The Gilded And Progressive Eras

Reforming America
The gilded and progressive eras in America were times of expansion, urbanization, and what seemed
like a golden pathway to an industrialized future. In the 1850s, railroads were being built all across
America, and with that came the rise of the steel and oil industries, as well as dramatic population
increases in the newly urbanized cities. Such a change in society created a gap between social classes
causes incredible amounts of poverty for many, and incredible wealth for few. Three main struggles
during this crucial time in America were political corruption, the rapid expansion of urban cities, and
the unfair, and unsafe working conditions. Through these difficult times, many different types of
reform were supported, but few were actually effective. One of the largest problems facing Americans
during the gilded age and progressive era was political corruption. The late 1800s and early 1900s
were filled with political machines such as George Plunkitt and James Gillespie Blaine. Plunkitt was
known as the leader of Tammany Hall, an Irish based organization that was heavy in politics during
the 19th century. Politicians affiliated with Tammany Hall would provide jobs, money or other favors
and in return would receive government favors. Although Plunkitt believed he was doing no wrong,
many Americans saw this as taking the patronage system for granted. During an interview, Plunkitt
said, I

Essay on 3D Printing Porter s Five Forces Analys
PORTER S FIVE FORCES
Threat of new entrants
Existence of barriers to entry are low Few new firms can enter and non performing firms can exit
easily 3D printing will lower barriers to market entry and will enable innovative start ups to target the
market using crowd funding.. Free R D also dramatically lowers the barriers to entry.
Capital requirements Lower costs of technology equipment. First, AM reduces the capital required to
achieve economies of scale. Second, it increases flexibility and reduces the capital required to achieve
scope..
Government policy Although 3D printing opens up new practical challenges, protection of 3D designs

Bargaining power of suppliers
Limited number of suppliers In the case of 3D printing, early bargaining power of suppliers will be
strong as there may be many buyers of the technology and a limited number of suppliers.
Growing market for materials Suppliers in marketplace may impact buyers through lower quality,
higher cost, or limited availability of products . Considering that a great segment of people today want
to own and use 3D printers, one is likely to profit by selling 3D supplies like new manufacturing
techniques equipment, specific software and specific material vendors.
Intensity of competitive rivalry
As with any new technology, 3D printing will encounter competition among vendors and across all
tiers of quality. As the product becomes easier to duplicate and manufacture and as equipment costs go
down, the number of competitors will increase..
Main competitors 3D systems and Stratasys 3DSystems and Stratasys, leaders of the 3D printing
manufacturing market, have managed to counter the threat of competition by acquiring strategic
companies early in their life cycle. The two leaders priority is to accelerate market share, marketing
and R D while accepting temporary earnings reductions, to strengthen their marketplace leadership

Memory Loss In Finding Dory
If someone were to casually mention the name, Dory, it is possible that one would immediately think
of the iconic, little Royal Blue Tang Fish from the film franchise, Finding Nemo (Stanton, 2013).
More recently and long overdue, Finding Dory was added (Stanton, 2016). As a key element to the
plot of the first film, it would be hard not to remember her. Ironically, remembering is something that
the character struggles with throughout the movie, admitting as much to Marlin, another main
character, after a misunderstanding occurs between them while he frantically searches for his missing
son, Nemo. Dory s short term memory loss is a hurdle that she eventually comes to terms with and
adapts to at the end of Finding Dory, proving that secure social

Essay Mending Wall
What is so important about mending a wall? Robert frost a down to earth, phenomenon has used his
supernatural skills to write a poem which may seem to be a simple, ordinary poem, yet what lays
hidden behind the veils may be unraveled. That is the spiritual world that you and me may learn to
understand the philosophical basis of human nature that provokes the human revolution. Believe it or
not this poem was ingeniously devised by Robert Frost to articulately open up a world of ideas that
acumen imagination and its complexities. That is what I will be elaborating on in terms of textual
evidence.
Like many of Frost s poems, mending wall involves a journey. We are introduced to two farmers in an
annual meeting at the wall that separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like tree felling, sheep shearing and crop harvesting. It is a ritual which has it s own paradox, it
causes two neighbors to cooperate so that the wall which separate them to be sustained. It divides even
their energies at this moment as they keep the wall between them as they walk its line. The definition
of the ritual in strong symbolic terms is a statement of humankind s determination to hang on to all
that divides it. Furthermore in this stanza they fix the wall in springtime, after wintertime, when the
frozen ground swell has done its work of destruction.
Frost feels a sense of mischief, an urge to question deep rooted and unreasoned attitudes. So he
questions his neighbour s motto: why do good fences make good neighbours? He uses the most
elementary of examples: if you had cows you would of course want to wall them in and stop them
from roaming into others properties. But he points out the obvious, simple truth, in the most simple of
language: But here there are no cows. Surely, such a persuasive argument must make his neighbour
rethink his preoccupation that you need walls between you to make good neighbours.
Frost questions the reasons for the wall being built in the first place. He sees a couple of reasons for
building a wall: if there is something you need to keep in or out, build a wall; if some trouble can
result from open spaces, build a wall. Otherwise why have one? He climaxes his argument by

The Meaning and Implication of Oral History Essay
The Meaning and Implication of Oral History
In the United States the institutional beginnings of oral history can be traced back to Allan Nevins s
Oral History Project at Columbia University in 1948. As a field it developed in the early 1980s and at
this time advocates started to seriously reflect on its methods and implications. Today oral history and
public history are considered the growth engine of the historical discipline, absorbing many historians
who are competing in a tight job market. However, the importance of oral history goes beyond
practical considerations. Its methodological innovations enhance yet at the same time challenge the
discipline. In this paper I will discuss some of the key issues anyone who intends to do ... Show more

It has also been viewed as an alternative that allows scholars to get around the historical discipline
altogether. For Michael Frisch, who has reflected on the craft and implication of oral history for two
decades, these two visions of more history or no history are not entirely satisfactory. Oral history has a
greater potential because it can make history more meaningful it can be a qualitative improvement, it
can make for better history. Functioning within the realms of history, this approach can enrich an
already extant knowledge base. It can also be more responsive and reciprocal than the history that is
written exclusively for an academic audience and lacks relevance for the public at large.
Even if oral history is conducted within institutional confines, it has potential to reach the masses. In
other words, oral history can be used for social and political purposes more readily than a monograph
on an obscure study that is only interesting to a handful of scholars. Frisch sees the challenge of oral
history in learning how social history, community studies, and public presentation can combine in
scholarship that is at once intellectually trenchant, politically meaningful, and sharable with the
communities from which it comes.
Frisch s call for political sensitivity and the democratization of history has been echoed by many of his
colleagues, including the British sociologist Paul

Examples Of Magical Realism
Tita was trying to figure out why her beans hadn t cooked. She remembered Nacha saying that tamales
won t cook if they are prepared with anger because the tamales get angry. This is an example of
Magical Realism because the food is reflecting what the person making them is feeling. In this case
Tita is angry because of the discussion she had with her sister Rosaura. This connects to the theme of
expressing one s feelings through cooking. The food Tita cooked, provoked different feelings and
taste, on others, based on the relationship that the individual had with Tita. However, this time the
food instead experienced Tita s feelings. Tita had put the beans in a bad mood and therefore they
weren t cooked. Tita was finally standing up against Mama

Mean Rabbitss Research Paper
Rabbits can be nice, but they can also be very spiteful. Never just put your hand into a rabbit s cage
that looks like it is feeling threatened or looks very scared and tense. A rabbit could be nice one day
then be ready to attack the next day. They may fool you by how cute they look but they have a
temperament just like any other animal. Each rabbit has their own personality so you should never
judge all rabbits by how one rabbit acts. You may think that you can t run by genetics and penalize a
rabbit for being mean cause it has the chance to pass that gene on, but someone else might cause they
don t want to keep mean rabbits or sell someone a mean rabbit. This behavior is a 50, 50 chance of
being a genetic behavior or a learned behavior. Research shows that this topic has never been
pinpointed on a positive answer of yes or no. It is still up in the air.Lots of people have a mean doe ...

