Cross Cultural Virtual Teams Essay
Introduction
The evolution of globalization and the advancement of communication technology have increased the
amount of cross cultural, virtual teams in existence in today s business world. Cross cultural, virtual
teams can leverage on the diverse experiences of its members to achieve good results even without the
members meeting face to face.
Having good leadership of any project team is undoubtedly essential for the success of the team. It is
thus imperative for virtual, cross cultural teams to be led properly and carefully so that their cultural
diversity and virtual presence does not become a source of conflict and eventual failure.
Challenges posed by cultural diversity among team members
There are a number of challenges that a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it easier for them to understand words spoken than between members of cross cultural
teams where first languages and accents may differ. For example, I work with a multicultural team and
I often find it difficult to understand my Turkish colleagues when they try to speak English. Many
times I ask questions so that I can get the message they are trying to pass across. It however becomes
frustrating sometimes because a lot of important information often gets lost in the discussion because I
can t understand properly. This has caused delay in meeting business targets in the past.
Cross cultural team members also face a challenge of having to understand that other team members
possibly have a different idea of how to treat their bosses. Drawing from the example of my job team
at work, I noticed that my American team members do not really run their ideas through our team
leader before taking actions. However, my Turkish boss does not like this as he comes from a culture
where everything a subordinate does should be run through the boss for approval. This had caused
strains in the team s effectiveness in the past; until my American team members adapted to fit our
team leader s wishes.
As with my previous example, my American partners often make quick decisions without really
examining the complete consequences of their decisions. This can be traced to their quick and sharp
approach to life while my Turkish and Egyptian counterparts like to look through

Diet Soda Persuasive Speech
Diet sodas contain one of the most controversial and researched chemicals in our food. Aspartame is
an intense sweetener substituted for sugar in soft drinks and food. Aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and
methanol are the three basics chemicals that make up aspartame. What people may not know is that
these 3 chemicals can be very harmful to our bodies and could even become deadly if not kept in
proper conditions or if too much is consumed. We should not be putting this artificial sweetener into
our system as there are many health risks that come with its consumption. There are over 6,000
products worldwide that contain aspartame, with diet soda being the most common product that
contains and is used with Aspartame. It is also the most consumed ... Show more content on

With public advertising glorifying diet soda and artificial sweeteners, people are led to believe that
Aspartame is safer and healthier than regular sugar, but that could not be further from the truth.
Aspartame accounts for 75% of adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA. The most
commonly reported are headaches and migraines; however, many reactions are a lot more serious
including seizures as well as death. Chronic exposure to this sweetener can bring about or worsen
serious conditions such as: asthma, lymphomas and leukaemia, brain tumors and brain cancer, irritable
bowel syndrome (IBS), Parkinson s, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.(Lindseth, Neurobehavioral
Effects of Aspartame Consumption ) The excitotoxins found in Aspartame have been found to
promote cancer growth. An experiment conducted by the Brigham and Women s Hospital of Harvard
University studied a 22 year long human experiment relating to the effects of Aspartame. They found
a correlation between Aspartame consumption and an increased risk of blood cancer; however, when
they released their studies, big corporations pressured them into downplaying their findings and their
results turned into Aspartame is safe.(Martino, The Shocking Story of How Aspartame Became

The novel of Vaclav and Lena written by Halley Tanner exemplifies how it is inevitable for human
beings to experience twists and turns within a relationship. Two close friends, Vaclav and Lena reunite

wants to dedicate his time with Lena or his girlfriend Ryan: Lindsey saw you, she [Ryan] says. What?
Vaclav says. Lindsey saw you sitting with that girl. In Fort Greene park. What? he says. She saw you

In my eighth grade, there were tons of people who were in a relationship with each other, and that was
actually quite astonishing being that there were only 50 students in my grade. I soon came to realize
how many of these people genuinely seem to have little to no idea on how a relationship works. I can
not rightfully speak about how to be an ideal boyfriend or anything but I can have knowledge on the
things that people should not do. From my experience, there was a new girl in our grade and after a
month she dated this one guy. The teenage life is complicated yet questionable. The guy simply asked
the new girl to date her, as a joke, and the girl actually accepted it. Of course, this was absurd and I
was completely dubious of their relationship as the guy just didn t seem to have true feelings for the
girl and vice versa. The guy simply did it out of the pleasure of having a girlfriend and seeming part of
the teen culture of dating. Two weeks after dating, the couple decided to break up and it seemed
normal and both really had any regret about the breakup since both had

Sexual Assault Among Women In the United States Essay
Sexual Assault Among Women In the United States
Sexual Assault described in technical terms is defined as any sort of sexual activity between two or
more people in which one of the people involved is involved against his or her will. (3) The
description of against his or her will extends to varying degrees of aggression, ranging from indirect
pressure to a direct physical attack. According to the Crime Victim Research and Treatment Center 1.3
adult women are sexually assaulted in the United States every minute. (1) Of these assaults 84% of the

If a woman tries to repress her psychological response, does she develop a physical reaction? One type
of disorder that develops among many women who have experienced sexual assault is called Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. While the exact symptoms, and the length that PTSD lasts varies,
the disorder is found among many victims of sexual assault.
The symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder vary. They can include an increased level of anxiety,
which can result in difficulty sleeping, concentrating, and an exaggerated response to noise. PTSD can
affect a woman who has experienced sexual assault ability to remember past events, in particular
events associated with her assault. (2) PTSD can cause feelings of detachment and numbness, as well
as a desire to avoid anything that the victim might associate with her assault. While doctors have been
able to identify the symptoms in many victims of sexual assault the exact cause of the disorder is still
questioned. Is the disorder the body s response to trauma? If so what relationship exists between the
symptoms associated with PTSD as trauma? A strong correlation has been found between sufferers of
PTSD and poor health. (3) PTSD can lead to depression and sickness. PTSD if not treated can also
indirectly cause accidents that can affect a victim s health. These accidents can be the result high
levels of anxiety, of a lack of ability to focus, and a lack of ability to respond.

