Punk Rock Revolution
Despite the internal turmoil in the punk movement, punk rock made several things clear to
international audiences. Punk Rock, in its subculture, managed to break down many barriers of
expression and language. It made an indentation in the commercial music industry. It provided a fresh
alternative to a boring, stagnant music scene. But most of all, punk s legacy lies in its introduction of
self employment and activism, most essential to Britain at the time. It illustrated that anyone can do it
themselves, without reliance on the commercial media or the luxury of having financial abundance.
Against the backdrop of mass consumer conformity, the punk rock movement made a statement of
individuality that was heard worldwide. Through the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

London was in decay, a waste land, in the late 60s and 70s. The people were enduring a great
depression, with a failed economy providing mass unemployment and, therefore, no money; thus
London teenagers were face with no future, no hope. Riots were the only way these angry teenagers
had voiced their frustration; that is, until Punk hit the streets. Ã’I had no future, I had to write my own

scene he had witnessed at CBGB. He opened SEX, a clothing store which specialized in anti fashion ,
and sold the slashed T shirts, drapes, brothel creepers and fetish gear later popularized by the punk
movement. He began managing his knew project The Swankers, who would soon evolve into the Sex

A Review On Thing Net Works
In numerous genuine applications, other than the input and thing content data, there may exist
relations (or systems) among the things which can likewise be useful for proposal. For instance, in the
event that we need to prescribe papers (references) to clients in Cite ULike, the reference relations
between papers are useful for suggesting papers with comparable subjects. Different case of thing net
works can be found in hyperlinks among site pages, motion pictures coordinated by the same
executives, et cetera. In this paper, we build up a novel progressive Bayesian model, called Relational
Collaborative Topic Regression (RCTR), to join thing relations for suggestion. The principle
commitments of RCTR are laid out.
II. Foundation: In this area, we give a brief presentation about the back ground of RCTR, including
CF based suggestion, network factorization (MF) (likewise called inactive component model) based
CF strategies and CTR. A.CF Based Recommendation Collaborative theme relapse is proposed to
prescribe records (papers) to clients via flawlessly incorporating both input framework and thing
(archive) content data into the same model, which can address the issues confronted by MF based CF.
By joining MF and inactive Dirichlet distribution (LDA), CTR accomplishes preferable expectation
execution over MF based CF with better interpretable results. In addition, with the thing content data,
CTR can anticipate input for out of grid things. The graphical model of CTR is

Qantas Airways Essay
Qantas Airways Limited is an Australian flag career company where it earns most part of revenue
from providing air transport services. The airline has widespread domestic and international airline
network, which combines services of Qantas, Jetstar and regional network operator QantasLink. The
industry also provides services across a network in Australia, the United States, the Asia Pacific
region, South America, Africa and Europe. Qantas Airways Ltd. was found in November 1920 under
the name Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS). Qantas s customers
have an access to the hundreds of destination and airport lounges across the world. This Oneworld
Alliance supports Qantas domestic activities as it enhances the company s exposure to international
travellers, who often transfer to domestic flights at major Australian airports.
2.2 Economic drivers
2.3 Outlook and Performance
International travel to Australia measures the number of short term international travellers arriving in
Australia. Most of these travellers travel to Australia by air due to the country s geographical isolation.
As such, an increase in international travel to Australia tends to increase demand for international air
travel. In 2015 16, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

significantly rises up every month. Especially, there are more and more people from China are visiting
Australia, which will provide Qantas with a great revenue. However, the competitors of Qantas, with
low cost tickets, can have a big pressure on Qantas and lead to decrease in price. Although, there will
be a greater demand from Australians and international travellers to purchase tickets from this
industry. The demand of the company is planning to rise at an annualised 1.2% over the next

