Juvenile Crime And Crime Rates
Juvenile crime is one of the nation s most serious problems. Concerns about it are generally
broadcasted by federal, state, and local government officials and by the public. In years prior, the
burden developed beginning with the dramatic rise in juvenile violence in the eighties reaching an all
time peak in the first part of the nineties. Even though juvenile crime rates seem to have lowered since
the mid nineties, the reduction has not eased the concern. Many states began taking strict statutory
stances toward juveniles in the late seventies and early eighties. This was an era in which juvenile
crime rates were steady or dropping slightly, while federal reformers were commending prevention
and less disciplinary actions. Some of the conflict between the federal program and what was
happening in the states at that time may have been initiated by substantial changes in legal measures
that made juvenile court procedures more similar, however not equal to those in adult (criminal) court.
The reaction to the most recent spike in vicious juvenile crime has been a portrayal of laws that
uphold blurred differences between juvenile courts and adult courts. Some states continued to
strengthen their juvenile crime laws over the years first by making sentencing more severe, two by
increasing allowable transfers to criminal court, or doing away with some of the discretion protections
of juvenile court. Many such changes were enacted after the juvenile violent crime rate had already

Hamlet Madness In Hamlet
When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point
out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact,
feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I
came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was
no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find
that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware
that he is only pretending that to be mad. I want to take out any proof that his madness isn t real. The
argument for legitimate madness is always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and
will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we
can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so.
These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on
(Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he
speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he
is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively
make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without
having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience
supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are
entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is
his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to
Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and
then clarifies

Difference Between Alland And Alice In Wonderland
After reading Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and then watching the Disney movie Alice in
Wonderland, I found that there were a couple of main plot differences. A main plot difference was that
the poem the Caterpillar asked Alice to Recite was different in the book than it was in the movie. In
the movie, Alice recited a poem titled How Doth the Little Crocodile, and in the book she recites the
poem titled You Are Old, Father William. The Caterpillar is also portrayed much meaner throughout
the movie compared to the book. At the end of the book, Alice woke up her sister and told her about
the dreams that she had. It turned out that the sister also dreamt something very similar. In the movie
though, Alice had woken up her parents. I feel that the meaning between the two different poems that
are read aloud by Alice are very different. One being more a story to follow and the other being a short
riddle to solve. Each of them are important, but in a movie context, I feel that the short riddle is a little
easier to follow. Wonderland is not supposed to make much sense, so if the riddle confuses the viewer,
they are able to think that it is just another silly part of Wonderland. The Caterpillar was not the nicest
character to Alice throughout the book, but after watching the movie I realized that that was probably
the nicest the author could have made him. The movie producers had him be awfully mean to Alice. I
think that Alice waking up to tell her sisters is a better way to end

Personal Counseling Characteristics
My Personal Counseling Characteristics Capuzzi, Stauffer, and Gross (2016) highlighted the existence
of core conditions identified throughout the counseling literature and research as an essential piece of
the therapeutic relationship (p. 8). Possessing and demonstrating these characteristics and behaviors
strengthen the helping alliance and aid in effectiveness as a counselor when guiding the client to
achieve optimal wellness (Capuzzi et al., 2016). The following narrative outlines characteristics and
behaviors emphasized as strengths necessary when developing a therapeutic alliance with a client and
those acknowledged as potential challenges or weaknesses hindering the development of a therapeutic
alliance. Additionally, explanations are discussed for selected strengths and challenges as well as
strategies to address challenges and weaknesses.
An Area of Strength Warmth as a core concept essential to the helping relationship is regarded as the
counselor s ability to convey genuine caring and concern to clients (Capuzzi et al., 2016, p. 11).
Without this ability to convey warmth as a counselor, the counseling process will not be effective,
especially as I believe warmth is essential to building rapport and promoting an environment in which
clients feel comfortable disclosing intimate details of their lives. After all, a client may be more
reluctant to disclose intimate aspects of their life if they believe that the individual to which they are
disclosing does not

Analysis of Labor and Employment Law Essay
One of the key provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act is that, in general, the employer is not
responsible for the cost of the employee leaving, in terms of pay. While an employee may elect, or an
employer may require the employee to substitute any of the accord paid vacation leave, personal
leave, or medical or sick leave (Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, § 102, 2006), the employer is
otherwise not obligated to pay the employee straight pay, as the leave is considered, as stated under
sub section C of Section 102 of the FMLA to be unpaid leave. It s important to distinguish then, in the
given situation, if the employee intends to, or if the employer requires, that the employee use any
pools of benefit time, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s important to note that the given situation specifically states that Employee B was denied a
promotion, which is a violation as defined under Section 4 of the Age Discrimination in Employment
Act, which states, it shall be unlawful for an employer to limit in any way which would deprive or
tend to deprive any individual of employment opportunities or otherwise adversely affect his status as
an employee, because of such individual s age (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967,
§ 4, 1967). There could be an argument in the employer s favor of the action if the employee that was
promoted were 40 years old or older, however, since the promoted employee was only 32 years old,
this proves that a violation occurred, as the promoted employee is not also protected under the Age
Discrimination in Employment Act.
Situation C.
When reviewing Situation C it s important to clearly understand, in the context of the Americans with
Disabilities Act, both the intention of the Act as well as the definitions of both undue hardship and
reasonable accommodation. The Americans with Disabilities Act provides interesting context in
Section 12101, in which it discusses that, in general, it s important that a person with a disability, or
perceived to have a disability, be protected and not precluded, and that these protections be broad in
scope and a disability under

Peds In Sports
In the recent history of American sports, there has been a surplus of the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs, PEDs . This has varied from the case in Major League Baseball and the biogenesis scandal, to
the case that involves Lance Armstrong in cycling. In addition, Russia is facing a ban from the 2016
Olympics in Rio for the usage of PEDs. In fact, according to Kalyeena Makortoff, ...Russian track and
field athletes, which were encouraged and covered up by coaches, doctors, and state and sports

unfair advantage. Some argue that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sports industry will not tolerate athletes using the drugs and in the long run killing himself or
herself by using the drugs while an athlete for a sport. Legalizing the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs could also become a sport of its own by athletes looking for the best drug possible and find
drugs that can turn them more into creature than human. Then sports will truly not be sport, it is going
to become a shot race for the next injection. This situation could only go for so long until a
detrimental situation happens when in the middle of the usage of PEDs, a life is lost from not using
the drugs properly. According to Doctor Thomas H. Murray The drug race in sport has the potential to
create a slow motion public health catastrophe. (Top 10 Pros and Cons Should performance enhancing
drugs (such as steroids) be accepted in sports?, Procon.)
In conclusion, Performance Enhancing Drugs such as steroids should not be legalized in the sporting
world. This is because of the long term health of the person, an unfair advantage that happens when
using Performance Enhancing Drugs, and the argument for legalizing PEDs is simply asinine.
Remember, that in the sports world many believe that the rules can be flexible if the right loophole is
found, and some may find a way to work the system. So those that try to use the drugs, just remember
it isn t the rules you are bending and breaking, it is your body that is being broken in the