The spitefulness is genetic but is it a dominant or a recessive gene. Well, people breed mean rabbits
together you get mean offspring. When people breed a mean doe to a nice buck you can either get nice
bunnies, mean bunnies, or a mixture of the two. With that being said, the gene is more than likely
recessive due to the gene popping up in later generations after not popping up in previous generations.
Along with the personality trait being genetic, it can also be caused by hormones. Lots of things can
contribute to the spitefulness that some rabbits may present. With the research that has been conducted
in this experiment, that only did breeding experiments which allowed them to test and see if it is
genetic instead of being caused by hormones. With all of the information presented, the final
conclusion on if spitefulness in genetic in rabbits is that yes it is genetic due to the fact that i either

The And Hopi And Zuni Tribes
The Earth existed for at least 4.5 billion years before modern humans came into being. The different
cultures of the world have different ideas or stories of how humans came to be. The Hopi and Zuni
tribes have creation stories that were passed from generation to generation. These stories claim that the
world, despite being made before man, is meant to be ruled by and sustain mankind. Daniel Quinn s
novel, Ishmael, imagines its own creation myths to showcase how these stories work and the messages
that they send. The Native American myths referenced in this paper and in Ishmael rank mankind as
more important than the Earth through the timeframe of the creation stories, the way Earth is
described, and how mankind interacts with the Earth. Stories take place in time. Creation stories
commonly take place in the time before mankind is created and end once humans are roaming the
Earth, and the myths of the Hopi and Zuni are no different. When the creation myths end at that point,
they are marking the emergence of humans as the most important aspect of the story, and of all time.
The Zuni creation myth demonstrates this idea when it says, Sky Father, too, gives to humans
(Leeming 298). That quote is from the last paragraph of the Zuni creation myth and is an example of
how mankind s creation is what ends creation myths. The last few paragraphs of the Zuni creation
myth deal only with mankind s creation and living beings that are created for mankind s enjoyment
and sustenance

The Impact Of Modernism
Jonathan Glance , author of the book 20th Century Architecture ; The Structures That Shaped The
Century describes modernism as an attitude rather than a style an attempt to free the architect from the
rules of convention. Form following function was an attribute adopted by architectural modernists. As
a result of this, modern architecture is no longer ornamentally focused but uses materials such as
concrete, glass, steel and wood for functional construction. With reference to Le Corbusier and his
architectural masterpiece, Ville Savoye, this essay will discuss and analyze the impact the industrial
revolution had on modernism, the influence the Bauhaus had on architectural development, social and
economical effects that influenced social trends, how modernism was received and reviewed by
society and why the modernist dream ultimately failed.

Decompartmentation is made up of three aspects: ascetics technics and society. Decompartmentation
is when things that are normally categorized into groups are now not distributed but used together in
order to achieve a desired result. He believed that design could be used as a solution to solve the
alienation in modern, urban society and thus using decompartmentalization in linking social problems
and design to create a solution. It was meant to improve the population who consumed it states
Greenhalgh when discussing his views on modernism. Due to this critic it reiterates that Le Corbusier

building houses out of cheaper materials to help provide to those effected by the economic crisis and
creating houses without ornamentation. However due to his neglect in focusing on the comfort of

Boosting Chilean Wine Brand Through Montgras
(a) To what extent can MontGras control its own market position, as opposed to being dominated 7by
the country of origin effect, and be perceived as a Chilean Wine ?
Changing the overall image of its companies wines are added to its market positioning strategy. Even
though the branding as a Chilean Wine is easily applied onto MontGras, there are many factors in its
control which can make sure that the company dominates the market by having a bigger share as it
wants to. MontGras though being smaller than some Chilean wineries, it has been able to stand out
due to its interest in high quality wines. The company wants to establish itself as the low price yet

Thus, Cabo imports are the best option for MontGras at the moment.
The UK market with respect to MontGras:
Unlike the fragmented US market, the UK was not tiered and it was also one of the most competitive
export sources in the World. One major point to consider in this market is the tax that is levied on
alcoholic drinks which is 1 pound per bottle regardless of the retail price. This would also mean that
the export of Reservas would be more beneficial as compared to Varietals (this is in line with the
company s strategic decisions as well). Again in this case, MontGras has 2 options to decide in terms
of partners. The first one is the distributor that the company has been having for a while now (since
1996). The distributor had helped MontGras gain a good position in restaurants and other retail market
too (on premise and off premise). The second option is the leading supermarket chain Tesbury, which
with the help of few promotions made the total sales skyrocket in just a few days.
The most likely option to choose would be the currently existing distributor since completely siding
with Tesbury would majorly go against the positioning strategy planned out by MontGras. Also in my
opinion, the high volume in sales (at Tesbury) was only due to the promotion event which is just
temporary (3 days) and we will have to look into the big picture i.e. sales round the year.

Music A Luxury Of A Survival Tool
Music a Luxury of a Survival tool? Music is a survival tool Have you ever felt so lost before? Have
you ever had to plug your headphones in and just lose yourself in a day dream? Can music change
your perspective on life? Is music a luxury or do we need it to survive? We need music to survive, our
hormonal, depressed teenage years. All teenagers are struggling with trying to figure out who they are,
what they are going to do, and many other things. When people put on their favorite song, they
somehow find the answer to all those questions. They find the helpfulness in letting things go, and
letting new things begin in life. There are three things to prove that music is a survival tool, and they
are, change in mood, relaxation, and new perspective on life. First of all, music can change the mood
of anyone, or anything. The change in mood that music can do is outrageous. There could be kids
having a terrible day, and once they plug their headphones in, their mood has changed from zero to
one hundred in two minutes. Music had the power to change the sadness, depression, and happiness in
all people. To survive in a world that we live in, we have to have the audacity to let things go. When
we make it home, and all we want to do is cry over a bad day, we soon come to realize that the only
thing that can make us feel better it listening to some hard rock music, and imagining that you re in a
boxing ring with your enemy. There are so many moods, that you can go through in a

the victims possessions earlier and knew facts about the case, but her secret would get her in trouble if
she told the police because they would think that the only way she could know those things was if she
was the murderer. Even her own friends and family would most likely not believe how she found out
details about the murder, and if her secret got out it could even get Evie killed if the wrong person

Effective Domain
Affective domain is the only domain that does not reflect what we teach our students as in specific
skills or knowledge, but more of how the students use the information that we have given them, and
then add in an emotional component. Not all students come from a caring, loving or compassionate
back ground or family life, so the classroom may be the place to start the learning of respect, positive
attitude and values necessary for a successful medical professional. The affective domain learning
brings the lesson into an active student centered learning environment where emotions can be a highly
motivating tool. Bloom s Taxonomy disseminates the affective domain into five learning levels;
receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and characterizing. Although cognitive in nature, the first
or basic level is simply receiving the information, whether done by hearing, seeing or reading. Three
additional levels brings the student to the final level of characterizing, which is considered mastering
the domain. Characterization is obtained when the student s behavior pattern has inscribed the values
they have learned, allowing these values to enhanced their patient care. ... Show more content on

