Persasive Essay Topics

paradoxical, as it involves delving into the realm of meta-discussion. The challenge lies in
navigating the fine line between discussing persuasive essay topics in general and providing a
compelling argument on the chosen subject. Crafting an essay about persuasive essay topics
requires a nuanced approach, as it demands self-awareness regarding the recursive nature of the
task.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between broad exploration and focused
argumentation. Choosing persuasive essay topics involves understanding the intricacies of
various subjects and their potential impact on the audience. One must grapple with the challenge

persuasive stance. The essay writer must navigate through a myriad of potential topics,
considering the complexities of each and evaluating their capacity to elicit persuasive discourse.

meta-level aspect of the topic. Juggling between discussing the general characteristics of

the intricate balance between discussing the overarching theme and presenting a compelling
persuasive argument. It demands a keen understanding of various subjects, effective topic
selection, and the ability to seamlessly weave between meta-discussion and specific persuasion.
Engaging in such a task can be intellectually stimulating, providing an opportunity for growth
and refinement of writing skills.

Hair Dyeing
Throughout history, women would follow the local trend set by the beauties of
their time such as Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana as to what should be done to
their hair. It has gone from gilded braids during the time of the Egyptian Queen
Cleopatra to colorful updos today. Almost all of us have a desire to change our hair
color. Women like to dye their hair to change their physical appearance or they just
like follow the trend. Some of us use hair dye or hair bleach without realizing how
damaging it is to our hair. Hair Coloringis when you change the color of your
natural hair. Before the 1900 s, people would use natural dyes and herbs to color
their hair. The Egyptians were the first to color their hair using henna to hide their

Dying your hair is a great form of self expression. Whether you go blonde, brunette,
or dye your hair a crazy color like blue or pink, its your decision. Another good
reason to dye your hair is to hide those gray hairs. Many adults dye their hair to
appear younger. The negative side effects of dying your hair is that your hair gets
dry and brittle because of the chemicals.Since the chemicals are going into your
scalp, it becomes irritated and starts to tingle. If you over apply hair bleach, this
can lead to major damage causing the hair to break anyway on the shaft resulting
to hair loss. Many of us prefer to dye our hair at home. At home colors are cheaper
and their prices vary from $8 to $20. These products have a higher volume of
peroxide so that it can lighten darker hair. This can be dangerous for your hair
because it will affect future coloring and you will have to treat the hair growing
differently that the colored hair. It is a bit safer to get your hair professionally
done at a salon. You may pay a little over $100 but the dye will be less harsh. By
law they are required to perform a patch test using the right amount of peroxide for

The Sunflower By Simon Wiesenthal Essay
Vince Lombardi, an American football player, and a coach, once said, Leaders aren t
born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work.
With these words, Lombardi highlights that people are nurtured to become a leader
and a follower. For instance, Lombardi asserts that a person is trained, whether to be
a leader, or a follower, through eagerness and determination. The book, The
Sunflower, written by Simon Wiesenthal, an author and a Jewish holocaust survivor,
who focuses on one of the most controversial topics during and after World War II,
forgiveness. In this book, Weisenthal talked about a questionable case in which
Karl, an SS soldier who murdered plentiful of people, asked Weisenthal for
forgiveness for all the pain he had done towards all the people that were affected
by him. When it comes to the topic of whether people are born to become leaders
or followers or is one trained by the environment, most people will readily agree
that people are conditioned to become a leader or a follower, where this agreement
usually ends, however, is on the question of, What makes a person a leader?
Whereas some are convinced that people are natural born leaders. Becoming a
leader consists with a few reasons such as developed leadershipskills, the bystander
apathy, and the diffusion of responsibility.
Leadership is a honorary degree that contains many practices to which can truly affect
his/her position into leading others. Leadership can be a
Reasonable Suspicion In Law Enforcement
The term reasonable suspicion refers to proof that is less that probable cause, but
more than just a hunch. Reasonable suspicion can be used to make brief stops, and
even detention of a suspect, until a police officer can complete an investigation of a
crime. Reasonable suspicion is information that a reasonable law enforcement
officer would believe that a crime has, was or is about to occur, using his or her
training. Reasonable suspicion is an important tool in law enforcement, because it
allows officers to detain a person until they have probable causefor a warrant, to
search or arrest a suspect for a crime. Without reasonable suspicion most suspects
would have to be let go due to lack of evidence. As long as an officer can articulate

Thesis Of Ric Claudeur s Philosophical Theory Of...
3 The conceptual model
3.1 On the basis of RicЕ“ur s philosophical theory of narrative identity In Paul
RicЕ“ur s (1991:73) view, narrative identity, that is, the sort of identity to which a
human being has access thanks to the mediation of the narrative function .
The quotation above appears to emphasis on the assumption that narrative identity is
one among a variety of conceptual approaches of identity , but with the main
difference that this concept appears in a way to be more approachable.
In this regard, Wodak, De Cillia and Reisigl (1998:49) argue that RicЕ“ur s
philosophical theory of narrative identity seems to be of particular importance, due
to the fact, that a variety of scholars from a wide spectrum of disciplines appear to
regard the conception of identity as fixed and unchangeable. Furthermore, Wodak,
De Cillia and Reisigl emphasis on the concept s intracicy and coherence. Therefore,
RicЕ“ur s philosophical theory of narrative identity can serve as an approachable way
to illuminate the conception of identity in terms of its notion as being created.
Concerning this matter, Korostelina (2014:2) seems to have a similar approach and
argues that the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the concept of a nation seems to be perceived as imagined due to the
fact that the individuals of a particular nation seem to barely know each other or
not at all, but they still share the common impression that they are part of a

awareness created in the minds of individuals seem to exist in so far as individuals
of a particular nation believe in it. Following this assumption, the question arises of
how it seems to be possible that this created awareness is in such a clear way in the

Coaching Youth Sport Coaches Influence On Their
Development
When coaching youth sport coaches have a major impact and influence on their
development. The coach has to make sure they demonstrate a good role model at all
times and to provide every individual with a positive experience throughout. There
are many challenges a coach has to deal with when working with young people, they
have to provide many skills and have the ability to demonstrate them in the best
possible way, such as, cognitive development, self esteem and discipline, but also
maintain the fun side of things to keep the young people focused and engaged in the
session. Providing reinforcement to young people is the best thing for them to
develop more quickly. Coaches have to make sure that they focus on what is going

Uses of Nanotechnology
INTRODUCTION: In recent times, infectious diseases continue to pose a major
healthcare issue in developing countries making it imperative to develop logical
solutions for robust and rapid diagnosis and treatment of these infections. Traditional
techniques suffer from limitations, including laborious specimen processing, bulky
instrumentation, and slow result readout. In view of the urgency for sensitive,
specific, robust and rapid diagnostics, numerous advancements have been made in the
area of nanotechnologyto aid this effort. This methodical analysis will focus on the
recent developments in nanotechnology based diagnostics of bacterial pathogens in
developing countries. The aim of this review article is to describe the... Show more

Pathogen detection though surface marker recognition Pathogens express different
markers on their cell surface that are exposed to the extracellular fluid which serve as
important pathogen associated markers in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has
utilized highly specific antibodies as targeting ligands in a wide array of diagnostic
modalities (2). One such method includes the fluorescence based quantification of
bacteria using antibody conjugated dye doped silica nanoparticles (5). After minimum
sample preparation, brief incubation with the specimen, and removal of unbound
nanoparticles, detection of a single bacterium if E. coli O157:H7 was achieved in less
than 20 minutes compared to quantification by traditional plate counting (5) In
addition, other bacterial species such as Salmonella and Bacillus were quantified,
indicating that this method can be used for both Gram positive and Gram negative
microorganisms (5)
. The clinical utility is significant, especially for the detection of infectious agents
with very low infectious doses and high lethality. The diagnostic ability to detect a
single bacterial cell within 20 minutes with significant specificity greatly dwarfs the
traditional isolation, growth and plate counting methods (2). This
Lady Macbeth Abusive Quotes
One interpretation of the text is that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth s relationship is
not adherently abusive as she is seen as pushing Macbeth so he can strive to be his
best self. For example in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth gives a soliloquy after opening
Macbeth s letter, where she proclaims, thy nature; it is too full o th milk of human
kindness. (1.5.4). In the context of a non abusive relationship, the quote relays the
message that Lady Macbethwould help Macbeth to become the king of Scotland as
he wants to receive the crown fairly. That because Lady Macbeth wants to help her
husband she s portrayed as a loving wife which negates any possible in the
relationship. In addition, Macbeth needs the encouragement to pursue the crown by

