Tony Brown Observation
I observed a two year old male child; I will be referring to him as Tony Brown. The project I think
went pretty well. The observation took place at his home while his mother was present. Tony Brown is
a Hispanic male; he is a cute little kid. My topic is how Tony Brown uses language to interact with his
environment and I observed how he did. I observed him at his home, the second floor of an apartment
complex. I was in the living room while he roamed freely, while I watched how he interacted with his
environment and how he used language to get his mother s attention. Present at the time was Tony
Brown, his mother and I. There were no other children so he would interact with his toys or other
objects that were around him. Tony Brown like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has an understanding of how to put sentences together because he tries to, but the words do not
fully make sense to other people. Tony Brown does things like any other two year old at his age he
plays with toys, loves his mother, and gets distracted easily. For example, when it was time for the
activity he had unfortunately became distracted. The activity I chose to do was to see if he could
identify a set of flashcards that had colors and shapes on them. I wanted to see if the child could say
both what the color was and also say the shape that was associated with the color. I was trying to test
not only his language abilities, but his ability to differentiate between the color and the shape. When I
tried to administer the activity he kind of just looked at me and continued to play with his toys or
something else. I finally got him to actually engage in the activity afterwards, which was great, but he
still wasn t fully engaged with it. Tony Brown knew most of the colors and spoke them, but not
completely clear. After a while I could eventually make out the word he was trying to say. He also
knew the shapes, but when he saw a circle he said ball , or he just said the corresponding color instead
of the shape. The thing that I saw was that he could distinguish the color purple very well and he said
it very clearly and I thought that was interesting because it was his mother s favorite color. In
conclusion, Tony Brown is a smart kid who is

Evolution Of War Research Paper
Humanity has resorted to war as a fundamental way to settle their differences. Clausewitz describes
war as the act of force to compel the enemy to do our will. Sun Tzu believed that war was to subdue
the enemy without fighting. However it is defined, every culture has its motives for why they go to
war and how it should be conducted. Nation states go to war to gain access to new territories and
resources, settle religious differences, defend against a threat, and for no other reason than to impose
their will on the enemy. To deter war nation states have used diplomatic means to settle their
differences but when that fails, war follows.
When war is declared, the victory goes to the force who can inflict the most casualties at the decisive

The Union and the Confederates had differing economies at the onset of the war. The North was very
industrialized in comparison to the agricultural South. Both sides developed a variety of methods to
fund their respective military efforts ranging from taxation, selling government bonds, loans, and
printing new currency. However, countries like Britain used their wealth and an established economy
to become the colonial power of the age that no other country could match. This was due to their naval
power which they could sustain from, raising funds through long term credit at low interest rates. In
the west economics determined who could adopt the western way of war and who could not base on
the state s ability to keep abreast of changing technology and maintain the resources to deploy it
effectively.
In closing, it was evident that the west had a dramatic influence on the world and as it still does today.
It s important to note that possessing all the elements of the Western way of war does not guarantee
success, it is the application of all the elements along with experience, the government and the will of
the people. Army professionals today must understand that the ability of the United States Army
ability to win decisively embraces these three fundamental characteristics of the Western way of war
to sustain dominance across the full range of military

Killing Rommel Book Report
Killing Rommel Killing Rommel by Steven Pressfield tells the story about an elite British commando
unit, the Long Range Desert Group, and their mission to roam the North African desert. The mission
was to stop Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and his Afrika Corps during World War II. Rommel, also
known as the Desert Fox , was a German army general that Hitler could rely on for almost any
mission given his exceptional tactics on the battlefield. Pressfield presents the story as a first person
account memoir of a fictional citizen soldier who goes by Lieutenant Lawrence Chapman, a British
Eighth Army officer. Chapman is later selected to be a part of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG)
in 1942. Pressfield states how he did his best not to alter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One fact that stood out to me was early on in the book when he described the heat situation inside of
an army tank and said, For every degree Fahrenheit rise outside, interior temperature rose a degree and
a half. Seventy out was 100 in... (16). This is astonishing to me that the troops were in the desert with
100 degree weather and roasting in their tanks at 130 degrees. The novel flows nicely, beginning with
how Chapman describing his journey to the LRDG. It unravels the mission, he and his comrades were
ordered to do in the heat of World War II. There is no doubt that Pressfield wanted to keep the story in
first person to account for the events in Chap s memoir. He states in the prologue that it was in his best
interest to keep as much as he could directly as Chap wrote while making it as easy to read as
possible. This book is a work of fiction, but it incorporates many facts and real people. I think he did a
fantastic job. There is a few confusing spots throughout the book when it gets into the technical stuff.
One example is trying to keep track of all the different army divisions. There was never a time I was

Analyzing The Past Performance Of Three Global Equity...
Portfolio Management Module Conveyor: Dr Andreas Hoepner Project Submitted by: Harsh Shah
(23873670) 1. Executive Summary 1.1. Research Purpose: When an investor considers to investment
money, the first challenge that almost every investor face is numerous options to choose from stocks,
bonds, mutual funds so on. Equity is one the key asset class which beats inflation in the long run. (The
Times of India, 5th Feb 2015). Equity mutual funds help investors generate better inflation adjusted
returns, without spending a lot of time and energy on it. While most people consider letting their
savings grow in a bank, they don t consider that inflation may be nibbling away its value. (The Hindu,
14th March 2016). Purpose of this study is to analyze the past performance of three global equity
mutual funds of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) Northern Trust (NT) on the basis of equivalent
investment style, asset manager, historical returns application of statistical tools. This will help in
understanding performance of mutual funds in terms of risk return, asset manager s investment

How Did Andy Warhol Influence Pop Art
Andy Warhol paper / Period 6 Andy Warhol was definitely an intriguing and controversial character.
He paved the way for an entirely new art style, pop art; he even went on to take the title of the Pope of
Pop . There were many reasons why people were drawn to him and the controversy that surrounded
him. Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an artist he would go
on to become a prominent figure in pop culture. He created strange movies of people sleeping or
eating and while his pop art was slightly less weird they still strayed along the lines of different. The
pop art movement occurred around the late 1950s in the United States. This new style of art
emphasized popular imagery which was made identifiable

Living Inside The Large City
Geneva
This is my home in Geneva. My family lives in a manor near a lake, and about a league outside of the
large city, because we don t like living inside the large bustling city, which currently has a population
of around 37000. [1] I am about to leave home to continue my education. I am going to miss my
family and friends here, but I need to pursue my dreams, and I could always visit home if I miss it.
Pursuing science and philosophy has been a dream of mine since I was a small child, and saw a tree
struck by lightning. [ch. 2] I can finally satisfy this lust more so than I had by reading every one of
those old books about the wonders of philosophy and alchemy.

[3] To put it in my own words, Mont Blanc, the supreme and magnificent Mont Blanc, raised itself
from the surrounding aiguilles, and its tremendous dome overlooked the valley. [ch. 9] I had thought I
saw the monster, but the monster had seen me as well. He confronted me in the valley and told me his
life story of everything he could remember from after his creation. I can t help but feel sorry for this
creature that I had brought into life so miserable.
I am in England now, which is just a resting point on my journey. I am with my friend best friend,
Henry Clerval. I have decided to make a wife for the monster, and need to find a place to do so. But I
shall remain in London for a few months. It is nice to visit these places that I have heard of even in
Geneva, such as Greenwich, which has recently been established as the prime meridian for all maps.
[4] I wish I could be happy, at least for Henry s sake, but every time I come close to being happy, I
think of poor William and Justine, the deaths of whom I feel responsible for, and I cannot feel happy
knowing what I had done. [ch. 19]
At the advice of someone who once stayed in my family s house in Geneva, I have decided to go to
Scotland, where I will set up my lab and finish my goal, specifically in the Orkneys Islands, which are
small, fertile, remote islands. [5] I have picked a small island that is just a small rock with water

EL R And BMI Case Study
Regardless of the reason why these biological factors impact treatment outcomes, the ability of both
the EL.R and BMI to predict percentage negative opioid screens, is a finding that would set the stage
for personalising treatment intensities and durations. A treatment algorithm, based on the predicted
value of observed and or imputed percentage negative opioid screens with a cut off percentage of 95%
and 75% respectively, would be reasonable (figure 19). Under this algorithm, patients who fail the
target percentage are directed to a different course of pharmacotherapy and would not continue on

pathways, according to psychological parameters and degree of family involvement. Other cut off