Ultra-Violence In A Clockwork Orange
Discussions about literature and their adaptions, what they are and how they relate to tradition and
society prompts the question, how does the ultra violence fit in? In A Clockwork Orange, ultra
violence plays a key role in the overarching theme and tension within the novel and its Stanley
Kubrick s 1972 adaptation of the same name. The act of violence is paired with use of classical music
which incorporates happiness and pleasure with the act of evil. The use music to create tension within

Argument Against Trump
There should be no bitterness or hate where the sole thought is the welfare of the United States of
America. No man can occupy the office of President without realizing that he is President of all the
people ― Franklin D. Roosevelt (Goodreads). Franklin Roosevelt declares here that the President of
the United States should display extreme professionalism as a result of how they are elected to
represent and serve the citizens of America. Then, it can be implied from this quote that the president
should not overwhelmingly voice his own opinion, especially by being negative and targeting others.

can the president achieve this in the age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her article, Kang discusses the claim that Trump s phone creates a serious national security concern.
Primarily, his Android phone is very outdated and possibly unsecure. This means that his phone could
easily be hacked, exposing himself and the nation to threats, depending on what information is on his
phone (Kang par. 7). Also, if his phone is able to be hacked, there may be sensitive information that
could be leaked to the world, which could cause major issues with national security. Kang also makes
a main point about his phone being hacked through its internet connection, Twitter requires a
connection to the internet, which exposes the device to security vulnerabilities (Kang par. 6). This
means that his phone could easily be hacked through wireless internet connection. However, Toosi
attacks the topic from a different angle, analyzing how other countries could manipulate Trump s
actions as a result of his tweets. Toosi explains how Twitter has shown us the way that Trump works,
We re beginning to see what excites him, what angers him, what sets him off. We ve never had this
ability to read so much on what a president is thinking (Toosi par. 4). Other countries could easily
analyze what Trump says to provoke him into saying extremely unpresidential things about another
country through Twitter. They could do this by saying or doing certain things

Summary Of Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
In Sylvia Plath s autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar, Plath journeys through the mental deterioration
and reconstruction of Esther Greenwood. Sylvia Plath, college educated and highly independent when
she was a young adult in the fifties, was often described as the girl who wanted to be God. (Barnard)
Plath always had a passion for English and writing, and in most of her works, she exhibits dark and
unnerving themes. Assumingly, this dark tone is derived from her father s death and cruel departure
from her beloved home near the sea when she was eight years old. Plath also had to surmount her
constant repression of personality as people, men in particular, criticized her for being too brainy .
While being a renowned author, Plath is most known for her abstract poems and novels that showcase
intellectual and deranged topics. (Barnard). The Bell Jar is no exception to this standard. Much like
Plath herself, Esther Greenwood is depressed and has a cool and detached manner. Esther s mental
state, or lack thereof, is diminished by doubtful attitudes of others and finally rebuilt through the
trusting and deserved therapy of Doctor Nolan. The novel narrated Esther s downward spiral as she
goes from able bodied and healthy to detached to suicidal and, finally, to her recovery. As Esther s city
based internship is coming to an end, Esther begins feeling inadequate and unhappy. As her depression
deepens, coddling and condescending people send Esther into a negative spiral. After

Geographic Information System
The use of GIS and GPS to accurately predict catastrophic volcanic eruptions allows the ability to
notify people of lava flows, warn of eruption activities, and overall keep the losses to an extreme low.
The low number is achieved by the accuracy of both systems. What exactly is GIS? Geographical
Information System is the use of mapping the geography of a given area to gain knowledge about it.
To start mapping an area you first need a base map, this can be 2 dimensional or even three
dimensional. Once the base map is established, there is an endless amount of data that can be used
based upon the topic. This practice of using GIS originated in the 1960 s with a nuclear arms program;
now it is being used for multiple different reasons. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of municipal boundaries allows for city planners to know what areas with the highest
population will be affected. Also, cities that have already been established can improve safety areas
for evacuation times. This will allow citizens the ability to gather their things and move to safety by
avoiding lava flow. These maps, when used correctly, will save numerous lives, and save an incredible
amount of money for cities and its citizens. Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines is a prime example of
the success of GIS technology. Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991. While this eruption was catastrophic,
there were thousands of lives, and millions of dollars saved because of GIS. This was due to the
ability of geologist seeing the warning signs of activity which led them to start mapping areas that
were going to be unsafe. Once the areas were mapped the information was turned over to officials and
the military, and evacuations were given out. The areas that had a high chance of having rocks and
other debris land were evacuated first as well as the U.S. military moving to a safe location. This
example shows exactly how knowing what areas are going to be affected saves lives. While GIS is a
great tool to be used to save lives when it is paired up with GPS monitoring the usefulness of both is
fully utilized. GPS or Global Positional System is the use of satellites to determine the position of

the company offers three technological devices specifically tablets under the names X5, X6, and X7.
The three products have been in the market for different times as they were developed and introduced
into the market at various times. X7 is the youngest product and apparently retails at the least price.

However, at 2015, the product will have reached shakeout stage, and it will have increasingly
declining new customers. When the price is lowered to $420, and R D for the product lowered to 25%
then, the tablet will perform better than its competitors in the market. At this time, the total sales will
be 1, 371, 992 in 2012, and 2, 316, 675 in 2013. However, according to SLP 3 that would mean that
the company would have to reduce the production volume to achieve default run profitability. On the
other hand, if the company increases the cost of X6 tablet to $450 and R D to 40% it would mean that
the customers pay the same for the tablet as they pay for other competing tablets in the market. In that
case, it would call for a decision on the side of the customer based on their loyalty for them to
purchase the tablet. In so doing, the organization will register a sale volume of $1, 854, 036 in 2014
and $2, 337, 247 in 2015. If the company will increase the price further to $470 and increase R D to
45%, then tablet X6 will be less expensive for customers to buy than competing tablets. With that
change, the company will make sales of 2, 337, 247 in 2014 and 1, 180 751 in 2015. The reason for
the decline will be because the product will have reached the shakeout stage where the number of new
customers will progressively decline (Calvin, 2002). Following the analysis above, the best strategy
for tablet X6 is to increase the price to $450 and R D to 40% for between 2012 and