Examples Of Reoccurring Motifs In Literature
There are many different motifs themes in literature, but some of them are reoccurring. Examples of
this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen
Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in
Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero,
and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about
the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America,
and science. To start off, one of the reoccurring motifs is the idea of fear the theme that pertains to the
motif, is fear is stronger than the feared. Anderson has almost written her book around this idea,

She is scared because she feels abandoned and alone, not because she has seen a dead body or saw her
mother order her to leave her alone. Poe has also demonstrated this idea of fear being stronger than the
feared in his book. In his short story it illustrates, All of these and security were within. Without was
the Red Death. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a
horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves
getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in
his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time
had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Just like every
other passage, the people are not scared of a bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought
that not even Gods teachers are safe from this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the

An Actor Prepares By Constantin Stanislavski
All I can do is to help you feel what it is. Even to do that requires great patience, for I shall devote our
whole course to it. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole
system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying,
transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov,
teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin
Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three

inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a

be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or
ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of
the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going
over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of
the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself,

The Plan For Public Health And Safety
The next component of the General Plan is the plan for public health and safety which addresses
issues of: Geology and Seismicity, Flooding and Drainage, Noise, Air Installation Land Use
Compatibility, Hazardous Materials, Crime Prevention and Protection Services, Fire Prevention and
Suppression Services, Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Medical Facilities. The issue of geology and
seismicity is important to the Lancaster area at large due to its location being less than ten miles south
of the San Andreas Fault. Major earthquakes in the area present a problem for citizen s safety and
possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage. Because Lancaster exists
within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One of the current propositions is to
include flood water basins. The water basins to mitigate for the 100 year flood are essentially large
ditches on the corner of neighborhood streets. When a water basin sits in the middle of a
neighborhood it is not a functional part of the surrounding environment and can become an eyesore in
a community. This probably causes the NIMBY ism around water basins, no matter how beneficial
they may be. Noise is a very prevalent issue in Lancaster, due to the amount of aeronautical activity
conducted on EAFB. The City has rezoned the flight area in order to decrease the amount of overhead
flights in the urbanized areas. This plan is mimicked in the Air Installation Land Use Compatibility
portion.

Scorpio Vs Scorpio
SCORPIO WITH ARIES: At first this will be very bold. Both signs are ruled by Mars and co ruled by
Mars. Aries is ready, willing, and able to sexually experiment in ways that will make Scorpio very
controlling and jealous. Conflicts surround other departments. Both want to take control when it
comes to making decisions. Since Mars rules the will force, their wills clash. These two truly require
an adjustment as this is a quincunx aspect. Technically Aries dominates and Scorpio manages.
However, those two actions are very similar in nature. Scorpio s lack of trust and brooding demeanor

Forbidden City
Chinese Culture
The Forbidden City
Introduction
The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the mid Ming Dynasty to the end of the
Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, and now houses the Palace Museum. It was built
from 1406 to 1420 by the third Ming emperor Yongle, who upon usurping the throne, determined to
move his capital north from Nanjing to Beijing. In 1911 the Qing dynasty fell to the republican
revolutionaries. The last emperor, Puyi溥儀, continued to live in the palace after his abdication until
he was expelled in 1924. Twenty four emperors lived and ruled from this palace during this 500 year
span. The Forbidden City is a translation of the Chinese name Zijin Cheng紫禁城. The name Zijin

These were laid out precisely in accordance with a code of architectural hierarchy, which designated
specific features to reflect the paramount authority and status of the emperor. No ordinary mortal

The Last Owner Puyi溥儀 After the republican revolution, this Palace as a whole would have been
sequestered by the Nationalist government were it not for the Articles of Favorable Treatment of the
Qing House 清室優待條件which allowed Puyi 溥儀to live on in the Inner Court after his abdication.
Meanwhile, all of the imperial treasures from palaces in Rehe (today s Chengde承德) and Mukden
(today s Shenyang沈陽) were moved to the Forbidden City for public display in History Museum
established at the Outer Court in 1914.[3]
In 1924, during a coup launched by the warlord Feng Yuxiang馮玉祥, Puyi was expelled from the
Forbidden City and the management of the palace fell to the charge of a committee set up to deal with
the concerns of the deposed imperial family. The committee began a sorting and counting of the
imperial treasures. A year of intense preparations later, its members arranged a grand ceremony on 10
October 1925 in front of the Palace of Heavenly Purity乾清門to mark the inception of the Palace
Museum.

Harm Reduction Essay examples
Harm reduction is based on the premise that people are responsible for their behaviour, that they
maker personal choices that affect their health and well being, and that they can make safer and better
decisions if given useful and honest information (Mathre, 2002, p. 106). Harm reduction recognizes

reduction of harm is a step in the right direction, and the amount of success is measured by the client s

Gregory L. Nun WOAC Class 03 14 Dr. Boyd L. Dastrup October 20, 2014 Introduction Known as
Operation Watch on the Rhein, Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein in German, Germany launched one of
the last and deadliest counteroffensive operations against Allied forces along the Western Front of the
European Theater during World War II. The primary goal was to split the American and British
defenses in two and capture Antwerp to regain control and use of the harbor, encircle the American
and British armies in the area, sever the alliance between the U.S. and Britain, and to force
negotiations for a peace treaty with the U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In September, Hitler announces and starts the planning for a major counteroffensive on the Allied
Forces along the Western Front through the Ardennes region, which was lightly defended due to the
rapid advance of forces and the long logistical routes needed to keep the forward units supplied and
operational. Attempting to launch a counteroffensive on the Allies would be a risky decision and
move. On October 8, Generaloberst Alfred Jodl presented Hitler with 5 initial plans for approval, all
were rejected. Jodl then submitted 2 additional plans on October 11, with a combination of the two
plans being approved. It was from this combination that the Ardennes plan, named Operation Watch
on the Rhein, was initiated. A couple of days later the Ardennes plan was briefed to the senior ranking
officers in the German army. The primary units assigned to Operation Watch on the Rhein were given
their Order of Battle and Objectives: Operation Wacht am Rhein: Army Group B Order of Battle and

India, China And South Africa
INTRODUCTION.
BRICS is an emerging geopolitical acronym that has influenced the international system one way or
another. BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. They share a common
political objective which is state sovereignty while increasing economic and social independence as
well as interdependence. India is one of countries in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and
South Africa) group which have been recognized for its phenomenal economic growth because of
globalization and this has moved the country from being considered a poor nation to being a rising
middle class country (Rao, 2004). India is a good example of a country that have benefitted from
globalization in some respects. It sustained a high and accelerated growth rate over the past 25 years
making it the fourth largest economy in the world next to China. The Indian economy has done very
well in terms of the growth of the GDP (about 6 per cent per year in the real terms in the 1990s, rising
to more than 7 per cent in the last decade (Jean, Dreze Amartya Sen, 2013). To understand India s
development, it is necessary to understand its demography, its structure and characteristics. It is not
only the largest democracy in the world, but it also the second largest country in the world because of
its population (Raj, 2004, p.401). As of 2014, it has a population of about 1,236,344,631, it rose by
1.25 per cent over the last years (Europa World Online, 2015). In terms of natural

Neil was originally a smart student who would ve easily got into college. He liked to act, so he joined
the biggest play of the school. He asked his father if he could join the play, because Mr. Keiting said
there was a chance that if Neil told his father about how he felt about the play then he might let him

has a web based interface. More specifically, it is a log management application. The reason why I
find it so fascinating is because of how easy it is to find the information needed for how much data it