Disadvantages Of Driving
My journey began on a spring day, when my boyfriend at that time now my husband said that is the
right time to buy a car. Even though I was 23 at that moment, I had a feeling like I will be so
independent despite the fact that from the age of 18 years old I didn t live with my parents ,I traveled
in Europe by myself and I was already an independent person. In contrast with the US, in Russia,my
homeland country, the minimum age to drive a car is 18 years old, but there is no much need in a car
because the public transportation is cheaper and more convenient, the bus stations are close to every
location that you may need as well as if you drive a personal vehicle there is always an issue with the
lack of parking spots that make parking seem endless. On the top of disadvantages, is the stereotype
that the worst drivers in Russia are females. These were my reasons why I started to drive only at 23, a
perfect age, when I just moved to US. The thought that I will have a car, my own car, made me feel
very confident in myself. Thinking about my future first car made me so happy like I was a child
expecting for Christmas gifts, unwrapping the presents without any idea about what is inside of the
box. Unlike a child, I knew what is going to be inside of the box, something that suits my budget,
around 2 or 3 thousand. I was searching a car not for its shape, color or model but according my
budget. As every first car owner, I wanted a car that will be cheap in maintenance, with the

The World Trade Organization s Agenda And Implementation...
INTRODUCTION Dating back to 1949, the World Trade Organization was preceded by the General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The primary purpose of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade
was to reduce tariffs and other barriers to trade, as well as to eliminate preferences in order for trade to
be mutually advantageous. Currently, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade is still in effect
under the World Trade Organization, which was established to facilitate international trade, economic
growth and development. However, the goals of the World Trade Organization have been called into
question. Although the intergovernmental organization was established in order to aid developing
states to succeed into developed states, the World Trade Organization has been criticized for widening
the social gap between the Global North and South. The World Trade Organization s agenda and
implementation of its agreements have all served to advance the interests of developed states,
sidelining the interests of developing states. What is increasingly more alarming is the fact that three
fourths of the members within the World Trade Organization compromise of developing states. This
paper will aim to analyze the various ways in which the World Trade Organization has marginalized
and allowed for the exploitation of developing states. Through examining the consequences of foreign
direct investment, the dispute settlement process, tariff escalation and the TRIPS agreement, this paper

The Importance Of Heteronormativity In School Education
Introduction
Despite improvement in recent years, LGBT+ people still face systematic inequality in western
society. This results in discrimination and prejudice towards them, or a reluctance to talk about
LGBT+ issues. When it comes to education, the current situation in many western countries is that
there is little or no information available about LGBT+ topics for students, in part because of the
stigma that still surrounds LGBT+ identities. Indeed, up until 2003, it was illegal in the UK for
schools to promote the teaching [and the] acceptability of homosexuality (Legislation.gov.uk, 2017),
and LGBT+ education is still a controversial topic in many places today. For example, in New York, a
teacher was recently fired for teaching 11 to 16 year olds about LGBT+ terms, because parents
complained it was inappropriate for the children to learn about them (Toscano, 2017). Thus, there is
still a view that LGBT+ identities are inappropriate or even unsafe for children, which partially
explains this lack of information given to students at school. In the UK, a survey published this year
found that 40 per cent of LGBT pupils are never taught anything about LGBT issues (Bradlow et al,
2017).
The prevalence of heteronormativity in school education paired with the lack of LGBT+ information
is a serious problem, as it puts pressure on LGBT+ students to find information by themselves and sets
them apart from their peers. For instance, my personal experience growing up in France was

Why Did Britain Enter Ww2 Research Paper
Britain is including in Allies power in WW1, Allies win the ww1, and make the treaty of Versailles at
the end of the ww1. The war makes the economic recession a lot.
The Prime Minister announced today in a message broadcast to the Empire, that as from 11 o clock in
the morning, Great Britain was at war with Germany. ( The Daily Telegraph Sept 4, 1939.) Britain
must know the pain of war, but why it still joined the WW2 in 1939. I am going to talk about the three
reasons why Britain entered the ww2.
The First reason Britain entered ww2 is Germany occupation of Czechoslovakia. After the ww1, even
Germany had known the suffer of war , they still have ambition of expand their territory. The first
action which Germany did is going to occupation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although in the Munich Meeting Hitler said that is the last require about territory, he require Freie
Stadt Danzig territory again. Freie Stadt Danzig is a city protect under League of Nation, it is between
Poland and Germany . Germany wanted to gain this city then invade Poland. Britain had Anglo Polish
Agreement with Poland. It was agreed that the two countries were prepared to enter into an agreement
of a permanent and reciprocal character to replace the present temporary and unilateral assurance
given by His Majesty s Government to the Polish Government. (Anglo Polish communiqué issued
April 6, 1939) This agreement formalized the military alliance between Britain and Poland. Also
Britain and France promise they will help Romania and Greece. Germany think they are going to
surrounded by these countries, so it declare abolition the treaty about not invade Poland and less the
quantity of submarine, and then sign Molotov Ribbentrop Pact with Soviet Union secretly. Germany
said Poland is a unstable country, so it have to obey Germany, or it will be attacked by Germany.
Poland said they will not agree with that, Germany then declare the negotiation with Poland fail. At
the end of August, Germany continuous attack Poland. Because the Anglo Polish Agreement, Britain
have duty to help Poland when they need help, so Britain join the war on 1939 September. I think this
is the most important reason why Britain entered

Chinese History And American History
I have been studying Chinese history for a long time, but the interesting phenomenon is in 5000 year
history of China, there is only one formal empress called Wu Zetian, and the amounts of emperors are
four hundred and eight. The percentage of women to be a leader of China is 0.25%. Nowadays, Hilary
Clinton has been reported by all the newspaper and TV shows, because she is the only woman who
has possibility to be the first female president. Comparing Chinese history and American history, it is
rare to see that the women become the decision maker of the country. Also there is an article points
that
Studies show that women in the United States often face doubts about their leadership and are judged
more harshly than men. Alice Eagly, who teaches management and psychology at Northwestern
University, points to studies showing that female college presidents and police chiefs face additional
criticism when they fail. (1)
After looking at these information, there are some questions suddenly popped in my head about
women in leadership. Why women have lower percentage of being a leader than man? Can women
achieve true equality?
Depending on the research, of all the people in parliament in the world, 13 percent are women. In the
corporate sector, women at the top, C level jobs, board seats tops out at 15, 16 percent. The numbers
have not moved since 2002 and are going in the wrong direction. (2) This information shows that
women are having hard time to achieve parity with

Sleepless In Seattle Plot Analysis
Theme The theme of a movie is an idea, issue, or concept that a writer wants to express through a
story; a message or meaning that the audience is meant to take away from a movie. (Goodykoontz
Jacobs, 2014) The theme of Sleepless in Seattle is best stated by Tom Hanks in the beginning of the
film, and I ll grow a new heart. (Arch, 1992) Can true love happen for the second time? The theme of
this movie is about answering this question. Will Sam find love again?
Acting Style When you think of acting style in movies, you are looking for how the actors/actresses
represent the characters for the story. Tom Hanks is such a multitalented actor, but in Sleepless in
Seattle, he expertly plays a heartbroken widower and the father of Jonah. Meg Ryan is the ultimate
hopeless romantic and plays her role as Annie to perfection. Bill Pullman is wonderful in his role as a
skilled business professional, who is Annie s fiancé, Walter. Sam is Mr. Sleepless in Seattle. Annie has
overwhelming compassion for Jonah and Sam after hearing their story on the radio station. Maybe
Annie felt sorry for Jonah after hearing him asking for a new wife for his dad, or maybe it was just
magic and fate that made her fall in love with Sam before even meeting him. Walter is calm and
understanding when his engagement to Annie ends because Annie says she just has to meet Sleepless
in Seattle
(Walter Sleepless in Seattle, n.d.) (Sleepless in Seattle, n.d.)