The Village Symbolism
Evil is a strange subject for people but it is in everyone lives. The Village directed by M. Night
Shyamalan and The Crucible by Arthur Miller both explore how evil is perceive to be outside of a
society. Both authors agree evil is not just outside of a society but is within a community in the form
of human nature. Evil is outside and inside a society and individuals. Both authors agree that evil
perceived to be outside the community. Both authors utilise symbolism of a forest to demonstrate the
separation of evil and the community. Shyamalan creates the village to be isolated by forest which is
bordered off with yellow wooden poles. Miller also creates the Salem folk to believe that the virgin
forest was the Devil s last preserve [and] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both authors use characters to portray this idea but Shyamalan only uses one character while Miller
utilises multiple characters. He achieves this through the character, Noah who stabs Lucius out of
jealousy. The director creates Noah to have a clear mental disorder which allows him to seem
innocence; this creates an uncomfortable feeling for the audience as Noah a murderer but due to his
innocence the audience sympathises him. This scene is very quiet to emphasise that evil can be quiet
and lurking. Shyamalan also utilises also utilises the lighting to expose what is evil. At the end of this
scene, there is medium long shot of an empty chair facing towards the woods. The empty chair
represents someone missing in this case, the death of a villager. This scene s lighting changes as the
woods are in the light and the village is in the darks. This symbolises that the evil is not in the outside
world but within the village. Miller employs multiple characters unlike Shyamalan to prove evil can
be within the community. Miler s character, Parris is outraged that he only earns sixty pound[s] a year!
and that he is not used to [such] poverty. Parris wants more money; this greed causes Paris to play
along and persuade the authority that his rivals are witches to gain their land. Another character,
Abigail also has evil intentions. She wants John Proctor but his has a wife; this motivates Abigail to
kill John Proctor wife. These evil intentions are not caused by evil forces but desire within the person.
The accusations of witchcraft are a long overdue opportunity for everyone, to gain want they want.
Miller creates the judge, Danforth to be oblivious that vengeance is walking Salam, because twelve
innocent people have already hanged. does not want to ruin his reputation so he agrees with the
accusers. Miller employs irony to illustrate the evil within the villagers.

The Singularity Is Near Book Response
The Singularity is Near: Book Response The Singularity is Near was written by Ray Kurzweil in
2005. Kurzweil looks into the near future and confidently predicts where we, as a species, will find
ourselves. The Singularity is a future period at which artificial intelligence will match and exceed the
intelligence of humans, including the problem solving skills, pattern recognition, even emotional and
moral intelligence of the human brain. We will reach this point relatively soon. Kurzweil estimates
that the Singularity will arrive in 2045. An important reason why we are reaching this point is
exponential growth. As time goes on, we double the growth of computing consistently. As you can see
in the chart on the right, the growth of computing has increased drastically. This is because it increases
at an exponential rate instead of linear. Linear growth is steady; exponential growth becomes
explosive. An exponential rate is when numbers are continuously multiplied by a ... Show more

How N- Is The World s Best Selling Chemical Herbicide Essay
N (phosphonomethyl) glycine known as glyphosate is the world s best selling chemical herbicide.
Usually, it is combined with surfactants called POEA in order to improve the efficiency. ( Glyphosate |
Surfactants: A Threat To Fish And Frogs? ) The use as herbicide of glyphosate was discovered by
Monsanto chemist John E. Franz in 1970(PENN LYNCH, 1982). He found out that glyphosate can
block the enzyme that plants need to create amino acids and other important plant metabolite. Once
the glyphosate is absorbed by the plant, it will lead the plant s death by starvation. ( Glyphosate |
Glyphosate: mechanism of action , 2016). As the growing use of glyphosate based herbicides every
year, scientist around the world have raised concerns about glyphosate based herbicides safety. In
March 2015 the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that glyphosate
belongs in a 2A category which there is a possibility of causing cancer ( Does glyphosate (Roundup)
cause cancer? 2016). There is also a report showing that animals exposed to products with glyphosate
may drool, vomit, have diarrhea, lose their appetite, or seem sleepy. ( Glyphosate General Fact Sheet ,
2016). All these evidence show that using glyphosate based herbicides has its risk and possibility of
doing harm to our livings and environment. The aims of this report are to mentioning the ways of

are similarities within the two styles, they use similar techniques in getting across certain issues. The

