People Who Do Crazy Things Are Not Necessarily Crazy Essay
"People who do Crazy Things are not Necessarily Crazy" Every human being faces at least one
affliction in his or her life that leads him or her to behave in an unusual manner. While some people
obtain support from others and learn how to handle situations correctly, others fight their battles
alone and find themselves committing unthinkable acts. One taking a dispositional view would
allegedly reach the conclusion that those who perform these unthinkable acts must suffer from
insanity. With an opposing outlook, social psychologists observe how certain individuals react to
difficult circumstances and determine why particular escapades occur as a result of distinct settings.
They understand that "occasionally, these natural situations ... Show more content on

Results proved that his brain function and hormone levels were normal and had nothing to do with
his sadistic behavior. A person suffering from psychosis often loses contact with reality and contains
no control of his or her actions in painstaking moments. Smith confessed that he influenced naïve
Derrick to follow him into the woods in order to kill him in private. He knew exactly what he was
doing and entirely understood the implications of his behavior. Furthermore, throughout the initial
trial, he did not once apologize for killing an innocent child. Even after the crime was over with,
Smith felt little remorse. It was not until the succeeding trial over a decade later that he
acknowledged his wrongdoing and asked for forgiveness. Finally, he attempted to clearly answer the
question that everyone had been waiting for a response to: "why did he do it?" Smith avows that he
now has morals, something that he did not previously have. He asserts that no matter how minuscule
an abuse situation, it all combines together to create a much larger issue for the one being bullied.
Eventually, the individual will not be able to endure anymore pain and could potentially be driven to
kill. Bullying can lead to a victim craving revenge and taking out anger on someone seen as less
significant. Smith himself explains this behavior in his testimony by alleging that: "it is not because
they're evil or satanic little kids; it's because they want the abuse

Ballistic Fingerprinting In The Criminal Justice System
We live in a society where large parts of crimes such as; rape, assault, and burglary involve gun
violence. One of the newest controversy surrounding the topic of gun control is the procedure
known as "ballistic fingerprinting." The impact of ballistic advancement has played a critical role in
unraveling new levels of solving crimes in the criminal justice system. Ballistic fingerprinting
specifies to a set strategy that depends exclusively on the imprints that a firearm leaves on a bullet to
match it to the gun used to commit the crime. Ballistic fingerprinting requires gun manufacturers to
test–fire the firearms they produce and store pictures of the ballistic markings left on the cartridge

area leaving ten individuals dead and three wounded over a period of 23 days. A major break from
the situation came out of the blue from the sniper themselves. On October 17, 2002 a mysterious
caller ensuring to be the sniper boasted that he was responsible for the murder of two women during
the robbery of a liquor store in Montgomery, Alabama, following a month. Examiners soon found
that a crime like the one depicted in the call had for sure occurred and the fingerprints and ballistic
evidence were available from the case. A magazine dropped at the crime scene confirmed the
fingerprints of Lee Boyd Malvo from previous arrest in Washington State. Shortly after the arrest
record gave another major lead, saying the name John Allen Muhammed. On October 22 they
searched for the criminal record database and found that Muhammad had registered a blue Chevy
Caprice with the license plate of NDA–21Z in New Jersey (The Beltway Snipers, Pt. 1.). That
depiction was given to the news media and shared which prompted to the catch of the two snipers.
The case reached an end when John Allen Muhammed and Lee Boyd Malvo were found sleeping in
their vehicle. Records uncovered that Muhammad was in possession of a Bushmaster .223 rifle.
Ballistic testing was done on the weapon found in the vehicle and this specific weapon was
connected to eleven of the fourteen shootings that occurred. Both Malvo and Muhammad were

Essay on Video Game Violence And Its Effects On Society
In today's world, video games have come along way since the birth of game consoles, with such
games as Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and Frogger. Not only have the graphics done a complete turn but
the violence has also on video games. There have been many people discussing on the topic of video
games that have violence and the effect it has on kids. It brings out more aggression on kids that
play those types of games than those who does not. Video games are considered harmful to society.

About.com states that one of the most arguable and a violent game in history is the Grand Theft

Sutherland Springs Massacre
On November 5, the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Devin Patrick Kelley shot at
the church. The shooting killed at least 26 people, with many more wounded.
Kelley fired from the outside and hit two people. He then travelled around to the side and entered,
still shooting. He was wearing black tactical gear, a ballistic vest and extra rounds of ammunition.
The shooter was armed with a rifle.
As he left the church, an armed neighbor returned fire. Consequently, Kelley was hit, causing slight
injury. The neighbor proceeded to shoot after Kelley as he jumped in his car and speedily drove
away. The police chased him until he crashed his vehicle, and was found dead in his vehicle with a

Abstract
According to the FBI (2007) the Beltway Snipers was a series of random murders that had occurred
around the Washington D.C. area during the month of October in 2002. The case was closely studied
and investigated by the Montgomery County Police Department and was led by Chief Charles
Moose with additional help from other government services such as the FBI. The identities of these
two men were discovered due to clues that were purposely left behind by the perpetrators. Their
names were John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo. During this time in history, these two
names were known to strike fear in people's hearts and make people think twice about going outside
and continuing their regular day–to–day activities. In the end, both of Malvo and Muhammad were
charged with life in prison, but Muhammad was also charged with the death penalty. Today, only
Malvo is still alive and now realizes the wickedness of the crimes he committed. This paper is not
only going to introduce you to the Beltway Snipers, but also help you become more aware of the
reasons as to why they did this, all of the victims that were involved, and the significance of this
case as a whole.