I moved away from the cold window and tied my hair up. The house was lonely but the warmth of the

Who Is Melia In The Ruined Maid
In Thomas Hardy s poem, The Ruined Maid, the maid is ruined from past behaviours which have led
her to become an ostracized victim of the Victorian society. The term ruined in the Oxford Dictionary
can mean broken down, neglected, as well as un cared for (Oxford Dictionary), while in the poem,
being ruined refers to the maid being impure, labelled, and unworthy. The inscription of language and
imagery, as well as the ideas of social class, permanence of labelling in society are used in this
conversation poem to answer why Melia has been ruined.
The language between Melia and the first speaker are very different, as if they come from different
classes. The friend communicates with slang, and now you ve gay bracelets and bright feathers (Hardy
6) while Melia responds with appropriate phrasing. The fact that the first speaker once knew Melia
suggests that Melia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Melia s ostracized life is demonstrated through the depiction of language and Victorian morality
views; the relationship between labelling and Melia s ruined self is established within the time that the
poem was published. Thomas Hardy being a late Victorian poet furthers this ideology of ostracized
women in the Victorian era with the use of his inscription. In the Victorian era, it was considered
socially acceptable to have women who had premarital sex publically shamed by wearing certain
garments and acting a certain way on the streets (Prostitution of Young Females in London). People
who behaved toward the act and semblance of prostitution were then scorned because it was a symbol
of impurity and tainted life (Prostitution of Young Females in London). Premarital sex was one of the
worst things that a woman could do because they would ruin their chances of achieving a normal life.
Melia s life was then ruined because of prostitution or pre marital sex which led her to such

Lowering The Voting Age Essay
Teenagers are the future of the world and should be given the right to make decisions that will impact
their futures too. Lowering the voting age will be a great benefit to the United States and 16 year olds
have a better understanding about the system than 18 year olds due to the education they are receiving
making them a little more mature to make the right decision to vote. The benefits of reducing the age
to 16 are the advantages teens get of learning how the voting system functions at an early age.
Lowering the voting age is a very argumental subject but teens will become more interested in voting
since it will be a big deal if they are allowed to vote. It is crucial for a teenager at 16 years old to be
able to vote and give their opinions on politics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of them go for a driver s permit test and are eligible in the next six months to pass the driving

voting shouldn t be much of a challenge (Hernandez A. 1). Teens are able to take responsibility, like
voting, more serious if it will have an impact in their life.
Teens are more smarter than what they get credit for. 16 year olds can register in the military which

Kant On Euthanasia
Philosophy 1610
22 April 2013
Euthanasia or Just Plain Murder:
The Mercy Death/Killing Debate
Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in order to release an individual from unbearable suffering
or an incurable disease. Euthanasia the word is derived from Ancient Greek, Eu meaning good and
Thantos meaning Death and when combined the term means Good Death . Mercy Death by definition
is taking a direct action to terminate a person s life because the person has requested to do so. This
also includes physician assisted suicide, not to be confused with suicide which is the taking of one s
life by one s own hand without assistance. Mercy Killing is also a term used and it refers to someone
taking a direct action to terminate a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can
now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in direct
violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means
killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or capital punishment. It can
also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if human beings allow one thing to be
declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of others bad things to follow. The church also
have the argument over religious practices and means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should
we have the right to take it away again? The religious aspect has many different reasons for being
against euthanasia but all religions stem from the belief of a higher power or being giving us the gift
of life. There are also other available options as in possibly of finding a cure or using hospice as an
alternative. So in result Immanuel Kant has his own ethical theory and arguments revolving around
the taking of one s life via euthanasia, therefore many arguments or debates can be given to defend the
right not to take another individuals life based on one s own ethical views.
A second ethical theory that can be raised is what stance does Utilitarianism takes on the debate of

Antisocial Media And Social Media
Antisocial Media
In our modern age, people live a fast paced life. Almost everything, it seems, is done by way of the
Internet. Many wonder what the effects this kind of lifestyle has on society. There is a debate whether
the internet has alienated us from families, society, and reality. Supporters of this debate suggest that
those addicted to the internet use it in place of reading, face to face conversations, socializing, and in
place of deeper thinking and brain analyzation processes. The other group suggests that the
information obtained on the internet gives on the ability to process more information at a more rapid
pace than book research. It can be argued that the internet is overriding our ability to socialize with
others, to read a good book to recognize tone, and our ability to be captivated by the words and feel
the emotions those words offer, but the internet, used properly, has its place in our daily lives.
To be able to utilize information on the internet involves a great deal of rapid processing of
information that one must consider to be true or false, relevant or not, and if that information
presented that way is enough to make a decision on or if more information in needed. The Cyberspace
Generation has acquired the ability to become quicker thinkers, and better processors of information
thanks to the Internet. Although, it can be argued that this generation has become
more independent and socially isolated, reliant on text to express

Resource Room Teacher Interview Report
My morning interview with a resource room teacher provided me with a wealth of vital information
that will assist me in my future career. As I sat at length and spoke with Mrs. Provost, asking her
questions that revealed the inner workings of her job and the various facets that accompany it, the
same thought kept entering my mind someday this going to be me , and I could not be happier. While
Mrs. Provost willingly and patiently answered each question I realized the obligation of educating in
the department of special education is challenging at times. The commitment is tremendous, but when
a student with any form of social or academic disability thrives under the direction of a special

Villanova Research Paper
With two titles in the past three years, the Villanova Wildcats are on their way to becoming a dynasty.
Since the end of John Wooden s UCLA coaching tenure in 1975, only twice has a school won two
times in the span of three years. These were Duke s early 90 s teams of Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, and
Christian Laettner, and Florida s 2006 2007 teams of Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and Corey Brewer,
meaning the Wildcats have joined elite company. Once known as a top team during the regular season
who would flame out in March, Jay Wright s most recent teams have shattered that belief.
Villanova has always prided itself on continuity and developing players within their system. In the era
of one and done basketball, where over 200 underclassmen have declared for the NBA Draft in the last
five years, Villanova has been largely immune. Although they lost four underclassmen this year,
including National Player of the Year Jalen Brunson, Villanova is perfectly positioned for another title
run. It s not a bad thing when Villanova s youngest team in years is still projected finish within ...

Their top four scorers are gone to the NBA. Had Donte Divincenzo and Spellman, who were both
considering returning, stayed, they would have been ranked 1st. Only Eric Paschall and Phil Booth
remain from the starting lineup, and they combined for only 20 points this past year. They are solid
players, but neither of them are studs. But Jay Wright has dealt with this before. Jalen Brunson went
from a 9.6 PPG player as a freshman to almost 19 as a junior. Donte Divincenzo had an 11 PPG uptick
in only 2 years as well. Even when it seems as if Villanova is in trouble, the next man always steps up
and produces for Wright s team. And Booth and Paschall are not alone. Would anyone be surprised if

Implementation. The Solution That Is Chosen Is Telehealth
Implementation The solution that is chosen is telehealth; types of technology that will be used will
need to be considered. The forms of technology that will be used with the telehealth program are video
conferencing, digital scales, a remote monitoring devices like a biosensor, blood pressure monitors,
automated medication dispensers, and a smart phone (Nelson Stagger, 2014). An important aspect to
remember is how these forms of technology can be used to help increase access to care. These types of
technology can prevent un needed trips to the doctor or ED, as well as increasing access to the
provider. For telehealth to be as effective there is a lot that a healthcare organization and provider
would have to go through. There are special ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be a lengthy and costly process; there are currently discussions about mutual recognition for
APNs like there are for RNs in compact states (Nelson Staggers, 2014). As with any other changes at
the organizational level there must be new information and regulations about what patients are
appropriate for telehealth program; this information will be sent out via the organization education
website or procedure manual. This policy and procedure will need to have a signature to verify that all
employees have addressed it. One policy that may need to be updated or reviewed would be the
HIPPA policy for the organization. Some of the hesitancy with implementing telehealth into practice is
privacy, so when implementing the telehealth program staff will be re educated on HIPPA (The
Compliance Ethics Blog, 2016). With the education provided the organization will avoid any HIPPA
violation fines. Conclusion Rural areas need improved access to care. While all the solutions
discussed, would be great solutions and would be able to help with increased access to care it is
important to have one solution that is here to stay. With funding being a concern in many areas of
government; healthcare should not depend solely on more funding. While transportation is a valid
option to help in resolving the rural healthcare situation it has many pitfalls as well (Cronk, 2015). As

The Advantages Of The Economic Definition Of Economic...
TFP is the essence of economic notion of productivity and is used as a measure of technical progress.
It shows the efficiency with which all inputs are used in a production function and is defined as the
measure of increase in output not due to different input choices but due to increase in marginal
products of factors of production.
TFP= %∆ in total output α* %∆ in capital (1 α)* %∆ in labour engaged
Purpose:
TFP measurement helps unravel the direct growth contributions of labour, capital, intermediate inputs
and technology. This is an important tool for reviewing past growth patterns and for assessing the
potential for future economic growth.
Advantages:
Total factor productivity tries to capture the efficiency with which inputs of capital as well as labour
are used. If workers are given better machines and equipment, this will automatically boost output per
man hour, even if there is no gain in overall economic efficiency once the extra capital spending is
taken into account.
Investors should look at total factor productivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amongst its functional form (the formula) this method holds a heavy advantage i.e., it does not need
to refer to a particular kind of production function. Thus it is not dependent on the unrealistic
assumptions on which total factor productivity is based. Furthermore, to quantify labour productivity
one has not to rely on the distributive shares in output, which are strongly influenced by market
power, and such a measure of productivity encompasses all kinds of technical change embodied and
disembodied (Reatti, 2001). The relative influence of these two types of technical change can be
measured separately by splitting the formula of productivity of labour into its components − the
degree of mechanisation (the capital/labour ratio), and the productivity of