French American Dream Essay
Traveling has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Imagine strolling down a sidewalk being
surrounded by the twinkling lights of world famous monuments and chapels. Hearing an elegant, but
virgin language from inside the cafe serving cultural cuisine. As an American it is natural to feel so out
of place, but so comfortable with the surroundings in the stylish environment. Being 5000 miles from
home has never felt so native.
France to me has always been a country I would love to visit. French is the language of love and the
way the pronunciation of the simplest words rolls off the tongue is so fascinating. To able to study the
language at such an up front and personal point of view would be an honor and humble experience.
The delectable French food, however would be the best part in my opinion. One of my main points of
traveling around is to be able to indulge in the different meals one wouldn t normally find or prepare
in my kitchen. It is well known for the French chefs to care a lot about their food and prepare every
meal with delicacy and perfectionism. The country is known for its rich history in culinary arts and

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of My Writing Course
Throughout the course I have become aware of the numerous weaknesses and strengths that I possess.
And a major weakness that I observe in my skills which can be detrimental to my writing is that I lack
the ability to organize my essays properly. When I write essays I tend to do so without the aid of an
outline, however, after this course I was able to understand that an outline is important for me to use.
An outline allows me to pace myself while I write, so that I will be able to properly organize any
essays.
Despite this weakness there are strengths that I have discovered in my writing. The strength is that I

major areas that I struggle with. Additionally, before starting university I will buy handbooks that can

transition skills. I will improve this writing skill by reading essays with acceptable transitions and
comparing them to my own essays, distinguishing the errors I committed when using transitions.
When I write papers, the first step that I take is I decide on the topic that I will write about and then I
will research it. I will research using scholarly articles, information that I may already know,
numerous websites and books. Once I have gathered a sufficient amount of information, I will develop

Different Methods Used For The Diagnosis Of The Cancer
In the medical field, currently various methods are used for the diagnosis of the cancer. Mostly the
cancer specialist uses the gland structure for the diagnosis of the cancer patient. Hence the glandular
structure observation is very important for the cancer patient disease diagnosis. For the disease
diagnosis purpose we required the microscopic image of the gland. A single gland contains thousands
of tissues and cells in it, some of them may be overlapped to each other. In this paper we used the,
Saliency Map Method, for the segmentation of the input image given by the user. Then we have used
the Visual Signal To Noise Ratio (VSNR) Method, This method is used to detect the overlapped cells
and it also plays the important role to separate the overlapped cells. The VSNR method is also helps to
detect the various features of the gland like area, eccentricity and the orientation of each cells present
and detect the total area covered by cells in that image. from all above observations the pathologist
can easily predict the disease.

Classical Hollywood Narration And The Maltese Falcon
Classical Hollywood Narration and The Maltese Falcon
Being that of a Classic Hollywood film, John Huston s work The Maltese Falcon is an exemplar (and
subsequently a subverter) of classical hollywood narrative. A film noir where the character s
motivations are as fluid and complex as the genre is known to be. A film whose narrative in of itself
keeps the viewer guessing, and plot points are slowly pieced together by the viewer to discover the
greater story at hand. It s through these areas that The Maltese Falcon is a viewer s guide to classical
Hollywood narrative. In classic film noir fashion, The Maltese Falcon follows; unpredictable and
impeccable detective Sam Spade on the case to discover the mysterious falcon statue. Sam s overall
motivation in the story is simple; uncover the secrets of this case and find out who is behind the
murders of Archer and Thursby. While that is the story at hand, the plot of The Maltese Falcon has the
viewer believe that Spade wants the Falcon for himself, or at the very least wanting the profits from its
sale. From the elusive way Spade talks to Gutman and Cairo about the Falcon, the viewer is slowly
convinced of this idea. However it isn t until the climax where someone is able to be blamed for the
murders (Spades initial goal) that Spade flips his act and frames O Shaughnessy for the murders,
having fooled Gutman and Cairo with a fake falcon. Having mentioned O Shaughnessy, it s important
to point out that her character s