She does not bow down to the white mayor s wife, she is as abrupt and bad tempered with her as she is

circumstances. In one allegorical section Jeanette enters the city of last chances. She has already gone
so far in pursuing her sexuality, and she ends up in the final disappointment. She can not go back and
has to choose. She controls this idea with I m about to become a buyer. i.e. She is going ahead with
her truth and is purchasing herself, rather than letting others buy it and dictate to her. Sofia also went
ahead with her fight, but came to a more tragic conclusion than Jeanette. Both deal with betrayal, in
the sense that Janet s mother buries her belongings and that Sofia has to deal with racial hatred. Of
course Sofia s is far more fundamental and it is more of having to deal with hate than betrayal. This is
evident in that the white folk never liked her, although the mayors wife did speak more kindly before
Sofia stuck up for the truth. Both sections also explore the comfort and protection Celie seeks and gets

Compare And Contrast Hester And Dimmesdale
French poet Jean De La Fontaine once said, Nothing weighs on us so heavily as a secret does. Set in
the harsh Puritan community of seventeenth century Boston, Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet
Letter is a tale of a woman named Hester Prynne who is involved in an affair scandal. As a result she
is punished by the relentless society and is ordered to bear a scarlet A on her bosom for the remainder
of her life which stands for adulterer. However, the mystery as to who the father is of her newborn
baby, Pearl would remain a mystery for seven years. One of the town s most renowned figures, their
beloved minister Arthur Dimmesdale proves to be a true exhibit of Mr. Fontaine s saying since he is
the illicit lover of Hester and is Pearl s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester s scarlet letter is a piece of clothing, the SCARLET LETTER, so fantastically embroidered and
illuminated upon her bosom (Hawthorn 51). Her interpretation of the extremity of her sins is one of
self composure and calm. She views her sins solely as a violation in the natural order of the
environment and therefore cannot even perceive her sin as being evil except through outside influence.
Dimmesdale on the other hand, has a scarlet letter carved in his chest. This is revealed when
Dimmesdale was giving his revelation, in which he tore away the ministerial band from before his
breast. It was revealed! (Hawthorn 232). Dimmesdale s personal interpretation as to the extremity of
his own sins is a violation of God s law, which is the law that he is totally dedicated to and supported
by. Dimmesdale s interpretation of his sin is much more severe than Hester s, it is a violation and
direct contradiction of his own self consciousness and physical existence. Therefore the appearance of
his A, even though it is never directly described in the novel, must be powerful, broken, and brutally
dishonest (...a ghastly rapture; Hawthorne pg.95). Since the Scarlet Letter on Hester is visible to the
public, she was criticized and looked down on. This women has brought shame upon us all, and ought
to die (Hawthorn 49) is said by a female in the marketplace talking about Hester. She becomes a
stronger person through living this hard life.

The Constitutional Monarchy System Of Nepal
Until 1990, Nepal was ruled by an authoritarian system. Democracy was declared in 1990 however it
was constitutional monarchy system so people were not happy with this system. In 1996, Nepal
Communist Party Maoist started civil war and ended in 2006. A decade long civil war had 42 demands
but 2 demands were noteworthy that were constituent assembly election (CA) and federal system in
Nepal. There was a peace process agreement between Maoist and government of Nepal in 2006.
Constituent elections were held two times. After CA election, a new federal constitution has been
made in 2015 but it will not be functioning until new federal election is done. People have taken it
negatively and positively both side. It is said that the constitution is being rightly said to be amongst
the most progressive in Asia guaranteeing equal rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
community and providing representation for the same in government mechanisms (P. Rohit, 2015).
In the last sixty five years, this is the first that has been widely adopted by an elected constituent
assembly. This constitution has also made a progressive transition from being sixty years of being a
Hindu state to a secular nation (P. Rohit, 2015). It is also the first constitution that moves away from
the previously unitary system to a federal nature by setting up different provinces distributing
legislative and executive powers between the legislative and provincial governments (P. Rohit, 2015).

