Vertical Structure
Courtney, your discussion board post covered all of the questions thoroughly and accurately. The
exchange of information among organizational employees is vital for an organization to succeed
(Cabrera Cabrera, 2002). In reference to your analysis of shared information, you correctly pointed
out how the structure, tasks, strategy, and culture of performance and learning organizations are
very different from one another. The performance organization is designed with a chain of
command or hierarchy (Daft, 2013). The vertical structure makes the organization more rigid or
inflexible than the loose or flexible culture found in a learning organization. According to Daft
(2013), vertical linkages are not sufficient for most organizations today (p. 133). A performance
organization with a vertical structure is typically focused on... Show more content on

However, it is interesting that you believe non profit managers do not need to pay more attention
to stakeholders than business managers do. It is true that non profit organizations are not
organized for the sole purpose of making money, but non profit organizations are still required to
pay employee salaries and other business expenses. In other words, non profits are still
accountable to their respective stakeholders. Marshall and Woodward (2004) postulate that, It
would also be reasonable to speculate that the number of stakeholders that a non profit
organization must take into account is greater than for profit organizations (p. 101). Your
statement that non profits should be managed in a way which places ethics or the needs of others
ahead of a profit is correct. However, non profit managers must find a balance between the needs
of others and the organization s need for positive cash flow. Many non profits would not exist
without the support of their stakeholders. Non profits need to pay as much attention to their
stakeholders as for profit businesses

Analysis Of Passing By Nella Larsen
the novel Passing, Nella Larsen explores the consequences and disadvantages of two African
Americans living in a segregated society. The reconnection between Irene Redfield and Clare
Kendry illustrates two different paths in regards to how they portray themselves in their own
community. Larsen displays Clare Kendry as a light skinned women who tolerates her husband s
racial comments in order to live in a higher society. Clare s decision to secretly hide her racial
background because of the desire of wanting to be accepted by individuals of an upper social class
greatly affects Irene. Clare s determination of overcoming racial barriers by passing as a white
individual is similar to the Rhinelander/Jones case. In 1924 the son of the wealthiest families in
New York married the daughter of a taxicab driver. However, Leonard Rhinelander appealed to
have is marriage annulled due to believing his wife to be white when he married her (135).
Rhinelander suspected Alice Jones was hiding her racial background by passing as a white
individual. As the trial progressed it was concluded that that Rhinelander had an understanding of
her racial background before marriage was an option between the two. The Rhinelander/Jones case
demonstrates how Clare Kendry decided to pass as a white individual in order to obtain wealth and
social status by marrying a white male. The three criticism texts chosen demonstrates how racial
passing between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry contributes to social status.
In Nella Larsen s Passing: A Problem of Interpretation, Claudia Tate argues that raceis not the
novels foremost concern, but is merely a mechanism for setting the story in motion (344). Tate s
decision to focus on the psychological ambiguity (343) of the novel forbids her to elaborate on
the relation between race and social class. As a result, I disagree with certain statements from
Tate s argument due to the lack of acknowledging the issue regarding race and social class. Tate
initially claims that Irene s understanding of race becomes a concern when the impending
exposure of Clare s racial identity threatens to hasten the disruption of Irene s domestic security
(Tate 344). However, Irene s fear of being spotted as a

Analysis Of A Day Without A Mexican
Imagine that one day, all of the Hispanic population just disappeared from the face of the earth,
nowhere to be seen or found. The film, A Day Without a Mexican had that same plot, where the
whole Hispanic population in California disappeared into thin air when a weird and mysterious fog
surrounded the state (Artenstein Arau, 2004). The film may had taken a humorous and satirical
approach to the topic of Mexican immigrants and the overall treatment of the whole of the Hispanic
population, but every joke that was made in the movie echoed the same problems and concerns
that exist in reality. The film addressed many of the stereotypes and racism that surround the
Hispanic and Mexican populations. The film also made apparent just how important Mexicans
and Hispanics are to all aspects of society. Lastly, the film even attempts to cover what exactly
makes someone a Mexican or Hispanic. One of the major stereotypes about Mexicans and
Hispanics that was addressed was how all Hispanics must be Mexican (Artenstein Arau, 2004).
Every time a character was seen as Hispanic they were assumed to be Mexicans. This assumption
could mostly be seen with the character Lila Rodriguez, the news reporter. Lila Rodriguez, before
anyone knew about her actual origins, was an American citizen, and not Mexican or a Mexican
immigrant. However, Lila did admit that she was Hispanic origin. Still, her colleagues and many of
the other characters in the film still believed that she was a

Into The Wild Rhetorical Analysis
Nonconformity allows people to go against a prevailing rule so that they may do as they please.
QuoteCommentary ...the hypocrisy of his parents lifestyle, the tyranny of their conditional love.
Eventually, Chris rebelled and when he finally did it was with characteristic immoderation
(64).The beginning of this excerpt shows Chris disapproval of his parent s way of life. He uses
the phrase tyranny of their conditional love, to imply that he wants to escape their oppressive rule.
This relates to the theme of nonconformity because in the end Chris rebels and refuses to give in to
his parents. He left them and went into the wild, giving away his college fund to OXFAM and
refusing to accept the new car his parents offered him. Alex demonstrates nonconformity by

his distaste for material things in burning his money because now he cannot buy the things in life

Physics Of The Accident Investigation
Based on the annual global road crash statistics, nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes
each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among
young adults ages 15 44. The top causes of vehicular accidents are distracted driving, speeding,
drunk driving, reckless driving and many more. Having said that, investigations are needed to be
able to analyze the causes of the accident. In such cases, it cannot be denied that science is directly
involved to fully know the extent and circumstance of an accident. Therefore, it is sufficient to say
that specifically, physics, as science, plays an important role in police investigations. Furthermore, it
can be said that policemen are accountable to utilize physics in their investigations. Investigations
begin by surveying the accident site. To be able to apply Physics into the accident investigations,
the first step must involve getting data from the environment and accident site. As such, necessary
variables must be first obtained to be able to apply certain Physics concepts into the investigation.
Variables can be in the form of (1) primary observations and (2) measurement variables and
evidences from the accident or crashsite. First, to be able to explicate the needed information to
apply Physics concept, police investigators must first obtain a basic viewpoint of the crash site.
Specific observations must be noted down to be able to complete the variables needed for Physics

Spanish and French Monarchial Beliefs
The palace of Versailles was built by Louis XIV of France (1643 1715), and the Escorial was
built by Philip II of Spain (1556 1598). By examining the aerial and frontal facades of these two
palaces, it may be seen that there were many similarities and differences between the two kings
perception and practice of monarchy. Each king set his own goals for his life, and concluded as to
how a monarch ought to behave. Both Louis XIV and Philip II had religious duties to pay attention
to, organized the distribution of power in their respective kingdoms, communicated with other
countries and entities through war and diplomacy, raised militaries, and made plans for the
expansion of their own beliefs, thoughts and practices. Aside from these... Show more content on

Louis XIV preferred to delegate power to new nobles, or affluent bourgeois who had recently
received their noble status from the king. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet
had enough time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Philip
II, however, did not diversify the existing hierarchy of power, but embraced it. Upon the building
of the Escorial, many new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger
bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial.
This shows Philip II s embrace of the existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of
Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the church a significant part of his chateau, therefore
removing most of the internal persuasion from the clergy. (Even if there was a large religious
influence at Versailles, by the Pragmatic Sanction of Bourges (1438), the В‘Galician church was
politically independent from the Holy See.) br br Louis XIV and Philip II had some similar and
some different methods for handling foreign affairs. Louis XIV deployed the French army
against many different peoples, being always at war or preparing for war in order to keep peace
at home, and war abroad. Philip II also deployed his armies against various people, however, he did
so in order to expand the boundaries of Catholicism. Concerning diplomatic relations, Louis XIV