The Death Penalty Is A Capital Punishment
What is the death penalty? The death penalty is a capital punishment that is punishable by death or
execution. This is usually given to people that have committed serious offences or capital crimes.
There are 31 states in the United States that are for the death penalty. Crimes that are punishable by
the death penalty, vary from state to state. Examples of such crimes are; first degree murder or
premeditated murder, murder with special circumstances, such as: intended, multiple, and murder
which involves another crime, rape with additional bodily harm, and the federal crime of treason.
The first known civilization to use some type of death penalty, were the Babylonian's. The
Babylonians developed a law called The Code of Hammurabi around the 1700's BC, which
consisted of twenty–five crimes, that were punishable by death. These crimes included adultery and
helping slaves escape. This code was to become the stepping stones of laws of many civilizations to
come. In the Tenth Century A.D., hanging became the usual method of execution in Britain. In the
following next century, William the Conqueror, king of England would not allow people to be
executed for any crime, except in times of war. This did not last, for in the Sixteenth Century, under
the reign of Henry VIII, as many as 72,000 people are estimated to have been executed, by boiling,
burning at the stake, hanging, and beheading. Capital punishment has had a long history in the
United States. Before

Wiregrass Technical College
Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to examine the lives of Lee Boyd Malvo and John Allen
Muhammad. They are known as the D.C. Snipers who initiated a killing spree that lasted over 20
days and resulted in 10 deaths and 3 injuries. This paper gives insight into the manipulation and
control of John Allen Muhammad over Lee Boyd Malvo who was child during this reign of terror.
Information is given to aid in understanding the contributing factors that led to innocent lives taken
from society, the loss innocence of a minor, and the molding and shaping of a cold blooded killer.
D.C. Snipers Children are the most precious human beings on the Earth. They represent such a pure
and innocence of mankind. They are to be loved, nurtured, molded, and trained by their parents to be
law abiding citizens and good moral and responsible adults. However, what happens when this does
not happen? When innocence is turned into evil, what is the result? When children are not exposed
to model parents and influenced by others who do not have their best interest in mind, society gains
troubled children who have the potential to become dangerous and unstable. This is the case of the
making of Lee Boyd Malvo: The D.C. Sniper. Lee Boyd Malvo was a child in 2002 when terror
struck and our nation was in fear (Albarus, 2012). Lee was manipulated and brainwashed by an
adult figure in his life named John Allen

A Research Project On Gun Violence
Need for the Project
There is a need for this research project because gun violence has become a very prevalent issue
within the past decade. Its frequency has resulted in the formation of many myths, questions, and
connections with mental health disorders. This country is searching for answers and this research
will be designed to uncover the secret truths of gun violence and mass murders. By performing
studies and revealing their results, it is the purposes of the project to help authorities better
understand the conditions that enable this violence and therefore illustrate the areas in need of
improvement.
So how do we prevent people being killed by guns? The national conversation often focuses the
blame on mental illness but what do we actually know about the connections between mental illness,
mass shootings and gun violence overall? Wintemute, Emergency Care Physician and Professor at

Data Collection for the UCR, NIBRS, and NCVS
The Uniform Crime Reports collects reported crime data from the states' law enforcement agencies
on Part I offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated
assault, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, arson, and local law enforcement agencies are also
required to provide additional details about a crime when it appears to be motivated by hate. Law
enforcement agencies are required to report only the most serious offense in a crime that involves
multiple offenses.
The National Incident–Based Reporting System was begun as a collaboration between the
Department of Justice Bureau of Crime Statistics and the FBI as an enhancement to the Uniform
Crime Reports' Crime Index. It collects data from local law enforcement agencies nationwide on
both incidents and arrests on 46 specific crimes in 22 offense categories.
The National Crime Victimization Survey collects data through victim surveys. The collected data
differs from the data collected by the UCR and NIBRS, as it includes both reported and unreported
crimes, counts each offense separately in crimes with multiple offenses, and includes details about
the crime, victim, and the victimizations as a result of the crime. The data collected differs from the
data collected by the UCR in that it does not collect data on homicides, kidnappings, victimless