U.s. Department Of Homeland Security
On March 31, 2016, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) started a nationwide campaign to warn against the dangers faced by the U.S.
utilities against the cyberattacks. According to DHS, there were an estimated 331 hacks or physical
attacks against the U.S. power grid from 2011 to 2014. As of February 2016, they are occurring at a
rate of once every 4 days. A major cyberattack on the U.S. electric grid could cause over $1 trillion in
economic damage, estimates ThreatTrackSecurity.com. (MacDonald, 2016, pg. 2). To detect a
cyberattack on the power grid, Western Interconnection should implement a system that will allow
public and private authorities to receive Indications and Warning (I W) when a cyberattack is in its
early phase. Koester and Cohen (2012) discuss their Electric Power Grid Indications Warning Tool in
their paper. The purpose of this tool is to provide near real time I W to alert private and public sector
authorities when the likely causes of outage events are malicious activity. (Koester Cohen, 2012, p. 1).
The tool minimizes false alarms due to severe weather and high temperatures. Implementing this
solution will allow administrators at the Western Interconnection power grid to take precautionary
measures as necessary. For example, the substations can be manually shutdown in case of a
cyberattack, to prevent potential damage and spread of malware. In addition to the aforementioned
tool, a

The right ventricle contracts forcing the pulmonary valve to open leading blood flow through the

vinyl electrodes (EL503), Cot, BIOPAC electrodes, Computer Sytem, BIOPAC Student Lab software
v3.0 or greater, and BIOPAC acquisition unit (MP30). When all these materials are available the
computer was turned on and three of the electrodes were placed on the body of my teammate. Two
electrodes were positioned on the medial surface of each leg just above the ankle, and the last
electrode was on the right anterior forearm at her wrist. When these were attached the subject was
asked to lie down on the cot and relax. We then attached her to the EKG machine with three colored
cables. The white cable was placed on the electrode on the right forearm, the black cable was placed
on right leg and the red cable was attached to the electrode on the left leg. Once the patient was
correctly hooked up to the EKG the BIOPAC Student Lab Program was started. Lesson five is the one
we used for this experiment and once it had been chosen we label it and started the experiment. There
were four conditions we needed to measure; the first being lying down. The subject was lying down

Convincing My Atheist Friend that Gods Exists
The central problem of this paper that I am going to try to convince my atheist friend is that god
existed. I will argue in favor of a higher being by first presenting and evaluating two argument that
will be used to persuade my atheist friend. First I will explain Pascal s argument. Second I will explain
one of the arguments of Aquinas s that is in favor of the existence of god. Then I am going to explain
what s the central difference between the two arguments is. I will conclude by stating whether I was
successful in converting my atheist friend.
Pascal doesn t understand that the atheist or the believer would be persuaded by his argument. Instead,
he handles the Wager to the curious and unconvinced. I have a choice to either believe in god exist or
believe that doesn t exists. First, if I believe in God, and God exist, then I will gain happiness; but if I
don t believe in God, and God doesn t exist ill pay the consequence. Second, if I don t believe in God
exist and God does exist, then I will gain pain; but if I believe God doesn t and God doesn t exist ill
pay the consequence. So, I have everything to earn, nothing to lose by believing in God, and I have
everything to lose and nothing to earn by not believing in God. Pascal s wager is at first intent for
believing, but not a proof. Yet, the wager assumes many conditions for the wager to fit a rational
theory.

History of Portraiture Essay example
History of Portraiture
Portraiture is a visual representation of an individual people, distinguished by references to the subject
s character, social position, wealth, or profession.
Portraitists often strive for exact visual likenesses. However, although the viewer s correct
identification of the sitter is of primary importance, exact replication is not always the goal. Artists
may intentionally alter the appearance of their subjects by embellishing or refining their images to
emphasize or minimize particular qualities (physical, psychological, or social) of the subject. Viewers
sometimes praise most highly those images that seem to look very little like the sitter because these
images are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Romans were expert in rendering individuals. Some scholars have argued that it was the practice
of making and keeping death masks of ancestors (worn by survivors in the funeral processions) that
accounts for the enormous skill with which Roman portraitists captured the individuality of their
subjects. Many portrait busts survive, including images of Roman rulers as well as poignant
representations of aged citizens. Especially noteworthy are the mummy portraits from the region of Al
Fayyūm in Egypt. Painted during the 2nd century ad, these portraits depict individuals who stare
wide eyed at the viewer. These slightly simplified representations of staring subjects anticipate the
severity and frontal orientation of early medieval portraits.
The Renaissance marked a turning point in the history of portraiture. Partly out of interest in the
natural world and partly out of interest in the classical cultures of ancient Greece and Rome,
portraits both painted and sculpted were given an important role in Renaissance society.
In the Netherlands, Jan van Eyck was a leading portraitist; The Arnolfini Marriage (1434, National
Gallery, London) is a detailed full length portrait of a couple. Leading German portrait artists include
Hans Holbein the Younger and Albrecht Dürer.

Collapse of Civilizations
The factors that lead to the collapse of civilizations are almost directly related to those that created it.
Archaeologists characterize collapse by a number of elements, some of which we have evidence for,
others we do not. Most archaeologists are unsure of exactly what caused the decline of most
civilizations in the ancient world, yet there are many clues to some of the events that could have
contributed. The collapse of the ancient Roman Empire, the Mesoamerican Mayan, and the Egyptian
cultures will be discussed in the following paragraphs, with a focus on the uniqueness of each.
Collapse is in quotations because its definition when applied to civilizations is often debated. Merriam
Webster s collegiate dictionary states: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They considered peasant revolt, loss of legitimacy of the rulers, lack of propaganda, abandonment of
great centers, ceasing of buildings and inscriptions, and population declination, done by a method the
Mayans are known for. Voting with one s feet is when commoners of a village, city, or town were not
happy with the king at the time so they left for other communities, no longer contributing their goods
to the community. The Mayans were a very ideological society. They had a very weak military, so they
were unable to force taxes on the people. They had to enforce ideology by building temples,
monuments and statues. When there was a king who was not liked, then they would not build temples
to support him. The ruler would have no symbols of power, which meant no authority. The city of
Copan had great monuments, which were rebuilt every twenty years. People were needed for the
labor, which was often stopped if they were displeased with the ruler. Therefore evidence for a sudden
halting of monument building gives clues to archeologists of the state of government, or society as a
whole. The Roman Empire was very powerful, diverse, and extravagant. Some Roman villas were
simple farmhouses while others were decorated with mosaics, large steam baths and luxurious gardens
(Scarre 1997:285). The city was filled with extreme architecture and monuments. Their advanced