Explaining Why Biological Warfare Cannot be Explained with...
The purpose of this essay is to explain why it will be a problem to explain biological warfare with
the SCOT theory, actor network theory and technological systems theory.
Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) is a theory that was introduced by Weiber Bijker that
explains the link between social and technical processes of a technology or artifact. Bjiker argued
that technology is shaped by human engineers, market forces, consumer s needs and demands. In
SCOT, technology is a social construction. Because technology is socially constructed, it involves
flexibility of interpretations, stabilization and closure.
Biological warfare cannot be explained by SCOT theory because stabilization and closure which is
the cornerstone of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the components of technological systems are physical artifacts, such as biological weapon
agents, aerosols, milling machines, microscopes. Technological systems also include organizations
such as terrorist groups, governments and manufacturing laboratories. Legislative artifacts such as
treaties and protocols can also be part of technological systems. Overtime, technological systems
tend to join environmental factors into the system eliminating uncertainty ( free market ). They are
goal oriented: reordering of the material world to make it more productive. As technological
systems develop after a long period acquire momentum which makes the system have more
influence on society it will begin to shape society.
The reason technological systems concept will be unable to explain biological warfare is because
Hughes assumed that the society can resist the momentum of a technology if they act earlier. In
the production and use of biological weapons, the majority of the public are outsiders therefore,
even if the society is aware of biological weapon technology in its early stage, their voice would not
have any influence on the technology compared to the insiders (experts like microbiologists and
organizations).

communities (Core Values). Tyson is a large corporation having grown a lot over the years and for
their CSR initiatives they have many that deal in different areas from the environment to even

their company. Tyson provides many services that all have an effect on communities, the
environment, and even children which is what their CSR strategies focus on (Sustainability). They

can afford to implement this initiative. Sustainability comes into play because Crayola as a
company wants to provide a cleaner environment for children and their moms, which are their
main market. Globalization does not have much of a hand in this, but the program did reach
across the country. Media played a role by providing the public with figures and results about the

Skilled Immigration Controversy
The discourse on skilled immigration revolves around the controversial H 1B worker visas, the
largest visa program for temporary, skilled immigration to the United States, and the level of the
annual cap of such visas. Proponents pushing to raise the annual visa cap, argue that there exists a
shortage of domestic laborsupply in certain industries. Moreover, these workers enable firms to
compete globally by raising their competitiveness, growth, and innovation. Critics of skilled
immigration, however, argue that skilled immigrants are not necessarily skilled, and that the
principle use of the H 1B visas is for firms to minimize their labor costs, which has the effect of
undercutting native wages, and displacing native workers.
The H 1B program grants temporary work visas to workers in specialty occupations, most
commonly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Firms must pay
substantial fees to apply for a worker, and the worker is tied to the firm for the length of their visa
(the initial length being three years). Law requires that H 1B workers be paid the prevailing wage
for the job in the firm or the geographic region where the person is employed as to discourage

The question of whether there is a shortage of skilled labor supply cannot be accurately determined
given the current visa system and the agendas of firms. Since applications of the visas are not
accepted once the cap is reached, there is no exact information on the demand. Furthermore, firms
could be incentivized to hire skilled immigrants to minimize costs rather than the claimed
performance benefits, biasing any data collected. Whether aggregate benefits outweigh the potential
losses from the crowding out of native workers and their lower wages depend on the methodologies

The Disadvantages of Standardized Testing Essay
Standardized tests are exams that are supposed to measure a child s academic knowledge but have
long been a controversial subject of discussion. Although it is one method to see how a child is
performing, is it the best method? Standardized testing can be biased or unfair, inhibit both the
teacher s and the children s creativity and flexibility, affect funding for schools, cause untested
subjects to be eliminated from the curriculum, and cause anxiety for children and teachers.
Standardized tests can also be biased or unfair because questions on these tests necessitate
understanding and abilities that typically children from advantaged families have (Kohn, A, 2000).
Children who live in poorer communities have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times children who are held back do not improve educationally, become emotionally hurt
from being retained, lose interest in school, and are more likely to be a drop out (Fair Test,
2007). Standardized tests take away from a teacher s flexibility and creativity. With that in mind,
teachers do not fit into the same mold either. Each teacher has their own style of teaching and
should be given the flexibility to teach in a way that will inspire their students. Teachers are not
able to be as creative in their teaching styles, when focused on test preparation. Many talented
teachers leave the field of education when they lose the freedom to teach their own way. Teaching
has gone from a creative art to a structured implementation as the focus shifts to standardized tests.
Children are no longer encouraged to be creative in the test prep environment. Instead, they are
being taught to perform well on standardized tests and are labeled as unintelligent if they don t.
Young children are born with creativity and we see that when they are playing and pretending.
According to Sir Ken Robinson, in Slon s (2013) article, by the time they get to be adults, most kids
have lost that capacity to be creative. The fundamentals of creation and experimentation are not part
of the standardized testing mechanism. Not every teacher teaching the same subject is going to
emphasize the same area of that subject because each teacher has a different

If you are Canadian you will understand that the years in which I lived in the province of Quebec
were filled with great turmoil; if you are American, you probably will not understand. At the center
of this turmoil was the question of language and, more specifically, culture French culture and what
it means, versus English culture and what it does not mean. Essentially, people were split up into
groups: English in one, French in another, and everyone else in one final lump.
Here s what I knew during my time of Canadian residence: To be French was to be lesser than. I
was most certainly not a frog. I was not a Pepsi; I was a Coke. As well as I can decipher, the
derogatory term, Pepsi, came from the patate frite stands, lining the many back roads of rural
Quebec. Invariably, these stands owned by French people would feature a Pepsi sign.
So there you have it.
I was English speaking and proud of it, but the problem is that my grandmother spoke French.
Fluently. And she lived in a French community.
Though my mother swore there was no French in our precious blood, she and her own mother
would lapse into a patois of French and English when they were talking of things we should not

us. In my mind, the answer was simple: we all had to learn French in school anyway, so probably
that was where my mother s French had come

Citizens United V. Federal Election Commission
Money is a form of payment in America, money has little to much value. It can be seen as a coin
or as paper, which has been issued legally by the government. Money can be used in exchange for
certain things a person or group desires. With money in peoples hands, it can drive them to make
certain decisions with much power. People in politics use a form of money to pay for their beliefs
in the United Statesof America. For many years, elections have been organized based on privately
funded campaigns. When a candidate is running for presidency it becomes very expensive and
difficult to manage on their own. Therefore if the candidate is wealthy, their campaign is set to go

The case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was to regulate the spendings of
candidates campaign, but it failed to succeed. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in the case of Citizens
United v. Federal Election Commission. (Bentley, 2017) The case was ruled in favor of big
business donating private funds to campaigns. They argued because the first amendment protects
the right to speak of many corporations and unions, whether or not people see them as human,
therefore the are aloud to donate money to a candidate. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal
written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and
Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of
corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those
things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot
enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big
businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust,
therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of
America seems to avoid this. There is a clear problem with Citizens United being able to continue
donating money to candidates without giving them so much power. This can be stopped through a
constitutional amendment to strip away the corporations of their rights. (Bentley, 2017) By doing
this, there will be a very successful campaign for future candidates due to there being an equal
amount of money being distributed to them

Common Misconceptions Of The Health Community
Common misconceptions in the health community revolve around what the body needs versus
what media says the body needs. Are dietary supplements efficient? Are they even necessary? To
answer these questions, one must investigate the three most popular supplements herbal, pill, and
gel capsules in order to determine which type best suits the body s needs.
Although they are one of the most ancient practices of medicine, certain herbal supplements have no
impact on the body while others do. Herbs are a type of plant, but the stem of an herb is not as
hardy, [and does not have a] woody structure which makes herbs easy to consume ( Herbs ).
Because herbs do not have a woody structure they have the capacity to be consumed in various
ways. In the past herbs were consumed as tea, although this practice is still in effect; people
prefer consuming herbs via extractions. One of the most popular methods of extraction is the
whole herb method which asserts that all of a plant s compounds contribute to its ability to heal
and protect health [;] this method ensures that one receives the purest form of the natural herb
(Ogden). Purity is a standard that many companies swear by, and herbal companies are no
different. Herb Pham, for example, is a very popular liquid herbal supplement; liquid forms of
any type of remedy are known to be absorbed by the body quickest, but the companies research
shows that many of the types of herbs they sell have little to no effect on the body. One of the