Branched Chain Amino Acids Analysis
The Efficiency of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)
Nowadays, it seems like every new supplement is the greatest at building muscle, improving
performance or burning fat. With so many claims from name brand supplement companies, it can be
hard for individuals to weed out the good from the bad. In order to understand if a supplement is right
for you, you need to remember what the point of supplementation is.
Why do we need supplements?
The point of supplementation is to obtain a nutrient that your body is not receiving or not receiving
sufficient amounts through diet alone. In this article, we ll discuss whether BCAA s are something you
need to incorporate into your diet, or if you re just pissing away your money. Literally.
What are Branched Chain Amino Acids?
First off, let s review what Branched Chain Amino Acids are (BCAA s for short). BCAA s are a
combination of three specific amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. These amino acids; leucine,
isoleucine, and valine are found abundantly in animal products ... Show more content on

But as far us gym rats, we probably won t see any benefit. In terms of reducing muscle soreness,
BCAAs have been proven beneficial. But remember, these studies used just BCAA supplementation
alone. Most Whey protein shakes will contain these same levels of BCAAs, so additionally BCAA
supplementation may not be necessary. Lastly, those who have dietary restrictions from animal based
products could see the biggest impact from BCAA supplementation, as BCAAs are found scarce in the
plant based protein category.
At the end of the day, whenever you re looking into trying out a new supplement, do your homework.
Research peer reviewed articles and studies about the supplement, and compare the results with your
own training goals. Supplements like BCAAs can help, but the greatest supplement of all is the blood,
sweat and tears you put into your training

The F Word By Marcus Schulzke Analysis
Summary Marcus Schulzke s article South Park and the Transformation of Meaning looks at a
particular episode, The F Word and explores its impact as well as its comment on society. Schulzke
begins by commenting on South Park s history of satire and by pointing out that the show s creators
generally avoid adamantly propagating the ideas on one side of an issue. He also makes a point that
the writers consistently favor gay rights and oppose censorship , so when the two issues come up in
one episode they will be sure to make a strong argument. The article then goes on to provide a
synopsis of the episode while simultaneously addressing the questions and moral dilemmas that the
content brings to the surface. Some of these include the process of changing the meaning of a word
and the language gap between children and adults. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gay rights group GLAAD argues the idea that the word remains a hateful slur, a conduit for
harassment and bullying. Schulzke calls this response a thoughtful objection raised by those with the
best perspectives of the word s effects. Although this is true, the word will never change its meaning if
society is afraid to use it in any other ways. The fear of the word itself is simply extra fuel that allows
it to survive as a hateful slur. It is entirely possible for the word faggot to change its meaning in the
near future, but it is also important to be aware of the population s current understanding. Finally,
satire can always be misconstrued, and those watching the show who may be young or naïve could
potentially misinterpret the show s overall message. They may think it is acceptable to use the word
faggot after watching the episode, even in circumstances where it could offend those around them. All
of these points must be taken into account when criticizing South Park s bold statement within The F

How Does Homelessness Affect Our Society
Every night across America, roughly 32,000 people between the ages of 18 and 24 are homeless
(Youth Homelessness). In the same night, hundreds of thousands of girls say goodnight to their fellow
sorority sisters before crawling into their beds. As a Panhellenic community, University of Nebraska
gives girls the opportunities to create friendships, form connections, and build strong women. We are
called to be active members of society, and use our fortunate lives to change the world we live in.
After visiting Community First! Village of Austin, Texas, it has become aware to me the severity of
homelessness in America and how simple it can be to change it. Community First! not only builds tiny
homes through donations for homeless people around Austin, but gives them a community to become
a part of. Donating money to build a tiny house at Community First! Village would not only
strengthen UNL s Panhellenic Council s generous reputation, but also support the movement to end
homelessness through providing a home and community to a young outcasted individual.
Community First! Village is sponsored by Mobile Loaves Fishes, a catholic charity that has has grown
to working every night, all year long, providing food, clothing, and hygiene products to the homeless
in surrounding cities of Austin. They have served over 5 million meals with the help of 19,000
volunteers. Their recent innovation (Community First!) is a 27 acre development that has been
building a tiny home community for homeless people to buy for inexpensive prices. The village
features miniature neighborhoods of homes, a church, garden, medical facility, market, movie theater,
and other amenities. The project continues to grow as donations and volunteers come in for
construction of housing and purchases of needed materials and goods. As of now, the village has
housed almost 200 former homeless men and women. Mobile Loaves Fishes continues to house more
people as construction is completed and word has spread to other major cities of the work this
organization has founded and grown. Many of the people living in the village have come from a
variety of lives before moving into the community. Some old, some new, and often have been alone
most of their life.

The World Of North America
The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to
European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South
America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their
existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some
historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all
people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists
experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom
was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious
persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries.
The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England.
So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680
Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This
soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be

around 1632, in Maryland ...the early colonists included a number of Catholic gentlemen and priests,
and Calvert appointed many Catholics to public office. (27,

The Importance Of A Successful Firm Is Good Communication
The cornerstone to a successful firm is good communication. Without it, there is confusion,
resentment, and a blurry vision for the direction the company wants to go. In order to ensure there is
successful communication amongst the managers and its employees of the firm, a communication
contract should be created. This contract establishes ethical communication and rules for which each
individual is to follow when communicating with others. Aside from creating excellent
communication within the firm, the communication contract creates long lasting benefits for the firm
and creates a solid foundation.
Other communication strategies may create short term profits but do not have the long lasting benefits
of an ethical communication contract. The communication contract I would propose to the firm I work
for would have six clauses. They would be the immunity clause, the respect clause, the need for
change clause, the switched roles clause, the bottom up clause, and the key focus clause. The
immunity clause stipulates that anything said or brought about is done so without any consequence.
The motivation behind this clause is that too many good suggestions or ideas or constructive criticisms
are held back because employees fear that they will be reprimanded or even lose their job because of
the criticism. With the immunity clause employees can share their true feelings and critiques and that
will be honored rather than rebuked. A companion to the immunity clause is the respect

Analysis Of Robert Frost s White
In 1922, Robert Frost wrote the poem In White. Frost then revised this poem fourteen years later and
published it under the title Design. On the surface, the speaker in the poem describes a situation in
which a spider has killed a moth on a heal all flower. But, as the layers are peeled back, there arises a
conflict between the speaker and him/herself. The internal conflict stems from the world s design or
lack thereof. Frost takes a simple thought on design and makes the reader question life and the nature
of creation through a random, haphazard occurrence of a spider, a moth, and a flower. To start the
poem, the speaker stumbles upon a fat and white spider on a white heal all, holding up a moth (1 2).
This doesn t tell the full story, but it does show the reader that there is a random occurrence between a
spider, a moth, and a flower. As shown in the legend, a heal all flower is usually blue but in this case it
is white. The spider, which is generally dark colored, is white as well. And the moth that is in the
spider s hands is like a white piece of rigid satin cloth . (3) A rigid, satin cloth symbolizes a coffin
which shows that the moth in the spider s arms is dead. After the first three lines there are two
conclusions to be made: (1) There is a random occurrence of a rare, white spider climbing on a rare,
white heal all flower; (2) The spider represents darkness and evil. It is using the flower as camouflage
to kill the moth. Finally, showing the characters

