Queen Isabella
Queen Isabella once said, I will assume the undertaking for my own crown of Castile, and am ready to
pawn my jewels to defray the expenses of it, if the funds in the treasury should be found inadequate.
She may be most famous for funding Christopher Columbus on his expedition to the New World, but
she was so much more than the provider of that trip. She had a complicated childhood and became a
great ruler. Isabella I of Castile, was born April 22, 1451, she was half Spanish and half Portuguese.
Isabella s mother was not cared about even though Isabella s father was of royal status. Since there
was already an heir to the throne, Isabella s half brother, Enrique, no one cared much about Isabella s
birth or baptism. Isabella s childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Alfonso s death Isabella was not sure if she would be able to rule Spain as a woman. Many
people doubted and even her herself doubted. Enrique and Alfonso were planning on arranging a
marriage for Isabella eventually, but Isabella had her interest somewhere else. Living as a woman,
Isabella wanted equality and equity for women. In the book it says, Issues that affected women were
always of particular interest to Isabella, and gender relations also colored the perceptions of people
living in Spain. All three great faiths Judaism, Christianity, and Islam honored women in certain ways
but were also patriarchal and made women second class citizens in other significant ways. (p 22)
When there was a possibility for Isabella to become queen she wanted to truly impact the way things
in her world ran. Enrique eventually accepted that Isabella as his heir and announced it to the
kingdom. Even though Isabella was often alone there was a time where Enrique sent her to another
town where Isabella was considered a stranger. In the book, Isabella the Warrior Queen it says, It is
just as likely that the marital alliance was Enrique s attempt to remove Isabella from the direct line of
succession in Castile and relocate her to a distant land. (p 47) Luckily, Gonzalo and his nephew were
around which helped her mood. Being surrounded by friends is always helpful after a tragedy, like a

My Lai Massacre Essay
My Lai Massacre
The Vietnam War was a conflict over several years in South East Asia which saw more than 3 million
civilians and soldiers killed. Public opinion within Australia about the Vietnam War moved through a
number of stages over the 10 year involvement however, the initial acceptance was largely that of
disinterest and there was little negative reaction to Australia s involvement. One of the most ruthless
incidents against civilians occurred in the war in Vietnam, when United States forces murder the
majority of population of the South Vietnamese village of My Lai in March 1968. When the
governments of the United States and Australia could no longer portray the Vietnam conflict as a
popular war amongst their citizen at home, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

increased as soldiers wondered what other such events were being concealed by their superiors. At
home the attempted concealment increased antiwar sentiment and further fuelled a bitter divide among

Ticks Research Papers
Ticks are very important and harmful blood sucking external parasites of mammals, birds and reptiles
throughout the woria (Furman and Loomis, 1984). The medical and economic importance of ticks had
long been recognized due to their ability to transmit diseases to humans and animals. Ticks belong to
phylum, Aarthropoda and make up the largest collection of creatures in order Acarina. They are
divided into two groups: soft ticks (Argasidae) and hard ticks (Ixodidae). Hard ticks feed for extended
periods of time on their hosts, varying from several days to weeks, depending on factors like life
stage, host type, and species of tick. The outside surface of hard ticks actually grows to accommodate
the large volume of blood ingested which in adult ticks, may be anywhere from 200 to 600 times their
unfed body weight (Sonenshine, 1991). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Olympic Stadium Controversy
Introduction
This controversy revolves around the stadium meant to be the host for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Games. With the preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, one of the preparations was to
build a new stadium to host the games and in 2012, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) won the stadium
commission through an international competition (Dezeen, 2015a). Soon after ZHA bid won, they
started work on the site and after two years, and after Japan had won the bid to host the 2020
Olympics, the controversy began with the main argument against the project being that the
architectural design was over budgeted and that it could not be financially sustainable. As a result,
ZHA had to revise their design in 2014 with a new design that addressed the previously voiced
criticism. However, with criticism still raging on, Japan Sports Council (JSC) canceled the firm s
plans in July 2015, after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe weighed into the issue by announcing
that the design plans will be scrapped as a result of spiraling costs and that the project would be started
from scratch. This issue ended up being referred to as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic stadium controversy
and one of the major architectural controversies of 2015 (Dezeen magazine, 2015b). This paper, ...