Every American probably knows what it means to be politically correct.
After all, we hear about it on the news almost every night. We have to be constantly aware of whether
or not something we say or do is going to offend someone. This mode of communication is present in
every aspect of our lives, from the most formal to the most informal situations.

the communication pattern it refers to: who started it, who is doing it, and why. Is political correctness

It evolved into a term of disapproval among leftists for those whose line toeing fervor was too much to
bear. (Richer and Weir 53) Thus, the expression went from having a positive meaning to having a
negative meaning.
What we think of today as political correctness (PC) began in a recognizable form during the social
movements of the late 1960 s. PC was used as a self critique by social movements, each saw itself as
politically/ethically correct. PC referred to the culture or practices of the women s movement or gay
liberation or a Marxist party, but not to a common culture cross cutting these movements. There
existed a shifting line of conflict between movements, and groups could signify affinity or hostility
with another group by proclaiming these movements politically correct. (Richer and Weir 53) Paul
Berman, a well known essayist, has a very interesting view of the social movement culture of the 1960
s:
The left wing uprising of circa 1968 had two phases, which were in perfect discord. The first phase
was an uprising on behalf of the ideals of liberal humanism an uprising on behalf of the freedom of the
individual against a soulless system. The second phase was the opposite, at least philosophically. It
was a revolt against liberal humanism.

How Does Earthquake Affect The Mexico Earthquake
3.) The recent Mexico City earthquake that occurred on September 9th, 2017, was incredibly
destructive and devastating to the region. This natural disaster had such a significant impact because
of the plate tectonic plate setting, as well as the soil composition and high population density in this
city. One of the main factors that contributed to the dramatic impact of the earthquake was the plate
tectonics at that setting. The southwestern coast of Mexico is located along an ocean continental
convergent boundary, where the Cocoas Plate subducts under the North American Plate. As they
converge and the oceanic plate subducts under the continental plate, tension builds until they release
energy at the hypocenter. This causes seismic waves to radiate out through the crust, eventually
reaching the surface and causing and earthquake. In addition to the plate tectonic setting, the
geological composition of the region also was to blame for the vast destruction of the earthquake. The
land the city is built on is primarily sand and clay. This is a very soft, fertile soil composition. While

Essay On Red Hunting Hat In Catcher In The Rye
Sporting a plaid, red deer hunting hat, he would consistently pull the bill of the hat around to the back
due to he insisted he looked better. The flaps would always stay down to cover his ears and would
constantly be questioned why he was wearing a deer hunting hat when he was not hunting deer.
Holden Caulfield, main character of J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, regularly dons a red deer
hunting hat for the majority of the novel. The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel showing
how the main character spends his days between moving out of his private school and returning home
to his parents in New York in his hunting hat. Caulfield must manage the constant changing of
schools, underage drinking, and not following the crowd, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another standard Caulfield must abide by: the current drinking laws. Caulfield is an avid drinker at
clubs and bars, nevertheless, waiters constantly do not serve him due to his age. While in his hotel bar,
The Lavender Room, Caulfield attempts ordering a drink, I ordered a Scotch and soda, and told him
not mix I said it fast as hell, because if you ham and haw, they think you re under twenty one and won
t sell you any intoxicating liquor. I had trouble with him anyway... (90 91). Ordering a drink fast and
not look like anything is wrong is the approach Caulfield takes when soliciting a drink from the bar;
the waiter is no use though for he will not serve Caulfield without verification. A separate occasion of
Caulfield acquiring alcoholic refreshments is at Ernie s, a popular night club. At the same time of
being seated, Caulfield orders a drink, certain he will not be carded, I ordered a Scotch and soda,
which is my favorite drink, next to frozen Daiquiris. If you were only around six years old, you could
get liquor at Ernie s, the place was so dark and all, and besides, nobody cared how old you were (111).
When showing up to Ernie s, Caulfield knows he will receive alcohol as a result of the waiters do not
verify your age.

The Pros And Cons Of The Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are a very controversial band which was criticized because of the messages they were
said to send. As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black Metal Popular Music as Occult Mediation
and Practice , Black Sabbath had a certain flirtation with darker occult themes, apparent in the name of
the band itself as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name was one of the reasons why
they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was Earth and the choice of Black
Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band with that name in England. Another
controversy regards where the name came from. Some people argue that it derives from a movie
called Black Sabbath , and there was also a book written by Wheatle with this name. Their first album
did not refer to Satan at all, but the record label made it look like it did with the appearance of the
Satanist Anton LaVey. The British release of the album featured an upside down cross inside the cover.