King Lear Vs A Thousand Acres Analysis
King Lear vs A Thousand Acres
While it may appear that Jane Smiley s A Thousand Acres is nothing but a modernized interpretation
of Shakespeare s King Lear, one can see that below the surface these two tales are anything but alike.
Through Smiley s characters Larry, Caroline, Ginny and Rose, it is easy to conclude that they contrast
their parallels, Lear, Cordelia, Goneril and Rose, greatly from Shakespeare s play. Among the multiple
themes that make this conclusion possible, the most prominent are the contrasting themes of
relationships, outcomes, character development and motivations.
At first, Shakespeare portrays King Lear as an arrogant man whose only concern is himself; Lear has
no problem relishing in his title and power as ruler, but has trouble carrying out the responsibilities of
a king and doing good for his people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relationship with her father Larry, she was more or less forced into caring for him. Due to her

protect him from her sisters who she believes are trying to hurt him. While Rose tries to convince
Caroline that Ginny and her are in fact trying to help, We did everything for you! We saved you from

A large amount of the city was destroyed despite the earthquake proof designs of buildings and
infrastructure. Short cuts in the building process have been seen especially in the hanshin expressway,
where the vertical reinforcement of the piers holding up the road did not reach the top of the piers,
which is where they snapped and the expressway fell over. to stop this from happening again, builders
have to make sure that the vertical reinforcements reach the top of the piers. another way of
preventing damage is to place rubber blocks under structures such as bridges to minimise the shock of
the earthquake. another cause the of damage from the earthquake was tall buildings collapsing on each

eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing
breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or
someone you know is diagnosed with it.
Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can
travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it
has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health
Center, 2014).
Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In
fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common
cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded
by lung cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can be lifesaving. If breast cancer is detected early on,

The Chris Ofili Controversy Essay example
The Chris Ofili Controversy
Most people may not know who Chris Ofili is, but chances are that many of them know one of his
works, his painting The Holy Virgin Mary , displayed at the Brooklyn Museum of Art s Sensation
exhibition in 1999. The painting was extremely controversial because of Mary s exposed breast being
made of elephant dung and because of the porno cutouts surrounding Mary. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
and others, saying that such works were not appropriate for public display, immediately attacked the
painting, along with the entire showcase of art by different artists. These sharp criticisms were an
extreme injustice, condemning the work The Holy Virgin Mary based on prejudiced views of what is
and what is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to gain a better understanding of how Ofili sees the work, it is important to look at the
background of the artist. Chris Ofili was born in Manchester, England, though his parents were both
born in Lagos. It is interesting to note that Ofili was raised as a Catholic, and even served as an altar
boy. He also continues to attend church, though not regularly. By the time his Holy Virgin Mary was
displayed, Ofili was already a rising young artist in England, having been included three times in the
Whitworth Young Contemporaries shows and winning a British Council Travel fellowship to
Zimbabwe, where he claims to have had an epiphany. While in Zimbabwe, he hit upon the idea of
sticking elephant dung to his art, and began using it regularly. Ofili liked working with it so much that
he not only used it in his paintings, but mounted his works on clumps of it, saying, It s a way of
raising the paintings up from the ground and giving them a feeling that they ve come from the earth
rather than simply being hung on a wall (qtd. in Cosentino 2). He enjoys using elephant dung so much
that he plans to continue using it, and although his first batch of dung was from Zimbabwe, he now
gets deliveries from the London Zoo. It is from his African background and experience in Zimbabwe
that he has gotten the ideas for his works, and it must be realized when looking at The Holy Virgin
Mary that it is based

New Jersey V. T. L. O Case Study
New Jersey v. T.L.O (1985) In my case overview decision, I chose New Jersey v. T.L.O (1985). This
case there was a high school student who felt she was searched illegally. T.L.O. was a high school
student. School officials looked through her handbag presuming she had cigarettes. The officials found
cigarettes, a little measure of pot, and a paper containing the names of students who owed T.L.O. cash.
T.L.O. was accused of having pot on her person in a school. Before trial, T.L.O. moved the courts to
dismiss that there was evidence found when they searched her property, however the Court denied her
request to remove the evidence. The Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court of New Jersey, Middlesex

Love Of A Mother Essay
A LOVE OF A MOTHER
Mother is the woman who gave birth to you. Mother is the one who knows all about you and Mother
is the one who sacrifice all for you. So all mother in the world should be respected because we all
know that they deserve it and always remember that we are here because of them. Love, respect and
care your mother as you can, Because if you love someone you feel that they are very important to
you and if you respect you have a good opinion of them, and lastly if you care you feel that it is
important and are concerned about it.
She is the first person to sacrifice her life by giving birth to all of us children. She taught us how to
walk, talk and smile. Our first mentor and teacher in helping us determine what is right and wrong.
That is how our mothers are! Some moms, especially in our new generation evolve as the sole
providers of the family. Many are saying that mothers are the emotional backbones of the family. If
problems occur they are the strongest person to hold back and we can ... Show more content on

She is her children s best friend. A mother is someone who loves you unconditionally and more than
life itself. Mothers are angels in disguise sent from God to watch and help us through our troublesome
times. We hardly stop to think of how they feel and if they need help, we abuse them in a sense by not
appreciating them enough. The definition for love is a great liking or affection. But love is something
stronger. Love doesn t give up, doesn t have a swelled head and doesn t force itself on others. Love isn
t jealous, is always forgiving and without love, we are nothing. A mother s love is a bond that connects
us together, even before birth. It is stronger than any feeling of hate or fury. Love takes on everything,
even if it can t carry it all. Mothers may seem just like ordinary people, but they are really super
heroes in disguise! They show their love in a million different ways every

Continuity And Changes In Ancient Civilization
Many ancient civilizations have changed the way we live today. Sumerians invented the first
language, Hammurabi invented the first set of laws, Egyptians created pyramids, and so many other
ways that ancient people made the building blocks of the way our society lives today. It amazes me
how God gave us brains to figure out ways to make life so much easier!
In Mesopotamia, people had no money so they traded barley, pottery, fish, and other foods and
inventions they made. They needed a way to keep up with what they traded, so Sumerians created the
first form of writing over 5000 years ago which they called Cuneiform. They used Cuneiform for
business dealings such as trading barley, keeping records, and new ideas changed between different
generations.

The road team must deal with more pressure. More fans are there to support the home team. Because
of this, lines are typically skewed against the road team. However, keep in mind that not all these
advantages are created equal. Some teams play better on the road. Some home teams fail to impress
their home crowd. Consider making bets against teams that perform badly at home and for teams that
play well away. With ice hockey Bitcoin betting tips like this, you can find good value on road teams
with chances of winning. Next on the ice hockey Bitcoin betting tips list is knowing who s playing in
goal. See to it that the start goalie is guarding your precious bets. Check if the team is playing back to

I Want A Wife, By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay, I Want a Wife , she explains the roles that wives performed in the mid 1900 s.
Brady has an incredibly sarcastic tone to her essay and finds it hysterical that husbands want their
wives to fulfill their commands. In the past, women were expected to stay at home and take care of
their children. Their lives consisted of cooking, cleaning, and making sure they greet their husbands
when they came home from work. But times have changed; the roles of women have evolved. Now,
we see women doing all types of things. They have more opportunities to do what men can do. Since
the 1950s, women have experienced a huge change in their status as wives, which can be seen through
their ever changing independency, work status, and appearance.
Nowadays, women are more independent. Ever since the 19th amendment passed, women were able
to vote. This was one of the first steps that helped women get to where they are today. Voting has
allowed women to speak their minds. It was the first step to prove that both men and women deserve
to be equal. It was soon more socially acceptable for women to choose their own paths. Men no longer
were able to legally dictate their lives. For example, not too long ago, a women needed a man to sign
for permission whenever she wanted to open a bank account or purchase a car. Now, women do not
have to worry about this as it isn t a concern anymore. Women are now allowed to buy new homes and
property without having to be married. This allows

