Genetic Modification Implications
Genetic Modification Implications Health of An Individual
Daisy the cow was born with a birth defect. She had no tail. The process of the genetic transfer is most
likely to be the cause of this. Stefan Wagner, a scientist on the team, said This congenital abnormality
is rare in cows and not something we have seen in animals we have cloned previously, However, they
are still in the process of confirming whether or not this defect is link to the genetic transferring
method. This deformity makes us question whether she has any other health issues. If she was born
without a tail, there is a chance she could have other deformities as well. This is not good news as it
any form of health problems could affect other parts of the cow.
Genetic Modification Implications Survival of a Population
As Daisy the cow was born with no tail, her offsprings could also have this problem. Not to mention
that there could be a possibility that future cloned cows will also have this defect. This congenital
abnormality can have a huge impact on the population because the purpose of cow tails is to ensure

Dolly was cloned via somatic cell nuclear transfer in 1996 by Roslin Institute in Scotland. Cloning
from an adult cell is much more complicated than cloning from an embryonic cell but Dolly was a
successful one in 277 trials. 29 early embryos developed and were inserted to 13 surrogate mothers,
however, only one was successful and that was Dolly.
A mammary gland was used, as it had all the DNA needed to reproduce a whole individual. Dolly had
3 mothers one provided the somatic cell, one provided the egg cell and one as the surrogate mother.
The nucleus of the somatic cell was inserted into an empty egg cell and then activated by an electric
shock. It was then put into the surrogate mother when it started to develop into a blastocyst.

Tim Good Leadership
Strategic Analysis
Lonnie Ivery American Public University
Introduction
When the leadership of Apple changed from the visionary leader and founder Steve Jobs to Tim Cook
many people viewed the transition with skepticism because of the big shoes that Tim was expected to
fit in. The competition was high especially in the smart phones and watches market where the rate of
innovation from the other competing companies is also high. The creativity of firms like Sam Sung
had threatened to wipe out the legacy of Apple as the leading producer of smart devices.
The Apple stocks had begun declining, and the sales volume for the Apple products had gone down in
the global market. It was the innovative and creative nature of the company that Tim ... Show more

Organizational Structure of Apple
Organizational structure is the most crucial element for the success of any business. This is because of
the way it facilitates and supports the management system of the organization. It is through the
structure that specialization and differentiation are attained. For effective management of the
employees, different firms employ different structures for the organization that is unique to its
operation and the organization culture.
The CEO is at the center of the structure, and he coordinates the activities of all the other functions to
ensure that the goals of the firm are reached. Its organizational structure majorly contributes the

Colossal Figure Of Akhenaten Essay
The Colossal Figure of Akhenaten was built during the Amarna Period, which was a period of change.
The ruler was Amenhotep IV who changed his name to Akhenaten around 1348 BC. Akhenaten
changed the religion from polytheism to monotheism and he moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes
to Akhetaten. He also changed the artwork of the time, which is clearly shown in the Colossal Statue
of Akhenaten. This statue was placed southeast of the Temple of Karnack where a temple for the
(new) one God, Aten, was built. The Statue is a depiction of Akhenaten. It is about 16 feet tall and
made of sandstone that has traces of polychromy within it.
The reason why the Amarna Period art is drastically different is because the pharaoh, Akhenaten, was

Akhenaten s statue has none of those qualities. It depicts the pharaoh as having a large stomach, not
flat abs, which is shown by the obvious natural, curved line that is just above the sash and is the most
prominent distortion. This is also an implied line that enunciates the imperfect body shape of the
statue. The protruding stomach also creates a natural shadow that further shows the distorted features.
Continuing downward on the statue to the sash there is also a natural, curved line that goes upward
towards the thin waistline. This shows a feminine quality that men should not have. On the clothing,
there is an implied overlapping with the pieces of cloth in the front shown by the layering effect. Also,
on the clothing there are implied lines that seem to curve around the statue. They all seem to be drawn
to an unseen focal point near the top of the sash, creating movement. This implies that the clothing is
wrinkled giving it a different texture then the rest of the statue which is smooth. It also emphasizes the
feminine curve to his body. This is also emphasized by the lines that are further apart on top and as the
body narrows, the lines get closer together like the fabric has to stretch more around the

John Wilkinson, born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 6,...
John Wilkinson, born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 6, 1821 was only 16 years old when he joined
the navy. He was a naval cadet in the US Navy. Wilkinson was not entirely close with his father, Jesse
Wilkinson. In fact, he actually grew up without him. He was not very talented when it came to his
studies. This is because this was before the Naval Academy was created. The Narrative of a Blockade
Runner is a personal narrative, meaning it will mostly include John Wilkinson s experiences. When
one reads this narrative, it will feel as if he is reading a journal entry. It was common for many to write
in journals in the 1800 s. Wilkinson was very straightforward and viewed war as a job. As the boys