Beltway Sniper Murders
The beltway sniper was a shooting spree that occurred in different areas throughout Washington DC,
the Metropolitan area, and Virginia, in October, 2002. It was a two men rampage committed by John
Allen Muhammad, who was the leader of the attacks, and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo. An
interesting fact is that Malvo was only 17 years old when he participated in the three week reign of
terror. They did not have a specific objective because random civilians were shot and killed during
three weeks. There was a total of ten deaths, and three more critically wounded. They were also
connected with seven more deaths and three people injured in previous crimes. First, their main goal
was to take down Muhammad's ex–wife. By killing people at random, the ex–wife's murder would
look like just another tragic death in the sniper's killing list. Fortunately, for the ex–wife,
Muhammed was unable to reach his goal and she was not killed or injured by him.

Theories Of The Beltway Sniper
Abstract
This paper will try to explore two theories of the beltway sniper. The first is the conflict theory and
the second is the psychological theory. There will be summarizing of the crime (dates, offenders,
how they were caught if they were). The two theories will try to explore the crime. Each of the
theory will shed light on the reasons for the crime. For this paper, I will provide evidence to which
theory seems to be stronger. I will also show any evidence that will lead to the deviant path that was
taken. I will be explaining how you determine the path that was taken for the crime. I hope that after
reading this the audience will have a better understanding of the conflict and psychological theory of
the beltway DC sniper.

Animal Cruelty Persuasive Speech
Did you know that under the Criminal Code of Canada under Section 445.1(1) any person who
willfully causes or as owner permits unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal is held
accountable. You should listen to my speech because it will explain to you why you should stand up
against animal cruelty. I will try to persuade you with logic and you can make up your mind after
listening. I believe we should side against animal cruelty because animals suffer serious bodily harm
from the abuse, animals cannot defend themselves and people who commit animal cruelty usually
commit acts of violence against humans. We should stop this so we can stop people from accepting
and ignoring these atrocities as part of our culture.

30% of children who see violence of the domestic kind display violence against the pets that they
own. This statistic shows that if children are willing to attack animals than they are clearly
physically superior to the animals that are abused. These animals cannot defend themselves like
paralyzed people cannot defend themselves against able humans. It is a true cruelty and you should
stand against it.
Third, abuse to animals is linked to criminal activities. Robert K Ressler, who has developed many
profiles for serial killers for the FBI said, "Murderers ... very often start out by killing and torturing
animals as kids," (Ressler, Animal Abuse and Human Abuse: Partners in Crime). This is true as a lot
of serial killers' experiment on their animals first. For example, Albert deSalvo, also known as the
Boston strangler, killed 13 women. When he was a child he used to shoot dogs and cats which he
had trapped with arrows. A serial killer named Jeffrey Dahmer used to impale cats, dogs and frogs'
heads onto sticks. Dennis Rader, the BTK killer from Kansas, was found to have hanged a cat as
well as a dog during his youth. Lee Boyd Malvo, a teenager who shot 10 people through the use of a
rifle, was suspected of killing many cats with a slingshot at the age of

Summary : ' The Beltway Sniper Press Releases ' Essay
The Beltway Sniper Press Releases
Beginning in October of 2002, the Nation is gripped in fear as people are randomly shot by a sniper
or snipers in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. The shootings occurred in mall parking lots,
near schools and gas stations, no one felt safe. People were staying indoors, walking in zig–zag
patterns outdoors and filling their gas tanks from inside their vehicles. Two men, who are later
identified as John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo , drove around in a 1990 Chevrolet
Caprice, with a New Jersey license plate shooting people out of the trunk of their car. The car had a
hole cut above the rear license plate and the back support cushion and metal support of the rear seat
removed to allow the car to be used as a "rolling sniper's nest" . It gave the shooters access to the
trunk without getting out of the car. In total ten people were killed and three wounded in a span of
three weeks. What effect did press releases and press conferences have on the capturing of the
suspects?
Daily press releases and press conferences, broadcast nationally, began almost immediately with
some days having multiple. These briefings were conducted by Chief of Police, Charles Moose of
Maryland's Montgomery County. Chief Moose requested the assistance of the FBI through a federal
law on serial killings. The FBI's behavior analysts created a profile of the suspect or suspects. They

Serial Killers
Dennis Nilson stated "a mind can be evil without being abnormal". If this is the case, then what
makes a serial killer tick? The definition of a serial killer is; a series of two or more murders
committed as separate events usually, but not always, by one offender standing alone. (Brookes,
1988) Over the years, many murderers have been given this term. From the early days of Jack the
Ripper, to the most recently publicized case of "the sniper", all have different motives and reasons to
the crimes that they commit. Most of the serial killers suffer from mental illness/addictions or have
had traumatic life experiences. This is not always the case though; some can also be racially
motivated. The typical serial killer is a lower to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malvo was sentenced to many life sentences without parole, and Muhammad was sentenced to the