Cosmetic Surgery In Australia Essay
Cosmetic Travelling
Cosmetic travelling is a massive risk on people from all around the world. Many people spend over
thousands and thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery even though there is a high chance of the
clinic and the surgeon being unprofessional. These unprofessional surgeons have caused many
deaths over these last years. Some deaths are caused from infections, reactions or from the product
used by the surgeons.
Firstly, people are spending so much money on cosmetic surgery. The surgery cost up to $7,000 to
$10,000 depending on the clinic and the type of surgery. Plus the accommodation, plane tickets,
food, etc. A recent report showed that Australians spend up to $300 million a year on cosmetic
surgery. There is a major difference between the cost of surgery in Australia and Thailand. For
example breast implants average around $10,000 in Australia and $4,000 in Thailand. For another
example a full abdominoplasty, tummy tuck and liposuction an Australian clinic was going to cost
around $30,000 dollars and Thailand was around $8,000. This shows that Australia is much more

Pablo Picasso s Influence On Art
Introduction Through the years art has been regarded as a form of communication, emotion, a
feeling or expression of ideas, by which we mean a person or convey something. This idea can be
captured in a painting, sculpture or even through writing, which through their expressions disclose
the most characteristic form of a culture. By century to century there has been many creative
persons like writer, artist, composer who contributed to development in the all creative fields. We
also had so many great visual artists who create greatest arts, music and books. Pablo Picassois one
of them, who took modern art at new level. He was one of well known artist in history .In fact, his
vision and distinct creative style, some of the most innovative pieces he introduced to the art world.
How does Pablo Picasso s famous art Guernica represents the history and society in his time?
Most of his creations represent history and society of his time. But Guernica, which Picasso
painted in response to tragedy and the loss of life, directly related to the Spanish civil war.
Guernica was one of the masterpieces created by Picasso, probably the 20th century s most
negative symbol of the horrors. It was a also signal for the terrors of the future. When the Nazi

categorized into which cells it effects such as B cell, T cell and NK cells (MD Cancer Center,
2015). B cell lymphoma represents the majority of non Hodgkin Lymphoma (85%) and of these
Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) represents about 5% of the type of B cell lymphoma (American
Cancer Society, 2015). According to the American Cancer Society, MCL is rare, common in men
in their later years (60s) and is a slow growing cancer (2015). The gentleman presented in this case

Roman Republic Vs Roman Kingdom
In the reading assignment, I have learned so many differences between the two classes in the
Roman societies that lead to so many revolts. After I finished reading the documents, I realized
that those revolts also made Rome became the strong power that it was. And I imagine that if
there were some people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those
societies. We have to be clear that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman
Republic and not the Roman Kingdom. The differences between those two are that the Roman
Kingdom had a Monarch government that means it was ruled by a king while the Roman
Republic was a free government. To be honest with you, I don t really understand the type of
government that the Roman Republic had because in some times, dictators were appointed,
Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. So, I don t really know this type
of government. As a free government, it is clear that people who are wealthy and had more
power would be more benefit in everything. I can qualify those people as the aristocrats. They
would group themselves to form a group of leaders to rule over the Republic. Here came the
creation of the two classes and the struggle between them. All over the world and... Show more

But, with their revolts, they obtained the same rights as the Patricians. There is one thing that keeps
my attention after I finished reading about the political equality of the Roman Republic. The
division between the two classes had caused the destruction of Rome by the Gaul and the Veil. The
differences made it weak and unprotected. References: William C. Morey. (1901). The Struggle for

The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz Essay
The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler is the tale of a young greedy boy
who feels that money is his path to happiness and pride. Duddy simply stomps all over his
friends and his family as well (to a certain extent). Richler feels unreserved sympathy towards
Duddy because, in essence, Duddy is Richler written down and diversified. Duddy is a character
based on Mordecai s own personality.
Duddy Kravitz is a crook, a blackmailer and a cheat. However, Duddy Kravitz is Richler s crook
and Duddy will never be abandoned. In The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, everyone but the
Richler himself shuns Duddy. The entire concept of the novel was for Duddy to learn an important
lesson, what makes someone significant. The following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Duddy s character is not often sympathized. However, Richler somehow finds a way to
incorporate compassion. Although the reader does not feel that he should be feeling for Duddy,
the way Richler writes makes the reader feel heartless. Even when the reader does not want to be
happy for Duddy, the written words indicate that a pride for Duddy should be present. For
example, even after all the harm Duddy has caused, the last lines in the book still point toward
happiness for the character. That s all right sir. We ll mark it. And suddenly Duddy did smile. He
laughed. He grabbed Max, hugged him, and spun him around. You see, he said, his voice filled
with marvel. You see. Right in that very sentence a sort of pride arose from the book to the reader
even though any reader with a conscience realizes that this is not something to be blissful about.
Duddy eventually does become someone of somewhat significance save for going about it in a
completely shameful way with partial reference above. Although Duddy is attempting to please
his grandfather, the way Duddy conducts himself to get to a position that would be gratifying to
his grandfather are appalling. Perhaps Richler had made comparable errors in his own youth.
This book is almost like a personal account of ones own self pity and reassurance. Richler definitely
has a major soft spot for Duddy (just as he does for

White Privilege in My Career Essay
Ms. McIntosh made a particularly resonant statement about halfway through her essay; my skin
color was an asset for any move I was educated to want to make. I have always been free to move
around the country, to make my own choices, own my independence and enjoy the freedom of
my liberation. Considerations she includes on her list of privileges never actively entered into my
decision making process. I was always able to find suitable housing and employment and
educational opportunities to advance myself in anyway I decided. This made me wonder if in fact
I had earned through merit and achievement all I believe I have to date.

Throughout my employment with the firm I never encountered a single employee who had
graduated from an undergraduate institute that was not a national or internationally ranked
university. This fact in and of itself may not seem biased, but this hiring criteria eliminated all
candidates from regional schools and local schools.
This elimination criteria alone can be imputed to have reduced the ethnic pool of candidates
substantially. The demographics of Tampa in 2010 were 26% black and 23% Hispanic and 46%
white. I was in high school during the 80 s, the demographics were more evenly distributed between
the three groups during that time. The increase in whites over the three decades is attributable
largely to intrastate migration. This makes it safe to assume that the number of whites
representative of Tampa in 1992 was somewhere between 33 46% of the total population.
The first hiring meeting I attended was held in an auditorium large enough to hold three hundred
people. My recollection of this first meeting is that the audience was fairly diverse, at least as
diverse as the University of South Florida student body, which was much less diverse than the city

An Organization Map Technology For Big Data
The internet has changed the ways in which data can be collected and more importantly, it has
changed the amount of data available (Grover, 2014). Social behaviors, networking behaviors and
information sharing are providing organizations with volumes of data and there is a need to be able
to understand, manage and define all of the information. This trend of voluminous data is known as,
big data. According to the International Journal of Computer and Electronics Research, in 2014,
there is no extensive reference architecture currently available for big data (Grover, 2014). Several
small scale data architectures exist, but most are limited in scope or missing the functional views
which help an organization map technology to function... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, information asymmetry is an issue for consumers and supply chains when interoperable
data does not align. This exists because one party (either the buyer or producer) has less than perfect
information than the other.
According to an article by Information and Technology Management, a great deal of information
asymmetry exists in the coffee supply chain. This article describes the data incompatibility between
small and medium coffee farmers, roasters, and traders. Producers (coffee farmers) are usually a
cooperative of many small farmers and being able to gather documentation to identify the source
and quality of the coffee is difficult (Sayogo, Zhang, Luna Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen,
Pardo, Andersen, 2015).
Many farmers believe the data collection is not valuable and waste of their time and effort for many
reasons. Including limited resources such as staff and technology, and information bias
(competition based on too much information about the supply). Furthermore, the entire process is
overly too difficult to perform in a uniformed way. Most important, this results in the farmers
incurring additional costs to ensure data collection that they may not see a profit for later (Sayogo,
Zhang, Luna Reyes, Jarman, Tayi, Lines Andersen, Pardo, Andersen, 2015).
Therefore, incorrect or assumed information is collected to the best of the producer s knowledge