Wilkinson closes his narrative by saying, Her officers and crew turned adrift with the wide world
before them where to choose (page 252). By that, he was saying things are going to change. The states
would have had to change the way they were controlling their societies. After the war, John Wilkinson
lived in Nova Scotia until he died in 1891. His purpose of the war was that he tried to get all the
supplies the Confederates needed through the Union s blockade. In all honesty, The Narrative of a
Blockade Runner was an extremely difficult book to engage oneself to read. The personality of John
Wilkinson in his narrative was rather bland, even though he was in a part of a major was in this county
s history. The only disagreement I have against Wilkinson is that he mentioned that he would look
back on his journal for humor. The outcome of the war was not humorous in any way for both sides,
especially in the south. On a grand scale, Wilkinson brought me into the war. He explained many of
the little tactics that gave them advantages. It was very descriptive with the procedures they had to do.
This narrative is not what I expected out of it. There was not much action. He hardly mentioned any of
the deaths. It was just a strategy game for him. Without much of a personality coming from him, there
was not much impact. There is just a different view on what happened in the war

Natural Born Killers And The Film Stars Woody Harrelson...
For my film project I chose, Natural Born Killers, (1994) the film stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette
Lewis as the notorious couple Mickey and Mallory Knox. The film follows Knox s on their cross
country murder spree that captivates the world as the media glorifies their crimes making them the
most infamous serial killers since Manson. Natural Born Killers starts out in a small diner in the
middle of the desert, Mickey is ordering pie and Mallory is dancing to a jukebox, a couple of locals

carnage the Knox s are causing, and the public loves it. Crowds scream their names and idolize them;
the Knox s have reached star status. The Knox s are finally caught after they get bit my rattlesnakes
and try to get the antidote after Mickey kills a Native American who shelters them. The two are
arrested after a shoot out and sent to federal penitentiary, where their fame, fueled by the media
continues to grow. The film reaches its climax as Mickey and Mallory are being held in the same
prison and their presence has put the entire prison on edge. The warden calls in the officer (Scagnetti)
who caught the infamous couple to transfer them to a insane asylum and kill them on the way. Media
personality Wayne Gale, talked himself into a one on one interview with Mickey the day before the
transfer is to happen and it is during this interview the prisoners watching start a riot, giving Mickey
the opportunity to escape and rescue Mallory to. With a surprising amount of help by Gale, who

Pozdnyshev s Self-Knowledge And The Limitations Of Narrative
Pozdnyshev wife s life altered after bearing children beginning to develop independent hobbies, such
as playing the piano, which sparks Pozdnyshev s jealousy. Before taking up her hobbies, she brings a
notion to her husband that in the world, the only thing worthy of attention [is] love (Tolstoy 42). She
feels that she lacks love in her marriage, which results her to devote herself passionately to the piano,
which had formerly stood forgotten in the corner (Tolstoy 42) to make up for lost love. Afterwards,
their arguments became more intense, and Pozdnyshev becomes polluted by jealousy (Tolstoy 42)
once his wife s attention is no longer on him, knowing that he is losing control of the mastery of the
gaze. According to Jeanette Bicknell, the author of the scholarly article Self Knowledge and the
Limitations of Narrative, she views Pozdnyshev s ignorance of his own emotional states and unhappy
marriage could stem from a lack of self knowledge (Bicknell 409). He expresses his fear of losing the
mastery of the gaze through anger, stemming not from unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality, but from
his frustration at his inability to control his own desire, and at his inability of controlling his wife s
body (Bicknell 409). By getting angry with her for taking up hobbies, he doesn t see her as a human
being, but an object that always needs to be managed by him through the mastery of the gaze. Without
being able to control her, he loses grasp of the gaze, which results in

Making A Proactive Change Management Decision
For a few years now, I have considered making a proactive change management decision of going
back to the academic arena of teaching continuing education classes in September for the fall
semester. In the past, I have taught evening continuing education classes to adult students, who were
enrolled in a medical billing certificate program. I miss teaching in the classroom, and I thoroughly
enjoy training students for the workforce. The courses I taught were technology geared toward
Microsoft Office software. Since I made the decision to no longer teach and return to the university to
complete my bachelor s degree, this transitional change is something that I have been considering.
However, there are internal and external forces that exist that may impact on extending my work
schedule, and I expect to encounter some resistance from family members supporting me in working
longer hours that may impact my final decision.
Personal Change The transitional change of returning to the classroom affords me the opportunity to
share my knowledge and experience teaching multiple Microsoft Office applications. According to
Petty and Thomas, (2004), Many adults are having to set their sights on obtaining sufficient skills to
be more marketable for employment (p. 473). Teaching students the techniques to successfully operate
Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint has been very
rewarding to me and is also something I perform in my daily

In 2000, without conscious awareness I made mistake number one. I built a dream home, an Italian
farm house villa, which I designed for $1,500,000 with an $800,000 mortgage and sold it for
$3,250,000. The reason for the large mortgage was to leverage my positions in the stock market,
which many others were trending to at that time.
The decision to build again was based on my success in making money in the stock market and a
distorted and unrealistic perspective, without conscious awareness, that I would continue making
money without my close advisors to say, not a good decisions.
Part of this mistake was driving up debt, which I never had by borrowing against stocks and later
would contribute to financial loss.