Jason Terwiliger s Problems With His Restaurant At The...
Jason Terwiliger, a new member of the finance committee at the Windshore Country Club, recently
found some problems with the financing of the F B outlets. His upscale restaurant in the city is
extremely successful, and he hopes to bring some helpful ideas to the Windshore Country Club s F B
operations on the outskirts of the city. One main concern Jason has is all of the differences in the 4 F B
outlets and that they all come out of the same kitchen. He says that the club s food cost is at 42%
while his restaurant is at 28%, which is a huge difference. Steve should respond to this concern by
telling Jason that although his restaurant only has one outlet for his kitchen, most clubs have many
outlets only run from one kitchen, and while he can t change that directly, hopefully other solutions

He points out that the chef must make about 6 ducks early in the day to prepare the meal in case
someone orders it, but often that food is thrown away and wasted. Steve should inform Jason that this
may be more uncommon in the restaurant field, but in clubs, specialty dishes that are prepared daily
are very common and also expected by members who want the best food they can receive. One way to
eliminate such a high food waste for Steve may be to prepare less duck each day, and if they run out
they have other high quality dishes to replace them. Another issue was the use of all fresh ingredients.
Jason appreciates the quality of food but also states that frozen ingredients can offer nearly the same
quality for some foods for much less of a cost. Depending on the quality of the country club and how
exclusive they are, Steve may tell Jason that they can only use fresh ingredients in their kitchen, but
may also take him up on his idea and incorporate some frozen foods in certain dishes. Maybe dishes
not as large, like appetizers or fast food outlets, could use frozen foods more often to cut

My Company Essay
What is the name of your company?
The name of my company is Florely. Most people would name their business after their family name,
such as their last name. For an example, Johnson Johnson was named after Robert Wood Johnson I.
Naming your business after your surname could be nice, but it wouldn t be original. It also depends on
the product that the company is trying to sell. Naming the company Florely was all behind my product
or products. If you didn t get it from the name, the company is all about selling flowers. Florely is a
company that has thrived off of selling flowers since the twentieth of May, 2012. All of Florely s

When the plant decides to set seed, our employees have to shear the plants to encourage the plant to
grow. Shearing means cutting the plant back by removing majority of the plant without interfering
with its structure. Pansies love fertilizer but giving them too much will make the plants weak. So, we
only renew their fertilizer once a month. During its growth period there might be weak flowers and we
go through a process of deheading the pansy. Cutting off the dead parts of the plant will increase
bloomage of flower. Pansies grow throughout the wet season because during the fall it rains
constantly. These type of plants love the full sun but partial shade. We couldn t figure out why our
plants weren t growing. So, as a company, Florely decided to hire experts to come and investigate.
This type of cold, wet, and partially dark area bring insects such as gastropods (slugs). Florely as a
whole has done thorough research and came up with a couple of ideas. These ideas consisted of
thinning out the soil or trying out a different brand of fertilizer. We tried both methods for over a
month, but nothing worked and it cost the company a lot of money.
3)What are at least three issues that can solve the company s problem or issue?
As previously stated, Florely s issue is that slugs are causing a decrease in the growth of our famous
pansies for the fall