American Ultra was described within their distinct star characters, almost as if they

together in Adventureland, another infamous independent, pot head, coming of age
movie that incorporated a mix of comedy and dramatized love story at carnival

that forms into the movie title. Both sporting long, unruly hair and thrift like jackets
helps to embody and sell the two as the perfect image of a stoner couple for the
public to easily identify and expect out of the movie s premise. Marketing
techniques push this niche even more, creating tag lines that cleverly play on both
the stoned perception and the action packed spy vs spy genre. Examples of these
are, too high to handle and Everyone s getting smoked which reads clearly at the

stoner plaid, sunglasses at night, and an exciting explosion in the background to

genre aspect of the story line. In this poster, Eisenberg and Stewart are posed in the

Comparative Essay of Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm
Not every leader is power hungry. Some leaders are good with power but others
can never get enough. They are never satisfied with how much power they have.
They want more and more, no matter the sacrifice . In William Golding s Lord of
the Flies and George Orwell s Animal Farm, secondary characters, who play the
roles of spokesmen, enforcers, and followers, bolster the power of the leaders, there
by ensuring the leaders success. Firstly, both books contain secondary characters
who play the role of spokesmen and increase their leaders power. In Animal Farm,
the secondary character, Squealer, has a way with words. No matter what the angle,
he is able to convince all of the animals on the farm that what he says is... Show more

To finalize, both novels include secondary character that play the role of a
spokesmen in which they use their intellect and persuasive skill to assist their
leader s power. Secondly, secondary characters in both novels play the role of
followers who help their leader in obtaining more power. In Animal Farm, Boxer
represents the hard working and loyal people. Boxer is a inspiration to all the other
animals because of his strength, loyalty, and his never failing cry of I will work
harder (Orwell 49). Plus, Boxer s faith and trust in Napoleon inspires the other
animals to do so as well. In contrast, in Lord of the Flies, the Savages are the
followers of Jack. They are all loyal to Jack but only because they want the food
and protection that the hunters provide. Since Piggy does not have this knowledge
of the truth, he is not able to explain that they only have themselves to fear,
(comma splice) therefore the rest of the boys would have no other need to join the
savages. The boys follow Jack because they fear the beast and Jack promises them
that [his] hunters will protect [them] from the beast (Golding 166). To summarize,
both secondary characters who play the role of the followers, are loyal to their
leaders, but for different reasons yet, still bolster the leaders power. Thirdly, the two
novels secondary characters play the
Foul Is Fair In Macbeth
Imagine. You see your son being dragged away. There s nothing you can do about
it. You reach out to him. You re told it s for the better. You remember. Remember
the times when you played with him, watched him grow up. Anger. Anger rising
that you can t stop. Angry at the government. Angry at unfair treatment. It s unfair.
It s foul. But that s not what they think, they think it s fair, that foul is fair. You
might be thinking, what is he going on about? The Stolen Generation? The
treatment of Aboriginal people? Land Rights? Fair is Foul, Foul is Fair . It s a
very tricky concept. We find it in literature, media, political speeches and in
everyday life. It is extensively explored in Shakespeare s Macbeth, where it means
that appearances are often deceptive, and that things are different than what they
appear to be. It points towards deception where appearance is not reality.
Shakespeare s Macbeth, encounters the witches and they plant the idea in his head
that he deserves to be king. This makes him vulnerable to his ambitious wife and
leads to his downfall as he becomes increasingly entangled in his own ambitious and
murderous deeds. Although, in real life, it is used as a paradox, a paradigm, a
chiasmus, to criticise a person s double standards and dual personalities. It is used
against politicians who present their dual personalities to the public, motivated purely
by self interest rather than acting for honourable or unselfish reasons. This is how the

She s The Man Gender
There has always been a clear division of what the ideal feminine and masculine
image is within the American film industry. These ideal traits are constantly being
reinforced and performed in the cinema. Society has been formulated to criticize
those that do not fit into the correct gender by humiliating and questioning their true
identity. Through the years, Hollywood has been influenced by the post structural
feminism, therefore they are now beginning to include a more diverse environment in
which people of different genders and identities can feel more comfortable. She s the
Man(2006), contradicts the genderand sexual norms within what Hollywood has
characterized as High School. It portrays the gender inequality, and correctly states
the reoccurring theme in most genres in which women are being observed and
displayed for pleasure (Williams, 608). In the film, She s the Man, Viola (Amanda
Bynes) pretends to be her brother Sebastian (James Kirk), while he is away at
London. She does this to pursue her dream of continuing to play soccer. Although,
She s the Man, includes the idea that women... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

that a male cannot express his thoughts and emotions, and even though Duke begins
to tell Viola how he feels about relationships, he feels guilty after, and tells her that,

might say if they find out who he truly is from the inside, which is a sensitive
Essay On The Origin Of Native American Culture
Origins of Native American Culture The disadvantages of farming without metal
tools were compounded by the absence of the plow, the wheel, and large domesticated
mammals. Like much of Africa, isolation and local conditions in the Americas
produced an agriculture that relies solely on hoes and digging sticks. Could stone
tools, hoes come and wooden cultivation sticks proficient enough to generate the
needed food surpluses to produce great cities? Such restrictions on food production
again raises the question of how civilization could have developed under such
conditions. The fact that civilization did develop in the Americas, therefore requires
some explanation (Wellach, 191). Just when the human history of the Americas

practices of the first natives that had explored most of North America between 10000
and 1500 BCE. They established communities from the shores of California to the

Non Traditional, Contemporary Musical Notation
Michael Muzio Sally Ann WilsonMUS 120 16 April 2016 Research Paper: Non
Traditional, Contemporary Musical Notation I would like to start this paper by saying
that I was very surprised to find out how much information was available on this
subject. I found several good articles including an article written by Jimmy Stamp at
www.smithsonian.com about experimental notation, and some interesting articles
about the history of notation and how it has evolved over time. Traditional notation
was developed over several centuries for use with music and instruments that were
different from those of today. Around 1025 CE, Guido d Arezzo introduced the staff
based system, but the five line staff did not become standardized until the 1500s. This
staff based notation was a significant achievement that improved upon the notation
systems that preceded it, notation has continued to evolve over time to address new
notational needs as they arose. With the development of music notation, music was
set free from the delicate bonds of oral and aural traditions (Stamp). A standardized,
underlying structure meant that everything from Gregorian chant to Johnny B Goode
could be preserved and proliferated with relative ease. However, beginning in the
years after World War II, some more progressive musicians and composers began to
think that the music staff might be more restricting than liberating and began to
experiment with new, more expressive forms of graphic music notation (Stamp). As

Taking a Closer Lookt at Our Auditory System Essays
Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory
system, so as to understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that?
Because as listeners, we owe to know some basic things about this magnificent human
mechanism. Our auditory system is one of our gates to the outer world. It helps us
pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce these stimuli into neural
impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the brain. In fact, its
basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical energy
(that is, those sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in
the brain).