Forensic Science
Forensic and DNA casework has been a major player in catching these cold blooded killers. Since
most investigators have to work from clues, they rely on these sources to lead them in the right
direction. Many findings such as, blood, weapons, hair, or any source of DNA can help put the
puzzle pieces of these cases together. This has solved many cases, and is a strong piece of evidence
in the judicial system.

looked into the robbery, part of the evidence Alabama's police force had found were a set of
fingerprints from a magazine. Further investigation proved these prints belongs to Malvo, who was
already on file. Since Malvo lived with Muhammad for a year in Washington, they were both linked
together. After police knew about Muhammad, they discovered he purchased an old police car in
New Jersey. After announcing to the public the type of vehicle to search for, it led to the capture of
the two killers.

John Allen Muhammad, along with his partner Lee Boyd Malvo, carried out a series of murders in
the Metropolitan D.C. area in October of 2002. Armed with a high powered sniper rifle, Muhammad
and his underage accomplice murdered 10 people and wounded three others over the course of 20
days. Muhammad and Malvo targeted civilians going about their everyday lives in a series of
seemingly random attacks. This included people filling their car up with gas, exiting gas stations,
and mowing the lawn. With no clear and apparent reason for these murders, Muhammed and Malvo
caused panic throughout the country and shut down the D.C. area as authorities tried to identify and
capture the suspects. John Allen Muhammad's early life, military history, marital issues, and
personality traits give insight as to why he would commit such violent crimes.
The D.C. Sniper attacks began on October 2nd, 2002. The attacks were categorizes by the fact that
the killings occurred in the metropolitan D.C. area. The victims were randomly selected and were of
different genders, ages, and race. These serial murders were highly publicised with constant news
coverage of the hunt for the killers. Events were cancelled out of fear, and people even hid as they
pumped gas. "Ordinary people doing ordinary things were transformed into targets, the suburbs into
a shooting range. Seven people fell during the first three days of the sniper 's attack. "Killed while

Social Process Theory: Cyraus Foldger's View Of Crime
Do you ever wonder why some people become criminals? Is it a genetic compound that we are born
with, or is it a casual effect of the surroundings we are raised in and the people we are raised by? It's
a complicated question with no absolute answer. Cyraus Foldger once said, "We are all capable of
becoming something monstrous." Foldger's statement couldn't be more accurate, human beings are
shaped by their surroundings and relationships and because of this, we all have the ability to become
criminals. There is a view of crime called the social process theory which is the view that
criminality is a function of people's interactions with various organizations, institutions, and
processes in society. Social process theory consists of three independent ... Show more content on

A few commonly used labels such as "criminal", "ex–con", and "junkie" tend to isolate people from
society and lock them into lives of crime. In some instances, there are kids whose parents are in jail
and because of that, the kids at school label them as a "future criminal" by saying, " You're going to
grow up to be just like your dad". It is situations like that that put ideas into these kids minds and
they just grow up living up to those kids expectation. Sometimes, even a child's parent label them as
a criminal because a member of their family is in jail or they tend to misbehave and are disobedient
in the household. It is situations like these that shape that child into the person they will become and
more times than not, they do end up becoming criminals. Eventually, people just accept the labels
given to them and ultimately, their personality is built around these labels. It is for this reason that
convicted criminals that serve time then are released tend to commit a crime again ultimately
sending them back to prison. For example, let's say that little Timmy's father was sent to prison
when he was 2 years old, robbing little Timmy of a father figure. The kids at school pick on him for
being such a "momma's boy" and said he

The Importance Of Justice In The United States
The United States of America is a powerful nation built upon laws and justice; however, without
these laws, the nation would fall apart and chaos would result. For example, it is crucial for citizens
to respect the court's decisions in public trials. Unfortunately, no system is flawless and some guilty
people are sent free; however, the guilt those people feel is justice itself. Although some people may
argue immoral people do not feel guilt, society's reception of these immoral people serves as justice.
Therefore, citizens of the United States of America should not have the right to take justice into their
own hands. First, taking justice into one's own hands causes distrust and chaos among the general
public. For example, Christie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Vera Claythorn (a fictitious character) inquired, "'Weren't you sorry? Didn't you blame
yourself?' Emily Brent say on the summit of Indian Island, encased in her own armour of virtue. The
elderly spinster was no longer slightly ridiculous to Vera. Suddenly – she was terrible'" (101). This
demonstrates Emily Brent, a fictional woman who feels no guilt, is punished by how Vera treats her
as Vera understands Miss Brent has no human compassion. In addition, people like Vera will cease
to trust the immoral person; what is more, they will try to sever ties with the immoral person. In
conclusion, the argument people who do not feel guilt receive no punishment is not valid because
society's reception of this person is punishment enough. Countless innocent people have been
slaughtered by citizens trying to take justice into their own hands. Moreover, justice takes care of
itself – sometimes in the form of guilt, society's reception, or other psychological punishments.
These people do not deserve to be further punished as that will result in cruel and unusual
punishment. Therefore, people should not take justice into their own