Personal Philosophy Of School Social Work
I am interested in school social work. My biggest goal is to work and help neglected children. When
volunteering at Bessemer Elementary I got to see a school social worker in action. Making sure the
children weren t being abused, making sure that a child had the necessary needs to grow, and be
successful in, and outside of school. This field has always interesting to me because when I was
younger I had a family social worker. She came to visit my brothers and I after my father passed when
it became hard for my mother to take care of all five of us. Every time she came she had a big smile
on her face, and she gave my mother hope that everything would be okay; which is what I want to
help someone else with.
A School Social Worker is someone that trained to help students, parents, and sometimes staff with
child needs. A school social worker focuses on providing a great outcome for the child, and the family
they are working with. A school social worker can help with mental health which is focusing on a

Federal Reserve Should Raise The Federal Funds Rate
The discussion of whether the Federal Reserve should raise the federal funds rate is a highly
contentious one. Members of the Federal Reserve ( Fed ) and academic economists disagree about
what constitutes appropriate future macroeconomic policy for the Unites States. In the past, the Fed
had been able to raise rates when the unemployment rate was under 5% and inflation was at a target of
2%. Enigmatically, since the Great Recession and despite a strengthening economy, year over year
total inflation since 2008 has averaged only 1.4% as measured by the Personal Consumption
Expenditures Price Index ( PCE ). Today, PCE inflation is at 1 1.5% and has continuously undershot
the Fed s inflation target of 2% three years in a row. (Evan 2015) In the six years since the bottom of
the Great Recession the U.S. economy has made great strides in lowering the published
unemployment rate from about 10% back down to about 5.5%. In light of this data, certain individuals
believe that the Federal Reserve should move to increase the federal funds rate in 2015 because
unemployment is near 5% and inflation should bounce back on its own (Derby 2015). However, this
recommendation is misguided.
Overview
The Federal Reserve should utilize a balanced approach to monetary policy. The current state of the
economy undershot employment and inflation goals presents no conflict in achieving a neutral state.

Essay About Buju Banton
Buju Banton, born Marc Anthony Myrie, is a popular reggae musician from Jamaica. Banton has
written many songs based on sociopolitical topics, some of which have received great criticism and
nearly ended his career. Untold Stories was released in the 1995 album Til Shiloh and it displayed
many topics which had been forgotten by dancehall audiences. The song related in great measure to
the popular issues in society such as poverty, crime, corruption of the government and the degradation
of the younger generation. Although it was written nearly two decades ago, this song is very
applicable to the modern society in the Caribbean as it relates to economic, political and social issues.

Banton sang about the corruption of the government and their disregard for the Caribbean people. This
is noticed when he says, While our leaders play. Through this line it can be observed that the
government had full control of the finances of the country which they used for their benefit. This
implies that the leaders of the Caribbean countries take no heed of the needs of their people but only
seek to enjoy the countries money. This statement is true throughout the contemporary Caribbean
society as many leaders neglect their duties as leaders and instead focus on their self needs. In
Jamaican dialect this is described through the term politricks since many politicians have mastered the
art of deception, resulting in them being able to convince the public that whatever they are doing is for
the best. The corruption of the government therefore, is not fully perceived by the public and this can
be interpreted from the line, The full has never been told. According to Hodges, The implication is
that, if the full ever were told, the tricksters would be exposed and the trick turned on them . This also
indicates just how well the leaders are capable of deceiving the public. Ergo it can be deduced that the
corruption of the public is a major issue still in the

Nociceptors Essay
Nociceptors are specialized peripheral sensory neurons that have protective role against damaging
stimuli at the skin. They detect extremes in temperature, pressure and harmful chemicals. However
persistent pain syndromes offer no biological advantage and cause suffering and distress. Pathological
pain caused by inflammation is perceived because of sensitization of peripheral and central
nociceptive neurons.
There is considerable evidence that the development and maintenance of persistent pain states after
injury result from longterm changes in nociceptive processing in the spinal cord, as well as from
increased activation of primary afferent nociceptors. For example, in the setting of prolonged
inflammation, spontaneous activity in dorsal horn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Spring 2015
Introduction
Advertising in general influences everyone in many ways, particularly children imperiled by
advertisements and its effects. (Raju Lonial, 1989) I think it is an important topic to protect the
children from advertising, specifically from tobacco advertising, because we all know that smoking is
not good for your health, might cause cancer and could lead on to death.
Statement of Purpose
I want to show some examples of tobacco advertising and discuss especially why the industry selected
children as a target group with a short history and giving some examples how they targeting children. I
also want to share the advertising regulations that were made all over the world to restrict tobacco
advertising in the countries particularly to children.
Influence of cigarette advertising had the strongest and most consistent effect on the initiation of
smoking
(Fischer et al., 1991)
History
Before World War I broke out, the majority of the militaries were smoking pipe. Pipes and cigars were
the most popular types of tobacco smoking at this time. It emphasized the image of masculinity in the
nineteenth century. (Johnson Johnson, 2014) This war initiated that cigarettes got more popular any
other type of smoking and soldiers and civilians had the opinion that cigarettes