Violent Media And Media Violence
There are various explanations for the causes of violence. This remains significant because
violence leads to many criminal activities in society today. For example, certain crimes such as
assault or robbery involve the use of violence because the victim is injured or harmed in a physical
way. The purpose of the study is to examine whether young adults who watch violent television
programs are more likely to possess violent attitudes, which promotes aggressive behaviour like
uttering threats or assault. This conveys that it s important to study the association between violent
media and violent attitudes because it provides insight towards the increasing crime rates that occur
in society. The rationale for conducting research on media violenceprovides explanations for the
occurrences of violent crimes because violent media is considered a significant factor for violent
attitudes, which leads to various types of violent crimes committed by adolescents and young
adults. Other significant studies have expressed their interest in the topic regarding the media s
influence on violence. The study The Influence of Media Violence on Youth examines whether
violent videogames increases the probability of individuals engaging in violent activities such as
uttering threats and physical assaults (Anderson et al., 2003). The research involves participants
such as children because they are more likely to be associated with violent media such as
videogames (Anderson et al., 2003).

was vastly advanced and influenced western civilization today. The first leader to unselfishly use
the political system of democracy, Pericles wanted to strengthen Greece influence around the

The Juggler Richard Wilbur Summary
In the poem, Juggler, Richard Wilbur incorporates the use of poetic devices such as imagery and
diction to allow the poem s speaker to describe the actions of a juggler that enlightens the moods of
the audience watching him, which the speaker is a part of. Through this analysis of the juggler it is
revealed that the speakerlives a mundane life.
The description of a ball is used to introduce the dullness of life to the speaker. A ball will
bounce, but less and less... Falling is what it loves, and the earth falls so in our hearts from
brilliance, Settles and is forgot (1 5). The choice of diction behind the words Bounce... less and

It takes a sky blue juggler with five red balls to shake our gravity up (6 7). These lines reveal that
in the dullness of life, the speaker and other individuals require a stimuli in order to get shaken up.
Through the use of alliteration and a play on words, imagery is created in the following lines.
Whee, in the air the balls roll round, wheel on his wheeling hands, Learning the ways of
lightness, alter to spheres Grazing his finger ends (7 10). The alliteration in the words Whee...
wheel... wheeling and the play on words of mentioning lightness shortly after gravity create the
image of the juggler defying gravity itself in order to entertain these run of the mill people. On a
further note, through the use of diction, the speaker describes the god like actions of the juggler.
Swinging a small heaven about his ears. But a heaven is easier made of nothing at all... still and
sole within... with a gesture sure and noble He reels that heaven in, landing it ball by ball (12 17).
The choice of the benevolent diction of heaven and noble shows that the speaker respects the
juggler for doing an action that is relatively simple but happens to amount the juggler to someone of
more power for entertaining the crowd. In lines

Plato s Dialogue Phaedo
In Plato s dialogue Phaedo, Socrates argues that there is a clear distinction between the body and
the soul. Socrates argues that the soul is invisible to human eyes and lives on forever after one s
death in order to seek wisdom. In contrast, the body s physical, mortal, and is a physical burden to
the soul. He believes that people should live their lives preparing for deathand separating their soul
from the substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly
separating itself from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical
ideas that Socrates argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. The Argument of Affinity is
about the distinction between the soul and the physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being
that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers.
Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to
seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the
entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He
thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise.
The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows
with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of
opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek
wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the
beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when
they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of
philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the
divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul
will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes
the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is
saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human
being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical
human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to
every single body because every human body

Happy Abortion Chapter 1 Summary
Erica Millar
Happy Abortions Our Bodies in the Era of Choice
Zed Books Ltd, London, UK, 2017. 339 pp. ISBN: 9781786991317
Abortion is commonly addressed in public discourse as a choice that women face with difficulty,
one that negatively marks their experience of femininity and may lead to painful, even traumatic
repercussions. Happy Abortions Our Bodies in the Era of Choice challenges this normative view
by revealing how specific emotions have evolved as common sense discourses of abortion,
reinforcing the cultural meanings through which abortion is evaluated and perceived, both by
women and their surrounding communities. Erica Millar addresses the ways in which emotions
concerning abortion manifest themselves in the rhetoric of choice , ... Show more content on

The following chapters address four dominant emotions through which abortion is conveyed.
Chapter 2 discusses the maternal happiness frame, perceiving women s happiness as only
achievable through motherhood, and thus positioning abortion as a choice that goes against women
s feminine nature . Chapter 3 explores foetocentric grief another prevalent emotion in abortion
discourses, that constructs pregnant women as mothers who go through the loss of their children.
Widely employed in political discourse, the book reveals the effects of this frame on abortion
policies and regulations. Chapter 4 examines the feeling of shame and the resulting silence that
veils the experiences of aborting women. Chapter 5 considers the presence of national interests in
population management and composition, whereby women are perceived not only as individuals,
but as national objects as well. In a Western context, the aborting white woman is viewed as a threat
to the supremacy of white culture, and as failing the nation by refusing to produce more (white)
citizens. Lastly, the book concludes with a call for an alternative approach that rethinks the
interpretations of pro choice discourses, one that does not depict women as uniform in experience,
as ahistorical and naturalised subjects but rather one that considers the broader context of abortion
issues, including power relations and social

Social Classes In Australia Essay
Evidence of social classes within societies can be seen throughout many different cultures and
countries. The social classes can be broken up into four categories, the Upper or Elite class
constituting approximately 1% of the population, the Middle class which accounts for around 60%
of the population dependent on the definition, the Working class which consists of approximately
30% of the population since the growth of the Middle classin recent decades and the Under or
Lower class accounting for the remaining 8% of the population (Carl et.al.,2012, p.41 45).

Significance Of The Globe Theatre
Elizabethan drama remains some of the most appreciated and world renowned to ever exist.
Despite its early foundation in the mid 16th century to early 17th century, plays from William
Shakespeare, Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe, almost five hundred years later are regularly
produced and performed to a modern audience. No dramatist, living or dead, has been more
frequently reprinted or performed, or translated into a greater variety of languages...Shakespeare in
performance is now reaching larger audiences than ever before in history . (S.Schoenbaum, 1979)
One of the main reasons for the longevity of Elizabethan theatrical success was the construction of
The Globe Theatrein 1599. With the construction of The Globe came notable improvements in
special effects, costumes, makeup and the size of audiences attending the performances.

The simplistic architecture throughout The Globe and its productions can be recognised as
another example of its lasting influence as this tradition remains within modern performances in
the 1997 Globe and its own construction. Theatrical innovation was quite creative with regards
to special effects and sound. These were managed by using fireworks, drums, and even firing
canons throughout the dramas. When Shakespeare wrote plays, all the action took place on a
small stage with little more than a painted wall to suggest the setting. If a scene called for
thunder, stagehands pounded a drum or rippled sheet metal. If a scene required a ghost or a god,
stagehands lowered him on a winch line or sent him up through a trap door. A character wounded
in a sword fight clapped a hand to his chest, bursting a pouch beneath his shirt to release blood or a

It is important to note that what is unethical is not necessarily illegal. In our everyday life, many
individuals and organizations faced with common ethical problems. There have been developments
in biology and cybernetics that lead to a comprehensive theory of morality in which the rational
nature of ethics can more easily be explained. Not only can the rise of ethical systems be linked to
biological concepts, but ethics can be tied to mathematical concepts as well by way of cybernetic
science. When ethics and cybernetics are combined, the resulting theory turns on scientific
principles instead of philosophical speculations. There are several important ideas linked to the
emergence of ethical systems:
Ethical systems evolve in response to the human need to survive in an environment where they are
competing with many other organisms for scarce resources;
Humans survive and flourish by efficiently using their resources and energies;
The evolution of ethical systems is a function of an ongoing cybernetic process involving all

I feel like Andre M. Fleche wrote, The Revolution of 1861: The American Civil War in the Age of
Nationalist Conflict to expand reader s knowledge and comprehension of nationalism occurring in
the Civil War during the nineteenth century, on a global spectrum. Andre Fleche wanted to inform
readers how the northern and southern disputes on race, social class and labor has been influenced
from other international events. One reason why Fleche wrote The Revolution of 1861 was to
prove that the pan European revolutions of 1848 were an influence on Americans contemplating the

1848 was an influential model for both the northern and southern sides competing national

One reason of this spread, was the fact that other countries were noticing Europe s independence
and they also wanted to establish their own nations and have freedom. A few topics that Fleche
discusses in his book are how in chapter one slavery was viewed as a threat in the advancement of
nation building plans in America, chapter two discusses how The Revolution of 1861 forced states
to choose a party, chapter three talks about problems in Northern Nationalism consisting of local