Artwork is Not Art Because of Theory
Whether it be writers, painters, sculptors, musicians, or photographers, artists all over the world have
striven to show people their views of the world, of people, and even of the universe itself. Throughout
history the creative urge of man to present to fellow men a different perspective or representation of
life or even the afterlife has surfaced time and time again in the form of artwork. Sometimes it comes
through genius and complexity, full of meaning and symbolism. Others, it is simple and void of any
clear meaning at all other than that it is art. Soon, however, there became a point when the work of art
was no longer something one could just look at and understand; the principle of the matter had ...

Essentially, Modern Art allowed the quot;culturati quot; to move even further apart from the rest of
society they could be even more unique than before because they actually liked this stuff that was
strange and pointless to try to understand if you didn t know the theories it was being painted behind.
As Wolfe explains, however, it isn t just the quot;culturati quot; that cause this great influence on art
theory. Art critics all over the United States want, as always, to fit in with the chic of the chic and to be
able to control what fashions are the craze. It is, after all, their critiques which usually control the flow
of the fashion. Modern Art s foremost critical influences in the United States, as Wolfe presents in The
Painted Word, are Greenberg, Rosenberg, and later, Steinberg.
Greenberg believed that art was heading into a final destination of quot;purity quot;, and that the final
destination of all that is truly art is what he called quot;Flatness quot; (Wolfe 49). Essentially what this
meant was that because the painting is indeed a flat surface made to appear like a three dimensional
plane by the painter, most painting was illusion. They began to conclude that the two dimensionality
of the canvas plane was what was important, not the illusion they could create on it. Greenberg
seemed intense on the point of flatness as Wolfe puts it, it became quot;an obsession,

Substance Abuse And Addictive Behaviors
School Counselors support all students so that they can succeed in the school setting, including those
that have addictions or addictive behaviors. This is a challenging area, and school counselors must be
able to understand causes and recognize signs of addictions, and provide services to support the needs
of these students. Therefore, this paper discusses and evaluates the causes of addictions and addictive
behaviors, analyzes possible sings of substance abuse and addiction in students, and designs and
evaluates prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies for students with commonly found
addictions. Further, this paper presents a hypothetical case study and applies effective counseling
skills and strategies for helping a student with a substance use issue.
Etiology of Addictions and Addictive Behaviors There are many causes of addiction and addictive
behaviors. The causes can stem from, but are not limited to, physiological, historical, social, and
environmental factors that come together to cause addiction and addictive behaviors (The Highjacked
Brain, 1998). It is important to point out that addictions and addictive behaviors are not caused by
only one factor, but rather a combination of them. Physiological factors occur and affect the brain,
thus, addictions and addictive behaviors can be considered a disease because of the changes that occur
to the brain (The Highjacked Brain, 1998). Considering this more, substance abuse and addictive

Descriptive Essay About The Maze
The Maize Maze
Diego Villada Youel
As I crawled in the back of my dad s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a
hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the
butterflies that we re trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we re now trying to burst out like
fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had
about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the
maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their
place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts.
One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the
thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come
out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and
sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took
pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the
line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. I

Mgmt 530 Conference Decision Week 1 Case Analysis
MGMT530 Conference Decision
Week 1 Case Analysis Template
1) Define the decision problem?
As indicated by the scenario it seems that the decision problem is a matter if the accounting systems
annual conference that is previously scheduled to occur on September 13 16,2005 should be canceled,
due to the fact Hurricane Katrina has occurred and demolished building and homes leaving them in
ruin in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. The primary issue thus becomes does the board or

This conference seems to be the pinnacle point for participants to a) network/connect with current
customers in addition to establishing new ones b) the distribution of new product concepts/designs
that are promising for the future of that industry. If the final solution to this problem into being to
move the conference to another date, there is a possibility that managers will have difficulties
scheduling the speakers that were originally lined up. In addition to another time for participants to
reschedule flights at economical rate and be with to use there are paid money towards another hotel
location.
6) Describe the dependencies on other decisions?
The decision to hold the conference depends on certain other decisions. The management has worked
with the Local Convention amp; Visitor s Bureau and the hotel for the conference and wants to help
them recover the destruction. The management may want to hold the conference in the same city at
some future date in order to provide an opportunity to overcome the destruction by holding the
conference. The decision will also be influenced by the cost of holding the conference and the
willingness of the attendees to attend the conference if the management plans to hold the conference
in a different city. The decision with respect to date will also affect the holding of the conference in
the same city or a different city. The management may plan the