Global Airline Industry Essay
The airline industry has seen drastic changes since September 11, 2001. The government ordered a
complete shutdown for three days of not only all commercial aircraft but such carriers as domestic
flights and emergency aircraft. For days after September 11th, all aircraft stayed on the ground. Even
military aircraft had to receive special clearance to fly. In a ripple effect, the entire economy of the
United States and the world was put on hold. The New York Stock Exchange shut its doors because of
the attacks on the towers of the World Trade Center.
The airline industry is classified into four categories by the Department of Transportation. The four
categories are International, National, Regional and Cargo. The following are ... Show more content

Because of their cheaper fares, the larger airlines are forced to hold down the cost of their flights in
order to still attract customers. Of course when a smaller regional carrier does not service a destination
that one of the larger carriers does, then any potential cost savings is lost. Another point worth noting
is that several of these regional carriers are subsidiaries of a larger airline. After September 11th,
passenger traffic dropped off severely, causing the airlines to cut flights, layoff workers and park
surplus aircraft (College Grad, n.d.). Conditions are favorable for a turn around in passenger traffic.
With the ever expanding world economy, business travel has become more necessary. One area that is
not expected to grow is the domestic cargo segment in comparison to international cargo flights.
Airlines need to examine the destinations where they fly. If one of the destinations becomes
unpopular, then the airline will need to make adjustments or profits will suffer. A good example would
be back in the late 50 s where one of airlines main destinations would have been Cuba. Some of the
ways costs are figured in the airline industry are as follows: available seat miles, revenue passenger
miles, load factor, and revenue per available seat miles. The available seat miles calculation is the
number of seats available multiplied by the number of miles flown (Wikipedia, 2007). The revenue
passenger miles calculation is the

The Implementation Of Any Erp Package
The implementation of any ERP package is a matter of concern for the management of any enterprise,
and the same needs to be undertaken after a considerable amount of planning and with a long term an
analysis of the situation. Changing from an existing package and moving to a completely new package
involves considerable amount of efforts and shall have an effect on the entire organisation, and hence,
they need to be undertaken with thorough planning. The new package installed shall materially alter
the manner of working of the people in the enterprise, and shall replace all the existing operating
procedures. People require time to adjust to this, and to get along well with the new software. The
management while deciding to implement any such change, must analyse the current situation and
develop a strategy for implementation of the new package and only then the idea may be moved head,
and given a concrete form.
Considering the above introduction and a brief about the implementation of new software on a general
basis we shall discuss the matter of ERP implementation at Company
The management of Company, planned to implement a new ERP based system in the organisation, the
same was planned way back in 1996 with an initial horizon period of 4 years for the installation
process. The management has identified some of the goals and objectives for itself as an area of
concern. Some of the key points identified by the management as their goals were as follows:

Three Day Diet Analysis
For this three day diet analysis project I wanted to eat as I normally would and be honest about all that
I ate, to analyze not only what and how much I was eating, but also to see how healthy my diet really
is. By doing so I can see if any of my diet choices are putting me at risk for certain health diseases,
and what changes can be made to make my diet healthier. After analyzing my diet, I would say I am
fairly healthy, though I am out of the target range in a few areas. My profile calculated from my

Protein is responsible 18% of my calories, where fats make up 35% and carbohydrates are 47%. To
better evenly distribute my calories, I can lower my fat intake by about 10% to be in the range of 20

25% of my calories from fat. With the decrease of those calories, I could increase my carbohydrate
intake by about 57 58 grams, this would leave me at the same caloric intake. By increasing the amount
of carbohydrates consumed by 57 grams this would raise the percentage that carbohydrates are adding

amounts of poly unsaturated that I consume. From the bar report as well my results showed