  • 2. The Gilded And Progressive Eras Kailyn McComb History 1151 Professor Rob Denning Date Submitted Reforming America The gilded and progressive eras in America were times of expansion, urbanization, and what seemed like a golden pathway to an industrialized future. In the 1850s, railroads were being built all across America, and with that came the rise of the steel and oil industries, as well as dramatic population increases in the newly urbanized cities. Such a change in society created a gap between social classes causes incredible amounts of poverty for many, and incredible wealth for few. Three main struggles during this crucial time in America were political corruption, the rapid expansion of urban cities, and the unfair, and unsafe working conditions. Through these difficult times, many different types of reform were supported, but few were actually effective. One of the largest problems facing Americans during the gilded age and progressive era was political corruption. The late 1800s and early 1900s were filled with political machines such as George Plunkitt and James Gillespie Blaine. Plunkitt was known as the leader of Tammany Hall, an Irish based organization that was heavy in politics during the 19th century. Politicians affiliated with Tammany Hall would provide jobs, money or other favors and in return would receive government favors. Although Plunkitt believed he was doing no wrong, many Americans saw this as taking the patronage system for granted. During an interview, Plunkitt said, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Memory Loss In Finding Dory If someone were to casually mention the name, Dory, it is possible that one would immediately think of the iconic, little Royal Blue Tang Fish from the film franchise, Finding Nemo (Stanton, 2013). More recently and long overdue, Finding Dory was added (Stanton, 2016). As a key element to the plot of the first film, it would be hard not to remember her. Ironically, remembering is something that the character struggles with throughout the movie, admitting as much to Marlin, another main character, after a misunderstanding occurs between them while he frantically searches for his missing son, Nemo. • 5. Essay Mending Wall What is so important about mending a wall? Robert frost a down to earth, phenomenon has used his supernatural skills to write a poem which may seem to be a simple, ordinary poem, yet what lays hidden behind the veils may be unraveled. That is the spiritual world that you and me may learn to understand the philosophical basis of human nature that provokes the human revolution. Believe it or not this poem was ingeniously devised by Robert Frost to articulately open up a world of ideas that acumen imagination and its complexities. That is what I will be elaborating on in terms of textual evidence. Like many of Frost s poems, mending wall involves a journey. We are introduced to two farmers in an annual meeting at the wall that separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like tree felling, sheep shearing and crop harvesting. It is a ritual which has it s own paradox, it causes two neighbors to cooperate so that the wall which separate them to be sustained. It divides even their energies at this moment as they keep the wall between them as they walk its line. The definition of the ritual in strong symbolic terms is a statement of humankind s determination to hang on to all that divides it. Furthermore in this stanza they fix the wall in springtime, after wintertime, when the frozen ground swell has done its work of destruction. Frost feels a sense of mischief, an urge to question deep rooted and unreasoned attitudes. So he questions his neighbour s motto: why do good fences make good neighbours? He uses the most elementary of examples: if you had cows you would of course want to wall them in and stop them from roaming into others properties. But he points out the obvious, simple truth, in the most simple of language: But here there are no cows. Surely, such a persuasive argument must make his neighbour rethink his preoccupation that you need walls between you to make good neighbours. Frost questions the reasons for the wall being built in the first place. He sees a couple of reasons for building a wall: if there is something you need to keep in or out, build a wall; if some trouble can result from open spaces, build a wall. Otherwise why have one? He climaxes his argument by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Meaning and Implication of Oral History Essay The Meaning and Implication of Oral History In the United States the institutional beginnings of oral history can be traced back to Allan Nevins s Oral History Project at Columbia University in 1948. As a field it developed in the early 1980s and at this time advocates started to seriously reflect on its methods and implications. Today oral history and public history are considered the growth engine of the historical discipline, absorbing many historians who are competing in a tight job market. However, the importance of oral history goes beyond practical considerations. Its methodological innovations enhance yet at the same time challenge the discipline. In this paper I will discuss some of the key issues anyone who intends to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has also been viewed as an alternative that allows scholars to get around the historical discipline altogether. For Michael Frisch, who has reflected on the craft and implication of oral history for two decades, these two visions of more history or no history are not entirely satisfactory. Oral history has a greater potential because it can make history more meaningful it can be a qualitative improvement, it can make for better history. Functioning within the realms of history, this approach can enrich an already extant knowledge base. It can also be more responsive and reciprocal than the history that is written exclusively for an academic audience and lacks relevance for the public at large. Even if oral history is conducted within institutional confines, it has potential to reach the masses. In other words, oral history can be used for social and political purposes more readily than a monograph on an obscure study that is only interesting to a handful of scholars. Frisch sees the challenge of oral history in learning how social history, community studies, and public presentation can combine in scholarship that is at once intellectually trenchant, politically meaningful, and sharable with the communities from which it comes. Frisch s call for political sensitivity and the democratization of history has been echoed by many of his colleagues, including the British sociologist Paul ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This connects to the theme of expressing one s feelings through cooking. The food Tita cooked, provoked different feelings and taste, on others, based on the relationship that the individual had with Tita. However, this time the food instead experienced Tita s feelings. Never just put your hand into a rabbit s cage that looks like it is feeling threatened or looks very scared and tense. A rabbit could be nice one day then be ready to attack the next day. They may fool you by how cute they look but they have a temperament just like any other animal. Each rabbit has their own personality so you should never judge all rabbits by how one rabbit acts. You may think that you can t run by genetics and penalize a rabbit for being mean cause it has the chance to pass that gene on, but someone else might cause they don t want to keep mean rabbits or sell someone a mean rabbit. • 9. The And Hopi And Zuni Tribes The Earth existed for at least 4.5 billion years before modern humans came into being. The different cultures of the world have different ideas or stories of how humans came to be. The Hopi and Zuni tribes have creation stories that were passed from generation to generation. These stories claim that the world, despite being made before man, is meant to be ruled by and sustain mankind. Daniel Quinn s novel, Ishmael, imagines its own creation myths to showcase how these stories work and the messages that they send. The Native American myths referenced in this paper and in Ishmael rank mankind as more important than the Earth through the timeframe of the creation stories, the way Earth is described, and how mankind interacts with the Earth. Stories take place in time. Creation stories commonly take place in the time before mankind is created and end once humans are roaming the Earth, and the myths of the Hopi and Zuni are no different. When the creation myths end at that point, they are marking the emergence of humans as the most important aspect of the story, and of all time. The Zuni creation myth demonstrates this idea when it says, Sky Father, too, gives to humans (Leeming 298). That quote is from the last paragraph of the Zuni creation myth and is an example of how mankind s creation is what ends creation myths. The last few paragraphs of the Zuni creation myth deal only with mankind s creation and living beings that are created for mankind s enjoyment and sustenance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact Of Modernism Jonathan Glance , author of the book 20th Century Architecture ; The Structures That Shaped The Century describes modernism as an attitude rather than a style an attempt to free the architect from the rules of convention. Form following function was an attribute adopted by architectural modernists. As a result of this, modern architecture is no longer ornamentally focused but uses materials such as concrete, glass, steel and wood for functional construction. With reference to Le Corbusier and his architectural masterpiece, Ville Savoye, this essay will discuss and analyze the impact the industrial revolution had on modernism, the influence the Bauhaus had on architectural development, social and economical effects that influenced social trends, how modernism was received and reviewed by society and why the modernist dream ultimately failed. Even though the branding as a Chilean Wine is easily applied onto MontGras, there are many factors in its control which can make sure that the company dominates the market by having a bigger share as it wants to. Thus, Cabo imports are the best option for MontGras at the moment. The UK market with respect to MontGras: Unlike the fragmented US market, the UK was not tiered and it was also one of the most competitive export sources in the World. One major point to consider in this market is the tax that is levied on alcoholic drinks which is 1 pound per bottle regardless of the retail price. This would also mean that the export of Reservas would be more beneficial as compared to Varietals (this is in line with the company s strategic decisions as well). Again in this case, MontGras has 2 options to decide in terms of partners. The first one is the distributor that the company has been having for a while now (since 1996). The distributor had helped MontGras gain a good position in restaurants and other retail market too (on premise and off premise). The second option is the leading supermarket chain Tesbury, which with the help of few promotions made the total sales skyrocket in just a few days. The most likely option to choose would be the currently existing distributor since completely siding with Tesbury would majorly go against the positioning strategy planned out by MontGras. Also in my opinion, the high volume in sales (at Tesbury) was only due to the promotion event which is just temporary (3 days) and we will have to look into the big picture i.e. sales round the year. ... Have you ever had to plug your headphones in and just lose yourself in a day dream? Can music change your perspective on life? Is music a luxury or do we need it to survive? We need music to survive, our hormonal, depressed teenage years. All teenagers are struggling with trying to figure out who they are, what they are going to do, and many other things. When people put on their favorite song, they somehow find the answer to all those questions. They find the helpfulness in letting things go, and letting new things begin in life. There are three things to prove that music is a survival tool, and they are, change in mood, relaxation, and new perspective on life. First of all, music can change the mood of anyone, or anything. The change in mood that music can do is outrageous. There could be kids having a terrible day, and once they plug their headphones in, their mood has changed from zero to one hundred in two minutes. Music had the power to change the sadness, depression, and happiness in all people. To survive in a world that we live in, we have to have the audacity to let things go. When we make it home, and all we want to do is cry over a bad day, we soon come to realize that the only thing that can make us feel better it listening to some hard rock music, and imagining that you re in a boxing ring with your enemy. Effective Domain Affective domain is the only domain that does not reflect what we teach our students