In the Devil s Snare Book Report
Elliot, J.H., Imperial Spain: 1469 1716. London: Penguin Books, 1963. 423pgs. In Imperial Spain,
J.H. Elliot examines the history of early modern Spain from the reign of the Catholic Monarchs,
Isabella and Ferdinand, to the reformation of the Spanish government by the first member of the
Bourbon dynasty. According to the author, at the start of the 15th century, Spain was internally weak,
hopelessly divided and isolated from the continent by the Pyrenees. Yet, by 1492, Spanish society
experienced a tremendous transformation which allowed Isabella and Ferdinand to unify the country,
secure the largest transoceanic empire the world has ever known, and for a ... Show more content on

Aragon, the author states, was mostly left out of the affairs of empire and it turned its attention to its
Mediterranean possessions.
While it is true that Ferdinand interfered little with Isabella s handling of Castilian affairs, Elliot
asserts in Chapter Four ( The Imperial Destiny ) that certain key issues were handled jointly by the
monarchs. This was evident in the concessions that they were able to extract from the Vatican.
Patronato Real, or the right of presentation to all ecclesiastical benefices in the Kingdom of Granada
was granted to the sovereigns of Spain by Pope Innocent VIII while the Reconquista was still ongoing.
Eventually, the author goes on to say, this right would be extended to all Spanish domains. This gave
the rulers of Spain almost complete control of the Catholic Church in their territories and in time, the
clergy would become the most efficient of bureaucrats and administrators of the Spanish empire.
Chapter Five is entitled The Government and the Economy of the Reign of Charles V and in it Elliot
argues that after Ferdinand s death in 1516, his successor Charles I of Spain, V of the Holy Roman
Empire, inherited a thriving, pacified, quasi united kingdom that had access to the incredible wealth of
the Americas. The problem, the author suggests, was that Charles and his successors did not fully
understand the complexity of the Spanish system they inherited.

Quebec s Far Right Steps Out Of The Shadows
Québec s far right steps out of the shadows: How neo nationalist and alt right groups in the province
benefit from a global momentum
Populist movements are on the rise across the Western world. Donald Trump s victory in the U.S., the
Brexit vote in the U.K. and the surge of far right parties in many European countries all stand
testimony to this. Emboldened by this momentum, Québec s far right groups are growing their ranks.
And while they may be less established, they, too, want to make themselves heard. (1,760 words)
Sylvain Brouillette never planned on joining a nationalist movement. But the 52 year old, who goes by
the nom de guerre Maikan , says he had a wake up call when, in late 2015, Justin Trudeau was elected

The common theme among them is a firm rejection of established conservative parties as well as the
skepticism of globalization and its corollary immigration, which they believe threatens to erode the
Québécois way of life.
Right now, in places like Montreal, Quebecois culture is being drowned, says Remi Tremblay, the
media liaison for the Federation des Québécois de souche, whose anti immigration tirades are loud
and proud. The group was founded as a protest movement in the aftermath of Quebec s reasonable
accommodation crisis. Its concern is more with the very concept of immigration than with specific
groups. Peoples that are strangers to each other, and who have different values and traditions can t live
side by side indefinitely without there being frictions and problems, he says.
Many of these groups single out radical Islam as being the most vivid threat, one which they consider
to be closer at hand than mainstream society realizes.
We believe radical Islam has no place here. We can see what damage it does in Europe and we don t
want the same to happen here, says Daniel Boucher, president of the Alliance nationale réformiste du
Québec. Boucher thinks it s dangerous for Québécois society to dismiss this threat as marginal. Of
course it s not the majority, but still, it doesn t always take a majority. It s usually a minority that
causes the damage. You still have to be cautious, he adds.