The Importance Of Deep Ecology
Deep ecology is about always asking questions about human life, nature, and society.
Deep ecology is more meditative and goes beyond the factual scientific level, to the level of self and
Earth wisdom. It goes beyond a shallow approach to environmental problems. It articulates a
comprehensive religious and philosophical worldview, along with ecological consciousness.
Ecological consciousness and deep ecology contrast the technocratic industrial societies that isolate
humans from nature.
Over time Western culture has been obsessed with dominance. Humans over non humans, masculinity
over femininity, wealthy over poor, western over non western cultures. Deep ecological consciousness
allows us to see through the perception of this dangerous illusion. A dominant world view is centered
around maximizing and using natural resources for our destructive consumerist habits. Deep ecology
is about minimizing and finding harmony with nature.
Deep ecology means reflecting on ourselves. The search for deep ecological consciousness is the
search for an objective consciousness and state of active deep questioning and meditative process as a
way of life.
Arne Naess said that deep ecology is The shallow and the deep, long range ecology movement
This quote describes the deeper, spiritual approach to nature. This deeper approach allows us to be
more open and sensitive to ourselves and nonhuman life.
Arne Naess developed two ultimate norms which were brought by deep questioning and reveal

how moving around an excessive amount, and absentee of parents, affect how children develop. Jobs
that typically require moving are military, doctors without borders, missionaries, aid workers,

Another milestone in adolescents is finding their identity. According to Erik Erikson, he says that there
are eight total stages humans go through, each one corresponding with a particular time/age in a
human s life, and each having a psychological crisis. During the time of adolescents, it is a search for
their identity or end up in a state of role confusion. Furthered by Kail and Cavanaugh (2016), to
develop identity, it is facilitated through parental discussion and encouragement. Through this
discussion and encouragement, the child will have a better grasp of who they are, thus being able to
make tough decisions and able to handle a variety of situations, that they know will be the best route
for them. Their identity development also affects their career and interpersonal relationship
development.
Since Fern s parents are more focused on their work, rather than their children, she is once again,
unable to communicate with them about her sense of self, or about things in general. Fern is not
encouraged nor encouraged to explore her different self s. Fern would thus be unable to determine if
the sense of self she currently has been exploring, is the right one for her. She would also likely, have

German Us Boat Characteristics
German U Boats
U boats is an abbreviation for unterseeboat, which is German for submarine. U boats were heavily
used in both world wars by the Germans to devastating effect, sinking numerous merchant and naval
allied ships during the world wars. This effect was limited when the enigma code was cracked by the
allies and the U boats could be easily tracked.
Figure 1. The schematics for a German type VII C U boat, the most heavily used U boat by the
Germans during World War II.
There were many different types of U boats, each with different specifications. Later in the war U
boats were made for specific purposes, for example the Type VIID was designed for minelaying and
the Type VIIF was made for storing and using torpedoes. The type VIIF has the capacity to hold 41
torpedoes, over double the capacity of any other U boat. 1
The most common U boat used in World War Two was the Type VIIC, with 577 built, 489 more than
the second most build U boat, the Type VIIC 41. The Type VIIC 41 was very similar to the original

The main staging ground for the U boats was in the Atlantic Ocean between America and Great
Britain from the beginning of World War Two until May 1943. The battle in the Atlantic started when
a U 30 sunk an American passenger liner called Athenia. Hitler had planned for the U boats to fight in
the Atlantic anyway but wasn t prepared for the U boats to start so early in the war. He planned for
250 U boats to fight but only had 57, and only 27 that were able to travel away from the coast. U boats
were a terrifying force for the allies as they had no way to properly defend them early in the war. U
boats mainly sunk American allied merchant conveys during World War Two which stopped supplies
reaching the British allied forces. The main weaponry the U Boats used to sink the merchant conveys
were torpedoes.