Timothy Tebow Reflection
Now, Timothy Tebow isn t a regular author, instead of telling non fiction stories, he worked to
write inspiring messages that uplifted the people around him ( Through). After he found
direction in his life again, he became so excited that he couldn t keep this wisdom to himself. So
how did he let the world know to never give up? In 2011 he released his first book titled Through
My Eyes ( Through). It would be in this book where Tebow would discuss everything about his
life in a very unique way. In Through My Eyes, Tebow would discuss everything about his life
up to that point, but that is not the main purpose of this story ( Through). It s within this
autobiography that he would discuss: religion, not giving up on life, how everyone is worth
more than they think, and to not give up on oneself when everyone else has ( Through). Tebow
would use his awesome literary skills to uplift and inspire everyone around him, rather than just
telling a simple story that not everyone may care about ( Through). It is in this manner that Tim
Tebow can gain a following where he can spread the good word of Jesus Christ and to let
everyone know that they are not alone in this world. In 2012, Tim Tebow was dropped by the
Jets and that was pretty much the end of his football career. For the next four years, Tebow would
go on to do missionary work to spread the word about his Lord and Savior. Along with this, he
would also make appearances on ESPN to do guest broadcasts and such.

Dbq On The Progressive Era
The Progressive ear, occurring between the years of 1890 to 1920 and was a reaction to the second
Industrial Revolution. Many progressives desired a limitation on the power of big businesses, an
improvement on the democracy of the people, and an increase in social equality among the people.
The progressive era was a time of enlightenment and reform for the United State, in that it
improved the quality of life through government regulation, muckraking, and conservation. During
the second Industrial Revolution, leaders of progressivism, such as Theodore Roosevelt began to
notice the effects of the United States advancing Industrial economy; concentration of corporate

President Theodore Roosevelt, a leader of progressivism was highly in favor for a reform at a
national level. He believed it was the governments duty to regulated businesses and improve the
life s of the people. While the second industrial revolution brought major industrial achievement it
also gave corporate bosses excessive amount of power, which they used to bend political parties
to their favor and progressives such as president Wilson hoped to rectify this(Document 2). During
this progressive movement many Americans focused on reform the country in ways that would
creating a limitation on major business, such as Rockefeller Standard Oil, that used a unfair
monopoly system to build their empire, which was damaging the economy. Roosevelt being the
first to take signification action on trust busting, such as passing the Hepburn Act which was
enacted in 1906 set a precedent for the power of the federal government. The Hepburn Act set a
maximum price for the freight rates on the railroads and it extended the reach of the Interstate
Commerce Commission to regulation of pipelines, freight companies, sleeping car companies,
bridges and ferries. During this period the federal government passed an incredible amount of
legislation that mainly regulated the problems in the society to provide a greater sense of
regulation and protection for the people. Problems such as overbearing freight prices, vile food
preparation and inconsistent economic status were issues that needed to be amended. Roosevelt
also focused of the conservation of natural resources to help further developed the nation land and it
s usefulness(Document 6). Anti trust acts, Federal Reserve Acts were also established to break
trusts to help improve market rates and improve the quality of life for the working class through
more regulations on businesses by the federal government. Roosevelt trust busting helped

Superbowl Essay
The Story of The NFL Shop Family The Superbowl is one of the most widely watched television
events in the nation every year. Unlike many other sporting events, the Superbowl is not
watched by fans of the sport alone, but by just about anyone with access to a television. Growing
up, my brother was the only avid sports fan in the house, but every year the whole family would
crowd around the TV to watch The Superbowl. My brother excluded, we did this not out of real
interest for the sport of Football, but because we wanted to see all of the brand new (and
hopefully emotionally arousing) commercials that air during the Superbowl. Through the years,
the Superbowl has actually become known for this aspect. Recently certain websites have even
began holding an annual ranking for the best and worst Superbowl commercials each year.
Though I wasn t particularly interested in the Superbowl last year, one commercial still stands
out to me almost eight months later. It is a commercial for nflshop.com, and it seems to convey
the story of a family that begins as Vikings fans but over time expands into a family of Vikings,
Bengals, Eagles, Steelers, and Cowboys fans. Depending on the viewer s perspective on the
commercial, in its short 30 second duration the advertisement either tells the story of a touching
progressive family molded by life experiences or of a very noncommittal family with various
impractical team affiliations. Either by alienation or affection the commercial conveys a very

What Is The Theme Of The Catcher In The Rye
The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, is one of the most controversial novels ever written. It
has been banned and unbanned many times and has been constantly cited for its foul language,
lacking plot, and unclear morals. While the novel may have flaws, one would be hard pressed to
find the perfect novel. It is also important to understand the context under which the novel was
written and the ideas and feelings the author was trying to convey. Once these are understood, it
becomes increasingly clear that J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, definitely still has
a place in school curricula for its unique style. Many teenagers today struggle with depression or
any condition lying on that spectrum, and one of the greatest senses of comfort one can have is
the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggles. Despite being drunk, Mr. Antolini
eloquently highlights this point when talking to Holden later in the novel: Many, many men have
been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept
records of their troubles. You ll learn from them if you want to. Just as someday, if you have
something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement.
And it isn t education. It s history. It s poetry. (Salinger 189) During one of their most
impressionable stages of life, a connection with Holden s feelings can be invaluable for teenagers
when they hit their lows. It s not often that

Philosophy of W.E.B. DuBois versus Booker T. Washington...
Women should not have the chance for an academic education. They should be trained to cook,
clean, and take care of children. What better way would a woman help society? Would she help her
neighbor more by teaching them mathematics they will never use or by helping their neighbor raise
children? This is similar to what Booker T. Washington claimed about African Americans. He stated
that the African Americans should attend vocational schools rather than receive an academic
educationso they could better further social change. W.E.B DuBois had a different approach to
further social change by stating that some African Americans should go to academic schools, while
others had trades, and some were considered fools who cannot learn.... Show more content on

However, there were two different views at this time, Washington completely disagreed and
wanted the African Americans to go to vocational school and learn trades so they are better able
to help one another. He stated that it is better to know how to lay bricks to help a person in need
rather than have the ability to speak Greek to them. Though both men had the same goal, they
wanted to accomplish it in extremely different ways. The way to accomplish any goal is by
teaching students as much as we can. In this case, we can teach them academics and trades. We
can do this by Dewey s principle of learn by doing. For example, the students would be able to
learn arithmetic by playing store and it would also be a vocational trade. This material would help
the students in the future regardless of the path that they choose later in life. I will encourage all of
my students to follow whatever they wish to achieve. We all have our place in this world.
Everyone has a contribution in this world to make, even African Americans. DuBois continually
stressed this to his fellow black community in his book The Souls of Black Folk. What they learn
in schools will help the students determine what they will do further in life. If they choose to be the
talented ten and choose academics, the black world will need them. African Americans need other
African Americans to fill all occupations that a white man would. Who

In a community of five thousand damp souls (Guterson 5) as described by David Guterson in his
novel, Snow Falling on Cedars. A community that concentrated a variety of ethnicity, among them
was both Whites and Japanese. As a result of the racial differences, racism has came into

Hatsue and Ishmael, Kabuo s loss of his land, and perhaps for his indictment for murder.

Now that all the evidences had turned against Kabuo, it has made others to focus mainly on
Kabuo, and think that he is behind of all this. Later on, abroad Kabuo s ship Art Moran n the

proven Kabuo to be the murderer, but new evidences came into existences to overturn the entire
situation and twisted the case as of being an accident rather than a first degree murder case. If it

The internment of Kabuo, Hatsue and the rest of their family are mainly because the U.S
governments are being racist toward Japanese. They government did not trust the Japanese
because they feared that among them were spies, even thou they swore to be loyalty to the U.S.
Some of them even stand up to fight for the U.S against their home country to demonstrated their
loyalty, because they believed that they are America and no longer consider as Japanese. But the
U.S took no consideration on whether they are loyal or not and placed them into internment camp
for safety purpose. I believed that it s not necessary to have internment camps, it is basically
useless and a waste of money and time, because if the Japanese were to have spies, they wouldn t

The Last Colony Of Roanoke
The Last Colony of Roanoke
Five hundred years ago, European explorers landed in North America. After trying to locate a
new route to Asia across the Atlantic Ocean, they found a continent they did not know existed.
Three different groups traveled to the New World, starting in 1584 (Basu, Tanya). The last group
included Gov. John White, he had to return to England to submit his report to the Queen. John
White tried several times to return to Virginia, but it wasn t until a few years later he was finally
able to return to his new home. In 1584, when White was finally able to return, the land was barren
and deserted of people. This baffling revelation began one of the greatest mysteries of all time.

