apartheid. In 1994, South
Africa held its first democratic election and Nelson Mandela was inaugurated on May 10, 1994.
He was South Africa s first black president, at the time he was 77, and chose de Klerk as his first

Following tradition, Mandela s guardian arranged a marriage for him and Mandela was not so
happy with the idea. He thought his freedom was being taken away so he decided to run away to
Johannesburg. There he had many jobs and he continued studying to get his degree. Mandela then
joined the African National Congress in 1942, him along with a group of young Africans wanted

Male Gender Roles And Women
In society today, boys and girls are taught by those around them that there are but two ways only
to live a life the manly way and the feminine way and that to stray from one s designated role in
the world is unacceptable. Men in particular suffer from the confinement of gender roles and are
exposed pitilessly to society s punishing repercussions if one chooses to defy his preordained
position. I myself have felt the pungent sting of the male genderrole in my own life, having grown
up alongside a twin brother who was about as manly as a boycan be. I can recall one day only a few

precedent of aggression, barbarity, and dominance for men to follow to be perceived as normal

everyday by the world around them to put aside traditionally feminine tendencies and behave
like a man beginning, first and foremost, in the home. The household serves as a boy s initial

Essay on Jesse Cleveland Owens
James Cleveland Owens otherwise known as Jesse was an Olympic long jumper and sprinter
whose speed and inspirational defiance of Hitler shocked the world. The 1936 Olympics were
held in Berlin and Adolf Hitler of the Nazi party believed that these Olympic Games would
showcase the great skill of the Aryan (Caucasian) race, and the last person he would expect to
show him up would be an African American man (Barnes 1). With sixty six U.S. Olympic
contestants competing in the Games, the American race was really put on the spot in front of
Hitler, the most powerful man in the world (Smith 1). Jesse Owenswas one of these men, and while

Owens was an underprivileged African Americanboy that grew up in the south during the early
nineteen hundreds, his chances of making the Olympics were far out of his reach. He was born
in Oakville, Alabama and was the youngest in the family with six brothers and three sisters
(Barnes 1). At the age of nine Owens family moved to Columbus Ohio because of the bad
economy and segregation that was prominent in the south. When Jesse was five he had
developed a life threatening tumor on his chest, but because of his families overwhelming
poverty he never received proper medical care (McCoy 1). However according to McCoy (1),
One day Jesse woke up to his mother Mary standing over him with a sterilized knife and boiling
water. She cut the tumor off her baby boy, causing him to bleed for three days. Fortunately, he
survived the amateur surgery. Surprisingly this surgery performed by his mother was successful
and Owens never had issues with the tumor or the surgery at any time in his life. As a kid Jesse
was very shy and it was because of this shyness he possessed that he is called Jesse Owens today.

that he can encourage Puritans of this time to fight off the sins that trouble them, and God will

The Importance Of Civil Rights In The United States
Throughout the history of the United States of America, various groups have risen to demand equal
treatment under the law. In many cases the treatment they were seeking was in part pursued based
on the fact that they believed they were entitled to as a American citizen. In many instances these
groups were successful in advocating their position based what they felt were their rights under the
Constitution of the United States. Some of the rights sought were based on civil right, and some
were based on civil liberties. Each time a group or an individual has risen to protect such rights;
they have been met with considerable opposition from the many who interpret such rights

Often groups will leverage civil liberties protections to make their case for acceptance or to gain
political clout to progress their cause. The pursuit of such an advantage means that a decision of
which fundamental value will be used to advance the issue. Some of the values that provide the
best argument are often competing with each other. The Value of Freedom, or complete absence
of restrictions or barriers, is a concept that was relevant during the times of slavery but is in
direct conflict with the concept of order. Order is achieved by erecting restrictions and barriers.
However the very order reduces the purity of Freedom. The most commonly pursued value is that
of equality. The desire for equality has driven groups to organize effectively and make the case to
end slavery, and eventually capitalize on legislation that created the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Suicidal Thoughts In America
Have you ever been bullied or had suicidal thoughts? There is one death by suicide in the world

A bully is someone who uses superior strength or influence to intimidate someone typically to force
him or her to do what one wants. Depression is feelings of severe hopelessness and downhearted.
Suicide is the act or instance of taking one s life voluntarily and intentionally. Suicides are lowest