Literature Can Be Taught In Literature, Allegory Of The Cave
Schools across the country are thinking about restructuring their curriculum to fulfill the needs of
workspace. For kids with different majors, I think that it is important for people to learn literature.
Literature cannot be taught in certain work areas because literature is not something that is needed.
Literature can show meaning, value, it can teach lessons, and it can teach how things in history that
has happened in a different point of view.
Things that have been taught like myths and Native American Stories can be taught as a lesson. For
example, Allegory of the Cave. It talks about these people that live in a dark cave, they see these
shadows and they assume that these shadows are real. This allegory teaches educational and

In my opinion, literature is valuable, especially about the things we learned about because learning
about tricksters and how they came to be, Native American myths and legends, as of me, I am Alaskan
Native. These connect with who I am, and who my ancestors were. Learning about these drew me
closer to my native culture, because I have never been told these kinds of stories. I have helped out my
dad s crew with whaling, doing all these games for Piuragaaqta, gone hunting. I think these are what
brings you closer to who you are and who you are to become. Literature, books, writing, these can all
bring you closer to family, but you can also learn from it. You can learn more about who you are just
by reading these short novels or long books. Literature has shown me more of who I am. Yes I have
been taught, but at the beginning of the year, I wouldn t have known a couple things because I wouldn
t have learned about them. Learning about literature in Alaska than in the lower 48 s can be different
because here in Alaska, you are taught about Alaskan Native myths, legends, and sometimes facts
about what happened because that has a bigger impact in Alaskan students than them learning about
the French and German people and how they live in their

My intense desire to travel this planet overwhelms me everyday. By travel I do not mean going to a
resort that cost $1000 a night in the Bahamas where one gets a fruit platter decorated in a shape of a
smiley face delivered to their door every morning (although that doesn t sound too bad). I am talking
about experiencing the real world, various environments with diverse cultures. How can I reach my
full potential without ever leaving the filtered bubble of New England? As of now I am colorblind; I
see the world in black and white. I am waiting for the day that I finally experience the explosion of
color that the world is. From La Tomatina, an annual tomato fight in Valencian, Spain to more
disturbing traditions like the Mourning of Muharram where Shia Muslims attach knives to whips and

I try to make the most out of all the advantages that I am so fortunate to have. The schooling system,
for example, is known to be one of the best in Massachusetts. I took the opportunity explore the large
selection of classes that my school has to offer. A class like Introduction to Medicine made me
nervous at first because I wasn t sure if I would be able to handle learning about gruesome diseases
and injuries. However, the class made me realize that I was very interested in how the human body
works and that maybe I would want to do something in this field in my future. This led me to take
more science courses like forensics and environmental science. I decided that I wanted to try a non
science related class to expand my learning so I chose to take a class called World Religions. This
class intensified my desire for travel immensely by exposing me to cultures and places I have never
heard of. I thought about how both of these classes revealed to me what I truly am passionate for,
travel and science. I want to go see the world but at the same time know how it all

Mbti Profile Essay
My MBTI profile is an ESTJ and according to the profile an ESTJ is an exceptional leader. (The
Executive, n.d.) An ESTJ is a hard worker and one that is fair and business minded. But how can the
SCARF tools and Non violent communication help me be a better leader?
First exploring the non violent communication principles reveal some details such as expressing my
values without blaming or criticizing and observing in a rational manner, Finally instead of
demanding, a request should be put forth explaining what needs my team should fulfill and explain the
areas that need addressing (Rosenburg, n.d.). Furthermore keeping the SCARF model in mind will
enable employees to function in a manner that will create an atmosphere that will let them thrive and
feel secure.
However, ESTJs can have a sense of trying to make everyone work just as hard as they do and need to
be reminded that not everyone is capable of the same workload. Accordingly, ESTJs are extremely fair
minded and see everything as right and wrong and should be reminded that not everyone shares the
same viewpoint. What can seem so very wrong to an ESTJ can seem right to someone else, as a result
an ESTJ needs a strong right hand with good social skills to help them understand the others point of
view. Continuing to work on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The World War I, America
David Ibarra Ms. Knochenhauer APUSH Period 4 24 April 2015 APUSH Research Paper Following
World War I, America turned inward and began to focus on itself. Yet, coming home from war
Americans were also fearful of communism due to the recent Bolshevik Revolution where Lenin and
the Bolshevik party gained control of Russia and made it communist. This scare led to drastic changes
within our nation s borders as America fought to keep communist influence out of its borders. This
was such an impactful event that even the Attorney General of the time, A. Mitchell Palmer, set up a
section in the Justice Department to handle issues relating to radicals, this sect of the Justice
Department would be very active as, More than ten thousand people were arrested some for
membership in Communist or left wing groups, others on no greater pretext than that they looked or
sounded foreign and then jailed and interrogated with little regard for their right to due process
(Lehman, Phelps 260). This severe response to the scare of Communism demonstrates an inward
focusing of America. Similarly, in the post World War I time period America would demonstrate its
interest in nativism which it would demonstrate through multiple acts being passed on immigration
primarily, the Immigration Act of 1924. During this period of nativism, Through the whole movement,
from 1921 on, for more drastic curbs on the new immigration ran an increasingly assertive racial
nativism (Higham 313). That is America had