Components Of The Performance Management
Several components of the performance likewise strategic planning and management, accountability
of performance, performance auditing and performance measurement were part of undisputed
characteristics. In a similar vein, Hood (1991: 4 5) noted several characteristics of the NPM, he
outlines seven elements of NPM, whereas points number 2 and 3 are refer to the components of the
performance management. 1. Hands on professional management, An active discretionary control of
organization by a named individual at the top, which is free to manage. In a simpler words Turner
(2002) plead this first elements as letting the managers manage . 2. Explicit standards and measures of
performance, Definition of goals, target, indicators of success in expressed preferably in quantitative
terms. 3. Greater emphasis on output controls, Resource allocation and rewards linked to measured
performance and the break up of bureaucratic personnel management. 4. Disaggregation of units in the
public sector, Unbundling of organisations to create decentralized units operating at arm length . 5.
Greater competition in the public sector, Move to term contracts and public tendering procedures. 6.
Stress on public sector style of management practice Move away from traditional public service ethics
in terms of hiring and rewards. 7. Stress on greater discipline and parsimony in resource
allocation/utilization. Cutting direct cost, boost labour discipline resisting labour demands and limiting

Digital Dark Age Essays
Digital Dark Age For thousands of years, we humans have kept records. We have carved on walls and
rocks, carved on tablets and stones, and written on leaves. Many of these records have survived to this
day; as we have used them to read, learn about, and understand our history and ancestors. The
invention of printing made writing records much easier and faster. Information that changed the world
had been printed on paper, and some of this information too survived till this day. In the 20th century,
we began keeping records and saving information in a different way: technological, computerized and
digital format. This way of keeping information included media such as pictures or films. Henceforth,
different programs have been made and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some programs made to read digital information no longer run. Nowadays, you rarely find drives that
read 8 floppy disks or floppy disks from 2000. If a program that reads a certain type of information
saving device is no longer available, the information on that device may disappear forever. Some
family information may be lost, information held sacred by the family members. And not only such
information, but also data from pivotal scientific research, theories and discoveries may be lost too.
Many people believe that a digital dark age has already begun. These observations about the present
times form the basis for this conclusion:
Enormous amounts of digital information are already lost forever. Digital historycannot be recreated
by individuals and organizations cannot recreate a digital historybecause it was not archived or
managed properly or it resides in formats that cannot beaccessed because the information is on out
dated word processor files.
Information technologies are essentially obsolete every 18 months.
There is a proliferation of document and media formats, each one potentially carrying their own
hardware and software dependencies (Kuny).
Before this digital form of a dark age takes over, what must be done to preserve our digital
information and records and keep them from disappearing? Foremost, we need to boost

Next to of Course God America I by E.E. Cummings
e. e. cummings poem, next to of course god america i, is a wonderful example of stylistic variation in

is evidence of a multitude of variances and deviances at work, however, I shall concentrate on the area
of language variance, more specifically, domain.

The last line of the poem shows the speaker drinking a glass of water rapidly. Why did cummings
choose to invert this line? Why does the speaker drink at all? cummings could be mentioning this
detail in an effort to portray just how irrelevant this speech really is. The adverb rapidly occurs in a
most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter, since
the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the syntax, then
cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it be that by writing
a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings inverts his apparently
objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his commentary to produce
an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted philosophy of this speaker and
foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech.
In this poem, carefully worked out in sonnet form, cummings pillories a Fourth of July speechmaker
by choosing patriotic and religious clichés common to platform oratory and compressing fragments of
them together in order to demonstrate the meaningless emptiness that the speakers

Building A Small Business At An Affordable Cost
Methods It was determined that the three needs in these existing global businesses are:
The opportunity to operate a small business at an affordable cost. For an individual to run a small
business, the shared office space is beneficial because of the low overhead cost that divides costs
among other small business owners. In Canada, the concept of shared office space is popular.
According to the Canada Innovation, Science and Economic Development there are eleven companies
registered and doing business in the capacity of SOS. The two largest firms in Canada for shared

interviewing current small business owners who are currently using the shared office space. Also the
information presented in the articles about business using shared office space.
Competitive Advantage
One competitive advantage for this new business of shared office space in Canada would be to have
print services which would be included in the price of office rental. Print services will be based on
type of rental membership purchased and additional fees will apply after reached print limit. From the