Comparing Two Art Styles
In the study of the Humanities one can find a vast list of the different styles and periods of

Ethics Of The Mentally Ill
The topic of ethics for the care of the mentally ill has become widely debated in the UK. Recent
statistics show a 5% increase 2013 14 vs. 2012 13 in the detentions under the Mental Health Act, a
30% increase from 2002 2003 (October 2014, Health and Social Care Information Centre, http:/
/www.hscic.gov.uk/5164). The increase places tremendous pressure on the National Health Service
(NHS) to balance the best possible care, with resource. There are a number complexities that arise
to strike the balance in risk and rights, when faced with challenging behaviour of the mentally ill.
The NHS places the respect of all patients values first. This includes an individual s cultural view,
dignity, privacy and independence (NHS Patient Experience Framework www.institute.nhs.uk).
This essay examines ethics in healthcare focusing on physical restraint. In order to create an
analytical view on this subject, the 1998 death of David Bennett a 38 year old, Rastafarian African
Caribbean, has been cited.
Mental illness can change a persons capacity to make rational and safe decisions, often creating a
contradiction in actions to their core ethics and beliefs (Mind, Mental health crisis care: physical
restraint in crisis report, June 2013). David Bennett had suffered with schizophrenia for nearly 20
years, leading to aggressive changes in his mood. On the evening of David s death he had an

It is probably that Lidl know that culturally, young and modern members of generation Y will not
have them as their first choice employer, it will be somewhere trendy like Apple therefore they
have to offer the chance to develop the skills that management as a whole wants, i.e. fast subject
skills.
The word star suggests that Lidl are looking for someone special, in modern day society we are
obsessed with stars and celebrities; this advertisement says that you can be the star of the business
world and gain all the associated benefits such as money to fund the lifestyle of this creature, but
also the social benefits such as respect and interest from others.
Cadbury s (p. 91) graduate jobs advertisement in the guide shows a reminder of the popular
gorilla television advert for the firm s products. This image links to our culture, what is cool and
modern, again showing the link between the world of management and society overall. It is also
recent, showing that it is aimed at young professionals who can do it all; they can gain a good
degree whilst also being aware of what is going on socially around them. Along with using the
expected language, the text includes the word brand which attracts prospective employees because
they want to work for this company so when they tell people where they work, the people will
know where it is and be interested.
At the bottom of this advertisement, it says we love what we do. We think

Sororities as a Social Institution Essay
When one first thinks of Greek life or a sorority the only thing that comes to mind is the social
aspect. Most people don t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture,
with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However,
these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a
way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. Greek organizations are good
examples of how institutions can affect and be affected by social status and roles within the
collegiate community. They are also a prime example of how race, class and gender can affect a
social setting in both positive and negative manners. Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Within sororities is a language all their own; many words are created or used in a different
manner. For example, big is not an adjective that describes something grand or large as in the
English language. However, big is a term used to describe an older sister whose is assigned to a
younger sister within the organization to be a mentor and a friend. Another example is the word
waltz , which is not referring to a ballroom dance but rather the celebration of a sister s twenty first
birthday. Even the word sister is a part of a sororities unique language as it does not denote the
relationship between blood related relatives, but rather signifies the sister like bonds between
members. This language is imperative to a sorority s culture because it unifies members under a
commonality that distinguishes them from other groups and organizations, much like racial and
religious cultures. Each sorority also has different gestures, much like the language, that are
individualized to each sorority and help distinguish one from the other. Every sorority has a hand
gesture to designate what sorority they are in. Members use this gesture in pictures, when
participating in events and many other times to help differentiate members. Also, sororities have
gestures that encompass all organizations to help distinguish themselves as being in a sorority. For
example, the sorority squat is a common tool used by a big and little to distinguish their roles in a
picture.