This pinna is more or less oval shaped, flexible and can vary in size. Due to the fact
that there are only few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn
their heads towards the sound source location, in order to achieve a more accurate
detection of the position of this sound source. As far as the middle ear is
concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound wave into internal
vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and ultimately
transform these vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the
inner ear. The middle ear could be described as an air filled cavity that consists of the
eardrum and 3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact, they re the smallest bones of our
body), the well known the hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to amplify the
vibrations. What actually happens there, is that the compression of the sound wave
forces the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the eardrum outward, thus
vibrating the eardrum at the same frequency of the sound wave. After the eardrum s
vibrations are passed through the middle ear bones, they go on to the cochlea.
Basically, the movements of the eardrum are connected to the hammer and as a
result, those movements set the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same
frequency of the sound wave, as we said
Patents And The Patent Act Of 1952
Patents Patents are government granted, temporary rights to exclude, awarded in
return for an individual s disclosure of a new useful invention. Patents are granted by
the USPTO and last for nonrenewable term of 20 years (Ferrera et al, 2012). Patents
grant exclusive rights to exclude others from engaging in making, using, selling of
patentproducts (O reilly, 2007). Online businesses must be aware of other s patent
rights even if they do not copy other companies business methods or technologies.
XYZ Technologies must perform adequate research before developing and
promoting any new software products. Business may search both issued patents and
published application at the USPTO website as well as via Google s patent search
tool (Ferrera et al., 2012).
According to the Patent Act of 1952, patent may only be granted for inventions that
are within the scope of patentable subject matter, useful, new, nonobvious and
enabled (Ferrera et al., 2012). There are subject matters that are not patentable such
as laws of nature, physical phenomena and abstract ideas. To be considered new, at
least the person pursuing the patent be the person who invented it and must not have
copied it from others (Ferrera, et al., 2012). To check novelty, prior art is review.
Prior art is existing patents, publications, or knowledge (Ferrera, et al., 2012).
Additionally, an invention can be patentable if the level of ordinary is low. There are
expenses that go with obtaining and maintaining a
Similarities Between Wolves And Domestic Dogs Essay
Abstract
It is common knowledge that dogs were domesticated from wolves. However, the
exact details of this process are not nearly as well known, and many studies have
been performed in recent years to discover exactly what caused this change to occur.
Many different techniques, from comparing morphological evidence to peeking into
the genome itself have been used to unlock this mystery. While many factors of the
evolution of dogs are still being studied, it is now known that domestic dogs were
developed from an ancient, ancestral wolf species rather than from the gray wolf, that
clear morphological differences between wolves and domestic dogs can be found,
such as the difference in the shape of the skull, and that the ability to digest starch
not only varies between dogs and wolves, but between different dog breeds. The
findings in these studies each provide a different piece to the puzzle that is the initial
domestication of ancient dogs. Understanding how dogs were domesticated could in
turn shed a new light on the development of ancient humans.
Introduction Canis lupus familiaris, better known by its common name, dog, carries
the prestigious title of Man s Best Friend. It is a title the domestic dog has earned

this wasn t always the case. There was a time when the domestic dog did not exist in

This report will conduct a feasibility study for EClinicalWorks. The problem faced
by this company is claimed to be an interface related problem, and the system is
perceived to be working properly. In order to assess the problem correctly we will
using SWOT analysis, elicitation questionnaires, and have suggested to use the
prototype model throughout the development of this project.
The results will be analyzed by our developers, and a statistical summary will be
produced after meeting with key individuals. The statistical summary will be used to
evaluate the problem at hand and provide a solution as well as alternative solutions.
This report will also check for other limitations that the software may have. This is
done to prevent future problems from arising ensuring the continuity of this software.

The Noble Marcus Brutus In The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar
What defines a tragedy? In the words of author Amos Oz, a tragedy is a clash
between right and right. One can imply from this quote that the hero of a tragedy
must face the ultimate decision of choosing between two morally conflicting
options. In addition, Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero includes that they must
make an irreversible mistake caused by their fatal flaw, whether it be hubris like
Oedipus of Sophocles tragic Greek play Oedipus Rex or other qualities. By analyzing
William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedyof Julius Caesar, one can see that noble
Marcus Brutus faces the struggle of deciding between two choices that are both
arguably correct with a regretful, irrevocable resolution influenced by his flawed
loyalty, thus it can be concluded that he is the... Show more content on

For instance, the protagonist of The Odyssey, Odysseus, suffers from hubris as it
causes the gods to turn against him due to his disrespectful acts of superiority

fault being his sense of nobleness. When Brutus is manipulated into taking part in
the assassination of Caesar, he is the sole conspirator to have a noble motive in
killing Caesar. In his soliloquy, he justifies Caesar s murder by asserting, It must

How Water Quality Is Important For The Health Of The...
Water quality is important to consider for streams, especially in an urban setting. It
is important to understand water quality not only for the health of the ecosystem,
but also for humans who drink the water and use the water for recreational
purposes. In the city, it is difficult to maintain adequate water quality standards
because of factors like excessive pollutants from road runoff, sediments, nutrients,
and organic waste. The water levels are often sporadic and will vary by land use
such as a parking lot versus a park. A way to combat this problem is to manage or
restore the riparian zone by adding vegetation, encouraging infiltration, and reducing
runoff rates. Five sites in Austin, Texas were sampled, assessed, and analyzed to...

The Colorado River
The Colorado River had the highest water quality of all tested sites. The dissolved
oxygen at this site was 8.92 mg/L and could be attributed to a number of different
reasons (Table 1). The sample was taken when the sun was high and water
dwelling plants had been photosynthesizing for a number of hours. The water was
flowing fairly quickly and there was a small riffle at the area where the reading was
taken which could have increased dissolved oxygen of the water. The river had a
rocky gravel bottom which provided plenty of habitat for the macroinvertebrates that
reside in the river. The variety of macroinvertebrates that were found were indicators
of high water quality; species included caddisflies, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonfly
larvae. The macroinvertebrates were all very large specimens, indicating a healthy
environment and plenty of resources to support their growth.
The site examined was downstream of the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Plant. The high
water quality at the Colorado River site could be partially attributed to the Plant s
ability to sanitize and reuse wastes and prevent contamination through leakages of
unclean water. The water at the Colorado River site was cool despite only mediocre
tree cover. The flow was quick in thinner parts of the river and slowed when it
widened out, giving

The Global Finance Crisis and Its Affects
Davon Key
Savannah State University Abstract
In September and October 2008, the US suffered a severe financial dislocation that
saw a number of large financial institutions collapse. Although this shock was of
particular note, it is best understood as the culmination of a credit crunch that had
begun in the summer of 2006 and continued into 2007. The US housing market is
seen by many as the root cause of the financial crisis. Since the late 1990s, house
prices grew rapidly in response to a number of contributing factors including
persistently low interest rates, over generous lending and speculation. The bursting of
the housing bubble, in addition to simultaneous crashes in other asset bubbles,
triggered the credit crisis.
The policy response to the financial crisis in the United States and elsewhere has
largely been an attempt to rescue money manager capitalism. Moreover, in the case of
the United States the bailout policy has contributed to further concentration of the
financial sector, increasing dangers. We believe that the policies directed at saving
the system are doomed to fail and that alternative policies should be adopted. The
effective solution should come in the way of downsizing the financial sector by two
thirds or more, and effecting fundamental modifications. The Global Finance Crisis
and Its Affects The financial turmoil that engulfed the US during the 2007 09 began
in the mortgage lending markets.
The Grapes of Wrath

The Grapes of Wrath, he describes the struggle of the small farmer and
farmworker. The principal characters define quiet dignity and courage in their
struggle to survive and in the caring for their loved ones. Through this novel,
Steinbeck displays his respect for all the poor and oppressed of our world. nbsp;
The journey of the Joads represents Steinbeck s message of respect for the poor and
oppressed on three levels. The first is literal: he used the journey and its ever
changing environment to put the Joads through many situations. The second level is

As each character involved in the situation reacts, we are able to see Steinbeck s
respect for the poor shining through. The never say die efforts of Uncle John to
stop the rising flood water is one example of Steinbeck s unremitting struggle
theme. The constant effort of the entire Joad family to find work, even though
they are poor, oppressed and hungry, show us that Steinbeck wants to show their
tremendous courage and dignity. In this way, Steinbeck is able to use the journey
structure to describe these fine qualities he sees and respects in the poor. nbsp; If
we read a little deeper in The Grapes of Wrath, we find the journey of the Joads
mirrors that of other Okies and other forced migrations in history. The journey of
the Joads has its ups and downs. Migrants are not always received with open arms;
they are persecuted and looked upon as not even human. For them the promised
land becomes the land of despair. In many ways, the journey of the black Africans
to America as slaves is similar to the dust bowl migrations. Both are forced from
the land that they love by almost non human forces. They were taken to the land of
riches where they were poor. The slaves were however taken by force but the
Okies were seduced by the lure of work and prosperity. nbsp; To help understand
the third and deepest level of reading, we can apply a mathematical idea, that is the

Writing Skills Inventory Of English 219
This past semester I have been taking English 219 which is formally known as
essay composition and critical reading. In this class we have focussed mainly on
analytical reading, writing summaries, and writing essays. Not only did we discuss
how to successfully write an essay we also learned about different tools and
techniques that can be used to help discover our position in regards to a topic and
many different ways to overcome writers block. There have been many things that I
feel I have learned in our English 219 class this semester. Even though I am very
happy with the amount of learningI have completed I do still however have some
areas that I need to focus on. I will be taking more English classes throughout my
college and university education. In English 219 is has been confirmed that we will
all have our own individual strengths, weaknesses, and ambitions for the future.
In English 219 I have really enhanced and gained many skills. Most of which I did
not realize until we did the writing skills inventory. For the writing skills inventory
we took a survey during the first week of classes and then again during the last
week of class. The survey was very helpful in actually showing me what skills I
have improved on from the beginning of the semester to now which is the end. One
result from the writing skills inventory that really shocked me was a question
regarding private freewriting. The question was asking if I used private freewriting