Essay about The Price of Diamonds Is Too High
Statement: The price of diamonds is too high.
The diamond cartel is the most successful and long lasting cartel in history. The cartel created a
scarcity for diamond and stabilized the prices at a high level. This essay will be discussing the validity
of the statement with reference to the market of the diamond industry, history of the diamond cartel,
how the price of diamonds is determined, and the implications thereof.
A cartel is a group of firms acting together...to limit output, raise prices, and increase economic profit.
(Parkin et al., 2013:312) The diamond cartel formed when diamonds were discovered in South Africa.
This discovery, in 1870, brought a rush of prospectors to South Africa to search for alluvial diamonds.
The search ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the discovery of diamonds resulted in an overall decrease in the price and value of
diamonds.
Rhodes saw the diamond cartel as a solution to this problem. Rhodes used the cartel to limit the supply
of diamonds to the actual demand, thereby stockpiling the excess supply. De Beers not only controlled
the market in South Africa, but they also expanded their holdings to other parts of the world, such as,
England and Israel. (Epstein, 1982:1) By 1929, when Sir Oppenheimer took control of De Beers, the
transition between the actual mining to the distribution, which is controlled by the Central Selling
Organizing (CSO), became centrally controlled. (Spar, 2006:197 198)
By analysing the definition of monopoly, which ...is the exclusive right of a person, corporation or
state to sell a particular commodity (Lerner, 1934:157), we can deduce that the diamond industry is a
single price monopoly; in other words, De Beers created its own barriers to prevent others from entry
by obtaining control of the supply of diamonds (Parkin et al., 2013:273) and selling at the same price
to all its customers (Parkin et al., 2013:275). Since by definition, a monopoly consists of one entity, a
monopolist has complete control of the supply of the commodity; therefore, it has market power and,
thus, has the ability to control the prices. (Parkin et al., 2013:272 273) The same would apply to the
diamond industry: De Beers was the only firm that mined

Pynchon’s Vision of America in The Crying of Lot 49 Essay
First published in 1965, The Crying of Lot 49 is the second novel by American author Thomas
Pynchon. The novel follows Oedipa Mass, a young Californian housewife, after she unexpectedly
finds herself named the executrix of the estate of Californian real estate mogul, and ex boyfriend,
Pierce Inverarity. In reflecting on their history together, Oedipa recalls how her travels with Pierce
helped her acknowledge, but not overcome, the poignant feeling that she was being held paralyzed and
isolated from the world (and others) within a staid, middle class existence by some invisible and
nefarious external force. Moreover Oedipa struggles to understand why Pierce would name her the
executor of his will considering her deep ignorance of finance, ... Show more content on

To assess this vision of an American society heading towards stasis developed in The Crying of Lot
49, one must first discuss the concept of entropy.
Broadly speaking, entropy refers both to the level of disorder and uncertainty in a system. The concept
originates from thermodynamics, where it is used to describe the thermal energy in heat engine that is
unavailable to be converted into work (i.e. transferred through a change in form or location). The
second law of thermodynamics stipulates that within a self contained system like a heat engine, the
aggregate measure of entropy must remain the same or increase over time because with no external
energy inputs, the system s net energy flow gradually subsides as the gaps between its higher and
lower energy particles decrease through the transfer of heat as they interact. This diminishing gap
between particle energy levels, denoted in part by a stabilization in temperature and phase state (e.g.
solid, liquid, or gas), reflects the system s progression towards a state of thermodynamic equilibrium,
or maximum entropy, where particles regress into towards a uniform set of characteristics and
inertness as the net energy flow grows infinitesimal. In moving towards equilibrium the system also
becomes increasingly disordered because in losing their distinctiveness particles become fungible,
rendering attempts to impose order and coherence on the system by drawing relations and distinctions

Music Can Affect Human Behavior
Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity,
evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or
about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of
organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned
general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel
scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes,
it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical
cue may help in comprehension and retention of information.
One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate
events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However,
the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel
information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied.
Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold,
Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and
the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension (Fagen
et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has

The Differences in Health Traditions Between Cultures
The Differences in Health Traditions between Cultures
Each individual has an exclusively cultural heritage attachment that is comprised of a lot of different
customs and values. It is almost impossible for anyone or group of people to live everyday by not
practicing according to their beliefs or cultural background. Being born to a person depending on
whom they are or where they live means so much in some cultures. For example, I was born into a
family where my parents were both educated and good practicing Catholics. This automatically puts
me in a middle class family or made my statues a little higher than so many people whose parents are
not educated. I consider myself fortunate and that is mostly why I am always humble in life.

Earlier this week, I took the liberty of interviewing a few close friends of mine in order to receive an
insight on their different cultural backgrounds. Being a nurse, I work in a very diverse community so
the results I received were very normal. The first family I interviewed was Filipino and I was very
interested to find out how they dealt with health and illness, culturally speaking. During our interview,
I quickly learned that in the Philippines many people believe that certain illnesses are believed to have
a natural origin. This did not come as abnormal. The Philippine tradition has been influenced by
Indians, Chinese, Arabians, Spanish, Mexicans and American belief systems (Poces Poces, 2004). In
addition, it is a common belief that illness is caused by spiritual as well as moral imbalances. In order
to combat these diseases, their custom called for the use of three types of healing: faith healing
through prayer, herbal medicines and massaging the body. Additionally, food is an important aspect as
well. Every night, I would prepare garlic and onion soup for my grandparents in order to make sure
their blood pressure was under control (M. Sampaga, personal communication, August 16, 2011). As
you can see, with different cultures comes different customs and there is no exception for health
traditions.
My next interview was with a Mexican family that I have known since

population in country is indigenous, Chile is the only country in Latin America that does not recognize
the indigenous people in its constitution, therefore they face great challenges when it comes to the

the centuries, many of their traditions have been lost due to Spanish and Chilean influence, however
some elements of the Mapuches can be found in the southern regions of the country. One of the

Poetry Makes a Man in Dead Poets Society Essay
Poetry Makes a Man When people take poetry as more than just words with meanings, but as words to
live by and take the poem to heart, the person may and will change by the words they live on. The
type of poetry will affect the way the person changes. In the very inspirational movie of Dead Poets
Society, Tom Schulman the screen writer, through the character of the visionary Mr. Keating: uses
plays and poetry to help the major characters and even some minor characters through their dilemmas
and any situations that could have applied to these inspired characters to think freely and take a new
road in life. Major characters such as Neil, Todd, Knox, Charlie, and Cameron have taken the

moment when the whole family discussed about his future, but not having as much confidence
towards his father as his peers, Neil decides not to take the moment and leaves us speechless on his
next action. Todd was the character that was the most affected by Mr. Keating s poetic teachings; the
viewers could even say poetry makes a man based on Todd s improvements. At the beginning of the
movie, Todd has a moment, when we understand and may even pity Todd because he says that no one
would listen to him and he was not the leading type. The poem of O Me! O Life! greatly resembled
Todd s situation. In the poem the audience hears of a narrator who is suffering through life and the
audience feels despair, but then the audience hears there is an answer! The answer being that we are
here and contribute a verse, showed that there is hope after all and that Todd can be more than just a
person who is suffering through life with no confidence. This poem initiated the confidence and the
Carpe diem also helped Todd to not only have confidence, but to be a leader that the viewers can
admire. Also showing that Todd had changed was the fact that in the beginning of the movie, Todd
was the last one to stand on the desk, and see things from a different perspective, and address Mr.
Keating as O Captain! My Captain! , which is also a poem. In the middle of the movie the