Story Of An Hour And The Interlopers Comparison
The Story of an Hour and The Interlopers are both interesting stories about death. Both stories
contain the subject of death but The Interlopers is suspenseful while The Story of an Hour is just
sad. Even though The Story of an Hour and The Interlopers are written on two different topics they
are still similar, but they both have their differences. In the story The Interlopers deathis an event
that no one wants or expects to happen. In the story of an hour death is a surprise but it is not
unnatural. In the story of an hour it comes as a surprise to hear that her husband died in a train
wreck. In the book The Interlopers it comes as a surprise that both men are willing to make up
their differences and realize how stupid their lifelong Coral has been. In The Interlopers the

Mallard neighbors find out that her husband has died they try to break the news to her softly so

train wreck, so her surprise at seeing him walk in the door alive causes her to die. Some of the
things that are very different about these two stories are the setting. In The Interlopers the setting
is outside in the woods on a cold and stormy winter night. In the story of an hour the setting is in
an apartment building during a warm sunny spring day. Another thing that is very different

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Tax
Adding a 25 cent charge towards plastic bags would be a mistake. I am against the idea that our
state should consider the idea of adding the charge because it could lead to other issues. I believe
that we don t have to pay for the bags now, so what difference does it make if we decide to add the
tax? Adding the tax will cause issues for those who use plastic bags, cause paper bags to become
more popular, and cause a high demand in reusable bags. A bagtax that could assist in the affair,
but isn t necessary and should not be added. I don t believe that the tax on plastic bags can solve
the issues that are caused by people who are careless. Punishing those who use plastic bags isn t
fair when they might not even be the ones who are causing the controversy. Adding a bag tax is not
going to help us in any way.
Adding the 25 cent charge bag tax would be a mistake because it will cause issues for people
who use plastic bags. I understand that adding the tax will allow people to realize that plastic
bags have become an issue for our environment. But adding the tax to those who use plastic isn t
fair when they would rather have plastic to use around the house instead of having to worry
about paper bags or remembering to bring along with them reusable bags to the store. I don t find
it fair to only tax those who wish to use plastic bags. Industires who produce plastic bags can
make them very efficiently, as they are produced on a daily schedule. As they are easier to produce,

Olaratumab Case Study
Sarcomas are rare and considerably heterogeneous malignant tumours with a plethora of different
tumour behaviours, corresponding to almost 1.5% of all adult malignancies2. For most sarcoma
subtypes the mainstay of management for localized disease is complete surgical resection with or
without radiation. However, despite optimal treatment about 50% of patients with high grade
tumours will develop metastatic disease. The outcome for patients with advanced STS is poor with
a median overall survival of approximately 18 months. Furthermore, historically the treatment
options for patients with advanced disease have been limited. The introduction of imatinib and

Olaratumab signifies a meaningful improvement of clinical efficacy (mOS gain of nearly a year
and an acceptable toxicity profile, both as a monotherapy and in combination) in a disease
setting, where several agents and combinations have failed418619 and based on the Phase II data
has gained approval in a number of countries in combination with doxorubicin. Moreover, should
the ongoing trials of the combination of olaratumab with gemcitabine/docetaxel20 (table 2) be
confirmatory of its clinical efficacy and tolerability, the use of olaratumab is anticipated to be
incorporated in several standard regimens and become a key innovation in the management of
patients with advanced STS. Expert Opinion The efficacy results observed in the JGDG trial
undoubtedly represent a promising agent for the treatment of this challenging group of diseases.
However, these results should be met with an equal degree of diligent consideration and carefully
interpreted. Although we have potentially taken a positive step forward, it is often that earlier
Phase trial outcomes fail to replicate in randomised studies21. Besides, early Phase studies are
frequently subject to selection, surveillance, and publication bias. It included patients with a
variety of different histotypes and satisfactory PS (up to ECOG 2), which is more representative
of the real life patient in clinical practice and doxorubicin was the single only comparator, allowing

The Tone Of August Wilson
The tone that August Wilson uses is an approachable and lofty blend at the same time. To begin
with the protagonist of fences, Troy is a mindful man whose dreams are obstructed, this makes him
have confidence in self made fantasies. The play first begins with an entertaining story about his
struggle with a personified Death character.
In addition to this Troy has the ability to live in a fictitious world, denying his affair with
Alberta. Troy instigates conflict as a result of his ability to believe in self made illusions and his
inability to acknowledge other s decisions in life when they vary from Troy s own philosophy.
Troy s name symbolically exhibits Troy s character as one who lives on a line between two
contradicting thoughts. Troy Maxson begins the play loved, admired and getting away with his
secret affair. Yet, inevitably, Troy s death leaves many negative characteristics as a legacy for his
family to deal with and acknowledge.
Although this may be true, the setting is set in the dirt yard of the Maxson house. All this seems
notable that the Maxson s aren t the richest people in town. Clearly, the set remind us that money
is a constant concern for Troy and his family. They relay in Troy s salary as garbage collector.
Furthermore, we see that August Wilsondid name his play Fences because of the dramatic action
depends strongly on the building of a fence in the Maxson s backyard. The character s lives
change around the fence which serves as both a literal and a