Raleigh sent out two small troops lead by Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe to scout out a new
inhabitable area (Horn, James). They arrived on the outer banks a few months later in August,
1585 (Carpenter, Jeannine). They were the first English explorers to set eyes on North Carolina
(The Lost Colony). Within days after Lanes return to Roanoke Island from Weapemeoc, he wrote
historian and geographer Richard Hakluyt that they had: discovered the mainland to be the
goodliest soil under the cope of heaven, so abounding with sweet trees, that bring such sundry
rich and most pleasant gummes, grapes of such greatness, yet wild, as France, Spain nor Italy
hath no greater (Carpenter, Jeannine). One of the islands they persuade looked like a perfect
island to settle. In another letter he sent to Sir Francis Walsingham, secretary to Queen
Elizabeth, Lane seems to have enclosed a crude map, its legends revealing a great store of fish
and great red grapes very pleasant there (Carpenter, Jeannine). This island was Roanoke, ten miles
long and two and a half miles wide. These were all reasons why the Roanoke colonists would have
been able to establish a long term residence there.
They returned to England a year later with two Natives, Manteo and Wanchese (The Lost Colony).
With them they brought back plentiful information about the new lands they discovered. Among

How Did Walt Disney Create Mickey Mouse?
The public is filled with Disney products and endorsements. Disneyland is known as the happiest
place on Earth and all in thanks to the creator, Walt Disney. Children now look up to Disney as a
source of hope, faith and inspiration for the future. Disney left behind tracks to what a child needs
to grow and to become happy with the idea that magic exists. His first creation was brought to life
by placing upon the name Mickey. It is interesting to note that Mickey Mouse started out as an
impish, mischievous character that played a cow s teeth like a xylophone in his first movie. He

Cartune Classics series. It subsequently took his company 78 years to get back the rights to the
Oswald character when in 2006 the Walt Disney Company reacquired the rights to Oswald the
Lucky Rabbit from NBC Universal. (Bellis, 3).
Mickey was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. In the spring of 1928,
Disney asked Ub Iwerks to start drawing up new character ideas. Iwerks tried sketches of various
animals, such as dogs and cats, but none of these appealed to Disney. A female cow and male
horse were also rejected. They would later turn up as Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar.
Walt Disney got the inspiration for Mickey Mouse from his old pet mouse he used to have on
his farm. Mickey Mouse popped out of my mind onto a drawing pad 20 years ago on a train ride
from Manhattan to Hollywood at a time when business fortunes of my brother Roy and myself
were at lowest ebb and disaster seemed right around the corner. (Disney, 5). Hugh Harman drew
some sketches of mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. These inspired Ub Iwerks to create a
new mouse character for Disney. Mortimer Mouse had been Disney s original name for the
character before his wife, Lillian,

Analysis Of Vasari s The Multivalent Themes And...
The multivalent themes and leitmotifs with which Vasari regales his readers the major and minor
artists, the diligent and the delinquent, the inventive and imitative, the mentors and apprentices,
the fathers and sons, and the mothers, wives and daughters bring the history of Italian
Renaissance art to life in his monumental text. In order for us to understand the purpose of the
preface pages, it is important first to consider the purpose of Vasari s text as a whole. Vasari was
himself a notable artist and architect, however he made it his eventual duty to recognise the
importance of artists in the historical timeline. More significantly, he would endeavour to
distinguish between the good, the better and the best and how their stylistic methods are
indicative of an artist s ability. In his prefaces he relays to his readers the immense body of work
he tasked himself with, how artists were gifted or strived for their art, were innovators or followers,
and how their perception as craftsmen or academics changed, all this in an attempt to educate those
who wanted to learn about the story of art. Vasari divides his Vite into three parts spanning a period
from Cimabue s trecento Italo byzantine style to his present day cinquecento where he places
particular emphasis on Michelangelo. In this time we can observe a shift from a spiritual almost
detached emotion to something more aesthetically substantial, something Vasari surmises as finally
reaching the summit of perfection.

Essay On English Reflection
Semester One English Reflection
August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at
Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I
would encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now)
remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I
began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system.
Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain
expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and
habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the
categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my
strengths in the categories reading and writing.
To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this
I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and
getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get
used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading
system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors
versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term
one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the
level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term
two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English
there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other
classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards
academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during
semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not
helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of

I think the reason for this is vanity, but the young people passion on luxury goods also cannot be
excluded.
According to the report of China Financial and Economic News (2015), Miss Lu is a 22 years girl

she is holding a Louis Vuitton bag that cost more than 20,000 yuan (Around 2,000 pounds). Miss
Lu said that, in order to buy this Louis Vuitton bag, she has saved money for several months. In the
months for saving money, she ate instant noodles in most of the days, and stick with free bus
transportation to save Metro ticket money. Furthermore, the questionnaire result has also shows
that, for young consumers, the main purpose of buying luxury goods is to reward themselves.
In addition, China s young rich and the rich second generation are the main promoters of younger
luxury goods consumption. China Finance has reported that, the US and European luxury
consumption are concentrated in over 40 years old people. However, young Chinese luxury
consumer groups are rapidly growing up (Rebaca, 2013). Furthermore, Wu Jin has said that (2013),
the youngest of the world s luxury consumers in China, and they are spending their parents money

  • 2. Vertical Structure Courtney, your discussion board post covered all of the questions thoroughly and accurately. The exchange of information among organizational employees is vital for an organization to succeed (Cabrera Cabrera, 2002). In reference to your analysis of shared information, you correctly pointed out how the structure, tasks, strategy, and culture of performance and learning organizations are very different from one another. The performance organization is designed with a chain of command or hierarchy (Daft, 2013). The vertical structure makes the organization more rigid or inflexible than the loose or flexible culture found in a learning organization. According to Daft (2013), vertical linkages are not sufficient for most organizations today (p. 133). A performance organization with a vertical structure is typically focused on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is interesting that you believe non profit managers do not need to pay more attention to stakeholders than business managers do. It is true that non profit organizations are not organized for the sole purpose of making money, but non profit organizations are still required to pay employee salaries and other business expenses. In other words, non profits are still accountable to their respective stakeholders. Marshall and Woodward (2004) postulate that, It would also be reasonable to speculate that the number of stakeholders that a non profit organization must take into account is greater than for profit organizations (p. 101). Your statement that non profits should be managed in a way which places ethics or the needs of others ahead of a profit is correct. However, non profit managers must find a balance between the needs of others and the organization s need for positive cash flow. Many non profits would not exist without the support of their stakeholders. Non profits need to pay as much attention to their stakeholders as for profit businesses ... • 3. Analysis Of Passing By Nella Larsen the novel Passing, Nella Larsen explores the consequences and disadvantages of two African Americans living in a segregated society. The reconnection between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry illustrates two different paths in regards to how they portray themselves in their own community. Larsen displays Clare Kendry as a light skinned women who tolerates her husband s racial comments in order to live in a higher society. Clare s decision to secretly hide her racial background because of the desire of wanting to be accepted by individuals of an upper social class greatly affects Irene. Clare s determination of overcoming racial barriers by passing as a white individual is similar to the Rhinelander/Jones case. In 1924 the son of the wealthiest families in New York married the daughter of a taxicab driver. However, Leonard Rhinelander appealed to have is marriage annulled due to believing his wife to be white when he married her (135). Rhinelander suspected Alice Jones was hiding her racial background by passing as a white individual. As the trial progressed it was concluded that that Rhinelander had an understanding of her racial background before marriage was an option between the two. The Rhinelander/Jones case demonstrates how Clare Kendry decided to pass as a white individual in order to obtain wealth and social status by marrying a white male. The three criticism texts chosen demonstrates how racial passing between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry contributes to social status. In Nella Larsen s Passing: A Problem of Interpretation, Claudia Tate argues that raceis not the novels foremost concern, but is merely a mechanism for setting the story in motion (344). Tate s decision to focus on the psychological ambiguity (343) of the novel forbids her to elaborate on the relation between race and social class. As a result, I disagree with certain statements from Tate s argument due to the lack of acknowledging the issue regarding race and social class. Tate initially claims that Irene s understanding of race becomes a concern when the impending exposure of Clare s racial identity threatens to hasten the disruption of Irene s domestic security (Tate 344). However, Irene s fear of being spotted as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of A Day Without A Mexican Imagine that one day, all of the Hispanic population just disappeared from the face of the earth, nowhere to be seen or found. The film, A Day Without a Mexican had that same plot, where the whole Hispanic population in California disappeared into thin air when a weird and mysterious fog surrounded the state (Artenstein Arau, 2004). The film may had taken a humorous and satirical approach to the topic of Mexican immigrants and the overall treatment of the whole of the Hispanic population, but every joke that was made in the movie echoed the same problems and concerns that exist in reality. The film addressed many of the stereotypes and racism that surround the Hispanic and Mexican populations. The film also made apparent just how important Mexicans and Hispanics are to all aspects of society. Lastly, the film even attempts to cover what exactly makes someone a Mexican or Hispanic. One of the major stereotypes about Mexicans and Hispanics that was addressed was how all Hispanics must be Mexican (Artenstein Arau, 2004). Every time a character was seen as Hispanic they were assumed to be Mexicans. This assumption could mostly be seen with the character Lila Rodriguez, the news reporter. Lila Rodriguez, before anyone knew about her actual origins, was an American citizen, and not Mexican or a Mexican immigrant. However, Lila did admit that she was Hispanic origin. Still, her colleagues and many of the other characters in the film still believed that she was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

