Symbols And Symbols Of Icons
Iconography is the traditional or conventional images or symbols associated with a subject and
especially a religious or legendary subject (Iconography). Icons are used in all religions to represent
and commemorate religious figures and symbols that are held with great honor within the religion.
Icons are used to represent some sacred personage, such as a saint or an angel or Christ (The
Definition of Icons). Icons are typically written on wood and honored as sacred (Goldammer). Not
only is the writing itself seen as sacred but the whole practice of creating these icons is a religious
event. There are three main types of religious icons: portrait icons, group icons, and landscape icons
referring the the objects in the writings.
There are rules associated with iconography that have to be followed in order for the image to be
viewed as an icon. Before the artist starts writing the icon, they are supposed to fast and pray so that
they are in a clear, undisturbed state of mind. The artist needs to quiet one s spirit, which is done
through the praying and fasting. The quieting one s spirit is a way to open up and let God in so he can
do the work. The artist is instructed not to sign the writing as it is supposed to come from God
therefore, there is no credit that needs to be given. Another rule is that icons are referred to as written
instead of painted or drawn . Describing them as written emphasizes the important spiritual role that
these icons possess.

Legend Of The Ghost Dog Analysis
The novel Legend of the Ghost Dog , written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, is a thriller and mystery tale
about a young girl named Anita (although is known as Tee throughout the book), on an expedition she
attended to a small cabin located in the Alaska wilderness, in the town of Nome, with her father and
her younger brother Jack, and another young girl that she befriended named Quin. This adventure
starts from not Tee s perspective, but from an older woman named Dodie about her childhood raising
Siberian Huskies with her family, these chapters would consistently reoccur in the novel. The legend
began as just a silly yet spine tingling fable of a dark looming creature known as the Shadow that lived
deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her
little brother and her father were residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow
that turned out to just be a dog, a jet black Husky with pale blue eyes with a strong broad body,
discovered by the two young girls after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and
Jack s Mother was in Japan for two weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went
with their dad, a writer, who was on the hunt for a story about how the relationship between dogs and
man have become less and less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were
not requiring dogs to pull sleds from place to place. Thus, Tee s father begins to work with a

ironic and crucial element. Also, the beginning of the novel on Ite, missa est[1] is ( the mass ) a claim

It is said in Christianity Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. However, the priest
does not seem to agree with that statement. The fact of the matter is that death in the wilderness was a
sad, yet common thing during this time in Quebec. Therefore, the people did not see it as a big deal; it
was more or less a way of life. Unfortunately many people perished in this way. Another example of
this is when it was pronounced that François Paradis was lost; everyone basically gave up hope, and
simply decided to move on with their lives. On another note, Maria Chapdelaine s mother comes to
mind when the words, giving up are used, but in a more positive sense. Maria s mother gave up her
wish to live in the city, so she could please her husband. The relationship between mother and
daughter is very evident in this novel. It is implied by the priest that Maria has duties in the household
and duties as a woman. François Paradis also knew that Maria would make a good housewife, one that
would give wholly, love of the body and the soul that she would be a devoted spirit that would not
waver.[6] These similarities are apparent when the daughter s first love is represented by a symbolic
abduction, (winter storm) that is followed by a return to her mother s way of life. She generously
accepts Gagnon as her husband, thus guaranteeing the continued existence of family,

What Is The Literary Devices In Scene De La Vie De Boheme
One of the two female protagonists of La boheme (1896) is Mimi , a young seamstress and neighbor
of Rodolfo, a poor poet, whom he meets one day seeking a light for her candle. The libretto, for which
Puccini and his two librettists, Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, drew inspiration from Henri Murger
s novel Scenes de la vie de boheme, tells the story of the love of two couples Mimi and Rodolfo, and
Musetta and Marcello living in poverty in the artistic Latin Quarter in 19th century Paris. The plot
follows the ups and downs of their relationships as their part and reunite, until, in the final act, Mimi
death puts a tragic end to her and Rodolfo s love.

During her relationship with Rodolfo, Mimi demonstrates her flirtatious side, as it is implied that she
notices other men: as they are walking towards the café in act two, Mimi is said to be watching a
group of students, and when Rodolfo asks Chi guardi? , she answers, coquettishly, Sei geloso? . This is
further confirmed in act three, where Mimi confesses to Marcello that Rodolfo s jealousy makes him
suspicious of un passo, un detto,/ un vezzo, un fior , whereas later on, Rodolfo hilself tells Marcello,
con amarezza ironica , that Mimi e una civetta/ che frascheggia con tutti , and that she encourages
Vicount s advances. Mimi also momentarily reveals her vanity and a more materialistic side,
incongruous with the ideal of a modest maiden, when at the beginning of her relationship with
Rodolfo she wants him to buy her a new bonnet. Andiam per la cuffietta?, asks the girl, and when
Rodolfo buys it for her she is eager for compliments ( Mi sta bene questa cuffietta rosa? ). But the new
bonnet satisfies her appetite only for a moment: Bel vezzo di corallo! , she cries watching the window