In the Turner s The Slave Ship and Hokusai s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the
two artists use the complexity and versatility of the ocean to display important events
and ideas of the time period. Through the use of different artistic techniques, these
two artists are able to capture similar settings in very different ways with very
different meanings. Around the age of six years old, Hokusaibegan painting and even
spent time as an apprentice wood carver in his youth. He began the art of print
making when he was eighteen. His most famous painting, The Great Wave, can be
seen in museums all over the world even though Japan delayed it from catching on
worldwide. Many believe that it was painted in the early 1800s, but Japan was not
interacting culturally with other countries apart from trade with China and Korea.
It wasn t until 1859 when the Japanese were forced to open their ports that prints of
The Wave spread across Europe. Originally, this piece wasn t viewed as real art by
Japanese politicians and art historians. Wood block printing was used for
commercial use and as a popular form of expression. The Japanese government
wasn t too thrilled that such a seemingly lowbrow art form had come to define them
(15 Things). About five thousand to eight thousand prints were made but it is
speculated that only a few hundreds of The Great Wave remain. The painting
actually inspired music like Debussy s La Mer. In Hokusai s The Great Wave off

For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo Romeo and
Juliet, the tragedy in which star crossed lovers meet their fate and endure a terrible
ending. Though many different movies and other authors tried to copy the famous
Shakespearian play, most do not succeed in capturing all the details and emotions
the original script offers. The spin offs and even movies fail to include different
famous lines and acting scenes. One of which is the 1968 version of Romeo and
Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli. Although many similarities occur throughout the
story of the star crossed lovers in the movie, a few minor and major differences also
appear. The first obvious difference between the play and the movie happens in the
first act. In the play version, Romeo reads a party invitation for the Capulet servant.
He knows of the Capulet party because he reads the letter. In the movie, the Capulet
servant does not appear, Romeo just shows up at the party. Even though act one of the
play features some minor differences, most details are the same. Both start out with
the feuding families fighting in the street. In addition,... Show more content on

version, Juliet has a polite conversation with Paris, and almost seems as if she is

and begs Paris to leave. Other discrepancies in act four include the movie not
describing the wedding day getting pushed up, Juliet takes the potion she receives
from the Friar in her night clothes, and Romeo does not visit the apothecary to
purchase the deadly poison. The story line of the movie encompasses the same details
as the play version, but variations do make the movie noticingly different from the
Types Systems And Traditional Soil Based Systems
Microbes, Bio Diversity and Overall Plant Health and How They Relate to Long
Term Space Life Support Systems
Abstract
The interactions between plant diversity, microbes, and overall plant health is not
fully understood here on Earth nor in space. There have been studies on these
interactions in hydroponic type systems and traditional soil based systems each
coming to varying conclusions and none really uncovering a clear path forward. I
read through many articles on plant microbe interactions, plant disease in hydroponic
systems, and plant health with relation to plant diversity and ecosystem structure.
Overall the message is clear. More research is needed to better understand these
complex interactions and how they affect the long term viability of bio regenerative
closed ecological systems (CES). Although, research is slowly progressing and shows
promising signs that these interactions can be better understood and utilized to
enhance closed system plant cultivation and ultimately long duration closed
regenerative Life Support (LS) systems.
Introduction There is a renewed focus among the space community for long duration
deep space missions to destinations such as the Moon, Mars, and asteroids along
with a desire to build long term human settlements on Mars. These far flung missions
will not be able to solely rely on traditional LS systems that have been used
throughout the history of manned space flight. These traditional LS systems rely on

Bleu stayed focused on the quality of the product. The key to quality, in her mind,
was the ingredients. She strongly believed that the use of all natural chocolate,

enhancing the high quality taste. To control the quality, candies were made at the

The Functional And Chemical Properties Of A Meringue
To investigate the functional and chemical properties of the ingredients used in a
meringue, I will research the different ingredients used to make a meringue and
how they affect the physical and chemical properties of the meringue. I will
particularly focus on the properties of eggs and why egg yolk cannot be used to
make meringue. Meringue can be made in different ways with different types of
ingredients. The basic ingredients needed to make a meringue is eggwhites and sugar.
However you can add other ingredients to change or stabilize the meringue. After
doing some basic research, I will carry out practical investigations and experiment the
functional and chemical properties of a meringue.
Prior Learning: Function of the ingredients in meringue

The proteins in the egg are broken down physically by denaturation which breaks the
chemical bonds that hold the chains in their tangles, allowing them to uncoil into
long strands (source: https://highered.mheducation.com/sites/0078616441
/student_view0/food_science_activities/demystifying_meringue.html). The strands
then start to coagulate which links the proteins together and stabilizes the
meringue. Once the egg whites are light and frothy, sugar is added to stabilize the
meringue by gathering proteins on the surface area of the air bubbles and to make it
thick and glossy. Once the meringue is whisked to the point where it forms stiff
peaks. The meringues are then piped onto a baking tray and baked in the oven for
around 40 minutes to an hour, until they are pale, dry, puffy and delicate. Meringues
are generally bakes at around 325 F so that the air bubbles expand, the water
evaporates and the proteins coagulate at an even rate throughout the meringue
The Components Of Energy Use In Plants And Cells
1. Every cell, whether it belongs to a plant, bacteria or an animal, requires energy
from a food source to survive. However, when cells break down food into its sugar
components, i.e. glucose, they cannot use these components directly because
glucose molecules contain too much energy. Imagine you want to buy pencils for
$5 from a store that won t give change: it is more economical to use a $5 or $10 bill
than a $100 bill, thus eliminating waste. The same concepts apply to energy use in
cells, instead of using a big energy molecule like glucose and wasting energy, cells
will convert it into smaller units for prolonged use. These smaller molecules are
called ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
Breaking down glucose and making ATP requires many steps and by products, for
simplicity our focus will only be on the part of the reaction that just synthesizes ATP.
The ATP molecule can be made by a special molecule complex called ATP synthase,
which combines two subunits to create the ATP. These subunits include a sugar
molecule ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and another molecule Pi (inorganic
phosphate). The ATP synthase complex is located on a membrane within the
mitochondria, which is a structure found in cells and acts as a channel between two
parts of the mitochondria that the membrane separates. The outermost part is called
the intermembrane space and the innermost central area is the matrix. ATP
production occurs when a charged force across this membrane stimulates a region of

can Freeman discriminate against cheerleading?
Do you think this is something only the cheer parents have a problem with? Maybe
it would be wise for us parents to start a petition, that way you would hear from more

with only having three cheerleaders. I think the community would be surprised on
how the cheerleading program is handled so differently then any other activity or

a long shot of Jackson coming into the field. I have used this shot to make the
audience think that Jackson is the killer. This is typical of the detective genre as they
want audiences to always second gest themselves when they are watching the film.