Summary Of 357 Magnum Handgun
On December 24th, 2007 Joseph McEnroe and Michele Kristen, both 29, murdered six people with
a .357 caliber magnum handgun. They shot and killed her parents, brother and his wife and their two
children. The motive is believed to be money, her parents had requested they start paying rent on the
trailer home they were living in (Green, 2014). When Joseph pulled the trigger of the .357 caliber
magnum handgun he had set off a chain reaction. When he pulled the trigger it caused the firing pin
to strike the primer cap that is on the base of the cartridge. The compound in the primer cap reacted
and it ignited the gunpowder that was contained in the body of the cartridge. When the gunpowder
ignited a high pressure reaction occurred, this propelled

Dr Milgram 's Experiment On Obedience And Authority Figures
Pioneering Psychologist Stanley Milgram once said, "Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and
without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process."
Obedience is like a narcotic; under its influence, even a strong willed person can do horrible things
to others without a second thought. The only way a member of society submitting to powerful
authority can escape being obedient is to live completely isolated. Subjects usually follow the orders
given by a leader without a second thought, with many going the extra mile despite the mental and
physical harm they could cause others. In order to satisfy an authority figure, people are willing to
hurt mentally, abuse physically, or even murder others in cold blood because humans are born with
the urge to comply an authoritarian figure.
This behavior is well represented and tested in Professor Stanley Milgram's experiment on
obedience to authority figures conducted in 1961 to 1963 at Yale University. In this experiment
Milgram got several participants to be teachers and students. Then made the teachers to ask the
students questions, and shock the students every time they got an answer wrong. The shocks given
to the the students got stronger for each answer, and the maximum shock at 450 volts was deadly.
The students were actually just actors who acted as if they were getting shocks, but actually they did
not get any shock. This experiment was conducted to see how far the teachers were

Analysis Of Macarena Hernandez 's Story About Juanita...
It was found that Blair committed plagiarism as well as fabrication virtually throughout most of his
work at the Times. Macarena Hernandez wrote a story about Juanita Anguiano "a Texas woman
whose enlisted son was the only American soldier still missing in action in Iraq" (101). Blair also
wrote about the subject eight days later after Hernandez's article was published, and his Los
Fresnos's story contained similar descriptions and several chunks that were completely similar to
Hernandez's story. Hernandez confirmed that Blair had copied her story, after Blair mistakenly
thought that the subject of the interview did not speak English: "maybe the quotes were so similar
because he got the daughter to translate and she probably just said the same thing. At that moment, I
knew [said Hernandez]. Juanita Anguiano speaks English" (105). The lack of time that exists in a
newsroom is one of the main factors why mistakes occur, even in the most prestigious newspapers,
mistakes happen. Although, "Globe reporters had warned their friends at the Times to be careful
around Blair" (113), he just was not in anyone's radar. Not being in anyone's radar may be one of the
causes why the paper published Blair's Fresnos's story without much scrutinize. Often times, editors
deposit their trust on their writers, however, it is necessary to check for any signs for plagiarism or
fabrication because history has proven that the people who seem the most reliable doing their job,

The Department Of Homeland Security
On September 11, 2001, there were 2,996 casualties and more than 6,000 others were injured in the
terroristic attacks of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Some may say that these acts of
terrorism changed the American homeland security for the better, others disagree. Since the events
of September 11, 2001, the Department of Homeland Security was created and expanded into one of
the largest divisions of the federal government. This paper consists of the lack of homeland security

How Do Video Games Affect Society
The Violence of Video Games and the Effect It Have On Society

people discussing on the topic of video games that have violence and the effect it has on kids. It

Now the question you may ask yourself does this link between video games and violence hold up?
With that said you must think about the millions who played these games every day. Why are there
not more crimes like this if video games have something to do with violence? Pathological acts of
course have multiple complex causes and are hard to predict. (http://www.slate.com/id/2164065/)
One of the most grueling and violence game in history is the Grand Theft Auto series. This may be
one of the best games to discuss when you are fighting your case on the violence of video games.
The series which started back in 1997 focus on many different protagonists who attempt to rise
through the ranks of the criminal underworld, although their motives for doing so vary in each
game. The game play consists of a mixture of action adventure, driving, and occasional role playing,
stealth, and racing have gain controversy for it is adult nature. Although the game is rated M for
mature you know that young children are still playing the popular game. The limitation of violence
is endless from robbing people, stealing cars, and walking up to someone and shooting them point
blank and this game has many reasons to argue against it.