I. Introduction: (attention getter and transition to get to thesis)
Attention Getter: About 400,000 people are living with hemophilia, a rare blood disorder that
causes blood to clot abnormally. Many of these people also develop HIV and AIDS, an immune
deficiency. Even more shocking is the 78 million people living with HIV. All of these conditions
are lifelong and fatal. Over 40 million people each year die of HIV or hemophilia. What s even
more terrifying is the amount of misinformation pertaining to these subjects, such as the difference
between HIV and AIDs, and the causes of these conditions.
Thesis Statement: Today were going to focus on how hemophilia, HIV, and AIDs are linked, their
effects and treatments, and how they have changed from the first outbreak in the 1980 s.

Temporary Assistance For Needy Families Research Paper
Abstract
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (TANF) and employment goes hand in
hand when dealing with low income families. When Congress introduced the block grant in the
late nineties to fund the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, it was
designed to help low income families. Statistics shows that the number of low income families
has been on the rise for a while. Even with the program s increase of cash benefits, families are
struggling to make ends meet. This program has taken some major hits from the state and federal
government, human service professionals and its participants. Is the TANF program right for low
income families? Does the program need to be revamped? This paper provides the answer to both
questions along with history information, purpose of programs, eligibility qualifications, federal
guidelines and literature reviews.
How does the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families(TANF) program affect employment for
low income families? As mentioned earlier Congress introduced the Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families (TANF) program block grant in 1996 for low income families. It was by was of the

Morals In America Today Essay
Morals of America Today The morals of America are not what they used to be. Slowly but surly
they have been degraded and are about to wither away all together. A person s morals are created
through how one is raised, and what one is taught to believe in or stand for. Those who grow up
with weak roots, or don t build themselves a solid foundation to sand on for life, will fall into
whatever is around them, making their morals the same as what they see in their environment.
There are many reasons that morals of the average American are waning, but the main reasons
are due to where someone is raised, how they were disciplined and what they are exposed to as they
grow up. Today a persons morals can very on how they are raised and disciplined.... Show more

Half of Americans today can hardly even communicate in a polite or formal manner. For John,
there never was anyone for him to learn from in his home or social environment. In the past,
those with good morals held doors, said please and thank you, and approached an elder by
saying ma am or sir. Today, many parents don t teach their children what used to be considered
common manners and general good morals. In fact people simply don t communicate at all.
Like John, many people of American society today don t hold doors for others and surly don t
say thank you if someone happens to do it for them. So many people today want to be able to
depend on themselves and nobody else, like John does when he runs away. In today s American
society, people don t say excuse me or ask for help. Instead they shove themselves through a
crowd, let the door shut in someone else s face, or refuse help because they have decided they
don t need anything from anyone else. John quit school for several reasons, but he quit because
he felt that he didn t need an education. He didn t feel he needed that help from anyone because
he could cheat his way through life without book smarts because he had street smarts . Many
people see life as being rough, and in a lot of ways it is, and they decide to be rough right back.
This is the cause of the major moral decline in America today. Americans generally have no regard
for anyone but