Literary Analysis of David and Goliath
A Character Analysis of David and Goliath When studying any piece of literature there are many
different methods and techniques that can be used. The Bible, in specific, is often referred to as a
source of moral code, hope, and answers to social, ethical, and political questions. However, this
incredibly influential book can also be read as if it were any other novel. The events, settings, and
characters can all be evaluated for what they are, forgetting the notion that they are from a religious
text. This approach is called narrative criticism. When regarding to the Bible in this way, we do not
need to know any historical information or focus on seeking a deeper theological meaning. Instead,
the stories are evaluated in terms of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, it is hard to side with either the Philistines or the Israelites since neither show desirable
qualities. Goliath, though strong and powerful, shows nothing beyond that. He shows no faith in God
and is entirely dependant on his fancy armor and swords. Goliath has no other source of strength other
than his physical stature and possessions. David, on the other hand, is depicted as a character that is
lacking brute strength and weaponry. We are told through the voice of Goliath that he is only a youth,
ruddy and handsome in appearance (1 Samuel 17: 42). It is evident that David is meant to appear as an
average kid with no exceedingly superior or spectacular qualities. This simple portrayal of David is
significant because it sets in motion the development of realistic empathy from the implied reader
towards David. It is important for the implied reader to feel empathetic towards David because even
though David kills Goliath in the end, we are meant to view him as a hero, not a murder. Building a
connection between the implied reader and David makes this possible. Though David represents a
seemingly common boy at the time, he has several qualities that make him stand out. However, these
character traits are never simply told to us. Instead, the implied author uses David s actions, decisions,
and beliefs to

Contributions Of The Vikings, Polynesians, And The...
The Vikings, Polynesians, and the Phoenicians explored vast areas around the world. They were
motivated to trade and conquest areas of the unknown. These groups of people traveled without any
modern technology and they still managed to arrive in hard to reach places around the globe. Many
people wonder what motivated these talented explorers to discover and create what they did. The
Phoenicians traveled to places such as, Spain, Africa, and Scilly Isles. They explored places that were
beyond the traditional safe limits in the Mediterranean and into the Atlantic. The Phoenicians were
driven to trade things for silver in Spain, Africa s wide variety of gold, and tin from Scilly Isles. These
people were also credited with the achievements of many new nautical inventions. Their life was full
of exploring new places, and that benefitted their people very much. Exploration was the reason for
many new advancements in this time. Masters of the sea, is the name given to the Phoenicians for
their ability to push beyond the limits of traditional exploration. They were able to explore the seas
with their ships built out of cedar wood logs. The Phoenicians were famed in antiquity for their ship
building skills, and they were credited with inventing the keel, the battering ram on the bow, and
caulking between planks. (cite 1) They had three types of ships. The one they used most often was for
trading; It had wide, big bellied hulls They were never short of supplies due to the

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay
In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events
surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic
children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left open
to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghost story to a tale of
manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings
from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that the
apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the novella
with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner, ... Show more content on

Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his own.
This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the Uncle who is
at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat of an alter ego with
the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The doubling isn t merely
symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits.
For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the window, she duplicates his behavior
and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of
the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by
the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also
be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered
social status or class based on her actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly
knocked her down a few steps, showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds
her in their

Types Of Common Intention Constructive Trusts
For sole name cases, there are two distinctive stages where claimant have to establish a beneficial
interest under constructive trust before quantifying the beneficial interest whereas in joint name cases,
it is assumed that there is joint equitable ownership (i.e. 50:50 split) where the court only has to
quantify the beneficial interest.
For single name cases like Lloyds, claimant should acquire beneficial interest before it can be
quantified. There are two types of common intention constructive trusts: (i) express common intention
constructive trust and (ii) inferred (implied) common intention constructive trust. Lord Bridge made
two distinctions, where he referred the first category to constructive trust and proprietary estoppel
whereas the second category to constructive trust.
As regards (i), beneficial interest in a family home can be claimed through an oral agreement between
the couple, where claimant relied on the agreement to his or her detriment. A lie can be considered as
an oral agreement. However, it must have been communicated to each other. Instead of legal language,
the courts are looking for language that forms the necessary intention on which to base a proprietary
interest. Intention of parties must be common where Dilon LJ expressed that if parties intention was
not expressed, common intention would be difficult to prove.
Regarding detrimental reliance, claimant must prove that he or she relied on the agreement to his or
her detriment. To