Weather In Romeo And Juliet
Weather plays an important role in emphasising the effect and mood of a scene in any piece of
literature. While watching a movie, weather can influence the scene in any way the director intends. If
it was a dark, stormy night while something horrific was taking place during a scene in a movie. The
audience is going to feel more intrigued and involved in the scene based off of the surrounding
weather. If a horrific scene was happening and it had a bright sunny day without a single cloud in the
sky. The scene would not be as engaging because the scenery would provide a different explanation
for what was actually happening, which would contradict what was actually happening in the scene.

that in mind you can perceive the mood of the story would be peaceful like the day, but that perception
would be wrong. For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring. (III. i. 4). Along with the hot,
sunny day, tension is already being recorded and noted while the characters know that blood is going
to be spilled today. From that, the cold blood and hatred felt before Tybalt enters the scene, is
foreshadowing how the negativity is going to effect this perfectly hot and sunny day. As soon as
Tybalt walks upon the beach it starts to get windy causing many bystanders to leave their place at the
beach so it would just be the two, Mercutio and Tybalt, fighting a gun war per say to show how one of
them could easily defeat the other. They talk bad to one another continuously until the triumphed
Romeo appears on the scene. While the weather stays the same, Mercutio receives his temper and
shows his irritation once Romeo starts trying to show love rather than attempt to fight this evil
Capulet. Once Mercutio has had enough of Tybalt bashing on his best friend, he tries to fight Tybalt to
restore Romeo s dignity, but ends up dying for his best friend in this horrific gun battle. As soon as
Romeo realizes his friend just got shot, the day s sky turns to night and the suspending storm suddenly
approaches and Romeo is left in the cold night s rain with his dead friend. Romeo realizes that he
needs revenge for his best friend s death, so he shoots Tybalt. Once Tybalt s lifeless body has hit the
ground, a sudden storm approaches. The storm was added in to intensify the scene in a way words
possibly could not. The movie producer of this film wanted to not only focus on the scripting of the

Kudler Fine Food s Financial Position
Kudler CEO Financial Memo
The liquidity, profitability, and solvency ratios reveal some interesting points about Kudler Fine Food
s financial position. The liquidity ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was having no
trouble paying short term debt. However, the current and acid test (quick) ratios showed that during
2003 Kudler had an excess amount of cash that they were not investing properly. These ratios also
showed that Kudler was collecting receivables and selling average inventory very quickly. The
profitability ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was using assets efficiently and making
a decent profit. The profit margin ratio showed that during 2002 Kudler made a profit of four cents per
dollar, and during 2003 they made a profit of roughly six cents per dollar. In addition, the return on
assets ratio (which is also a profitability ratio) showed that Kudler utilized their assets efficiently
enough to turn a profit. The solvency ratio used, which was the debt to total assets ratio, showed that
during 2002 and 2003 Kudler only had around a quarter of their assets financed in debt. All of these
ratios show that Kudler was a fairly strong company financially during 2002 and 2003. When trying to
figure out how successful Kudler Fine Foods is, it is critical to review all financial statements. By
using the horizontal and vertical analysis and the determining ratio calculations the profitability,
liquidity, and solvency are figured. A specific

America Is A Melting Pot
America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds, so
why are the American news broadcasters predominantly white men in their late forties? News
represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a whole.
In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see themselves
represented and trust their news source. The lack of diversity among newscasters impacts the audience
s reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that they relate to and identify
with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand the impact it has on society.
There needs to be more of an effort to reflect diversity among our newscasters to correct the history of
discrimination, to accurately reflect the audience and to provide role models and promote positive
images.
The United States is called a melting pot because the the varied groups of people that live in the
country and interact every day, but the country also has an ugly history or discrimination against
women and minorities. The broadcasting industry has been guilty of this discrimination. There has
been blatant discrimination against women newscasters. Women journalists initially had difficulty
breaking into the broadcast news field and did not begin to make real strides towards equality until the
1960s and 1970s ( Irvin) . This is very discouraging to young women interested in this

Substance Abuse And Its Effects
SUBSTANCE ABUSE Researchers state that almost half of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia
in the United States also self medicate with alcohol and other drugs (Elements Behavioral Health,
2014). This is suggested due to individuals attempting to lessen the symptoms of their disorder. As
discussed previously symptoms can include hearing and seeing things that others don t hear or see,
problems falling asleep or staying asleep and problems with concentration and memory. In an effort to
lessen these symptoms alcohol and other drugs are used to induce sleep (NIMH, 2014). Research
suggests that approximately fifty percent of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia have a co
occurring substance abuse disorder. The most common used are alcohol, marijuana and tobacco
(Green, Drake, Brunette Noordsy, 2007) (Dube, 2012). In contrast to what individuals diagnosed with
schizophrenia think they may be achieving by using alcohol and other drugs, research states that
substance use may actually modify the dysfunction in the brain reward center by increasing the
symptoms (Green et.al, 2007). Self medicating with alcohol and other drugs can often lead to
disruptions in gaining access to treatment. Pharmacological treatment is seen as one of the most
effective ways to assist with symptom reduction, and using alcohol and other drugs often interfere
(MHA, n.d). Some research studies have proposed that when an individual consumes any sort of mood
altering substance, such as alcohol