Export Promotion Of Import Substitution
In the ever globalizing world of today, exports have become a fundamental ingredient in country s
growth. Many countries, especially the less developed ones , often use policies of trade liberalization
to boost up their exports. The most commonly used policy is import substitution. However, sometimes
export promotion also becomes a prominent part of country s economic policy. Unfortunately,
Pakistan has never had a consistent, coherent and well articulated trade policy. Trading patterns have
closely followed a cycle defined by a major departure from and return to protectionist import
substitution policies. For Pakistan, import substitution strategy failed to boost up the economic
performance of the country. Although, the policy of import substitution has resulted in the promotion
of industries oriented towards the domestic market by using import restrictions, through high tariffs,
quantitative restrictions, overvalued exchange rates, to encourage the replacement of imported
consumer and manufactured goods by domestic products but it was also observed that domestic
industries growing behind protective tariff walls had no incentive to become efficient in production.
Infant industries also never grew up. In addition, Import substitution policies accompanied by
exchange controls promoted the use of more capital intensive techniques of production. Just by
looking at the way Pakistan s trade policy has fluctuated from protectionism to liberalism and back
and forth repeatedly

they are trying to change the face of ballet by modernizing it; Modern ballet should break boundaries,
chart new paths, achieve the unity of music and movements. Modern ballet should be a feast for the

interesting to see how she starts as a dancer and the things she must overcome throughout her life. For
instance, once Bronia marries Sasha, another dancer, they have two kids, Irina and Levushka; and she
must learn on how her career choices will affect her entire family. Throughout the novel Bronia
becomes more courageous especially once she has to deal with several of Sasha s affairs. She

Command and Control (C2)
1. Commanders are facing a wide range of tasks, missions and operations ranging from low to high
intensity situations that span the tactical and operational levels and also the battlespace is forever

of Situational Awareness (AS) at all levels in order to act quickly and decisively.

the intelligence available to evaluate options and potential strategies before making critical decisions.
6. Although there have been many advances in military communication technology there is still
difficulty getting FMV in the hands of the commanders on the front line. There are a number of
reasons why this exists, from the lack of military radio equipment available to push FMV down to the
tactical level, the lack of bandwidth and the lack of standardisation between waveforms. Commanders

Media Censorship around the World
Media censorship is not an unusual phenomenon around the world, as it has been disapproved by right
groups since ancient times. It had originated in ancient times when rulers and religious leaders
imposed limitation on the press, with an aim to stop them from spreading information which might
turn against them, and the activities conducted by them. Regardless of the differences in geographical
location, religion, culture and the tradition, the motive for censorship has remained the same. The
most widely used methods to control media are licensing and enacting laws which effectively restrict

subject matter. However, the absolute power of the minister to reject on giving licence is being

It is the number of persons who are willing and able to work but are unable to find jobs.
Unemployment is harmful to a country because it imposes costs on a Society. The cost of employment

Risks of Just in Time Inventory Systems Essay
The Risks of Being Just In Time
The following is a guest article written by Nick Koletic, an economics specialist at UCLA. In addition
to giving a brief background on Just In Time inventory system s benefits, the article s main focus is
the risks that JIT systems face.
Just In Time inventory (JIT) is part of a production system whereby a firm vastly reduces inventory
from its production processes so that utilization of production inputs and delivery of finished products
are accomplished without incurring significant holding costs. While JIT inventory systems are quite
attractive for this reason, they are a double edged sword. And though a JIT system might even be a
necessity given the inventory demands of certain business types, ... Show more content on

Shipping the same quantity of a product to different retail outlets, for example, might not make much
sense if the demand for that good is significantly greater at one location relative to another. This
approach to delivery cost savings also facilitates decreases in aforementioned holding costs by not
overstocking certain locations with a product. The same principle holds for inputs in production; parts
are not delivered and held at production centers where they might lay idle.
Some positive externalities may also result from a firm s decision to implement a JIT system.
Suppliers of such a firm, for example, might then be able handle larger orders but fulfill them with
smaller shipments. That is to say that for any given order size, supplying a customer that utilizes JIT is
typically easier to do because individual shipments tend to be smaller for these customers and thus
tend to be less demanding of the supplier. So it might be possible for suppliers, merely by the nature of
their customers JIT system, to greatly expand their ability to fill larger orders without having to
increase production capacity.
Several factors, however, make JIT systems a risky proposition. A key concern here is the extent to
which firms are dependent upon particular suppliers under such an inventory system. For example, if a
firm were to commission a highly proprietary product to a single supplier (single suppliers being
common in JIT), a JIT

of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies liabilities,
the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective transfer of
ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate rather than on
personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective bubble around the
company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners. Hence, business
structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable recommendation.
B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by
different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their internal.
macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key components the
number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the company. Apple has
well over 100,000 employees. The company s current CEO, Tim Cook has a unique style to how he
operates. According to an excerpt from Duke University s Fuqua School of Business website, the
school which Cook received his MBA from,

Analysis Of The Article Some Lessons From The Assembly Line
The article Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma is a rollercoaster ride that
takes the reader through the lessons that taught him to take nothing for granted. This is accomplished
by primarily showing the reader the life of an assembly line worker, but then will take jumps to show
the life he has at college. To take nothing for granted seems like such a simple and common lesson
that it really should be known by people long before they start working. This however is not the case
as Braaksma does a great job of telling his readers that even he did not have this down. His own life
lessons told throughout the article put it all in perspective and gave him the full grasp in the idea. The
main claim of Some Lessons From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lesson Braaksma taught is a great one that needs a little bit of examination to become even clearer
and greater. It goes from reading about school to the factory and back again. The highs and lows will
shift back and forth as well to help strengthen his points creating that perfect puzzle. With just lows,
the reading would be boring, and with just highs, everything would seem to be a main point, even
when it is not. Which is why the money, the factory life, and even the end are perfect highs. To take
nothing for granted is to become a better person. It gives a better perspective on everything. Taking
something for granted will only show greed or self entitlement which could lead to sadness or even
anger. For instance, if one takes clean water for granted, they will always expect it, or not be thankful
enough for how important it is. If they do not take it for granted than they will be thankful for a glass
of clean water as they will realize it will not always be there. Taking nothing for granted is a simple
and important, but often missed lesson that a lot of people may need to learn. Andrew Braaksma told
his story and how he learned this lesson for others to see though Some Lessons From the Assembly