Before the French Revolution, the upper class owned lots of land, didn t have to pay taxes and was very wealthy. Which meant they could buy expensive food and clothing. They lived off the sweat of peasants. They were seen as greedy who contributed nothing. The upper class only made up 2% of society. The upper class was very cohere to all their privileges. But this all changed during the Revolution, the upper class began fearing to lose their privileges and they soon tried to escape. Later on, they were imposed to come back, being humiliated by the order of a lower class. Consequently, after the Revolution, they had to face a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Wehrman K., personal communication, March 18, 2016) She is the Associate Assistant Director of Human Resources at Luxottica and has recently been promoted to this position in January of 2016. Wehrman has been in the workforce for nearly 17 years and has worked at Luxottica for 4 years. A job description of Wehrman s current position entails the responsibility of maintaining and enhancing the Luxottica s human resources program. Wehrman states, it s important in this step to make a connection with your interviewer so it can potentially convince them to hire you . The fourth step Wehrman mentions is that she received a phone call from the hiring manager immediately after sending her thank you email. During this phone call, Wehrman was offered a job as a human resource specialist. Wehrman explains how negotiation was intertwined into the interview process. She said the subject of salary was brought up by the hiring manager at the of the end of the phone call where she was offered the job. Wehrman wasn t happy with the offer she received so she told the hiring manager she will have to get back to them. She explains that this was her time to think about her approach on how she wanted to negotiate the starting salary and benefit package she deserved. Wehrman confuses that she was unsure about the company s budgets and salary guidelines so she had to do research in order to establish a salary and have evidence to support her claim. She reviewed salaries on the glassdoor website where she found a salary base to her job position. Then she closely reviewed the benefit package she was offered and made adjustments to where she saw merit to her qualifications. Wehrman called the hiring manager back the following day. • 5. Shakespeare s Presentation of Shylock in the Merchant of... Shakespeare s Presentation of Shylock in the Merchant of Venice In the Merchant of Venice, Shylock is continually involved in the bond plot. This plot is probably the most intense story line in this Shakespeare play. Bassanio borrows money from Shylock in Antonio s name in order to impress Portia, however after a tragic incident involving all of Antonio s ships crashing; the money has failed to be returned. According to their bargain Antonio must now give Shylock a pound of his flesh. Shakespeare uses Shylock is this play in order to provoke feelings of sympathy but also of hatred towards the villain in this play the Jew. However you can t help but feel compassion for his situation as he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Shylock accuses Antonio of spurning him, Antonio replies with call thee so again and spit on thee again . This, is my opinion, justifies the revengeful side of Shylock. Shylock talks down the forfeit of a pound of flesh but Shylock really wants to profit from Antonio s death, as he will be able to charge higher interest rates when Antonio can no longer undercut him. By the end of this scene we find Shylock bitter, greedy and also intelligent, however his eloquent description of Antonio s abusive language and behaviour redresses the balance a little in his favour. His daughter s elopement with a Christian and the theft of his money and jewels also give us pause for thought about our attitude towards him (Act 2 Scene 5). Shylock leaves the house he gives Jessica the responsibility of being in charge of the house. He strictly instructs her to keep the house and goods secure. This is quite ironic as whilst he is gone, she takes his wealth and disguises herself in order to elope with Lorenzo. This isn t surprising as in Act 2 Scene 3, Jessica talk about how unhappy she is living with her father. Jessica is ashamed of Shylock, which congregates feelings of compassion for him because of the fact that she is ashamed of him. However, the comic way in which he is displayed as reacting to this event and his cry of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Number Three In Dante s Inferno Essay Number three has a significant role throughout the whole comedy Inferno. The poem is written in a special form which contains exactly three lines. This can be related to Dante s belief in a special power of the number three in Christian tradition. Also, number three has a significant meaning in the content of the comedy. In the beginning Dante meets three animals a leopard, a lion and she wolf, those beasts represent three types of sins. When Dante and Virgil get closer to Lucifer, they can see that he has three heads, also in each mouth he has three greatest sinners in history Judas, Brutus and Cassius. In the first Canto, Dante tells his story that after he reached the middle of his life journey, he once got lost in the forest and woke to find myself [Dante] in a dark wood (Inferno, Canto I, 2). Dante got scared of being alone in the dark until he saw a light. After he rested tired body there for awhile , he started to climb and then he saw three beasts (Canto I, 28). ... • 7. SALAD Term Paper S.A.L.A.D is the acronym for sound alike and look alike drugs. In this perspective, SALAD drugs are prescription medications that have names or appearances that look similar and can easily confuse someone (Manasse Thompson, 2007), especially if the person is in a rush or the prescription handwriting is ineligible. Some of these drugs are