Biological Control of Cabbage Root Fly
Introduction
Biological control involves the use of living natural enemies to lower the population of a particular
pest species (Eilenberg et al. 2001). These natural enemies are called biological control agents and can
include viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasitoids, predators or competitors. Biological control is an
application of density dependence and population regulation and is one aspect of integrated pest
management. After the discovery of synthetic chemicals as controls, research into biological controls
received little attention; however it is currently gaining popularity. This is due to its many advantages
over other control methods, such as synthetic pesticides, and its few disadvantages. ... Show more

Once implemented, the long term economic costs of biological control will often be lower than
alternative synthetic chemical controls because pesticides require repeated application for ongoing
efficacy. Biological control agents often exhibit high target specificity, unlike pesticides which often
result in non target organisms being affected. Pesticides can bioaccumulate and biomagnify in the food
chain and the chemicals can leach through the soil negatively affecting other organisms. Biological
controls will continually target the pest while not affecting other potentially beneficial coexisting
organisms. Unlike chemical controls, biological controls are self perpetuating, and the pests upon
which they are acting usually do not develop a resistance, or are slow to develop a resistance. With
proper research and understanding, the natural occurrence of biological controls can make their use
safer to humans and other organisms than that of synthetic

Summary Of Cinematic Language In A Bronx Tale
In the film, A Bronx Tale (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, the character Calogero Anello played by
Lilo Brancato, demonstrates cinematic language. The cinematic language uses various visual codes in
cinematic storytelling to convey the meaning of a film. The components of cinematic storytelling are
portrayed through various techniques such as, camera movement, mise en scene, cinematography,
sound, editing, and etc. within a film s frame to help tell the story. The main character Calogero faces
many obstacles throughout the film, but they mostly result in a battle of trying to receive acceptance
from his father, Lorenzo Anello played by Robert De Niro. Through the course of the film, the director
accordingly uses the setting of the film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major cinematic component that is noticed throughout the film is mise en scene. The use of mise en
scene of the film influences the viewer s mood and perception of what is happening. The main mise en
scene elements used in A Bronx Tale is lighting, setting, and costume design. The film uses lots of low
key lighting from beginning to end to create a depressed feeling that creates conflict and confusion.
The shadow effects also create drama and show the dark side of the characters. For example, a scene
from the beginning of the film uses lighting to highlight the good and bad characters. Calogero,
through the entire scene, is lit up with high key lighting, while Sonny the antagonist is shown in a low
key lighting. As the film moves along and follows Calogero s life, the constant use of low key lighting
helps the viewer understand the disparity that he is going through while deciding which lifestyle he
wants to be a part of. The setting is important during the course of the film, because it gives a vivid
representation of the lifestyle. The setting of the film is in Belmont, an Italian American neighborhood
in the Bronx. Another important setting of the film is the neighborhood bar, Chez Bippy. The bar is an
important attribute to the film because most of the film is filmed at the bar and most of the characters
are introduced there. Costume design plays a major role as well because it gives a representation of
the mobster lifestyle. The tall hats,

The Separation Of Powers
Separation of Powers
During the drafting of the United States Constitution at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a topic
of most importance was the separation of power amongst the three branches of government: the
legislative, judicial, and executive. Following the end of the Constitutional Convention, Alexander
Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay wrote a series of essays known as the Federalist Papers
promoting the ratification of the constitution. In it, they responded to the critique presented by the
people known as the anti federalist. In Federalist Papers No. 47 49 51, James Madison addresses the
need to establish the separation of powers, but to further develop them with a system of checks and

Aside from specific rules and boundaries, there must also be overlap amongst the branches. The clear
lines are drawn to protect the branches from one another but Madison believes that unless these
departments be so far connected and blended as to give to each a constitutional control over the others,
the degree of separation which the maxim requires, as essential to free government, can never in
practice be duly maintained (Madison 1788, 300). Unless the branches are connected and give each a
constitutional control over the others we cannot maintain the separation essential to free government.
The anti federalist believed that the framing of the state constitution just stating the boundary lines
between the branches was enough but something stronger is