Terrorism : The United States
Terrorism is something that has affected the lives of the American population in the United States at
least once in their lifetimes. It is something that Americans have read about in history books and
have seen on national television. The United States defines terrorism under Title 22 of the U.S. Code
(USC) Section 2656f (d) as a, "premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against
noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an
audience." The U.S. Code breaks terrorism down into two subsections under 18 USC 2331 as
"international terrorism" and "domestic terrorism". International terrorism is defined as:
"Involves violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal and state law; appear to be
intended to (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population, (ii) to influence the policy of a government
by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction,
assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.; or
transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the persons
they appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the locale in which their perpetrators operate or seek
asylum," 18 USC 2331 (2014).
Domestic Terrorism is defined as:
"Involves acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States
or of any State; appear to be intended – (i) to

Capital Punishment And Life Effects On Society And The...
The killings of numerous people by one single offender is unfortunately a phenomenon society is
forced to face with, and the punishment of these offenders can cause great debate among society and
the justice system. The criminal justice field is heavily influenced by these rare offenders because
there is no concrete course of action that is taken in these cases. The most frequent consequences
used for these offenders includes the offender being given a capital punishment charge, or given a
life imprisonment charge. Both capital punishment and life imprisonment have their own set of
advantages and disadvantages. When speaking of multiple murderers, there are 3 different forms in
which one may be speaking of. These can consist of mass murderers, spree murderers, and serial
murderers. Many different components come into play when forming a multiple murderer. A
person's biological and psychological factors, along with a person's environment and life
experiences can potentially create the configuration of a multiple murderer. For example, a person
who is born into a cycle of violence in which they are abused as children, may actually grow up to
exhibit similar abusive patterns as well and contribute to the presence of antisocial personality
disorder developing (Siegel 2015). This can have dramatic influence over the course of the person's
life, and how the person chooses to express themselves. Offenders also may have very different
motives from one another for committing these

Essay on Juvenile Deliquency
Edwin H. Sutherland's formulation of differential association theory proposed that delinquency, like
any other form of behavior, is a product of social interaction. On October 14th, 2002, 17 year old
Lee Boyd Malvo was charged by the state of Virginia for two capital crimes: the murder of FBI
analyst Linda Franklin "in the commission of an act of terrorism" and the murder of more than one
person in a three–year period. Sutherland's nine propositions of differential association best explains
Malvo's act for the following reasons: (1) Malvo learned how to commit each heinous crime through
his social interaction within his intimate group, (2) Malvo learned the techniques to commit each
crime through his mentor, i.e. learning the skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edwin H. Sutherland's propositions of differential association argues criminal behavior, like any
other behavior, is learned from others. That is, "delinquent behavior is not an inherited trait but
rather an acquired one" (Juvenile Delinquency, p.153). Sutherland claims that criminal behavior/
juvenile delinquency is learned through a youth's relationship within intimate personal groups.
These intimate groups are far more influential for adolescents than any other form of
communication such as the media. In the case of Lee Boyd Malvo, he had a personal relationship
with Muhammad, Malvo's mother ex–boyfriend. After Malvo's biological father left his mother, she
often left Malvo unattended and in the care of friends. Malvo's mother eventually abandoned him
again which he then went to live with Muhammad, a gulf war veteran, who had became his father
figure, friend and mentor. Malvo's longing for a father was replaced by Muhammad and the duration
of his time outside of school was with Muhammad. Malvo had only been living in the United States
for a year after migrating from Jamaica, before he moved in with Muhammad. One can assume that
Malvo became attached to Muhammad because he lacked a father figure as well as companionship
in a new country where he felt alienated from family and friends in Jamaica. Muhammad later
converted Malvo to Islam.
If the principal learning of criminal behavior occurs within intimate personal groups, differential

How proud we must all be to live in an era of unbiased judgment and true equality amongst all. In a
time so prosperous and friendly as now, it's all we can do to not scoff at decades past for all the
bigotry and prejudice existing back in those days of such ancient history. To think of a time when
ethnic groups were discriminated against, or poorly represented would mean to be thinking of years
before the mid/late 1900s, before the struggle for fair judgment was fought for and won. Or has
equality been won at all? After about a week of scanning newspapers and websites worldwide for

From Jonathan Pearl's "The Chosen Image", one Jewish man explains how the media inadequately

process of selective perception by which the complex character of experience is filtered and
simplified into fixed categories. It would take an absolute recluse, one blind to all media, to deny
that this kind of category fixation is no longer existent. If you're looking for an example of ethnic

Myths And Misconceptions Of Serial Killers
The term serial killers has never really been defined until roughly 1998 when congress passes a
Children Protection act from Sexual Predator Act of 1998. This Act defined serial killers as a series
of at least three or more killings. However because of the definition of serial killers, they often get
confused between serial killers and a spree murder. The Difference is that spree murderers often get
killed or seriously killed, however spree murderers have also killed themselves. Although serial
killers are extremely rare event that is estimated to constitute for less than 1% of all murders
committed. Serial killers mostly kill over a time period killing more than three victims, however
many serial killers often get arrest or never get caught.