remarkably similar while others need incomplete prescribing information, poor communication, listening skills, or a lack of knowledge about the drugs for an error to occur (Goldberg, 2013). Examples of SALD drugs fall under various categories. Examples of SALAD drugs are aminophylline and amitriptyline; amoxicillin and ampicillin; promazine and promethazine; quinidine and quinine; and volmax and Flomax just to name a few. The sound alike and look alike drugs are required to be prescribed with care. First, heightened awareness of SALAD medications is necessary to avoid harm. It, therefore, implies that when a person gets the wrong name of the prescription drug, it means that the patient will not receive the required treatment. The other reason why we should have increased awareness on SALAD medications is that some of these drugs contain ephedra, caffeine, and phenylpropanolamine and people who have used the drugs containing these compounds have developed convulsions and fell into comas (Goldberg, 2013). In some extreme cases, the patient may develop complications which were not present before. Next, the customers should be able to minimize the risk of getting wrong medications. • 8. The Individualism Of The American Colonies In this passage, Paine emphasizes how the unique individualism of the American colonies cannot exist under Great Britain. While it may be a rational and more peaceful decision to remain under Great Britain s control, the oppression of the American colonies individualism is one that goes against common sense and is a situation that calls for a passionate revolution. The emphasis on individualism and passionate expression of the self during the late 18th and early 19th century is also exemplified in the musical realm through the revolutionary work of one of the most highly influential musicians, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At the time of Mozart s birth, the most popular and conventional music was created in the style of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. After the discovery of Mozart s prodigal musical genius and honing his skill through several positions of employment, Mozart began to realize his individualism as a gifted artist. Mozart became aware of his potential for greatness and used his gift not to conform to the style of music at the time, but to use his music as a form of passionate self expression. Mozart would not let anything extinguish his passion and freedom to create, even if it caused him great financial struggle throughout most of adulthood. The musical pieces Mozart created differed from that the music of the time in the sense that his work was highly driven by passion and emotion. • 9. Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph... This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. • 11. Birth Control The Birth Control Pill: Providing Surprises In Life Allison Wang California Polytechnic University Pomona Professor Lord ANT 350 Research Paper Abstract The pharmaceutical field has overcome countless medical feats since the early times. While the pill itself was considered a brand new invention, the idea of creating a birth control pill was not. Since the old times primitive condoms were made from animal intestines and fish bladders. However, it wasn t until after Margaret Sanger s multiple convictions and persistent attitude, that a judge ended the Comstock era, providing Sanger with the opportunity to stress the importance of having birth control in th for of a pill to the public. In less than a decade after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this would be during world war one when the United States government tried to teach their soldiers abstinence. However, this only resulted in U.S. troops obtaining condoms while abroad. As a result, in 1918, condoms became legal again when the war ended. Creation of the Birth Control Pill No one person created the product of the birth control pill. In fact, many died before the process could be completed. To begin with, an Austrian physiology professor named Ludwig Haberlandt demonstrated on mice that fertility could be prevented by feeding the mice ovarian extracts. In 1920, a man named Otfried Otto Fellner gave steroids to various animals which also prevented fertility. He created an extract called Infecundin which he never got the chance of administering due to his early death. On the other hand, because of Austria s takeover due to Hitler s reign in Germany, Fellner vanished never to be found again. The idea of steroid chemistry at the time was a relatively new concept. During this time it took over 80 thousand sow ovaries to produce only 12 milligrams of estradiol, an estrogen found in ovaries. To produce 1 milligram of progesterone, it toke the ovaries of 2500 pigs. It would not be until the early 1940s that Russell Marker discovers the process to manufacture massive amounts of steroid hormones could be produced to lower the consumer cost. Marker believed that the solution to this issue would be found in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Somali Pirates and the Response of The United States Essay To begin, pirates have been prowling the seas as far back as ancient times, such as the Phoenicians and Greeks in the Mediterranean. As well Muslim piracy as Jihad has existed since the 17th Century along the Barbary Coast of North Africa.2 These pirates were known as Barbary corsairs, and they would attack ships from Christian countries, seizing their ships and, and selling the sailors into slavery. Today, Somali pirates are seizing ships and taking hostages for ransom along the waters off the coast of Somali and the Gulf of Aden. • 14. Book Review Of Louise Pubols s The Father Of All The opening chapters of Louise Pubols s well written and carefully documented study of the de la Guerra family of Santa BГЎrbara, California, clearly demonstrate why she chose to title her book The Father of All. Spanish born military officer