Why The Price Of Crude Oil
This essay will explain why the price of crude oil has fallen so dramatically. Also,
it will analyse the impact the fall in the price will have on major oil producing
nations. Moreover, it will explore the effect that the fall in price will have on
major oil companies and their supply companies. Finally, it will present how the
fall in oil price might affect consumers in the European Union. Crude oil is the one
of the most important natural resource of the industrialised nations, which could
generate heat, drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes (years, someone).
Moreover, the crude oil components are used to manufacture almost all chemical
products, such as plastic, detergents, paints and medicines (years, someone). Also,
it plays a significant role in expanding technical ability to discover new sources and
extending the production lives of existing oil fields. Therefore, constant changes
in the price of the crude oil have an impact on a global economy (years, someone).
According to Bolton (2014), the oil price reaches the highest price of almost $150
a barrel in July 2008 and felt in the second half of 2008 as the global financial crisis
started. There are a many reasons why the price were so high until the first half of
2008. Since 2002, the high demand for fuels in rapidly developing countries, such as
China and India increased. In addition, there was frequent disruptions to supply crude
oil to the global markets, such as political and security situation in
Alan Mann Short Story
Alan Mann s Life Story
Alan Mann
Southeastern Oklahoma State University
Alan Mann s Life Story Alan Mann was born in 1974 in the city of Monroe,
Michigan. Monroe is about 40 miles South of Detroit on Lake Erie. He has two
older brothers named Jason and Michael. Alan s parents met when they were in the
Navy. His father changed services to the Army and was stationed in Monroe as a
recruiter after returning from the Vietnam War. Being born the son of an Army
member makes one an Army Brat which means moving very often and attending
several schools over one s lifetime (Baker, 2015). One of his earliest memories is of
his mother bundling him up to go outside in the heavy snows of a Michigan winter
storm. In 1978, the family moved to Mainz, Germany where he attended the first
grade. While stationed there, the family visited many German castles, learned a lot
of German history, went on Volksmarches which were noncompetitive walkathons
(AVA) and met a lot of interesting people. In 1981, the family moved back to the
United States to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. There, Alan attended Logan Heights
Elementary School. His house was on a street that had a dead end. Beyond the dead
end was literally the desert complete with cactuses, tumbleweeds, horned frogs, and
tarantulas. He loved going over the border to Juarez, Mexico with the family and
haggling with the merchants for items. Finally, in 1982 the family moved to Ft. Polk,
Louisiana for his last move which is where his father retired from the military. In
Louisiana, Alan attended Leesville Junior High and High School. He graduated with
honors in 1992. He enrolled at Northwestern State University for the fall semester.
However, he was working full time, had an hour long commute to classes, and a
new girlfriend that would soon be his wife. His grades weren t very good. Alan
decided perhaps he was ready for a break from school and was ready to do a little
growing up . Having a long history of military service in his family, he looked to do
his duty and serve also. After talking with the recruiters in his home town, the Air
Force seemed to have the jobs he found most interesting. He took the ASVAB test
and scored high enough to select any job the Air Force had to
How Does The Temperature Affect The Average
Temperature...
Evan Miller Section 1 The colors indicate that the average temperature rose in all
continents from 1884 to 2012. In the past 50 years the temperature rose the most in
North America. The average temperature change from 1880 to 2010 was 0.7
degrees Celsius. The curve between 1950 and 1980 is relatively flat and centered
around 0 degrees difference from the baseline because The error bars are smaller
near the year 2000 than in the 1890 s because in the 1890 s they didn t have the
same technology as we do today. The black line is so much more variable than the
red line because the black line shows annual average temperature and the red line
shows the five year average temperature. I predict that the temperature will increase
at a steadier rate in the next 100 years. I drew the curve this way because from
1990 to 2010 the curve starts to increase steadily. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would be a

summer layers because the summer snow would be much cleaner than winter snow
The graph shows that the temperature for the past 10,000 years, compared with the
previous 400,000 years, has been getting warmer. The current climate trends from
1880 to 2010 would mean there is no cooling period of time, there would only be an
increase in temperature. Scientists can be certain that the earth is warming because
the recent data in the vostok ice core graph shows no evidence of a cooling period
approaching, the
Significance Of Tattoos
Origin of tattoos
Many people all over the world have been marking their bodies for thousands of
years. The word tattoo may have two meanings; a verb or a noun, whereby as a
verb it means the act of marking the skin with indelible ink whereas tattoo as a noun
refers to the picture or a pattern made. A person who puts tattoos is called a tattoo
artist, tattooist or a tattoer and the shop where he operates is called tattoo parlor/shop.
The word tattoo is said to be a loanword from Polynesians (Tahitians) which had
various spellings such as tatu, tattow, ta tu, tatao which means to mark something. It
is believed that this word was brought to England during Captain Cook s voyages
from Tahiti where he got introduced to tattoos.
Egyptians are the earliest known people known to put tattoos on their bodies. This
dates back to 2000 B.C. where female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example; tattoos were used by women in Bomeo for purposes of getting a suitor.
These women would put marks on their forearms showing the skill they were good at
and thus attracting men who would later marry them.
In Greece, tattoos were used as a form of communication; by use of tattoos spies
were easily identified. While in Rome, people who became criminals would be
marked or tattooed so that they could be easily picked from the rest of the people
and the same would be done to slaves. In Western Asia, mainly among the people of
Ainu; the use of tattoos was a way of showing ones status in the society for example
girls and married women would easily be distinguished.
The Japanese also embraced use of tattoos especially on criminals where there was
a certain mark for the first offense which was a line on the criminal s forehead.
They would then put an arch for second offense and another line for the third one
which was the last one. It was a visible mark of punishment which would be seen by
Milton and Classical Predecessors
As shown in studies by researchers including Wilmon Brewer, the similarities
between the works of Milton and his classical predecessors, such as Athenian bards
Aeschylus and Sophocles, strongly suggest their inspiration upon his work. However,
this doesn t necessarily mean that Milton blatantly passed off the works of his
influences as his own; his ingenuity manifests in the form of updated storylines and
personalities for the characters in his epic poems, namely those in Samson Agonistes
and Paradise Lost, both based upon stories in the Bible. With that in mind, he
appointed exemplars from Scripture to his tragic masterpieces as they demonstrate
the outcomes of sin: Satan, Adam, and Eve in Paradise Lost, and Samson in Samson
Agonistes. Brewer states that Milton praised Aeschylus Prometheus Bound, noting
To the work of Aeschylus Milton refers four times in passages of criticism. The
references become more and more inclusive and increasingly favorable (910).
Indeed, Milton applauds his Athenian influences in the preface of Agonistes, calling
them unequalled yet by any, and the best to rule all who endeavor to write tragedy
(qtd. in Brewer 911). Brewer interprets this as holding the Athenians in higher regard
over Shakespeare, whom Milton also admired. He suggests Aeschylus trilogy on the
death of Agamemnon prompted Milton s admiration for drama portraying human
suffering. As the subject of the popular saying, pride comes before the fall, Satan s
arrogance is
Black Holes Essay
Black Holes The term black hole was first used in 1969 by the American scientist
John Wheeler to describe an object that had such a huge gravitational pull that not
even light could escape it, thereby rendering it invisible or black. John Michell
extended upon this idea in a paper called the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal
Society of London in which he pointed out that a starthat was sufficiently massive and
compact would have such a strong gravitational pull that not even... Show more

If the star is of a small to average size it will shrink down dramatically until it
becomes a white dwarf when the sun eventually becomes a white dwarf it will be
about the size of the earth! A white dwarf has an extraordinary density about one
teaspoon taken from a white dwarf could weigh as much as a mountain!
The second possibility occurs if the star is very large. The star will throw out its
outer layers in a terrific explosion, this is called a supernova. The star will then
begin to contract under the force of gravity. But unlike the first possibility, this star
will not be able to halt its collapse. The star will become smaller and smaller until it
gets to the point where it has become infinitely dense and infinitely small the
singularity of a black hole.
A black hole consists of two main parts, a singularity and an event horizon. The
event horizon is like the skin of a black hole, once you pass the event horizon there
is no escape. The horizon is often referred to as the clothes of the black hole, as it
is a barrier that separates the singularity from the rest of the universe. The event
horizon can be seen by rays of light that are caught in a perpetual orbit around the
black hole unable to escape yet unable to fall in.
The singularity is what is found at the very center of a black hole; the singularity is a
place of infinite density, infinite
Video Games Encourage Violent Behavior
If you ask a person in any environment if video games in general provide something
beneficial for the player, they will answer there isn t any. If anything, they will
comment video games encourage negative outcomes, such as obesity, aggressiveness,
antisocial behavior and in extreme cases, addiction (Bavelier, Braintraining: Games to
do you good , 2013). Besides the fact that there is no correlational proof that video
games encourage violent behavior, psychologists have proved that some good
does come out of playing games. Video games, it seems, encourage positive brain
plasticity. In the meeting hosted by the White House Office of Science and
Technology Policy, scientist gathered to discuss way of using interactive
technology, such as games, to boost brain activity (Bavelier, Brain training: Games
to do you good , 2013). Their attention was sparked when they noticed the growing
amount of data that demonstrates the level of cognitive superiority video games
experts wield over novices in terms of their capacity of attention and perception.
The scientist proposed that perhaps using video games as a tool for training the
brain is a viable option if there was some sort of interrelationship between games and
positive brain activity. Thus, various experiments were born out of this idea, one of
which will become the focus of this paper.
But first, we must define what brain plasticity is. According to BrainFacts.org, brain
plasticity (from the Greek word plastos meaning
Eva s Phoenix Case Study
EVA S PHOENIX PRINT SHOP CASE # 2 1) Briefly state what the case is about?
The case is about a print shop located in Toronto known as Eva s Phoenix print shop.
It is a socially and environmentally responsible commercial printer that helps
homeless and at risk youth achieve self sufficiency. The enterprise success is
contributed to its careful integration between commercial and social elements.
Regardless of their useful synergy the separation of the departments would be
advantageous as they can be more productive and efficient. Recently there have been
complaints from clients in terms of satisfaction. The untrained youth were allowed to
train and work on the client jobs simultaneously. This led to... Show more content on