Cake Decorating Book Review
Carpenter Autumn. The Complete Photo Guide to Cake Decorating. Minneapolis, MN: Creative Pub.
International, 2012. Print.
In this book of 330 pages it describes how to decorate cake cookies .She shows all the material that
will be need for decorating a cake. The brushes should be used only for cake decorating. Brusher #2
(skinny) is only to paint details onto the cake, there are too many brushes that you can use. The cake
slicers are used to divide a cake layer for torting (torting means splitting or cutting the layers of your
cake). Cutters are available to create accents for cakes; cutters cut gum paste and make it into 3D
accents. Spatula is a thin spatula about 10 or 12 diameters, the spatula used to easily lift the cake. Use
a large rolling pin to roll fondant, silicon pin works good for pastry and cookie.
This book is easy to understand because it shows pictures of the tools and explains what the tools are
for. What she says was interesting because she says that you need to have one brush for every part of
the cake.

Coraline Neil Gaiman Character Analysis
Coraline is a novel exploring the experiences of a young girl who struggles with being ignored and
feeling different. The themes of the novel, such as knowing your place in the world, are
communicated by Coraline s responses to conflict and development. Readers are positioned to respond
positively to Coraline by the use of characterisation, interior monologue and setting.
Knowing your place in the world is an extremely important issue for young children that Neil Gaiman
explores in depth throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, Coraline is ignored and feels like
a young child. Coraline believes her name is a main part of her identity and therefore tries to make

Gaiman is able to make the reader think about how important a child s place in the world is by using
interior monologue and setting. Interior monologue helps the reader understand how Coraline feels
and shows the reader how she has matured throughout the book. Coraline s interior monologue
becomes more mature and sophisticated the further along the story the reader goes. This helps the
reader realise that identity and self worth are important within a child s life and can change the type of
person they are. Setting helps the reader realise the innocence of a child s mind and why self esteem is
so important. The Other World can be argued as a fragment of Coraline s imagination, something she
created within her hours of boredom. This theory highlights to the reader that a child s imagination is
important but can also be deadly. When a child has low self esteem, such as Coraline, their rejection
can result in horrible day dreams and detachment from the real world. Neil Gaiman has woven
messages within messages and has been able to highlight an extensive range of issues within one
novel. In conclusion, by using interior monologue and setting, Neil Gaiman is able to communicate
messages, such as a child s place in the world, to the

Ikebana is also named Kado or The way of flowers . According to Charlotte Anderson (2013, P.74),
Ikebana was evolved from Buddhist practice, as the flower offering to Buddha (Kuge). It was affected
by the yorishiro of Shinto. And the details of flower offering had been recorded in Kojiki. Kojiki

Australian Lifestyles And Living Conditions
Australian s lifestyles and living conditions can largely be effect by the levels of unemployment and
employment. A labour market is a place in which employees and workers interact with each other, in
this situation the employers will seek to hire the best workers, who aim to complete a job to the
standards set by those employing them. Labour markets can be developed by three basic conditions,
these are, stronger market conditions, weaker market conditions and ideal market conditions. If there
is increased demand for labour by firms and large business, the market conditions will getting
stronger. This can be seen through unemployment rates, of which is Australia is currently around 5.7
percent and gradually decreasing. This relatively low figure displays the need for workers with an
expanding number of job opportunities along with a decrease in monthly hours worked. With more
people bring in a steady income the living conditions of these workers will increase, however one
could argue that this will also put those who are struggling to find work further behind. In future, it is
predicted that employment will continue to increase by almost 8,000 to 11,939,600 workers along
with the small increase in unemployment due to retirements. This will lead to improved living
conditions for the majority of Australians. The number of workers for businesses will increase
allowing them to expand the operations to cover a larger area. Participation rates is a measure of the

many countries stand by the idea that the death penalty is a type of cruel and unusual punishment.
Some of these countries argue that the death penalty is an act against God, in a religious view on the