As we read in the play, King Henry has many speeches that were made to determine his English
soldiers. For example, Henry refers to his soldiers as more closely impacted names like brother and
friend. Henry speaks very sophisticated and pumps up his men to be just as eager to fight as he was.
Most of Henry s speeches were uplifting and had a very happy and fierce tone to them, so not only he
would display seriousness and also uplifting attitudes. Henry s speeches work magic on his soldiers
and is a type of manipulation to work with the King to get what he wants. Even though manipulation
is usually a harsh term, it is needed when it comes to fighting in a war! King Henry used his words
very intelligently to push on the soldiers to fight for their mighty King Henry. One of the last qualities
about King Henry that supports his morality was his intelligence. Through out the play King Henry
had many big decisions whether it be to go to war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other
conflicts. I believe that Henry used his intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was
about to bring his troops in to fight France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought
this was a very intelligent thing to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were
thinking and what was going through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the
soldiers wouldn t speak to the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and

Profiling is a Necessary Means for Discovering and...

means for discovering and apprehending criminals. There are many different types of profiling and
many people think of profiling differently; however, all types of profiling does work and is proven to

What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition.
What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s
only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already
know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions,
arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically
use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying
the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of
controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in
most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm.
The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words
disparity and discrimination.
Disparity and discrimination are closely related but there is one major difference between them that
sets them far apart. Disparity is

men were ready to attack in the Ardennes and begin the surprise attack.
Thousands of Germans troops start the attack in the heavily wooded forest and the allies were caught

five hundred soldiers in a division surrendered. This surrender was the largest surrender in U S history.
The reason why the attack worked was due to the forest. The allies could not see the enemies through

Child Soldiering Report
With the Convention on the Rights of the Children in 1989, the United Nations provided the first
official and international treaty that gave economic, political, cultural, civil and social rights to
children. The treaty has been ratified by 190 nations. The Convention imposes on states the obligation
to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of 15 years do not take a direct part of the
hostilities (United Nations Humans Rights Office of the High Commissioner). The United Nations has
been concerned with this problem for some time. In 2014, the United Nations launched the campaign

Child soldiering is a problem that the United Nations wants to solve. To prevent the use of child
soldiers the United Nations engages with governments and armed groups in order to find a solution
that satisfies everyone. In child soldiering, the United Nations looks for the development of political
structures over time in order to find the roots of child soldiering. The political structure of the country
provides a large amount of information i.e. political power of citizens, political awareness, and
political knowledge. Politics inform people about their rights and duties. However due to the
persistent lack of solid political structure, the citizens of concerned countries are not politically aware
and thus cannot object to the use of child soldiers. In fact, political structures and political awareness
have an impact on social behaviour. Groups that acquire power with the use of violence can easily
transmit their beliefs to the population (Dyck). Therefore, the acceptance and practice of child
soldiering can be explained by the fragile political structures, lack of political power and social
behaviour over

Impact Of Communication Technology
Computer Programmer
How has communications technology affected this career in the past? Communication technologies
has affected computer programmers in the past because the first programmers were trying to create a
program for calculations to more easily do math. The first programmer was Ada King, moreover she
wrote the first algorithm to be carried out by a computer from 1842 1843. The first computer was not
electric, but all mechanical. Since then computer programmers have been creating many software s to
enhance communications technologies. Around 1889 1896, Herman Hollerith created the tabular and
keypunch system to process information and had also created a control panel that could allow the
tabular and keypunch system to preform different tasks. He founded the Tabulating Machine Company
in 1896, which later became IBM. Communications technologies was vital during World War II.
During the war the first digital and programmable computers were used. They were known as
Colossus, and their purpose was to decode encrypted messages from the Germans. In 1947, the first
bug in computers was reported by Grace Murray Hopper, it was an actual bug as a moth had flow into
the Mark Aiken II Relay Calculator. It had to be debugged . By 1949, the Electronic Delay Storage
Automatic Calculator was created and was known as the first programmable computer with practical
storage. It could calculate lists of prime numbers and tables of squares. In 1954, John Backus created