The anger and the obscure tones seem to be part of it since it was born. However, in this modern
society the stereotypes that link heavy metal to Satanism should already have been overcome. Indeed,
it was more understandable back in the 1970s when it first appeared, while nowadays people should
be able to see that it is a type of music just like others. Listening to music is not the cause of massacres
such as the Columbine High School Massacre, which was certainly a terrible event and people should
reflect about it, but it should not be connected to music. The real reflections should regard social
contexts which may influence people, or the need that some people have to create turmoil just to feel

Within A Dynamic Economy, Like The United States, Jobs
Within a dynamic economy, like the United States, jobs are lost and created and workers are displaced
and reemployed continuously. There will always be technological advancements that are replacing
jobs. For example, automation in the manufacturing industry have replaced people in the workplace.
Automation performs much more efficiently than a person performs. In this paper I am going to
analyze the effects that automation has caused in the job market and how it will continue to affect
various industries. I am also going to compare automation job loss and outsourcing job loss. In my
own terms, automation is the creation and application of technology to monitor and control the

One multi tasker bot, from Momentum Machines, can make (and flip) a gourmet hamburger in 10
seconds and could soon replace an entire McDonalds crew. A manufacturing device from Universal
Robots doesn t just solder, paint, screw, glue, and grasp, it also builds new parts for itself on the fly
when they wear out or bust. And just recently Google won a patent to start building worker robots
with personalities. There is a predisposition that robots and automation can do one thing and one thing
only. There are currently machines that do many things that would take multiple people to do. In the
near future cars may be able to drive themselves and cooking may be completely automated. There is
no limit where automation could take us and depending on the perspective you take, its benefiting the
world. It is clear by my examples above that automation reduces the amount of labor required to
produce a good or service, it produces product more efficiently, and it promotes innovation in all
industries. Is automation worth the job loss that it creates? Can jobs be created due to an increase in
automation? The United States did indeed lose about 5.6 million manufacturing jobs between 2000
and 2010. But according to a study by the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State
University, 85 percent of these jobs losses are actually attributable to technological change, largely

However, their inferiority was further cemented when slaves eventually conformed to their white

they even began to consider slavery as an accepted practice. Many slaves developed a notion of
performing their forced labour more willingly and in turn their owners decreased the beatings and

Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, wealth is a common theme that has varying effects on
different characters and their attitudes. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with
money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens writing
shows that money does not always equal happiness.
Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a
result, he is satisfied with his conventional life. But, this all changes when he starts going to the Satis
house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. After seeing what Pip feels his
life should be, he becomes dissatisfied with his social class, even stating I wished Joe had been rather
more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. , Implying that he is also unhappy with
the upbringing of his family members. His preoccupation with wealth and status causes him to grow
distant from his family and friends, a decision that he later regrets. Pip reflects, It is a most miserable
thing to feel ashamed of home. There may be black ingratitude in the thing, and the punishment may
be retributive and well deserved, but that is a miserable thing, I can testify. He is ashamed of his home

Criminal Cases Should Be Treated As The Last Defense...
Criminal cases should be treated as the last defense against good and evil. When the media reports on
a case from the courtroom, everyone is on their best television behavior, no one wants to look bad on
TV, after all, that could affect their book tour. High profile cases have become a joke. It is so
important that people understand that our justice system is in jeopardy, cases cannot be resolved in the
media. People cannot continue to be found guilty or innocent by the press. The media chooses a side
and exploits their opinion. If the news media does not like the facts, they tend to add their twist to a
story. If a person is responsible for their actions in the media the media should be held to that standard
as well; it is their job to tell a story and present the truth. The justice system what set in place so that
people could all be seen as innocent until it is proven in a court of law that they are guilty or not. The
law makes enough mistakes; the addition of media judgment only serves to add confusion to an
already inundated criminal justice system.
The media is like a mirror to law enforcement; they can point out the flaws in law enforcement and the
justice system. However, since the news media stands behind the glass holding the mirror, they are not
able to see their flaws. There is a proper way to allow the media and the criminal justice system to
work together and build on each other s strength without paralyzing people s rights. There have been
so many problems

The Legend of Bagger Vance and Palmer both illustrate the aspect of whose am I? Palmer describes
the theme of whose am I as an idea of relationships and how our relationshops affect our vocation.
Palmer illustrates this when he says, For there is no selfhood outside relationship (Palmer). We cannot
become our true self without understanding our relationships. We need relationships to help us find

explains that death, like life, is a part of nature, which was a loved and cherished aspect of the

Bryant also mentions that we once were made as a part of nature and that people will die as a part of it

cannot be easily defined, but could be described by activity or behavior desired by an individual for

someone to express themselves in a passionate, energetic, imaginary way, whether the play is done in

membrane fusion (7). GP1 is involved in adhesion of the receptor with the host cell surface, whereas
GP2 is involved in the virus host cell membrane fusion and entry (13). In most cases GP1 is believed
to bind to different glycosaminoglycans
(GAG) from the host cell i.e. heparin sulfate, to be able to efficiently enter the host cell (2).
GAGs are negative, unbranched polysaccharides found in mostly all cells surfaces but differ in
composition between species (4). It is believed that GAGs are not the only possible way of attachment
for filoviruses to the host surface, meaning that there are other host factors that aid in viral entry (2).
After attachment, virions get into the host cell through micropinocytosis followed by endosome
trafficking which leads to membrane fusion (7). A low pH due to the endosomal events is what leads
to the initiation of membrane fusion (7).
G protein coupled receptors (GPCR) are the biggest and most diverse family of protein in