as in specific skills or knowledge, but more of how the students use the information that we have given them, and then add in an emotional component. Not all students come from a caring, loving or compassionate back ground or family life, so the classroom may be the place to start the learning of respect, positive attitude and values necessary for a successful medical professional. The affective domain learning brings the lesson into an active student centered learning environment where emotions can be a highly motivating tool. Bloom s Taxonomy disseminates the affective domain into five learning levels; receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and characterizing. Although cognitive in nature, the first or basic level is simply receiving the information, whether done by hearing, seeing or reading. Examples of this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero, and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Just like every other passage, the people are not scared of a bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought that not even Gods teachers are safe from this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the ... In Crimes Against Humanity (1993) by Ward Churchill the author s purpose is to persuade society to make others see that the reasons for the sport s team s names are offensive, stereotypical, and nonsense. Crimes Against Humanity is about how Churchill perceives certain things on certain arguments. Crimes Against Humanity touches on the subject about native names, symbols, and images and how they are used incorrectly. In the phrase, Let s get just a little bit real here. Or, to be more exact, it will appear by itself after you have studied our whole system of acting and after you yourselves have made the experiment of initiating, clarifying, transforming, simple everyday human realities into crystals of artistic truth. Teacher Mr. Tortsov, teaches his students the fundaments in acting and how to be successful in its art, in Constantin Stanislavski s eye opening book, An Actor Prepares. Throughout reading his book, I learned three main lessons: how the outside impression of an actor looks or how the audience perceives them, the inner motivation and structure of an actor, and lastly, acting is an art and properly portraying a character through the art form. ... Whether that be through analyzing the text for overall theme, adaption to responses done by our scene partners or ensemble, being natural with movements and not mechanical, or working out the overall objective of the play. Analyzing the text of the play influences the character s motivation. If a character is going over to another character s house for no reason other than to hang out, then it slows down the pace of the show down and puts a stop in the energy of the show. Channeling the normal person inside myself, provides a more relatable character to the audience member. The overall objective of the show provides a reason or lesson for the whole play. The Plan For Public Health And Safety The next component of the General Plan is the plan for public health and safety which addresses issues of: Geology and Seismicity, Flooding and Drainage, Noise, Air Installation Land Use Compatibility, Hazardous Materials, Crime Prevention and Protection Services, Fire Prevention and Suppression Services, Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Medical Facilities. The issue of geology and seismicity is important to the Lancaster area at large due to its location being less than ten miles south of the San Andreas Fault. Major earthquakes in the area present a problem for citizen s safety and possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage. Because Lancaster exists within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One of the current propositions is to include flood water basins. The water basins to mitigate for the 100 year flood are essentially large ditches on the corner of neighborhood streets. When a water basin sits in the middle of a neighborhood it is not a functional part of the surrounding environment and can become an eyesore in a community. This probably causes the NIMBY ism around water basins, no matter how beneficial they may be. Noise is a very prevalent issue in Lancaster, due to the amount of aeronautical activity conducted on EAFB. The City has rezoned the flight area in order to decrease the amount of overhead flights in the urbanized areas. This plan is mimicked in the Air Installation Land Use Compatibility portion. ... India is one of countries in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) group which have been recognized for its phenomenal economic growth because of globalization and this has moved the country from being considered a poor nation to being a rising middle class country (Rao, 2004). The Indians had established their community systems around North and South America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries. Without it, there is confusion, resentment, and a blurry vision for the direction the company wants to go. This contract establishes ethical communication and rules for which each individual is to follow when communicating with others. Aside from creating excellent communication within the firm, the communication contract creates long lasting benefits for the firm and creates a solid foundation. Other communication strategies may create short term profits but do not have the long lasting benefits of an ethical communication contract. The communication contract I would propose to the firm I work for would have six clauses. They would be the immunity clause, the respect clause, the need for change clause, the switched roles clause, the bottom up clause, and the key focus clause. The immunity clause stipulates that anything said or brought about is done so without any consequence. The motivation behind this clause is that too many good suggestions or ideas or constructive criticisms are held back because employees fear that they will be reprimanded or even lose their job because of the criticism. • 36. Analysis Of Robert Frost s White In 1922, Robert Frost wrote the poem In White. Frost then revised this poem fourteen years later and published it under the title Design. On the surface, the speaker in the poem describes a situation in which a spider has killed a moth on a heal all flower. But, as the layers are peeled back, there arises a conflict between the speaker and him/herself. The internal conflict stems from the world s design or lack thereof. Frost takes a simple thought on design and makes the reader question life and the nature of creation through a random, haphazard occurrence of a spider, a moth, and a flower. To start the poem, the speaker stumbles upon a fat and white spider on a white heal all, holding up a moth (1 2). This doesn t tell the full story, but it does show the reader that there is a random occurrence between a spider, a moth, and a flower. As shown in the legend, a heal all flower is usually blue but in this case it is white. The spider, which is generally dark colored, is white as well. And the moth that is in the spider s hands is like a white piece of rigid satin cloth . (3) A rigid, satin cloth symbolizes a coffin which shows that the moth in the spider s arms is dead. After the first three lines there are two conclusions to be made: (1) There is a random occurrence of a rare, white spider climbing on a rare, white heal all flower; (2) The spider represents darkness and evil. It is using the flower as camouflage to kill the moth. Finally, showing the characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. King Lear Vs A Thousand Acres Analysis King Lear vs A Thousand Acres While it may appear that Jane Smiley s A Thousand Acres is nothing but a modernized interpretation of Shakespeare s King Lear, one can see that below the surface these two tales are anything but alike. Through Smiley s characters Larry, Caroline, Ginny and Rose, it is easy to conclude that they contrast their parallels, Lear, Cordelia, Goneril and Rose, greatly from Shakespeare s play. Among the multiple themes that make this conclusion possible, the most prominent are the contrasting themes of relationships, outcomes, character development and motivations. At first, Shakespeare portrays King Lear as an arrogant man whose only concern is himself; Lear has no problem relishing in his title and power as ruler, but has trouble carrying out the responsibilities of a king and doing good for his people. ... Due to her ignorance towards his molestation of Ginny and Rose, Caroline takes in her father and attempts to protect him from her sisters who she believes are trying to hurt him. While Rose tries to convince Caroline that Ginny and her are in fact trying to help, We did everything for you! We saved you from Daddy! Short cuts in the building process have been seen especially in the hanshin expressway, where the vertical reinforcement of the piers holding up the road did not reach the top of the piers, which is where they snapped and the expressway fell over. to stop this from happening again, builders have to make sure that the vertical reinforcements reach the top of the piers. another way of preventing damage is to place rubber blocks under structures such as bridges to minimise the shock of the earthquake. another cause the of damage from the earthquake was tall buildings collapsing on each other like dominoes. this can be prevented by building tall buildings further apart to stop the domino effect. many residential houses in kobe were traditional style houses with heavy roofs and and fragile wooden walls and supports. lots of the people who died in the earthquake were crushed by their heavy roofs falling on them. to prevent houses collapsing, houses need to be built with sturdier walls with lighter roofs. people who weren t crushed by houses were burnt by the fire that was fueled by the wooden houses. to prevent the effects of the fire, houses need to be built out of non flammable materials and be built further apart to stop the spread of the ... I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My mom s aunt had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and had it taken care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her body and eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or someone you know is diagnosed with it. Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded by lung cancer. The painting was extremely controversial because of Mary s exposed breast being made of elephant dung and because of the porno cutouts surrounding Mary. Chris Ofili was born in Manchester, England, though his parents were both born in Lagos. It is interesting to note that Ofili was raised as a Catholic, and even served as an altar boy. He also continues to attend church, though not regularly. By the time his Holy Virgin Mary was displayed, Ofili was already a rising young artist in England, having been included three times in the Whitworth Young Contemporaries shows and winning a British Council Travel fellowship to Zimbabwe, where he claims to have had an epiphany. While in Zimbabwe, he hit upon the idea of sticking elephant dung to his art, and began using it regularly. Ofili liked working with it so much that he not only used it in his paintings, but mounted his works on clumps of it, saying, It s a way of raising the paintings up from the ground and giving them a feeling that they ve come from the earth rather than simply being hung on a wall (qtd. in Cosentino 2). He enjoys using elephant dung so much that he plans to continue using it, and although his first batch of dung was from Zimbabwe, he now gets deliveries from the London Zoo. Brady has an incredibly sarcastic tone to her essay and finds it hysterical that husbands want their wives to fulfill their commands. In the past, women were expected to stay at home and take care of their children. Their lives consisted of cooking, cleaning, and making sure they greet their husbands when they came home from work. But times have changed; the roles of women have evolved. Now, we see women doing all types of things. They have more opportunities to do what men can do. Since the 1950s, women have experienced a huge change in their status as wives, which can be seen through their ever changing independency, work status, and appearance. Nowadays, women are more independent. Ever since the 19th amendment passed, women were able to vote. This was one of the first steps that helped women get to where they are today. Voting has allowed women to speak their minds. It was the first step to prove that both men and women deserve to be equal. It was soon more socially acceptable for women to choose their own paths. Men no longer were able to legally dictate their lives. For example, not too long ago, a women needed a man to sign for permission whenever she wanted to open a bank account or purchase a car. Now, women do not have to worry about this as it isn t a concern anymore. Women are now allowed to buy new homes and property without having to be married. This allows ...