Alexis De Tocqueville New Imperialism
NEW Imperialism, being an important step towards bringing peace for people, can also have
disagreers. Europe has seen many transitions in its history; which means every generation had
different ideas about the type of government they would prefer. While Alexis De Tocqueville and
Rudyard Kipling wanted Europe to imperialize, Edward Morel and Aime Cesaire were against it.
Depending on the time they wrote, some of their reasonings were similar and some were totally new.
NEW Alexis De Tocqueville travelled to Algeria twice in order to understand Arab s situations with
French people. At first, he looked at Algeria as a democratic person, because he also did research on
the democracy of America. He believed that if Algerians will be placed under French administration,
they will never be able to succeed because Arabs do not create new government, but improve the one
they already have. They live in Tribal organizations, which is very hard to break and their way of life
is according to the Koran, which gives them civil and religious laws to be successful. He thought of
both sides by saying that Algerians should have unity, so no foreign power can break in easily, and
both Arabs and French will merge at some point if they will have a same leader. He said, With time,
perseverance, ability, and justice, I have no doubt that we shall be able to raise a great monument to
our country s glory on the African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Quran, The Holy Text of Islam
Those who are free cannot fathom the value of small victories for those who live on a tether (Sasson
116). In contrast to the rights provided to the people of the United States of America, women in Saudi
Arabia have little to no freedoms and are treated as property. Saudi women are just as entitled to basic
human rights as other men and women around the world, which leads to the question of what
restrictions are placed upon them, and how these affect their lives. The second class status of women
in Saudi Arabia has a significant negative impact on their lives and results in the desperate actions
they take. The second class status of women in Saudi Arabia has a significant negative impact on their
lives and results in their desperate actions.
The Quran, the holy text of Islam, states that men are the protectors of women, but the Saudi men use
it to justify their abuse of women; as a result, young boys are told that women are useless. The
translated version of the Quran states that Men ... are the protectors and maintainers of women
inasmuch ... As for those women from whose determined disobedience... remain apart from them in
beds; then ... beat them lightly ... Then, if they obey you ... do not seek ways against them (to harm
them) (The Miraculous Quran). The Quran states that the man s job is to protect the women but it does
not permit them complete control of the women s lives. The Saudi men use the Quran to their
advantage and use it to justify their means of hurting the women.

What I Really Learned About My Undergraduate College Motto
When you have a good reason, you ll find a way. My undergraduate college motto was Find a Way or
Make One. While on the campus of Clark Atlanta University is where I really learned what that meant.
I recall complaining to my department chair about another professor, and I knew that I was absolutely
right. I knew the department chair knew I was right as well. She asked, What did you do? I then
proceeded to run down a long list of things I could have done to end up with a favorable result. I wasn
t pleased at the time, but I got the lesson. I could not have both excuses and results. My why was that I
was going to be the 1st person in my immediate family to graduate from college. The how was any

So often we undervalue or take for granted those skills and strengths that come to us naturally. What
problems do you really enjoy solving or what problems do you feel passionate about trying to solve. It
allows to focus on what you re innately good at. When you decide stand for something, you then live
in alignment with it. This inspires you come alive and flourish because we all need it. Still, we need
motivation to keep going. This brings you closer to discovering your why. Your why gives you
meaning and direction. It provides you with clarity, helps you make decisions, and gives significance
to life. The most classic childhood questions is simply why? Even from a young age, we know
intuitively that the motive behind an action is the most important piece of any story. Knowing your
why is a critical piece to living with intention. It answers why you want something. This is just like
asking, why is this important? The key here is that the more important something is to us, the more
likely we will continue doing it. For example, we seek good schools for our children because we want
them to be successful or even safe. With success or safety as motivating factors, some parents will
drive their children all the way across town with the hopes of achieving that end. Similarly, your why
supports your purpose, fueling you to try again and work a harder. The more significant your

Opponents Of The Electoral College System
Opponents of the Electoral College system also point to the risk of so called faithless Electors. A
faithless Elector is one who is pledged to vote for his party s candidate for president but nevertheless
votes for another candidate. There have been 7 such Electors in this century and as recently as 1988
when a Democrat Elector in the State of West Virginia cast his votes for Lloyd Bensen for president
and Michael Dukakis for vice president instead of the other way around. Faithless Electors have never
changed the outcome of an election, though, simply because most often their purpose is to make a
statement rather than make a difference. That is to say, when the electoral vote outcome is so
obviously going to be for one candidate or the other, an occasional Elector casts a vote for some
personal favorite knowing full well that it will not make a difference in the result. Still, if the prospect
of a faithless Elector is so fearsome as to warrant a Constitutional amendment, then it is possible to
solve the problem without abolishing the Electoral College merely by eliminating the individual
Electors in favor of a purely mathematical process (since the individual Electors are no longer
essential to its operation).
Harm 2: direct popular vote does not encourage the cohesiveness of the country by not requiring a
distribution of popular support to be elected president
the Electoral College system contributes to the cohesiveness of the country by requiring a

Essay On Hand Swaging Bullets
In this week s reflection assignment the required viewing material was a video that addressed the topic
of hand swaging bullets.
The video gave an overview of the projectiles themselves and also showed the method in which they
are to be loaded.
The video began by stating that the projectiles were sent to him to be tested and he did not swage the
swaged projectiles that are being shown in the video. The projectiles were unique in the fact that the
person that swaged them used a die that would allow the used brass from a .40 S W to be formed into
a jacket for a .451 caliber projectile that are to used to load .45 ACP. The video states that it will give
the user a greater amount of versatility when using the projectile as opposed to using a cast bullet.
There were two different types of projectiles to be tested in the video. The first being a standard lead
core projectile and the second projectile has a .30 caliber gas check in the nose of the cartridge. These
swaged bullets were very comparable to factory ammunition in terms of diameter and weight. ... Show

gauge in the reloading process. To use the barrel to check the length the loaded bullet will need to be
placed in the chamber to ensure that it will seat fully and also that is will fall free of the chamber. The