Obesity In Huntington s Obese City
In recent years, information about how our food choices affect our health has started to emerge in
popular society. The outrageous percentage of people suffering with diseases such as obesity, diabetes
and asthma has people asking questions and looking for causes (and solutions). Television shows such
as Jamie Oliver s Food Revolution, in which one ambitious English chef sets out to make the most
obese city in America healthier, explains just how serious these problems have become. The scenic
city of Huntington, WV has been the key driving force of his movement. This city is only a few miles
from where I live. The most obese city in America. The state of West Virginia, has been the most
obese state in the United States from 2010 through 2012. Overall, obesity in the U.S. has increased
from 26.2 percent in 2012 to 27.1 percent in 2013; the obesity rate was 25.5 percent in 2008

Capital Punishment and Life Without Parole Essay
The first death sentence that has been historically recorded was as far back as 16th century BC. This
occurred in Egypt, the wrongdoer was accused of magic and he was then ordered to take his own life.
In present day the death penalty has changed drastically. The death penalty has undergone many
changes since then. In medieval times the methods used to kill people were inhumane and often times
cruel. In modern times the methods to kill people are much more humane. The death penalty has been
used less and less often and even outlawed in some states. The death penalty should be used more

The more people in a prison the more money it takes for that prison to run. In 1995 it cost $49 billion
dollars to run all of the prisons in all 50 states. Since 1995 there has been an increase in the amount of
people incarcerated in prison. With this increase in prison population there is also an increase in the
amount of money it costs to run prisons. The cost difference in an entire trial and prosecution of a
death sentence and the entire trials and prosecution and life in prison of a LWOP sentence is immense.
Dudley Sharp says in Death Penalty and Sentencing Information Justice for all estimates that LWOP
cases will cost $1.2 million $3.6 million more than equivalent death penalty cases (Sharp).

create a physical safety. Without murderers, rapists, assailants, and other such brutal people there
would be less need for self defense, such as guns or other weapons. With less white collar crime
people would be safer when it comes things such as having identities stolen or companies being
embezzled. This would give people better financial security and less chance of having their life ruined
by someone stealing their identity. It would give the economy a great boost as well.

themes of the novel; that the problems in society are related to the sinful nature of man and good
verses evil. In Golding s first chapter, the main characters are introduced, we see many ominous signs
of what s to come through the authors choice of language and the beginning of rivalries, issues and

It is no surprise that Piggy s nickname is such. When Golding introduces the character, he has just
come out of the bushes, after suffering from diarrhoea through eating too many unripe berries. The
author continually relates to the fact that the boy is fat, and in many descriptions, Golding blatantly
says this such as The fat boy looked startled . As we progress through the early pages, we learn more
of Piggy s appearance through the conversation between Piggy and Ralph. I ve been wearing specs
since I was three . With these continual descriptions, we are able to obtain a vivid and detailed image
of this fat boy. The specs that Piggy wears are a symbol of his intelligence that is to be superior to the
other boys. Individuals that wear glasses have always been considered to be intelligent and smart, and
Piggy is no exception to this. His constant attempts to unite the group of boys under the laws of the
conch are to try to establish the same society of that in the old counties and of what they are used to.
Piggy is not a natural leader he has the brains, but not the courage. We can see this when Golding
describes the boys reaction to the loud and bossy Jack: He shrank to the other side of Ralph...and
secure from the other side of Ralph, he spoke timidly . Many

Hepatitis A is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Hepatitis A affects the liver
and may cause inflammation of the liver and affect the liver s functioning. This disease can be spread
by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. This disease can also be spread by close contact
with infected individuals. If one does not wash their hands properly before preparing food or drink,
they run the risk of contaminating the food with the hepatitis A virus (National Institute of Diabetes

What Is The Difference Between Andy Fish And Rumble Fish
While Andy Jackson from Tears of a Tiger sand Rusty James from Rumble Fish both seem lonely,
they differ because Andy is pessimistic while Rusty James is dependent. In both books, the characters
lose people they feel close to. However, Andy proves himself to be independent multiple times
throughout the book. Rusty James relies on people helping him get out of trouble. Characterization
plays an important role in the reader s understanding of character development.
Readers of both Tears of a Tiger and Rumble Fish find both Rusty James and Andy Jackson lonely. In
the book Tears of a Tiger, it stated But I get to Robbie, I couldn t get to him. This demonstrates that

Psychodynamic Hypothesis In Social Work
Psychodynamic hypothesis, a hypothesis of identity started by Sigmund Freud (writing between the
1890s and the 1930s), has a long and complex history in social work. The youthful calling s want for a
logical base, Mary Richmond s decision on a therapeutic model to survey and treat customer issues,
and the wide effect of Freud s thoughts on the pop culture, added to the most noticeable part of
psychodynamic thought in the hypothesis base of social work (Germain, 1970; Greene and Ephross,
1991). The hypothesis supporting psychodynamic therapy began in and is educated by psychoanalytic
hypothesis. There are four noteworthy schools of psychoanalytic hypothesis, each of which has
affected psychodynamic therapy. The four schools are: Freudian, Ego Psychology, Object Relations,
and Self Psychology. Freudian brain science depends on the hypotheses initially figured by Sigmund
Freud in the early piece of this century and is some of the time alluded to as the drive or auxiliary
model. The substance of Freud s hypothesis is that sexual and forceful energies starting in the id (or
oblivious) are regulated by the personality, which is an arrangement of capacities that conservatives
between the id and outer reality. Barrier components are developments of the sense of self that work to
limit torment and to keep up the mystic balance. The superego, shaped amid inertness (between age 5
and adolescence), works to control id drives through blame (Messer and Warren, 1995). Sense of self

The Necessary Qualities Of A Good Democratic Citizen Essay
The necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen require an individual to recognize an injustice
within the law, actively oppose that law, and to do so regardless if that unjust law affects the citizen
personally. Rousseau, Emerson, and Douglass all agree that freedom and equality are natural rights
endowed to all humans. However the three authors diverge in consensus when envisioning the
necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen, such as the position from which each author is
theorizing, a citizen s obligation to the state, and the moral implications of slavery. Douglass s view of
a good democratic citizen is superior because, unlike Rousseau and Emerson, Douglass is able to
theorize from the position of a free black man and is therefore able to recognize the intersections of
race and inequality within the law and politics.
Rousseau is theorizing from the concept of the general will, which promotes individuals to become
conscious citizens who actively participate as a community to form policies for a governing structure.
The general will advocates for a commitment to generality, a common interest that will unite all
citizens for the benefit of all. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into the community his person and
all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will; and as a body, we incorporate every
member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). The general will is an expression of the law
that is superior to an individual s

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Multicarrier Transmission
3.1 Introduction Multicarrier transmission, also known as OFDM is a technique with a long history
back to 1960that has recently seen rising popularity in wireless and wire line. In the recent interest in
this technique is mainly due to the recent advances in digital signal processing technology. The
International standards making use of OFDM for high speed wireless communications are already
established or being established by IEEE 802.11, IEEE, 802.16, IEEE 802.20 and ETSIBRAN

tends to reduce the power efficiency of the radio frequency (RF) amplifier. 3.1.3 Application of
OFDM During the past decade, OFDM has been adopted in many wireless communication standards

The Civil War was a divisive time in American history that tore the country in half for five long years
(1861 1865). After the election of Abraham Lincoln, the southern states seceded from the north and
formed the Confederate States of America because they saw their way of life being threatened. They
wanted to fight for their right to have slaves and for states to have more power. The North (Union)
fought because secession wasn t an option and they needed to preserve the country as a union. Lincoln