Myers Briggs Type Indicator Test
Personality tests are used to assist people in finding out a little about themselves. The test should not
be taken as an exact match to what the person is. The person may have characteristics similar to the
type, but they are not bound to that type. The 16 types are useful to help a person come to a conclusion
regarding their strengths and weakness. Though the tests are not accurate and should not be taken as
something serious, they don t reflect each person accurately.

can be nice to have a conversation. It helps if the other person has a similar type to the INTP so that
they can have a well directed conversation.
I think some of the personality traits might be difficult to have in a work environment. I think the
INTP can be good when asking questions to see multiple sides, but it will be hard for them to decide. I
think the INTP communication skills are not very inviting and may turn people away. It will be hard to
make friends and network in jobs with this. Although when you get to know and INTP, I think they

A personality trait that influences my work environment might be from the fact that I am introverted,
and I like to work alone. That was one of the things mentioned about INTP, because they learn better
alone and not in groups. I have done a few group projects and it seems that only some people do the
work or help others with the work that needs to be done. I think meeting with a group and deciding

While many people believe that there are other programs worth funding for such as sports, schools
should increase the amount of funds that fine art programs receive. Not only is fine art a way to

To begin with, education and engagement in fine art programs are an essential part within the school

Analysis of Thomas Birch s painting An American Ship in Distress
Examining the formal qualities of Thomas Birch s painting An American Ship in Distress was very
interesting. This paper will analyze and illustrate what I saw in this particular piece of artwork. The
paper will also discuss the art elements such as line, shape, color, texture, scale, and composition of
the artwork.
I chose the art piece entitled An American Ship in Distress because it looks pretty amazing. Another
reason I chose to analyze this piece as opposed to the others is because it was the piece I liked the
most, therefore making me analyze it more closely and discover other aspects of the work would make
me appreciate it more. I also chose this because I enjoy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the artist is able to communicate the bad condition of the ship and its crew is in. The mood of
the work is scary and gloomy. The design and intensity of the waves, the changing weather, and the
ships in the ocean seem to make the scene come alive. It really conveys a since of naturalism in the
painting the way it depicts the environment around the ship.
The texture of the canvas works very well with the subject matter portrayed in the painting. The strong
ocean current and the cloudy mountain side are complimented by the canvas. It makes the waves seem
like they re moving against the ship. The ship is nicely detailed as well as the people in the painting.
The brushstrokes are very clean and precise on the waves in the foreground. The brushstrokes do
create a sense of movement in the painting. The surface of the artwork looks rough where the ocean is
painted and where the clouds are painted it appears smooth and soft. This artwork is linear rather than
painterly.
The distressed ship is the biggest in the painting, making it the center of the piece. The artist drew the
two other ships small to make them seem distant and another small boat close to the damaged ship.
The scale of the painting itself is pretty big; it s 36 inches long and 53 inches wide.
The lines on the ocean made by the waves seem to point to the ships direction as if guiding your eyes
to where you re supposed to be looking at. Also the lines on the mountains seem to be pointing to the

For a country to be recognizable as a nation it must consist of population, sovereignty, a governing

Many of these demonstrations have been uncivil and have had very negative impacts on the country

these demonstrations are in protest of our newly sworn in Commander in Chief Donald Trump. Many
of these specific protests have turned to riots where the protestors turn violent and harm others with

Million Women March which occurred the day following President Trump s inauguration. This march