Essay Effective Mediation
1. Introduction
The practice of settling human conflicts through intermediaries has had a rich history in Western and
non Western cultures and therefore a broad range of forms and functions. The conflicting parties in
most of the societies and at all stages of social interaction have had access to external actors to whom
they approach when they come to the conclusion that they are incapable to handle their different
opinions by themselves. In this case, an ordinary response to identify contradictions in objectives and
values be tween adversaries is to enter into a process of negotiation in order to achieve an agreement
on such differences, which is mutually acceptable. In consequence, negoti ation seems to be a
universal, human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A special research field in the mediation literature intends to shed light on the question, how
influential the impact of mediator s characteristics and motivations on the mediation process is.
Concerning the state of research, the studies of this debate show a divergent picture. There are
scientists who have queried the significance of mediator s impartiality (Bercovitch/Houston 1996;
Kydd 2003, Touval 1982; Zartmann/Touval 1996). Scholars like Saadia Touval have underpinned that
mediators are often biased and can perform their tasks just as well if not better as impartial mediators.
Additionally, Touval and Zartmann stated in their study that mediation is an exercise in power politics:
leverage is the ticket to mediation (Touval/Zartmann 1989: 129). In 2003, Kydd finds that mediators
use their leverage to one of the two conflicting parties and therefore constraint concessions. Thus, the
mediator must be biased to be effective. This means that merely a mediator who is biased towards one
side can credibility tell them that the opponent will not make peace without the concession. Carnevale
and Arad (1996) also remarked the importance of bias. Nevertheless, they suggest that impartiality
should not be underestimated and therefore be taken in to consideration.
However, there are a few practitioners who claim that the honest mediator must,

The first step of developing a profitable customer relationship is to understand what factors may affect
customers final decision making. As we known, the factors include previous experience, quality of

price, we can adopt following actions to attract customers, obtain customers satisfication, develop and
maintain a profitable customer relationship. 1. Product offering must go beyond customers
expectations, and better than their previous experience. * Increase the quality of offering * Provide
product augmentation (for exceeding customers expectations) * Develop a core product with
prominent character to attract customers attention 2. Establish a superior customer service network. *

The Model Minority Myth Of Asian Americans
The Model Minority Myth
The model minority stereotype suggests that Asian Americans as a group are achieving a higher level
of academic, economic, and social success than the overall American population (Hartlep, 2013; Tran
Birman, 2010). This stereotype is very much engrained in the American culture today; however, such
acceptance does not reflect the whole truth.
According to the 2010 U.S. Census, 52.4% of Asian Americans over the age of 25 have a bachelor s
degree or higher, compared to only 29.9% of the total population and 30.3% of non Hispanic White
Americans, signifying higher overall educational attainment for this group (U.S. Census Bureau,
2012). However, this high number failed to consider the differences within the Asian population with
some subgroups having educational levels that are significantly below the national average. The 2010
U.S. Census also reported that Asian Americans have a significantly higher annual family income than
any other racial groups in the country, though it failed to mention that Asian American families tend to
be larger with more family members that are contributing to that high annual income number (U.S.
Census Bureau, 2012).
How the model minority stereotype can negatively impact the overall educational experience for the
Asian American students is not adequately explored at this time (Museus, 2008). Though some studies
have looked at performance outcomes, such as GPA comparisons between Asian subgroups and other
racial

How Does The Endocrine System Maintain Homeostasis
Lauryn Varga 03 17 17 1B
The Endocrine System is important because it maintains homeostasis. It secretes hormones into the
bloodstream which helps the body in growth and reproduction. The endocrine system maintains
homeostasis by releasing hormones which affect how the body works and functions. Homeostasis is
maintaining the body s natural state and keeping hormonal levels constant and stable. The endocrine
system is a group of glands including the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, testes, ovaries,
adrenal, pancreas, and hypothalamus. The endocrine system interacts with the urinary, nervous,
digestive, and reproductive system, each in different ways. The nervous and endocrine system interact

Analysis Of Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form the general shape
of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No one grows
ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that the
advertisement is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artists intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup,
seem healthier. The lines throughout are very clean and crisp which gives an air of freshness about the
piece. The implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way for
the artist to show that Heinz ketchup

Scarlett Letter Essay
The Scarlett Letter was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850. This novel holds the genre of a
romantic piece portrayed through fiction, in a historical setting. It takes place in Boston Massachusetts
in the middle of the 17th century. This book contains a numerous amount of symbolism, imagery,
allegories, and allusions. Hawthorne introduces us to the prison first because he does not want us to
get the idea that this book is going to be cheerful, someone is going to get shamed. Hester Prynne
(main character) gets shamed in front of the whole town while displaying her scarlet letter A for
adultery. During her conviction her husband (Robert Chillingworth) returns home after two years, and
they have a tense meeting at the prison. Hester and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nathaniel was an American writer who was born in Salem Massachusetts, with a long New England
history. Nathaniel s original name of the family was Hathorne, he added a w to distinguish himself
from his family history. His relative was a prominent judge in the Salem witch trials of 1692 1693.
Nathaniel grew up from the upbringing of his mother. His father, a sea captain, died of yellow fever in
Suriname. His uncle Robert Manning, help Nathaniel and his mother financially, helping with his
college education at Bowdoin College. Hawthorne did not enjoy school even though he was an avid
reader and writer. He was an average student in the class of 1825. After graduation, Hawthorne went
back home to Salem. He spent a lot of time in the local library, learning about his ancestral roots and
his Puritan past. During this time of his discovery Hawthorne wrote many short stories, but they were
failed to publish. He married his wife Sophia at her parent s home in Boston during 1842, once
married they moved to Concord, Massachusetts. They rented the Old Manse from Ralph Waldo
Emerson. Surrounded in the literary circle and transcendental movement, the Hawthorne s had big
social lives. After Hawthorne s income from publishing short stories, they moved in with Hawthorne s

Analysis Of A Quick Nap
and the outside world begin? ; Where and when do you most enjoy the quality of light in your home ;
Have you ever been in transit between two homes? These questions get viewers thinking about
connections to their own experiences, and also serve as a summary of the label itself. One of the art
pieces that were being focused on was Walter Henry Williams oil on canvas painting, A Quick Nap .
His piece titled A Quick Nap stood out to me along my browse throughout the museum. Its interesting
color scheme grabbed me; I believed there was a tale to the story.
The lightly glossed, oil painted canvas depicts a little girl dozing by the red railing of a fire escape
above the city streets. The little girl is seen to be resting her head on her right hand, napping. Walter
Williams contrasts the curves of the girl s soft pink dress with the hard grid of the ironwork and
straight lines of the window that reflects similar fire escapes across the street. A rooftop water tower is
outlined against the haze of the evening sky, and a skylight punctures the roof below.
The fire escape became more than an emergency exit in a burning building. It is used for everything
from outdoor to dining to sleeping and gardening, opening up the home to the surrounding city like a
porch in the sky or private get away .
I gazed at the little girl in the foreground; the reflecting glass in the mid ground, and the evening sky
in the background. The painting is sized at about 24 inches by 30 inches.
While observing this painting, several questions came to mind, like a bulb became lit. Questions about
the sky, the dress, the sun, the reflection in the door, and the rooftop water tank were formed in my
mind. I even wondered where Williams was while observing.
The pink dress being worn by the little girl appears to have the softest color, it is light cool and
comfortable, which is most compelling and contrasting being the only curves in the frame.
The sun is low in the skyline showing the time of day, possibly early evening and at the same time sets
the tone for the artwork. I can imagine an evening with a full household of at least 5 including the
little girl. She has retreated to her place of tranquil and serenity.
The rooftop water