QuoteCommentary ...the hypocrisy of his parents lifestyle, the tyranny of their conditional love. Eventually, Chris rebelled and when he finally did it was with characteristic immoderation (64).The beginning of this excerpt shows Chris disapproval of his parent s way of life. He uses the phrase tyranny of their conditional love, to imply that he wants to escape their oppressive rule. This relates to the theme of nonconformity because in the end Chris rebels and refuses to give in to his parents. He left them and went into the wild, giving away his college fund to OXFAM and refusing to accept the new car his parents offered him. Chris shows his distaste for material things in burning his money because now he cannot buy the things in life that are not needed. • 6. Physics Of The Accident Investigation Based on the annual global road crash statistics, nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15 44. The top causes of vehicular accidents are distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving and many more. Having said that, investigations are needed to be able to analyze the causes of the accident. In such cases, it cannot be denied that science is directly involved to fully know the extent and circumstance of an accident. Therefore, it is sufficient to say that specifically, physics, as science, plays an important role in police investigations. Furthermore, it can be said that policemen are accountable to utilize physics in their investigations. Investigations begin by surveying the accident site. To be able to apply Physics into the accident investigations, the first step must involve getting data from the environment and accident site. As such, necessary variables must be first obtained to be able to apply certain Physics concepts into the investigation. Variables can be in the form of (1) primary observations and (2) measurement variables and evidences from the accident or crashsite. First, to be able to explicate the needed information to apply Physics concept, police investigators must first obtain a basic viewpoint of the crash site. Specific observations must be noted down to be able to complete the variables needed for Physics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Spanish and French Monarchial Beliefs The palace of Versailles was built by Louis XIV of France (1643 1715), and the Escorial was built by Philip II of Spain (1556 1598). By examining the aerial and frontal facades of these two palaces, it may be seen that there were many similarities and differences between the two kings perception and practice of monarchy. Each king set his own goals for his life, and concluded as to how a monarch ought to behave. Both Louis XIV and Philip II had religious duties to pay attention to, organized the distribution of power in their respective kingdoms, communicated with other countries and entities through war and diplomacy, raised militaries, and made plans for the expansion of their own beliefs, thoughts and practices. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet had enough time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Philip II, however, did not diversify the existing hierarchy of power, but embraced it. Upon the building of the Escorial, many new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the clergy. (Even if there was a large religious influence at Versailles, by the Pragmatic Sanction of Bourges (1438), the В‘Galician church was politically independent from the Holy See.) br br Louis XIV and Philip II had some similar and some different methods for handling foreign affairs. Louis XIV deployed the French army against many different peoples, being always at war or preparing for war in order to keep peace at home, and war abroad. Philip II also deployed his armies against various people, however, he did so in order to expand the boundaries of Catholicism. • 8. Explaining Why Biological Warfare Cannot be Explained with... The purpose of this essay is to explain why it will be a problem to explain biological warfare with the SCOT theory, actor network theory and technological systems theory. Social Construction of Technology (SCOT) is a theory that was introduced by Weiber Bijker that explains the link between social and technical processes of a technology or artifact. Bjiker argued that technology is shaped by human engineers, market forces, consumer s needs and demands. In SCOT, technology is a social construction. Because technology is socially constructed, it involves flexibility of interpretations, stabilization and closure. Biological warfare cannot be explained by SCOT theory because stabilization and closure which is the cornerstone of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among the components of technological systems are physical artifacts, such as biological weapon agents, aerosols, milling machines, microscopes. Technological systems also include organizations such as terrorist groups, governments and manufacturing laboratories. Legislative artifacts such as treaties and protocols can also be part of technological systems. Overtime, technological systems tend to join environmental factors into the system eliminating uncertainty ( free market ). They are goal oriented: reordering of the material world to make it more productive. As technological systems develop after a long period acquire momentum which makes the system have more influence on society it will begin to shape society. The reason technological systems concept will be unable to explain biological warfare is because Hughes assumed that the society can resist the momentum of a technology if they act earlier. In the production and use of biological weapons, the majority of the public are outsiders therefore, even if the society is aware of biological weapon technology in its early stage, their voice would not have any influence on the technology compared to the insiders (experts like microbiologists and organizations). Actor network theory, sometimes abbreviated to ANT, is a sociological theory developed by Bruno Latour, Michel Callon and John Law. The primary tenet of actor network theory is the concept that ... The Sustainability Move At Tyson The earliest sustainability move I found on Tyson happened in 2002 when they created their Tyson Food Core Values dedicated to keeping integrity and honesty within the company and creating better communities (Core Values). Tyson is a large corporation having grown a lot over the years and for their CSR initiatives they have many that deal in different areas from the environment to even religion (Sustainability). Their CSR programs however different do still agree with the purpose of their company. Tyson provides many services that all have an effect on communities, the environment, and even children which is what their CSR strategies focus on (Sustainability). Affluent because the Crayola company is within a society that is affluent and well off so they can afford to implement this initiative. Sustainability comes into play because Crayola as a company wants to provide a cleaner environment for children and their moms, which are their main market. Globalization does not have much of a hand in this, but the program did reach across the country. Media played a role by providing the public with figures and results about the program and contributed to Crayola s goodwill. Their brand name is now looked on even better because of the results from their initiative and by their promotion of CSR. • 11. Skilled Immigration Controversy The discourse on skilled immigration revolves around the controversial H 1B worker visas, the largest visa program for temporary, skilled immigration to the United States, and the level of the annual cap of such visas. Proponents pushing to raise the annual visa cap, argue that there exists a shortage of domestic laborsupply in certain industries. Moreover, these workers enable firms to compete globally by raising their competitiveness, growth, and innovation. Critics of skilled immigration, however, argue that skilled immigrants are not necessarily skilled, and that the principle use of the H 1B visas is for firms to minimize their labor costs, which has the effect of undercutting native wages, and displacing native workers. The H 1B program grants temporary work visas to workers in specialty occupations, most commonly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Firms must pay substantial fees to apply for a worker, and the worker is tied to the firm for the length of their visa (the initial length being three years). • 12. The Disadvantages of Standardized Testing Essay Standardized tests are exams that are supposed to measure a child s academic knowledge but have long been a controversial subject of discussion. Although it is one method to see how a child is performing, is it the best method? Standardized testing can be biased or unfair, inhibit both the teacher s and the children s creativity and flexibility, affect funding for schools, cause untested subjects to be eliminated from the curriculum, and cause anxiety for children and teachers. Standardized tests can also be biased or unfair because questions on these tests necessitate understanding and abilities that typically children from advantaged families have (Kohn, A, 2000). Many times children who are held back do not improve educationally, become emotionally hurt from being retained, lose interest in school, and are more likely to be a drop out (Fair Test, 2007). Standardized tests take away from a teacher s flexibility and creativity. With that in mind, teachers do not fit into the same mold either. Each teacher has their own style of teaching and should be given the flexibility to teach in a way that will inspire their students. Teachers are not able to be as creative in their teaching styles, when focused on test preparation. Many talented teachers leave the field of education when they lose the freedom to teach their own way. Teaching has gone from a creative art to a structured implementation as the focus shifts to standardized tests. Children are no longer encouraged to be creative in the test prep environment. Instead, they are being taught to perform well on standardized tests and are labeled as unintelligent if they don t. Young children are born with creativity and we see that when they are playing and pretending. According to Sir Ken Robinson, in Slon s (2013) article, by the time they get to be adults, most kids have lost that capacity to be creative. The fundamentals of creation and experimentation are not part of the standardized testing mechanism. