Attending an AA meeting was intimidating at first, but it was one of the most moving and enlightening
experiences of my life. I attended a meeting called the Nooners Group at the Serenity Club in
Alexandria. The group had six men and one woman in attendance. The members were mostly white
and were about 40 years or older. The group seemed to be in a middle or lower socio economic level.
The meeting started with several short readings. I was invited to read the AA preamble. Then, the
group leader suggested reading a story from the big blue book. The story focused on a woman s denial
of her addiction and eventual acceptance of her alcoholism. After the reading, almost every person
spoke about their own addiction and how it related to the story of the woman. After the time of
sharing, the group held hands, said the AA chants, and recited the Lord s Prayer. Afterwards, some
group members lingered to interact and chat. I was so moved by the power of the meeting. At times, it
felt very serious and emotional, but there were moments of levity, where the group would laugh or nod
in agreement. Overall, the meeting was emotional, inspirational, and healing.

Radish farms along the Nelson river had a recent lack of growth of their radishes. A landfill and a salt
storage facility had recently opened along the river near the farms. Samples from the river were taken
and used to grow radishes to see what caused the lack of growth. The salt storage facility had leaked
into the river, causing samples B and D not grow.

It was in the middle of Nelson River between irrigation pumps. There was an abundance of salt and it
was not able to dissolve or become diluted enough for the plants to grow. This helps prove that the salt
is the reason why the radish seeds were not growing on this farm.
Each seed with Site E water grew on average 7.625 centimeters. Site E was located after Kimmel s
Creek joined in with the river, where Kimmel s Creek brings fresh water and helps dilute or dissolve
the salt. All this data helps find the reason why the farmers are having problems with growing their
crops by the Nelson River.
The hypothesis that was being tested was if the salt facility was leaking salt, then the crops will not
grow. The hypothesis was supported by the data gathered because it proves that the seeds in the sites
located near the salt facility did not grow at all, but the other seeds did when they were not affected.
Site B and D s seeds did not even sprout and they were located either by the salt facility or slightly

LASIK EYE SURGERY Introduction Laser assisted in situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) eye surgery is a
popular form of elective out patient surgery that enables individuals with poor eyesight to recover
improved vision, ideally, so that they can discard their glasses and contact lenses altogether
(Hellemans Bunch, 2006). In principle, LASIK consists of a procedure in which a laser is used to
reshape the lens of the eye. It works because the majority of cases of poor vision result from refractive
problems, meaning that the corneal lens of the eye fails to focus light properly onto the retina to
enable clear vision. Generally, this is caused by advancing age because the cornea becomes less

It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers and
progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or Faith song.
My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need you , which was an