  • 2. Juvenile Crime And Crime Rates Juvenile crime is one of the nation s most serious problems. Concerns about it are generally broadcasted by federal, state, and local government officials and by the public. In years prior, the burden developed beginning with the dramatic rise in juvenile violence in the eighties reaching an all time peak in the first part of the nineties. Even though juvenile crime rates seem to have lowered since the mid nineties, the reduction has not eased the concern. Many states began taking strict statutory stances toward juveniles in the late seventies and early eighties. This was an era in which juvenile crime rates were steady or dropping slightly, while federal reformers were commending prevention and less disciplinary actions. Some of the conflict between the federal program and what was happening in the states at that time may have been initiated by substantial changes in legal measures that made juvenile court procedures more similar, however not equal to those in adult (criminal) court. The reaction to the most recent spike in vicious juvenile crime has been a portrayal of laws that uphold blurred differences between juvenile courts and adult courts. Some states continued to strengthen their juvenile crime laws over the years first by making sentencing more severe, two by increasing allowable transfers to criminal court, or doing away with some of the discretion protections of juvenile court. Many such changes were enacted after the juvenile violent crime rate had already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Hamlet Madness In Hamlet When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact, feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware that he is only pretending that to be mad. I want to take out any proof that his madness isn t real. The argument for legitimate madness is always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies ... • 5. Difference Between Alland And Alice In Wonderland After reading Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and then watching the Disney movie Alice in Wonderland, I found that there were a couple of main plot differences. A main plot difference was that the poem the Caterpillar asked Alice to Recite was different in the book than it was in the movie. In the movie, Alice recited a poem titled How Doth the Little Crocodile, and in the book she recites the poem titled You Are Old, Father William. The Caterpillar is also portrayed much meaner throughout the movie compared to the book. At the end of the book, Alice woke up her sister and told her about the dreams that she had. It turned out that the sister also dreamt something very similar. In the movie though, Alice had woken up her parents. I feel that the meaning between the two different poems that are read aloud by Alice are very different. One being more a story to follow and the other being a short riddle to solve. Each of them are important, but in a movie context, I feel that the short riddle is a little easier to follow. Wonderland is not supposed to make much sense, so if the riddle confuses the viewer, they are able to think that it is just another silly part of Wonderland. The Caterpillar was not the nicest character to Alice throughout the book, but after watching the movie I realized that that was probably the nicest the author could have made him. The movie producers had him be awfully mean to Alice. I think that Alice waking up to tell her sisters is a better way to end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Counseling Characteristics My Personal Counseling Characteristics Capuzzi, Stauffer, and Gross (2016) highlighted the existence of core conditions identified throughout the counseling literature and research as an essential piece of the therapeutic relationship (p. 8). Possessing and demonstrating these characteristics and behaviors strengthen the helping alliance and aid in effectiveness as a counselor when guiding the client to achieve optimal wellness (Capuzzi et al., 2016). The following narrative outlines characteristics and behaviors emphasized as strengths necessary when developing a therapeutic alliance with a client and those acknowledged as potential challenges or weaknesses hindering the development of a therapeutic alliance. Additionally, explanations are discussed for selected strengths and challenges as well as strategies to address challenges and weaknesses. An Area of Strength Warmth as a core concept essential to the helping relationship is regarded as the counselor s ability to convey genuine caring and concern to clients (Capuzzi et al., 2016, p. 11). Without this ability to convey warmth as a counselor, the counseling process will not be effective, especially as I believe warmth is essential to building rapport and promoting an environment in which clients feel comfortable disclosing intimate details of their lives. In A Clockwork Orange, ultra violence plays a key role in the overarching theme and tension within the novel and its Stanley Kubrick s 1972 adaptation of the same name. The act of violence is paired with use of classical music which incorporates happiness and pleasure with the act of evil. Also, if his phone is able to be hacked, there may be sensitive information that could be leaked to the world, which could cause major issues with national security. • 13. Summary Of Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar In Sylvia Plath s autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar, Plath journeys through the mental deterioration and reconstruction of Esther Greenwood. Sylvia Plath, college educated and highly independent when she was a young adult in the fifties, was often described as the girl who wanted to be God. (Barnard) Plath always had a passion for English and writing, and in most of her works, she exhibits dark and unnerving themes. Assumingly, this dark tone is derived from her father s death and cruel departure from her beloved home near the sea when she was eight years old. Plath also had to surmount her constant repression of personality as people, men in particular, criticized her for being too brainy . While being a renowned author, Plath is most known for her abstract poems and novels that showcase intellectual and deranged topics. (Barnard). The Bell Jar is no exception to this standard. Much like Plath herself, Esther Greenwood is depressed and has a cool and detached manner. Esther s mental state, or lack thereof, is diminished by doubtful attitudes of others and finally rebuilt through the trusting and deserved therapy of Doctor Nolan. The novel narrated Esther s downward spiral as she goes from able bodied and healthy to detached to suicidal and, finally, to her recovery. As Esther s city based internship is coming to an end, Esther begins feeling inadequate and unhappy. As her depression deepens, coddling and condescending people send Esther into a negative spiral. Also, cities that have already been established can improve safety areas for evacuation times. This will allow citizens the ability to gather their things and move to safety by avoiding lava flow. These maps, when used correctly, will save numerous lives, and save an incredible amount of money for cities and its citizens. Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines is a prime example of the success of GIS technology. Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991. While this eruption was catastrophic, there were thousands of lives, and millions of dollars saved because of GIS. This was due to the ability of geologist seeing the warning signs of activity which led them to start mapping areas that were going to be unsafe. Once the areas were mapped the information was turned over to officials and the military, and evacuations were given out. The areas that had a high chance of having rocks and other debris land were evacuated first as well as the U.S. military moving to a safe location. At this time, the total sales will be 1, 371, 992 in 2012, and 2, 316, 675 in 2013. However, according to SLP 3 that would mean that the company would have to reduce the production volume to achieve default run profitability. On the other hand, if the company increases the cost of X6 tablet to $450 and R D to 40% it would mean that the customers pay the same for the tablet as they pay for other competing tablets in the market. In that case, it would call for a decision on the side of the customer based on their loyalty for them to purchase the tablet. In so doing, the organization will register a sale volume of $1, 854, 036 in 2014 and $2, 337, 247 in 2015. If the company will increase the price further to $470 and increase R D to 45%, then tablet X6 will be less expensive for customers to buy than competing tablets. With that change, the company will make sales of 2, 337, 247 in 2014 and 1, 180 751 in 2015. The reason for the decline will be because the product will have reached the shakeout stage where the number of new customers will progressively decline (Calvin, 2002). In Anne Marie Slaughter s essay Why Women Still Can t Have It all, Slaughter wants to incorporate her professional success and family to have a balanced life. Slaughter is the president and CEO of the New American Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute and has worked as director of policy planning for the U.S. State Department. Slaughter is concerned about not being a supportive mother to her children because of work issues. Her career requires her to work for long periods of time while juggling reports and writing commentaries on drafts, leaving little room to spend time with her family. I agree that working in a high position job can have a negative effect on how most women view their success because they