A Push for Safer Crosswalks for RACC Students and Faculty...
In this modern day and age many drivers and pedestrians alike become easily distracted by: cell
phones, I Pods, navigation systems, as well as many other distractions. These distractions can make it
quite dangerous to even cross the street. It is quite shocking how worn and faded some of the
crosswalks at RACC have become. Even without the distractions the crosswalks are rather difficult to
see and be able to stop if a pedestrian steps into it. The crosswalks at RACC connect the main campus
with the parking lots, as well as other buildings, and classes just off campus. Having a student
population of almost 5,000 undergraduate students in addition to its full faculty and staff, a large
majority of these people have no choice but to park ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore while they are distracted and driving their focus must alternate between whatever other task
is at hand and driving. This draws their attention away from the road, which can potentially lead to an
accident. A crosswalk is generally designed to provide a safe path for pedestrians to cross by marking
the designated path that people can cross and in which motorist should be able to see. Should is the
keyword, because as the paint fades, chips, and wears from traffic; the path becomes harder for
motorist to see. The consequence of this is a driver will be less aware that someone may step into the
road trying to cross at these points. Laws and legislation are beginning to crack down on these drivers
but the roads are still a dangerous place for a person to be.
There are a multitude of options to increase the safety at cross walks. A pilot program in Virginia,
which is based off of similarly designed programs oversea, uses zigzagged lines painted on the road at
dangerous crossings ( Woodward, 2009). The idea is that the lines will draw a motorist s attention to
the road, the upcoming crosswalk, and they become aware of the potential for pedestrians to be
crossing. Placing a crossing guard at each crosswalk could serve the dual

Tom And Bob Can Appoint Carl As A Replacement For Tom
The first issue is whether Tom and Bob can appoint Carl as a replacement for Tom. In order to execute
this function, it must first be determined whether Tom and Bob are still legitimate trustees given their
current circumstances. The appointment of trustees will be made where a new trust is created either
inter vivos or by will; and during the continuance for an existing trust whereby one trustee may seek
to retire. On the death of a trustee, the remnants are given to the survivors to carry on the trust. Section
18(1) of the Trustee Act 1925 (UK) provides that where a power or trust is given to or imposed on two
or more trustees jointly, the same may be exercised or performed by the survivors or survivor of them
for the time being. Further, s. 48 (1) of the Trinidad and Tobago Trustee Act provides that the
appointment of a new trustee are outside of the realms of a court and the execution is done by persons
expressed in the trust instrument , or by the surviving trustees or by the survivor s personal
representative. Thus, Tom and Bob may have the power under the common law or Trinidadian statute
to appoint Carl. However, there may also be the sub issue of whether Tom has the competence to
make the appointment of a new trustee. Section 10 (1) of the Trustee Act states that where a trustee,
either original or substituted, and whether appointed by a Court or otherwise, is dead, or remains out
of this Island for more than twelve months, or

The chapter deals with communication and language; however, not in the way that is typically
expected. The main character, Nadine, can only communicate with her parents through mail and the
occasional phone call, and she fails to write back. Her former beau, Eric, can only communicate to her
through the voicemails he leaves on her machine. And the patient at the hospital, Ms. Hinds, can only
communicate through writing on a notepad. The nurse at the hospital tries to communicate and have a

Her unborn child with Eric seems to haunt her. She suspended communication with the people in her
life maybe because she is too ashamed by the abortion, so now she is punishing herself. Instead of
filling her life with people she substitutes human interactions with the voices from the TV. Nadine
now has to deal with the decision she made. Her use of language and communication were severely
altered by her decision. Instead of interacting with Eric, she ignores his calls and keeps his cassette
recordings next to a small shrine for the baby, which is possibly her form of mourning. Conceivably,
the chapter is named Water Child in reference to the baby. Nadine s shrine is described to have a
framed drawing that she had made of a cocoa brown dewy eyed baby that could as easily have been a

the baby might represent her lost of what she could have had along with symbolizing her grief. If she