Occupational Safety And Health Administration Essay
INTRODUCTION
Accidents are unfortunately inevitable in an industry as dangerous as the construction industry. It is
not unknown that all around construction is the occupational field that produces the most accidents
and fatalities per year, which can definitely be intimidating for anyone desiring a career in this
environment. Furthermore, the sad truth is that accidents will never cease to occur regardless of all of
the strict rules and safety procedures implemented by supervisors and safety organizations such as
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), for there are situations where there are
unwilling workers who choose not to cooperate with set safety rules. Construction individuals are
solely responsible for their own health and safety; as a result, workers put themselves at risk by not
following safety implanted rules, which undoubtedly adds to the ever growing list of injuries/fatalities
per year in construction.
However, even though accidents and fatalities will never stop in this industry, the reduction of
incidents is definitely a mutual aim for everyone involved in this profession. For example, OSHA
requires companies to commands their respective workers to utilize Personal Protective Equipment,
also referred to as PPE. PPE aims to lower the physical risk of workers when dealing directly with the
likes of toxic substances, tools, and machinery in addition to be around unstable objects and

Ross responds to him,
What sights, my lord (III.iii.118).
The Insanity of Macbeth is shown in these quotes. Shakespeare s description of Macbeth s thoughts
visibly reveals the theme of madness.
Shakespeare portrays madness among many of his characters, and he returns to the theme again and
again. Indirect characterization in the form of Lear s mad speeches allows Shakespeare to convey the
theme of madness. For example one of Lear s first speeches after things started to go bad for him,
Poor naked wretches, wheresoe er you are, That bide the pelting of this pitiless storm, How shall your
house hold heads and unfed sides, Your loop d and window d rag gedness, defend you... (III.iv.35 38).
Lear s insanity increases throughout the play, demonstrated to the audience through more speeches,
until his emotions overthrow his reason at the climax of the play. Lear randomly shouts in to the
storm,
Rumble thy bellyfull! Spit, fire! Spout, rain! Nor rain, wind, thunder, fire are my daughters. I tax not

In addition, these receptors are composed of two glycoproteins that are embedded in the viral

Human Freedom, Consciousness, And Reality

Jealousy, Love, And Death
Shakespeare is known for his use of recurring themes, particularly those of betrayal, love, and death.
These themes are present in Othello. However, the most dynamic of themes in this play is jealousy.
White describes jealousy as a complex of thoughts, feelings, and actions which follow threats to self
esteem and/or threats to the existence or quality of a relationship (qtd in UK essays par 1). Two types
of jealousy are presented to the audience in Othello; the kind of jealousy that is fear of losing what one
has, and the kind that is envious of what others have. Jealousy is a prevalent theme in Othello; it is
rooted by love and hope, and it leads to betrayal and death. Because of the evil nature of jealousy, the
play unfolds under the authority of Iago, who uses jealousy to drive the characters actions, and
ultimately concludes in the downfall of a noble man (UK Essays par 1). The audience is presented
with examples of both forms of jealousy as themes in Othello. The two themes of jealousy differ, but
are also quite similar. The envious jealousy is portrayed by two of the main characters, Roderigo and
Iago. Both men are willing to do anything it takes to get what they want. In the beginning of the play,
Roderigo, a rich gentleman, and Iago, the villain, are introduced to the audience. Iago is envious of
Cassio, who was chosen by Othello to be his lieutenant. Roderigo is jealous of Othello marrying
Desdemona, with whom Roderigo is in love. Iago s jealousy leads him to

that I am close with even judged a ¨The Flash¨ episode he wrote called Killer Frost. He only knew
Kevin Smith from the fantastically made documentary The Death of Superman Lives, and Clerks,
where he curses at nauseum and is really being a very explicit person. Since Kevin Smith s nature is
like this he made a false preconception that the Flash episode would represent himself since writing
typically reflects one s true nature, and in turn skipped that episode from his judgement of that person.
This turned out to be the highest rated ¨The Flash¨ episode ever made and comic fans responded

Outline Cover your trash at work
Introductory Paragraph
If you have a visible tattoo or an unusual piercings, you become a walking stereotype, begging
strangers to judge you (Lewis). On the other hand do you think having tattoos or piercings uncovered
walking around the workplace, while people are judging you, is that okay for you?
Even though Tattoos and Piercings are methods of self expression and are unique, your creativity on