In the case of Eva s Phoenix, one solution to reduce the conflict would be to reinstate
their mission statement. This mission statement will serve the purpose of a
communication tool. It will communicate to employees, customers, investors and
other stakeholders the purpose of the organization, which is the maximization of
profits, social causes and environment friendly initiatives/actions. The conflict will
be reduced when the purpose is reinstated and employees are told that they are
working towards mutual goals. Once the common goals are indentified they can
work as a team and there will be less conflict as they are trying to achieve the exact
same goals. Another way to reduce conflict would be the separation of commercial
and social departments, to divide the departments into two functions. When they work
together there is conflict, as production wants efficiency and social department wants
to take the time to train the youth, so that they can acquire life lasting skills. Their
conflicting views will create problems; therefore to avoid conflict their roles need to
be divided with accountability, this will allow each function to work separately, but
towards achieving common goal. Regardless of their separation the department
should not work as silos and become integrated to share information, this help will
them overcome the challenge of separation. Hiring street
New Outreach Programs In A Local Church Can Be
Difficult.
New outreach programs in a local church can be difficult. By definition an outreach
ministry is to reach out to the surrounding community. The congregation at Peace
United Methodist Church in Virginia, MN began an outreach program on
Wednesday evenings in mid September in an effort to invite others in the
community to experience their church in new ways. Many of the small group
offerings are secular in orientation with a few traditional discipleship options as
well. From the program s inception, the heavily elderly based congregation (mean
age of 70 80 years) understood the new program to be open to the general public.
This led to a rise in anxiety when the congregation realized people who were less
than desirable would be likely to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This forced relocation surely put Judah s people into an emotional tale spin,
potentially affecting those in both Judah and Babylon for generations. Families
that could not find healthy ways of handling their predicament may have given
rise to children who continued with unhealthy habits and actions, doomed to
repeat their parent s mistakes. Ezekiel s main concern is the negative actions
which were against God, i.e. God s laws and the priestly traditions Ezekiel was
called to uphold. Being a priestly prophet, Ezekiel begins his refutation with what
sounds to be a temple rite in verses 5 9. He presents a long list of both intimate and
public transgressions, equating the list to what some scholars believe was an
entrance rite or liturgy for the temple in ancient Israel. However, there is no
biblical evidence to support such a rite. There is evidence of similar lists found on
the doorposts and lentels of ancient Egyptian temples. Even if the list is not from a
Jewish temple rite, Ezekiel is most likely using a temple rite of sorts, secular
perhaps, but a rite recognizable to his audience. The first person associated with
this list is said to have avoided these transgressions and is granted life by God. The
prophet goes on to provide a counter example, the first person s son, with a slightly
different list of transgressions committed against God for which the penalty is death
(v. 10 13). Why did Ezekiel change the list instead of simply repeating the
Being A Child Again
I will think that it is better to be a child because of all the good benefits that comes
with being a child.
The benefits of being a child again is so good. For an example a child is more
likely to have more fun memory then a high school teenager would. Kids do not
have to worry about grades, responsibility, getting in trouble, having to clean up,
ect. Most people will agree to disagree with me about being a child again. the
people that agree with me are probably thinking about all the good times that they
had as a child. I mean who can blame them, as child I got everything that I wanted. If

I don t know about some people but for me...it made me left like it was the end of
the world and that everybody was against me. I had a few drawbacks when I was a
child. One of my biggest drawbacks that I wish my mother would allow me to do
was to go spend a night over a friends house. Spending a night over a friends house
was a big N.O for me and all of my sisters. Nobody was allowed to come over or
spend a night as well they were allowed to stand outside the front house. If they
wanted something to drink well they better start walking back home. Another
drawback was that I was no allowed to go with my older sisters when they wanted
to go somewhere with a friend. I m not 100% sure that most people will agree with
me but my mother did not really allow me to do much as a child. I m not sure that
it was because I am the youngest out of four girls o because she did not want me to

get used to doing things alone. Being a young adult shows you new things that you
may have not really think about doing. you can do so much but then again I am
unable to go have fun as a child. Being a child is more like that little saying, it was

The Main Reason For Collapsing Of Roman Empire And
America
As Rome and America are the largest empire and country in their time, there are
various similarities between them. Some similarities they both have are dominant
power that both of them are powerful and have huge impact on other countries in
their time and cultural diversity which they both have an open society made up of
many people. Moreover, moral decline was the main reason for collapsing of
Roman Emperor; America suffered the decline of moral value for a long time. In
2015, the decline of the moral is most considerable issue for America because the
rate of single parent families is rising and the greed in the corporations or
organizations is increased as the same as Rome. Like the moral value decline in
Rome was caused by the fall of father role in the families, America have been
suffering from the moral decline because of the rise in the single parent families.
The rise in the single parent families is the same kind of the fall of father authority
because single mothers rate is increased than the single father s rate. There were
about 12 million single parents families in U.S, and more than 80 percent were led by
the single mothers according to the Census Bureau s American Community Survey.
Therefore, the role of father is declined; and the mothers play an important role in the
single parent familyby working, doing housework and raising their kids. The more
rising the single mothers rate, the more failing the fathers authority in the families.
However, Rome and

Use Of Irony In Rear Window
In the classic movie Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, uses of irony occur
frequently until the movie meets its tragic end. Starting with Jeff s confinement and
ending with the symbolic death of Lisa, the movie has a constant somber tone and
ends with a final disastrous moment. These tragedies are often complemented with
irony, the usage of a characteror plot development in order to state the opposite of
what is being physically said/shown.
After the camera shows the viewers the inhabitants of the community, it lands on
Jeff. First, it shows all of Jeff s photos from his travels. These show the viewer that

Jefferies. The camera symbolically tell us the story of a man who loved to explore
and immortalize moments, now confined in a single room with only his memory

up in the view from his terrible confinement. In fact, he even risks his life because
he is so obsessed with his new life. Despite what he physically projects, he loves
where he is at. Later in the movie, irony comes up yet again. Miss Lonelyheart is
shown setting the table for two. Suddenly, she gets up and opens the door for what
is presumed to be her date. However, no one is there. She still escorts this person in
and seats him at her table. She pours him wine and then collapses in tears, realizing
how lonely she has become.

The quotation above appears to emphasis on the assumption that narrative identity is one among a variety of conceptual approaches of identity , but with the main difference that this concept appears in a way to be more approachable. In this regard, Wodak, De Cillia and Reisigl (1998:49) argue that RicЕ“ur s philosophical theory of narrative identity seems to be of particular importance, due to the fact, that a variety of scholars from a wide spectrum of disciplines appear to regard the conception of identity as fixed and unchangeable. Furthermore, Wodak, De Cillia and Reisigl emphasis on the concept s intracicy and coherence. Therefore, RicЕ“ur s philosophical theory of narrative identity can serve as an approachable way to illuminate the conception of identity in terms of its notion as being created. In view of the urgency for sensitive, specific, robust and rapid diagnostics, numerous advancements have been made in the area of nanotechnologyto aid this effort. Pathogen detection though surface marker recognition Pathogens express different markers on their cell surface that are exposed to the extracellular fluid which serve as important pathogen associated markers in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has utilized highly specific antibodies as targeting ligands in a wide array of diagnostic modalities (2). One such method includes the fluorescence based quantification of bacteria using antibody conjugated dye doped silica nanoparticles (5). After minimum sample preparation, brief incubation with the specimen, and removal of unbound nanoparticles, detection of a single bacterium if E. coli O157:H7 was achieved in less than 20 minutes compared to quantification by traditional plate counting (5) In addition, other bacterial species such as Salmonella and Bacillus were quantified, indicating that this method can be used for both Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms (5) . The clinical utility is significant, especially for the detection of infectious agents with very low infectious doses and high lethality. The diagnostic ability to detect a single bacterial cell within 20 minutes with significant specificity greatly dwarfs the traditional isolation, growth and plate counting methods (2). This
  • 10. Lady Macbeth Abusive Quotes One interpretation of the text is that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth s relationship is not adherently abusive as she is seen as pushing Macbeth so he can strive to be his best self. For example in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth gives a soliloquy after opening Macbeth s letter, where she proclaims, thy nature; it is too full o th milk of human kindness. (1.5.4). In the context of a non abusive relationship, the quote relays the message that Lady Macbethwould help Macbeth to become the king of Scotland as he wants to receive the crown fairly. That because Lady Macbeth wants to help her husband she s portrayed as a loving wife which negates any possible in the relationship. In addition, Macbeth needs the encouragement to pursue the crown by calling him