Abstract
In this article an in depth overview is presented on Computer aided diagnostic (CAD) system s usage
for liver cancer. Besides, in a broader sense highlighting the technical aspects developed for medical
ultrasound images is also discussed. CAD system is a process that provides adequate information that
helps to analyze the Ultrasound images and helps to accurately detecting different types of liver
cancer. However, the system performance is still not significantly improved. In this paper, firstly, we
categorize the CAD system according to the four primary stages including data preprocessing, lesion
segmentation, feature extraction, selection, and Classifier. In each stage, we review specific methods
that are commonly used in most of the algorithms proposed for computerized tissue characterization
and discuss their advantages and drawbacks. Then, recent proposed algorithms is presented in
summarize form that have shown clinical value or specific possibility to the computerized analysis of
setback for ultrasound liver images. These techniques or their combinations are the ones that are
mostly used in the past few decades by the majority of work published in the Computer aided
diagnosis domain.

The purpose of this experiment was to analyze the conservation of mechanical energy of a harmonic
oscillating spring system. In addition, this observation involved analyzing to what affect some of the
mechanical energy was lost or dissipated into other forms of energy, despite the experiment s attempt
to minimize the dissipation of the energy as much as possible.
The first part of the experiment involved calculating the spring force constant (k) of the harmonic

The photogate comb consisted of 61 teeth that were each (2.00 ±0.03) mm wide, with gaps in between
each tooth of the same dimensions as shown in Figure 2 below.
As shown in the figure above, it is necessary to measure the displacement of the comb, and thus wise
to establish an equilibrium position. In the example above, the 27th tooth is being used as the
equilibrium position; however, for this experiment, the 31st tooth was used as the equilibrium
position, or rather the position with zero displacement. In addition, the photogate sensor was placed
just to the right of the 31st tooth, as to begin in the unblocked position. Therefore to start the
experiment, the comb was to be pulled to the right, just beyond the photogate sensor, and the motion
would be directed to the left.
When the photogate comb was released, the times were recorded at the intervals when the comb teeth
blocked the photogate sensor. For example, the time that corresponds to the 31st tooth would represent
the position x=0 m, while the time corresponding to when the first tooth blocked the sensor
represented a position of x= 0.12 m. Therefore, 61 times were recorded, and the times stopped just
before the comb was to reverse its motion, or in other words, a half oscillation of the harmonic
oscillator.

growing economic dependency (Foner 636) in the mid nineteenth century, farmers in the South began
to face inevitable economic uncertainty. Farmers, both white and black alike, were thrown into
poverty due to sharecropping and the fall of the price of cotton, and many faced the fear of losing
everything they had due the inability to pay bank loans. Believing that their situation was caused by

Essay on slyvia plath
Sylvia Plath s quot;Mirror, quot; shows a truly thoughtful look into the different sights and feelings a
mirror would have if it were a live conscious being, unable to lie. By showing the thoughts and
emotions that a mirror would emit, Plath makes you look inward towards how you present yourself
not only to your mirror but also to yourself. This is an eye opening poem because of its truthful
descriptions of the relationship between the inner feelings of people and how their outward
appearances that they portray of themselves affect them in and out of the public realm. Examples of
this are put throughout the poem quot;Mirror, quot; and can be found in just about every line of the

The next section of the poem introduces a woman into the life of the mirror. She look toward the
mirror seeking to find what she truly wants to discover (beauty), and the mirror truthfully reflects back
to her what it sees. She turns from the reflection as if to look for the quot;truth quot; in something else,
not excepting what she has just seen. Unable to find it, the mirror sees her agitation and depression
after seeing her true self within it. She is always looking into the mirror to make sure everything is
perfect and to put everything in it s place, so to speak. In this the mirror, as the years seemingly pass,
sees the young girl transform from her youth into an old woman and lose all that she has fretted over
and over about throughout her life. Each day, she is reminded by the mirror of her lost youth and
beauty that was once projected back at her so faithfully.
The mirror in the poem is a representation of the truths in life that as a person is difficult to come to
terms with in one s self. The woman s view of herself and her reluctance to accept her natural and God
given beauty, shows how we all (as a society or as an individual) find it hard to accept ourselves for
who we truly are. How we try to make ourselves into a conformed object of quot;popular beauty quot;
based upon our outward appearance, instead of going by how our personal feelings that come from