The Cost Of Revenue And Capital Expenditure
Revenue expenditure is defined as a cost that is charged to expense as soon as the cost is incurred. By
doing so, a business is using the matching principle to link the expense incurred to revenues generated
in the same accounting period. This yields the most accurate income statement results, (Revenue
Expenditure, n.d). On the other hand, capital expenditures are defined as the funds or assumption of a
liability in order to obtain physical assets that are to be used for productive purposes for at least one
year. This type of expenditure is made in order to expand the productive or competitive posture of a
business. A capital expenditure is recorded as an asset, rather than charging it immediately to expense.
The fixed asset is then charged to expense over the useful life of the asset, using depreciation (What is
a capital expenditure, n.d). The distinction between revenue and capital expenditures is important
because revenue expenditure is charged as soon as the cost is incurred, while capital expenditure is
depreciated over the life of the asset. If the asset s life is increased, the efficiency provided is
increased, or if output is increased, its service potential has increased, and the cost of expenditure
should be capitalized and written off over the expected period of benefit. All other expenditures made
subsequent to acquisition should be expensed as incurred, (Schroeder, Clark Cathey, 2014, p. 318).
Depreciation accounting is a system of accounting

Having good leadership of any project team is undoubtedly essential for the success of the team. This makes it easier for them to understand words spoken than between members of cross cultural teams where first languages and accents may differ. For example, I work with a multicultural team and I often find it difficult to understand my Turkish colleagues when they try to speak English. Many times I ask questions so that I can get the message they are trying to pass across. It however becomes frustrating sometimes because a lot of important information often gets lost in the discussion because I can t understand properly. This has caused delay in meeting business targets in the past. Cross cultural team members also face a challenge of having to understand that other team members possibly have a different idea of how to treat their bosses. Drawing from the example of my job team at work, I noticed that my American team members do not really run their ideas through our team leader before taking actions. However, my Turkish boss does not like this as he comes from a culture where everything a subordinate does should be run through the boss for approval. This had caused strains in the team s effectiveness in the past; until my American team members adapted to fit our team leader s wishes. As with my previous example, my American partners often make quick decisions without really examining the complete consequences of their decisions. Aspartame is an intense sweetener substituted for sugar in soft drinks and food. Aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol are the three basics chemicals that make up aspartame. What people may not know is that these 3 chemicals can be very harmful to our bodies and could even become deadly if not kept in proper conditions or if too much is consumed. With public advertising glorifying diet soda and artificial sweeteners, people are led to believe that Aspartame is safer and healthier than regular sugar, but that could not be further from the truth. Aspartame accounts for 75% of adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA. The most commonly reported are headaches and migraines; however, many reactions are a lot more serious including seizures as well as death. Chronic exposure to this sweetener can bring about or worsen serious conditions such as: asthma, lymphomas and leukaemia, brain tumors and brain cancer, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Parkinson s, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.(Lindseth, Neurobehavioral Effects of Aspartame Consumption ) The excitotoxins found in Aspartame have been found to promote cancer growth. An experiment conducted by the Brigham and Women s Hospital of Harvard University studied a 22 year long human experiment relating to the effects of Aspartame. I can not rightfully speak about how to be an ideal boyfriend or anything but I can have knowledge on the things that people should not do. From my experience, there was a new girl in our grade and after a month she dated this one guy. The teenage life is complicated yet questionable. The guy simply asked the new girl to date her, as a joke, and the girl actually accepted it. Imagine strolling down a sidewalk being surrounded by the twinkling lights of world famous monuments and chapels. Hearing an elegant, but virgin language from inside the cafe serving cultural cuisine. As an American it is natural to feel so out of place, but so comfortable with the surroundings in the stylish environment. Being 5000 miles from home has never felt so native. Mostly the cancer specialist uses the gland structure for the diagnosis of the cancer patient. Hence the glandular structure observation is very important for the cancer patient disease diagnosis. For the disease diagnosis purpose we required the microscopic image of the gland. A single gland contains thousands of tissues and cells in it, some of them may be overlapped to each other. In this paper we used the, Saliency Map Method, for the segmentation of the input image given by the user. Then we have used the Visual Signal To Noise Ratio (VSNR) Method, This method is used to detect the overlapped cells and it also plays the important role to separate the overlapped cells. The VSNR method is also helps to detect the various features of the gland like area, eccentricity and the orientation of each cells present and detect the total area covered by cells in that image. from all above observations the pathologist can easily predict the disease. • 10. Classical Hollywood Narration And The Maltese Falcon Classical Hollywood Narration and The Maltese Falcon Being that of a Classic Hollywood film, John Huston s work The Maltese Falcon is an exemplar (and subsequently a subverter) of classical hollywood narrative. A film noir where the character s motivations are as fluid and complex as the genre is known to be. A film whose narrative in of itself keeps the viewer guessing, and plot points are slowly pieced together by the viewer to discover the greater story at hand. It s through these areas that The Maltese Falcon is a viewer s guide to classical Hollywood narrative. In classic film noir fashion, The Maltese Falcon follows; unpredictable