American Ultra was described within their distinct star characters, almost as if they represent both gendered sides of the same indie stoner coin even outside of the only two movies they have completed together. Examples of these are, too high to handle and Everyone s getting smoked which reads clearly at the bottom of another promotional poster in which both characters wear the stigmatized stoner plaid, sunglasses at night, and an exciting explosion in the background to detail the action to be anticipated in the film. • 12. Comparative Essay of Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm Not every leader is power hungry. Some leaders are good with power but others can never get enough. They are never satisfied with how much power they have. They want more and more, no matter the sacrifice . In William Golding s Lord of the Flies and George Orwell s Animal Farm, secondary characters, who play the roles of spokesmen, enforcers, and followers, bolster the power of the leaders, there by ensuring the leaders success. Firstly, both books contain secondary characters who play the role of spokesmen and increase their leaders power. In Animal Farm, the secondary character, Squealer, has a way with words. To finalize, both novels include secondary character that play the role of a spokesmen in which they use their intellect and persuasive skill to assist their leader s power. Secondly, secondary characters in both novels play the role of followers who help their leader in obtaining more power. In Animal Farm, Boxer represents the hard working and loyal people. Boxer is a inspiration to all the other animals because of his strength, loyalty, and his never failing cry of I will work harder (Orwell 49). Plus, Boxer s faith and trust in Napoleon inspires the other animals to do so as well. In contrast, in Lord of the Flies, the Savages are the followers of Jack. They are all loyal to Jack but only because they want the food and protection that the hunters provide. Since Piggy does not have this knowledge of the truth, he is not able to explain that they only have themselves to fear, (comma splice) therefore the rest of the boys would have no other need to join the savages. The boys follow Jack because they fear the beast and Jack promises them that [his] hunters will protect [them] from the beast (Golding 166). To summarize, both secondary characters who play the role of the followers, are loyal to their leaders, but for different reasons yet, still bolster the leaders power. Thirdly, the two novels secondary characters play the
  • 13. Foul Is Fair In Macbeth Imagine. You see your son being dragged away. There s nothing you can do about it. You reach out to him. You re told it s for the better. You remember. Remember the times when you played with him, watched him grow up. Anger. Anger rising that you can t stop. Angry at the government. Angry at unfair treatment. It s unfair. It s foul. But that s not what they think, they think it s fair, that foul is fair. You might be thinking, what is he going on about? The Stolen Generation? The treatment of Aboriginal people? Land Rights? Fair is Foul, Foul is Fair . It s a very tricky concept. We find it in literature, media, political speeches and in everyday life. It is extensively explored in Shakespeare s Macbeth, where it means that appearances are often deceptive, and that things are different than what they appear to be. It points towards deception where appearance is not reality. Shakespeare s Macbeth, encounters the witches and they plant the idea in his head that he deserves to be king. This makes him vulnerable to his ambitious wife and leads to his downfall as he becomes increasingly entangled in his own ambitious and murderous deeds. Although, in real life, it is used as a paradox, a paradigm, a chiasmus, to criticise a person s double standards and dual personalities. It is used against politicians who present their dual personalities to the public, motivated purely by self interest rather than acting for honourable or unselfish reasons. This is how the British and

  • 15. She s The Man Gender There has always been a clear division of what the ideal feminine and masculine image is within the American film industry. These ideal traits are constantly being reinforced and performed in the cinema. Society has been formulated to criticize those that do not fit into the correct gender by humiliating and questioning their true identity. Through the years, Hollywood has been influenced by the post structural feminism, therefore they are now beginning to include a more diverse environment in which people of different genders and identities can feel more comfortable. She s the Man(2006), contradicts the genderand sexual norms within what Hollywood has characterized as High School. It portrays the gender inequality, and correctly states the reoccurring theme in most genres in which women are being observed and displayed for pleasure (Williams, 608). In the film, She s the Man, Viola (Amanda Bynes) pretends to be her brother Sebastian (James Kirk), while he is away at London. She does this to pursue her dream of continuing to play soccer. • 16. Essay On The Origin Of Native American Culture Origins of Native American Culture The disadvantages of farming without metal tools were compounded by the absence of the plow, the wheel, and large domesticated mammals. Like much of Africa, isolation and local conditions in the Americas produced an agriculture that relies solely on hoes and digging sticks. Could stone tools, hoes come and wooden cultivation sticks proficient enough to generate the needed food surpluses to produce great cities? Such restrictions on food production again raises the question of how civilization could have developed under such conditions. The fact that civilization did develop in the Americas, therefore requires some explanation (Wellach, 191). Just when the human history of the Americas actually began is the... Non Traditional, Contemporary Musical Notation Michael Muzio Sally Ann WilsonMUS 120 16 April 2016 Research Paper: Non Traditional, Contemporary Musical Notation I would like to start this paper by saying that I was very surprised to find out how much information was available on this subject. I found several good articles including an article written by Jimmy Stamp at www.smithsonian.com about experimental notation, and some interesting articles about the history of notation and how it has evolved over time. Traditional notation was developed over several centuries for use with music and instruments that were different from those of today. Around 1025 CE, Guido d Arezzo introduced the staff based system, but the five line staff did not become standardized until the 1500s. This staff based notation was a significant achievement that improved upon the notation systems that preceded it, notation has continued to evolve over time to address new notational needs as they arose. With the development of music notation, music was set free from the delicate bonds of oral and aural traditions (Stamp). A standardized, underlying structure meant that everything from Gregorian chant to Johnny B Goode could be preserved and proliferated with relative ease. However, beginning in the years after World War II, some more progressive musicians and composers began to think that the music staff might be more restricting than liberating and began to experiment with new, more expressive forms of graphic music notation (Stamp). • 22. Taking a Closer Lookt at Our Auditory System Essays Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory system, so as to understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that? Because as listeners, we owe to know some basic things about this magnificent human mechanism. Our auditory system is one of our gates to the outer world. It helps us pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce these stimuli into neural impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the brain. In fact, its basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical energy (that is, those sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in the brain). Now... When we say mechanical energy we mean a sound wave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This pinna is more or less oval shaped, flexible and can vary in size. Due to the fact that there are only few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn their heads towards the sound source location, in order to achieve a more accurate detection of the position of this sound source. As far as the middle ear is concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound wave into internal vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and ultimately transform these vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the inner ear. The middle ear could be described as an air filled cavity that consists of the eardrum and 3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact, they re the smallest bones of our body), the well known the hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to amplify the vibrations. What actually happens there, is that the compression of the sound wave forces the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the eardrum outward, thus vibrating the eardrum at the same frequency of the sound wave. After the eardrum s vibrations are passed through the middle ear bones, they go on to the cochlea. Basically, the movements of the eardrum are connected to the hammer and as a result, those movements set the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same frequency of the sound wave, as we said

  • 24. Similarities Between Wolves And Domestic Dogs Essay Abstract It is common knowledge that dogs were domesticated from wolves. However, the exact details of this process are not nearly as well known, and many studies have been performed in recent years to discover exactly what caused this change to occur. Many different techniques, from comparing morphological evidence to peeking into the genome itself have been used to unlock this mystery. While many factors of the evolution of dogs are still being studied, it is now known that domestic dogs were developed from an ancient, ancestral wolf species rather than from the gray wolf, that clear morphological differences between wolves and domestic dogs can be found, such as the difference in the shape of the skull, and that the ability to digest starch not only varies between dogs and wolves, but between different dog breeds. The findings in these studies each provide a different piece to the puzzle that is the initial domestication of ancient dogs. Understanding how dogs were domesticated could in turn shed a new light on the development of ancient humans. It is important to understand water quality not only for the health of the ecosystem, but also for humans who drink the water and use the water for recreational purposes. In the city, it is difficult to maintain adequate water quality standards because of factors like excessive pollutants from road runoff, sediments, nutrients, and organic waste. The water levels are often sporadic and will vary by land use such as a parking lot versus a park. The Colorado River The Colorado River had the highest water quality of all tested sites. The dissolved oxygen at this site was 8.92 mg/L and could be attributed to a number of different reasons (Table 1). The sample was taken when the sun was high and water dwelling plants had been photosynthesizing for a number of hours. The water was flowing fairly quickly and there was a small riffle at the area where the reading was taken which could have increased dissolved oxygen of the water. The river had a rocky gravel bottom which provided plenty of habitat for the macroinvertebrates that reside in the river. The variety of macroinvertebrates that were found were indicators of high water quality; species included caddisflies, mayflies, stoneflies, and dragonfly larvae. The macroinvertebrates were all very large specimens, indicating a healthy environment and plenty of resources to support their growth. The site examined was downstream of the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Plant. The high water quality at the Colorado River site could be partially attributed to the Plant s ability to sanitize and reuse wastes and prevent contamination through leakages of unclean water. The water at the Colorado River site was cool despite only mediocre tree cover. The flow was quick in thinner parts of the river and slowed when it widened out, giving