  • 2. Symbols And Symbols Of Icons Iconography is the traditional or conventional images or symbols associated with a subject and especially a religious or legendary subject (Iconography). Icons are used in all religions to represent and commemorate religious figures and symbols that are held with great honor within the religion. Icons are used to represent some sacred personage, such as a saint or an angel or Christ (The Definition of Icons). Icons are typically written on wood and honored as sacred (Goldammer). Not only is the writing itself seen as sacred but the whole practice of creating these icons is a religious event. There are three main types of religious icons: portrait icons, group icons, and landscape icons referring the the objects in the writings. There are rules associated with iconography that have to be followed in order for the image to be viewed as an icon. Before the artist starts writing the icon, they are supposed to fast and pray so that they are in a clear, undisturbed state of mind. The artist needs to quiet one s spirit, which is done through the praying and fasting. The quieting one s spirit is a way to open up and let God in so he can do the work. The artist is instructed not to sign the writing as it is supposed to come from God therefore, there is no credit that needs to be given. Another rule is that icons are referred to as written instead of painted or drawn . Describing them as written emphasizes the important spiritual role that these icons possess. ... Legend Of The Ghost Dog Analysis The novel Legend of the Ghost Dog , written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, is a thriller and mystery tale about a young girl named Anita (although is known as Tee throughout the book), on an expedition she attended to a small cabin located in the Alaska wilderness, in the town of Nome, with her father and her younger brother Jack, and another young girl that she befriended named Quin. This adventure starts from not Tee s perspective, but from an older woman named Dodie about her childhood raising Siberian Huskies with her family, these chapters would consistently reoccur in the novel. The legend began as just a silly yet spine tingling fable of a dark looming creature known as the Shadow that lived deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her little brother and her father were residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow that turned out to just be a dog, a jet black Husky with pale blue eyes with a strong broad body, discovered by the two young girls after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and Jack s Mother was in Japan for two weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went with their dad, a writer, who was on the hunt for a story about how the relationship between dogs and man have become less and less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were not requiring dogs to pull sleds from place to place. It is said in Christianity Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. However, the priest does not seem to agree with that statement. The fact of the matter is that death in the wilderness was a sad, yet common thing during this time in Quebec. Therefore, the people did not see it as a big deal; it was more or less a way of life. Unfortunately many people perished in this way. Another example of this is when it was pronounced that François Paradis was lost; everyone basically gave up hope, and simply decided to move on with their lives. On another note, Maria Chapdelaine s mother comes to mind when the words, giving up are used, but in a more positive sense. Maria s mother gave up her wish to live in the city, so she could please her husband. The relationship between mother and daughter is very evident in this novel. It is implied by the priest that Maria has duties in the household and duties as a woman. François Paradis also knew that Maria would make a good housewife, one that would give wholly, love of the body and the soul that she would be a devoted spirit that would not waver.[6] These similarities are apparent when the daughter s first love is represented by a symbolic abduction, (winter storm) that is followed by a return to her mother s way of life. What Is The Literary Devices In Scene De La Vie De Boheme One of the two female protagonists of La boheme (1896) is Mimi , a young seamstress and neighbor of Rodolfo, a poor poet, whom he meets one day seeking a light for her candle. The libretto, for which Puccini and his two librettists, Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, drew inspiration from Henri Murger s novel Scenes de la vie de boheme, tells the story of the love of two couples Mimi and Rodolfo, and Musetta and Marcello living in poverty in the artistic Latin Quarter in 19th century Paris. This is further confirmed in act three, where Mimi confesses to Marcello that Rodolfo s jealousy makes him suspicious of un passo, un detto,/ un vezzo, un fior , whereas later on, Rodolfo hilself tells Marcello, con amarezza ironica , that Mimi e una civetta/ che frascheggia con tutti , and that she encourages Vicount s advances. While watching a movie, weather can influence the scene in any way the director intends. If it was a dark, stormy night while something horrific was taking place during a scene in a movie. The audience is going to feel more intrigued and involved in the scene based off of the surrounding weather. If a horrific scene was happening and it had a bright sunny day without a single cloud in the sky. Along with the hot, sunny day, tension is already being recorded and noted while the characters know that blood is going to be spilled today. From that, the cold blood and hatred felt before Tybalt enters the scene, is foreshadowing how the negativity is going to effect this perfectly hot and sunny day. As soon as Tybalt walks upon the beach it starts to get windy causing many bystanders to leave their place at the beach so it would just be the two, Mercutio and Tybalt, fighting a gun war per say to show how one of them could easily defeat the other. They talk bad to one another continuously until the triumphed Romeo appears on the scene. The liquidity ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was having no trouble paying short term debt. However, the current and acid test (quick) ratios showed that during 2003 Kudler had an excess amount of cash that they were not investing properly. These ratios also showed that Kudler was collecting receivables and selling average inventory very quickly. The profitability ratios revealed that during 2002 and 2003, Kudler was using assets efficiently and making a decent profit. The profit margin ratio showed that during 2002 Kudler made a profit of four cents per dollar, and during 2003 they made a profit of roughly six cents per dollar. In addition, the return on assets ratio (which is also a profitability ratio) showed that Kudler utilized their assets efficiently enough to turn a profit. The solvency ratio used, which was the debt to total assets ratio, showed that during 2002 and 2003 Kudler only had around a quarter of their assets