and impeccable detective Sam Spade on the case to discover the mysterious falcon statue. Sam s overall motivation in the story is simple; uncover the secrets of this case and find out who is behind the murders of Archer and Thursby. While that is the story at hand, the plot of The Maltese Falcon has the viewer believe that Spade wants the Falcon for himself, or at the very least wanting the profits from its sale. From the elusive way Spade talks to Gutman and Cairo about the Falcon, the viewer is slowly convinced of this idea. However it isn t until the climax where someone is able to be blamed for the murders (Spades initial goal) that Spade flips his act and frames O Shaughnessy for the murders, having fooled Gutman and Cairo with a fake falcon. Department Of Homeland Security On March 31, 2016, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) started a nationwide campaign to warn against the dangers faced by the U.S. utilities against the cyberattacks. According to DHS, there were an estimated 331 hacks or physical attacks against the U.S. power grid from 2011 to 2014. As of February 2016, they are occurring at a rate of once every 4 days. A major cyberattack on the U.S. electric grid could cause over $1 trillion in economic damage, estimates ThreatTrackSecurity.com. (MacDonald, 2016, pg. 2). To detect a cyberattack on the power grid, Western Interconnection should implement a system that will allow public and private authorities to receive Indications and Warning (I W) when a cyberattack is in its early phase. Koester and Cohen (2012) discuss their Electric Power Grid Indications Warning Tool in their paper. The purpose of this tool is to provide near real time I W to alert private and public sector authorities when the likely causes of outage events are malicious activity. (Koester Cohen, 2012, p. 1). The tool minimizes false alarms due to severe weather and high temperatures. Implementing this solution will allow administrators at the Western Interconnection power grid to take precautionary measures as necessary. For example, the substations can be manually shutdown in case of a cyberattack, to prevent potential damage and spread of malware. In addition to the aforementioned tool, a ... I will argue in favor of a higher being by first presenting and evaluating two argument that will be used to persuade my atheist friend. First I will explain Pascal s argument. Second I will explain one of the arguments of Aquinas s that is in favor of the existence of god. Then I am going to explain what s the central difference between the two arguments is. I will conclude by stating whether I was successful in converting my atheist friend. Pascal doesn t understand that the atheist or the believer would be persuaded by his argument. Instead, he handles the Wager to the curious and unconvinced. I have a choice to either believe in god exist or believe that doesn t exists. First, if I believe in God, and God exist, then I will gain happiness; but if I don t believe in God, and God doesn t exist ill pay the consequence. Second, if I don t believe in God exist and God does exist, then I will gain pain; but if I believe God doesn t and God doesn t exist ill pay the consequence. So, I have everything to earn, nothing to lose by believing in God, and I have everything to lose and nothing to earn by not believing in God. The Romans were expert in rendering individuals. Some scholars have argued that it was the practice of making and keeping death masks of ancestors (worn by survivors in the funeral processions) that accounts for the enormous skill with which Roman portraitists captured the individuality of their subjects. Many portrait busts survive, including images of Roman rulers as well as poignant representations of aged citizens. Especially noteworthy are the mummy portraits from the region of Al FayyÅ«m in Egypt. Painted during the 2nd century ad, these portraits depict individuals who stare wide eyed at the viewer. These slightly simplified representations of staring subjects anticipate the severity and frontal orientation of early medieval portraits. The Renaissance marked a turning point in the history of portraiture. Archaeologists characterize collapse by a number of elements, some of which we have evidence for, others we do not. Most archaeologists are unsure of exactly what caused the decline of most civilizations in the ancient world, yet there are many clues to some of the events that could have contributed. The collapse of the ancient Roman Empire, the Mesoamerican Mayan, and the Egyptian cultures will be discussed in the following paragraphs, with a focus on the uniqueness of each. Voting with one s feet is when commoners of a village, city, or town were not happy with the king at the time so they left for other communities, no longer contributing their goods to the community. The Mayans were a very ideological society. They had a very weak military, so they were unable to force taxes on the people. They had to enforce ideology by building temples, monuments and statues. When there was a king who was not liked, then they would not build temples to support him. The ruler would have no symbols of power, which meant no authority. The city of Copan had great monuments, which were rebuilt every twenty years. People were needed for the labor, which was often stopped if they were displeased with the ruler. Therefore evidence for a sudden halting of monument building gives clues to archeologists of the state of government, or society as a whole. • 20. How Does Earthquake Affect The Mexico Earthquake 3.) The recent Mexico City earthquake that occurred on September 9th, 2017, was incredibly destructive and devastating to the region. This natural disaster had such a significant impact because of the plate tectonic plate setting, as well as the soil composition and high population density in this city. One of the main factors that contributed to the dramatic impact of the earthquake was the plate tectonics at that setting. The southwestern coast of Mexico is located along an ocean continental convergent boundary, where the Cocoas Plate subducts under the North American Plate. As they converge and the oceanic plate subducts under the continental plate, tension builds until they release energy at the hypocenter. This causes seismic waves to radiate out through the crust, eventually reaching the surface and causing and earthquake. In addition to the plate tectonic setting, the geological composition of the region also was to blame for the vast destruction of the earthquake. The land the city is built on is primarily sand and clay. This is a very soft, fertile soil composition. While these characteristics are very beneficial for