The Global Finance Crisis And Its Affects The Global Finance Crisis and Its Affects Davon Key Savannah State University Abstract In September and October 2008, the US suffered a severe financial dislocation that saw a number of large financial institutions collapse. Although this shock was of particular note, it is best understood as the culmination of a credit crunch that had begun in the summer of 2006 and continued into 2007. The US housing market is seen by many as the root cause of the financial crisis. Since the late 1990s, house prices grew rapidly in response to a number of contributing factors including persistently low interest rates, over generous lending and speculation. The bursting of the housing bubble, in addition to simultaneous crashes in other asset bubbles, triggered the credit crisis. The policy response to the financial crisis in the United States and elsewhere has largely been an attempt to rescue money manager capitalism. Moreover, in the case of the United States the bailout policy has contributed to further concentration of the financial sector, increasing dangers. We believe that the policies directed at saving the system are doomed to fail and that alternative policies should be adopted. The effective solution should come in the way of downsizing the financial sector by two thirds or more, and effecting fundamental modifications. The Global Finance Crisis and Its Affects The financial turmoil that engulfed the US during the 2007 09 began in the mortgage lending markets.

Although many similarities occur throughout the story of the star crossed lovers in the movie, a few minor and major differences also appear. The first obvious difference between the play and the movie happens in the first act. In the play version, Romeo reads a party invitation for the Capulet servant. He knows of the Capulet party because he reads the letter. In the movie, the Capulet servant does not appear, Romeo just shows up at the party. She strongly believed that the use of all natural chocolate, cream, and butter made the difference in her chocolates, so only the finest ingredients were used. Preservatives were not added to the candies, thereby enhancing the high quality taste. To control the quality, candies were made at the single manufacturing location. Candies were made by hand, the old fashioned way, and packaged in a distinctive silver box with a blue ribbon in a bow. The silver box with a blue ribbon bow became a well recognized symbol of Bleu Ribbon Chocolates and the quality candies they produced; indeed, the box became synonymous with the brand. The Functional And Chemical Properties Of A Meringue To investigate the functional and chemical properties of the ingredients used in a meringue, I will research the different ingredients used to make a meringue and how they affect the physical and chemical properties of the meringue. I will particularly focus on the properties of eggs and why egg yolk cannot be used to make meringue. Meringue can be made in different ways with different types of ingredients. The basic ingredients needed to make a meringue is eggwhites and sugar. However you can add other ingredients to change or stabilize the meringue. After doing some basic research, I will carry out practical investigations and experiment the functional and chemical properties of a meringue. Prior Learning: Function of the ingredients in meringue Eggs eggs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proteins in the egg are broken down physically by denaturation which breaks the chemical bonds that hold the chains in their tangles, allowing them to uncoil into long strands (source: https://highered.mheducation.com/sites/0078616441 /student_view0/food_science_activities/demystifying_meringue.html). The strands then start to coagulate which links the proteins together and stabilizes the meringue. Once the egg whites are light and frothy, sugar is added to stabilize the meringue by gathering proteins on the surface area of the air bubbles and to make it thick and glossy. Once the meringue is whisked to the point where it forms stiff peaks. The meringues are then piped onto a baking tray and baked in the oven for around 40 minutes to an hour, until they are pale, dry, puffy and delicate. Meringues are generally bakes at around 325 F so that the air bubbles expand, the water evaporates and the proteins coagulate at an even rate throughout the meringue
  • 39. The Components Of Energy Use In Plants And Cells 1. Every cell, whether it belongs to a plant, bacteria or an animal, requires energy from a food source to survive. However, when cells break down food into its sugar components, i.e. glucose, they cannot use these components directly because glucose molecules contain too much energy. Imagine you want to buy pencils for $5 from a store that won t give change: it is more economical to use a $5 or $10 bill than a $100 bill, thus eliminating waste. The same concepts apply to energy use in cells, instead of using a big energy molecule like glucose and wasting energy, cells will convert it into smaller units for prolonged use. These smaller molecules are called ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Breaking down glucose and making ATP requires many steps and by products, for simplicity our focus will only be on the part of the reaction that just synthesizes ATP. The ATP molecule can be made by a special molecule complex called ATP synthase, which combines two subunits to create the ATP. These subunits include a sugar molecule ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and another molecule Pi (inorganic phosphate). The ATP synthase complex is located on a membrane within the mitochondria, which is a structure found in cells and acts as a channel between two parts of the mitochondria that the membrane separates. The outermost part is called the intermembrane space and the innermost central area is the matrix. ATP production occurs when a charged force across this membrane stimulates a region of the

Moreover, it will explore the effect that the fall in price will have on major oil companies and their supply companies. Finally, it will present how the fall in oil price might affect consumers in the European Union. Crude oil is the one of the most important natural resource of the industrialised nations, which could generate heat, drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes (years, someone). Moreover, the crude oil components are used to manufacture almost all chemical products, such as plastic, detergents, paints and medicines (years, someone). Milton and Classical Predecessors As shown in studies by researchers including Wilmon Brewer, the similarities between the works of Milton and his classical predecessors, such as Athenian bards Aeschylus and Sophocles, strongly suggest their inspiration upon his work. However, this doesn t necessarily mean that Milton blatantly passed off the works of his influences as his own; his ingenuity manifests in the form of updated storylines and personalities for the characters in his epic poems, namely those in Samson Agonistes and Paradise Lost, both based upon stories in the Bible. With that in mind, he appointed exemplars from Scripture to his tragic masterpieces as they demonstrate the outcomes of sin: Satan, Adam, and Eve in Paradise Lost, and Samson in Samson Agonistes. Brewer states that Milton praised Aeschylus Prometheus Bound, noting To the work of Aeschylus Milton refers four times in passages of criticism. The references become more and more inclusive and increasingly favorable (910). Indeed, Milton applauds his Athenian influences in the preface of Agonistes, calling them unequalled yet by any, and the best to rule all who endeavor to write tragedy (qtd. in Brewer 911). Brewer interprets this as holding the Athenians in higher regard over Shakespeare, whom Milton also admired. He suggests Aeschylus trilogy on the death of Agamemnon prompted Milton s admiration for drama portraying human suffering. The star will throw out its outer layers in a terrific explosion, this is called a supernova. The star will then begin to contract under the force of gravity. But unlike the first possibility, this star will not be able to halt its collapse. The star will become smaller and smaller until it gets to the point where it has become infinitely dense and infinitely small the singularity of a black hole. The horizon is often referred to as the clothes of the black hole, as it is a barrier that separates the singularity from the rest of the universe. The event horizon can be seen by rays of light that are caught in a perpetual orbit around the black hole unable to escape yet unable to fall in. If anything, they will comment video games encourage negative outcomes, such as obesity, aggressiveness, antisocial behavior and in extreme cases, addiction (Bavelier, Braintraining: Games to do you good , 2013). Besides the fact that there is no correlational proof that video games encourage violent behavior, psychologists have proved that some good does come out of playing games. Video games, it seems, encourage positive brain plasticity. In the meeting hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, scientist gathered to discuss way of using interactive technology, such as games, to boost brain activity (Bavelier, Brain training: Games to do you good , 2013). Their attention was sparked when they noticed the growing amount of data that demonstrates the level of cognitive superiority video games experts wield over novices in terms of their capacity of attention and perception. The scientist proposed that perhaps using video games as a tool for training the brain is a viable option if there was some sort of interrelationship between games and positive brain activity.