People Who Do Crazy Things Are Not Necessarily Crazy Essay

  • 1. People Who Do Crazy Things Are Not Necessarily Crazy Essay "People who do Crazy Things are not Necessarily Crazy" Every human being faces at least one affliction in his or her life that leads him or her to behave in an unusual manner. While some people obtain support from others and learn how to handle situations correctly, others fight their battles alone and find themselves committing unthinkable acts. One taking a dispositional view would allegedly reach the conclusion that those who perform these unthinkable acts must suffer from insanity. With an opposing outlook, social psychologists observe how certain individuals react to difficult circumstances and determine why particular escapades occur as a result of distinct settings. They understand that "occasionally, these natural situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results proved that his brain function and hormone levels were normal and had nothing to do with his sadistic behavior. A person suffering from psychosis often loses contact with reality and contains no control of his or her actions in painstaking moments. Smith confessed that he influenced naïve Derrick to follow him into the woods in order to kill him in private. He knew exactly what he was doing and entirely understood the implications of his behavior. Furthermore, throughout the initial trial, he did not once apologize for killing an innocent child. Even after the crime was over with, Smith felt little remorse. It was not until the succeeding trial over a decade later that he acknowledged his wrongdoing and asked for forgiveness. Finally, he attempted to clearly answer the question that everyone had been waiting for a response to: "why did he do it?" Smith avows that he now has morals, something that he did not previously have. He asserts that no matter how minuscule an abuse situation, it all combines together to create a much larger issue for the one being bullied. Eventually, the individual will not be able to endure anymore pain and could potentially be driven to kill. Bullying can lead to a victim craving revenge and taking out anger on someone seen as less significant. Smith himself explains this behavior in his testimony by alleging that: "it is not because they're evil or satanic little kids; it's because they want the abuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Beltway Sniper Murders The beltway sniper was a shooting spree that occurred in different areas throughout Washington DC, the Metropolitan area, and Virginia, in October, 2002. It was a two men rampage committed by John Allen Muhammad, who was the leader of the attacks, and his accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo. An interesting fact is that Malvo was only 17 years old when he participated in the three week reign of terror. They did not have a specific objective because random civilians were shot and killed during three weeks. There was a total of ten deaths, and three more critically wounded. They were also connected with seven more deaths and three people injured in previous crimes. First, their main goal was to take down Muhammad's ex–wife. By killing people at random, the ex–wife's murder would look like just another tragic death in the sniper's killing list. Fortunately, for the ex–wife, Muhammed was unable to reach his goal and she was not killed or injured by him. Their base of operations was a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan. The car was used as a rolling sniper's nest. It was the perfect component for their evil and horrific plan because it was an effective getaway. They prepared ... • 43. Social Process Theory: Cyraus Foldger's View Of Crime Do you ever wonder why some people become criminals? Is it a genetic compound that we are born with, or is it a casual effect of the surroundings we are raised in and the people we are raised by? It's a complicated question with no absolute answer. Cyraus Foldger once said, "We are all capable of becoming something monstrous." Foldger's statement couldn't be more accurate, human beings are shaped by their surroundings and relationships and because of this, we all have the ability to become criminals. There is a view of crime called the social process theory which is the view that criminality is a function of people's interactions with various organizations, institutions, and processes in society. Social process theory consists of three independent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A few commonly used labels such as "criminal", "ex–con", and "junkie" tend to isolate people from society and lock them into lives of crime. In some instances, there are kids whose parents are in jail and because of that, the kids at school label them as a "future criminal" by saying, " You're going to grow up to be just like your dad". It is situations like that that put ideas into these kids minds and they just grow up living up to those kids expectation. Sometimes, even a child's parent label them as a criminal because a member of their family is in jail or they tend to misbehave and are disobedient in the household. It is situations like these that shape that child into the person they will become and more times than not, they do end up becoming criminals. Eventually, people just accept the labels given to them and ultimately, their personality is built around these labels. It is for this reason that convicted criminals that serve time then are released tend to commit a crime again ultimately sending them back to prison. The Importance Of Justice In The United States The United States of America is a powerful nation built upon laws and justice; however, without these laws, the nation would fall apart and chaos would result. For example, it is crucial for citizens to respect the court's decisions in public trials. Unfortunately, no system is flawless and some guilty people are sent free; however, the guilt those people feel is justice itself. Although some people may argue immoral people do not feel guilt, society's reception of these immoral people serves as justice. Therefore, citizens of the United States of America should not have the right to take justice into their own hands. First, taking justice into one's own hands causes distrust and chaos among the general public. For example, Christie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 49. Dr Milgram 's Experiment On Obedience And Authority Figures Pioneering Psychologist Stanley Milgram once said, "Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process." Obedience