are constantly working without being able to put their energy to something they value family. Slaughter has two teenage boys who need her attention, especially since her 14 year old son is misbehaving in school. She receives calls in Washington, D.C. during work, but her son lives in New Jersey and there was not much she could do. While working in Washington, D.C., she is only able to come home on the weekends and for two teenage boys spending time with their mother only on the weekends is not enough. • 22. Essay about The Price of Diamonds Is Too High Statement: The price of diamonds is too high. The diamond cartel is the most successful and long lasting cartel in history. The cartel created a scarcity for diamond and stabilized the prices at a high level. This essay will be discussing the validity of the statement with reference to the market of the diamond industry, history of the diamond cartel, how the price of diamonds is determined, and the implications thereof. A cartel is a group of firms acting together...to limit output, raise prices, and increase economic profit. Therefore, the discovery of diamonds resulted in an overall decrease in the price and value of diamonds. Rhodes saw the diamond cartel as a solution to this problem. Rhodes used the cartel to limit the supply of diamonds to the actual demand, thereby stockpiling the excess supply. De Beers not only controlled the market in South Africa, but they also expanded their holdings to other parts of the world, such as, England and Israel. (Epstein, 1982:1) By 1929, when Sir Oppenheimer took control of De Beers, the transition between the actual mining to the distribution, which is controlled by the Central Selling Organizing (CSO), became centrally controlled. (Spar, 2006:197 198) By analysing the definition of monopoly, which ...is the exclusive right of a person, corporation or state to sell a particular commodity (Lerner, 1934:157), we can deduce that the diamond industry is a single price monopoly; in other words, De Beers created its own barriers to prevent others from entry by obtaining control of the supply of diamonds (Parkin et al., 2013:273) and selling at the same price to all its customers (Parkin et al., 2013:275). Since by definition, a monopoly consists of one entity, a monopolist has complete control of the supply of the commodity; therefore, it has market power and, thus, has the ability to control the prices. • 23. Pynchon’s Vision of America in The Crying of Lot 49 Essay First published in 1965, The Crying of Lot 49 is the second novel by American author Thomas Pynchon. The novel follows Oedipa Mass, a young Californian housewife, after she unexpectedly finds herself named the executrix of the estate of Californian real estate mogul, and ex boyfriend, Pierce Inverarity. In reflecting on their history together, Oedipa recalls how her travels with Pierce helped her acknowledge, but not overcome, the poignant feeling that she was being held paralyzed and isolated from the world (and others) within a staid, middle class existence by some invisible and nefarious external force. Moreover Oedipa struggles to understand why Pierce would name her the executor of his will considering her deep ignorance of finance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To assess this vision of an American society heading towards stasis developed in The Crying of Lot 49, one must first discuss the concept of entropy. Broadly speaking, entropy refers both to the level of disorder and uncertainty in a system. The concept originates from thermodynamics, where it is used to describe the thermal energy in heat engine that is unavailable to be converted into work (i.e. transferred through a change in form or location). The second law of thermodynamics stipulates that within a self contained system like a heat engine, the aggregate measure of entropy must remain the same or increase over time because with no external energy inputs, the system s net energy flow gradually subsides as the gaps between its higher and lower energy particles decrease through the transfer of heat as they interact. This diminishing gap between particle energy levels, denoted in part by a stabilization in temperature and phase state (e.g. solid, liquid, or gas), reflects the system s progression towards a state of thermodynamic equilibrium, or maximum entropy, where particles regress into towards a uniform set of characteristics and inertness as the net energy flow grows infinitesimal. In moving towards equilibrium the system also becomes increasingly disordered because in losing their distinctiveness particles become fungible, rendering attempts to impose order and coherence on the system by drawing relations and distinctions between ... • 24. Music Can Affect Human Behavior Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information. One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However, the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied. Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold, Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension (Fagen et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During our interview, I quickly learned that in the Philippines many people believe that certain illnesses are believed to have a natural origin. This did not come as abnormal. The Philippine tradition has been influenced by Indians, Chinese, Arabians, Spanish, Mexicans and American belief systems (Poces Poces, 2004). In addition, it is a common belief that illness is caused by spiritual as well as moral imbalances. Although, the policy of import substitution has resulted in the promotion of industries oriented towards the domestic market by using import restrictions, through high tariffs, quantitative restrictions, overvalued exchange rates, to encourage the replacement of imported consumer and manufactured goods by domestic products but it was also observed that domestic industries growing behind protective tariff walls had no incentive to become efficient in production. In addition to giving a brief background on Just In Time inventory system s benefits, the article s main focus is the risks that JIT systems face. Just In Time inventory (JIT) is part of a production system whereby a firm vastly reduces inventory from its production processes so that utilization of production inputs and delivery of finished products are accomplished without incurring significant holding costs. Shipping the same quantity of a product to different retail outlets, for example, might not make much sense if the demand for that good is significantly greater at one location relative to another. This approach to delivery cost savings also facilitates decreases in aforementioned holding costs by not overstocking certain locations with a product. The same principle holds for inputs in production; parts are not delivered and held at production centers where they might lay idle. Some positive externalities may also result from a firm s decision to implement a JIT system. Suppliers of such a firm, for example, might then be able handle larger orders but fulfill them with smaller shipments. That is to say that for any given order size, supplying a customer that utilizes JIT is typically easier to do because individual shipments tend to be smaller for these customers and thus tend to be less demanding of the supplier. So it might be possible for suppliers, merely by the nature of their customers JIT system, to greatly expand their ability to fill larger orders without having to increase production capacity. Several factors, however, make JIT systems a risky proposition. A key concern here is the extent to which firms are dependent upon particular suppliers under such an inventory system. For example, if a firm were to commission a highly proprietary product to a single supplier (single suppliers being common in JIT), a JIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It features clean lines, impressive symmetry, a clean color pallet, and many other aesthetically pleasing elements. These elements work together to create a building that Milwaukee is proud of. It is positioned in a prime position on Wisconsin Avenue, and is also rite on the lakefront. This placement makes the building viewable to museum visitors, lakefront visitors, and commuters alike, making the structure an even more important part of Milwaukee. The importance is highlighted through its impressive aesthetic. The beautiful architecture features an elegant pedestrian bridge, a grand entrance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It functions as a multipurpose space. Some of its uses are the grand entry to the museum, a temporary exhibit space, a brunch area, an art fair space, and a wedding venue. No wonder it has so many uses, with 90 foot glass ceilings and a magnificent view of the lake, it is truly a grand space that extends beyond its walls. All of the glass lets in a magnificent amount of natural light. The lake is framed with large arched windows, and the floors are beautiful white marble. The walls are entirely white, and the ceiling is made of giant windows with white metal frames that slope up to a point. This follows the overall clean and futuristic look of the museum, as it is an architectural feature rarely seen in buildings today, and it is almost surreal when you look at it in person. The windows themselves are not square, and their frames appear to be slanted at angles similar to the unique tangents of the suspension bridge. All of the windows appear to be custom to their placement, none exactly like the other. This contributes to the futuristic look of the building, making it appear surreal from both inside and out. A feature of this room that is most noticeable from the outside its