The key to succeeding is getting a feel for the culture of a workplace. When it comes to the issue of
whether ink will affect your livelihood, Haberfeld says it really depends on where you hope to get
work.
Depending where you work the creativity is showing where you can and can t work.
Conclusion
So it is clear that although Tattoos and Piercings are methods of self expression and are unique, your
creativity on your skin should be covered at all times while you re at work for two main reasons. First,
some tattoos are gang related and doesn t look good for a workplace. But most importantly,
somethings on your body make you look trashy and unprofessional.
While in some cases, the opinion you get is the one you seek, it is overwhelmingly negative in most
business environments. Despite the opinions of pop psychologists and business consulting gurus,
rebels and freethinkers do not fare well in most business environments. A business owner or a
company manager wants to work with people who can take directions and follow rules, who fit in and
don t make waves. Body art, however, screams, I am different!
So what, do you think your artwork on your skin will be the show of the day at your

Essay on The Harlem Renaissance and Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes was one of the most important writers and thinkers of the
Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s, which was the first major movement of African
American life and culture. Hughes was influenced by living in New York City s Harlem, where his
literary works helped shape American literature and politics. Hughes strong sense of racial pride
helped him promote equality, celebrate African
American culture, and condemn racism through his poetry, novels, plays, essays, and children s books
(America s Library). Hughes is referred to as a literary phenomenon. He was one of the first African
American men of literature who was determined to make a productive and profitable career out of his

One of his teachers introduced him to Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman s poetry, who stood out as
Hughes primary influences. Hughes graduated from high school in 1920 and spent the following year
in Mexico with his father. Around this time, Hughes s poem
The Negro Speaks of Rivers was published in The Crisis magazine and was highly praised (The
Biography Channel). In 1921, Hughes enrolled at Columbia University where he studied briefly, and
during this time he quickly became a part of the Harlem Renaissance. Four years later, he was
working as a busboy in a Washington, D.C. hotel restaurant when he met an
American poet Vachel Lindsay. Hughes showed some of his poems to Lindsay, who used his
connections to promote Hughes s poetry and bring it towards a wider audience.
Hughes s poem, The Weary Blues won first prize in the Opportunity magazine literary competition.
While studying at Lincoln, Hughes poetry came to the attention of novelist and critic Carl Van
Vechten, who used his connections to help get Hughes s first book of poetry, The Weary Blues ,
published by Knopf in 1926. Hughes was also among the first to use jazz rhythms and dialect to depict

The United States Public Education System Essay
Most Americans believe that the United States public education system is largely based on the
principles of work ethic and equal opportunity. We are taught that a strong work ethic is important in
achieving good grades, and that these grades are crucial to attending elite universities and earning
scholarships. The aforementioned features are key components of the dominant American ideology; a
way of seeing that feels natural and inevitable. Although major institutions such as schools legitimize
a societal reward system based on merit and hard work, also known as a meritocracy, the U.S. public
education system evidently contains tremendous inequality, much of which is maintained and
produced through the institution itself. Furthermore, structural factors such as cumulative advantage,
which explains how those who are successful gain additional success, offer an explanation for the
inequalities in the school system that manifest unexpectedly and cannot be solved by money. Through
the legitimation of the dominant American ideology and the process of cumulative advantage, the U.S.
public education system perpetuates social inequality within the classroom and provides additional
power to those already born with better life chances. In social theory, there exists a long standing
debate over whether structure or agency is central in shaping human behavior. While structure is the
underlying set of rules for how a society works, agency is the ability of the individual to exert choice

  • 2. Queen Isabella Queen Isabella once said, I will assume the undertaking for my own crown of Castile, and am ready to pawn my jewels to defray the expenses of it, if the funds in the treasury should be found inadequate. The audience is presented with examples of both forms of jealousy as themes in Othello. The two themes of jealousy differ, but are also quite similar. The envious jealousy is portrayed by two of the main characters, Roderigo and Iago. Both men are willing to do anything it takes to get what they want. In the beginning of the play, Roderigo, a rich gentleman, and Iago, the villain, are introduced to the audience. Iago is envious of Cassio, who was chosen by Othello to be his lieutenant.