Symptoms And Treatment Of Huntington s Disease
Huntington s Disease Huntington s disease is an inherited neurodegenerative disease that is caused by
a mutation on the HTT gene. It typically effects persons in their third to fifth decade of life and can be
passed onto their children. Neurons in the brain waste away or degenerate in different areas causing
the characterizing symptoms, such as dance like movements and mental decline. Diagnosis and
prognosis can be devastating to both individual and family. However, there are genetic tests that can
help to predict the probability of developing symptoms of the disease. There is no cure for this
debilitating disease; only symptom control and maximization of comfort can be prescribed until future
research finds a cure. This paper will review origins and symptoms, in addition to treatments and
future treatments.
Origins
Genetics The gene HTT is located on the short arm of chromosome 4 and is present in everyone;
however, it is the mutation of that gene that causes Huntington s disease. The mutation presents as an
error in the CAG repeat equal to additional repeats more than is normal. Normal genotypes have less
than 36 CAG repeats, anything above 36 results in an unstable gene (Scott, 2011). If a person has 36
to 39 repeats, he or she is genetically considered to have Huntington s, but may not develop the
symptoms of Huntington s; however, his or her offspring will definitely have a great probability of
developing symptoms (Scott, 2011). A person with 40 or more repeats

Sexual Orientation, By Sarah Waters
Throughout human history, various minority groups find themselves the targets of prejudice,
discrimination, and even violent acts of hatred. One of the most notable ways in which the struggles of
these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation, and more
specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction writing, as
well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinity is a prime example
of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but set it in London
during the Victorian Era. In order to create a realistic narrative, Waters had to ensure that it was
historically accurate, even down to the societal impact of Margaret s sexual preferences. Though it
was not overtly discussed, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries marked the era in which
...homosexuality in its modern form truly began to emerge (Willett 351). From the start of Affinity,
Margaret s emotional and psychological flaws are exposed through her diary. She also reveals details
about her relationship with Helen, which ultimately foreshadows the outcome of her future romantic
relationships. Many of Margaret s hardships come from the pressures that her society puts on her and,
in turn, she develops unhealthy relationships with those around her. Her isolation plays a huge factor
in her dependence on Selina, another woman who appears to be in the same position as Margaret

Patient X has developed a wound on his right hip after being admitted a few days previously, after
suffering from a stroke. Patient X has a history of a mild stroke and has slow mobility and uses the aid
of a frame to mobilise. Patient X is obese, a heavy smoker and now ... Show more content on

This increased evidence that smoking is associated with poor wound healing could be viewed as bias
though, as most of the studies have looked at surgical wounds and few have been concerning chronic
wounds (Sorenson, 2003). Nutrition Mani (2003) claims that nutrition is a fundamental role that must
be adopted in the treatment and healing process of pressure ulcers. A balanced diet with adequate
nutrients should be key for all patients deemed to be at risk of pressure ulcers. Both nutrition and
hydration are the basic components in promoting wound healing and maintaining normal tissue
integrity. Patients at risk of pressure ulcers should be nutritionally assessed at regular intervals
(Shepard. 2003). This could have been adopted by the use of assessment tools such as, The Nutritional
Screening initiative. This tool includes nutritional screening at regular intervals and a comprehensive
assessment that includes nutritional assessment, functional assessment and evaluation for depression.
This comprehensive approach allows the nurse to quantify the nutritional problems and initiate the
appropriate resources that will meet with the individual needs (Bryant, 2000). Another optional tool is
the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool or MUST. This has been designed by the Malnutrition
Advisory Group (MAG) of the British

City Of Ember Book Vs Movie Essay
Humanity s Back Up City What if humanity did not have the sun, the moon, and a steady supply of
electricity? In The City of Ember, Jeanne DuPrau writes about a city that lives underground, only they
don t know that they live underground. The citizens of Ember have never heard of the sun, the moon,
stars, plants, or animals. But if they don t have the sun or moon, how do they see anything? Ember has
an ancient generator in tunnels running under the city the Pipeworks. This generator supplies
electricity to all of the light bulbs that give light to Ember. Ember has a large stock of food and light
bulbs to last them awhile 220 years to be exact. After 220 years they would all escape because the
mayors of the city have a secret box with instructions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, the differences between the book and movie range from small, nitpicky details to important
aspects of the book. For one, on assignment day everyone who got a job was supposed to be twelve,
but in the movie Doon was seventeen and there were little five year olds running around with jobs.
Also another age related fault in the movie was when they made Looper look like he was forty, not
fifteen, and dating Lizzie. Besides age, the movie also cut out important scenes to show just how
severe the power outages and supply scarcities were, such as the part when Lina was buying color
pencils and Poppy got lost during a blackout. The movie also made Ember look like it had more
futuristic things than it should have had. In movie Ember, Pipeworks laborers had hats with lights on
them that could connect to electricity, but no movable light source was found in the books. Instead of
having a complicated lock on the box with the instructions, the box looked computerized. As a
replacement for a supply room, the movie had conveniently lockers that could transform into boats. It
had bugs and parasites, such as the octo rat thing, hiding around corners that could not be found in the
book. With all those differences, it only makes sense the book fans are

Long Bone Osteomyelitis Case Studies
Osteomyelitis of the Long Bones
Osteomyelitis is an inflammation of the bone and bone marrow that can occur in any bone in the body,
however, is more commonly seen in the long bones, the spine, and the foot bones of a diabetic.
Osteomyelitis typically begins as an infection of the medullary cavity, quickly extends to the
periosteum, and settles in the calcified portion of the bone. Even with the significant advances in
diagnosing and treating these types of infections, long bone osteomyelitis still presents a variety of
challenges and remains difficult to treat. The severity of the disease is staged depending upon the
infection s particular features, including its etiology, pathogenesis, extent of bone involvement,
duration and host factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conditions like malignant and benign tumors, cysts, non infected non unions, old trauma, and bone
infarcts may present symptoms similar to those of osteomyelitis. Therefore, an accurate diagnosis is
dependent on culture results and histologic features. Localized bone and joint pain, erythema, swelling
and drainage around the site of infection may be indications of contiguous focus osteomyelitis. Other
common indicators are local bone loss, sequestrum formation and bony sclerosis. The patient usually
presents with chronic pain and drainage, and obtain a low grade fever (Calhoun et al.). Often times,
drainage and sinus tracts are found near the site of infection. Diagnosis of long bone osteomyelitis
rests on isolation of the pathogen from bone lesion or blood culture (Calhoun et al.). Positive blood
cultures can eliminate the need for a bone biopsy, in the case of hematogenous osteomyelitis, provided
there is radiographic evidence of osteomyelitis. Culture independent methods such as polymerase
chain reaction based detection methods are much more sensitive and accurate (Calhoun et al.). It is
critical to obtain cultures before antimicrobial therapy begins. Antibiotic treatment will be directed on
the basis of cultures or deep bone biopsy and antibiotic sensitivity tests. In today s labs, a variety of
test methods are used including broth microdilution, disk diffusion, and antibiotic gradient

Topic Conveying History
The author begins to talk about Harvard Historian, Samuel Morison. Morison had a different way of
conveying history compared to your average history text book. As Zin puts it that one can lie about the
past or tell facts that lead to conclusions found as unacceptable then concluding that Morison does
neither (8). Which means that Samuel tells the truth and only the truth about his subject. Which
provides an interesting take on retelling history based on how it s told. That way is by stating facts of

Summary Of Mr. Memory, Hunger Of Memory By Richard Rodriguez
Before I got engaged in writing on a constant and more personal level, a level from which I can boost
my skills, I oftentimes misunderstood the mere purpose of writing. In the beginning of my academic
childhood, I, similar to many children, was introduced to literature from an angle that was related to
my academic progess. I was given the idea that you write in order to satisfy the teacher and receive a
grade. Therefore, my understanding of writing would continuously be that of a common learning skill
that would assist me in becoming a standard citizen in the future who was taught the correct placement
of an adverb in a sentence. Richard Rodriguez, in `Mr. Secrets, Hunger of Memory´, stated that
Writing, at any rate, was a skill I didn t regard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I focus harder on wondering why Rodriguez decided to become a writer, then I actually do reading the
context of the book. Rodriguez, revealing his comfortability with strange audiences, states that This is
what I have learned by trying to write this book: There are things so deeply personal that the can be
revealed only to strangers (Rodriguez, 200). From my viewpoint of Hunger of Memory, it is evident
that Rodriguez shares that contentment with strangers because the content of the book was so personal
that they can only be said to someone who is not close. Someone you don t know (Rodriguez, 200).
But I m also adamant in trusting that he is an Author because he has acquired the necessary aptitudes
in becoming an Author. Certainly, the skills do not have a bearing on the physical characteristics. After
reading a group of imposingly structured sentences, I look back at the image of the once young man
who worded these words and I, again, unsuccessfully, compare the words with the face. These skills
are, must be, derived from his passion for sharing personal literature to the public. Because he loves it,
he does it. Consequently, he becomes good at it. This is the meaning of