Daisy Miller Research Paper
In the novel Daisy Miller, writer Henry James shows the different cultures between American and

believed that America was a country of democracy and freedom. For his novels he always set against a
larger international background, usually between America and Europe by showing the two different

Kurzweil looks into the near future and confidently predicts where we, as a species, will find ourselves. The Singularity is a future period at which artificial intelligence will match and exceed the intelligence of humans, including the problem solving skills, pattern recognition, even emotional and moral intelligence of the human brain. We will reach this point relatively soon. Kurzweil estimates that the Singularity will arrive in 2045. An important reason why we are reaching this point is exponential growth. As time goes on, we double the growth of computing consistently. As you can see in the chart on the right, the growth of computing has increased drastically. Another point worth noting is that several of these regional carriers are subsidiaries of a larger airline. After September 11th, passenger traffic dropped off severely, causing the airlines to cut flights, layoff workers and park surplus aircraft (College Grad, n.d.). Conditions are favorable for a turn around in passenger traffic. With the ever expanding world economy, business travel has become more necessary. The adverb rapidly occurs in a most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter, since the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the syntax, then cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it be that by writing a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings inverts his apparently objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his commentary to produce an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted philosophy of this speaker and foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech. The government also exists to ensure that itself remains under control from becoming tyrannical. The United States government is a two party system made up of republicans and democrats. Most of these demonstrations are in protest of our newly sworn in Commander in Chief Donald Trump. That is unethical disobedience which should not be tolerated. Another protest which was a negative representation of civil disobedience was the Million Women March which occurred the day following President Trump s inauguration. This march was exclusive, somewhat violent, and consisted of very limited vocabulary. In Washington, D.C., the pro life feminist group New Wave Feminists were removed from the march by the people who claimed to be pro woman. In D.C., there were some people dressed in right wing representing attire and were physically harmed by the tolerable and pro woman protestors. At many of these marches across the country and the world, people chanted vulgar words and expletives. In the example above, the 27th tooth is being used as the equilibrium position; however, for this experiment, the 31st tooth was used as the equilibrium position, or rather the position with zero displacement. In addition, the photogate sensor was placed just to the right of the 31st tooth, as to begin in the unblocked position. Therefore to start the experiment, the comb was to be pulled to the right, just beyond the photogate sensor, and the motion would be directed to the left. When the photogate comb was released, the times were recorded at the intervals when the comb teeth blocked the photogate sensor. For example, the time that corresponds to the 31st tooth would represent the position x=0 m, while the time corresponding to when the first tooth blocked the sensor represented a position of x= 0.12 m. Therefore, 61 times were recorded, and the times stopped just before the comb was to reverse its motion, or in other words, a half oscillation of the harmonic oscillator. This is an eye opening poem because of its truthful descriptions of the relationship between the inner feelings of people and how their outward appearances that they portray of themselves affect them in and out of the public realm. Unable to find it, the mirror sees her agitation and depression after seeing her true self within it. Swift s emergence into the literary world was spurned on by writing about politics and religion with his strong opinions and wit. Other famous works by Swift include A Tale of a Tub and The Battle of the Books based on the corruptions in religion and learning at the time. Swift s works in literature were often written to further a cause or reaction. The idea of the antagonising satirist is reiterated in a conversation between Pope and Swift, with Swift stating The chief end I propose in all my labours is to vex the world rather than divert it . Swift aims to educate readers on what is actually going on at the forefront of culture at the time through his works, with the embodiment of human downfall and vice being satirised through the characters of Gulliver s Travels. Swift began working on book by 1721, with the parts being written in sequence to begin with. Parts I and II were finished by late 1723 with Part IV being completed by January 1724. This lead to Part III being finished and the entire works being under revision in early 1725. Swift sent the manuscript to Benjamin Motte, a bookseller at that time.