is like a narcotic; under its influence, even a strong willed person can do horrible things to others without a second thought. The only way a member of society submitting to powerful authority can escape being obedient is to live completely isolated. Subjects usually follow the orders given by a leader without a second thought, with many going the extra mile despite the mental and physical harm they could cause others. In order to satisfy an authority figure, people are willing to hurt mentally, abuse physically, or even murder others in cold blood because humans are born with the urge to comply an authoritarian figure. This behavior is well represented and tested in Professor Stanley Milgram's experiment on obedience to authority figures conducted in 1961 to 1963 at Yale University. In this experiment Milgram got several participants to be teachers and students. Then made the teachers to ask the students questions, and shock the students every time they got an answer wrong. The shocks given to the the students got stronger for each answer, and the maximum shock at 450 volts was deadly. Macarena Hernandez wrote a story about Juanita Anguiano "a Texas woman whose enlisted son was the only American soldier still missing in action in Iraq" (101). Blair also wrote about the subject eight days later after Hernandez's article was published, and his Los Fresnos's story contained similar descriptions and several chunks that were completely similar to Hernandez's story. Hernandez confirmed that Blair had copied her story, after Blair mistakenly thought that the subject of the interview did not speak English: "maybe the quotes were so similar because he got the daughter to translate and she probably just said the same thing. At that moment, I knew [said Hernandez]. Juanita Anguiano speaks English" (105). Although, "Globe reporters had warned their friends at the Times to be careful around Blair" (113), he just was not in anyone's radar. The killings of numerous people by one single offender is unfortunately a phenomenon society is forced to face with, and the punishment of these offenders can cause great debate among society and the justice system. The criminal justice field is heavily influenced by these rare offenders because there is no concrete course of action that is taken in these cases. The most frequent consequences used for these offenders includes the offender being given a capital punishment charge, or given a life imprisonment charge. Both capital punishment and life imprisonment have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. When speaking of multiple murderers, there are 3 different forms in which one may be speaking of. These can consist of mass murderers, spree murderers, and serial murderers. Many different components come into play when forming a multiple murderer. A person's biological and psychological factors, along with a person's environment and life experiences can potentially create the configuration of a multiple murderer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edwin H. Sutherland's propositions of differential association argues criminal behavior, like any other behavior, is learned from others. That is, "delinquent behavior is not an inherited trait but rather an acquired one" (Juvenile Delinquency, p.153). Sutherland claims that criminal behavior/ juvenile delinquency is learned through a youth's relationship within intimate personal groups. These intimate groups are far more influential for adolescents than any other form of communication such as the media. In the case of Lee Boyd Malvo, he had a personal relationship with Muhammad, Malvo's mother ex–boyfriend. After Malvo's biological father left his mother, she often left Malvo unattended and in the care of friends. Malvo's mother eventually abandoned him again which he then went to live with Muhammad, a gulf war veteran, who had became his father figure, friend and mentor. Malvo's longing for a father was replaced by Muhammad and the duration of his time outside of school was with Muhammad. Malvo had only been living in the United States for a year after migrating from Jamaica, before he moved in with Muhammad. One can assume that Malvo became attached to Muhammad because he lacked a father figure as well as companionship in a new country where he felt alienated from family and friends in Jamaica. Muhammad later converted Malvo to Islam. If the principal learning of criminal behavior occurs within intimate personal groups, differential association ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. The Chosen Image Essay How proud we must all be to live in an era of unbiased judgment and true equality amongst all. In a time so prosperous and friendly as now, it's all we can do to not scoff at decades past for all the bigotry and prejudice existing back in those days of such ancient history. To think of a time when ethnic groups were discriminated against, or poorly represented would mean to be thinking of years before the mid/late 1900s, before the struggle for fair judgment was fought for and won. Or has equality been won at all? After about a week of scanning newspapers and websites worldwide for important news created recently and in the past few years(though some pieces of news are old, their effects can be felt even today), it's disturbingly evident that ... From Jonathan Pearl's "The Chosen Image", one Jewish man explains how the media inadequately represents his religion, saying, Real life has its share of Jewish doctors and mothers; their absence on television would offer a false view and impoverish the TV landscape. Stereotyping is neatly explained in Therese Daniels and Jane Gerson's "The Colour Black", defining stereotyping as a process of selective perception by which the complex character of experience is filtered and simplified into fixed categories. It would take an absolute recluse, one blind to all media, to deny that this kind of category fixation is no longer existent. If you're looking for an example of ethnic bias, don't look back to the 1960s or 70s. Look at the newspapers of today and those of yesterday and tomorrow. While it may give the "White" a better sense of well being to think they live in equity, that well being is only a result of neglecting the problems that plague the ... Boyd was also charged twice with capital murder and the unlawful use of a firearm. Boyd pleaded not guilty on all charges because of insanity stating that he was under Muhammad's complete control according to Crime Museum.