JosГ© de la Guerra is the central figure in this history, and members of his large familyplay important supporting roles. He arrived in Alta California in 1801 and quickly established California roots with his marriage to MarГa Antonia Carrillo y Lugo, daughter of his commanding officer. The Carrillos and the Lugos were typical of the province s earliest settlers, racially mixed individuals who had left the impoverished towns and mining centers of Sinaloa and Sonora in search of better times, racial whitening, and upward social mobility through military service. De la Guerra became commander of the Santa BГЎrbara presidio in 1815, a position he held until 1827. His Spanish birth, military rank, connections in Mexico City, wife s extended family, and shrewd business acumen helped him build a diversified enterprise that survived the political turmoil and shifting economic climate of California in the first half of the nineteenth century. His official responsibility for overseeing presidio accounts and supply chains enabled him to steer contracts toward his uncle s Mexico City trading firm and to his own burgeoning commercial ventures. He carefully nurtured relationships with ship captains and Franciscan missionaries, many of them fellow Spaniards, and garnered handsome commissions trading with merchants from Peru and the Philippines as well as New Spain. By the 1820s, de la Guerra had broadened his business and family ties to include merchants from Great Britain and the United States. Being involved in sports for several years has helped me grow as an individual and elevating my attitude not only towards life, but toward other people as well. When playing a sport, you are taught to go out and win but to have fun at the same time. My freshman year I was on the J.V football team and the season had just started. I was out on the floor and once the game started, I was trying too hard and rushing my game. Being inexperienced at this level, we were losing the football game. Since we were losing, we were not having fun. I was told by coaches and by myself that I needed to slow down and regain my composure. As soon as I got that into my head, we began creeping back into the game and we were on top by the fourth quarter. We were winning, having fun, and enjoying all the glory. Ever since that football game I have remembered that day and made myself slow down if I am hurrying things. I believe that this factor will carry on through life and make me a better individual. A jet engine follows Newton s Third law and as such the rushing hot gases creates a force in the opposite and parallel direction. Propulsion systems are not jet engine exclusive. Propulsion system are the constant Conversion any of various forms of energy into mechanical force and motion to produce thrust. Thus it can be viewed as an energy transformer. This transformation is however not perfect and brings into account how efficient the system is. The efficiency is the ratio between the input and intended output of the system. This unfortunately is never 100% and is a critical factor that plays into propulsion systems and fuel options. DRAG Drag is the aeronautical term for the air resistance encounter by an object in motion. Drag acts in the inverse direction to the objects movement through the air as it constrains its movement and acts parallel to the relative wind stream. Drag can be managed in aircraft and countered by increasing its aerodynamic properties. These include incorporating streamlined shapes, having cleaned surfaces, implementing flush fitting bolts and also several other configuration characteristics. The secondary responsibility of an aircraft s engine is to handle and conquer the drag. However, the more thrust produced the more air resistance encountered and consequently produces increased drag on the aircraft. In many instances these groups were successful in advocating their position based what they felt were their rights under the Constitution of the United States. Some of the rights sought were based on civil right, and some were based on civil liberties. The Value of Freedom, or complete absence of restrictions or barriers, is a concept that was relevant during the times of slavery but is in direct conflict with the concept of order. Order is achieved by erecting restrictions and barriers. However the very order reduces the purity of Freedom. The most commonly pursued value is that of equality. The desire for equality has driven groups to organize effectively and make the case to end slavery, and eventually capitalize on legislation that created the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Most people don t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture, with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However, these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. For example, big is not an adjective that describes something grand or large as in the English language. However, big is a term used to describe an older sister whose is assigned to a younger sister within the organization to be a mentor and a friend. Another example is the word waltz , which is not referring to a ballroom dance but rather the celebration of a sister s twenty first birthday. Even the word sister is a part of a sororities unique language as it does not denote the relationship between blood related relatives, but rather signifies the sister like bonds between members. This language is imperative to a sorority s culture because it unifies members under a commonality that distinguishes them from other groups and organizations, much like racial and religious cultures. Each sorority also has different gestures, much like the language, that are individualized to each sorority and help distinguish one from the other. Every sorority has a hand gesture to designate what sorority they are in. Members use this gesture in pictures, when participating in events and many other times to help differentiate members.