  • 2. Genetic Modification Implications Genetic Modification Implications Health of An Individual Daisy the cow was born with a birth defect. She had no tail. The process of the genetic transfer is most likely to be the cause of this. Stefan Wagner, a scientist on the team, said This congenital abnormality is rare in cows and not something we have seen in animals we have cloned previously, However, they are still in the process of confirming whether or not this defect is link to the genetic transferring method. This deformity makes us question whether she has any other health issues. If she was born without a tail, there is a chance she could have other deformities as well. This is not good news as it any form of health problems could affect other parts of the cow. Genetic Modification Implications Survival of a Population As Daisy the cow was born with no tail, her offsprings could also have this problem. Not to mention that there could be a possibility that future cloned cows will also have this defect. This congenital abnormality can have a huge impact on the population because the purpose of cow tails is to ensure the cow s well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dolly was cloned via somatic cell nuclear transfer in 1996 by Roslin Institute in Scotland. Cloning from an adult cell is much more complicated than cloning from an embryonic cell but Dolly was a successful one in 277 trials. 29 early embryos developed and were inserted to 13 surrogate mothers, however, only one was successful and that was Dolly. A mammary gland was used, as it had all the DNA needed to reproduce a whole individual. Dolly had 3 mothers one provided the somatic cell, one provided the egg cell and one as the surrogate mother. The nucleus of the somatic cell was inserted into an empty egg cell and then activated by an electric shock. It was then put into the surrogate mother when it started to develop into a blastocyst. • 4. Tim Good Leadership Strategic Analysis Lonnie Ivery American Public University Introduction When the leadership of Apple changed from the visionary leader and founder Steve Jobs to Tim Cook many people viewed the transition with skepticism because of the big shoes that Tim was expected to fit in. The competition was high especially in the smart phones and watches market where the rate of innovation from the other competing companies is also high. The creativity of firms like Sam Sung had threatened to wipe out the legacy of Apple as the leading producer of smart devices. The Apple stocks had begun declining, and the sales volume for the Apple products had gone down in the global market. It was the innovative and creative nature of the company that Tim ... This is because of the way it facilitates and supports the management system of the organization. It is through the structure that specialization and differentiation are attained. For effective management of the employees, different firms employ different structures for the organization that is unique to its operation and the organization culture. • 5. Colossal Figure Of Akhenaten Essay The Colossal Figure of Akhenaten was built during the Amarna Period, which was a period of change. The ruler was Amenhotep IV who changed his name to Akhenaten around 1348 BC. Akhenaten changed the religion from polytheism to monotheism and he moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes to Akhetaten. He also changed the artwork of the time, which is clearly shown in the Colossal Statue of Akhenaten. This statue was placed southeast of the Temple of Karnack where a temple for the (new) one God, Aten, was built. The Statue is a depiction of Akhenaten. It is about 16 feet tall and made of sandstone that has traces of polychromy within it. The reason why the Amarna Period art is drastically different is because the pharaoh, Akhenaten, was depicted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Akhenaten s statue has none of those qualities. It depicts the pharaoh as having a large stomach, not flat abs, which is shown by the obvious natural, curved line that is just above the sash and is the most prominent distortion. This is also an implied line that enunciates the imperfect body shape of the statue. The protruding stomach also creates a natural shadow that further shows the distorted features. Continuing downward on the statue to the sash there is also a natural, curved line that goes upward towards the thin waistline. This shows a feminine quality that men should not have. On the clothing, there is an implied overlapping with the pieces of cloth in the front shown by the layering effect. Also, on the clothing there are implied lines that seem to curve around the statue. They all seem to be drawn to an unseen focal point near the top of the sash, creating movement. This implies that the clothing is wrinkled giving it a different texture then the rest of the statue which is smooth. It also emphasizes the feminine curve to his body. This is also emphasized by the lines that are further apart on top and as the body narrows, the lines get closer together like the fabric has to stretch more around the ... • 6. John Wilkinson, born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 6,... John Wilkinson, born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 6, 1821 was only 16 years old when he joined the navy. He was a naval cadet in the US Navy. Wilkinson was not entirely close with his father, Jesse Wilkinson. In fact, he actually grew up without him. He was not very talented when it came to his studies. This is because this was before the Naval Academy was created. The Narrative of a Blockade Runner is a personal narrative, meaning it will mostly include John Wilkinson s experiences. When one reads this narrative, it will feel as if he is reading a journal entry. It was common for many to write in journals in the 1800 s. Wilkinson was very straightforward and viewed war as a job. As the boys before the deluge used to say, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wilkinson closes his narrative by saying, Her officers and crew turned adrift with the wide world before them where to choose (page 252). By that, he was saying things are going to change. The states would have had to change the way they were controlling their societies. After the war, John Wilkinson lived in Nova Scotia until he died in 1891. His purpose of the war was that he tried to get all the supplies the Confederates needed through the Union s blockade. In all honesty, The Narrative of a Blockade Runner was an extremely difficult book to engage oneself to read. The personality of John Wilkinson in his narrative was rather bland, even though he was in a part of a major was in this county s history. The only disagreement I have against Wilkinson is that he mentioned that he would look back on his journal for humor. The outcome of the war was not humorous in any way for both sides, especially in the south. On a grand scale, Wilkinson brought me into the war. He explained many of the little tactics that gave them advantages. It was very descriptive with the