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust, therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of America seems to avoid this. Are dietary supplements efficient? Are they even necessary? To answer these questions, one must investigate the three most popular supplements herbal, pill, and gel capsules in order to determine which type best suits the body s needs. Although they are one of the most ancient practices of medicine, certain herbal supplements have no impact on the body while others do. And I imagine that if there were some people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those societies. We have to be clear that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman Republic and not the Roman Kingdom. To be honest with you, I don t really understand the type of government that the Roman Republic had because in some times, dictators were appointed, Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. For example, even after all the harm Duddy has caused, the last lines in the book still point toward happiness for the character. That s all right sir. We ll mark it. And suddenly Duddy did smile. This article describes the data incompatibility between small and medium coffee farmers, roasters, and traders. For example, certain crimes such as assault or robbery involve the use of violence because the victim is injured or harmed in a physical way. The purpose of the study is to examine whether young adults who watch violent television programs are more likely to possess violent attitudes, which promotes aggressive behaviour like uttering threats or assault. This conveys that it s important to study the association between violent media and violent attitudes because it provides insight towards the increasing crime rates that occur in society. The rationale for conducting research on media violenceprovides explanations for the occurrences of violent crimes because violent media is considered a significant factor for violent attitudes, which leads to various types of violent crimes committed by adolescents and young adults. Other significant studies have expressed their interest in the topic regarding the media s influence on violence. The study The Influence of Media Violence on Youth examines whether violent videogames increases the probability of individuals engaging in violent activities such as uttering threats and physical assaults (Anderson et al., 2003). He believes that people should live their lives preparing for deathand separating their soul from the substantial needs of the body. In addition, he thinks that if a soul has not properly separating itself from the body after death, it will not be able to be free. One of the philosophical ideas that Socrates argued was known as the Argument from Affinity. Socrates argues that the body and the mind, in reference to every human being that has ever existed. Socrates then goes on to differentiate this experience for philosophers. Philosophers give the impression of being wise during their lifetimes because they are able to seek wisdom, even with the physical necessities of their bodies. Socrates is at ease about the entire situation, including his own death because he believes that his soul will live forever. He thinks that once his soul distances itself from the body, the soul will be able to truly be wise. The soul of the philosopher achieves a calm from such emotions [pleasures and pain]; it follows with reason and ever stays with it contemplating the true, the divine, which is not the object of opinion (122). He believes that the soul of a philosopher is immortal because it is able to seek wisdom with the burdens of the body so without it will be able to accomplish more.In the beginning, Socrates argues that the soul and the body are contrasting for every human and when they separate the soul will truly be free. Later on, Socrates specifically states the souls of philosophers will be immortal because they are calm and are always thinking of the truth and the divine. This weakens his argument because everyone is not a philosopher so not everyone s soul will become immortal. Socrates lists the differences between the body and the soul and what makes the latter immortal. This argument appears to be unconditional in the context that Socrates is saying it, however he doesn t mention if this notion is absolute in all cases for every human being.Socrates does not specifically mention if this explanation is relevant to every single physical human body and every single immortal soul that a human may possess. The argument can apply to every single body because every human body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I started taking a liking to her when I noticed how kind and gentle she was with the animals that always hang around the kitchen because of the food. Happy Abortion Chapter 1 Summary Erica Millar Happy Abortions Our Bodies in the Era of Choice Zed Books Ltd, London, UK, 2017. 339 pp. ISBN: 9781786991317 Abortion is commonly addressed in public discourse as a choice that women face with difficulty, one that negatively marks their experience of femininity and may lead to painful, even traumatic repercussions. Happy Abortions Our Bodies in the Era of Choice challenges this normative view by revealing how specific emotions have evolved as common sense discourses of abortion, reinforcing the cultural meanings through which abortion is evaluated and perceived, both by women and their surrounding communities. The following chapters address four dominant emotions through which abortion is conveyed. Chapter 2 discusses the maternal happiness frame, perceiving women s happiness as only achievable through motherhood, and thus positioning abortion as a choice that goes against women s feminine nature . Chapter 3 explores foetocentric grief another prevalent emotion in abortion discourses, that constructs pregnant women as mothers who go through the loss of their children. Widely employed in political discourse, the book reveals the effects of this frame on abortion policies and regulations. Chapter 4 examines the feeling of shame and the resulting silence that veils the experiences of aborting women. Chapter 5 considers the presence of national interests in population management and composition, whereby women are perceived not only as individuals, but as national objects as well. In a Western context, the aborting white woman is viewed as a threat to the supremacy of white culture, and as failing the nation by refusing to produce more (white) citizens. Lastly, the book concludes with a call for an alternative approach that rethinks the interpretations of pro choice discourses, one that does not depict women as uniform in experience, as ahistorical and naturalised subjects but rather one that considers the broader context of abortion issues, including power relations and social ... Many teenagers today struggle with depression or any condition lying on that spectrum, and one of the greatest senses of comfort one can have is the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggles. Despite being drunk, Mr. Antolini eloquently highlights this point when talking to Holden later in the novel: Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. He stated that the African Americans should attend vocational schools rather than receive an academic educationso they could better further social change. Though both men had the same goal, they wanted to accomplish it in extremely different ways. The way to accomplish any goal is by teaching students as much as we can. In this case, we can teach them academics and trades. We can do this by Dewey s principle of learn by doing. For example, the students would be able to learn arithmetic by playing store and it would also be a vocational trade. Mickey Mouse popped out of my mind onto a drawing pad 20 years ago on a train ride from Manhattan to Hollywood at a time when business fortunes of my brother Roy and myself were at lowest ebb and disaster seemed right around the corner. (Disney, 5). Hugh Harman drew some sketches of mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. These inspired Ub Iwerks to create a new mouse character for Disney. • 51. Analysis Of Vasari s The Multivalent Themes And... The multivalent themes and leitmotifs with which Vasari regales his readers the major and minor artists, the diligent and the delinquent, the inventive and imitative, the mentors and apprentices, the fathers and sons, and the mothers, wives and daughters bring the history of Italian Renaissance art to life in his monumental text. In order for us to understand the purpose of the preface pages, it is important first to consider the purpose of Vasari s text as a whole. Vasari was himself a notable artist and architect, however he made it his eventual duty to recognise the importance of artists in the historical timeline. More significantly, he would endeavour to distinguish between the good, the better and the best and how their stylistic methods are indicative of an artist s ability. In his prefaces he relays to his readers the immense body of work he tasked himself with, how artists were gifted or strived for their art, were innovators or followers, and how their perception as craftsmen or academics changed, all this in an attempt to educate those who wanted to learn about the story of art. Vasari divides his Vite into three parts spanning a period from Cimabue s trecento Italo byzantine style to his present day cinquecento where he places particular emphasis on Michelangelo. In this time we can observe a shift from a spiritual almost detached emotion to something more aesthetically substantial, something Vasari surmises as finally reaching the summit of perfection. ... • 53. Essay On English Reflection Semester One English Reflection August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I would encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now) remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and writing. To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