Cisco Systems Case Study Essay
Cisco Systems (2001): Building and Sustaining a Customer Centric Culture
Introduction/General Problem Statement:
Doug Allred was Vice President of Customer Advocacy organization of the Cisco s corporation. This
organization was erected to consolidated all functions that directly touched the customer but sales to
provide high quality customer service. Since August 2001, the IT market turned down and brought
severe challenges to Cisco as the company had to lay off 18% of its employees and reorganized its
structure, transforming from decentralized organizational structure with three business units to
centralized organization. However, these changes stabilized the volatile situation of the economy but
threatened Cisco s customer focus, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Cisco created the Customer Focus Initiative to try to serve leader customers better, as the
SVP of Customer Advocacy, Allred still felt anxious that this reorganization would reduce the
customers loyalty. He was also afraid that since the products were high priced, customers would
ignore the longtime relationship and turn to Cisco s competitors. Therefore, adjusting the existing
culture to adapt to the new structure became the fundamental issue of Allred. Alternative Solutions: In
such a situation, since the bad economic environment, it is not possible to keep the original structure
to fit its culture. One possible method to solve this problem is to collect continuous customers
feedback and to subdivide the feedback by different departments. The culture of Cisco is to keep
paying attention to the customers, no matter the amount of resource. But the new structure made the
whole resources of the company useless to satisfy customers. Thus, a good way to know what
customers need is to collect the feedback from them. In the article How to Change a Culture: Lessons
from NUMMI, the author told us that those of us trying to change our organizations culture need to
define the things we want to do, the ways we want to behave .iv By collecting the feedback of
customers, each Cisco s employee could be clarified of what they need to do to satisfy the customers.
To make the feedback effective, Cisco should pay

Obama Second Speech Summary
Threats of terrorist activities within the borders of the United States were recently actualized by the
mass shooting in San Bernardino, which killed fourteen innocent civilians. The President of the
United States has been attempting to minimize the damage dealt in public opinion. In the aftermath of
the shooting, President Obama has spoken twice regarding the incident, however, he did not label the
shooting a terrorist attack until this past Sunday, during his second speech. There have been many
articles written dealing with the content of the Presidents speeches, with each coming from a different
perspective. The article by Gardiner Harris and Michael Shear attempts to analyze the situation as a
whole while providing criticisms of the President s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, President Obama has his hands tied by his promise to remove United States ground troops
from the Middle East. The President needs to find a way to eliminate the Islamic State, but in bringing
ground troops into the Middle East it plays to the strengths of the Islamic State. The Islamic State
would only use the occupying of United States soldiers to further increase their hold on the region.
President Obama claims that strides are being made against the Islamic State, but the shooting in
Southern California was a clear contradiction to that statement. Juan Zarate, a former counterterrorism
official in the Bush administration, said, If you re making progress, terrorist threats shouldn t be
appearing on your shore. Among many former counterterrorism officials, there is very little
confidence in President Obama. Instead of focusing on foreign policy dealing with terrorist attacks,
President Obama has used the San Bernardino attacks as a launching pad to further his agenda on
stricter gun control laws. Pushing for increased background checks would be a proper response if this
mass shooting had not had links to international terrorism with a jihadist