procedures they had to do. This narrative is not what I expected out of it. There was not much action. He hardly mentioned any of the deaths. It was just a strategy game for him. Without much of a personality coming from him, there was not much impact. There is just a different view on what happened in the war ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Pozdnyshev s Self-Knowledge And The Limitations Of Narrative Pozdnyshev wife s life altered after bearing children beginning to develop independent hobbies, such as playing the piano, which sparks Pozdnyshev s jealousy. Before taking up her hobbies, she brings a notion to her husband that in the world, the only thing worthy of attention [is] love (Tolstoy 42). She feels that she lacks love in her marriage, which results her to devote herself passionately to the piano, which had formerly stood forgotten in the corner (Tolstoy 42) to make up for lost love. Afterwards, their arguments became more intense, and Pozdnyshev becomes polluted by jealousy (Tolstoy 42) once his wife s attention is no longer on him, knowing that he is losing control of the mastery of the gaze. According to Jeanette Bicknell, the author of the scholarly article Self Knowledge and the Limitations of Narrative, she views Pozdnyshev s ignorance of his own emotional states and unhappy marriage could stem from a lack of self knowledge (Bicknell 409). He expresses his fear of losing the mastery of the gaze through anger, stemming not from unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality, but from his frustration at his inability to control his own desire, and at his inability of controlling his wife s body (Bicknell 409). By getting angry with her for taking up hobbies, he doesn t see her as a human being, but an object that always needs to be managed by him through the mastery of the gaze. • 10. Making A Proactive Change Management Decision For a few years now, I have considered making a proactive change management decision of going back to the academic arena of teaching continuing education classes in September for the fall semester. In the past, I have taught evening continuing education classes to adult students, who were enrolled in a medical billing certificate program. I miss teaching in the classroom, and I thoroughly enjoy training students for the workforce. The courses I taught were technology geared toward Microsoft Office software. Since I made the decision to no longer teach and return to the university to complete my bachelor s degree, this transitional change is something that I have been considering. However, there are internal and external forces that exist that may impact on extending my work schedule, and I expect to encounter some resistance from family members supporting me in working longer hours that may impact my final decision. Personal Change The transitional change of returning to the classroom affords me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience teaching multiple Microsoft Office applications. According to Petty and Thomas, (2004), Many adults are having to set their sights on obtaining sufficient skills to be more marketable for employment (p. 473). Teaching students the techniques to successfully operate Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint has been very rewarding to me and is also something I perform in my daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I accomplished much of this by going to corporate conferences held by major brokers, meeting and listening to CEO s and CFO s. While invested in the market I designed and built residential homes for myself, which I sold and one commercial three story building with rental income and a penthouse, which I lived in until selling it in 1996. In 2000, without conscious awareness I made mistake number one. I built a dream home, an Italian farm house villa, which I designed for $1,500,000 with an $800,000 mortgage and sold it for $3,250,000. The reason for the large mortgage was to leverage my positions in the stock market, which many others were trending to at that time. • 17. Federal Reserve Should Raise The Federal Funds Rate The discussion of whether the Federal Reserve should raise the federal funds rate is a highly contentious one. Members of the Federal Reserve ( Fed ) and academic economists disagree about what constitutes appropriate future macroeconomic policy for the Unites States. In the past, the Fed had been able to raise rates when the unemployment rate was under 5% and inflation was at a target of 2%. Enigmatically, since the Great Recession and despite a strengthening economy, year over year total inflation since 2008 has averaged only 1.4% as measured by the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index ( PCE ). Today, PCE inflation is at 1 1.5% and has continuously undershot the Fed s inflation target of 2% three years in a row. (Evan 2015) In the six years since the bottom of the Great Recession the U.S. economy has made great strides in lowering the published unemployment rate from about 10% back down to about 5.5%. In light of this data, certain individuals believe that the Federal Reserve should move to increase the federal funds rate in 2015 because unemployment is near 5% and inflation should bounce back on its own (Derby 2015). However, this recommendation is misguided. Overview The Federal Reserve should utilize a balanced approach to monetary policy. Elliot examines the history of early modern Spain from the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella and Ferdinand, to the reformation of the Spanish government by the first member of the Bourbon dynasty. According to the author, at the start of the 15th century, Spain was internally weak, hopelessly divided and isolated from the continent by the Pyrenees. While it is true that Ferdinand interfered little with Isabella s handling of Castilian affairs, Elliot asserts in Chapter Four ( The Imperial Destiny ) that certain key issues were handled jointly by the monarchs. This was evident in the concessions that they were able to extract from the Vatican. Patronato Real, or the right of presentation to all ecclesiastical benefices in the Kingdom of Granada was granted to the sovereigns of Spain by Pope Innocent VIII while the Reconquista was still ongoing. Eventually, the author goes on to say, this right would be extended to all Spanish domains. This gave the rulers of Spain almost complete control of the Catholic Church in their territories and in time, the clergy would become the most efficient of bureaucrats and administrators of the Spanish empire. Chapter Five is entitled The Government and the Economy of the Reign of Charles V and in it Elliot argues that after Ferdinand s death in 1516, his successor Charles I of Spain, V of the Holy Roman Empire, inherited a thriving, pacified, quasi united kingdom that had access to the incredible wealth of the Americas. The problem, the author suggests, was that Charles and his successors did not fully understand the complexity of the Spanish system they inherited. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