farming, they can be detrimental to the region during an earthquake. This soil is loosely compacted, which allows seismic waves to reverberate vibrations, worsening the impact. This causes the tall, multistoried buildings found in the city to sway back and forth, as the ground holding them is so unstable. Also, soil of this makeup causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Graholm claims in his article Ritual Black Metal Popular Music as Occult Mediation and Practice , Black Sabbath had a certain flirtation with darker occult themes, apparent in the name of the band itself as well as in image and lyrics (Granholm 13). Their name was one of the reasons why they were considered devilish. Nevertheless, their original name was Earth and the choice of Black Sabbath was only a compromise, because there was another band with that name in England. However, their inferiority was further cemented when slaves eventually conformed to their white owners. These failed resistances eventually led to hopelessness for the slaves as they even began to consider slavery as an accepted practice. Many slaves developed a notion of performing their forced labour more willingly and in turn their owners decreased the beatings and cruelty towards them ( Slavery in the United States. ) For instance, slaves who displayed respect towards their owners were assigned to perform less ... • 30. Theme Of Wealth In Great Expectations In Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, wealth is a common theme that has varying effects on different characters and their attitudes. Pip and Drummle are both people whose experiences with money shape who they are, and how they act. Throughout the first part of the novel, Dickens writing shows that money does not always equal happiness. Pip has had no experiences with the upper class by the beginning of Great Expectations, and as a result, he is satisfied with his conventional life. But, this all changes when he starts going to the Satis house and socializing with Ms. Havisham and her daughter, Estella. After seeing what Pip feels his life should be, he becomes dissatisfied with his social class, even stating I wished Joe had been rather more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. , Implying that he is also unhappy with the upbringing of his family members. His preoccupation with wealth and status causes him to grow distant from his family and friends, a decision that he later regrets. Pip reflects, It is a most miserable thing to feel ashamed of home. When the media reports on a case from the courtroom, everyone is on their best television behavior, no one wants to look bad on TV, after all, that could affect their book tour. High profile cases have become a joke. It is so important that people understand that our justice system is in jeopardy, cases cannot be resolved in the media. People cannot continue to be found guilty or innocent by the press. The media chooses a side and exploits their opinion. If the news media does not like the facts, they tend to add their twist to a story. If a person is responsible for their actions in the media the media should be held to that standard as well; it is their job to tell a story and present the truth. The justice system what set in place so that people could all be seen as innocent until it is proven in a court of law that they are guilty or not. The law makes enough mistakes; the addition of media judgment only serves to add confusion to an already inundated criminal justice system. The media is like a mirror to law enforcement; they can point out the flaws in law enforcement and the justice system. However, since the news media stands behind the glass holding the mirror, they are not able to see their flaws. The envelopes of EBOV and MARV are composed of glycoproteins (GP). GP are essential for the entry of the viruses into the host cell by attaching to its cell surface (10). GP is a homotrimer of GP1 (membrane protein) GP2 (transmembrane protein) heterodimer linked by disulfide bonds (11 12). The mechanism on how GP1 and GP2 drive the introduction of the virus into the host cell is not well understood yet (7). However, it is known that is characterized by three steps: attachment, uptake, and membrane fusion (7). GP1 is involved in adhesion of the receptor with the host cell surface, whereas GP2 is involved in the virus host cell membrane fusion and entry (13). In most cases GP1 is believed to bind to different glycosaminoglycans (GAG) from the host cell i.e. heparin sulfate, to be able to efficiently enter the host cell (2). GAGs are negative, unbranched polysaccharides found in mostly all cells surfaces but differ in composition between species (4). It is believed that GAGs are not the only possible way of attachment for filoviruses to the host surface, meaning that there are other host factors that aid in viral entry (2). After attachment, virions get into the host cell through micropinocytosis followed by endosome trafficking which leads to membrane fusion (7). A low pH due to the endosomal events is what leads to the initiation of membrane fusion (7). G protein coupled receptors (GPCR) are the biggest and most diverse family of protein in ... • 40. The Cost Of Revenue And Capital Expenditure Revenue expenditure is defined as a cost that is charged to expense as soon as the cost is incurred. By doing so, a business is using the matching principle to link the expense incurred to revenues generated in the same accounting period. This yields the most accurate income statement results, (Revenue Expenditure, n.d). On the other hand, capital expenditures are defined as the funds or assumption of a liability in order to obtain physical assets that are to be used for productive purposes for at least one year. This type of expenditure is made in order to expand the productive or competitive posture of a business. A capital expenditure is recorded as an asset, rather than charging it immediately to expense. The fixed asset is then charged to expense over the useful life of the asset, using depreciation (What is a capital expenditure, n.d). The distinction between revenue and capital expenditures is important because revenue expenditure is charged as soon as the cost is incurred, while capital expenditure is depreciated over the life of the asset. If the asset s life is increased, the efficiency provided is increased, or if output is increased, its service potential has increased, and the cost of expenditure should be capitalized and written off over the expected period of benefit. All other expenditures made subsequent to acquisition should be expensed as incurred, (Schroeder, Clark Cathey, 2014, p. 318). Depreciation accounting is a system of accounting ...