financed in debt. All of these ratios show that Kudler was a fairly strong company financially during 2002 and 2003. America Is A Melting Pot America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds, so why are the American news broadcasters predominantly white men in their late forties? News represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a whole. In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see themselves represented and trust their news source. The lack of diversity among newscasters impacts the audience s reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that they relate to and identify with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand the impact it has on society. Substance Abuse And Its Effects SUBSTANCE ABUSE Researchers state that almost half of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia in the United States also self medicate with alcohol and other drugs (Elements Behavioral Health, 2014). As discussed previously symptoms can include hearing and seeing things that others don t hear or see, problems falling asleep or staying asleep and problems with concentration and memory. The most common used are alcohol, marijuana and tobacco (Green, Drake, Brunette Noordsy, 2007) (Dube, 2012). In contrast to what individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia think they may be achieving by using alcohol and other drugs, research states that substance use may actually modify the dysfunction in the brain reward center by increasing the symptoms (Green et.al, 2007). Cabbage Root Fly Biological Control of Cabbage Root Fly Introduction Biological control involves the use of living natural enemies to lower the population of a particular pest species (Eilenberg et al. 2001). These natural enemies are called biological control agents and can include viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasitoids, predators or competitors. Biological control is an application of density dependence and population regulation and is one aspect of integrated pest management. This is due to its many advantages over other control methods, such as synthetic pesticides, and its few disadvantages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once implemented, the long term economic costs of biological control will often be lower than alternative synthetic chemical controls because pesticides require repeated application for ongoing efficacy. Biological control agents often exhibit high target specificity, unlike pesticides which often result in non target organisms being affected. Pesticides can bioaccumulate and biomagnify in the food chain and the chemicals can leach through the soil negatively affecting other organisms. Biological controls will continually target the pest while not affecting other potentially beneficial coexisting organisms. Summary Of Cinematic Language In A Bronx Tale In the film, A Bronx Tale (1993) directed by Robert De Niro, the character Calogero Anello played by Lilo Brancato, demonstrates cinematic language. The cinematic language uses various visual codes in cinematic storytelling to convey the meaning of a film. The components of cinematic storytelling are portrayed through various techniques such as, camera movement, mise en scene, cinematography, sound, editing, and etc. within a film s frame to help tell the story. The main character Calogero faces many obstacles throughout the film, but they mostly result in a battle of trying to receive acceptance from his father, Lorenzo Anello played by Robert De Niro. A major cinematic component that is noticed throughout the film is mise en scene. The use of mise en scene of the film influences the viewer s mood and perception of what is happening. The main mise en scene elements used in A Bronx Tale is lighting, setting, and costume design. The film uses lots of low key lighting from beginning to end to create a depressed feeling that creates conflict and confusion. The shadow effects also create drama and show the dark side of the characters. For example, a scene from the beginning of the film uses lighting to highlight the good and bad characters. Calogero, through the entire scene, is lit up with high key lighting, while Sonny the antagonist is shown in a low key lighting. As the film moves along and follows Calogero s life, the constant use of low key lighting helps the viewer understand the disparity that he is going through while deciding which lifestyle he wants to be a part of. The setting is important during the course of the film, because it gives a vivid representation of the lifestyle. The setting of the film is in Belmont, an Italian American neighborhood in the Bronx. Another important setting of the film is the neighborhood bar, Chez Bippy. The bar is an important attribute to the film because most of the film is filmed at the bar and most of the characters are introduced there. Costume design plays a major role as well because it gives a representation of the mobster lifestyle. The tall hats, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Separation Of Powers Separation of Powers During the drafting of the United States Constitution at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a topic of most importance was the separation of power amongst the three branches of government: the legislative, judicial, and executive. Through out the play King Henry had many big decisions whether it be to go to war, who to bring, when to go, and all these other conflicts. I believe that Henry used his intelligence in many positive ways. When King Henry was about to bring his troops in to fight France, he borrowed a cloak and dressed up as a soldier. I thought this was a very intelligent thing to do because he talked to the soldiers to find out what they were thinking and what was going through their mind. This was a very smart strategy because normally the soldiers wouldn t speak to the king like they would to each other. Instead of the lies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A faithless Elector is one who is pledged to vote for his party s candidate for president but nevertheless votes for another candidate. There have been 7 such Electors in this century and as recently as 1988 when a Democrat Elector in the State of West Virginia cast his votes for Lloyd Bensen for president and Michael Dukakis for vice president instead of the other way around. Faithless Electors have never changed the outcome of an election, though, simply because most often their purpose is to make a statement rather than make a difference. That is to say, when the electoral vote outcome is so obviously going to be for one candidate or the other, an occasional Elector casts a vote for some personal favorite knowing full well that it will not make a difference in the result. Still, if the prospect of a faithless Elector is so fearsome as to warrant a Constitutional amendment, then it is possible to solve the problem without abolishing the Electoral College merely by eliminating the individual Electors in favor of a purely mathematical process (since the individual Electors are no longer essential to its operation).