front looks like the bow of a ship. This ties the museum to the lake. It looks as though it could sail off in the night, a beautiful translucent vessel. Overall, Windhover Hall is an impressive space that wows visitors. With it s high ceiling, beautiful floors, and interesting shape, it is a memorable piece of the architecture. It is an important piece that rounds out the building, intensifies its modern look, and makes the structure feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a celebrious company and highly praised by consumers and it s critics for innovative technology; revolutionizing communication and interaction as well as completing objectives whether for school, work or leisurely use. The company is generally known for it s wide range of products from iPhones to MacBooks and many more. It is a forerunner in the computer hardware, software and electronics industry. Apple is an incorporation, meaning they have declared themselves as a corporate entity separate from it s owners. I would recommend this type of business practice because of it s benefits. Some benefits of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies liabilities, the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective transfer of ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate rather than on personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective bubble around the company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners. Hence, business structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable recommendation. B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their internal. macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key components the number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the company. Apple has well over 100,000 employees. • 40. Analysis Of The Article Some Lessons From The Assembly Line The article Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma is a rollercoaster ride that takes the reader through the lessons that taught him to take nothing for granted. This is accomplished by primarily showing the reader the life of an assembly line worker, but then will take jumps to show the life he has at college. To take nothing for granted seems like such a simple and common lesson that it really should be known by people long before they start working. This however is not the case as Braaksma does a great job of telling his readers that even he did not have this down. His own life lessons told throughout the article put it all in perspective and gave him the full grasp in the idea. The main claim of Some Lessons From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lesson Braaksma taught is a great one that needs a little bit of examination to become even clearer and greater. It goes from reading about school to the factory and back again. The highs and lows will shift back and forth as well to help strengthen his points creating that perfect puzzle. With just lows, the reading would be boring, and with just highs, everything would seem to be a main point, even when it is not. Which is why the money, the factory life, and even the end are perfect highs. To take nothing for granted is to become a better person. It gives a better perspective on everything. Taking something for granted will only show greed or self entitlement which could lead to sadness or even anger. For instance, if one takes clean water for granted, they will always expect it, or not be thankful enough for how important it is. If they do not take it for granted than they will be thankful for a glass of clean water as they will realize it will not always be there. Taking nothing for granted is a simple and important, but often missed lesson that a lot of people may need to learn. • 41. Essay Effective Mediation 1. Introduction The practice of settling human conflicts through intermediaries has had a rich history in Western and non Western cultures and therefore a broad range of forms and functions. The conflicting parties in most of the societies and at all stages of social interaction have had access to external actors to whom they approach when they come to the conclusion that they are incapable to handle their different opinions by themselves. In this case, an ordinary response to identify contradictions in objectives and values be tween adversaries is to enter into a process of negotiation in order to achieve an agreement on such differences, which is mutually acceptable. In consequence, negoti ation seems to be a universal, human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A special research field in the mediation literature intends to shed light on the question, how influential the impact of mediator s characteristics and motivations on the mediation process is. Concerning the state of research, the studies of this debate show a divergent picture. There are scientists who have queried the significance of mediator s impartiality (Bercovitch/Houston 1996; Kydd 2003, Touval 1982; Zartmann/Touval 1996). Scholars like Saadia Touval have underpinned that mediators are often biased and can perform their tasks just as well if not better as impartial mediators. Additionally, Touval and Zartmann stated in their study that mediation is an exercise in power politics: leverage is the ticket to mediation (Touval/Zartmann 1989: 129). In 2003, Kydd finds that mediators use their leverage to one of the two conflicting parties and therefore constraint concessions. Thus, the mediator must be biased to be effective. This means that merely a mediator who is biased towards one side can credibility tell them that the opponent will not make peace without the concession. Carnevale and Arad (1996) also remarked the importance of bias. Nevertheless, they suggest that impartiality should not be underestimated and therefore be taken in to consideration. However, there are a few practitioners who claim that the honest mediator must, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Model Minority Myth Of Asian Americans The Model Minority Myth The model minority stereotype suggests that Asian Americans as a group are achieving a higher level of academic, economic, and social success than the overall American population (Hartlep, 2013; Tran Birman, 2010). This stereotype is very much engrained in the American culture today; however, such acceptance does not reflect the whole truth. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, 52.4% of Asian Americans over the age of 25 have a bachelor s degree or higher, compared to only 29.9% of the total population and 30.3% of non Hispanic White Americans, signifying higher overall educational attainment for this group (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). However, this high number failed to consider the differences within the Asian population with some subgroups having educational levels that are significantly below the national average. The 2010 U.S. Census also reported that Asian Americans have a significantly higher annual family income than any other racial groups in the country, though it failed to mention that Asian American families tend to be larger with more family members that are contributing to that high annual income number (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). How the model minority stereotype can negatively impact the overall educational experience for the Asian American students is not adequately explored at this time (Museus, 2008). • 47. Analysis Of A Quick Nap and the outside world begin? ; Where and when do you most enjoy the quality of light in your home ; Have you ever been in transit between two homes? These questions get viewers thinking about connections to their own experiences, and also serve as a summary of the label itself. One of the art pieces that were being focused on was Walter Henry Williams oil on canvas painting, A Quick Nap . His piece titled A Quick Nap stood out to me along my browse throughout the museum. Its interesting color scheme grabbed me; I believed there was a tale to the story. The lightly glossed, oil painted canvas depicts a little girl dozing by the red railing of a fire escape above the city streets. The little girl is seen to be resting her head on her right hand, napping. Walter Williams contrasts the curves of the girl s soft pink dress with the hard grid of the ironwork and straight lines of the window that reflects similar fire escapes across the street. A rooftop water tower is outlined against the haze of the evening sky, and a skylight punctures the roof below. The fire escape became more than an emergency exit in a burning building. It is used for everything from outdoor to dining to sleeping and gardening, opening up the home to the surrounding city like a porch in the sky or private get away . I gazed at the little girl in the foreground; the reflecting glass in the mid ground, and the evening sky in the background. The painting is sized at about 24 inches by 30 inches. While observing this painting, several questions came to mind, like a bulb became lit. Questions about the sky, the dress, the sun, the reflection in the door, and the rooftop water tank were formed in my mind. I even wondered where Williams was while observing. The pink dress being worn by the little girl appears to have the softest color, it is light cool and comfortable, which is most compelling and contrasting being the only curves in the frame. The sun is low in the skyline showing the time of day, possibly early evening and at the same time sets the tone for the artwork. I can imagine an evening with a full household of at least 5 including the little girl. She has retreated to her place of tranquil and serenity. The rooftop water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