  • 2. Tony Brown Observation I observed a two year old male child; I will be referring to him as Tony Brown. The project I think went pretty well. The observation took place at his home while his mother was present. Tony Brown is a Hispanic male; he is a cute little kid. My topic is how Tony Brown uses language to interact with his environment and I observed how he did. I observed him at his home, the second floor of an apartment complex. I was in the living room while he roamed freely, while I watched how he interacted with his environment and how he used language to get his mother s attention. Present at the time was Tony Brown, his mother and I. There were no other children so he would interact with his toys or other objects that were around him. Tony Brown like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has an understanding of how to put sentences together because he tries to, but the words do not fully make sense to other people. Tony Brown does things like any other two year old at his age he plays with toys, loves his mother, and gets distracted easily. For example, when it was time for the activity he had unfortunately became distracted. The activity I chose to do was to see if he could identify a set of flashcards that had colors and shapes on them. I wanted to see if the child could say both what the color was and also say the shape that was associated with the color. I was trying to test not only his language abilities, but his ability to differentiate between the color and the shape. When I tried to administer the activity he kind of just looked at me and continued to play with his toys or something else. I finally got him to actually engage in the activity afterwards, which was great, but he still wasn t fully engaged with it. Tony Brown knew most of the colors and spoke them, but not completely clear. After a while I could eventually make out the word he was trying to say. He also knew the shapes, but when he saw a circle he said ball , or he just said the corresponding color instead of the shape. The thing that I saw was that he could distinguish the color purple very well and he said it very clearly and I thought that was interesting because it was his mother s favorite color. In conclusion, Tony Brown is a smart kid who is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Evolution Of War Research Paper Humanity has resorted to war as a fundamental way to settle their differences. Clausewitz describes war as the act of force to compel the enemy to do our will. Sun Tzu believed that war was to subdue the enemy without fighting. However it is defined, every culture has its motives for why they go to war and how it should be conducted. Nation states go to war to gain access to new territories and resources, settle religious differences, defend against a threat, and for no other reason than to impose their will on the enemy. To deter war nation states have used diplomatic means to settle their differences but when that fails, war follows. When war is declared, the victory goes to the force who can inflict the most casualties at the decisive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Union and the Confederates had differing economies at the onset of the war. The North was very industrialized in comparison to the agricultural South. Both sides developed a variety of methods to fund their respective military efforts ranging from taxation, selling government bonds, loans, and printing new currency. However, countries like Britain used their wealth and an established economy to become the colonial power of the age that no other country could match. This was due to their naval power which they could sustain from, raising funds through long term credit at low interest rates. In the west economics determined who could adopt the western way of war and who could not base on the state s ability to keep abreast of changing technology and maintain the resources to deploy it effectively. In closing, it was evident that the west had a dramatic influence on the world and as it still does today. It s important to note that possessing all the elements of the Western way of war does not guarantee success, it is the application of all the elements along with experience, the government and the will of the people. Army professionals today must understand that the ability of the United States Army ability to win decisively embraces these three fundamental characteristics of the Western way of war to sustain dominance across the full range of military ... • 4. Killing Rommel Book Report Killing Rommel Killing Rommel by Steven Pressfield tells the story about an elite British commando unit, the Long Range Desert Group, and their mission to roam the North African desert. The mission was to stop Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and his Afrika Corps during World War II. Rommel, also known as the Desert Fox , was a German army general that Hitler could rely on for almost any mission given his exceptional tactics on the battlefield. Pressfield presents the story as a first person account memoir of a fictional citizen soldier who goes by Lieutenant Lawrence Chapman, a British Eighth Army officer. Chapman is later selected to be a part of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) in 1942. Pressfield states how he did his best not to alter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One fact that stood out to me was early on in the book when he described the heat situation inside of an army tank and said, For every degree Fahrenheit rise outside, interior temperature rose a degree and a half. Seventy out was 100 in... (16). This is astonishing to me that the troops were in the desert with 100 degree weather and roasting in their tanks at 130 degrees. The novel flows nicely, beginning with how Chapman describing his journey to the LRDG. It unravels the mission, he and his comrades were ordered to do in the heat of World War II. There is no doubt that Pressfield wanted to keep the story in first person to account for the events in Chap s memoir. He states in the prologue that it was in his best interest to keep as much as he could directly as Chap wrote while making it as easy to read as possible. This book is a work of fiction, but it incorporates many facts and real people. I think he did a fantastic job. There is a few confusing spots throughout the book when it gets into the technical stuff. One example is trying to keep track of all the different army divisions. There was never a time I was bored reading which is why I would recommend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. How Did Andy Warhol Influence Pop Art Andy Warhol paper / Period 6 Andy Warhol was definitely an intriguing and controversial character. He paved the way for an entirely new art style, pop art; he even went on to take the title of the Pope of Pop . There were many reasons why people were drawn to him and the controversy that surrounded him. Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an artist he would go on to become a prominent figure in pop culture. My family lives in a manor near a lake, and about a league outside of the large city, because we don t like living inside the large bustling city, which currently has a population of around 37000. EL R And BMI Case Study Regardless of the reason why these biological factors impact treatment outcomes, the ability of both the EL.R and BMI to predict percentage negative opioid screens, is a finding that would set the stage for personalising treatment intensities and durations. A treatment algorithm, based on the predicted value of observed and or imputed percentage negative opioid screens with a cut off percentage of 95% and 75% respectively, would be reasonable (figure 19). Under this algorithm, patients who fail the target percentage are directed to a different course of pharmacotherapy and would not continue on BNX. • 9. Disadvantages Of Driving My journey began on a spring day, when my boyfriend at that time now my husband said that is the right time to buy a car. Even though I was 23 at that moment, I had a feeling like I will be so independent despite the fact that from the age of 18 years old I didn t live with my parents ,I traveled in Europe by myself and I was already an independent person. In contrast with the US, in Russia,my homeland country, the minimum age to drive a car is 18 years old, but there is no much need in a car because the public transportation is cheaper and more convenient, the bus stations are close to every location that you may need as well as if you drive a personal vehicle there is always an issue with the lack of parking spots that make parking seem endless. On the top of disadvantages, is the stereotype that the worst drivers in Russia are females. These were my reasons why I started to drive only at 23, a perfect age, when I just moved to US. The thought that I will have a car, my own car, made me feel very confident in myself. Thinking about my future first car made me so happy like I was a child expecting for Christmas gifts, unwrapping the presents without any idea about what is inside of the box. Unlike a child, I knew what is going to be inside of the box, something that suits my budget, around 2 or 3 thousand. I was searching a car not for its shape, color or model but according my budget. As every first car owner, I wanted a car that will be cheap in maintenance, with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The World Trade Organization s Agenda And Implementation... INTRODUCTION Dating back to 1949, the World Trade Organization was preceded by the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. The primary purpose of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade was to reduce tariffs and other barriers to trade, as well as to eliminate preferences in order for trade to be mutually advantageous. Currently, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade is still in effect under the World Trade Organization, which was established to facilitate international trade, economic growth and development. However, the goals of the World Trade Organization have been called into question. Although the intergovernmental organization was established in order to aid developing states to succeed into developed states, the World Trade Organization has been criticized for widening the social gap between the Global North and South. The World Trade Organization s agenda and implementation of its agreements have all served to advance the interests of developed states, sidelining the interests of developing states. What is increasingly more alarming is the fact that three fourths of the members within the World Trade Organization compromise of developing states. This paper will aim to analyze the various ways in which the World Trade Organization has marginalized and allowed for the exploitation of developing states. Through examining the consequences of foreign direct investment, the dispute settlement process, tariff escalation and the TRIPS agreement, this paper will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Importance Of Heteronormativity In School Education Introduction Despite improvement in recent years, LGBT+ people still face systematic inequality in western society. This results in discrimination and prejudice towards them, or a reluctance to talk about LGBT+ issues. When it comes to education, the current situation in many western countries is that there is little or no information available about LGBT+ topics for students, in part because of the stigma that still surrounds LGBT+ identities. Indeed, up until 2003, it was illegal in the UK for schools to promote the teaching [and the] acceptability of homosexuality (Legislation.gov.uk, 2017), and LGBT+ education is still a controversial topic in many places today. For example, in New York, a teacher was recently fired for teaching 11 to 16 year olds about LGBT+ terms, because parents complained it was inappropriate for the children to learn about them (Toscano, 2017). Thus, there is still a view that LGBT+ identities are inappropriate or even unsafe for children, which partially explains this lack of information given to students at school. In the UK, a survey published this year found that 40 per cent of LGBT pupils are never taught anything about LGBT issues (Bradlow et al, 2017). The prevalence of heteronormativity in school education paired with the lack of LGBT+ information is a serious problem, as it puts pressure on LGBT+ students to find information by themselves and sets them apart from their peers. For instance, my personal experience growing up in France was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The war makes the economic recession a lot. The Prime Minister announced today in a message broadcast to the Empire, that as from 11 o clock in the morning, Great Britain was at war with Germany. ( The Daily Telegraph Sept 4, 1939.) Britain must know the pain of war, but why it still joined the WW2 in 1939. I am going to talk about the three reasons why Britain entered the ww2. It was agreed that the two countries were prepared to enter into an agreement of a permanent and reciprocal character to replace the present temporary and unilateral assurance given by His Majesty s Government to the Polish Government. • 13. Chinese History And American History I have been studying Chinese history for a long time, but the interesting phenomenon is in 5000 year history of China, there is only one formal empress called Wu Zetian, and the amounts of emperors are four hundred and eight. The percentage of women to be a leader of China is 0.25%. Nowadays, Hilary Clinton has been reported by all the newspaper and TV shows, because she is the only woman who has possibility to be the first female president. Comparing Chinese history and American history, it is rare to see that the women become the decision maker of the country. Also there is an article points that Studies show that women in the United States often face doubts about their leadership and are judged more harshly than men. Alice Eagly, who teaches management and psychology at Northwestern University, points to studies showing that female college presidents and police chiefs face additional criticism when they fail. (1) After looking at these information, there are some questions suddenly popped in my head about women in leadership. Why women have lower percentage of being a leader than man? Can women achieve true equality? Depending on the research, of all the people in parliament in the world, 13 percent are women. In the corporate sector, women at the top, C level jobs, board seats tops out at 15, 16 percent. The numbers have not moved since 2002 and are going in the wrong direction. Sleepless In Seattle Plot Analysis Theme The theme of a movie is an idea, issue, or concept that a writer wants to express through a story; a message or meaning that the audience is meant to take away from a movie. (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014) The theme of Sleepless in Seattle is best stated by Tom Hanks in the beginning of the film, and I ll grow a new heart. (Arch, 1992) Can true love happen for the second time? The theme of this movie is about answering this question. Will Sam find love again? Acting Style When you think of acting style in movies, you are looking for how the actors/actresses represent the characters for the story. Tom Hanks is such a multitalented actor, but in Sleepless in Seattle, he expertly plays a heartbroken widower and the father of Jonah. Meg Ryan is the ultimate hopeless romantic and plays her role as Annie to perfection. Bill Pullman is wonderful in his role as a skilled business professional, who is Annie s fiancé, Walter. Sam is Mr. Sleepless in Seattle. Annie has overwhelming compassion for Jonah and Sam after hearing their story on the radio station. Maybe Annie felt sorry for Jonah after hearing him asking for a new wife for his dad, or maybe it was just magic and fate that made her fall in love with Sam before even meeting him. Walter is calm and understanding when his engagement to Annie ends because Annie says she just has to meet Sleepless in Seattle (Walter Sleepless in Seattle, n.d.) (Sleepless in Seattle, n.d.) The term ruined in the Oxford Dictionary can mean broken down, neglected, as well as un cared for (Oxford Dictionary), while in the poem, being ruined refers to the maid being impure, labelled, and unworthy. The inscription of language and imagery, as well as the ideas of social class, permanence of labelling in society are used in this conversation poem to answer why Melia has been ruined. The language between Melia and the first speaker are very different, as if they come from different classes. In the Victorian era, it was considered socially acceptable to have women who had premarital sex publically shamed by wearing certain garments and acting a certain way on the streets (Prostitution of Young Females in London). People who behaved toward the act and semblance of prostitution were then scorned because it was a symbol of impurity and tainted life (Prostitution of Young Females in London). Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in direct violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or capital punishment. It can also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if human beings allow one thing to be declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of others bad things to follow. The church also have the argument over religious practices and means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should we have the right to take it away again? The religious aspect has many different reasons for being against euthanasia but all religions stem from the belief of a higher power or being giving us the gift of life. Many wonder what the effects this kind of lifestyle has on society. There is a debate whether the internet has alienated us from families, society, and reality. Supporters of this debate suggest that those addicted to the internet use it in place of reading, face to face conversations, socializing, and in place of deeper thinking and brain analyzation processes. The other group suggests that the information obtained on the internet gives on the ability to process more information at a more rapid pace than book research. It shows the efficiency with which all inputs are used in a production function and is defined as the measure of increase in output not due to different input choices but due to increase in marginal products of factors of production. TFP= %∆ in total output α* %∆ in capital (1 α)* %∆ in labour engaged Purpose: TFP measurement helps unravel the direct growth contributions of labour, capital, intermediate inputs and technology. This is an important tool for reviewing past growth patterns and for assessing the potential for future economic growth. Advantages: Total factor productivity tries to capture the efficiency with which inputs of capital as well as labour are used. The youthful calling s want for a logical base, Mary Richmond s decision on a therapeutic model to survey and treat customer issues, and the wide effect of Freud s thoughts on the pop culture, added to the most noticeable part of psychodynamic thought in the hypothesis base of social work (Germain, 1970; Greene and Ephross, 1991). The Necessary Qualities Of A Good Democratic Citizen Essay The necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen require an individual to recognize an injustice within the law, actively oppose that law, and to do so regardless if that unjust law affects the citizen personally. Rousseau, Emerson, and Douglass all agree that freedom and equality are natural rights endowed to all humans. However the three authors diverge in consensus when envisioning the necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen, such as the position from which each author is theorizing, a citizen s obligation to the state, and the moral implications of slavery. Douglass s view of a good democratic citizen is superior because, unlike Rousseau and Emerson, Douglass is able to theorize from the position of a free black man and is therefore able to recognize the intersections of race and inequality within the law and politics. Rousseau is theorizing from the concept of the general will, which promotes individuals to become conscious citizens who actively participate as a community to form policies for a governing structure. The general will advocates for a commitment to generality, a common interest that will unite all citizens for the benefit of all. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into the community his person and all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will; and as a body, we incorporate every member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). The International standards making use of OFDM for high speed wireless communications are already established or being established by IEEE 802.11, IEEE, 802.16, IEEE 802.20 and ETSIBRAN committees. For wireless applications, an OFDM based system can be of interest because it provides greater immunity to multipath fading, and impulse noise, in eliminates the need for equalizers, efficient hardware implementation can be realized using FFT techniques. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The OFDM makes single frequency networks possible, which is especially attractive for broadcasting applications. 3.1.2 Disadvantages of OFDM Transmission: In the OFDM is more sensitive to frequency offset and phase noise. In OFDM has a relatively large peak to average power ratio, which tends to reduce the power efficiency of the radio frequency (RF) amplifier. 3.1.3 Application of OFDM During the past decade, OFDM has been adopted in many wireless communication standards networks, including European digital audio broadcasting system, and terrestrial digital video broadcasting, and satellite terrestrial interactive multiservice infrastructure in China. In addition, OFDM has been considered or approved by many groups are working in IEEE standard, such as IEEE 802.11a/g/n standard network, IEEE 802.15.3a, and IEEE 802.16d/e. The applications include wireless local area networks, wireless personal area networks and wireless metropolitan networks. Currently, OFDMA is being investigated as one of the most promising radio transmission techniques for LTE of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced ... The United States stands for liberty and opportunity and proceeds to stand tall around other nations that cripple with time. Our iconic symbol is the Statue of Liberty, which migrants would first see when they came into our country seeking a better life than they left behind. America is filled with a much perceived wealth, but what may seem like gold to foreigners is actually just pyrite. In the Wizard of Oz, the residents of the famed city are legally required to wear emerald glasses, which make the city appear green and sparkling. In the book, the wizard says, My people have been wearing green glasses on their eyes for so long that most of them think this really is an Emerald City. (Flank L. Baum). The Contributions of Women in the American Civil War The Civil War was a divisive time in American history that tore the country in half for five long years (1861 1865). After the election of Abraham Lincoln, the southern states seceded from the north and formed the Confederate States of America because they saw their way of life being threatened. They wanted to fight for their right to have slaves and for states to have more power. The North (Union) fought because secession wasn t an option and they needed to preserve the country as a union. After her dad s passing, Barton left the city clinics to go among the officers in the field. She was able to bring three wagons full of medical supplies to the Union soldiers at the Battle of Antietam which is known as the bloodiest single day battle in American History. Through that battle she gathered men and directed them to get water, prepare food, and perform any first aid necessary for the injured soldiers. Many of the supplies and transportation need for the Union was provided by Barton herself or donations she was able to get. • 37. Symptoms And Treatment Of Huntington s Disease Huntington s Disease Huntington s disease is an inherited neurodegenerative disease that is caused by a mutation on the HTT gene. It typically effects persons in their third to fifth decade of life and can be passed onto their children. Neurons in the brain waste away or degenerate in different areas causing the characterizing symptoms, such as dance like movements and mental decline. Diagnosis and prognosis can be devastating to both individual and family. However, there are genetic tests that can help to predict the probability of developing symptoms of the disease. There is no cure for this debilitating disease; only symptom control and maximization of comfort can be prescribed until future research finds a cure. This paper will review origins and symptoms, in addition to treatments and future treatments. Origins Genetics The gene HTT is located on the short arm of chromosome 4 and is present in everyone; however, it is the mutation of that gene that causes Huntington s disease. The mutation presents as an error in the CAG repeat equal to additional repeats more than is normal. Normal genotypes have less than 36 CAG repeats, anything above 36 results in an unstable gene (Scott, 2011). If a person has 36 to 39 repeats, he or she is genetically considered to have Huntington s, but may not develop the symptoms of Huntington s; however, his or her offspring will definitely have a great probability of developing symptoms (Scott, 2011). • 38. Sexual Orientation, By Sarah Waters Throughout human history, various minority groups find themselves the targets of prejudice, discrimination, and even violent acts of hatred. One of the most notable ways in which the struggles of these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation, and more specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction writing, as well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinity is a prime example of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but set it in London during the Victorian Era. In order to create a realistic narrative, Waters had to ensure that it was historically accurate, even down to the societal impact of Margaret s sexual preferences. Though it was not overtly discussed, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries marked the era in which ...homosexuality in its modern form truly began to emerge (Willett 351). From the start of Affinity, Margaret s emotional and psychological flaws are exposed through her diary. She also reveals details about her relationship with Helen, which ultimately foreshadows the outcome of her future romantic relationships. Many of Margaret s hardships come from the pressures that her society puts on her and, in turn, she develops unhealthy relationships with those around her. Her isolation plays a huge factor in her dependence on Selina, another woman who appears to be in the same position as Margaret ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This increased evidence that smoking is associated with poor wound healing could be viewed as bias though, as most of the studies have looked at surgical wounds and few have been concerning chronic wounds (Sorenson, 2003). Nutrition Mani (2003) claims that nutrition is a fundamental role that must be adopted in the treatment and healing process of pressure ulcers. A balanced diet with adequate nutrients should be key for all patients deemed to be at risk of pressure ulcers. Both nutrition and hydration are the basic components in promoting wound healing and maintaining normal tissue integrity. Patients at risk of pressure ulcers should be nutritionally assessed at regular intervals (Shepard. 2003). This could have been adopted by the use of assessment tools such as, The Nutritional Screening initiative. This tool includes nutritional screening at regular intervals and a comprehensive assessment that includes nutritional assessment, functional assessment and evaluation for depression. This comprehensive approach allows the nurse to quantify the nutritional problems and initiate the appropriate resources that will meet with the individual needs (Bryant, 2000). For one, on assignment day everyone who got a job was supposed to be twelve, but in the movie Doon was seventeen and there were little five year olds running around with jobs. Also another age related fault in the movie was when they made Looper look like he was forty, not fifteen, and dating Lizzie. Besides age, the movie also cut out important scenes to show just how severe the power outages and supply scarcities were, such as the part when Lina was buying color pencils and Poppy got lost during a blackout. The movie also made Ember look like it had more futuristic things than it should have had. In movie Ember, Pipeworks laborers had hats with lights on them that could connect to electricity, but no movable light source was found in the books. Instead of having a complicated lock on the box with the instructions, the box looked computerized. Conditions like malignant and benign tumors, cysts, non infected non unions, old trauma, and bone infarcts may present symptoms similar to those of osteomyelitis. Therefore, an accurate diagnosis is dependent on culture results and histologic features. Localized bone and joint pain, erythema, swelling and drainage around the site of infection may be indications of contiguous focus osteomyelitis. Other common indicators are local bone loss, sequestrum formation and bony sclerosis. The patient usually presents with chronic pain and drainage, and obtain a low grade fever (Calhoun et al.). Often times, drainage and sinus tracts are found near the site of infection. Diagnosis of long bone osteomyelitis rests on isolation of the pathogen from bone lesion or blood culture (Calhoun et al.). Positive blood cultures can eliminate the need for a bone biopsy, in the case of hematogenous osteomyelitis, provided there is radiographic evidence of osteomyelitis. Culture independent methods such as polymerase chain reaction based detection methods are much more sensitive and accurate (Calhoun et al.). Therefore, adjusting the existing culture to adapt to the new structure became the fundamental issue of Allred.
